Speaker 1: You are listening to The Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio.

00:00:04
Speaker 2: Final Hour on this Meet Friday. The menu, it's a kids menu after they complained about last week's Meet Friday. We have the Dino Nugget Volcano. We've got chicken fingers, SpongeBob mac and cheese, cut up hot dogs, and a sippy cup with chocolate milk. Ooh, has it better than we do?

00:00:24
Speaker 3: No body, No.

00:00:27
Speaker 2: Stat of the Day, brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards The Dan Patrick Show. Former Syracuse head coach Jim Maheim will join us momentarily, but joining us now the man of the hour or hours. He is the man who is the second most points in NBA history in a game. Bam, out of bio joining us on the program. Bam, thanks for joining us. What part of your body hurt the most after the eighty three point game?

00:00:52
Speaker 4: Ooh uh the arms for sure, mister shoulder.

00:00:59
Speaker 2: From shooting. Yes, you got a ice down the shoulder like a pitcher does after you know, throwing seven innings.

00:01:08
Speaker 5: Yeah, I had to get in the ice bath.

00:01:10
Speaker 2: And really, uh, what did you think pre game? Did you think anything pre game differently than any other game? You've had in your career.

00:01:22
Speaker 4: Uh I knew we needed to win that game because we've we've been in this playing situation for the last three four years, and.

00:01:34
Speaker 5: Going into the game, you know, we got most of our.

00:01:37
Speaker 4: Starters out Andrew Wiggins, Norman Powell, Tyler, hero khalil Ware. Uh So it's only two starters in our bench mob basically, And we know how those games can get because with the Miami Heat, we've beaten the number one teams in both conferences, but we all we've also lost to both of the worst teams in both conferences. So you can see how that game can be tricky for us, and we just needed to win.

00:02:14
Speaker 2: Why does it feel like people want you to apologize for scoring eighty three points?

00:02:23
Speaker 5: Probably because I wasn't part of the agenda.

00:02:27
Speaker 4: You know, it wasn't it shocked the world because it wasn't somebody who they glorify as a score, as somebody who can get that record. And I feel like that's what shook the world. And also they're gonna say that I shot X amount of free throws.

00:02:49
Speaker 2: But once you realized that they were going to foul you, that that became the offense. You're just like they're gonna faul me, so I'm going to take itage to this.

00:03:02
Speaker 4: It wasn't even they were gonna fil me. It was more so like I'm being aggressive. I'm trying to get I'm trying to I'm trying to score buckets.

00:03:12
Speaker 5: That's what I'm trying to. I'm trying to get buckets.

00:03:14
Speaker 4: It's not uh And they just kept following me. Like I said, there were no other of my starters out there, so it was just me.

00:03:28
Speaker 2: When you got to eighty one, what were you thinking.

00:03:32
Speaker 4: I gotta make these next two free throws because if I'm missing myself.

00:03:38
Speaker 2: But no thought of Kobe, who was one of your idols. Did you ever think of stopping at eighty one?

00:03:46
Speaker 4: No, because I know if it was the other way around, Kobe would have been like I'm shooting or whatever I can. I And to be in conversation as your idol is what to.

00:04:04
Speaker 5: Me makes it.

00:04:07
Speaker 4: It gives me one of those things where I'm appreciative of it because it's my idol. It's somebody who I grew up watching the game like I grew up watching him, like understanding what he's still for and that man was he will tell you I'm chasing Jordan. Whatever record he's trying to get, I'm trying to break it. Uh.

00:04:32
Speaker 5: And obviously, you know I got the opportunity to do that.

00:04:38
Speaker 2: And I think because people love Kobe so much that bothered them more that who were you to do that to our Kobe? And here he is your idol? And I just and you're right, there's no way Kobe would say, hey, you got to eighty one. Stop. He'd be like, no, keep going, go for ninety if you can. I mean, that was his mentality exactly.

00:05:04
Speaker 4: And like I said, if the dead could talk, I would I firmly believe he'd be like, congratulations, young fella, Like you did something I thought nobody could could even reach for the next forty fifty years.

