I'm getting there. 00:00:20 Speaker 2: Okay. 00:00:20 Speaker 1: So at this thing goes around all this time of year. Everybody's sick. I think you started it? 00:00:26 Speaker 2: Yeah, who started it? You started it? I don't know. We're doing this today not feeling the best, but we love answering bachelornation questions and so if you haven't yet, please send in your questions because we love chatting with Bachelor Nation phase. Welcome Guy from Jones season of The Golden Bachelorette. Hey Guy, welcome. 00:00:59 Speaker 2: Hey hire to be on the hot seat. 00:01:05 Speaker 3: I am on the hot seat. 00:01:08 Speaker 4: Turn that hot seat. 00:01:11 Speaker 2: So we thought we're going to we've gotten to know you a little bit, but we want Bachelor Nation, so you know, we're going to get to know you and then we're going to have you help us answer some questions from our Bachelor Nation questions. But in the meantime, before we get to that, tell us what's been going on in your life? 00:01:33 Speaker 4: Let's see. 00:01:34 Speaker 1: Wait, didn't you get sick right after the show too? 00:01:37 Speaker 4: That's where it started, you know, I did. 00:01:42 Speaker 3: It may have been it was the day well, I think I picked it up in Las Vegas because I had gone to Vegas the week before to see the Eagles at the Spear, which is unbelievable. 00:01:53 Speaker 1: Sunday to see our eagles. 00:01:56 Speaker 2: He means the Eagles the music group. 00:01:59 Speaker 1: Since the great I'm talking come on. 00:02:04 Speaker 2: The sphere is is it? Is it? Yes? Music? Go ahead, guy. 00:02:09 Speaker 4: Yeah. 00:02:10 Speaker 3: So that's where I think I picked it up, because it was a day after the finale when I flew home, I started feeling poorly. In the next day aful and I tested positive for COVID. But I'm pretty sure I probably had influenza, just because in the e er we used to test for three batteries of test viruses RSB, influenza, and. 00:02:31 Speaker 4: COVID all at the same time. 00:02:32 Speaker 3: Fifty percent of the people who tested posit for COVID also tested positive for influenza, and so it was It's very common right now, but it is yes. 00:02:42 Speaker 1: Flew, I mean it is influenza. 00:02:45 Speaker 4: Yeah, influenza A B H one and five. You know that means anything or. 00:02:53 Speaker 2: So basically basically where we are, you can tell this is an er doctor because we common people refer to it as the flu. Only a doctor says influenza straight up. Yeah, we both havena. So we're we're making it better, but we want to know, We want to know. I don't know, Susan. Where should we begin? 00:03:15 Speaker 1: What do you want to tell us? What do you want to give you that guy? We'll let you start. 00:03:19 Speaker 2: What would you like us to We'll warm this up slowly? 00:03:22 Speaker 1: Who is guy? Except we know the guy on TV? 00:03:27 Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, you know. 00:03:29 Speaker 3: You know what I will say is and is that the show is actually you know I used from the beginning, I've used the term a transformational journey for me, and yeah, I want to clarify what that means to me, because it means something to each person. But it wasn't just the show that made it transformational. It was the six months leading up to it. A lot of things happened, major milestones in my life that change that just kept putting me into a better spot. One of those is I decided to hang up my stethoscope, as I referred to it, retire after thirty five years of working in the same er and was able to do everything I wanted to do, accomplish everything. I was turning sixty six, I said, you know, it just feels like the right time. 00:04:20 Speaker 4: And that was one of them. 00:04:23 Speaker 3: But you know what, I I'll say, there's five things that this transformational journey. The first thing is, and I don't want to sound too mumbo jumbo psychological, but it's see. 00:04:37 Speaker 4: The first thing is is that I learned to love myself again. Did you marry me. 00:04:42 Speaker 1: This morning on that other podcast because you just quoted me? 00:04:48 Speaker 4: Okay, it's true, but it was true, and. 00:04:53 Speaker 3: Before you have to love yourself before you could love someone else. And so the second thing was, and this was part of what the show helped me with and going through the process, it allowed me to know. 00:05:07 Speaker 4: That I can truly love again. 