Yeah, me too. We we have we ever talked before? Like
we actually we actually have because okay, no, it's it's it's very wholesome
the react videos that you do. One time, like years ago, you
reacted to one of my tiktoks to be stopped. Yeah. I saw the
title of the video because Ie intact Or said you're in a Woods video and
I was like, gonna go check. The title was like everyone must be
stopped, and I thought that I was going to get tracked and I Didner
you were so nice. Why would I do that? I don't know.
I don't remember exactly what I said, but I do remember that, Yeah,
my that was clickbait. I just I don't know. Every time I
look at like people reacting to TikTok stuff is always like these TikTokers must be
stopped. And I was like, let's make one for Nintendo and like there
were some like wacky people in there. No, I agree, some of
them had people still wilding. But I do remember when I made that video
and I put in Nintendo content in the TikTok you were one of the first
creators that came up with your cozy themed content, and I loved it.
It. I love it, and it also frustrates me because you are so
aesthetically pleasing with everything that you do online and your color palette and your organization,
and it drives me insane. And Kim can attest to this. It
drives me insane because I cannot be like that, and I so badly need
to learn. I don't. Hey, you know, however, we show
up. That's how we show up. You know, some of us can,
because I just I do spend so much time like that's that's the fun
part of it for me. It's anytime in aesthetics. But that's not fun
for you. I think it would be fun for me, but it's the
time thing. And also, like I don't know, I feel like because
I have ADHD, it wouldn't allow me to do that, but I almost
feel like you kind of need a certain level of it to even hyper focus
on You're sorry, Yeah, I guess mine just doesn't translate that with different
flavors of ADHD. You know, there's so much I like about the content
you create. I don't even know where to begin. You create YouTube content,
TikTok content, Instagram content. It's all very unique. You do a
lot of like lifestyle help and advice to all with like a really cozy vibe.

I know I'm asking a lot because you're not prepared. Also, I want
to say, okay, let's i'll do this first. Even like your like
Instagram story memories or whatever those are at the top that you've color coded them
in the palette of colors that you typically use in your content. Yeah,
like, I love it so much. I can't even I'm not on your
level. It's a special kind of crazy, I think. I think that's
it's a neat kind of crazy. Are there any any good tiktoks there that
or Instagram reels? We could highlight that any that you want us to show
while we're here. Well, that that one's some recent releases, the first
one, that first one, that first one. You do a lot of
cozy switch content, specifically, like yeah, April Cozy Games releasing my favorite
Botany manner you're exploring a beautiful English manner, and you're puzzling through how to
grow various plants that you come across next to stitch and adorable, and I
like how fast paced it is too, Like here it is if you get
it or don't, it's cozy. You build up your little sticker business.
This was really motivating for me when I found this too, because like,
I've been really struggling to figure out what kind of short form content mate,
and I saw you just like blast reviewing games. I'm like, I do
that in videos. Why don't I just do that on Tiktokactly when I look
at I don't know what I think. When I look at TikTok, I
just I see I see people dancing, and I'm like, one of my
first tiktoks, so I tried to dance. I'm like, I guess that's
what I do. I dance. That's fun. I didn't dance from an
old nineties Zelda commercial. Oh that's great. It was like, we don't
have to bring that up. I think we should maybe maybe we should know
Bob Bob puts that into what Enough videos as an easter and also while we're
cutting around and everything I do quickly. You weren't here last week, but
I do want to apologize for something that happened last week. Uh there was
a moment where things weren't being cut exactly how I wanted and I kind of
stressed out, and so I apologize how awkward that is. As a result,
I have let go of Ham, so he will no longer be working
with us. So that should hopefully rectify it and will never happen again from
this point on. He has fired. He is Oh did you not tell
him? I said, oh, okay, okay. Starting episode one hundred,
Ham will not be Hey Ham, He love you body God? How's
hn R hour? Was h and R human Resources? Isn't that like hr
HNR block? How's your taxes? Ah? Okay, we have so many
things on the dock of to talk about today. I also want you to
be able to talk about whatever you want to talk about. I know before
we started this, this is what we do every episode. We sit down,
we wait to go live, and then I yelled because we start talking
about something. I'm like, shut up. There was two things that I
yelled about. I'm trying to remember what they were. One we were upstairs
and I was like, let's talk about that in the app. And then
the other one I know was I started talking about how toxic the gaming space
can be, and you mentioned how different our audiences are. So I do
want to talk about that. Yeah, absolutely, I think that's so.
It's so interesting. It is interesting and I do want to talk about it.
But but because the title is switch related, let's dive into that first.
Otherwise people will yell at me because they're toxic. So how much of
this switch to leak stuff have you been following? Are you interested? You
care? You know what? I haven't been following it because I know I'm
just gonna get it anyway. I know, yeah, I know I'm gonna
buy it. I don't you know. That's how I was like with the
Switch and like that whole time, I was like, I'm just gonna get
it when I get it. But now that like my whole career is revolving
around it, I'm so much more invested in figuring out what it is and
talking about it. So what what is like the main difference? Is it
just like better process? So last week we talked about how all these leagues
came out about what is in it there's actually more leagues that just dropped I
think this morning that we can bring up. But before all these leaks and
these fakes and these things that that might not be true, there is something
that is hard solidified. We finally have Nintendo talking about the switch too.
Have you seen this now? So President fu Fukukawa, president of Nintendo,
made this tweet the other day. This is Nintendo at their best because they
don't reveal things conventionally. They'll just tweet out the biggest things. By the
way, we will make an announcement about the successor of the Nintendo Switch within
this physical year, physical physical year. You want to come read this for
me, to read everything for me. It will have been over nine years
since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March two thousand, fifteen
years. Hold on, hold on, I wasn't ready for that. I
know what. To make you feel a little better, it came out seven
years ago, seven and a half. So they announced it announced like the
NX and all of that. Remember the NX, It was like code named
like our next thing will be Nintendo NX and then yeah, so that's what
he's referring to. But yeah, I mean it was a decade ago that
we'll be holding a Nintendo Direct in June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for
the later half of twenty twenty four. But please be aware there will be
no mention the Nintendo Switched successor during that presentation. So that's two things here.