00:05:24
Speaker 2: Do you remember the first time you met Kobe?

00:05:27
Speaker 5: Never met him? That is the other thing, never met him, never met him. So that is.

00:05:35
Speaker 4: That is another reason why it's so special to me, because I never got to meet him. Like the one time I thought I was gonna meet him was it was my first All Star. I was like, if I make All Star this year, I might get to meet Kobe. And obviously the tragedy happened, and I remember where I was. I remember just sitting there and just started crying because I was like.

00:06:01
Speaker 5: I was like, bro, like.

00:06:04
Speaker 4: You know, from from a from player standpoint, you know how we all appreciate that man for what he's done for the game, for what he's done for people's mentality to him creating a mama mentality was like keep pushing forward.

00:06:21
Speaker 5: So I was heartbroken because I was like, I really wanted to meet my idol. At some point.

00:06:28
Speaker 2: Talking to Bam out of bio fresh off of eighty three point per port, well, I mean last night you only got twenty one. I mean, what happened?

00:06:40
Speaker 4: Trying to figure out how you can redoce something like that?

00:06:47
Speaker 5: That's hard to it's hard to keep up.

00:06:50
Speaker 4: And nobody talks about the next game because it's funny because when I go back and look at what he did afterwards, he also had.

00:07:00
Speaker 5: A type of game like it was like it wasn't eighty one, Yeah.

00:07:04
Speaker 2: You had thirty. How important was it to have your mom there.

00:07:12
Speaker 4: Man, To have my mom there, to have my people there, to do it at home in front of our home crowd.

00:07:22
Speaker 5: It's a moment none of us will ever forget. And to be there, to be.

00:07:26
Speaker 4: In the building to have my mom there, Like I said, like, she's my pride and Doug a lot of this I do for her and for her to you know, see that her son put itself in history. I know she's full of joy and that's something she'll always talk about.

00:07:49
Speaker 2: What does your girlfriend do better than you? On the basketball floor?

00:07:52
Speaker 5: Asia Wilson, everything, every thing, you know, she can do literally anything.

00:08:03
Speaker 4: And also having her in the building was special because she was mad because I got my ten thousand points while she was on her tour and obviously to do that while she's sitting course, I was.

00:08:17
Speaker 5: It was a special moment for us.

00:08:19
Speaker 2: I think her career highs fifty three.

00:08:23
Speaker 5: That's a lot of buckets still.

00:08:27
Speaker 2: But let's be honest. I think I could get I think I get ten points off the Wizards.

00:08:33
Speaker 4: Oh listen, Like I said it, everybody wants to be mad at me, be mad, be mad at their coach for not doubling me when I had thirty in a quarter.

00:08:49
Speaker 5: You know my.

00:08:51
Speaker 2: Problem with this, And I keep telling people in my audience, you had sixty after three quarters. Nobody was complaining about how you were playing or they were playing. Then all of a sudden, it's like, oh, you know, he's embarrassing or they're embarrassing the game. I said, what happened the first three quarters? When you put up what sixty four points? I mean, that's what people have to you know, let's look at the entire game, not just the last five minutes where it got a little silly or got out of hand. How do you respond?

00:09:21
Speaker 4: So and also their coach started filing my teammates so I couldn't I couldn't shoot free throws. So it wasn't like it was just like all the Miami Heat are just shit in the game away.

00:09:36
Speaker 5: That's not what it was.

00:09:37
Speaker 4: It was also them being like, in order for Bam not to get this record, we're just gonna file his other teammates when they touched the ball.

00:09:45
Speaker 5: That's unethical basketball.

00:09:46
Speaker 4: To me, It's like whatever y'all want to call it, but yeah, people are going to try.

00:09:54
Speaker 5: What I did out there was special to me and everybody.

