<v Speaker 1>Hey everybody, It's Tuesday, February twenty fourth, twenty twenty six.
<v Speaker 1>Welcome to the Giant BombCast, Episode nine hundred and twenty nine.
<v Speaker 1>I'm your host jan Ochoa, joining me as always co
<v Speaker 1>captain of the ship. They didn't let him hit the
<v Speaker 1>ice for the free skate, Jeff Grub.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, but I'm also not celebrating my basement with cash bitel.
<v Speaker 2>So I'm the real winner here. Don't worry about it.
<v Speaker 1>You are the real winner and the real winner as
<v Speaker 1>always in our hearts, in your hearts. He's standing at
<v Speaker 1>the podium ready to get all three medals for the
<v Speaker 1>doubles louge, all by himself. Jeff Beckler. You can do a.
<v Speaker 3>Double's louge by your cell.
<v Speaker 2>You can back.
<v Speaker 3>You so special that I would be a skeleton guy.
<v Speaker 3>I think I'm gonna I'm gonna raw dog that that track.
<v Speaker 1>I would love to see that hunker first. Oh you know, Okay,
<v Speaker 1>what do you mean?
<v Speaker 2>What do you mean? What do I mean?
<v Speaker 3>The skeleton the most insane sport in the history of mankind,
<v Speaker 3>where you're going down that lose track dome first.
<v Speaker 2>I've been losing and that was terrifying, Like on its
<v Speaker 2>own like like going on like an actual Olympic training
<v Speaker 2>a louge course that the Easter Bob said and everything
<v Speaker 2>else up in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Skeleton hadn't been invented yet.
<v Speaker 2>I don't think when I did that, or if it had,
<v Speaker 2>they didn't tell me about it. We didn't have the
<v Speaker 2>technology yet. Yeah, they're just like, no human body could
<v Speaker 2>survive that. It's crazy that anyone does it.
<v Speaker 1>And you know what, he doesn't need any metals. He
<v Speaker 1>doesn't need a skeleton because he is all rage. He
<v Speaker 1>is the bird boy of games media.
<v Speaker 4>My like, minaughty, hi friends, I hope you're doing well.
<v Speaker 1>That's right, He's so bad. It's filled with rage underneath
<v Speaker 1>the surface.
<v Speaker 4>Is that man, Buddies, nice to see you.
<v Speaker 2>Just normal this episode.
<v Speaker 4>Sorry, I'm bad.
<v Speaker 1>I just never know what I'm gonna get with you.
<v Speaker 1>I see you're like, you can't wait.
<v Speaker 3>You're like a little kid getting picked in first grade
<v Speaker 3>by the teacher, just waiting for jan to toss over
<v Speaker 3>to you, wiggling in your chair.
<v Speaker 4>I was like, the order, don't look at me, don't
<v Speaker 4>call me. I'm scared.
<v Speaker 1>Dan Record is out on assignment today. Uh and uh,
<v Speaker 1>but but Dan worked on some things one of his
<v Speaker 1>assignments from last week. We will see the fruits of
<v Speaker 1>that very very soon, very fun fruits. I should say, sorry, Mike,
<v Speaker 1>I didn't mean to bring up pants. Yeah, take your face.
<v Speaker 2>Hey can't say fun fruits are gross, Mike, that's hateful.
<v Speaker 2>Come on, man.
<v Speaker 3>Speaking of wild animals, okay, uh, I had some rapping
<v Speaker 3>this morning. I just have to share because it is
<v Speaker 3>buck wild.
<v Speaker 2>Was it a buck?
<v Speaker 3>Nope, different kind of different kind of animal, but a
<v Speaker 3>wild one.
<v Speaker 1>Okay.
<v Speaker 3>It snowed about twenty inches here.
<v Speaker 1>That's insane.
<v Speaker 2>It's insane.
<v Speaker 3>It's a lot a lot of that, a lot of
<v Speaker 3>a lot of snow. And I live near a little
<v Speaker 3>bit of water, and you can, like animals run across
<v Speaker 3>the frozen water. Right this morning, I opened the shades,
<v Speaker 3>I look out and across the street my neighbor who
<v Speaker 3>has had their driveway plowed. You know, it's like four
<v Speaker 3>feet of snow all around the perimeter driveway. It's like
<v Speaker 3>a little sort of like safe sort of cape. I
<v Speaker 3>look over, as I do every morning when I open
<v Speaker 3>the shades, and I see three coyotes.
<v Speaker 1>Ooh, coyotes three a three pack.
<v Speaker 3>They go into the driveway, and they're just sort of like, ah,
<v Speaker 3>we're safe here, let's just lounge out. One of them
<v Speaker 3>takes shit. One of them like smelling around. They're doing
<v Speaker 3>their business. They're like stretching. I'm like, oh, they must
<v Speaker 3>have just woken up, Like they're just they're stretching out.
<v Speaker 3>They're like Suburbia whatever. Then all of a sudden, two
<v Speaker 3>of them start going at like really going at it happen. Okay, great, guys.
<v Speaker 3>Do you know what happens to coyotes after.
<v Speaker 2>They do it?
<v Speaker 1>I don't know.
<v Speaker 4>I have no idea.
<v Speaker 3>They don't smoke cigarettes. Chat, Does anyone know what happens
<v Speaker 3>to coyotes in the winter after they bone?
<v Speaker 2>What?
<v Speaker 3>Because because, my friends, it's the last thing you expect.
<v Speaker 2>They piss on each other. What do they start playing
<v Speaker 2>piano or like? What could they possibly do? They don't
<v Speaker 2>have anything?
<v Speaker 4>What they got they got nothing?
<v Speaker 2>She pulls out a guns. Just get out of my house,
<v Speaker 2>like what people in chat have got?
<v Speaker 1>Correct? Boys? They get stuck. They get stuck.
<v Speaker 3>The lego pieces get stuck, and for an extended period
<v Speaker 3>of time there was an eight legged creature running up
<v Speaker 3>and down the fucking driveway because they were stuck inside
<v Speaker 3>each other. Okay, I recorded it. You're curious if I
<v Speaker 3>just got it's hilarious. There's no other way to put it.
<v Speaker 3>It's also proof there's no God, because I.
<v Speaker 2>Just think it should work. It should work better.
<v Speaker 3>They're going up and down, and it's like they don't
<v Speaker 3>know what's happening. They're just like, oh my god, oh
<v Speaker 3>my god, what do we do?
<v Speaker 1>What happens? What do we do?
<v Speaker 3>And I'm not joking ten minutes. For ten minutes, they
<v Speaker 3>were interlocked in that ten minutes after.
<v Speaker 2>The post coital period.
<v Speaker 1>What is the third coyote doing? And he's just watching.
<v Speaker 2>Into this whole thing.
<v Speaker 3>Honestly, I don't know the dynamic of that pack. I
<v Speaker 3>do know they're monogamous. After we sort of researched this,
<v Speaker 3>you know, I said, I said to say something like,
<v Speaker 3>you gotta google what's happening across the street right now,
<v Speaker 3>because these two freaks are just stuck together. It's weird
<v Speaker 3>because you're like, because you're like, I knew, I knew
<v Speaker 3>immediately that's what happened, like, and we just need a
<v Speaker 3>Google to confirm exactly, like the the the sort of
<v Speaker 3>like biological explanation of what was going on.
<v Speaker 2>And do they have corkscrew wieners and vaginas. I think
<v Speaker 2>it's just this. So how does it get stuck? That's
<v Speaker 2>what I'm asking.
<v Speaker 1>I think it's just a swollen hog.
<v Speaker 2>I think it's just that.
<v Speaker 3>I think it's a bulbous hog that just gets sort of,
<v Speaker 3>you know, trapped inside there.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, yeah, Will's got it.
<v Speaker 3>It inflates me like a clown balloon animal.
<v Speaker 4>Perhaps it's a good thing it's them and not us, right,
<v Speaker 4>You can you imagine like there was an emergency like
<v Speaker 4>you just so happened to you know what? It's like,
<v Speaker 4>Oh no, I gotta be but iris trench coat.
<v Speaker 3>I'm surprised there's still coyotes after seeing what happens the
<v Speaker 3>sure sure.
<v Speaker 4>It's not just a coyote thing though, this is this
<v Speaker 4>is all dogs I think have do this well.
<v Speaker 3>For real, I feel like I've definitely seen dog I
<v Speaker 3>feel like I've seen a lot of dogs do this
<v Speaker 3>and not be they attached.
<v Speaker 2>I think they get attached. I'm like the time it
<v Speaker 2>happens every time.
<v Speaker 3>Well, no, the results the results of this sort of
<v Speaker 3>moment pretty much more often than not, and in a
<v Speaker 3>somewhat extended period of time of being.
<v Speaker 4>Stuck confirms it's a it's a canine thing.
<v Speaker 3>Oh god, I've never seen the dogs get wrapped up?
<v Speaker 2>And does it happened to wolves? Right?
<v Speaker 1>Is that why I have two wolves in me? They're
<v Speaker 1>stuck together.
<v Speaker 2>They're stuck together. Stop boating and getting stuck together, sky
<v Speaker 2>Patch Wolve.
<v Speaker 3>I don't know. I don't know, but this was wild
<v Speaker 3>and it was hilarious, but also kind of sad because
<v Speaker 3>you're like, oh, my gods, eight legs, they're never going
<v Speaker 3>to agree on which direction to walk.
<v Speaker 2>It's a dog.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, it's exactly exactly what happened to that dog, that's right?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, Okay, Well.
<v Speaker 3>I'll share a picture if you guys want there you go,
<v Speaker 3>thank you. Well, it's harmless enough. It's so far away
<v Speaker 3>that it's sort of just like it's like comical.
<v Speaker 2>Alright, you know what I mean. It's not graphic any
<v Speaker 2>pictures of it. You freak.
<v Speaker 1>A hot dog, just to update everybody, all right, all right,
<v Speaker 1>check if you saw two coyotes stuck together, you wouldn't
<v Speaker 1>take a phone over that, No, I think I just
<v Speaker 1>walk away. I would do the thing like when you
<v Speaker 1>drive past an accident or something like happening, like, Oh,
<v Speaker 1>I wonder what's Oh gosh, I'm gonna keep going.
<v Speaker 3>All right, I'll find chat. I'll put it in chat
<v Speaker 3>for all you freaks.
<v Speaker 1>Did you put.
<v Speaker 2>Os get out of here?
<v Speaker 1>Jeff backlar for the audio listeners there, Jeff Bagler just
<v Speaker 1>spamming this like it's an OATS code or something.
<v Speaker 2>Oh, I didn't know.
<v Speaker 3>They were asked ass well, buddy, I hate to break
<v Speaker 3>into you, but that's where the parts are located.
<v Speaker 2>Oh my god, facing the opposite direction. I didn't know
<v Speaker 2>it was like that this photo.
<v Speaker 3>These freaks man that I feel way worse for the guy.
<v Speaker 2>God, I don't think anyone's coming out of winner in
<v Speaker 2>this situation, at.
<v Speaker 3>Least at least like you know, I presumably the female
<v Speaker 3>is like less uncomfortable, right, because oh yeah, they didn't
<v Speaker 3>get that close, and you know what we were reading.
<v Speaker 1>We're like, oh, they feel very.
<v Speaker 3>Vulnerable in this moment, of course, right, which is why
<v Speaker 3>they sort of like stuck inside this four foot snow cave.
<v Speaker 1>They thought this was like a safe space to do
<v Speaker 1>their nasty.
<v Speaker 2>Exploded for content not.
<v Speaker 1>Three hours later. I'm just I have to say it.
<v Speaker 1>I didn't know that this is what coyote style was.

<v Speaker 4>we speak. It's like money in the bank. It's yes,
<v Speaker 4>it's that song says it's not about the money, but
<v Speaker 4>I want to say it's it's all about the money, money, money, Yes, yes, yes.
<v Speaker 2>It's right. Giant bomb content is now currency. Take it

<v Speaker 4>Yes, big, yes, big thing happened here. So I had
<v Speaker 4>this song, you know, the song No Scrubs by TLC. Yes,
<v Speaker 4>and I stuck in my head all weekend and then
<v Speaker 4>I realized that scrub Brian Grub, so just all weekend.
<v Speaker 4>I don't want no grub. Grub is the guy you
<v Speaker 4>can get love from me. His best friend ride, Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>trying to holler.
<v Speaker 2>At me that.
<v Speaker 4>I'm like, okay, phone call, friend code, friend code, No,
<v Speaker 4>I don't want your friend code.
<v Speaker 2>No, I don't want to give you. That's what's your weekend.
<v Speaker 1>This is what you did, Chuck.
<v Speaker 2>He's a part, the memorable part, the cool part.
<v Speaker 1>He washed his dishes.
<v Speaker 4>I don't want no grub, grub, but get the meat.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, this was a classic kid at the time. Don't worry.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah yeah, yeah, very time.
<v Speaker 1>You folks weren't ready for it.
<v Speaker 4>You know, I have a rich fulfilling life.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, I watched a play on Sunday that was cool.
<v Speaker 1>I caught the Paranormal Activity play. What yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>they made a play. It's not of any of the
<v Speaker 1>movies as far as I know, it's I guess, the
<v Speaker 1>same universe of ghost spooky stuff happening. And here's the thing.
<v Speaker 1>It's meant. It's a very small cast, only four actors,
<v Speaker 1>and you know they're trying to build all the tension
<v Speaker 1>and play to the horror. And I felt really bad
<v Speaker 1>because the audience kept laughing. Is it a nervous laugh
<v Speaker 1>because it was spooky. I think it was like a
<v Speaker 1>nervous laugh. And after every like six testful scare and
<v Speaker 1>like this practical stage effects, very nice, very cool, very
<v Speaker 1>well done overall story, but like I enjoyed it overall,
<v Speaker 1>but after every scare it'd be like so, I think
<v Speaker 1>it was more of like a releasing attention laugh.
<v Speaker 2>But yeah, I mean, there's not that much difference between
<v Speaker 2>those feelings of like an outburst of laughter and an
<v Speaker 2>outburst of frighten. Right. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>In a movie though, I think it's fine, right because like, Okay,
<v Speaker 1>here's a collective xcale amongst all of us. But when
<v Speaker 1>it's a play and the two people putting on the
<v Speaker 1>show are right in front of you, yeah, it's rough
<v Speaker 1>for me. It's like, oh, I hope, I hope everyone
<v Speaker 1>else is feeling how I'm feeling, and that like, hey, no,
<v Speaker 1>we appreciate what you're doing. You're doing great, good, you're
<v Speaker 1>doing great.
<v Speaker 2>Keep going.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I'm into that.
<v Speaker 3>There's not enough like horror plays. Yeah, agreed. I think
<v Speaker 3>it's a good idea. Well that's a different kind of horror.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, how does it work? Like, because jump scares are
<v Speaker 2>only going to be so effective, right, I mean, so
<v Speaker 2>you can jump out of stage two hundred yards away
<v Speaker 2>from me and I'm not so much so.
<v Speaker 1>How the stage layout was It was kind of like
<v Speaker 1>they ripped the fourth wall out of a house, so
<v Speaker 1>you just saw like two floors of a house. It
<v Speaker 1>was very impressive. The set so first floor, second floor,
<v Speaker 1>and the lighting is directed in such a way they're
<v Speaker 1>trying to make it look like it's practical lighting, so
<v Speaker 1>like the couple will be downstairs in the living room,
<v Speaker 1>so the lights will be off on the second floor.
<v Speaker 1>And because it's such a big set and there's only
<v Speaker 1>two actors, your eyes can't help but scan across. So
<v Speaker 1>that's how they're trying to add in like little bits
<v Speaker 1>of horror, because you'll you'll see people like staring at
<v Speaker 1>the actors, and then you'll see like other people and
<v Speaker 1>audience like darting their eyes over there, so then you're
<v Speaker 1>looking over there now, and they'll just like play with
<v Speaker 1>the whole thing of like did I just see something?
<v Speaker 1>Did I see someone like in a window or in
<v Speaker 1>the lights or just futs around with the shadows. Really
<v Speaker 1>well done. If you're in San Francisco or in the
<v Speaker 1>Bay Area, probably do recommend go checking it out, and
<v Speaker 1>very very spooky time. Here's my issue though, here's the
<v Speaker 1>biggest issue. I don't care about the story it is.
<v Speaker 1>I think merch for shows and this goes to concerts
<v Speaker 1>as well. A little bit disappointing because all this was
<v Speaker 1>it was just a black tea that just said paranormal
<v Speaker 1>activity show and just like the worst screenprint, I'm like,
<v Speaker 1>what are we gonna do here? Well, even merch at
<v Speaker 1>this point sixty dollars, right, yeah, yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I like merchant like comes from as if it exists
<v Speaker 2>inside of the show or movie or whatever, where it's
<v Speaker 2>like if there's like a brand that exists inside the show,
<v Speaker 2>like the aperture science stuff. That's fun. That's definitely my
<v Speaker 2>preference these days, as opposed to something that just says
<v Speaker 2>the name of the movie. That's always less.
<v Speaker 4>Exciting, but like a tough beer can, right, yes.
<v Speaker 2>Exactly, ya, thing is gonna always be better for me.
<v Speaker 3>I saw Evil Dead the musical many many years ago,
<v Speaker 3>like twenty years ago.
<v Speaker 2>Oh my god, that's really.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's crazy. Wow, that's the real war here time.
<v Speaker 3>Two thousand and six.
<v Speaker 5>Years ago something like that.
<v Speaker 3>Whoa, that's crazy yeah New York And it was. But
<v Speaker 3>it was like, did they try and take paranormal activity
<v Speaker 3>a little seriously?
<v Speaker 2>I don't.
<v Speaker 3>I don't know, yeah, because it's not a very serious
<v Speaker 3>I mean, I guess the movies try and pretend like
<v Speaker 3>they are, you know, found footage real sort of stuff.
<v Speaker 1>Right, Yeah, they kind of jumped the shark after like
<v Speaker 1>once a horror franchise reaches like three movies I think
<v Speaker 1>it quickly jumps the shark and it's no longer taking
<v Speaker 1>itself seriously.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah for sure. The rule after that you can do whatever.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, you can.
<v Speaker 2>Solve the Cold War.
<v Speaker 3>The Evil Dead show was very very much like a
<v Speaker 3>a parody, right, They like handed out ponchos because of
<v Speaker 3>the blood, you know that kind of thing. It was
<v Speaker 3>off Broadway, Yeah for sure. But yeah, is a huge
<v Speaker 3>scream freaking I think scream you know eleven is coming
<v Speaker 3>out tomorrow or something like that. Yeah, if you can
<v Speaker 3>believe it, I believe it.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, any anyone else they got anything else from
<v Speaker 1>their weekend they want to goof and gab about.
<v Speaker 4>Just uh no grubs, just the gold.
<v Speaker 3>Medal and I dont ever you know, yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, hockey for you guys.
<v Speaker 4>I heard.
<v Speaker 3>I'm not Yeah, I mean wasn't it wasn't great, don't
<v Speaker 3>feel excellent. I feel good about everything until everything else.
<v Speaker 3>I don't know. I I just I just want to
<v Speaker 3>like what I like. I just I feel it's fucking
<v Speaker 3>would have been so easy to yeah, fucking loser.