Yeah, he just confirmed a Nintendo Direct for June, which we never
know about directs until like the day before when they say, hey, there's
going to be one tomorrow. So now we know one's coming in June.
Also that it's going to be filled with games that are coming out in the
back half of twenty twenty four. Yeah, so we know there's stuff coming
you know what it is, and confirm and confirming the switch to which is
kind of given ye to be fair, but it is nice to finally have
them addressed. Like the first replay is from Scootish totally because you fo,
I know, I missed that little scamp used to be on this show.
People hated him. It's true, I loved him. I love the guy.
So how do you how do you process all that now that you read
that for the first time. I am very much a I don't think about
it until it happens I just I can't. I feel like there's too much.
Back when I first started doing gaming contact creation, I was like refreshing
things like trying to stay up today and trying to like be on top of
everything. And now I'm like when it comes, it comes, you know.
Yeah, well now you're like zen and cozy, relaxed, and because
I have my hands and my off White my favorite. But I am very
excited for it because I feel like we've just needed a little sound different.
Yeah, And I'm excited because I feel like that just means there's gonna be
a new wave of games. Yes, and the Animal Crossing fan in me,
I know, I know, I'm delusional, but I don't even get
kids started. You're thinking about that new Animal Crossing already, like a new
console you have to do you have to Yeah, yeah, well, I
mean Animal Crossing on Switch was like forty four million copies sold. Yeah,
there's no way they cannot they can't recreate that magic. But there's no way
they're not going to do one. They're not taking the opportunity to make a
long for sure. Now I don't want to go on a tangent here,
but how upset were you that they didn't do any kind of DC past the
little island animal design thing. I think I was. I was sad at
first. I was a little disappointed, but ultimately I feel like I understood
it, Like there just wasn't much else they could do, Like what else
can they do? What can they keep adding? You know, I don't
know. I don't know. I can't tell you that because it's my first
animal Crossing. I just know that I played it a lot and then felt
like I couldn't play anymore. Same But I mean, like Kim complains a
lot about that same thing and played the game for twelve hundred hours, So
what other game can you play for twelve hundred hours? It's just true.
Yeah, Study Valley, Now, that's a game with content. That's a
game just added a ton more content and it never gets Like even without adding
new content, you can still go back and play, replay, replay,
Yeah, Crossing not so much. You can't really do that, No,
And also the call op nature of Stardo ads like because you you could play
the through the whole game, but then you could pick someone else and they're
like, I'm playing this with you now, yeah, because like maybe they
like to fish and you like crying, but maybe someone else likes to decorate
and then you're like, okay, well I'm gonna pick up the slag here.
This is the last boyfriend and I decided that we would start a farm
together and he would be my egg man. Egg man, Yeah, he
would. He would stay at home with the chickens and getting eggs for me,
and we would make all the mayonnaise together while I while I was out,
while I was out, uh, romancing and doing the minds. That's
that's lovely, yeah, just making mayonnaise together. So without going through all
the leaks of the specs of the terra flops of what we talked about last
week, there is a new leak. I don't know if I managed to
put it in the dock because I saw it this morning when I was in
bed getting ready to come in today. But I did put it in the
discord. It's the Centro Leaks tweet. It's sure, I put it in
the discord. We have more, We have more from a manufacturer. This
is what happens all the time with these things. By the way, the
Nintendo highest manufacturing plants to make their consoles of course. Okay, so like
there's a plant that makes the screens for Nintendo, which is how we found
out early they were making an O lead model because it leaked someone at the
manufacturer. It's like, oh, we got an order from Nintendo and it's
far an O lead screen. Let's put that out there. But do you
like they know that's going to happen, and it's kind of part of the
I guess there's nothing you can do. Yeah, like Nintendo tries or hard
to keep things close to their chest, but as soon as anything involves an
outside source. This came over and then I switched to new Leaks. It
appears information from manufacturing is starting to leak out. Now I would like to
believe this. And this guy says in this I'm gonna read it. I'm
going to skip down to the next thing. He says trustworthy weight rating.
Trustworthiness rating nine out of ten, So he's rating this as trustworthy out of
ten. Information comes from official sources that are tracking shipments happening between components.
I don't care scroll back ups. Yeah, So here's what it is.
Twelve gigabytes of RAM to six gigabyte seven five hundred mts lp D d RS
modules. Now we all know what that is I'll let you explain it.
Yeah, so we'll say it at the same time. Yeah, on three
and it's good. I have no idea what any of that means. Someone
did point out in replies down below that the Xbox Series S, which is
the current thing. Is that for Xbox the little it's the little It's this,
it's the white It's the little white guy. That is a current gen
system technically that only has ten gigabytes. Oh and that can't run Balder's Gate
multiple I have not learned. Yes, I had to return. It was
a disaster. Yeah, way you learned the hard way. Yeah, because
I was like, oh, I was playing babers Gate on PC. I
was like, this is so fun. I'm gonna play this with my boyfriend
and I downloaded on Xbox. Yeah, series series is useless. Of how
One of these replies is, I know nothing about TEXBECS. What does this
mean? In more basic terms? Seven, that's all I need to know.
I kind of hope it's more than that. I feel like, yeah,
yeah, true, uh you want to forty six goodbytes of uf S
three point one internal storage. I saw. I think Jeff Grubb, who's
a friend and fan of the show said that that is kind of like an
ENVM light, Like it's really fast storage so games will load quicker kind of
kind of thing. And it seems like both the console will include a built
in microphone and the controllers might have a built in microphone too. Okay,
so that's everything from the central leaks. The built in microphone is interesting.
I don't know if I cut this out of my prediction video I just made,
but I did say it would be interesting if like the console has all
these things you could attach, Yeah, and one's a microphone, yeah,
because you wouldn't need to always have it, But what if you could attach
it. But if it's built in, I was trying to think, like,
what is the purpose of that? Why would you need a microphone?
