00:00:39
Speaker 3: This ain't Matt Jones. Black Jones is back, baby pilling in in the mix on a not a Merry Monday. I was about to say, marry Monday, Mary Tuesday. Man, What's what I'm trying to think? Like what you call what I should call terrific Tuesday, terrific Tuesday.

00:01:04
Speaker 4: Tickle me Tuesday.

00:01:06
Speaker 3: No, I don't know, now, that's tickle me Tuesday. Sound like an HR problem. I don't want. I don't No, you don't want to encourage tickle me Tuesday. And then they gotta walk. They gotta walk James off the job at noon because he was leaning into it too much. I'll go with terrific Tuesday. How are you fellas doing on this terrific Tuesday? Man, it's good to hear from you again.

00:01:26
Speaker 5: It's been a minute since you've been on the on the show, so we're excited to hear you.

00:01:29
Speaker 4: We're gonna join us again this week.

00:01:31
Speaker 3: Yeah, Man, who do I have? I got? I got my guy Ryan, I got who else? Got?

00:01:35
Speaker 2: Shannon? I'm here?

00:01:36
Speaker 3: Yep?

00:01:37
Speaker 2: Have you been to any waffle Houses lately?

00:01:40
Speaker 3: Let me tell you something. So I spent a week in South Carolina this week, like, and I was doing a peach jam. Yeah right, So I was in South Carolina, Georgia this before week. I just got back yesterday. So like, I don't want to offend anybody, Okay, so let me say that, so you walk can help me, like, be honest with me. Okay. If this is like maybe sounds offensive, but this is what I thought when I after a week in South Carolina, Like if all the states were people, right, Like if all like if every state was characterized by like a person that kind of symbolizes what that state is. I feel like South Carolina is like Tennessee after a divorce a little bit, you know what I mean, like you know, kind of starting over, you move into the condo, you know, like everything's maybe not in order. There was a lot happening in South Carolina. And here's here's why I say that people were interested in South Carolina and just my experience right, Like I went to a store and there was a dude telling me to go to church, and then he also said it's okay to drink a little bit of wine every now and then. I didn't really know where he was going, Like I don't know what church he was a part of, but he was. He was pretty adamant and telling me, Hey, you gotta go to this church. And he's also telling me, hey, but I also do a little bit, a little bit of it, this little bit of that. The restaurants, everyone called me sugar. Am I sugar? Sugar, Sugar Daddy? Everybody called me sugar, and it was you know, I'm like, I didn't feel like they were calling everybody sugar, you know what I mean? That was my thing, Like everybody wasn't being called sugar. So I'm like, was there something about me that made them feel that way, and then the rain. Okay, so I didn't understand South Carolina rain. Maybe you all know about this. I have never seen rain where the weather apps couldn't keep up with what was going on in South Carolina. So I was sitting in my car at Peachdam, right and it said two hours until this storm is coming. So I don't know if you all have ever been to Peachdam, but like Peachdam is in North Augusta, South Carolina. H it's in this gym, but like you basically got a park wherever you can find a spot, so like people are literally up on curbs on grass. It's like one of those situations. So I'm parked up on the grass and it's like two hours before it rain. So I'm sitting in my car sendings some text messages, thinking I got two hours, you know, and all of a sudden, I see these sprinkles and I'm like, wait a minute, my weather app said two hours, and then it's a downpour. Like South Carolina rain, they don't flirt with you like South Carolina rain doesn't tease you like it just destroys everything. And it starts pouring and now I'm running into the entrance. Now here's the thing. Once you get past forty, no one past the age of forty looks good running. I don't know if you all do that. I'm with you, no one, Like, I don't care. I don't care if you're in the best shape in the world. I don't care if you run marathons. No one after forty looks good running. But when you don't run a lot, it looks even worse. So I just I just know it was a bad look, fellas. I just know it was like someone saw me running to the entrance and it probably changed our relationship. And I don't know, you know, like like they're not gonna tell me, but I feel that way, Like do you all know what I'm talking about? Have you seen me? Oh yeah, for forty running? It's not a good look, right.

00:05:13
Speaker 5: Even when I'm running. Now, I know for a fact people are laughing at me because it is not a good look at all.

00:05:17
Speaker 2: All time stolen based later right here, Ryan LeMond still he's lost, He's lost a step over the years.

00:05:23
Speaker 3: Though.

00:05:23
Speaker 4: Oh no, I can still.

