<v Speaker 1>Hey, everybody, welcome to Game Best Mornings with Me Jeff Grub, <v Speaker 1>your host from giant bomb dot com. Thank you for <v Speaker 1>tuning in. In this episode, we're gonna be talking about <v Speaker 1>Switch two's huge game breaking records and an expensive Xbox <v Speaker 1>game is gonna get a little bit cheaper. It's gonna <v Speaker 1>be a good one because we have Jason Finelli on <v Speaker 1>the show. Jason, how are you doing? <v Speaker 2>Or the interruption? I'm Jason Finelli? Did you jewry model? <v Speaker 2>Did you renovating? <v Speaker 3>Here? You going on? <v Speaker 1>We knew you were coming over, so we just spoos <v Speaker 1>to place up a little bit, you. <v Speaker 2>Know, Yeah, looks it looks wonderful. Shout out to the <v Speaker 2>artist whose name? <v Speaker 1>Oh god, jet packs and yeah, and a bunch of <v Speaker 1>other names and there. I also always forget because it's like, <v Speaker 1>what is jet packs? And what? Jan? Do you remember? <v Speaker 1>Jed packs and roller skates? Thank you, Jan, jet packs <v Speaker 1>and roller skates. There we go. <v Speaker 3>Sounds like a platformer exactly right. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, And I'm like, it's jet packs and then another <v Speaker 1>thing from the you know, seventies, eighties, and I what <v Speaker 1>is it? And then I always blank. Jet Packs and <v Speaker 1>roller skates has done excellent work. It was really great <v Speaker 1>working with them, and the show looks great. <v Speaker 3>So yeah, we're going to yeah shutting. <v Speaker 1>Them, settle in here and kind of get where I'm <v Speaker 1>breaking the new set, the new virtual set for everybody. Uh. Yeah, Jason, <v Speaker 1>how you been? <v Speaker 2>Things are good? You know, just get doing some doing <v Speaker 2>the work. The Pokemon presents yesterday. Uh, it's pretty pretty <v Speaker 2>interesting when you're highly touted for a month and a <v Speaker 2>half live stream. <v Speaker 3>Uh. <v Speaker 2>People get most excited for the hour long DJ Pikachu <v Speaker 2>pre show. <v Speaker 3>Uh. <v Speaker 2>Someone needs to teach Pokemon Company specifically about the art <v Speaker 2>of one more thing. Uh, because if I'm watching that, <v Speaker 2>the messages themselves, like the the the news itself, there's <v Speaker 2>some neat stuff in there. Pokemon Friends seems like it's <v Speaker 2>a cool puzzle game. Pokemon Champions looks interesting. Any update <v Speaker 2>about Za is nice. It's just when you when you <v Speaker 2>take this and you announce it a month ago and <v Speaker 2>you let that hype build. It reminds me of Smash <v Speaker 2>Brothers DLC the first pack, the last character being Bileth <v Speaker 2>from fire Emblem, and everyone was like, no, that can't <v Speaker 2>be the last one. That should have been the middle one. <v Speaker 2>And then you get you have to bookend to these things. <v Speaker 2>But Nintendo, they finally learned. Pokemon Company still needs to <v Speaker 2>figure that out. Unless they're playing the long game and <v Speaker 2>they're saving stuff for worlds in the middle of August, <v Speaker 2>maybe remains to be seen. But uh yeah, that was fine. <v Speaker 2>Covered that over a spot that seemed okay. I got <v Speaker 2>EVO coming up next week, looking very much forward to <v Speaker 2>watching that. Still undetermined as to whether that'll be in <v Speaker 2>the room or in this room more than looking more <v Speaker 2>and more likely like this room. But hey, we'll have <v Speaker 2>fun either way. Lots of fighting games to talk about. <v Speaker 2>We're gonna get into EVO a little bit later on <v Speaker 2>in the show, I believe. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's right, we got some some news that has <v Speaker 1>to do with EVO for sure. <v Speaker 2>Uh. <v Speaker 1>In the meantime, though, yeah, I think I'm with you <v Speaker 1>on the Pokemon where like they need to Uh, they <v Speaker 1>probably are saving stuff because they always do saved stuff <v Speaker 1>at this time here, they don't show it all in <v Speaker 1>this moment at this Pokemon presents so they got they <v Speaker 1>got to learn presentation rules and stuff like that. The <v Speaker 1>big thing for me, why I announce it for a <v Speaker 1>month and a half ahead of time. I want to <v Speaker 1>just know tomorrow. We're having a small little thing exactly <v Speaker 1>tom I guess. I guess they want the hype because <v Speaker 1>they want people watching, because that probably does benefit them, <v Speaker 1>But that I don't know, boy christ Wolf sort of situation. <v Speaker 1>People might not want to spin into the next one <v Speaker 1>if you keep burning them like this and feel like <v Speaker 1>you know, people don't want to feel like they're times <v Speaker 1>being wasted. Yeah, we'll get that Pokemon game later this year. <v Speaker 1>I'm still looking forward to it though. All right, let's <v Speaker 1>explain what we do here and ourselves. You <v Speaker 1>can also catch the show later with chapters and timestamps <v Speaker 1>on YouTube. Hello YouTube. All right, we have a lot <v Speaker 1>to get into, so let's start the morning mess with <v Speaker 1>June twenty twenty five US video game market highlights from Sircana. <v Speaker 1>This is from Matt Piscatella. Nintendo switched to debuted as <v Speaker 1>the fastest selling video game hardware device in the US <v Speaker 1>in US history, while consumer spending in both video game <v Speaker 1>hardware and accessories reached new all time June records. There <v Speaker 1>are some numbers here just to give you some comparison points. <v Speaker 1>In June twenty twenty four, total video game sales and <v Speaker 1>this is a projected number that brings in everything, but <v Speaker 1>that was up twenty two percent to five point seven <v Speaker 1>as that yet, that's billion dollars five point seven billion dollars, <v Speaker 1>and then see video game content was up six percent, <v Speaker 1>video game hardware up two hundred and forty nine percent. <v Speaker 1>By yeah, usually June's gonna be a little bit slower anyhow. <v Speaker 1>Then this year you have a new WHICH two that <v Speaker 1>combines to get you almost two eight billion dollars in hardware, <v Speaker 1>So it's nine hundred and seventy eight million compared to <v Speaker 1>two hundred and eighty million last year. Video Game accessories <v Speaker 1>were also up twenty nine percent. Let's see here. The <v Speaker 1>best selling game of the month, though, was elden Ring <v Speaker 1>Night Rain. Still, that's two months in a row where <v Speaker 1>I topped the list did very well. Death Stranding two <v Speaker 1>on the Beach was number two, and Mario Kart World, <v Speaker 1>which doesn't include digital and does not include the bundled copies, <v Speaker 1>was at number three, and then Call of Duty Black <v Speaker 1>Ops six at number four, and Stellar Blade at number <v Speaker 1>five that launched on PC. Right, and that so I <v Speaker 1>jumped up to number five after being one eighty five <v Speaker 1>last month. How do you read these early this information <v Speaker 1>so far? <v Speaker 2>A couple of things. I'm assuming that if you included <v Speaker 2>bundles and digital, Mario Kart World would shoot up that list, <v Speaker 2>I because you know, many people bought it with the <v Speaker 2>console and the fact that that's not included. I get it, <v Speaker 2>but also it's kind of weird. Also, it's weird to <v Speaker 2>see that this is like the record for June. You <v Speaker 2>always associate this. I always associate June with video games, <v Speaker 2>but for announcements like that's where E three was, that's <v Speaker 2>where SGF is now, and that doesn't necessarily translate to sales. <v Speaker 2>So to see that now this being a record month <v Speaker 2>for gaming in the month that I normally associate. <v Speaker 3>With, it pretty neat. <v Speaker 2>I like seeing you can always tell when games launch <v Speaker 2>on different platforms, because, like you said, Stellar Blade at <v Speaker 2>one eighty five, it was one eighty five. Now five <v Speaker 2>further down the list, Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven, eighteenth for <v Speaker 2>the month was four hundred and twenty seventh. So switch <v Speaker 2>to alone. I'm assuming bump that guy up pretty far. <v Speaker 2>One you have to be impressed with, not necessarily surprised, <v Speaker 2>but impressed with is Death Straining two because you figure <v Speaker 2>that came out June twenty seventh, right, that was that <v Speaker 2>June twenty eighth, something like that, and. <v Speaker 1>Then last week of the month for sure. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, yep. <v Speaker 2>And this only goes to July fifth, so in a <v Speaker 2>week it became second for the entire month. That's pretty impressive. <v Speaker 2>That's Hideo fans coming out in droves as you would expect, right. <v Speaker 1>And it's also exclusive, right, so it's one platform and <v Speaker 1>night Rain is everywhere, and it's Elder Rings, so it's <v Speaker 1>just yeah, and we know that game's doing very well, but. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, go ahead, yeah, yeah. So those are the things <v Speaker 2>that really stick out to me. Also the video game hardware, <v Speaker 2>that's just what happens. Two hundred and fifty percent increase <v Speaker 2>when you launch a console, the fastest selling console ever. <v Speaker 2>That doesn't surprise me. I knew that Nintendo fans would <v Speaker 2>come out in droves. I think, honestly, if you're going <v Speaker 2>to look at it from trying to find a surprising angle, <v Speaker 2>it's that with all the tumult and all the nonsense <v Speaker 2>that was happening leading up to Switches launch, that there <v Speaker 2>were enough consoles for it to be the fastest selling <v Speaker 2>video game hardware of all time. <v Speaker 1>Right, yeah, I think this is the conversation, right. I <v Speaker 1>think Mapus Kutel gave a quote to ig and I <v Speaker 1>think where he said like, hey, yeah, this tells us <v Speaker 1>he said this on launch day. Well, he says, this <v Speaker 1>tells us they made a lot of switch toes, and <v Speaker 1>that's what we know for sure here. And then he <v Speaker 1>was asked by some people, oh, can we say officially <v Speaker 1>now that the switch to was priced correctly, that it <v Speaker 1>was not overpriced and people did show up for it. <v Speaker 1>He's like, look, the people who show up now are <v Speaker 1>the least price sensitive. They are the biggest enthusiast, the <v Speaker 1>ones that will show up. But it clearly has pass <v Speaker 1>this first test. It did get past this, Like, yeah, <v Speaker 1>the people that are the least price sensitive were not <v Speaker 1>sensitive to this