00:00:35
Speaker 3: Now here's Matt Jones.

00:00:37
Speaker 4: Welcome Ember one. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. Tuesday, November fourth, Election Day. Across parts of America, you can give a sean the Clark's Puppetshop phone line eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. A Vision Auto Glass text machine is seven seven two seven four five two five four. In this diition sponsored by the TJ. Smith Office, you call TJ. He'll make them pay. I am on my way to Connecticut, where I will be for the next couple of days visiting the good folks at ESPN. Ryan and Drew are back in Lexington, Shannon is in Louisville, and guys, basketball season for the University of Kentucky starts tonight. Are you ready for it?

00:01:19
Speaker 3: Let's go? I'm ready.

00:01:20
Speaker 5: Kind of snuck up on me that all of a sudden, this is the real season starts tonight. Where'd that come from?

00:01:25
Speaker 4: Yeah, it started last night with a ton of games for everyone but us. But we take the court tonight and this team that we've been very excited about is ready to rock. Drew, I was excited going into the year. I was uber excited after we beat Purdue. Then I got deflated a little bit after Georgetown. But now I think I am where I was a lot of the summer, which is really looking forward to getting this group playing.

00:01:55
Speaker 6: Had a little jealousy last night watching the other teams. To be honest, I'm glad we waited for our own night, but it was very exciting watching all of college basketball last night and then here in Lexington, I mean the bb and United tip Off Classic presented by Kentucky Tourism Tipping Off. I just can't wait to get in the building for it to actually matter.

00:02:12
Speaker 4: Remind me who the field is for this.

00:02:14
Speaker 6: I thought you'd know this for this.

00:02:16
Speaker 4: Big BB in United, It's it's Nichols, Valpoe. Is that right?

00:02:21
Speaker 6: Valparaiso, isn't it? Then we got a little Eastern Illinois.

00:02:25
Speaker 4: Illinois the other one?

00:02:26
Speaker 6: Okay, later today on KSR. I'm not sure the exact time it's going up, but I power ranked the teams and have a bracketology for what you can expect in the.

00:02:34
Speaker 2: BB and United tip off for the one I like our chances to spoiler.

00:02:38
Speaker 6: We are the ones something wow.

00:02:40
Speaker 4: Good.

00:02:40
Speaker 6: But I did a lot of research.

00:02:42
Speaker 4: How did you power rank the teams when you were comparing to Eastern Illinois, Valpoe at Nichols? How did you decide who was what well?

00:02:50
Speaker 6: For for drama, I'll work backwards. Let's start fourth in last place, Eastern Illinois.

00:02:56
Speaker 4: I have them.

00:02:57
Speaker 6: They are ranked three hundred and thirty third out of three hundred and six nexty five teams in ken palm Uh did not have a good season last year. However, they have the nation's second longest winning streak. They won four games, then didn't make their conference tournament, so they are hot coming in.

00:03:12
Speaker 4: Their conference tournament.

00:03:13
Speaker 6: They won four games won four games to in the year. So they're behind Florida and Chattanooga, which won the n I T for the longest win streak in the next.

00:03:23
Speaker 5: That good, good little nugget there.

00:03:26
Speaker 4: That's interesting, right, number three? Hang on, Hang on a second, that's third longest win streak in the country.

00:03:32
Speaker 6: Yes, other than that, not very good for number three. Three Valpo some of you all might have thought have been Nichols there, No, it's Valpo.

00:03:41
Speaker 7: Uh.

00:03:42
Speaker 6: Former Illinois player Roger Powell Junior as their head coach. He was a Vandy assistant and a Gonzaga consistent. Thirteen newcomers. They have lots of height though they have seven players that are six nine or taller. But I have them at number two with the projected record of one and two in the BBA.

00:03:56
Speaker 4: N old enough? How are we old enough that Roger Powell Junior is a head coach? Didn't he just play like? He didn't play that long ago? Did he? Roger Powell Junior, That is not a name from like the archives. He's gotta be in his early thirties, right.

00:04:15
Speaker 6: Uh, he has a gray beard. That's I didn't get his act exact age, but uh, yeah, I mean that's that's his name.

00:04:22
Speaker 4: Okay, so you're arguing then that tonight's game against Nichols is for the championship of the BBN Classic, like this is, this is probably the two best teams getting each other in the first round.

00:04:33
Speaker 6: I don't want to call off the committee, which is I guess Kentucky Tourism or BBN United.

00:04:39
Speaker 4: I don't know which Kentucky Tourism, what Jerseys Kentucky Tourism.

00:04:42
Speaker 6: I do feel like we had some bad seating here getting this matchup first. I don't think they scouted the field as well. They should have Nichols youngest coach in college basketball, thirty years old to twenty win seasons. This is his third year. They are ranked two twenty five in kin Pump.

00:04:58
Speaker 4: Well, you know, there's there's this movement, all right, there's this movement that has started coming with college basketball in terms of scheduling where these where I've heard a lot of coaches complain about it, especially the mid majors, that teams are only now scheduling really good non conference games or really bad teams. There's like no in between. You remember, I actually think cal kind of took the philosophy and he didn't like to schedule a ton of great teams, but he liked the schedule teams that could win their conference. Now, for whatever reason, and I'm not sure if it's if it's the change in the RPI or NED, I'm not sure why they're doing it, but they're doing these extremes where you play really bad teams and good teams, and it looks like, if you look at our schedule, Ryan, that's kind of what we did this year.