00:05:10 Speaker 3: And what I mean by that is, I think a lot of times when people get divorced or they're separated, because you can describe love in so many different ways. 00:05:16 Speaker 4: But I broke it down into a love of convenience and a love of. 00:05:20 Speaker 3: Passion and conveniences those people who jump into a quick relationship afterwards because they just need somebody to need something to fill a void. I personally don't need a love of conveyence. I'm looking for that love of passion, that that feeling used to get when you were twenty five years old. 00:05:42 Speaker 4: Maybe most he sounds like you. 00:05:44 Speaker 2: I don't know. Do we have like the same parent things all the time. So I'm taking. 00:05:52 Speaker 3: It so as I was born in Philadelphia, oh see. 00:05:56 Speaker 1: That, and my kids were born in Texas. But are you would you say you are a romantic? 00:06:04 Speaker 4: Yes, very much on your sleeve. 00:06:07 Speaker 1: We're twins should I. 00:06:10 Speaker 4: Mean, there's a there's a reason. 00:06:12 Speaker 3: There's a reason I got emotional on the show. And those emotions were real, they they weren't contrived. You can't you know, I can't can't make it make I can't make myself tear up or cry, you know, for out for no reason. So so there there is that. And my kids always said that you've always worn your emotions on your sleep. You know, I get very sent I'm very sentimental, very nostalgic. 00:06:38 Speaker 4: So those are the two things. The third thing you know. 00:06:41 Speaker 3: In that transparential journey is is I really have established an even better relationship with my poor kids. Not that they didn't have it before, but it's just gotten stronger, you know. And part of those is they get older and more mature. They've become parental to me, you know, and make it eating and I'm doing things, and you know, I'll be going what happened here? 00:07:04 Speaker 4: I was just supposed to come to dad for advice. 00:07:07 Speaker 3: The fourth thing is is that I just kept over those six months, start getting happier and happier. And even when I got on the show every week, you know, when we would go through the rose ceremony and. 00:07:21 Speaker 2: My goal was just to get one rose, I said to my kids, I can't come home the first week it would be totally Yeah. 00:07:29 Speaker 4: So I said, I don't want to come home, And people go, well, how that work out for you? 00:07:35 Speaker 2: Exactly? 00:07:36 Speaker 3: But I you know, I really and I had a wonderful time with my oldest daughter and my one of my sons. So two of my kids down in Atlanta for Thanksgiving. I got to spend time with my grandson, and I got big news that my daughter is expecting again next year. 00:07:56 Speaker 2: Yeah, Okay, I got interrupted because in quite before we jump into what's going on in your life? We have to ask inquiring minds want to know. On the show, Guy, you were wearing your heart on your sleeve, and you know we heard you say to Joan, is there any chance of you changing your mind? How are you feeling now about all that? 00:08:18 Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a really good question. 00:08:21 Speaker 3: And I can tell you when at the at the end of the show, because I was very I was guarded. 00:08:28 Speaker 4: I was shocked, skeptical. At the beginning of the show. 00:08:32 Speaker 3: I just thought, this isn't this is not how you find somebody, you find love. 00:08:37 Speaker 4: I just didn't think it was possible. 00:08:39 Speaker 3: Well, that really changed during the show, and it was for a lot of different reasons, and for me, Joan was a big factor in that. Okay, it was also the camaraderie between the romances between the men were huge because we spent time not talking about golf or football or baseball. 00:09:00 Speaker 4: We talked about our lives and our experiences. 00:09:02 Speaker 3: And I journaled for forty five days every single day anyway, from thirty minutes tou to two hours. On the big days, I wrote twenty pages in a journal. And So, to go back to your original question, Kathy, is is I at the end, I was very I was the emotional the emotions for because I was convinced I had convinced myself that I was Jones. 00:09:32 Speaker 1: Guy, and rightfully so. 00:09:34 Speaker 3: I mean at the end, at the at the end of the Hometown, I was one hundred percent. I said, everybody else is going through the motions, it's me, right, and it got stronger and stronger. I thought we had a very It's not a true overnight, but our time together alone that whole day I thought was magical, as was the hometown. 00:09:56 Speaker 4: And so I was. 00:09:59 Speaker 3: I was mentally in this mindset, Gosh, you can you can learn to love again, you can have those feelings again. 