00:01:08
Speaker 4: Abby is here as well. And so nine days in how's how's fatherhood?

00:01:13
Speaker 3: Non days?

00:01:14
Speaker 5: About nine hours of sleep in that window. But other than that, it's been awesome. Obviously, I'm very in love and obsessed and loving dad life.

00:01:20
Speaker 3: Uh you know, and are you really? Oh?

00:01:22
Speaker 5: Yeah, And honestly, the stuff people say is rub it's not that bad. You can change a diaper, rough change seven what's fine. It's just a I wish I could sleep a little more.

00:01:29
Speaker 4: But overall, I'd say it's been so what's like, what's the night of sleep that you usually.

00:01:33
Speaker 5: Get a couple hours here and there. I kind of Abby is up the most. But I've had a few three am to seven am shifts where I'm just sitting there holding her and just you know, give her a little bounce, just staring at her for four hours. But those those start to.

00:01:46
Speaker 4: Get pure Abby, Like the pictures of you all, it's all like something you would see in an album, Like you're sitting there staring at her and like it's like it's it's colored in a certain way.

00:01:58
Speaker 3: She likes a good dad nap. Yeah.

00:02:00
Speaker 5: In the aesthetics, I think we use a filter.

00:02:01
Speaker 4: You feel like it seems like you're like completely embracing dad iness.

00:02:05
Speaker 3: You're wearing a dad hat.

00:02:06
Speaker 5: Oh, I got my air Monarchs on.

00:02:08
Speaker 3: Of course, I'm all in already got dad shoes.

00:02:11
Speaker 5: Okay, I'm never taking these off, by the way, these are the most comfortable shoes ever. Dad's had this figured out along time. Yeah, I know they don't look that cool.

00:02:18
Speaker 4: We've been making fun of Ryan for wearing those shoes shoes for a decade, and now you're gonna start rocking out.

00:02:23
Speaker 3: You can make fun of me, all right, but fair enough.

00:02:26
Speaker 4: Well, you seem happy, and both of you, the mother and daughter, and you all look wonderful, and it's nice of you to be by here. You've missed a lot.

00:02:34
Speaker 5: I've I've mostly stayed off my phone because shoes in marbs. I can't even reach for it. I'm using both hands. But every time I check in something seems to be on fire. It's been it's been rough or maybe perfectly. I think it was perfectly time for you. Maybe not for the rest of us, but that's okay. And what's the birthdate so that I can write it down and never remember four fourteen? We didn't we didn't hit Master Sunday. It was two days later.

00:02:58
Speaker 6: Fourteen.

00:02:59
Speaker 4: Okay, so my mom will write that down so then I'll get a text on her birthday every month. Else I'll forget. Well, congratulations. You want to sit this first segment with us here? Yeah, yes, Well, I don't know.

00:03:11
Speaker 5: In a minute, we're actually on our way to the board meetings. Avery, she's gonna go Frankie Franklin with me.

00:03:15
Speaker 3: Speaking of that, I have some.

00:03:19
Speaker 4: I don't know, I have some scuttle butt that maybe drifts into scoop.

00:03:24
Speaker 7: I heard all your tweets, so you can't tease this with it a little bit.

00:03:26
Speaker 3: So I'm not this is gonna be one of these. I'm not saying.

00:03:30
Speaker 4: I'm just saying, Okay, don't be surprised if in the next day or two it's announced that the Mitch Deal gets ripped up.

00:03:41
Speaker 7: Gets ripped up. I didn't see that coming. What you were getting ready to say?

00:03:45
Speaker 4: Well, I mean, I'm not saying. I'm just saying that there's been a big push, and it would not surprise.

00:03:52
Speaker 3: Me if we hear that in the very near future.

00:03:55
Speaker 7: It gets from all the outside pressure.

00:03:57
Speaker 3: Without question. I mean, these knuckleheads that started the whining, and then of course the governor weighs in U two days ago. I would not.

00:04:10
Speaker 4: I think there's a decent shot that which let's say that happens.

00:04:15
Speaker 3: What do we think of that?

00:04:16
Speaker 5: Does he still get to sit in the rocking chair and eat Hey, here's the Hey, I gone too?

00:04:20
Speaker 4: I think could be like it just ends not just at least some of the deal is altered, even if whether maybe it's the money structures altered or something, but maybe just nothing, but like the whole sort of sweet deal may be no longer a deal.

00:04:39
Speaker 5: Well, you know, I'm all for that, because I thought it was ridiculous from the beginning. I hope taking away the ten tickets as part of it, I don't know.

00:04:44
Speaker 3: If I haven't heard the money, you really you were very upset if you take the math on those tickets.

00:04:50
Speaker 5: And I've talked to some some donors who were telling me how just they're almost just as upset about.

00:04:54
Speaker 4: The tickets, because do you think those tickets are worth like what fifty seventy five grand?

00:04:58
Speaker 3: Tell it they're forever or for the Yeah.

00:05:01
Speaker 4: Yeah, So I think that would be an amazing change if it ends up happening, and also showcase Ryan that like sometimes it feels like public outcry doesn't matter. This would be a case where this would be a public outcry. I mean, like this started, as.

00:05:22
Speaker 3: You know, it.

00:05:22
Speaker 4: Wasn't just us, there were other people, but just a handful of people going, wait a minute, what's going on? And then it keeps getting building louder, and then the governor gets involved.

