The series opener is Christopher Sanchez against Merrill Kelly, Saturday is Jesus Zarto against Jacob de Gram, and Sunday is Zach Wheeler against Pactor Corbyn. It's clear that when they made the move for Bader that they decided that Justin Kaffer Crawford was not ready to be the everyday centerfielder for a championship caliber team, and so Baterter becomes that guy.

Marsh has been swinging the bat well, especially against against right handers. So if you're playing against alrighty, does Marsh? Do they go double platoon and left and center and Baiter does not play every day?

Speaker 1: Yeah, Marsh has been way better against righty's. Obviously, he's outperformed Kepler at the plate. He's been ops almost one hundred points higher against righty's than Max Kepler, like seven to ninety against six ninety against righty. So you can make a very good argument that Brandon Marsh should be the guy if if they would go with Baier in center field on an everyday basis, and.

Speaker 4: He's staying in a lineup right anywhere, and so Cassieano is locked down, and right you got beater and center supposedly, now who plays left field?

Speaker 4: That's a very difficult situation if in fact, you're gonna have better play every day in center field, which I think that that's what they want to do.

Speaker 4: They'll probably end up going with Nola and a six man rotation. I would think with the with what's going on with Suarez, his velocity is down, he needs to be managed a little bit.

Speaker 4: Man rotation and and give this, uh, this staff a little bit of a some ease, and I think they're gonna have enough depth now once the other pitchers come back, Robertson and Alvarado, they're gonna have enough depth, I think to be able to go with just seven bullbend guys because I think they'll they'll get.

Speaker 5: We've heard so much about the potential of a six man rotation. To me, it's a good time to do it as you manage Wheeler and Suarez. Rob has always been reluctant to go seven man bullpen. He likes the eight man bullpen. But I guess what, Taiwan could be a swingman. But you know, you're probably gonna have to manage Nola out of the gate as well. So it seems to me a good time for a six man rotation as these guys. You know, we've seen some frail fragility in this rotation lately. Ranger's got almost a five r or he's got a five VR, I think five plus the RA since the break. Wheelers got almost almost a five VRA.

Speaker 5: Lozardos after his first eleven starts, has been completely inconsistent. And you know they always talk about managing and budgeting and being aware of October. This was a good time to you know, get Aaron Nola back, get some innings from him. Also see what you got from him, because your your playoff rotation is going to be up in the air. Yeah, you know, Wheeler Sanchez, is Nola your number three? Does he come out of the gate and give you six really good weeks and you say, yes, he's our number three.

Speaker 1: Well, you know Nola. Yeah, I think a six man rotation makes a lot of sense. So Nola started on Wednesday in Lehigh Valley. He's probably got one you would think, just one more rehab start, and if that's the case, he could come back that final weekend in DC. I think either Saturday, Saturday or Sunday. I think they could maybe pick one of the two. So if he comes back, then yeah, I think you got to really kind of monitor Suarez and Wheeler. I mean, obviously like both of them are super super important, but if you don't if Wheeler's banged up and kind of kind of going into the postseason on fumes. That's that would be a very bad thing. So if you can manage him, that would be great. But I also agreet Jim, like you think about postseason rotation, I want to see what Aaron Nola can do. You got to give him some opportunities because you want to see, uh, what the postseason rotation is going to look like.

Speaker 1: There in terms of the bullpen with Alvarado and Robertson going back, you know who goes? I mean you have Alan Ron Hell will probably get be the first guy optioned. Uh, and then then it gets kind of interesting because you have Max Lazarre, who is kind of moved up the pecking order it seems to me anyway on the Rob Thompson trust trade and Jordan Romanos falling down. So if you're going to keep Taiwan Walker and do a six man rotation, or even if you say we're gonna go five man in, Taiwan's going to go into the bullpen when Alvarado comes back, Now you're looking at maybe Romano, You're looking at Joe Ross. You know, you I don't know who kind of who kind of goes there, so that that that becomes a little bit more of a difficult decision.

Speaker 4: So right, I mean, I don't know what the role that that Romano would have. I honestly don't know the that he would have. I don't think that they would let him go at this stage. If there's a roster crunch. The question is it may end up going, Okay, do we do we option Lazarre and keep all our assets or do we release Romano and keep Lazarre because he's outpitched him, right.

Speaker 1: And that's that's a consideration. I mean, right, Rubin, I mean you've been in that spot where you go like, why why in the world are these guys keeping player X? And then death come down and you would talk to us about it and say, well, I mean, you know, we need we we want to preserve our depth. We want to preserve our depth. And sometimes that is that is an issue. You know, if you can't you can option Lazar down there and you know, have have Jordan Romano pitch mop up situations the last month of the season.

Speaker 4: You know, it's not fair, it's not fair to the player, but it's fair and it's you know, sometimes you have to be selfish as an organization. Now, if you feel like Lazar's going to help you win games, I just don't know that with Alvarado, kirkring Strom and Robertson ahead of Duran, if Lazar's going to really be pitching in those leverage they got to find out if those other guys can leverage, you know, they got to find out if Robertson can really leverage right and pitch and pitching really important innings, which was the reason why they they signed him.

He's got an option or whether you want to renegotiate. There's a lot of reasons that. I mean, I agree he let people down, but you know what, he's paid his price.

But I'm gonna say, because I'm more concerned about this offense, with the way it's kind of struggled in the postseason the last two years, I'm gonna say I want to see a good, productive Alec Bohm back in the lineup and hitting fourth and providing protection for Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper. Usually I'm a rotation guy, but I'm going to say, Alec Bohm, I'm.

And that's why I think Alec Bohm is slightly more important a return. If he's Alec Bahm of you know, twenty twenty three and twenty twenty, you know, twenty twenty two, where he's driving in ninety seven runs or ninety eight runs or whatever it was, or in twenty three and twenty four, that's really important for him to step up and be that guy.

The only way that they would bring him to the big leagues if he was going to play every day and they felt that he could be their centerfielder or left fielder every day, and right now it seems to me that they're not prepared to do that, and you may not see him until later on. Painter, on the other hand, I do think is going to get a call up September at least, because I think they need to give him a taste of the major leagues, especially if they're considering throwing him in the bullpen during the course of the playoffs.

Well he's right now, Andrew Painter as eighty three in the third innings, So if that number was accurate one hundred and twenty, obviously that stuff changes a lot. He's about forty innings away from that, so is that enough to he's got maybe what eight starts seven eight starts left. If you go by five innings per start, five six start, do you think he would do you think they would throw him in the bullpen? Kind of interesting to think about what might go on there. I would still bring him up at some point just to give him a look.

And there was a picture on the on the front page of The Inquirer of Jimmy kind of pulling up and gearing up for Ryan to muckle him, and this huge smile, because Jimmy always does have that great smile. That picture just I can still see it in my mind's eye. It was awesome. And the other thing I used to love watching Jimmy play defense, how every ball he threw had plenty of juice on it, but it was always from the same arm slot. He was so consistent in his arm slot. That's why he hit the first basement in the chest every time. And that play where he'd go behind second base, spin and fire a strike to first base, which so it was so much It was so much fun to watch that guy play defense all elements of the game. I loved watching him play defensive. Probably way too many memories to uh to even get into right now, but those are a couple of them.
