Josh Jacobs On Raiders Fall Out, Nick Saban Vs Jon Gruden, Packers Outlook + Growing Up Homeless

Bussin' With The Boys

Recorded: April 24th 2025,

The Boys are back with a loaded episode full of laughs, chaos, and an all-time sit down with Green Bay Packers RB Josh Jacobs. In our intro this week, we are joined by two Michigan students who are interning with the boys for the week. We also are launching our Internship Program so keep an eye out on our socials for more details. The guys also break down Dave Portnoy’s viral video involving his bar, entering the news breaking game with the George Kittle news and True Classic’s Gooner-X of the Month.

Josh Jacobs hops on the bus for one of the realest convos we’ve had. He opens up about growing up homeless and his journey from overlooked high school kid to first-round NFL draft pick. Jacobs then gets into what it was like grinding at Alabama while not being “the guy” with a stacked running back room with Najee Harris and Damien Harris. He talks about learning under Nick Saban, his bond with Jalen Hurts, and how his home-state schools never even offered him. We get into his time with the Raiders, playing under Jon Gruden, the painful decision to leave Vegas including a WILD story of a Raiders exec trying to expose him. Josh then gets into the transition to Green Bay and what to expect from the Packers this season.

From draft day moments and his first big purchase to Antonio Brown stories and Maxx Crosby’s insane work ethic -  this one is full of laughs, truth bombs, and a ton of football talk.

Speaker 1: Ladies, gentlemen, welcome to another episode of Busting with the Boys', episode three hundred and twenty seven. Our guest today is none other than Josh Jacobs. Josh Jacobs play at Alabama, gets drafted by the Raiders. This guy ends up going from the Raiders to the Packers. He's done a lot of different media lately, but one thing he really dives into with Busting with the Boys is his fallout that he had with the Raiders. Talks about his conversations with Max Crosby, the higher up guys, different kind of situations where he feels like he was playing situations like some guy talking to him that's hired up with the Raiders, on a phone call with somebody who is a reporter so they can hear the conversation. Very fun, exciting, dude. You learn so much about this guy and what he had to go through, the trials and tribulations in order to be successful. Where he's at is truly almost could call it a miracle. Now, before we start this episode, we have a whole intro. We have interns on the bus, but we also need you to subscribe to this podcast. Doesn't hurt you at all, it helps us a lot. I lost that bet, but I'm still in the leafs. Over the leafs. Over the leaves continue to do what the leaves are doing. I'm gonna have to get in contact with somebody out there in Toronto, get my passport ready and fly on up there and catch myself a game because it is going nice. When it comes to UFC, you're gonna look back. You're gonna look back at what Will Compton Taylor one has put out from busting with the Boys parlay first parlay. We put out there three legs. Not one of them hit, not one. Last time. I think one of them hit right, So we can assume at this point at least two are going to hit. At least two. Ba's only work if they all hit.

00:04:17
Speaker 2: I hope you're having fun.

00:04:18
Speaker 1: In Texas Shirm, two young little birds came with us, Dude. They flew down from an arbor mission. They are interning with us for the next seven days. They've already jumped in a little bit. They've had their leader, their captain, Jared Beeman, has been taking care of them since yesterday afternoon.

00:04:32
Speaker 2: Right, are you gonna introduce them or should they introduce themselves?

00:04:38
Speaker 5: Yeah?

00:04:38
Speaker 2: You can introduce themselves like name, position age or like with the with the with the rookie r The rookies have to do their signing bonus. Should we do there in IL?

00:04:51
Speaker 1: Oh?

00:04:52
Speaker 5: Yeah?

00:04:52
Speaker 2: Absolutely, if they you know, if they feel comfortable, We'll start with Tom Hardy on the left and we can go JJ McCarthy on the right.

00:05:02
Speaker 1: All right, Yeah, give me that last name one more time.

00:05:08
Speaker 6: I'm Niko Andrew Ghetto and junior at Michigan. I'm a safety m number thirty one on the football team three and oh against Ohio State U two and oh against Nebraska. My n IL signing bonus is zero dollars because I'm a walk on fine grinder. Yeah, just excited to be here.

00:05:33
Speaker 1: All right, all right, where we're from? Where are we from?

00:05:35
Speaker 6: I'm from Barria, California.

00:05:37
Speaker 1: Barry A, California.

00:05:38
Speaker 7: Okay, all right, all right, I'm Bryce Wilcox. I'm from Patrie City, Georgia. I play football as well with with ghetto. I play receiver. I was a converted, uh, defensive back who now plays receiver. And uh, my n io is Z zero o dollars same as same as Nico because I'm a walk on.

00:06:03
Speaker 8: But it's it's good, it's good to be here. We're excited. And uh, yeah, you.

00:06:08
Speaker 1: Can tell the boys went through the media process in college.

00:06:10
Speaker 2: Yeah, a couple of grands. They'll be with us for this entire week.

00:06:15
Speaker 1: The entire week. And so the boys at Bay Area. What made you go to Michigan? What was what was that?

00:06:19
Speaker 2: That was gonna be my question? Well, with you guys Georgia and yeah, West Coast and walking on at the University of Michigan.

00:06:25
Speaker 6: Well, I was actually planning on going to Columbia University in New York to play IVY League football. That didn't really work out and then brain, no, that's why, that's why. But my older my older brother, lucas Andre Guetto played running back at Michigan, and when the whole Columbia thing fizzled out, I ended up like asking him to send coach Harball in my film and then he was like, yeah, you can play be a walk on here. So I ended up going to Michigan and uh as a dB and then within the first week was switched to running back cause we had no walk on or no scout running backs, so I had never played offense before.

00:07:05
Speaker 8: So did that for a year? Did not work out very well. They flipped me back to DV.

00:07:10
Speaker 6: And then been there for since since my sophomore year with coach Klink.

00:07:15
Speaker 1: Yeah, let's go, dogg outstanding, outstanding, you.

00:07:20
Speaker 8: Do it all right?

00:07:21
Speaker 7: So uh, growing up, I can always I watched Michigan because my one of my best friends, his dad'side of the family was all Michigan fans and his mom's side of the family was all Ohio of State fans. So we'd always watched Iron Bowl things like that at home and went over there to his house. And I mean when I like twenty thirty people come to this game just to go watch this at this kid's house, So going over there, I was like, holy crap.

00:07:49
Speaker 1: They don't.

00:07:50
Speaker 8: They don't play around up north about football. So I'm like, all right.

00:07:53
Speaker 7: Uh So that's that's when I first kind of looked into Michigan, and then I was originally committed to Nave my whole senior year, went and visited and it was it's not for everybody.

00:08:06
Speaker 8: Yeah, it's tough. It's tough.

00:08:07
Speaker 7: So I had a buddy go there the year before and he was telling me, like, you don't want to do this. Everything is military, there's no football, everything is mill This kid was like two forty and see him six months later.

00:08:22
Speaker 8: He weighed one.

00:08:23
Speaker 7: It's a defensive vent and I'm like, what are they doing to you? He's that we get up five am ron, uh just march around campus. And I was like, all right, I got to figure something belts out. So I hit a couple of camps after my senior year and got lucky and they reached out.

00:08:39
Speaker 8: Yeah that's how I ended up there.

00:08:40
Speaker 1: Let's fuck love, Oh dude, let's go good for the boys. Man stoke to obviously shout out Chris Brian He's the one that facilitated this whole thing. Reached out to me just before we went to Michigan for the spring tour. So I got two young hungry dogs that want to come and do an internship with you guys, and we have like pussed around with the idea of doing an internship.

00:08:56
Speaker 2: Yeah, we've messed with it, and yeah, well there's been a lot of people to reach out. We just ever kind of dipped their doing it. But knowing that this was like a week long, they approached us face to face, resume.

00:09:05
Speaker 1: In hand, resume in hand. We were literally in the middle of the the what the we were working?

00:09:10
Speaker 2: We were about to either work out or we just got done.

00:09:13
Speaker 1: Now, and know we were about to I don't think we were we would have been able to talk true kind of conversation. Yeah, yeah, so we're about to get a work out. You guys hand us a Manila folder with everything in there. How long did you guys work on that?

00:09:23
Speaker 6: Uh So, Actually, since Bryce Underwood committed to Michigan, I kind of found a tie between Barstool and Michigan, and since then I've been emailing you guys and Barstool asking for to do an internship over and over again. I think I sent around like sixty emails in total since uh once I found out you guys were doing the Spring college for and you guys are coming to Michigan.

00:09:46
Speaker 8: I was like, I got to talk to somebody, and.

00:09:48
Speaker 6: Then I remembered that you were Chris Byron's o V host, and so I asked him to call you and ask you about it, and then from there on it was kind of just like, let's go. But we worked on our dock for about three weeks four weeks before we got to you guys, and then got lucky with somemectric card stock laying around and printed it out and had it made it all nice for you guys, and that's good.

00:10:11
Speaker 1: Let's fucking go. Man, did you read it?

00:10:14
Speaker 2: Yeah?

00:10:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah we do. We do a good hard look at that. Didn't We did background checks on them and everything. Yeah, called a couple of people, Yeah, he did, picked off young Underwood. Had to feel good, right, you know, and the boy know your future bosses were sitting there watching you just being like, took that almost look into the house too. Took a thud from Bryce though he did. He did kind of one of my kids to do.

00:10:34
Speaker 6: We're wearing short.

00:10:35
Speaker 1: I'm just saying think so.

00:10:37
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:10:38
Speaker 6: I actually told by our other walk on safety Max Reyes. Before practice, I was like, I gotta, I gotta get picked today in front of these voice.

00:10:45
Speaker 8: Let's and it worked out. Well.

00:10:48
Speaker 1: Promise has made, Promises delivered. Well, we're stoked to have you guys. Man. It's gonna be awesome.

00:10:52
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's gonna help us too because we've again Taylor was saying it, but we've always thought about it. We've just never like executed on doing it. So you guys are a good like trial run threat out this week because we are looking at doing like summer internships. We then locally, Yeah, we're gonna do it. We're gonna do it. Yeah, We're gonna Yeah. I'm always cautious about it, I know. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm a dive in.

00:11:12
Speaker 1: We will be doing intern a summer internship. Yes, we will be doing Jared Beeman will.

00:11:17
Speaker 2: Be running the interns. Yeah.

00:11:19
Speaker 1: The entire time, we wanted Jared to do a complete like presentation in front of all of us today for you guys, but he snuck in Sunday and gave you.

00:11:27
Speaker 2: He still did a presentation. But yeah, he got around it a little bit by meeting up with him yesterday bringing him to the bus and talking with him about everything.

00:11:35
Speaker 1: Seems like Jerry had a tough weekend. To Mitch, Carson had himself a little party at the house and he stiffed, you.

00:11:42
Speaker 9: Yeah, it was Friday.

00:11:43
Speaker 10: We were I it was my girlfriend's birthday this week, so we were having a little like birthday party for Saturday at my house.

00:11:52
Speaker 9: And told all the boys. I know, G and JP were out of town.

00:11:55
Speaker 10: Jack was possibly going camping, but and uh Sarm obviously wasn't here. So I told Jared, Coop and Jack and Clump those are the boys who were in the shop, like, hey, we're having a little party at my place, probably gonna head downtown.

00:12:11
Speaker 2: And they're like, oh yeah, just going downtown always in the plans.

00:12:15
Speaker 9: For that day. Yes, it was Brook's decision.

00:12:19
Speaker 2: It was her, but the decision happened on the day or that was kind of the invite. Hey we're going to start at the house, We're going to go downtown.

00:12:25
Speaker 10: We're going to start at the house, and we're gonna go from there. With like eighty percent certain that we're head downtown. It was Brooks day. We're letting her choose whatever she wanted to do. Told all the fellas Jared's like, oh, I am in. Jared knows Brooke personally and like they lived in the same apartment building and all of this. Jared's like, oh, I'm in, Like my girl just moved into town. McKenzie wants to meet everybody, like this will be perfect. So I'm like, all right. I texted Jared Saturday, Hey, what time you guys rolling through? He texted me back immediately, Ah, we're doing some errands or taking longer than add Coop texted me saying he wasn't going to come. Jack texted me saying he wasn't going to be able to make it. Clump called me, He's like, yo, I feel so bad, I'm not going to be able to come. And Jared like he's going to be the one to come through. He got two wine drunk or something Friday night.

00:13:18
Speaker 2: On Friday when we were in the shop, he was even talking about coming yeah, and I'm because we were talking about Goon and he's like, I'll be coming from Mitches, So I might be a little sauced up, but he was committed to going. Yeah, his latest Friday.

00:13:29
Speaker 10: And then what the crazy part is, He's like, we're setting up stuff around the house. But if you guys want to come over after being downtown, you're more than welcome.

00:13:36
Speaker 9: Like, Jared, what are we doing?

00:13:40
Speaker 4: And what are we doing?

00:13:41
Speaker 5: So?

00:13:42
Speaker 9: Yeah, none of the boys didn't end up showing up.

00:13:46
Speaker 1: Seems like it seems like a tough, tough wee.

00:13:49
Speaker 5: I wish it ended there, and I hate to do this to Jared with him not being on the bus. Mitch, what time was the party? I get a text from Jared maybe around one or two? He out there.

00:14:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, just walked up and sitting there listening.

00:14:06
Speaker 5: Jared. I'm sorry, and Jared, it's honesty hour. I get a text from Jared that afternoon he says, Hey, are you even sitting around? Y'all want to come over and watch the Kentucky Derby in the middle of the afternoon? Yeah?

00:14:26
Speaker 6: Not good?

00:14:27
Speaker 5: And hearing about how this is all going down with Mitch. I'm thinking back to my text. I'm like, no way the way Jared would do this, but he did, but he did.

00:14:40
Speaker 1: Post came You're going to Broadway. There's no postgame.

00:14:42
Speaker 2: There's invited everybody over, when Mitch had already invited everybody over for his girlfriend's birthday party that you said yes to go. I know I said you didn't go because you you drank a full bottle of wine on Friday, stayed up a little late, slept until, slept in until noon on Saturday, and then had the audacity to then invite everybody that was already invited to Mitch's party to your house to watch the Kentucky Derby.

00:15:07
Speaker 1: Party.

00:15:07
Speaker 11: It's not justified. What I would say is, yeah, I fucked up. I slept in Saturday. I wanted to get my chores done. Earlier chores come first. Mitch had the pregame. I texted him, or I guess he texted me first. I wasn't gonna be able to make it. Then they were already out earlier than I thought. So then when I realized they were out, that's pretty early for going out.

00:15:25
Speaker 4: No, well, I.

00:15:29
Speaker 5: Guess it's the middle of the day.

00:15:31
Speaker 11: So once I heard they were out, I was like, I'm definitely not hitting Broadway, but post game could be my house. No one had brought up a post game, not a bad spend zone on this pregame, going out postgame my place, I rest my case. No one had nothing to say when I said that, I do apologize.

00:15:49
Speaker 4: I fucked up.

00:15:51
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:15:51
Speaker 5: I mean, I don't have them.

00:15:52
Speaker 1: I don't understand. You could have just said I.

00:15:57
Speaker 11: But then I thought it was a nice little It wasn't like a pity that. It was just like, oh yeah, and I kind of want to watch the Derby later, y'all want to come. I spent the whole day doing the yard. Love to have the boys over.

00:16:06
Speaker 2: We'll make it right.

00:16:08
Speaker 11: I did have some people over, and then we had a fun little Derby party, ma'am.

00:16:13
Speaker 4: There was a post game.

00:16:14
Speaker 2: That is just imagine Bro Taylor's birthday. You invite me, I'm committed to going. I sleep in and I'm like, hey, I'm not going to make it, and then in the middle of it, I'm inviting everybody at your party over to my house.

00:16:27
Speaker 11: If I didn't give Mitch the text that I would bail you that, oh yeah, I ended up having a party that day.

00:16:32
Speaker 1: Yeah, we'd be we'd have we'd have a sitting down conversation.

00:16:35
Speaker 2: Yeah, oh yeah, he did. I wasn't going to bring that up. Yeah he wanted. He did for Warren that he'd be a little sauced up. Coop also bailed, so once it was two. Once both of them bailed, it was kind of like there's nothing you can really say. I was gonna go and people were over.

00:16:52
Speaker 4: I couldn't.

00:16:53
Speaker 1: People were over because you invited them over. Yes, said you had plans with will people to come over over. And they're like, oh, I'm no longer going to goon.

00:17:01
Speaker 2: No, I'm not putting you did nothing.

00:17:03
Speaker 1: I'll do everything this.

00:17:04
Speaker 2: You take all the fault.

00:17:05
Speaker 5: I take all the fault.

00:17:06
Speaker 11: I missed my prior plans because I got a little sauced on Friday. So then I was trying to make it up. I was like, cause, like there's like Mackenzie's like, well, I thought we make it up to who myself? Like I just lost a Saturday, Like I already fucked up, Like I didn't have a like do what I want today? I was like just doing ship in the yard. I mean it was fun, but it wasn't day drinking. So I was like, got a night drink. Now, invited some people over, went to a tie place, got some good food, some good drinks. They came back over. It was a fun Saturday for for me sleeping in and missing the party I wanted to go to.

00:17:41
Speaker 2: We're glad you had fun, man, Mitch.

00:17:42
Speaker 11: We're sorry, brother, Hey, I apologize, I'm in the wrong.

00:17:46
Speaker 5: I apologize.

00:17:48
Speaker 1: Let's keep the bad news going. All I'm out, Good job, Jerrem, Let's keep the bad news going. Will Compton doesn't watch hockey at all, doesn't dive into it. The Four Nations tournament, he starts to kind of dabble. Hey, this is kind of interesting. It is kind of cool. I'm trying to tell Will because my brother, he played junior hockey. He was all about it, played the ice and actually played Austin Matthews back in the day. And then all of a sudden, the Saint Louis Blues are in a Game seven and.

00:18:13
Speaker 2: Paid game six. When it started, when I started to oh, when he started to dip the toe because the Blues were down, they were down in the series. I was like, man, it'd be cool if they could like win the first round because I knew that they went on like a like a record streak to get into the playoffs.

00:18:26
Speaker 9: Yeah.

00:18:26
Speaker 1: But yeah, it started to the Predators last year. Similar to the Predators, Saint Louis Is down or Saint Louis Is up to to one game seven three one three one end up coming back and scoring with what less than three seconds left, Yeah, to go into overtime.

00:18:41
Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like less than two seconds when they hit that Ricky shot. What do they call it? Top shelf?

00:18:47
Speaker 1: They call that top shelf.

00:18:49
Speaker 2: Rick Ricka shot in the top shelf.

00:18:51
Speaker 1: End up going to two overtimes. While Will is watching this, he's tweeting out, if they make it to the second round, I gotta go back to bonb tayor we'll get some whatever pizza place he's always talking abouts, go catch a couple of things.

00:19:03
Speaker 2: And what do they do?

00:19:04
Speaker 1: They shit the bed. Will Compton decides to put his name behind a team and they shit the bed.

00:19:09
Speaker 2: The reason I was doing that too, like I was trying to build it up because somebody from the Blues hit me up. Gruden had went over the weekend to the Blues and Cardinals, and I was tweeting about, like, you know, sharing his stuff because he's going to the Saint Louis spots, He's going to the Saint Louis teams. I'm like, oh, I didn't know he loved the Blues like that. So I'm like giving that love. And somebody from the Blues hit me up. They're like, hey, if we win Game seven, we would love to have you out in round two next weekend when it's at when it's in Saint Louis. Damn. And I'm like, he's like, I know you're a bond ter guy. Used to have a place on Turtlake, Tartarlac Lake TDL shout out the Boys and Turtle Lac and so we were connecting over that. But he's like, we'd love to have you out for a game in Saint Louis in round two. It's I'm fired up because it's like, oh, that'd be easy flight, easy thing to go to.

00:19:55
Speaker 1: Yeah, and a fun time too. Fun time off hockey is so hard to beat through the atmosphere unreal and the boys just go fucking hard the entire time.

00:20:04
Speaker 2: Yeah. And so I placed a bet on fan duel with game six. We won that money line and it's like, man, they could. They whooped their ass too. In Game six. It's like, man, if they pull this off, they're up three to one. I had bet on them right before the game, and so I started to put the you know, if they win, start to start to build it.

00:20:22
Speaker 1: On the car before the horse.

00:20:24
Speaker 2: Damn.

00:20:25
Speaker 5: Well, bro, I'm.

00:20:26
Speaker 2: Watching that live. And when they made that shot, I just said, holy fucking shit.

00:20:32
Speaker 1: Yeah, when they go to overtime, you I think it's over right.

00:20:35
Speaker 2: Yeah, And then the longest overtime, nobody's like scoring. They're getting shots on goal and everything else. I'm like, look at these guys. I'm like, bro, teams that have to go that are that take care of business in their series and they're resting until the second round. The teams that are going like having a war all the way through game seven and going to ot, I'm like, these boys have to be exhausted out.

00:20:54
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's crazy how many games a year they play and they go sit like a seven series and to start the playoffs should be like best of three, best of five, best of seven, but they just fucking man. They rip around all day every day, and it's like they're always having a couple of beers after the game doing whatever. Like hockey is such like a traditional like a lot of booze bags in that league, a lot of boozebags. But they just go so fucking hard forty five seconds in their shift. Yeah, playoff hockey is awesome.

00:21:22
Speaker 5: Do you regret the tweet?

00:21:24
Speaker 2: No?

00:21:25
Speaker 1: Come on, I've told you.

00:21:28
Speaker 5: I like, imagine if somebody texts you during the Nebraska game and they in Nebraska Michigan, y'all are y'all are up by two, And before Michigan gets the ball, somebody texts you, Man, if Nebraska wins, we should blank. How would you feel if you got that text?

00:21:47
Speaker 2: I would just say hold it off. That sounds like a fun idea, like just hold that thought.

00:21:52
Speaker 1: I'm not thinking it wouldn't bother you because I remember in the fall I would tweet clear, So that's not true because in the fall I tweet did something. You did the eyes smoke thing, didn't he during the fall the Organ game? But then that's right, the storm, I.

00:22:09
Speaker 2: Just did the eyes. I just didn't exactly, but you were aware enough to just the eyes like, hey, there might be a storm situation happened in the Organ exactly.