00:05:24
Speaker 3: Run, listen, I mean I bet and I can. I can. I can do bursts of running. But like you know, stuff is stuff is jiggling. I think I lost like a dollar forty five along the way that I just I couldn't turn back to grab it. You know, like once you lose change in the rain, it's just it's just gone, you know what I mean, Like you can't go back. I don't know where it is, but it just was a lot happening. But yeah, just South Carolina in general, man, was just an interesting place. Where do you all rank South Carolina among the states in the South if we ranked them, like it's it's South Carolina top five, top ten, Like where do you rank South Carolina?

00:06:05
Speaker 5: I may surprise you with this, Myron, I rank it number two because I love hilton Head.

00:06:11
Speaker 4: I go to hilton Head quite a bit.

00:06:12
Speaker 3: Yeah, so I tho's that's different. Yeah, that's beautiful up.

00:06:15
Speaker 5: There, Beautiful Charleston, South Carolina is beautiful. Even Myrtle Beach, parts of Myrtle Beach is really beautiful. But you're right, the state itself, it's like no sense of urgency, kind of back porch, rocking, sweet tea, kind.

00:06:28
Speaker 4: Of just chilled kind of vibe down there.

00:06:31
Speaker 3: Yeah, I felt like I was in hilton Heads, like third cousin on their daddy side's house a little bit, you know what I mean, Like it wasn't a little different you know where I was now. Granted, the food was great, that's one thing. Yeah, everything with South Carolina was incredible. We gotta have sweet tea every meal. You gotta drink sweet tea everything. And then here's the cool thing about like the hotels, I mean, this is not like this a bit was Every hotel has a restaurant attest to it. Yeah, I don't know what it like every place you go there's like a place also to get like as you check in, the nacho joint is right there to the left, and then you check in, and then it's like, yeah, okay, go get some nachos and the margarita before you go to your room. It's all set up like that, you know. And so that was pretty cool. Uh. And then the games are good too. I saw Mark Pope down there, who never stops moving, by the way, like Mark Pope is always on the go at these events. Like I don't know if you all have been to an event with Mark Pope, but you just see the seven foot human being going from Jim to Jim to Jim, and I don't know. I would love to know how many steps he does in the day, cause my guess is Mark Pope is like a twenty thousand step a day. Dude. He just never stops. He absolutely never stops.

00:07:43
Speaker 5: Man, It's like he's already drunk like six red bulls before the day even starts.

00:07:47
Speaker 4: He just so and energetic.

00:07:50
Speaker 3: Yeah. I said, hey, coach, and he looked at me and he said, oh hey, but it was the O hey, like I don't really know who you are. I'm gonna keep walking. But he probably just is so like in a B line to get to where he wants to go, that he just doesn't have time, you know, to kind of stop. But that man is always always on the move.

00:08:06
Speaker 6: Man.

00:08:06
Speaker 3: Well, it's Terrific Tuesday, so I'm gonna treat it like Mary Monday. So I still want to be able to call in and I want you to tell me something great that happened to you over the weekend, well up until today. You can include Monday too, So Terrific Tuesday, let me know some good things that are happening in your world. I don't remember the segments like well how much time do I have? Like how long am I talking? Right now. I don't know anything.

00:08:29
Speaker 2: Yeah you can go yeah, yeah, this break goes all the way up till twenty after if you want to.

00:08:34
Speaker 3: So, okay, So I saw Superman.

00:08:37
Speaker 4: Oh you did, No, we talked about it. Yeah, what you think.

00:08:41
Speaker 3: I saw Superman again? So I saw it in the South Carolina theater. No less than four flies had somehow gotten too the theater and you could see them as they were buzzing around during the movie. Right. But I thought the movie itself was really good. I love the movie. I enjoyed the movie. I understand that people are whatever they're making some sort of political connection to it. Listen, man, it's a dog on superhero movie. That's all I saw. That's all I cared about. It was the same thing that Superman's been doing from the beginning, from the time I was a kid, goes out and tries to save the world. Like, that's all I saw. But I thought it was pretty cool.

00:09:25
Speaker 6: Man.

00:09:25
Speaker 3: I thought it was like a movie where, you know, I'm not used to Superman getting beat up as much as he got beat up in that movie. You know, there was a little bit of like Man at some point. You know, Superman is not supposed to take all these punches. But I thought it was pretty realistic. So I thought it was a really good, really good movie. What does you all think of it?