price. He points out that the next <v Speaker 1>test will be the holiday, and we will see at <v Speaker 1>that point where will the average consumer not just be like, oh, <v Speaker 1>I'm going to pay five hundred dollars for this bundle. <v Speaker 1>The Mario Kart bundle apparently gonna be gone by then <v Speaker 1>and in place with the Pokemon bundle, although I'm sure <v Speaker 1>that audience will be fine with that as well, But like, <v Speaker 1>you know, am I willing to pay that much money <v Speaker 1>and then do the work to track one of these down? <v Speaker 1>Or while I use the price as an excuse to <v Speaker 1>be like, I'll just wait until later. So yeah, it's <v Speaker 1>got another test coming, but so far it has passed <v Speaker 1>this early one and sold very well. <v Speaker 2>And if I had to predict, it's going to pass <v Speaker 2>the next one. I'm assuming that there were some Pokemon <v Speaker 2>fans who were waiting for Za to see if they <v Speaker 2>were waiting for it to get closer with the switch <v Speaker 2>to edition, now they can just buy the console with <v Speaker 2>the game problem solved, So I expect it's going to <v Speaker 2>have a huge holiday as well from the people who <v Speaker 2>were waiting anyway, and now the extra Like I have <v Speaker 2>a group chat that we just talk about video games, <v Speaker 2>and one of my guys was like, I'm going to <v Speaker 2>wait to see what this Pokemon Presents brings out before <v Speaker 2>I decide on switch too. There's the console he's in. <v Speaker 2>He's waiting till October. I expect he's not the only <v Speaker 2>one to do that, so I yeah, don't be surprised <v Speaker 2>if we're talking about the fastest six months in history <v Speaker 2>once all is said and done in twenty twenty five. <v Speaker 2>You like to see it. You like to see that <v Speaker 2>people came out for it. You like to see that <v Speaker 2>the sales were good and the stock was good, especially <v Speaker 2>considering you know everything. So let's see if that holds. <v Speaker 2>Let's see if future reports keep those things going up. <v Speaker 2>And I look forward to next months when Donkey Kong Bonanza, <v Speaker 2>he takes number one from Elden Ring as is deserved. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, we got so as part of the new redesign, <v Speaker 1>we got another thing that it'll be a little surprised <v Speaker 1>on Friday, everybody, I'll play you what it's called, and <v Speaker 1>you guys might be able to piece together. It's called <v Speaker 1>the Bomb twelve and we'll debut that on Friday, and <v Speaker 1>we should tune in and it's going to be a <v Speaker 1>weekly thing. And because of that, I've been kind of <v Speaker 1>like asking people why I have put a forum a <v Speaker 1>Google form up and said, hey, what are you playing <v Speaker 1>right now? Or what is your game right now? And <v Speaker 1>so it's interesting to be able to get like just <v Speaker 1>an insight of like, oh, yeah, that's my audience. I <v Speaker 1>get that, but I am curious about that. I got <v Speaker 1>a lot of respons's, like more than a thousand so far. <v Speaker 1>And the list once you get to the d and <v Speaker 1>it starts with Donkey Kong, it just you scroll and <v Speaker 1>scroll and scroll, and so many people are playing Donkey Kong. <v Speaker 1>It is is a lot a lot of people playing <v Speaker 1>dest Training too as well. Cool, so it's like okay, yeah, <v Speaker 1>but like a ton of people are playing Donkey Kong, <v Speaker 1>and I just feel like that is the game where <v Speaker 1>it's like, Okay, I bought this system, There's no why <v Speaker 1>would I have spent all this money and not get <v Speaker 1>that game. So it's just gonna be such a no <v Speaker 1>brainer for so many people. It feels like, honestly, a <v Speaker 1>really well designed launch window right where it's like, hey, <v Speaker 1>we got the launch with Mario Kart. We're gonna Donkey <v Speaker 1>Kong in the next month, and then there's other stuff happening, <v Speaker 1>and then later we're gonna swap out the Mario Kart Bundle, <v Speaker 1>which is the thing I alluded to earlier. They're gonna <v Speaker 1>they said they said earlier that that was a limited <v Speaker 1>time thing, although I expected to be back every year <v Speaker 1>for the rest of this sus life. The way the <v Speaker 1>Mario Kart Bundle was for Switch one, but they're going <v Speaker 1>to replace it with the Pokemon Bundle, And that is <v Speaker 1>such a just like one two punch slam dunk that <v Speaker 1>you were like, you were saying, like, if you weren't <v Speaker 1>hit by Mario Kart, you're probably gonna get hit by <v Speaker 1>Pokemon if you're someone who's already thinking about a switch <v Speaker 1>to for sure. So yeah, just from a strategic point <v Speaker 1>of view, I think this launch has gone really well <v Speaker 1>for a Nintendo Yep. <v Speaker 2>You really can't ask for much more. They planned it right, <v Speaker 2>they did it right, they put everything out the way <v Speaker 2>they needed to. And again, the most important thing I <v Speaker 2>keep coming back to it the stock was there. That <v Speaker 2>all those shipping issues that we were worried about, clearly <v Speaker 2>they were prepared for uh and the numbers prove that. <v Speaker 2>So if they can keep that going and keep the <v Speaker 2>stock flowing without raising prices or anything like that, I <v Speaker 2>think we'll I think we'll be talking about this as <v Speaker 2>one of the better launch strategies, if not one of <v Speaker 2>the best in gaming history. <v Speaker 1>Let's see here, let's read some of these other details <v Speaker 1>from Matt. June hardware spending increased by that two hundred <v Speaker 1>and forty nine percent one compared to a year ago. <v Speaker 1>This is a record high for hardware spending in a <v Speaker 1>June month, surpassing the six hundred and eight million reached <v Speaker 1>in June two thousand and eight. It was June was <v Speaker 1>something specific happened in June two thousand and eight. I'm <v Speaker 1>trying to remember. I guess that was early in like <v Speaker 1>Xbox three sixty right, and that. <v Speaker 2>Would have been PlayStation three. Did one look your Solid <v Speaker 2>four come out in June two thousand and eight. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, it was like, it's a meddle your Solid four? <v Speaker 1>Is it? Is it a Gears of War or something <v Speaker 1>like that? I guess could be a big WEI title. <v Speaker 1>I don't know. <v Speaker 3>I'm pretty sure it's metal. <v Speaker 1>Your Solid four hardware going continue with hardware here and <v Speaker 1>Nintendo Switch to sold one point six million units in June, <v Speaker 1>the highest launch month unit sales for Nintendo for video <v Speaker 1>game hardware and US history. The previous high was one <v Speaker 1>point one million units of the PlayStation four sold during <v Speaker 1>November twenty thirteen. I think Matt has to get permission <v Speaker 1>from Nintendo to say that number, So Nintendo has I <v Speaker 1>think I do expl I think I think that's how <v Speaker 1>it works, because I don't think he's been able to <v Speaker 1>share these exact numbers for quite some time unless he <v Speaker 1>gets explicit permission from the company. So Nintendo must have <v Speaker 1>been like, yeah, you go ahead and say that, Although <v Speaker 1>usually the usually they'd want to trumpet that themselves. I <v Speaker 1>think maybe I'm wrong about that, but I don't remember <v Speaker 1>him being able to share exact numbers for quite some time. <v Speaker 1>Nintendo switched to was June's best selling video game hardware <v Speaker 1>and both unit and dollar sales well. Polase Station five <v Speaker 1>remained the best seller year to date across both measures <v Speaker 1>for content. June video game content spending grew by six <v Speaker 1>percent when compared to a year ago to four point <v Speaker 1>four billion dollars. Let's see here. They also mentioned non <v Speaker 1>mobile video game subscription spending increased by thirty two percent <v Speaker 1>compared to June twenty twenty four to five hundre and <v Speaker 1>sixty two million dollars. This is in all time high <v Speaker 1>for a single month. One of the parts of this, Jason, <v Speaker 1>is that spending on Star Wars the Old Republic really <v Speaker 1>increased quite a bit as part of that recent surge <v Speaker 1>in like interest in Star Wars because of the Revenge <v Speaker 1>of the Sith twentieth anniversary screening and or and Star <v Speaker 1>Wars Battlefront two. It seems it sounds like people went <v Speaker 1>to Star Wars Battlefront two and then maybe got their <v Speaker 1>crew together now, like, hey, let's go play Star Wars <v Speaker 1>The Old Republic as well. <v Speaker 2>I think that's what's happening here that is interesting. You'd <v Speaker 2>beisoft probably like, well, where are all the people that <v Speaker 2>where all these people? Why aren't they playing Outlaws? Because <v Speaker 2>Star Wars was a rocky ip when that game came out, Remember, Wow, <v Speaker 2>who'd have thought? But yeah, that's interesting. I had not considered, <v Speaker 2>and I went and also too if if you want <v Speaker 2>to include Fortnite in that as well. <v Speaker 1>Fortnite all of Julist points right, yes, that that moment <v Speaker 1>and that season ended right as all this stuff started <v Speaker 1>picking up, So really good point. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, so that that could be it as well too, man, <v Speaker 2>But just seeing that being an all time high for <v Speaker 2>a single month. I like it for those games, but <v Speaker 2>I'm not sure I like it for the rest of <v Speaker 2>the industry. You know, I'm saying fewer and more people <v Speaker 2>pushing to that model, and unfortunately, as we have learned <v Speaker 2>many many times, only the ones at the top of <v Speaker 2>the chain are going to stay there. It's very, very <v Speaker 2>very hard to break in. So I would love to <v Speaker 2>know the split of that five hundred and sixty two <v Speaker 2>and how what games are getting how much of it, <v Speaker 2>just to see how dominant some of those games could <v Speaker 2>be great to see Old Republic get that surge though. <v Speaker 2>That game, it's really the game that could. <v Speaker 3>Man. It just sticks around, It just sticks. <v Speaker 2>Around the periphery, and then every once in a while <v Speaker 2>something like this happens and it comes back or where <v Speaker 2>a news headline hits for it, and it's just I mean, <v Speaker 2>good for them, good for good for BioWare for keeping <v Speaker 2>it up for this long, especially in the situation that <v Speaker 2>they find themselves in regularly. <v Speaker 3>At ea, you love to see that. So cool. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, this is I could definitely see Star Wars playing <v Speaker 2>a big part in this in multiple games, with Old <v Speaker 2>Republic being the most notable one with its huge search. <v Speaker 1>Yep. Absolutely, Like I guess for license games overall, where <v Speaker 1>do you think big licenses are actu it? It feels <v Speaker 1>like we're at a you know, one of my favorite <v Speaker 1>phrases low Tide with this, where it's just like, you know, <v Speaker 1>there was a moment a couple of years ago where <v Speaker 1>these companies were all saying these are the safe bets <v Speaker 1>compared to trying to make our own stuff. And I <v Speaker 1>don't think that really paid off for anyone that got <v Speaker 1>a big license for the most part, except for Warner Brothers, <v Speaker 1>who already has the Harry Potter license. So Hogwarts legacy <v Speaker 1>worked really well for them, but they're not a lot <v Speaker 1>of other examples of that. But Star Wars does seem <v Speaker 1>to be on an upswing. But if you were in <v Speaker 1>charge of one of these companies, would you take that <v Speaker 1>as a sign of like, Okay, no, you know, let's <v Speaker 1>get back into that game. Let's go spend one hundred <v Speaker 1>million dollar licensing fee or whatever and take another risk <v Speaker 1>on that. Or is this sort of like a momentary <v Speaker 1>floating situation for this franchise where people are like, I <v Speaker 1>already own these games, I'm gonna go back to them. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I think it's more that just oh man, I <v Speaker 2>watched and do I really want to play Old Republic again? <v Speaker 2>Let's re up for a month and just see what's <v Speaker 2>going on in that game. As far as licensed games go, <v Speaker 2>I think your better option right now is lower budget, <v Speaker 2>perhaps nostalgic ips that you make a game for Let's <v Speaker 2>talk about Saber. Yes, yesterday releasing hell Raiser first person <v Speaker 2>survival horror in that world, the first ever hell Raiser <v Speaker 2>video game? <v Speaker 3>Did I read that right? <v Speaker 1>And never remember hell? I remember Friday the thirteenth, or <v Speaker 1>whatever on. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, yes, and Night Mary on ELM Street as well. <v Speaker 2>But I don't know the hell Raiser ever got one, <v Speaker 2>which I guess makes sense considering the subject matter. But <v Speaker 2>that's the kind of thing I think you need to <v Speaker 2>do if you're doing licensing. Find those licenses of maybe <v Speaker 2>dormant you know, movie or TV ips, maybe books, book <v Speaker 2>eyps that haven't really been explored before, and try and <v Speaker 2>craft a game out of that in a genre that <v Speaker 2>it fits in. Like I always hear Brandon say Anderson <v Speaker 2>should should should make games out of his books, right. <v Speaker 2>Stuff like that I think is better for licensing as <v Speaker 2>far as top licenses Marvel Star Wars, as you said, DC, <v Speaker 2>which WB already has, Harry Potter, which DC already has, <v Speaker 2>I mean, i WB already has I. Unless you have <v Speaker 2>a sure fire idea that you know, yeah, that and <v Speaker 2>will be cheap, relatively cheap to develop and quick to develop, <v Speaker 2>I don't think anybody should take that plunge right now, though. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean, I don't know. I want to go <v Speaker 1>in this tangent real quick with you. I was thinking, <v Speaker 1>lets you, yeah, about the Ubisoft stuff recently, of the <v Speaker 1>micro transaction thing that they had. I haven't done a <v Speaker 1>story on this. I was going to, but I'm like, ah, <v Speaker 1>it doesn't feel like there was much there. And I <v Speaker 1>was thinking about it last night, and basically they said <v Speaker 1>people like micro transactions cause it's fun and they can <v Speaker 1>beat the game faster, and I'm like, oh, no, I <v Speaker 1>think this is the exact thing that has poisoned people <v Speaker 1>against you, be Soft, is that when they buy the game, <v Speaker 1>they know all even if you don't look at the <v Speaker 1>list of micro transactions, even if you don't like look <v Speaker 1>at like the boosters or whatever, you completely ignore them, <v Speaker 1>you know that they're there, and you know that there's <v Speaker 1>a chance, and we know it's like it's much less <v Speaker 1>of a chance and very like a likely possibility that <v Speaker 1>they design the game around the idea of maybe just <v Speaker 1>nudging you towards using an XP booster or something like that. <v Speaker 1>And people don't want to feel that way when they <v Speaker 1>buy their game, Like they look at all the games <v Speaker 1>that have popped off in like the last year, and <v Speaker 1>then also like Ubisoft that doesn't their games don't feel <v Speaker 1>special in a lot of other ways. So if I'm <v Speaker 1>like looking at at Claire Obscure Expedition thirty three versus <v Speaker 1>Assassin's Creed Shadows, and I'm like, I got to spend <v Speaker 1>my money somewhere. Well, I know my money's going to <v Speaker 1>go all the way to the end of what Claire <v Speaker 1>Obscure can provide for me. And if they have a <v Speaker 1>FDLC down the line, that's fine, that's one thing. But <v Speaker 1>right now it's like that I know I'm going to <v Speaker 1>get everything. It just feels like my money is working <v Speaker 1>for me better. In that situation. People just don't trust <v Speaker 1>you be soft anymore. And I think it's I think <v Speaker 1>it's all about the micro transactions. I think there was <v Speaker 1>a time where we were like I was like, let's <v Speaker 1>you know, people seem to spend money on micro transactions. <v Speaker 1>I guess we should. You know, as consumers, we have <v Speaker 1>to just like look at that and say, hey, this <v Speaker 1>is we do. We keep doing this, we keep spending <v Speaker 1>that money. But so these companies must be right. If <v Speaker 1>if we're going to put this stuff out and then <v Speaker 1>we buy it and they make a lot of money, <v Speaker 1>they must be right. And it's like, I I think <v Speaker 1>a lot of people at the same time, while I <v Speaker 1>was thinking that, we're saying, yeah, but I'm just not <v Speaker 1>going to go get UBI soft games anymore or other <v Speaker 1>games that are that are like this, and that has <v Speaker 1>sort of grown to be enough of a problem that <v Speaker 1>I think it has. It has hollowed out what Ubisoft <v Speaker 1>offers and there's maybe no coming back from it unless <v Speaker 1>they completely change their tune and they're just singing the <v Speaker 1>same tune. So I don't know, does that sound right <v Speaker 1>to you? <v Speaker 3>Yeah? <v Speaker 2>It does, because I'm going to quote the great George <v Speaker 2>Carlin here. People like their bullshit out front where they <v Speaker 2>can get a good, strong whiff of it. If Ubisoft <v Speaker 2>is doing this subtle, like hey, you should get the <v Speaker 2>XP booster, people are gonna sniff that out immediately and <v Speaker 2>they're gonna call that bullshit out. Meanwhile, talk to a <v Speaker 2>sports player right who's been playing Ultimate Team for years, <v Speaker 2>and they're like, the first time you've been dealing with <v Speaker 2>this shit. So but they know what's coming. They know that, <v Speaker 2>they know that they can if they're gonna play Ultimate Team, <v Speaker 2>they're gonna be picking up their wallets just as much <v Speaker 2>asy're picking up the damn controller. They know that's gonna happen. <v Speaker 2>Trying to hide it and be sneaky about it and <v Speaker 2>stealthy is not working. So people are going to lose <v Speaker 2>trust in you, and then UBI soft is going to <v Speaker 2>turn into what it turns into. Ubisoft always had people <v Speaker 2>at arms length, even with their most popular games, because <v Speaker 2>of what they called the ubi soft map, right, all <v Speaker 2>these different things, all these different like towers to unlock <v Speaker 2>more than map, a bit of a paralysis of indecision <v Speaker 2>because there's so much shit to do, you don't know <v Speaker 2>what exactly what to do, and that then saying well <v Speaker 2>you want to get past that, here's the XP booster <v Speaker 2>to make it faster. It's slimy, and people can sniff <v Speaker 2>that shit out a mile away and they're not gonna <v Speaker 2>play your games anymore. And then you find yourself in <v Speaker 2>a situation where a company like you be solved, which <v Speaker 2>if I had said what I'm about to say fifteen <v Speaker 2>years ago, you would have laughed in my face. Has <v Speaker 2>nothing on the table. There's nothing coming from them right <v Speaker 2>now that we know about. There's rumors, there's speculation there <v Speaker 2>may be an announced thing. I'm forgetting, but the fact <v Speaker 2>that I have am having trouble remembering what u be <v Speaker 2>Soft is coming out with says it all. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, you know. Assassin's Creed Shadows number three best selling <v Speaker 1>game of the year so far. Yeah, I recognize that, <v Speaker 1>but it's that's Assassin's Creed, And that seems like the <v Speaker 1>best case scenario of they did the break Glass in <v Speaker 1>case emergency, we're going to Japan. We we're gonna try <v Speaker 1>and like spend a lot of time on this one, <v Speaker 1>make it really good. They did. It feels like this <v Speaker 1>is the ceiling for it, and it's a high ceiling <v Speaker 1>it is. But I just don't I think it's replicable <v Speaker 1>with like, Okay, so now go do that with the <v Speaker 1>next Rainbow six. With the next Rainbow six, that's gonna <v Speaker 1>be such a challenge. What are you talking about the <v Speaker 1>next far Cry? Are you really going to take the <v Speaker 1>time to like rework what those games are, because you <v Speaker 1>haven't done that so far, and that seems like a <v Speaker 1>big challenge in and of itself. And so it's like, <v Speaker 1>are you just gonna keep putting out the same thing <v Speaker 1>there and hope to make more money on the back <v Speaker 1>end with micro transactions? Yet again, probably, and I just <v Speaker 1>think we will see diminishing returns. There is a slow <v Speaker 1>erosion of these games, is what we're actually witnessing. <v Speaker 2>There's another thing too, Ghost Beach games. In chat giant <v Speaker 2>bomb dot com slast check go check it out. That <v Speaker 2>makes a great point here. The phrase micro transactions is <v Speaker 2>no longer valid either. We used to call it that <v Speaker 2>when they were nine to nine cents to two ninety nine. <v Speaker 2>As they write these we're talking about twenty dollars things. <v Speaker 2>Now they're just transactions. There are extra transactions at this point, which. <v Speaker 1>Is maxi maxi transactions. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, x transactions. <v Speaker 1>All right, let's see here, anything else, man, the macro <v Speaker 1>economy of Ubisoft Games eighty two Nintendo Switch to buyers <v Speaker 1>during June, also acquired Mario Kart World one way or <v Speaker 1>the others. So pretty high install our attach rate. Although <v Speaker 1>remember when Breath of the While was like one hundred <v Speaker 1>and two percent attach rate to the switch or something <v Speaker 1>like that. It's like people were buying digital and physical. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, or somebody bought the physical copy and then painted <v Speaker 2>it and tried to put it in the switch and <v Speaker 2>broke the switch for some reason, so they had to <v Speaker 2>get another. Oh sorry, that was Bonanza that idio. <v Speaker 1>Sorry, let's see Stellar Blade jumped. We talked about that <v Speaker 1>and then yeah, all right, yeah, so a good month. <v Speaker 1>Let's see if Nintendo can keep its momentum. Very likely <v Speaker 1>we'll be able to. I'm interested to see like what <v Speaker 1>the rest of the year goes like for the other <v Speaker 1>consoles and other game cells. But it sounds like right <v Speaker 1>now switch to set up for success through the rest <v Speaker 1>of twenty twenty five. All right, we're gonna take a break. <v Speaker 1>When we come back, plenty more headlines to get to, <v Speaker 1>including the biggest PlayStation game of the year being an <v Speaker 1>Xbox game. Talk about that after this. Now it's Games Mornings. I'm Jeff Greb. That's <v Speaker 1>Jason Finelli. Let's do this thing. The biggest PlayStation game <v Speaker 1>of twenty twenty five is a four year old former <v Speaker 1>Xbox exclusive. This is from John Walker at Kotaku. Microsoft's <v Speaker 1>push to separate the concept of Xbox games from the <v Speaker 1>Xbox console self has always felt a little annoying the <v Speaker 1>corporations this is an Xbox campaign has been more confusing <v Speaker 1>than anything else. However, the really significant aspect of this <v Speaker 1>detaching of the games from the machines is the releasing <v Speaker 1>of once Xbox exclusives onto Sony's consoles, and in the <v Speaker 1>case of flagship release Forts Horizon five, it's proven such <v Speaker 1>an enormous success the game has out sold everything else <v Speaker 1>released on the PS five this year. While we should <v Speaker 1>always take the industry analysis figures with a bucket of salt, <v Speaker 1>it's being reported by the al Nia Yeah Alanna Insight <v Speaker 1>newsletter thanks to you I Biz that Forts the Horizon five <v Speaker 1>has now sold over three million copies on the PS five, <v Speaker 1>pushing it ahead of Monster Hunter World and seeing it <v Speaker 1>out selling last year's PlayStation exclusive Astrobot in a third <v Speaker 1>of the time, and far ahead of one of this <v Speaker 1>year's big big PS five launches, Death Stranding two, although <v Speaker 1>that just got started. We'll see, we'll see what happens <v Speaker 1>with that. Yeah, okay, I think I was expecting Forts <v Speaker 1>Horizon five to do really well on PlayStation five. This <v Speaker 1>is like better than best case scenario. This is like, oh, <v Speaker 1>people were craving this, and I wonder if there was <v Speaker 1>like data like that. Microsoft looks set to understand that <v Speaker 1>there was a craziness, because I don't think that there <v Speaker 1>were a lot of PlayStation fans in the list war <v Speaker 1>conversations that happened on Twitter or whatever being like, well, <v Speaker 1>I hate your Xbox, but if that Ports Harison five <v Speaker 1>ever comes to PlayStation, I'm gonna play the fuck. <v Speaker 3>Out of that. <v Speaker 1>They don't, They don't talk that way, so, but it <v Speaker 1>certainly seems to be the case. And I guess it <v Speaker 1>makes sense. This is a game that you know, PlayStation <v Speaker 1>does not make in house. Xbox has made a big <v Speaker 1>deal about it. This game was like up for a <v Speaker 1>lot of Game of the Year considerations when it did <v Speaker 1>come out, and now it's reaping being able to reach <v Speaker 1>more players, right. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean not to get all like I don't <v Speaker 2>want to feed into the tribalist thing, but we have <v Speaker 2>to look at this from his perspective of sort of <v Speaker 2>like place. This is a company PlayStation with its own <v Speaker 2>premiere racing franchise, and x Xbox just came in and <v Speaker 2>drank your milkshake, drank it up, So like what what's <v Speaker 2>you have to look internally and be like, what the <v Speaker 2>hell's going on with Grand Tarisma? But more importantly, yes, <v Speaker 2>And I don't know if it's the fact that it's <v Speaker 2>a for as a game or the fact that, as <v Speaker 2>is being talked about in chat here, it's an arcade racer. <v Speaker 2>It's not a pure simulation. It's a little more, a <v Speaker 2>little more fun, a little more creativity to it. And <v Speaker 2>that might be what's what the PlayStation audience was craving. <v Speaker 2>I don't know what what. <v Speaker 1>I'm shaking my head at the chat. But what if <v Speaker 1>the cars were girls that you tuned up that race? <v Speaker 1>I think that's I don't know who did that. <v Speaker 2>A bunch of bunch of horse brained people in chat, <v Speaker 2>but but yeah, I I'm part of this might just <v Speaker 2>be and I have to remember this too. The the <v Speaker 2>list wars that you mentioned, the tribalist back and forth <v Speaker 2>is a vocal mind, very loud, vocal minority, but a <v Speaker 2>vocal minority nonetheless, and the casual fan or the term <v Speaker 2>non terminally online people were like, yo, fors Is, come <v Speaker 2>into PlayStation. I'm in and that's all it took. So <v Speaker 2>these are the people that I think are boosting these numbers, <v Speaker 2>the people that we don't really think about because they're <v Speaker 2>not in our faces every day telling us that the <v Speaker 2>other console sucks. <v Speaker 3>But I like it. <v Speaker 2>I like it for for Xbox. I don't know how <v Speaker 2>plate like, how does how does play station? How do <v Speaker 2>you think they feel about this? That's so it's it's <v Speaker 2>at first they're like, hey, we're driving more software on <v Speaker 2>our console. And on the other hand, it's like, but <v Speaker 2>it's not ours. Why what are we gonna do to <v Speaker 2>get people to buy our games instead or our racing games. <v Speaker 2>It's a weird situation that they find themselves in, which <v Speaker 2>may be put an Xbox A strategy right that might <v Speaker 2>be like, Hey, we're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna come <v Speaker 2>over to your house, we're gonna sit on your couch, <v Speaker 2>and you're not gonna do anything about it. You're gonna <v Speaker 2>give us a glass of lemonade. It's it's an interesting, <v Speaker 2>very really interesting thing after years of separation and silos <v Speaker 2>and console wars to see this like Salvo from Xbox. Now, <v Speaker 2>PlayStation's done a little bit too, But Xbox has definitely <v Speaker 2>led the challenge of we're gonna put our stuff on <v Speaker 2>your console and how do you like that? And so far, <v Speaker 2>Sony's like, sure, Now are they driving console sales? I <v Speaker 2>doubt it if they are. If they if they, if <v Speaker 2>Sony is seeing some data that maybe console sales are <v Speaker 2>going up, or like people are using this as an <v Speaker 2>excuse to try PlayStation with a game that they already know. Right, <v Speaker 2>it's probably not many people, but there might be out there. <v Speaker 3>I don't know. I uh, you stop talking about the car, Dame. <v Speaker 1>They're not gonna stop talking about the cars. Girls. They're <v Speaker 1>gonna just they're on their own. Now we have to <v Speaker 1>abandon them. What hast thou rought? It's gonna be rough now, <v Speaker 1>Chad is gonna be bad. So so yeah, I think <v Speaker 1>like the point about hey, why does PlayStation feel? I <v Speaker 1>think I think these companies operate a little bit like <v Speaker 1>the weather right, where it's like they sort of just <v Speaker 1>go where they go from a high pressure system to <v Speaker 1>a low pressure system, and then they fill in that gap. <v Speaker 1>And that's what Microsoft's doing. It's like the Xbox is <v Speaker 1>a high pressure system because there's just nothing left to <v Speaker 1>do there. It's tapped out and they have all this stuff, <v Speaker 1>and so they rush into a zone where there's low pressure, <v Speaker 1>which is the PlayStation five that doesn't have any of <v Speaker 1>these Xbox games, and now they're just it's storming into there. <v Speaker 1>And I think PlayStation's kind of like the same way, <v Speaker 1>but the opposite thing, where it's like, Okay, we have <v Speaker 1>a tapped out what we can make and now we've <v Speaker 1>established this really strong brand, this console that's sold very well. <v Speaker 1>How else can we make more money from this? Well, <v Speaker 1>someone else bring in their games here and selling a <v Speaker 1>ton and we get a thirty percent cut of that. <v Speaker 1>That's that's just good business. So I think because it <v Speaker 1>is benefiting both of them, I think both companies, just <v Speaker 1>like the weather, going to keep going in that direction <v Speaker 1>and they're not gonna be able to stop themselves. So <v Speaker 1>it's I think this is just the beginning of this <v Speaker 1>stuff kind of coming together and really lopping off the <v Speaker 1>console wars, which we already know are over, but I <v Speaker 1>mean this is going to morphin into whatever it looks <v Speaker 1>like in the future, and I think it's going to <v Speaker 1>be more like changing more than we were expecting in <v Speaker 1>terms of like the delineations between these companies or whatever. <v Speaker 1>But yeah, everyone involved, I think it's happy with this <v Speaker 1>because everyone's making more money and so yeah, we're going <v Speaker 1>to see a lot more of this. <v Speaker 2>I think the biggest tell as to whether or not <v Speaker 2>this one console future or one like companies sharing their ips, <v Speaker 2>as if Nintendo was ever forced to do it, right, Yeah, <v Speaker 2>that's to do it. That's a long way off shore. <v Speaker 3>But I think. <v Speaker 1>It's the rule a little bit right though, because it's like, yeah, <v Speaker 1>they're they're just of course they're going to keep being <v Speaker 1>their own thing. They worked really hard to do that <v Speaker 