And my first thought beyond new gimmicky things, is if they are trying to
find a way to replicate DS and three DS, I was just gonna say,
Nintenda, you would need a microphone because so many of those games used
a microphone. Cooking Mama blowing on the soup and Cooking Mama was like,
it just such a core memory for me. It's time. Yeah, it's
the same with Zelda. I mean, I hate Zelda Phantom Outglass, but
there were many like puzzles, like torches. It's like you have to blow
out the torch yet to actually blow it out. So if they were finding
a way to emulate those games on the next thing, you wouldn't need a
microphone. I can't think of any other reason to add in a microphone in
twenty twenty five. Yeah, uh yeah, I think it did because I
think it was planned to be able to do like calls on it, because
there was a camera on it and a microphone, and I think you could
FaceTime. Was like a plan that never happened. Interesting. Yeah, I
think we're all forgetting about the main purpose that it probably has, which is
donkey konga. Yeah. Maybe, I mean, like the PlayStation five controller
has a microphone. Oh maybe it's just for like online gaming. Maybe because
that's that's what you use that for often. I'm holding I'm holding out hope
because maybe they'll bring they'll somehow bring some of the DS library to the what
is it, that's what everybody wants? I mean I was saying, imagine,
right, you have two switches, and you can attach one of the
screens to the other one and make a DS or like your phone. You
could do a phone. I had the same thought. Come on, West
are smart, Let's just let's run Nintendo. I know we should. We
should run Xbox because someone needs Helpwaver there. Yeah, yeah, I mean
that's that's Nintendo officially confirming that we'll we will hear about this thing, which
isn't surprising in general, but also with all the leagues coming out, that's
when it gets into manufacturing like that. I think the Switch light. We
started to hear all these rumors that a new Switch console was coming, and
then manufacturing details were leaking, and literally like two or three months after that,
they revealed the switch So we might be closer to that than you think.
Are you hoping to get any kind of games at the Direct in June?
Any kind of cozy games you want to see come to Switch? I
want cozy games that are not farming simps. Yes, that's all I'm asking
for. Can I be honest too? We already have Stardo, We have
started. It's the best one. We peaked. We can call it there.
Yeah yeah. Anything else is like a remix of it, or like
we played Faith Farm and like that was did you play faith Yeah? It
was decent I liked it, but all of its elements that tried to do
weren't as good as all of the elements in the games it borrowed from,
exactly like Star like start yeah in the original Harvest months. Are you looking
well? You know what? We would be nice to see haunted Chocolate two?
Yes? True, yeah, but I feel like we're not going to
Yeah, maybe not. Eric's been at work with that thing. I feel
like he's not been on a first name basis with Star do man first name
basis of just me like knowing too much about that man? I just know
concerned it, but I didn't know his name was Eric. Yeah. At
the concert, he like came out, guys on Eric and think so much
and I almost cried. Did he play anything? No, that'd be cool
though he just sits down. Did he see you in the front roaw and
go aesthetics in my dreams may be? Yeah, sounds like I gave a
little crush on Eric. Such a weird thing to say. You would get
that from we did this a little bit with List, But I would love
to hear your definition of what a cozy game it is. M Yeah,
that would yeah, Because Liz had a whole thing where like I got in
trouble for saying that I found playing Breath of the Wild cozy at times.
Yeah, it drives me up a wall. The fact that there's even this
much like discourse about it. Yeah, yeah, there's so much, especially
on TikTok, there's a lot on tech. What's the discourse? The discourse
is like just oh, actually, these three qualities make a cozy game,
like push Glass. It's like, what did mister cozy game tell you that?
Like who told you that? Wait? We we just kind of started
cozy gaming. Like, okay, wholesome, casual cozy games have always existed,
there just wasn't a title for it. But like the cozy gaming genre
and cozy gamer as a title was started very community based, like it was
a community based thing fairly recently. Fairly yeah, very recently. And so
no one was like, none of us were like these are the things that
make a game cozy. We were just like these these look like because of
games? So do these these make me feel cozy? So it just drives
me a little crazy when people kind of try to either set a definition or
or just like police other people's definition. It's like, we know there are
some things that are certainly not cozy games, you know, like Resident Evil,
okay, the Last of Us. Yeah, sure, you know,
if you feel cozy playing those, that's on you. But that's not a
cozy game. I didn't tell you to feel that way, but it's not.
It's not a cuzy game. And we can all agree on that.
But then to like nitpick and like, no, this thing makes it that
drives me crazy. I'm very much like a it's a Noah when you see
it type of thing. And I think most people understand that and we can
just leave it at that. Yeah, I think I'm gonna again borrow from
Lisz, who's definitely watching right now, by the way, because she was
so excited for you to come. Yeah, I said to her. I
was like, there are parts in like Breath of the Wild where I do
feel cozy, like riding around or stuff like that, and she's like,
yeah, that's just you enjoying the game. Yeah, yeah, true,
Like, yeah, I could see I have friends who are like their houses
are draped in skulls and and like just it looks like Halloween in their house
all the time, and I know they sit there playing Resident Evil again and
again, and it makes them feel cozy, and that's like they're relaxing time.
Yeah, you can feel cozy playing any game, like games can make
you feel cozy, but a cozy game is specifically, it's a specific thing.
It's a specific type and you do kind of know it when you see
it, exactly know when you see it. And also I'm not gonna just
go to bat arguing about like the subset of cozy games, what is and
isn't within that subset, Like I some people like starting I would like to
see you because you do every month you do like these April cozy games.
I'd like to see just like five games and you do like three or four
and they're like, you know, kitt and scratch, this one, you
do this, and the next one's remake in this game Chill Zoebies, and
then you just do the last one as a cozy game. Again, I've
definitely recommended like Little Misfortune and things like that where you could see that like
to me, it's kind of cozy, but it is absolutely not cozy at
all. Yeah, I could see, but yeah, it's always funny because
people are like, that's not cozy. What is your favorite cozy game?
Is it? Starter? It's starting for sure, like no competition. What
about like an off the wool one that people like don't only ever think about?
Probably a short hike. Oh I love that one, Yeah, I
mean crazy. Yeah. The sad thing is it's literally a short hike.
It's only like an hour or two long. Yeah. Yeah, so good
because or they made anything else since that game. Actually, yeah, that
game was. That game was great. I recommended that in an e shot
video. Those ones are tough to recommend to people because like, the game's
great and it's like it sticks with you and it's so worth everything I paid.