00:05:32
Speaker 3: I mean it is kind of even.

00:05:34
Speaker 4: In today's world where it feels like sometimes things are out of the fans control, this would be one where I actually think it made a difference. I think it made a huge difference if it again, if it happened, happened, if it happens. I'm just telling you the scuttle.

00:05:46
Speaker 7: Bud, you know I'm seeing, feels like the other cya a little bit. But if they do that, it is a good pr move on the half baf of Kentucky, you evers Kentucky, Like we're gonna rip this up. We realized we made a mistake. We're gonna correct it and rip this way.

00:06:00
Speaker 4: I'd be interested to see what the legal like, I mean, if they signed that deal, Like, I don't know what ripping it up means. I mean it may have to. I'd be interested to see the mechanics because you know, if you sign the deal, you sign the deal. I don't know exactly how that works. You know, maybe they'll characterize it as Mitch that volunteering to not although I mean people just give up five million dollars, I don't think there's a lot of people that do that. So I don't know. I don't know how it's going to play out. But this is just what I hear is likely to be very likely to be the end result.

00:06:32
Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know how that works. Because we've seen the contract. It's got Eli's big senature mitches. I mean, it looks pretty official and finalized.

00:06:38
Speaker 3: But this was like, this was entirely predictable.

00:06:41
Speaker 4: When you make a decision, to you youngsters out there, if you end up working in PR, when you make a decision that affects a lot of people, and then when people ask you about it, you tell them to shut up and you say, you know, we get to do what we want, and you have no explanation as to why it's not crazy to.

00:06:59
Speaker 3: Me that this would be the result. I think they thought this would just go away.

00:07:02
Speaker 4: I think they thought, like, oh, it's a short attention span, people will move on, and people didn't move on, and then I think the final straws when the governor gets involved, Because when the governor gets involved and all of a sudden, this decision which was made in a room, I mean, think about this. This was made in a room with Mitch Barnhardt Eli and then whoever ELI had, I don't know who it was there, but there were three or four of them. They got no approval from anybody, and they probably thought we're gonna sneak this out and then it's gonna be gone. And then you go in a month later, it's one of the headline stories on ESPN. It's into New York Times, like all of a sudden, you go. But see if they had just done a press conference and dealt with I think it probably goes away. People might not be happy about it. But they handled it so poorly that you end up with this result.

00:07:49
Speaker 7: You're right, they having a news conference to announce the detailed reporters get to ask questions.

00:07:53
Speaker 3: But then they move on.

00:07:54
Speaker 4: It would have been a difficult forty five minutes probably, but then people would have probably, but by not doing it, it's the you know, the drip. This is the thing when you have something bad happen from a publicity standpoint.

00:08:10
Speaker 3: Rip the band aid off. Just deal with it.

00:08:13
Speaker 4: It's the drip of just constant, like Mike Vrabel and Diana Russini. I don't know if the thing with the coach and the reporter dating. If they had just dealt with it, then it could go away. But they didn't do anything, and then it drips and drips and drips and drew. That's how you end up with a bad decision.

00:08:32
Speaker 5: Yeah, for a while, we were bringing it up a lot, and you know, people around here locally were talking about it. I was in shock the other day when the governor's tweet started it and then ESPN.

00:08:42
Speaker 3: Saiwhere had it as a headline.

00:08:45
Speaker 5: Mitch had to have been in a rocking chair, just like, oh my god, Like, this is gonna get taken away from you.

00:08:51
Speaker 4: I do wonder though, Here's what could I give you the This is not scuttle Buck.

00:08:55
Speaker 3: This is Matt reading scuttle Buck. Okay, this is just my interpretation.

00:08:59
Speaker 4: I think they want to save Van Tatanhov is a law school Dan, and they're just kind of throwing minch to the side. No, I mean I think they're like, Okay, the only reason anybody cares about this law school thing is because he threw in Barnhart. Just get rid of the Barnhart thing and then we'll just move on and people will stop.

00:09:17
Speaker 3: Paying attention on law school. And I think that's what's gonna happen.

00:09:19
Speaker 7: So the meeting is is today? Does this happen take place today?

00:09:24
Speaker 4: I don't like to put days on things, but I mean, you're right, the board meeting is today, so.

00:09:29
Speaker 7: It could be a very eventful board meeting.

00:09:31
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:09:32
Speaker 4: Today, Now, all right, so we got that's that's my scoopings Gonta. But I want to go back to you for a second.

00:09:36
Speaker 3: Yes, do you.

00:09:37
Speaker 4: Feel like you know people say when you have a child that it it comes out? Is that the right terminology?

00:09:43
Speaker 5: She did come out? It comes out? And then all I heard people telling you last Friday, I need to stop saying it. Okay, she she's right there, she can hear you.

00:09:54
Speaker 4: She she comes out. And then like people say, you're life changes like at that moment. Yet, like Ryan always says this, do you think that is that what happened? Could you feel a change in that moment?

00:10:08
Speaker 6: You know?

00:10:08
Speaker 5: Everybody said that so much I expected more clearly in love with her, but like, I don't feel like just arms in the Airlife is completely different now. Like I said, other than sleep, it doesn't feel.

00:10:18
Speaker 3: You don't feel like you're a different person. So I mean I love her to death.

00:10:21
Speaker 5: I feel that, and I know I'm responsible for this human for the rest of my life.

