Revisiting WWF The Main Event #1 1988 Two Dave Hebners, Hogan vs Andre, Macho Man vs Honky Tonk Man

DEADLOCK: A Pro Wrestling Podcast

February 5th, 1988 is one of the most historic shows in the Golden Era of the WWF. This was the night Hulk Hogan was defending the WWF title against Andre The Giant. At the end of the match Hulk Hogan kicked out, but the ref counted to 3 anyway. There was chaos in the ring as we saw 2 of the same referees. THERE WERE 2 DAVE HEBNERS! “HOW MUCH DID THE PLASTIC SURGERY COST?” screamed Hulk Hogan! We wouldn’t find out why there were 2 Dave Hebners, on that night, but we did know that Andre The Giant was the new WWF Champion. After winning, he immediately gave the belt to The Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase. Also, Macho Man Randy Savage defended his WWF Intercontinental Title against the Honky Tonk Man and a short match between The Hart Foundation and Strike Force gets cut off as the show ends. Plus, the $5 DEADLOCK Patreon Q&A returns!

<v Speaker 2>It was on Friday. Asked you guys don't know what
<v Speaker 2>days it was back in the eighties. Things were different
<v Speaker 2>back then. February fifth, nineteen eighty eight.

<v Speaker 2>Q and a segment. Cool Colock Cook, come on, come on,
<v Speaker 2>come on, James, James cool.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, Yes, let's go.
<v Speaker 2>Yes.
<v Speaker 3>Every so often we'll make a thread on the Patreon. Yes,
<v Speaker 3>trying to get some questions from you all. We were
<v Speaker 3>going to do it last week and I was dying,
<v Speaker 3>so we moved it to this week. Appreciate you all
<v Speaker 3>having patients here but we collected a lot of questions here,
<v Speaker 3>and we all collected questions. Actually, we're gonna take turns
<v Speaker 3>here asking questions because I thought that'd be fucking cute
<v Speaker 3>because we didn't have a food.
<v Speaker 2>Oh that's so cute. It's so adorable.
<v Speaker 3>All right, I'll start off here. Boys, uh forty four
<v Speaker 3>caliber love letter says important question for the boys. When
<v Speaker 3>you eat a Reese's cup, do you pull the little
<v Speaker 3>panties all the way off first or do you just
<v Speaker 3>pull it to the side?
<v Speaker 2>Is he saying like he takes off half of the
<v Speaker 2>rapper and then just eats that half and then takes
<v Speaker 2>it all out once he's about Yeah, that's.
<v Speaker 1>Kind of the idea.
<v Speaker 3>I like, yeah, I guess he's like keeping it like, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>he's unraveling it as.
<v Speaker 2>It goes along.
<v Speaker 1>Your hands clean, you know, you don't get you got
<v Speaker 1>to and you gotta put him in the freezer too
<v Speaker 1>before you eat them.
<v Speaker 3>I've never done that, I've heard him.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, ye is that right?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I'm I'm taking that sucker all off. This ship's
<v Speaker 3>getting button naked, and I'm probably I mean, that's at
<v Speaker 3>least two bites. I don't need the whole rapper there
<v Speaker 3>minimum it's two bites or maximum it's two bites. That's
<v Speaker 3>it's gone.
<v Speaker 2>You know, there's no way that anyone takes more than
<v Speaker 2>one bite to eat at Reese's Cup. You just gotta
<v Speaker 2>throw the thing in your mouth.
<v Speaker 1>But is crazy.
<v Speaker 2>It's melting at record pace when he free them.
<v Speaker 1>You have to take multiple bites with a frozen one.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, well that's only on pool.
<v Speaker 1>In my mouth, that's crazy.
<v Speaker 2>That's all on pool days.
<v Speaker 3>That's fair. You're ing them in one hole, one fell swoop,
<v Speaker 3>You're just throwing the suck in there.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, yeah, I chew it, but like, yeah, it's
<v Speaker 2>all going off that one right, that makes sense? Yes, yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>one bite is like you know, I put it all
<v Speaker 2>in at once and go to town on it everybody.
<v Speaker 3>I'm gonna attempt putting it in full.
<v Speaker 2>And just swallowing I wouldn't. I wouldn't do that.
<v Speaker 3>Oh okay, Well I'm gonna try it for you please.
<v Speaker 3>Oh got it? Okay, Well your question next, said James.
<v Speaker 2>I got a question here from Adam from Scotland Tony Pizza.
<v Speaker 2>Why did you frog smash my dog the long way
<v Speaker 2>sixty nine? Crazy style? You sink freak.
<v Speaker 1>That was not the question.
<v Speaker 2>So the question. I'm going to Japan in April for
<v Speaker 2>my honeymoon. That's right, boys, locked me in some boobies
<v Speaker 2>for life. Anything you'd recommend as a must do. I
<v Speaker 2>will be in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto for a few
<v Speaker 2>days each April twenty fourth and twenty fifth. Twenty fourth,
<v Speaker 2>you need to go to Shinjuku. Face in the evening
<v Speaker 2>April twenty fifth. You gotta go shink keep a first Ring.
<v Speaker 2>You gotta take the train all the way to like
<v Speaker 2>the last stop. There's a little nice little coffee shop
<v Speaker 2>right there in the station. When you get off there
<v Speaker 2>is you head down the street, Shink keep a first Ring.
<v Speaker 2>I heard the action as nuts out there.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I mean it's I mean, espally there's a wrestling
<v Speaker 3>fan is specifically on April twenty fourth and twenty fifth,
<v Speaker 3>that seems like the place to be. Like if I mean,
<v Speaker 3>like if you were asking me if I was in
<v Speaker 3>Japan during that time, like that strip of time in
<v Speaker 3>April April twenty fourth and twenty fifth, I'd be in
<v Speaker 3>those two locations for sure.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, absolutely, Like look for the tickets, you know what
<v Speaker 2>I mean, do your thing.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I mean you can go for them somewhere. Great
<v Speaker 3>suggestions there, though, James, I think that was a good answer.
<v Speaker 1>Toby, all right, Hogan, HJJ, and HBK only wish they
<v Speaker 1>could bury someone the way Kendrick buried Drake. Have all
<v Speaker 1>of you either work Have all of you either worked
<v Speaker 1>retail or food service? And if so, do you have
<v Speaker 1>any good stories?
<v Speaker 3>I have not worked either of those.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I worked at I worked overnight at Walmart's before,
<v Speaker 1>like when I was in my early twenties or whatever,
<v Speaker 1>just because you know, overnight. I thought it was cool,
<v Speaker 1>even though it like sucks to work overnight.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I worked in like the dairy department, so I was
<v Speaker 1>just in the backstock and like the yogurt and all
<v Speaker 1>that shit all night long with a hoodie on a
<v Speaker 1>music playing. It was pretty sweet shit. Yeah. And then
<v Speaker 1>like I have two stories, like one, uh, this one
<v Speaker 1>manager that used to work in like the dairy department
<v Speaker 1>got like pissed one day and he was gonna quit.
<v Speaker 1>So he went to the produce department and grabbed a
<v Speaker 1>giant ass watermelon and came back in the in the
<v Speaker 1>dairy cooler and smashed it everywhere. Watermelon just.
<v Speaker 2>Show him you'reshing out.
<v Speaker 1>They got dude, he was christy go. They had cameras everywhere,
<v Speaker 1>and like, uh, he got totally got caught. It was
<v Speaker 1>so fucking funny.
<v Speaker 3>Because his plan like he was just pissed, Like he was.
<v Speaker 1>Like a guy who'd like they didn't order the milk
<v Speaker 1>I ordered, Like I ordered his milk and they never
<v Speaker 1>got it, and I'm fucking pissed. His play sucks and
<v Speaker 1>he gets so mad about it and socause you.
<v Speaker 2>Just can't have them a freaking packet, you know, like.
<v Speaker 1>You have headphones. I did not care.
<v Speaker 2>What the second time.
<v Speaker 1>Oh, just like every time I'd have to like bring
<v Speaker 1>the milk in, you know they milk or whatever.
<v Speaker 2>Nuts.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, dude, I had the wheels on the milk cart
<v Speaker 1>you know, like the you know, the milk carton things.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know how to explain it. They're like plastic
<v Speaker 1>cartons and their milk stacked like taller than you you know. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>and then there's they're like on wheels. So like every
<v Speaker 1>fucking time somebody would tip over one of those fucking
<v Speaker 1>things and milk.
<v Speaker 3>Were everywhere in the back like they just were moving it.
<v Speaker 1>It was just like they would bring the truck in
<v Speaker 1>and then it'd be like normal Walmart people would go
<v Speaker 1>unload the truck. The truck guy doesn't unload it, and
<v Speaker 1>so then like you'd like push the milk thing, and
<v Speaker 1>people that never worked the dairy would try to help out,
<v Speaker 1>and then they just fucking push it. It's in the morning,
<v Speaker 1>like right when everyone's trying to go home and break
<v Speaker 1>down their box, there's milk all over the place. I
<v Speaker 1>just go I just clock out. I'm like, fuck this,
<v Speaker 1>I'm going home. I can't handle this, Tony.
<v Speaker 3>I'm only now just realizing that milk to you is
<v Speaker 3>water to me, Like I didn't realize you say milk, Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I say milk, yeah yeah, now that's yeah, yeah.
<v Speaker 3>That's my water. All right. Next question here, I figured,
<v Speaker 3>I mean, you don't have to count this mind I
<v Speaker 3>can do too if this is just a quick one
<v Speaker 3>here from there was a bunch of questions here from
<v Speaker 3>a bunch of people, but I picked from, Hey, yo,
<v Speaker 3>it's the goosemang asks. Are the Deadlock Boys going to
<v Speaker 3>do the annual Deaddy's Your End Awards very soon? Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>we are going to do them. It's just been a
<v Speaker 3>little delayed. We're kind of trying to figure out what
<v Speaker 3>exactly the categories and all are. We're kind of discussing them.
<v Speaker 3>Things have been a little busy for the boys here
<v Speaker 3>at the start of the year and traveling and YadA, YadA, YadA.
<v Speaker 3>But yes, the deaddies are coming. So don't don't you worry.
<v Speaker 3>Don't you worry your heart's eye. And it's actually a
<v Speaker 3>very inde that you so many people have been asking,
<v Speaker 3>because that means they care. That's pretty fucking cool. All right, James,
<v Speaker 3>what's your question?
<v Speaker 2>Let's see, I have a question here from jose Atkinson.
<v Speaker 2>He says, I have been thinking about moving out of state.
<v Speaker 2>Do you have any suggestions?
<v Speaker 3>I mean where to us? Where he's at now?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, had a good idea.
<v Speaker 3>I mean, well, I think we all would put over
<v Speaker 3>North Carolina of course.
<v Speaker 2>Well, I think if you're moving for a job, that's different,
<v Speaker 2>Like obviously you don't really have much say in where
<v Speaker 2>you're going. If you're just moving for a job, you
<v Speaker 2>should look and see if whatever your career path is
<v Speaker 2>or whatever you're gonna go do really, if there's a
<v Speaker 2>like available jobs in that area that you're moving to, you'd.
<v Speaker 3>Take to move there and then not have anything to
<v Speaker 3>do that would suck.
<v Speaker 2>I always recommend the South because it's just cheaper, Like
<v Speaker 2>cost of living is cheaper than the North.
<v Speaker 3>Where Tony lives. M is pretty fucking nice. There's just
<v Speaker 3>you got to drive a million hours for everything.
<v Speaker 1>It feels like, yeah, but everyone's got a car and
<v Speaker 1>he's Midwest is cheap too. You just there's like a
<v Speaker 1>ton of jobs out here. So if you need like
<v Speaker 1>a job, to get one like pretty easy around here.
<v Speaker 1>So it's pretty cool.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, don't move to the North. Stay out of Philadelphia
<v Speaker 3>and Massachusetts. Really nothing here for you. Shit's expensive. Jobs
<v Speaker 3>are hard to find. It's in Massachusetts is nice, but
<v Speaker 3>you know, shit's fucking expensive as shit. I don't answering
<v Speaker 3>the opposite way about you. I figured give a place
<v Speaker 3>to start. If you were thinking Philadelphia and or anywhere
<v Speaker 3>in Massachusetts, probably you know I don't need to go there,
<v Speaker 3>all right, Tony, All.
<v Speaker 1>Right, Uh that's my purse. I don't know. You asked,
<v Speaker 1>do you have a favorite horror movie kill? I know
<v Speaker 1>we talked about stuff like this before, but I don't
<v Speaker 1>know about favorite kill in a horror movie ever.
<v Speaker 3>Oh wow, that's a that's a tough one. I need
<v Speaker 3>a sucking to think about that. I mean, like, all
<v Speaker 3>my thoughts immediately go to Sault because those are like
<v Speaker 3>my favorite fucking movies. The first one that came to
<v Speaker 3>mind is the reverse bear trap. I mean, like a
<v Speaker 3>man get out of it, but they use it to
<v Speaker 3>kill fucking like Jill gets killed by it, which is
<v Speaker 3>fucking gnarly. Like that's a thing.
<v Speaker 2>The first bear trap is one of the coolest things ever.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, it's fucking nuts.
<v Speaker 2>I guess a couple that come to mind would be
<v Speaker 2>Hatchet one when Victor Crowley runs down the Grandma and
<v Speaker 2>rips her mouth open from the bottom of her jaw
<v Speaker 2>over her head and spine and her tongue is sticking
<v Speaker 2>out the top. Another one I guess with Hatchet would
<v Speaker 2>be the the twenty foot long chainsaw up the dick
<v Speaker 2>and balls like that was pretty good.
<v Speaker 3>Well, dude, I was thinking of the terrifyer, you know,
<v Speaker 3>fucking split down the pussy all the way to that.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, that's a great one. Split down the pussy, the
<v Speaker 2>bedroom scene, I thought the I thought the mom scene
<v Speaker 2>was super underrated. Terrifier. Now talk about that one, the
<v Speaker 2>rat one, and the last one. Yeah, I have a
<v Speaker 2>ton like Friday at thirteenth, like I'm sorry enough. Nightmare
<v Speaker 2>on Elm Street when Freddy becomes the TV and smashes
<v Speaker 2>her head into the TV, which is awesome.
<v Speaker 1>Uh.
<v Speaker 2>The one where he walks the dude off the fucking
<v Speaker 2>cliff with the strings attacked to.
<v Speaker 1>His was crazy with the streaks.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, that one's awesome. Friday thirteenth. There's one that
<v Speaker 2>I always remember because it's so fucking funny. It's off
<v Speaker 2>the remake of Friday thirteenth when the dude's in the
<v Speaker 2>boat and he goes yo, and then its fucking boom,
<v Speaker 2>just head shot by a bow and arrow from like
<v Speaker 2>your yards out by Jason Bohes.
<v Speaker 3>Holy.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, do you guys remember that killed?