1>specifically to avoid this, and they push back against like <v Speaker 1>where the weather is going to take them like that. <v Speaker 1>They just they try to dictate things a little bit, <v Speaker 1>and that makes them a little bit different than these <v Speaker 1>other American or American behavior companies like Sony that are <v Speaker 1>going to just kind of be like, hey, this is <v Speaker 1>what makes more money. So we're gonna go with investor <v Speaker 1>what investors want right now, and we'll keep doing more <v Speaker 1>of that, see where it takes us, because this is <v Speaker 1>good for the next quarter as far as forts the <v Speaker 1>Horizon goes. Yeah, I think that we're going to point <v Speaker 1>now where the next game is on PlayStation three months later, <v Speaker 1>six months later, and then in a couple of years, <v Speaker 1>I think we get to a point where it's like, well, <v Speaker 1>these things just all launch them on both consoles at <v Speaker 1>the same time from Microsoft. Yep. <v Speaker 2>Now it also does sort of speak to why the <v Speaker 2>pure simulation fors was reportedly shelved. Right, If Microsoft sees <v Speaker 2>that there is an appetite for Horizon on its competitors console, <v Speaker 2>it does sort of make sense to then focus on <v Speaker 2>Horizon six or sorry, it would. <v Speaker 1>Be the next one would be Horizon six, right. <v Speaker 2>It was oh yeah, yeah, I'm sorry. I four came <v Speaker 2>out first on PlayStation. I think that's what screwing me up. So, yeah, <v Speaker 2>Horizon six and getting it on Xbox and PC first <v Speaker 2>and then PlayStation three months later to keep this momentum going. <v Speaker 2>I kind of sort of get it. It resulted in <v Speaker 2>mass layoffs, and I do not want to take them <v Speaker 2>off of the hook for that. <v Speaker 3>That's awful. <v Speaker 2>But now it's sort of there is a reason. There <v Speaker 2>is a reason. That's all I'm saying. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, I think that they could have made Motorsport work. <v Speaker 1>But I'm with you again, they're reacting. They are on <v Speaker 1>like both of these companies are always on their heels <v Speaker 1>because they're afraid of like making taking big risks and <v Speaker 1>trying things. So they look at the telemetry that it's <v Speaker 1>telling us this, and we're seeing what Forts Horizon does <v Speaker 1>when we put that on PlayStation. If we're there say this, <v Speaker 1>what if we put Motorsport over there? What would happen? <v Speaker 1>They'd be like, well, those people already have Grand Turismo, <v Speaker 1>so they're not going to need Motorsport. That demain would <v Speaker 1>be far, far less. And we know that there's less <v Speaker 1>interest in this game overall because of what happened on Xbox, <v Speaker 1>and so they're like, oh, is it even worth it anymore? <v Speaker 1>And then they're in the mood of nothing's worth it. <v Speaker 1>That's what it feels like, is that happening over Xbox. <v Speaker 1>Nothing is worth it except for these handful of small <v Speaker 1>games that are small handful of games that make all <v Speaker 1>the money. All right, let's keep going here. The Outer <v Speaker 1>World's two price has dropped back down to seventy dollars. <v Speaker 1>This is from sal Ramano at Kamatsu. The Outer World's <v Speaker 1>Two will cost seventy dollars instead of the previously announced <v Speaker 1>eighty dollars when it launches for PlayStation five, Xbox Series, <v Speaker 1>and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store on October twenty ninth. <v Speaker 1>Publisher Xbox Game Studios in developer Obsity Entertainment announced. They <v Speaker 1>said We're focused on bringing players incredible worlds to explore <v Speaker 1>and will keep our full priced holiday releases, including The <v Speaker 1>Outer World's Two at seventy dollars, in line with current <v Speaker 1>market conditions, and Xbox representative told Windows Centrals in regards <v Speaker 1>to the decision. <v Speaker 3>Whoa what do you think happened here? Ready? <v Speaker 2>Ready, I want to tell me you're let's do it <v Speaker 2>was never it was never coming out of eighty dollars. <v Speaker 1>Ooh I like this one. Oh I like that. <v Speaker 2>Oh now people coming out of eighty dollars. They not <v Speaker 2>not only do people think they got a deal, this <v Speaker 2>was micro way of saying, let's see how people react <v Speaker 2>if we try to do what Nintendo did, and then <v Speaker 2>when they were like no, they're like okay, we just <v Speaker 2>dropped the price. Goodwill for everyone. People are gonna be <v Speaker 2>back in. <v Speaker 1>And they still and they still know it's coming, right, <v Speaker 1>they still have and they know it will happen eventually. <v Speaker 1>But now, oh my god, Jason, Now, maybe a bit <v Speaker 1>too smart for Microsoft, maybe a bit too smart for Microsoft, <v Speaker 1>but but I really like that at the very least, <v Speaker 1>it'd be like that is going to be the effect. <v Speaker 1>That's the end result. Everything you said there is what's <v Speaker 1>going to happen, if it was intended or not. That's <v Speaker 1>how it's gonna go down. Now people are gonna feel <v Speaker 1>good about this. Yeah. <v Speaker 2>They put out the little fancy graphic on social media <v Speaker 2>with the moon Man scratch it out, the seventy nine <v Speaker 2>ninety nine sixty nine ninety nine, the one that they <v Speaker 2>made the same fucking day they announced the seventy nine <v Speaker 2>ninety nine price, and just waited for people to get <v Speaker 2>pissed off that if I'm a if I'm betting man, <v Speaker 2>that's what they did over there. They wanted to see <v Speaker 2>what their reaction would be. They did it with this <v Speaker 2>game because if people got outraged with this one, lord <v Speaker 2>knows what they would do with gears or a new. <v Speaker 3>Halo or something like that. <v Speaker 2>And then they were like, Okay, yep, we can't do <v Speaker 2>this yet, and then they pushed it back to sixty nine, <v Speaker 2>nine and nine. That to me is why I think <v Speaker 2>this happened. I don't think it was ever coming out <v Speaker 2>of seventy nine ninety nine. <v Speaker 3>That's my miney. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, And it's a reminder that you know, people yell <v Speaker 1>at these companies. It works, you know, don't yell at individuals. <v Speaker 1>Spare the individuals as much as you can, but definitely <v Speaker 1>be loud about these companies. They are sensitive to it. <v Speaker 1>And Xbox still especially is sensitive to it for whatever reason. <v Speaker 1>Even though they're like, we don't care about anything, they <v Speaker 1>cannot detach themselves from all the social media and influencer <v Speaker 1>connections that they have, and so they're very tapped into <v Speaker 1>that stuff. They listened to all the podcasts and they <v Speaker 1>know what people are saying. So when the rants come <v Speaker 1>at them, they react. Bully these corporations. You can do it, <v Speaker 1>and you should. Now at the same time, maybe there <v Speaker 1>was pre order data from them that they're looking at <v Speaker 1>and being like the pre orders are not like, are <v Speaker 1>looking way below what we were expecting, and we think <v Speaker 1>that's the price. So maybe like you know, voting with <v Speaker 1>your wallet did have an effect here, but I think <v Speaker 1>it's more about the public reaction and then also maybe <v Speaker 1>a little bit of the conspiracy theory from old Jason <v Speaker 1>Fonelli over here. Yeah. <v Speaker 2>I don't dip into that often, but as soon as <v Speaker 2>I saw that announcement, I'm like, oh, that was that <v Speaker 2>was never like that's how like I used to think <v Speaker 2>that way when Rockstar would announce a release date for <v Speaker 2>a game, like back in the Red Dead Redemption GTA <v Speaker 2>four sort of days. They were announced one release date <v Speaker 2>with no intention of ever releasing that, and they were like, oh, <v Speaker 2>we have to delay it. Sorry everyone, but this we <v Speaker 2>can put this game on sale, or we can add this. <v Speaker 2>You know what I'm saying, This get more pre orders. <v Speaker 2>I also did five years in the video game retail <v Speaker 2>trenches in a particular place where you would stop to <v Speaker 2>get games, and I'll leave it at that. But so <v Speaker 2>I saw this like, I saw some weird backhanded stuff <v Speaker 2>in action. So it would not surprise me at all <v Speaker 2>if they never intended on releasing this at eighty dollars <v Speaker 2>and instead just wanted to gauge fan reaction, and when <v Speaker 2>they got the blowback they did, we're just like, oh, <v Speaker 2>we'll put it where it was going to be anyway <v Speaker 2>and not tell them that's just yep, that's me. <v Speaker 1>So this this quote here says and we will keep <v Speaker 1>our full price holiday releases, including the Outer World too, <v Speaker 1>at seventy dollars? Are they saying Call of Duty is <v Speaker 1>going to be seventy dollars? That's what I'm reading. <v Speaker 2>That's what I'm saying here all of their holiday releases <v Speaker 2>at sixty nine or keep our full priace holiday releases. <v Speaker 2>Last time I checked Call of Duty's coming out this holiday, <v Speaker 2>So yes, that would say that the base level Call <v Speaker 2>of Duty game is going to be sixty nine to <v Speaker 2>ninety nine. And if it's not now now, Oh, it <v Speaker 2>says full price holiday release. I thought maybe they would <v Speaker 2>say Xbox Game Studios is sixty to ninety nine. But <v Speaker 2>this is Activision. It's a different brand, different to the <v Speaker 2>CIDI area. But no, it says all of our It <v Speaker 2>says our full price holiday releases. That to me says yeah, <v Speaker 2>seventy bucks. <v Speaker 1>Yep. And this was a comment to Windows Central. So <v Speaker 1>maybe there's more information out there that I'm missing, But <v Speaker 1>I'm curious about this. I'll see. Except that feels like <v Speaker 1>one where it's like, oh, Outer Worlds too. Yeah, we're <v Speaker 1>gonna put that back down to seventy, but Call of <v Speaker 1>Duty can get away with eighty. But I think, honestly, <v Speaker 1>if Call Duty is seventy, I'm more on board with, <v Speaker 1>like even more on board because I'm already on board, <v Speaker 1>I'm even more on board with what you said in <v Speaker 1>terms of this being like an overall strategy that they <v Speaker 1>were thinking about and always had this trapdoor built in <v Speaker 1>of let's get the reaction, let's get the data, let's <v Speaker 1>get some pre order numbers, and then let's pull it <v Speaker 1>back so now people are still where it's gonna be eighty, <v Speaker 1>and we can