00:22:17
Speaker 3: I won't lie.

00:22:18
Speaker 2: I sent that tweet and I was like, oh, ship right, because I started the march down the JP makes a comment. I'm just immediately like in defense mode, like I put the eyes, like I thought about it before I even hit tweet.

00:22:30
Speaker 1: You're in the same boat as you are right now.

00:22:32
Speaker 2: I did the if factor. I did the if hey, but I believe in Jinks. But I'm prefacing it by saying if they pull it off, I'm not saying they're gonna pull it off.

00:22:46
Speaker 5: Look, man, I might.

00:22:49
Speaker 1: Five. You need to reevaluate you're betting for the boys.

00:22:54
Speaker 2: I feel like everything one Jack could take down the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. I'm now paying for it post super Bowl. In everything that we've done March gave everything everything. Yeah everything?

00:23:07
Speaker 5: Yeah, what did it cost?

00:23:09
Speaker 1: What are we out here chasing? Question?

00:23:10
Speaker 2: Yeah?

00:23:11
Speaker 1: We chasing it.

00:23:12
Speaker 2: Might be Uh. I think it turns around come football season.

00:23:15
Speaker 1: I think it turns around May sixteen, seventeen, when Jack and I are back in Vegas.

00:23:19
Speaker 6: Yeah.

00:23:19
Speaker 2: Yeah, but you've been hitting though. This is I'm talking about my own personal journey.

00:23:23
Speaker 1: I do feel like I've been hitting and I have it like when I'm like fully in tuned to the games because I was traveling a lot this week. I would just place a bet, but I wouldn't tweet. Then I would lose that bet, and it just happened to work out that way. Well, we'll see what happens in this next series with Toronto, because I am kind of fired up for Toronto. They like one of the the other one of the original six hockey teams in the NHL, them and five. I'm not gonna say I, but anyway, once the uh it's uh Toronto, Boston, I think Detroit, Montreal is the Rangers, one of them, the Rangers, and then there's one more, maybe the no Phillies. Not Philly's not one of the original six. Anyway, this is for every do it. Okay, yeah, I'll do it. But anyway, nineteen sixty seven is the last time they won a Cup. They've had the best record they could ply they've had since nineteen sixty seven. In the last couple of years they've gone into the playoffs and then just like just fumble the back. They have been a team that should have won the first round, they don't win the first round. They finally get over that hump of beating Ottawa in the first round, and I just got this feeling, boys, I got this feeling the Maple Leafs are gonna take the Cup this year. And I had it right before the playoffs, and I'm putting I'm putting my name behind them for the rest of time, well for the rest of this year. Then I go back to the Preds immediately.

00:24:49
Speaker 2: The no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, I do have a second team.

00:24:53
Speaker 1: Okay, as long as it's not the Maple Leafs were good.

00:24:56
Speaker 2: It's the Capitals. Yeah, okay, that's yeah, Capitals. I just again, I'm a little gun shy, but I do have a little bit of equity into in the Capitals being there in Washington, that the Capitals were the first there's the first team where I got to experience playoff hockey, and it is it's unmatched. Playoff hockey is unmatched because I didn't really go to Blues games growing up. I didn't really go to any so when I was with the Redskins like getting to go to Caps games. It is absolutely sick to be in this atmosphere.

00:25:25
Speaker 4: Don't do that.

00:25:27
Speaker 2: N Yeah, but do you want to me to name another player?

00:25:33
Speaker 1: That's okay. You don't need to know the whole entire team to put your name behind somebody. As he retired, he's thirty seven years old.

00:25:44
Speaker 2: I had a kid, Come on, come on, hey, Tom Wilson.

00:25:51
Speaker 1: Nice, nice, So let's le let's do this on now. If the Capitol has been there forever too, if the Capital is in uh in Toronto, make it to the Eastern Conference. Fine, we gotta go to a game.

00:26:02
Speaker 2: See, we can talk about that.

00:26:03
Speaker 1: Yeah, anytime kind of travel ata travel. This man is the hardest.

00:26:11
Speaker 2: I literally said, we can talk about that.

00:26:12
Speaker 1: Yeah, but the way you said, I know you. I've known you for seven years now, eight years.

00:26:16
Speaker 2: And there's been times where I say, let's talk about it, we do.

00:26:18
Speaker 1: It, and I just say to myself, Oh, I'm gonna have to really press him. So I have to know if I really want to do this, to get this done, That's why.

00:26:24
Speaker 2: I'd be sick to go to It'd be sick to go to DC for a Caps.

00:26:27
Speaker 1: Game or Toronto for I heard Toronto just goes so hard. I heard they are all about they like the they like the Dallas Cowboys in the NHL.

00:26:36
Speaker 2: People just know we can get plugged in with the Caps. Okay, fair enough. Yeah, I don't know.

00:26:40
Speaker 1: I have a zero plug other than FANDOL sportsbook. That's all I got. What else we got going on? Boys? We got an ad Kentucky Derby.

00:26:49
Speaker 2: Let's do it.

00:26:50
Speaker 5: I talk about A comment was made too that two and oh against Nebraska will have to get into that.

00:26:55
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's true.

00:26:56
Speaker 1: Yeah, we do have some news before we do it. Any real ads. By the way, Burt Kreuischer's too. Dates coming up. This is a real ab July eighteenth, He's in Winnipeg. August ninth, He's in Halifax. If you don't know Halifax, watch the movie Goon Halifax Highlanders. August twenty third, Spokene, Washington, August twenty fourth, Calgary. 00:27:51
Speaker 1: Keep the bad news coming. Michigan lost our president. He dipped. He went to Florida.

00:27:57
Speaker 2: Something's brewing that wait When did he leave.

00:27:59
Speaker 1: I think it was this past week, right, Yeah, he just he hit the transfer portal, decided to go to Florida. And this guy he came in made a massive splash. Everyone's like, dude, this guy is the man, the president. This dude is like he's gonna be here forever. Everybody loves him. And then Kevin Bacon, he'd had a nice couple of comments. He's a guy, he's a professor at Michigan, has wrote a bunch of books. He's like the biggest splash you've ever seen as a president with the most underwhelming departure.

00:28:25
Speaker 4: Of all time.

00:28:25
Speaker 1: Even his statement was like, Kevin Bacon's word is not mine, insincere. So he dips goes to Florida. Then all of a sudden, I gotta wake up this morning to Garrett Hargas sending me an article saying, uh oh about Searon Moore, your guys, coach self imposed two game suspension, and he decided to pick two games, and one of those games happened to be Nebraska. A bunch of ways you can look at that. Does he have to do two in a row, or does he feel that good about Nebraska? That's the question, we'll.

00:28:52
Speaker 2: Confident think to legally do two in a row. He didn't choose week one because we too Oklahoma. He played at Oklahoma. He wants to coach against Oklahoma.

00:29:03
Speaker 5: And then it's out there that there's a potential for being a lot more games, and this is Michigan trying to get ahead of it. So they've hand selected these two.

00:29:12
Speaker 1: How much long are we going to do?

00:29:13
Speaker 5: This is the question you tell us?

00:29:15
Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right, like NCAA, let's make a decision. Let's move on, let's move forward. All the coaches have already dipped. Searon Moore is out there carrying the flag of Michigan. We beat Ohio State every single year, Like, let's just what are we doing? Like it's over, it's move on. We won the Natty, Get over it?

00:29:31
Speaker 2: Yeah you know, yeah. I think they're trying to figure out the entire punishment for you guys.

00:29:36
Speaker 1: The entire punishment. We've done it. Like the games against top five teams are the two hardest games, really the three hardest. I said Maryland was gonna be difficult too, Penn State, Ohio State. Sharon Moore had to step in as an interim head coach for those games he had to find out while they got to pencate the men they landed Penzate. They old, by the way, you can't come with us anymore. So he dips. There was a team in a blender, a team with a bad culture would have immediately. They ended up going on winning all three of those games, end up winning the national championship. Then all the coaches go and dip get out of there.

00:30:07
Speaker 2: Okay, so there's now because they know stuff's coming.

00:30:10
Speaker 1: Connor Stallions is in high school football now like, and Searan Moore is self imposing too. It's like, what more we gonna do? What more do we need to do.

00:30:19
Speaker 2: They're trying to uncover all the details. You gotta trust the legal process.

00:30:22
Speaker 1: They're kicking a can, is what they're doing. Brother, They're just kicking a can and it's all good, dude.

00:30:25
Speaker 2: They haven't been able to dial down exactly everything you guys did because when you cheat and you lie, it takes a longer time to uncover it all. So there's been like small punishments, incremental punishments like as it's happened.

00:30:37
Speaker 1: I feel like you're just being nasty.

00:30:38
Speaker 2: No, I'm trying to I'm trying to give you an unbiased opinion about it.

00:30:41
Speaker 1: Yeah, they could have cheated, they could have lied. But I mean we had Connor on here just because he was like super diligent about everything he did. Does that mean he cheated.

00:30:52
Speaker 2: I mean, you have your conversations with Connor Stallions. I have my conversations with Connor Sallius. I know there's two different opinions in here. Well, we won't get into it all.

00:31:03
Speaker 1: But I'll say this, we just keep on going. We just we were just gonna keep on keeping on.

00:31:07
Speaker 2: That's what we're gonna it. Does bum me out that Searan Wore is not gonna be there for the bust and.

00:31:10
Speaker 1: Ball I know, I know, I know, I know because it is.

00:31:16
Speaker 12: Other games.

00:31:18
Speaker 2: Should we call Searan if you want to?

00:31:21
Speaker 1: No, I'm not gonna do it.

00:31:24
Speaker 2: If you want to, I'll call him after.

00:31:26
Speaker 1: We'll have a conversation, you.

00:31:27
Speaker 2: Know, like like zoom out. It's if he's going to coach in the Oklahoma game, you want to get the next two out of the way because you're you're most important.

00:31:36
Speaker 1: Yeah season, Yeah, back half the season, and he went to Oklahoma. That's gonna be a very personal game for him. He's gonna want that one and it's in Oklahoma. But are you this year? Huh?

00:31:46
Speaker 2: I have no clue.

00:31:47
Speaker 5: They're stoked on their quarterback, but they've just been getting worse and worse over the last three years. Venables hot hot seat, hot seat, mid season hot seat level.

00:31:56
Speaker 1: That's tough.

00:31:58
Speaker 2: Is who do you need to look at for some future stuff? And that might be Florida.

00:32:01
Speaker 1: Seriously, they're gonna, Yeah, Flora's gonna be nasty.

00:32:05
Speaker 2: That quarterback what's his name, DJ Way, he's a stud your guys was president going over there.

00:32:10
Speaker 1: It's kind of like they're he's the study.

00:32:11
Speaker 2: They're building, they're pouring into what could be happening over these next couple of years.

00:32:15
Speaker 1: God damn. Because they had the hardest schedule in all college football last year, right.

00:32:19
Speaker 5: Yeah, and bad Way didn't even play most of.

00:32:21
Speaker 2: The year really, and when he started playing, they were good. They were nice. Bro. It'll be fun too to have Florida like good in college football because I just you know, the Tim Tebow day.

00:32:29
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's when they were high school in Florida. That's when were in high school. Was the Tim Tebow Every kid wanted to be Tim Tebow.

00:32:34
Speaker 2: Yeah, they'd have like the they'd have like you know, Nike, you would work with them on the sleeves where they have the different color sleeve under their uniform. Yeah, they were they were fired.

00:32:42
Speaker 1: Yeah, that blue and orange kind of goes hard to Kentucky Derby. Did you watch it?

00:32:49
Speaker 2: I watched it a little bit, but I mean we couldn't. We couldn't put anything on.

00:32:53
Speaker 1: Yeah. When you can't, when you can't put money on something like that, it's tough to just go.

00:32:58
Speaker 2: And yeah, I was watching the horses run a little little bit. Yeah, I was.

00:33:00
Speaker 1: Watching them, watching them gals gallup.

00:33:02
Speaker 2: Yeah, they're talking about, Oh they're good that the weather where it rains a little bit. Yeah, I saw because we draw the hat final game, but I saw that he was kind of like one of the favorites, so, oh we might have a we might have a horse. But I'll be honest with you, I didn't watch it.

00:33:14
Speaker 9: A whole lot.

00:33:16
Speaker 2: I had it on his background noise, but I didn't like I wasn't like tuned in and locked into it all. Yeah.

00:33:21
Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll be honest, I didn't see any of it. I was in Canada. I don't think they even know what horses are up there. It just didn't work out for me up there. Yeah, it didn't.

00:33:29
Speaker 5: What I think they should do is if it's bad weather like that, they should postpone because I want to see the horses at their best.

00:33:36
Speaker 1: Uh hell, do you just post all the people show up?

00:33:41
Speaker 5: I mean, I'm just saying, if this is the big marquee event of the year, I want to see everyone at their best.

00:33:47
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:33:47
Speaker 1: But there's something about horses running as fast as they can, slinging mud, and the jockeys that are just covered in mud. When they're all finished up, one of them is crying because they want the other ones were crying because they lost. There's something about that.

00:33:59
Speaker 5: I feel you, But I want to see the horses.

00:34:02
Speaker 2: Yeah you want.

00:34:03
Speaker 1: I mean, do you just postpone every football game when it's raining.

00:34:06
Speaker 5: It's different.

00:34:09
Speaker 1: Everyone just does indoor.

00:34:13
Speaker 2: And it's like the training that these horses do, like they get taken care of, like they're just supreme athletes. Like, yeah, there's gonna be some adversity, it's not gonna be it's not gonna be a beautiful day every time you step on the course.

00:34:24
Speaker 1: What is wild? Does every every horse in the Kentucky Derby was a descendantive secretariat, which is dope. Yeah, if I knew a lot more about horses, I'd be a lot more fired up about that situation, a lot more fired up. But that's the Kentucky Derby.

00:34:38
Speaker 2: It was hard for me to watch too, because we uh ruin to a birthday party over the weekend, and so we got home after that birthday party and she wanted to essentially like foster this balloon. She named it Bapa, and so we had to play with this balloon like all afternoon when we were putting her down.

00:34:53
Speaker 1: There kids in balloons, man, I still understand she would have to put the balloon down for bed.

00:34:59
Speaker 2: It was an entire thing.

00:35:00
Speaker 5: Would you pop it?

00:35:01
Speaker 2: No? No, I was terrified. I'm like, hey, sweetheart, we can't let this balloon pop, like it will.

00:35:06
Speaker 5: Just like sometimes things die.

00:35:08
Speaker 1: Yeah, let them know.

00:35:11
Speaker 2: Charles trying to tell her like, hey, sweetheart, like it's not a human, it doesn't have a heartbeat, because she's just like if she can't put the if she can't put bob Bob down for bed for bedtime, and like give it a hug. She's like, I love bob Ba, And she was just like hugging it, trying to give it kisses and three squeezes.

00:35:27
Speaker 1: What about this balloon was there had to be a lot of balloons at this party.

00:35:30
Speaker 2: There was a lot of balloons, but she was playing with the one. She wanted to take one home, and when she took it home, she wanted it to do everything that she was doing. She wanted that like you know what I mean.

00:35:39
Speaker 1: Yeah, kids always have it, but of picking like the most fragile thing. Yeah that is. Yeah, they just the balloon situations so wild because when wind would have wind or will it whenever their birthday is, we obviously put a lot of balloons down. We're just like, you know, blow them up. They're lay on the ground. They all get so fired up, and so you got to distract and when we just assassinate, you know, and then they go to Batti take got like ten more, and then the next day you take got a couple more.

00:36:04
Speaker 2: It's just they just get fascinated with the most random things. Like we'll be at the park and she wants to take this leaf home and she wants to leave the slit her in the car.

00:36:10
Speaker 1: What's going through that brain for that to happen? It's crazy leaf, Do you want to eat some food? And she'd be like, shout out kids, man, yeah, shout out kids. All right, what we got? We feel good?

00:36:25
Speaker 2: Oh? Hey, did you see the uh did you see Dave Fortnoy's video about the juice? Yeah?

00:36:30
Speaker 1: Bro, that shit is nuts, Like, who the fuck would do that?

00:36:33
Speaker 2: Like, I mean, I mean we got some fucked up people. Like people are gonna do that, especially kids like twenty something year olds that are drunk in a bar and they think it's funny.

00:36:42
Speaker 1: What's funny? But they might have race.

00:36:45
Speaker 2: Like in their world, they might have like an ideology that is like fuck the juice, so they think it's funny to do something like that. We see a lot of fucked up stuff. It's like, is it surprising? No, but I do think it is they mess with the wrong one, Yeah.

00:36:59
Speaker 1: And sending them any logical Yeah, let's just let's just say in a world where it's okay, like that joke is funny in whatever world, why go to the barstool bar and do that? Why? Like we're Dave Portinoy, who is like who is Jewish proud of being Jewish, was at the UFC in Miami calling what's his name Bright. Yeah, Bryce Mitchell and Nazi and waving a Jewish flag. You're gonna go into that guy's bar and you're gonna put the Jews on. They were what they were doing, you think?

00:37:30
Speaker 5: So, yeah, for sure. I mean the fact that you see.

00:37:32
Speaker 2: The photos of these dudes.

00:37:33
Speaker 1: No, I haven't seen the photos, but I saw Dave's three and a half minute rant about how you got one girl on the phone talking how dumb she is. She's like, can I call you back? He's like no, like these people getting fired. Guys are on the phone with him crying like please, like the.

00:37:45
Speaker 2: Guys who are doing it. He's like, you have one hour to me. Feel like you're trying to make this right.

00:37:50
Speaker 1: But how do you like, what do they do?

00:37:52
Speaker 2: Nothing?

00:37:53
Speaker 1: Like, what can you do? You're cooked?

00:37:56
Speaker 2: Bro.

00:37:57
Speaker 1: Imagine being on Dave Portnoy's bad side is one thing? Like be actually be on Dave's bats That is not a bad thing. It's when Dave hates you.

00:38:04
Speaker 2: And he hates these kids.

00:38:05
Speaker 1: Yeah, he's just he's a ruiner of lives.

00:38:07
Speaker 2: He can do it, dude.

00:38:08
Speaker 5: But imagine being the manager or the bottle girl, whoever it was that was placing it on like he was ready to go, and no one sat there in the back room and go, are we sure about this?

00:38:20
Speaker 1: Guys?

00:38:20
Speaker 2: I think he was saying that one of the girls was like one of the waitresses was trying to push back a little bit, but ultimately it still went through because you're right. It's like when you're sent together, it's like, hey, guys, we're not doing that. And then the culture of what you guys can't get out of here right now anyway, Yeah, and the.

00:38:34
Speaker 1: Culture of like clubs and the sparkler's going off, everyone just so fucking fired up. Yeah, fuck the juice clip that.

00:38:45
Speaker 12: The video of it that no one in the booth actually like looks stoked. They're all kind of like, oh fuck, you can tell they thinking.

00:38:52
Speaker 4: Some of the other.

00:38:53
Speaker 12: People are like, this is not right.

00:38:55
Speaker 2: Could you imagine the one that's as dumb as decisions you can make.

00:38:59
Speaker 1: Being the one girl in there that's pushing back a little bit, you know, like in that culture of like clubs and bars and bottle surface and all that, like everyone's kind of like trying to be mister cool guy. She's like, hey, maybe we shouldn't do this, and she probably got, you know, made.

00:39:10
Speaker 2: Fun of for it.

00:39:11
Speaker 12: You gotta be the one that's like.

00:39:12
Speaker 1: You gotta be you gotta be the one who always had a history.

00:39:15
Speaker 2: Yes, and the fact that they thought it was cool like what losers. Yeah, imagine like twenty twenty years from now, they're like setting you know, a fire pit, or they're sitting with some friends and somebody asked a question like what's the you know, they ask like some deep question like what's the biggest lesson you've learned in life? And they're like, I gotta sit down, Like, hey, I got a story for you. When I was twenty something years old, I did this fuck did juice sign and the owner of the bar was Dave Portnoy. Everybody's like what And then you're like he sent me to Auschwitz for however long. They're going to get educated to learn about whatever it is, and it's like that's their learning moment. They're like, I've been sober ever since, Like I haven't drake since.

00:40:00
Speaker 1: I was just sitting there like, hey, is there anybody Jewish here? No, I'll tell the story like it's just that shit is crazy, man.

00:40:08
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, they fucked up of all the people too. Did you see do you guys known as Bilzarian getting his comments.

00:40:18
Speaker 1: And Dave's yeah, what's what's.

00:40:21
Speaker 9: He up to?

00:40:21
Speaker 2: You know, Dan Bolzerian's on the complete other side.

00:40:24
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, he's on the he's about that sign.

00:40:26
Speaker 2: Yeah, he's about that sign.

00:40:27
Speaker 1: Yeah.

00:40:28
Speaker 2: And then one of them I think he said like you look like you sound like a bitch, or he said something to him, and then that he wrote up another thing. How about synonym here to learn about X, Y and Z. But Basian was like in a couple.

00:40:39
Speaker 1: Of them days in the camp of like maybe the hall cost didn't happen.

00:40:43
Speaker 2: That's it's either that or he's like this other thing happened before that. That's way worse and way bigger. But nobody talks about it because all this deep historical conspiracy. I have no clue. I truly have zero clue. He fights, he fights the war on the like the other side.

00:41:01
Speaker 1: I know. I wonder what pieces of information he saw where he likes, like, I truly believe this now, Ban He's not the guy I'm going to ask for advice on things you.

00:41:10
Speaker 2: Want to have, like a good oh ship. Scroll just go to Dan Bolzerian's profile and like scroll through his replies him replying to certain things.

00:41:18
Speaker 1: He's just gone crazy.

00:41:19
Speaker 2: Jesus Christ.

00:41:19
Speaker 1: You remember seeing him at UFC.

00:41:22
Speaker 2: He just looked like an action bigger he did. He looked like a small soldier. He looked like that, dude.

00:41:27
Speaker 1: Yeah, Chip, hey, Chip Hazard from small soldiers. Yes, small like like two and a half in sam shorts, like just yeah, he was just a ball of muscle, a ball of Jewish hating muscle. Yeah, you sound like a bitch.

00:41:44
Speaker 2: That is crazy, yeah, dude.