<v Speaker 2>They're in the boat out on the lake and he
<v Speaker 2>goes Jason bo He's bam, just fucking moving boat in
<v Speaker 2>the water like at least two hernd feet out head shot.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, unbelievable.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, that one's that was the Friday thirteenth remake when
<v Speaker 2>they brought it back. Wow and Jason Yeah could do
<v Speaker 2>a lot more.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, speaking of Friday thirteenth, the one and where he
<v Speaker 1>freezes the face and then.
<v Speaker 2>Jason the first kill. Yeah, that one's awesome Tony. The
<v Speaker 2>one where I don't know if you count it because
<v Speaker 2>they're AI, but the one where he puts them in
<v Speaker 2>the he puts them in the bag and they're like, Oh,
<v Speaker 2>come have sex with me, Jason. He's just flipping the
<v Speaker 2>bag back and forth. I gets the tree, he's just
<v Speaker 2>smacking it. Yeah, a sleeping bag kill. I like when
<v Speaker 2>he fights the android. I thought that was good. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I have a ton I mean, like ever, we could
<v Speaker 2>go on forever. I know I can't.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know if I could name it for everyone though, No, Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I was gonna say that. When I thought of it,
<v Speaker 1>I was like, Oh, the face Freeze one is like
<v Speaker 1>iconic and legendary. That's like one of my favorites just
<v Speaker 1>because it's so corny. But like everybody knows that even
<v Speaker 1>if they never saw the movie.
<v Speaker 2>You know what I mean?
<v Speaker 1>You like know that kill?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, you're right.
<v Speaker 3>I don't know hard for James because I know like
<v Speaker 3>he has a bajillion of them.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, well that was like when I was growing up,
<v Speaker 2>that was my favorite thing. Where was the kills? Like
<v Speaker 2>I was like looking out for like gory horror movies
<v Speaker 2>and ship Yeah, so like yeah, I mean that was
<v Speaker 2>like the coolest shit to me. I mean, we could go,
<v Speaker 2>like I said, we can go on foreverybody. We'll digress
<v Speaker 2>for now.
<v Speaker 3>We may have talked about this before, but I'll ask
<v Speaker 3>again because you know, it's probably been a while. John Flood,
<v Speaker 3>attorney at law, not me, asked what did y'all want
<v Speaker 3>to be growing up? Or did you always plan on
<v Speaker 3>being smart Marks? From rip I knew i'd be a
<v Speaker 3>little smart Mark sitting in NEXTVW shows. Uh my. I mean, like,
<v Speaker 3>I don't know if I ever had any aspiration other
<v Speaker 3>than to be a wrestler, Like I think that was
<v Speaker 3>always it when I was growing up. I don't know
<v Speaker 3>if like I had anything else in my mind then,
<v Speaker 3>like I would like to wrestle because I know, like
<v Speaker 3>and like I'm sure people want to be like I
<v Speaker 3>got in Fireman and shit, which is probably like way
<v Speaker 3>fucking better, like way harder, but also like you know,
<v Speaker 3>a more reasonable aspiration.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, wrestler, I'll probably actually do it.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah yeah, yeah, doctor, Sorry I got really distracted there,
<v Speaker 3>but yeah, wrestler is always that was always.
<v Speaker 2>My uh go to.
<v Speaker 1>So I don't know why I was always like this
<v Speaker 1>so hard. It sounds like, you know, like you want
<v Speaker 1>to be a doctor.
<v Speaker 2>A doctor. They'd probably say, simmer down, simmer down.
<v Speaker 1>I'll know you love computers and show. When I was
<v Speaker 1>growing up, you know, you have the family computer or whatever.
<v Speaker 1>And then my parents were like, you should be a programmer.
<v Speaker 1>I took one programming class and I hated it, and
<v Speaker 1>I was like, I'm not doing programming.
<v Speaker 3>I just did what did you want to be?
<v Speaker 2>Did you do?
<v Speaker 1>You remember like I don't know something, you know. I
<v Speaker 1>was like, oh, I'll do something in business. Had no
<v Speaker 1>idea what I was going to do. He kind of
<v Speaker 1>made that yeah, but like, no, I know I was
<v Speaker 1>going to watch wf's the main event and do that
<v Speaker 1>as a job. No, but yeah, my parents like, you'd
<v Speaker 1>be a programmer. It'd be great. And then I hated it.
<v Speaker 1>I did one little coating thing. I was like, this
<v Speaker 1>is so bad. I don't want to do this.
<v Speaker 3>That's funniest ship. You don't want to be a pizza guy?
<v Speaker 1>No, no at all? Play video games? That that was
<v Speaker 1>pretty cool.
<v Speaker 3>Do that for a living, dude. I mean, that was
<v Speaker 3>never a thought of mine that I could like that
<v Speaker 3>that would be a thing like making playing game into
<v Speaker 3>a job or whatever, Like, yeah, that was never a
<v Speaker 3>fucking thought in my brain. I was just doing it.
<v Speaker 5>Nah.
<v Speaker 1>Once YouTube came around, though, I was like super exciting,
<v Speaker 1>you know. I was all into like new grounds and stuff.
<v Speaker 1>Then YouTube came out and I was like, oh, this
<v Speaker 1>is crazy. People just make videos and that's what they do.
<v Speaker 1>For Early, that's kind of cool, dude.
<v Speaker 3>I was like, like for my friends, like I wasn't.
<v Speaker 3>I had no idea that anyone else would ever find
<v Speaker 3>anything that I did. So like I was just uploaded
<v Speaker 3>to make my friends left and like stuff that we
<v Speaker 3>were doing just to yeah, like I will remember this
<v Speaker 3>in a few years little as I know. What about you, James,
<v Speaker 3>did you? Uh would you want to be?
<v Speaker 2>I wanted to work at Planet Video, that's right?
<v Speaker 3>Oh man, Early, wasn't it.
<v Speaker 2>It was yeah yeah, yeah, so like going to Planet
<v Speaker 2>Video because I lived in a southern town, so there
<v Speaker 2>wasn't much to do anyways, right, so either we play
<v Speaker 2>outside or whatever. But like I got an Xbox super early.
<v Speaker 2>I was like super into Xbox and shit, and I
<v Speaker 2>was super into movies, especially Harmond's and stuff. So like
<v Speaker 2>my favorite thing to do would be on the weekend,
<v Speaker 2>like Friday, you know, get out of school and then
<v Speaker 2>go to Video Zone, and I was like, Wow, this
<v Speaker 2>is the coolest thing ever. And like everybody that talked
<v Speaker 2>to there, like on the clerks and all the people
<v Speaker 2>are super cool.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I was like, oh, these are like the coolest teenagers ever,
<v Speaker 2>Like these are like you know, like this is like,
<v Speaker 2>oh man, they must be like the dream job here
<v Speaker 2>is doing this. You know, I had no no real
<v Speaker 2>world thoughts or anything at this point. All right, Jay's
<v Speaker 2>got a questions. I got a question here from Armando J. Mendoza.
<v Speaker 2>He said, when do you guys normally get your video
<v Speaker 2>game time in? Is it the weekends or sporadically when
<v Speaker 2>you have something to play?
<v Speaker 3>Uh, lately it's between midnight and six am. I think
<v Speaker 3>that's game time.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's actually right, it's like the correct answer.
<v Speaker 3>Actually, yeah, Usually like all the bullshit's going on like
<v Speaker 3>during the day, like that's when like you know, work's
<v Speaker 3>got to get done and dealing with people and people
<v Speaker 3>that are awake, like trying to get through all the
<v Speaker 3>bullshit is usually normal people our I mean, my sleep
<v Speaker 3>schedule is completely atrocious. James is actually on a normal
<v Speaker 3>sleep schedule at the current time, which is freaking me out.
<v Speaker 3>That's awesome, but mine is like complete garbage. So, like
<v Speaker 3>I usually wake up pretty late and then you know,
<v Speaker 3>we do bullshit and then usually around the time when
<v Speaker 3>everyone's free to do shit that's not like you know,
<v Speaker 3>pertaining to work or anything else. It's usually around like
<v Speaker 3>eleven PM, and then we'll game until fucking the morning. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>that's usually what it is now. I mean, like I
<v Speaker 3>haven't like but most of the time it's just like
<v Speaker 3>I'm jumping on just to like play something I haven't
<v Speaker 3>really sat down and played, like a game that I
<v Speaker 3>was like, Oh, like, I'm excited to go play this
<v Speaker 3>new game, and.
<v Speaker 1>I'll oh, yeah, like a full game or whatever.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, but I mean I haven't done that in
<v Speaker 3>like years. But like sometimes I'm like, oh, like that
<v Speaker 3>looks fun, maybe I should sit down and play that,
<v Speaker 3>and then I just don't.
<v Speaker 2>So you didn't play metaphor Refantasio.
<v Speaker 3>I didn't even buy it, though some of us did
<v Speaker 3>from what I understand.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it was nominated for Game of these years.
<v Speaker 3>You had it before it got out of you or
<v Speaker 3>what he dude, he bought it as they nominated it.
<v Speaker 2>They nominated for a Game of the damn ship must
<v Speaker 2>be clean anyow.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, recommendations, the game awards. That's awesome.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean someone's got there right.
<v Speaker 3>Well, I was too, well, see I was different, Jody.
<v Speaker 3>I came out of that playing Astro bought crazy, so.
<v Speaker 2>I started playing Blatro.
<v Speaker 3>You did play Blattro. That's true.
<v Speaker 2>That yeah, yeah, I just put.
<v Speaker 1>On my phone. You just play it when you're on
<v Speaker 1>the shitter, you know, play a little blotcho.
<v Speaker 3>Oh yeah, I've been playing w W Slam Tops Trading
<v Speaker 3>card game.
<v Speaker 1>You have been playing that game. That's my fucking game
<v Speaker 1>anytime in anywhere.
<v Speaker 3>Keep on TCG and boy, oh boy, have I been
<v Speaker 3>getting made fun of everybody.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know about who?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I mean, yeah, Tony got question here, there's probably
<v Speaker 3>the last one.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, PlayStation chavvy once know what's your favorite jackass stunt
<v Speaker 1>slash prank. Oh, there's a lot of good ones from Jackson.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'll name some the fucking Big hand. Hey, Hey, hey, Bam,
<v Speaker 2>we need you to carry this plate of soup into the.
<v Speaker 1>I can't stand that one because they did it on
<v Speaker 1>Dodoe and I just hate it now because Dody did it.
<v Speaker 2>It can't It's funny I like the one where they
<v Speaker 2>put the love letter on the wall and said, hey,
<v Speaker 2>you know I slipt with some of you guys whatever. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>and then Jacksonville just hits it with the fists of
<v Speaker 2>the wall and they got we man just staying on
<v Speaker 2>this chair right here.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, they can like knock the funk out in those ones.
<v Speaker 1>Those are gnarly.
<v Speaker 2>They're brutal.
<v Speaker 3>Dave England taking a ship in hardware store toilets.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, and the one where he shit his pants
<v Speaker 2>in the car before on the way there and throws up.
<v Speaker 1>He also do the one where he shipped while running.
<v Speaker 1>I think that was the c k y bit. That
<v Speaker 1>might have been him too, I can't remember. Was that
<v Speaker 1>Ryan Dunn That might have been Ryan Dunne while running?
<v Speaker 3>Dude the toy car and his ass, Oh yeah, with
<v Speaker 3>the common legendary that's I don't tell them, don't tell
<v Speaker 3>your friends. How did toy cargan there? I think you've
<v Speaker 3>stuck it up your hand?
<v Speaker 1>The porter potty one, the poop rang one, d.
<v Speaker 2>The Yeah, that was good.
<v Speaker 3>That was disgusting. Knoxville and uh Butterbean, Oh is butterbean?
<v Speaker 2>Okay? Wow?
<v Speaker 3>There's I mean, there's way too many.
<v Speaker 2>The first two are like unbelievable all time er, like yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>they're just like timeless.
<v Speaker 3>Oh did he just say movie or in general?
<v Speaker 1>Sorry, Tony, I just uh yeah, just jackass.
<v Speaker 2>That's okay, sure, Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>What a what a great show James been rewatching VIVAA
<v Speaker 3>Bam recently?
<v Speaker 2>Yes, I have. Yeah, that's if we're including those. I
<v Speaker 2>do the one where he told him to where he
<v Speaker 2>took all his T shirts and pants and then put
<v Speaker 2>a Hamburger press on all over. We're gonna take all
<v Speaker 2>of Phil's clothes and put a Hamburger on all over.
<v Speaker 3>Don't feed Field today?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, god, oh.
<v Speaker 1>Legendary.
<v Speaker 3>Also treetop casinos all the time. What a great time
<v Speaker 3>of my life? Like that of my life was shi
<v Speaker 3>it was fun man, so awesome. I didn't realize how
<v Speaker 3>good I had it, Like games were awesome.
<v Speaker 2>Movies in the world just whatever.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, dude, Ship was like computers, like internets on the rise,
<v Speaker 3>like go through all that. Yeah, old as fuck. That's awesome.
<v Speaker 3>But that is it for the Q and A. This week.
<v Speaker 2>There was a question here from d show Joe Street Soldier.
<v Speaker 2>They said, twenty three flavors and Johnny on Ship about him?
<v Speaker 2>Why is the best soda.
<v Speaker 3>You like?
<v Speaker 2>Dodor did?
<v Speaker 3>I saw that one on there and I was I
<v Speaker 3>was like, Wow, someone's gonna fucking pig this dupid?
<v Speaker 2>Do you like that? I ever, Hey, you guys, I
<v Speaker 2>don't like doctor Pepper. What the hell? What are you
<v Speaker 2>afraid to taste something? Flavors? Are you afraid to taste something?
<v Speaker 2>Dan Reicherd also said, have you seen mcgoverer time read?
<v Speaker 2>Because break doesn't all be great wonderful time? Yes, Thanky
<v Speaker 2>dan Cher, you saw some soldier online? Thank you, thank you.
<v Speaker 2>All right, now it's time to take us back to February.
<v Speaker 1>Fifth, nineteen eighty eight.
<v Speaker 2>The main event number one.
<v Speaker 3>The first one even though it's so it's a spin
<v Speaker 3>off of Saturday Night's main event, but it's not on Saturday,
<v Speaker 3>it's actually Friday. So they did yeah, you know, well,
<v Speaker 3>I think it was just doing well, so they wanted
<v Speaker 3>to have like another primetime special just on a different day.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, little double shot.
<v Speaker 1>Friday Saturdays made back to bad.
<v Speaker 3>Yes, and this is the first one in a big
<v Speaker 3>way because the big main event on this show hul
<v Speaker 3>Cogan against Andre the Giant, a year after supposedly somewhere
<v Speaker 3>around there there WrestleMania match where Hogan picked him up
<v Speaker 3>over his head in front of a thousand, one hundred
<v Speaker 3>thousand people over in front of one thousand veeple.
<v Speaker 2>And he dance.
<v Speaker 3>Before we get into that, let's take a small, short,
<v Speaker 3>little look into the water wrestling at the time with
<v Speaker 3>the Wrestling Observer newsletter. There was really not much gossip
<v Speaker 3>in nineteen eighty observers. Yeah, not not a lot of
<v Speaker 3>Gaga Tony though, so really just kind of straightforward things here.