00:09:46
Speaker 5: I've not seen it. You're the first person I've talked to you. I got to see it.

00:09:49
Speaker 3: Well.

00:09:49
Speaker 5: Another thing I hear that people are talking about the dog. I guess it's a fake dog, but it looks like it's a real dog.

00:09:54
Speaker 3: It does look it looks very It looks very, very very. Everything looks very real. And I saw it in the IMAX, so it looked it looked very real. Here's why I bring up Superman.

00:10:06
Speaker 2: Oh, go ahead him, No, I was just gonna say, I haven't seen it yet. I feel like, you know, I've already seen what Superman does. You know, he flies around and he saves the world and everything. I just don't know how many Superman movies do we need before Hollywood goes you know what. I think we're gonna cut it off there. I guess as long as people continue to go see it, though, why would you stop making a Superman movie?

00:10:24
Speaker 3: You know? No, I mean they're making all the old movies right cause there's no new ideas. Also, we're the people seeing the movies you know what I mean. So they know, like, do you come up with some new idea or do you do the same thing that we've been watching since we were kids. So the reason I bring up Superman is it was a really good movie. But immediately people were coming out and they were saying, this is the greatest superhero movie of all time, this is the most incredible movie, you know, in movie history. And I hate that, Like, why do we feel the need to the minute something comes out and we literally have just watched it for the first time, why do we suddenly just that this is the greatest thing that's ever happened. And I feel like with movies that happens more than anything else. Well, Superman good. Yes, I thought it was a pretty really good movie. I enjoyed it, and I think most people, if you look at the Rotten Tomato scores, probably did as well. But this isn't the greatest movie of all time. This isn't some you know what I mean, an epic film that you put up there with The Godfather and some of these other films. I just I don't know how you all feel about it, but I can't stand it when a movie comes out and there's this big buzz and people are like, oh, we've never seen anything better than this? Are you kidding me? Everybody, I feel like needs to relax after you see a movie and not try to make it bigger than what it is.

00:11:43
Speaker 5: I'm with you, and I kind of worry about the whole industry itself. If this was the movie of the summer, this was the one everybody was anticipating, and it's just a reboot of something we've seen already fifteen times, where are we in the movie industry, you know, come up with something good, something different than we want to go see?

00:11:57
Speaker 2: Well, I mean, well theaters exist in ten years now. I mean with being able to stream everything at home, do you think that people will still be going to see these movies ten years from now?

00:12:08
Speaker 3: That's a really good question. I mean my girls don't go to the theater, yeah, you know, like they if it's not streamed, they're not watching it now. Granted I will take them to the movies, so they'll go with me, but like with their friends, know, they don't go to the movies like that. So I don't know, man, in ten years, kind of what the theater industry will look like, because I just think everyone's kind of afraid of like doing an original idea. I have an original idea a lot that I think could sell, right, and it was something I was thinking about on my trip. We taking a bunch of trips so far this summer, and one of the trips we took was back home when walking my parents celebrated fifty years, which was super cool, had a big event, black tie, fair touchxedos, all that stuff, right, But on the way we passed a little place called Lake Delton. Was jo you guys ever been up to that part of Wisconsin, the Dell w.

00:13:03
Speaker 4: We were recently in Milwaukee with the Kentucky.

00:13:09
Speaker 3: Couple hours west of there, right, all right, But it's place called Lake Delton. So I have these two cousins, James and John, right, and they married two sisters, not sisters, sisters, right, and they live in an Amish town. So as kids, we would get in like three vans, my whole family, cousins, everybody, and we go up there and hang out. So you gotta imagine, you know, twenty five black folks getting out of vans, and then there's these Amish kids. They're looking at us, We're looking at them. Everybody's confused, right, we don't know what's going on. They don't know what's going on. But we all would hang out with my cousins, James and John. And James had a giant beach volleyball court, like in his front yard. He had this giant like he was in the beach volleyball. It was like one of his favorite things. So James lost half his arm in a factory accident. Right, so this is like the nineties, so we had to hook, you know, the captain hook thing. Yeah, right, But James had a volleyball arm. So he would call like, I'll kid you not, so we get ready to play volleyball, and James would be like, go get my arm. I'm not making this up. This is one hundred percent truth. And he would go and strap on his black volleyball arm. Now here's the thing. You know, it wasn't the right tone like it did. It stood out because it was almost like Will Smith tone, but he looks more like Wesley Snipes. But he would like put on his volleyball arm. Right, and James was the greatest. I don't know how many black people have played beach volleyball, Like, I don't know the numbers but it's not something I think is very popular. You know, from what I know, James is the greatest beach volleyball player of all time. I mean maybe of all time black beach volleyball player of all time. So I mean you got to think about this. This man has one arm, but he's got his volleyball arm. He's black, living in anmage community, and he's an incredible beach volleyball player. Would you all go see that movie? I feel like I.