<v Speaker 2>In the world.
<v Speaker 3>Fucking I just don't. I just don't want to like.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I don't know, and it would have been easy
<v Speaker 2>to be like, uh, okay, well whatever, I bet those
<v Speaker 2>guys don't know who Cash Hotel is. And then uh,
<v Speaker 2>but then they like still embraced them after I'm sure
<v Speaker 2>that someone told them at that point. Also, they're gonna
<v Speaker 2>go to the State of the Union, I guess. And
<v Speaker 2>then they laughed at Trump's joke about the women's hockey team. Fuck,
<v Speaker 2>these guys, get the fuck out of here. This very
<v Speaker 2>awesome thing.
<v Speaker 1>What gold medalists we can root for though Barrier Zone.
<v Speaker 2>She is how she is the coolest, Oh my god,
<v Speaker 2>like literally the coolest person. I don't mean like ice
<v Speaker 2>cold cool, like nothing gets to her cheap rules.
<v Speaker 3>That photo, Oh my god, her like mid air and
<v Speaker 3>celebrate Oh I just like, oh my god, amazing, Greb.
<v Speaker 1>I think in our discord you asked, is people are
<v Speaker 1>people in the Bay areas celebrating her in the streets?
<v Speaker 1>Everyone is yeah, uh, there is actually grub there is,
<v Speaker 1>Like I felt it, there is like a shift in
<v Speaker 1>better positivity in the Bay Area because of Also, it's
<v Speaker 1>like when the Warriors were a dynasty. It's like the
<v Speaker 1>same injection of energy that Steph Curry gave us.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, I mean, and she's honestly, like probably better
<v Speaker 2>than Steph Curry had her job than Steph Curry as
<v Speaker 2>it his It's coral. Yeah, like her attitude toward it is,
<v Speaker 2>uh infectious.
<v Speaker 1>That's right. We're moving the capital of the United States
<v Speaker 1>to Oakland Town Business. There we go. That's right side shows.
<v Speaker 1>Every single Sunday, everyone is getting whistle tips. The Raiders
<v Speaker 1>are coming back to Oakland. Oh shit, everyone's coming back.
<v Speaker 1>It's not gonna lie. I thought, instead of moving in La,
<v Speaker 1>what if I just go to Oakland folks at home. Uh,
<v Speaker 1>let's talk about video games.
<v Speaker 2>The grub is a.
<v Speaker 4>Guy that thinks he's by It's also known as a
<v Speaker 4>step bus. I'm a bubster man. Yeah, talk about what
<v Speaker 4>he wants. It just sits on his brokerass. So no,
<v Speaker 4>I don't want your friend code. No, I don't want
<v Speaker 4>to keep you mind.
<v Speaker 1>Speaking about winter sports, Jeff Grubb, you have been playing
<v Speaker 1>cool Borders.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I was definitely like feeling it after the Olympics,
<v Speaker 2>which I've always enjoyed my whole life. I've enjoyed watching
<v Speaker 2>the Olympics, and I was like, oh, you know, I
<v Speaker 2>definitely played some ten eighty. I'm like, I should try
<v Speaker 2>some other snowboarding games. Uh so, I cool Boarders just
<v Speaker 2>got added to switch through console archives from the people
<v Speaker 2>who do arcade archives, And yeah, that game was never
<v Speaker 2>any good. It was, it was, but it's still nostalgic
<v Speaker 2>in a lot of ways. You know that that price
<v Speaker 2>for you're probably not going to get your money's worth
<v Speaker 2>because the game was maybe mediocre to begin with and
<v Speaker 2>it hasn't aged any better, but it's still nostalgic. I
<v Speaker 2>don't know what the right price for that is. It's
<v Speaker 2>not like ten dollars or whatever I ended up paying
<v Speaker 2>for this thing. It's probably closer to like seven or eight,
<v Speaker 2>but whatever. These things do go on sale frequently and
<v Speaker 2>that's where you should probably be making these purchases. But
<v Speaker 2>as someone who was in the mood for snowboarding at
<v Speaker 2>the time, I picked it up and it's like, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>they just this is early three D and they thought
<v Speaker 2>the way you get a character to move right is
<v Speaker 2>move their body right, which is not how snowboarding works.
<v Speaker 2>You got to push against the ground with your feet,
<v Speaker 2>and that's what makes the games fun for me. But
<v Speaker 2>cool Boarders misses that, and still it has you know,
<v Speaker 2>the early PlayStation music where they're like this is just
<v Speaker 2>a CD. Let's put awesome music on here and dumbass
<v Speaker 2>characters and the PlayStation effect of just the terrain popping
<v Speaker 2>into view with those really chunky polygons. All that stuff
<v Speaker 2>still works. So I enjoyed myself even if the game
<v Speaker 2>was never and has never been good.
<v Speaker 1>God, I love chunky polygons. That also just has a
<v Speaker 1>good mouth feel to.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, which I'm trying to think of the one that
<v Speaker 3>I was like really into.
<v Speaker 4>You look like an amped guy to me. Playing was cool.
<v Speaker 3>So now I'm talking about Cool Borders. I think it
<v Speaker 3>was PlayStation.
<v Speaker 2>Maybe it was, it was late. Cool Borders has probably
<v Speaker 2>got better after this, I think it did.
<v Speaker 3>It's just I think it's too because that was the
<v Speaker 3>one where they were like cool, right, that sounds right?
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, yeah, I think I like Snowboard Kids more Summer.
<v Speaker 2>Kids, is okay. I like snowour Kids because that's the
<v Speaker 2>one where you have to like get on the ski. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>the ski lifts and that's like part of the course,
<v Speaker 2>like snowboard down and then you have to get in
<v Speaker 2>line to take the lift.
<v Speaker 4>Actually that's fun.
<v Speaker 1>I don't think I played any snow boarding games until
<v Speaker 1>like the p S two. For some reason, I think
<v Speaker 1>in my head when it really blew up. Yeah, I
<v Speaker 1>think in my head I was like, oh, I don't
<v Speaker 1>have snow near me. I can't play these.
<v Speaker 2>Games, so you're not allowed to.
<v Speaker 3>I'll say this, like we are in desperate, desperate ne
<v Speaker 3>of a skiing like a great skiing game.
<v Speaker 1>Now, would you want something Arcadie or like, well, so.
<v Speaker 3>What was the what was the down riders? The No,
<v Speaker 3>it's like downhill mountain skier writer, so much of.
<v Speaker 2>That right downhill.
<v Speaker 4>I'll find mountain downhill jam.
<v Speaker 3>No, No, Mike lonely, the loly mountain skier friends, lonely
<v Speaker 3>mountain snow riders, thank you dirty dirty.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>That uh that was fairly uh simmy and fairly realistic wise.
<v Speaker 3>But I'm talking about, you know, some kind of like
<v Speaker 3>in between that and Tony Hawk, but for skiing where
<v Speaker 3>I don't want it to be like goofy. I wanted
<v Speaker 3>to be like grounded in some realism. I mean, because
<v Speaker 3>that's what like the next generation of snow sports people
<v Speaker 3>like they're they're predominantly skiers, like they're all about that skiing.
<v Speaker 3>So I want that. I want that.
<v Speaker 2>Have you have you played steep?
<v Speaker 1>Uh? Yeah, steep is like it.
<v Speaker 3>I think it did all right, it evolved right, Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>so maybe I got maybe it's worth checking back in
<v Speaker 3>on that. But uh, I remember when it came out,
<v Speaker 3>I was like, ah, this is not doing it for me.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's maybe not quite in that buttery zone of
<v Speaker 2>where you won it between Arcadie and Semi. It's maybe
<v Speaker 2>a little bit. I don't know, it's in some no
<v Speaker 2>man's land. I still remember enjoying it, especially going back
<v Speaker 2>to it later after they did mix some updates. It
<v Speaker 2>did cutter well check it.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, that's cool, borders Jeff Grub, yous were sticking in
<v Speaker 1>the snow. Steam next Us is also happening here, folks.
<v Speaker 1>We're gonna go check out a bunch of demos this
<v Speaker 1>Friday during upf But in the meantime, we actually have
<v Speaker 1>a whole slew of demos we've been checking out. Jeff Grub,
<v Speaker 1>you've been playing the Sledding game.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's called Sledding Game. It might be out in
<v Speaker 2>early access, but they have a demo for you as
<v Speaker 2>they were updating it on Steam and it's I think
<v Speaker 2>it's a friends slop game. I played it by myself.
<v Speaker 2>Oh but it's it's pretty sure, So yeah, I know
<v Speaker 2>right exactly. I think you can have up to eight
<v Speaker 2>players join you, and you just play like a little
<v Speaker 2>pudgy frog looking guy, and you can go up the
<v Speaker 2>ski lift and once you get up there, you can
<v Speaker 2>hit the left shift button and you just drop one
<v Speaker 2>of them sleds, the little saucer sleds, and you start
<v Speaker 2>going down the hill and you're kind of committed to
<v Speaker 2>your path because you only have so much control in
<v Speaker 2>that thing, Like you can kind of lean a little bit,
<v Speaker 2>but it's mostly just about sled around. I think with
<v Speaker 2>your friends. I like the physics. It's got a cool
<v Speaker 2>like vibe to it. I'm not I'm not sure even
<v Speaker 2>if you did have a bunch of friends in there,
<v Speaker 2>like how much how much would you get out of here?
<v Speaker 2>But it's like I could tell it's very much about
<v Speaker 2>the sandbox. If we're just hanging out and we're gonna
<v Speaker 2>come up with the idea of, like let's go down
<v Speaker 2>that hill and see if we can make this jump.
<v Speaker 2>And if you get that kind of fun out of
<v Speaker 2>games like these, like if you if that recent skate
<v Speaker 2>game really hit you hard and you want something even
<v Speaker 2>dumber and even less serious. I think this be it.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, so you could throw snowballs at each other and
<v Speaker 4>there's like a yeah lodge. So it looks fun.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's definitely it looks like one of them hangout games,
<v Speaker 2>and yeah, maybe maybe worth checking out.
<v Speaker 1>I Hey, I'm all here for the renaissance of frogs
<v Speaker 1>and video games. Frogs are always frogs, super sick and
<v Speaker 1>and if I'm only playing as frogs and sledding game,
<v Speaker 1>Jeff Grubb, I will happily join you at the top
<v Speaker 1>of the mountain.
<v Speaker 2>All right, let's make it app and we'll throw this
<v Speaker 2>on our list of potential friends.
<v Speaker 1>Slap Games one of the demos I've checked out during
<v Speaker 1>this Steam Next fest. I think this game appeals to
<v Speaker 1>every single person on staff here. And that game is
<v Speaker 1>densh Attack Ah right, this is that means yes, yes, yes,
<v Speaker 1>uh gang. What if you could do sick ass tricks
<v Speaker 1>on a train?
<v Speaker 2>What if every time I do sick tricks? Yeah?
<v Speaker 1>What if you could also drift as a train just
<v Speaker 1>off the rails, No, on the rails. You gotta drift
<v Speaker 1>to hit that corner, baby, and then you got to
<v Speaker 1>get it in like the right time at right, So
<v Speaker 1>you hit the green perfect zone and then you get
<v Speaker 1>a little boost densh attack is if you mushed up
<v Speaker 1>Jet Grind, Radio, Tony Hawk and subway surfers. Right. This
<v Speaker 1>is positive because this is a game on rails where
<v Speaker 1>you are navigating through like a small map, and within
<v Speaker 1>this map there are different obstacles that you will either
<v Speaker 1>have to jump over, yes, jump over as a train
<v Speaker 1>drift through. And then there are different tracks where you fork,
<v Speaker 1>so you'll choose to go left right, and then the
<v Speaker 1>mobility and this sounds I know, this sounds odd talking
<v Speaker 1>about mobility as a train on tracks, but the mobility
<v Speaker 1>is very fun and it just feels good. The initial
<v Speaker 1>tutorial felt very overwhelming because they're introducing so many mechanics,
<v Speaker 1>like you have to honk your horn as a train
<v Speaker 1>to open up like those train gates you have. Of course,
<v Speaker 1>if you matt like a hold left trigger all the way,
<v Speaker 1>you go to a hard stop, and you have to
<v Speaker 1>go to a hard stop for some obstacles. But also
<v Speaker 1>you have to like kind of feather left trigger with
<v Speaker 1>a direction button so you can drift around a corner.
<v Speaker 1>And then there's like a whole timing mechanic as you're
<v Speaker 1>drifting of when you let go of the button so
<v Speaker 1>you can hit a perfect drift and continue your momentum.
<v Speaker 1>And then they introduce, Okay, there's gonna be other obstacles
<v Speaker 1>that you can't break for, so you're gonna have to
<v Speaker 1>switch tracks. Cool, all right, I'm following. I'm still following.
<v Speaker 1>And then they start adding, oh, hey, by the way,
<v Speaker 1>your train can jump. And then since you're jumping with
<v Speaker 1>your train anyway, why don't you just flick the right
<v Speaker 1>analog stick like it's a skate game and do tricks
<v Speaker 1>with it. So not only are you now navigating through
<v Speaker 1>debris filled tracks to get to a destination, you are
<v Speaker 1>also chaining together tricks on the way and avoiding various
<v Speaker 1>different types of obstacles. At one point, I had jumped
<v Speaker 1>over like those Easter Island style heads like Mawaii statues,
<v Speaker 1>did like a three sixty pop shove. It slammed my
<v Speaker 1>train back down onto the tracks, and I think I
<v Speaker 1>was doing a manual because I was only on the
<v Speaker 1>back of my train. And the whole time, like my
<v Speaker 1>eyes are getting experiencing fatigue, so they're starting to water
<v Speaker 1>because there's so much happening, and like the viol.
<v Speaker 2>This is also probably happening in like a couple of seconds, right.
<v Speaker 2>It seems like it's very very fast.
<v Speaker 1>Very fast, like the initial runs through like a level
<v Speaker 1>will be like maybe like a minute, minute thirty. It
<v Speaker 1>does also give kind of like burnout vibes where there's
<v Speaker 1>like kind of like a near miss mechanic happening if
<v Speaker 1>you like dodge and switch tracks at the very last minute,
<v Speaker 1>so you wind up not hitting like an obstacle or whatever.
<v Speaker 1>It's really cool. The demo lets you play through it
<v Speaker 1>a couple of times. I highly suggest it densh Attack
<v Speaker 1>just because of like, what a weird fucking premise to
<v Speaker 1>drift a train and then do tricks around it. I'm
<v Speaker 1>curious as to why not only frogs have come up
<v Speaker 1>a bunch in video games, but also trains because another
<v Speaker 1>demo that I've checked out friend of the website, romy
<v Speaker 1>Ismael made this Australia did it, and this is another
<v Speaker 1>game set on a train that it's interesting because upon
<v Speaker 1>initial research and looking at the game, I thought it
<v Speaker 1>was it is a tactics game, but not tactics in
<v Speaker 1>the way that I was expecting, where it's turn based
<v Speaker 1>kind of like into the breach or mugenics right. It
<v Speaker 1>is kind of a tower defense train game where you
<v Speaker 1>are fending off waves of bugs, but you are positioning
<v Speaker 1>your characters around to protect your train core. But you're
<v Speaker 1>putting them on these tracks. And then the enemies are
<v Speaker 1>coming from four different lanes cardinal directions, so like north, east, west, south,
<v Speaker 1>and the bugs are slowly coming in, and then you
<v Speaker 1>are placing your characters on the tracks and you are
<v Speaker 1>not directly telling them to attack. They just have like
<v Speaker 1>a cone of projection of like hey, I attack straight
<v Speaker 1>down this way, or I will attack in a cone
<v Speaker 1>or a T shape. As the enemies progress down, and
<v Speaker 1>some of the characters that you position or play as
<v Speaker 1>they don't do any damage, they'll do like some type
<v Speaker 1>of d buff like poisoning radiation damage. And it's interesting
<v Speaker 1>because then as you kill more enemies bugs in this game,
<v Speaker 1>you are building up a type of currency, and you
<v Speaker 1>use that currency to buy more characters, and as long
<v Speaker 1>as you have more money, you can keep buying people.
<v Speaker 1>And the level up mechanic is when you merge two
<v Speaker 1>characters together, So you'll merge like a gun slinger with
<v Speaker 1>another gun slinger, as long as they're like both Level
<v Speaker 1>one so there's kind of like a three's mechanic happening here,
<v Speaker 1>and then they will level up together. But then the
<v Speaker 1>interesting thing that they add to this is, okay, well,
<v Speaker 1>if you have a level one nomad character that shoots
<v Speaker 1>in like a t pattern and you merge that with
<v Speaker 1>gun Slinger, and depending like which way you merge them,
<v Speaker 1>I'm not talking coyote style here, Like if you merge
<v Speaker 1>the gun Slinger to the nomad or the nomad to
<v Speaker 1>the gun Slinger, you get a different type of character.
<v Speaker 1>So there's a lot of mix and match happening here.
<v Speaker 1>But the most interesting thing in Australia did it is
<v Speaker 1>they really do play with the whole track mechanic of
<v Speaker 1>the characters because some of the characters don't move well,
<v Speaker 1>so if you're trying to repo them to get to
<v Speaker 1>a different side of where the enemy lanes are, it
<v Speaker 1>would take a couple turns to do so. But what
<v Speaker 1>this game does, because they are on train tracks, you
<v Speaker 1>use a button to move the actual train track, so
<v Speaker 1>it winds up shifting everyone around on the map, so
<v Speaker 1>you can futs around with the tactics with that gang.
<v Speaker 1>It's a big year for trains, I think it's a
<v Speaker 1>year of the train. Also, wow, I feel compel to
<v Speaker 1>get on trains.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, we're gonna throw you on a train.
<v Speaker 4>Absolutely, it's so us tiles, So you know that's got
<v Speaker 4>to make you happy.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, yeah, yeah. I'm still a little bit confused though,
<v Speaker 1>because like they will tell you, hey, you have to
<v Speaker 1>go depart leave this map, and we suggest you leave
<v Speaker 1>it within the next three turns. But so far in
<v Speaker 1>like and I recognize that we're still in a demo
<v Speaker 1>with it, but it's like I'm I jump into the map,
<v Speaker 1>I get all my units sorted, and then I have
<v Speaker 1>to get them out. So I don't know what the
<v Speaker 1>overall flow or how I'm supposed to like stick around
<v Speaker 1>in a map, or what else I'm gaining other than
<v Speaker 1>just more currency is.
<v Speaker 2>There is the theme, like it's not strictly Western, right,
<v Speaker 2>it's like sci fi fantasy western, Like, how are they yeah,
<v Speaker 2>fust that up?
<v Speaker 1>Initially it starts kind of like Western adjacent because your
<v Speaker 1>initial one of your initial units just looks like a
<v Speaker 1>cowboy with guns. And then as I progress through the demo,
<v Speaker 1>that was just kind of like the general setup, and
<v Speaker 1>then out of nowhere, the bugs have now mutated and
<v Speaker 1>evolved and now they're like half robot or cyborg bugs
<v Speaker 1>where yeah.