<v Speaker 3>But there's a couple things nonetheless, and then there's something
<v Speaker 3>about this show in particular that I'll save it until
<v Speaker 3>the end of the review. But from the Observer February first,
<v Speaker 3>nineteen eighty eight, Meltzer says, So next on the big
<v Speaker 3>event agenda is the NBC special on February fifth. Meltzer says,
<v Speaker 3>I'm told not to worry about Hogan and Andre's match,
<v Speaker 3>as Andre's back is in a lot better shape than
<v Speaker 3>it was last year, and they somehow survive that he
<v Speaker 3>and Hogan are practicing daily, I'm told, and have a
<v Speaker 3>good match worked out. Meltzer put in parentheses. Now, let's
<v Speaker 3>not get carried away a ton of speculation that andre
<v Speaker 3>will win or the title will be held up. As
<v Speaker 3>mentioned before, Hogan can't win because they will kill WrestleMania four.
<v Speaker 3>I'm not sure why that is. If they're going for
<v Speaker 3>a cage match, then you know the finish involves outside
<v Speaker 3>interference with Ted Debiassi. Meltzer puts your in parentheses. Actually
<v Speaker 3>you can be sure Debiaso will get involved in the finish.
<v Speaker 3>On February fifth. This is the first issue of our
<v Speaker 3>current four issue set. So that's how the Observer was
<v Speaker 3>going here. I guess you could buy them in sets
<v Speaker 3>of four. I don't know if I ever had a
<v Speaker 3>physical observer, and I don't know if I've where they
<v Speaker 3>in stores.
<v Speaker 2>They would get sent out right. It was like you
<v Speaker 2>joined the subscription, mail.
<v Speaker 1>A check to Dave Meltzer's house and then he's right
<v Speaker 1>handed you in the mail or some right, yeah that's.
<v Speaker 3>Right, yeah, okay, I don't yeah, I mean, like I
<v Speaker 3>in my brain. So when I was going to do that,
<v Speaker 3>I was like, there's no fucking way there's observers in
<v Speaker 3>eighty eight. But there was.
<v Speaker 2>I was like, Wow, that's yeah, you got it like
<v Speaker 2>a newspaper.
<v Speaker 3>I guess, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I guess that's probably right. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>and a couple things here from the Observer of February eighth,
<v Speaker 3>nineteen eighty eight. Now I couldn't find the actual observer,
<v Speaker 3>but uh, Saint Ridley from a square circle on Reddit
<v Speaker 3>had kind of a write up of some stuff here,
<v Speaker 3>so I got some information from that. Meltzer has here.
<v Speaker 3>The wrestling war is, for all intents and purposes, over
<v Speaker 3>the war between the territories, the ongoing collapse of the
<v Speaker 3>territory system in vinsc Man's rise. It is certainly the
<v Speaker 3>biggest story in decades, and at this point the war
<v Speaker 3>is over and Vincentmann has won. Sure, the fighting is
<v Speaker 3>still ongoing, but even if Jim Crockett Promotions can recover
<v Speaker 3>from the troubles, the gap between them and the WBF
<v Speaker 3>is there and it's just going to keep widening, So,
<v Speaker 3>which I guess makes sense. You know, WrestleMania is a
<v Speaker 3>big fuck deal. Like you know, we're coming up on
<v Speaker 3>wrestling you a four, So like WF is pulling ahead.
<v Speaker 3>And when when we watch old stuff back, it's hard
<v Speaker 3>for me, Like I just watch it as it is,
<v Speaker 3>but I wonder how it was like watching wrestling in
<v Speaker 3>nineteen eighty eight as like a territory fan, like and
<v Speaker 3>then seeing this fucking big monster of a company just
<v Speaker 3>kind of swallow it.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, like I guess like only watching the indies and
<v Speaker 1>then like, oh, what's this thirtyf thing? And you just
<v Speaker 1>one time you're like, holy shit, this is insane.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, like that that probably sucked, right, like seeing all
<v Speaker 3>that just go away.
<v Speaker 2>I mean just because even if you look at it
<v Speaker 2>like sheerly off numbers, like a lot of territories died, right,
<v Speaker 2>so like a lot of people's favorite places died, and
<v Speaker 2>then just this one you just kind of had to
<v Speaker 2>funnel into just this one. And we kind of saw
<v Speaker 2>it happen again, right when WCW and ECW died, Yes,
<v Speaker 2>and everyone just kind of had to funnel here. And
<v Speaker 2>then of course we saw a lot of those fans
<v Speaker 2>that were watching WCWECW just didn't go watching.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah I'm not switching what I'm watching, right Yeah. WWFS
<v Speaker 3>Royal Rumble came out the clear winner against the Bunk
<v Speaker 3>House Stampede finals. That Rumble drew an eight point two
<v Speaker 3>rating and was seen in three point two million homes,
<v Speaker 3>which is twice as many people as when Georgia Championship
<v Speaker 3>Wrestling show on WTBS was big several years ago when
<v Speaker 3>this wrestling war was getting started. It's the highest rated
<v Speaker 3>show in the U in the history of the USA Network,
<v Speaker 3>and the Encore broadcast on Monday dre a four point
<v Speaker 3>eight rating a regular episode of primetime wrestling and that
<v Speaker 3>times usually this is a two point nine. All this
<v Speaker 3>means that is that the repeat showing of The Rumble
<v Speaker 3>was probably the second highest rated show on cable during
<v Speaker 3>the last week. So I think The Rumble was on
<v Speaker 3>TV at this time, Like I guess, you know, pay
<v Speaker 3>per view wasn't really a thing, Okay, you know, Rumble
<v Speaker 3>was like a TV special. Eight point two rating is
<v Speaker 3>fucking nuts to.
<v Speaker 2>I think that's what WCW did with Clash of Champions, I.
<v Speaker 3>Think, is yeah, I think yeah, yeah, I think that's right. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>I mean like wow, yeah, Like like you said, like
<v Speaker 3>these you know, this goes away right, like eight point
<v Speaker 3>two eight happened at any fucking time soon.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean, I guess, like if you want to
<v Speaker 2>look at the wrestling audience and how has dwindled over
<v Speaker 2>the past fifty years, like there used to be a
<v Speaker 2>lot more wrestling fans, but like, yeah, as time went on,
<v Speaker 2>we just I mean it's like MIDI school compared to
<v Speaker 2>what it was.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, last thing here other other than the observer stuff
<v Speaker 3>that I can talk about at the end of the show.
<v Speaker 3>The employment status of the Rock and Roll Express Michael
<v Speaker 3>Hayes and Steve Williams with Jim Crockett Promotions has significantly
<v Speaker 3>cleared up. The Rock and Roll Express were fired at
<v Speaker 3>the Bunkcass finals on January twenty third. They were asked
<v Speaker 3>to do a clean job to Warlord and Ivan call
<v Speaker 3>off in twelve minutes, so instead they did the job
<v Speaker 3>in twelve seconds. Ricky Morton laid down to let Warlord
<v Speaker 3>fit him. Then they flew for the finals, and Dusty
<v Speaker 3>Rhodes learned what happened because he wasn't at the show
<v Speaker 3>and fired them on the spot. The Belzer said the
<v Speaker 3>comm be heading anywhere their WWF is doubtful due to
<v Speaker 3>their size, and Michael Hayes was fired last week following
<v Speaker 3>an incident. Doesn't really say what happened. I imagine he
<v Speaker 3>was being an asshole. Dude, lose these guys at twelve ah,
<v Speaker 3>fuck you all lose in skids, laying down right yeah,
<v Speaker 3>I mean, you guys gotta get fired, what the fuck?
<v Speaker 3>Or look kidneys, dudes as you're at. But that is
<v Speaker 3>it for the observer. Now let's talk about WF the
<v Speaker 3>main Event, number one, February fifth, nineteen eighty eight.
<v Speaker 2>All right, so we start with a code open. Here,
<v Speaker 2>we get a ton of small promo segments from everyone
<v Speaker 2>that will be wrestling tonight. Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>I mean I thought this was cool. I actually like
<v Speaker 3>this presentation a lot. It It feels very this era
<v Speaker 3>with like you know, yah, loud promos and big logos
<v Speaker 3>like on a just a background. So yes, we first
<v Speaker 3>see Macho Man in front of a black screen with
<v Speaker 3>the Macho Man logo next to him, and Miss Elizabeth
<v Speaker 3>is there, and Macha Man is I'm gonna send the
<v Speaker 3>Honky Tonk Man on the first bus spect to dis Graceland. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>cut right, Elvis one way ticket. Yeah, like, okay, just
<v Speaker 3>say it's the ship.
<v Speaker 2>I it's funny.
<v Speaker 3>The honky Tonk Coman is here now with Jimmy Hart
<v Speaker 3>and they're next to a Honky Tonk Man logo and.
<v Speaker 2>Jimmy Hart has no glasses on and it's fucking with me, dude.
<v Speaker 2>It's cursed Jimmy Hart naked.
<v Speaker 1>Dude without glasses. He is cursed. He is like he
<v Speaker 1>needs to wear glasses. I don't know what it is.
<v Speaker 1>It just looks strange.
<v Speaker 3>Is Jimmy hard to heal more times than his face?
<v Speaker 3>It feels like he has to.
<v Speaker 1>Have been always yeah with the megaphone and all that, right, always,
<v Speaker 1>but most of the time, yeah, with the megaphone loud
<v Speaker 1>and annoying.
<v Speaker 3>Everyone hated him, Like I feel like the most talked
<v Speaker 3>about stuff that he did was with you know him,
<v Speaker 3>being with Hogan obviously, I guess just because that was
<v Speaker 3>you know him and Hogan was a package, I guess.
<v Speaker 3>But like any o, the time I see him, he's
<v Speaker 3>a little asshole with a megaphone with an asshole next door.
<v Speaker 3>So Hockey Talk Man says, uh, macha main keep his
<v Speaker 3>woman satisfied, And you all saw her fall head over
<v Speaker 3>heels over me and he was a lousy tune up
<v Speaker 3>for my guitar. And they show a clip of Honky
<v Speaker 3>Tonk Man hitting Macho Man with a fucking guitar, which
<v Speaker 3>is I mean, top five wrestling weapons, the guitar.
<v Speaker 1>It is great.
<v Speaker 3>Number four is guitar with a bunch of powder.
<v Speaker 2>Inside of him.
<v Speaker 3>Jimmy Hart says, why he is a very lucky man.
<v Speaker 3>He's very lucky. Then you don't play the piano. That
<v Speaker 3>would be weapon number three in vilist if he talk
<v Speaker 3>about carried a piano around and.
<v Speaker 2>Dropped it from the ceiling.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, on the back of it.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, they come out of it tiny with the little
<v Speaker 2>keys and their teeth in their mouth.
<v Speaker 1>It looked like an accord when they come out.
<v Speaker 3>Wow, that'd be a top five weapon for sure. Then
<v Speaker 3>we go to Ted dB and Andre the giant here.
<v Speaker 3>Now to your point, James, you said Jimmy Hart felt
<v Speaker 3>naked with the glasses. Andrea's here straps down felt very.
<v Speaker 2>Naked to me. Yeah, I guess maybe it was annoying
<v Speaker 2>the shit out of him.
<v Speaker 3>I didn't. Well, something happens later with the strap that
<v Speaker 3>I thought was pretty fucking funny. But yeah, dude, it
<v Speaker 3>was like, I was like, wow, he looks I mean,
<v Speaker 3>he looks good. I was wondering what condition he's in,
<v Speaker 3>because I know we talk about like Andrea's you know,
<v Speaker 3>health decline and in physically, uh, and I from it seems,
<v Speaker 3>I mean he's around for four more years. Not here specifically,
<v Speaker 3>he's like wrestling for four more years, but he's showing
<v Speaker 3>signs of the you know, wear and tear obviously.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, well we already passed the Mania match and like, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>he's helped me pretty pretty bad then too, so right, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>as we keep going here, and I mean we see
<v Speaker 2>the match here too, his mobility is sort of it's
<v Speaker 2>definitely not what it was like ten years ago.
<v Speaker 3>Sure, no, so Dbisi and Andre here, and Debiosti says,
<v Speaker 3>I'm the.
<v Speaker 2>Million dollar man.
<v Speaker 1>Just don't know how you do that.
<v Speaker 3>You got to fucking know what this is going on here.
<v Speaker 3>I man, I got the fucking Bundy, and I'm here
<v Speaker 3>with the only true heavyweight champion in the world, Andre
<v Speaker 3>the Giant Haul. Cogan may hold the belt for now,
<v Speaker 3>but after the night that belt will fill around Andre's
<v Speaker 3>waist just as well as Andre's hands fit around Hogan's neck.
<v Speaker 3>And they show a shot of Andre behind goozling Hogan
<v Speaker 3>and choking him to death, which was pretty darly. Uh,
<v Speaker 3>and Andre said, holdgard, okay, order to order guard and
<v Speaker 3>our guard, earn our guard, and he's fucking I mean,
<v Speaker 3>Andrea is a He was kind of awesome.
<v Speaker 1>He was doing it, doing the evil laugh, the money
<v Speaker 1>Man laugh and the.
<v Speaker 3>Walker hold guard. Yeah right, and then Hogan comes on
<v Speaker 3>screen and this dude looks so fucking insane, like this
<v Speaker 3>dude's massive.
<v Speaker 2>Well, it doesn't help that he's green screened, so it
<v Speaker 2>looks up.
<v Speaker 3>Hogan says, when that big nasty giant stuck up behind
<v Speaker 3>me put his field the hands around my neck, I
<v Speaker 3>knew what was fighting for my life, dude, thousands of
<v Speaker 3>miles away. Whole comedie to breathe either.
<v Speaker 1>What I understand that why are they dying?
<v Speaker 3>What's going on the life of Hogan is the life
<v Speaker 3>of all the hoo comaniacs.
<v Speaker 2>Socu is power.
<v Speaker 1>That's where he gets his power from the hull comaniac.
<v Speaker 1>So they were chiping out.
<v Speaker 3>A whole fucking bunch of kids if he dies.
<v Speaker 1>So when he gets body slammed, he's like, I feel it,
<v Speaker 1>you know, because I'm a hull Camina becaus a little kid.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, child, hogans is.
<v Speaker 3>That's why tonight, when I step in the ring with
<v Speaker 3>Android the Giant, the thoughts and the prayers of all
<v Speaker 3>those hulkamaniacs, that's someone with the through the hard times
<v Speaker 3>are going to go in the ring with me and
<v Speaker 3>Andre the Giant with all that on my side, hul
<v Speaker 3>Camania will never die and Hogan flexes and then they
<v Speaker 3>green screen him on top of the crowd shot, which
<v Speaker 3>I thought was cool before we go into the actual
<v Speaker 3>show intro.
<v Speaker 2>So we do get the show intro here. It feels
<v Speaker 2>like an old game show intro.