00:41:47
Speaker 1: Yeah, So I ended up having so these kids are actually going to Aschwitz, I think, so actually traveling to Germany, going to Auschwitz and and figuring out I mean, that's kind of who's paying for it.

00:41:58
Speaker 5: They they even I think that what they're to do is make it as like Red Eye as possible to where it's like they're not lie there. They go there, do the tour and then fly back like right after you want to.

00:42:10
Speaker 2: Yeah, because always working with Robert Kraft from New England, they have the program or something to where they're tapping into that.

00:42:18
Speaker 5: To do it, you got to put them on spirit over there. Oh yeah, yeah, put them on the boat.

00:42:25
Speaker 2: Yeah. You after we get off this bust, you gotta go see photos of these dudes.

00:42:30
Speaker 1: Yeah, I think for the next half an hour after we got off this bus, I'll be looking at Dan Baseoian reply comments.

00:42:36
Speaker 2: What these kids are up to?

00:42:37
Speaker 1: What do these kids look like?

00:42:38
Speaker 5: They they look like exactly how you think they'd look.

00:42:42
Speaker 1: I think shaped heads.

00:42:44
Speaker 5: No, no, no, not like that.

00:42:47
Speaker 1: I don't know what kind of kind of cat like here.

00:42:50
Speaker 2: It seems like they've had like work done.

00:42:54
Speaker 5: Tony whoa to.

00:42:58
Speaker 2: Well, you gotta take a shot at Tony.

00:43:00
Speaker 4: He's the man.

00:43:00
Speaker 1: Stop stop you guys keep doing this. He's gonna want to actually do something.

00:43:04
Speaker 2: When on that note, though, was Battle Camp still top ten on Netflix? When do we know season for a second? A second season?

00:43:14
Speaker 6: So?

00:43:14
Speaker 1: Uh, Usually they do numbers on seven days, which we we were told it's doing great, But twenty eight days is when we'll know if they're like, Okay, we're going to do a season two or not. So I'm kind of just sitting limbo and just wait. But then I think to myself, like, when would we ever do this? Like with our schedule, am I going to be able to go and host something for a month.

00:43:35
Speaker 2: It's a it's been a sick it's been a sick concept.

00:43:38
Speaker 5: The finale is awesome for I'm not gonna spoil it for anybody, but y'all need to watch the finale.

00:43:42
Speaker 2: Is it good?

00:43:43
Speaker 5: Oh yeah? I love the challenges, mane. The challenges are so creative.

00:43:48
Speaker 1: I love the spelling Bee.

00:43:49
Speaker 5: They had Taylor running the spelling Bee, gonna do a.

00:43:53
Speaker 1: Spelling be I thought, I literally think, I thought about you guys. It was like, when they see this, they're the last run spelling b But those words were crazy.

00:44:02
Speaker 5: Crazy easy. He misspelled quail.

00:44:04
Speaker 1: Yeah, he was like they were like quail.

00:44:06
Speaker 2: He was like, damn and did shoot.

00:44:09
Speaker 1: Onm like her? He spelled a completely different word heard.

00:44:12
Speaker 5: They asked him spelled ecosystem. He thought they said echo echosystem and then my brains maybe through the match, but maybe not. Yeah, Taylor spelled advantage A D VAN V A N T A g E. You get better.

00:44:30
Speaker 1: Come on, because all those words are saying. It was basically waiting for that question. I was like, quail q q U A I L not that hard ecosystem. You guys don't want to worry about ecosystem. We're sellid on that one E C O S Y S T E M. Come on, now, you cookie it's just what it is. Man. We got to know these words, guys, but it was a lot of fun.

00:44:54
Speaker 5: If you do another season, they should let us come up with They should let bust and come up with a challenge.

00:44:59
Speaker 1: If we do another season, I want someone from the bus in the show.

00:45:02
Speaker 5: If they don't allow it, they should let you.

00:45:04
Speaker 2: If somebody on the on the Bus got to be on the show, Jared Beeman.

00:45:09
Speaker 5: He wouldn't be able to handle it.

00:45:10
Speaker 4: Bro.

00:45:11
Speaker 1: That's my top two votes would be JP or Jack. I think they will because Jared could easily get voted out immediately, and I feel like Jack will do a good job athletically enough. They're good team players. I think they would be solid.

00:45:29
Speaker 2: I think Jared might be Jared's That's what I'm saying that the characters. The characters on the show, it's like you being the host. The concept is awesome. You have all these things, and then you just have cameras on these just different types of people outside of Tony. It's not like you're showing up to watch these people do a show, but you end up kind of like loving it because there they all have these quirks, and I just think Jared would be so funny. Bro. Whether he's overthinking it, it doesn't matter. You just let jaredy.

00:46:01
Speaker 1: Just let Jared. But would Jared show himself because he doesn't even want to be on the back of the bus podcast. He doesn't want to be on camera.

00:46:09
Speaker 2: That's the best part.

00:46:10
Speaker 5: The only Yeah, Jared would crush. We would just have to be there for him when he returns in the months leading up to the show coming out, because you know he'd be met unraveling a little bit. Yeah, Like, now, Jared, trust me, everyone is going to like you.

00:46:22
Speaker 1: Just everyone's gonna like you. It comes out like who it was tough?

00:46:27
Speaker 5: Why were you deeming jaredy?

00:46:29
Speaker 1: Yeah?

00:46:29
Speaker 2: No, but it was well thought of. I love the like with the wheel, like you'll kind of run it like it's a vote, Like it's got all these different nuances to like kind of the gaming aspect of it to where some chance some it's like, you know, people know who's voting for who, maybe they don't know who's voting for who, and then ultimately it doesn't matter because then it's like up to the fate of the wheel, right, you know what I mean?

00:46:49
Speaker 1: If your name's in there. One time that we saw a couple of times in the.

00:46:52
Speaker 2: Game, right, like those couple of episodes where somebody voted on one person, it just fills up, and then somebody who's just on their once goes home and it just shocks everything. And then leaking into that afterwards, everybody knows like damn, they were going for me the whole time, right, and it starts building up all these storylines with trying to go after each other.

00:47:07
Speaker 1: That's what I was impressed by Avery, because Avery, in the beginning of the show was the one that she was. It was her and Irena or her and Lexi. In the first Wheel.

00:47:17
Speaker 5: Ceremony, I forgot about Irena.

00:47:19
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I had a tough showing, but uh yeah, Avery was like voted for a bunch and then all of a sudden, she just like did a great job of like going under the radar because I didn't know. I still have not like watched the show. The only part of the show I've watched was with you guys. But like I would just show up and hey, we think they're going for this person, and then I would kind of just notice how Avery was like public enemy number one or two, and then all of a sudden she's like halfway through the thing, I'm like, man, she must be just handling herself right in camp because it is fun the way like challenges athletically. Then you add the punishment so the people who win have a little bit of power over to see if they want to get you on the wheel to kind of add a couple extra names, and then it's a vote, so it's popularity and then it all comes down a chance at the end.

00:48:00
Speaker 2: Yeah, like if you're on there, we want spoil. But that one contestant where their name, their name was only on their one time they were also in the challenge or what it was, it called the punishment challenge. They win the punishment challenge. That was the ice cold that was the cold tuble where you gotta hold your breath. Yeah, that person wins all the stuff and does all things right and they're very loved and favored in the game, and then there their names on there one time and it gets hit and then they go home.

00:48:23
Speaker 5: It's crazy at the end, you want your name on the wheel for the finale, which is a nice twist.

00:48:29
Speaker 1: Yeah, that dude, I wish we could. I mean the ending with the planks were trying to be my favorite one.

00:48:38
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:48:39
Speaker 5: Yeah, it's just the challenge. It's not even the spoil.

00:48:41
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:48:42
Speaker 1: I was gonna tell something about somebody that was in it that was kind of scary that happened during production because.

00:48:48
Speaker 5: I was mad about one thing that happened on there. I felt like there should have been more force.

00:48:52
Speaker 1: I'm with you on that, the thing that we want you on that, but also if if you were me in that position, like being a part of it, I'm thinking to myself, there's no way I'm gonna rest, but you have to go.

00:49:01
Speaker 5: Up here, right. It was like a little kid that won't go off.

00:49:03
Speaker 2: The diving board.

00:49:04
Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, but it was like, obviously you're up there, bro that that tower is high. I mean, when we're up there shooting that portion, I'm thinking, yeah, that's scary to stand up there. But there was one individual who was not afraid of dropping because they've done the drop before and they knew that the plank they were going on was going to be a drop plank, and they have their harness on but they're not clipped in, and they just go, Okay, I guess I'll just go And they walk out on the plank with nothing on, and they have like one step on and like me, the camera people, the production people screaming in my ear like grab grab like and I'm like, oh, get them back, and they had to clip them up and then go out. But this dude, I've given away a little bit. But this dude was like so lase fair about it ends up dropping but he could have like, legit just ruined the whole show.

00:49:54
Speaker 2: What ruined everything? Go check it out battle Camp on Netflix.

00:49:58
Speaker 1: Yeah.

00:49:58
Speaker 2: Also the Grudge, my.

00:49:59

00:50:58
Speaker 8: Dude.

00:50:59
Speaker 1: George Kittle's new cast run of applause for George Kittle, friend of the bus, one of the boys. I know this happened last Tuesday, but we didn't get a chance to talk about a lot of things unfolded. George Kittle reached out to the boys said, hey, got this news. Do you want to break it? We say, yes, absolutely, we want to break it. Becomes the highest paid tied end in NFL history by point one. He's signed a nineteen point one million dollars per year contract forty million total and guarantee thirty five million at signing plus five million and twenty twenty seven. Unreal, awesome. We have this brainstorm. We're getting graphics ready, Coop's crushing it. There's a little thing tank in the back. How do we Hey, six am, this is gonna go out boom. The information goes out. I'm sitting there and for my little red light, I say, let's see what's going on here? Pop on the old search bar on the X. What do I see? I see Rap, I see Ian Rapport, who's a great guy. I see NFL and Pro Football Talk all want to talk about the news, but don't want to give credit to the people that gave the news. So will Compton doing will Compton things decided to handle business?

00:51:58
Speaker 2: Yeah, we had to take a walk that my morning coffee. I saw Chefty he was giving us credit.

00:52:02
Speaker 1: I did see the man.

00:52:03
Speaker 2: I did see Ian like quote tweet the Busting with the Boys tweet and say what deal got done? Or he said something that essentially gave credit to busting. But then his next tweet was writing out everything contractually. And then the NFL uses that because they're paying Ian, so they're boosting him. And then yeah, the Pro Football Talk when they weren't giving us credit, and then they went back by being like, oh, your credit's right here, So they went in and edited the article to make it seem like they had credit there for us the whole time. Yeah, and since it's like, you know, I know Ian, we know Ian, I know he's with the Pat mcaview boys, so I know he's like one of the boys. So I'm thinking, like, as I'm doing this walk thing, he'll understand and get the joke and everything else. He did to an extent, but he did facetimey. He like he reached out to Delaney, Hey, can I get Can I get Will's numbers?

00:52:46
Speaker 1: Llody Walker?

00:52:47
Speaker 2: Yeah. Delane's like, oh, let me ask him. So Delaney calls and said, oh, yeah, yeah, give it to give it a rap. And I answered him like, oh, look who it is. I got a little shit grin on my face. And he's like, interesting video you had yesterday. It's like, yeah, I thought so too. He's like, that's an interesting perspective. And it wasn't. It wasn't like full jokes at first. It was more of like he I think he felt some type of a little to some type of you don't want to make it seem like he sens that he doesn't get a blah blah blah. I think he felt like a type of way to an extent about the video, and so I was just like, oh, yeah, what was h what was your perspective? And he kind of gives out he was kind of he was kind of kind of telling me why the NFL, like why it goes the way it does. He's like, nobody really gives a whole lot of credit anymore. I was trying to do my thing. He's like, look, I'm fired up that you guys got the George Kittle news. Even though I felt like I was on an inside track, He's like, I see cheft. He gave you guys the credit. He had to put a put a little thing. He had to put a little thing in there. But he's like, I saw a chef to give you credit. I even quote tweeted you guys and and gave you a thing. But I'm essentially when I'm writing out, I'm verifying. And then obviously the NFL. He's like the NFL. I'm an employee of the NFL, so it's like NFL ESPN. They'll promote their guys in house who kind of report on the news, and you kind of know that the whole time, and I'm just like, you know, I was making it seem like, you know, I was just you were kind of the vessel because it's like the NFL's going you kind of don't know who's behind those profiles of the NFL. So no, that Ian's tight end. He's also a boy. It's like, I'm gonna use him. He's gonna be the vessel to try to get to the NFL. So I was just doing a fun thing and he's like, look, you know, he's like, if if we have to fight, you know, I had to. I had to. I had to scrap with that dude at the Starbucks and then we started laughing. I was like, oh to oh yeah, so it was everything was good. The beef was squashed. There wasn't even beef because a dude. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

00:54:32
Speaker 1: He was like, understand the joke.

00:54:34
Speaker 2: Yeah. I was like, legitimately was just messing around. I think he did know that, but I also think at the same time he was like, you know, he just wanted to talk about the video. Yeah, He's like, tell Taylor. I said, what's up? You boys? Keep crushing and keep doing what you're doing. And I was like, I'm gonna put up a tweet if you don't mind, and talk about your little Hey, I kind of heard about the scrap at Starbucks. I want no smoke, I want no problems. But yeah, everything was good. Good.

00:54:55
Speaker 1: What was the deal with the Starbucks.

00:54:58
Speaker 2: So at the draft, if you remember, there was a big storyline of two media people like getting after it out of Starbucks, and it was Ian and I don't know who the other guy is? Do we do?

00:55:08
Speaker 5: We know who the other Jordan Schultz.

00:55:10
Speaker 2: Let's just make a friend of the pod. Yeah, I have no clue, but I remember they were talking about on the MacFee Show the next day. There's like a big scrap, but apparently it wasn't like a It was just like a confrontation. There was some yelling and shouting, but I don't think it ever got physical.

00:55:23
Speaker 1: Inside scoop World, man, there's only a handful of boys.

00:55:27
Speaker 5: That's hilarious because so when it was going viral, I guess maybe between you and Ian, he followed me. I think he followed somebody else in the back and he sent a DM like hey love the show.

00:55:36
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he's a he's a homie. It was just like when I'll give him the little shit grin, he was like, oh, interesting perspective. I'm just thinking, like I'm fully joking around.

00:55:43
Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying.

00:55:44
Speaker 1: You don't want to actually, oh Schultz DM.

00:55:46
Speaker 5: He's like, love the show, love what each other doing after all that beef was going.

00:55:50
Speaker 1: Dude, I don't know if this is true or not, but I'm pretty sure Schultz's dad or somebody like was like CEO or like one of like their families and one of the founders of Starbucks.

00:55:59
Speaker 5: Yeah, they're like that really.

00:56:02
Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember I remember getting ah. I remember my agent reaching out to me and being like, hey, this guy, Jordan Schultz's like starting to become like an insider guy. Do you mind going on his YouTube show? This is like twenty seventeen or something like that.

00:56:15
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:56:16
Speaker 1: So, boy, another another version of somebody who their parents are super successful, trying to make a lane for themselves, just like Arthur Smith. So shout out Schultz, dudent. We should get a rapping Schultz in a rough and rowdy old just on the bus, get.

00:56:31
Speaker 2: Him on the bush.

00:56:32
Speaker 1: Yeah, we're not with Barcelona. I don't know why. He's still fun, still fun times, still fun times.

00:56:37
Speaker 2: No, the whole credit world is very interesting. Yeah, it seems like with everybody inside there's oh yeah, very relive. It's like anytime those moments get to happen for us, I always see it as like such like a positive thing because you're always like the guy, Like we're always positioned as the guy going against the man, and it just helps create like, you know, fun content to make off of it. But it does seem like it's a very sensitive thing the insider world.

00:57:01
Speaker 1: Yeah, and also who gets credit?

00:57:03
Speaker 2: Do you ever see the ones where it's like, you know, say it was me and you somebody will tweet It'll be like per will and also Taylor, you know what I mean, Like they're double crediting because maybe they didn't figure out who's the first one to it, so given credit.

00:57:15
Speaker 1: The Yeah, I've seen that. I just don't. I just think about like being in that world of having to be on your phone twenty four to seven and getting the information and you have to be the first guy to it. Yeah, it sounds like a horrible job, something that I would never want to do ever.

00:57:31
Speaker 2: But hey, if players call us something, Hey do you want to break the news, we'll we'll break the news.

00:57:34
Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, those just falls right in our lap. Yeah, we will absolutely do that.

00:57:38
Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll create some chaos.

00:57:40
Speaker 1: Oh, we're gonna get you guys in the episode. But before we do, let's talk about this merch we had going on BWTV. Dot com. We got hats, we got hoodies. I put this little boy on because this little chili out National Tennessee Today. Big Fanity sweaters, Big Fanity sweaters, comfy on the inside. G you did a phenomenal job these hats right here. 00:58:59
Speaker 1: Phenomenon?

00:59:00
Speaker 2: Is that one?

00:59:00
Speaker 1: Not gas boys, it's allid, it's solid.

00:59:02
Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought that shit Charle make cookies last night. I'm sitting there, But who comes out dead day? Here's yours.

00:59:11

00:59:39
Speaker 13: Went out for one day this weekend with some friends and it was kind of rainy. It was rainy in Nashville, and it was rainy on Waverley where we were, so we had a bunch of wood already set out and obviously gets wet.

00:59:50
Speaker 4: You don't know if the fire is gonna roar like you wanted to.

00:59:53
Speaker 13: And we had a really big team effort constructed four or five people. Some people are trying to find dry wood, some people are trying to f anything we can to start this thing. And after about thirty forty five minutes, we got this thing purring.

01:00:05
Speaker 2: It was one of the best fires.

01:00:06
Speaker 13: I've ever been around. So to go from the low point of soaking what wood to a really special fire, it takes a lot for a group.

01:00:16
Speaker 8: To come together and make that happen.

01:00:18
Speaker 13: So shout out to a great camp fire and it just brings everyone together.

01:00:22
Speaker 1: God, you're right, dude, you're right. So yeah, it was fucking gass. Dude, that shit was awesome.

01:00:28

And she drew a photo of me, her and Sitting and was like, I love Aunt, Sitting and JP and this is like a nine thirty last minute thing. And I'm just like, man, this is I'm not even blood related to her, and I'm feeling that feeling that love. So I can't imagine what it's like as a parent to receive it. But shout out to those drawings that those little kids make for you.

Speaker 1: Vera nice yeah, there you go, kiss method on that one. Send it my way, beautiful shout outs all around my shout out. No free Shadow is going to go to the family barbecue and the family is something special about everyone's sitting around, everyone's having a drink, talking, catching up with everybody. When I was up in Canada this weekend with Taylor's family, they like redid Easter and Grandpa when he does this thing every year where he does like little riddles and you have to solve all of the riddles around the property in order to get your Easter egg basket. So we are having a good time doing that. Miss Tanna, Taylor's mom, she's out there grilling burgers. People are sitting up, lining up like it was like a little pot luck situation. But something about having a seven and a four year old and being the parents where you kind of just sit in the chair and truly you get to see like the village take place, where it takes a village to raise a kid. I didn't do shit. I sat there, I hung out I saw Winn and willow Win was starting to come to me, Daddy, I need your help with something.

01:03:17
Speaker 2: Before she can get the.

01:03:18
Speaker 1: Sentence out, there was an aunt coming in. Let me help you out with that sweetish smoom. She's gone. She got intercepted and gonna win out. I thought, I get it. I understand the family barbecue dynamic that is. It's wonderful.

01:03:29
Speaker 5: It's just a.

01:03:29
Speaker 1: Good time, great vibes.

01:03:31
Speaker 2: Everyone.

01:03:32
Speaker 1: You can see like everyone with their chirping at each other getting after it. A little Nash Quinn's kid was there, by the way, top five cutest kid of all time, this Nash kid, blonde hair, blue eyes, like just a cutie, a little cutie so great. My shadow goes to family barbecues. That's what it is.

01:03:49
Speaker 2: Wholesome, alesome, true classic gunner of the month, true.

01:03:54

01:05:05
Speaker 5: Thank you everybody who voted for me. Thank you to the committee, thank you to the whatever you guys would be in this situation. But it's a lot like Luke Keikley in his two interception game. Without the dB chipping the wide receiver. It never would have happened without Garrett making it happen on Spring tour, making sure we don't have to worry about anything logistically, Jack promoting the vlog clips, Mitch taking care of business on the podcast. I wouldn't be able to do my thing, so shout out to the team, Shout out to True Classic. I actually placed an order last night with another gift card Ryan gave us. So now I'm about to give me some more True Classic in Summer Beyond Alert because if I'm in that True Classic about it outside.

His his quote, he grew up in Oklahoma. Like this guy, he seems like he's got it all dialed in. Talks about being at the Raiders, talks about how that kind of relationship, the way it cracked, and the fall bail. He doesn't say names. I think I have an understanding who the names are, but he talks about, yeah, how he was treated in that situation. 01:08:28

01:08:29
Speaker 14: I gotta do it because I already told him I was gonna do it. I saw you in New Orleans. Hey, you gotta get your on busting.

01:08:34
Speaker 2: Yeah, trying to follow up with a couple of texts. You know, he changes his number quite a bit. I'm thinking, hey, do I have the up to date one right now?

01:08:42
Speaker 1: And when you said a text, it was blue, then it goes to green.

01:08:44
Speaker 2: You're like lost them In the last couple ones they were stay stayed blue. So I'm like a doe. I hit him up, hit him.

01:08:51
Speaker 1: You can only send the eyes so many times. I know I'm really just stalking this.

01:08:55
Speaker 2: Yeah, and I know he's probably grinning or something.

01:08:58
Speaker 1: Just like how many time seasons assistance before?

01:09:02
Speaker 4: And you think that's bad. You should see the coaches in this off season.

01:09:05
Speaker 2: Trying to hit you up. We're gonna tries to hit you up to all of them.

01:09:11
Speaker 1: What's going on?

01:09:12
Speaker 2: Who tries to hit you up first, and then who does that one? Think, Okay, he can probably get to him.

