<v Speaker 1>Hey, everybody, welcome to Games Mornings with Me Jeff Grubb,
<v Speaker 1>your host from giant bomb dot com.
<v Speaker 2>Thank you for tuning in.
<v Speaker 1>In this episode, we're gonna be talking about another delay
<v Speaker 1>for a big third party switch to Game and More.
<v Speaker 1>It's gonna be a good one because we have Janatchoba
<v Speaker 1>on the show.
<v Speaker 2>Jan, how are you doing?
<v Speaker 3>Happy Sandwich Wednesdays to those that celebrate. Get the bread out, everybody.
<v Speaker 3>A sandwich Wednesday can be a PB and Jay, It
<v Speaker 3>could be a ham. It could even be an ice
<v Speaker 3>cream sandwich. If you're feeling a little fun.
<v Speaker 2>You got to be a hot dog. Get out leave. Okay, bye, everybody,
<v Speaker 2>thanks for watching.
<v Speaker 3>Hot Dogs are a very special thing that we cannot shouldn't.
<v Speaker 2>I should not even be joking about such a thing.
<v Speaker 1>I recognize that. All right, Well, now you got me
<v Speaker 1>ready for sandwich Wednesday. I'm already thinking about what sandwich
<v Speaker 1>are gonna do? Like what is uh if someone says
<v Speaker 1>sandwich and you have to do like association? Jan, what
<v Speaker 1>is the thing that pops into your head first? Like
<v Speaker 1>what is the er sandwich?
<v Speaker 3>I've been really wanting a mor to della sandwich. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, I.
<v Speaker 1>Think I'm at a point in my life where club
<v Speaker 1>sandwiches are back to being like the sandwich almost like
<v Speaker 1>a cartoony looking club sandwich.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, you get another piece of bread in the middle there,
<v Speaker 2>what's going on?
<v Speaker 3>I am offended? You know, cartoons have already given me
<v Speaker 3>an unrealistic expectation, not only on several things, but particularly
<v Speaker 3>quicksand yeah, uh huh floating through the sky when I
<v Speaker 3>smell a nice pie exactly. I have never in my life,
<v Speaker 3>and I've gone to gone sandwiches, multiple places, different varieties,
<v Speaker 3>ever had a sandwich with a toothpick and an olive
<v Speaker 3>on top.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, all right, but there's definitely places that have done that.
<v Speaker 1>You know, they're usually gonna be like delis. I think
<v Speaker 1>there's a deli in I think called a camera what's
<v Speaker 1>called but it's in Columbus. It's a famous deli Katzingers,
<v Speaker 1>I think, and they do that. I definitely have had
<v Speaker 1>that in my sandwich there, and I felt very pleased,
<v Speaker 1>very very good deli.
<v Speaker 2>Man sandwiches, I can't just go listen.
<v Speaker 1>I don't mind Subway and I don't even mind Jimmy John's,
<v Speaker 1>but I do feel like I got to do a
<v Speaker 1>real sandwich. Now, jan you got me, got me thinking,
<v Speaker 1>got me thinking about sandwiches. All right, we should get

<v Speaker 2>Hello YouTube.
<v Speaker 1>All right, we have a lot to get into, so
<v Speaker 1>let's start the Morning Mess with people of note reviews.
<v Speaker 2>This is one we just did a quick looking X of.
<v Speaker 1>It looked pretty solid and a lot of reviews seem
<v Speaker 1>to like it quite a bit. It's hovering between a
<v Speaker 1>seventy nine and an eighty right now on Open Critic. Yes,
<v Speaker 1>when I just kind of locked things out, look same
<v Speaker 1>scores Crimson Desert right, So people love that. People love
<v Speaker 1>this seventy nine right now. GameSpot gave it a seven
<v Speaker 1>out of ten and said all said, even if we're
<v Speaker 1>not seeing the members of Cadence's band blend their sound
<v Speaker 1>together much in the story, we at least can see
<v Speaker 1>it happening during combat. And while that combat drags a
<v Speaker 1>bit in the last act of the game and messes
<v Speaker 1>with your mind by not matching the tempo of the
<v Speaker 1>quick time inputs to the background battle music. The turn
<v Speaker 1>based system that's their rewards creativity and strategic thinking, and
<v Speaker 1>then duals. Daniel Truck gave it an eight point five
<v Speaker 1>out of ten said still, overall, it's a rock solid,
<v Speaker 1>highly enjoyable experience, and I'd wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone
<v Speaker 1>who likes good old fashioned turn based combat and musical references. Also,
<v Speaker 1>if and when they release an official soundtrack, I will
<v Speaker 1>play it on a loop until my speakers wear out,
<v Speaker 1>especially the Irish battle music.
<v Speaker 2>That track is straight fire.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, Jan, I know you guys came out of that
<v Speaker 1>play session and being like, yeah, this is really something.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I walked away very pleased with it. Was I
<v Speaker 3>already had a little bit of buzz going in, not
<v Speaker 3>because of our dear friend that is a voice in
<v Speaker 3>the game, but also the premise of having a musical
<v Speaker 3>video game isn't something that's pursued a lot. We talked
<v Speaker 3>about this in the Quick Look, but something that happens
<v Speaker 3>a lot, at least in Hollywood lately is a musical
<v Speaker 3>movie will be hidden under several trailers just because they're
<v Speaker 3>scared of the perception of the general movie going populous,
<v Speaker 3>balking at the concept of a musical, which.
<v Speaker 1>People people people say, I won't go see musicals, and
<v Speaker 1>then they'll go watch a musical and not even really
<v Speaker 1>think about it.
<v Speaker 2>Like I like that once they're there, but they can't
<v Speaker 2>know beforehand.
<v Speaker 3>Apparently, Yes, But I like that this game has not
<v Speaker 3>shied away from the fact that it is a musical.
<v Speaker 3>Musical rhythm based elements compose a lot of this game,
<v Speaker 3>and it's just generally very charming. I I appreciate terrible
<v Speaker 3>stupid puns, parentheses positive.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I'm the more I hear about it, the more
<v Speaker 1>I'm like thinking about checking this out at least gonna
<v Speaker 1>give it a shot.
<v Speaker 2>You think it would work on like a Steam deck,
<v Speaker 2>because I know I think so. I think so, I'll
<v Speaker 2>give it a shot. See see what I think? All right,
<v Speaker 2>let's keep going here.
<v Speaker 1>James Bond is the latest major Switch to Port to
<v Speaker 1>get delayed. This is from Ethan Cott Gotch at Kotaku.
<v Speaker 1>Double seven First Light is Hitman Maker Io Interactive's upcoming
<v Speaker 1>James Bond game. It was one of the major third
<v Speaker 1>party games shown during the Nintendo Direct for the original
<v Speaker 1>Switch to reveal, but it's no longer coming to the
<v Speaker 1>platform day and date with the other console versions following
<v Speaker 1>a last minute delay. Double seven First Light comes to
<v Speaker 1>PlayStation five, Xbox Series X and s MPC on May
<v Speaker 1>twenty seven, twenty twenty six, and Nintendo Switch to later
<v Speaker 1>this summer. Io Interactive announced on Wednesday, We're excited to
<v Speaker 1>see players discovering James Bond's reimagined origin story, and we
<v Speaker 1>are looking forward to bringing you the best game experience
<v Speaker 1>possible across to all platforms. The statement comes in response
<v Speaker 1>to an online leek alleging the switch to Port had
<v Speaker 1>been indefinitely delayed. Io Interactive didn't immediately respond to a
<v Speaker 1>request for comment about why the Nintendo version won't be
<v Speaker 1>ready on time. Later the summer might not sound like
<v Speaker 1>too much longer for fans on switch To to have
<v Speaker 1>to wait, but Double seven First Light isn't the first
<v Speaker 1>game to go through porting issues. Borderlands four was supposed
<v Speaker 1>to come to switch To last fall, but was also
<v Speaker 1>delayed at last minute. After months of silence, Gearbox Entertainment
<v Speaker 1>quietly acknowledged that the development of the port had been
<v Speaker 1>indefinitely suspended, with no clear insight into why from Software's
<v Speaker 1>Elden Ring.