<v Speaker 3>That's a great way to put it. Yeah, it does.
<v Speaker 2>Like the fucking squares coming in. It's always funny to
<v Speaker 2>see that.
<v Speaker 3>It wasn't used the Evah.
<v Speaker 2>Okay, yeah, this is a super large crowd here, also
<v Speaker 2>in front of just a shit ton of people on TV.
<v Speaker 3>This amount of people does not even think about wrestling,
<v Speaker 3>let alone watch it.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, you can imagine like how these guys became superstars.
<v Speaker 2>Like it wasn't so much, you know, it was really
<v Speaker 2>that the exposure they had was just purely unimaginable by
<v Speaker 2>today's numbers. Like dude, but like there's like at least
<v Speaker 2>thirty million people watching this on TV or something, and
<v Speaker 2>like the idea that they just all get to see
<v Speaker 2>the macho man and like Hogan and Ship like, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>there's no there's there's really no way that you don't
<v Speaker 2>become a superstar being on this show. I imagine the
<v Speaker 2>politiking to get on this fucking show was unbelievable, Like
<v Speaker 2>knowing that this is gonna be like the biggest fucking
<v Speaker 2>show ever for wrestling, right, Yeah, Like, I can't imagine
<v Speaker 2>the backstage going into this one.
<v Speaker 3>Well, maybe you should put me on a couple of
<v Speaker 3>times all this show, dude, I guess I promos to
<v Speaker 3>cut a video back.
<v Speaker 2>Here they fucking green screen when they probably thought that
<v Speaker 2>tech was awesome.
<v Speaker 1>He's like, WHOA.
<v Speaker 2>Put me for the green screen? Will never die? So
<v Speaker 2>we start with Vince McMahon and Jesse Ventura. Here, Vincent
<v Speaker 2>Vatura are in front of the crowd with a live
<v Speaker 2>mic so everyone can hear what they're saying. Also, that's uh,
<v Speaker 2>that's something that doesn't happen anymore. That's usually how they
<v Speaker 2>started the show back in the day.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, why why do you think that is? Do you
<v Speaker 3>think it's just did the crowd not like it? Or
<v Speaker 3>did they not like it?
<v Speaker 2>I guess maybe because it's formatting like a TV show now,
<v Speaker 2>like you know, something like that instead maybe before it
<v Speaker 2>was more like a broadcast and like that. Now it's
<v Speaker 2>like this is an episodic television show. Sure, okay, sit
<v Speaker 2>there and watch it and cheer. So Vincent Ventura, Uh,
<v Speaker 2>they talk about the show. Jesse Ventura is fucking just
<v Speaker 2>out of his mind. I mean, this guy looks insane.
<v Speaker 3>What is he How do you describe what he's wearing here?
<v Speaker 3>It's a leopard print hat.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, he's got a hat. He's got like a little
<v Speaker 2>road piece on there on the top. Yeah, he looks nuts.
<v Speaker 2>He's sitting there with his hat in this row. Bonnie,
<v Speaker 2>he's just saying, fuck you, Cogan. Dude.
<v Speaker 3>Have mcvihn says, I'm here with Jesse. The body just
<v Speaker 3>flew in from Hollywood, and Jesse is happy that he
<v Speaker 3>said this, and vinceays a few comments about tonight's action. McMahon,
<v Speaker 3>fuck you. I don't deal in comments. I deal in facts.
<v Speaker 3>And the fact is this, fuck Hault Cogan. I fucking
<v Speaker 3>ate on.
<v Speaker 2>Decades.
<v Speaker 3>Thank you, Jesse. Yeah, he talks about Andre winning a
<v Speaker 3>year to get his hands on Hogan and the champ
<v Speaker 3>is going down and he predicts it. The crowd boos
<v Speaker 3>this because they can hear him. Now. Jesse mentions here
<v Speaker 3>that the Hard Foundation are going to regain the WF
<v Speaker 3>tag titles tonight, which I thought was interested because this
<v Speaker 3>I feel like he is the only mention of this
<v Speaker 3>on the entire broadcast.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, maybe they didn't even know if they were gonna
<v Speaker 2>be able to get to it or not.
<v Speaker 3>Uh well, I feel like maybe they could have just
<v Speaker 3>got it, like because good Lord, okay, but we'll get there.
<v Speaker 2>Uh.
<v Speaker 3>He also predicts a honky tonk man is gonna send
<v Speaker 3>Macho man back. I don't know what that meant and
<v Speaker 3>what the honky tonk man is going to do to
<v Speaker 3>Elizabeth after not even I know that. McMahon, Hey, fuck you.
<v Speaker 2>M He grasps the mic and done another thing, McMahon.
<v Speaker 2>A lot of the local government here in this city
<v Speaker 2>have been pissing me up.
<v Speaker 1>Oh stop.
<v Speaker 2>Another thing that pisses me off. His whole Cogan, who
<v Speaker 2>here tonight, is going to take too much time and
<v Speaker 2>take away from Brett Hart.
<v Speaker 3>Maybe that's what happened. I don't even consider that. Its
<v Speaker 3>fucking Google Gaga fucked up.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Probably.
<v Speaker 3>Hey, McMahon, is Hogan talk to you about anything lately?
<v Speaker 3>Don't believe him.
<v Speaker 2>It wasn't me.
<v Speaker 1>Right now.
<v Speaker 2>I saw you and Hogan go into a room.
<v Speaker 3>What was that about, Vince says, Uh, the airn Continent
<v Speaker 3>Tunnel matches up next. But right now, we have some
<v Speaker 3>footage on the Hulkster.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, we get a Holkokan training montage. He's slamming and
<v Speaker 2>jamming that iron, if you will. Actually, he's slamming and
<v Speaker 2>jamming this iron so hard and so fast that by
<v Speaker 2>the end of this montage he absolutely loses his fucking mind.
<v Speaker 3>Dude. He like, this is a psychotic outbreak.
<v Speaker 2>Here, Like this is what one scoop of creatin does.
<v Speaker 3>This is a cup of holkarous that gets you in
<v Speaker 3>the fucking place to be here. Hogan is so fucked
<v Speaker 3>out of his mind. I mean like he is the
<v Speaker 3>tennis man I've ever seen. Yeah, I hope this is
<v Speaker 3>his personal gym, because this is a sight to be seen.
<v Speaker 3>Like the cops are getting called if this.
<v Speaker 2>Is a race. This was definitely gold. Yeah oh yeah,
<v Speaker 2>that's right.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>The faces he's making are insane. He changes his outfit
<v Speaker 3>halfway through this. I thought this was just a training session.
<v Speaker 3>Supposedly this is multiple training sessions. The end comes here
<v Speaker 3>where he's he's done working out and he's looking at
<v Speaker 3>himself in the mirror and he's fucking flexing crazy and
<v Speaker 3>he goes.
<v Speaker 2>Ah ah, hooky wasn't doing any fucking dead lifts or anything.
<v Speaker 2>He was an awest setstry work. He yet he was
<v Speaker 2>on the functional trainer for three and a half hours. Yes,
<v Speaker 2>hey man, I just really needed to try set plitch downs.
<v Speaker 2>Fuck off. So me and Jean is in the back
<v Speaker 2>with Honky Tonk Man and Jimmy hart Load and he
<v Speaker 2>talks to him about their upcoming matchday with the macho man.
<v Speaker 3>I mean, Jean, says, Honky Talk. Here we go the
<v Speaker 3>biggest tuntle defense of your career, any trepidation tonight, and
<v Speaker 3>Honkey Talk says, you're no journalist, green Bean, You're missing
<v Speaker 3>the story. The story here is romance, the lovely Elizabeth
<v Speaker 3>And let me cut.
<v Speaker 2>You off right there. Fuck you. By the way, I'm
<v Speaker 2>one of the biggest and best journalists that you have
<v Speaker 2>here in the world. Rests in Federation. You're an assole.
<v Speaker 3>Figure it out.
<v Speaker 2>You're not even Elvis. Look at you. You look in Sae.
<v Speaker 2>If we're up to me, you would take a long
<v Speaker 2>walk off a short period and I could I digress
<v Speaker 2>to now you're facing the matra man. Sorry about that,
<v Speaker 2>but you can we do it again.
<v Speaker 3>We're live.
<v Speaker 2>Anyways, keep going.
<v Speaker 3>Legit. We know, we know she fucking wants to funk
<v Speaker 3>the shit out of you, dude.
<v Speaker 2>We know you've been Elvis for like four years now.
<v Speaker 2>We're all sick of this is dead.
<v Speaker 3>I wish you were as well anyway. Next question, how
<v Speaker 3>do you feel about your chances tonight?
<v Speaker 2>We're live.
<v Speaker 3>Jimmy Arden says, even this bozo could see it. She
<v Speaker 3>wants you honkying. Honky says, I'm gonna oblige her being
<v Speaker 3>the gentleman I am, and Mean says, what are you saying, man,
<v Speaker 3>what are you saying?
<v Speaker 2>I hate you?
<v Speaker 3>Die? Honky says, I got the title, I've I've got
<v Speaker 3>the title, I got the belt. And to night, I'm
<v Speaker 3>gonna get the woman, the lonely woman. And mean Jean says,
<v Speaker 3>oh no, Jimmy says, and we're gonna take her, Honky,
<v Speaker 3>and mean Jane says, where are you going to take her? Honkey?
<v Speaker 3>And Honkey says, I'm gonna take her down the lonely
<v Speaker 3>street to the Heartbreak hotel and mean she says this, Wow,
<v Speaker 3>I hate this. This. You gotta be funing ken to me, buddy.
<v Speaker 2>Enough of this, I'll be honest.
<v Speaker 3>Jimmy says, you know what, you know what the hound
<v Speaker 3>dogs are going to be, and mean, he says, where
<v Speaker 3>where is it gonna be? Where the hound dogs? And
<v Speaker 3>Honckey Talking Man says in the good too, Jean says, Oh,
<v Speaker 3>I hope the real Elvis doesn't hear that, and I
<v Speaker 3>hope you die.
<v Speaker 2>I do like that they don't act like this dude
<v Speaker 2>is Elvis. He's just impersonating Elvis.
<v Speaker 3>I mean, Jesse, even Turry pretty much all the commentary
<v Speaker 3>says he's the second coming of Elvis, so like, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>like he's the.
<v Speaker 2>Because it very easily could have been, Hey, this is Elvis.
<v Speaker 3>Elvis is wrestling now, right, but it was it was that.
<v Speaker 2>He was impersonating Elvis, and that's what made him yeah
<v Speaker 2>right right, so that, you know, I got to give
<v Speaker 2>a thumbs up on that. So we go to Honky
<v Speaker 2>talk Man's entrance. He makes his entrance with then girlfriend
<v Speaker 2>and still girlfriend.
<v Speaker 3>I guess Peggy, who is fine with him wanting to
<v Speaker 3>fuck miss Elizabeth.
<v Speaker 2>I guess cucking your wife in the eighties is fine.
<v Speaker 3>Record invented and so dude, one thing I like about
<v Speaker 3>I guess this isn't like a Justice era thing, but
<v Speaker 3>it feels like it happened more during this era. The
<v Speaker 3>tight like guardrails, so they had to have like security
<v Speaker 3>or cops come down with the dudes, like the.
<v Speaker 1>Cops were always awesome.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I thought that was a cool look. It made
<v Speaker 3>him feel like a big fucking deal, like.
<v Speaker 1>Oh stuff, don't touch this wrestling.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know your brain's out, funny dude.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I thought that made him feel like a big deal,
<v Speaker 3>like they would like have to have people there to
<v Speaker 3>stop the fans from jumping all over them.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I thought it was cool. At ec W they had
<v Speaker 1>cops to it because it's just like a crazy place
<v Speaker 1>that was.
<v Speaker 2>Just for Philadelphia.
<v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, but I think that's crazy too. You know,
<v Speaker 1>they got cops here this because nar Yea his place
<v Speaker 1>is bread.
<v Speaker 3>Uh.
<v Speaker 2>So we go backstage here Macha Man and Miss liz
<v Speaker 2>Or with Mean Jean and the Hockey Talk Man. Music
<v Speaker 2>just won't duck. So Macha Man's is doing a bunch
<v Speaker 2>of theatrics to the hockey talk Dude.
<v Speaker 1>He's trying to talk, but they don't cut. They don't
<v Speaker 1>play his audio. It's just the doggy dog stave.
<v Speaker 2>Dude.
<v Speaker 3>It sounds like the song is winding down to like
<v Speaker 3>it gets to the end of the song and they
<v Speaker 3>played out and then I got alongside Burns, like, hey,
<v Speaker 3>turn that ship off. What the fuck is going on here?
<v Speaker 3>Mean Jane says Elizabeth. The honky talk man said, yes,
<v Speaker 3>plans for you. Are you worried? Then Macho Man stops say,
<v Speaker 3>wait a minute, mean Gene, I'm just a honky dog
<v Speaker 3>man man. When we that ring, we know the danger zone.
<v Speaker 3>In the danger zone, Macho min rules, Elizabeth does nothing
<v Speaker 3>to worry about in the honky tonk man is everything
<v Speaker 3>to worry about.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, and that's right.
<v Speaker 3>And mean Jen says, what about the claims he's made,
<v Speaker 3>and macho Man says, it's a fuel of fire for
<v Speaker 3>the mucha man fuel of fire and heat is on
<v Speaker 3>And what he did to Elizabeth Mucia mances everybody's gonna
<v Speaker 3>be watching Mucho menns tonight and I guarantee you turned.
<v Speaker 2>He turned.
<v Speaker 3>He turned fucking musical? Can we get fucking can't at
<v Speaker 3>least done this fucking musical before I bunched me dead
<v Speaker 3>hockey dungue man, vengeance is mind seeth the mochio man
<v Speaker 3>bit on me man all the way Elizabeth down the aisle,
<v Speaker 3>he goes off screen. Macho men's the best.
<v Speaker 2>Man, Like this guy's the goat.
<v Speaker 1>He is cool, he's awesome.
<v Speaker 2>He zoomed in on this dude, and this is the
<v Speaker 2>most red man I've ever seen.
<v Speaker 1>He is so red.
<v Speaker 3>He's sweating. Yeah, he's sweating and fucking beat red.
<v Speaker 2>He also exits the scene and the most belligerent way
<v Speaker 2>I've ever seen a persons scene. He's just like saying
<v Speaker 2>ship and looking directly at the camera and he walks
<v Speaker 2>away backwards.
<v Speaker 3>But still talking.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>So we had the Hockey Top Man versus Macho Man
<v Speaker 2>Randy Savage Intercontinental Championship match. Here is the first schedule
<v Speaker 2>about here for the main events. We come back to
<v Speaker 2>the ring and Peggy Sue is still dancing to this
<v Speaker 2>dude's fucking music. It's been like six or seven minutes.
<v Speaker 1>I feel like he.
<v Speaker 3>Can't turn it off. If there's a funk up in
<v Speaker 3>the production truck. He's gonna have honkey talk music all night.