00:05:50
Speaker 5: Yeah, Cal definitely took it, I think too far to the extreme, playing the non competitive games all in the.

00:05:55
Speaker 4: No, no, no, he didn't do that. Actually, to his credit, to his credit, that's not what he did. He would go play teams that could win their conference. So he would not we would usually play one game a year against one of those historically black colleges that were at the bottom. But he actually, to his credit, his view always was I want to play teams from lower conferences that can win their conference because maybe they'll make the tournament and we'll get credit for a win by the committee. Now, I think that which that was Tubby Smith's philosophy. Get people in the hundreds in the RPIs it seems like coaches and Mark Pope's doing this too. Are now going the other way, which is saying, take all the bat the worst of the worst teams and then play them.

00:06:36
Speaker 2: I think that actually makes sense because you basically have no chance. I mean, you do have a chance of losing, but very very slim chances of losing, and then if you lose the games against the good teams, it really doesn't hurt you that much.

00:06:46
Speaker 3: So I think you can see.

00:06:47
Speaker 4: Us last night. You could see it last night Ryan and who teams were playing all right, So if you were to look and see all the teams that were who, everybody was playing most of the Power twenty five, the top twenty five were playing awful teams. And then you're mid majors that were used to some of them were having to play teams that like nobody's ever heard of, like, for instance, Morehead. Last night, Ryan played Midway. Did you see that?

00:07:12
Speaker 5: I didn't see that.

00:07:13
Speaker 4: And almost lost by the way Midway. Midway was ahead in the second half of that game. And then I got a team Boise State, who has been in the tournament a lot of the last few years. They lost to a team called like Hawaii Pacific, Lutheran, which is a Division two team. So I just think it's interesting how it's interesting how the scheduling's changed, and I think we're gonna see UH over the years. I think if they're gonna expand the non conference, so in a few years, we're gonna be playing probably thirty five games instead of thirty one, and we'll probably add two more really good teams, and then Ryan will be playing more teams like the ones here in the BBN classes.

00:07:54
Speaker 5: So, so, what do you prefer? Open up like that or like what Florida played Arizona last night, came out of the gate playing a you know, a top team, Which will Which do you prefer?

00:08:02
Speaker 4: I like, I like having a So for the good of Kentucky, I like having a couple of games like this so you get your feet under you, I think for the good of college basketball, Drew, I think they ought to do kind of what college football does, what the NBA does, and you know the NBA, the NFL, they try to pack big games into week one. I think college basketball should agree that they should have like the first night, whatever night they choose to be, the first night, you have like a bunch of power matchups to get people into college basketball. I mean, they had Florida Arizona last night, but there was really no other game that was compelling. I feel like they should do more of those.

00:08:42
Speaker 6: I agree. Florida Arizona was a huge game. I guess if you're interested in what BYU could look like, that was exciting. But otherwise a lot of lopsided matchups, even though they turned out to be close games. You didn't get a lot of good head to heads on the schedule. But Florida versus Arizona, that was a good night one game. I wish they'd do more like that.

00:09:00
Speaker 4: Yeah, well we'll talk a little bit more about that later. So what I wanted to ask you is with this game starting to night, by the way, our games at seven o'clock, it is on the computer. So Shannon has officially volunteered he will answer all your calls about how to get how to answer how to get on the computer. So if you if you do not know how to find the game tonight, especially if you have YouTube TV, that's an added wrinkle you are allowed to call. Shandon will be at the help desk all afternoon as telling people how to get it on their.

00:09:32
Speaker 3: Right now, just answer it.

00:09:34
Speaker 2: Because every I don't know if people realize this, but there's always someone streaming the game on regular YouTube.

00:09:40
Speaker 3: So if you just go to YouTube and.

00:09:42
Speaker 2: You type in Kentucky versus whoever they're playing that night, there's always a stream of the game.

00:09:48
Speaker 4: Is that true? Yes, every game, Yes, there's always a stream on YouTube.

00:09:52
Speaker 2: You go, I guarantee you tonight, you go on YouTube, regular YouTube, type in Kentucky versus Nickels.

00:09:56
Speaker 3: There's gonna be somebody streaming the game there.

00:09:58
Speaker 4: But isn't that illegal.

00:10:00
Speaker 3: That's not for me to decide. But it's on YouTube.

00:10:02
Speaker 4: But I mean, you're participating in what is clearly illegal activity.

00:10:07
Speaker 2: No, I'm on YouTube. YouTube is perfectly legal. But the stream is I'm not streaming it. Somebody else is streaming it.

00:10:14
Speaker 4: So you don't feel it all the time.

00:10:16
Speaker 2: I'm watching somebody else commit a crime. I'm not committing the crime.

00:10:19
Speaker 3: I'm just watching them.

00:10:20
Speaker 4: Oh, it's like it's a television show. Yeah, you're watching a person committed You weren't guilty when Oja was running from the cops, or you just watch That.

00:10:30
Speaker 3: Is a great point, counselor.

00:10:33
Speaker 4: It's making a great point. You can't blame shning right for this person. So you're saying every game they have it on YouTube.