00:10:24
Speaker 3: Now is that nerve wracking?

00:10:26
Speaker 4: Because I mean, I've known you at times in life you couldn't be responsible for yourself.

00:10:29
Speaker 5: Well, I've thought many times if I had to do this at twenty five instead of forty, it would be a different upbringing.

00:10:34
Speaker 4: Yeah, baby, when I met you, I would not I wouldn't have let you watch my drink much less a child.

00:10:39
Speaker 5: Yeah, so I have had thoughts of you know, forty is a little later. It starts becoming more normal these days. But it's a little later than I anticipated. But I think of what it would have been like if I'd had her in my twenties and she's in a much better spot.

00:10:50
Speaker 4: Yeah, Well, are you now like ready for a second Let's let's get through second week.

00:10:57
Speaker 5: So far, so good on second week. But I still have a lot to learn. But this is still know what is?

00:11:01
Speaker 4: What is the thing that's uh is it something that's difficult for you. You said the diapers were easy. Yeah, I mean she's thrown up on me a few times. I just laugh at it. I don't know if you're laughing at her.

00:11:12
Speaker 5: Well, I put on a Titans T shirt the other day and she immediately threw up on it. I washed it, I put it back on, and then she threw up on it again. So I think she's already telling me what she wants to like. No, really, I don't want to say it's been easy easy, but it's been easier than I expected with all the warnings I've got.

00:11:27
Speaker 4: Now you you you have a lot of friends. You've probably had everybody trying to contact you. I know, people sit messages. I'm sure you're grateful for it. Oh yeah, I can't.

00:11:36
Speaker 5: I can't thank everybody enough. I'm still catching up on messages. We've been sent so many flowers and gifts that it's all piling up. Truly grateful for everyone that's reached out.

00:11:44
Speaker 4: I have a gift on the way Abbey. By the way, I ordered something okay, yeah for it, for it, A nice present for it, and when you get it, you'll be like, here you go.

00:11:58
Speaker 5: We're excited, but no, really just just holding it. She likes a good dad nappy. There's even times where Abby can't get her to stop crying. And oh so you're saying you have a better ability than Can I confess to something?

00:12:09
Speaker 3: Yes?

00:12:09
Speaker 6: Can I tell him what I sing? Oh?

00:12:11
Speaker 5: Yeah, So I quickly learned. I don't know nursery rhyms. Like I know there's an ittsy bitsy spider, but once it gets the spout, I don't really know what happens from there.

00:12:21
Speaker 3: The black sheep and have you any wool? I don't know the lyrics.

00:12:25
Speaker 5: So one night, to get her to stop crying, I wrapped the Lollipop remix and she instantly went to sleep. Kanye and Lil Wayne, wait minute, you you did the lollipop around? I don't know nursery rhymes, and she was crying a lot, and it was there, aren't there some little I understand it's not the perfect song to sing, but it worked.

00:12:45
Speaker 4: Okay, So can you give us I mean, I'm not going to recreate and hack like I'm avery, but could you give us a little bit of the of the rap?

00:12:53
Speaker 3: Try to that's how you do it? That's okay.

00:12:57
Speaker 6: I better not on the radio.

00:12:59
Speaker 4: So you you've seen things to your baby you don't want to say on the radio.

00:13:02
Speaker 5: Well, yeah, I kind of edit it and I do a voice. But at first I thought it was funny and I couldn't wait to tell Abby that she fell asleep to the Lollipop remix. It's now five for five and it's kind of our thing. Wow, wow, I've done a little Young Jeezy. It's not only that one, but I quickly learned that I wasn't prepared to do nursery.

00:13:18
Speaker 4: You're doing a little Wayne and Young Jeezy instead of Zy Vizzy Spider.

00:13:22
Speaker 3: Well, I don't know the word.

00:13:23
Speaker 4: You wonder if like when she's like eighteen and she goes off to college and she goes to like a college party, that'll come on and it'll like be in the recesses of her brain and all of a sudden she'll be like, why am I so loving this?

00:13:35
Speaker 5: Well, we got in the car the other day I had picked up food the night before without her, and Big Moochie Grape was playing.

00:13:40
Speaker 3: I don't know if you're familiar not a Big Moochie Grape. She kind of liked it.

00:13:43
Speaker 5: She was kind of bobbing her head so, uh, she's clearly gonna.

00:13:46
Speaker 3: So you're creating a rap fan.

00:13:48
Speaker 5: Yeah, she's Abby's identical twin, but she can chug the heck out of milk. I think that came from Dad, and she likes a little bit of hip hop. So I at least know that I contributed. Good well, Drew, it's great to see you. It's great to see you, and uh it, it's nice to see you. Uh as well, and get some rest and we'll see you when you come back. I probably won't get rest, but I will see you when I get back.

00:14:10
Speaker 3: All Right.

00:14:10
Speaker 4: I fed through Franklin. Everybody there, we get Thank you everybody. All right, Well, you're gonna take a break. I have some scolding to do. We're Ryan and we're gonna make Mario come and sit here.

00:14:21
Speaker 3: Now. That's gonna be right after break. This is KASR Shannon. That's gotta be the song, right, I feel like it does. Yeah?

00:14:31
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean every Avery rose perfect.

00:14:34
Speaker 3: Why are you sitting so far away from me because you're worried about women? Say?