get the goodwill for this holiday. It's <v Speaker 1>kind of too perfect. I think you're on a symptom. <v Speaker 1>Borderlands four runs at thirty frames per second on switch To. <v Speaker 1>This is from Jonas Mackie at Game Reactor. Recently, Gearbox <v Speaker 1>and two K finally revealed that Borderlands four will be <v Speaker 1>coming to switch To only three weeks after other formats, <v Speaker 1>and so that's coming to October third. Now we have <v Speaker 1>a little bit more information to share thanks to Gearbox <v Speaker 1>founder Randy Pitchford. He writes on social media that no <v Speaker 1>content will be missing from the Switch two of it <v Speaker 1>switched to edition, which means it won't have any problems <v Speaker 1>with cross play with other versions, and says that the <v Speaker 1>game will run at thirty frames per second with a <v Speaker 1>few exceptions. Yeah. I think this is in line with <v Speaker 1>what we've been hearing early on about the switch To <v Speaker 1>that anything that can run on an Xbox Series s <v Speaker 1>for the most part, for the like, you know, the <v Speaker 1>the vast majority of those games they can run on <v Speaker 1>switch Too. They might just have to be thirty frames <v Speaker 1>per second. I think Borderlands four is going to be <v Speaker 1>a pretty good example of that. That's not going to <v Speaker 1>be the most demanding game, but it's not not a <v Speaker 1>demanding game, So I think that another good sign that <v Speaker 1>the switch To can run these games. Of course, I <v Speaker 1>wish this was at sixty frames per second, but that's <v Speaker 1>not what I was expecting for games that are getting <v Speaker 1>ported from other current gen consoles. So good sign. How <v Speaker 1>do you take this and is there a chance you <v Speaker 1>ever play at Borderlands four on a switch To. <v Speaker 2>I'm right now open to playing anything on switch to <v Speaker 2>just to see how it runs. Like WWE two K <v Speaker 2>twenty five I think launched today on switch To, So <v Speaker 2>I want to see how that runs. Just in can <v Speaker 2>Harrison to the main console once. I'll give anything a shot. <v Speaker 2>But this doesn't surprise me, especially specifically call out like <v Speaker 2>intense heavy combat movements where if you're hosting a game <v Speaker 2>in handheld mode it's gonna dip. Yeah, handheld mode is <v Speaker 2>not as powerful as when it's docked. This all makes <v Speaker 2>sense to me, especially now in the beginning of Switch <v Speaker 2>two's life cycle, where people just want to get on <v Speaker 2>the console, and I feel like Switch two owners would <v Speaker 2>have some sort of understanding at least I hope that <v Speaker 2>anything that's coming out in the first year from a <v Speaker 2>third party especially is not going to be one to <v Speaker 2>one with the PlayStation five or PC or Xbox versions. <v Speaker 2>It's just not they knew that going in. I think <v Speaker 2>I think Switch two owners would be now if it <v Speaker 2>runs like five frames per second when you're walking down <v Speaker 2>a cliff and it's total dog shit, then people start <v Speaker 2>getting angry. But this here, if this checks out, I <v Speaker 2>don't think. I don't think Switch two owners will be <v Speaker 2>mad about that. I think they'll they'll understand it, and <v Speaker 2>they'll accept it, and they'll just be happy to be <v Speaker 2>playing Borderlands on a Switch right Because if you're a <v Speaker 2>switch only player, you don't get I don't. I mean, <v Speaker 2>did they get the handsome collection? I think maybe they did. <v Speaker 2>I'm not sure. <v Speaker 3>But this is cool. I think the more the more. <v Speaker 2>The big thing about this Borderlands for announcement from from <v Speaker 2>a couple of days ago was why was Randy Pitchford <v Speaker 2>on the Duke Nukem Forever thrown? <v Speaker 3>What the hell are you doing that for? <v Speaker 1>I don't know. He just does things. <v Speaker 2>He just does things, just does things. But yeah, I'm <v Speaker 2>I think this is fine. I think this is I <v Speaker 2>think people are going to be, uh be fine with <v Speaker 2>this and not have a problem with it. I do <v Speaker 2>see though, further down that it's going to be on <v Speaker 2>one of those game key cards that people are Oh, <v Speaker 2>I'm really worried about it. <v Speaker 1>The game's probably more than sixty four gigabytes, So even <v Speaker 1>if it could even if they were willing to eat <v Speaker 1>that cost, I don't think there's a game card that <v Speaker 1>it could fit out that it you know, physically could <v Speaker 1>fit on, even if if it's less than sixty four gigabytes, <v Speaker 1>Or they could have put some amount of the game <v Speaker 1>on there and then had you download the rest. I <v Speaker 1>suppose they could do that. But at a certain point, <v Speaker 1>if you're downloading a huge chunk I think a game <v Speaker 1>like that, they're just going to do the game download <v Speaker 1>thing and that's going to meet a game key card. <v Speaker 3>Real quick, mister Grubb, you're you have you seemed to <v Speaker 3>have frozen? <v Speaker 1>Okay, I just Jane, that's I'm am. I frozen for <v Speaker 1>you in Discord as well, Jason. <v Speaker 2>In Discord on this on this chat of the stream <v Speaker 2>that I have on the background my show. Now it's <v Speaker 2>just me. Welcome to Jason Mess Mornings with Really it's <v Speaker 2>finally mine. Uh uh Now, I'm only kidding. He'll be <v Speaker 2>back shortly. He's just doing his little thing and I'm <v Speaker 2>vamping because clearly I was not ready for this here <v Speaker 2>he is, all right, he's coming back. It's his show again. <v Speaker 2>I hope it's Jay j Mess Mornings. Thank you. <v Speaker 1>Uh. <v Speaker 3>I appreciate that. <v Speaker 2>I still having some some camera interests here, But get <v Speaker 2>back to get back to Borderlands for and Randy Pitchford <v Speaker 2>on that chair. That chair should have been thrown away <v Speaker 2>years ago. Why is this man sitting on the duke <v Speaker 2>Nukem forever thrown very very very yay. <v Speaker 1>It broke a lot for me. I had to update <v Speaker 1>discord to get at the work against there go. <v Speaker 3>Oh oh jeezus. <v Speaker 2>But real quick, before we go back to the next one, <v Speaker 2>I mentioned Duke Duke and Forever. There was a tweet <v Speaker 2>or a big blue sky post yesterday that Yesterday, July <v Speaker 2>twenty second, was the same amount of days between the <v Speaker 2>launch of Duke Nukem Forever and yesterday that it was <v Speaker 2>from Duke Nukem Forever's original announcement to its release. Wow, <v Speaker 2>it was like five thousand something days between. Yeah, it <v Speaker 2>was just a weird I gotta I'll find the post <v Speaker 2>for you. <v Speaker 1>It's also weird to think that we've been living with <v Speaker 1>Duke Nukem Forever for five thousand days. <v Speaker 2>Man, Yeah, a lot of people just kind of forgot <v Speaker 2>you here. It is so July second, twenty twenty five, <v Speaker 2>Duke Kuga Forever was released for exactly as long as <v Speaker 2>it took from release to its announcement, and it was <v Speaker 2>the exact amount of days was five thousand, one hundred <v Speaker 2>and fifty eight. <v Speaker 3>Five fifty eight days was yesterday. <v Speaker 1>So man. <v Speaker 2>A shout out to wild Weasel for eighty six dot <v Speaker 2>bsky dot Social Weasel of the Inept nine iron for <v Speaker 2>figuring that out for just like. <v Speaker 1>Having that information ready to go for us. They put <v Speaker 1>they definitely just looked that up a long time ago <v Speaker 1>and then like put a reminder in their phone, will <v Speaker 1>remind me on the side. Absolutely, Yeah, that's the way <v Speaker 1>to do it. Uh. Super Mario Party Jamburee TV sounds <v Speaker 1>like a half baked switch to upgrade. This is from <v Speaker 1>Ethan Gotchek Kotaku. Super Mario Party Jamboree Nintendo Switch to <v Speaker 1>Edition plus Jamboree TV. It's just an incredible name. Is <v Speaker 1>a hideous title for Nintendo, for a for a video game, <v Speaker 1>and possibly even a little misleading. According to early reviews, <v Speaker 1>the base game remains essentially unchanged and doesn't take advantage <v Speaker 1>of the new hardware's extra power, while the twenty dollars <v Speaker 1>Ja Jamburee TV add on is essentially a siloed DLC. <v Speaker 1>It's minigames may be a great tech demo for the <v Speaker 1>switch to camera, but they sound like a mixed bag <v Speaker 1>for Mario Party fans. Well, we're gonna find out for <v Speaker 1>ourselves on Friday, everybody. We're playing this for upf But <v Speaker 1>let's see here at Inverse Trone Dowd said, all in all, <v Speaker 1>the switch to upgrade for Mario Party Mario Party Jamboree <v Speaker 1>isn't the value add that it was for both the <v Speaker 1>open world Zelda games. The majority of the new mini <v Speaker 1>games are fun, and the novelty of a first party <v Speaker 1>release that uses all of the consoles, bell and whistles <v Speaker 1>will provide you with some fleeting entertainment. But spending an <v Speaker 1>additional twenty dollars for a few tricks and a half <v Speaker 1>baked mode and half baked modes doesn't make this party <v Speaker 1>any better than it was the first time around. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>I think that's gonna be the big thing here, is <v Speaker 1>like twenty dollars for this new stuff, and the new <v Speaker 1>stuff doesn't augment the original game all that much. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>that's gonna be tough to swallow because if at a <v Speaker 1>certain point some of stuff's probably gonna feel like it <v Speaker 1>should have just been a free update. But I'm I'm <v Speaker 1>still interested. I'll tell you what, one thing I really <v Speaker 1>want to experience, Jason is playing Mario Party. Something bad <v Speaker 1>happens to someone and seeing their face grimace in one <v Speaker 1>of those cameras above their character's head. That that's gonna <v Speaker 1>be good stuff. I just want to see people feel <v Speaker 1>the pain of Mario Party represented on the screen for <v Speaker 1>everyone to see. <v Speaker 2>Jeff, before I get started, look directly at the camera <v Speaker 2>for me. Yeah, blink twice if the mounted gun that <v Speaker 2>Dan has pointed at you to contractually say that is <v Speaker 2>currently aimed at you. <v Speaker 1>I don't know what you're talking about. Man, that's crazy. <v Speaker 2>But yeah, I mean, none of this surprises me. None <v Speaker 2>of this surprises me at all. It's just it sounded <v Speaker 2>like a half baked addition to the game to get <v Speaker 2>it on switch to when they announced it. I'm not, <v Speaker 2>I'm not. This is exactly what I think even the <v Speaker 2>most diehard of fans expected. So they're not going in <v Speaker 2>with any extra you know, expectations. Are not reading these <v Speaker 2>and being like, oh shocks, I'm going to get cheated. No, <v Speaker 2>they wanted more Mario Party, they want to see the <v Speaker 2>switch to upgrade it. <v Speaker 3>Just whatever. I'm not surprised. I'm not. I'm not terribly <v Speaker 3>shocked by this. Am I going to try it? <v Speaker 1>No? <v Speaker 3>But I am excited to watch you guys do yourselves. <v Speaker 2>That's gonna be fun on Friday upf And yeah, you know, <v Speaker 2>I hope you win. <v Speaker 3>I'm rooting for you. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's uh. Well, even if I win, I will <v Speaker 1>have lusks. I played a lot of Mario Party with <v Speaker 1>band and Mike. The last time I played, they were <v Speaker 1>definitely like we're having fun and it was really annoying. <v Speaker 1>It was very It was very annoying to hear them <v Speaker 1>being like, ah, this is great, right, And even when <v Speaker 1>it was bad, Mike would be like, why can't entertain myself? <v Speaker 1>And that was his defense of Mario Party. I'm like, <v Speaker 1>that's not Mario Party's not doing that. Why are you <v Speaker 1>giving it credit that you can entertain yourself? Ah, it's <v Speaker 1>gonna be a nightmare. I'm looking forward. <v Speaker 2>Lego Party is gonna eat It's lunch. You heard it <v Speaker 2>here first. I can't wait. <v Speaker 1>All right, I got a question for you about a <v Speaker 1>game called two x KO. Let's going on with that. <v Speaker 1>Let's do the story first. We'll get a closed beta <v Speaker 1>this September. Bring it in v as a Fighter. This <v Speaker 1>is from Alex Hopya Game Reactor, but that's basically the stuff. <v Speaker 1>In the ninth of September, it'll get a closed beta. <v Speaker 1>Is there more going on with two x KO? I <v Speaker 1>get the sense, and I don't really know that. The <v Speaker 1>community has some questions about, hey, was this game gonna <v Speaker 1>be all right? I don't know, maybe I'm misreading something. <v Speaker 2>It's just a lack of a lack of updates. Really, <v Speaker 2>we're getting like drip drip feed piecemeal updates for this game. <v Speaker 2>And I will tell you from the last update we got, <v Speaker 2>this game has to show out at EVO. It has <v Speaker 2>to show out in this closed beta because now as <v Speaker 2>far as team based fighters go, Marvel Tocon is nipping <v Speaker 2>it its heels and it will be on the same <v Speaker 2>show floor at EVO, as was also announced yesterday, as <v Speaker 2>this riot had to be feeling pretty good. First ever <v Speaker 2>fighting game has a lot of well known FGC names <v Speaker 2>behind it, the Cannon Brothers and stuff like that, and <v Speaker 2>then to see Marvel to Con, they'd be like, oh shit, <v Speaker 2>now what are we gonna do? So close beta is cool. Also, <v Speaker 2>they've announced that if you're in the if you were <v Speaker 2>in the alpha labs, you're already in the closed beta. <v Speaker 2>The servers will stay on until the one point zero launch. <v Speaker 2>No multi versus bullshit here, which is also good. And <v Speaker 2>if they can continue to get feedback and add more <v Speaker 2>characters and do more stuff and have it come out <v Speaker 2>and launch, you know successfully. Whenever that is, maybe we <v Speaker 2>have a new, good fighting game on our hands, but <v Speaker 2>the waters have gotten much muddier since the last time <v Speaker 2>we heard about this game. Not just Marvelte Condivincible Versus <v Speaker 2>is another one three on three fighter. This and the <v Speaker 2>fact they only have eight champions so far in this <v Speaker 2>game or in this beta, when they have what one <v Speaker 2>hundred and sixty champions in League of Legends as a <v Speaker 2>whole something like that. <v Speaker 3>You have this. <v Speaker 2>Massive pool of characters that you could be pulling from, <v Speaker 2>and so far we have eight, and three of them <v Speaker 2>are from the highly success Netflix series Echo of v <v Speaker 2>or V. <v Speaker 3>I think it's Vi and Jinx. <v Speaker 2>I there is work to be done. It's not saying <v Speaker 2>it can't be done. But they also are banking on <v Speaker 2>a fan base that is not used to fighting games <v Speaker 2>in the mobia community coming over and supporting it because <v Speaker 2>it's League of Legends, and that's not necessarily a short thing, <v Speaker 2>right Riot Forge will speak to that. So I'm rooting <v Speaker 2>for I'm rooting for all the fighting games. I want <v Speaker 2>all the fighting games to be great. I want all <v Speaker 2>everyone to play every fighting game that they have time for. <v Speaker 2>And you know, Rising Tide, right or you know, Rising <v Speaker 2>Tide lifts all boats, whatever that is. But as far <v Speaker 2>as Riot is concerned, they had a two year head start, <v Speaker 2>and now it feels like they had no head start <v Speaker 2>at all because Invincible has the Killer Instinct pedigree underneath it, <v Speaker 2>and Marvel Tokn is just Marvel tag based fighter, even <v Speaker 2>if it's a different company taking it for the first <v Speaker 2>time with a four v four format which has never <v Speaker 2>been seen before. It's like, I don't know, man, it's <v Speaker 2>the fighting game scene outside of the top layer. So <v Speaker 2>your street Fighters, your Tecans is about to get real interesting, <v Speaker 2>and it starts with these three. I hope it all <v Speaker 2>pans out. Like I said, for all of them, I <v Speaker 2>will be playing this closed beta because I wasn't al <v Speaker 2>Fa Lab two. <v Speaker 3>But I don't know. I don't know. <v Speaker 2>For Riot at least, I think they drip fed too much. <v Speaker 2>I think they took too long, and now there are <v Speaker 2>two more viable contenders nipping at its heels for different reasons, <v Speaker 2>and they have to get back. <v Speaker 3>In front of it. <v Speaker 2>And the only way they're going to do that is <v Speaker 2>do that is with cool character designs and cool two <v Speaker 2>v two tag for match, which they had at last <v Speaker 2>year's Evo. I did like the demo at last year's EVO, <v Speaker 2>but there's more work to be done and we'll see what's. <v Speaker 3>Changed in the year. <v Speaker 1>I uh yeah, I just the story around this game <v Speaker 1>has changed so much where when people were so hot <v Speaker 1>on it. But you're right, I think it's just burned out. <v Speaker 1>It's it's timing advantage, and now it's got a Now <v Speaker 1>it feels like it's playing catch up. And none of <v Speaker 1>these games are even out yet, so that's probably a <v Speaker 1>pretty shady position to be in, but it's right. I'll <v Speaker 1>be all right Woodchuck Wong Wuchang, I'm gonna say Wu <v Speaker 1>Chang Fallen Feathers reviews are out set a seventy seven <v Speaker 1>on Open Critic, which you know is pretty good for <v Speaker 1>one of these, although it's pretty mixed on the reviews. <v Speaker 1>For example, Adrian Burrows at the Sixth Axis gave it <v Speaker 1>a four out of ten and said, despite a fascinating premise, <v Speaker 1>one inspired by both Chinese folklore and real life history, <v Speaker 1>Wuchong Fallen Feathers resolutely fails to deliver on any of <v Speaker 1>its initial early promise. This is a soul's like by <v Speaker 1>the numbers, one hampered by a cornucopia of ps five <v Speaker 1>performance issues that plagued the game like a disease like <v Speaker 1>Christian M. Villa at Aria Hugunes gave it a nine <v Speaker 1>out of ten and said Uchung Fallen Feathers is an <v Speaker 1>innovative Souls like with deep combat and dynamic systems that <v Speaker 1>add a lot of depth to the overall experience. The <v Speaker 1>madness gauge and the inner Demon manifestation is quite a <v Speaker 1>ground bake breaking way to transform death into a powerful <v Speaker 1>gameplay mechanic. If you are looking for a new Soul's <v Speaker 1>like with fun, fast paced combat, the Muchong Fallen Feathers <v Speaker 1>will definitely check all of your boxes. To me, this <v Speaker 1>sounds like how Soulsborn's review right where people are very <v Speaker 1>hard on them because they have a certain extremely high <v Speaker 1>level of expectations. They're they're not going to be patient <v Speaker 1>for things that don't meet those expectations, and maybe rightfully so. <v Speaker 1>And then some people are like, actually, no, this one <v Speaker 1>got me and I'm totally on what it's trying to do, <v Speaker 1>and I'm on board. We're going to go for it. <v Speaker 1>And that's just how these souls like Quoones tend to go. <v Speaker 1>And so getting out of seventy seven pretty good. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean having played it at a summer games Fest, <v Speaker 2>and the only thing I could say about that demo <v Speaker 2>was man, that it beat my ass. I was seeing <v Speaker 2>a lot about difficulty spikes and how that kind of <v Speaker 2>hampered the overall experience, and I would, yeah, I agree <v Speaker 2>with that one hundred percent based on my limited demo. <v Speaker 2>But I am also with you that if it's not <v Speaker 2>a actual from Software Souls, like it's always it always <v Speaker 2>seems to be mixed. There are people who like the innovations, <v Speaker 2>and there are people who just our board that it's <v Speaker 2>not a Soul's game, it's not authentic, for lack of <v Speaker 2>a better term, from Software Souls game. I'm not surprised <v Speaker 2>by this at all. This is exactly if I were <v Speaker 2>to be a betting man, I would have said, like <v Speaker 2>a seventy five on Open Critic, did. <v Speaker 3>You did you review this? Did you did you? Guys? <v Speaker 3>You and Mike do this one on your little competition? <v Speaker 1>I can't remember that. Like, so, we had a guessing <v Speaker 1>game where we try to guess what the Open Critics <v Speaker 1>scores are going to be for games. <v Speaker 2>I feel like we did, but I have no idea <v Speaker 2>to go back in the track because yeah, I would have <v Speaker 2>gone seventy five seventy six, so seventy seven is actually <v Speaker 2>it's not bad. It's not bad, and I think when <v Speaker 2>all said and done, that's what this is going to <v Speaker 2>be and not bad souls like, because that's what most <v Speaker 2>of them are. The soul's formula as beaten, as much <v Speaker 2>of a beaten path as it is, it's that way <v Speaker 2>for a reason. It's very engaging, it's very challenging. It's <v Speaker 2>very viscerally fun, but in specific execution with potentially PS <v Speaker 2>five performance issues and the difficulty spikes I was hearing <v Speaker 2>elsewhere that might be what brings it down a little <v Speaker 2>bit further. <v Speaker 1>And that