00:10:40
Speaker 2: Yes, and people are gonna ask me, like, who is it? I don't know who the streamer is. Just again type the Kentucky versus their opponent. It will be on there tonight.

00:10:47
Speaker 4: All right, Well, Ryan, is that what you're gonna do.

00:10:50
Speaker 5: I'm gonna try it. I had to go the old Sling method last game by a one day subscription to Sling does watch the games? I'm gonna try to be the YouTube version tonight.

00:10:59
Speaker 4: Did you already cancel it?

00:11:00
Speaker 5: It was just a one day thing. You get to buy it for one day.

00:11:04
Speaker 4: Oh how much was it?

00:11:06
Speaker 8: Like?

00:11:06
Speaker 5: Seven dollars?

00:11:06
Speaker 4: I think? Oh? Okay, So Ran does the installment plan of Cable's seven dollars a day for every time he wants to watch something Drew. I understand that it feels like that would add up after a while.

00:11:17
Speaker 6: But yeah, you're gonna pay seven dollars for different trial today? How does this work?

00:11:21
Speaker 5: Well, we're actually thinking about buying a week package, which is like fourteen dollars get but.

00:11:25
Speaker 6: Now you've already paid more than just the ESPN subscription.

00:11:28
Speaker 5: Yeah, because the month, like is like forty five dollars, but you just buy a week, it's like twenty one dollars, fourteen dollars.

00:11:35
Speaker 6: I mean, but ESPN itself, you're already, I think, already starting to add these up.

00:11:38
Speaker 4: Sh More is why people get in consumer debt. We're listening to it Live with With with Ryan.

00:11:44
Speaker 3: Limit didn't think that one through. Yeah, you gotta work well, all right?

00:11:46
Speaker 4: So the game is on SEC plus if you have it otherwise apparently it's on YouTube. What is it you want to see tonight? Drew? What do you want to see? Considering what we saw against Georgetown, considering that performance, and considering that we might not have Low or Aberdeen. I'm kind of thinking neither one of them plays, at least based on the comments by Pope last night. So you're gonna have another situation without a point guard. What is it you want to see tonight? Uh?

00:12:14
Speaker 6: First of all, off to correct myself, Florida lost last night, So Nichols the wind streak or excuse me, Serrilli has now moved up a notch because Florida's went even didn't even consider last night's results. But tonight with Kentucky, you know the guard situation it's hard. As you said, we're not really sure we're gonna look at I'm not gonna judge that too much with it being shaky right now, but they have to start shooting better or I'm really gonna get concerned about this team. They they really didn't or at least the shooting. They didn't shoot well Big Blue net madness. If I recall Blue White either of the exhibitions, especially some of the guys that are expected to be the shooters. I need to see better shooting for three and at the free throw line too. There was a moment Thursday they were ten for twenty from the free throw line, so that has to improve.

00:13:00
Speaker 4: You hit it for me? Those are mine. I need to see him. I need to see him shoot the ball well. I mean they have been they have shot really badly and on open shots. I mean, the thing is this group's getting open shots because they have so many guys who can get to the rim, draw, draw defenders, but they're not making shots. And I don't know if a Mark Pope system, I don't know how it works if you don't make shots. So Ryan, that's gonna be what I'm looking at. What about you?

00:13:25
Speaker 5: Yeah, I think we had a couple of guys maybe forced some shots, and a couple of guys like Ken Williams that didn't take a shot when he had it, so, you know, and they're still I'm glad.

00:13:33
Speaker 4: He didn't take him. He was zero for five when he did. I haven't seen him. I mean, he hasn't made a shot that's mattered in a while.

00:13:42
Speaker 5: But he's the guy we'd all thought would be one of the best shooters on the team.

00:13:45
Speaker 6: He's had a hesitating ways. He does not look comfortable shooting it.

00:13:48
Speaker 4: Yeah, No, he doesn't look Yeah, he does not look comfortable at all. So that's that's the big thing for me. You know, this team, from what I understand the little research I did, they're very athletic. We're That doesn't work me a ton because because they don't have the size and physicality Georgetown did. But they'll be athletics, so you're not gonna get those points that we get sometimes just because we're so much more athletic than everybody. We'll probably get those against Valpo in Eastern Illinois, but I'm we're we're gonna win, But I do need to see us shoot the ball a lot better. Aff nine two, twenty two eighty seven. We're gonna take your calls. We did not take any yesterday. I want you feel free to call about the stoopid situation to win against Auburn or the game tonight. We got a lot of other things, and Shannon, I'm gonna give some tickets away. I had somebody donate six tickets to the game, two of which are like great seats. Oh so we're gonna give those away in the second hour. But we will take a break and be right back to Kentucky Sports Radio. Love it getting Buck Owens putting the word Nickels in it. This is why, Shannon, you're the best good stuff. Fortunately for the people on the podcast, they can't hear this anymore. They can't hear your brilliance. Only half of our audience here are your brilliance, which makes me sad. Yeah, I don't know.

00:15:04
Speaker 3: I don't know that we're ever gonna get that figured out.