00:14:38
Speaker 7: Because the same team right now?

00:14:40
Speaker 4: I mean they have Shannon, they have moved, they are up here and then they're like squeezed up next to each other, leaving me all the way over here on the other side.

00:14:47
Speaker 3: Why are you like that?

00:14:48
Speaker 6: Right?

00:14:49
Speaker 7: Because he's about to try to get mad at us. We're gonna be on the same.

00:14:55
Speaker 3: It's a little bit of a criticism coming, all right.

00:14:57
Speaker 4: So for so, uh if I'm nine to two eight oh twenty two eighty having the text machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five four last night, Uh, Shannon, I just go to dinner. I'm enjoying myself and all of a sudden, you know, I'm doing something I'm trying to do more of which is just put my phone down for a little bit of time.

00:15:12
Speaker 3: Yep.

00:15:13
Speaker 4: Uh.

00:15:13
Speaker 3: I pick up my phone and I.

00:15:15
Speaker 4: Have all these messages going what's Ryan and Mario's deal? What are they trying to? Are they trying to mess with people? What's going on?

00:15:22
Speaker 3: And so then I go and look at it, and I see.

00:15:25
Speaker 4: That both of you all, not one of you all, but both of you all put up the eyeball emojis that like something crazy's happening.

00:15:33
Speaker 2: I'm just cooking, and God's up to something.

00:15:36
Speaker 3: God was up to something that's exactly right.

00:15:39
Speaker 4: And then of course everybody gets excited because you know, it's recruiting time, and people are thinking, oh, Tyron Stokes might decide any day. People get excited and I look at it and I go, come on, guy, because I know you all don't know one way or the other. And then people got mad and people were yelling once again at me as if I had done something, because you did that.

00:16:02
Speaker 3: Why did you all do that? Well, we thought, so, don't way make the old man talk first?

00:16:08
Speaker 4: Why did you do that? Maybe we know something, like, hang on, do you know something? Yes, we we heard some stuff. And then I confirmed it with this is not about Tyrant Stokes. By the way, I don't know anything about Tyrann Stokes, but I confirmed it with another source and they said they heard the same thing.

00:16:26
Speaker 3: So you can't.

00:16:27
Speaker 4: So you so that was not just about your bowling last night.

00:16:30
Speaker 6: No no, no, no, no no no.

00:16:32
Speaker 7: I was cooking bowling last night, taking but that wasn't what the eyeballs are.

00:16:35
Speaker 4: So you are sticking by the eyeballs absolutely, So you.

00:16:41
Speaker 3: Are eyeball horrific.

00:16:42
Speaker 7: I'm my eyeball again today, same eyeballs, maybe the same eyeballs.

00:16:47
Speaker 3: Maybe I'll do two eyeballs.

00:16:49
Speaker 4: Okay, so can we You did that but you gave no explanation, and then, of course nothing happened that not.

00:16:56
Speaker 3: Would you like to say what the eyeballs were?

00:16:58
Speaker 7: I don't think so called. Just wait see how it plays out today.

00:17:02
Speaker 6: I mean I said it already.

00:17:03
Speaker 7: Oh you did say it. What did you say?

00:17:05
Speaker 8: He said it was about uh McBride and his visit. What about his visit going really well? It went really well?

00:17:11
Speaker 4: And but we've had a lot of visits go well and we didn't get the players. What what what are we are you saying we're getting McBride saying there's a high chance as far as.

00:17:19
Speaker 3: What I heard, Okay, now committed already, he committed. You're saying he committed already.

00:17:25
Speaker 6: This is what I've heard.

00:17:25
Speaker 3: He committed already.

00:17:26
Speaker 6: He's got a knockout paperwork.

00:17:28
Speaker 3: That's what I heard.

00:17:28
Speaker 6: I don't know if that's true or not. This is just what I.

00:17:31
Speaker 4: Heard, all right, But you too understand. I know Ryan understands this. I need you to understand this. Although he's just as involved as you are.

00:17:39
Speaker 3: At this point.

00:17:39
Speaker 4: Of course, we have a responsibility, whether whether whether we should or not. People give us a credibility absolutely that we can't just say things, Yes, Ryan messed it up last year with Lamar Wilkinson.

00:17:53
Speaker 3: But I understand what happened.

00:17:55
Speaker 6: It happened. Anything can change at the last.

00:17:57
Speaker 3: Understand that you.

00:17:58
Speaker 4: When you guys both put eyeball, you're basically saying this is happening.

00:18:04
Speaker 6: We we I have a strong.

00:18:09
Speaker 3: Cat.

00:18:10
Speaker 8: I have confidence in my source. I've seen it and Ryan showed me. And then I was like, see, did you all get two different sources?

00:18:17
Speaker 4: Yes, yes, I got so somebody told you and somebody different told you.

00:18:22
Speaker 7: Correct.

00:18:22
Speaker 3: Okay, well that's that's positive. All right.

00:18:25
Speaker 4: You've been around long enough you know kind of what is and what isn't strong.

00:18:29
Speaker 3: Do you feel good that they're gonna get this? Just to McBride, kidd, I think.

00:18:34
Speaker 4: Susie says, I think, Shannon says, do you know it's.

00:18:38
Speaker 3: The preacher in in Bell County says? Do you think so? Or do you know so?