lies the p DLC. Right, is it just <v Speaker 1>came out recently and that's really highly regarded souls like, <v Speaker 1>so you can go play that instead. Like, Yeah, it's <v Speaker 1>just a challenging space to be in, but I think <v Speaker 1>it's also a little bit of a lottery ticket. If <v Speaker 1>yours hits and you're one of the really good ones <v Speaker 1>Lives of Pe broke out, So I guess it's not <v Speaker 1>a lottery ticket. You just made a good one, all right. <v Speaker 1>Terminator two D no fate is delay October thirty. First. <v Speaker 1>It was originally supposed to come out in September, September fifth, <v Speaker 1>they pushed. They pushed it about a month and a half. <v Speaker 1>This is that two D Super Nintendo Arcade looking Terminator <v Speaker 1>to adaptation that just looks really awesome. I didn't realize <v Speaker 1>how nostalgic guy would be for that idea of a <v Speaker 1>movie video game adaptation. Just make it look like it <v Speaker 1>was for the Arcade and then Super Nintendo. And yeah, <v Speaker 1>I'm really looking forward to this, so I'll wait a <v Speaker 1>little bit longer. I'm glad it's not like a delay <v Speaker 1>till next year. But I hope this just means they're <v Speaker 1>polishing up and getting it really good, because I think <v Speaker 1>this game hits. It could be like one of those <v Speaker 1>surprisingly big games on something like a switch to right <v Speaker 1>if that comes up to switch to which I don't <v Speaker 1>know if it's due due to come out to switch Yeah, <v Speaker 1>switch one, So yeah, that'll that'll work where it's like, <v Speaker 1>oh yeah, I'd love to have like a little indie <v Speaker 1>game or something that feels smaller. Uh, And then turns <v Speaker 1>out it's you know, based on Terminator or two, and <v Speaker 1>it's really well done. <v Speaker 2>So I'm hopeful based on what we were saying earlier, <v Speaker 2>this is a licensed game that's a little bit less budget, <v Speaker 2>and if it comes out. <v Speaker 1>Exactly, imagine if they like were doing this kind of <v Speaker 1>stuff with Star Wars instead of the biggest games. <v Speaker 3>Ever and it's like another super Star Wars style game. <v Speaker 1>And yeah, yeah, exactly, man, that'd be cool. And honestly, <v Speaker 1>even if they did like the prequels because they have <v Speaker 1>the freckles, never got games like that, so it's like, yeah, <v Speaker 1>I do Super Super Phantom Menace. Yeah, that would be <v Speaker 1>neat to see'd cool. All right, let's get to the <v Speaker 1>poll question. We have that over here. Make sure I <v Speaker 1>have the most up to date results for you all <v Speaker 1>from giant Bomb on YouTube. All right, so this is <v Speaker 1>from earlier this week. Did you buy movies or TV <v Speaker 1>shows through your Xbox? Yes or no? Eighty four percent <v Speaker 1>said no, sixteen percent said yes. That was a bigger <v Speaker 1>number than I was even expecting. But I guess over <v Speaker 1>the in the grand scale of time, all like, since <v Speaker 1>the beginning of them selling movies and TV I guess <v Speaker 1>people are like I did once and maybe said yes <v Speaker 1>because I did once. Yeah, then I responded no, So <v Speaker 1>I don't know why I did that. Yeah, they're getting <v Speaker 1>rid of that. It was a weird thing. But boy, <v Speaker 1>that's just not what video Like console video games are <v Speaker 1>just not that thing anymore. But when when like Netflix <v Speaker 1>first went online and started streaming, I think the number <v Speaker 1>one device for a very long time for that was <v Speaker 1>the Wei Jason. So it's like, yeah, and then I <v Speaker 1>think people the company people running those companies are like, <v Speaker 1>what we got again in on that business and that <v Speaker 1>so well that's already dominated by Netflix. What are you <v Speaker 1>thinking here? So it was just a weird thing. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I tend to forget it existed. Like I I <v Speaker 2>would go to the Xbox Store to redeem a code <v Speaker 2>and be like, oh, yeah, you can do that. Wow, <v Speaker 2>I just go on with my day. I never I <v Speaker 2>never thought of the Xbox as a media console. They <v Speaker 2>wanted me, I don't know, well not for me. <v Speaker 1>Even when they wouldn't refer to it as anything other <v Speaker 1>than Xbox one, the all in one entertainment platform. Right. <v Speaker 3>Oh my god. <v Speaker 2>Remember at the bottom of the press release and that <v Speaker 2>line I'd always annoyed the ship. <v Speaker 1>Out of me. It's companies. Companies are pretty dumb. I <v Speaker 1>I the idea that they think that that works. Remember <v Speaker 1>Jenny with her her YouTube videos about like Disney and <v Speaker 1>stuff where she talks about some of the other creators <v Speaker 1>and how they have to call it star Wars what like, <v Speaker 1>what is the star wars Land actually called whatever whatever? <v Speaker 3>The Galaxy's Edge. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, so like they're like, oh, if you're doing a <v Speaker 1>review of that Disney's and the Disney pays for you <v Speaker 1>to come out there or whatever and invites you out there, like, <v Speaker 1>please refer to a Star Wars Elexi's Edge every time <v Speaker 1>you refer to it. And it's like, well, that's not <v Speaker 1>how normal people talk. They call it star wars Land. <v Speaker 2>You know what a big one is Lord of the <v Speaker 2>Rings insists that you call it the Lord of the Rings. <v Speaker 1>Yes, that's law. <v Speaker 2>Causes a lot of grammatical issues that they just don't seem. <v Speaker 1>To care about the Lord of the Rings game. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>it's so why do what copies insist on people talking <v Speaker 1>this way about their stuff when it's like you if <v Speaker 1>you just say, I know, it's cool to say Star <v Speaker 1>wars Land, it's cool to just say Lord of the Rings, <v Speaker 1>and it would be it makes stuff just look a <v Speaker 1>lot more casual and make you seem more human. Which <v Speaker 1>I guess maybe they don't care about. We got a <v Speaker 1>new pole question. We'll get to it here in a second, <v Speaker 1>But first, Jason Fonell, why don't you tell people where <v Speaker 1>they can find you on the internet what you have <v Speaker 1>going on? All that good. <v Speaker 2>Stuff big Man Finelli on most social media Blue Sky, <v Speaker 2>I did get the Jasonfinelli dot com handles. That's where <v Speaker 2>you can find me. There a couple of reviews coming <v Speaker 2>up soon. I am still reviewing Bonanza that'll go on <v Speaker 2>live on MMLPG dot com, as well as Shadow Labyrinth. <v Speaker 3>I'm going to review that there as well. <v Speaker 2>Have a op ed coming out soon on game Spot <v Speaker 2>about Magic Gathering and how all the goodwill that they're <v Speaker 2>trying to get from new players by introducing IP like <v Speaker 2>Final Fantasy and Sonic is completely ruined by the fact <v Speaker 2>that it's all too goddamn expensive. <v Speaker 3>That's basically the gist of it. <v Speaker 2>So we'll have that up hopefully by the end of <v Speaker 2>the week, because the pre release starts for the new <v Speaker 2>set on Friday. Speaking of, I may stream tonight because <v Speaker 2>there is a streamer event for that new set on <v Speaker 2>Magic Gathering Arena. It's a twenty four hour thing where <v Speaker 2>people got at early access to do drafts and stuff <v Speaker 2>like that. So if I have time tonight and I'm <v Speaker 2>not too tired, I may hop on my Twitch stream <v Speaker 2>sixty four and check out some Edge of eternities there <v Speaker 2>For the good people who want to check that out, <v Speaker 2>I will post that on all social media's if you <v Speaker 2>want to come hang out see what it's. What the <v Speaker 2>draft's like. But yeah, that's what I'm doing, hanging out <v Speaker 2>doing the thing and really. <v Speaker 3>Want to go to EVO. <v Speaker 2>I keep saying I went last year and need it. <v Speaker 1>Send Finealite to Evo. Someone do it? <v Speaker 3>Some would do it? <v Speaker 1>Please? New Pole question? Have you ever played Forts the <v Speaker 1>Horizon five? The options are on PC, slash Xbox on <v Speaker 1>PS five or I have not. We'll get the results <v Speaker 1>of that, talk about it on Games Mornings here on <v Speaker 1>Giant Bomb tomorrow. Looking forward to that. Speaking a Giant Bomb, <v Speaker 1>we got some fun stuff happening. Let's see here the schedule. <v Speaker 1>We yes, it's gonna be Blake Club. I might stream <v Speaker 1>something before that. I did put a pull up and <v Speaker 1>if I do it a probably be Sky's Arcadia, but <v Speaker 1>maybe don We're gonna see, Yeah, it's gonna be that. <v Speaker 1>I'll definitely do Sky's Arcadia tomorrow though after GMM and <v Speaker 1>before voicemail Dump Truck. I think that's what won the poll. Actually, <v Speaker 1>it was an option between that Crono trigger or pants <v Speaker 1>are Dragon Saga. Pants are Dragon Saga was pretty close, <v Speaker 1>but I think people are going to go with Skies. <v Speaker 1>So yeah, whatever actually ends up winning that pole, I <v Speaker 1>will play that for sure on the site tomorrow. All right. <v Speaker 1>Beyond that, you know, we'll have some you know, there's <v Speaker 1>a quick look for Donkey Kong up and then later <v Speaker 1>this evening five pm Eastern, it says here on my <v Speaker 1>schedule the Rocket League Divitational, the thirty fourth annual Rocket <v Speaker 1>League Devitational, where we will be taking on Jeff back <v Speaker 1>of Our's Child in one v one battles in Rocket League, <v Speaker 1>and he's going to take us on one at a <v Speaker 1>time because apparently he's been playing NonStop, I think his <v Speaker 1>entire life essentially at this point. So he's really good, <v Speaker 1>and I'm I'm terrified he's just gonna destroy us. He's <v Speaker 1>gonna it's gonna be really embarrassing. I'm looking forward to it. <v Speaker 2>You're gonna get wrecked. I'm not looking forward to your <v Speaker 2>chances are Pelle. <v Speaker 1>Just gonna be a smudge on the ground by the <v Speaker 1>time he's done with us. Yeah, and black Club does <v Speaker 1>happen at two pm everybody, so look out for that, <v Speaker 1>all right. I think that's gonna do it for what <v Speaker 1>we have to talk about, so this one, Jason, thank <v Speaker 1>you so much for hanging out with me today and <v Speaker 1>talking about video games. Man, I really appreciate it. <v Speaker 2>Always a pleasure. Thanks for reaching out. Always here if <v Speaker 2>you need me, Pal. <v Speaker 1>I appreciate it, dude. Thank you everybody for watching. Thank <v Speaker 1>you everybody for listening. You are the best audience in gaming. <v Speaker 1>We'll be back soon with more.