<v Speaker 2>Another one of the.
<v Speaker 1>First ports revealed for switch To is still also mia.
<v Speaker 1>A playable version appeared at Games Comp twenty twenty five
<v Speaker 1>in rough shape, though more recent hands on impressions have
<v Speaker 1>suggested that the open world RPG is finally running at
<v Speaker 1>a better frame rate on Nintendo's next gen console. Jan
<v Speaker 1>you you've got that right to touch that right?
<v Speaker 3>I got to check that out during GDC. It performed
<v Speaker 3>completely fine. I was playing on handheld. My eyeballs are
<v Speaker 3>weird where I can't quite tell if it's like a
<v Speaker 3>full sixty sometimes definitely above forty at least.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's I mean, I think that forty would be
<v Speaker 1>fantastic because though it's a one twenty Z.
<v Speaker 3>Screen, I ran straight from the opening area where you
<v Speaker 3>pop out of the church straight to Marget and that
<v Speaker 3>whole time running on Torrent the Horse completely fine.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, So, I mean there's been a mix of sort
<v Speaker 1>of deliverables from these companies in terms of the quality
<v Speaker 1>of their third party port to the switch To over
<v Speaker 1>this last year, and yeah, there are some instances where
<v Speaker 1>it is a gearbox not porting Borderlands on time and
<v Speaker 1>then basically canceling it. And I could see how that happens,
<v Speaker 1>because for as much as the switch To does seem
<v Speaker 1>more capable to the point where we can get a
<v Speaker 1>Resident Evil Requiem in a really in tip top shape,
<v Speaker 1>a real great way to play that game, that's fantastic.
<v Speaker 1>The game still was like not the number one best
<v Speaker 1>seller on the switch To that month that it launched.
<v Speaker 1>It was kind of down further on the chart where
<v Speaker 1>it was, you know, a smash hit on every other platform.
<v Speaker 1>Third party games are still in a questionable state of
<v Speaker 1>desirability from that switch audience. That audience might have other
<v Speaker 1>platforms where they're playing those games and they just don't
<v Speaker 1>associate a good experience with third party Triple A releases.
<v Speaker 2>So I like, if you're looking.
<v Speaker 1>At the money, like how much longer is it going
<v Speaker 1>to to get this running on switch To, is it
<v Speaker 1>going to be worth it to get Borderlands for across
<v Speaker 1>the finish line?
<v Speaker 2>Maybe not.
<v Speaker 1>I'm kind of hoping James Bond isn't In that case,
<v Speaker 1>I think it stands a chance of doing a little
<v Speaker 1>bit better just because it's fresh and new and there's
<v Speaker 1>some James Bond loved for Nintendo fans.
<v Speaker 2>I think that's the case as well. Grub.
<v Speaker 3>I feel like Borderlance for, it's an older franchise at
<v Speaker 3>this point, came out to like very mixed reviews upon
<v Speaker 3>launch that I can't imagine it is something that switch
<v Speaker 3>to owners are clamoring to be a part of. That
<v Speaker 3>being said, I feel like Borderlance For or a Borderland
<v Speaker 3>style game is something you can kind of like turn
<v Speaker 3>your brain off and engage with and play casually on
<v Speaker 3>the switch too. But like you said, I hope James
<v Speaker 3>Bond it doesn't get too too delayed on the switch too,
<v Speaker 3>because newer ip or new introduction to a newer James Bond,
<v Speaker 3>and I think folks may resonate with that. I think
<v Speaker 3>it's gonna be an up hill, a slow, uphill battle
<v Speaker 3>for third parties to find footing on the switch too.
<v Speaker 3>And I think the same thing with audience is to
<v Speaker 3>be able to accept, like, oh no, this is a
<v Speaker 3>viable place now to also pick up these third party
<v Speaker 3>games on the switch to. And I hope Requiem and
<v Speaker 3>eventually Pragmata are going to be good, Yeah, examples to
<v Speaker 3>encourage folks to move forward.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I like you're right, Like there's a perception between
<v Speaker 1>a game on a switch and a game elsewhere where.
<v Speaker 1>It's like, look, I hear people say I had a
<v Speaker 1>good experience playing Resident Evil Requiem on switch to, but
<v Speaker 1>I know I'm not getting the full experience I could
<v Speaker 1>be getting if I played it on one of those
<v Speaker 1>slightly more powerful platforms. It's like, yeah, for sure, I
<v Speaker 1>get that. I just don't feel like I missed out
<v Speaker 1>on anything playing the game on switch to. Does that
<v Speaker 1>move you? And I like for a lot of people,
<v Speaker 1>it's like, yeah, no, I hear you. We're still talking
<v Speaker 1>about seventy eighty dollars, and it's hard to be like, okay,
<v Speaker 1>I'm gonna pay seventy to eighty dollars and recognize I'm
<v Speaker 1>not getting the best possible experience I could be getting,
<v Speaker 1>and just be happy I'm getting one that is, you know,
<v Speaker 1>good enough or beyond maybe a little bit beyond good enough.
<v Speaker 1>But it's just that conversation you have with yourself as difficult.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I feel if anything, this is a for people
<v Speaker 3>that only have a switch to, may have hesitated to
<v Speaker 3>get a PS five, or maybe they just wanted to
<v Speaker 3>get a switch to for specific Nintendo releases haven't adopted
<v Speaker 3>or really participated too much in this current console generation.
<v Speaker 3>It's a good alternative and it's a good option to
<v Speaker 3>be able to pick up those games. And I think
<v Speaker 3>it is encouraging that you get something that is like
<v Speaker 3>RI nine and with the caveat of like, this isn't
<v Speaker 3>going to look amazing amazing, but I can still play it,
<v Speaker 3>I can still engage with it.
<v Speaker 1>So like a year from now, we might be talking
<v Speaker 1>about a switch to that had received within that last
<v Speaker 1>twelve month period, games like a new Call of Duty
<v Speaker 1>and the Dusk Bloods is coming, and maybe EA starts
<v Speaker 1>coming through with some more support from its sports games
<v Speaker 1>or whatever. In that situation, do you think like Nintendo
<v Speaker 1>switch to third party support builds up momentum or is
<v Speaker 1>it going to be the select few games here or
<v Speaker 1>there that kind of maybe break through and that's it.
<v Speaker 3>I think it's going to build up momentum. I think
<v Speaker 3>it's inevitable momentum because I think we're ultimately going to
<v Speaker 3>see some slow down on the PS five on the
<v Speaker 3>Xbox Y where the switch to audience I can only
<v Speaker 3>see growing from.
<v Speaker 2>Here on out. Grub.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, just because of the different first miscellaneous first party titles.
<v Speaker 3>I've seen so many friends shell out to get a
<v Speaker 3>switch to just for something like Pacopia, And I assume
<v Speaker 3>there's going to be another one of those killer apps
<v Speaker 3>to come out from Nintendo that folks just need to
<v Speaker 3>have and if that's their only thing, but they still
<v Speaker 3>want to continue playing other games. Those other games slowly
<v Speaker 3>trickling over, I think are going to eventually have success.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I think dust Bloods continues to be the one where not,
<v Speaker 1>you know, not really a third party game. I think
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo's publishing at least in some regions whatever, but it's
<v Speaker 1>from software.