01:09:17
Speaker 4: See it start off.

01:09:19
Speaker 14: I feel like it start off with like you know, the interns and things like that, then your position coach. Then next thing you know, it's the head coach office coordinator. I'm like, y'all, y'all saying the same thing, like what we're gonna try to.

01:09:31
Speaker 2: Get you to do?

01:09:33
Speaker 1: Another just checking in and hey, man has off season going literally like all of that.

01:09:37
Speaker 14: I'm like, Bro, I don't, Bro, I don't even answer my phone, like I get off social media everything in off season. So I'm like, y'all gonna be talking to yourself for real. And they have been, and they was nervous. It was like we didn't think he was pulling up.

01:09:48
Speaker 4: I'm like, I'm gonna slide. I tell you I'm gonna do I'm gonna do it.

01:09:51
Speaker 2: Where do you Where do you spend your off seasons?

01:09:53
Speaker 14: It depends, man, Like either I'm at home in Oklahoma or I mean I got a house in Florida too, so I'll be kind of back and forth.

01:10:00
Speaker 2: So you go back to Oklahoma a lot.

01:10:02
Speaker 4: Yeah, smart family, Yet, Bro.

01:10:04
Speaker 1: Your story, incredible story is.

01:10:07
Speaker 2: Insane, Like there's been specials on it, there's been features and everything else, but I would love to dive into you got like you just being homeless young, Like how does a dad with five kids manage to uh, protect you guys? And what is he quota saying? Like protect your guys's destiny? Like, dive into that for us, because that is Yeah, that's a hell of a journey. Bro.

01:10:30
Speaker 14: It was honestly bro Like in that moment at that time, I didn't really fully understand like what I was going through because I was with my family and like I was like, dang, we're doing a lot of moving. But it was like that was normal for us, you know what I'm saying. So like I didn't really have the time to like process it. Like even throughout all of that, I still have fun, you know all myself.

01:10:52
Speaker 2: How old are you this when this part of the your life is?

01:10:55
Speaker 14: So it was right after my parents' divorce, so it was probably like I was probably in like fourth grade, so for like fourth grade until fourth grade until like sixth grade, and then like eighth grade. After eighth grade, like a year or so after that, and then we was kind of like stable it.

01:11:12
Speaker 4: So it was like pockets, you know what I'm saying.

01:11:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, like sixth grade to eighth grade and then breaking eighth grade and then.

01:11:18
Speaker 4: Yeah, then we stayed at the house.

01:11:20
Speaker 14: Then we stayed at a house for like a year and a half two years, and then like a little pocket again.

01:11:24
Speaker 1: So yeah, and the pocket was essentially living out of your dad.

01:11:27
Speaker 14: Suburban yeah, or like motels like hotels like all of that anywhere. We used to always try to go to somewhere where it had the free breakfast in the morning.

01:11:37
Speaker 2: Yeah, cereal gets a little serial.

01:11:43
Speaker 1: Your pockets and everything.

01:11:45
Speaker 4: Yeah for real.

01:11:46
Speaker 1: I mean obviously when you sit back now, it's an crazy story, but you're talking about like at that point, you weren't even you didn't even realize what was going on. Yeah, like you're just busy having fun being a kid like man experience, like in the moment, not looking back.

01:11:59
Speaker 14: On it in a moment, I would say it was different because I used to be upset like having you know, one pair of shoe, you know you're gonna have to make work for the whole year, or like maybe two if you if you you know what I'm saying, Lucky and like half into like uh, you know, two or three pairs, like uniforms and having to wash the me these day, or whether it's in the sink or pulling over and like you know, going to a little pump side of the side of the road, like pumping water, like having to heat up water, all of these types of things.

01:12:28
Speaker 4: It was just it was what I was used to.

01:12:31
Speaker 14: I never really I never really thought it was something different or unusual until really.

01:12:37
Speaker 4: I got to college. And when I got to college, it.

01:12:41
Speaker 14: Was like the first time I had a bed, you know, so like I'm like, damn, Like I used to sleep on the floor. I used to make a palette on the floor for like the first like month and a half. And my roommate earth Smith, he used to ask me, like, bro, like what's going on? Like so when we that was my first time like really processing it, you know what I'm saying, like really like sitting down and being like, Okay, this is not normal, Like what I've experienced, what I've gone through is not normal. Like And then it got to the point where like football was always like an atlet for me, and at Alabama, they it got to a point where they was like, man, you might want to talk to somebody like you might want to, you know, either get counseling or open up to somebody you feel like you trust about what you've been through to be able to like because I never wanted to tell the story. I never it was never it was a story that was never going to be told because I felt embarrassed by the story, you know what I'm saying, Like, so I never want Like even when I went to school, people never knew. Like only people that knew was my friends, cause they'll come over and be like where we at right now? You know what I'm saying, But like like that was really like it so like for me. We had a media guy at the time. His name was also Josh at Alabama, and he was like, man, he the one that convinced me to do it, and he was just basically telling me. He was like, man, like you don't understand how many people like have same story going on or a similar story. Uh, and you don't know how like your impact it can affect and change somebody life. And that's when I was like, you know what, Like you're right, and then that's what like I finally told the story, like I never talked about it. I'll tell people all the time that talking about it then was like the first real time I ever talked about it was, And I didn't know how therapeutic it really was for me to finally like process it, you know, So it was smooth?

01:14:29
Speaker 2: What what was uh? What was having Josh push you to do it? Were you somebody who was very quiet and they were trying.

01:14:35
Speaker 14: To like yeah, so I was quiet. I was quiet, but like I was like, I was quiet, but I got in trouble a lot, you know what I'm saying, Like a trouble maker. Like I did everything I was supposed to do when it comes to like schooling and stuff. But I used to just do dumb shit like all the time, you know what I'm saying, Like like I got in trouble for rid of my dirt bike on a quad, like just dumb shit, having Paintbay Wars in the in the dorm like you know what I'm saying. Yeah, literally, like just doing dumb stuff, you know what I'm saying. So, like it got to the point where like I have I had a son, I have my son in high school. My literally national signing day February third, my senior year. So like when I got to my junior year, and that's when I finally told the story Like my junior year. When it got to my junior year, I was kind of getting to the point where I'm like, shit is starting to get real.

01:15:34
Speaker 4: Like I'm like, all right, what am I doing?

01:15:37
Speaker 14: Like I'm gonna have to, you know, either go to school and be and be good at this, get a degree and go work, or like I need to, you know, take this football stuff kind of serious and figure it out.

01:15:46
Speaker 4: And so like as I got.

01:15:49
Speaker 14: To that point where I used to class, like I class was saving a couple of times because I just felt like the pressure, you know, the outside pressure was starting to like all right, you run out of time. And then at the same time, I'm like, okay, I'm doing everything right from the class standpoint to you know, workouts. I'm not missing no workouts. I'm like, damn, I'm not playing for real, Like I'm like, What's what's going on? And then like I finally just like spassed on saving one game, like like yeah, it was.

01:16:19
Speaker 4: One of them, Like you know, how which game was it? I remember it?

01:16:22
Speaker 14: It was all miss my junior year old Miss. I think it was the third game of the season, third or fourth game of the season, I had scored and Henry bro Henry Ruggs little brother, play linebacker and like he I dragged him. I'm like, he holding on to me, like six yards it is, I'm still grabbing me. I'm like, so we had some words. Stay through the flag, so I'm like, okay, I already know what's coming and saving you know, yeah, I already know what's coming. So I'm like, all right, saving cuss me out. I'm like, all right, I eat it, you know, like like everybody, especially when you're in the wrong, You're like, all right whatever. But then like a couple of drives go back and he came back to like cuss me out again, and I must have got up, and I'm like, yeah, we had some words.

01:17:03
Speaker 4: And then after that, like.

01:17:04
Speaker 14: We got to have time, and I was really like, it's actually the first time I'm actually fully telling this story.

01:17:11
Speaker 4: We got to halftime and I was like, I took my pass off.

01:17:14
Speaker 14: I'm like I'm done, like I'm finna go go transfer like Oregon talk. You know, I'm talking to Oregon. I'm talking Oklahoma, like I'm about to like you know what I'm saying, like figure it out. I'm like, it's my junior Year'm runn out of time. But then I talked to coach Locks, you know, he the head coach of Maryland now, and he was just basically telling me like, man, like, you don't understand that this look if you if you was to quit on your team right now and leave, like the look even.

01:17:38
Speaker 4: If you write, it's not gonna look good.

01:17:41
Speaker 14: So like I was like, you know what, like you write, I have to start processing and I ain't gonna lie to cry.

01:17:45
Speaker 4: Bro, Like I sat down cry because I'm like, bro.

01:17:47
Speaker 14: What more do y'all want me to do? You know what I'm saying, Like I'm doing everything. You're right, and y'all still.

01:17:53
Speaker 2: This might be our Buffalo wall wings. Yeah, interrupting an incredible story.

01:18:00
Speaker 1: I need to hear at the end of the story.

01:18:02
Speaker 2: He's no clue. Josh Jacobs just sitting in the garage talking about ole miss Alabama.

01:18:07
Speaker 1: Halftime pads are off. Yeah, oh my god.

01:18:11
Speaker 2: All right, so you're sitting there and it's weighing on you so much you start having tears because.

01:18:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, you're halftime.

01:18:16
Speaker 14: Yeah, So so yeah, I started it was at halftime. I started, like, you know, like literally like I'm so frustrated at the point, I'm like, I'm mad. I want to fight, honestly and like and that's the and the crazy thing is that's the first time they ever seen that side of me, you know what I'm saying. So like they always like we used to him just being quiet, like you don't never say nothing like you feel me, so like I was like amped up, and so he told me the story like, Okay, come back, it's a bad look whatever. I'm like, you know, you're right. So we come back out halftime. I'm returning punts. They kicked the ball to me, I'll return it like sixty seventy yards. And I didn't even celebrate. I just stared saving the whole time, walking to the sidelines, just staring them down the whole time. And then we at a meeting on Monday, and we basically like sat out here, like man, what's going on?

01:19:04
Speaker 4: Like we started talking.

01:19:06
Speaker 14: I'm like, man, like you say that you you know, take care of guys that you feel like, work hard and don't get in trouble and do all these things. I'm like, what more do you want me to do to be able to play? I'm scoring like when I touched the ball. I'm like, I'm it ain't like I'm playing bad, you know what I'm saying. It's just like I'm not getting too many opportunities. So I'm like, what do you want me to do? If it's not enough.

01:19:25
Speaker 4: Room for me?

01:19:25
Speaker 14: Let me know, let me move around, like you know what I'm saying type deal. And this was before you know you couldn't go play you I would have to, you know.

01:19:33
Speaker 4: So I'm like, did you read shirt? Nah?

01:19:35
Speaker 1: Okay, so you would exactly.

01:19:39
Speaker 14: So like I'm like, man like he was like you know what, Like that conversation changed everything everything, Like me and him, like we became like kind of like tight after that. Because one thing about Saving that I've learned and being around him is he respects people that talk back to them and not what I mean, like not be disrespectful, but like have the ball enough to say something back to him, you know what I'm saying. Like a lot of people walk on eggshells around him, whether they playing for him or they working for him.

01:20:08
Speaker 4: They just scared of him, you know what I'm saying.

01:20:09
Speaker 14: So like anybody that got like a little bit of he liked, you know what I'm saying, So after that, I just started playing. I started making plays, start making plays, and then the rest is history.

01:20:19
Speaker 2: I mean, but that second year too, Like didn't you break your ankle?

01:20:23
Speaker 14: Yeah, so my second year I played the whole season. So I did it.

01:20:30
Speaker 4: Like it was Mississippi State or some I think it was Mississippi State. I had fractured my ankle.

01:20:36
Speaker 14: I had like a peraneal tendon and like reconnacular surgery. So you know normally that surgery like it's like seven months. So after the literally two days after the championship game, I went and had surgery. So like the whole off season, I was like training, like trying to get back. Like the first couple of games, even my junior of my first couple of games was kind of like you know, like you you know how you feel when you got an injuries, Like it's like you there, but you're not where you was.

01:21:03
Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying. It take a little.

01:21:04
Speaker 14: Mission, like you don't like the cut, feel a little off, like you know, things like that. So like I finally got back to the swing and I was like, yeah, I'm ready, like and then it was also a blessing in disguise for me because I put on weight because all came into college one eighty five.

01:21:22
Speaker 2: Bro, and you were young. Bro, yeah you look like a kid. Like I was watching when you was doing the hat, putting on the Alabama hat and how.

01:21:30
Speaker 4: Much did you ate eighteighty five?

01:21:33
Speaker 2: I mean, he looked like a kid. Bro. It was nuts because that was like your yeah, yeah, we can get into that too.

01:21:39
Speaker 14: But going, yeah, so I put I ended up putting on thirty pounds because you know, when you when you can't really walk, all you can do is lift and like, so that was like one of like a blessing in disguise for me.

01:21:50
Speaker 4: But man, the rest was history. Man.

01:21:52
Speaker 14: Like they started scheming up plays for me. I started making plays. I'm like, okay, then I started And which was crazy was the coaches towards the end of the season. The coaches like, yeah, you need to leave. I'm like, what you mean I need to leave? I'm not even the starter, Like I haven't even started, Like what you mean leave? Like they like, go to the draft.

01:22:10
Speaker 4: I'm like huh.

01:22:12
Speaker 14: So, like the coaches really convinced me to even go. I wasn't even gonna come out.

01:22:16
Speaker 2: So after your third year, you weren't even gonna come out.

01:22:18
Speaker 4: I wasn't even gonna come out. I didn't even think that. The same year.

01:22:23
Speaker 1: The same year, and at the end of the year, the coach is scolling team, be like, you need to leave our program so our program gets worse so you can make money.

01:22:29
Speaker 14: But I'm telling you think about the coach. About the coaches is a lot of the coaches are former players. One thing about Saving is he always hires former players, so like it don't matter, He'll figure out a job for you. Like you know what I'm saying, He's that type of dude. But so, like they telling me, and I'm like, I'm like how. And then so I'm getting other you know, sources, people telling me. I'm like, first round, Like they say you the first back. I'm like, it's a guy here, Damien Harris that's like three hundred and four hundred yards away from breaking the record at Alabama. I'm like, what you mean, I'm gonna go in first round before him? Like I'm not, you know, really comprehending it, but they convinced me. And then I'm like, wow, like everything else took her ever yourself real.

01:23:10
Speaker 1: What was the reason behind you being taken over Damien Harris when he's th threehundred four n yards away, Like, was it your like catching ability like more of an all around back in their mind? Like, because that that is wild if you're essentially the number two.

01:23:23
Speaker 14: And I wasn't even number two. I was like two slash three because you know, Nag was there too.

01:23:28
Speaker 1: So like your way how stacked Alabama is?

01:23:31
Speaker 4: Yeah? Bro, So like that was the thing. Like I was like, but.

01:23:35
Speaker 1: I'm not really playing, I'm thinking I probably know why everybody that's crazy.

01:23:41
Speaker 4: Yeah, And that's the thing.

01:23:42
Speaker 14: So when I asked coach, like when I I remember coming in, Kirby Wilson was my running back coach. I remember asking like that same question. He was like, you want to know why you're the number one back. He said, you played every special teams. Nobody in this building can say anything bad about you. They say you never lay for nothing and Bama literally almost every practice, every other practice is scouts watching us at practice. So like the scouts, you know, they seeing me the whole year. Obviously I'm not like going crazy stat wise, but like yards per carry, all of that is you know up there, catching out the backfield is what main thing that I did, you know in college? So like I think that had played a role into it. But I really don't know. Bro, Like to this day, I'm like, I'll be I'll be I don't want to ask him, like how do he feel about it? But I'll be thinking about it. I'm like, cause.

01:24:32
Speaker 4: That's like if I was the guy and the third guy went over, I'd be like I would feel sick. Yeah, I would be sick, like for real. So I don't know. I mean all I can say is God for real.

01:24:45
Speaker 1: So they convince you to leave at the end of the season, what is your process? Like how quickly are now you're now looking for an agent? Because if it's not on your radar at all? How quick? Like who did you talk to you about? Like representation?

01:24:56
Speaker 2: Where do I go?

01:24:57
Speaker 4: Train?

01:24:57
Speaker 1: There's IMG, there's excess, there's all these places you go, Like how fast did you have to make those decisions?

01:25:02
Speaker 4: Yeah? So it was fast.

01:25:05
Speaker 14: So right after they used to have at Bama, they got a like I don't know, it's a certain time period where they got a day where agents can come meet you and like meet all the guys. It's like draft eligible and you sit down like with a group of guys or whatever, and you know, saving he's under like c AA and all them, so obviously they're in there and all the other people are in there.

01:25:25
Speaker 4: But I had a guy that I was close to, which was.

01:25:30
Speaker 14: Ryan Big Ryan, and he had Chad my agents over there, so Chad. So the moment I met Chad, I was like, it's something about this dude.

01:25:42
Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying. I'm like, I'm like, I don't know. And then the first time I'm.

01:25:46
Speaker 14: Actually kicked it with him, we actually went to an Earl's game in Baltimore and we got in like a little scuffle after the game, and the way he handled the scuff, I was like, this is my god.

01:26:01
Speaker 4: But I knew. I knew.

01:26:02
Speaker 14: I was like, this is this is my guy, like and we've been locked in ever since.

01:26:06
Speaker 2: Real when you're at Bama and you're not ever the future back and I know how competitive you are, how was your mentality throughout your career at Alabama when you're not like the future guy? Because when you think of Alabama, like you're right when you came out and say, oh, who's the Josh Jacobs kill because you think of Trent Richardson, you got Derrick Henry. But how was that mentality like for you as a player at Alabama when I know how competitive you are.

01:26:29
Speaker 14: The only reason why I went to Bama because I want to prove to myself that I was as good as I thought I was.

01:26:34
Speaker 4: That was literally the only reason why I went.

01:26:36
Speaker 1: Bro That is like, that's an amazing answer.

01:26:39
Speaker 14: Yeah, Like I literally felt like because all my life, I've been the underdog. All my life, I had I had five hundred yards five hunding some yards in a game in high school and still didn't have no offers.

01:26:52
Speaker 2: Did you know, like stayed in rushing yards like two years.

01:26:55
Speaker 4: In a row. My junior year, I had twelve hundred yards in four games.

01:26:59
Speaker 2: Like I'm like it didn't didn't have I didn't have none because you didn't get what bam into what December.

01:27:05
Speaker 4: I didn't get him to a basketball season.

01:27:08
Speaker 1: So after his senior year, senior year, Alabama calls, which is crazy because Alabama, the Texas, the USC's. Yeah, usually the classes are done Oklahoma, Yeah, usually their classes are done like two years in advance.

01:27:20
Speaker 14: And see that's what's crazy. So when they came, so I started getting my first offer was like new Mexico State, and I'm like, Okay, I'm like I'm cool with that because you gotta think. Like for me, the NFL was never a dream for me because it was never a reality. I've never seen nobody, you know, do it or even go far for real. So like for me, I was like, if I get to school, that's all I'm trying to do. Like I'm trying to get to school. I went to school. I majored in business manage me pre law. Like I'm like, I'm gonna take it. I'm gonna go get a real degree, you know, like try to go to work, you.

01:27:51
Speaker 4: Know what I'm saying.

01:27:52
Speaker 14: That's what I was trying to set myself up and make some connections, go to work. And so when I it became like more and more serious, I'm like I started thinking more about that, you know, but I didn't understand it. Like Bama came, Bama ended up coming, and then Oklahoma came, and then like a lot of other schools came.

01:28:11
Speaker 4: I remember the weirdest school I had was like TCU.

01:28:14
Speaker 14: I ended up getting into it with my well, my dad got into it with the with the recruiter that was recruiting.

01:28:19
Speaker 4: Because they wanted me to play dB. I saw play dB.

01:28:22
Speaker 14: So I played corner in safety and like I was, I was decent that I was decent that I was also.

01:28:27
Speaker 4: A lot faster I was.

01:28:29
Speaker 14: I was, I had I had put like this, And when I was in safety, I had four picks in the first four games and never got the ball through my side again.

01:28:40
Speaker 4: Yeah for real, Jacob z is like, I was, like, I was good.

01:28:43
Speaker 1: You were one hundred and sixty pounds white kids dying.

01:28:48
Speaker 4: No, But that's why I told him.

01:28:49
Speaker 14: But that was that was funny because the dude wanted me to play dB, and I'm like, I do not see myself hitting these dudes on this level because I wanted to do this. I wasn't wrapping up anyways. I was just booming everybody any chance I could. But Alabama came during basketball season, and actually he came coach Burtenburn's. Actually he was just when my little brother last week, my little brother goes to UAB. But he was just he was like, man, I'm out here for somebody else. He said, I'm not even here for you. He said, some guy down the road actually mentioned your name, and so that's the reason why I'm here so he was like, I'm only going to stay for like five ten minutes. He watched me at basketball practice, so you know when I see him come in, he got all the rings on. He come in with Alabama. I'm like, oh yeah, so you know I'm trying hard. I go dunk the ball like I'm looking over every time. You know, I'm like, I'm trying down. So then he ended up leaving and he came back like ten minutes later. He end up staying for two hours. Me and him just sat down and he was talking for two hours, and he was like, man, I be honest with you, Like we're really done with our recruiting, he said. But one guy that was like, we're trying to recruit. We're still waiting to see if he can even make it because his grades like academics, he was struggling to get in. So like literally like the day that I went to sign, that's when I found out that I could even go to Alabama because they called me right before and was like, yeah, he didn't make it.

01:30:14
Speaker 2: What was your game plan? If Alabama doesn't call, I.

01:30:16
Speaker 14: Was gonna go to missou Jew saw me.

01:30:21
Speaker 4: That's a crazy thing. Wing up.

01:30:25
Speaker 1: Day He's.

01:30:29
Speaker 2: Suicide watching right now, the coaching sets in the war room like, hey, he's gonna committee's gonna get.

01:30:35
Speaker 1: What happened in Alabama Because I had a visit.

01:30:38
Speaker 14: Drew Lot showed me around and I'm like, I'm like, I don't know. This is different was you know, different than anything I've ever seen. I'm like, they got landscaping. I have never seen landscape.