But I am you know, I'm just probably like ten bucks. Yeah,
but I am there saying like, hey, spend your ten dollars on
this hour long experience. It's a hard sell even at ten bucks. There's
another game called Loan Sales. If you've heard of that. It's it's you
just you pilot a ship and you go from the left side of the screen
to the right, and you go on this whole journey and this side scrolling
adventure and you kind of just kind of keep the ship alive. You're when
you're moving. It's kind of cozy, not really, but it's like twenty
bucks and you can sit there and knock it out in like two hours.
But like you put on headphone us and the sound of the ocean and everything,
and like the gameplay, it's like I was glued to it, and
I'm like, that's an experience that I'm glad I had. But when you
try and sell that to something, yeah, yeah, because gets your father
these days, like on Steam or like anything like that. Shoot, Simms
is like free now, And that's tell Kim, Simms is free. Yeah,
whats on it? There's like there's like the cups listening. Yeah,
there's like a thousand DC packs that you've downloaded, right, I pay for
them. I just buy they're on sale. Oh well, never mind,
sorry, I just I guess I just assumed them at this point because you
have to download them onto the e A thing. Yeah, have a code,
you know what? I assumed? Did you not pirate them at some
point? No, that was back with SIMS three where you just had to
have a key gen and you could just get them that way. You know,
I assumed because I used to pirate them. I used to the SIMS
and all of the expansion packs, and I just when I see you playing
it when I see you playing it, I just assumed that because I'm like,
no shot. She spent twenty bucks on each, and then there's like
websites that will have them on sale and so smart, yeah, so smart.

it's interesting that in the gaming space there seems to be a lot of unhappy
people you would like to you know, argue and whatnot. Yes, yeah,
we did have to ban someone from this live chat before we even began
the episodes. Great story, yes, But then there's there's the little niches
and in my specific niche people are the opposite of that and just very sweet,
very kind, very supportive. Obviously, there's that liars. But it's
interesting to me that we can have such different experiences and like our community can
have such different effects on us just based on that. Yeah, I mean
crazy, stop me if I get anything wrong in this, but I see
your community. You're in this cozy game, very sweet, reliable, esthetic
community. It just has like this positive vibe and you can kind of just
tell the kind of people that attracts just based on like the vibes of like
niceness, but also like just the gamers that you attract. The people that
are playing these cozy games, right, they don't they don't really care about
like what's going on in the gaming space. They just want to sit down
and relax and like bomb some things or like make the sims woohoo or whatever,
you know. Like it's it's very relaxed. But then over on this
side of the fence, and let's talk about the podcast specifically. Now,
I never used to be this way as much, but now I'm really trying
to stay up to date and I'm trying to share information and I'm trying to
cover all these topics and I don't know everything, and I'm just kind of
like learning as it as it, learning about it as it comes into sometimes
I get things wrong, or sometimes I misspeak, or sometimes I yell at
hamp and and now I'm not included obviously. But then the comments will get
nasty and they'll be like, I see spreading misinformation a lot. That's interesting.
We had a situation recently I told you about where I said that like,
the games are never on the discs anymore, which I then had a
follow up conversation about how I'm not technically wrong, but as far as like,
is their data on the disc at all at launch? Yes, there
is. Yeah, but people called me on it, and it blew up
on Twitter with people saying that I was spreading misinformation, and then it dives
into this whole thing of people saying, oh, he's always spreading misinformation or
that's wood for you, or like you know, and then Spawn, who
was our guest that episode, felt like he had to correct it and apologize
for it. I'm like, no, it's just data on a disc,
Like, who cares? Why are we here? You know, why am
I? Why am I not just playing Stardo value on TikTok? You know,
Like it's yeah, it can definitely get toxic, and the podcast side
of it in general is definitely wearing me down just with comments because on YouTube,
with my videos, it's almost never like that. That's so interesting that
there's I didn't realize there was kind of a difference. Well, I think
it's my content, Like I make like ten shop games worth buying. What
are you going to comment on? You know, I've just played and enjoyed
ten games. But here I'm like, I'm sharing my opinions. How dare
you? I know? And then I and then I get yelled at for
having opinions, but then I get yelled at for not sticking to my opinions.
When I get yelled at for my opinions, and I'm just a man.
I'm just a guy, you know. I'm just trying to make people
happy. I'm just trying to give people a good time. See that's why.
And maybe this is a sign short firm content. There's only so much
you can say, and there's so much I can get wrong. There is
so much misinformation I can spread such a little time, you know, And
so I feel like you definitely on shore, you get less of that and
more of just like thanks for putting this list together, you know, Yeah,
do you get like on shorts and tiktoks. When I look at them,
they're always such random throwaway comments. Yeah, do you get that a
lot sometimes? Yeah? I think the gaming ones tend to be a bit
more engaged because it's people that are just excited to talk about games. Yeah,
sometimes I do get some random ones. Sure, So what kind of
like, so your tiktoks do really well, specifically your tiktoks, do you
not feel No? No, that was yeah, just like thank you.
No, I mean I'm very very envious of that. If envious is the
one where like I'm happy for you or is it jealous? I don't know,
I'm happy for you. I'm envious I feel because yeah, your tiktoks
get thousands, thousands of views and sometimes millions. What do I do?
What can I do? How can I do? I recently made a gold
switch and I put that as a TikTok and it got like fifty views.
What am I doing wrong? It's like the it's the attention grabby, the
like attention spans are are goldfish and so YouTube. You know, we do
these kind of long intros and like, hey, this is what I'm going
to talk about, and then we talk about it and then there's a conclusion
on TikTok. It's like here's the thing and here's why you should care about
it, and then that's it and it's like two seconds and you know,
so I think it's like pacing and then yeah, more cooking. But yeah,
so cooking ones. I see those, and this is what the cooking
people do. They do some crazy thing and they show it to you right
at the there's crazy thing, but they show it for like a second that
it's gone, and then they stop making it and then to watch the whole
thing and then show it and then it's a thing which is like a huge
trend, like yeah, yeah, I've seen this ten seconds ago. And
then I think it's also a lot of actually providing value. That's that's something
that took me a while to get on. Not saying that like someone who
doesn't do all first no, but I used to kind of dilly dally and
like share a lot of my opinions and da da da, and then I
realized the most valuable thing to viewers is just simply providing like raw information to
just give them what they Yeah, and so I was like I need to
take myself out of it a little bit. More and just kind of like
provide raw information. See that's where I think I would struggle because I am
a I was gonna say, I'm a camera hole. As I'm staring at
myself in the mod I just brain. Yeah. No, I think I
have a hot time taking myself out of my content because I've always like interjected
myself in my content so much. But you're right, I think for a
short form, yeah, it's like a balance because then there's others while I'll
do you know, a little bit more of a my thoughts are in it
and it's a longer review and I'm trying to be funny and things like that,
But that's just like a separate Do you ever like do a like a
here of five games coming a thing whatever? And then at the end be
like and if you want more, I have a YouTube channel. I actually
don't. I probably should more, But so I always feel like that to
people is like when they're on a platform that seems to be like a negative,
it's like they are a YouTuber. Yeah maybe, And maybe that's why
I don't do it, because it feels a little bit like what girl like,
you know, But now I feel like sometimes it works sometimes it does.
