Speaker 3: Welcome to our two of Kentucky Sports Radio present it by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones walking back.

00:01:06
Speaker 4: It is our number two Kentucky Sports Radio.

00:01:08
Speaker 5: If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. We will go back in just a second to UK football. Let's talk about a couple other things here real quick. First of all, Blue White game drew. Nothing really matters except that Jalen Low got hurt. I mean, I don't even know that there was anything worth talking about before the game.

00:01:29
Speaker 4: It cast a appall on.

00:01:32
Speaker 5: The proceedings because as soon as it happened, then everybody stopped playing.

00:01:38
Speaker 4: We still don't have an.

00:01:39
Speaker 5: Official word from UK, but the kind of unofficial word that I've heard, and it seems like since then other people have heard is that kind of popped it out of place, but nothing was torn, and they feel like, uh, it should be fine. And the phrase I heard was two to three weeks, not gonna probably play in the exhibition games and then hope to have him for at least one regular season game before Louisville. But it was said to me that, you know, sometimes these things can linger and it could go a little bit longer. But the sort of worst possible option, which is like serious injury seems to not be on the table. Have you heard similar things that?

00:02:25
Speaker 6: And uh, there's some people that saw him at the Louisville volleyball game yesterday and he wasn't wearing a sling, which you think, I would almost bet anything you'd have a sling on and you know they're keeping a close eye on him, and said he looked to be in good spirits. He wasn't really favoring or anything. So he was out in public and living his normal life going through it all. But when it happened, that was about the biggest panic I can remember around the Kentucky fan base there for a.

00:02:46
Speaker 5: Little while since we've had one of those, Yeah, where everybody was because I mean, I think he's the only guy on the team. Rhyn you can't lose, you know, I mean, you don't want to lose anybody. You don't want to lose anybody. But if you're just talking about the guy that would hurt the team the most long term to lose, I think it would be him. And then to have that happen in the Blue White game was its tough.

00:03:08
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:03:08
Speaker 2: I got two things. One, I'm tired of seeing our point guard lay on the ground with a shoulder injury. That's two years in a row. That's got to stop. And second, it's all Annabelle. Get her out of here. Don't let her come back around here in basketball season. Get her out.

00:03:21
Speaker 4: So you you all blame Annabelle.

00:03:25
Speaker 3: Of course you got on the air, you were mocking her.

00:03:32
Speaker 7: Came after your favorite player. You've been talking to.

00:03:38
Speaker 3: Reverse the curs and apologize to annabel right now.

00:03:42
Speaker 4: It is it was. You think it's because it was my favorite play.

00:03:45
Speaker 3: Yes, I mean she could have gone after anybody, but she chose your favorite player.

00:03:49
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:03:50
Speaker 5: Well I don't think it had anything to do with me. Plus, there was a priest that blessed the city of Lexington.

00:03:56
Speaker 4: Did you not see that? Yeah?

00:03:58
Speaker 7: But it doesn't work on her.

00:04:00
Speaker 2: Remember you made fun of him. Didn't think he was a real priest?

00:04:02
Speaker 7: True, you didn't. You questioned his credibility.

00:04:06
Speaker 5: Yeah, I still don't think he's a real I don't think we. I don't think the Pope assigns priest to follow dolls.

00:04:12
Speaker 4: I don't. Maybe I'm wrong.

00:04:17
Speaker 2: And it was the one player who gave the jersey to Adam Sandler, So Annabel I think totally signaled that person.

00:04:22
Speaker 3: Out Adam Sandler mentioned to somebody getting injured. Yes, come on, man, let's connect the dots.

00:04:28
Speaker 5: So you're putting all this together as a Annabelle Sandler Uh Jones. Yeah, I don't throw me in there. I didn't have anything to do with this situation. So Ryan, you haven't heard anything though to make it seem like it could be longer than that.

00:04:44
Speaker 2: No, I'm leaning on you guys to surprise us with some up health updates because I've not heard anything. They just desperately need him back this season. He's he's the most valuable player on the team.

00:04:54
Speaker 5: I do think Drew he probably won't play against Purdue. Does that change how you feel like you'll judge the game and get the number one team in the country Friday?

00:05:02
Speaker 6: No, we're Kentucky basketball fans and we're absolutely crazy. So we expect to win that with anyone playing point guard. And if we don't, we'll we'll panic a little bit, not too much, but we won't treat that like the game that it should be, just as a meaningless expedit exhibition.

00:05:16
Speaker 4: Well, I'm not gonna panic.

00:05:18
Speaker 5: I actually think this is in some ways for me personally, Uh, Ryan, It makes me worry about the game last Now I'm gonna be like, well, if we lost, we will have won if we had or Jaylen Low, you know, like I mean, I actually kind of think it's gonna be I'm less nervous about the game without him because again, it doesn't count, and I always have the backup excuse of not having our point guard.

00:05:39
Speaker 8: Think if they think if they win without him?

00:05:41
Speaker 6: And yeah, look the other way of the optimistic outlok a if you beat Perdue with you.

00:05:47
Speaker 5: If you beat the number one team in the country without your starting point guard, and who I think will be your first or second best player? Now, Ryan Lemon, I'm starting to get excited.

00:05:58
Speaker 2: Okay, let's let's go ahead and put a positive in on it. You know, one of the weaknesses we thought this team going in the season was who's gonna be the backup point guard. We'll find out Aberdeen, Colin, Chandler, Jasper, here's your chance, you got you.

00:06:09
Speaker 5: They're all gonna get a chance, I would think to see. I think Aberdeen will get the first shot at it, but it'll be interesting to see. I think this you really will get kind of a workout. You're gonna play the number one team in the country. You're gonna see, okay, who can play this role. And you know the other thing is Drew Mark Pope has experience and not having his starting point.