00:09:57
Speaker 4: Who knows likew hard our work behind the scenes, like to see me put on that type of performance. To have sixty four and three quarters is insane. And the thing that people forget, like they cut the lead to like eleven in the fourth quarter. So it wasn't like we were up thirty the whole quarter where everybody's just saying, oh, they were up thirty. No, they cut the lead to like thirteen to eleven at one point in the fourth quarter, so I had to play. And because nobody watches us until that moment, we've had twenty point leads in the fourth quarter and lost the game. What do y'all want.

00:10:41
Speaker 5: Us to do?

00:10:45
Speaker 2: The uniform? Go to the Hall of Fame?

00:10:48
Speaker 4: Uh not yet it's on the way though, it hasn't got there yet.

00:10:54
Speaker 2: Wait what are you waiting for?

00:10:57
Speaker 4: I mean, I gotta ship it, Dan, I mean what you want me to do?

00:11:03
Speaker 5: You still got.

00:11:07
Speaker 2: You can that's not a big deal. You got people. You got people who have people who can do this for you. Don't give it back, right right.

00:11:15
Speaker 5: It is just a special moment.

00:11:16
Speaker 2: By the way, I have Kobe autograph, Jersey, and I have your autograph Jersey. Really yeah, yeah, yep, even yours. What you didn't know if I knew who you were?

00:11:35
Speaker 3: Yeah?

00:11:36
Speaker 5: Man, you know is this.

00:11:39
Speaker 2: Bam? I'm a baller?

00:11:42
Speaker 5: So what's your career?

00:11:43
Speaker 2: Hotting thirty six?

00:11:48
Speaker 4: Listen, it's a lot of people I credit that it's a lot of people that's done score thirty six before, but.

00:11:55
Speaker 2: That was before the three point shots. So let's tackle on fourteen more so, probably a fifty burger.

00:12:03
Speaker 5: I respect it.

00:12:04
Speaker 2: I'm kind of I was kind of like Tyler Hero before Tyler Hero.

00:12:09
Speaker 5: Mm oh, you were a bucket getter. Huh.

00:12:13
Speaker 2: Yep that's what I was. Yep, that's what the ladies called me. Bucket getter.

00:12:18
Speaker 5: Bucket getter A iright, Okay, Dad.

00:12:23
Speaker 2: Don't leave me open, man, That's all I'm gonna say. Do not leave me open. Problem is I couldn't get open, but if you did leave me open, I was gonna make it. I'm not going to pass. I'm not playing defense. I'm just letting you know.

00:12:36
Speaker 5: Okay, okay, just like Tyler.

00:12:42
Speaker 2: Yes, that's it. That's all I'm gonna do. How mad is Tyler Hero? That you got the record and you know that seemed like he would be a guy who would be able to get eighty three. He's gonna be.

00:12:53
Speaker 5: Upset, honestly, man.

00:12:57
Speaker 4: I think all my teammates was happy for me, because, like I said, performances that we as the Miami he haven't seen like as much as we want to talk about all the greats that's been there, like it was something that like people weren't prepared for. Yeah, and that's why I think a lot of Like I said, I think a lot of people are shocked by it because I wasn't the quote unquote anointed one where it was like he can be the one to do it.

00:13:32
Speaker 2: By the way you play the Wizards April fourth.

00:13:38
Speaker 4: I probably would get trouble team when I touched the ball. I probably I probably would happen.

00:13:47
Speaker 2: You know what, You could get fifty against the Wizards the next time, and it might be a subpar performance.

00:13:53
Speaker 5: Yeah, people are gonna call me trash if I get fifty.

00:14:00
Speaker 2: Man, I be proud. You have every right to be proud. And uh, it's an incredible performance. And I don't care who you surpassed. You still put up eighty three, and you're right. Kobe'd probably say, you go, man, you go. Don't stop at eighty three, But congrats.

00:14:20
Speaker 5: I appreciate that. Damn man.

00:14:22
Speaker 4: Congrats with your thirty six too, with no three point line. Three point line is a lot of buk.

00:14:30
Speaker 5: Yeah, that's that's.

00:14:33
Speaker 2: Thirty two minute game. So I'm basically at more than a point a minute.

00:14:40
Speaker 5: Listen. You're in the history books, Dan.