00:10:08 Speaker 4: And so when I got the knock. 00:10:12 Speaker 3: On the door, I honestly had somehow convinced myself that she was there to tell me that I was her guy, not that she was about to let me down, and that her heart lived. 00:10:22 Speaker 2: That was really obvious. Guy. Watching it back, we thought the same thing. I mean, I knew, no, I'm sorry, we know how the show goes, so we knew that. You thought that it was God eared. The way I knock on the door is never a good thing. God. 00:10:40 Speaker 4: I know that now. 00:10:42 Speaker 3: I know that now and I just and but I just I still had my head that I was convinced because that morning when I was interviewed, I light it all out. I said, you know what, I'm going all in. I'm going to meet her kids. I was convinced their kids would really like me. I was ready. 00:11:03 Speaker 4: I was. 00:11:04 Speaker 3: I was ready to even ask them for their blessing. That's how I was set. And then later and thirty minutes later, you know, she knocks on the door, and I still convinced myself, Okay, she's here for the right reason. And then when she has said can we sit down and talk, I was going, oh, this is not going to go well. Okay, then I knew this was not good. So that's that's why when she said that, and then I asked her back, because I just was like, you know what, give me a little more chance, give me the give me that last part. I was supposed to get the chance to meet her family, to spend more time with her. Because really, in retrospect, when I looked at the finale, the after the roast ceremony, she even said live on stage, she said it was all about timing. 00:11:56 Speaker 4: It was she thought that she. 00:12:00 Speaker 3: Said this, and I can't quote the exact words she said, but essentially, you know, if we had more time, there's a good chance. 00:12:06 Speaker 4: That we would be together, you know. 00:12:08 Speaker 3: And so but now now going back up, now I've had four months to like think about it, I tell you I was. I struggled for the first three to four weeks after I got home. 00:12:26 Speaker 4: I kind of isolated quarantine. 00:12:29 Speaker 3: But then you start to assimilate things, you start thinking about it, you spend more time, and then watching the show back was very therapeutic for me because I knew what happened, but you don't know the real details of what happens. And it allowed me to see that. It allowed me and even when I got home after finale, because on the finale I only got to see part of it. I didn't get to see everything that everybody had seen. I watched my part, you know, off stage, off off camera, but I saw nothing else. 00:13:05 Speaker 4: And then I went on stage and that went by like that. 00:13:09 Speaker 1: Isn't it weird to watch yourself showing the notion? 00:13:12 Speaker 3: It's kind of strange, right it is, and it's it's you know, And I tried to warn everybody. I said, you know, I said, just just please please be kind to me, especially you know my male friends who want to harass the crap out of me, Like, really, you had to cry on TV? 00:13:39 Speaker 2: So let me ask you. Let me just turn a little bit here. So we are all of a certain age and when we talk about dating, obviously we're all in our golden years. Here what it means to you? Yeah? What does it mean not only just to be golden but dating? How it looks different relating with your kids? How is being in your golden year? Never mind doing on national TV? How does it feel to be dating and doing this all in your golden years? 00:14:06 Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's. As I've said before, it was a whole lot easier when we were young and in college, or when I was in medical school. It was it was it was easy right because we had not if you met somebody, you were going to mold your life together with them. We're now at this position where our lives have already been molded. Now we got when we meet somebody, we have to meld those forty years together. We have to meld our kids together. We have to meet our family, our own little quirks and personalities that we all possess. We have our filters and our career idea of what we want in a partner that you know when you're younger. It was like, boy, they're really cute. I think I'd like to. 00:14:54 Speaker 4: Go on a date with them and date it. Yeah, exactly right now that worry. 00:15:00 Speaker 2: About what your now I get to worry about what your kids think. 00:15:03 Speaker 4: Sure, I think that it is. 00:15:05 Speaker 1: And you're looking for your companion, somebody you're going to spend the rest of your time with. You get along with, and you enjoy each other's company. 