<v Speaker 2>It means a lot.
<v Speaker 1>That game is going to be indicative of, like switch
<v Speaker 1>to in a lot of ways, because it is it's exclusive,
<v Speaker 1>but it's not. It's the like again, I don't associate
<v Speaker 1>with like Nintendo traditionally. Let's see what audiences do with that.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, go ahead, what were you going to say?
<v Speaker 3>I think the sikos are going to show up, grub
<v Speaker 3>I think so too.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, I mean I think what is happening right now.
<v Speaker 1>Someone was mentioning this on a less than Nintendug's last
<v Speaker 1>night in one of our comments. They were saying, do
<v Speaker 1>you feel like Nintendo is building up a first year
<v Speaker 1>and a half of games that are a lot of
<v Speaker 1>I will pick that up also once I eventually get
<v Speaker 1>a switch to for Maria or Zelda, And it's like, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I mean, I think they've found themselves in this situation.
<v Speaker 2>They're trying to set that up.
<v Speaker 1>But I do think that they're like I've seen a
<v Speaker 1>lot of people on subreddits for like from Software saying
<v Speaker 1>a man, I am not going to get a switch
<v Speaker 1>to this, and they're like this game is gonna fail
<v Speaker 1>because no one's going to get a switch to for
<v Speaker 1>Dust Bloods, which we just we know is not true,
<v Speaker 1>but some people might feel that way. And I wonder
<v Speaker 1>if you know, between games like Tomodacci Life and Pacopia,
<v Speaker 1>these interesting games that like have taken off and have
<v Speaker 1>a lot of viral success.
<v Speaker 2>If stuff like that becomes one more weight on.
<v Speaker 1>The side of all right, I guess I will get
<v Speaker 1>a switch to for dust Bloods because it's not just
<v Speaker 1>the dust Bloods.
<v Speaker 2>I'm getting some of these other games as well, and
<v Speaker 2>I think it's I think that's possible.
<v Speaker 1>I think that could happen, and a lot of it
<v Speaker 1>will come down to just how good is that game really.
<v Speaker 1>It's using some secret sauce in terms of apparently the
<v Speaker 1>name for dust Bloods in China is the exact same
<v Speaker 1>name they used for Bloodborne.
<v Speaker 2>I don't like.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know if like people who probably know that
<v Speaker 1>language much better can figure that out and tell me
<v Speaker 1>for sure if that's true. But I've seen people saying
<v Speaker 1>that it's like, Okay, they're really going for it.
<v Speaker 3>I feel like this is going to be the closest
<v Speaker 3>uh from fans will get to another blood.
<v Speaker 2>Born anytime soon. Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>I mean when we saw the initial reveal trailer, I
<v Speaker 3>think all of us were saying blood Born, Bloodborn, blood Born. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>So I think those fans will be pleased that this
<v Speaker 3>is you know the closest taste of an updated Bloodborne
<v Speaker 3>will get and I think it's I think it's inevitable
<v Speaker 3>crub that it's going to hit you. You look at
<v Speaker 3>the elder numbers.
<v Speaker 1>And I mean night Rain numbers, right, Like night Rain
<v Speaker 1>was this weird other thing and it's huge, it crushed,
<v Speaker 1>and this has the potential to be similar. I think,
<v Speaker 1>like we don't know exactly how it's going to play.
<v Speaker 1>I think people are speculating it could have some extraction elements,
<v Speaker 1>and I know that's going to scare people away initially.
<v Speaker 1>But night Rain was huge and it's kind of similar,
<v Speaker 1>so I think they'll be able to figure out what.
<v Speaker 1>Especially this is me at Zaki's next game. Yeah, that
<v Speaker 1>alone is going to go a long way.
<v Speaker 3>Cat me on in the twitch chat saying if this
<v Speaker 3>is blood Born night Rain, holy smoke, scrub, It's it's
<v Speaker 3>right gonna be game over parentheses positive because all the
<v Speaker 3>sickos will just be out in the full moon and
<v Speaker 3>not roaming the streets of Yarnum perhaps, but a different
<v Speaker 3>Gothic European city.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Well yeah, Narniam, Narniam, yeah, Narniam. All right, let's get
<v Speaker 1>to this next story here, Absolum arrives on Nintendo Switch
<v Speaker 1>to in a new physical version later this year from
<v Speaker 1>Alex Hopley at Game Reactor. Technically, Absolum is already playable
<v Speaker 1>on Nintendo Switch two thanks to it having a Switch
<v Speaker 1>version you can buy on the e Shop. However, soon
<v Speaker 1>it'll be getting a dedicated release for the next gen
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo platform courtesy of silver Lining Interactive. As you can
<v Speaker 1>see there's the video below. Absolum gets a new physical
<v Speaker 1>addition on Nintendo Switch to and Q three this year,
<v Speaker 1>which will cost forty five pounds or fifty euros. I
<v Speaker 1>bet that will be around around forty five to fifty
<v Speaker 1>bucks obviously, which is more than double the price of
<v Speaker 1>the game on Steam right now. However, there are hopes
<v Speaker 1>for some performance upgrades the Nintendo Switch version. Also, it
<v Speaker 1>has been confirmed that it won't be a game key
<v Speaker 1>card and instead will be offered as a full game
<v Speaker 1>on the card.
<v Speaker 2>So yeah, hey, that's the main reason I included this.
<v Speaker 1>I thought people would want to know that, Jenn, I'm
<v Speaker 1>just never going to go back to being a physical collector.
<v Speaker 1>But you know, occasionally there are a couple of games
<v Speaker 1>where I'm like, that was cool, kind of special to me.
<v Speaker 1>I like that they're getting physical special editions later, and
<v Speaker 1>this is one where I might pick this up just
<v Speaker 1>to have it on the shelf.
<v Speaker 2>I thought Absolom was really awesome. Yeah, I'm in a.
<v Speaker 3>Very similar boat Grub where I think, at least with
<v Speaker 3>video games, I'm past the point where I want to
<v Speaker 3>engage in physical media just because of you know, my
<v Speaker 3>Lobster's to buttery, my steak is too juicy. But like,
<v Speaker 3>we just are inundated with so many games that I
<v Speaker 3>just I could not possibly fathom having all of them
<v Speaker 3>on a shelf. Ye same, And at this point, if
<v Speaker 3>I'm going to if a game really speaks to me
<v Speaker 3>or affects me, probably just go buy some art from
<v Speaker 3>from the game or or some other piece of media.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, for sure.
<v Speaker 3>But for folks out there where you know, this is
<v Speaker 3>still a big issue, this is a big thing. I'm
<v Speaker 3>happy to see a specifically an indie studio recognizing that
<v Speaker 3>there is a need for the actual game on the
<v Speaker 3>cart yep.
<v Speaker 1>I mean every time that this happens, I think there's
<v Speaker 1>an army of switch to physical game collectors who activate
<v Speaker 1>and like all right, yeah, we are supporting this game
<v Speaker 1>because it's game on card, and we want to show
<v Speaker 1>that that is the motivating factor for us and then
<v Speaker 1>and they're going to get an awesome game out of
<v Speaker 1>it as well, because.
<v Speaker 2>This it just it absolutely rules that game.
<v Speaker 3>You should you were you were free from the Chains
<v Speaker 3>of Titter.
<v Speaker 2>Now, yeah, I can just go play that on my own.