00:15:09
Speaker 2: Would, Yeah, I would go. Now. That arm it could bump, set and spike. It was like a three and everything.

00:15:16
Speaker 3: Everything he called for it. He would call for it. He would say, go get my arm, and then like his his partner would come out with his arm. Like it was like in a case, I'm not making this up, like you can call my cousins. And he was. He was miraculous on the court, like it was like you know, like he just jumped high, like he bombed. He said, he did it all with this arm, and then when he was done, he'd like take it off and then he put on, uh the hook, you know. And there's a part of me that's like looking back as a kid, there's a part of me that's like, was he cheating? You know, I don't know the rules, you know, like I don't know if the arm gave him an advantage or not. I don't know. Also, you know, again, it's the nineties. You don't get to like today, you could probably match the home of something like that. You know, that's the nine. There was no Amazon back then. So it was an interesting look because it looked so different from the color of his skin. But when he put it on man, it was like he became our Superman. I've never seen a better black beach volleyball player at history than my cousin James, who would call for his volleyball arm. So I think movies like that he would sell. I try to tell my kids about that. Yeah, they didn't really, They don't really understand, like how much fun.

00:16:27
Speaker 2: That was into Hollywood. Man. That's the new Superman movie that comes out next summer.

00:16:32
Speaker 3: You know what I mean?

00:16:32
Speaker 5: There you go, dude, I am not I'm not watching Superman movie, but I'm standing in line for two hours to see cousin Jane with the will Smith beach volleyball arm knocking people over.

00:16:43
Speaker 4: I'm wanting to see that one.

00:16:45
Speaker 3: The question though, Yeah, yeah, a little a little arrogant to call for your arm. I mean, I'm not listen, bring out the arm. It was a little theatrical, you know. It was a little theatrical.

00:16:56
Speaker 5: Kids were like, oh, cousin James bringing out the volleyballs.

00:17:00
Speaker 3: It was a closet listen like that was our version of like Hawk Hogan's music, you know what I mean. James, James is about to put on the arm and everybody knew he was going to dominate, you know what I mean, Like it was it was just incredible. So you gotta imagine that and all of this is happening in an Amish community, Like I'm not making any of this sop. Like we would get caught behind the horse and buggy and my dad would get frustrated. It was like a whole thing. But shout out to James. I think that could go and sell in Hollywood. I think you got to take a break here. But yeah, terrific Tuesday. What's the number? What's the number?

00:17:36
Speaker 6: Game?

00:17:36
Speaker 2: Eight, five, nine, twenty two eighty seven.

00:17:40
Speaker 3: Give me your favorite you know, things that happened to you, something positive, But also tell me about your favorite relative, Like tell me about your favorite relative of all time that people should know about. For me again, James in his arm playing beach volleyball in the Amish community has always stood out for me. What about you. We'll be back after this break. Talk to him now again. Let out talk to him for a little bit. Here we go back in. Something's going on. Okay, someone's on the phone. Who's on the phone now? Three o'clock. Ain't nothing good happening at three o'clock in the morning.

00:18:13
Speaker 4: Come on a booty call three o'clock in the morning.

00:18:16
Speaker 3: Talking about Yep, she can make it right. Oh, I love agree, man, I love me some al Green, So I did. I did Algreen karaoke one time, Like I just you know, like that's probably my I was probably my go to karaoke artists. I would feel like, you know, if I were gonna do karaoke, like, I'm probably picking Algree songs. Who are your go to karaoke artists? Guys, who's your favorite?

00:18:44
Speaker 2: Well, the easiest of all time, of course, is the song Tequila, because you just stand there in the music place and then you go Tequila. You can't screw that up. That's the one you could be bad at, but everybody could do. Ryan what your star, Roger.

00:18:59
Speaker 5: I do Wheel which Shannon the Dude's band Alix lu gown little wagon Wheel, That's my go to.

00:19:04
Speaker 4: Yeah for sure, Shannon. Listen my remembers real quickly.

00:19:07
Speaker 5: We were in Maine, one of our crazy trips from Kentucky to like New York.