What will you do convinced that that TikTok is just not pushing stuff up
where you mentioned to go to another platform? True, yeah, that's a
thing everywhere and it's so frustrating. So on YouTube you can do community posts.
And if you community post like hey, I'm going live on Twitch,
here's the link. You put the link in the community for I've noticed that
like, it won't get anything, not a single like nobody will see it.
So what I do is I say, hey, going live on T
space W space, I space T and then I'll do link below, and
then in the link below, I'll write it out, but I'll make it
not a hyperlink so that people that like I can't click it, they have
to type it in. But it's the only way that the post will get
traction if you don't link off to another site. I'm pretty sure even link
below on Twitter is like yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if like link below
flags too. I know people that don't put anything any links in their description.
Nothing to Instagram, Twitter, other social media is because anything that someone
might click on and take them away from the video can hurt the video.
That's so crazy. That's the thing I hate sometimes about being I love being
a creator, It's my favorite thing ever, but some like the thing I
hate is having to do a little song and dance for the algorithm, little
mister algae, you know, like, oh, what do you want?
What do you want today? Like, yeah, I hate it. I
hate it, And just like I just want to share the things I love
with people or information, you know people. I think about that all the
time. I think about like the kind of content I have ideas for videos
I would love to make. Like I just played through See Thieves, the
Monkey Island doc, and the whole time I was playing it, it was
give me so much nostalgia for a Monkey Island. It's one of my favorite
series, and I'm like, man, I would love to do a retrospective
on every Monkey Island where I just go through and I just do a full
review and I just go someone deep into detail. But I know nobody would
watch it, so when I actually sit down, I would watch it.
Get one view nobody. I know nobody is extreme, but my view my
viewers. Yeah, if I uploaded that, the YouTube analytics will say less
people are interested than normal, which means it won't get shed out and then
it'll die. I'm almost better off making a new channel yeah for completely fresh
and doing something like that, because the algorithm might actually pick up on it
then other than it it down. So instead, when I sit down and
think of content to make, I'm like, oh, man, that Monkey
Island video would be really fun. That I'd be really passionate and that'd be
really great. So what's happening was switch yeah, which is such a it.
That is why I distanced myself from a lot of gaming content on my
long form stuff because it made me resent it. I resented doing that kind
of content because it made me resent gaming, which I don't know if you
can relate to that a little bit, but like, oh my god,
like trying to balance trying all these games for a video and then like spending
all this time on it and then not being able to have kind of like
that personal gaming time for yourself. I resented it. And so that's why
I moved away from that a little bit. And it's definitely that like do
you what do you do? You want to do the things that are like
making you successful or do you want to do the things that are actually fun
for you? It's such a hard balance. As a creator. Yeah,
all of this, it bears. I don't even know where to go from
me because this could be a I went through like five different places of like
where do I go next? But all of those lead down paths that aren't
fun. Yeah. Well, there's also a lot of like if you want
to do like deep dive stuff. There's a lot of YouTube channels now that
are just like things to watch while you sleep. Like Jordan Frings just made
like a like like a sleep channel, right, they sleep them ups.
I've always thought about branding is like cook him ups game and like doing Yeah,
I could be the new map path. He's gone. Now he's gone.
He died. Come on, yeah, I know him to Dan?
Yeah, actually he texted me with something that he wanted me to ask,
and it actually reminded me of something else that I'm not going to ask this
yet. Uh so, Well, the other thing when we were upstairs that
I wanted to talk about is Nintendo flew you to Japan for three days.
Yeah? Why, I actually okay, I actually I think illegally, and
that's so annoying to say. I actually think legally. Can't talk about it?
Was I even allowed to say that much? No, that's fine,
that's fine. But there was like legal stuff that came up, you know
Nintendo. Yeah, there's legal stuff that came out after and they're like,
oh, actually have to take all this stuff down. Actually, can you
tell me later? Yes? Yeah, okay, cool, never mind that.
Then I want to instead ask you do you have a nice time?
I had so much fun? Okay, it was lovely. And then Nintendod
was great, and they there was for his name though, but there was
a guy on the Nintendo team who had lived in Japan. It was so
cool. Yeah, and so he just like shut us around and took us
off. It was cool. And a lot of the creators on the trip
were not gaming creators, like I was the only gaming creator. They were
all kind of just like, so, how big was the personalities? How
big was that the museum? Did you go to the head quarters? I
was just trying to make a stat because I know they just finished the museum
in I wish it was not a museum. But I took the store that
was you got to do what the Nintendo store, which one there's a couple
tokyo. Yeah that now is down when you want Yeah, no I haven't.
I keep keep saying this, like the we've been to the one in
Tokyo, and we went to the one in Occa. We haven't been one
to Kyoto yet. But the attended store in New York I like, really
weird. I think Tokyo, I agree, But the one in Tokyo in
the mall, Yeah, this one's like its own store with a little baby
museum. I don't know when you leave. I don't have time. When
you leave, going okay, I'll come back when do you leave? Like
tonight? It is sick, But I will say right now they're doing renovations
or they're like beginning renovations. They like tweeted it out recently. And we
went there. No, No, we went there like last week or something.