00:14:42
Speaker 4: Listen, I'm rooting for you.

00:14:45
Speaker 2: You're in the history. This is about you. It's not about me any other day, any other week. It's about me. This this is about you. But uh, congratulations us about it. Thank you, bam, thank you. That's a bam out of Bayo. That's just two great scorers talking right there. That's what that is. Now, I've got a good approach and I'll be proud of it. Now they're just going to be people. Yeah, it's that's social media. Of course. They're going to come after him a little bit. All righty Uh. We go from a guy who was in a good mood to a guy that I never know if he's in a good mood. Jim Beheim. We'll talk some college basketball with him. Coming up next, This is the Dan Patrick Show.

00:17:01
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's leftover makeup, leftover makeup. And also I was home retired for a week and Julie said, no, no, you need to get a job one week. I mean I needed a week. Uh.

00:17:17
Speaker 2: We just had bam out of Baio on after scoring eighty three. Whoever you make of that performance, Yeah, I mean he's.

00:17:24
Speaker 3: A really good player, probably one of the not in the top fifty that ever score eighty three points. But you know, you get things going. These are these are all great players up there. And you know, I'm convinced that a joke. As you know, he gets forty with fifteen assists. I mean, if he wanted to score eighty, I think he could. I think maybe Shay could. But you know those guys they do other stuff too. I mean it's great to see that. Those performances are great to see. I remember watching Kobe get the eighty three and think.

00:18:00
Speaker 2: Wow, that housekeeping, that housekeeping.

00:18:03
Speaker 3: I forgot that do not the sign? And you know that doc on Dorry. A little bit is extra. It's a little extra for our show here, you know, we get an extra.

00:18:13
Speaker 2: Yeah, got about a twenty second time out. You could tell her to come back.

00:18:18
Speaker 3: Shoot, they went away.

00:18:19
Speaker 5: They go there good?

00:18:22
Speaker 2: How much more?

00:18:22
Speaker 3: Mean?

00:18:23
Speaker 2: Like did Carmelo have.

00:18:26
Speaker 3: You know pretty much whatever? He would not take bad shots, so he pretty much had it. Jerry McNamara pretty much had it. The guys that can really shoot, you want him to shoot. You want them to feel comfortable shooting. I think that's one thing where Patino does as being the great coach he is. He gives his players the freedom to play offense. You want them to have that freedom. Not everybody can get that freedom, but the guys that should and usually the players on the team know that anyway. Except that, but uh, yeah, I come out to shoot when he as long as he was on the court, he could shoot. Yeah someplace.

00:19:03
Speaker 2: Speaking of Jerry McNamara, you're going to campaign for him to take over at Syracuse.

00:19:09
Speaker 3: Well, I'm not the athletic We have a new athletic director who I think is really good and I think he'll make a good decision. I think it's a good job. I think there's good candidates. Jerry went from four to twenty eight programsc enter to the NCAA tournament in the second year with two of his best players out for the year. So I mean, yeah, he's a candidate for any job in the country. But that's up to the athletic director. And I do have a little office there. It's not it's kind of hidd in someplace candidates to the closet, But I hope he'll get consideration. They'll come up with the best candidate. It doesn't have to be a Syracuse guy or a non Syracuse guy. It has to be who's the best. Who's the best coach that can help us? And obviously Adrian, you know, did as good a job as good. I mean, you have to have ANIL money. If you look at the ACC or any league in the country, the top four teams have the most UNIL money. That's and they're good coaches too, but they have nil money. And you have to get there in this day and age. I don't think it'll change anytime soon. But that's the bottom line. Syracuse shall get a really good basketball coach.

00:20:20
Speaker 2: I believe, what kind of money do you need to compete at the top of the ACC?