00:06:29
Speaker 4: Guard and trying to figure out how to work around it.

00:06:32
Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean you don't want this to happen, obviously, but there is a little bit of there was a question mark if who's your second point guard. Well, now you have a built in excuse to play those guys and get them experience that they would have had otherwise. So still horrible thing to happen. Glad the news isn't bad, but there is a little bit of good news that the other guys will get an opportunity earlier than they would have to see what they can do.

00:06:52
Speaker 5: Saturday, we talked a lot about the just the city of Lexington and how many people were they, you know from Well, well Friday, Ryan, would you like to do your your traffic rant from Friday night.

00:07:08
Speaker 2: Friday night was the worst traffic in the history of Lexington, Kentucky. It was awful. It was a waterline break on Main Street and a wreck out there at Newtown Pike and Interstate and all this happened during rush hour when Keenland was letting out and people were trying to get downtown for the Blue White game all at the same time. It was awful.

00:07:26
Speaker 4: It is the worst I've seen.

00:07:28
Speaker 5: I tried to drive to my house to the restaurant The Catch, which is out there on Southland, Yes, and I think I could have taken uh you know, I think literally could have walked.

00:07:41
Speaker 4: I mean quicker. It was. It was.

00:07:44
Speaker 5: It was the worst thing I've ever seen in terms of the whole city.

00:07:48
Speaker 4: Was was just gridlock.

00:07:49
Speaker 5: You know, you had the scare Fest, then you get Saturday, you have the scare Fest, you have the game, you have Keenland, you have Parents weekend. There was a protest downtown that had that thousands of people, and then you just throw in that it was a beautiful day, just a beautiful day to be outside and there it was just it were people absolutely everywhere. Our bar had It was the second biggest day we've ever had in our bar. Honestly, probably the biggest because the first biggest day included at a time we did stuff outside and we didn't do like we had a tint and stuff. So I'm gonna say Texas fans, by the way, Shannon Big tippers.

00:08:25
Speaker 4: Those Austin folks. Yeah, I think it's just because they're all rich.

00:08:28
Speaker 3: Everybody kept saying there's a lot of orange in there, and I said, all I could see is green.

00:08:32
Speaker 4: It was. It was a good it was. It was.

00:08:34
Speaker 5: It was a good weekend overall, had a really good overall weekend.

00:08:38
Speaker 4: But the Texas people, I do thank them for that. But just in general, the city was.

00:08:43
Speaker 5: Alive, and I think dur that's partially why Saturday night hurts so much, was because had they won, I think Lexington would have been electric that evening.

00:08:53
Speaker 8: You know, oh yeah, it was already.

00:08:56
Speaker 6: I can't remember a weekend like that maybe ever in aside from the traffic problems, likeson really showed off and everything they were going. I can only imagine how much fun Texas fans had. But if they could have Kentucky could have ended it with a win that night, this would have been an.

00:09:09
Speaker 7: All There they go again, There we go again.

00:09:14
Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a good thing. I got me and usually right as long, you know what, as long as I have.

00:09:19
Speaker 5: You, we can get through everything else and we'll be able to do it. If I'm nine two eight h twenty seven. But yeah, two eighty seven. But seriously, shout out to all the people that came to the bar this weekend.

00:09:32
Speaker 4: This was.

00:09:34
Speaker 5: Maybe the best the whole thing has ever run in terms of, like, you know, people and food quality and just people being kind. And Texas fans they're almost too nice, Shannon, Like they don't, you know, like you know, Georgia fans bark and Tennessee fans spit and like, you know, all these people they are always doing stuff. But the Texas fans were like, they were like the nicest fans I've ever in.

00:09:56
Speaker 7: For cowboys and cowgirls. Right, they're all laid back.

00:09:59
Speaker 3: And maybe maybe it's just like they're back.

00:10:04
Speaker 4: Hello there, sir, how you doing? Cowboy?

00:10:06
Speaker 9: Like?

00:10:07
Speaker 4: They've just felt like they were all pretty nice.

00:10:09
Speaker 3: Don't get used to it, because, like you said, Tennessee fans coming in this week.

00:10:12
Speaker 4: It'll be completely the opposite and the next weekend. Who's next. Let's go to Daniel, Daniel, Are they back? By the way? Are they?

00:10:18
Speaker 7: I heard Ryan talking there?

00:10:21
Speaker 8: We're here now?

00:10:21
Speaker 4: All right? All right? Cool, Daniel, go ahead.

00:10:23
Speaker 7: Daniel, Daniel, Daniel, anytime you're ready, Daniel. Okay, we'll try.

00:10:33
Speaker 5: By the way, we should note amongst the many people in the bar Saturday were former UK offensive coordinator Rich Skangrello, who you know when you're not thinking about seeing somebody Ryan and you're just like, is that Rich Skangarello.

00:10:47
Speaker 4: And then there was a moment I was.

00:10:48
Speaker 5: Like, is that Steve's because he also kind of looks like Steve's on if you remember. That was really it took me a minute through was him. And then he came in and talked to us.

00:10:58
Speaker 2: Yeah, came up talk to us a little bit. So they was there with with some Texas fans, but he had on a neutral gray shirt, not rooting for either team. So he's a guy that needs ad Oh he do over because he was here when Levis got hurt that season.

00:11:09
Speaker 5: Well, he also apparently is representing a lot of the potential first round picks in the draft, so I think it'll be uh, he'll be doing all right, go ahead.

00:11:17
Speaker 7: Done, go ahead.

00:11:20
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:11:20
Speaker 9: There's two things I'd like to say. First one is I got to see all four of the Manning boys play and I was not impressed with his last one. Second thing is we had good drive going the first quarter. I believe it was made all the way down their twenty yard line and we just stopped. We should have been ahead, but we stopped throwing the ball and we ran what's your take?