I drove Kevin, Bob and Bingle to the New York store and it was
bad. They like stripped out. They had like this whole Princess Pete showtime
thing. It'll look at cinema in there. It was all gone and there
was like empty blank spaces everywhere. So if they're doing renovations, on top
of that, it's probably not a good time to go right now anyway,
Well perfect, I didn't even from five to seven until oh that's literally today.

But Nintendo Museum is now complete scheduled to open in the fourth which that is

Kim and I are going to Australia for two weeks, so there isn't

like giant ones you can like hold. Yeah, so we're all going at

It's actually a great conversation I wanted to have with you, and I forgot
I noticed you did a sponsored video, yes, for Nintendo for the recollection
memory game thing. Yeah, so that's two now sponsorship deals with Nintendo.
Yeah, must be nice. What there it is? Yeah, so I
want to ask a couple of things here, what did what did this look
like? Was it Golan? Is that still a thing? It was at
the time now it's different, it's a different agency. At the time,
this was like a month ago. Yeah, I think they switched right and
yeah, yeah, can we get can you hear Kim? Could you pass
the mic? Sure? Yeah, so I think it was Golan. We've
worked with them on a few different occasions. Now if we worked with them
maybe five or six times, strange enough, that's usually their London office that'll
reach out, Yes, But Nintendo was usually really great. They're lovely,
Yeah, very lots. I've never worked with the Brown was so much legal
though, like, yeah, a contracts are so intense, but creatively they
really kind of just let you do what you want to do, which is
really nice. I've worked as well on the side. They're surprisingly yeah,
Like do you have you ever had contact with Goal in America? Yes?
Okay, you worked like through sponsors with them or oh really, okay,
we can we can talk more about that people. We'll talk to your people.
Well they want I know that they don't want anything to do with men,
which is fine. Well that's the whole thing that these people are very
aware. Did you not okay a morning thing? Because I don't want to
make it about me, but here's my story. It is your it is
my podcast. But people hate when I make it about me. Actually,
that's that's been better since it's been my podcast. You play that's gonna vim
in you know episode one on two. You're just pushing on. I used
to be part of the Nintendo Ambassador program through Goldan. I was with them
from like early like we u uh era, maybe just at the end we
you era leading into Switch. They really helped me for like a couple of
years. They sent me like the new DSXL, like the console before it
came out, with a couple of games like Mitopia before it came out that
was sick. And then right after that they just pulled the ripcord on like
sending things to any creator because a game leaked not by me. But then
for the next like two years it was like ghost like I didn't hear anything
from them, and then randomly. They gave me Minecraft Dungeons a day after
it came out as a code, and I was like cool, thanks,
And then like a week or two after that, they sent me an email
saying, hey, we don't think you're a good fit for the program anymore.
We need people that are passionate about Nintendo, so we're going to go
our separate ways, but we'll still send you codes if you want. Yeah,
so I made They were like, please remove all Nintendo Ambassador branding from
your content and channel. So I was like, okay, that's a video.
So I made a video called a Little Dramatic Nintendo fired Me, and
I uploaded that during COVID when people were just looking for things. Yeah,
and it went trending number one on YouTube in like the first twenty four hours.
And then I made a follow up when I got another email from them
a couple of days later. And that was like a moment in my career
that like I was already kind of like going up with Switch stuff, and
that was like a moment where like I got a lot of eyes on me.
And after that second video went out, That makes sense because I think
that's when I found you, Like, not from that video. But around
that it was around that time Kim and I started doing the Etsy stuff.
When that second video went out, that's when the replies from them dried up
and they I couldn't get a reply from them again. And I don't think
they want anything to do with me. So yeah, so you know Kit
and Crista at all. No, so their content Nintendo content creators that used
to work at Nintendo. Then now they do their own podcast. Well,
Christa specifically ran the head of Golan when she was there. She was the
one that fired me. And we had them in here and we did a
Yeah, that was fun. That was a good episode. They'd come back
since two. We're all like besties now. I was texting them yesterday.
Well there's it's it's you never know, ever say never. You know,
Hey, if they want to do sponsors, that'd be awesome. The only
time anything Nintender has approached my door is on this podcast. Bob and I
we were given an offer to fly out and watch the Mario movie premiere in
LA and the only reason we got that is because it was through Universal,
not Nintendo, and it was I didn't go because, like Bob, Bob
was dealing with a medical issue at the time, so he couldn't go,
and Uh, I just didn't want to go. I just didn't want to
I just didn't want to go. I just didn't want to go. But
then me and Moto was there like everyone else that went and got photos with
him. I went to uh when they had the shoe reveal at the store,
yeah, and it was like the same thing. It was illumination that
oh yeah, so that's why yeah, which I was very funny, but
it was like very much like this is a fashion yes, yea, more
about the movie and the shoes, and it was interesting dying. But you
know, they've been changing their the way that they do partnerships because when back
in the day, you know, however, many years ago, when I
started doing contact creation, Nintenda wasn't doing Nintendo America wasn't doing like PR,
they weren't doing sponsorships, they weren't doing any of that. And then all
of a sudden it kicked up. They were doing a bunch of PR.
And then now I feel like they recently started doing paid partnership, especially with
the cozy gaming community. So yeah, the paid partnership thing took me by
surprise. I was like Nintendo's doing paid partnerships. When you said London,
that didn't surprise me because when I was in Canada for two years, I
switched over to Canada's Nintendo Ambassador program and they're so much better. They want
to they sent products, they were like super in touch too. I always
see the Australian creer like other countries. Yeah, they get a lot of
support in like London. Obviously I'm not surprised to hear that. But yeah,
America was like, yeah, I just got nothing when I when I
moved to America just dried up completely. I got nothing. But they're changed
before you. You know, if you lose the sponsorship and you want to
start a podcast, what did you say? I missed it the sponsorship and
wants to start a podcast? Are you trying to why? I don't get
it. I'm trying trying to steal the spotlight from you. Oh that's okay,
Yeah, that's okay. I don't need the spotlight. I'll stop my
own podcast, your back episode water one for that one? Okay. And
you're a lawyer, I was, well, I guess that's just smart people
don't usually play games. I'm being silly. Yeah, I guess I am.