00:18:43
Speaker 7: I think in this portal world area, a verbal commitment can change overnight.

00:18:50
Speaker 6: They can.

00:18:51
Speaker 7: So then why I put out the eyeballs Because something's cooking.

00:18:53
Speaker 6: Something's cooking, it's something to look forward to.

00:18:55
Speaker 4: It's positivity, I mean, but it's not positivity if we don't get them.

00:18:58
Speaker 7: That's why we didn't say then linked the name, but you now have I didn't. Okay, but you do you do you understand what I'm yes, I do.

00:19:10
Speaker 3: I do?

00:19:10
Speaker 4: You can You cannot play with these people's emotions.

00:19:15
Speaker 6: I wouldn't say I was playing with them.

00:19:16
Speaker 8: I would say something that you're looking forward to eyeball emoji, something to be a little bit excited for. You know, BBN hasn't been, you know, in the best mood lately.

00:19:24
Speaker 4: I understand, but you and and if we get this person to be better, but if we.

00:19:27
Speaker 3: Don't, you will have made them worse.

00:19:30
Speaker 8: I wouldn't say I'd make it worse. I think things can change overnight. I mean, I've seen these guys on the visit. I've seen the bride on the visit.

00:19:36
Speaker 6: Yesterday. They were at Kroger Field.

00:19:38
Speaker 8: Driving around with Mo Williams and and UH coach mcclan.

00:19:41
Speaker 6: So I'm confident.

00:19:44
Speaker 3: All right, all right, I mean I'm not. I just want you to just realize, like.

00:19:49
Speaker 4: It's it's good, it's fun to us, but there are one hundred thousand people who follow you.

00:19:54
Speaker 6: Yes, of course I know that.

00:19:56
Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, all right, So so you so your you two are saying we're getting McBride.

00:20:01
Speaker 7: I didn't say that. I said something's cooking.

00:20:03
Speaker 4: Something's cooking, all right, shading thoughts. See just for the listeners, this is what I have to deal with because the moment I started going back and I had all these people saying, this is the kind of ship Matt.

00:20:20
Speaker 3: Jones runs, and I didn't know what y'all were doing. I knew you were bowlding.

00:20:23
Speaker 1: You can't be responsible for everything of these guys tweets.

00:20:25
Speaker 9: I can't.

00:20:26
Speaker 3: I don't have to.

00:20:27
Speaker 4: They don't understand even though I can't be responsible to the public size I am.

00:20:32
Speaker 8: I think that's what people I would say that that is unfair how people were like, you know, message you because everybody's.

00:20:38
Speaker 3: In his own person. Everybody is the person.

00:20:40
Speaker 6: Just because we say something, it's not But you.

00:20:42
Speaker 4: Two also have to realize that if you do something, it's going to reflect on me.

00:20:49
Speaker 2: Have a lot of responsibility in those tweets.

00:20:51
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean like and look, I'm not saying don't do it, but like, if if this kid doesn't come, the person that will get the criticism.

00:21:00
Speaker 7: Me, Yeah, I wouldn't have put it out there. I wouln't to feel good about it.

00:21:04
Speaker 3: Okay, Now I like that, so you have that level of confidence. Yeah, okay, all right, then I'm good.

00:21:10
Speaker 7: I think it's awful too. A caller, I'll say something and they attribute it to you.

00:21:14
Speaker 4: I was in Amsterdam last year when you did the Lamar Wilkinson thing.

00:21:18
Speaker 3: And I got block.

00:21:20
Speaker 7: It is your fault, all right?

00:21:22
Speaker 3: All right? So uh let me go to the mixed thing. What do you think?

00:21:25
Speaker 6: Do you?

00:21:26
Speaker 3: What do you think if that ends up going away today?

00:21:28
Speaker 7: Like I said, I'm kind of proud of the University of Kentucky if they're going to do this because I think of the mab c ya. But the thing, the they're gonna make, the effort to make it right from a mistake they made, I think is good pr.

00:21:40
Speaker 4: All right now, Tyron Stokes number one player in the country. I look, every Owen County head popped up right there when I said that. He A lot of national people are gonna say, is going to decide this week?

00:21:53
Speaker 3: What do you make? All right?

00:21:54
Speaker 4: So it's hard. I'm now to the point that sometimes I can't tell what's ai and what's not.

00:22:00
Speaker 3: Was that tattoo that tattoo is through? That tattoo is real?

00:22:05
Speaker 7: Yeah, that's like he did an Instagram live with.

00:22:07
Speaker 4: Something media tattoo of like Muhammad al Lei and Louisville and five oh that was real. I was, yeah, okay, you had and he had a UK game on in the background.

00:22:16
Speaker 8: Yes, I mean, is he just screwing with us? I don't know, No one knows or is God up.

00:22:23
Speaker 3: To something.

00:22:25
Speaker 7: At the heck of a troll move?

00:22:27
Speaker 4: If well, we'll talk about Stokes then we'll take your calls a f I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven.

00:22:31
Speaker 3: It's kosher TJ. Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ.

00:22:36
Speaker 2: He'll make them pay.

00:22:38
Speaker 1: Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.

00:22:41
Speaker 3: Here's my Joe. Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio.

00:22:44
Speaker 4: If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, text machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five four uh one person rights, Matt, You guys don't worry about if they got it wrong.

00:22:55
Speaker 3: You've got many recruits wrong in the past. I don't think that's true that well. I don't think so.