<v Speaker 3>That being said, if and when I eventually move a grub,
<v Speaker 3>I am thinking about what if I become a Blu
<v Speaker 3>ray Siko.
<v Speaker 1>I mean that I get right, I mean building a
<v Speaker 1>movie collection on a wall.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know, I get but that.
<v Speaker 1>Server, yeah, exactly, And that's what I do every time
<v Speaker 1>I have that conversation with myself, I just go back
<v Speaker 1>and spruce up the plex server. All right, Chains of
<v Speaker 1>Titter dot MP three, everybody look out for it coming soon.
<v Speaker 1>Let's let's take a break. Plenty of more headlines to
<v Speaker 1>get into. We'll do that after this these ad messages.
<v Speaker 1>If you want to skip out on the ads, you
<v Speaker 1>should do so. Go to GiantBomb dot com slash join
<v Speaker 1>become a premium member. There you can get ad free
<v Speaker 1>versions of the audio and video program. In the meantime, however,
<v Speaker 1>we will be right back. All right, we are back
<v Speaker 1>with Game mess Mornings. That's Jana Choa. I'm Jeff Grubb.
<v Speaker 1>We're getting back into the headlines here. With Assassin's Creed
<v Speaker 1>Black Flag remake reveal seemingly set for April sixteenth, Insider
<v Speaker 1>Gaming is reporting that Ubisoft is preparing to reveal Assassin's
<v Speaker 1>Creed Black Flag remake, which is officially titled Assassin's Creed
<v Speaker 1>Black Flag RECNCD, next week, on Thursday, the sixteenth of April.
<v Speaker 1>This has not yet been confirmed by Ubisoft themselves, but
<v Speaker 1>Insider Gaming is pretty certain that that's when the unveiling.
<v Speaker 2>Is scheduled to happen.
<v Speaker 1>The site says that the announcement has been planned for
<v Speaker 1>April sixteenth for some time, and that the game is
<v Speaker 1>scheduled to release in the fiscal year of twenty twenty
<v Speaker 1>seven Q two, which is anywhere from June to August
<v Speaker 1>of this year. So yeah, keep that in mind, that's
<v Speaker 1>this year still. Yeah, Okay, We've been waiting for this
<v Speaker 1>one for a long time. It always feels like, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>that's about to come out, and then something crazy happens,
<v Speaker 1>or hebu Soft cancels a bunch of games, delays all
<v Speaker 1>their other games. Has one of a numerous one hundred
<v Speaker 1>person layoffs, one right after the other. It's like, well,
<v Speaker 1>can they even release another game over there? At you
<v Speaker 1>be soft obviously falling apart at the seams. This one
<v Speaker 1>has always been like, isn't it done? Is it coming
<v Speaker 1>all right?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah?
<v Speaker 1>I will still probably be interested to see what this
<v Speaker 1>looks like, because I get why these companies all want
<v Speaker 1>to do these. They it feels like free money at
<v Speaker 1>a certain point, and the industry has shown that companies
<v Speaker 1>that go back to their back catalog spruce these games
<v Speaker 1>up can make a lot of money. I just this
<v Speaker 1>game is not that old, right, I mean, I guess
<v Speaker 1>it's getting old now, but it was from twenty thirteen.
<v Speaker 2>I want to say, Grub, that's old now. That's old now,
<v Speaker 2>it's thirteen years ago.
<v Speaker 1>But it's just it's like, if they released this game today,
<v Speaker 1>it wouldn't look that different than what it looked like
<v Speaker 1>back then.
<v Speaker 2>Is oh, I'm sure. So it's just I want to
<v Speaker 2>see what they're doing with it, one hundred percent.
<v Speaker 3>That being said too, though, Grub, I don't know why,
<v Speaker 3>but I've kind of been in the mood to just
<v Speaker 3>run around roofs and assassin and throw assassinate folks and
<v Speaker 3>just like throw powders and poisoned darts and whatnot. Yep,
<v Speaker 3>So I think there may be a slight hankering and
<v Speaker 3>maybe I'm hankering for games where I can just kind
<v Speaker 3>of turn my brain off, and I most fondly remember
<v Speaker 3>that with the Assassin's Creed games, at least the earlier
<v Speaker 3>side of them. This is also probably this is going
<v Speaker 3>to hurt to say, Grub, but this is someone's childhood franchise.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, for sure.
<v Speaker 1>I mean the kids who were playing this when they
<v Speaker 1>were like twelve, they're now running around, Yeah, they're they're
<v Speaker 1>in their mid twenties now. Yeah, they could be in
<v Speaker 1>this audience right this second.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, terrifying.
<v Speaker 3>It's terrifying. So I think them wanting an updated version
<v Speaker 3>of the game would do well. And Grub, you said it,
<v Speaker 3>it's free money, right. We've seen the success of the
<v Speaker 3>Uncharted remake remasters, especially the Last of Us is out there,
<v Speaker 3>and I feel like, in a similar vein, Assassin's Creed
<v Speaker 3>is kind of that, like it has become a dad
<v Speaker 3>game in my head, yeah, where it's like, okay, like
<v Speaker 3>just throw the popcorn on, let's just go assassinate pools
<v Speaker 3>and and just play a game.
<v Speaker 2>Ass game. Yep.
<v Speaker 1>It's it's the thing where they started introducing tourism modes
<v Speaker 1>to these games, where instead of just playing the game,
<v Speaker 1>you get to explore the setting and there's like extra
<v Speaker 1>details about the world and maybe even like some like
<v Speaker 1>voiceover narrative of the developers explain it, explaining like the
<v Speaker 1>architecture or something like that. It's like, oh, yeah, that
<v Speaker 1>that is a huge part of like the reason people
<v Speaker 1>come to these games. It is too for this escapism
<v Speaker 1>and to see these things that they can only see
<v Speaker 1>in a game. So yeah, that's that's that's cool, and
<v Speaker 1>I think that they can make that work. But I
<v Speaker 1>wonder if they're like, oh no, Assassin's Creed was once,
<v Speaker 1>like someone in chat pointed it out, there were gamers
<v Speaker 1>who were like, all I play are FIFA and Assassin's Creed.
<v Speaker 1>Every year, I get the new FIFA, I get the
<v Speaker 1>new Assassin's Creed. It was one of those games, and
<v Speaker 1>I don't I don't know if Assassin's Creed ever ever
<v Speaker 1>returns to that sort of prominence, but they can make
<v Speaker 1>it like feel more important and matter more if they
<v Speaker 1>give it some love.
<v Speaker 2>Similar to what Capcom's done threasent.
<v Speaker 3>Evil, Right, Yeah, but I also echo your worries and
<v Speaker 3>sentiment grub that can you be soft just ship this?
<v Speaker 3>Are they capable of this? Because we heard about the
<v Speaker 3>Prince of Persia Sands of Time remake until the sand
<v Speaker 3>ran out for that game, yes, and it felt like
<v Speaker 3>or it seemed like it was very close to the
<v Speaker 3>finish line. Now, all things considered, there were a couple
<v Speaker 3>of things that u Besoft was not happy with, But
<v Speaker 3>for that game to get that far and then for
<v Speaker 3>several other projects to be canceled by Ubisoft, the worry
<v Speaker 3>is there that can they do this?
<v Speaker 2>Yep? I uh, their future is so uncertain.
<v Speaker 1>It does feel like there's more collapse waiting to happen
<v Speaker 1>there before they figure it out. So yeah, this this
<v Speaker 1>game's not gonna change their fate in any way.
<v Speaker 2>So I just hope it comes out.