<v Speaker 1>No, it's like du jack matches. You go there, so
<v Speaker 1>I just play. He's got a guitar basically ship.
<v Speaker 3>That's crazy idea that he.
<v Speaker 1>Wants a honkyunk man.
<v Speaker 2>He's a honkey so Liz goes to get in the ring,
<v Speaker 2>but Macho stops her because the Honky Tonk Man is
<v Speaker 2>goading her on He's a weird bastard, and Jimmy Hart
<v Speaker 2>starts distracting the Macha Man on the apron So Honky
<v Speaker 2>talk Man tries to riz Liz with the dance he's jiving.
<v Speaker 2>He's doing that little finger point dance he loves to do. Yeah. Uh,
<v Speaker 2>Macha Man is now chasing Honkey talk Man around the arena.
<v Speaker 3>Jesse Vatura thinks that Elizabeth enjoys. Elizabeth gave Honky a
<v Speaker 3>big smile on mc man said no, no, I did
<v Speaker 3>see that.
<v Speaker 2>So Macha Man finally gets his hands on the Honckey
<v Speaker 2>talk Man and immediately Honky tok Man starts bumping all
<v Speaker 2>around for the Macho Man. This is awesome, Honckey top Man,
<v Speaker 2>trust a sunset flip Macho Man, but Macha Man doesn't
<v Speaker 2>fall over and then punches him. Dude, I love that
<v Speaker 2>Honky tok Man. Literally cannot do anything to him unless
<v Speaker 2>there is an absolute reason why. Even on the where
<v Speaker 2>you think we're going to the cutoff, yes, like he
<v Speaker 2>still gets back up right. It's like a fake cutoff
<v Speaker 2>right every time.
<v Speaker 3>Unless some nefarious thing happens first to give him the advantage.
<v Speaker 3>He's not having an advantage.
<v Speaker 2>Right Like, at any given point, if the babyface is
<v Speaker 2>not getting cheated, they're up. Like, that's just old school
<v Speaker 2>American wrestling, right. If the babyface isn't given a reason
<v Speaker 2>to be down, then they're up. Like, and I thought
<v Speaker 2>that played off well here.
<v Speaker 3>I mean, it works perfectly here, Jims, because like I mean,
<v Speaker 3>the crowd is here for every bit of this, like
<v Speaker 3>everything Honky has, like you would if this was the
<v Speaker 3>only match on the show, you could believe Tonk Man
<v Speaker 3>is the biggest heel in wrestling history, like they are.
<v Speaker 3>They hate this fucking dude, and they love the Macho Man.
<v Speaker 2>Macha Man chases Jimmy Hart again, which allows Honky tonk
<v Speaker 2>Man to grab the megaphone and hit Macho Man with
<v Speaker 2>it instead, account.
<v Speaker 3>Bitch, dude. Something super impressive that Macha Man does a
<v Speaker 3>lot like he does it as a move and he
<v Speaker 3>does it just to fucking go to the floor. Jumping
<v Speaker 3>from the ring over the rope to the fucking floor
<v Speaker 3>is crazy looking.
<v Speaker 2>He's a big dude, Yeah, they just I mean, the
<v Speaker 2>athleticism is nutsier. Machup Man was way Maybe that's why
<v Speaker 2>he was so over too. Is he was just like
<v Speaker 2>way different than the guys that were on top of
<v Speaker 2>the ww al Yeah the time, way different. Yeah. So,
<v Speaker 2>Honky Tonk locks in a chin lock while Peggy Sue
<v Speaker 2>is still dancing at ringsides. She just can't stop emoting.
<v Speaker 2>Honky Talk takes control and does a little dance for
<v Speaker 2>Elizabeth while Jimmy Hart chokes out macho man behind him.
<v Speaker 3>He's serenading Elizabeth look what she say? And Jesse Ventura
<v Speaker 3>is is a super pro hockey talk man. Jesse does
<v Speaker 3>a great job here on commentary. By the way, I
<v Speaker 3>think he's a great asshole announcer.
<v Speaker 2>He is very good. I think so too, Like he's
<v Speaker 2>good at picking his spots and he's good at protecting
<v Speaker 2>things too.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I think so too.
<v Speaker 2>The crowd is chanting Randy as he starts fighting back
<v Speaker 2>with some jabs, but hockey Ton goes low and hits
<v Speaker 2>the line to take back over.
<v Speaker 3>Fucking bitch.
<v Speaker 2>Hockey Tong hits the multiple elbow drops goes to the
<v Speaker 2>outside towards Liz. Here, the crowd is going fucking hissed mad. Yeah, dude,
<v Speaker 2>like Macha Man's down and he's he's stalking Liz on
<v Speaker 2>the outside and the.
<v Speaker 3>Closing in on the other side too, like they're fucking
<v Speaker 3>about to both collide and do something nefarious here and
<v Speaker 3>Macho Man is struggling to get up, and.
<v Speaker 2>Macha Man comes from behind and hits the Honky Tonk
<v Speaker 2>Man and the crowd just goes nuts. Here hockey Ton
<v Speaker 2>gets the back of the ring and begs off.
<v Speaker 3>Oh that was so fucking dude. His beg off was
<v Speaker 3>like the such a fuck you Like you could hear
<v Speaker 3>the whole crowd go ah, yes, yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Macha Man doesn't even entertain it though, He just kicks
<v Speaker 2>him and throws him back to the outside. Macha Man
<v Speaker 2>then hits his pad to double axe handle from the
<v Speaker 2>top rope to the floor straight on his leg.
<v Speaker 3>Fine, were we just talking about those show or we're
<v Speaker 3>just talking about that like together, but like, yeah, the
<v Speaker 3>Macho Man double axe to the floor or off a cage,
<v Speaker 3>like oh.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah the cage, Like no thought, just fucking on a
<v Speaker 2>rock this, I.
<v Speaker 3>Mean, I'm doing my move, Like what the fuck?
<v Speaker 2>Jimmy Hart gets on the apron, Macha Man pulls him
<v Speaker 2>into the ring. Ye Honckey Tot goes for a knee,
<v Speaker 2>but Macho Man moves the knee hits Jimmy Hart, who
<v Speaker 2>bumps to the outside. Macha Man gets a sleeper on
<v Speaker 2>Honky tok Man, but Peggy Sue was now getting in
<v Speaker 2>Elizabeth's face on the outside.
<v Speaker 3>Huge pop for the sleeper hole. Sleeper was a fucking
<v Speaker 3>over move in nineteen eighty eight.
<v Speaker 2>Macho Man breaks up the sleeper and goes out to
<v Speaker 2>protect Elizabeth. Here, Honky tok Man chases after him, but
<v Speaker 2>Macho Man throws him straight into the turnbuckle post. Yez, Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I like that. Uh, Like I mentioned earlier where sometimes
<v Speaker 2>you would think these cutoffs are coming, but they actually don't.
<v Speaker 2>Like Honky tonk Man chases after him, you think, okay,
<v Speaker 2>the distraction causes the cutoff, but it doesn't. Like he
<v Speaker 2>he goes out there and then Macha Man still gets
<v Speaker 2>up on him.
<v Speaker 3>I think, yeah, because he's a he's a you know,
<v Speaker 3>he's a champion, but he's a champion because he's a
<v Speaker 3>fucking he finds a way. He's not the smart one
<v Speaker 3>of the of the bunch.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's just really well done work and it's like
<v Speaker 2>super like the crowd is just super into it.
<v Speaker 3>It's simple, but it's fucking working.
<v Speaker 2>Because the baby face should always look good, right, the
<v Speaker 2>baby face should always be the guy that, like you
<v Speaker 2>want to see do the shit, And like there was
<v Speaker 2>the control seg in the middle there where he does
<v Speaker 2>get him down, but now it's like, Okay, I lost
<v Speaker 2>control and now the Macha Man's fucking kicking my ass.
<v Speaker 3>And the baby always should be better at the wrestling
<v Speaker 3>part two.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, unless the heels gimmick is I'm a better wrestler,
<v Speaker 2>sure of course. Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>Uh.
<v Speaker 2>The ref counts to ten as Macha Man gets back
<v Speaker 2>in the ring after Macha Man threw him into a
<v Speaker 2>turnbuckle post, and we get to count out victory here
<v Speaker 2>for the Macho Man.
<v Speaker 3>Yes, but of course, as uh Jesse Ventura says McMahon,
<v Speaker 3>Mocho Man may have gotten the victory, but that's a
<v Speaker 3>count out, McMahon. That title doesn't change hands.
<v Speaker 2>So Hockey Talk Man grabs a guitar and stalks Macho
<v Speaker 2>Man with it at the end here for a while, Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>a long while. He's like, you do that's crazy, dude.
<v Speaker 3>They're having like a standoff in the ring, like slowly
<v Speaker 3>moving around his hockey talks.
<v Speaker 2>You fucking think I'm gonna hit you with his guitar.
<v Speaker 1>Don't, don't, don't do it.
<v Speaker 2>Jimmy Hart then hits Macho Man from behind with his megaphone.
<v Speaker 2>Fuck asshole. Hockey Tok goes to hit Macha Man with
<v Speaker 2>the guitar, but Elizabeth jumps in the ring and gets
<v Speaker 2>in front of him to save him.
<v Speaker 3>Dude, I totally expected a guitar shot to Elizabeth here
<v Speaker 3>me too.
<v Speaker 2>I expected until Vince said he was gonna.
<v Speaker 3>Hit her and then yeah, but like what an unreal
<v Speaker 3>amount of heat that would have been? Like that might
<v Speaker 3>have been a riot?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean that shit. Look fuck that guitar was
<v Speaker 2>like not Jared Gimmick.
<v Speaker 3>Breaks it, It takes like a'll bitt it.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah it was. Fuck. Hockey Tok goes to swing,
<v Speaker 2>but Macho Man stops it with his hands and then
<v Speaker 2>grabs the guitar and chases him out of the ring
<v Speaker 2>with it.
<v Speaker 3>Fucking some of them, bitch, let me play a song mail,
<v Speaker 3>I'm a honky tonk man.
<v Speaker 2>So Macha Man then breaks the guitar on the turnbuckle
<v Speaker 2>and he hits it the first time and it doesn't
<v Speaker 2>bust through the back. My thought is, wow, if you
<v Speaker 2>hit her with that, she would have like, I mean,
<v Speaker 2>it would have busted her ass open the long way.
<v Speaker 3>We fuck, it would have annihilated her. You should see
<v Speaker 3>this and hit Geek Rubberts with this specific guitar.
<v Speaker 2>So Macha man helps Liz into the ring and then
<v Speaker 2>raises her arm and puts Liz on his shoulder, to
<v Speaker 2>a massive reaction from the crowding.
<v Speaker 3>And I don't know, because they popped for Macho holding
<v Speaker 3>the ropes for her to get into the ring. I
<v Speaker 3>don't know if he just never let her into the ring,
<v Speaker 3>that's what it felt like.
<v Speaker 1>And he finally like, yeah, it did feel welcomed.
<v Speaker 3>Her into like let her come into his place of
<v Speaker 3>work whatever it was. Yeah, crowd out, Yeah, Like because
<v Speaker 3>that's Vince. When he does that, Vince like, oh, I
<v Speaker 3>can't believe it. Look at this, just him letting her
<v Speaker 3>into the ring. I was like, wow, this is a
<v Speaker 3>big fucking moment.
<v Speaker 1>And then great too. She was like super bashful, like
<v Speaker 1>what am I doing here? And then he put her on.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, and then he hoists her up onto her his
<v Speaker 3>shoulder and like she's like, super bashful is a great
<v Speaker 3>way to put it in the crowds losing their mind.
<v Speaker 3>I'm like, wow, this is like the purest wrestling thing
<v Speaker 3>I've ever seen.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, the American Dream right here.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, dude, like this is awesome.
<v Speaker 2>You got your best gal in the ring and you
<v Speaker 2>you just want via count out here in front of
<v Speaker 2>thirty billion people, the largest crowd in wrestling history.
<v Speaker 1>Thirty three millionaire watching at home as well.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, so you got to a pre tape, Vincent, Uh,
<v Speaker 2>Jesse Ventura take us to the Pontiac Silver in March
<v Speaker 2>of nineteen eighty seven, which was the previous year here,
<v Speaker 2>and it shows us Andre versus Hogan.
<v Speaker 3>I guess the build to this is that the Heels
<v Speaker 3>are disputing that Andre beat Hogan at Mania, and they
<v Speaker 3>show the clip here and it's Hogan trying to pick
<v Speaker 3>up Andre, maybe the first time in the match that
<v Speaker 3>he did it, and Andre, you know, big Man squashes
<v Speaker 3>him and lays on top of him, and Jesse Ventura
<v Speaker 3>says that it was a three count there that while
<v Speaker 3>Andre was on top of Hogan, and Vince and Hogan
<v Speaker 3>everyone else disputes that.
<v Speaker 2>So I love the footage where you can't see if
<v Speaker 2>the ref's counting or not.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, it was actually pretty Jesse.
<v Speaker 2>There's no damn replays in wrestling football.
<v Speaker 3>Let's go to the footage, so they show more of
<v Speaker 3>the build here at the Capital Center in January of
<v Speaker 3>this year of eighty eight. Hogan, I guess I just
<v Speaker 3>want to match. Andre runs into the well Ron, I
<v Speaker 3>guess he's putting it nicely. Yeah, he got into the
<v Speaker 3>ring as fast as he could in a suit, and
<v Speaker 3>he grabs Hogan by the back of his head and
<v Speaker 3>head butts him and then goozles him from behind. And
<v Speaker 3>that's kind of what started the things off here. Then
<v Speaker 3>at the Colisseum in nineteen eighty eight, they have a
<v Speaker 3>contract signing on a very tiny table. This is like
<v Speaker 3>a table you just have ad a nice house that
<v Speaker 3>they use for this contract signing.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, you're right, like a kitchen slab table, yes, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>And it's tiny as fuck.
<v Speaker 3>They like are Brankley, like knows the nose it feels like.
<v Speaker 3>And Dbassi is there and he says, uh, well, now
<v Speaker 3>you sign the contract. Andre, put your official stamp of
<v Speaker 3>approval on it, and Hogan and Andre both standing.
<v Speaker 2>Now hold on a minute, Andre, don't sign anything from
<v Speaker 2>the WWF. McMahon I see what you're trying to do, PAULK.
<v Speaker 2>Hogan's in the ring. I see it.
<v Speaker 3>Read the fine print.
<v Speaker 2>Andre. I'm just saying, maybe don't sign anything without reading it.
<v Speaker 3>Oh, well, that sucks McMahon.
<v Speaker 2>You got him.
<v Speaker 3>So dB tells him to put the official stamp of
<v Speaker 3>approval on it on the contract, and Hogan lungeons for
<v Speaker 3>Dbasi and Andre grabs him and slams Hogan headfirst onto
<v Speaker 3>the table, which also glues Hulcogan's hands to the table
<v Speaker 3>because Andre flips the table over and Hogan goes flying
<v Speaker 3>backwards with it.
<v Speaker 2>Dude.