00:23:01
Speaker 4: I mean because I rarely say somebody's definitely coming, because they will change their mind.

00:23:06
Speaker 3: I mean, like the Freeman ransick thing.

00:23:09
Speaker 4: I wrote that UK can have either one of them in the next thirty six hours or can have one of the two, and that was true, and then they they fumbled it, right, So like that can happen.

00:23:19
Speaker 3: I understand that.

00:23:20
Speaker 4: But like that's why I don't say so and SO is coming because it very the one time I've ever said that was I was very confident the Harrison twins were coming for reasons that I'll say one day in my retirement book.

00:23:32
Speaker 3: But you know, you just gotta be careful because things can all things can all change.

00:23:38
Speaker 6: Do you regret it? Right?

00:23:40
Speaker 4: No, No, you don't need to regret it. I'm giving you partially a hard time. We'll see what We'll see what happens, all right. So the Tyron Stokes thing, it was so he gets a tattoo, it's all Louisville stuff. It's the Courier Journal article, it's momaed Ali five two.

00:23:57
Speaker 3: And he's watching an old UK game in the background. That's what's crazy to me.

00:24:02
Speaker 4: I mean, I will say if he ends up not coming here after watching a UK game in the background out a picture, that's gonna be like, are you kidding me? But I will say to you. I said this the other day and it's one hundred percent true. UK still thinks they can get him. Like this is not like I know that no one in the recruiting world thinks that. And I'm not saying they're getting him because I have no idea. I have no but I can tell you for a fact that UK still thinks they have a very good shot and they are still like doing everything they can, to the point that they're still chatter about them saving that other coaching spot for potentially if they get like that's all still out there. That's awesome to hear, But that doesn't mean they're getting him. But I just UK has not given up now. They haven't read things the best recently, so I'm not saying that they know, but they haven't given up on it.

00:24:56
Speaker 7: Like I said, awesome to hear, because a lot of the national pundits have him trending back towards can so to hear, maybe the Kentucky fields still pretty good about where they are with him. I can see him getting the five O two tattoom. He if he grew up in Littleville, he's got little ties. Why not. But playing that Kentucky game in the background.

00:25:12
Speaker 3: That's I mean, that's a pretty strong move.

00:25:15
Speaker 4: If you play the Kentucky game in the background and then you don't pick Kentucky. Yeah, that would be a pretty strong move. So, so Owen County is here. They have a they have a regular newscast. I'm told right, anchors are sitting over here. They have they have a hot hot seat segment where they put someone on the hot seat. Yes, we may bring that host on here to put us on the hot seat. Second eyes and see if Owen County can put us on the hot seat.

00:25:43
Speaker 3: I like that.

00:25:43
Speaker 7: They've got different little segments they do in their newscast. They do it every Monday morning. So yeah, the hot seat segments kind of like the uh what was that newspaper article call we like so much back in the day.

00:25:51
Speaker 4: Uh, speak your peace, speak your piece. Yeah, speak your piece, Shannon. You remember speak your pee in the Mountain Eagle. You could just call and leave a message and whatever you say they'd printed in the newspaper.

00:26:01
Speaker 2: You remember, I once called in and got in on speaker piece.

00:26:04
Speaker 4: Speaker piece was a great thing, awesome. The Mountain Eagle was what it was in in Whitesburg. That's right, Shannon, This feels like a quick question for you. Mike Rabel, the coach of Tennessee, if you remember there were pictures of him holding hands with a woman that wasn't his wife, that's a reporter dying and Roussini they had interlocking fingers. They said, hey, nothing was happening here. We were each with our friends and we were hanging out at the pool. So apparently people say, all right, where are your friends? We saw no pictures of the friends zero. Yesterday even more pictures came out of them eating breakfast together and sitting close with each other.

00:26:43
Speaker 3: A couple things here.

00:26:44
Speaker 4: First of all, Shannon, clearly that was a private investigator right there with all of those pictures.

00:26:49
Speaker 3: That had to be a private investigator.

00:26:51
Speaker 2: Probably hired by one of their significant others.

00:26:53
Speaker 3: You think it was hired by one of their spouse Yes, yes.

00:26:56
Speaker 4: I think that's gotta be what it is, too, because there's no way somebody has that many pictures zoomed in from.

00:27:02
Speaker 3: That far away.

00:27:03
Speaker 2: Who's following around Mike Rabel and who cares?

00:27:06
Speaker 4: They're not famous enough to be followed around by paparazzi. That's a private vesta, yes, Okay, So Rassini resigns for her job. Mike Vrabel comes out today in a weird statement, says he's going to skip day three of the draft, not day one and two, day three of the draft to go get counseling and to work on his marriage. So, Shannon, I find that to be the most bizarre result of possible. Okay, if you need counseling, why are you waiting till.

00:27:40
Speaker 3: Day three of the draft?

00:27:42
Speaker 4: And if you're going to get counseling on day three, why not just wait till the draft is over and go the day after? Shannon, that day three of the draft is the weirdest result that could be, isn't it?

00:27:53
Speaker 3: Yeah?

00:27:53
Speaker 1: First of all, if you're being drafted on day three, your head coach is telling you you don't matter. And then secondly, yeah, can the guy not wait just a couple of more days? Is the urge to cheat on your wife again so that you can't wait till after Sunday?