00:11:47
Speaker 5: It did make me wonder. Okay, so they scripped and I appreciate the call. They script drew I think their first fifteen plays of the game, and when we started the first half, that drive all the way down the field was scripted. And then you got in that situation after the slide where it was third and two, and my guess is they go off script there because it's a short yardage situation and then we you know, we're in the mud for two plays. Then if you go back to the second half, we start the second half I'm gonna guess it was scripted again, and the plays we went up and down the field again we ended up having to kick a field goal, but we had a good drive.

00:12:27
Speaker 4: And part of it made me wonder when when you saw.

00:12:30
Speaker 5: How good those two drives were that were scripted, even though we only ended up with three points total in those that I think they had a total of one hundred and forty yards.

00:12:38
Speaker 4: On those two drives, it does make you underdrew.

00:12:41
Speaker 5: If like again, end game adjustment is the issue because when it was when they had time to think about it before the game. It actually they went right down the field.

00:12:51
Speaker 6: And it when just that game. Many games this year, the opening drives look good. Even going back to Calazada, Hampden's got them pretty good right out of the gate. It's from and they're on out. As you said, when you're in the middle and you're having to base things based on situational that's where I don't trust him at all. But when it's sticking to a game plan and you're right out of the half or at the beginning of the game, they've looked pretty good this year.

00:13:12
Speaker 5: Ryan, I said on the postgame show, I remember Freddy went saying there were three parts to coaching motivation, game preparation, and then situation. And I've said, I actually think Mark is really pretty good at the first two that, like, you know, with a couple of exceptions, I think they generally are pretty motivated.

00:13:34
Speaker 4: He does a good job with that.

00:13:36
Speaker 5: Obviously, there was that meme during the offseason that joked about it, but I actually think it's true.

00:13:41
Speaker 4: I think, really, especially when.

00:13:43
Speaker 5: You look at Liam and maybe even Bush when it comes to game prep and game plan, I think they're pretty good. The thing is just in the middle of the game, in game adjustments, They've just never been good at them.

00:13:55
Speaker 2: And I think he just can't help himself. I just think that's the football world he grew up in. He believes it. You know, you when you get tight, you just try to out physical, to out tough, grind and pound it, beat your opponent up front. I think he just can't help you out.

00:14:08
Speaker 3: Now.

00:14:08
Speaker 2: I we'll say this while we're talking about it. I was the best game I receivers have had all year. It was the receiver's room, really, you know with.

00:14:14
Speaker 5: That I never throw the ball downfield, but I did watch again.

00:14:18
Speaker 4: Being there, you're able to see the whole field.

00:14:20
Speaker 5: We don't get open downfield, so I think, you know, o Cho Sinko was like, they never throw the ball downfield. I kind of think, Drew, we don't have a choice because I don't think those guys get open after about ten yards.

00:14:31
Speaker 6: No, but they did spread around more than ever. There was at least ten guys that caught a pass. Law still looks like he could be something. He made a tough catch. Even though he didn't have a lot of catches in the game. You had another tight end Henry Boyer with a big grab. But it's by far the most involved they've gotten. Everyone you've looked. Choice Delatto was in the game. There's guys that haven't done anything that we're in there making place.

00:14:50
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:14:51

00:15:19
Speaker 7: Oh yeah, I'm.

00:15:20
Speaker 4: Glad that's next here on KASR. So this is Kim.

00:15:23
Speaker 3: Pom Yes, this is bound terrain about Kentucky's three point efficiency.

00:15:32
Speaker 5: I hope that's right. I just want to assume she does the efficiency ratings. Yeah, because no one's ever seen Kim pom right.

00:15:42
Speaker 8: He looks like you would think he would look.

00:15:43
Speaker 2: I got a vision in my head and a nerdy looking guy.

00:15:46
Speaker 8: He has a pocket protector.

00:15:48
Speaker 5: There's a guy, what's the guy's name for CBS that does that. I've met him one, Jerry Palm. He looks like you think he would too, Like think about what you, Brad. I mean, that's actually true. Like we know what Joe Lenardi looks like.

00:16:03
Speaker 7: Shannon Mike de Coursy.

00:16:06
Speaker 4: Well, I don't put Mike in the same groom.

00:16:09
Speaker 3: He does the same thing he does like the oh he does brackets, bracketology, Yes he does.

00:16:14
Speaker 4: So is that like you have to be like that?

00:16:16
Speaker 7: I think so?

00:16:17
Speaker 5: The Corsi, Lenardi, Ken Palm and Jerry Palm, you think they just go to the You think they were all like in the same fraternity in school.

00:16:26
Speaker 7: Fraternity of nerds. And yeah, and you put together brackets.

00:16:28
Speaker 4: Still a pretty good it's a pretty good gig, I would think though. Right, all right, got a question for you.

00:16:36
Speaker 5: Shane Sharp sign a new deal four years, uh ninety million dollars.

00:16:43
Speaker 4: We all got to see him warm up and dunk. Sure.

00:16:46
Speaker 5: Uh do you feel any like when you see something like that? Ryan, do you feel any like that's our guy?

00:16:52
Speaker 4: Or is it go? No, I'm not, I have no, it doesn't.

00:16:55
Speaker 2: Matter I don't. This is just me, but like in US, I feel like was our guy Shade Sharp, I felt like was never our guy. And I don't know why I feel that way, It's just how I feel.

00:17:05
Speaker 4: What about you, Drew, do you feel anything up for it?

00:17:09
Speaker 8: Not really?

00:17:10
Speaker 6: You know, I hate because I mean he did go to the school and wear the jersey. I mean he actually did a lot more than a lot of fans do. He attended at least a class, I assume, so he should be a wildcat. I just don't feel that way with how all that went down. It never felt right. All the the comments around it were inconsistent the whole year. It just felt like we got played on that one Sha.