I was gonna say it was, but I am still Yeah, so
tell me about that that. Yeah. Really, so you went to law
school obviously, I went to law school where at Okay, when when did
you graduate? Twenty twenty one? Twenty? Yeah, and then you practiced
for practice for one year? Ok yeah, and I was doing startup law.
I actually liked it. It was it was cool. You have that
vibe. You look like you could be on suits. Yeah, it could
be a characterI I've seen a little bit of it, and it makes no
sense because the corporate lawyers are doing like litigation and the litigation. Yeah,
but it's fun because he's I'm not a lawyer, but yeah, yeah,
it just doesn't all. It was fun, it was cool, but it
was not sustainable, especially really, Yeah, being a content creator was more
sustainable than being a lawyer in twenty twenty four. Yeah, like in terms
of mental health, well, in terms of everything, but oh you're actually
mental health. Yeah. Like they expect you to work like seventy to eighty
hours and your days like set a week. Okay, I know I wanted
to ask a week, but I wanted to say it in a funny way.
Wow, And it's just Yeah, it's like the whole buildable hours thing
insane. What does that mean that so you're getting a salary but they want
you to work crazy amounts anyway, Yeah, because they're billing to so they
want to just make sure that like you're making up the money that they're getting
a salary almost. So it's just an insane expectation and I couldn't see myself
doing that for that long. Oh yeah, so did the YouTube things start
happening in that time period and you will like screw it, let's switch to
this. Yeah. I started last year of law school and then I was
continuing content creation like all throughout studying for the bar and like starting my job
and stuff. Wow, it was honestly keeping me sane, like it was
And what were you doing at that point? Was it gaming related? I
was like streaming, I was doing tiktoks, I was doing YouTube, and
it truly was keeping me saying because I had this like other thing to focus
on that wasn't just all lost stuff. And yeah, then it just got
too much. It was like balancing to full time job, well almost over
two full time jobs because the legal stuff was like sevage sixty seventy plus and
then also content creation you know can be you know, I can just absolutely
relate the same situation with me. So I was waiting tables, oh my
gosh, and similar job, mentally, similar level of study went into it,
preparation, skill set required. I was working, yes, same at
least twenty hours a week. The mental toll, you know, it's the
mental toll. Yeah, so we both had it pretty rough. Now I'm
playing, but you know, I was working a lame job, and then
the content creation took off, and I was like, this is way more
satisfying than waiting tables, which might surprise you. So do you do you
do you any way regret going through all of that and learning all of that
and doing no, not at all, because you can't regret things in life.
And also you're so smart now, oh my gosh, my brains something.
I feel like two reasons though. One is I wouldn't be here without
going to law school. Like if I went straight into a job, I
wouldn't have had the time to kind of explore this content creation stuff because in
law school. Last year of law school is a scam and a joke,
and you don't do anything like truly you do not do anything the last year
of law school? Is it fun? At least that it's fun? Yes,
that is fun, and it was fun for me because I got to
start doing content creation exploring that true. So I wouldn't have been here if
not for having that little break kind of in the last year of law school
and then two having worked a corporate job and realizing how much work and discipline
and effort it takes has given me such perspective being a content creator, and
when times get tough, I'm like, girl, shut up, like you
want to go back there? I love that that is. That's a lot
of good perspective. Now for all the kids listening and for parents who have
kids that are listening. So do you would you recommend skipping school and education?
Yeah, and go straight into content creations. So at like what point
are we talking like no high school? Yeah? Yeah, honestly, let's
start a pre k Okay, yeah, I mean there's definitely like kid influences
and that's healthy, yeah, very healthy. Yeah. Being in the public
eye that young, I think is really good for the brain. Okay,
I mean I finished high school. That's why I'm dumb, and now I
do this. So it's pretty much the same. Yeah, I'm learning Japanese.
It's just whatever. I have a meeting with a guy every Wednesday at
five for an hour. I'm pretty much in university. We are at an
hour. Incredibly, we didn't get to any of the Xbox drama. We
do have a bonus episode where we can cover all of this. Yeah,
I want to at least talk about what happened quickly in the main though,
because even though this is a Nintendo non tendo show, I really passionately care
about Xbox because I growing up as a gamer, that Xbox three sixty era
was like peak for me. You know, that was my favorite console at
the time. I actually sold my Wii at the time to get an Xbox.
I was like making the jump because we at the time sucked like there
was nothing as a growing young man that wanted to play cool games and experiences,
there was nothing there. And then I remember the breaking point was all
of my friends got SmackDown Versus Raw like two thousand and six or whatever,
and they got it on Xbox. I got it on Wii. So they're
playing the game. They're like pressing the buttons and doing the wrestling and it's
how it is now me on we I'm there like tuning up the band with
a motion control and then kicking people like this, and it's all like cut
scenes, and I'm like, what am I doing with my life? So
I got an Xbox three sixty and then I was opened up to that area
of gaming and I found so many cool games. I was die hard.
My achievement score was directly tied into my personality and my worth as a human.
So seeing them get to this point now is so disheartening and so saddening
because they I know how many great ips they have, how many great games
we could have had. I don't know any of the teas. Okay,
well here's the tea, right, short and skinny. Just to catch you
up. Xbox this whole generation since the Xbox series X. They've put out
Halo Infinite, which was mid. They put out Starfield, which was mid.
They put out Red Full, which was horrible, and a couple of
indie experiences that did really well, like Hi Fi Rush, which was a
standout game and got a ton of awards. It's from a small team,
but arguably probably the best thing that Xbox put out and is world renowned and
received a lot of reward. So that's all Xbox has done up till this
point. Now they've let go a bunch of studios. The first one they
let go was the people that made that fun game I just talked about.
Yeah, so they let go of Tango Game Works, who made High Fire
Rush. They let go of R. Kane Austin who made Red Full,
which was the bad game they were talking about. But in their defense,
apparently they didn't want to make that game. Xbox kind of made them made
that game, and they said many times in the development, hey, can
we please stop making this game please? And then they got the game was
made, and then Xbox was like, oh that game sucks, You're fired.
And then Alpha Dog Studios, who I don't remember offhand what they made.
There is a an article a linked from all of this. Apparently there's
more Xbox closures that are supposed to be coming as well. Wasn't there something?
Wasn't there Wrestlings about them wanting to get out of the console game completely
and just becoming like a platform Yeah. So recently so they're a mess.
