Speaker 3: I'm thankful I was there the night shore we hit four ball four bombs. That was a fun night. I'm just thankful baseball matters so much in this town. Last you know, last four years have been uh fun. I know that the conclusions have not been what people are looking for and have created some disappointment, serious appointment, especially the last three. But the regular seasons have created a lot of great stories, a lot of great performances. I Turner wins a bouting, titlest Year, Schwarmer RBI home run title, I mean, Zach Wheelers, some great performances, Christopher Sanchez. So I just thankful baseball really matters, and it's going to continue to matter, and they're going to have another twenty twenty six is going to be another entertaining and adventurous regular season. I'm sure there will be a lot of great storylines and then October will come along and we'll see what happens. But bottom line, thankful baseball matters.

Speaker 2: What do you got, Todd Well, Yeah, one hundred percent having baseball You know you could be. You can live in so many other cities where you know, going into spring training your team does not have it like a real chance to win. That that is not the case in Philadelphia. But I was thinking about this and I am thankful that I get to watch the development and just see how players can go from big time prospect down to this guy's a bus to now finishing second for Nlcy Young like Christopher Sanchez. I mean, how much fun was it to watch him pitch this year and just to see kind of how far he has come from being a guy that they got in a trade with Tampa Bay because he was a lefty that threw hard, to having no velocity, no command, people going like, uh, bad trade from the Phillies. And then Christopher Sanchez gets completely turned around. Jim, we talked about the you talked about this last week following the BBWA Awards and how he came into spring training looking like the news, Yes, like he was the dude, and then to see him actually go out there and put it together. It shows you just when you think you know what's going to happen with baseball, and you think you have a player figured out, and you know you're ready to give up on a guy. This guy can't hit lefties. This guy's not going to be the guy you think he's going to be boom. Next year, Bryce and Scott's gonna hit like three ten make an All Star team. So you never know what's going to happen.

You know, people didn't like to trade at first because that Curtis Mead gets to the big leagues before Sanchez becomes Sanchez, and people, oh, you great, gave away a really solid hitting prospect infielder. How can you make that trade? Well, it takes a little time. It takes a little time, and uh but an awfully good one. I think people would make that trade again.

And the fact that that dude got to the big leagues without being drafted and become sort of a and make some impact for a team that's one of the best teams in the major leagues. You gotta love that and and that that heartens me because.

He's got a good bat. I'm really curious to see how he builds on twenty twenty five going into next year. But I think you're right. Those stories are great. They keep it coming back.

Okay, this one comes from John Barton on Facebook Crunching the numbers. A spot rack has the Phillies payroll around two hundred and thirty eight million arbitration players included. He had J ten Schwarberts. You know, it's two eighty ish plus you figure, and you know all the other competitive balanced tax stuff. How much do you think Debrowski has given up on the payroll flexibility? Where's the money for that big right handed bat to put in the four hole behind Harper?

They get both of those guys done, that's pretty much gonna eat up what they can do, unless unless they end up moving maybe an Alec Bohm and decide to you know, and then maybe they Matt strom as well, that's like seventeen million there, and then they decide, Okay, we're gonna be freed up thirty eight million next year when Castianos and Taiwan Walker come off. Maybe we can structure something backloaded and take a run at that right handed bat. In my dream world it would be Bobashett and yeah he could play two infield spots and get creative and realigning people and see what happens. But I don't know that it can happen. But I do agree with the with the caller. You need a right handed bat. You need a right handed bat. I don't know where it's coming from. I know who I would love to see it be, but I'm not sure they can take their payroll.

I think, or some combination of those guys, because they're they're they're you know, all left haended power, all utendant bats.

Speaker 1: A little different profile for all of them. But uh, you know, I think Schorber is sort of like the lynch pin in a lot of ways to see where he goes because his deal is going to be shorter than those guys deal.

Speaker 3: I think he doesn't strike me personality wise, values, you know, personal values wise as a guy wants to linger out there right until New Year's you know, I'm not saying he's gonna jump three weeks into free agency where we are now, but I think sometime before Christmas, you know, yeah, maybe around the winter meetings. This is just a guess. He just doesn't strike me as a guy that wants to stay out there forever. I think he wants to know where he's going, and he's got a young family. He wants to be Santa Claus, and he wants to get ready for the season.

Speaker 2: But you know, one thing I did here the other day is about Harrison Bader or last week is kind of what we've all discussed, which is, you know, how much are you a believer in Harrison Bader replicating the career year that he had this year twenty twenty five, in twenty twenty seven, twenty twenty eight. If he wants a tour or three year contract, I think that would that should give the Phillies some pause. But if you want the player, sometimes you have to swallow hard and do something that you might not necessarily want to do. But you know, there's a lot of a lot of teams are looking for right handed hitting outfielders, so he might have some interest there. But you know, get him back on a short term deal, I would be all about it. Plays a great center field.

Speaker 5: Question is whether you're going to go go to two years? I think he maybe he thinks he can get three years. I can't imagine he'll get three, but I get the two And is a number going to be north of ten or eleven?

Have a lot of respect for the impact he had on the team, and he brought a lot of energy and production on both sides of the ball. But you know, in the years prior to that, he bounced around a lot, he had subpar seasons. You just don't know what he is. I wouldn't be I'd be very much in favor of a one year deal. I'd give him a little bump on that ten yeah, but I'd be careful on a multi year deal. Just I'm just not I'm not sure what he is over the one sixty two.

Speaker 2: Here's an interesting one, and Christopher Hartman on Instagram goes, how does Andrew Painter compare to Spencer Howard. Howard was hyped just as much as Andrew Painter a few years ago. I remember in twenty ten, Bryce Harper was playing.

Speaker 2: Streaming himself playing video games, and he was very like, if Spencer Howard does not make this roster, I mean, there's something wrong. I mean, this guy's a phenomenal talent. I mean he was a considered to be a stud in twenty twenty.

Speaker 3: If I'm not mistaken, though, I think Painter as a longer track record on the amateur side of elite prospect hood. I'm not even sure Spencer Harward was drafted out of high school. I'd have to look it up. I'd have to look it up. I'm not sure I know he was drafted.

Spencer Howard was insanely hyped for his strike thrown ability and his power, but he didn't compete when he got here, like I think he was projected to compete, and then did he have that.

I don't know what this is on Instagram or Facebook. Daniel Susseck is a the Oakland or not Oakland. He's the A's number eleven prospect. He's a catcher. The A's did not protect him in the Rule five draft, former first round pick. And I'm not expecting you guys to have like seen this guy play a lot. But the question is should the Phillies go after this guy and maybe take him in the Rule five draft? I mean, would you take in what scenario? Maybe this is a better question is in what scenario would the Phillies.

I would consider anything that makes me better. It'd be great to add some more catching, But the forty minute roster thing, you know, makes it tough to consider him depth right.