<v Speaker 1>He grabs that table for life, and he's like, I'm
<v Speaker 1>gonna have this go on top of me.
<v Speaker 2>Ah, his hands laying right on that carpet strip. Bro,
<v Speaker 2>he stuck to it. So we got backstage. Me and
<v Speaker 2>Gene is here with Andre Virgil and Ted Dbiassi.
<v Speaker 3>Uh.
<v Speaker 2>Virgil has a ten dollars money spread here, which is awesome, dude.
<v Speaker 3>Okay, it definitely was like low budget, like low numbers.
<v Speaker 3>I don't know if it was once it looked like
<v Speaker 3>fucking ones, which is fucking hilarious.
<v Speaker 1>It's funny. He's just standing there with the money spread,
<v Speaker 1>not saying a word, just looking straight at the camera.
<v Speaker 2>He looks good, dude. Wow his yeah, dude, his buys
<v Speaker 2>and tries are huge. Healer's great.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah dude. Okay. I wonder if, like, either the joke
<v Speaker 3>is that he has ones and everyone's supposed to know it,
<v Speaker 3>or the quality of TV's back then, they were like, oh,
<v Speaker 3>just fucking get ones.
<v Speaker 2>They'll maybe, I mean, Bill's look different back then. It
<v Speaker 2>could have been right, yeah, that would make a lot
<v Speaker 2>more sense. Or it could have been money man money.
<v Speaker 2>It's like ten Dvasi's face, or I like to.
<v Speaker 1>Think Virgil had to bring his own money. They're like,
<v Speaker 1>you got to get the money to night, all right,
<v Speaker 1>got ten?
<v Speaker 2>He reaches it in his pocket. I have ten dollars.
<v Speaker 2>All right, we'll hold it up, spread it out. Don't
<v Speaker 2>close up on this.
<v Speaker 3>Mean Gane says, gentlemen, tonight you have a chance with
<v Speaker 3>the WA Championship. Your comments and andres standing back there,
<v Speaker 3>he does have the strap up, by the way, and
<v Speaker 3>Debasi says, chance, Andre's aren't in champ He beat Hogan
<v Speaker 3>to wrestling eight three until the referee obviously a hul Camron.
<v Speaker 2>I like that Camron. He should have sold at the restaurant.
<v Speaker 1>That's good.
<v Speaker 3>Cheated on the three count, but this time Virgil will
<v Speaker 3>keep an eye on the referee. And Devasta said that
<v Speaker 3>coward has run from Andre for a year, and tonight
<v Speaker 3>he meets the Giant and the rest is history. Mean,
<v Speaker 3>Gene says, obviously you're confident. Obviously the Giant is ready,
<v Speaker 3>and ten says, of course, He's had the finest training
<v Speaker 3>at the finest facilities that money could find. And you know,
<v Speaker 3>money makes the man, and it takes big money to
<v Speaker 3>batch up to a big man like.
<v Speaker 2>This, and you know it means Geen, I like money.
<v Speaker 2>Did you know that, Mike? Is that I have and enjoy?
<v Speaker 2>Money means Gean? Is that I on the money man?
<v Speaker 2>Do you like that?
<v Speaker 3>I understand?
<v Speaker 2>Does that work for you?
<v Speaker 3>The fucking Devasi says Hulk Hogan is always with them,
<v Speaker 3>Hulk of morons, Nickel and dime them, and Hogan is
<v Speaker 3>small change compared to Andre the Giant. Do you understand
<v Speaker 3>that I like money? Your count is overdrawing Hogan, and
<v Speaker 3>Andre is gonna close it.
<v Speaker 2>I have, buddy, your account is over on Hogan and Andrew,
<v Speaker 2>You're gonna close it. Andre, say something about money. I'm
<v Speaker 2>gonna twist his head off, rip it off, hip down
<v Speaker 2>his neck. Could you add some of my money? Oh?
<v Speaker 2>I like money? All right?
<v Speaker 3>Cool?
<v Speaker 2>All right, yeah, we're ready for it makes me happy. Okay, cool,
<v Speaker 2>thank you man. All right, We're gonna head out of
<v Speaker 2>the ring. So you got to Andre at the Giant's entrance.
<v Speaker 2>Andre megs his interest with Teddy Biassi and Virgil and
<v Speaker 2>I mean, I gotta say, big fight, feel here, pretty
<v Speaker 2>big match for a TV special. I mean Andre versus
<v Speaker 2>Hogan rematch from Mania free on in front of yeah
<v Speaker 2>free on TV on one of the biggest networks around.
<v Speaker 2>You know, you either watched this or the local news,
<v Speaker 2>So pick one. So we go backstage. Ho, Cogin is
<v Speaker 2>here with Mean Gene and uh, I mean he is
<v Speaker 2>freaking out.
<v Speaker 3>He's I mean like yeah, like, I guess this is why,
<v Speaker 3>I mean, like I could see how wrestling got popular,
<v Speaker 3>like because like these dudes are like, how do you
<v Speaker 3>not watch this? These guys are fucking crazy.
<v Speaker 1>They're insane.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, like, I mean, especially yeah, Macha Man and Hogan.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah. So yeah, as James said, Vince sends it back
<v Speaker 3>to me Gien and Hogan. Meanian says apparently holkcan Andre
<v Speaker 3>the Giant has millions of reasons to become double a champion,
<v Speaker 3>and Hogan says, well, with all the controversies from wrestling
<v Speaker 3>a three mean gene, I've tried to keep an open mind, man,
<v Speaker 3>But I viewed the film one thousand and one times,
<v Speaker 3>Andre the Giant. You only had me down for a
<v Speaker 3>duke count. I slammed you and beat you one two
<v Speaker 3>three right in the middle. Maybe the prayers, the vitamins
<v Speaker 3>and the training is small. Change to you in multimillion
<v Speaker 3>is small. This is fucking funny. I don't know why
<v Speaker 3>he does this the whole time.
<v Speaker 2>It threw me off.
<v Speaker 3>It's small change to you, multimillion dollar man. He calls
<v Speaker 3>him multi million dollar man the whole time. Hey, you fuck,
<v Speaker 3>that's not his fucking gimmick.
<v Speaker 1>If we love that would have been a sweaky I get.
<v Speaker 1>I'm not a million dollar man. I'm a multimillion dollar man.
<v Speaker 1>I don't think he ever did that, right, He never
<v Speaker 1>The Hogan was just calling him.
<v Speaker 2>See this is good. He's talking about money.
<v Speaker 3>You can learn something here, he says. But I've invested
<v Speaker 3>my three assets wisely in a lifelong profit sharing plan
<v Speaker 3>with all my little Holkster's brother, I'm gonna.
<v Speaker 2>Time shared with.
<v Speaker 1>It's a it's a pyramid. You know, I'm not the
<v Speaker 1>talk to all the other people at the bottom of it.
<v Speaker 2>It makes sure go down economics.
<v Speaker 3>Brother, Oh, it's a Virgil. You watch the referee. That's cool.
<v Speaker 3>All my Hoka maniacs are gonna be watching you. Then
<v Speaker 3>Andre the Giant, one on one with the whole ward watching,
<v Speaker 3>I'm gonna prove to you that I could beat you,
<v Speaker 3>and Hulkamania will live forever. And he doesn't fucking bicep
<v Speaker 3>flex and he fucking slides backwards out of the frame.
<v Speaker 2>Dude, the way that he goes out is so funny.
<v Speaker 2>I love the way that everyone is like, make an exit.
<v Speaker 2>Leave it these seeds. Yeah, it's very funny.
<v Speaker 3>All right.
<v Speaker 2>So Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan here. I don't know,
<v Speaker 2>h is this the first appearance of the winged Eagle?
<v Speaker 2>I think, so, oh, well, did you see the promo? Like,
<v Speaker 2>I don't know if you guys got this, but the
<v Speaker 2>promo Hogan cuts. He's usually he has the old belt
<v Speaker 2>on his waist, he's got.
<v Speaker 1>The hook comes and then he comes out. He has
<v Speaker 1>the winged Eagle which I assuming they just changed, like
<v Speaker 1>because he cut the promo whenever, right with that old belt,
<v Speaker 1>the Hogan belt. And then when he actually came out
<v Speaker 1>with the Winged Eagle.
<v Speaker 3>Oh this is this is the debut with the Winged
<v Speaker 3>Eagle appeared on Fibruary first, nineteen eighty eight, during the
<v Speaker 3>main of Yeah, during the show.
<v Speaker 2>Wow, no shit, dude, Okay. I looked at it. I said, wow,
<v Speaker 2>what Yeah, that's okay, cool shout.
<v Speaker 3>I was, dude. I wasn't like, I didn't even think
<v Speaker 3>of that. Yeah, wow, that's fucking awesome.
<v Speaker 2>But yeah, So anyways, first appearance of the Winged Eagle
<v Speaker 2>belt here, pretty cool, looks great, in great condition. Hogan
<v Speaker 2>hasn't had a chance to throw it straight.
<v Speaker 3>On a concrete He tried, He dude, what's with this guy?
<v Speaker 3>He always he doesn't fuck with the belts.
<v Speaker 2>There's a little proper.
<v Speaker 1>Dude, he does not care.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, Hogan immediately threatens to break it over Andre's head.
<v Speaker 2>Hey wait, wait, wait wait wait, this is brand fucking new.
<v Speaker 3>Why can't I blatantly attack this guy with the title
<v Speaker 3>right now?
<v Speaker 2>Ben should have done with the NWA did and make
<v Speaker 2>you put like twenty five thousand dollars down to carry
<v Speaker 2>around the belt, and if you broke the belt, you'd
<v Speaker 2>have to pay the money.
<v Speaker 3>For Yeah, your little deposit. Fuck you don't get this
<v Speaker 3>bag of his cars?
<v Speaker 2>Dude? Yeah?
<v Speaker 3>What was Hogan thinking here? I didn't understand this at all.
<v Speaker 3>Like I get that he's pissed. He charges down to
<v Speaker 3>the ring, has the belt over his head like a
<v Speaker 3>fucking barbarian, and referee very specifically pointing out Dave Hebner
<v Speaker 3>stops him and takes the belt from Hogan, and Hogan
<v Speaker 3>is standing there like pouting and is surprised by this.
<v Speaker 3>Why the fuck can't I beat this dude? The ship
<v Speaker 3>with the belt?
<v Speaker 1>Dude?
<v Speaker 2>What the fuck? Dude? Every time I feel like every
<v Speaker 2>time we've seen Hogan recently and the matches that we watch,
<v Speaker 2>he is threatening to break the.
<v Speaker 3>Title and doing IRA exactly.
<v Speaker 2>I mean the one against Sargeant Slaughter where he threw
<v Speaker 2>it straight into the air and let it fall on
<v Speaker 2>the concrete was absolutely unhavy. Man, that's nuts.
<v Speaker 3>He doesn't care about these belts. Oh, come on, man,
<v Speaker 3>these are expensive.
<v Speaker 2>So Dbassi and Vergil are talking Andre here before the
<v Speaker 2>match starts, and Hogan ends up just saying fuck it
<v Speaker 2>and running at Andre at a hot starting well, take
<v Speaker 2>so long here, and it plays theme song the whole
<v Speaker 2>time they do it must have been.
<v Speaker 3>Because they hated Bret Hart.
<v Speaker 2>They had to be. Hogan said, keep my song playing.
<v Speaker 3>I got a lot of pandamim again.
<v Speaker 2>Got gotta dude, dude, keep the fucking song on.
<v Speaker 3>But yeah, it goes forever, and like Andrea's on the apron,
<v Speaker 3>he takes forever to get in.
<v Speaker 2>Uh.
<v Speaker 3>They're talking on commentary about referee Joey Morella. I think
<v Speaker 3>he was the referee earlier for the Icy title match,
<v Speaker 3>but he was the referee, uh for sure at the
<v Speaker 3>Many three match in Jesse Ventorius. You know what, McMahon,
<v Speaker 3>I feel very good about this, So Dave Hebner is
<v Speaker 3>referring this match, not Joey Morella. I feel very good.
<v Speaker 3>I fucking hate Joey Morella, and you know what, fuck.
<v Speaker 2>Him, dude, Hogan. Also, I love this match. Every time
<v Speaker 2>Hogan rakes the eyes, dude, Jesse Ventura says, and how
<v Speaker 2>is that legal? Mcman mcmahn, you like that? What the
<v Speaker 2>fuck he does?
<v Speaker 3>Here?
<v Speaker 2>He goes again, McMahon, dude, he does na Davi v
<v Speaker 2>Tura says it every time that he does it. Everything
<v Speaker 2>time open. There he goes again with the raking of
<v Speaker 2>the eyes.
<v Speaker 3>Vince has no answer for it because he's probably like, dude,
<v Speaker 3>why is he fucking doing that? Like Hogan is doing.
<v Speaker 2>He's the only babyface I've seen in the WWF at
<v Speaker 2>the top that rakes the eyes as consistently as this.
<v Speaker 3>I swear. At one point he runs off the ropes
<v Speaker 3>and rakes his eyes.
<v Speaker 2>Oh, here he goes again.
<v Speaker 3>Hey McMahon, what the fuck he's cheeting McMahon, What are
<v Speaker 3>you doing? What else is he doing back there? Talking
<v Speaker 3>to you?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah? What did you you guys have a meeting or
<v Speaker 2>something earlier? What was that?
<v Speaker 3>Did the eyes? And also not just started eating?
<v Speaker 2>So Dbasi everg or talking to Andre Hogan hot starts.
<v Speaker 2>He brings both of them in, Virgil and Ted Dbiassi
<v Speaker 2>kicks their fucking asses, two big boots to both of them.
<v Speaker 2>They both go flying over the top, right.
<v Speaker 3>Know how that works, big boot that you go over
<v Speaker 3>the top rope on, That's cool, I'll take that ship.
<v Speaker 3>Was hot?
<v Speaker 2>Crowd said hell yeah, nuts, Yeah, they went nuts. Hogan
<v Speaker 2>is now taking the heat to Andre with some punches
<v Speaker 2>here Andre is selling very very good selling for Andre,
<v Speaker 2>very good stuff. Here, Hogan does a Mongolian chop to Andre.
<v Speaker 2>He's just try and ship at this point, it.
<v Speaker 3>Is he's trying to think, what can I do other
<v Speaker 3>punches and chops? Sorry, Mogullian chop?
<v Speaker 2>How about it? Maybe I should go for this. So
<v Speaker 2>Hogan tries to knock him down with the running elbow,
<v Speaker 2>tries to hit the axe bomber. Nothing is getting them
<v Speaker 2>down here. Hogan then knocks dB I see off the
<v Speaker 2>apron and he kicks him and the money goes funny
<v Speaker 2>everywhere like sonic rings. I thought that was awesome. He
<v Speaker 2>stopped on his head, yes, yes, okay, he got him
<v Speaker 2>off the apron, and when he was down there he
<v Speaker 2>kicked him again.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, that was fucking He walks over, stops on Debassi's hand.