00:28:06
Speaker 4: Like I would understand if he goes I'm stepping away right now, But no, I'm gonna be here for a couple of days, yes, and then I'm gonna step away.

00:28:16
Speaker 6: Some plan for day three?

00:28:18
Speaker 4: Do you think he had a date Saturday night, and he's trying to skip it, Like what what?

00:28:22
Speaker 3: What is that?

00:28:23
Speaker 7: Day three is Saturday?

00:28:25
Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying, So why is he That makes no sense to me.

00:28:30
Speaker 4: I've got to get counseling to work on my marriage, but it doesn't have to start till day three of the draft.

00:28:35
Speaker 6: What's going on on day three?

00:28:36
Speaker 3: I don't do you?

00:28:37
Speaker 6: Do you know something?

00:28:38
Speaker 9: Plan?

00:28:39
Speaker 7: It's like he's saying, I kind of need counseling, but I don't really need counseling, So I'm just gonna do day three on a Saturday. But he's gonna go dude.

00:28:46
Speaker 4: So there's no doubt these two at this point, Shannon, there's no doubt they had a thing.

00:28:50
Speaker 2: Yeah, you don't get counseling if you're just hanging out with friends.

00:28:53
Speaker 3: They had a thing.

00:28:54
Speaker 2: You're admitting that you have a thing.

00:28:56
Speaker 3: It yes and worse, and it made it worse.

00:28:59
Speaker 6: They have right, They got a date set up.

00:29:02
Speaker 4: And I hate this because Dayne Rossini used to come on my radio show like she's never been anything but nice to me. Like on the ESPN she was on with us those first couple of years, she'd be on with us every single week so like I like her, I got nothing against her, but they couldn't have handled this more poorly.

00:29:17
Speaker 3: No, because nobody is holding fingers.

00:29:20
Speaker 4: With someone that's not there like that, that's not You don't do that with somebody unless you have a.

00:29:25
Speaker 1: Thin CALIPERI didn't hold hands.

00:29:28
Speaker 4: No, No, I mean I have seen Alan Cutler and Billy Gillespie.

00:29:32
Speaker 3: They held fingers one time. But I mean clearly they had a thing, right.

00:29:37
Speaker 7: There's no doubt. And obviously one of their spouses was in on it or knew they were. Their spouse was about to meet somebody in Sedona at this.

00:29:44
Speaker 4: Resort, hired the private follow him around and it worked, and it worked, and then they sold the pitch pictures to the New York Post.

00:29:52
Speaker 7: Wow.

00:29:52
Speaker 3: So all right, who's up next.

00:29:54
Speaker 2: Let's go to Paul.

00:29:55
Speaker 3: Paul, Go ahead, Paul, Yes, go ahead?

00:30:00
Speaker 10: Hello, Hello, yeah, so yeah yeah. Let's just make sure you heard me. I didn't. I want to talk about the Barnhart situation. I don't want to comment on how they handled it. I want to speak to somebody who worked under four ADS. I did two different stints at UK Athletics under four ADS, starting with Cliff Hagen. Great guy okay, C. M. Newton, great guy, Larry Ivy, good guy. Then we come to Mitch Barnhart. So when Mitch Barnhart, what he took over is a one trick pony athletic department UK basketball one. The other teams were mediocre to lousy. Facilities were average, two, pathetic to non existent. What Mitch Barnhardt did was borderline miraculous. He did more than the other three previous ads combined times a thousand to build UK athletics across the board. I've heard you talk about this, MITCHI yeah, I.

00:31:04
Speaker 3: Hang on just second, sir. I agree with all of that.

00:31:07
Speaker 4: Mitch Martinheart was a great athletic director who made University of Kentucky. I think that's right, from a one trick pony school to a school that won a national championship in volleyball, became competitive in football, good in women's basketball, good in track.

00:31:23
Speaker 3: I mean, you can go through the sports. No one would dispute all of that.

00:31:28
Speaker 4: Where my issue is is how it ended and specifically how this contract happened, and those two things are not mutually exclusive. We live in this world where we seem to suggest that you either have to when you support someone, you have to support every single thing they do. You have to ride or die no matter what. Or if you like someone, you cannot criticize them. I just refused to live in that. He was a wonderful ad. But this deal at the end stunk to high heaven and shouldn't have happened.

00:32:01
Speaker 10: Let me ask you this, Matt, considering what he did, considering the millions and millions and millions of dollars that he brought in, He built, that was his job.

00:32:10
Speaker 3: He was paid for that, that was his job. That's what he was paid for while he did it.

00:32:15
Speaker 4: I do not believe, listen, I do not believe that at the end, if this deal was so good, sir, then why did they have to hide it and throw and not get approval.

00:32:27
Speaker 3: Why did they have to do it in a back room?

00:32:29
Speaker 4: Why if it was so good, somebody is to disinfected, then put it out in the public, let everyone know, let the board of trustees vote.

00:32:38
Speaker 3: On it, and then that's that.

00:32:40
Speaker 10: Okay, that's that's a good question. But I would like to ask you another one. Given that everything he did, does it not make perfect sense to keep him in the fold to retirement.

00:32:51
Speaker 3: We don't even know what is. But we don't even know what his job is.

00:32:54
Speaker 4: They created a job that at this point they created the head of an institute that doesn't even exist.

00:33:03
Speaker 3: And when you ask.