00:20:26
Speaker 3: Ten million? Ten million basketball is right. I mean you could do it with eight or something maybe if you get lucky. Also, you could have ten and not do it. There's programs that have ten and don't do it. There's programs that have spent fifteen or twenty and are not doing well. I mean, you still got to coach. You still got to get the right players. Indiana is the greatest example, Indiana football of you know, a great coach getting the right guys, not all four stars, but you know, good players and get them into a system. Vanderbilt basketball, same thing, did a great job this year. And it's they got the money, they have a good coach. It's it's it can be done, and it can. The good thing about you do it in one year. And you know, everybody criticizes the portal, and obviously there's a lot not to like about the portal ind nil, but there's forty Europeans over here are really good players because of NIL. There's forty seniors that are staying in college because of NIL. So you look at the product out there, it's good basketball. This is the best basketball it's been in a while, really since the portal opened, when it was all guys leaving early. Guys aren't leaving early anymore because they know they're they're not going to get the chance of being the G League or something. So that helped Cows basketball. It'd be better if we we get to the point we have a salary cap, we have contracts, and you know, all that stuff that's gonna happen, you know, and you need some kind of cap. They have it in the pro leagues, and we're pro league. It's pro best, pro bests. We're pro football, colleges, pro sports. I mean, I'm hearing soccer players, a volleyball player got three hundred thousand dollars someplace where. Did we you know, in the beginning, we thought that that would be the total amount of money. Your whole team would get maybe a couple hundred thousand. But obviously when you get boosters in about they want to win, and the boosters with big money, it's it's a drop in the bucket for some of them. So we are where we're at. But we got a great game as far as on the court, I mean, Florida State gave Duke everything they wanted last night. Probably could have won easily or not easily, but they could have won. And you know, we had a great game in North Carolina coming back, and you know, I mean we've had great games in the tournament, and I think that's a reflection of what's going to happen in the NCAA tournament. And by the way, Miamu, Ohio has got to be in the tournament. I mean, the people that are talking about that are just crazy. No, they wouldn't be at the top of a conference, but they could be in the mix in a conference. But that's not the point. They won thirty one straight games. I saw him play eight times. I doubt if there's any coach or any pundit out there who saw Miami Gohaw play eight times and they are a good team. Are they going to beat Florida? No, I mean they're not beating floor. Those days are over. That good mid major school is not going to the Final four unless something just crazy happens. The teams at the top are just they're just too good.

00:23:32
Speaker 2: Talking to Jim Beheim, of course, Hall of Famer and he's working with the ACC Network. The role of a coach now compared to ten years ago.

00:23:42
Speaker 3: Well it's completely different. You have to recruit the players, and you have to figure out your salary structure, how much money you have for each player, and who you can get, who you can't get, and some of that's a guessing game. Agents are I'll tell you this, My player's worth a million dollars. He can get a million dollars over here.

00:24:04
Speaker 5: Well he can't.

00:24:05
Speaker 3: I mean, but you don't know that, you know, so you have to kind of guess and plan and then once you get your team, the good news is you have summers now to kind of get them ready, so you can get a completely new group ready. You know, Ryan Oldham was Virginia all new players. They're in the top ten to fifteen in the country. Arizona mostly all new player, not all, but mostly new. We look around the Michigan mostly all new. So yeah, you could put a team together. And I laugh a little bit when fans sometimes say, well, I don't know the players, so I don't know if I like that. Well, if the players come in at whatever school and win, the fans will like the team. You know, Virginia's fans were all here. You know, why are they They didn't know any of these guys last year. But they're winning in sports Dan as you know in broadcasts, and you win, you keep your job, and you know, that's the bottom line, and fans will come to games if you win. But yeah, and that's where we are in college basketball, and you know, but we need to get some structure. But a coach has to make sure you can do that, and then obviously he's got to put your team together, and coaches can do that. I mean, it's we used to have a couple veterans returning, but some years we only had one or two veterans and three or four new players. I got lucky and won the national championship with two freshmen being the two best players on the team. Now freshmen can't except for that rare ten. This is an unbelievable freshman class. But a normal freshman class, there's probably five or six guys that could really help right away. The rest are not ready to go against seniors, so transfer portal seniors. But this freshman classes, I don't rate them that much. I don't study, but it's got to be as good as any I can remember in terms of helment. I mean, it's an incredible class.