00:19:13
Speaker 4: We went up through Maine to.

00:19:14
Speaker 5: Get there, and we went to a karaoke place one night and Shannon gets up there and I'm live recording, live feeding it, thinking this is gonna be so funny, Shanning. You know, Shannon, what's he thinks? He cane up there and sing and.

00:19:26

00:19:27
Speaker 5: He's He's sang tones of Stone Tiple Pilots and killed it and.

00:19:31
Speaker 2: Single handedly brought back the band because of that, right.

00:19:34

Speaker 6: Uh.

00:22:19
Speaker 3: I want people to call in again. Tell me something cool, this happened, something positive? Also your favorite relative again? Like, should I have told more people about James? I feel like people are reacting like this is a unique story.

00:22:32
Speaker 2: The best story you've ever told.

00:22:36
Speaker 3: I don't think it was that unique. I didn't realize it was that unique.

00:22:38
Speaker 4: Dude, he's got a beach volleyball arm. Of course we want to know about it.

00:22:43
Speaker 2: They just went to the closet and pulled out Yeah.

00:22:46
Speaker 3: Again, Like I felt like he was really good and like now, looking back, it was a little bit. It was a little bit arrogant that he called for it, you know what I mean. Like, so we're back after this on KSR. TJ Smith personal injury attorney. Call TJ.

00:23:03
Speaker 2: He'll make them pay Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.

00:23:11
Speaker 3: All Green. Whatever you want to do, it's all right with me. Uh man, I love me some Al Green.

00:23:21
Speaker 4: So this is this is baby making music right here.

00:23:23
Speaker 3: Well, this is get you in trouble. This is. This is let me tell you who Al Green is. Al Green is get you in trouble music and also get you out of trouble music. You know what I mean? Like you know, like al is, he can help you in any situation. I think I told you all when I did a bunch of shows over the summer, Like I'm telling you Al Green, if you need help in your situation, your relationship, you can literally write down the lyrics to an Al Green song, read them to your special person and it will change things. I guarantee it. I'm gonna try it. I'm gonna try it. He is that good. So again, Al Green makes get you into trouble music and also get you out of trouble music. You just got to kind of figure out which situation that you are in. Back on a terrific Tuesday, Myra Metcalf filled in for Matt Jones in here mid July, where like the you know, Midgelyiz is such a hard time in our business because you always have something to talk about and discuss. So I'm working on a series Fellas where I'm doing some of the top teams in college basketball history, and I'm trying to put together their all time starting five. They're all time reserves, you know, and then like honorable honorable mentions, And I have one coming tomorrow for a team I won't mention now, but I was thinking about it for Kentucky and the challenge with that I've realized for the team I did it with so much of the conversation about the all time greats is generational, right, like who else coming up? Yeah? Whoever is your hero coming up? Yep, that's your person? And that was difficult for this team tomorrow that's coming out. I feel like it's going to be impossible for Kentucky because you guys got to help me out. I have no idea how to capture an all time look at Kentucky while also being respectful of the generations right of paying homage to the players who have played seventy years ago but still meant so much. But then how do you weigh that against the Anthony Davis and guys like that. I don't know if you guys have any sense of who would be in your top five all time, But I feel like Kentucky, no matter what I do, I'm gonna make somebody upset.

00:25:49
Speaker 5: Yeah, we've had this discussion before. It's so hard because like Dan Issel is a career scoring leader that will never be broken. But you know, people, you gotta, how can you ignore Anthony day Davis? So you put In'sle at the five, Davis at the four or something because they have to do something like that.

00:26:05
Speaker 2: I think that's what you have.

00:26:06
Speaker 5: But then at the three you got like Jamal Mashburn, Shack Givens, Kayshawn Prince. Yeah, and the guards John Wall, Kyle Macy, mash the leading scoring guard of all time is Keith Bogan's I mean, you gotta. It's it's tough to come up with the starting five.

00:26:25
Speaker 3: So throw out the number again for me.

00:26:27
Speaker 2: Yep, eight, five, nine, twenty two eighty seven.

00:26:31
Speaker 3: So this is what I need from callers. Give me your locks on an all time starting five. You don't have to tell me a starting five. Tell me who has to be on the list. I think that's what I need the most help with who Absolutely if you don't have them and you're starting five at Kentucky all time, then the list is invalid. Like that's what I need to figure out. And you know you all mentioned Dan who it feels like he is a he has to be on that.