<v Speaker 4>Like now they're shooting me.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and so now they're shooting out of like pro
<v Speaker 1>normal Australia stuff. Okay, this normal Australia stuff. Right, the
<v Speaker 1>toilet goes the other way. The bugs evolve in different
<v Speaker 1>ways into cyborgs, right, yeah, different cyborgs. Another demo that
<v Speaker 1>I've checked out, folks, and I think a little bit
<v Speaker 1>bummed because I think Dan picked this up in Fantasy
<v Speaker 1>Critic from the folks that made Vampire Survivors, Vampire Crawlers
<v Speaker 1>and gang. I'm sure we've all lost a significant chunk
<v Speaker 1>of time to Vampire Survivors. What if we made it
<v Speaker 1>kind of turn based. What if we made it a
<v Speaker 1>dungeon crawler?
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, yeah, this looks cool.
<v Speaker 1>You mean slow it down, yes, slow it down, but
<v Speaker 1>still keep that rapid pace of Vampire Survivors and add
<v Speaker 1>no cards to it.
<v Speaker 4>It's got cards. Just people like cards, unlike when that
<v Speaker 4>Marvel game happened. Not when people are excited about the
<v Speaker 4>cards again. Cards are having a moment in twenty twenty six.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, cards, trains, frogs. You heard it here, folks and
<v Speaker 1>that's just the general concept of the game.
<v Speaker 2>It is.
<v Speaker 1>They took Vampire Survivors and made it a dungeon crawler,
<v Speaker 1>and the combat is all dealt through cards, and similar
<v Speaker 1>to other card games. I'll slay the Spire, you have
<v Speaker 1>a man a pool. Cards cost manna. But in that
<v Speaker 1>same Vampire Survivor's mold, as you defeat enemies, you're getting
<v Speaker 1>XP and then as you level up, you're getting different
<v Speaker 1>styles of cards, and those cards are just like the
<v Speaker 1>different weapons that you would get in Vampire Survivors. So,
<v Speaker 1>oh cool. I got some spinach, I got the Bible,
<v Speaker 1>I got the Acts. Is there garlic. I haven't seen
<v Speaker 1>garlic yet, but I'm under the assumption that there will.
<v Speaker 4>I see it in the screenshot. There's garlic.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, garlic confirm, Garlic confirmed, Garlic confirmed. And yeah, it's
<v Speaker 1>the overall flow very fast paced. I thought they would
<v Speaker 1>like significantly slow it down since they chose to make
<v Speaker 1>it into a dungeon crawler. But like you were still
<v Speaker 1>blasting through these enemies.
<v Speaker 3>They found a way to turbo charge it.
<v Speaker 2>Don't worry.
<v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, I'm excited to see how zany they will
<v Speaker 1>get with this because they're also they're also doing the
<v Speaker 1>thing where in older games, and this just reminds me
<v Speaker 1>of like Arcade Shooters where you'll call in like a support.
<v Speaker 1>It's funny because this reminds me of Metal Slug a lot. Okay,
<v Speaker 1>because you will occasionally get a card to play that
<v Speaker 1>is a different character, like I forget the character names
<v Speaker 1>in Vampire Survivors, but then as you deploy or play him,
<v Speaker 1>he'll be like as Cistern armor up and it's like,
<v Speaker 1>why is this in Vampire Survivors that they just toned
<v Speaker 1>it gone with this tone? But it's really great. It's fantastic.
<v Speaker 1>I could see some people being put off by the
<v Speaker 1>dungeon crawling aspect, but I think this will quickly be
<v Speaker 1>become based off of the demo at least quickly go
<v Speaker 1>off the rails in a great weird odd ways.
<v Speaker 4>Do we think Dan got this for fancy critic? He
<v Speaker 4>Dan loves the Empire Survivors. You think he's gonna like
<v Speaker 4>this because again, he likes Survivors a lot, but a
<v Speaker 4>first person dungeon crawler. I can't think of a genre
<v Speaker 4>he might be less interested in.
<v Speaker 1>I feel like because of the Vampire Survivors wrapping, he
<v Speaker 1>might get into this.
<v Speaker 2>I mean you said it's got a like a fast
<v Speaker 2>paced right, Like it like moves really quickly.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, like you'll you'll have a you'll have a small
<v Speaker 1>map and it'll show it'll excuse me, it'll show where
<v Speaker 1>the different enemies are and then like, oh, here's the
<v Speaker 1>boss character to take out to proceed through the level.
<v Speaker 1>It it feels like it's moving at a rapid click enough,
<v Speaker 1>and that like it's still providing the dopamine on like
<v Speaker 1>an interesting schedule that Vampire Survivors operated with. So I
<v Speaker 1>feel like Dan could get into this. He never shuts
<v Speaker 1>up about Ettrian Odyssey. Yeah, yes, this is Gateway Drug.
<v Speaker 1>He's gonna get really into first person dungeon crawlers.
<v Speaker 4>That's right.
<v Speaker 1>He's gonna go check out Persona Q for the Nintendo
<v Speaker 1>three DS.
<v Speaker 4>Yes, yes, right, yes, and the original Fancy Star only
<v Speaker 4>the original one.
<v Speaker 1>Only the original one. But yes, folks, we will be
<v Speaker 1>checking out a boatload of demos this Friday on Professional
<v Speaker 1>Fridays for Steam Next Fest other games we've been playing. Mikey,
<v Speaker 1>I'm curious to see what you think about Demon Tides. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>so this is interesting. It's a sequel to Demon Turf
<v Speaker 1>which was a n D three D platformer, and that
<v Speaker 1>one stood out a lot from the art style because
<v Speaker 1>it was doing a kind of three D world but
<v Speaker 1>sort of two D sprite characters running around there.
<v Speaker 4>It kind of looked like that Sonic fan game Sonic
<v Speaker 4>Roboblast that was made in the Doom Engine. It was
<v Speaker 4>a really cool art style, but sometimes made it a
<v Speaker 4>little hard to kind of really get a sense of
<v Speaker 4>the depth. Also, that game had this combat system that
<v Speaker 4>I don't think anybody really liked, and it really slowed
<v Speaker 4>the game down. They even didn't expand alone afterwards. That
<v Speaker 4>got rid of that, and now this full on sequel
<v Speaker 4>here is super doubling down on just the platforming. You
<v Speaker 4>don't have the kind of two D sprite stuff. Everything
<v Speaker 4>is a three D character model now and they all
<v Speaker 4>look really good. But the movement in this game feels fantastic.
<v Speaker 4>You have all sorts of abilities, a lot of horizontal
<v Speaker 4>movement that you can do. You can kind of you know,
<v Speaker 4>you can jump, and then you're this little like Demon girls.
<v Speaker 4>You kind of like do this spinning move then out
<v Speaker 4>of that you do another jump into your bat form
<v Speaker 4>and get a little bit further. Then you can also
<v Speaker 4>do a dash in mid air, and they just straight
<v Speaker 4>up took the Celeste dash in this game, where you dash,
<v Speaker 4>your hair turns white until you touch the ground or
<v Speaker 4>dash into a crystal and then you get it out. Yeah, right,
<v Speaker 4>so you have that as a mechanic as well. They
<v Speaker 4>kept the thing from the first game where you can
<v Speaker 4>plant your own checkpoint flag wherever you want to, and
<v Speaker 4>that's like how the checkpoint system works. If you die,
<v Speaker 4>if you want to return to that you can. Well,
<v Speaker 4>it's cool. Here is the format. Here is this is
<v Speaker 4>this is a Bowser's fury. Like actually, yeah, especially way
<v Speaker 4>since so far pretty open world. You have this sneak
<v Speaker 4>form that's kind of like your sonic rolling form, but
<v Speaker 4>you can also do it in water. Is swimmer really
<v Speaker 4>fast and you go these different kind of islands or
<v Speaker 4>sections and then there it's like all right, there's two
<v Speaker 4>of these things to collect and fifty of like this
<v Speaker 4>currency to collect, and then you're just kind of running
<v Speaker 4>around and platforming looking for those items. There are leader
<v Speaker 4>boards and all these two So yeah, I mean I've
<v Speaker 4>played for maybe just an hour so far, but I
<v Speaker 4>was really impressed at the moment. The movement feels super good.
<v Speaker 2>I do like the style.
<v Speaker 4>It does a little bit of the indie game kind
<v Speaker 4>of we made all these characters and you sure are
<v Speaker 4>gonna mean and talk to all of them for a while.
<v Speaker 4>It definitely feels like a sequel and like, oh, who
<v Speaker 4>are all these people? I guess they're from the last game.
<v Speaker 4>There's a little bit of a recap, but there's a
<v Speaker 4>part of me that's like, it's not the longest intro
<v Speaker 4>in the world, but you think about Mario Odyssey or
<v Speaker 4>most Mario games that aren't Sunshine, and they just know, like,
<v Speaker 4>just just get going, just get going. This wonders a
<v Speaker 4>little bit more of a wind up. Once it got
<v Speaker 4>going and I was in that sort of more open environment,
<v Speaker 4>I think this feels really slick.
<v Speaker 1>Nice.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'll be spending some more time with it. You
<v Speaker 2>did you try the first one, right, And it was
<v Speaker 2>the thing that maybe didn't rub you the right way
<v Speaker 2>was what do you.
<v Speaker 4>Remember comb It was the combat, I think, especially because
<v Speaker 4>there were like combat rooms where like, you know, you're
<v Speaker 4>doing this great platform and then all of a sudden,
<v Speaker 4>it's you're stuck in this kind of circle until you
<v Speaker 4>beat all the enemies. And the combat was relatively real.
<v Speaker 4>It was like a worse version of Psychonauts combat is
<v Speaker 4>how I would maybe describe it. And you know that
<v Speaker 4>was I think that was most people's complain with it,
<v Speaker 4>and they know that's why there was again an expanded
<v Speaker 4>loans a demon turf called Neon Splash that I think
<v Speaker 4>just just got rid of the combat. And now this
<v Speaker 4>game so again you have that dash move and that
<v Speaker 4>does take out enemies, and that's fine, that's what the
<v Speaker 4>combat is. So yeah, if you're if you played the
<v Speaker 4>first one and weren't super into it, I think I
<v Speaker 4>would still try Demon Tides. I think they made a
<v Speaker 4>lot of smart choices here. I'm yeah, definitely digging it
<v Speaker 4>so far. I'm going to be curious to play more.
<v Speaker 4>We taught as were. I'm always on the search for
<v Speaker 4>the first indie three D former that feels just as
<v Speaker 4>good as maybe some of the big boys. Not that
<v Speaker 4>I'm expecting one to be as good necessarily as a
<v Speaker 4>Mario game, but you know, maybe as good as a
<v Speaker 4>Jack and Daxter.
<v Speaker 1>Sure, yeah, yeah, this looks like a fun game to
<v Speaker 1>like hop and bop and run around in.
<v Speaker 4>The movement feels again really good, and yes, it's like
<v Speaker 4>so much movement abilities, and it's clear that you can
<v Speaker 4>kind of really string things together, and that's why they
<v Speaker 4>have the leader boards. It almost does have a little
<v Speaker 4>bit of that kind of like all right, like really
<v Speaker 4>chain things together, like do your little speed run on
<v Speaker 4>this level? And I might even get into some of that.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, that sounds good. I'll probably I'll pick it up
<v Speaker 2>and start doing that.
<v Speaker 4>I wonder how it runs on steam Deck, but we'll see, guys,
<v Speaker 4>they're on PC.
<v Speaker 1>I know that there's a lot wrong with the world
<v Speaker 1>right now, but I'm honest to God think that a
<v Speaker 1>lot of our problems would be solved if we had
<v Speaker 1>advanced rail technology.
<v Speaker 3>Well, actually a lot of countries do have advanced rail technology.
<v Speaker 1>No, no, no, I don't mean some ways. I mean grinding
<v Speaker 1>on rails with our feet. Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>I was making more of a joke about like our
<v Speaker 3>shitty infrastructure.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, you're right too, you mean like a sonic adventure
<v Speaker 4>to world, Yes, exactly.
<v Speaker 1>I think soap shoes should have been much bigger than
<v Speaker 1>they were.
<v Speaker 2>Soap Shoot, I was like, it's not Healey's. Those are
<v Speaker 2>the ones with the wheels in the heels, But what
<v Speaker 2>are the other ones called soaps?
<v Speaker 1>That's right, yes, don't worry.
<v Speaker 3>It was It was like a grinding plate, right yeah,
<v Speaker 3>and the.
<v Speaker 2>Middle plate built into the shoe him and then and
<v Speaker 2>he would like slip on him and fall down normal. Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, Like, whoops, I accidentally grinded these stairs that didn't
<v Speaker 3>mean to.
<v Speaker 2>I ground the earth and it grinds me back. Ye.
<v Speaker 1>Could you replace those plates? Yeah, you could. You screw
<v Speaker 1>them in. I had a pair of you know what
<v Speaker 1>else bothered me.
<v Speaker 3>Remember those like flip flops that had like a can
<v Speaker 3>opener built into the bottom.
<v Speaker 1>Of Yeah, it was different. Do you ever see that?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, was a Jimmy Buffett pack. Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I just feel like, I don't know, maybe we
<v Speaker 3>don't bring the bottom of my foot to the place
<v Speaker 3>where my mouth will be you.
<v Speaker 1>Know, fair, fair, that's where it comes from. Yeah, maybe
<v Speaker 1>we should have progressed further down foot technology, you know,
<v Speaker 1>like like maybe.
<v Speaker 2>The Internet where I have unfortunately yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Oh okay, Well, I would love to be wake up
<v Speaker 1>in that world where everything is advanced and reimagined, just
<v Speaker 1>like Mike Minatti has continued to play Dragon Quest seven Reimagined.
<v Speaker 4>I beat it. I finished this game took about forty hours,
<v Speaker 4>which was significantly shorter than the three DS version I played,
<v Speaker 4>which that was maybe seventy so I yeah, thirty hours faster,
<v Speaker 4>which is a combination of streamlining things. Also, yes, that's
<v Speaker 4>where the game is very easy, but by far the
<v Speaker 4>easiest Dragon Quest I played. I don't think I had
<v Speaker 4>a single party wipe, not a single kind of game over,
<v Speaker 4>which for a forty hour RPG, that's interesting. I definitely
<v Speaker 4>show it was tuned a little bit hard. It was
<v Speaker 4>beginning to feel a smidge breezy, but again, the uh
<v Speaker 4>breeziness of it was nice. It was a very chill game.
<v Speaker 4>The vibes were good. There's like I didn't with the
<v Speaker 4>cut content at no point that I feel like I
<v Speaker 4>was missing anything until a little bit towards the end,
<v Speaker 4>where you know, I don't know, maybe Dragon Quest seven
<v Speaker 4>spoilers here, everybody, if you care about that stuff, I don't.
<v Speaker 4>I don't uh to be the plot. It's not the
<v Speaker 4>important part of Jaquiscape. But there's like there's a part
<v Speaker 4>in that game where a character is missing and everyone's like,
<v Speaker 4>oh man, hopefully find this character. They're probably dead, and
<v Speaker 4>I remember the original game like you find them, and in.
<v Speaker 2>This game like that all that happened.
<v Speaker 4>They're missing and then like the end of the game happened,
<v Speaker 4>and when I was at the party, he was just there.
<v Speaker 4>I was like, oh, I was like I missed something,
<v Speaker 4>and I looked at him and I was like, ah, no,
<v Speaker 4>I did it. They kind of just sort of kind
<v Speaker 4>of I don't know, skipped part of that there.
<v Speaker 2>So there's there was a little.
<v Speaker 4>Weirdness with the editing, but not a ton overall. I
<v Speaker 4>think this is almost certainly the best way to play games.
<v Speaker 4>You're an absolute secho and you want to have like
<v Speaker 4>that real one hundred hours one experience, and I know
<v Speaker 4>some people do feel that way.
<v Speaker 1>It's so it's so weird that my like internal justification
<v Speaker 1>is like, oh forty hours, that's not bad. Okay, uh
<v Speaker 1>love it? Uh did? What is the overall tone near
<v Speaker 1>the end of like this Dragon Quest Mikey, Is it
<v Speaker 1>still Oh, we going to save the town, save this
<v Speaker 1>pastoral village? Yeah?
<v Speaker 4>Gets bigger. There's basically Satan shows up. You gotta kill
<v Speaker 4>Satan getting out? Oh yeah, it's kill We're killing him.
<v Speaker 4>It always turns in what are we killing him? He
<v Speaker 4>has a problem with God, and I guess you know,
<v Speaker 4>we've picked his side, and uh, I'm.
<v Speaker 3>Sorry, most the most inclusive deity.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, what are we saying?
<v Speaker 3>I don't want to get into some sort of theological
<v Speaker 3>argument here.
<v Speaker 4>But my man gets a bad rat is going off
<v Speaker 4>that car with all the first year, you're watching your
<v Speaker 4>your your, you're photographing animals, do it, and you're talking
<v Speaker 4>about the pros as Satan? What called have you joined?
<v Speaker 1>This is not a new thing.
<v Speaker 2>This is not a new thing. Is it soon?
<v Speaker 4>It's gonna sleep on a hexagram or something?
<v Speaker 3>It's not a hexagram is a word? I think you
<v Speaker 3>might have just invented. But is that a pentacle?
<v Speaker 1>No? I mean, you know it's it's not a new development.
<v Speaker 4>Uhgram.
<v Speaker 2>You know he's defending his hexagram. Instagrams are a thing.
<v Speaker 2>I'm sure it's a word. Are they a Satanic thing?
<v Speaker 2>It's not.
<v Speaker 4>Something I know so a little about Satan. I don't
<v Speaker 4>even know what his shape of preferences.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, wow, well there you go.
<v Speaker 3>All right, Well I'll learn you that, don't worry.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, at least it's it's I mean, this is a
<v Speaker 4>pretty trophy RPG for that's part of the charm. It's
<v Speaker 4>iverything you expect where the first thing you're doing is
<v Speaker 4>you know, saving a sheep, and then by the end
<v Speaker 4>of the game you fight god Insanan. Yeah, the Classics, that's.
<v Speaker 1>The that's the pipeline, right.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, uh huh. It's it's always weird to remember
<v Speaker 2>this game came out. I think I think it was
<v Speaker 2>after uh Final Fantasy x uh that was like right
<v Speaker 2>before Final Fantasy. Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>Maybe in the US it was right around then, but
<v Speaker 4>yeah it was at US, Yes, in the US, that's right.
<v Speaker 2>In the Japan it was a little bit different. I
<v Speaker 2>think it came out a year before in Japan, Yes,
<v Speaker 2>a late PS one game, and it's still doing the
<v Speaker 2>two D sprite. So at the time, the writing around
<v Speaker 2>this was no one cares about this thing, Like at
<v Speaker 2>least the United States, it's like this is old stuff
<v Speaker 2>for people who are obsessed with dragon quests. In Japan,
<v Speaker 2>we still call it Dragon Warrior. So it's nice that
<v Speaker 2>they've done all this work multiple times now to kind
<v Speaker 2>of like rescue this game, you think it like they
<v Speaker 2>did in the end.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, like I said, maybe there's I mean, look, this
<v Speaker 4>game has already had two remakes, so you can leave
<v Speaker 4>it alone for a while now. Just like if there's
<v Speaker 4>ever a dragon Quest seven reimagined definitive edition, maybe you
<v Speaker 4>put back a little bit of some of the cuts up.