00:15:06
Speaker 4: We can get help. So I mean, they're isn't involved in something. I hope they do because it is a huge part of what makes this good. And I hate that you can't do it. This is it was a great pick, but you still send out the songs. Yeah, so you can just play it yourself if you want. All right, So I didn't know this. Here's a little information on the text machine, uh Matt. The reason the schedules have changed the mid major coaches have complained about it. They used to use the RPI, which gave you credit for who you played and not as much credit as for if you won or lost. People complained. Now the net puts much more emphasis on wins and losses, which may be good, but you get deemed for losing to anybody outside of quad one. So coaches have realized you're better off beating a quad four team than losing to a quad two team, and that's why everyone is low hoading up with quad four teams. There you go, right, so like that makes sense. So now you're gonna see like you cannot afford to lose to a quad two team or quad three, so you just end up playing the worst teams in the country.

00:16:17
Speaker 5: It's kind of disappointing.

00:16:18
Speaker 2: So that all the quad two teams just play each other. Then I guess right, because.

00:16:22
Speaker 4: Yeah, they haven't. They have a problem. They can't getybody. Well, that's what they've been complaining about, is they can't get anybody to play them, and in some cases they've had to dip down and play non D one teams. So like Boise State last night, they lost to a Division two team, which is a terrible, terrible loss. But here's what's interesting. It doesn't hurt them because the NET doesn't include losses to non D one teams, so they could come up for a bid and the fact that they lost to a D two team last night will not hurt them. So now they've given the Quad two teams an incentive Shannon to not even schedule people into Vision one because it won't hurt them.

00:17:02
Speaker 3: But does it count for a win if they beat them?

00:17:05
Speaker 4: No? But like I think happened, it's it's like it's exactly right. It's like surf Pro. They make it like it never even happened.

00:17:12
Speaker 5: So like Morehead, you said last night played Midway. Midway's what Naia?

00:17:16
Speaker 4: Yeah? So that game, had they lost, they won, it wouldn't have counted. I mean for Morehead, they're not gonna get in that large anyway. But a team like Boys he could, Yeah, Drew, did you see the player for Hawaii Pacific? What happened was that the dunk Well, so this guy on Hawaii Lutheran Pacific, he starts cramping during the game. You need to look this up. It's a great video. He starts cramping during the game on the floor and there's like a minute left, and rather than helping him get off the floor, the trainer comes out on the floor and drags him on the ground to the bench. You gotta look at this chance. Look at up guys. Yeah, okay, the trainer walks watching it right now. Yeah. She, it's a she, I think, drags him across the floor, off the court. That can't be healthy. Ship.

00:18:14
Speaker 2: Did they not afford recommend the procedure?

00:18:18
Speaker 4: I don't know.

00:18:19
Speaker 2: He got a litel chair stretcher just drag him off. Next man up what they're in the bunker at war. They're just dragging him off to the tent.

00:18:28
Speaker 4: Tags him off the floor and then the game keeps going and he's just laying there on the ground. Wow. I cannot imagine that's recommended.

00:18:37
Speaker 3: I don't know, that's that's not protocol.

00:18:39
Speaker 5: She was told to get him off the floor, so she got him off the floor.

00:18:44
Speaker 4: Look at that video. It's insane. Florida did play Arizona last night. You mentioned Drew. Arizona had a freshman what's his name, coy Pete Copete CoA. Pete had thirty points. Florida loses. Auburn nearly loses their first game with Bruce Pearl. They foul on a half court three. I think the Stephen Pearl era, I'm gonna make a prediction, Drew. I don't think it's gonna go well down on the planes.

00:19:11
Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean the foul on the three was outrageous. At the buzzer, standing right at the logo at half court and you're up three. The guy makes all three free throws force overtime. But even before that they were trying to give the game away. At one point, Stephen Pearl kicks the video board and breaks it, like the screens that are on.

00:19:27
Speaker 4: The Game One. He broke the video board Game one.

00:19:31
Speaker 6: At one point, you're in overtime with Bethune Cookman or whatever, and your scoreboard's broken, and you have Bruce Pearl on TV breaking down basketball and Steven is just in shambles on the planes. But he ended up holding on. But a rough start for the Stephen Pearl era, even though it was a win.

00:19:46
Speaker 4: Now, do you like Ryan the shot he took after the game though, Steven.

00:19:50
Speaker 5: Pearl, Oh, I haven't heard this.

00:19:52
Speaker 4: So you know, Hugh Freeze, I guess what During his years he would Apparently he was known in Auburn world for always saying that the fam base needed to be patient. So Stephen Pearl gets up there and goes, yeah, this is not acceptable. I know folks around here don't want to hear me say like they've had to listen to that we need to be patient. Takes a shot. If Hugh Freeze Ryan on his way out the door just gives him a quick kick in the rear.

00:20:22
Speaker 5: See I like that. I like that part of it that he was like, you know, this is not this is not acceptable. We're not gonna be patient like you've been preaching the football side. We're gonna go out and down win this thing. I like Stephen Pearl standing up and saying something like that.

00:20:34
Speaker 4: Yeah, he's not gonna work there though Shannon, it's not gonna work. No one person writes Shannon is a narc. They will take down that YouTube stream because of Shannon. I'm gonna go ahead and tell you my son and I have watched every game on a YouTube stream. If we can't do it tonight, Shannon is going to need to a poll.

00:20:51
Speaker 3: I'm just trying to help everybody out.