<v Speaker 1>It's good people who who worked on it can secure
<v Speaker 1>their futures and do a lot of this kind of
<v Speaker 1>work into the future. If a bunch of Assassin's Creed
<v Speaker 1>remakes have to happen so that a bunch of people
<v Speaker 1>could stay employed, I will take that and I'll be
<v Speaker 1>happy about.
<v Speaker 2>It all right.
<v Speaker 1>Next up, leaker claims Nintendo is looking to pitch a
<v Speaker 1>Luigi's Mansion movie. This is from my Nintendo News. A
<v Speaker 1>leaker with an intermittent track record, special Nick He's pretty
<v Speaker 1>good about Nintendo these days, has said that he's heard
<v Speaker 1>that Nintendo is looking to pitch an animated movie based
<v Speaker 1>on the beloved Luigi's Mansion franchise. The company would presumably
<v Speaker 1>employ the talents of Illumination, who are behind the Super
<v Speaker 1>Mario Brothers movie, in the Super Mario Galaxy movie. I mean, Jane,
<v Speaker 1>everything's on the table at this point, right, because after
<v Speaker 1>that second movie crushed, they have to be like, Okay,
<v Speaker 1>that worked again. Now we can really start to Expand
<v Speaker 1>we've already heard rumors that they're working on a Donkey
<v Speaker 1>Kong movie. They got to be looking at what else
<v Speaker 1>they could be doing. Obviously, I think they want to
<v Speaker 1>stay pretty close to that Mario core because that is
<v Speaker 1>what's proven.
<v Speaker 2>And there's almost certainly.
<v Speaker 1>A Luigi's Mansion game coming up soon, right, So all
<v Speaker 1>these things line up to the point where Nintendo's like,
<v Speaker 1>we should have that movie.
<v Speaker 3>One hundred percent grub and I feel like Illuminations like
<v Speaker 3>hit record is actually pretty high outside of the Mario stuff.
<v Speaker 3>If they're just we're just looking at Minion's Secret Life
<v Speaker 3>of Pets.
<v Speaker 2>I forget what several billion dollar movies. Yes, one hundred
<v Speaker 2>percent that.
<v Speaker 3>Uh. The Mario stuff just feels like a victory lap
<v Speaker 3>for them where they can like, oh, we could kind
<v Speaker 3>of just do whatever with these guys and it'll sell gangbusters.
<v Speaker 3>But that being said, I would love a Luigi's Mansion movie.
<v Speaker 3>I would love more Charlie Day and things.
<v Speaker 2>Yep.
<v Speaker 1>I uh, yes, exactly. They have They have a cast
<v Speaker 1>that's kind of nailing it. Like, especially when it comes
<v Speaker 1>to Charlie Day, I think he's great as Luigi, and
<v Speaker 1>I think, yeah, they've they I don't know. I think
<v Speaker 1>they could do a Luigi's Matchion movie and actually make
<v Speaker 1>it just a better movie than the Mario movies have been.
<v Speaker 1>Because the Mario movies have to so much, they have
<v Speaker 1>like so many reference references. They want to make Luig's
<v Speaker 1>Mansion can do that, but it can scale it all
<v Speaker 1>down and focus on Luigi in a fun, you know,
<v Speaker 1>spooky house trying to find Mario.
<v Speaker 2>I would welcome that also, Greb.
<v Speaker 3>This would mean that we wouldn't have to worry about
<v Speaker 3>Chris Pratt in the movie because he's not he probably
<v Speaker 3>wouldn't be there.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, he got, he got captured, and we just don't
<v Speaker 2>have to hear from him at all that yes, you got.
<v Speaker 2>We could hear Charlie Day doing his Mario, which is
<v Speaker 2>what I want.
<v Speaker 3>I think it's interesting watching the press tour for this
<v Speaker 3>movie and how it is how siloed off Chris Pratt
<v Speaker 3>is from the rest of the cast, because they are
<v Speaker 3>continuing to push and I still haven't seen the movie. Uh,
<v Speaker 3>they're pushing Annie Taylor Joy very hard, of course, Jack
<v Speaker 3>Black very hard, of course, but also Donald Glover and
<v Speaker 3>kind of smoothing Chris Pratt aside, despite being the star
<v Speaker 3>and the titular character of the movie.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's.
<v Speaker 1>A lot of times you could just tell that when
<v Speaker 1>he's talking, he's like, right, isn't there this thing in
<v Speaker 1>the movie he doesn't.
<v Speaker 2>Really know, and he's kind of waiting for Jack Black.
<v Speaker 1>Who will know, or like Anya Taylor Joy who also
<v Speaker 1>seems to know, and obviously Britty Larson who definitely knows.
<v Speaker 1>He's kind of waiting for them to take over his
<v Speaker 1>thought so that he could be like, I think this
<v Speaker 1>is in there. Can you guys help me out? Is
<v Speaker 1>what every answer to his questions feels like. It's yeah,
<v Speaker 1>it's very fun.
<v Speaker 3>It's such an interesting cast when I think about a
<v Speaker 3>grub and this is thinking about the movie way too much, right,
<v Speaker 3>where you have people that seem like people in like
<v Speaker 3>Charlie Day, Donald Glover, Jack Black, Keegan Michael Key or
<v Speaker 3>Keegan Michael what's his last name?
<v Speaker 2>Keegan Michael Key is right? Okay, yes, and.
<v Speaker 3>Like obstensibly normal people throwing Benny Safti for good measure.
<v Speaker 3>And then you have like someone that has become a robot,
<v Speaker 3>like Chris Pratt.
<v Speaker 1>Yep, I mean yeah, I Chris Pratt's like, man, I
<v Speaker 1>don't think it gets why people don't like him. And
<v Speaker 1>it's like I would leave the Jesus stuff at home, homie,
<v Speaker 1>That's that's what we need.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I still enjoy all a lot of those interviews because
<v Speaker 1>it is like obviously, like Brie Larson is having the
<v Speaker 1>time of her life.
<v Speaker 2>Brie Larson also a normal person.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, she's super normal, and she's like seems so happy
<v Speaker 1>to have like escaped the YouTube reactionary video hell that
<v Speaker 1>she was in for so long, where now even those
<v Speaker 1>people are like, it's awful because they're not going at her,
<v Speaker 1>but they're taking credit for her being better. And it's like,
<v Speaker 1>I still want to beat the shit out of you dudes.
<v Speaker 1>But at the very least, yes, I'm sure she'll take
<v Speaker 1>this because they're leaving her alone. And it's like, God,
<v Speaker 1>thank God, Yes, she's having a great time. That is infectious.
<v Speaker 1>I really enjoy her interviews so far for this movie.
<v Speaker 1>All right, let's see here from the next story. Uh yeah,
<v Speaker 1>maybe Link shouldn't talk in the Zelda movie, says Majora's
<v Speaker 1>mask creator.
<v Speaker 2>This is from Jen Glennon at Polygon.
<v Speaker 1>Basically, the the the uh Immamurah who worked on Majora's
<v Speaker 1>mask has been I did an interview and was just like, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>the moment leak speaks. I can't help but worry a
<v Speaker 1>little that the Zelda magic everyone has been nurturing and
<v Speaker 1>their hearts might vanish into thin air. Now that the
<v Speaker 1>Super Mario Galaxy movie has been out for a few days.
<v Speaker 1>How do Yeah, this is someone else asking a question,
<v Speaker 1>but they put it in quotes.
<v Speaker 2>Okay.
<v Speaker 1>I think that if the magic of Zelda is so
<v Speaker 1>fragile that the second link speaks, it vanishes.
<v Speaker 2>What are we even doing here?
<v Speaker 1>I think these characters are strong enough that Link can
<v Speaker 1>talk and things won't fall apart at the seams.