<v Speaker 4>What sucks a little bit is a lot of the
<v Speaker 4>drag Quist games used to have these casinos, and I
<v Speaker 4>don't not that I think it was any amazing content,
<v Speaker 4>but they've been sort of cut from the series, mostly
<v Speaker 4>just for ratings board stuff and right, so that's a
<v Speaker 4>little lame. So it's like, come on, give me my
<v Speaker 4>fun slimme casino back. Maybe put back in a little bit.
<v Speaker 4>And you know, there's kind of like like the big
<v Speaker 4>change to the plot with a kind of like a
<v Speaker 4>character who goes away and then comes back is handled
<v Speaker 4>I don't know, a little half heartedly. So I was like,
<v Speaker 4>I appreciate they did it, but I wish maybe they
<v Speaker 4>went even further with that sort of thing.
<v Speaker 2>So yeah, there's stuff.
<v Speaker 4>You know, they did. It suddenly turned drag Quest seven
<v Speaker 4>into like the best entry in the series or something
<v Speaker 4>like that, but I didn't enjoy it. I'm more interested
<v Speaker 4>in them doing you know, stracqu was four, five, and six.
<v Speaker 4>Those are probably gonna get HD two D remakes. Eight.
<v Speaker 4>You can give that basically an enhanced support. So you
<v Speaker 4>don't want to remake that game's visuals too much. It
<v Speaker 4>already looked good and then nine they got to get
<v Speaker 4>off the DS. That's probably a big priority too.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, okay, good game. God I continue to be Dragon
<v Speaker 1>Quest curious. I don't. I played a little bit of
<v Speaker 1>eleven and I liked it, but I think I fell
<v Speaker 1>off just because of timing.
<v Speaker 4>It's a big game.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. I always liked like the look of them, just
<v Speaker 1>because of the Toriama art style and everything. Another game
<v Speaker 1>that I like the look of because it reminds me
<v Speaker 1>of another friend slop game in Peak. Last Friday, the
<v Speaker 1>four of us checked out Super Battle Golf and then
<v Speaker 1>we shot each other a bunch.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I watched golf all Yeah. I watch some clips
<v Speaker 2>of other people who were like even more, just immediately
<v Speaker 2>even before, like the first t off, they were instead
<v Speaker 2>of teen up at the ball, would just go tee
<v Speaker 2>up to their friends and hit them instead. It's like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>we did not even exploit the full possibility to be
<v Speaker 2>shits one another.
<v Speaker 4>I bet if Dan was there, we would have discovered
<v Speaker 4>that tech very early. Instantly.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, we would have forgot it was a golf game. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>for folks that don't know, Super Battle Golf multiplayer up
<v Speaker 1>to eight people. I believe a golf game where you're
<v Speaker 1>racing to get the ball in the hole. That's what
<v Speaker 1>it's called, right, It's just called a hole.
<v Speaker 2>It's just a cup. Yeah, yeah, the whole.
<v Speaker 1>But there are Mario Kart like power ups on the
<v Speaker 1>way over there, and most of them, all of them
<v Speaker 1>actually are just to futs around and mess with your friends,
<v Speaker 1>for instance, like an elephant rifle right right.
<v Speaker 3>Look, I may have or may not have said certain
<v Speaker 3>things during that upf No one knows. There's no way
<v Speaker 3>to tell. But I think on the other side of it,
<v Speaker 3>a few days removed, I really did.
<v Speaker 1>Like that game.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, that was a lot of fun. I think I
<v Speaker 3>wish it had like I don't know if it does.
<v Speaker 1>Does this have like local co op?
<v Speaker 2>Oh, I don't know, maybe not.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I feel like I gotta go back and look.
<v Speaker 3>I feel like it probably does not, just based off
<v Speaker 3>like what they're kind of doing there. Yeah, but yeah,
<v Speaker 3>there's something about this game that, like, I don't know,
<v Speaker 3>I think a part of me also.
<v Speaker 1>So like it's like the shooting weird beau is that weird?
<v Speaker 1>You're just kind of like.
<v Speaker 3>Loading up like a double barrel shotgun, all of sudd
<v Speaker 3>I mean, I know, it's not like graphic or anything.
<v Speaker 3>It's just kind of like weird where I almost.
<v Speaker 2>Like, yeah, I think the character models like sell it, right,
<v Speaker 2>these are just little dumb goblins. Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I'm not saying like, oh, this is violent. I'm
<v Speaker 3>just saying like, I just think it's like, like I
<v Speaker 3>feel like those weapons don't make sense in the world
<v Speaker 3>that they've created.
<v Speaker 1>Sure, which is because like the way that the land
<v Speaker 1>mines are shaped and looked like, oh haha, funny cartoon
<v Speaker 1>the likenes.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, it should all be actual like World War
<v Speaker 2>two ordinance, Like, it should be very realistic.
<v Speaker 3>Like I was expecting a gun to have like a
<v Speaker 3>boxing glove pop out of it, you know what I mean,
<v Speaker 3>Like that kind.
<v Speaker 2>Of thing, you know, rocket propeller grenade. That's that feels
<v Speaker 2>really dumb and cartoony. Yeah, I get what I mean.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, totally with the smoke and everything.
<v Speaker 2>Like, for sure, I was so good at this game.
<v Speaker 4>I like that I destroyed you guys.
<v Speaker 2>I would have I think we would have done better
<v Speaker 2>had the game worked for us. That that ramp was very,
<v Speaker 2>very frustrating. I still don't know what we did wrong.
<v Speaker 2>It's like, Okay, I can tell this game is early
<v Speaker 2>in some ways.
<v Speaker 4>Now I think you're just bad and I think it
<v Speaker 4>was probably just probably just punishing.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, putting the pudding is like a problem.
<v Speaker 3>Like I think the putting, I know, you just have
<v Speaker 3>to change the degree, uh sort of tilt of the club,
<v Speaker 3>like I don't know, give me like some club options there.
<v Speaker 3>Let me also like hit people with my club like
<v Speaker 3>the way on you could, but like I don't know,
<v Speaker 3>I don't want to. I want to like swing it
<v Speaker 3>over my head. That ship, it's good. I think it's
<v Speaker 3>better than it has any right to be. I think, uh,
<v Speaker 3>you know, for my money, I enjoyed that. I will
<v Speaker 3>play that some more.
<v Speaker 2>I feel I want to. I want to play it
<v Speaker 2>again for sure.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I feel, uh this website has poisoned my brain
<v Speaker 1>because every time we play a multiplayer game like this
<v Speaker 1>that has some type of competitive aspect, I'm like, all right,
<v Speaker 1>which websites can we beat?
<v Speaker 4>I saw the kind of funny people we're playing it.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I mean, but just like how much more demoralizing? Yeah?
<v Speaker 2>Can we get like a good website to play against?
<v Speaker 2>For once?
<v Speaker 4>We gotta keep it taking I'm down. We gotta make
<v Speaker 4>sure they never forget their place.
<v Speaker 1>Our friendly February and you know what I promised, Barrett,
<v Speaker 1>I would set the record straight. They may have beaten
<v Speaker 1>us at Night Rain, but we'll never know the record
<v Speaker 1>of that. Yeah, that's right, I don't know. Sorry, sorry,
<v Speaker 1>big dog.
<v Speaker 3>You guys played Night Rain, Okay, whatever you say.
<v Speaker 1>Sure, sure, I don't remember this. This is like all they.
<v Speaker 4>Over there is played Drumsoft games. Of course they have
<v Speaker 4>that one. Yeah, so we don't even count that.
<v Speaker 1>Right, right, Okay, I'm going to get an angry text
<v Speaker 1>in the near future. I assume, Jeff Grubb, you have
<v Speaker 1>been futzing around with a lot of technology, and I'm
<v Speaker 1>excited more excited to hear about one of these. But
<v Speaker 1>I would also like to hear more about the superstation.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, and update on the superstation, which I did talk
<v Speaker 2>about on this show last week, right, I think. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>So I've been messing around with it more, got a
<v Speaker 2>new SD card where I'm putting even more ROMs on there.
<v Speaker 2>I've got a lot of the other cores working. It
<v Speaker 2>does require a little bit of futs in, just like
<v Speaker 2>I said, just like a mister does that said It's like, Man,
<v Speaker 2>myster's really come a long way, where a lot of
<v Speaker 2>the benefits of like getting the Analog three D were like, Hey,
<v Speaker 2>for the N sixty four, you're going to get these
<v Speaker 2>great CRT filters. They've done so much great work in
<v Speaker 2>the community on mister, A lot of that stuff UF
<v Speaker 2>is also on there ready to go. And even though
<v Speaker 2>it was like out putting it at ten ADP, those filters
<v Speaker 2>were still really good. You kind of expect you to
<v Speaker 2>expect it to need four K to like actually get
<v Speaker 2>a CRT filter to look right, like, that's not necessarily
<v Speaker 2>the case. But yeah, it's working really well. I'm enjoying it.
<v Speaker 2>I'll say that the plastic feels a little cheap. I
<v Speaker 2>was kind of expecting to be to feel slightly more premium,
<v Speaker 2>but based on the price and everything you're getting here,
<v Speaker 2>it does feel like it feels three D printed, which
<v Speaker 2>you know that kind of has a certain, I don't know,
<v Speaker 2>a low quality plastic touch to it. But yeah, and
<v Speaker 2>then when we talk about the other thing.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, this is the first time I've heard of this thing, Grub,
<v Speaker 1>and I am I need to know more. He oh God,
<v Speaker 1>put it away, Grub. Now you have the is this
<v Speaker 1>send in, send in light guns.
<v Speaker 2>Send in. Yes, there's a man. There's a man in
<v Speaker 2>Great Britain whose last name is send In and he
<v Speaker 2>makes light guns. I'm gonna try something real quick. Don't
<v Speaker 2>don't freak out youan, Uh, what's happenings? You're using the
<v Speaker 2>camera on this thing.
<v Speaker 3>I hate that. I'm a virtual boy about.
<v Speaker 1>This is going.
<v Speaker 3>I don't want to see something I don't want to
<v Speaker 3>I'm not supposed to see.
<v Speaker 2>So Jesus, this is this is how it works. High chat.
<v Speaker 2>There you are. Uh, So it's a camera in here.
<v Speaker 2>Let me fix this.
<v Speaker 1>There's a camera in the gun.
<v Speaker 2>There's a camera in there.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, let me mean, I know it very obvious. It's
<v Speaker 1>very obvious.
<v Speaker 2>So there's a camera in here. And then what it
<v Speaker 2>does is, uh, the guy that made this has a
<v Speaker 2>little software, uh that he's built that basically inside the
<v Speaker 2>gun that if it sees a white outline like a
<v Speaker 2>white border, it knows where the camera should be, like
<v Speaker 2>making it telling an emulator or mister or a number
<v Speaker 2>of other things like where the pointer should be. And
<v Speaker 2>so you basically start up a game and you start
<v Speaker 2>the software for this, and then you hit all to
<v Speaker 2>b to bring up a border and then hit it again.
<v Speaker 2>If you're playing a four x three game, and it
<v Speaker 2>puts that white border around the game, and then you
<v Speaker 2>just point this at the screen and the camera just
<v Speaker 2>calculates where it should be. Now you're gonna have you
<v Speaker 2>might have dialed in, depending on what you're doing. I
<v Speaker 2>was playing on Duckstation. I was playing some games on there,
<v Speaker 2>and it was it did require me to sort of
<v Speaker 2>to sort of like dial between the emulator settings and
<v Speaker 2>the sind in settings, so that like when I'm pointing
<v Speaker 2>at the screen in the middle, okay, that's fine. If
<v Speaker 2>I point off to the side, it sort of gets
<v Speaker 2>a little bit misaligned. So it's like it the x
<v Speaker 2>axis goes a little bit further out than where I'm
<v Speaker 2>actually pointing. So I've been kind of dialing that stuff in.
<v Speaker 2>But I got it to feel pretty good, and the
<v Speaker 2>guys he's helpful. I've kind of reached out a little
<v Speaker 2>bit and there's a pretty good community and I've been
<v Speaker 2>in join it so far. But it's like getting it
<v Speaker 2>set up is going to require a little bit of
<v Speaker 2>effort for at least the way I want to use it.
<v Speaker 2>That said, it's got got everything you want. It's got
<v Speaker 2>a forced feedback, so when you fire the gun, it
<v Speaker 2>can kind of like.
<v Speaker 4>It's got to do the time crisis thing for sure.
<v Speaker 2>The time crisis is this whole thing right here is
<v Speaker 2>you just cock it and stuff and there's some buttons
<v Speaker 2>on the side here dpad, and it's very easy to
<v Speaker 2>just set all that stuff up and then get going.
<v Speaker 2>Once once I was actually playing and it was all
<v Speaker 2>lined up, it's like, oh yeah, I'm not even think
<v Speaker 2>about it. I am just planning and shooting and it's
<v Speaker 2>working exactly like I would want it to without me
<v Speaker 2>having to like fret about any of the settings at
<v Speaker 2>that point. So it's like it is possible to get
<v Speaker 2>this fully working and dialed in.
<v Speaker 1>Oh man, I just want to play. I just want
<v Speaker 1>to get one of those and play some time crisis.
<v Speaker 1>Is that how light gun tech works? Is there like a.
<v Speaker 2>Light gun kind of works. There's a sensor in here,
<v Speaker 2>and then there is on CRTs there would be a
<v Speaker 2>flash like across the whole screen, but there's a special
<v Speaker 2>flash in a box around the thing you're you're supposed
<v Speaker 2>to be heading, and if this thing detects that flash
<v Speaker 2>and its censor, it knows that you got the hit
<v Speaker 2>and it kind of sends that into the game and
<v Speaker 2>stuff like that. That's my basic, very basic understanding.
<v Speaker 4>Play some point break, yeah, yes, point blank?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah?
<v Speaker 4>Oh what a point breaks? Some that movie my bag.
<v Speaker 2>Listen, we can watch that too.
<v Speaker 4>You saved me.
<v Speaker 1>Fantastic the send in light gun God, that looks so cool.
<v Speaker 1>Just pair that with like the Elgado foot pedal thingies,
<v Speaker 1>and then you can get Time Crisis going right.
<v Speaker 2>And like the software like is ready for pedals, so
<v Speaker 2>I can do that full thing. I can have them
<v Speaker 2>all set up, and I also have it set up
<v Speaker 2>so it's like I can set the reload to planting
<v Speaker 2>off screen or to this button kind of depending on
<v Speaker 2>what I'm in the mood for. So yeah, it's it's
<v Speaker 2>really adaptable and works better than I thought it would.
<v Speaker 1>Oh man, cool. I can practice and like time out
<v Speaker 1>and memorize the waves and Time Crisis and then hit
<v Speaker 1>up my local arcade to impress all the ladies, folks.
<v Speaker 1>Any other video games. We gotta to talk about thing
<v Speaker 1>else before we had to break.
<v Speaker 4>Not that we could talk about I started me. I'm
<v Speaker 4>gonna wait till I play some more of that. I've
<v Speaker 4>beat bass lines of p When I've started a DLC,
<v Speaker 4>I'm gonna wait till I beat the DLC before I
<v Speaker 4>talk about that.
<v Speaker 1>Oh I might want to. I might pick up the
<v Speaker 1>DLC and play that in tandem.
<v Speaker 4>With It's really good. It's setting like a zoo, which
<v Speaker 4>is fun.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>I got attacked by an elf, a half elf and
<v Speaker 4>half giraffe monster and it was very scary, very scary.
<v Speaker 1>Giraffe is very very scary. So you like Satan, what
<v Speaker 1>do you mean?
<v Speaker 2>No, I killed this thing, folks.
<v Speaker 1>We're gonna go take a quick bricky break and worship
<v Speaker 1>the dark Lord and then be back with the news
<v Speaker 1>right after the is.
<v Speaker 2>This is with AW. It's it's fun because it's you know,
<v Speaker 2>it's just kind of being inputed as a mouse, so
<v Speaker 2>I can point this at the screen and like click
<v Speaker 2>around my desktop with my gun. Now that's that's just fun.
<v Speaker 4>What I love is that there are some bad liking games,
<v Speaker 4>so we have new possibilities for you.
<v Speaker 2>Now, I yes, I did consider that, but it's like
<v Speaker 2>there's always the possibility to bring out for Connect connects
<v Speaker 2>for you guys. So Don't Connect is for Dan.
<v Speaker 4>If I I got Connect game before Dan, I'm gonna
<v Speaker 4>be pissed.
<v Speaker 2>I don't have a connect here.
<v Speaker 4>Okay, I don't want to connect here. That's why I'll
<v Speaker 4>be the like.
<v Speaker 2>Good guy, could be the connect guy. You could keep
<v Speaker 2>being the we guys. Right, that's great, that's perfect. It is.
<v Speaker 3>It is cool all the weird places you like see
<v Speaker 3>connects in the wild. Yeah, you guys start to notice,
<v Speaker 3>You're like a little bit like, why is this one
<v Speaker 3>on top of a vending machine?
<v Speaker 1>What's it new?
<v Speaker 3>You know, like you just see them in weird spots
<v Speaker 3>like huh on the ski lift.
<v Speaker 2>Huh.
<v Speaker 4>Like a surprising amount of theme park stuff that still
<v Speaker 4>basically just runs on connects.
<v Speaker 1>Actually, yeah, some ghost hunters employ the connect as well.
<v Speaker 2>Well, that's the main purpose, that's what it actually does.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, rat it.
<v Speaker 2>We got some headlines here Wolverine that popped off right
<v Speaker 2>as we were getting ready to go live. They posted
<v Speaker 2>on Blue Sky. I hope they only posted on Blue Sky.
<v Speaker 2>That'd be a fun place to just announce this, And
<v Speaker 2>so other platforms are like, wait, is this real? Anyway,
<v Speaker 2>Let's cut to the chase. They say Marvel's Wolverine launches
<v Speaker 2>September fifteenth, twenty twenty six, and then they ask you
<v Speaker 2>to go wish list the game. That's okay, yeah, all right.
<v Speaker 2>The cool that we got a date. They did say
<v Speaker 2>they were going to talk about it at some point
<v Speaker 2>this spring. I guess they're probably still going to do that,
<v Speaker 2>but they've also just kind of put the date out there.
<v Speaker 2>How are you guys feeling about that?
<v Speaker 1>I don't want to spoil the next news story, but
<v Speaker 1>do you think them dropping the release date to this
<v Speaker 1>or announcing it is to kind of like try and
<v Speaker 1>fix the vibes going on because of closing Blue Point?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, the first the first replies to this where all
<v Speaker 2>people being like, well, yeah, we don't care. Also like
<v Speaker 2>what's going on with Blue Point? Bring back Blue Points?
<v Speaker 2>So that's still a thing for them for sure, or
<v Speaker 2>I don't know, maybe there was always the probably the
<v Speaker 2>plan to talk about this game soon. It just does
<v Speaker 2>feel weird to announce the date, but it is also
<v Speaker 2>only a date, so who cares if they just announced
<v Speaker 2>that on social media? Right? You know?