00:20:53
Speaker 2: But that confirms exactly what I was telling you that all these games are on YouTube. I'll say it again, they're on YouTube. But what if you just ruined how did not run it? There's thousands of people watching it. I mean, if anything, the guy who's the streamer is going to have about fifty thousand people watching it tonight, I know.

00:21:08
Speaker 4: Which will make it more likely gets taken down.

00:21:10
Speaker 2: Well, then they'll just pull another stream up. I mean, there's there's more than one person that does this too. There's multiple streams usually YouTube.

00:21:18
Speaker 5: Sheriffs listening to you right now, he's come after you.

00:21:21
Speaker 4: Well, Shandon's gonna Shanon's gonna ruin it, nark, Shannon strikes again. Who's next? Let's go to Zach Zach? How are you? Zach? Hey Man?

00:21:32
Speaker 7: So I was at the Tennessee game and when they got the ball back it's like a minute thirty. I looked at the person next to me and I said, we're giving up a touchdown here, and so I started. Because we've had a long standing critique that stoops is bad in the end of first half. So I pulled every box score since twenty nineteen and looked at how many points and touchdowns we've given up at the last four minutes of the first half. Yeah, so since twenty nineteen, if you look at all games, we've actually outscored opponents by twenty seven points.

00:22:08
Speaker 4: In love, Are you the person there we just got a minute left? Are you the person that sent me this? Yeah? Okay, So there's just to summarize because got left. Basically, Stoops has done fine in the last minutes against all teams. But when you look just at the power for if I'm correct, in the middle eight, he's been pretty bad, isn't It Wasn't that what you came up with?

00:22:32
Speaker 7: Yeah, so I didn't. If you look at the middle eight, we actually don't give a lot of scores in the first four minutes of the second half. But like, if you look at like since twenty twenty two, the last four minutes of the first half, including Auburn, we've given up seventy four points.

00:22:48
Speaker 4: I'm not to let you go. I'm trying to summarize it for you because we got to go to break. But I but I appreciate it you. He sent me a long set of dad. It was actually very interesting. Uh maybe we'll try to get that as a post. At some point. We will take a break. Be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.

00:23:04
Speaker 6: TJ Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. He'll make them pay.

00:23:08
Speaker 2: Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.

00:23:12
Speaker 3: Here's Matt Jones text machine.

00:23:15
Speaker 4: Very upset at Shadon. One person writes Matt, there's no doubt the streams getting taken down tonight. He usually has six to eight thousand views. Now because of Shannon, it will get up to thirty and that will make them definitely take it down.

00:23:30
Speaker 2: This is YouTube TV's fault that people are doing this on YouTube.

00:23:34
Speaker 4: I think people are blaming you now that's fine.

00:23:36
Speaker 3: I just want to see what the numbers get up to tonight, the streaming numbers.

00:23:40
Speaker 5: I did get in a message and said that that it's been taken down before, but the streamer will repost it somewhere else and put a link to.

00:23:45
Speaker 6: It in the Chatwo'll see tonight.

00:23:49
Speaker 4: It'll be fun as you all all try to do this. By way, you can watch the game. You can watch the game at the bar. We will not have it taken down because we actually have whatever the account is. Pregame show starts at four thirty, so come get ready for the game today, UK and Nicols. All right, I have this little thing here Ryan. I think this is good for you. Okay, it's a statistic. It's a statistic website. I have two statistics. I want everyone to guess, are you ready?

00:24:13
Speaker 5: Ready?

00:24:14
Speaker 4: First? What percentage of American men are bald? And they define that as substantial hair.

00:24:22
Speaker 3: Loss, so we're not counting babies.

00:24:25
Speaker 4: Yeah, it's an American eighteen or over and substantial hairless. They can still have hair, but they would I guess, well, so I guess we wouldn't say, but it would be substantial hair loss. What percentage of Americans do you think?

00:24:36
Speaker 3: So at least a horseshoe?

00:24:37
Speaker 4: Almost say you think seventy percent of American men are bald?

00:24:44
Speaker 5: Yeah?

00:24:45
Speaker 6: Hi, thirty five?

00:24:48
Speaker 4: All right? Drew says thirty five.

00:24:50
Speaker 2: Shanted, I'm gonna go forty two thirty eighty eight.

00:24:54
Speaker 4: You and Drew kind of split seventy. I think Ryan's just is like, well, if.

00:24:57
Speaker 2: I am, everybody's gotta be.

00:25:00
Speaker 5: I know many older men that aren't pretty partially bald. That's why that is true.

00:25:04
Speaker 4: Now, that's a good point once you get to a certain age.

00:25:06
Speaker 6: All right, Now, of men aren't older. There are men that are in their twenties. There are men in their thirties.

00:25:12
Speaker 4: Exactly, They're they're men at every age. Okay, what percentage of Americans who are twelve and over are on the Internet once in the last three months? Percentage of Americans that have been on the Internet once in the last three months, and the Internet can be used computer, mobile, phone, video game, et cetera. What percentage of Americans are on the have been on the Internet at least once in the last three months ninety.

00:25:42
Speaker 2: Eight, ninety Yeah, I'm gonna say ninety three, because there's some places that don't have internet.

00:25:49
Speaker 4: Shannon hits it dead one ninety three percent, which is still I have to tell you, it still feels oddly low to me, you know, because it feels like, do you know, do you personally know anyone that's not on the Internet. I know one person, Larry. Larry's the only person I know that's not on the Internet. He's the only ones or.