<v Speaker 2>Jen, what do you think.
<v Speaker 3>I think it's completely fine and reasonable for this character
<v Speaker 3>to talk in a movie.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I just I get like these people who've worked
<v Speaker 1>on Zelda like have like strong opinions about Oh of course.
<v Speaker 2>Uh, but I guess I did always.
<v Speaker 1>Assume, just assume like that's me a moto and it's like, no,
<v Speaker 1>I think everyone at Nintendo or a lot of people
<v Speaker 1>in Nintendo actually feel.
<v Speaker 2>That way as well. But yeah, he's got he's got
<v Speaker 2>to talk in the movie. And it can't.
<v Speaker 1>It can't be like going into this thinking that might
<v Speaker 1>ruin the character. It's like, that's not much of a
<v Speaker 1>character if that's the concern.
<v Speaker 2>I I just don't know.
<v Speaker 3>There's gonna be so many people that will not be
<v Speaker 3>happy grub either way, no matter the decision, right.
<v Speaker 1>Right, you know, if it's if it's a good performance
<v Speaker 1>and you know, the story is interesting and the people
<v Speaker 1>care about the character, I think most people will get.
<v Speaker 1>On the other side of it, we will have a
<v Speaker 1>lot of opinions and debate about it up until that
<v Speaker 1>moment where we know the movie is actually good or not,
<v Speaker 1>because we're gonna hear it in trailers and man, that
<v Speaker 1>for that first is Zelda trailer. Excuse me, it's going
<v Speaker 1>to be like, it's gonna have it's gonna say a
<v Speaker 1>lot like what kind of tone does it have?
<v Speaker 2>Does it look good? Yeah? Are these characters sounding right?
<v Speaker 1>There's gonna be a lot of points of contention that
<v Speaker 1>people can argue about on the internet. It's probably gonna
<v Speaker 1>be pretty miserable, But I still I think they could
<v Speaker 1>pull it off as long as they just treat it
<v Speaker 1>with care. But they're gonna have to convince people through
<v Speaker 1>actual effort.
<v Speaker 3>I recently, for folks at home, watched for the first
<v Speaker 3>time Princess Mononoke.
<v Speaker 2>Greb. They should just do that if we're.
<v Speaker 1>Being on it, obviously, yes, obviously, just just do that.
<v Speaker 1>You already ripped it off for the game, just do
<v Speaker 1>it for the movie as well. Absolutely, Man, that's I
<v Speaker 1>remember we went to rent a movie at Blockbuster with
<v Speaker 1>me and all my friends and the clerk there was
<v Speaker 1>just like, you should get this. It's it's the Star
<v Speaker 1>Wars of anime, and we picked it up and saw
<v Speaker 1>the quote on the box as the Star Wars of anime,
<v Speaker 1>and it's like, Okay, well this guy might not know
<v Speaker 1>what he's talking about, but this, I mean, I don't know,
<v Speaker 1>this red Elk thing looks pretty dope.
<v Speaker 2>And we took it home and it was just like, Oh,
<v Speaker 2>this is my entire life from now on, Princess monon. Okay,
<v Speaker 2>it's just so good. Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>I just want to roam around with a bunch of
<v Speaker 3>bores trying to save forest spirits, grub.
<v Speaker 2>That's all I want. That's that's my weekends. Maybe that's it.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I'm looking forward to that first trailer. We should
<v Speaker 1>get it pretty soon, right Jan the first trailer for
<v Speaker 1>this movie.
<v Speaker 2>I would assume.
<v Speaker 3>But I feel like the Mario at least movies have
<v Speaker 3>inadvertently conditioned people to expect like a happy, fun time
<v Speaker 3>with Nintendo movies, and this is definitely not going to
<v Speaker 3>match that tone of a Mario movie, and I hope
<v Speaker 3>it doesn't, right, Yeah, Yeah, for sure, I feel like
<v Speaker 3>this isn't gonna be one that families are clamoring to
<v Speaker 3>go see.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, I think that they're still going to be concerned with,
<v Speaker 1>like capturing that audience that showed up for the Mario movies,
<v Speaker 1>So I hope that does.
<v Speaker 2>They don't work backward from that.
<v Speaker 1>Just make the best the Zelda movie you possibly can
<v Speaker 1>and let the chips fall where they may, because I
<v Speaker 1>think if you do that right, you might not necessarily
<v Speaker 1>get the family audience that showed up for Mario, but
<v Speaker 1>you could get the family and like friend group audiences
<v Speaker 1>that show up for big fantasy movies like Lord of
<v Speaker 1>the Rings, and that could be big in its own way.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>If they can somehow capture the magic that the Lord
<v Speaker 3>of the Rings fans are into, then I think they
<v Speaker 3>could find some success. Even the Game of Thrones audience
<v Speaker 3>right if looking for that kind of fantasy style media.
<v Speaker 2>Yep, I will see.
<v Speaker 1>I mean I continue to walk around every day like
<v Speaker 1>saying to myself, there's no way that movie is going
<v Speaker 1>to be good.
<v Speaker 2>It's going to be another bad video game movie. But
<v Speaker 2>I hope they figure it out. I would really be
<v Speaker 2>excited about that, all right.
<v Speaker 1>Sony Pictures Entertainment to layoff hundreds in reorganization across TV
<v Speaker 1>film in corporate. This is related to video games. It
<v Speaker 1>kind of talks about their shifting priorities. This is from
<v Speaker 1>Jennifer Moss at Variety Sony Pictures Entertainment is restructuring its
<v Speaker 1>operations with plans for hundreds of layoffs across its film,
<v Speaker 1>TV and corporate divisions. Sources tell Variety. The layoffs, which
<v Speaker 1>are expected to result in a few hundred eliminations out
<v Speaker 1>of the twelve thousand employees that work for the organization globally,
<v Speaker 1>are now underway and expected to continue you into the
<v Speaker 1>coming months. Among the notable changes there, there's leadership changes.
<v Speaker 1>But they also go on to say that this is
<v Speaker 1>not part of a cost cutting effort. It's targeted st strategic,
<v Speaker 1>and they're shifting their investments away from like game shows
<v Speaker 1>and other old style linear television programs to anime and
<v Speaker 1>video game adaptations and stuff like that. They like talk
<v Speaker 1>about brand adaptations and stuff, but the obvious point of
<v Speaker 1>emphasis there is they're making a lot more video game
<v Speaker 1>movies instead, And so they're like, we're taking the money
<v Speaker 1>we are paying for these people over here, and we're
<v Speaker 1>going to hire more people to work on this stuff
<v Speaker 1>over there. I mean, it's hard to argue at a
<v Speaker 1>certain point with it's a shifting landscape. YEA, certainly, I
<v Speaker 1>can imagine maybe making game shows isn't like as big
<v Speaker 1>of a business as it once was. Although man to
<v Speaker 1>figure that out because people still love game shows. But anime,
<v Speaker 1>I get that's their core business right now. Video game
<v Speaker 1>adaptations have been working for a lot of people. There's
<v Speaker 1>every reason for Sony to be like, we own these things,
<v Speaker 1>we should be making more of those.
<v Speaker 2>How do you read all this, Jane?
<v Speaker 3>Just because they own all those does and are going
<v Speaker 3>to start focusing on those doesn't mean that they will
<v Speaker 3>be good.
<v Speaker 2>Unfortunately.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I'm Morbi. I just expect Morbius across the board
<v Speaker 1>from Sony at this point.
<v Speaker 2>Exactly.