00:15:13 Speaker 4: And that's you know, you know. 00:15:15 Speaker 3: And I talked about the at one point five seeds which turned into more you know, and that was communication, compatibility, uh, connection. 00:15:27 Speaker 2: And car. 00:15:29 Speaker 4: Well there's one more. 00:15:30 Speaker 1: We need one more. What's the fifth one? 00:15:34 Speaker 4: Caring and compromise. You have to be able to compromise. 00:15:38 Speaker 1: That's us compromise communications. 00:15:40 Speaker 3: I will also say the other seeds that have come to mind is comedic. 00:15:45 Speaker 4: Right. I love to laugh. 00:15:47 Speaker 3: I'm self deprecating. The other person has to be able to do the same thing. If they can't laugh, then I think he's asking me out. 00:15:53 Speaker 1: I think he's asking you're talking to the comedy team over here. I mean, that's all we do is laugh. 00:16:00 Speaker 4: Imp And that's why I like you guys. 00:16:03 Speaker 2: But who do who do you have your eyes on? Anybody from our season? 00:16:10 Speaker 3: You know, I will Susan and Kathy I have I have decided. 00:16:17 Speaker 2: You know, I'm not letting them off the hook, because come on, especially after you guys went through everything went through, you guys look terrific. 00:16:26 Speaker 1: Yeah, I just did it again. Look a bit. 00:16:31 Speaker 4: I watch your stuff. 00:16:32 Speaker 3: I'm going they just keep getting better looking, you know, I get you guys. Are you guys are like Benjamin Button. You're going in the wrong direction or the other direction. 00:16:41 Speaker 1: So let me ask you something. Guy, dating prior to the show, yeah, and dating after the show, how does it look different to you? 00:16:49 Speaker 3: What's It's definitely different? I will admit that before the show. So after my separation divorce, I did. I tried to date locally, but in Reno Rino is very small population four hundred thousand. 00:17:05 Speaker 4: It's geographically isolated. 00:17:07 Speaker 3: I mean you have to go four and fifty miles to Vegas, six hundred miles or five hundred miles to Salt Lake City, six hundred of Portland, and two hundred to San Francisco. 00:17:18 Speaker 4: So once you get into your age, can we just stop right there. 00:17:22 Speaker 2: Wait, Susan, do you love the fact that guy has it down to the miles to of those cities? I just don't. 00:17:29 Speaker 1: I like to drive. 00:17:30 Speaker 2: I have a great car. I'll just cruise. Is not that he isn't dating in his neighborhood, but he knows exactly the mileage to these cities. I love to carry one, it is. 00:17:41 Speaker 3: And so so so I went, you know, I tried to date locally, but it just I just wasn't comfortable with. 00:17:48 Speaker 4: That there's nobody here, well there is. It's just that you have to go back and look at my life. 00:17:55 Speaker 3: But you know, my ex and I lived in a fish bowl because she's a politician and so so and then I was the head of the er and nephew. So it's it's it's it's really difficult. They one woman, there's a good chance that that doesn't work out. The next one knows that, one who knows that, one who knows that, one who knows that one. So so it makes a little bit different. I went on dating apps. 00:18:24 Speaker 4: I tried that. 00:18:28 Speaker 3: Yes, it you know, I made a lot of very nice women, but I can tell you for me. And again, this is where the show came in and this transformational journey. 00:18:38 Speaker 4: Is that that I was able. 00:18:42 Speaker 3: Before I thought I was ready, I thought that was you know, I was emotionally available. 00:18:48 Speaker 4: That's the term people like to use. I was not emotionally available. 00:18:54 Speaker 1: The show, you didn't seem one emotionally available, but towards the middle and the end you were open it up. I watched it. 00:19:02 Speaker 4: That's exactly your one. That that is right today. 00:19:06 Speaker 2: Well, you two really understand each other. Wait, I have a question guy. I'm working for you here, Susan, I'm working at I have a question guy. You You and I have talked a little bit, and you have said that dating long distances. That is one thing that constantly comes up when we're talking with Golden's whether male or female, we there's always a distance thing because we all have children, we all have grandchildren. So you know, I've made it pretty clear that if I met and I and Susan I think is in the same boat. If we meet the person for us, I'd be willing to relocate, because that's what air planned it for. I would. I would fly back once a month, you know, run an Airbnb and see my kids. That for me is not an issue for some people, it is not. 00:19:56 Speaker 1: Preying an issue for you. 00:19:58 Speaker 2: Well, guy has said, that's my question because you had said that dating someone you know by coastal or whatever, is it. Well you're renal, but you know what I'm saying, dating someone who lives far away is an issue. But is it an issue just in the initial stages or is it a movie issue for you? 00:20:15 Speaker 4: No, it's just the initial stages. 