<v Speaker 3>You can't see the money, and Dbasi's hands goes up
<v Speaker 3>and Buddy goes flying. Ah, dude, that is fucking so awesome.
<v Speaker 2>So Hogan rakes Andre's eyes and then hits the line
<v Speaker 2>in the corner. Do you see what's happening, McMahon. So
<v Speaker 2>Hogan then winds up a punch and then it rakes
<v Speaker 2>the eyes again. McMahon, what is happening?
<v Speaker 3>Man? What the fuck?
<v Speaker 2>Maybe Dave Hebner wasn't a great choice. Mcman him for it.
<v Speaker 2>So Hogan goes to the top rope and Andre cuts
<v Speaker 2>him off and throws him off. Andre, dude, yeah, and
<v Speaker 2>then Andre, you're right, he's it. I'm going right, Claire,
<v Speaker 2>tonight go to the distance, brother. So Andre walks out
<v Speaker 2>of the corner here. Uh and then all right, hold on,
<v Speaker 2>hold on, let me set this up, let me set
<v Speaker 2>this up a little bit, please please. So Hogan goes
<v Speaker 2>to the top rope like Flair. Andre cuts him up
<v Speaker 2>like Flaire. And then Andre walks out of the corner
<v Speaker 2>and falls over like Flair. So Andre is down and
<v Speaker 2>goozles Hogan off the floor on his back. And then
<v Speaker 2>he gets Hogan on his back. Is goozling him because
<v Speaker 2>if you remember, remember what he should have been talking
<v Speaker 2>about money. He was talking about stapping and twisting his head.
<v Speaker 3>That he should be stuffing one dollar bills in his
<v Speaker 3>mouth as we speak.
<v Speaker 2>So Andre hardwhip's Hogan into the buckle. He falls down.
<v Speaker 2>Andre then chops him. I said, oh my god, Andre
<v Speaker 2>chops in the corner.
<v Speaker 3>He I mean, like he could have probably killed him
<v Speaker 3>with it if he wanted to. This was very nice.
<v Speaker 2>Andre then hits Hogan with a big boot and he
<v Speaker 2>even falls down while doing it.
<v Speaker 3>He I mean, I don't think that was on purpose.
<v Speaker 3>I think he just kind of lost his balance there,
<v Speaker 3>which they didn't really shoot it. So I was like,
<v Speaker 3>a dude, cameraman saved the spot, you know, like that's awesome. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>Hogan rolls to the outside, but Virgil rolls him back in.
<v Speaker 3>It didn't hit him or anything, just throws him back in.
<v Speaker 2>I like that. Jesse Ventura says that he did that
<v Speaker 2>because they didn't want to count out like the last matchad.
<v Speaker 2>You're not gonna get away this way, Hogan.
<v Speaker 3>I'm onto you, Hogan every step of the way.
<v Speaker 2>So Andre then starts choking Hogan with his own strap.
<v Speaker 3>Dude, that's crazy, that's fucking crazy, Like he I've never
<v Speaker 3>seen anybody do that. He used the strap of his
<v Speaker 3>single and wrapped it around Hogan's neck.
<v Speaker 2>I said, wow, Dave Havner, se, can you please stop
<v Speaker 2>doing that? I thought you're on our side. The Hogan
<v Speaker 2>hits a fucking flying clothesline out of the corner and
<v Speaker 2>Andre finally goes down.
<v Speaker 3>He's fucking fired up.
<v Speaker 2>Hogan then goes for the leg drop, but Virgil grabs
<v Speaker 2>his leg but the ref gets distracted by Virgil after this,
<v Speaker 2>as Hogan hits the ropes on the other side and
<v Speaker 2>hits the leg drop and pins Andre for to win,
<v Speaker 2>but the ref didn't see it.
<v Speaker 3>Fucking Virgil right.
<v Speaker 2>Andre then grabs Hogan by his little hairs what he
<v Speaker 2>grabbed his ship out of his little ears and started
<v Speaker 2>head budding him to the back of the head. I
<v Speaker 2>don't got a lot of the left and then he
<v Speaker 2>hits a crazy soup lex. Andre then pins Hogan and
<v Speaker 2>the ref counts what I initially thought was like a
<v Speaker 2>fucking five count or something. Okay, me too, super over Yeah, Like,
<v Speaker 2>I think Hogan's lost on the count. Vince is lost
<v Speaker 2>on the count. I'm fucking super lost. Opin kicks out
<v Speaker 2>at like fucking one. Uh he thinks it's like three
<v Speaker 2>or two or something. At this point, the ref then
<v Speaker 2>counts three. Vince like starts saying the matches over at
<v Speaker 2>like the ref's two count, and then says, oh three, oh,
<v Speaker 2>it's over. Fuck. This is one of the most fucked
<v Speaker 2>up pins I've ever seen.
<v Speaker 3>Everyone was wrong.
<v Speaker 2>The crowd can't believe it. In Vince is just saying, Nope,
<v Speaker 2>that didn't That's not right, that is not right, didn't you?
<v Speaker 2>And I love that? I love that? Uh, Ventura said,
<v Speaker 2>the guy's only human McMahon. He can make mistakes. There's
<v Speaker 2>no instant replays in wrestling, and there's not football.
<v Speaker 3>This isn't football. And Vince's I can't believe what a
<v Speaker 3>stupid mistake that was.
<v Speaker 2>And maybe I should start my own football league dead
<v Speaker 2>with replays a bl check and Chris is there going
<v Speaker 2>to be a union for everybody in the XFL. Vince
<v Speaker 2>stop saying that. So Hebner then gives on Andre the
<v Speaker 2>belt and we are announced that we have a new
<v Speaker 2>world champion.
<v Speaker 3>Hogan can't believe it. He's fucking He keeps fucking bowing
<v Speaker 3>at his hair, which is a bad idea, it's really
<v Speaker 3>good at fuck his situation up here looking at Dave Hemner,
<v Speaker 3>he's saying that he kicks out at one and he's like,
<v Speaker 3>what the fuck, dude? Uh?
<v Speaker 2>And what.
<v Speaker 3>Dave Evener is like, Nope, that was the finish you lost,
<v Speaker 3>and he carries the belt. He goes out the ring
<v Speaker 3>carries a belt all the way around the ring. Hogan
<v Speaker 3>is yelling at him from inside the ring to the floor,
<v Speaker 3>the whole way around. And then Dave Evener goes and
<v Speaker 3>hands Andre the belt. Howard Finkele makes the official announcement,
<v Speaker 3>and mean Jane is here on the apron and yeah,
<v Speaker 3>mean Jane says, apparently you're the new champion. Andre. Andre
<v Speaker 3>is not really sure.
<v Speaker 2>I guess what's going on here? I just won the
<v Speaker 2>world title. Due he did say that.
<v Speaker 3>There's no surprise. I told you I was go to
<v Speaker 3>the World Papership. Now I shall rendered the World Championship.
<v Speaker 2>To be honest. What so there's no way that's what
<v Speaker 2>he said or meant to say, I dude, I listened
<v Speaker 2>to it a lot.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, you did, Okay, he said, swear tag team the
<v Speaker 1>first time? He said, second time?
<v Speaker 3>Please, I would love to because James, not only not
<v Speaker 3>only do I did, I listen to it a bunch
<v Speaker 3>of times. I put captions on the captions say, He says.
<v Speaker 1>World.
<v Speaker 2>The World's world team.
<v Speaker 3>Platly it could be any that's the only clear thing.
<v Speaker 3>He says. Wrote tag team champion, he says.
<v Speaker 1>Then he says, World Championship.
<v Speaker 2>This is no surprise. I told you I'm going to
<v Speaker 2>win the World Tag Team Championship, and now I surrender
<v Speaker 2>the world. Okay, he definitely says I surrender the World
<v Speaker 2>Tag Toom Championship to tending me. Awesome, he says it twice.
<v Speaker 1>Well they only sub tell it once though, but yeah,
<v Speaker 1>the second time, I.
<v Speaker 3>Mean the second time, I could you could maybe get
<v Speaker 3>away with thinking he's a heavyweight, but I don't know, man,
<v Speaker 3>I saw he says tag toam champion the mother fucking timesstand.
<v Speaker 1>It's surrendering bull tag bolts to Teddy.
<v Speaker 2>That's pretty soon, I'm okay. So my third my first
<v Speaker 2>thought here is he must be going after the World
<v Speaker 2>Tag Team Championship. So like he's doing the interview and
<v Speaker 2>like he's trying to say that I promise you I'm
<v Speaker 2>going to win the Tag Team Championships, so like I
<v Speaker 2>don't want this, okay, right, But then I think, because
<v Speaker 2>he said World Tag Team Championship and he's blown up
<v Speaker 2>from after the match, that maybe he just says it
<v Speaker 2>again where he doesn't mean to, And now I surrender
<v Speaker 2>the world because like he says world, and then like
<v Speaker 2>as he says tag team, he starts to like like
<v Speaker 2>go out because I don't think you mean to say that,
<v Speaker 2>But then he says, that's gotta be it, because like, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>you're right, he does say tag team Championship twice.
<v Speaker 3>That feels right though, what like that is probably what happened,
<v Speaker 3>but that is so fucking funny, funny.
<v Speaker 2>I'm surrendering the world tag team title, Teddy the Austin
<v Speaker 2>Oh Ship. Okay, it was a one on one match.
<v Speaker 2>Are we live? Can we do that again? We're lives?
<v Speaker 2>We have another match? Okay, yeah, all right, well let's
<v Speaker 2>worry championship. Yeah, let's sorry something.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah sure, tag tea, don't worry about that next match,
<v Speaker 3>our d, he's.
<v Speaker 2>Gonna win him. Okay, all right, sure, yeah, anyways, cut
<v Speaker 2>that last match sad down here. That's funny, ship.
<v Speaker 3>He was so worried about the Brent tag more pro drummer.
<v Speaker 2>So yeah, ted Dbiassi is the new world champion for now.
<v Speaker 1>Anyway, fast, they did that super fast. I always thought
<v Speaker 1>it was like long. I don't know why I didn't
<v Speaker 1>think it happened like I won the belt. Here's the bell.
<v Speaker 3>It was like the next show. I didn't realize he
<v Speaker 3>does it immediately, So okay, this is even so Andre
<v Speaker 3>says he's give me the world tag team titles. Ted
<v Speaker 3>Das gives the title, deb puts around his waist and
<v Speaker 3>then I mean, maybe I'm wrong, I swear this is
<v Speaker 3>what I heard, but I swear. Andre on the mic.
<v Speaker 2>Says, okay, give me one second.
<v Speaker 3>As he as the title's going on, dB, I swear,
<v Speaker 3>he says he does.
<v Speaker 1>He says, are you said ready the bell? Are you
<v Speaker 1>sure he's doing that?
<v Speaker 5>Yes, sir, please listen to it, Yes, sir, yes, yes,
<v Speaker 5>sir said, yes sir, that's fucking awesome.
<v Speaker 2>Well, this is under his bas this is the greatest
<v Speaker 2>moment in wrestling, all.
<v Speaker 5>Of this.
<v Speaker 3>And it only gets better.
<v Speaker 2>James, as this goes on, Oh my god, I mean
<v Speaker 2>it comes to the greatest, It comes to the greatest
<v Speaker 2>moment wrestling, Like this is like back to back to back,
<v Speaker 2>like we're slamming moments here. Crazy, all right. So the
<v Speaker 2>ref then stops Hogan from rushing dbi as Uh on commentary.
<v Speaker 2>They're talking like Jack Tony is not going to let
<v Speaker 2>that fucking happen, Like no way, We'll figure out what happens,
<v Speaker 2>but like no way fucking works. So the ref stops
<v Speaker 2>Hoging from rushing dbis Dave Hebner. Hogan then picks up
<v Speaker 2>Dave Hebner, leurns him around and bud the corner. The
<v Speaker 2>camera shot gets real close on Hogan and Vince says, well,
<v Speaker 2>what's that going on in the ring? And then yeah,
<v Speaker 2>is that if Dave Hebner or is that Dave Avener?
<v Speaker 2>It pans out into the hardcam shot and there are
<v Speaker 2>two Dave Hebners in the ring.
<v Speaker 3>This, dude, I can't imagine watching this live in nineteen
<v Speaker 3>eighty eight on a TV that is meant for nineteen
<v Speaker 3>eighty eight and staring at two Dave Eveners.
<v Speaker 1>There the fucking way there's two rests that are identical.
<v Speaker 3>That's going to be the craziest fucking thing in the history.
<v Speaker 3>This is one of the greatest moments ever to Dave.
<v Speaker 2>Evener's, dude.
<v Speaker 3>That probably was on the news, the headline.
<v Speaker 2>On the newspaper. There are two Dave Hebners. What does
<v Speaker 2>this mean for the World Wrestling.
<v Speaker 3>Federation paying them both separately?
<v Speaker 2>McMahon and the bottom down there and Jesse Ventura saying
<v Speaker 2>that he wants a union.
<v Speaker 3>Who do you sign the check to? McMahon, Dave or Dave?
<v Speaker 2>Dude?
<v Speaker 3>This is insane too. Dave Eveners are arguing, and Hogan
<v Speaker 3>is like yelling at the dibiazi passe, and he slowly
<v Speaker 3>turns back and he stops, and he stares at both
<v Speaker 3>Hebner's and he's so confused.
<v Speaker 2>What the hell Dave?
<v Speaker 3>To pantomime him trying to figure out why these two
<v Speaker 3>dudes are identical, he wipes his face and his arms
<v Speaker 3>because they also have identical faces and arms, and he
<v Speaker 3>calls over and he points in both of them.
<v Speaker 2>What the fuck, dude, who are you Dave or are
<v Speaker 2>you Dave brother? Which brother is David? Which dude is Dave?
<v Speaker 2>He goozles both Dave Evner's. Dude.
<v Speaker 3>He grabs them both up, but he's gonna kick both
<v Speaker 3>their asses. He's gonna find out who the real David
<v Speaker 3>Hebner is by kicking both their asses.
<v Speaker 2>I will find out who Dave Evner is. Dude. It's
<v Speaker 2>not Dave, Ah, it's not Dave.
<v Speaker 3>So Ogan lets both Hebner's go. He's grabbing his head.
<v Speaker 3>He's caught templating his entire life. Now he's trying to
<v Speaker 3>figure out what the fuck is going on, And it
<v Speaker 3>cuts back to the Hebner's and you can see them mouthing.
<v Speaker 3>They're both saying, I'm Dave Hebner to each other, which
<v Speaker 3>is awesome with each other. Dave Hefner is and I
<v Speaker 3>don't know if we how we find out here because
<v Speaker 3>we obviously don't watch ahead of this. But the Hebner's
<v Speaker 3>then start shoving each other and it's getting intense, and
<v Speaker 3>Hogan is watching, and then one Dave Hebner punches the
<v Speaker 3>other Dave Hebner and docks him down and then kicks
<v Speaker 3>him in the stomach, and the crowd's fucking going nuts.
<v Speaker 2>Number one.