00:26:04
Speaker 2: You still in favor of expanding the tournament to ninety six teams.

00:26:08
Speaker 3: I'll just explain this one more time. It doesn't have to be ninety six, but we can go to another two sites like Dayton. Go to two more sites and you get done the same timeframe, and you can have the teams playing closer to home. And you have to remember there's two things that are important. Number One, we don't have the best sixty eight teams in the field. All right, we have automatic qualifiers who are not in the best sixty eight in the country. So you're leaving out teams in the top fifty or so in the country with the system we have now, I'm not saying those teams shouldn't be in. They should. Let's let them go. They're not going to win anymore, but let them in. But you add six, eight, ten, whatever number it is. You make ten or twelve fan bases happy, you make fifty twelve players happy, and you make coaches secure in their job. Tournament whether it's expanded or not, and unless you're at a couple of places, but you're in the tournament, and what have you lost? After one week? You have a better field than you had before because the weaker teams are all going to be out, the better teams are going to be in. And you haven't deluded the tournament. You've made the tournament better because you have better teams in the tournament and more players and more fans and more coaches are in the tournament. What's to not like about that?

00:27:32
Speaker 5: Hey?

00:27:33
Speaker 3: I remember John Wooden is a great coach, a great man. He wanted the tournament to stay at twenty four, and he knew what he was doing, right, but they went to forty eight. Tournament got better, right, The tournament's sixty four tournament got better, right, tournament's a sixty eight. Tournament's still getting better. It's not going to get worse. And you're going to add teams players who are good. I mean, we got in one year. We were probably the last team in. We could have been the first team out easily. We went to the final four. So there are teams that are going to get left out that could get going. I mean, Florida State's not going to get in the term. They don't deserve it, but if they played a little better earlier, they can be. Their coach said it, we can beat anybody in the country. I think he's right. They really play good. But that's my feelings. I don't think if you really think it through, you can argue that. The people that say, oh, we can't expand it, they say, well, it's going to dilute the tournament. No, they say, well, you know, bad teams will get it. No they won't. They'll be good. They won't be great, but they'll be good. And the best teams are still going to win at the end, and I think you have another dating weekend. You know, during the weekend someplace you can watch TV. There is no reason not to have it. And I know almost sixty seventy percent of the media is against expanding it. Well, so it was still at twenty four. Most of those guys wouldn't have a job.

00:29:06
Speaker 2: It's rare when you have make a good point, but you did, and you made a very good point there.

00:29:11
Speaker 3: I haven't made a good point at home in years, So I'm glad to make money.

00:29:17
Speaker 2: Before I let you go. Why isn't Sonny Baccaro in the Basketball Hall of Fame as a contributor to the game.

00:29:23
Speaker 3: You know, he's an unbelievable contributor at the game. But it's it's not he's not getting all fame. It's just there's too much around him. He's a good guy, good man. I know him very well. I was making no money. It's Syracuse, and Nike gave me money. Free shoes for all the players, as many as they wanted. We were paying for shoes, free uniforms, free year, free bags. They gave us all that and it helped us. It helped all of us and one of the reasons I stayed at Syracuse so long is because of Nike and what they did for me personally. I didn't have to get it as much from the school, but he he got that going. It was him. The movie is pretty good. He did it. He got all these schools, all these coaches, free stuff, money, all that stuff that the schools didn't have to provide. I mean, it's a win win. I remember if somebody asked me once, don't you feel bad, you know, taking my night? No, my players love Nike. Now, if the players didn't like the sneakers, that would have been a problem. But they all liked it. They all want to wear Nikes, and we got they got ten pairs. I paid for my second pair of shoes when I played at third I paid for it. I said, well I did my father. Did you know that's what we got? One pair of shoes for the year, and you know that was it. Now the players get all this stuff, and who wants to argue about that. I mean, I say, Phil Knight of ring National Championship Rank and be honest with it. I'm proud to say it. He allowed me to say at certain so yeah, I mean.

00:31:04
Speaker 5: Sunday.