<v Speaker 4>The these Q four dates or these late year dates,
<v Speaker 4>they can always so easily be delayed. You know, you know,
<v Speaker 4>something be the most shocking thing in this world. This
<v Speaker 4>gets delayed till even later in the year, even the
<v Speaker 4>next year, it'll probably hit that they definitely want this
<v Speaker 4>game in that September slot, so it's good to go
<v Speaker 4>for the holidays.
<v Speaker 2>Yep, we'll see. I'm sure they'll talk about it more
<v Speaker 2>here pretty soon. Yes, As as Jan said, PlayStation closed
<v Speaker 2>down Blue Point Games, or is planning to do so,
<v Speaker 2>but they've already laid off a lot of the people.
<v Speaker 2>Soon he's officially shutting down Blue Point, the acclaimed studio
<v Speaker 2>behind Demon Souls and Shadow of the Closest remakes. They're
<v Speaker 2>doing that final closure in March. Approximately seventy people will
<v Speaker 2>lose their jobs or in the or in the process
<v Speaker 2>right now losing their jobs. Herman holds throat an internal
<v Speaker 2>memo that basically said increasingly challenging in industry environments, including
<v Speaker 2>rising development costs and slowed growth, were responsible for this.
<v Speaker 2>He also just said changing gaming patterns, so it's your
<v Speaker 2>fault as well, gamers. Of course. Reports also pointed to
<v Speaker 2>a failed pivot where Sony task three Mike masters with
<v Speaker 2>developing a live service God of War game, which was
<v Speaker 2>ultimately canceled. We did.
<v Speaker 4>We already heard about that, and they're going to close
<v Speaker 4>down Naughty Dog right because they were making that live
<v Speaker 4>service game. Nothing came of that. What a big waste
<v Speaker 4>of resources. That's the challenging gaming money times.
<v Speaker 1>Jeff, Yeah, Greb, can you explain to me, all right,
<v Speaker 1>what if it was the gamer's fault, right, if it
<v Speaker 1>was our fault, the audience's fault, what could they have
<v Speaker 1>us as gamers done to actually save Blue Point?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah?
<v Speaker 4>Nothing, And because like the people bought the Demon Soul's remake,
<v Speaker 4>which was their last released games, I don't know what
<v Speaker 4>the hell he's talking about.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, they never released any games. Well, under the ownership
<v Speaker 2>of PlayStation they helped ship Ragnaro, but yeah, they were
<v Speaker 2>not releasing any of their own games. So it's yeah,
<v Speaker 2>it's a very baffling thing. But I think what Sony
<v Speaker 2>is saying and what it seems the reality is is
<v Speaker 2>that this is a studio that is best suited for
<v Speaker 2>remakes for the most part, or to be a support
<v Speaker 2>studio on bigger games. And they're based in Austin, Texas,
<v Speaker 2>and that's too expensive for that kind of work. You
<v Speaker 2>can get people to do that kind of work in
<v Speaker 2>other countries that is much much more affordable to corporations.
<v Speaker 2>And so after a business review, which is what they said,
<v Speaker 2>they decided this is not a studio they want to
<v Speaker 2>keep it open anymore. It is unsustainable to run a
<v Speaker 2>business like this one in the United States.
<v Speaker 4>Anybody can make these remakes. It's really easy. That's why
<v Speaker 4>Ubisoft had two failed attempts at remaking Prince of Person
<v Speaker 4>The Stands of Time.
<v Speaker 2>Yep, they are going to find out right that they're
<v Speaker 2>going to like first of all, everyone's having the same
<v Speaker 2>thought at the same time. So all those companies you
<v Speaker 2>want to work with that are you know, like Virtuos
<v Speaker 2>or whatever, They're going to be busy and you're gonna
<v Speaker 2>out of real estate real fast in terms of being
<v Speaker 2>able to claim claim some land in the name of
<v Speaker 2>Sony and say, oh, Virtuous also remake this for us.
<v Speaker 2>It's like, yeah, would have been nice to have another
<v Speaker 2>one of those, especially one that you can rely on
<v Speaker 2>to do a very very good job, uh and get
<v Speaker 2>these games up to a quality level where you can
<v Speaker 2>justify the prices that you want to sell them for
<v Speaker 2>and selling in the numbers you wanted to want to
<v Speaker 2>want them to sell, which is, you know, five to
<v Speaker 2>ten million, which is what these games can do.
<v Speaker 4>So stupid idiot you ask forgot that AI is going
<v Speaker 4>to make these Smith eats spaghetti now, you stupid idiot,
<v Speaker 4>And that's I forgot about those Smith spaghetti tech. That's
<v Speaker 4>where that's at these days.
<v Speaker 2>It's yeah, it's dumb.
<v Speaker 4>Uh.
<v Speaker 2>Blue Point is one that people really were feeling pretty
<v Speaker 2>good about them coming back with something, you know, any
<v Speaker 2>sort of remake. There's been rumors, Oh, they were gonna
<v Speaker 2>do the middle Gear thing. Maybe maybe they're doing this
<v Speaker 2>God of one two three remake. And then for them
<v Speaker 2>to close close the stud down and everyone's kind of
<v Speaker 2>looking around going like, what are you doing? We really
<v Speaker 2>like that team. Why can't you figure this out? And
<v Speaker 2>the answer is just they don't want to.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah. God, remember like the freaking Spiro Crash Bandicoot remakes
<v Speaker 4>compilations selling like over ten million, even even closer twenty million,
<v Speaker 4>like you got Chucking Dexter and Sly like you got
<v Speaker 4>so many things right.
<v Speaker 1>Those older Ratchet games too.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I mean, I mean, you know, maybe Aby skip
<v Speaker 4>us to do those numbers, but it could. There's plenty
<v Speaker 4>of other games that you can remake and sell a
<v Speaker 4>few million copies of it, which you think would be something.
<v Speaker 4>You know, this we'd office politics. Why can't just be Bloodborn,
<v Speaker 4>even though it's insane that we can't remaster blood Borne
<v Speaker 4>with this team, at least because you know, even before
<v Speaker 4>they're doing remakes, Blueprint did a lot of Bluepoint did
<v Speaker 4>a lot of remasters, and they were very good at
<v Speaker 4>that as well.
<v Speaker 2>Used to be really good at porting.
<v Speaker 4>They were the ones who did the kind of miracle
<v Speaker 4>titan Fall Xbox three sixty port. Right, Like if only,
<v Speaker 4>if only Sony was actively trying to put games from
<v Speaker 4>one console to a different platform like PC, or maybe
<v Speaker 4>even more games on switch to, which would be nice,
<v Speaker 4>But I don't think they're going too far in that.
<v Speaker 4>We got Lego Horizon, which I bet. I'm sure that's
<v Speaker 4>at the World and Fire, but you're still gonna get
<v Speaker 4>twenty more Horizon games anyways, play.
<v Speaker 2>Testing this weekend, baby, it's uh yeah, it's it's frustrating.
<v Speaker 2>I think that this is a company that that despite themselves,
<v Speaker 2>is succeeding. They're making more money than ever. Their their
<v Speaker 2>profits were up something like fifteen percent last quarter, and
<v Speaker 2>so they have plenty of money to go around. So
<v Speaker 2>it's kind of like, why are you still being so
<v Speaker 2>stingy with this stuff? And I don't know, they pitched
<v Speaker 2>two remakes and two other games in the intervening times
<v Speaker 2>since the God Who Live service game was canceled. None
<v Speaker 2>of those got green lighted. So yeah, yeah, he's.
<v Speaker 4>Gonna be I mean, go ahead back.
<v Speaker 3>So I want you know, obviously that all that bullshit.
<v Speaker 3>Oh it's a business read or whatever. Right, it's just
<v Speaker 3>an incredible cost cutting measure, what you know. But at
<v Speaker 3>the same time you're telling me this this this company
<v Speaker 3>is making more money than it has right yeah, yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>so is the CA I mean part of the exercise
<v Speaker 3>of trying to understand this stuff, which is hard to do,
<v Speaker 3>you almost have to like think like a scumbag, right,
<v Speaker 3>And I think, you know, is it like, oh, I'm
<v Speaker 3>I'm a jug. I'm doing this sort of like accounting
<v Speaker 3>for some of the bad bets that maybe we made
<v Speaker 3>elsewhere and using it as a means to kind of
<v Speaker 3>like mitigate that that overall loss. Like I don't know,
<v Speaker 3>I I think the most frustrating part of this story
<v Speaker 3>is the fact that like you guys are right, like,
<v Speaker 3>oh my god, there are so many games that could
<v Speaker 3>use this treatment that would almost guaranteed to to to
<v Speaker 3>sell in a very profitable way. Like it's kind of
<v Speaker 3>like where I just can't, uh, you know, close the
<v Speaker 3>gap on this.
<v Speaker 4>It's not like PlayStations releasing a ton of games anymore
<v Speaker 4>these days. I don't think a four to like there
<v Speaker 4>was like a game a quarter these days, how can
<v Speaker 4>you just get rid of one of the studios?
<v Speaker 1>And nostalgia is a hell of a drug that you
<v Speaker 1>could just like continue to try to get a tap
<v Speaker 1>like Infamous. We didn't talk about Infamous at all when
<v Speaker 1>we're rattling.
<v Speaker 4>Different existence games, right, I mean, especially you know, like
<v Speaker 4>nostalgia for that era is popping off. People are so
<v Speaker 4>excited for melgarsto at four in that game's.
<v Speaker 2>Mid Yeah, it's it's uh kind of like an like
<v Speaker 2>the games four pitches, none of them got green light,
<v Speaker 2>and then the reason the studio gets closed is because
<v Speaker 2>it didn't have any project it was working on. It's like, Sony,
<v Speaker 2>what what were you looking for? Like what would you
<v Speaker 2>have approved? And that's that's just a question that scares me.
<v Speaker 2>I'm like, I don't know what this company wants from
<v Speaker 2>these companies.
<v Speaker 3>Well that's why I feel like there was it was
<v Speaker 3>always going to happen, yeah right, yeah, I mean this
<v Speaker 3>is not surprising to the people who are at the studio.
<v Speaker 2>According to people.
<v Speaker 1>Are at that it just sucks because that's not that's mismanagement,
<v Speaker 1>not at like the blue Point level, but at the
<v Speaker 1>greater PlayStation level of like, if you don't know what
<v Speaker 1>to do with them, what the hell? God kill Zone,
<v Speaker 1>Herman Holst, you like kill zone there? Make them make
<v Speaker 1>a kill zone.
<v Speaker 4>If when we see this God of War remake or
<v Speaker 4>are these any other remakes, and if they don't look good,
<v Speaker 4>they're gonna i mean, it's not going to ultimately impact
<v Speaker 4>on it. They're gonna hear it, right, and I'm gonna
<v Speaker 4>be happy to have them hear it, like, Wow, this
<v Speaker 4>remake ser looks bad?
<v Speaker 2>Too bad?
<v Speaker 4>You destroyed your good remix studio for no reason.
<v Speaker 2>H Meanwhile, over at Microsoft, there's been a big shake up.
<v Speaker 2>Phil Spencer is out after thirty eight years at Microsoft.
<v Speaker 2>He spent in the last twelve as CEO of Microsoft Gaming. Effectively,
<v Speaker 2>he's retired from the company. Less surprising is that versus
<v Speaker 2>Sarah Bond is also leaving the company. President in COO
<v Speaker 2>of Xbox, she was widely expected outside of the company
<v Speaker 2>to be the successor. She's resigned from Microsoft instead of
<v Speaker 2>taking on some other role. She said it was the
<v Speaker 2>right time to leave. In their place. Asha Sharma steps in.
<v Speaker 2>She is a senior Microsoft executive from the Core AI team.
<v Speaker 2>She's been on stage talking about AI products from Microsoft before.
<v Speaker 2>She's also worked at Meta and Instacart. She is now
<v Speaker 2>the CEO of Xbox, where she will be working with
<v Speaker 2>Matt Boody, who is also moving up to be Chief
<v Speaker 2>Content Officer. Sharma's said early on that despite her place
<v Speaker 2>of origin, she's not gonna just make AI slop hooray,
<v Speaker 2>I guess And then here everyone yeah, everyone's yes. And
<v Speaker 2>then she says, I hear you to people saying we
<v Speaker 2>want exclusives back. And then there is this question of oh,
<v Speaker 2>she comes from a place of not being someone who
<v Speaker 2>plays games or has made games. What does that mean. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>there's a lot of stuff happening here. Mostly it sounds
<v Speaker 2>like what happened is Microsoft was not happy with the
<v Speaker 2>state of Xbox and gave them as much of a
<v Speaker 2>leash as possible to fix things, especially in the wake
<v Speaker 2>of a very frustrating acquisition of Activision, which took longer
<v Speaker 2>and got them a lot more eyes on them from
<v Speaker 2>governments than they were expecting, and so they kind of
<v Speaker 2>used up a lot of that slack in that moment.
<v Speaker 2>And then since then it has not been one hit
<v Speaker 2>after another. It's been sort of a couple a few
<v Speaker 2>more blemishes here and there. Star what's the protesta game? Star?
<v Speaker 2>I want to start StarCraft Field, Starfield, thank you, Starfield
<v Speaker 2>not taking off the way that they were expecting it to,
<v Speaker 2>and no other games sort of stepping up. And then
<v Speaker 2>this is an Xbox strategy which has only maybe accomplished
<v Speaker 2>becoming a meme and nothing else. So yeah, they're looking
<v Speaker 2>for a change, But what do you think the appetite
<v Speaker 2>is at Microsoft for real change as opposed to just
<v Speaker 2>like slowly letting Microsoft fade away or Xbox fade away
<v Speaker 2>and keeping the game studios around. Yeah, that's what I
<v Speaker 2>think this is.
<v Speaker 3>I think you bring in someone with zero gaming experience too,
<v Speaker 3>and and what a lot of these like tech people,
<v Speaker 3>they're just like great managers, right or whatever it is.
<v Speaker 3>And there it's just like, all right, you are now
<v Speaker 3>going to be in charge of like the transition of
<v Speaker 3>console deletion, and the the sort of transformation into what
<v Speaker 3>I would imagine is just sort of like this, like
<v Speaker 3>developer conglomerate right where you're like this publishing developer thing
<v Speaker 3>that is not an Xbox. Nothing is an Xbox. Nothing
<v Speaker 3>is an Xbox anymore. And that's what I that's what
<v Speaker 3>my sort of knee jerk reaction is Like this, you know,
<v Speaker 3>because you're not going to feel do that, You're gonna
<v Speaker 3>Phil take his baby out back and you know, cut
<v Speaker 3>its head off, right, So like that to me is
<v Speaker 3>what this feels like. You bring in someone who can
<v Speaker 3>like end this thing and transfer it into its next evolution,
<v Speaker 3>which is like what I said, this sort of like
<v Speaker 3>you know, hybrid developer publisher apparatus that is not a
<v Speaker 3>hardware company anymore.
<v Speaker 2>Yep.
<v Speaker 4>I mean for thus, important things that Microsoft owns in
<v Speaker 4>the gaming landscape right now are things like Call of
<v Speaker 4>Duty and Minecraft and King and Blizzard, and none of
<v Speaker 4>these really have strong associations with Xbox or that Xbox
<v Speaker 4>brand even after the acquisitions. Like yeah, like this news,
<v Speaker 4>I don't feel great about Xbox's future. I didn't feel
<v Speaker 4>great about Xbox's future last week either, Like maybe we
<v Speaker 4>skeep a step here, Like maybe that console that was
<v Speaker 4>probably going to come out and not do really well
<v Speaker 4>just doesn't come out now, right, Like maybe we're fast
<v Speaker 4>forwarding a bit and maybe like the the AI shitification
<v Speaker 4>happens even sooner than we're expcting. Yeah, she doesn't want
<v Speaker 4>AI slop. What does she consider slop? Right, because that's
<v Speaker 4>applying that there is AI not slop and that that's
<v Speaker 4>still fair game.
<v Speaker 3>Well that's my point, right, Like, you know, this person
<v Speaker 3>doesn't sound like there's a lot of like gaming pedigree
<v Speaker 3>right there, So I don't think this person will have
<v Speaker 3>like insightful uh additive sort of like gaming.
<v Speaker 2>Directive, right.
<v Speaker 3>I think this is like a more of a business strategy,
<v Speaker 3>a strategic business move to exit the uh exit that market,
<v Speaker 3>right and like and transfer it into just the in
<v Speaker 3>the business of publishing developing games in the best way
<v Speaker 3>that because don't forget, like how many years have we
<v Speaker 3>always been Like man, it's crazy that like Windows and
<v Speaker 3>Xbox can never marry, right, Like you know they also
<v Speaker 3>have a microsofteys like figure out how to like have
<v Speaker 3>people even though you know, Windows is still a huge
<v Speaker 3>enterprise market. It's it's I don't think I don't think
<v Speaker 3>any of that is materially going away anytime soon, but
<v Speaker 3>like certainly certainly dense in that armor, right, Like this
<v Speaker 3>was the last couple of years, Like people are like
<v Speaker 3>super sour on windows the goddamn shit show with the
<v Speaker 3>AI inclusion and just making it like increasingly unusable, right,
<v Speaker 3>and that needs to be corrected. And I guess you know,
<v Speaker 3>also the amount of like you know, the cost of
<v Speaker 3>litigation with with the with the with the deals that
<v Speaker 3>we're that have been trying to get across the finish line, Like,
<v Speaker 3>there's just a lot and I think at some point
<v Speaker 3>you have to like, you know, pull the plug on stuff, right,
<v Speaker 3>I mean it's I'm just trying to like understand a
<v Speaker 3>lot of these bigger picture machinations.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean a big part of it's just got
<v Speaker 2>to be Yaes Satinadella has got a lot of things
<v Speaker 2>that he's concerned with, and uh, this is a small
<v Speaker 2>piece of the pie and it's a bigger headache than
<v Speaker 2>it justifies itself to be Like, uh yeah, getting all
<v Speaker 2>that attention for the Activision deal though you're right, the
<v Speaker 2>lawyer cost the legal fees were probably astronomical, and and
<v Speaker 2>then to get on the other side of that and
<v Speaker 2>being like Okay, now we also need to kind of
<v Speaker 2>keep figuring things out and it's gonna be a long
<v Speaker 2>road to hoe and we're going to try this whole
<v Speaker 2>new strategy and we're gonna shift Xbox. And it's like, okay,
<v Speaker 2>and to what end? Why don't we just cut to
<v Speaker 2>the point where we start saving money where we can
<v Speaker 2>and doubling down on the stuff that does make money.
<v Speaker 2>And we don't need any of you to do that,
<v Speaker 2>Like we can bring in someone who's very good at
<v Speaker 2>that sort of decision making and she doesn't need to
<v Speaker 2>know a thing about games to do it. And so yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I think it's maybe they're not explicitly saying sunsetting, but
<v Speaker 2>I think the result of all the decisions she will
<v Speaker 2>be making will effectively be that.
<v Speaker 3>Right, Like, like I could so easily see within the
<v Speaker 3>next six to ten months this sort of like you know,
<v Speaker 3>all hands thing goes out. This is like here's what
<v Speaker 3>the future of Xbox is going to be, like that
<v Speaker 3>kind of manifesto, Like, I feel like that's the next
<v Speaker 3>thing we're.