00:20:18 Speaker 3: Obviously, if somebody is an our flight away, that's that's easier to say, hey, let's have dinner tonight. 00:20:25 Speaker 4: I mean I literally can fly to that. 00:20:28 Speaker 2: For us. He's setting for us. Keep talking about it's getting better all the time in California a lot. 00:20:35 Speaker 4: And then and when you have like let's say, we can do this easily. You know. 00:20:40 Speaker 3: But if I'm going back east, we're looking at you know, like a twelve hour thirteen hour here. 00:20:49 Speaker 1: It's not twelve hours where you stop, it's fours. 00:20:54 Speaker 2: I just want to point out where you live. 00:20:57 Speaker 4: Okay, there's you know, there's be a nonsense. 00:21:01 Speaker 2: I guess I'm in Texas, see you later. You're the one to. 00:21:05 Speaker 3: Stop some city, South Dakota or whatever, wherever. 00:21:09 Speaker 4: It's is located. It would take a little while to get to you know. 00:21:12 Speaker 1: But but you're not opposed to it. 00:21:15 Speaker 3: Absolutely not. And that's actually a conversation I even had with Joan. I said, because I knew that she she's not leaving our family. 00:21:24 Speaker 4: She's so committed she is you know, she is going to New York. That's not as another place, you know. 00:21:32 Speaker 3: I but she's still get to me, spending time, you know, with their children. And I suspect Chuck will be doing the same thing because their families met so much. And and and for me asked to answer your question, is if I found the right person, I the distance wouldn't be the problem. 00:21:51 Speaker 4: I'm retired. 00:21:53 Speaker 3: None of my kids live in Reno, Okay, they live in San Francisco, in Atlanta and San Diego. When I'm used to just move from London, so it would be easy for me to relocate. But what I would say is, at least I'm in the position where I'd say, I'm just going to keep my place in Reno. 00:22:14 Speaker 4: I have another place up in the mountains. It's really fun to go to. 00:22:17 Speaker 3: UH And you have a place, let's say on the East coast or in the Dallas Fort Worth area, or end of all the world, wherever it might be, and so why not just have a place there and a place there. 00:22:31 Speaker 4: Nobody says I pick one or the other. 00:22:34 Speaker 2: I need to tell you. And I'm saying this with all joking. I'm glad you're smiling. You know what you went wrong with Joan? Where you needed to bring keys to the house Mountain House, you needed to bring keys to the house in Reno, and that brings you needed to bring a third set of keys, and say, pick your poison. You would have had or one. 00:22:56 Speaker 1: Guy, there is a golden parady. 00:23:00 Speaker 4: I didn't get the opportunity for that. 00:23:01 Speaker 2: I'm just come on, I know, I know. 00:23:05 Speaker 4: That's part of that last time. 00:23:07 Speaker 3: It's like when I went back and saw Chuck doing I'm going I didn't have a chance. 00:23:11 Speaker 4: After that, I said it was over right. 00:23:15 Speaker 1: So would you be interested if you were asked to go to a golden paradise? 00:23:22 Speaker 3: You know? 00:23:23 Speaker 4: And if anybody know exactly, tell. 00:23:26 Speaker 3: Me what the premise, real premise is behind the golden paradise? 00:23:30 Speaker 2: Drinking loose women, someone dance. 00:23:39 Speaker 1: I'm kidding, because rumor has it they're going to have us seniors as Golden's and if so, who, if anyone, would you like to see on that beach besides Susan, me, besides her. 00:23:51 Speaker 3: Okay, I will say that I didn't get a chance to meet her at the f her party, but she came across so well on the show. 00:24:05 Speaker 4: Was Nancy? 00:24:08 Speaker 3: She seems sweet, she seems very sincere, very kind, she is all of that. 00:24:15 Speaker 2: And then some guy. She's a lovely human being. And I'm going to set she's up on a date that's gonna go three of us. So, but you know the wait, would you go out with Nancy? If I set it up? Will you go out with her? 00:24:31 Speaker 4: Oh? Absolutely? 00:24:33 Speaker 2: Let me get her on the phone. 