00:17:31
Speaker 7: I know your answer to this, I don't catch any connection.

00:17:34
Speaker 4: So you don't feel any connection at all, right.

00:17:37
Speaker 3: I mean the guy that sat right behind him was just one row from basically being on the team as much as he was.

00:17:42
Speaker 7: So we got to look at it.

00:17:43
Speaker 3: So but I do wonder though, if he did I said this on the pre show, if he did play, and let's say he played in the tournament against Saint Peter's, I don't think Kentucky loses that game. And if they don't lose against Saint Peter's. Does that change what happens with cali Perry?

00:17:57
Speaker 7: Is he taking a question?

00:17:58
Speaker 4: It's a great question.

00:17:59
Speaker 5: I kind of agree with you that they don't lose just because who's say, I mean, he is such an elite athlete.

00:18:04
Speaker 4: Who is gonna guard him? Right?

00:18:06
Speaker 5: I mean probably no one. It's a great question. I mean there's a lot of what ifs of the of the Caliperi era, Like what if cal had just played Reid, rob and Antonio a lot? You know, I don't say this to be rude, but let's just say, Uh, Drew, DJ Wagner and Justin Edwards for whatever reason, don't decide to come here, right and you just have to play read Robin Antonio?

00:18:30
Speaker 4: Is it a different time for him? Is it a different season, different career? There they go again, There they go again.

00:18:38
Speaker 5: You know apparently, Shannon, maybe this is having to do with them. You know, like the internet is having problems all around the country.

00:18:45
Speaker 3: Yeah here, like Amazon was down and like some of the other apps that are connected with So what.

00:18:49
Speaker 4: Do we do? We know what's going on?

00:18:51
Speaker 5: Like apparently they're like like this thing says thirty three percent of all sites are either down or struggling today.

00:18:59
Speaker 4: Do we know why that is?

00:19:01
Speaker 7: I'm not really sure, Anna Belle. Maybe I don't know.

00:19:04
Speaker 5: I don't know, because there are there are a couple of apps that I use, Like you mentioned you can't get on Amazon. Yeah right, I tried to get on my bank app that didn't work earlier today.

00:19:14
Speaker 4: So I don't know.

00:19:15
Speaker 5: Maybe, and maybe that's what's happening in our studio too there in Lexington. But one third of America's Internet is either down or working sporadically today.

00:19:26
Speaker 4: This is the thing.

00:19:28
Speaker 5: One of these days, someone's gonna attack us and knock all of this out, like it'll be like a cyber attack and this country will be completely screwed when that happens.

00:19:39
Speaker 7: Oh yeah, yeah, you can't do anything.

00:19:40
Speaker 4: I mean there's really nothing you can do with best.

00:19:42
Speaker 3: It would have to shut down. I mean, everything would be shut down without.

00:19:45
Speaker 5: The and then it's not like it's easily fixable. It's not like the old days where you could just scan the credit card.

00:19:49
Speaker 4: Right.

00:19:50
Speaker 7: Yeah.

00:19:50
Speaker 3: Yeah, we have become so reliable, just reliable, reliable, reliant, reliant.

00:19:58
Speaker 7: Thank you.

00:19:58
Speaker 3: I'll get there ye on the internet. And if you don't have that. Then a lot of businesses, like I said, just have to shut things down.

00:20:06
Speaker 7: They can't do it. Who's up next, Let's go to lane lane.

00:20:09
Speaker 4: Go ahead lane.

00:20:11
Speaker 10: Hey Matt first some long time?

00:20:13
Speaker 4: Who what? What's up? Two things for you real quick.

00:20:16
Speaker 10: I'm an international pilot for Delta, so I hope you had a great experience on your trip.

00:20:20
Speaker 4: I did, thank you.

00:20:21
Speaker 10: Second off? Good second off. Do you think there's a situation on that fourth down that you kind of ride on the momentum of your kicker and go for those those three points? That way you know what you're defending against on the other end and just try to get something on the board and hope for a chance.

00:20:36
Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't.

00:20:37
Speaker 5: I mean, you know, I've obviously heard the other case. For me, it's just a numbers game, and I think the numbers are simply this, Okay, what are your chances of getting in on fourth and a half? I think if you run a good play, it's seventy five or eighty percent. Let's just say for sake of argument, it's eighty percent. And now you know four out of five chance to get a touchdown. I feel like we score a touchdown. We got a good chance of winning. All right, Let's say you kick, probably a ninety five percent chance you make it. But now you give the ball to Texas. What's the chance that they score a touchdown? I don't know, twenty five, maybe thirty three, something like that, So you got a chance of even losing. Then when you go to overtime, you're kind of in the same situation.

00:21:17
Speaker 4: They go first, but what are.

00:21:19
Speaker 5: The chances you score a touchdown from first and ten at to twenty five? It's gonna be a lot less than seventy five or eighty, right, And then remember the rules have changed, so if you go to a third overtime, it's just a two point conversion, which means basically, Shannon, you're gonna be running the same play you don't believe in right now.

00:21:37
Speaker 4: You know what I mean?

00:21:39
Speaker 5: So I just I kind of think, man that, like you know, the numbers in the situation. Now, if I'm playing a team that hasn't that whose offense is cooking, or if I feel like my defense is elite or they've got a bad kicker, may maybe it's different. But in that particular situation, I was good with it, So I appreciate the call. I mean, I you know, it could have been different in other situations, but I think the fact that they have such a good kicker to me means you give it back to him, Shannon, They're getting.

00:22:12
Speaker 7: Free right, right, A serious situation you're at.

00:22:15
Speaker 5: And so at best, at best, you're in the same situation. At worst, maybe they score a touchdown right and you don't even have a chance to win.