00:33:04
Speaker 4: People in the job description, they couldn't even say what it is. They were like, he's gonna help create sports jobs.

00:33:12
Speaker 3: What does that even mean? Like that doesn't even mean anything. So and then when he.

00:33:18
Speaker 4: Was asked about it, he was like, yeah, I don't worry, I'm not gonna be around athletics.

00:33:21
Speaker 3: But then the athletic department is paying for it? What does that mean?

00:33:25
Speaker 4: And then they switched later and said the undergrad the regular university was gonna pay for it. But then at the same time they're cutting money from other parts of the university.

00:33:34
Speaker 3: It just stunk.

00:33:36
Speaker 4: And so again that doesn't mean he wasn't a great ID, but he can be a great AD and this deal can still stink.

00:33:43
Speaker 3: Both of those things can be true.

00:33:46
Speaker 10: Yes, I would agree, But my point is, would you not want to keep a guy who did that much and is that talented? Would you not want to keep him around? And would you not give him the money he made? Want to pay him a good amount of money?

00:34:00
Speaker 3: Is no? So to answer your question.

00:34:02
Speaker 4: No, Like I I John cal Perry was a good coach here, but if he retires, that doesn't mean you just keep him around to do a job that has nothing to do with coaching. They were gonna have Mitch partnhert do a job that wasn't athletic department.

00:34:15
Speaker 3: I don't.

00:34:16
Speaker 4: I mean, do you like he's essentially was gonna come become a career counselor do you think career counselors deserve a million dollars a year and ten season tickets to every game?

00:34:33
Speaker 10: Uh? Well, you know you've got details that I wasn't aware of, So I can't I can't say that. I really can't address it. Given what you're saying, it doesn't sound like it does. It doesn't sound like it makes a lot of sense.

00:34:46
Speaker 3: Yeah, that was my only point.

00:34:49
Speaker 10: Okay, well, yeah, I just one more thing that I'm just wondering. The other The other factor is you had this guy, this booster I can't think of his name, who kind of blew the whole thing up from my perspective, who you know, kind of gets with a reporter, by the way.

00:35:06
Speaker 3: As we're speaking, just released another article in the Herald Leader he did.

00:35:10
Speaker 10: Yes, Well, there you go. So so one final question to you, do you think it's appropriate to have some you know, fat wallet booster be able to come along? And I think it is, as is going to hire.

00:35:25
Speaker 4: Here's what I would say to you. Do I think boosters should get to decide everything that happens at UK?

00:35:31
Speaker 3: Not at all.

00:35:32
Speaker 4: But do I think a person that has donated to UK has the right to publicly speak out about a contract they think is wrong?

00:35:40
Speaker 3: Yes, just the same way I do.

00:35:42
Speaker 4: I mean, if I can talk about it, and Ryan can talk about it, and Mario can talk about it, then why can't Brett Setzer.

00:35:50
Speaker 3: Talk about it? You can talk about it.

00:35:52
Speaker 4: Sir, like it like everyone should get to have a voice on it.

00:35:56
Speaker 10: Matt, let me ask you this. Do you think there could have been friction between him and Mitch and this was? I'm sure there was.

00:36:04
Speaker 4: But let me tell you a general rule I have that I think applies to this. It applies to Basher's comment, by the way, it applies to a lot of people. Don't judge people's motives because we'll never really.

00:36:16
Speaker 3: Know what they are. Judge their actions, right.

00:36:20
Speaker 4: I'm not saying anybody's motive is pure judge their actions. So is Brett Setzer's motive pure?

00:36:26
Speaker 3: I don't know.

00:36:27
Speaker 4: I don't know Brett, but is his argument wrong? I would argue his argument was correct.

00:36:35
Speaker 10: Well, okay, I still think all right, thank you, Matt.

00:36:39
Speaker 3: Appreciate the call. Does that make sense? Like, did Basher release that statement for political reasons?

00:36:45
Speaker 7: Yeah?

00:36:45
Speaker 3: Probably? But is his argument wrong?

00:36:48
Speaker 7: No?

00:36:49
Speaker 6: No, you know.

00:36:52
Speaker 4: I'll give you example in politics, Donald Trump. I don't trust his motives on anything, but if he does something I agree with, with, who cares about his motives?

00:37:02
Speaker 3: It's that you agree with what he's doing.

00:37:05
Speaker 4: Yes, right, if we only judge people's motives when we don't like him, we'll just dismiss everything they do.

00:37:11
Speaker 3: And I don't think that's right.

00:37:13
Speaker 7: I'm okay actually with the motive of giving Mitch Barnhardt some sort of a bonus for his service. He made not that big of a bonus, and I would have had a press commerce to take questions on the bonus. But I'm actually okay. Give him a little party gift, maybe not this big.

00:37:31
Speaker 3: Isn't your parting gift that you worked there for?

00:37:33
Speaker 4: I mean, if they want to give him a watch, that's fine, But why not, but ten tickets.

00:37:37
Speaker 7: For life, Yeah, a watch and a couple of tickets to the soccer game. Maybe something like that.

00:37:41
Speaker 4: Hey, April is Pad adoption drive days at Don Franklin. For every new vehicle sold, Ryan, Don Franklin is going to donate fifty dollars to local Kentucky animal shelters.

00:37:50
Speaker 7: That's awesome.

00:37:51