01:30:50
Speaker 2: Shout at Columbia Missouri landscaping. I'm like, man, this is good business school, good grade business school.

01:30:56
Speaker 4: You know.

01:30:56
Speaker 14: And then and then bad was like so I took a parcel. So that was my only two visits with Miszoo and Bama, but I took a partial. But I went to Bama and I was like, the first thing I seen was a group of girls.

01:31:08
Speaker 4: I was like yeah. I was like, yeah, I think this is gonna be for me.

01:31:13
Speaker 14: And then Jalen Hurst was actually the one that saw me around because he was early in Roly, so like he had saw me around.

01:31:20
Speaker 4: I was like, okay, like I think this is the spot to be dude.

01:31:23
Speaker 1: What was Jalen Hurts's mentality when you were around him? Is it what you see now or is he a little a little more young and immature.

01:31:30
Speaker 5: Bro.

01:31:30
Speaker 4: He's always been that way. Way when he had dread, he had.

01:31:34
Speaker 14: Dreads, so when I came in, he had dreads And he's always been like that.

01:31:39
Speaker 4: But like he's he's funnier and goofier than people think.

01:31:42
Speaker 14: Like he don't act like in the media like, but in that locker room like he is, like he's he's a guy.

01:31:47
Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying. But he's always been like like.

01:31:51
Speaker 1: Just like that, constantly just putting out amazing quotes Saving Saving.

01:31:55
Speaker 4: He got them quotes from Saving.

01:32:01
Speaker 1: That he got some of his own things.

01:32:05
Speaker 14: So you got to also think that his dad was a coach, so you can think he was been being trained this way his whole life, you know. But Saving, he is the first that I've ever seen like have a quote for everything in life literally and to have it all throughout the building, Like he got to send for like literally everything. I'm not even playing like, but Saving he's just one of them dudes that he's so different. The way he thinks, the way that he prepares, the way that he like goes about his business on a day to day basis every I've never seen somebody in my life where everything is so structured and calculated like he like if I eat at three o'clock, he eating at three o'clock every day, and if he eat a thrill too, somebody getting cused out like it was like literally like different ball, Like he was just different, bro. But that's what made me understand like why he's so special and why he is who he is because he does things that nobody else would do.

01:32:59
Speaker 1: For real, when you go from having twelve hundred yards and four games all these crazy things, you end up going to Alabama your first time walking in that locker room, and Alabama at this point is like there's first rounders.

01:33:10
Speaker 2: Every year, grown men, grown men.

01:33:12
Speaker 1: Yeah, Like, were you like maybe this is not for at any point where we're like maybe this is not for me.

01:33:17
Speaker 14: The only time I was like maybe this is not for me was when we was working out because I'm like what.

01:33:21
Speaker 4: The I'm like, did I come to run track? I'm like, did I come to run track? Or did I come to play football?

01:33:27
Speaker 1: Like trying to kill you like that, bro.

01:33:29
Speaker 4: One teens.

01:33:30
Speaker 14: We had a minimum seventeen one teens every time we ran them. We ran them once every.

01:33:35
Speaker 2: Week, seventeen one tens every.

01:33:37
Speaker 4: Week, every minimum that's if everybody make their time.

01:33:41
Speaker 1: What was the speed group time?

01:33:44
Speaker 14: What it was like, I think it was either it was thirteen, it was thirteen fourteen fifteen.

01:33:52
Speaker 4: Skills in thirteen it was that's insanely.

01:33:56
Speaker 14: But I'm telling you, bro, you had to run. You have to run eighty percent of speed to make it on time. I swear every people passing out everything, throwing up like.

01:34:06
Speaker 4: You in the weight room.

01:34:07
Speaker 1: You were like, Okay, this is fun. I can live to wait.

01:34:09
Speaker 4: They had to teach me how to wait, how to live. I never lived in college. I high school.

01:34:13
Speaker 1: You were as green as they came. Bro.

01:34:15
Speaker 4: I just still don't know power clean to this day, like I cannot do it, like I swear.

01:34:22
Speaker 2: So like that is wid That's how you put on the thirty quick literally literally, I'm like, man, so y'all get all this food.

01:34:31
Speaker 14: And that's the best part. The food, eating three or four times a day. From eating one meal a day to eating three four full course meals a day. It's different. Like Bama, bro, you we used to go in there. We had King crab, this big like.

01:34:46
Speaker 4: Steak weak you get you damned order a steak every day?

01:34:51
Speaker 2: And I know you too. You probably bringing home to go boxes.

01:34:53
Speaker 14: Yes, and you got to go boxes everything else. Bro, I'm telling you it was eating this stuff was good. But my mental coming in though, like I was small and I didn't know nobody, so obviously it was like it was like a culture shock for me.

01:35:08
Speaker 4: So I was just quiet. But I was always used to just work.

01:35:11
Speaker 14: So like after like the you know, you get over there like weeks two weeks, you soar.

01:35:15
Speaker 4: From like you know, doing that type of stuff. You kind of get acclimated.

01:35:18
Speaker 14: And then I remember, you know, in the summers, the coaches can't coach you, so like we'd have like individual like not individual, but team ran like seven on sevens and shit like that.

01:35:29
Speaker 1: Team ran seven and seven was seventeen out.

01:35:32
Speaker 4: There is that exactly?

01:35:33
Speaker 14: And every so they got a balconies that overlooks the field. They used to just sit in the balconies and watch us basically, but like I remember, like everybody used.

01:35:45
Speaker 4: To come up to me and was like, who is this little dude with the fro? Because I came in I had a fro. They're like, they're like, who is the little dude from the fro? They used to call me.

01:35:55
Speaker 14: The little boy from across the street. It was like, who is this dude? They was like, nobody's heard of you. Like when I came in, there was like, bro, we know no, none of us know you are. But like I just consistently kept making plays like consistently. Like then we had a camp practice. I'm with the tools, so I'm going against the ones. So like I'm like, damn, like we scrimmaging, I'm going against the ones. I'm the only person to score at the running backs the whole day. So they was like, whoever this little dude is, we might like he might be nice. And then it got to the point where other players, the veteran players like Ruben Foster dron Pain started coming up to me. Was like, bro, like you you're gonna be good, Like you're gonna be special, like and then when I start having all the vets, like I feel like believe in me, that's when I was like, Okay, I could do this shit for real.

01:36:43
Speaker 2: Foster would even menace monster on the field.

01:36:48
Speaker 1: That whole entire roster was just insane.

01:36:51
Speaker 14: But the whole defense my freshman year got drafted or played in the league at some point, Like you gotta think Marlin Eddie Jackson, Rubens MS, you got dron Payin, you got you got all of these, like bro we was. It was a deep like Marlon Humphrey leave all Wallace on the other side. I'm like, yeah, that that's what really I feel like prepared me because going against them type of that type of caliber, like either you're gonna figure it out or you're gonna be like this is not for me.

01:37:19
Speaker 2: How much that like structure around, like Saban's culture help you in the NFL, because as you know, it's way different when you get to the NFL.

01:37:26
Speaker 14: Yeah, So I'm gonna tell you the main, main, main reason why I signed with Alabama. When I went to Missou and they found out that I was only gonna stay for a parcel or the time to take half of the time to go because it was the last recruiting weekend. Because I was so late, you know, to be able to go to go there, they made a whole power point of how Bama is this and how I wasn't gonna play there, like how my chances of playing there was a very slim And then when I went to Bama and I talked to Saban, we never even talked about football. He just talked to me and he was like, this is how I can help you become a better man. This is how I can grow your relationships and you know, grow you as a man. And that's what Like I was like, Okay, that sold me. Like that was enough for me because, like I said, at that time, I'm not really too much thinking about football because I'm like that's not really a real reality for me. So I'm like, I want to be good. I want to play, but like I want to go to school, like I want to bail me figure it out. So when he did that, I was like, yeah, like he gonna be the person that really teach me and like help me grow up and develop me and things like that.

01:38:32
Speaker 4: And that's why I end up choosing them.

01:38:34
Speaker 2: So Bama was telling you how you your chances were minimal or that.

01:38:37
Speaker 14: Was was it's all about football. It wasn't about football until they found out that I was going to take half of the other uh you know.

01:38:47
Speaker 4: Visit to see it about you. So then they like when they started talking about one thing about Bama that.

01:38:52
Speaker 2: I had, Okay, they showed a power point of you not playing your chances of playing at Alabama R exactly.

01:38:57
Speaker 4: And that's the thing. One thing I say.

01:38:59
Speaker 14: Once I got that Alabama recognition, every school that came to talk to me always brought them up. So I was like, y'all just making me want to be play there even more, Like y'all keep speaking on them. They must be the top dog, like you know what I'm saying, Like, I'm like, all right, Like so that's kind of how it played out.

01:39:15
Speaker 2: You kind of have to recruit like that. It's Alabama.

01:39:18
Speaker 1: Yeah, but also it's like, damn, Alabama's the most competitive cats. You want the cats that are like, yeah, I'm gonna beat anybody anytime like that. Almost a delusional mindset essentially, what you had right to make it in the NFL, to make it Alabama, you have to have a delusional mindset. So if you want those guys, why would you play in the Alabama's favorite that way?

01:39:33
Speaker 2: Yeah?

01:39:34
Speaker 1: Because your point just want you. Literally, if I'm Missouri, I'm just stroking you the whole.

01:39:39
Speaker 4: Time, literally and telling me what you can do for me.

01:39:41
Speaker 1: Right. We had all this, we had a great business school. But football is gonna work out for you. You're gonna play right away. We're gonna get you going.

01:39:47
Speaker 4: It was even talking about let me.

01:39:49
Speaker 5: Who it was for real.

01:39:51
Speaker 4: Yeah, I was like, I was.

01:39:53
Speaker 15: Like, all right, so it was Oklahoma ever in the mix field? No, No, like you don't like Ocaho. No, No, because it's.

01:40:04
Speaker 4: Like, bro, I used to have Mike Stoops.

01:40:06
Speaker 14: And them come to my games when I was in Little League, like when I was fifth sixth grade. I used to see them in the stands. You feel me, So, I'm like, it's not like y'all didn't know who I was. I've been like I've been that in football. You feel me. So, I'm like when they got to college, I'm like, I gotta I got a total university.

01:40:25
Speaker 4: It's fifteen minutes.

01:40:25
Speaker 1: From my house.

01:40:26
Speaker 4: Didn't even get an offer from them.

01:40:28
Speaker 14: You feel me so, Like when you came after these schools, I felt disrespected. Y'all closer to me, Yo, Oklahoma is an hour, hour and some change away. Oklahoma State is forty five minutes away.

01:40:38
Speaker 4: You've ben me. So I'm like, I don't got offers from y'all. Like, I'm like, nah, I'm not stall some type of way. Yeah, I felt some type of way.

01:40:44
Speaker 14: Sure, that's why when we played them, I was on the ass. But but funny story about that is when I went to the draft, Bob Stoops was the first one to come up to me when we was in the meeting room and he was just like, man, I love your game. Here he was when Lincoln Riley he was like, I love your game. He's like, man, he was like, you changed my whole perspective on looking that way. But I'm telling you after I got recruited, but I had coaches telling me, you know we are we're committed to never missing a dominant rough again.

01:41:17
Speaker 4: After I got community.

01:41:18
Speaker 14: Uh, after I committed and went to university, the next two to three classes, Bro, we had the more people going leaving out of Oklahoma than we ever had like the last decade.

01:41:28
Speaker 4: You feel me so like it played out and worked out I was supposed to.

01:41:32
Speaker 2: That was nice to hear.

01:41:33
Speaker 4: Yeah it was. I was like, I was like that I needed.

01:41:38
Speaker 2: What was it like going from a saving to coach Crwdon.

01:41:43
Speaker 4: Complete different, complete opposites. You know, you know Grew. I love Grew, love Grew.

01:41:49
Speaker 14: He is so like charismatic and so like like everything he does he just does it with energy. We be in the meetings and like he's one of them. Coaches where we and me and you can know somebody messed up and you'd be like, get on his ass. He messed up, and he like he gonna praise you when he gonna coach you. He not gonna really too much get on you like in that sense, you know. And that was the thing that I used to like as a young guy coming in. You know, you nervous, you around all these vets and things like that, and you like he gave me, you know what I'm saying, grace And I love playing for him, man Like he to me as a player's coach. He go out his way to you know, help guys all the time, whether it was on the field or off the field.

01:42:28
Speaker 4: And it was like it was it was fun for me. Man. I love grew to this day. I still love grow.

01:42:33
Speaker 2: You felt like it was the same for you, Like going from college to the NFL. Like I've told the story before, Rahie Morris, where I like miss a tackle and I came on the sideline thinking like Coach Polini Nebraska, like you're getting cussed out, Like you have this anxiety or fear in your mind to like not mess up on the field. Then when you did, you you heard about it. But in the NFL, I felt like it was you had like this grace to where they'd be like, hey, if you're gonna missmiss on the inside, shut and I'm thinking, oh fuck, I missed a tack on there, kind of patting me like, hey, next time happens, like just if you missmiss on this side.

01:43:02
Speaker 1: And we had completely different experiences. College was like once I got to my senior year, like the I could do no wrong, like if I messed up the coach, you know what you did right, And I was like, yeah, I did this wrong. I'm like, all right, you can fix that. When I got to the NFL, I was Ken wizen Hunt's first draft pick, so I was like his little like his little darling.

01:43:19
Speaker 4: His little baby.

01:43:21
Speaker 1: He would baby me a bunch. But Bob Bosta at the offensive line coach, any misstep, footwork anything, he was on my ass like like freshman in college.

01:43:28
Speaker 4: See that's how my physician coach. Really But we was cool though.

01:43:32
Speaker 14: But that's the thing, like I feel like it's different when you respect somebody and you feel like they come into you at like you know, at a place of respect. But he was only like that, like footwork because I'm like, even in college, obviously you learned, you know, schemes and things like that, but like I'm like, what do you mean you want me to do this footwork? I'm like, I'm used to this footwork. Like I feel like I'm out of place doing the style that you want. And like that was something that I had to That was probably the biggest learning curve that I had to do, was just like get comfortable in the system that they wanted me to play, you know. But that was even like I remember one time I was I was going into it with him with Kirby, and he was like, man, I've coached this guy, this guy, and this guy he got the calling people like work done and all that. I'm like, okay, I'm like, here's some mythic, it's some method. And then literally, when I felt like I trusted and believed in what he was telling me, like I just started taking off.

01:44:28
Speaker 1: Man, this is crazy off. Much like respect, how far respect goes with coaches, because there is always I have like an issue with authority where it's like if coaches comes at me right away, I tend to step back a little bit. But once the respect is there, it's like, I'll basically die for you whatever you need me to do. I'm literally for you. When you walk into Oakland, I mean obviously the facilities are way different. They're about to move to Vegas. There was a Bama. We've been to Bama. It was like walking into a locker room with guys like Richie Incognito, Max Crosby, Antonio Brown, and like Derek Carr, who's like this like perfect little choir boy. Like was that just a massive culture shark for you? And You're think to yourself, the taxes calfln your ass. I just want to bring that up too.

01:45:08
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I defer my I defer my signing motives. So we got the Vegas but.

01:45:14
Speaker 14: Yeah, real, but nah man, they when I came in, it was weird because like we had older Vets, but we had Vets that was like older that wasn't like they're literally at the back end or their career. So it was like they was good but not not really so like and then I feel like for me, people was on me harder because I was the first round pick. So like some people were like, you know you, like you're gonna have to prove yourself, like I'm like, all right, whatever, like you know what I'm saying, like all over again. Max looked like, what's the dude off of Harry Potter? Like now boy at the time, you know, hey, that's my dog.

01:45:59
Speaker 4: I let you Max hang No, but men, So, like I would say, the best thing for me was all rookie class.

01:46:05
Speaker 14: Everybody came in Max. You know some of these other guys that's not that's not on the tea or not in the league.

01:46:10
Speaker 1: No more.

01:46:11
Speaker 14: We was all tight, you know, Keishan Nixon. We was all tight and so like we used to always do stuff together.

01:46:17
Speaker 4: And I feel like that made.

01:46:18
Speaker 14: It a lot easier my rookie year to like get acclimated with everything because you know, in the pros, people don't understand, like they think everybody's just friends, and like in the pros, it's just like this is not true.

01:46:29
Speaker 1: Like I said, that was the craziest difference for me.

01:46:31
Speaker 14: Yeah, like college, you know, everybody's friends, Like we all friends in college, Like in pros, it's not like for some people, this is literally a job. And for a lot of people they have families, so like, you know, you leaving here them like man, I gotta go home.

01:46:42
Speaker 4: And rate to be a dad, Like I can't go home and play video games with you, like you know what I'm saying, like things like that.

01:46:49
Speaker 14: So that was like a big, big difference for me too. But man, that locker room then was definitely different. I remember my first like all all moment was I remember we lost the game and I was in the locker mad because like you know, a ba at Bama probably lost three maybe four games in three years I was there.

01:47:10
Speaker 4: So I'm like, I'm used to winning.

01:47:13
Speaker 14: So I'm in the locker room mad, and I remember the Evans came up to me like they laughing and shit, and I'm like, the fuck they'll laughing.

01:47:18
Speaker 4: For us, So I take it. I get mad, you know what I'm saying, Like what I got going on.

01:47:22
Speaker 14: They're like, man, you're gonna learn like in this league, you're gonna lose like you not. You gotta get used to all these other kind of stuff. But I was like that like mentality. I remember, I was like, we're not gonna ever win like that. If people don't take this a little more personal. It's one thing to not obviously be crying after the game, but like don't be sitting acting like around like you like you happy that you know what I'm saying that we lost, like that was always a thing. But I was always one of them guys too that I felt like, I mean, you played with me I always every day, I'm trying to bust my ass every day. I'm trying to I be the if not the hardest worker, top three, you know, and I'm trying to like figure it out every day. So like when somebody did stuff like that, it just it wasn't respect it for me.

01:48:06
Speaker 2: And that's he's not lying. Josh would be visually pissed off after games. I remember the second stint we came and you know, the boys wanted to go on the logo with the Chiefs and we got our ass whooped. Come on and Josh is in the locker room after the game, fu me about like, you know, whether guys are happy about it? But he was, Yeah, he legitimately gets pissed off anytime. Anytime that we lost, he'd be asking guys. He'd be talking to guys like he pulled meself, like hey, you just got her, Like what are you seeing right now? You'll be asking guys that He'd be like pulling everybody see the.

01:48:39
Speaker 14: Problem with me. Well, let's first let me get to logo question. I told him to not do that. Shit is dumb. We are their step brothers, We're the little We're the little brother at that point. We ain't beat them enough to deserve that right.

01:48:50
Speaker 4: We ain't.

01:48:50
Speaker 14: We're not even winning enough to deserve that right to go do that. You know what I'm saying, Like it was dumb. I always I remember what I said exactly because I didn't go do it. I was the old I'll stayed. I'm like, they're not gonna catch me on that motheruing logo and.

01:49:02
Speaker 4: Then we lose, and this everywhere we lose, it was will Is in the middle. Yeah I was in the middle.

01:49:08
Speaker 2: I wasn't.

01:49:09
Speaker 1: But who was Amber?

01:49:10
Speaker 4: I told everybody it was Yanick. He didn't want to.

01:49:14
Speaker 1: Start has that mentality and a working.

01:49:19
Speaker 4: Started.

01:49:20
Speaker 9: He did.

01:49:21
Speaker 4: He getting everybody, and I'm thinking everybody should do it. But I told him.

01:49:24
Speaker 14: I was like my Zach words was if y'all gonna do better, stand on that ship. I'm like, we better win literally because you can't do it like that.

01:49:31
Speaker 4: And I scored that.

01:49:32
Speaker 2: Game and we got we got blue out.

01:49:34
Speaker 4: We got blue out. I said, well, never I brought. I was hot in the locker room. I was hot. But no, they go back to his points when I first came back, and I'm thinking, ship, oh, we're not good. Uniforms are good, We're not uniforms sick.

01:49:48
Speaker 1: You best uniforms the sick awesome. But hey, Yannick and Doc Way, I have no idea why that dude has not like stuck with the team for a long time because his rookie year I played him. The first time we played him was Thursday night in Nissan and his attitude of mentality, like he was talking to me like he was in the league for ten years.

01:50:06
Speaker 4: He got he's got, Yeah, he's got.

01:50:07
Speaker 1: And then Patrick Omama, who will played with the Michigan he was playing for Jacksonville, came off. He's like that kid works, he's gonna be good, and he obviously was. He's a good football player. But he's just jumped around so much.

01:50:17
Speaker 14: You know, sometimes I think people can get in their own way. There's no doubta, you know, and that'd be a lot of things. And like sometimes you don't feel like like you know with me, like towards the end, like you say, I used.

01:50:29
Speaker 4: To ask him I'm like, we came in. I'm like, what do you see?

01:50:33
Speaker 14: Because I was fully committed to trying to make the team better, you know what I'm saying. I'm like, and I'm trying everything from talking to people I wouldn't even talk to, you know what I'm saying, From coaching more than I've ever coached, to like being a leader and things like that, like trying to lead by example all of these things. And I'm like, bro, it ain't nothing. It don't feel like nothing is changing, you know what I'm saying. So I'm like I used to ask Hi when we got a guy in. I'm like, but what do you see? You've been on winning programs, You've been in you know what I'm saying, You've been on good teams. Like what's the difference? And like you say, I used to pat that game. I was so mad after that game. But I feel like I feel like I cussed out some people like bro, like, but I was always the guy that like, I don't mind making people uncomfortable because I feel like, one, if I'm doing if I'm doing everything right, I got that right.

01:51:21
Speaker 5: One.

01:51:22
Speaker 14: Two you should know that I care about you and love you enough and respect you enough to know that I'm not attacking you. I'm coming at you from a good place. And it's also a time and place for everything. Don't get me wrong, But like wanting to win and wanting to fix that organization, I was all in. So when I started to feel like the organization wasn't all in on the same things that I wanted to that's when I know I have to leave.

01:51:47
Speaker 2: How hard was it to leave the Raiders?

01:51:49
Speaker 4: Why I never wanted to bro Bro?