00:26:55
Speaker 4: List, right, He's got to be on the list.

00:26:57
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean starting five. It feels like Anthony Davis has to be in your starting five. Then from there it gets tricky. It gets very tricky there from there because for me, Teyshawn incredible what he did, right, But it's hard for me to imagine putting anybody over Jamal Mashburn, you know, like just sheer talent. It's hard. That's difficult for me. And then once you get to the guards, I have no idea what you do there because, like you mentioned, Ryan, there's so many across generations that you could choose from. How do you you know, how do you deal with that? And then also, okay, the one and none guys? Will you do the guy like DeMarcus Cousins, who you know didn't win a ring, But it's hard to imagine there are that many guys who were better than him in the one year that we saw him at the collegiate level where both he and John Wall were first team All Americans. So for both of you, who are your locks? It could be five guys? But look, who are the guys that you're like? The list is not valid unless these guys are in Kentucky's all time starting five on ESPN.

00:28:07
Speaker 2: Shan you go first, Yeah, yeah for me, dan Issel has to be on there. Yes, I don't think that's a debate. Anthony Davis, I feel like has to be on there. I feel like he's a lock. I feel like John wall also should be a lock. I could I feel like it now the other two your your two guard or your you're three. I could be, you know, convinced to switch those out. I would have them at mash burnit to tayshawn as my small forward at the three spot. But I could be convinced otherwise. But I feel like those are my locks. Wall, Davis Isle.

00:28:45
Speaker 6: Lock.

00:28:46
Speaker 2: I feel like he is Ryan.

00:28:47
Speaker 3: What do you think? No, and that's valid. I mean, you know, there's a lot of guards. John Walton feels like a lock.

00:28:54
Speaker 2: But SEC player of the Year, overall number one pick in the draft.

00:28:59
Speaker 3: You know, yes, that guards who won championships, right, you know, and you know if you weigh that, if we go on accolades, Willie cowy Stein has probably more accolades than anybody other than Anthony Davis, you know, Defensive player of the Year, SEC Player of the year All the first Team All American, and then we talked about Oscar she Way was National.

00:29:22
Speaker 5: Player of the Year and he won't even get in this conversation at all. So it is kind of crazy. But my five lock conversation, my locks are probably Dan Issel, Anthony Davis, Jamal Mashburn, Jack Gibbons, and my point guard because it's a generational thing. Like you said, Martin, I'm going Kyle Macy.

00:29:38
Speaker 1: So.

00:29:40
Speaker 3: Well, these are locks for you. So these are like, that's your start in five. It has to be my starting five. Dude.

00:29:46
Speaker 2: If you put Wall versus Macy one on one though Walwick Cook Macy, you know that, right, Ryan, Come.

00:29:53
Speaker 5: On, did did John Wall win a championship? No Masons champion team thing?

00:29:58
Speaker 3: Though?

00:29:58
Speaker 2: That's a team thing, not an individual thing.

00:30:00
Speaker 3: But see, this is why it's so hard. Though. It's so hard. So I feel like Dan Thissel, Anthony Davis. If I have those two guys in to start five, I'm good, right, And then from there it gets dicey. From there's where it gets dicey, because you're gonna offend somebody.

00:30:15
Speaker 5: We did even mention Carl Anthony Towns, who is a on a team that almost went undefeated and was the number one pick.

00:30:20
Speaker 3: That's I mean again that I don't know other than Anthony Davis. I don't know what to do with the cal era in terms of players, like I don't know where to put again John Wall feels like it has to be in a starting five. But I think there's a case to be made for a lot of other guys. I think DeMarcus Cousins if it's just one of the best single years we've ever seen at that spot, not over Anthony Davis or Dan But what do you do with DeMarcus Cousins?

00:30:47
Speaker 2: Is he on the second team team?

00:30:52
Speaker 3: Like, what what do you do? All Right? We got some callers. Maybe these callers could help us. Who's our who's our first call? Jay? See how you're doing? Tell me something cool that's happened on this terrific Tuesday for you?

00:31:06
Speaker 9: Well, not a whole lot going, but I got I got a I think the front court you all got already is definitely the three locks.

00:31:15
Speaker 3: Uh you got so we got damn the Davis.

00:31:20
Speaker 9: Who's Dey'll say Master was a lock?

00:31:24
Speaker 3: Well, not debating.

00:31:26
Speaker 9: Play, I can say, Okay, s a lot for you. Definitely, Yes, he is yeah.