00:31:04
Speaker 3: Pacero did a lot of that. I mean it was him. He Phil Knight let it happen and backed it. But Sonny Pacero did that, and he was great with youth basketball getting his seeing the Nike Camp All American Camp, that's where you saw all these players and you got to recruit nationwide because you didn't have to go to California to see a kid. You can go to wherever Sunny was having this camp. We saw STEVIEE. Thompson there, we saw La ron Ellis, we saw all these guys. So we never recruit those guys. It wasn't for Sonny pacerrol in his camp all the best players in the country with I mean I saw Lebron James play against Carmelo and all this these guys in one place on one plane ticket. Instead of going to thirty different places to see the thirty players I needed to see, I can see them all on one weekend. And so I mean, he did a lot for the game. I personally think he's a really really great person who has been great for players and coaches. And there's really no negative with Sunny for me that I've ever seen. And he's had a huge influence on the game of basketball. It's hard to get in the Hall of Fame. There's so many constituencies that make up to get seven. Eight guys goes college. I know, I know high school coaches that should be in, you know, Gary, Gary mcnited, matter day. I mean, there's a number of high school coaches. Herman Harrida played for me. It's one of about five state championships in Baltimore. I mean, there's a lot of but you know, there's so many people that have to get in the Hall of Fame. And Jerry Claso has done a great job keeping the Hall of Fame going. We're fortunate to have him. And I'm fortunate because he got me three gold medals in the Olympics along with Mike Sizhski, which was there's no experience like coaching your national team to an Olympic gold medal. Standing there and here in the national anthem, there is nothing like that. Standing next to Kobe Bryant and Lebron and the Wayne Wade camel and all those guys. That's a feeling you can't get in life normally.

00:33:22
Speaker 2: Have fun at the tournament. My best your wife, and thanks again for joining as coach.

00:33:27
Speaker 3: Thanks and you know what, we're still here. It's a miracle we're still here and working, both of us.

00:33:33
Speaker 2: Yeah, well, what's a bigger surprise me or you?

00:33:37
Speaker 3: It's a toss up. It's a tossa. I'll give you a little edge. I'll give you a little edge.

00:33:45
Speaker 2: Did you turn eighty eighty one.

00:33:51
Speaker 3: Ticket? The lady said to me, young, old lady said, you're not sixty five, are you? I said, no, I'm not sixty five. I'm eighty one. She didn't want to give you.

00:33:59
Speaker 2: As you could pass for seventy nine. I swear you could pass for seventy nine years.

00:34:07
Speaker 3: A flight attendant told me the other day. One was nice and the other one said, well, you don't look over ninety. So it's just the eye of the beholder.

00:34:16
Speaker 5: You know.

00:34:17
Speaker 3: That's good about it.

00:34:20
Speaker 2: If you wanted disabuse, you could have stayed at home. You didn't need to go out and have somebody else. Thank you again, coach, Thanks to that's a Jim Beayhunt Hall of Famer, always good to reminisce. He looked healthy eighty one years of age. It seemed in good spirits. That happens when you're not coaching anymore. You know, when you get to be a talking hairdoo wearing makeup, it's like, don't have that anymore? All right, last call for phone calls. What we learn, what's in store on Monday, and of course a meet Friday that'll be unveiled. If you're watching on Peacock and NBC Sports Network, We're back after this.

Jay Billis will get us ready to fill out our brackets on Monday and more from the Academy Awards. Kevin Fraser and Michelle Turner as they do as tradition would have it, they will join us to recap the Academy Awards. I thought Dylan did a wonderful job with the menu, especially the Dino nugget volcano that had mashed Potato volcano with gravy lava. You also have the chicken fingers SpongeBob, mac and cheese, cut up hot dogs, and sippy cups with chocolate milk in it. Who has it better than we do? Now?

00:36:00
Speaker 3: No body?

00:36:02
Speaker 2: It didn't sound that enthusiastic. Stat of the Day has been brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of The Dan Patrick Show. David in Ohio, Hi David, thanks for holding What's on your mind today?

00:36:15
Speaker 3: Hey?