<v Speaker 2>Going to see.
<v Speaker 4>Jeff, when do you what do you think is the
<v Speaker 4>future of game pass?
<v Speaker 2>Right?
<v Speaker 4>Because that was kind of one of the I seem
<v Speaker 4>like maybe that was maybe their road at one point,
<v Speaker 4>Like this is how we establish Xbox. Then that didn't happen.
<v Speaker 4>You think it just kind of keeps limping along because
<v Speaker 4>it does bring in revenue, or do you think they'd
<v Speaker 4>scrap that at some point soon?
<v Speaker 2>I don't know. I mean, I think it does bring
<v Speaker 2>in revenue, and that they probably just try to find
<v Speaker 2>ways to reduce its costs well increasing its price until
<v Speaker 2>it probably slowly fades over away over a long period
<v Speaker 2>of time. If it does still have like it had
<v Speaker 2>like what Edit's peak thirty three thirty two million subscribers
<v Speaker 2>or something like that, that's a lot of money per
<v Speaker 2>month when you add it all up. If it still
<v Speaker 2>has fifteen million, that's still quite a large amount of
<v Speaker 2>money that they could keep going with. I just don't
<v Speaker 2>They probably continue to make it more difficult to like
<v Speaker 2>just get what you want out of it, which is
<v Speaker 2>the day one games something they've already done unless you
<v Speaker 2>have ultimate It probably continue to limit that going forward.
<v Speaker 1>Is it something if they're deprioritizing being a console manufacturer
<v Speaker 1>and a console holder. I guess do you think grub
<v Speaker 1>there's a possibility of trying to move game Pass to
<v Speaker 1>like another console of like, hey, yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I think they definitely had those conversations, but it's I
<v Speaker 2>think the the other platform holders are like, well, like,
<v Speaker 2>we need to get a lot more out of this
<v Speaker 2>than you're getting out of this. What can you offer?
<v Speaker 2>And I bet they're you know, the two could not
<v Speaker 2>meet in the middle there.
<v Speaker 3>That's kind of where my knee jerk reaction to the
<v Speaker 3>game pass question is that I don't necessarily think it
<v Speaker 3>will go anywhere just because of the fact that it
<v Speaker 3>is a software thing.
<v Speaker 2>It's a platform, and that's what you do. Yeah, right,
<v Speaker 2>so I don't service platform.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, and then and they've baked it into Windows now,
<v Speaker 3>and I just don't. I don't know, Like my gut
<v Speaker 3>doesn't tell me like that somehow goes at least in
<v Speaker 3>a front loaded capacity. But you know, look, I don't know.
<v Speaker 3>I can't see the entire Xbox brand disappearing either, So
<v Speaker 3>if it exists, it will I think it would probably exist, uh,
<v Speaker 3>going down that road as and seeing that show up
<v Speaker 3>in other places, as opposed to the whole thing just
<v Speaker 3>sort of evaporated.
<v Speaker 4>It'll be like when you're playing PS two games and
<v Speaker 4>the Atari logos showed up, You're like, what, what what
<v Speaker 4>do you mean?
<v Speaker 2>Atari?
<v Speaker 3>Now?
<v Speaker 2>What the hell?
<v Speaker 4>Whoa, whoa, yeah, we'll see the Xbox logo and playing
<v Speaker 4>your PS six games or PS seven games, like.
<v Speaker 3>Oh yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Meanwhile, the Supreme Court struck down Trump tariffs that hiked
<v Speaker 2>prices on Switch, Xbox and PS five. The Court ruled
<v Speaker 2>six to three against the majority of President Trump's twenty
<v Speaker 2>twenty five tariffs, saying that they are illegal, specifically those
<v Speaker 2>enacted using the nineteen seventy seven AIPA or International Emergency
<v Speaker 2>Economic Powers Act, which the Court determined does not authorize
<v Speaker 2>the president to impose tariffs. Chief Justice John Roberts wrote
<v Speaker 2>the majority opinion basically just laying that all out. So
<v Speaker 2>does this mean console prices are going to go down? Now?
<v Speaker 2>Does this mean that you're gonna get all the money
<v Speaker 2>back that you spent extra on stuff from the last year.
<v Speaker 2>Absolutely not. The corporations might be able to get it back,
<v Speaker 2>but we're not. I believe FedEx has already sued government
<v Speaker 2>to get their fees back. I bet what they did
<v Speaker 2>is they separated that stuff out, is serve charges and
<v Speaker 2>stuff like that and fees, and they have it all documented,
<v Speaker 2>and their lawyers have been waiting for this moment, and
<v Speaker 2>they were ready to go and then yeah, going back
<v Speaker 2>to that price or the question of will the price
<v Speaker 2>go down now, prices usually don't go down.
<v Speaker 4>Well. But since the highest court of the country confirmed
<v Speaker 4>that the president committed a crime where with billions and
<v Speaker 4>billions of dollars, I say, surely he will be punished.
<v Speaker 1>Right.
<v Speaker 2>He came back immediately that day and said that he's
<v Speaker 2>just going to put a different form of tariff on everybody,
<v Speaker 2>a ten percent tariff. Then the next day he got
<v Speaker 2>bored and said, never mind, I meant fifteen percent. Cool,
<v Speaker 2>So it's just gonna keep.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, you know those like stare cars they wheel out
<v Speaker 1>to jets. Yeah, yeah, I you know, I hope that
<v Speaker 1>they don't do maintenance on all of them. Yeah, it's
<v Speaker 1>so specific. That's unrelated. Sorry, a bit of an accident,
<v Speaker 1>you know, Sorry that that's unrelated.
<v Speaker 2>I was just thinking, you know, it's a little shame. Uh. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>this is I think maybe we might get on the
<v Speaker 2>other side of this, there will be a little bit
<v Speaker 2>more certainty.
<v Speaker 1>Not yet.
<v Speaker 2>This is still just a huge mess because the federal
<v Speaker 2>government is not saying to anyone whether or not you're
<v Speaker 2>gonna get a refund if you do get one, Like, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>what you Yeah, what does that process even look like?
<v Speaker 2>Now there are built in processes for getting refunds for
<v Speaker 2>like if you overpay, and people are gonna try to
<v Speaker 2>go through go through there and say, hey, it looks
<v Speaker 2>looks like it looks like I might overpay because it's illegal, right,
<v Speaker 2>and they're gonna see what happens. And then meanwhile, the
<v Speaker 2>big corporations will sue. Yeah, if you were, if you're
<v Speaker 2>if you're a Nintendo or whatever, you know, you don't
<v Speaker 2>bring the price back down anytime soon until you know,
<v Speaker 2>you know for sure that you're safe. Uh. The the
<v Speaker 2>new ten fifteen percent tariffs, they might have like a
<v Speaker 2>one hundred and fifty day time limit and then Congress
<v Speaker 2>would have to approve them, so even those might not
<v Speaker 2>be around for long. We'll see.
<v Speaker 1>I'm curious how this like affects other industries outside of gaming, like,
<v Speaker 1>for instance, like Dji was completely boned because of these tariffs. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>and had to come with Yeah, yeah, I had to
<v Speaker 1>come up with like a shell company to make the
<v Speaker 1>same camera and just put them out under a different label.
<v Speaker 1>Does grub to your knowledge, does that help them at
<v Speaker 1>all with these terrafts being struck down or same situation.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean it should. It should. Yes, I think
<v Speaker 2>that any company sort of that has been biding their
<v Speaker 2>time waiting for this moment should now be able to
<v Speaker 2>Like mo, I mean, you might st have to pay
<v Speaker 2>this weird ten percent tariff, but it'll be better than
<v Speaker 2>a lot of countries like China that might have had
<v Speaker 2>thirty forty eighty percent at times, one hundred and ninety
<v Speaker 2>percent at times depending on how Trump was feeling that day.
<v Speaker 3>I have so I'm not an accountant, So don't take
<v Speaker 3>this advice for me personally. In fact, let me be
<v Speaker 3>as crystal clear as I can be. Do not do
<v Speaker 3>what I'm about to say. But nobody should pay taxes
<v Speaker 3>this year. Yeah, tax don't. I'm not going to pay
<v Speaker 3>your taxes.
<v Speaker 1>Think about not doing it.
<v Speaker 3>Honestly, apparently everyone's, every system of every functioning system of
<v Speaker 3>government has been gutted. Don't pay your fucking taxes. Again,
<v Speaker 3>don't do what I just said, but don't pay your
<v Speaker 3>fucking taxes.
<v Speaker 1>How about that?
<v Speaker 4>Hell yeah?
<v Speaker 2>But hell now open but hell yeah?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah you get me?
<v Speaker 2>Maybe all right, let's see here.
<v Speaker 1>You know, I don't like gabbing that much either. Maybe
<v Speaker 1>I won't be once ship.
<v Speaker 2>Man, what a herd bread saying he's greasy. Heard, Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I just don't like looking at dealing with him for years.
<v Speaker 2>They're going to keep making Assassin's Creed games and the
<v Speaker 2>people who made the Black Flag games are going to
<v Speaker 2>be in charge of Assassin's Creed now, Uh okay, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>that I guess that makes some sense. But also, Black
<v Speaker 2>Flag was a long time.
<v Speaker 4>Ago, thirteen years ago, dude, you know, yeah, ago, long
<v Speaker 4>time ago.
<v Speaker 2>And I don't think that like the return I mean
<v Speaker 2>not that they're saying that all we're returning to the
<v Speaker 2>glory days of Black Flag, but they're not backing down
<v Speaker 2>from that either. It's not I don't the Assassin's Creeds
<v Speaker 2>problems or Ubie Soft's problems have come because they didn't
<v Speaker 2>have the people from Black Flag working on Assassin's Creed games.
<v Speaker 2>So yeah, we'll see. I don't know. Ubi Soft overall
<v Speaker 2>continues to be the mess. It's like they're the quiet
<v Speaker 2>mess now where it's like we know that happened, we
<v Speaker 2>got all these other messes in this last week. But yeah,
<v Speaker 2>they have not like cleaned things up over there or
<v Speaker 2>figured it out. And every week it's some other headline
<v Speaker 2>like this where it's like, oh, is that going to
<v Speaker 2>change your fortunes?
<v Speaker 1>Probably not what is supposed to be coming out of
<v Speaker 1>UBI Soft this year.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, they delayed everything except for maybe this Black Flag
<v Speaker 2>remake remaster thing that might still be coming.
<v Speaker 4>That's it almost has to happen because they've been having
<v Speaker 4>a called or called has cre gaming year, and like
<v Speaker 4>the new new one is not going to be ready
<v Speaker 4>this year, right, the one that's going to be in
<v Speaker 4>the Holy Room and Empire or whatever. So yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 4>you would expect we're getting that. But otherwise, yeah, I
<v Speaker 4>don't know what. We don't have a far Cry, we
<v Speaker 4>don't have a Prince of Persia, so anything Tom Clancy,
<v Speaker 4>I think so yeah, I don't know. Uh.
<v Speaker 2>King of Me is shutting down? No, no, no, yes, okay,
<v Speaker 2>uh yeah. That's that's when we're We played that one,
<v Speaker 2>didn't even get paid, but we got We played it,
<v Speaker 2>and we're fools said yeah we should we should have.
<v Speaker 2>I mean they weren't using the money. It's that game.
<v Speaker 2>You could just tell right away was it had nothing
<v Speaker 2>going on. I think we all played it and we're
<v Speaker 2>like and then we had it was time to talk
<v Speaker 2>about it. It's like, what do what were we even doing?
<v Speaker 4>What was that game?
<v Speaker 3>Like?
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I was promised it was gonna be like uh
<v Speaker 4>Ball Guys, and it in only the most base sense.
<v Speaker 4>It was none of the fun of Fall Guys. And
<v Speaker 4>there was a lot of things. There's a lot of
<v Speaker 4>quote unquote content, I think, but there was content shaped objects, yes,
<v Speaker 4>right righttideo of it.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah right. Everything would be like why are like, to
<v Speaker 2>what end are we playing this level? And we didn't
<v Speaker 2>have a good answer.
<v Speaker 1>I'm searching my memory banks here. But was there a
<v Speaker 1>lot of meat in the game?
<v Speaker 4>There's some meat?
<v Speaker 1>I don't, I don't remember, but to qualify it as
<v Speaker 1>like king of Meat, you know, yeah, well I don't.
<v Speaker 3>I don't remember meat being like a like a top
<v Speaker 3>theme of that game, not.
<v Speaker 4>A huge one.
<v Speaker 3>Uh.
<v Speaker 2>Saints Row design director says ip Owner ghosted his prequel pitch.
<v Speaker 2>Chris Dockman, the design director of the original Saints Row,
<v Speaker 2>says he fears that the franchise is dead after the
<v Speaker 2>I p Owner Embracer Group Remember Them allegedly ignored his
<v Speaker 2>pitch for a prequels. Docman, who had been asked to
<v Speaker 2>create a pitch for a reboot, revealed on Discord that
<v Speaker 2>Embracer has ghosted him, leading him to believe the company
<v Speaker 2>is unable to move forward with the series. The idea
<v Speaker 2>was gonna be it was gonna take place in the
<v Speaker 2>nineteen seventies, detailing the origins of the Gangs from the
<v Speaker 2>first game, which he contrasted with the poorly received twenty
<v Speaker 2>twenty two reboot, which tried to modernize things and make
<v Speaker 2>things slick and kind of a gen Z without even
<v Speaker 2>understanding what gen Z was. Yeah, that game is bad. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>this one feels like it's definitely in the Oh, that's
<v Speaker 2>definitely on ice, and there's there's no risk of it
<v Speaker 2>coming back anytime soon, right, Yeah, because that's.
<v Speaker 4>About as good an idea as you can have too.
<v Speaker 4>And yeah, and it's weird because I mean, do you
<v Speaker 4>remake the first two Saint Rose maybe sat Throw three
<v Speaker 4>has already been remastered. It's in with four, so yep. Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>and then you know it's Embrace owns. It's Yeah, that
<v Speaker 4>series is probably on ice, perhaps permanently.
<v Speaker 1>M I even like in a post GTA six world,
<v Speaker 1>I don't see where a Saints ro game would particularly
<v Speaker 1>be successful, especially with like the tone even with the
<v Speaker 1>original trilogy.
<v Speaker 3>Had Yeah, we've passed the point where like that parody
<v Speaker 3>is like parody.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah right, because like GT like five even was like
<v Speaker 1>clowning on itself.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>Well, well it's like how I can't watch Idiocracy anymore
<v Speaker 3>because you're like, oh, this is real. There's a documentary,
<v Speaker 3>so you kind I think that's I think that's a
<v Speaker 3>similar spot that thing rose in.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, and and like yeah, I see here in Chad,
<v Speaker 2>if you do a gang based one like the first one,
<v Speaker 2>it might have some legs and it's like yeah, but
<v Speaker 2>I also think that that they don't know how to
<v Speaker 2>thread that needle anymore and make that work today and
<v Speaker 2>make it feel like a modern game. And I think
<v Speaker 2>that's probably what where they're at and why they're not
<v Speaker 2>doing it all right. PS five outsold switched to In
<v Speaker 2>the US. Last month, there was the Sirkana report, basically
<v Speaker 2>video game sales are up slightly despite only one new
<v Speaker 2>game on the chart, which was Code Vein two, which
<v Speaker 2>was I think it came in at number eleven. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>the PlayStation five is selling very well. Seems like they're
<v Speaker 2>continue to do discounts and bundles and stuff like that,
<v Speaker 2>and that's helping. And Switch too came in at second.
<v Speaker 2>That's pretty normal for a console early on in its
<v Speaker 2>life cycle, because the bell curve is you sell a
<v Speaker 2>lot more in year two and year three and kind
<v Speaker 2>of even even into year four a little bit than
<v Speaker 2>you do in the first calendar year that the console
<v Speaker 2>is up for sale. But there's a lot more switch
<v Speaker 2>Tos in stores than there ever are of these other
<v Speaker 2>very successful consoles. So what do you guys think about
<v Speaker 2>the vibes around the switch to right now in terms
<v Speaker 2>of how it's performing and how people are feeling about it.
<v Speaker 4>They need more games, they need more like Hi, they
<v Speaker 4>need more like yeah eighty five plus Switch to Champs
<v Speaker 4>game exclusives right now.
<v Speaker 1>Right.
<v Speaker 3>It was like it was like right when it came out,
<v Speaker 3>it was like a lot of talk about like, oh,
<v Speaker 3>there's nothing to play on this thing.
<v Speaker 1>Look, there's no way to know. There's no way to
<v Speaker 1>know who was saying that, since Oh my god, it
<v Speaker 1>was me. Look, I thought Prime four would be good, Okay,
<v Speaker 1>I look, not a lot of things can be as
<v Speaker 1>good as Metroid Prime.
<v Speaker 2>Fo sure, nothing.
<v Speaker 3>I was deceived by my favorite video game website where
<v Speaker 3>I was like, oh, man, five out of five.
<v Speaker 1>That means it's gonna instantly rule and.
<v Speaker 3>My favorite website fucking lied.
<v Speaker 2>To me, your favorite author at your favorite website. Please,
<v Speaker 2>I love that. We're gonna get.
<v Speaker 4>Ship for this forever for having us for out there.
<v Speaker 4>You have an opinion that went slightly gets the grain.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, that's the yeah.
<v Speaker 1>If you look, if you like that bit, you're gonna
<v Speaker 1>be well served.
<v Speaker 2>The next couple of weeks.
<v Speaker 4>Man. I mean, look like I thought. I know some
<v Speaker 4>people have been saying for a while, I was okay
<v Speaker 4>for a while. Like I was fine with Mario Kart.
<v Speaker 4>I liked Donkey Kong a ton even I liked Kirby
<v Speaker 4>air Ride a lot. Yeah, and it really it has
<v Speaker 4>been to make Metro Prime for honestly, where it just
<v Speaker 4>has been like huh, and like I'm fine because I
<v Speaker 4>you know, I like RPG, so I can just go.
<v Speaker 4>I bought Wizardry One, the remake, and that'll probably keep
<v Speaker 4>me occupied for a month. And after I played MEO,
<v Speaker 4>so I always have things to play. But it is strange.
<v Speaker 4>You do expect there to be a bit more exciting
<v Speaker 4>Nintendo based software, and Pacopeia is coming soon. It seems
<v Speaker 4>like maybe that's going to be more of a big
<v Speaker 4>deal than initially anticipated. We're gonna they're gonna announce the
<v Speaker 4>new Pokemon game on Friday. Hopefully that looks cool, But boy,
<v Speaker 4>I do I sure with like a director something to
<v Speaker 4>get an idea of things, we.
<v Speaker 1>Need one of those.
<v Speaker 2>We need a we need like a table setter.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, we need we need a one of those directs
<v Speaker 3>where it's like, oh shit, we got the next sixteen
<v Speaker 3>months laid out.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I'm feeling good about it.
<v Speaker 2>But Ryppen, it's gonna be cool.
<v Speaker 4>Tomadaca is gonna be cool. It's gonna be great. Games. Uh,
<v Speaker 4>you know, it's a fire on them at some point.