00:22:23
Speaker 4: So if they had a bad kicker, maybe I would have a different view, but they didn't.

00:22:28
Speaker 5: Who's next, Ben, go ahead? Ben A five nine, two eight oh twenty two eighty seven.

00:22:34
Speaker 11: Hey guys, So two things.

00:22:36
Speaker 4: One, the Shaden.

00:22:37
Speaker 11: Sharp deal contract extension just makes me even more mad that he didn't play a single yeah, a single minute when he was here. Second all just watching Saturday the game that was the best game I think I've seen Kentucky play in sentral levels. Was here to be honest, But I'm with you about going on going for it on fourth down, like you said, worst Kate scenario. But as far as it goes, I am not multiple for the rest of the season. Now, Tennessee is going to come in and do what Tennessee always does. I'm not gonna get hide thinking that's gonna happen. But as far as I goes, am I crazy to think that it's best that we just keep Mark Soups for another year with all the coaching jobs open.

00:23:19
Speaker 5: Well, let's talk about that. That's actually you lead into what I was gonna do next segment. So let's talk about that after we after return, because there are more coaching changes on the riset.

00:23:28
Speaker 4: We'll be right back.

00:23:29
Speaker 8: TJ Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ.

00:23:32
Speaker 1: He'll make them pay.

00:23:33
Speaker 3: Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio present it by Stockton Mortgage.

00:23:37
Speaker 7: Here's Matt Jones.

00:23:38
Speaker 5: Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio. Amazon Web Services, Shannon, this is what's down. Okay, So if you have a website that goes through Amazon Web Services, that's why it's not. I don't know if does the Lexington Studio run through.

00:23:54
Speaker 7: That's what we've learned today is that it does.

00:23:57
Speaker 2: Every station in this buildings having issues, and I guess you guys had issues Like night doing your podcast.

00:24:01
Speaker 5: We did, we couldn't get We had to do cover zero in our house. So because we couldn't, we couldn't get on there either. So yeah, maybe that's what's happening. One person writes on the text machine, mat I saw Drew with your twin at Keenland.

00:24:14
Speaker 4: First of all, don't say that twin. Uh.

00:24:16
Speaker 5: And he was wearing a cowboy hat. Is Drew's new thing? Cowboy hat?

00:24:22
Speaker 4: I don't know, is it Drew? No?

00:24:25
Speaker 6: But you know we we paid pretty pretty good dollar for that cowboy hat. Now I've only warned a few times, so it's brought into town.

00:24:31
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:24:32
Speaker 6: Actually I wasn't planning on it. I was heading out for Keenlan and my wife was like, you can wear your cowboy hat and I said, well, you know what now you mentioned it.

00:24:37
Speaker 8: Yeah, so they were just yeah, they had taken over Lexington. If you can't beat him, join him.

00:24:43
Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, Well it looks good like you. He looks like he's gonna ride rope. H.

00:24:49
Speaker 8: I'm I ride zero rope.

00:24:54
Speaker 3: Well, I saw how much you guys paid for those hats, so you might as well wear.

00:25:00
Speaker 5: You can't take him on a plane because you have to carry him the whole way and that's no fun through the airport.

00:25:05
Speaker 4: So I get it. Yeah.

00:25:07
Speaker 6: I actually got to hang with your your twin for a little bit in brack Oswaller on Friday at Keenland and then I actually sat right next to them at dinner, so I was with them a lot. And he's very familiar with the joke, and now that I've been with him in person, it is pretty eerie how similar you all look. It's not just like a screenshot.

00:25:24
Speaker 4: I don't need to I don't need to listen.

00:25:25
Speaker 7: Was he drinking die coke?

00:25:27
Speaker 5: A couple of people you are asking about the show this week, So tomorrow, not sure where we're gonna be yet tomorrow. If it'll be in the bar or studio, I'll I'll try to tweet that out. We will be in the bar Wednesday and Thursday, and then Friday, Ryan, we are at Don Franklin in Lexington to get ready for the Purdue game.

00:25:46
Speaker 2: Correct, I'm not for sure which Don Franklin.

00:25:49
Speaker 5: For sure which one it is either, but it'll be at Don Franklin in Lexington for the Purdue game Friday. Also Tomorrow night at Kasbar, they're having something Drew called Quiz Night with Quiz.

00:26:00
Speaker 4: What does that mean? Quiz Night with QUI.

00:26:02
Speaker 6: Quiz Night with quiz. Uh that that's a curve ball for me. I would assume most quiz Nights would come with a quiz.

00:26:07
Speaker 4: It was this guy.

00:26:08
Speaker 5: Maybe this guy's name's quiz. Okay, it's gotta be. But they're giving prizes every round so you can win. So if you've ever, if you, if you, if you're like you know, mattch trivia is too hard or he gets too mad at people for asking questions. That does happen sometimes, shit because people ask quiz Night with Quiz Tomorrow night starts at six o'clock if you want to quiz with quiz. Al Right, let's talk for a second about coaches. Billy Napier gets fired.

00:26:33
Speaker 4: Got fired after a win after they beat Mississippi State.

00:26:38
Speaker 7: Does happen?

00:26:39
Speaker 5: That feels like he's gonna lose at some point this year. Why don't you at least let him lose his last game, fires him after a win. He's now out. So let's just talk about the jobs that are already open, Okay for next year. Penn State's open, Florida's open, Arkansas, Oakla, Oklahoma State, UCLA, Virginia Tech. You're probably gonna also see Auburn come open unless something crazy happens, And you're probably also gonna see at least Florida State come open their ad said, we are exploring all options for our football team in the program. That doesn't make you confident, Shannon, if you're the coach going forward right right?

00:27:23
Speaker 4: Yeah? At all? So you have some power jobs that are gonna be open.