01:51:52
Speaker 14: I spent a lot of money on a house I built, custom fully, custom built.

01:51:58
Speaker 4: And never stayed in. Like, so you gotta you gotta know I was investing.

01:52:02
Speaker 14: I was investing there. I was doing franchises. Like you know what I'm saying, I'm in the community, I'm doing work in the community, everything, Like I'm thinking, like, okay, like this is where I'm gonna be, Like I'm playing in everything there, you know what I'm saying. But like it gets to a certain point where you're not gonna keep disrespecting me. You only got so many times to be like fuck you before I'm like fuck you too. You feel me like literally like and that's how I felt about it, Cause it's like, Okay, don't get me wrong, I have a great relationship with Mark Davis. I love Mark Davis. Has nothing to do with Mark Davis. But like you bringing in these coaches every other year, new coaches, and it's like, now these new coaches is telling me I didn't already have three a thousand yard seasons. You telling me I gotta prove myself. Like, oh, like I'm a rookie. You treating me like a rookie.

01:52:48
Speaker 4: You're telling now I got to play in the Hall of Fame game.

01:52:51
Speaker 14: And then we start losing, and then you feel like you need me, and then you play me. I'll play good, but then afterwards you basically like, yeah, you played good, but you're gonna we'rerunna fresh time A tag him you we're going to play. And I looked at him and I'm like, I'm not gonna play. And where he was going wrong was where he was going wrong was he was talking too much. And I'm not gonna say who it was, but it's a guy to make decisions. And I'm like, he's talking too much and thinking it's not gonna get back to me, and everything is getting back to me, you know what. I'm saying, so I'm knowing what's being said on the inside for real, you feel me?

01:53:29
Speaker 4: So like he's basically like, oh yeah, he needs.

01:53:32
Speaker 14: The money's I'm like, I don't need no money, Like I could quit playing right now. I'm great, Like you feel me. So I'm like, where are you getting this information from? Like why do you think that you got the leverage when I just let the NFL and everything there is for a running back. I'm like, so you're telling me, Okay, I'm only gonna be twenty five at the time.

01:53:52
Speaker 4: You're telling me like, I can't get paid, so.

01:53:54
Speaker 14: You already deny my fifth your option, which was the smartest move you should have made was to accept that you feel me.

01:54:00
Speaker 4: But you don't do that, and then you're like, oh, we're.

01:54:04
Speaker 14: Gonna franchise tag you, and the franchise tag is two million more, so you're gonna play on.

01:54:08
Speaker 4: The franchise SAG.

01:54:09
Speaker 14: But whole time, Bro and my mom, me and my agent, we like, by not playing, I'm gonna come week eight, week eight so I can get credit this season and basically force my way out.

01:54:21
Speaker 4: That's what that was my That was my planning. If they don't want to pay me.

01:54:24
Speaker 2: Was the first fracturing of the relationship was when they didn't pick up the fifth year option.

01:54:28
Speaker 14: I didn't really care about the fifth year option. So a lot of people think that that was the problem. I didn't want them to take the fifth years because I knew I was gonna get.

01:54:35
Speaker 4: Paid more than that. I wanted them to pay.

01:54:37
Speaker 14: Yeah, I'm like, it's benefited me by not picking up the fifth year option.

01:54:41
Speaker 4: Like I'm all for that, you know what I'm saying.

01:54:43
Speaker 14: Like, I'm like, cool, Like I'm good with that, but like it was just the fact that I was legitimately sixty five percent of the offense that year and you're telling me that you will not pay the guy that did everything for the team.

01:54:58
Speaker 4: I'm like, how did that make sense? You know what I'm saying.

01:55:01
Speaker 14: It's like, basically, you already tried me at the beginning, so you're already trying to be cool with me, but I'm already really don't.

01:55:06
Speaker 4: Like you, you know what I'm saying.

01:55:08
Speaker 14: But like it's a business, You're not gonna like everybody you feel me like, and so I'm already like, you know what I'm saying, I'm gonna respect you. I'm not gonna disrespect you and stuff like that, but like I'm gonna be like, yeah, if I got a option, I'm not gonna fuck with you.

01:55:20
Speaker 4: Like you know what I'm saying. So that's basically what it came down to.

01:55:24
Speaker 14: And when it started to get like I say, into the conversation, what made it worse?

01:55:29
Speaker 4: Bro?

01:55:30
Speaker 14: When it comes to the Raiders Bro, And it really hurt my heart because I try to stay. I did everything in my power to stay. My agent was even getting he was getting mad at me because he like, Bro, at what point are you gonna be like fuck these dudes? Because I'm like, look, I got six teams talking to me about more more money than you.

01:55:49
Speaker 4: I'm like, can you match that? They say no.

01:55:51
Speaker 14: I said, okay, that's fine. I'm like, can we meet in the middle. Can we get the median of that?

01:55:55
Speaker 4: They say no. I say okay, because that was offering me ten years. I'm like, okay, ten a year.

01:56:00
Speaker 14: I'm like, cool, Can I get some The Raiders were off the Raiders was I was like, can I get some incentives? I'm like, maybe I hit them, maybe I don't. They said no. Once they said that, I said, we ain't got none to talk about y'all, let me know where I staying. And the crazy thing about it was when I had a meeting with Mark Davis. I said before when I was playing on sitting out because I missed all the camp that last year I was there.

01:56:21
Speaker 4: I missed all the camp.

01:56:22
Speaker 1: When did your last year there?

01:56:25
Speaker 4: What the year before this?

01:56:26
Speaker 14: So what is that twenty twenty three, twenty three, twenty three?

01:56:29
Speaker 4: The fifth right, yeah, the fifth year.

01:56:31
Speaker 14: I missed all the camp because I'm like I said on Mark, and I'm like, look, I'm not asking you to pay me my work because you can't, like and I know that's realistic, but like, just don't disrespect me. That's literally all I asked. I'm like, bro, just don't disrespect me. I was like, give me a deal. And then the crazy part about it is none of the deals was even long term deals.

01:56:50
Speaker 4: Like I'm like, yeah, bro, we ain't got nothing to talk about.

01:56:53
Speaker 14: Like I got all these other teams, all these other like you know, having disrespect and I'm keep trying to come back to y'all and show y'all love and show y'all respect, and it ain't reciprocated. So I'm like, we don't really have too much to talk about it. And then what's crazy is I fucking pull up?

01:57:09
Speaker 4: This is crazy?

01:57:10
Speaker 1: So this is this is two week one bro.

01:57:13
Speaker 14: Before I came, when they were trying to get me to come sign, you know, you got to you got the deadline, right to sign the deadline. And before I came to sign, Max, Me and Max on the phone. He's Max trying to make it work, you know, like obviously Max is a dude. He like, man, like I don't understand it, like whatever. He was like, man, please just come. So we come up there and we got like an hour left before we got to sign the paper or uh, you know, on a deal or not. And dude comes up to my car. Me and Max is in the car. Max in the car with me. We sitting and he's talking to us, but while on his phone. He don't but he's moving his phone around. He's on the phone with an interviewer with a reporter, literally on the phone with a reporter while he's talking to.

01:58:03
Speaker 2: Me, trying to trying to get conversation out of you.

01:58:07
Speaker 14: About so anytime that I know it's one report over there that anytime he had anything to say, and they'd be like where are people getting this information from. I'm like, it's coming from them. It's literally coming from them, swear. So I was like, it was like it was just a weird situation. Bro, I'm telling you, it was the weirdest situation ever. And it has nothing to do with the greatest organization. It's more so the people that they had in r at the time.

01:58:31
Speaker 2: It's like there's like a saying right, like it's like the good news, like the stuff like say you're in the community, Like the good news always come from like the local news, but all the bad news, the national news comes from internal like comes from the team.

01:58:45
Speaker 4: Yes, I'm telling you. And when I seen that, and you know what made it worse. I seen it. I didn't say nothing. Max was like, bro, did you see who was on the phone with I said, okay, so I'm not tripping. I was like, I thought, you're not even you know how sometimes you'd be like and like I might be yeah, I'm like I'm doing too much.

01:59:03
Speaker 14: But like when Max brought it up, I was like, okay, I know I'm bugging. I'm like yeah, But that's when I knew, like it was over with, you know, Like even though I was going there, Like coming back that year to play.

01:59:16
Speaker 4: I was like, I knew it was over with. I knew that the relationship was over with.

01:59:20
Speaker 2: Knowing where you're at now when you look back at it, what learns do you have from like that process, Because I feel like a lot of guys too, When you get into free agency or you taste the teeth of the business for the first time, it kind of catches you off guard because you're thinking, you know, like college, like loyalty, you perform, well, they're gonna pay you, or they're going to take care of you. Playing hurd, it's honorable, that'll get you pay. You think all these different things, and then you come to find out looking back, you're like, all right, I see why this went the way that it did.

01:59:47
Speaker 14: Bro I tell people all the time to play hurt, you gotta be one mentally, you gotta be different. But like once I got to the point where I'm like, damn, I've played hurt all the time. I have done played with a fractured shoulder, you know, the whole year from like over half of the year with this shoulder, and now it's time to get paid. Me doing that is really bad for me because now you like against me, it.

02:00:17
Speaker 1: Might not be as good, or they say, oh, you're hurt a little bit more.

02:00:19
Speaker 2: Brog will tell you something different. You're thinking that he don't get it.

02:00:29
Speaker 1: But then when the time, yeah.

02:00:32
Speaker 14: Man, And then you think that if you sow, if you do things right and you be loyal, that it's gonna come back. But it's a business. You got to understand the business. And that's my biggest thing. Like, looking back, the thing that I would change the most is I would probably have handled it a little differently.

02:00:46
Speaker 4: Uh, I feel like.

02:00:50
Speaker 14: I would have probably bro Honestly, I would have handled a little different because I really never spoke on it. I just like let them create the narrative the whole time and then let people assume what they wanted to assume was going on with me. For the longest, people was like, oh, it's about money. Oh it's about that. I'm like, it was never about that. Literally, is no point was it about that? I'm like, if that was the point, then I would took the first offer I had, which was a lot more than what they offered me.

02:01:13
Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying, Like, but that's just that's just the nature of the beast.

02:01:18
Speaker 1: Yeah, real, So you would have been more vocal publicly about what was going on.

02:01:22
Speaker 4: I think I would have been more direct for sure.

02:01:24
Speaker 1: At any point was your agent sitting there being like, hey, we have to write some sort of narrative as well. You send them playing chess out here.

02:01:29
Speaker 4: He was more so like if this motherfucker.

02:01:34
Speaker 1: He just right here, so funny, he.

02:01:37
Speaker 4: Was like, if this motherfucker do this, Like we're going to do this.

02:01:40
Speaker 14: We had a game plan for everything, you know, even like stats, we started posting stats. It's like it's hard to deny affects, like regardless of what you want to say, like.

02:01:49
Speaker 2: Oh absolutely, and like you know, when they didn't claim your fifth yr option, Like I remember just being on the bus and talking about how well you were performing when they didn't pick up your fifty years exactly. It's like you're doing a lot of different things that yeah, it is undeniable, like how greatable player you are.

02:02:02
Speaker 14: And then like like I was telling him, like, bro, from when I've gotten the league, I'm like, don't nobody have more resting yards than me since I've been in the league, like Derek Henry. Besides Derek Herry, like you see everybody else that's came in with my year or on, like I'm leading, So I'm like, I don't know what more you want me to do? Basically, it was my point with them, I'm like, bro, like I'm a leader in the locker room, I'm never late to stuff. I'm not I'm not in trouble or none of that stuff. Like what more do you want from me?

02:02:32
Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying. I'm like, I'm giving you everything I got and we still losing. Like you know what I'm saying, like, yeah.

02:02:39
Speaker 1: This is this is during the narrative in the NFL that the running back position is losing its value because nobody outplays their second contract. They only play their first contract. So was there a level of you taking that personal? Did you talk to like an acause.

02:02:51
Speaker 2: Around that same time and all that?

02:02:52
Speaker 1: But him Austin, there was a handful of other guys that were like these guys, obviously I have high productions. Yeah, but it was because at this point in time, there was only one guy in the NFL who got a second contract that outperformed his first contract, and that was Derek Henricky.

02:03:09
Speaker 4: Yep, because Todd Early and Zeke they was like, yeah.

02:03:12
Speaker 1: Ever going back when like went downhill. So, hey, I'm a premium was a bad business move at the time, which I'm sure was playing a huge factor with the higher ups of the Raiders.

02:03:22
Speaker 14: Yeah, and I get that, but it's like, Okay, if that's the case, I barely played in college, don't have them, don't have that trail, don't have that trade at all. You feel me so like, and then when I get into the league, it's like, Okay, you can say that, but I'm still the youngest guy doing it. I'm the youngest, Like I you know, I I just turned twenty seven.

02:03:42
Speaker 4: This is my seventh year. This is gonna be my seven year in the NFL.

02:03:45
Speaker 1: Did you imagine being your first year in the NFL and like can't buy a drink? Like literally literally, Hey, Josh, you want to know the club camp?

02:03:53
Speaker 4: Yeah, I couldn't even rent a car. I couldn't get a rental them. I swear I couldn't even I'm like, I want to rental the help.

02:04:03
Speaker 1: That is funny. Literally, Yeah, twenty seven years old, seven years in the league.

02:04:07
Speaker 2: Yep.

02:04:08
Speaker 1: And now it seems like you, along with Derek, along with Austin likes yes, thank you obviously, a huge piece, Like you guys have essentially changed the narrative in the NFL that the running back position needs to be more value than it is now.

02:04:22
Speaker 14: But it's coming full circle, Like it's literally coming full circle, you see, and guys start to get paid. Like I'll keep telling everybody Jamier and Bison, like whatever they get is, like, how you gonna know what the market really is because those are guys, you know what I'm saying. And the thing is what I was trying to tell the Raiders is.

02:04:40
Speaker 4: It's not too many guys. It's only about really like six guys, six to eight guys like that. You really, I would say, you can't really replace what they do. And I felt like I was one of those guys.

02:04:53
Speaker 14: You feel me some I'm like, you can't put me in a category where the running back that has never had a thousand yards in the season, you can't put me in.

02:05:00
Speaker 4: These other categories.

02:05:01
Speaker 14: You're trying to put me in with guys that's never finished the whole season, you know what I'm saying, Like things like that, I'm like, we gotta be talking at a whole different playing field. Yeah, And uh, that was one thing that we were trying to push. That was like a narrative that we were trying to push, but it played out I was supposed.

02:05:15
Speaker 1: To well you guys ever, and there was like rumors going around about the running backs start in the room kind of like yeah, Pa, is that ever a real thing?

02:05:22
Speaker 14: Yeah we are, Yeah, we all did. But the problem is BRO is just the simple truth BO Like a lot of guys is selfish and like and that's really what we got on that call.

02:05:36
Speaker 4: And it was a lot of guys on the call.

02:05:38
Speaker 14: It was a lot of guys that didn't get on the call, and it felt like it was only two or three of us talking the whole time.

02:05:44
Speaker 4: Everybody else really had nothing to you know.

02:05:46
Speaker 1: The vocal guys in that conversation.

02:05:47
Speaker 14: Yeah, because I was being honest about what I was being told. You know what I'm saying, like because I'm one thing about me, man, I don't I want it's enough money out here for everybody, and I want to see everybody win. So like for me, I'm like I'm telling him, like, look, this is what they're saying for me, this is what they're saying. Like me and Sa Kwan seeing it taxt back and forth with what you're hearing from hey or what you're hearing from heryor like you know what I'm saying, like and we basically like, look, this is this is the market.

02:06:11
Speaker 4: And I'm like, man, look I'm up here with this dude.

02:06:14
Speaker 14: You're gonna have to pay me up here with this dude, regardless of what any kind of contract looked like, you know what I'm saying. So that was something that like me and him talked a lot about, but the guys did, but.

02:06:25
Speaker 4: Nobody stuck to it. Like I remember.

02:06:29
Speaker 14: Austin Eckler was talking, uh, Joe Mixon was talking and they was. We was like, guys, like, okay, are we all not gonna show up to camp? Like is that something that we all agreed on a lot of people talked about it or are we not signing? Everybody was like, we're not gonna sign. Dude signed three days later. I'm like, bro, I promise bo, and it was I'm not gonna I'm not gonna out nobody, but like it was a dude that was talking and literally something next week I'm like, so I already knew, like I said, like I knew it was gonna break down because without unity, you ain't gonna have nothing.

02:07:05
Speaker 4: We ain't got no leverage, you know what I'm saying.

02:07:07
Speaker 2: So I was like, you even at the macro level with the NFLPA, it's like when you're trying to get things shifted in the CBA and being at the meetings and everything else, like you see where it's still like divided.

02:07:19
Speaker 4: Nothing would ever get changed in the NFL because the people for our like top guys to our lower guys, it's so such a big margin, yeah, that nothing would ever change. Because if I'm a guy that's making five hundred thousand a year and I'm like scraping to get that, it's like you you can't tell me a guy that's making.

02:07:40
Speaker 14: Ten twenty twenty million a year to be like, yeah, bro, we don't need to play football this year. He's gonna be like I need to play football this ye, you know what I'm saying.

02:07:48
Speaker 2: So, like exactly, they.

02:07:49
Speaker 14: Understand that they got that leverage, you know what I'm saying, Like, yeah, and that's it's only what maybe two or three percent of the gods is making over you know, twelve million a year in the NFL and everybody else's you know what I'm saying.

02:08:02
Speaker 4: So it's like, you're not going to ever win that.

02:08:04
Speaker 2: Yeah, signing bonuses Like I want to say, when the CBA stuff has happened and there's like one hundred thousand dollars signing like little bonuses or something that it's just you're right. It's like the guys that need it that year, it's like, hey, I get that you might be straight for the next several years, but my ass like, I need this.

02:08:23
Speaker 1: Technique. You just put a dang a little bit in front, and then the majority of guys are gonna move because you're right two three percent. I feel like the closest a moment that was almost changing it was Kirk Cousins when he got the fully guaranteed contract. I think that's what we put a lot of guys that pause, and everyone's like, Okay, if this needs to happen, then quarterbacks need to start this, start doing this, And it felt like it was about to happen, But then I think you're right. Greed gets in the way. Truly, for the NFL to change the way the way they go about paying everybody, it would take a full generation of NFL players to essentially bend the knee and say I'm going to make less money so the future can have more.

02:08:59
Speaker 2: We needed you to do it. I wouldn't.

02:09:03
Speaker 1: Because you're you're talking about you're talking about like selfish guys. I'm thinking to myself, like like in twenty eighteen, I'm like, I have the opportunity to be the highest paid guy. I guarantee was, you know, sixty seventy percent of my contract. I was like, and I think you even brought up to me like You're like, hey, if you hold out for this, But I'm thinking myself, fuck that that sounds awesome. Somebody else will be that hero.

02:09:26
Speaker 2: Yeah.

02:09:26
Speaker 1: Now I'm sitting in a garage so.

02:09:30
Speaker 6: More.

02:09:31
Speaker 14: I feel like if a lot more quarterbacks actually got on that train to be like, yeah, we're not playing the NFL teams a lot faster too.

02:09:40
Speaker 4: Yeah.

02:09:40
Speaker 1: But it's interesting because like like Kirk Cousins does his thing and he gets whatever one hundred and eighty or whatever.

02:09:44
Speaker 2: Whenever he wants to get to Minnesota.

02:09:46
Speaker 1: Whenever he went to Minnesota, and then like you see like Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes always guys their contracts. I mean, Patrick Mahomes is what half a billion dollars?

02:09:55
Speaker 2: Yeah?

02:09:55
Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, the numbers are so astronomical. It's like, how do you say, and like, what's guaranteed to fifty?

02:10:01
Speaker 4: Like fifty the contract. Who's the last person to give fully guarantee?

02:10:07
Speaker 1: No, Deshaun. I think DeShawn had like eighty eight.

02:10:09
Speaker 2: No, DeShawn got full guaranteed when he went to the Yes, bro.

02:10:14
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean the Browns fucked that up.

02:10:16
Speaker 2: Yeah.

02:10:17
Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel bad saying that to Shawn, but like.

02:10:20
Speaker 2: Because it's like you you know, you got that, you got the top guys who will get the full guaranteed. You also need that level of play to be there to to also solidify guys getting there.

02:10:29
Speaker 1: Because that's an example where it's like he gets to fully guaranteed and then he doesn't.

02:10:32
Speaker 2: Obviously have to, right, So we wanted to have that. Yeah, like this is exactly.

02:10:35
Speaker 1: Why we don't do this. Yeah, yeah, because it's yeah, it sucks, man, it's it sucks obviously, Like a lot of people watching the shore like, yeah, I wish you get five thousand dollars a year, yeah or whatever, there's nine to fifty whatever that whatever the minimum is for a vet guy. But yeah, massive changes have to happen, but massive sacrifice has to happen, but change to happen.

02:10:54
Speaker 2: Sure, was you going to making the transition to Green Bay? Was it excitement out of the gate? Were you kind of like is the grass gonna be greener because you had a place for five years?

02:11:05
Speaker 1: I was.

02:11:07
Speaker 14: It was like bittersweet, like obviously because I didn't want to leave. But when I looked at the team, I'm like, shit, they winning, you know, winning Trump everything, bro, Like you know what I'm saying. Like, so I was like yeah. And then obviously Pisachia was over here, probably one of my favorite coaches at all time.

02:11:26
Speaker 2: That's somebody who can coach coaches ask of coach you hard, motherfuck you literally and then has just these words and builds this relationship on the side to any time he's doing it, you don't feel any type of way about.

02:11:37
Speaker 4: It because he was just a real as a coach. He's the only coach I've ever had that to be like, look see, look you fucking around And that's why they upstairs talking about how to get ridio ass right now, like either you figure it out or you ain't gonna be here, And like he was the only one that'll be real and be honest and that's all people be asking for. It's like, don't tell me one thing and then do another thing, right, Like, just tell me the truth, whether it's ugly or whatever, just tell me the truth.

02:12:02
Speaker 14: And he's always been that type of coach. So like it's just a different respect. So when I knew that, I'm like, okay, and then I came I'm like, damn, it's quiet. I'm like, I don't here ship the food spots closed at the eight o'clock. I'm like, damn, this shit is different, but like it almost forces you to lock in. It's like so much like college that I've ever been around in the pro, in a pro stage where it's like football and nothing else.