00:26:13
Speaker 6: You said once in three mins, Larry been on once?

00:26:15
Speaker 4: And there Larry would not have been on in the last three But I don't even know how he would get on. I don't even think he would know how to get on the internet, so he would be the only person I know. Do you all know anyone not on the internet? No?

00:26:30
Speaker 2: Yeah, like one, I mean outside of people not in like nursing homes. No, I don't know anybody.

00:26:35
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean Shannon's right, there are some places that don't have internet, but I would say nowadays they might not have like high speed internet, but they had a lot of them would have access to phones though, you know.

00:26:49
Speaker 6: And you just said get on it once in a couple of months. I mean that could be at a work.

00:26:53
Speaker 4: A lot seems low because like Larry is the only person I know, and maybe there are others. Okay, how about this, How many in North Korea are on the internet?

00:27:08
Speaker 3: Take a guess they're very techy there, right?

00:27:12
Speaker 4: This is no Uh well, I'm now going to answer the question. Go ahead.

00:27:15
Speaker 5: I thought it was the other way around.

00:27:16
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, they probably have like restrictions against them, that's right.

00:27:21
Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm gonna say, like it's really like, are any of them on the internet. I'm gonna say two percent.

00:27:28
Speaker 4: Shannon thirty.

00:27:31
Speaker 6: Zero zero.

00:27:34
Speaker 5: Yeah, not one person.

00:27:37
Speaker 4: They don't have the internet in North Korea. Now, listen to this. This is amazing to me. North and South Korea were divided. I guess it was either before after the Korean War, right into two different countries. South Korea ninety eight percent of the country is on the internet and North Korea zero percent of the country is on the internet. And they are all Koreans that literally were just divided by a line based on politics, and one ended up with ninety eight percent and one ended up with zero.

00:28:14
Speaker 3: Korean part is where I was.

00:28:16
Speaker 4: That's not well, no you're not. They're not letting you go anywhere. I'm reading a book right now about So there's this journalist who snuck into North Korea and a in like an exchange teaching program and wrote a book about it, and it's one of the most fascinating things I've ever read, cause it's like one of the last societies that's just cut off from the world, North Korea, Like it's completely cut off from the world.

00:28:37
Speaker 6: I saw a TikTok recently where someone snuck a phone in and got a thirty second video of like a city and like you barely see people and they're walking in a straight line and everything is spotless. Didn't even look like a real world.

00:28:49
Speaker 4: But I want you to just think about the randomness of Like there are families that were split up, and one of them ends up on the side with ninety eight percent, Shannon, and one ends up on the side with zero percent.

00:28:59
Speaker 3: That would be horrible.

00:29:00
Speaker 2: I'm not impa that Kim Jong un doesn't have access to the internet somehow, well he.

00:29:04
Speaker 4: I mean, maybe maybe it rounds to zero. All right, last question on this. What percentage of the world has been on the internet once in the last three months? The whole world once? So we've already done the extremes we've seen. South Korea's ninety eight, America's ninety three, North Korea is zero. What about the whole world?

00:29:23
Speaker 6: True, I will say slightly over fifty percent. I will say sixty two point five percent.

00:29:32
Speaker 5: Okay, Ryan, I'm gonna go like forty I'll go forty five, one hundred and fifty.

00:29:36
Speaker 3: Percent, seventy one percent.

00:29:40
Speaker 4: True's good. Sixty three percent, sixty two point five, sixty three percent.

00:29:48
Speaker 6: I know the world.

00:29:50
Speaker 4: Well, look at that. So I actually think, Ryan, I think that those are interesting stats, aren't they.

00:29:55
Speaker 5: It's crazy to think about it. The world we live in, there's still people that can't out on the internet or don't get it.

00:29:59
Speaker 4: I'm just confirmed Larry has never been on the internet once and has no design.

00:30:02
Speaker 3: You got to get him on there on time, just to show him.

00:30:05
Speaker 4: That's actually not true. Mom forgets. I help Larry put his car on eBay once.

00:30:11
Speaker 3: So but did he do it or did you do it for him?

00:30:13
Speaker 4: He watched me does no?

00:30:15
Speaker 2: No, he's going to actively engage in clicking buttons.

00:30:19
Speaker 4: Zero, it might be zero.

00:30:21
Speaker 5: He doesn't have an iPhone, right.

00:30:23
Speaker 4: No, he's got an old flip phone with no internet access.

00:30:27
Speaker 3: Yeah, those are popular again, flip phones.

00:30:29
Speaker 4: Yeah, he's never he may If that doesn't count, then he's never been on it. Who's next? Noah, Noah, go ahead and Noah.

00:30:37
Speaker 8: Hey Matt, I got three quick things for you here. So, as a non as a non drunk Bengals fan, I got to say, it's been a very disappointing couple of weeks. But sure, I will say, after hearing your stuff from with the Bears experience, I gotta say I do feel a little bit happy for you. And a few other friends, So I got to give you at least that two. I want to pose that Matt Jones does more renditions of Sunday School songs on live ear radio. That was a very enjoyable experience yesterday.

00:31:08
Speaker 4: Thank you very much. I'm glad I remembered it. It's been a long time.