00:24:37 Speaker 4: I would love to have dinner with her. 00:24:39 Speaker 3: But you know what, I will also say, there are several other women that were on the show that I would love to have dinner with also to have a nice conversation speak. 00:24:49 Speaker 2: Who come on, I've. 00:24:52 Speaker 1: Already asked out twice. Guys, you haven't said yes. 00:24:57 Speaker 4: Well, let's see. I don't know if you know, but Susan, could you talk to Kathy for me? 00:25:02 Speaker 2: Kathy? 00:25:03 Speaker 4: Could you talk? 00:25:07 Speaker 2: You know what you learned a lot from your wife in politics? Let me just tell you that was really smart. 00:25:12 Speaker 1: There, guys, really something boy, you're good. You're good, all right. So what we do is we share some advice with people that write in. Would you like to join us on this one? We're going to read to you what somebody wrote. Kathy, I'll have you read it if you will. 00:25:37 Speaker 2: Okay, So this question is from anonymous. Sometimes people don't like to give their names, and we're good on that. Okay, Hi, Kathy and Susan and today guy, I need your help. I just found out that I this is right up my alley. I just found out that I got rejected from my dream college, and I'm absolutely crushed. All of my friends are going to their top schools and it feels like I'm being left behind. I've decided to go to my local state school for freshman year, and I'm just so upset about it. I was really excited to move somewhere new and have the experience all my friends will be having. What do you suggest I do to feel like I'm not so far behind? Do you think I could transfer next year? Just need some direction right now? I guess thank you. First, let me say I was an educational consultant for thirty five years, not an er doc, so I. 00:26:30 Speaker 4: Can to answer that question. 00:26:32 Speaker 2: I'll take the first crack at this one. First of all, Anonymous, you don't feel it right now, but I promise you it's just like dating. There's more than one guy for you in the world. There's more than one school for you in the world. So things work out for a reason. Go to that state school, meet your friends, join clubs. You will make a place for yourself if you decide. Here's the thing about changing schools after your freshman year. If you don't go and invest in your freshman year and your eye is already on transferring, you're not giving that school of fair shape. So I would encourage you go join the clubs, do all the fun things. Do enjoy dorm life and all the sorority parties, and take every class that you want to take. And then after a year you can transfer your junior year if you want. But I would really encourage you to make the most of the situation that you have. You're going to make great friends, You're going to have great opportunities. Sometimes things work out this way for a reason that would be mine. So go and enjoy yourself. 00:27:36 Speaker 4: What about you, guy, I would say, you know similar sentiments. 00:27:41 Speaker 3: I would say that if it's your local school where you live, if you have the ability, move into the dorm at the university or move into an apartment, you know, with some friends, Like you said, join the clubs, joints, you know, think about sororities. You know, you know a group of people from let's say you're high school, but you don't know them from the other four high schools that are intent. 00:28:07 Speaker 1: That's right, and. 00:28:08 Speaker 3: Once you go there, you may you have the ability to make a whole new set of friends. You don't have to go five hundred miles or one thousand miles away to meet a whole new group of people. 00:28:20 Speaker 2: No, only God has to do that to have a date with Nancy. But that's a whole different conversation. Anonymous, I can't. 00:28:26 Speaker 4: Work, Anonymous, work, I'm not going to college. I've actually done it. Your answer for ten years. 00:28:32 Speaker 2: Really, your answer though, was great. I made the assumption. You're absolutely right, guy, Anonymous. Please do live into the door and move into the dorm or get an apartment, because that is such an important aspect of college life. 00:28:44 Speaker 1: As really as do the best you can do that first year, and then it'll be your choice where you want to go. You'll get it down and get the feel of everything, and you'll feel better about yourself and decide where you want to go. 00:28:57 Speaker 4: Yeah with it. 00:29:00 Speaker 3: I in my experience, and this was I think for people at least when my kids with like high school also, but I think it applies to college where you really at least for me, where I really felt uh connected, was when I got to my sophomore year. 00:29:17 Speaker 4: You're just starting that. You're still trying to steer, feel yourself out. What do you want to do? 00:29:22 Speaker 3: Most of the time you change majors two or three times freshman year. 00:29:27 Speaker 2: And scout you could have my job good for you? 00:29:30 Speaker 3: Absolutely right, So give so give that, give those things and give it a chance and and be all in. 00:29:37 Speaker 4: You know, if it does it feel right, you know, after you knows. 