02:12:34
Speaker 2: Like you know what I'm saying right here, Like we was just on Uber eze. I think we got we just the only spot really we could get was Buffalo Yeah, but also Buffalbins does.

02:12:43
Speaker 4: Out here might be the best Buffalowys.

02:12:46
Speaker 1: Read I mean that should take massive prits, a five star restaurant out here.

02:12:50
Speaker 2: Respect.

02:12:50
Speaker 1: But the Midwest is just it's just crazy, like Vegas. The way Vegas is literally our Uber from the airport to this Airbnb. This lady had the most midwayt stern accent. Ever, she didn't stop talking the entire time. Shout Jolane. She was awesome, Like she just talked my ear off about literally everything. It'd be quiet for like ten seconds. Will and JP didn't help me at all the whole time on toking my ear off the whole time, just talking about whatever came to her mind. It's like, Yo, this is true Midwest. It's so crazy how different it is.

02:13:23
Speaker 14: Across the street. Dude taught me for like two hours. Bro like bro, like he got a big ass statue. What is statue in his backyard of like Vance Lombardi?

02:13:35
Speaker 2: Like out Hey, So for everybody everybody watching right now with the airbnb we are in that we were running out for the NFL Draft weekend. Was the airbnb the house that Josh lived in for like two months when he first got here, which is He's like, you talked to you talked to the crazy dude across the street.

02:13:52
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so this this is a nice airbnb. Shout out this Airbnb. However, you talked about building a custom home in Vegas, you never got to step foot in. Did you end up selling it.

02:14:01
Speaker 4: In the process?

02:14:02
Speaker 1: Right now, in the process of selling it right now, have you ever gone just like stayed the night felt about it.

02:14:07
Speaker 14: I've only walked I've only walked in it one time, and it wasn't fully done.

02:14:12
Speaker 4: Really, it wasn't fully done.

02:14:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, the gut man walking in and like walking through a place of this is It's not a custom home. It's not something you put your heart in love.

02:14:22
Speaker 14: Come on, man, when I say it was one of the most stressful, stressful times I ever went because I didn't know how much really went into the house. You know what I'm saying, from every like backsplash to like every little detail that I could that you could put into house.

02:14:36
Speaker 4: It was crazy.

02:14:37
Speaker 14: They need that, it needs your opinion. I'm like, bro, it's three fireplaces in the house, like pick something. They like you got to pick something in there, like, but that was the whole thing. And then I had like so I was in Southern Highlands, so like it's actually down the street from Derek Carr and Gruden's house in Vegas, and I was like, I had like the biggest lot in the community. So I'm like I'm doing you know, I'm sooping the house up. But I'm not too much.

02:15:04
Speaker 4: Mad about it. Man, I'm I'm doing to make almost double what I spent, so I'm not too mad. I'm not too mad about it.

02:15:13
Speaker 1: Yeah God.

02:15:14
Speaker 4: And then here, you know, here is way way cheaper.

02:15:18
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, way farther.

02:15:22
Speaker 4: I got an eight bedroom crib. Now don't even need them all brou I'm like, this is crazy, like this much house like for nothing. Like I'm like, okay, you.

02:15:34
Speaker 2: Know, he sits in the house. Sometimes they're like, why did I get this house? I literally spend all my time in these two rooms all the time.

02:15:40
Speaker 4: Now you know why, because when you have family come, you don't have to hear them.

02:15:44
Speaker 2: Yeah right there.

02:15:47
Speaker 1: It is nice to have that space.

02:15:50
Speaker 14: My room got to be on the opposite side of everywhere everybody else's room.

02:15:54
Speaker 4: Yeah, y'all, y'all gonna have fun.

02:15:57
Speaker 1: What is it like when your family comes to town during game week? Like they get in like Thursday. How much time are you like really spending because you should be a cat that's like during the season.

02:16:05
Speaker 4: Yeah, talk to you, not too much. I ain't. We don't spend too much.

02:16:08
Speaker 14: But the thing is, you know, Fridays be early, so like Fridays, I get enough time. Saturdays be kind of iffy because you know, you got the morning meetings in the night meetings. But Fridays be kind of like the day. We kind of like just kick it. But Sundays too because one of a good thing also about playing out here is all our games, most of our games be in the morning, so we get that whole day.

02:16:31
Speaker 4: You know, we be done by three o'clock. Yeah, you be done by three o'clock.

02:16:34
Speaker 1: It's so much fun to play the Sunday night games. But there's nothing more convenient than a noon game Titans.

02:16:40
Speaker 6: We do it.

02:16:40
Speaker 2: Bro We play going to the Titans and being home at like four o'clock. Because Washington, we didn't have to commute an hour each time. So you don't get if you play the one o'clock game, you're not getting back to the house of like seven thirty eight o'clock. When I came to Tennessee, and it's like all the games are at noon except for maybe you know one or.

02:16:58
Speaker 1: Two Thursday Night Jacksonville, Thursday Night week fifteen. Every time. Yeah, it is, it's the it's the best. It is, especially unless you don't play well, then it's like you kill me.

02:17:08
Speaker 14: Yeah, and then like at my house too, we always have all the holidays, so like all my siblings will come up, niece's nephews come up, Like, we had a big holidays at the house.

02:17:19
Speaker 4: So it's been fun.

02:17:20
Speaker 14: Man, we creating them, you know, the memories and the new generation you know coming up for us.

02:17:26
Speaker 4: Get to experience that, and I think that's very important. Bro.

02:17:29
Speaker 1: Just wait until you're done, Like, don't ever wish it away. But when you're finished, that first holiday season, really that first August, Yeah, you'll wake up and it'll be your We'll go out and be like, man, it's hot as hell out here, and then you'll think to yourself, oh my god, I.

02:17:41
Speaker 4: Used to be I used to do that.

02:17:45
Speaker 1: And then Halloween will come up and you'll be so dialed into Halloween and Thanksgiving. You're being so fired up Christmas. It's like you might as well be Santa Claus. Yeah, you're like, it's crazy the perspective that changed.

02:17:55
Speaker 2: Oh, I gotta get a work out of it. And wait a minute, I.

02:18:00
Speaker 1: Mean I should. I guess I will, But it's just it's crazy when there's not like that. You're chasing that one percent every single year.

02:18:06
Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, how's your how's your dad? He's got to be super proud of everything that you've accomplished.

02:18:12
Speaker 4: Yeah, man, he's doing good man.

02:18:14
Speaker 14: I mean I tell people all the time, he's moving around, he's coaching, he's back coaching, uh, things like that. Like he's been doing good man. That's all the way I can explain is if it's quiet, it's good.

02:18:23
Speaker 2: Yeah.

02:18:24
Speaker 4: And it's been it's been real quiet lately. So it's been smooth.

02:18:28
Speaker 2: That's good man. I love like when he has his interviews for when you were talking about the times that you guys were homeless, you just see him get emotional.

02:18:35
Speaker 4: It's yeah.

02:18:36
Speaker 2: I tell him, it's got to be wild seeing where you how far you've come since those times.

02:18:41
Speaker 1: The level of sacrifice so much that man to get you where you are today is unbelievable.

02:18:45
Speaker 14: Yeah, man, And I would say that's probably just the biggest thing I really take away from it because like even now, like me being a dad, I'm like, could I've done it?

02:18:54
Speaker 4: I don't know, you.

02:18:55
Speaker 14: Know, like just being real, you know, like the things that he'd done, Like like literally I've watched him not eat.

02:19:02
Speaker 2: I'm like, damn, he.

02:19:03
Speaker 14: Gave us the food, you know, like he giving us his full We spliting, you know, three pieces of chicken between five kids and some sides, you know, like and I'm like, man, I'm like, damn, is you gonna eat? Like I remember, I'm telling you, like we was just sleeping them cars. Everything used to be in the back and it was suburban, so you know, it's like three roles in the suburban. And I remember I used to wake up and he just he got his gun sitting on his lap, and I'm like, you want to sleep, like what you like. But the thing that I would say that I did learn and notice at a young age is I understood a lot. Like I felt like it made me grow up very fast. Like I seen and experienced a lot at a young age. So like by the time I was in fifth grade, like I already knew how to cook, how to pay bills, get groceries, like all of that by myself.

02:19:52
Speaker 4: Like I used to have to go literally have to go do it. I used to hate that shit, you know what, but like literally, like my god, n it was just a difference. It was just different.

02:20:02
Speaker 14: So for me, football was always Football in school was the only time I felt like I was just like regularly.

02:20:09
Speaker 2: What was it like in your mind whenever the homies would be like, hey, Josh, let's go over to your spot.

02:20:14
Speaker 5: You want to know what's crazy, bro.

02:20:17
Speaker 14: I was just talking to my dad about this literally last week. I said, I think it's crazy how to all my friends. We probably have the least amount of all my friends, but all my friends always wanted to come to my art like wherever we was. But I think it's because the way that my dad treated people, in the way that he it was the feeling, like you know what I'm saying, Like I tell people all the time, people be like.

02:20:38
Speaker 4: Single pair of households. Like I tell people, I'm like, I.

02:20:40
Speaker 14: Know a kid right now where he has his mom and his dad at home, but his dad's alcoholic and he can't be at home, you know what I'm saying. So I never judged nobody because I obviously my situation, but like, you never know what people were going through. So when I feel like a lot of these kids they was going through things at home that when they came with us, we might not have the best of things, but it was always peace and it was always love. So like I think that was something that like I definitely carry.

02:21:07
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's awesome, man, that is cool. I've never met your dad, but obviously have a whole lot of respect for him. Sure, we're at the draft now, you get drafted in the first round. Where did you go to the draft?

02:21:19
Speaker 4: Yes, regretted it.

02:21:21
Speaker 1: What was that experience? What was that experience like for you?

02:21:24
Speaker 14: They don't tell you that the whole day leading up to the ship, you got interviews, you got media, then you got like an hour, like two hours to get ready and really like head over there and be the because you got to be there at a certain time. And then they don't tell you afterwards, like you leave the stage and literally go back to media they're doing interviews like So for me, I love the experience. I loved Nashville's it was fun. I turned up a little bit and a little bit of time that I had I had at six am flight that next morning. Uh so I turned up a little bit, But I felt like it was so much going on. I didn't really get to sit down and really just like process what happened. And if I was to do it differently, I would have just had a party at home with all my with all my family and all my friends and then figured it out. But it was definitely something that I'm you know, forever, you know, grateful for and a memory that is definitely gonna last all my life.

02:22:23
Speaker 1: What was it like sitting there and you're sitting at the table, you have like eight people with you, plus your agent, and you're just waiting for the phone to ring, and you see guys getting picked over and over. Yeah, were you ever like, man, what if I don't get picked? What if I have to be the guy to sit here? Would have to be that Geno stip Remember that Will Levis moment where it's like all the cameras around me.

02:22:41
Speaker 4: I was watching people do that.

02:22:43
Speaker 14: Yeah, you know I knew I was. I knew I was gonna either go to the Raiders or I was going to Philly. So I was like, I already know these are the two teams.

02:22:51
Speaker 1: Did How were you for sure about that?

02:22:52
Speaker 4: Just by talking to him?

02:22:54
Speaker 2: You know, he wasn't for sure.

02:22:55
Speaker 1: I know he could have just by I was when I when I was getting red the draft. Yeah, the Falcons came to my house, yeah, Monday before the draft on Thursday, and they took a private jet to Arizona and they're like, hey, if you're there at six Britt Eddy. Yeah, and I'm thinking to myself, I'll fucking be there at six, like I'm gonna be a dirty bird. Six came and went Jake Matthews took him, and I was I thought I was not gonna get drafted that day. Yeah, I thought I was essentially the Truman show and it's been a show. And I was just making fun of me.

02:23:23
Speaker 2: You got duped, that got duped.

02:23:25
Speaker 4: There's no way you really know, No, you don't really truly truly know. But I just know.

02:23:29
Speaker 14: When I had that meeting with the Raiders and I talked to you know, Kirby Wilson and Gruden, I'm like, one thing about Grooded, I don't think he got a real good poker face, like you kind of like you kind of.

02:23:40
Speaker 4: Know what he thinking and way you're feeling, you know what I'm saying.

02:23:42
Speaker 14: But like the way he just treated me, I'm like, okay, like there's a real possibility. But then when I seen the Eagles they moved up it was like the twentieth twentieth pig something like that, they moved up to twentieth twenty two or something like that.

02:23:56
Speaker 4: I'm like, oh shit, they about to draft me.

02:23:58
Speaker 14: Like I went to you know, took a visitor and ship and then they end up picking the Andre Dillard and I was like, damn, So then I was kind of like a ship, you know, like I'm like and then two picks later, I heard that phone ring and I'm like.

02:24:14
Speaker 1: Did you have like one of those old rotary from the call yourself they called the rotary thing? Yes, dude, that's fucking awesome. But the stress is insane.

02:24:23
Speaker 14: The stress is insane, especially because, like like I say, you see them people that's not getting picked that day. They thought that they were dressed to tie family there, and now you see their family. You know, you know, you're getting sick secondhand embarrassment, and you're just like, damn, like would.

02:24:38
Speaker 9: It be me?

02:24:39
Speaker 4: Like, you know, like.

02:24:42
Speaker 1: That's just come on, that's scary. When you flew to the Raiders, do you fly private?

02:24:47
Speaker 2: No?

02:24:47
Speaker 14: I don't even I'm gonna be honest, bro, it's the first time I ever told this told this story. I don't even know how I got on the plane.

02:24:57
Speaker 2: In a short amount of time.

02:24:59
Speaker 14: When I when I got back, I got back to the whole remember it was it was probably one o'clock. I got back to the hotel The first thing they did was gave me a bottle of champagne. No, I haven't ate nothing the whole day because you're doing we were doing things the whole day. I down the bottle champagne. I'm like, all right, I'm still good. On my people were taking like another shot at the bar. I'm like, all right, I'm going out. Sweet Lee invited me out. I'm like, all right, we were gone. You feel me like I go out. I'm mixing every liquor and note I never really drunk in college, so like I ain't even know, like mixing liquor when something you were supposed to do, you know what I'm saying. Like, so I'm like, boy, I'm good. The whole time we out. We must have got in that car, everything starts spinning.

02:25:46
Speaker 4: I said, fuck, got to the hotel, barely could get the hotel. He like, man, look you gotta leave, and literally like an hour or two you got to be at the airport. Next thing I know, I remember waking up on the plane just were I was like, it was funny because it was at the little If you go back and look at my interview at the Raiders that first first like you know, initial was three first round picks, Me Cleveland, Pharrell, and Jonathan Abrams. I'm like, I know they smelled the liquor on me. I'm Zodie.

02:26:16
Speaker 2: I gotta go check that out.

02:26:17
Speaker 4: I swear like, I'm like said on alcohol coming at your I'm like, I didn't know we were supposed to dress up to this ship.

02:26:29
Speaker 1: So I'm like, you got the raiders pull on? Got I swear. I'm like, everybody want to put this on. That is so funny, dude. That yeah, the night after is unbelievable. The night of the night of you just get after it.

02:26:46
Speaker 4: And like you said, we was in Nashville. You already know.

02:26:50
Speaker 2: That crazy when the draft came through.

02:26:52
Speaker 14: Bro what And that was like the largest like crowd, like thee in a long time. And I remember because I'm like we was hopping everywhere like.

02:27:01
Speaker 4: That was that was a fun day. Yeah, it was a fun day.

02:27:03
Speaker 1: What was your first big purchase?

02:27:05
Speaker 4: We were like, yes, first big purchase, big purchase.

02:27:14
Speaker 14: I would say my first big purchase was I bought my dad a crib. So I bought my dad house before I even had the house I was renting at the time, which I was renting for a steal in Dublin in Oakland because like, I'm like, I had a three bedroom for like twenty seven hundred.

02:27:30
Speaker 4: A month, a three bedroom townhouse with a garage. I was hitting the legs.

02:27:35
Speaker 14: It was people paying thirty eight hundred they stayed in Oakland like for a single.

02:27:42
Speaker 2: Single bro because I remember, I just stayed at the extended state because all the options were crazy.

02:27:46
Speaker 14: So I was like and then not like I said, I deferred my signing bonus. So I was living very modest, like you know, I'm like, I'm not really spending no money or nothing.

02:27:54
Speaker 4: Nothing.

02:27:55
Speaker 14: But actually I ended up doing a Super Bowl commercial for Kia, and I made more in that Superball commercial than I made the whole year in football, so I went it.

02:28:04
Speaker 1: Yeah, where was the commercial shot?

02:28:06
Speaker 4: It's also really at home. I went and bought my pops a crib the next day.

02:28:10
Speaker 1: So did you get taxed in Oklahoma for that or do you?

02:28:13
Speaker 2: Yeah?

02:28:13
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's a win. That is a win. Yeah, because if you play for Tennessee, like you're playing all eight home games, are stating a free state income tax, no state income tax. But then you're also playing in Houston.

02:28:26
Speaker 4: Which is good.

02:28:27
Speaker 1: Yeah, and Florida in your division, so you have like the most amount of no state income tax if you're playing in the AFC South, if you're in Florida.

02:28:34
Speaker 2: Well he got the taste it in Vegas.

02:28:38
Speaker 1: No, yeah, they got no they had no state income tax. But the cost of living is crazy out there there too.

02:28:44
Speaker 2: Yeah, it is nice outlook on this year. How are you feeling? You look healthy, you look ready to go? He was just he was talking before before the pod started, how even though you were like the most carried back in the first quarter of the first half, that you feel like you're in great shape, Like you didn't take much of a beating last year.

02:29:02
Speaker 14: Now I was the cleanest I hadn't had in the year, Like I probably had only had like a couple of games where I felt like I was like damn, this shit lingering, and like I feel it like the damning. The whole year, I was pretty good. Like you ever come out of game and just feel like damn. I did a lot of conditioning, Like they didn't feel like no brumps, no bruises, just like a lot of conditioning. I had a lot of those games. So for me, like what I think of the team when you got a lot of young guys. Was the youngest team in the NFL last year. It's a lot of hunger, which I love. It's a lot of guys that's still coachable, still willing to, you know, like put in the work each day and just to have them type of guys with another year's worth of experience. And then obviously we added some pieces. We add them with Cole Harty, we got Nate Hobbs. You know the draft coming up, We're gonna get some guys. I think we're gonna be straight man. I tell people all the time, we played the Eagles better than any other teams that I seen, and that was just me watching football and scouting and things like that. I'm like, we gave them the best run for their money than any other than any other team.

02:30:08
Speaker 4: So I think we're there. Were just a few pieces away, and we gotta gotta figure it out.

02:30:16
Speaker 2: Yeah, what do you think is gonna take for Green Bay to get over the hump man crazy?

02:30:23
Speaker 14: The division is legit. The division is legit. I always thought, Bro, and they close. That's why I keep telling me. I'm like, Bro, I'm I'm not a I'm realistic. I'm a realistic thinker you feel me. So like the Bears are not bad, bro, Like they got a good team, they just missing some pieces. And I feel like for us, a lot of our problems last year was especially towards the end of the year, like half our team was hurt.

02:30:48
Speaker 4: Like if we would have won.

02:30:49
Speaker 14: Against the Eagles that next game, we would have got blew out because nobody was half our team want to play, you know what I'm saying. Like I saw it was just one of them situations where I was like, we stay healthy.

02:31:01
Speaker 4: We get that.

02:31:01
Speaker 14: You know, we built that callus and like mentally and physically we you know what I'm saying, We we built that callus. We're gonna figure it out. Yeah, stamina, We're gonna figure it out for sure.

02:31:11
Speaker 1: What it talks to me about Matt Lafleur in his process and how he is and then and then after that talk to me about his pregame speeches.

02:31:21
Speaker 14: So Matt, he is first off, his mind for the game is it's up there with the best of them. He is smart, His mind for the game is up there with the best of them. Like one thing I love about me and his relationship. We talk every day, so like when we in season. We literally talk every day. He'll put me to the side or whatever and we'll we have our one on one or he'll be like, you know.

02:31:43
Speaker 2: What do you see?

02:31:44
Speaker 4: What do you whatever? And we'll we had them conversations.

02:31:47
Speaker 14: But like when I say scheme wise and like the way he breaks down films and explains like why we're doing this because you know, a lot of people just tell you do this, Like he break it down like this is why we're doing this because they show this, and they show this. I'm like, damn this, Like he got me thinking, like I'm going on your six at the time, and I'm like, damn, he got me thinking about ship that I ain't even thought about, you know what I'm saying, Like, and so it was a lot of big respect. I think he's also a player's coach. He gives the players a lot of He give us a lot of Like I'm not gonna say Lee way because he don't give Lee way. He gonna stand on what he believe in.

02:32:22
Speaker 1: Uh.

02:32:22
Speaker 14: But like when I say Lee way, like he gonna come to the to the leaders of the team and be like, what do y'all want to do in certain situations like uh, it's code outside of I want to go inside outside, we outside, you know, like that's like things like that. But as a coach man like and he gonna go to war for you. That's another thing too. Headn't got fine for cutting out refs things like that, Like if he believed in something, he gonna go to war for you. So he's just one of them guys man like that group that's in there, you know, Pisace and all of them guys man Like they're legit. They're legit. They make you. They may come in to work fun. I don't know if people know, but we got a basketball hoop in our team meeting room, and we got something like even in the workout rooms and stuff like that, like they have dance sauce. We had like all that, all that kind of stuff. Bro, he just he understand. He got a he got his finger on the post for sure.

02:33:16
Speaker 1: Fun.

02:33:16
Speaker 14: Yeah, he make it fun. He don't make it just work, you know what I'm saying. And then he's efficient with the time. That is that's the thing that I love most. I'm not gonna lie to you, like because I'm already waking up at five every day. I'm not trying to be here from five to six thirty every day. That's basically how it was at the Raiders. Five to six thirty every day.

02:33:39
Speaker 4: Here we out about three three thirty You gone, You're done, bro Yes on Wednesday, on a Wednesday. The only way you staying, the only way you staying longer is if you obviously taking care of your body, right, But like if you already got all that, Like me, I got a whole setup, Like you know what I'm saying, So they like I'll face them, FaceTime them at home recovery. You know what I'm saying.