<v Speaker 5>But you know, look's the only one man that really
<v Speaker 5>sells console Luigi exactly until he gets his own independent
<v Speaker 5>three D platformer.
<v Speaker 3>That shit ain't moving.
<v Speaker 2>It was Zelda's fortieth anniversary over the weekend. Nintendo didn't
<v Speaker 2>really do much for it, but it's worth pointing out
<v Speaker 2>that we're also still in what I think Nintendo might
<v Speaker 2>be considering the fortieth anniversary for Mario, because that was
<v Speaker 2>last year and the movie hasn't come out, hasn't come
<v Speaker 2>out yet, and that was April, right, that's April, and
<v Speaker 2>that was part of that fortieth anniversary announcement stuff, so
<v Speaker 2>they might still be focused on Mario. Uh that when
<v Speaker 2>that movie comes out. Do you think maybe there's a
<v Speaker 2>direct around that time to be like, here's where we
<v Speaker 2>can really have the biggest impact about people being excited
<v Speaker 2>about Mario And here's a new three D Mario announced.
<v Speaker 2>There you go with that.
<v Speaker 3>That kind of fixed the vibes a little bit. Yes,
<v Speaker 3>they need to cash in on the momentum that that
<v Speaker 3>movie will bring in. Yeah, right, that is what needs
<v Speaker 3>to needs to sort of happen. I mean my switch
<v Speaker 3>to right now is a glorified Fortnite machine. It's good,
<v Speaker 3>you know, it's it's great. It's a great Fortnite machine.
<v Speaker 3>But in the same way you know, uh, you people
<v Speaker 3>people would buy MacBook pros just to go on Facebook
<v Speaker 3>all day. Like, I don't know what to tell you. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>it needs a shot in the arm for sure. I
<v Speaker 3>need to know that there's a there's a cool, exciting
<v Speaker 3>roadmap ahead.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>I still like a bit more on the cynical side
<v Speaker 4>about new three D Mario, Like maybe that can happen.
<v Speaker 4>But again, like people just released the game and maybe
<v Speaker 4>they have multiple teams. Maybe that game was in the
<v Speaker 4>bank but still hard to see. But you know, even
<v Speaker 4>if it's not that, you could have next level show
<v Speaker 4>we just mentioned four and that can be exciting.
<v Speaker 3>What was the last direct that, like, I feel like
<v Speaker 3>there was a decent direct at some point.
<v Speaker 4>That talked about okay, there wasn't matter a prime for one.
<v Speaker 4>I mean, this is the one that revealed fire on them.
<v Speaker 4>I guess, right would probably yeah, yeah at the end,
<v Speaker 4>which I bet it wasn't okay direct, but I don't know.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, well, we'll we'll see. I think you're right, Mike.
<v Speaker 2>The the three D Mario is a big question, do
<v Speaker 2>you guys? Oh, there's also leaks based on a synopsis
<v Speaker 2>for the Mario two movie that got out there. I
<v Speaker 2>would say it's actually worth avoiding because it was I
<v Speaker 2>was surprised by the character that they name dropped.
<v Speaker 6>That's going to be maybe I don't want I don't
<v Speaker 6>want to shadow the Hedgehog well because it's like because
<v Speaker 6>you can maybe maybe see them for a frame and
<v Speaker 6>a trailer and maybe we're imagining it.
<v Speaker 4>But it's interesting.
<v Speaker 3>But maybe the entire roster of Mike Tyston's punch out
<v Speaker 3>is in this game.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah that is there.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, a little mac is there with all of
<v Speaker 2>his stereotypical friends. It's great.
<v Speaker 1>To bring this back.
<v Speaker 4>That's yeah, call that'll hit hard absolutely.
<v Speaker 2>Twenty twenty six. Uh, finally I wrote down here. People
<v Speaker 2>are mad about Pokemon. They're on Nintendo decided to sell
<v Speaker 2>those twenty year old Game Boy Advance versions of Leaf
<v Speaker 2>Green and Fire Red. Right, that's right. They're gonna be
<v Speaker 2>twenty dollars each, or they are twenty dollars each. They
<v Speaker 2>also don't have multiple languages in it, so if you want,
<v Speaker 2>like the English and Spanish versions, you got to buy
<v Speaker 2>them separately for some reason. That's weird, Yes, very strange.
<v Speaker 2>But yeah, everyone's pretty upset about this, and I bet
<v Speaker 2>they're gonna sell a lot of those copies. There are
<v Speaker 2>a lot of copies of those.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I'm surprised, Like there's some people are said, I've
<v Speaker 4>seen a few of my people like, I'm glad they're
<v Speaker 4>doing this instead of nso because now I'm going to
<v Speaker 4>own the game. And I'm like, Okay, now, I guess
<v Speaker 4>that's I guess owning a digital copy quote is still
<v Speaker 4>more ownership to people than having it as part of
<v Speaker 4>a subscription service. Sure, yeah, I think it's a combination
<v Speaker 4>of they can make the money, so why not, and
<v Speaker 4>also maybe it makes it easier for them to integrate
<v Speaker 4>it with home and I know, like home support was
<v Speaker 4>advertised and taken back. I assume that's going to be
<v Speaker 4>It's part of which part of me always I always
<v Speaker 4>kind of resent that stuff a bit or whatever people
<v Speaker 4>try to justify it, or I think Vanelius, I'd be like, well,
<v Speaker 4>because you know, there'd be rewhy features on NSO And
<v Speaker 4>I'm always like, I as somebody who just plays these
<v Speaker 4>games as RPGs and it's not worried about competitive play
<v Speaker 4>or making sure that I have my same squirtle from
<v Speaker 4>twenty years ago in my current game. I always like,
<v Speaker 4>I think that we have to like go through all
<v Speaker 4>of these hoopes just for this kind of smaller group
<v Speaker 4>of players happen.
<v Speaker 1>Now.
<v Speaker 4>This is from the asshole who plays smash bars with
<v Speaker 4>items off, and I'll finals this the nation, right, So
<v Speaker 4>I do get it, I suppose, But I think I
<v Speaker 4>think I'm gonna be good. I've played through Gen one
<v Speaker 4>Pokemon plenty of times. I don't think I'm going to
<v Speaker 4>need to spend twenty bucks just to do it again
<v Speaker 4>on a GBA ROM which those are not very difficult
<v Speaker 4>to find.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, if people really want to play this, yes, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I'm in a similar camp, but on a different side
<v Speaker 1>of it with Mike, where I'm a weird Pokemon siko
<v Speaker 1>and I wouldn't mind if this was on NS instead.
<v Speaker 1>Even the quality of life stuff that I don't know
<v Speaker 1>if they've necessarily added, I don't think it's enough to
<v Speaker 1>entice me to dip back into fire Red or leaf Green.
<v Speaker 1>If anything, there's other fan made Pokemon mods that are
<v Speaker 1>doing some wild stuff, cool things that I wouldn't invest in.
<v Speaker 2>Instead, I will probably be interested still to watch that
<v Speaker 2>Pokemon Day presentation, which is going to happen on that
<v Speaker 2>Thursday morning.
<v Speaker 1>That's Friday morning.
<v Speaker 4>Friday morning my time, baby, all.
<v Speaker 2>Right, So Friday morning we'll talk over that, and I'm
<v Speaker 2>sure we'll have more to say about this there. But yeah,
<v Speaker 2>gen ten all that stuff. We'll see how I feel
<v Speaker 2>about Pokemon after that. I bet all stuff for reasons
<v Speaker 2>to be mad if I wanted to. All right, Oh yeah,
<v Speaker 2>that's deadlines. That's just how Pokemon fans are always.
<v Speaker 4>I don't think it mad. The starter is not being
<v Speaker 4>cool enough to me.
<v Speaker 2>No, the starters will be cool. It'll be their evolutions
<v Speaker 2>that yeah, I'll look more and more like just boxers,
<v Speaker 2>which is always what happens somehow.
<v Speaker 1>The second stage evolution will continue to never matter.
<v Speaker 2>Oh no, it's you're gonna be that for fifty seconds.
<v Speaker 2>Dreamed about war Turtle last night. Oh go on, you
<v Speaker 2>don't have to learn everything about me.
<v Speaker 1>Did they get stuck? I was gonna get Yeah?
<v Speaker 4>You gross?
<v Speaker 2>Did you blastois anyway?
<v Speaker 1>You know what?
<v Speaker 4>I believe that I'm not gonna be here for the
<v Speaker 4>third segment. No, it's because jury doctor's appointment that I
<v Speaker 4>can't miss.
<v Speaker 1>That's how do I read YouTube super chats? What you all?
<v Speaker 2>Right?
<v Speaker 1>Well, I'm gonna need to take a quick bricky break
<v Speaker 1>to deal with the heartbreak of Mikey leaving after this segment.
<v Speaker 1>So we're gonna do these emails. BombCast Giant bomb dot
<v Speaker 1>com is email addressed to send your emails to. You
<v Speaker 1>can write in about any and everything, and folks, we
<v Speaker 1>continue to be flooded with a bunch of emails.
<v Speaker 4>So thank you.
<v Speaker 1>It means a lot to me. Thanks for sending in
<v Speaker 1>your emails too. And now they're not even trying to
<v Speaker 1>get out an awkward social interaction. Instead, you're just writing
<v Speaker 1>in about goings on's that you've heard on this podcast,
<v Speaker 1>other podcasts, the website as a whole. So we're gonna
<v Speaker 1>read a bunch of them because we got a bunch
<v Speaker 1>of them. Also, Mike Manatti had to leave Scout please.
<v Speaker 1>I know, I know you're also excited about emails. Oh Scout,
<v Speaker 1>Oh this is news Scouts. She's investigating something here, all right, Well,
<v Speaker 1>starting with the first email here, Miles from Saskatoon. Right, so, hey, dude,
<v Speaker 1>a Reno's It was on my way to work this
<v Speaker 1>morning when I Want You by Savage Garden came on
<v Speaker 1>the radio. I was instantly transported to watching Jojo along
<v Speaker 1>with Jeff Jeff's Bizarre Adventure Show and reminded how much
<v Speaker 1>I miss it. My question for you all is there
<v Speaker 1>a song you here that makes you think of a
<v Speaker 1>specific scene or show or movie. Another one for me
<v Speaker 1>is the dang Outer Wild's theme takes me to the
<v Speaker 1>ending of the game. Okay, I love you all, Miles
<v Speaker 1>from Saskatoon.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean there's definitely songs that do that. I mean,
<v Speaker 2>obviously it's gonna be like big ones, right, Like, I
<v Speaker 2>don't know anything from a Scorsese movie. All those are
<v Speaker 2>just big needle drops. So sure, good job of associating
<v Speaker 2>that music with his with those scene from those films.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, those those outro JoJo's songs are so good.
<v Speaker 2>So am I to understand that Savage Gardens I Want
<v Speaker 2>You was an outro song for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. That's correct.
<v Speaker 3>Wow, that's amazing season three or four and.
<v Speaker 2>Incredibly okay, amazing.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, and then you know, yeah, like when and now,
<v Speaker 3>when I hear any of those songs, it's just like,
<v Speaker 3>oh my god, I just think like.
<v Speaker 1>There's something about and apparently there was.
<v Speaker 3>I have not I've not watched all of the JoJo's yet,
<v Speaker 3>but like apparently there's like even there's like a I
<v Speaker 3>think there's a Sound Garden one too, I think in
<v Speaker 3>future seasons. Not one hundred percent sure about that.
<v Speaker 2>But what's the other one?
<v Speaker 3>Runner about roundabout?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah? Round about yeah? Roundabout is probably.
<v Speaker 3>The one that like everyone is familiar with, even if
<v Speaker 3>you don't know anything about JoJo's.
<v Speaker 2>All right, that was a meme.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, when I think of when I hear tears for Fears, uh,
<v Speaker 3>I guess it's head over heels. I just think Donnie dark.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, Don's gonna if you would have had me, guess
<v Speaker 2>would said, you're probably thinking of Donnie Darko.
<v Speaker 3>Okay that I think that is such a real powerful
<v Speaker 3>we'll fly through introduction of the school in that movie.
<v Speaker 3>You gonna go back and watch that again.
<v Speaker 1>It's been a couple of years.
<v Speaker 3>Uh, fill up the old Donnie Darko tank, you know.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, I've not seen that in a long time either.
<v Speaker 2>I wonder what I would think at this point. Days
<v Speaker 2>to Confused, the entire soundtrack of that basically you can
<v Speaker 2>play any song from there and I'll be like, Okay, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I'm thinking of this moment from Dayson Confused, which I
<v Speaker 2>guess the director I was like, in order to get
<v Speaker 2>those songs, he gave up his rights of like the
<v Speaker 2>the album sales for the official movie soundtrack, and that
<v Speaker 2>was like one of the best selling soundtracks of all time. Wow,
<v Speaker 2>it's dond a chunk of change there, I think.
<v Speaker 3>And this is sort of where we're just going with
<v Speaker 3>the with the emailers question. But like, yes, in terms
<v Speaker 3>of movie soundtracks, I think Dazing Reviews is one of those.
<v Speaker 3>I also think the Wedding Singer is one of those
<v Speaker 3>as well. The Wedding Singer soundtrack is banger after banger,
<v Speaker 3>and I'm just instantly transported to that film when I
<v Speaker 3>hear some of those tracks.
<v Speaker 1>For sure, there's gonna be an interesting delineation when the
<v Speaker 1>song I Need a Hero comes on, because there will
<v Speaker 1>be a group of millennials that will forever associate it
<v Speaker 1>with Shrek, and then little gimmicks gen zers out there
<v Speaker 1>that will associate with the Super Mario movie. So interesting.
<v Speaker 1>The Pest song always reminds me of the Pest.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, yeah, it reminds me of the Declaration of Independence.
<v Speaker 1>Yes yes, and oh boy, oh boy. All right, moving along,
<v Speaker 1>Casey from Texas writes in Hidooters, I'm so glad to
<v Speaker 1>hear about Jan's new health kick started taking some malgitude semaglutide.
<v Speaker 1>I'm not. I'm going to continue to mispronounce it and
<v Speaker 1>counting calories and I've lost over ninety pounds nine months.
<v Speaker 1>It was shockingly easy to do so molly limiting myself
<v Speaker 1>to around fifteen hundred calories a day and minimal exercise.
<v Speaker 1>I'm the life I've ever been in my adult life.
<v Speaker 1>Keep it up, jin and fuck Ice. Casey from Texas.
<v Speaker 2>Sorry, Nope, it's not megma Nope.
<v Speaker 3>What is semaglitude smaglatide?
<v Speaker 2>It is the zempi.
<v Speaker 1>That's oh, it is like the actual Yeah you know, okay,
<v Speaker 1>it's what.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, there's Zeppetite as well, which is like a slightly
<v Speaker 2>more improved formula, less nausea, more effective, but uh, Semaglutide,
<v Speaker 2>it's like the first one, and that's ZIMPI got it.
<v Speaker 1>All right. Dom from Colorado Alright said hey, Duders, my
<v Speaker 1>son is in the third grade and loves basketball. He
<v Speaker 1>was signed up for your local little league. However, with
<v Speaker 1>no coach, his season was in jeopardy. I decided to
<v Speaker 1>step up and coach. And when I say I'm the
<v Speaker 1>least qualified person to coach, that's an overstatement. If anything.
<v Speaker 1>I've only played once in middle school, never made a basket,
<v Speaker 1>and my dad had to yell at me to move
<v Speaker 1>my arms because I ran like an anime character. So
<v Speaker 1>I was extremely nervous about the experience, but it turned
<v Speaker 1>out to be one of the best things I've ever done.
<v Speaker 1>Our team is currently four and one, and it's been
<v Speaker 1>such an incredible experience. The kids on this team are
<v Speaker 1>so amazing, and I've been able to share an experience
<v Speaker 1>with my son that we'll both remember forever. I'm so
<v Speaker 1>proud of them. They're an amazing group of boys. Have
<v Speaker 1>any of you ever decided to try something new that
<v Speaker 1>you really were hesitant about that ended up being one
<v Speaker 1>of the best things you ever did. Keep up the
<v Speaker 1>great work you all, rock Dom from Colorado PS. Whenever
<v Speaker 1>I wear a Giant Bomb shirt, I get so many
<v Speaker 1>compliments and there's so many fans of the site out there.
<v Speaker 1>You all have a lot of love. Oh that's nice,
<v Speaker 1>he's domb.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, this is a I'm bad. I can think
<v Speaker 2>of examples. I don't know. I feel like everything I
<v Speaker 2>did as a kid, especially I was hesitant about, and
<v Speaker 2>then when I ended up doing it, I probably had
<v Speaker 2>a good time or it was formative, so like like yeah,
<v Speaker 2>like my parents made me joint snow the snow club
<v Speaker 2>or ski club. I should say, uh, I didn't. That
<v Speaker 2>was not my choice. I didn't have anything like any
<v Speaker 2>saying that whatsoever. And then I did it and really
<v Speaker 2>ended up enjoying it, and it's been a big part
<v Speaker 2>of my life since.
<v Speaker 1>Why are we not skiing together?
<v Speaker 2>I don't know.
<v Speaker 3>It's expensive, I know, but like, oh, we can, Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>we can. It's a it seems like a retreat. It
<v Speaker 3>seems like some sort of oh yeah, we should write
<v Speaker 3>off football thing, you know.
<v Speaker 2>Exactly in the gap.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, like going a tube.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, people are rocking those foot foot skis now, yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I kind of wanted to try that. That looks like fun.
<v Speaker 3>I'll try that out.
<v Speaker 2>Okay.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, they're basically like they just like roller skates. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>they just want them to be like, you know, independent,
<v Speaker 3>they're almost like little ice skates. Really yeah, like a
<v Speaker 3>tiny snowboard on your on your boot. Oh yeah, all right,
<v Speaker 3>we say that.
<v Speaker 2>This does fly with my theory that coaches for most
<v Speaker 2>teams in most sports, it doesn't matter. It doesn't like,
<v Speaker 2>you don't need to know what you're what you're doing.
<v Speaker 2>It's gonna come down to whether or not the players
<v Speaker 2>are good. They're the ones actually doing it. So yeah,
<v Speaker 2>in the middle school, go and coach any team, even
<v Speaker 2>if you never have made a basket in that sport
<v Speaker 2>in your life.
<v Speaker 3>I hate to say this, but I would like to
<v Speaker 3>one disagree.
<v Speaker 2>I think maybe for little kids like they're four and one,
<v Speaker 2>though back this first, it doesn't know what they're doing.
<v Speaker 2>I'm just saying the evidence is right there.
<v Speaker 1>Maybe they're doing plays, maybe they're like hyping up the
<v Speaker 1>team in a way.
<v Speaker 2>I know that's that You're right, that's important, Like if
<v Speaker 2>you can make a team that actually cared, that's that's
<v Speaker 2>what I mean. Like the x's and o's are far
<v Speaker 2>less important than they make it out to be.
<v Speaker 1>Like third grade, you're how old?
<v Speaker 2>What is it like? You're eight? Maybe? Oh yeah, you're eight.
<v Speaker 3>It's yeah, yeah, it definitely starts to matter at some point.