<v Speaker 3>You look at how they have mishandled owning the Spider
<v Speaker 3>Man ip and you get something like, gosh, Morbius, what
<v Speaker 3>was the Dakota Johnson one? Madam dam Web, Madam Web,
<v Speaker 3>Madam Web. Yeah, being a hot Garbo. And I have
<v Speaker 3>a very soft spot for Tom Holland in my heart.
<v Speaker 3>I think he's a great actor. I'm excited to see
<v Speaker 3>him in the new Christopher Nolan flick. But the Uncharted
<v Speaker 3>movie did not serve him well at all. No, I
<v Speaker 3>don't think it's served anyone well if we're being honest.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, they haven't really figured those God, you're right, The
<v Speaker 1>Untriity movie is kind of the poster child of this. It's, uh,
<v Speaker 1>that movie underperformed what it could have done if it
<v Speaker 1>was really well made, and uh, no one.
<v Speaker 2>Talks about it. It just doesn't have a legacy.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, and the worst part grub It feels like that
<v Speaker 3>was like a home game for them and they screwed
<v Speaker 3>the pooch because this is uncharted. Is like they're one
<v Speaker 3>of their tenth pole franchises, or at least was for
<v Speaker 3>the PlayStation, right, and to screw the movie a little
<v Speaker 3>bit of a bummer. I can't imagine producing game shows
<v Speaker 3>is that costly, especially once you have everything set.
<v Speaker 2>That's the whole idea of them.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's that they're they're really cheap to make and
<v Speaker 1>stuff like that, and like they're just like talking about
<v Speaker 1>they have There was like a game show group that
<v Speaker 1>was making original game shows and then they also I
<v Speaker 1>think own game show network and they're kind of combining
<v Speaker 1>those things.
<v Speaker 2>So it's like a lot of that stuff.
<v Speaker 1>So like, oh, maybe there was already some redundancy or whatever,
<v Speaker 1>but still it's like a yeah, you're you're peeling away
<v Speaker 1>from that stuff, and I would instead, can't you just
<v Speaker 1>make that stuff make sense for the modern era. There's
<v Speaker 1>got to be a way to like make game shows
<v Speaker 1>for social but they're used to getting big paydays from
<v Speaker 1>TV contracts, and those TV contracts are obviously drying up
<v Speaker 1>for traditional game shows.
<v Speaker 3>Fair enough.
<v Speaker 2>I did catch.
<v Speaker 3>American Idol on a hospital TV this week, and I
<v Speaker 3>was just staring at it, just surprised at, like, Okay, wait,
<v Speaker 3>that's still Ryan Seacrest. Why you know, is the actor
<v Speaker 3>from Hanging with Mister Cooper here?
<v Speaker 2>Really? I don't know what he was doing. The TV
<v Speaker 2>was on mute, and oh, I know what it is.
<v Speaker 2>I have the answer.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, they were doing nineties icons week or something. I
<v Speaker 1>saw a commercial for this. There was like there might
<v Speaker 1>have been an actor from Designing Women on this show.
<v Speaker 1>Even there was a whole bunch of like nineties TV
<v Speaker 1>stars and it was like nineties superstars and it was
<v Speaker 1>all like the second or third build actor from a
<v Speaker 1>ninety sitcom.
<v Speaker 3>It was great because like one of the aunts from
<v Speaker 3>the Sabrina the Teenage Witch sitcom is there.
<v Speaker 2>That's yeah, she's flashing in my head the air from
<v Speaker 2>Teenage Witch. That's thank you, Crip. I'm here for you, brother,
<v Speaker 2>I got you on TV watching needs.
<v Speaker 3>But you know, I'm sad to see a bunch of
<v Speaker 3>folks lose their job, especially in production, because production is
<v Speaker 3>just similar to the games industry, just so up and
<v Speaker 3>down and volatile. And I think when people have like
<v Speaker 3>steady income and steady gigs and are comfortable, they can
<v Speaker 3>and they then have the leeway and the runway to
<v Speaker 3>tell stories or make weird stuff.
<v Speaker 2>Yep, you know, And I said, why not figure out
<v Speaker 2>like social and stuff like that.
<v Speaker 1>A big part of this shift also is apparently doing
<v Speaker 1>more stuff on YouTube, So maybe that game show stuff
<v Speaker 1>does sort of re emerge there. Man, game shows I
<v Speaker 1>think would do awesome on YouTube if they could really
<v Speaker 1>make that format makes sense.
<v Speaker 3>Sony here, Hey, you know you're listening right now. Just
<v Speaker 3>give Giant bomb the back and damn you got this,
<v Speaker 3>Dan Reicher a gigantic blank check and uh to just
<v Speaker 3>make a bunch of game shows. Will will be will
<v Speaker 3>collectively be your mister beast. We are mister beast, and
<v Speaker 3>then we will will rain in a new golden renaissance
<v Speaker 3>era of game shows.
<v Speaker 2>It'll be beautiful, It'll be be a utopia. Everybody.
<v Speaker 3>Imagine Mike Minatti hosting a game show, and then he's
<v Speaker 3>giving a little bit of playful guff to the contestants.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, Oh, he's just kind of a little cranky
<v Speaker 2>at the contestant.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, it's like, you know, when they get something wrong,
<v Speaker 3>it's like, Wow, that's not actually.
<v Speaker 2>What it is. You know. Imagine Bomberman wasn't a Saturn.
<v Speaker 3>Bomberman me hosting a family feud adjacent thing, and I'm
<v Speaker 3>going down the list of the family members and I'm
<v Speaker 3>just giving everyone a little smooch.
<v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, you're gonna be our problematic host and sweet,
<v Speaker 1>oh man, sweet, It's just like the seventies game shows
<v Speaker 1>all over again.
<v Speaker 2>When Jan's on the show.
<v Speaker 1>Everybody, Uh, all right, let's keep Let's hit these last
<v Speaker 1>two stories. Take two Interactive reportedly lays off AI team
<v Speaker 1>yay from Sophie mcafoy Games Industry dop is. Take two
<v Speaker 1>Interactive is reportedly eliminate eliminated its entire AI team as
<v Speaker 1>part of restructuring. The Company's former head of AI, Luke Dickens,
<v Speaker 1>shared on LinkedIn that his time with the parent company
<v Speaker 1>of Rockstar and Zinga had had ended. We've been developing
<v Speaker 1>cutting edge technology to support game development now for seven years,
<v Speaker 1>wrote Dicken. These folks know how to match innovation and
<v Speaker 1>novel problem solving approaches with strong product design shops. It's
<v Speaker 1>creat some systems that empower people throughout the development workflow.
<v Speaker 1>Former senior director of AI development Jason Leon added over
<v Speaker 1>the past six years, first leading Zinga's game services division
<v Speaker 1>in Central Tech, then leading you know, blah blah blah, basically,
<v Speaker 1>they're they're moving on from these positions because it sounds
<v Speaker 1>like Take two is no longer interested in this sort
<v Speaker 1>of development. They're like, hey, we don't want to have
<v Speaker 1>an AI team anymore. Straus Zelnick has been a little
<v Speaker 1>bit out there talking down AI. I think a big
<v Speaker 1>part of that is he sees how excitement for AI
<v Speaker 1>eroodes excitement for Take two stock because investors are stupid
<v Speaker 1>and like, hey, well, obviously we don't need Take two
<v Speaker 1>in Rockstar anymore to make the grand theft out of sixes.
<v Speaker 2>We're gonna be able to do that without them, And
<v Speaker 2>obviously that's insane.