<v Speaker 1>They think he's the good Dave Hebner, not the bad Davember.
<v Speaker 3>One Dave number one day number two, they've decided that
<v Speaker 3>the one that could fight is the Dave Hebner.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, this crowd is going ape shit. This is
<v Speaker 2>the fucking craziest thing they've ever seen. They're losing it. Ye.
<v Speaker 2>Dave Hebner then kicks Dave Hebner out of the ring.
<v Speaker 2>Slip's doing it, dude, Okay, So then the Dave Hebner
<v Speaker 2>that kicked the other Dave Hebner tries to leave, but
<v Speaker 2>Hogan grabs him by his ass and then taunts to
<v Speaker 2>the crowd crazy.
<v Speaker 3>Dude forever and like yeah, he pantomimes and points like
<v Speaker 3>he points to the refor in Panamime's money, like to say, oh,
<v Speaker 3>is this that Dave Hender got paid off? The crowd
<v Speaker 3>had already decided they like this, Dave Hemner because you
<v Speaker 3>want to fight. Now Hogan is threatening to kick his
<v Speaker 3>ass and asking the crowd if it's okay.
<v Speaker 2>So Hogan then lifts up Dave Hebner. This is absolutely und.
<v Speaker 3>I could not dude, I could not believe this happens.
<v Speaker 2>Hogan lifts up Dave Hebner and then runs at the
<v Speaker 2>ropes with him gorilla crass position. Yes, runs at the
<v Speaker 2>ropes and then throws him at Virgil and Andre the Giant,
<v Speaker 2>and he overthrows and they do not catch.
<v Speaker 3>Him right on the floor, and you can see, like
<v Speaker 3>if I would, there's gotta be a slow motion version
<v Speaker 3>of it. You could see him go over their head
<v Speaker 3>and they have to like try to reach their hands
<v Speaker 3>up to catch them. And he still doesn't go Andre,
<v Speaker 3>by the way, and wanted no involvement in this because
<v Speaker 3>he lands at Andre's feet.
<v Speaker 2>Dude, Wow, I saw the hands like scrape his back
<v Speaker 2>as he was going. I was like, wow, he died. Died. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>that's what I thought too. He's just laying there on
<v Speaker 2>the ground. I know, He's like, mother fuck.
<v Speaker 3>Well, at least we have two daves. That's shrewed. Ye
<v Speaker 3>doesn't matter.
<v Speaker 2>We still have a main event, so we need the
<v Speaker 2>other day.
<v Speaker 3>I could not fucking believe that that he that they
<v Speaker 3>didn't catch him, Like Hogan must have been so fired
<v Speaker 3>up or he didn't realize this Dame was yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>like he sends them.
<v Speaker 2>I mean he full set him, like, yeah, you really
<v Speaker 2>threw them. We gotta go, dude.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, he must have. Maybe he under a stimated how
<v Speaker 3>good of a throwing a person he was.
<v Speaker 2>Maybe he just hated this dude. He just dude, fuck you,
<v Speaker 2>he thought it's f.
<v Speaker 3>I've said it to you before the Zandig throwing joker
<v Speaker 3>from the Ring to the light tubes.
<v Speaker 2>Fuck you.
<v Speaker 3>You need that over this.
<v Speaker 2>Like a cute.
<v Speaker 3>This whole end segment is like legit, legendary, legit legendary.
<v Speaker 2>Like, dude, he's got him by the neck.
<v Speaker 3>He takes him up, he's got him hoisted up. He's dude,
<v Speaker 3>he's holding him high like he and he dude, he
<v Speaker 3>sprints from one side of the ring to the other
<v Speaker 3>and launches him. Maybe he thought they'd be further back
<v Speaker 3>and he was just going, but dude, Dave hits the
<v Speaker 3>floor and fucking dies.
<v Speaker 6>Wow, here, dude, at least he at least he hits
<v Speaker 6>Andre's arms, so like there's a little bit where he
<v Speaker 6>stalls out, but he ends up underneath tedd.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean just talk about back to back to
<v Speaker 2>back greatest moments of wrestling. Yes, it's not done, noat
<v Speaker 2>all time. So we go to commercial and come back
<v Speaker 2>to a tag team match in the ring. I said,
<v Speaker 2>what we have like two minutes left?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, Vince's we'll be back with a mar and I'm like,
<v Speaker 3>what the fuck could be more? It's got to just
<v Speaker 3>be the Hogan promo. Yeah, we're back Strike Force of
<v Speaker 3>Rick Martel and Tito Santana, who I think are the
<v Speaker 3>tag champions. Yeah, that's right, making their entrance Hard Foundations
<v Speaker 3>already in the ring, and I'm like, I'm looking, legit.
<v Speaker 3>Two minutes left on the peacock feed. I was very confused.
<v Speaker 2>Two minutes left and they say we have to go backstage.
<v Speaker 2>I said, oh, how does this work?
<v Speaker 3>Vinces Hogan's backstage with me? And Gene. And I'll tell
<v Speaker 3>you I've never seen anything like that before. Vinces me
<v Speaker 3>and gen Okalon is standing by with me and Jen.
<v Speaker 2>I swear I heard Jesse vinturgo.
<v Speaker 3>Huh so mean Jean says, all right, Vincent Man bedlam
<v Speaker 3>in pandemonium, Huk Hogan, I'm sure, uh there's gonna be
<v Speaker 3>a thorough investigation of what happened here to night. And
<v Speaker 3>I know you couldn't be any more disappointed. And Hogan
<v Speaker 3>Hogan is like, might as well be crying. Hogan says,
<v Speaker 3>how much money did they spend on the plastic surgery? Man?
<v Speaker 2>I had all the bases covered, I had a whole comedia.
<v Speaker 2>I was watching TV as I had virtual on his place.
<v Speaker 3>Never in my waters dreams, mean Gene, would I think
<v Speaker 3>I would get wrapped off by a penny pension two time?
<v Speaker 2>And referee? How much money on the plastic surgery? How
<v Speaker 2>much money did he pay the referee off?
<v Speaker 3>When the way in the background after starting, Yes, when
<v Speaker 3>I turn around, mean Gene, they were identical.
<v Speaker 1>I did it.
<v Speaker 2>God.
<v Speaker 3>Look at the shoulder, brother, Look at the shoulder the
<v Speaker 3>referees paid off, brother, Look at the hundred dollar bills
<v Speaker 3>falling out of his pockets. They're replaying The Finish Year
<v Speaker 3>as Hogan is watching it, I guess on the screen,
<v Speaker 3>look at the shoulder, dude, look at the pockets, brother, dude.
<v Speaker 3>He walks off screen.
<v Speaker 2>Dude. The cadence of the last part is so fucking
<v Speaker 2>funny because he's like crying right like he lost the
<v Speaker 2>WF title. It's like, it's look at the hundred dollar
<v Speaker 2>bills fall off of his pocket. He's got their hands
<v Speaker 2>on his head, out of his pocket.
<v Speaker 3>Man Hendy eggs. Hendy asks, Wow, much did they spend
<v Speaker 3>on the plastic surgery?
<v Speaker 2>I find myself saying that randomly, just all the time,
<v Speaker 2>just randomly saying that it's so fucking funny. How much
<v Speaker 2>money did they spend?
<v Speaker 1>Man, Dude, it's so hilarious, Like that's the only explanation
<v Speaker 1>for this.
<v Speaker 3>There's not there's no way he had a brother.
<v Speaker 1>There's no twins, there's no brother. Yeah, Like, there has
<v Speaker 1>to be some guy up the street they gave plastic
<v Speaker 1>surgery to spend on it.
<v Speaker 3>Well, this dude's the multimillion dollar man, Tony. It is
<v Speaker 3>completely plausible that he had enough money to This guy
<v Speaker 3>looked like Dave Evder.
<v Speaker 1>After the plastic surgery. You probably spent all of his money.
<v Speaker 1>He's just a millionaire.
<v Speaker 3>Now he's back to just the millionaire.
<v Speaker 2>Who was this union scab raft mcmaan.
<v Speaker 1>If we had a union in this ref, shit wouldn't happen.
<v Speaker 3>You don't have contracted refs McMahon.
<v Speaker 2>Who is this?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, so dbasi is I don't think of fish like
<v Speaker 3>I don't think in the record books a show he's
<v Speaker 3>not champion, right. I think andre they recognize his title
<v Speaker 3>and then like it's a one less than one day reign,
<v Speaker 3>and then the belts held up and they do a
<v Speaker 3>tournament for the title wrestling a four, right.
<v Speaker 2>I believe that's right? Gotcha? Anyway? Back for the tag match? Yeah, man,
<v Speaker 2>we got Strike Force versus the Hart Foundation. Here, I'm
<v Speaker 2>to single it over the times.
<v Speaker 3>Very interesting. Look, I like it.
<v Speaker 2>Brett hits a polo driver for it too, and we're
<v Speaker 2>all out of time.
<v Speaker 3>I couldn't fucking believe it because like I was like, wow,
<v Speaker 3>pile driver, that's awesome. I thought it was gonna be
<v Speaker 3>pile Driver one, two, three, and then we're out it
<v Speaker 3>was pile Driver. Well, the show's over. Where you're gonna go?
<v Speaker 3>See you so long from Indianapolis.
<v Speaker 2>I said, what, dude, I've never I've never seen a
<v Speaker 2>commentary team rip their headphones off as quick as were
<v Speaker 2>here they go here, I'm not watching this, Dan.
<v Speaker 3>They do a wide shot Vinces so long from Indianapolis, Indiana.
<v Speaker 3>They do the widest shot ever, And if you squint
<v Speaker 3>close enough, you can see Brett doing a sunset. Rick
<v Speaker 3>Martell's stopping him and stacking them high.
<v Speaker 2>And then winning. I mean, interesting, nuts that was.
<v Speaker 3>I don't know if there's a story to that. I'm
<v Speaker 3>trying to see if there's any reason why.
<v Speaker 1>The Hogan stuff with the two Hebner gimmick win over.
<v Speaker 1>I'm sure eight it had to go overtime.
<v Speaker 3>Wikipedia says that the match was still in progress when
<v Speaker 3>NBC signed off in twenty fourteen, when the w B
<v Speaker 3>network was made available this episode made available this episode
<v Speaker 3>to its ontoman section. The ending of this match was
<v Speaker 3>added in. Oh, the actual feed doesn't show the finish
<v Speaker 3>like that part was added in for the network.
<v Speaker 2>Oh okay, yes, so they're coming off.
<v Speaker 3>And all is not actually included in the real feed. Sure, okay,
<v Speaker 3>that makes more.
<v Speaker 1>Sense, But that's I mean, it's like a wild way
<v Speaker 1>to end the show like, Oh, we're on the time,
<v Speaker 1>we gotta go kind of thing. You know, WW did
<v Speaker 1>it a lot like, but they never did it in
<v Speaker 1>the middle of a match like that. I don't think right,
<v Speaker 1>I do a.
<v Speaker 2>Cage match in like a month between Strike Force and
<v Speaker 2>Randy Savage and the Heart Foundation and the Hockey Talk
<v Speaker 2>Man like six man silk cage match. Whoa wow? What
<v Speaker 2>the fuck?
<v Speaker 3>Holy shit? That sounds awesome. This was a great show.
<v Speaker 2>It was Yeah. I had a good time.
<v Speaker 3>The both matches were fun. Even the third match was fun.
<v Speaker 3>I got to see the finish show. But the presentation
<v Speaker 3>is fun like it's definitely a time capsule wrestling, Like
<v Speaker 3>all this doesn't exist anymore in this kind of manner,
<v Speaker 3>like how people consumed wrestling and enjoyed it a crowd
<v Speaker 3>wise presentation wise too, I guess you could say, and
<v Speaker 3>like the matches were had a tony heat and everything
<v Speaker 3>was simple and I mean this and this was fun.
<v Speaker 3>I enjoyed this thoroughly. Before we go here, let's I
<v Speaker 3>want to bring back up the Observer because I mentioned
<v Speaker 3>that earlier from February fifteenth, nineteen eighty eight. Meltzer writes,
<v Speaker 3>quote unquote there's two Dave Hebner's in that ring. Meltzer says,
<v Speaker 3>all I can say is I hope whoever came up
<v Speaker 3>with that finish got a nice bonus in this week's paycheck.
<v Speaker 3>Meltzer says, it's been thirty three years since pro wrestling
<v Speaker 3>had been on TV a TV network during primetime, which
<v Speaker 3>is I didn't realize that. That's pretty crazy. Well, wrestling
<v Speaker 3>still hasn't been there, but once again Titan Sports appears
<v Speaker 3>to have come out smelling like a rose. He says,
<v Speaker 3>they accomplished what they set out to accomplish, and presenting
<v Speaker 3>pro wrestling was obviously not in their plans. They got
<v Speaker 3>the title from Holkogan without having the do a job,
<v Speaker 3>Andre wasn't hurt, WrestleMania was set up, and most of all,
<v Speaker 3>they ended the show with an angle so bizarre that
<v Speaker 3>it diverted everyone's attention from the few weaknesses in the show.
<v Speaker 3>Most of all, the sleight of hand finish distracted everyone
<v Speaker 3>and stunned them long enough so there was no threat
<v Speaker 3>of a riot. And that was a stroke of genius,
<v Speaker 3>because doing a screw job title stealing from a babyface
<v Speaker 3>as over a Hogan could easily escalate into an out
<v Speaker 3>of control situation. This the Friday night to NBC show.
<v Speaker 3>The main event drew a sixteen point one rating twenty
<v Speaker 3>six share, which translated makes it the most widely watched
<v Speaker 3>wrestling match in the history of the United States Meltzers.
<v Speaker 3>I'll go into detail but the rating next time, But
<v Speaker 3>basically it was an average rated primetime show, although it
<v Speaker 3>did a lot better than MC normally does with the
<v Speaker 3>bomb Rags to riches in that slot. There were NBC
<v Speaker 3>folks who were talking top five or top ten for
<v Speaker 3>the week, but it was probably in the number twenty
<v Speaker 3>five range. That is crazy to me that that, like
<v Speaker 3>a sixteen point one was a average rating for NBC
<v Speaker 3>primetime in nineteen eighty eight.
<v Speaker 1>That is crazy.
<v Speaker 2>Well yeah, I mean different times, I'm for sure, Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>But yeah, So, like, uh, he just said, he said
<v Speaker 3>it was just a smart finish. I thought he was
<v Speaker 3>gonna shoot on this. I thought he was gonna, uh
<v Speaker 3>fucking hate this, but he said it was a smart
<v Speaker 3>way to you know, set stuff up for Mania and all.
<v Speaker 3>And I mean, it's it's fucking legendary. I will even
<v Speaker 3>even as someone that didn't really follow this era of wrestling,
<v Speaker 3>I knew about to David.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I was his brother.
<v Speaker 3>It is fucking awesome, man. I didn't know Andre was
<v Speaker 3>giving up the tag titles though.
<v Speaker 2>That's scart. It's just figured it out here.
<v Speaker 3>That's a good, tremendous and that is it for WBF.