00:29:43 Speaker 2: I'll help you with the transfer application call back. 00:29:46 Speaker 1: It's totally normal to feel like she's feeling you know what I mean? 00:29:50 Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, But you can have a great time at your local school, no question, I. 00:29:56 Speaker 2: Will say to you. From a financial point of view, I recommend to students often go to your local or at least an in state school for your undergrad because so many kids today need to go for a master's or a PhD or a medical or law, whatever it is, and you can go to your local school. It's a lot cheaper, get those prerecs out of the way. There's a lot of good things about doing that. And also, let me just give you another little bit of advice that I used to charge a lot of money for. Make a name for yourself. Make a name for yourself at that school, because those professors will be the ones that are writing your RECs for grad school, helping you get internships, make a name for yourself there. There's nothing wrong with being a big fish in a small local pond. 00:30:44 Speaker 1: This is so true. And then we're going to get to know guy. Now what do you think. 00:30:48 Speaker 2: Okay, Oh, I think we're getting to No guy, We're going to do something a. 00:30:53 Speaker 4: Little different, right, Okay, bring it on. 00:30:57 Speaker 1: So if you were stranded on a desert island, could only bring three guys from the mansion. 00:31:05 Speaker 3: Yeah, two would be very easy. So I my I had the five. There's five guys in my in my room. That was Chuck, Charles, l Gary, and Michael, all really great guys. 00:31:25 Speaker 4: I no question uh that Gary and Charles. 00:31:31 Speaker 3: Were the closest to people that I connected with we got along famously, and I love those guys to the death. And and I've talked to I've talked to Gary several times. Charles not as much because he's so busy. He's Charles l Now he's an icon, you know, maybe, but he did reach out and and we talked a little bit. 00:31:58 Speaker 4: And I would say the third person. 00:32:03 Speaker 2: Susan Cathy. They were the men, the men, the men just trying to help him not struggle so much. 00:32:12 Speaker 3: You know, I will sell I will, I will honestly say, uh, Chalk. 00:32:19 Speaker 2: Cool. 00:32:20 Speaker 3: He was he we because we were, We were because we went to the end. But we were the three, the two left in in our in our room together at the mansion. 00:32:30 Speaker 1: Are you talking did you have did you have the master suite or did were you in one of the smaller. 00:32:34 Speaker 4: We were in the middle ones. 00:32:36 Speaker 3: We're in the middle one that had five so two bunk beds and a single bed. 00:32:40 Speaker 4: I got the single bed because I was the oldest wainsday. 00:32:44 Speaker 2: And I have a question, are you talking to Chalk Have you talked to Chalk or Joan? I forgot to ask you that. 00:32:49 Speaker 3: Yeah, I've talked to Chalk uh several times, never as long as I want, not as relaxed because he's got so much He's he and Joan are moving at warps be. 00:33:02 Speaker 2: Time to find a place in New York. 00:33:04 Speaker 4: Yeah. 00:33:07 Speaker 3: I've not had the opportunity to speak with Joan uh since the finale and then briefly at the after party, and but I have talked to Chalk a few times. But I really want to have that you know, it's going through so much, but I really want to have that conversation with him because we really became. 00:33:28 Speaker 4: We became we became friends. 00:33:30 Speaker 3: We we confided in each other a lot and got to experience, you know, we got to share our backstories with with each other. And that's how it was with Gary. You know, the backstories are the important parts, you know, all. 00:33:46 Speaker 2: Right, My next question for you is, what would you say is your hidden talent? 00:33:56 Speaker 4: Okay, outside of medicine. 00:33:59 Speaker 2: That's not hidden. We all know your our doctor. 00:34:02 Speaker 4: I would I would say. 00:34:06 Speaker 3: I have and it's not as good as it was, but a pretty good memory and unique ability to remember TV theme songs from the sixties and seventies. 