<v Speaker 1>But I think every time that these big companies embrace AI,
<v Speaker 1>that's what investors here. So I think he's trying to
<v Speaker 1>be a little bit more standoffish and at the same
<v Speaker 1>time He's also mentioned in the past that they are
<v Speaker 1>looking at using jin Ai in other ways and and
<v Speaker 1>AI tools, especially for development. So I don't know if
<v Speaker 1>he's really done with it, but this is definitely them
<v Speaker 1>being like, we're not embracing this. Do you think that
<v Speaker 1>this is something we're going to see more of? More
<v Speaker 1>of these companies be like, hey, we tested this stuff
<v Speaker 1>out and it wasn't It wasn't all we dreamed it
<v Speaker 1>to be.
<v Speaker 2>I hope, So I hope so grub.
<v Speaker 3>This is slightly heartening to see, But then you'll see
<v Speaker 3>like another gigantic media behemoth out there, like Disney still
<v Speaker 3>doubling down on you on using ai and continuing to
<v Speaker 3>invest in that. I hope it's more of an instance
<v Speaker 3>where Square gets into NFTs five years too late and
<v Speaker 3>that they realize like, oh, sorry, that was a waste
<v Speaker 3>of time and money.
<v Speaker 2>We fucked up. And I hope that is the case.
<v Speaker 3>But interesting to see take two just take this stance
<v Speaker 3>and just say like, hey, we're done with this, yep,
<v Speaker 3>absolutely all right.
<v Speaker 1>And then let's see Tomadacci life living the dream. It
<v Speaker 1>may have leaked online, so if you're worried about like
<v Speaker 1>a lot of those scenes are best if you experiencing
<v Speaker 1>me for yourself the first time. So people are trying
<v Speaker 1>to avoid spoilers. They might be out there people. Apparently
<v Speaker 1>we're finding copies just at Target, so it broke street
<v Speaker 1>thing that way.
<v Speaker 3>Okay, so I thought it's more nefarious ways other than
<v Speaker 3>just good old target breaking street day just.
<v Speaker 1>Showed up on a shelf and Target and someone bought
<v Speaker 1>like ten copies or something like that.
<v Speaker 2>It looks like neat, So yeah, have fun.
<v Speaker 1>And then finally, Happy Trails, Happy new adventures to Rebecca Valentine,
<v Speaker 1>who says she is leaving IGN, but she's not going far.
<v Speaker 2>She has a new gig.
<v Speaker 1>She's not announced it yet, though I will be watching
<v Speaker 1>with great anticipation.
<v Speaker 3>Rebecca Valentine is one of my favorite people in this industry.
<v Speaker 1>Same, she's great, she's nice, and yeah, like I said,
<v Speaker 1>happy trails and on your future endeavors all that stuff.
<v Speaker 1>IGN will be poorer without you, but hopefully they can
<v Speaker 1>continue a pretty hot streak of hiring awesome people like yourself. Yes,
<v Speaker 1>all right, that does it for the headlines. Jan Let's
<v Speaker 1>go ahead and get onto the poll question from monday.
<v Speaker 2>I have the results over here. Let me go ahead
<v Speaker 2>and refresh real quick.
<v Speaker 1>All right, So I wanted you guys to grade the
<v Speaker 1>Mario Galaxy movie. If you saw the Super Mario Galaxy movie,
<v Speaker 1>grade it. You know, their options were A, B, C,
<v Speaker 1>D or lower, and most people thirty eight percent gave
<v Speaker 1>it a B. Then the next most popular answer was
<v Speaker 1>twenty eight percent for C, than twenty two percent for
<v Speaker 1>D or lower, and twelve percent for A. So, you know,
<v Speaker 1>as I was expecting, kind of grades spread all across
<v Speaker 1>the spectrum here, but most people are like B, I'm
<v Speaker 1>pretty happy with it. That's and then you know, a
<v Speaker 1>little bit more in, a little bit more in C
<v Speaker 1>after that. But yeah, I think that's completely fair and
<v Speaker 1>not too surprising.
<v Speaker 3>Jan Yeah, and I the GB audience is a very specific,
<v Speaker 3>skewed audience that you know, I feel like our audience
<v Speaker 3>is very much into watching movies and also very much
<v Speaker 3>not into watching movies. Yeah, so seeing this B grade,
<v Speaker 3>I feel like this kind of echoes the general public sentiment.
<v Speaker 2>Of like, yeah, that was good, it was good. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I'm sorry.
<v Speaker 1>They did what it needed to do exactly. All right,
<v Speaker 1>that's the last poll question. We have a new poll question.
<v Speaker 1>I'm gonna I'm trying to figure out how to phrase this, like,
<v Speaker 1>do you wait to see if an indie game gets
<v Speaker 1>a physical version before purchasing it digitally?
<v Speaker 2>Maybe I's just just say more likely, Yeah, are you
<v Speaker 2>more likely to Yeah?
<v Speaker 1>Are you more likely to get an indie game if
<v Speaker 1>you know it has a physical version coming?
<v Speaker 2>Or something like that.
<v Speaker 1>We'll figure out the exact wording. Basically, we're just trying
<v Speaker 1>to see if physical moves the needle for you when
<v Speaker 1>it comes to these smaller indie games. Yeah, we'll get
<v Speaker 1>that question posted on YouTube dot com slash at Giant Bomb.
<v Speaker 1>If you go to the post tabs, you'll be able
<v Speaker 1>to find it there. Go ahead and get the we'll
<v Speaker 1>get the results. Talk about it on Game This Morning's
<v Speaker 1>here on Giant Bomb tomorrow. Speaking of Giant Bomb jam,
<v Speaker 1>we should have let's see, it's it's Wednesday.
<v Speaker 2>It's time.
<v Speaker 3>It's like Wednesday. That's right, it's blight time. Blink and
<v Speaker 3>you'll miss it. Baby, Dan Reich's not all We're shipping
<v Speaker 3>him back to space. Forget the Artemis two crew that
<v Speaker 3>also had a lovely little clip talking about naghbing a
<v Speaker 3>portion of the moon. Uh, folks, go check out the
<v Speaker 3>Carrol Clstronauts rule.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's good stuff.
<v Speaker 3>As for us are great. I thought for a second,
<v Speaker 3>why the fuck are we doing this? But you know what,
<v Speaker 3>astronauts are cool, yes, and inspiring. But after this, Greb,
<v Speaker 3>we're gonna need a little bit of a switch off time.
<v Speaker 3>Sean and I have dusted off. The gym is not
<v Speaker 3>completely open. Seawan and I will be checking Pokemon Champions,
<v Speaker 3>the VGC competitive Pokemon game. I haven't fired it up
<v Speaker 3>at all. I'm looking to go in super fresh and
<v Speaker 3>explore the offerings of it. Maybe we'll get the chance
<v Speaker 3>to build a team. We'll go it enter some battles.
<v Speaker 3>We shall see.
<v Speaker 1>I'm excited to watch that and plenty more happening on
<v Speaker 1>Giant Bond for the rest of the week. Everybody all
<v Speaker 1>that out of the way, though, I think what we
<v Speaker 1>got to do now is wrap up the show. Jan
<v Speaker 1>thank you so much for hanging out with me today
<v Speaker 1>and talking about video games.
<v Speaker 2>Man, I really appreciate it.
<v Speaker 3>Happy Sandwich Wednesdays.
<v Speaker 1>Happy Sandwich Wednesday to everybody who celebrates, Happy Sandwich Wins
<v Speaker 1>Day to everyone who doesn't. It's a good day one
<v Speaker 1>way or the other. Thank you all for watching. We
<v Speaker 1>really appreciate it. You're the best audience in gaming. Until
<v Speaker 1>next time, have a good one, take care of yourself
<v Speaker 1>and goodbye.