00:31:13
Speaker 9: Well, it was more of some parts of the butchering that was a bit more fun, but either way with it, it was really fun with it. And three as reputable, sorry as hearing what some notes that you talked about on the postgame show after the Auburn game, as reputable of a man as you are, Matt Jones, it just feels a little bit of a crime against humanity. You have not watched The Lord of the Rings movies, and I will provide whatever in need it needs to be so that you were able.

00:31:38
Speaker 8: To do that.

00:31:38
Speaker 4: Yeah, I have not seen him. I want to. I appreciate the call. I sit down to do it, and then I get distracted. Last night I tried to watch a movie and literally fell asleep during the intro Shannon during the opening credit.

00:31:53
Speaker 3: There's no shame in that I've done the same.

00:31:55
Speaker 4: It was a movie. It's just got on Netflix. It's about like a gambler and it's got Colin Ferrell. It's new what's it called, like Gamble movie on Netflix? And I literally the opening credits were one of those scenes where he's just walking and stuff, and I just fell asleep.

00:32:12
Speaker 3: Off the opening credits. What would you give it? Five fars?

00:32:16
Speaker 4: Well, it looked like it could be interesting, so I'll go forward. But I did not make it, and no one had spoken a piece of dialogue when I fell asleep, so uh so, yeah, I don't know, but I've never seen Lord of the Rings. You haven't either, though, Shannon.

00:32:31
Speaker 3: No, I know I haven't seen any of those.

00:32:32
Speaker 4: Have you all seen it? Ryan Drew.

00:32:34
Speaker 6: I went to the theater on a date in high school when it first came out and was asleep within two minutes and woke up at the end credits. But I paid money to be there. I was a part of the experience.

00:32:45
Speaker 4: It's interesting. Even when I've had sleep problems, I sleep better during movies and TV shows than just in live. I guess it's because your brain is like engaged in something so you don't think, but then can go to sleep. I don't know what the science of that is. But I sleep better if something's on than if I don't. Have you seen it, Ryan, Lord of the Rings?

00:33:11
Speaker 5: I've seen that was there three of them? I think i've seen the first two. Precious, I saw that one.

00:33:18
Speaker 4: I don't think that's I think Precious, that's the Hobbit. That's a different one.

00:33:23
Speaker 5: That's it, though, Yeah, no.

00:33:25
Speaker 4: I mean that's the that's the but you know, the Hobbit is a different book, like the you're talking about.

00:33:29
Speaker 5: Gollum, they're the the Ring.

00:33:33
Speaker 4: No, I've read the books. I've read the books.

00:33:38
Speaker 6: To your point about sleeping in movies, I went to a movie theater last night for the first time in years, and I told my family. I was like, by the way, I'm going to be asleep pretty quickly. This is kind of what I do. Right there at Hamburger. They recline. I hope career. I don't know.

00:33:55
Speaker 4: Good you don't know.

00:33:57
Speaker 6: You literally fell asleep every time. I cannot go to a movie theater that has those reclining seats. It could be a movie I'm so excited about seeing when those lights go down and I lean back, good night, wake me up at the credit.

00:34:07
Speaker 4: I would presume the Springsteen movie was loud though, right because he's playing music.

00:34:14
Speaker 6: While drinking a mountain dew and eating sugary candyfl s.

00:34:19
Speaker 5: That's talent.

00:34:20
Speaker 4: That's a good sign your forties. You fell asleep drinking mountain dew and eating candy watching the Springsteen movie. Clayton and Crum was founded on a simple idea. We'll take a break Barry Beck's Ki Suck Welcome back, take you sports radio. If I'm nine two eight twenty two eighty seven the name of this book, I do highly recommend this. This is a This is like a really interesting book. It's about North Korea. It's called without You, there is no Us. Without you, there is no US. And this woman she like joined this group of people to go teach English to like North Korean uh, like the elite North Koreans their kids. But like she was actually a journalist, so she just wrote about her time there. And I don't want to spoil it, but it's one of the more interesting books I've read, So, I mean, I know I could see Drew reading it. Ryan definitely won't read it. I assume Shannon won't read it.

00:35:43
Speaker 3: I don't read but Drew, I.

00:35:45
Speaker 4: Could see you might like this true Without you, there is no US. And it's a attention but it's about how basically North Korea is cut off from the world. People are trying to guess where those seven percent are so Ryan Amish people, Okay, so they don't get on the internet, but I mean, how many Amish people are there? Though there's not that many, right, I.

00:36:07
Speaker 5: Mean there's communities kind of sprinkled throughout the Midwest.

00:36:10
Speaker 4: I mean, what is it even it's not even one percent of the population.

00:36:12
Speaker 5: Though, right, probably not half half.

00:36:14
Speaker 4: A percent, maybe zero point two percent. Maybe what about somebody says people in prison. Do people people in prison they don't have access to the internet or do they? I don't know. Do they get.

00:36:26
Speaker 6: Certainly once once in a couple months. Whatever we're doing here.

00:36:29
Speaker 5: You got like a little laptop thing that you get you can rent.

00:36:33
Speaker 4: So you can't get on the internet.

00:36:35
Speaker 5: Yeah, I got libraries. Yeah, you can download a book and ready.