00:27:28
Speaker 5: I mean just obviously Penn State, Florida State, Auburn and Florida are better jobs, and certainly Arkansas, UCLA, Virginia Tech. I mean those jobs can are equal or some people would think.

00:27:42
Speaker 4: They're better, depending on how you look at it.

00:27:45
Speaker 5: Do you think Ryan, it changes whether you make a decision based on what other jobs are open, or do you do what you're gonna do and it doesn't matter what other jobs are open.

00:27:57
Speaker 2: I think you have to consider it. I think you got take into consideration a little bit. You look at each other jobs and some of these top canids. There are only so many good top candidates, and there are some better jobs in your job already hanging out there. So I think you have to consider it a little bit, don't you.

00:28:12
Speaker 5: Well, I kind of go the opposite, Drew, because if you decide you don't want to make a change to wait, I mean, then you're gonna lose all these candidates. You know, in theory, let's say there's seven good candidates and there's nine jobs. Okay, in theory, if you're one of the ones to go after it, you might get one of the seven. If you wait, then you're definitely gonna get none.

00:28:35
Speaker 4: Of the seven.

00:28:36
Speaker 5: And then you got to hope new candidates emerged next year, which I guess they could, but I you know, and it also may just be the case, Drew, this is just gonna happen every year now in today's college football. So you when it's your turn, it's your turn.

00:28:48
Speaker 8: That's what nailed it for me. Two things.

00:28:50
Speaker 6: One, you can't worry about everyone else. I know it's not ideal that there are better jobs open this cycle, but if you've got problems at home, you got fixture problems at home, regardless of what else is happening in the neighborhood. But also, this could be every season. This could just be how college basketball or college football is going to look for a little while as everyone's still figuring out this new era. You're also going to have several more on the lists that aren't on there yet, like an Auburn they're still going for that's probably gonna open up.

00:29:15
Speaker 4: Well, let's look.

00:29:16
Speaker 5: Who's just in the SEC. Florida's open, Auburn, Arkansas's open, Auburn's gonna be open, and there's a decent chance South Carolina will be open because Beamer might go to Virginia Tech. Or you might get fired if they don't get better. What about LSU a possibility depending on how they finish with LSU. So I mean, you got a lot of SEC jobs open. But I still say, Shannon, if you determine you need to make a change, I don't think you can worry about what the other schools are doing.

00:29:51
Speaker 3: Yeah, And I think you're right that you're gonna be running into the same situation again next year if you decide to bring them back. So if it's time to make a change, you got to do it and not worry about what everybody else is doing.

00:30:00
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:30:00
Speaker 5: I think it's one of those you know, like my my grandfather, You say, if everybody else was jumping off a cliff, would you, Well, no, But if you have to jump off a cliff, you have to jump off a cliff regardless of what anyone's doing.

00:30:12
Speaker 4: Right.

00:30:12
Speaker 5: And I still think the other thing is I think it's very important to realize that there are some top contenders for jobs that have connections to Kentucky, and I don't know Ryan, how many times that'll happen. I mean, if you were to ask the average person, who are the ten hottest candidates for jobs in the country, how many times are three of them gonna have strong connections to the University of Kentucky and some are all Will Stein and Brian Hartline all have those connections. I'm not sure that will ever happen again.

00:30:48
Speaker 2: Do you know a guy was making the same markment you just said, he goes and then you can throw him Brad White? You know, four maybe potential.

00:30:55
Speaker 4: I don't pay fans can fans you can't. I mean.

00:31:00
Speaker 5: My personal view, if you're gonna bring in Brad White, just keep Mark Stoops. Why am I paying forty million dollars to get rid of Mark Stoops? To keep Brad White?

00:31:11
Speaker 2: I think he's a top candidate that will go. Probably you coul get a hit job, stew.

00:31:14
Speaker 5: Would you pay forty million dollars to get rid of Stoops to just keep Brad White?

00:31:19
Speaker 2: I don't know if I pay forty min anybody.

00:31:22
Speaker 4: But seriously, like Drew, is there an argument to do that? No?

00:31:27
Speaker 6: I think when Stoops' time is up, it needs to be complete overhaul.

00:31:32
Speaker 5: That to me would be, you want a decision that will make my head explode.

00:31:37
Speaker 4: Pay the buy out and then make Brad White the coach.

00:31:41
Speaker 5: Because Shannon, if you're gonna have Brad White, why would you even get rid of Stoops?

00:31:46
Speaker 4: Just keep him and then Brad White stays too. You got.

00:31:51
Speaker 7: So you might as well hang on.

00:31:52
Speaker 5: That would be that would be the most bizarre decision possible.

00:31:56
Speaker 4: I can get some It makes a lot more sense to keep Stoops than to do that.

00:32:00
Speaker 7: Yeah, you go get another offensive coordinator.

00:32:02
Speaker 5: Yeah, at least for me. Who's next, Brian, Brian? Go ahead, Brian Brian.

00:32:12
Speaker 12: Can you hear me?

00:32:13
Speaker 4: Guys, Yes, take me off bluetooth.

00:32:18
Speaker 13: You are off blue too, sir?

00:32:19
Speaker 4: Okay.

00:32:22
Speaker 13: Two quick questions. One, am I the only one that thought Cutter Bowley was sapped in the end zone?

00:32:29
Speaker 5: I thought they could have called that. I mean they could have called it. I think there was an argument he wasn't. But if they had made the argument he was. I'm not sure there's much we could have done about it.

00:32:42
Speaker 13: Yeah, I have to agree it looked awful close. And second, have you seen what the NFL defenses are trying to do against the push push, so to speak.

00:32:51
Speaker 5: Yeah, we talked about that on Cover zero last night, which you can listen to on podcasts.

00:32:56
Speaker 4: Appreciate the call, Ryan.

00:32:57
Speaker 5: They just had the Vikings just had a dude lay down.