00:31:35
Speaker 3: Uh, nash urns a lot.

00:31:36
Speaker 9: Okay, mash urns a lock that looks like our most decorated uh guard is gonna be Shaye. And of course if you have Shay, you have to have quad a Green. He was in Chile Perry's mind, Yeah, ahead of Shaddy. So uh, anyway, that's my five. I reckon y'all have a.

00:31:57
Speaker 5: Going you know if all the point guard numbers, Yeah, Wall had the great year's number one pick, but Brandon Knight actually had better numbers than Wall, and Tyler Ewlis had better numbers than both of them.

00:32:08
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, isn't that Isn't that the hard part?

00:32:11
Speaker 2: Right?

00:32:11
Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the hard part.

00:32:12
Speaker 3: Hard part is the hard part is. But but to me, I personally have not seen many collegiate guards in the modern era. Let's say the last twenty five years that I'm putting above John Wall, Like if it's if you tell me I'm starting the team and I need a point guard in the last twenty five years, for me personally, it's probably John Wall. Yeah five years. Yeah, So, I mean the numbers may not add up to what like a U Liss didn't necessarily or but he also played next to a first team All American to Marks Cousins. A bunch of young guys on that team. I feel like John Wall, if he wanted to, could have averaged thirty five a game, right, It just there was other talent around him, so we got another call. Who else that's interesting? Jamal Mashburn is a lock A lot of people like.

00:33:00
Speaker 2: Jamal, Brian and Franklin and Brian.

00:33:03
Speaker 3: Brian and Franklin. How you doing on this terrific Tuesday? Tell me something good about your week Tuesday.

00:33:10
Speaker 6: I'm doing phenomenal. But here's my thing, though, I in my mind's eye can't get over the description that you was giving me about James. So in my mind's eye, I am picturing the dude that I was up in the pool hall. He's got his own pool Q in the case and everything. He unzips that thing, pulls it out, screws it together and just runs a table. I'm seeing him as the dude at the bowler now that that shows up. He's got his own shoes, his own ball. Am I seeing this correctly?

00:33:48
Speaker 3: Yeah? I feel like James was probably hustling the homage community in Beach volleyball for like fifteen years, Like I think, you know, like he just he was. He was that good. Like he he was again, he's the best beach volleyball player I've ever seen up close, you know, like I've never seen like the way he would jump, you know what I mean, Like he was just like all the place once he got the arm right, man, he was you couldn't mess with him. Man, you really couldn't mess with James. He was that good. And I don't know, I never saw him use the arm other than volleyball, Like it wasn't like I saw him with the arm in other situations. Only for volleyball. Did I see that arm come out?

00:34:34
Speaker 6: He showed up to the court and his flip flops and then pulls out of sneakers out of the bag and then transforms and then now he's mj She.

00:34:43
Speaker 3: Would she would bring the arm, bring it to him. Yeah, No, I appreciate, appreciate the call man like he I think it was just his volleyball arm fellas Like, I don't think I can't recall another time when he used it. You know.

00:35:00
Speaker 5: I love the fact that all the kids are like waiting around in a circle waiting for cousin James to alert the authorities to bring in his beach volleyball arms so he can go down on the beach volleyballs.

00:35:09
Speaker 2: You have like another arm for like another situation, like.

00:35:13
Speaker 3: I saw the two. I saw the two, but like he would walk out with swagger, like he would walk into the court with swagger, like you know, like I'll show you a little bit, you know what I mean. He knew he knew how good he was, you know, like he knew he knew how good he was, and he wanted everybody else to know too. Man, So shout out, James Man, lake Den, Wisconsin. I'm kidding you out. We go up there. He would play beach volleyball for hours and he was absolutely incredible. I think we got to take a break here. More terrific Tuesday, More of your takes on all time, starting five and your favorite relative after the break. Oh Green Yo, I love Al Green Man. Missus ks r Myran Metcalf filling in for Matt Jones. Jones, you know who it is. I'm a friend of the show at this point, you guys know it.

00:36:04
Speaker 4: You're one of us.

00:36:06

00:37:19
Speaker 4: If you'd ever come see us, we can give you some stuff.

00:37:22
Speaker 3: Yeah, well I've been, but I've been. I've done shows down there, so you know, next time I'm gonna I'm gonna figure it out. So we're having this all Time Starting five. I'm doing this series of ESPN. I'm trying to figure out who the locks should be. You know, once I do this piece, it sounds like All Time Starting five, Kentucky History, Dan elsel Anthony Davis locks, right like I think everybody agrees they have to be in your Starting five.