Recently they decided they would start taking their games, the ones that actually people
liked that were on Xbox the very few of them, and they would start
releasing them elsewhere. So Grounded recently came to Switch, so did Pentiment,
and see a Thieves just landed on PlayStation, so they're taking their games and
they're like, let's just sell them other places. Xboxes mantra really over this
whole generation has been we've tried nothing, and we're all out of ideas.
Like they don't really seem to know what they're doing. They've said multiple times
that exclusive games don't sell a console, so they can't be bothered making them,
and it's like, I don't understand where they get that logic from,

the hardware. They seem to be so confused about where they're at as a
company, Like they literally let go of Tango, the people that made Hi
Fi Rush, and then the next day one of the guys in Cho I
forget who he is exactly, And I'm also going to have to paraphrase the

I don't have to paraphrase the the the the next day, Matt Boody ahead
of Xbox game Studios. The day after letting go of Tango said, we
need smaller games that give us prestige and awards. It's like they don't they
don't know that, they don't know their own positions. They don't, I
don't. It's so they honestly need to fire everybody at Xbox and get a
whole new team and start again. I don't exept for Sarah Bond because she's
really cool and she just got started, and it's not okay, keep her
I don't know who that is. Keep her and higher Eric because I've heard
Eric is great. Okay. Yeah, anyway, we can dive more into
it in the bonus episode because we're at a time and I don't want to
go over too much time with you, but yeah, I mean there's a
there's a ton of training. It is very frustrating. It's also because Xbox
has been in the whole last generation. They were in a really bad place
where they weren't putting out games, and at the end of that generation,
they bought like twelve game studios because they were like, we're going to start
making games, So rather than make our own, we're going to buy all
these studios and we're going to fund them to make games. Yeah, and
now a lot of them haven't put games out yet, some of them have
and they're just starting to fire them. Yeah. It's literally we've been waiting
for games. We've been waiting for something to happen with these studios, and
the something that's happening is that being fired. Yeah, they're like, and
there's other things like after High Fire Rush came out last year in twenty twenty
three, Xbox visited their studio, took a big photo with everyone on the
team and said, we're going to invest a lot into High Fire Rush too.
I know, you know who's doing actual cool stuff with gaming right now?
N Inten Who. Yeah, but Netflix, we are yeah with the
because yes, I went to my TV the other day to watch shows and
it had games in Netflix and they bought Gosh, I'm gonna forget that the
studio that did Oxen Free. Yeah, I can't remember either, but yes,
nights Something Night School. Yeah that sounds right, Okay, let's say
it's that. Yeah, it makes use good. But yeah, they like
they are putting a lot of funding into that and really wanting to get stuff
onto the Netflix platform, which I think is so I don't know. It's
interesting. So like the games are that you can just start streaming them the
same way that Stadius streams games, expos Cloud streams games. You just stream
them to the Netflix that you have on your TV, and you download an
app on your phone and you can use that as a control. Yeah,
it's definitely interesting. I don't know how much I need games on my Netflix,
but if Netflix started to make games with their money, that could be
interesting, especially with the properties that they have, that'd be interesting. That's
what I'm interested in. It's like them investing in these studios and allowing them
to make more games, and also bringing games to people who wouldn't have,
Like they're not going to get a console, you know what, You're right,
Like they can play Oxen for you. They can play whatever on their
phone. You know what? Did you know what state ear is? It
sounds familiar, but so Google tried to do that. They Google they tried
to release But yes, it's the same thing. You'd buy it and they'd
send you a little one of the Crome cast dongles and a controller and you
plug the dongle into your TV and then you stream games with the controller.
It was a flop and it lasted like a year or two with no support
and then they refunded everybody, but that was largely because the service wasn't what
was promised and you still had to plug in a dongle. You still kind
of had to have them. Yeah, exactly. But if it's baked in
the Netflix and you can just use your phone, that is well for some
install base is already there. Yeah, you just need to get cool experiences
to it. If they can stop putting games like Destiny and stuff on there
and like these larger experiences, that could get really interesting, because right now
it's very like two D little cartoony type games and like a mobile. I
do see them doing like a gaming add on thing though, like okay,
we'll pay for and then like another they'll end up separating it and then like
if you want to play games in four K, it'll be a searcharge games
where no ads will be a searcharge. They will be like that, we
have a library of games you can play for free if you like pay for
this, or you can buy the games. It'll be a whole thing.
Yeah. Yeah, I struggle to see it ever taking off if there's never
going to be like like a good physical controller for that sort of thing.
I want to Yeah, I'm not one hundred percent. I mean, right
now, all the games you can just play on a phone because they're all
mobile games anyway. But I do wonder if there is a way you can
connect even if connected a Bluetooth controller to your phone and the phone is connected
to the app. That could be a thing. Just sounds like Xbox with
extra steps a little bit. Yeah, but you don't have to buy an
Xboxbox, which is Xbox this whole thing too, just storage x cloud,
just play our games without a console. And also while games will be everywhere
except on our console, what are they doing? But I feel like the
like, yeah, you don't want you don't want like a specific you know,
device, right, or like you don't want to have to plug anything
in. But if there was a device that had a control or like a
gaming controller that came with it that was like thirty bucks, like a fire
stick, so cheap, because like they can like pump so many ads onto
your homes. I feel like I see something like that coming in the future.
M hmm. I think the future of gaming is just streaming for sure,
Like it will get to the point where like internet is so good for
everybody that everything would just be streaming. Figured out how to make the Internet
like a thousand times faster some guy it's like it's like, oh, fiber
optics, Like, yeah, we worked out a way to make it a
thousand times faster than it is. Yeah, yeah, that's going to be
the future. I mean, it's just it's the whole tangent. But music,
TV shows, and movies. Think about it. They're all streaming now.
Best buys taking out all the physical media from their stores. How do
you feel about not having like physical copies anymore? You're not in control.
I mean it hurts me in my soul. And I know that companies like
Nintendo will hold onto it for as long as they can. But I am
very easily adaptable, and I'm also thinking of it logically, like, think
about how much better it is that you can just play whatever song you want?

without having a bias CD and put it into my tape deck or whatever.