00:33:02
Speaker 7: What do they call that? I don't know, I saw like the tabletop or something there.

00:33:07
Speaker 4: They called it a table top.

00:33:08
Speaker 7: Yeah, you just laid down and then they just pile on top of the guy.

00:33:11
Speaker 5: Do you like being the guy who's just like you get to lay down and be at the bottom of the pile.

00:33:15
Speaker 2: You know, why not just put your biggest, fattest guys and put them up there and just tell them just to lay down. So they snapped the ball.

00:33:20
Speaker 4: Well that's what they did. Yep, that's exactly what they did and drew. It worked.

00:33:26
Speaker 5: They got a false start, so somebody else will probably try to do it too.

00:33:30
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:33:30
Speaker 6: Even Jason Kelcey, one of the original pushers of the tush, compliment them, said I like the teams for trying new things. I could see why this would work, and he expects more of it.

00:33:39
Speaker 5: Yeah. DraftKings bat five dollars. You can get up to two hundred dollars in bonus bets if you win. There's two Monday night games. But let's not do that. Let's do Game seven of the Major League Baseball American League Playoffs.

00:33:52
Speaker 4: Mariners, Blue Jays.

00:33:54
Speaker 5: It's gonna be sad for baseball when these two Monday night games both outright Game seven of the ALS, Yes, but they will because of who these teams are. Nevertheless, it's been a good series. Mariner's Blue Jays, Game seven. I guess let's see who the pitchers are. You got George Kirby for the Mariner Shane Bieber Bieber for the Blue Jays.

00:34:15
Speaker 4: Who you got? Shit?

00:34:17
Speaker 3: I'm really pulling from Seattle. Would love to see them get their first World Series win. But I think tonight Toronto wins and goes to the World Series to play the Dodgers.

00:34:25
Speaker 2: All right, Ryan, Seattle, you know, went up too old in the series and they were smoking the ball. But man, Toronto is just a hitting machine. They're on a roll right now. I'm going with Toronto, Drew, I can't do Toronto.

00:34:36
Speaker 6: I know they're the favorite, but I'm riding with Seattle and the Big Dumper. The Big Dumper can't let Canona the Blue Jays getting the World Series.

00:34:43
Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm kind of I'm gonna pick Seattle because I think it would be you know, everybody's gonna be rooting against the Dodgers, and it would be nice to have a team.

00:34:50
Speaker 4: That's never won a World Series go against them. It's kind of a fight for the soul of baseball. How about show.

00:34:57
Speaker 5: Hey, by the way, is that the greatest game anyone's ever played? Three home runs and ten strikeouts.

00:35:02
Speaker 3: Never been done, first player in Major League Baseball history to have those numbers in game.

00:35:06
Speaker 4: And would you go so far as to say the greatest game ever played?

00:35:10
Speaker 7: Probably?

00:35:10
Speaker 2: I mean yeah, to get the win on the mound and hit three home runs in the same game, that's pretty impressive in ten strikeouts.

00:35:17
Speaker 6: Intention if anyone's saying it's not, you need to show me the game that's better.

00:35:21
Speaker 8: Agree.

00:35:24
Speaker 4: I don't claim to be a baseball historian.

00:35:26
Speaker 5: I'll accept the argument there might be one better, but I need to see what it is, you know, I guess you could arguably doesn't play in the field, although he did play in the field when he played Pincher, right, right, So yeah, it's got to be the greatest game ever played.

00:35:39
Speaker 4: We'll take a break and be right back if I'm nine.

00:35:41
Speaker 5: Two, eight oh, twenty two, eighty sevens KSR wrker back of this take you sports radio segments, stunts about Shady Ray. 00:36:06
Speaker 5: I want to give a quick shout out to the family of a guy from Bell County named Steve Kwood who passed away at eighty two. Steve was someone who always kind of me and my family. An activist in Appalachia, fought for many many years for clean water and for kind of average citizens and their health in Bell County. He also was part of a group that in nineteen sixty four met in Berea where they took all these young people in Appalachia to talk about projects for lbj's War on Poverty that occurred in Berea and a lot of what ended up in it came from that from my hometown and always a big advocate for me, but also this show. So prayers to the family of my good friend Steve Kwood.

00:36:53
Speaker 4: Shannon, you.

00:36:55
Speaker 5: Said that there are some games out there in contention to go against show.

00:37:00
Speaker 3: Yeah, so let's see if these are better than three home runs and ten strikeouts. Back in nineteen seventy seven, we had Rennie Stonette who had seven hits in a nine inning game.

00:37:10
Speaker 7: It's pretty impressive seven minutes.

00:37:12
Speaker 4: It's not a clinching game to go to the World Series.

00:37:14
Speaker 7: Okay, we just talk about the game itself though, just the game.

00:37:16
Speaker 4: I know, but I think the situation matters, right.

00:37:19
Speaker 3: Well, if the situation matters, then I might as well save my brother, all right.

00:37:22
Speaker 4: Well the other one, okay.

00:37:24
Speaker 3: Bill Dugleby in eighteen ninety eight hit a Grand Slam in his major league debut.

00:37:29
Speaker 7: Pretty impressive. You don't like that one.

00:37:32
Speaker 8: That's happened before eighteen.

00:37:33
Speaker 4: That's probably happened a lot.

00:37:36
Speaker 3: Tony Cloninger in nineteen sixty six hit two Grand Slams and pitched a complete game.

00:37:43
Speaker 4: That's good. That's pretty good. That's prettytty good.

00:37:46
Speaker 3: Now, this one maybe the best one. Nineteen seventy one, Rick Wise hit two home runs and pitched a no hitter.

00:37:52
Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, that's really good.

00:37:55
Speaker 7: I think might be that one's there.

00:37:57
Speaker 5: I still pick show because of the content of when it happened.