00:36:15
Speaker 9: Dan, II ran something by my home office about you might turn the man cave into an airbnb. I wasn't sure if you still were maybe going to do that, and that was it.

00:36:27
Speaker 2: Oh don't I don't know. I just kind of threw it out. My wife wondered what am I going to do, because she said, you can't bring all that memorabilia back in the house. But I don't know if I can use it as a museum or maybe it's an airbnb where you get to come in and spend a couple of days, get to practice being broadcasters, get to shoot hoops, you can grill out if you want to pinball, got an open bar. Sounds like a pretty good gig in the next two years. Edward in el Pa, Thanks so, Hi, Edward, what's on your mind today.

00:37:03
Speaker 10: Hey Dan, I just Dylan sent me an advanced copy of next Friday's menu. I don't know if you've seen it. It's a Mediterranean menu. You start off with massarene, which is a stuffed cow intestine with the rice and meat. Then kimby Nay, which is a raw lamb and rice dish, I mean a lamon wheat dish, and then Hadi si which is like a chicken stew, which is really good.

00:37:31
Speaker 2: Well, thank you, Edward. Probably won't be on the menu next week, but thank you for the suggestions. Mark, and Saint Cloud is back, Hi Mark, Hey Dan.

00:37:42
Speaker 8: First of all, they get a little depressed. They're guys talking about the end of the show and I'm gonna miss you and we need to enjoy you guys while we have you. First of all, I got a poll question. It was supposed to be for hour three, but if they have to wait till next week, who has Fritzy been meaner to Ross Tucker or Nick Wright? And Syracuse basketball the big not good now?

00:38:04
Speaker 2: And I wonder you know Jerry McNamara did a wonderful job at Sienna's coach behind pointed out I think they went from four wins to the NCAA tournament, and there'll be other schools that'll look at him. But you would think that two hour drive to Syracuse, that would make a lot of sense. By the way, the top selling jerseys in the NBA, guys want to take a guess, Number one Marvin number one selling jersey right now in the NBA. Victor Winbin Yama, Victor Winbin Yama. Fourth. Wow, good guess though, fourth guest fourth place. Steph Curry is one, Luca two, Jalen Brunson three, New York Market, Lebron five, Anthony Edwards six. SGA is seventh. Then it's Tatum, Joker, Tyrese MAXI wow, Sga. Well, he's in a smaller market.

00:39:16
Speaker 5: There.

00:39:16
Speaker 2: You got a factor in Luca in a big market, Steph in a biggish market. Jalen brun said, big market, uh Wemby and San Antonio. That says a lot with his popularity. Yes, yes, Marvin.

00:39:29
Speaker 7: DP, I'm not sure if I can go for that. No, can't do well only because SGA's game isn't exciting. I think that's the number one reason why he doesn't why he's not a bigger star. He doesn't have those highlights that are own sports Center. It's him shooting fifteen foot jumpers. He's really efficient, but that's not making sports Center?

00:39:47
Speaker 2: Is he?

00:39:48
Speaker 3: Is?

00:39:48
Speaker 2: He a better version of DeMar de Rosen? Absolutely, and Demarta Rosen has twenty six thousand career points. Right, I don't know how many All Stars he made, but similar game, not relying on the three. But Sga can get to the hoop and mid range jumper, and you're right, that's not gonna move jerseys. Here, let's go around the room, see if we learned anything on the program, Todd, do you learn anything today? I did.

00:40:13
Speaker 7: Bam Adebayo, who never actually met his idol Kobe Bryant, expects to be triple team the next time he plays the Wizards in early April.

00:40:20
Speaker 2: You know the fact he said he cried when he thought he was going to make the All Star team and then he'd get to meet Kobe and never did.

00:40:26
Speaker 11: Seaton O'Connor. The meat Friday menu is just warfare right now. Marvin Seeton got no job offers.

00:40:37
Speaker 2: Yeah, I no, No, nobody's interesting. Bama. Bama is apologizing for nothing. Hope you have a great weekend, everybody. We look forward to talking to on Monday Dan Patrick Show,