<v Speaker 2>I'll tell you when it stops mattering again. It's in
<v Speaker 2>college all that matters in like college sports, all that
<v Speaker 2>matters is recruiting. If you're good at recruiting, you're gonna
<v Speaker 2>have the best team, and if you're bad at recruiting,
<v Speaker 2>you're gonna have a bad team.
<v Speaker 3>And I would just say this too, right, like, you know,
<v Speaker 3>the the level of competition that I watched my kid
<v Speaker 3>play in hockey now, it's it's it's it's like really
<v Speaker 3>making substantial jumps. And sometimes they will play a team
<v Speaker 3>that doesn't have one standout superstar, but the team is rob.
<v Speaker 2>And they know and they see the difference.
<v Speaker 3>And when you watch that from a bird's eye view,
<v Speaker 3>especially like being in the crowd and you see a
<v Speaker 3>team click like that, You're like, oh my fucking god.
<v Speaker 3>These kids are like from a different planet and none
<v Speaker 3>of them stand out, but they just all are in sync.
<v Speaker 3>And I think that stuff is what you get from
<v Speaker 3>good coaching obviously, like the Ballers, the superstars are just
<v Speaker 3>always gonna be like you know, one person shows.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, fantastic, fantastic. Next email comes from Chris from Alabama. Hey, BombCast,
<v Speaker 1>so Jan recently has mentioned starting the journey of watching
<v Speaker 1>One Piece, and I was really curious to hear your
<v Speaker 1>thoughts on it so far. Also, as a fellow TCG player,
<v Speaker 1>I highly recommend checking out the One Piece TCG. The
<v Speaker 1>game's fantastic to play. The cards look amazing, little tougher
<v Speaker 1>to get at the moment due to Pokemon's counpers moving
<v Speaker 1>into it lately, but it's definitely worth checking out. Chris
<v Speaker 1>from Alabama, Hey, one Piece, it's like a thousand plus episodes,
<v Speaker 1>I think, and I know it's going to take an
<v Speaker 1>obscene amount of time to catch up to wherever it
<v Speaker 1>is in modern day or whatever.
<v Speaker 2>You even considering I'm catching up, that's insane.
<v Speaker 1>I'm just putting it on it's just on and I'm
<v Speaker 1>just watching it. And here's the thing that I am
<v Speaker 1>the most upset about. I feel like I've existed on
<v Speaker 1>the internet publicly where people have grown to know my
<v Speaker 1>tastes for quite a while, and people know I love
<v Speaker 1>found families, I love overthrowing things, I love a speaking
<v Speaker 1>about found families. I have a ragtag group of misfits
<v Speaker 1>led by a bunch of weirdos. This is my fucking shit.
<v Speaker 2>What the hell?
<v Speaker 1>How come no one's like told sat me down and
<v Speaker 1>said you need to watch this.
<v Speaker 2>This is when you talked about one piece on the internet.
<v Speaker 3>It's not it's so weird, but specifically sat me down. Yes,
<v Speaker 3>I know exactly how you feel. Jen like it's for you,
<v Speaker 3>like like like Cowboy Bebop.
<v Speaker 2>I was like, no one ever, no.
<v Speaker 3>One Ever's like, hey, backler, this is like the most
<v Speaker 3>your ship thing ever.
<v Speaker 2>No one did ship.
<v Speaker 3>You don't tell me anything exactly, and I feel you, man,
<v Speaker 3>you're right, And it's just like one of those things
<v Speaker 3>of like, do y'all not actually like me out there
<v Speaker 3>that you didn't want to do? You not care this
<v Speaker 3>thing in front of me that I would love. It's
<v Speaker 3>you know, Backlaur and I have been hurt. You know
<v Speaker 3>it's people are assholes, Jen, people are assholes.
<v Speaker 2>That's why. That's the Yeah, I get it. I had
<v Speaker 2>a good friend friend named adult Swim that showed me
<v Speaker 2>Cowboy Bebop and Foolly Cooley and all the best animes.
<v Speaker 2>I don't need any other friends.
<v Speaker 3>I turned it off because it confused me.
<v Speaker 1>So what is is not my fault.
<v Speaker 3>Whenever it turned into that, whenever Aquatine went off and
<v Speaker 3>then the anime came on, I said, I'm not supposed
<v Speaker 3>to understand that this is too titillating.
<v Speaker 2>I need an adult.
<v Speaker 1>But God, I suddenly understand why the straw hat flag
<v Speaker 1>I see at every protest because man, I gang, I
<v Speaker 1>get it. Media literacy all time low, all all time low.
<v Speaker 1>It's ever been right people, big domies out there. But
<v Speaker 1>if you watch this show and don't understand how much
<v Speaker 1>it is saying, fuck the government, they're trying to exploit us.
<v Speaker 1>Let's work together as people and save each other. Dog,
<v Speaker 1>you got to do more than touch grass. Go go
<v Speaker 1>back to fucking school, you dumb fuck. Anyway, I'm really
<v Speaker 1>enjoying it. I'm gonna stick with it so far, I
<v Speaker 1>really love oosup. Also, I love that on Netflix at
<v Speaker 1>least it'll have like TV fourteen blah blah blah, so
<v Speaker 1>just of content. And every single episode one of the
<v Speaker 1>suggestive content things that they show is smoking, because one
<v Speaker 1>character is just constantly smoking. I yet it all right?
<v Speaker 1>Oh gosh, we have so many emails now and I
<v Speaker 1>feel like I'm drowning in them. Okay, this one comes
<v Speaker 1>from Time from Portland. Howdy gents, Just a heads up
<v Speaker 1>that what Just a heads up that what was Boy
<v Speaker 1>Scouts is now Scouting America and allows.
<v Speaker 2>Everyone to join.
<v Speaker 1>My daughter sold the shit out of popcorn this year
<v Speaker 1>and loved the Pinewood Derby. Just thought I would bring
<v Speaker 1>you all to the modern era tie from Portland.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I think, man, I think Emmy would really like
<v Speaker 2>the Pinewood Derby. The Pinewood Derby rule. Do you guys
<v Speaker 2>ever do that?
<v Speaker 1>No?
<v Speaker 2>The Boy Scouts now called Scouting of America. It's you
<v Speaker 2>get a little you get a little block of pine
<v Speaker 2>wood in a box. You get to carve it into
<v Speaker 2>whatever shape you want.
<v Speaker 1>And a small one, yes, okay.
<v Speaker 2>And then and then you go and you take your
<v Speaker 2>car and you put it on a big platform that
<v Speaker 2>has like four tracks or whatever, and everyone like all
<v Speaker 2>the other cars get put on there and then they
<v Speaker 2>just let the gate down and whoever gets to the
<v Speaker 2>bottom fast, like you could put you put weight on
<v Speaker 2>your Pinewood car and you can distribute it how you want.
<v Speaker 2>Whoever has the fastest car wins. That's you kind of
<v Speaker 2>run races all day. It was dumb and fun. It
<v Speaker 2>was really formative.
<v Speaker 1>We should have a Pinewood Derby.
<v Speaker 2>She just have We could just have a Pinewood Derby.
<v Speaker 2>There's no one stopping us.
<v Speaker 1>There's no one stopping us, okay, all right, And we.
<v Speaker 2>Should have allowed cheating. Yes, we could do all kinds like, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>there's a weight limit, but if you can find a
<v Speaker 2>way around it.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, my car is just gonna be grease. Yeah yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Pinewood Derby Week is coming twenty seven.
<v Speaker 1>Fantastic twenty seven. We have too many weeks playing this year,
<v Speaker 1>all right, last email of the show and then we'll
<v Speaker 1>get to YouTube. Super chats Cooper and San Jose rights
<v Speaker 1>in Hey Bombers. Last year, my dog Moneypenny passed away,
<v Speaker 1>and a few months later my partner and I were
<v Speaker 1>looking to get a new cat. Wanted to I wanted
<v Speaker 1>a dog, she wanted a cat, so we compromised and
<v Speaker 1>got two cats. For about seven months, I've been struggling
<v Speaker 1>on how to play video games with these cats.
<v Speaker 2>They love to hit sparks. They not have thumbs, so
<v Speaker 2>they love the.
<v Speaker 1>Hit sparks on Perry's and seci Ro small dust particles
<v Speaker 1>in Ari four remake, and go absolutely crazy with everything
<v Speaker 1>going on in sectory. I've pretty much had to put
<v Speaker 1>any game with small moving particle effects on hold while
<v Speaker 1>the cats are awake. Any advice for how to play
<v Speaker 1>games play these games without cats going in to complete
<v Speaker 1>hunting mode and blocking the screen from site love everything
<v Speaker 1>y'all are doing Cooper in San Jose.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, that's that's wild. But both cats do this usually.
<v Speaker 2>It's like a cat will maybe occasionally care about what's
<v Speaker 2>on the TV. Are they young cats? Maybe because they'll
<v Speaker 2>chill out if they get older. If they're still young,
<v Speaker 2>that makes sense. If they're older and still doing this,
<v Speaker 2>they might just do it forever. Uh yeah, look, you
<v Speaker 2>might just be stuck with this. That's how ghoes. That's
<v Speaker 2>what the cat is. Their personality is what you just
<v Speaker 2>have to deal with. They're not going to change.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and now there's two of them that you got
<v Speaker 1>to deal with. I hope you get one of those
<v Speaker 1>cool uh space station looking uh litter boxes.
<v Speaker 3>Oh, I just can't add anything to this last like
<v Speaker 3>a goddamn monsters. I'm just kid my stupid mouth shut.
<v Speaker 1>Look at the growth, folks.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, that's pretty good. Let's get good job back. All
<v Speaker 2>are well done. I'm afraid of those space ship port
<v Speaker 2>litter boxes. I'm afraid it's gonna eat my cat.
<v Speaker 1>Fair enough, I don't want to use them, all right,
<v Speaker 1>Cooper has a ps here ps was having a discussion
<v Speaker 1>with one of my students about San Jose, and I
<v Speaker 1>was telling them how, yes, technically it's a part of

<v Speaker 1>taking in GB. I don't know if there's more to this.
<v Speaker 1>I actually don't know how to read super chats, but

<v Speaker 1>You think p Spence is gonna get up to in
<v Speaker 1>his retirement or posts going to go back to Destiny.
<v Speaker 2>He's gonna play seven thousand more hours of Destiny and
<v Speaker 2>that's it.
<v Speaker 1>I I want him to resurface in the public eye,
<v Speaker 1>maybe like in a year from now, and just have
<v Speaker 1>long hair.
<v Speaker 2>Oh that would rule.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, if it goes all David Letterman on us and
<v Speaker 3>just like comes back completely gray with a gigantic beard.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I want him to get off of the zemp also,
<v Speaker 1>and just like I want him to be like, look
<v Speaker 1>like a healthy person.
<v Speaker 2>I want to get a big and strong yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, oh yeah, let's do that. But he also has
<v Speaker 1>to pick up a he always wears sunglasses.
<v Speaker 2>Now, I'm not gonna lie.
<v Speaker 3>I would watch the What's Phil Doing Now? Document a
<v Speaker 3>reality show?
<v Speaker 1>I would.
<v Speaker 3>I would be like, what puts my man up to
<v Speaker 3>these next six months?
<v Speaker 2>I would?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, Phil, I mean you've been on the couch before.
<v Speaker 1>You want to be like a rotating chair on the
<v Speaker 1>dump truck, I mean sleep on our couch.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I feel like a couch appearance now makes more
<v Speaker 3>sense than ever.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, Alex WP, did you take your tree down yet? Mike,
<v Speaker 1>or did you just sing the grub song all weekend?
<v Speaker 1>We'll never know, We'll never.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I choose to believe he just sang the grub song.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I don't think that. I think that tree is
<v Speaker 3>still up. I think he cleaned his house, but I
<v Speaker 3>think he was like, wow, the tree can stay up
<v Speaker 3>for the winner. So he just says that that's that's
<v Speaker 3>the voice in his head.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Uh. Bobby hot Dog ninety one, the Vancouver child Kicker,
<v Speaker 1>is among among us be wary of long backs and
<v Speaker 1>weak ankles office chairs, stand no chance?
<v Speaker 2>What I don't? I don't know. I think maybe song.
<v Speaker 3>Okay, i'll Bobby hot Dog, explain yourself. I like your energy,
<v Speaker 3>but explain yourself.
<v Speaker 1>Don't like what you're standing for because of the hot Dogs,
<v Speaker 1>probably though, Yeah, all right. Mike on drums rights in
<v Speaker 1>hanging it out passenger side of his best friend's ride.
<v Speaker 1>That's Mike min NAUGHTI yeah, pretty good. CLF twenty nine
<v Speaker 1>to ten. Mike, pitch your Highway to Hell Diablo series.
<v Speaker 1>I want to see it. Well, he can't know, he
<v Speaker 1>can't do it.
<v Speaker 2>No, Yeah, we don't let him pitch anyhow.
<v Speaker 1>Big Fresh thirty seven. I can't believe Phil Spencer didn't
<v Speaker 1>pull over Gunter put over Gunter on his way out. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>it's a shame you want to Yeah, exactly, you go
<v Speaker 1>out on your back. Come on, Phil, three laid runner.
<v Speaker 1>Any future plans for video podcasts in the premium feed
<v Speaker 1>on Apple Podcasts would be pretty sweet. That is a
<v Speaker 1>little bit more challenging for Chuck to do because of
<v Speaker 1>RSS feeds and how Apple Podcasts handles video, but we're
<v Speaker 1>gonna put it on.
<v Speaker 2>So Chuck just vetoed this.
<v Speaker 1>So yeah, no it's not okay, I guess I guess
<v Speaker 1>you could just do that.
<v Speaker 2>Okay. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Zombie Porn writes and regarding kind of funny and night Rain,
<v Speaker 1>Oh didn't they have a community member on their team?
<v Speaker 1>Bringing in a ringer makes that one.
<v Speaker 2>Also, it's like they won some made up competition, Like
<v Speaker 2>we didn't play against them in night Rain. We played
<v Speaker 2>Night Rain at the same time. Come on, that's that's nothing.
<v Speaker 2>That's not a real video game.
<v Speaker 1>Come on, greb, this is a side hustle here. Everyone
<v Speaker 1>listening right now, stop listening. Wasn't that technically baby steps?
<v Speaker 1>We just made up a competition?
<v Speaker 4>Oh that's just matter.
<v Speaker 2>That's I'm good at doing that.
<v Speaker 3>So bringing in a ringer like that, though, is There's
<v Speaker 3>not much more disrespect you could bring to healthy competition
<v Speaker 3>than bring in a ringer.
<v Speaker 2>That's like such a disrespect.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>We we brought in a friend, pug Tato right to
<v Speaker 2>help with when they did the in person thing for
<v Speaker 2>Pizza band This is fine. But he's not a ringer, right,
<v Speaker 2>He's just he's just another guy. He's from the community,
<v Speaker 2>but he's a pizza bandit X.
<v Speaker 3>We needed, we needed another team member and we we
<v Speaker 3>we got him.
<v Speaker 1>You know, he rose to the call.
<v Speaker 3>Wasn't there with any nefarious insider information?
<v Speaker 2>Here's kind of funfariousness. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, here's my pitch. I think we should just be
<v Speaker 1>the superpowers all Lah Hulk Holgan, Fuck Hulk Houlgan, uh
<v Speaker 1>and Macho Man Randy Savage. Where we unite against everyone else.
<v Speaker 1>Imagine the unbridled powers of kind of Funny and Giant
<v Speaker 1>Bomb teaming up against all the other video games media
<v Speaker 1>out there. No one would stand a chance.
<v Speaker 2>We take on all comers. Yeah, open challenge, okay, mega powers,
<v Speaker 2>Mega Power sorry sorry sorry?
<v Speaker 1>Uh. Like imagine four of us, the combination of perhaps
<v Speaker 1>snow Bike Mike, Andy Cortez, myself, Mike Manatti playing deadlock
<v Speaker 1>against It doesn't matter who were against, frankly because they lose. Yeah, alright,
<v Speaker 1>o poplond twenty three. I'm probably late, but a few
<v Speaker 1>bombcasts ago Jan asked for Mugenics with Rabbits, what about
<v Speaker 1>Mario Rabbits, Kingdom Battle and Sparks of Hope. I liked
<v Speaker 1>those games. Those games are fun. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I never really played the second one at all, and
<v Speaker 2>I should I own it?
<v Speaker 1>Uh Rio Roku Backlar, who's on your mount rushmore of
<v Speaker 1>two thousand's emo and or pop punk bands from New Jersey?
<v Speaker 3>Which is like the easiest and hardest question. All right,
<v Speaker 3>we're talking two thousand's. Uh we're gonna say, well, I
<v Speaker 3>think the email of Okay, we're gonna do just to
<v Speaker 3>get it out of the way, MCR. We'll just put
<v Speaker 3>him on their New Jersey's own summit, New Jersey's own hardway, fine,
<v Speaker 3>solidified on the on the mountain, Let's do the get
<v Speaker 3>up kids, Let's do Thursday, and finally number one by
<v Speaker 3>a country mile. No one comes close to this band.
<v Speaker 3>I've never heard of a band more referred to, more thanked,
<v Speaker 3>more referenced, and I feel like their credibility continues to
<v Speaker 3>rise year after year after year, especially with like the
<v Speaker 3>renaissance of what feels like the next kind of pop
<v Speaker 3>punk maybe emo Little Aftershock that we're currently in right now,
<v Speaker 3>and that by gentlemen John bonj No, that band is
<v Speaker 3>saves the day.
<v Speaker 1>Ah saves the day, saves the day.
<v Speaker 3>No one comes close without saves the day. There's probably
<v Speaker 3>uh no fallout boy, there's probably no suicide.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, no ti ight suicide.
<v Speaker 3>Well that goes without saying. Saves the day is so underappreciated.
<v Speaker 3>I think now it's they're finally getting their flowers. But
<v Speaker 3>uh yeah, I mean nothing, nothing comes close to saves today.
<v Speaker 3>A truly iconic instrumental band in that scene from the
<v Speaker 3>Great State of Injurers.
<v Speaker 1>There you go. That does it for YouTube super chats.
<v Speaker 1>Thank you for everyone for sending those in, and thank
<v Speaker 1>you everyone for emailing the show once again. That's bombcasta

<v Speaker 1>up the week, mister Minatti is going to do a
<v Speaker 1>long launch stream of Resident Evil Requiem. If you're too scared,
<v Speaker 1>Jeff Beckler, you're raising your hands, sir.
<v Speaker 3>Yes, I'm sorry. I have to call in with an
<v Speaker 3>instant correction. I don't know why my brain farted like this.
<v Speaker 3>The Get Up Kids are not from New Jersey. They're
<v Speaker 3>from the Midwest, I believe, Missura.
<v Speaker 2>I'm maybe West is the New Jersey of America.
<v Speaker 3>So in their place I would like to insert the
<v Speaker 3>band Lifetime.

<v Speaker 3>EMO people who who were banging their heads against their
<v Speaker 3>walls with my blasphemous statement.
<v Speaker 2>You made them feel rage, which is an emotion, So
<v Speaker 2>they're grateful to.
<v Speaker 1>You, which is what EMO is built out of. This
<v Speaker 1>is at what it's built on, absolutely misplaced rage. There