00:36:39
Speaker 4: I mean, you know you used to go to the nursing home every day, Shannon. Those people get on the internet.

00:36:45
Speaker 3: No, No, none of them had phones or anything.

00:36:48
Speaker 2: Okay, but I saw So you're asking about the Amish over four hundred thousand Amish in America.

00:36:56
Speaker 4: There's four hundred thousand Amish and there's what three hundred and fifty million people something like that, So it's probably zero point three percent of the population or something like that. You know something, all right? Eight two eighth twenty two eighty seven, One person writes, Matt, I want to know what y're all's expectation and requirement of this team is. Considering that it costs twenty two million dollars, we're going to hear that number drew from now on for the rest of the season, both from critics fans. Twenty two million is going to come up over and over as your factory. Then what you think this team should do? Do you think that number matters? Not at all.

00:37:36
Speaker 6: I'm already tired of people bringing it up. Now, if they finish seventh in the SEC and lose twelve games, yes, then that matter. That number matters, But I don't think that will be the case. If they have a difference in a game or two here there, or maybe you're one round short of a championship, whatever, the number does not matter to me unless it's just an objectively bad and disappointing season.

00:37:58
Speaker 4: Does it matter to you, Ryan.

00:38:00
Speaker 5: I'm and Drew doesn't matter to me at all. Now we've you know, in football, we spend some money on some players that aren't even playing. If that ends up the case with basketball, we spend some money on some of these guys that get have a bad season, then maybe I might have a complaint, But of right now, I don't care what they spend. I just want to go and win the game.

00:38:18
Speaker 4: Doesn't matter to me because it's not my money. And I think this is a unique situation now when we get to revshare, if we as a school intentionally spend our money on basketball instead of football and then the basketball team falters. I think that's a reasonable discussion. But what like private donors give it doesn't really matter to me. Does it matter to you? Shannon?

00:38:43
Speaker 3: A little bit? A little bit?

00:38:45
Speaker 2: You say, what are the expectations? I would say final four is probably the expectations for most of the family.

00:38:49
Speaker 4: So your expectation goes up because of the amount of money A little bit.

00:38:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean, I mean, like Drew said, if they're terrible, then yeah, I think it really matters. But if they go to the Elite Aid instead of the Final four, am I gonna be talking about the twenty two million or whatever?

00:39:02
Speaker 5: No.

00:39:03
Speaker 2: As far as what the requirements are, I mean, there really are no requirements. Like if he gets bounced in the first round, you'll get nothing's gonna happen though.

00:39:12
Speaker 4: And it would have gotten criticism if it was seven million dollars, right, Like, I think that criticism would have come either way.

00:39:18
Speaker 3: Who's up next, Let's go to Kentucky gas.

00:39:20
Speaker 4: Man, Kentucky gas Man, how are you.

00:39:25
Speaker 10: Morning, guys? I got two different things. I wanted to reiterate what Shannon said about YouTube. I've been watching the Kentucky basketball for probably two years free on you No, you started, you started. But anyway, so there's actually about three different guys on there that does it, and you are.

00:39:49
Speaker 4: Don't say their names. You don't say that you're gonna send them to prison. Don't names.

00:39:54
Speaker 10: Okay, I'm not no, no, no no, But anyway, you're exactly right, man. I have noticed over time that the amount of views it could get that it gets that. But like I said, there's three different guys. So all you gotta do is go to one of the other ones from that and get sap uh.

00:40:09
Speaker 4: Another tonight, I'm actually going to try to watch it on YouTube just to see if Shannon ruined the fund.

00:40:16
Speaker 3: For everybody the link for everybody.

00:40:19
Speaker 10: Another thing also depends. It also depends on how high profile of the game is. I noticed that whether or not it gets that. My second thing is I actually have a trick for college football as well. So you guys touched on it a few weeks ago. There is some Spanish broadcasting on different SEC schools and you can actually go on the free ESPN that. Now, keep in mind, I don't have to have commentators or watch football. There is the free ESPN that you can and you can watch the Spanish version for free.

00:41:05
Speaker 4: Now that's interesting. So you're saying for big games, the Spanish commentator announcing is free.

00:41:14
Speaker 10: Huh, yeah, that's funny.

00:41:19
Speaker 4: You say that, that's funny. When before I could get everything hooked up, I was trying to watch I don't know if it was Vandy Texas or whatever. The first game was Saturday, and I noticed that exact thing. I noticed that the Spanish announcers. I thought they were gonna go through the table Shannon like and I and I noticed that it said free, and I didn't click on it. So another good piece of advice. Thank you, Kentucky gas man. I appreciate the call. So you also, I don't know. Do you think we have Spanish announcers Drew for Kentucky Nichols. I'm gonna say no, I don't think so.

00:41:51
Speaker 6: I doubted, but tonight is uh is Robbie Moss. I believe maybe when we get a little Spanish Robbie ma Spanish Robbie Rosie ro tonight, maybe just a little, we could do an alternative broadcast with them.

00:42:06
Speaker 4: Mayamo Robbie uh here to watch Kentucky and Nichols. Well, lots of good tidbits until Shannon gets them pulled off the internet. Lots of good ticket We're gonna talk a little basket or football and some other stuff going on today. Getting you ready. Kentucky and Nichols pregame at four thirty. We'll be right back, OK. Sorry. Hour two