00:38:01
Speaker 4: But I've never heard of that. Ryan. Two home runs and a no hitter. That's pretty good.

00:38:06
Speaker 2: I forgot that. But soon as he said, Rick Wise, I knew what was coming. Yeah, but that was just a regular season game. For Otani. To do it in the playoffs, in that situation, on that stage, that's still to me a bigger, got bigger game.

00:38:17
Speaker 4: Still, that's not so pretty impressive though, Shanna, that's a good one. All right.

00:38:20
Speaker 5: I have a question for you what you all think real quick on a hockey question. Because the San Jose Sharks have played five games.

00:38:27
Speaker 4: They have yet to win. My Carolina Hurricanes beat them once.

00:38:30
Speaker 5: After their fifth loss, the coach was interviewed and he said, quote, I promise you this is true. I would give up one of my children for a victory.

00:38:41
Speaker 7: How many does he have? How many kids?

00:38:43
Speaker 4: He apparently has three?

00:38:44
Speaker 7: Oh, the middle child, right, that's the one he wants to get rid of.

00:38:47
Speaker 5: Is it if you are his kid and you hear I would give up one of them. They're all fairly young too. I mean, I don't think he literally would do it, but he said he even drew. I am serious. I would give up one of my.

00:39:03
Speaker 4: Kids for a victory, a regular season hockey victory. I love it.

00:39:08
Speaker 6: If I were a Sharks fan, I'm embracing it. I mean, he didn't say which kids. We don't have to make it awkward when you see the kid reminds me Vveryble for the Titans few years ago said he'd give up the thing that makes kids to win a super Bowl, and we got fired up behind that.

00:39:22
Speaker 8: So I like this.

00:39:23
Speaker 6: I would support it, even though it doesn't look like he's been in that good of a coach so far.

00:39:27
Speaker 5: Well, I feel like I feel like Ryan, that's a little harsh to whatever children you have. One of these days, they're going to grow up and go, Really you against the Utah Mammoth. You would have given us one of us up for a victory.

00:39:39
Speaker 7: Ryan would adopt it. That way, wouldn't be an empty mess anymore.

00:39:43
Speaker 2: Like Dad, You're only five games into the season.

00:39:47
Speaker 4: I know he's giving it up.

00:39:48
Speaker 3: He wants to get rid of that kid anyway, that's it.

00:39:51
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, maybe, So who's next? Wayne? Wayne? Go ahead? Wayne?

00:39:57
Speaker 14: Hey, I would just you know, everybody's talking out last two that he won four. I assumed that there was gonna be a close game, and if you look at statistics, they had a thirteen chance the way we held them the whole game of scoring a touchdown against us from the twenty five yard line. But what about the first time you went for it?

00:40:19
Speaker 9: Why not?

00:40:20
Speaker 14: I mean, you're playing a team that is supposedly way better than you put points on the board.

00:40:26
Speaker 5: Yeah, but see, that's the reason why I go for it is the first part of that. You are playing a team way better than you, so you gotta you got this is your chance. I mean, you could argue how many times you're gonna be inside the fifteen yard line.

00:40:38
Speaker 4: I think the answer to that question is the whole game.

00:40:40
Speaker 5: We were only inside once after that, So you know, I understand what you're saying. I appreciate the call, but I kind of agree with what Mark Stoops said in the post game, which is, if I didn't go for it on those two times, I would have gotten crushed by for being too conservative.

00:40:54
Speaker 4: And I think that's probably true. I think I think.

00:40:58
Speaker 5: Most fans would have said, how do you not going for it? So I don't blame him going for it. I ain' is the right call. I think the problem was the play calls who's next, Andrew, Andrew, go ahead, Andrew.

00:41:11
Speaker 12: Hey, Matt, you just mentioned you know, Florida's already fired their coach, Auburt's probably going to fire their coach. So let's oppose Ups beats Florida, he beats Auburn, and he beats Tennessee Tech to get the five wins. What do you think is the most likely scenario to end the season. Does he beat Vandy ard Louisville to get to a bowl game? Does he lose two respectable games, or does he get blown out in both games? And now you're wondering, oh god, is he gonna get fired?

00:41:33
Speaker 4: Great question?

00:41:35
Speaker 5: All right, So if you if if your scenario is we beat Florida, we beat Auburn, we beat Tennessee Tech, then that means we're playing pretty good.

00:41:44
Speaker 4: Appreciate the call.

00:41:45
Speaker 5: The most likely scenario is you lose two close games to Vandy and Louisville, and Drew, we get to the end of the year and we have no idea what's going to happen. That would be to me, the most likely scenario.

00:41:58
Speaker 6: Yeah, I can see that happening, except I'm I think the Vandy game, no matter how Kentucky looks, is gonna get ugly. That's Pavi's senior day. I know we love how our defense look against Arch, but Pavia was doing whatever he wanted against LSU.

00:42:13
Speaker 13: There.

00:42:14
Speaker 4: So, of all the.

00:42:14
Speaker 6: Games left on this I mean, they're a top ten team now and they have game day coming, I'm confident we could sneak up and get Louisville even though they're right now. But that Vandy game scares me more than I could.

00:42:23
Speaker 5: Have gotten three years ago. On Vandy Missouri will be a college game day game.

00:42:29
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:42:29
Speaker 7: Or or Vandy and Indiana both in the top ten.

00:42:32
Speaker 4: Indiana's number two.

00:42:35
Speaker 7: It's insane, Indiana's number two.

00:42:38
Speaker 3: Vandy and Indiana and the college football playoffs is a sentence I thought I would never say never.

00:42:42
Speaker 5: Yeah, and it's very possible playing each other maybe, who knows. All Right, thank you all very much, we will see you tomorrow. I have a great rest of your Monday. This is being Kentucky Sports Radio