00:37:43
Speaker 4: Yep, I think they have to be.

00:37:44
Speaker 3: And now it's it's sounded more like people maybe think Jamal Mashburn is a lot. But Ryan, you're getting some text messages about this. What are you seeing this on the Avision glass tech machine? Myron absolutely lit up.

00:37:56
Speaker 5: I mean I got like fifty of them in that last segment, most just because of going through something like most people are making an argument for Kenny sky Walker even over Mashburn. At the three All American I think he's number two in the all time scoring list. And then the other one they're making an argument for is Tony Delk at guard. Yeah, those seem to be the two in the on the davision glass tech machine, the most can you.

00:38:20
Speaker 3: Put and I know Tony man like, can you put Tony over John?

00:38:24
Speaker 1: Like?

00:38:24
Speaker 3: How do how should I measure that between those two guys? Obviously it's a national champion, right, Yeah, Tony has that that gives him obviously a certain edge.

00:38:37
Speaker 5: His jersey's retired already here at Kentucky. But he was more of a two guard than a point guard. Patino kept trying to make him a point guard, but he was literally a two guard.

00:38:46
Speaker 3: But man, I didn't even think about Tony. Tony has a lot, He has a lot of achievements.

00:38:51
Speaker 4: If you put him at two guard, that means you're not going to put in Jack Gibbons.

00:38:55
Speaker 3: Yeah, when you want Jack as a lock.

00:38:57
Speaker 2: Right.

00:38:58
Speaker 3: So the thing I give Tony a lot of credit for and Tony played. I believe that, and you all crept me if I'm wrong. I believe that ninety sixteen if I'm not mistaken, had ten NBA guys. I could be wrong. On that, but I think I'm close. I believe that's right. Yeah, if it's not exact number, it's very close.

00:39:26
Speaker 4: Sure.

00:39:26
Speaker 3: So I believe you had ten NBA guys on that team. Unbelievable, and so Tony, you know, had to deal with fitting into well. Legitimately is one of the most decorated rosters of all time, you know what I mean in terms of just like a team that won at this level and then a bunch of guys went on to be successful pros. That's a very rare thing. But I think there were ten pros on that team, ten NBA guys, So Tony had to fit into that. Like So, I always think of a guy like Tony and it's like, Okay, if you put him with a team where he's the show, where he doesn't have to defer right, where he doesn't have to fit in with this immaculate collection of talent, what do his numbers look like? So I just I give a lot of credit to guys like a Tony DoPT because who you're playing with matters so much. And of course he could have done more somewhere else. He did a lot of Kentucky, but could have done more if he had just said, let me go to a place where they let me take every shot and I get to shine. So I like, Tony's a good one man.

00:40:29
Speaker 5: But like, if the argument for John Wall would be he played with five first round draft picks, first round draft picks.

00:40:37
Speaker 3: He did, I think again, the one and done era, it's hard, right because I don't want to knock on those guys, like I don't want to discredit those guys and say you didn't play long enough to be included. At the same time, you know, Tony was playing with sophomore's, juniors, seniors due to in this era, maybe they would have left after one year. But those were some pretty mature dudes, you know what I mean. And that was just it's just a different era. But the talent was more experience. So I'm not saying it was easier for John Wall, but this is more of the raw talent era versus I mean, those guys in the mid nineties were seasoned, you know, like those guys, we were ready to go to the next level. See that's interesting. Interesting, So Danizel, Anthony Davis and we still don't have a lot. It feels like beyond that, it feels like you know debate. People are kind of all over the place about who could be that. Uh, I'm going to offend somebody. I'm pretty confident in that no matter who I pick, right, Like, there's no there's no way for me to do this without making someone upset. That's that's fair, right.

00:41:45
Speaker 2: Yeah, But I mean that's that's the thing though. You want people to talk about it and and debate it, and that's that's that's part of the fun of putting out all these lists. Everybody's got different.

00:41:54
Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm fine, I want be to debate, but I also want to me a list like that. The important thing is that people say it's valid no matter what you pick. And that's why the locks are so important. Like, I feel like if you get the locks down, you're okay. You. I mean, if you get the three players four players who have to be on that list, you're good. But if you miss those guys, people laugh at you, laugh at you and say they don't respect you. We'll be back after this break. I'm KSR