02:34:00
Speaker 14: So like three third you gone, I'm like, this is different, Like I actually feel like I got a day, Like I don't feel like I'm just working the whole time, you know what I'm saying, Like, and I think that that's something that that helped us a lot, you know, especially like from a mental standpoint, it helped our team a lot. But we also got younger guys, and then each generation that it gets.

02:34:21
Speaker 4: A little weirder and weirder. They are a little a little different, so you kind of gotta like, for real, I'm just.

02:34:27
Speaker 2: Being real, Like his voice gets a little a little.

02:34:31
Speaker 14: Different, but you got it. Just and I feel like he's one of them coaches that he understands. He has his finger on the post for sure.

02:34:37
Speaker 1: I feel like Matt Lafleur's mind being displayed to the public. A good example of that was Malik Willis and Jordan Love went.

02:34:45
Speaker 4: Down, come on.

02:34:49
Speaker 1: And like, I love like he is one of those guys like in the locker room, always the smileest face, always seems eager to learn. But when he was at the Titans, it was like he didn't know the cans, Like he had a really hard time picking up the playbook yep. And so when he went to the Packers, I was thinking, you.

02:35:04
Speaker 2: Know, he's playing in what week?

02:35:07
Speaker 1: Week four?

02:35:08
Speaker 4: Yeah, because we went to three.

02:35:10
Speaker 1: Yeah, And I bet a lot of money on Tennessee. I bet a lot of because I was like, oh, Malice's playing, I know, like you know, I just know he struggled with the playbook quite a bit because I really like him and I don't want to throw the shit at him at all, But he came out and he had.

02:35:24
Speaker 4: A game, and you want to know what's crazy about him?

02:35:26
Speaker 14: So Malik, great dude, great dude, first and foremost hard worker, never signs the light on himself, always gives the light to somebody else, Like he's just wanted them guys that you genuinely be friends with the rest of your life. But me and him, we had that conversation. I'm like he like, he said, Bro, this is the first time I ever felt like I'm getting taught how to play, like for real. And he was like, he said, the way that they breaking it down to me and simplifying things for me, like I feel like I could just play for again, He's like, I feel like I'm in college, like I could just play. So that is something like and even you know you've seen it. The fans even kind of was like, damn, nobody expected him to play as good as he did, and he really look like every game he played in bro, he called, I'm like, damn, Like it got to the point where everybody.

02:36:16
Speaker 4: Was like, I shit, like like what we been to do? Like what's fitna go on?

02:36:21
Speaker 14: But that's just a testament to him, bro, Like and I feel like when you, like I said, bro, when you're a good person, Bro, when you work hard, I feel like everything else, take care of yourself.

02:36:30
Speaker 4: And he's just one of them dudes that we had this talk.

02:36:33
Speaker 14: I literally talked about said, man, you keep putting this on film, like you might have some teams like really trying to come get you, like figuring it out like this next year. I was like, I don't know how long you're gonna be here because you're playing so good, you're playing at a high level that like maybe you're gonna get another chance at it.

02:36:49
Speaker 4: So hopefully I hope you do.

02:36:50
Speaker 14: Man, I think he definitely deserves another chance at least competing for that spot for sure.

02:36:55
Speaker 2: We brushed over it a minute ago because I know coach Laflurt, he's tapped in right now, but he's pregame speeches.

02:37:01
Speaker 4: Oh yes, pre game speeches?

02:37:02
Speaker 2: Does he does? He just get the mic to Basacia.

02:37:05
Speaker 4: I ain't gonna lie. I feel like.

02:37:09
Speaker 14: I feel like he's not really a pregame speech coach. He like he had a few that he was like okay, but he don't mostly like he say the ship that needs to be said, let me say that, like he keep it more like calm, and then he let the players.

02:37:26
Speaker 4: He let the players take over, so like really the players.

02:37:30
Speaker 14: Lead, we lead each other out, like he'll say what he gotta say, and then the players will get this. We'll talk and we will hype everybody up, and then we will lead up and then we'll lead.

02:37:39
Speaker 4: Out, you know.

02:37:40
Speaker 14: And he's always that way. Now, his speeches after the game be befar speeches, speeches even talking to ship then you feel me. But before the game he's more kind of kind of chill. He's more like a calm, collected coach.

02:38:00
Speaker 2: Plays strengths. Yeah, you got to do we get into the last question.

02:38:04
Speaker 1: Let's get in the last question.

02:38:06
Speaker 2: This last question is brought to us by bud Light. Josh, you know how people will do anything for a bud Light. What is something that you would do anything for.

02:38:15
Speaker 4: I can't say.

02:38:17
Speaker 2: Family could be an ambitious goal.

02:38:23
Speaker 4: Any something I would do anything for. Damn, that's a loadly question.

02:38:31
Speaker 1: You got some low hanging fruit though, that's just waiting for you to pick it.

02:38:35
Speaker 4: That's what you think.

02:38:36
Speaker 2: What you think super Bowl?

02:38:40
Speaker 4: But what's anything for it?

02:38:42
Speaker 2: Because when he's on the podcast years ago, he said he'd cut his dick off for a Super Bowl.

02:38:48
Speaker 1: No willing to sacrifice for greatness, not for that.

02:38:55
Speaker 14: That's an as that's it depends on what you think about it.

02:39:01
Speaker 2: When you're in the middle of the season because you're always in that like top three? Do you have your mind on the rushing title offensive MVP? Bro?

02:39:09
Speaker 4: You want to know something, Bro, I've never once any season came into a season with goals. Never, never in my life. Never.

02:39:19
Speaker 14: I feel like, when you work hard on every day and you literally give it everything you have, it's gonna play out how it's supposed to. And if it don't, I can at least live with it not playing the highest sposal because I know I poured everything I had into it. So I've never had goals Like It's to the point where like even when I led the year that that year in Russian, my teammates to tell me where I'm at. I don't never know. I never look at that ship, but I never really care. I'm always big on just like wins and losses. He cared, he'll talk about it. He'll talk about it.

02:39:52
Speaker 4: Because he probably has got just took you out, you know what I'm saying.

02:39:56
Speaker 14: Like for me, I'm like, we won, but I don't care about like when you even lost a lot. It's like winning is literally I don't I don't too much care about what it looked like. Obviously selfishly, I do want to play good, and I do want to, you know, be one of the guys every time, But I feel like that take care of itself by just my day to day habits and what I do on a daily basis.

02:40:20
Speaker 1: It's crazy to me that you because I hear you talking, I feel like matc Crosby has a very similar mindset to you that you do. It's crazy that you guys are on the same team and you guys couldn't make something happen, bro, because you see you, you really you're the head you have on your shoulders is incredible.

02:40:37
Speaker 9: Bro.

02:40:37
Speaker 14: When you going at Raiders Stadium, you're gonna see nine to eight, You're gonna see two, eight, eight and seventeen.

02:40:45
Speaker 4: I'm the only numbers you're gonna see.

02:40:47
Speaker 14: So I'm like, if I'm one of the faces of the franchise since I've came in, since I since my rookie year, what's going on? Oh ye am four, you gonna see Derek Carr. Soo, let me not add no, let me not you don't forget about that. But but I'm like, so yeah, bro, I mean Max. What makes Max great is because honestly, I've never seen nobody ever like him, And that's just me being like from the.

02:41:18
Speaker 4: Mentally, he gotta be off, like you gotta be a little fucked up to play football. I'ma just be real because what we do is dumb as hell.

02:41:24
Speaker 14: Like we run, We run full speed at each other and we hit each other like the fun we're doing it, but like like literally like but literally like the way he approached the game, the way I've seen him go from being a little tubby to being toned up with tattoos and shit, And you're like, damn this, mother, who is this?

02:41:45
Speaker 4: Who is this?

02:41:45
Speaker 14: But his worth ethic when I say you see how he played on Sundays, When I say he does that, he can fuck up a whole practice, Like he's one of them guys that you gotta be all right, you gotta take Max out like you can't let him, you can't let him fuck up the whole practice. He's just such of a difference maker. I've never seen nobody like it. The only guy that I can honestly compare him to is ab which is crazy, but it's the truth. Antonio Brown had that same work at it. Whenever you practice and shiit like every rout one hundred percent hmm, come back to the ball. Never dropped the pass like Max gut all intellig was, Bro, he gonna be great just because it just because of that alone.

02:42:26
Speaker 4: And he knowed to play the game too. He definitely know how to play the game.

02:42:29
Speaker 14: He's smart when it comes when it comes to you know, on the field, in off the field shit. But man, that's why I feel like, yeah, Max, like I said, Bro, I got too much praise for him because he's just one of them dudes.

02:42:43
Speaker 4: I've never seen nothing like it.

02:42:44
Speaker 1: You brought him up. But what was your experience like with Antonio Brown? Was that your rookie year, rookiear So that had to be the craziest.

02:42:51
Speaker 14: Because it's the first time I ever told this story on interview. You remember the whole time he was like free me. Remember when in the whole video free a B Free Me, Grandma. I was right next to him at his house. I got a beat here on my phone right now. I swear, I'll swear everything I love, I love. We was free styling my first time ever pulling up to his house. This is when this ship was going on.

02:43:19
Speaker 4: You feel me. He was free styling and we're sitting there and he got the car.

02:43:25
Speaker 14: You know, he got the cry on all that ship that's before he that was before he burned his feet and ship it's like after right his feet, so like he got to pull the ship. He and one thing I will say, like I say, he worked his ass off. We was there he in the back in the back of his yard catching hundred passes on the jugs, catching him. Then he talked to his grandma seat and he was like, Grandma, this is what I'm thinking, and I don't want to leave. And I tell people all the time, do I think that he was wrong? No, I think he the way he went about it was wrong, But the feeling that he had he wasn't wrong. You know what I'm saying, Like it's kind of hard to explain that unless you really get into it. So like what I mean is like why he was upset and the things that he was upset about.

02:44:19
Speaker 4: He was one hundred percent right to be.

02:44:22
Speaker 14: Upset about him, but how he handled it, I think it was one hundred percent wrong.

02:44:28
Speaker 2: What were the things that he was upset about? Because there are a few things that kind of happened.

02:44:32
Speaker 1: I know one that six out was like he was helmet.

02:44:34
Speaker 14: He was mad about because he couldn't worries him and no more because he worried it's like it went outdated or something like that.

02:44:40
Speaker 4: He couldn't worry.

02:44:41
Speaker 14: He burnt his feet and he was mad because he wanted to do like he was doing, like training, but they wanted him to do it like you know with the He like, I want to see the best people. I can't fucking walk and like you know, so like that was the thing. And then him and Mayock had a conversation.

02:44:57
Speaker 2: Is that the cracker thing?

02:45:00
Speaker 14: They had a conversation. I'm not gonna get into what was said, Alawa said. Alawa said, on both on both ends, you feel me so like I think that like the way he was feeling. Basically he was saying, really what it came down to us, They threatened to take his money and so he was arguing, like to keep his money.

02:45:24
Speaker 4: So I was like, I understand what you're saying, like you And.

02:45:28
Speaker 14: The craziest thing about ab Bro he would be the guy in the meetings that would be on his phone the whole time and everybody know he on his phone, and ain't nobody gonna say nothing, But he go out and practice and never fuck up a play, like I swear, Bro, like he was just different, you feel me, but like he was going through that, he was they were trying to take his money. They was trying to take some of his guarantees and shit, and he was like basically going back and forth with him and like that whole little thing.

02:45:54
Speaker 4: And I think that the people he had around him.

02:45:55
Speaker 14: I don't know if the people still around him, but he had too many guys that were just willing to tell him what ever he wanted to hear. And I remember, like I said, we was literally freestyling and he got that call and he on the phone and he called his grandma and all that stuff, and I remember and I was like, he was like, I got thirty million in the bank right now, Like I don't. I'm like, first off, why do you got thirty million just sitting in the bank. Do something with that money? But That's what I was thinking of. But I'm like, he's not, he's not. He's not necessarily wrong for how he feels, but he's he's wrong, but how he went about it. And that was my perspective on the outside looking in. But I remember Bro, like the whole freemi and then the video came out. Bro, the dude, the dude that made the video was there.

02:46:43
Speaker 4: The whole time. He was following around every bro. The ship was crazy. I think I can probably pull up the freestyle of my phone. I'm not even lying, but I'm not even talking. Let me see if I can part this ship.

02:46:54
Speaker 2: Bro, Yo, that is so funny just picturing that video from what I remember of it and thinking that Joshul sitting there there being like, what the hell is going on?

02:47:03
Speaker 6: Like?

02:47:04
Speaker 4: Is this? I'm like, is this the NFL? Is this what mockers do? Like That's what I'm like.

02:47:09
Speaker 14: Bro, Like, what what in the hell is going on? But let me sell you this, bro, I ain't even gonna sell the whole video. I saw you right where he was freestyling. You can hear his voice, and I'll show you the date. I literally show you today and you'd be like what the fuck.

02:47:30
Speaker 1: While you're while you're finding that, it's like, Mike Tomlin needs love for what he was able to do with ab and all them.

02:47:43
Speaker 4: Who who is that to back?

02:47:48
Speaker 2: Crazy?

02:47:50
Speaker 4: I'm telling you, I'm like, damn.

02:47:53
Speaker 14: But then when he left, when he left though, two, I ain't gonna lie. It was like good and bad. Like obviously it was bad for our team because like shit, he was the biggest, probably the best player on our team.

02:48:05
Speaker 4: Uh, but like all the bullshit went out the window. It was it was all like, okay, this is football, like this is this is the league.

02:48:14
Speaker 14: Everybody started liking in all the media and all that shit. And we was on hard knocks too, so that was another thing.

02:48:19
Speaker 2: It was a lot. Yeah. But yeah, bro, because over here too, like when I came in that year, that he would have like the posse or his crew, they'd be like in the locker roll, Yeah, rolling around the building with Nazi. They might have trying to like train after hours, like trying.

02:48:34
Speaker 4: Yeah, just a lot of different.

02:48:36
Speaker 14: So yeah, like I remember, I remember he came in and when they brought him in, he was like, y'all gotta find me on the private And then when he got there, he was like, I'm not paying for this year.

02:48:46
Speaker 4: They gotta pay for it. I swear Bro. I swear Bro.

02:48:52
Speaker 2: But like one interesting optics.

02:48:54
Speaker 4: He was just different.

02:48:55
Speaker 1: Bro.

02:48:56
Speaker 4: He was just different.

02:48:56
Speaker 14: But like I say all the time, like nobody can ever take away what he did on that field.

02:49:02
Speaker 4: I don't care. I don't care. Nobody saying it. Bro. You can you can get on the person the man as much as as much as you care for or whatever. But like on that field, it's not like him and Max, Him, Max Tay. I ain't seen a lot like it, Like nobody else like.

02:49:18
Speaker 2: That Him Max and who bad.

02:49:25
Speaker 1: But yeah, but like Antonio, think about Antonio Brown, Le'Veon Bell, Ben, Roethlisberger, Councy, all those personalities on one team, James Harrison, all those guys on one team. Like Mike Tomlin needs to write a book those years, dude. That makes him such a good coach. And the fact that Steelers fans are like, hey, Toma might have to leave. It's crazy every year they like they gotta get him out of here. It's like that is. I don't think there's another coach that can handle personalities better than Mike Tomlin.

02:49:54
Speaker 14: He has a lot of coaches don't even like when you got any kind of personality for real, right so you know, especially if you look off. But I mean a b was just putting guys, Bro telling you one of them animals, Bro, one of them guys. He made me step up my my hell, and I'm not doing enough for real.

02:50:16
Speaker 2: For real, we appreciate you a uh JP, I know you had a question. Oh you did, but the air of the light oh yeah.

02:50:26
Speaker 4: So oh yeah yeah, I know if you wanted me to talk about it on here or not.

02:50:33
Speaker 5: Just know each other.

02:50:35
Speaker 14: So b little So he does streaming uh with a guy named They actually just hit five million subscribers literally last week. But it's a guy that I grew up with, like probably literally since like fourth fifth grade. I known him middle school, high school, went to high school together and everything. Stay cool like I was just on a on a pod not too long ago. But cool people, bro. And it's crazy because he went to school, he went to he played a t U University play receiver. He was good, bro, but never really got a chance, you know, like one of those situations. But man, he's doing his thing now. That's my dog, isn't It's crazy? You just say five million subscribers somebody you grew up with, bro. And the funniest part about it is when you when you leave here, just look up his videos.

02:51:25
Speaker 4: How he acts on them videos.

02:51:26
Speaker 14: It's one hundred percent how he is literally like he's always been, Like we've been in class. I'll be like, Bro, I cannot be in class with him, want to get in trouble every time. Just just too funny. It's too funny, bro like, Yeah, he was always that guy for sure.

02:51:40
Speaker 2: Does anybody have anything for Josh for we wrap up?

02:51:49
Speaker 4: Yeah?

02:51:53
Speaker 2: He said that's up. So what Jack saying is Garrett Hargins. He said, you guys shared the same birthday, by the way, so he says, you guys are practically blood. He's a massive Bama fan, so he was. He was bummed to miss this interview.

02:52:05
Speaker 4: I don't have no problems with him being the Tennessee fan. I never lost to them.

02:52:08
Speaker 14: Smoked a lot of smoke as.

02:52:14
Speaker 1: Before you go, how much did you ever get paid of Alabama?

02:52:16
Speaker 12: Bro?

02:52:17
Speaker 4: Believe it or not? Nothing.

02:52:19
Speaker 1: Believe it or I don't believe it.

02:52:20
Speaker 4: You don't.

02:52:21
Speaker 14: I wish I did, But I swear about Hey, I believe him. I swear I wish.

02:52:30
Speaker 1: That makes sense. Dereck Henry tried to tell me he never got money.

02:52:32
Speaker 4: So, Bro, the thing about the thing about Bamah Boster did he get paid?

02:52:37
Speaker 2: Oh, I have no clue.

02:52:38
Speaker 14: I know he's trying to tell you about the thing about Bama is same. He used to say it all the time, he was like, I want to pay y'all, but he was like, we are literally under the microscope. He was like, so everything we doing is getting judged. He said he wasn't willing to risk it. So if people was getting paid, it.

02:52:55
Speaker 4: Was not from him.

02:52:56
Speaker 1: I'll tell you that.

02:52:58
Speaker 4: I tell you that.

02:53:01
Speaker 1: Do you think Alabama is going to be back?

02:53:04
Speaker 4: I think I don't figure it out. Yeah, I think I don't figure it out. Someday I think they're gonna figure it out.

02:53:10
Speaker 14: I think I think the coach needs two of the three years to like really like implement what he what he believe in and his coaching style.

02:53:17
Speaker 4: I think also, well, just.

02:53:19
Speaker 14: From what I've heard from you know ah and you know some of the guys that's that's been back is it's just a different group of guys, you know, like from the work they think everybody complaining and do you know n I l and transfer, you know, like saving Like when I was in school, you had to you had to almost work and play. You couldn't be like I'm mad and want to leave because you would have to sit out, you know what I'm saying, Like now you could just go play, like it's making the job of a coach very hard because it's almost like you can't discipline guys how you want to, because it's just different. It's just different now. So and I think that they told me something like that average guy Bama makes like three hundred thousand, and that's the ones that don't even play.

02:54:05
Speaker 2: Yeah. We were, yeah, we were hearing the same things and mission, Yeah, would you imagine getting your scholarship check? Like I want to say, the floor CB was telling us, like, you know, you could have somebody that's that doesn't do anything, they might get sixty grand. Yeah, could you imagine getting your scholarship check of whatever that was and then getting an extra five thousand dollars a month just from nil bro?

02:54:27
Speaker 1: And that's somebody who's making it's.

02:54:28
Speaker 4: Not gonna live Bro.

02:54:29
Speaker 9: Three.

02:54:30
Speaker 14: I had I remember, I remember I had, like, you know, your fast one hit come in and I had like three thousand.

02:54:37
Speaker 4: I thought that was a lot of money. The pale Grande, the pale grand I'm like, Bro, I'm like, yeah, I got a lot of money. US three thousand, you times are by ten. That's crazy, Bro.

02:54:46
Speaker 14: I don't think that nobody at that age is really mentally or like prepared for that type of money, like I think, I know, right, Do I think that they should be getting paid, Yes, But what I think is the way that they should structured the way that kids get pa should be different. I think that like, you shall only get a certain amount and then the rest you get either when you leave or when you graduate, and do it that way instead of giving all these kids all.

02:55:12
Speaker 4: This money to try and protect them, because not.

02:55:15
Speaker 14: Only not only are you protecting them from their selves, but you protecting them from everybody else too. I think about how many stories we've heard about people's families taking their money or you know, people getting caught up in the wrong things and losing their money that way. And you're telling me, I'm seventeen years old and I've come from nothing, and you're gonna give me this amount of money.

02:55:35
Speaker 4: I'm not gonna know what to do it right.

02:55:37
Speaker 14: And then my first thing to do is do the things that I always grew up and thought that I seen was having money.

02:55:43
Speaker 4: I'm gonna go get a car, I'm gonna get some.

02:55:44
Speaker 14: Jewelry like things that really, you ain't even got that type of money to be doing that type of things that early. You know what I'm saying like, it's just I don't think that that's I don't think that the way that they structured it is smart. And the thing that I would say about saving I don't know if they still do it.

02:56:00
Speaker 4: At Bama.

02:56:01
Speaker 14: That was the best thing beneficial for me was when you're a freshman, they make you take broadcasting classes and they make you take financial literacy classes. It was like mandatory for everybody, and it taught me because I'm like, shit, I ain't know nothing about credit. I know nothing about none of that shit. Like I literally learned all of that in college, you know what I'm saying. So for me, it was like without that, I would know. I don't know if they still do that, But imagine me not knowing that and then you friend, Yeah.

02:56:31
Speaker 4: Like bro, I'm not gonna know what to do with it, Like, yeah, that is wo Yeah.

02:56:35
Speaker 1: Good for shaving to do that too. Man. We appreciate you coming on like five times.

02:56:42
Speaker 2: It has been awesome, Bro, thank you for coming with the boys. Yeah, appreciate you.