00:34:17 Speaker 2: Oh whoa give me uh? Oh, Susan, Let's think of a show in the vernon Shirley. 00:34:26 Speaker 4: Tamil Chamo Hopson. 00:34:28 Speaker 3: Then of course we're gonna do it on your Marskets set and go. 00:34:33 Speaker 1: Down that you an. 00:34:37 Speaker 3: We're gonna make it doing it our way. 00:34:42 Speaker 4: Anyway, Give me another one. 00:34:45 Speaker 1: What's a fun fact about yourself? Say that again, a fun fact about yourself? I think you just shared one with us, really. 00:34:55 Speaker 4: But I did. 00:34:59 Speaker 3: The fun fact is that I will say, and this is really cool about where like social media Facebook can come could really be so. 00:35:12 Speaker 4: Incredible. I reconnected. 00:35:16 Speaker 3: Because of the show with my first grade teacher from Thornton Elementistry in Arlington, Texas. I got this request from Roxanne Mayhew, and I accepted, and I sent a message. 00:35:28 Speaker 4: I said, could you possibly be Roxy Mayhew? My first grade teacher in nineteen sixty four sixty five. 00:35:36 Speaker 3: And. 00:35:38 Speaker 2: She's a singer? 00:35:40 Speaker 3: She she she actually she had seen the show. She saw my name, sure remembered me because I was in her very first class. 00:35:47 Speaker 4: She was no more than twenty three years old. And we reconnected and so sweet. So what I will. 00:35:55 Speaker 3: Say, the fun fact is that it's hard to believe now I was pathologically shy when I was young. Uh, probably all the way up into kind of the junior high. High school is where I started to make a transition. But I mean I was pathologically shy. 00:36:15 Speaker 2: Wow, you know, was that a fear? Because that was one of my questions when you were young, What was your silliest fear? It sounds like you, you know, being called out might have been a fear of yours if you were that shy. 00:36:29 Speaker 1: You know, it's funny you're saying this. Joan said how shy she was on our show when she read that poem My girlfriend and I love her dearly doesn't seem shy to me. 00:36:41 Speaker 3: Yeah, Well, the fun fact is that I was pathologically shy then I am far from pathologically shy now. I mean, you can pretty much get me to do almost anything within reason. 00:36:54 Speaker 1: I know we have to wrap up, but there's just one more thing. Is there anything you've always wanted to do but haven't done yet? 00:37:02 Speaker 4: Mm hmm. 00:37:03 Speaker 3: You know what's interesting the show, which I did not anticipate any of this, clearly did not inticipate the the the attention, the number of things. So I'm having I have some potential opportunities that are out there right now that I think would just be a black well one of them. You know, I I think I think about this is you know, and I don't know how it's gonna turn out. But uh, playing in the at and T Pebble Beach Celebrity pro and golf tournament with you we got that is like off the charts. 00:37:43 Speaker 4: I mean, I have a I have a lesson scheduled at. 00:37:45 Speaker 3: News today because all I want to do is not have to yell out for before I even hit. 00:37:51 Speaker 1: The ball the whole time. 00:37:54 Speaker 2: You know what, It's all about having fun. Guy, It's not about the score, trust me, It's about having fun. 00:37:59 Speaker 3: And that's what I and Okay, little things like there's other there's another really cool thing that might might come up that I have the opportunity that it's it's it's. 00:38:11 Speaker 4: Not my Bailey Wi. 00:38:12 Speaker 3: I mean, I mean, I you know, I mean, I've been in er doctor. 00:38:19 Speaker 4: I've not done acting. I've not done podcasts. 00:38:23 Speaker 3: I've not done I've done podcast I'm dealing with I did podcasts. 00:38:27 Speaker 4: I did podcasts every day with patience. Okay, yeah, you know, and but not not to this extent. 00:38:33 Speaker 1: And now we're in the spirit of a brand new year. One you know, you're going to go play play pebble beach right. Yes, what are some of the things you want to accomplish this year? Have you given that any thought? 00:38:46 Speaker 4: Yeah, the answer is yes. 00:38:49 Speaker 3: I first of all, I want to and this has been hard because I didn't know how much I wanted to do and what I didn't want to do when I first got back from the show. I is ready to just say I want to put this all behind me and I don't want to think about this. I want to just move on with my life. I now, having had this experience, I'm having fun and I'm thinking twenty twenty five as being one of the most fun years that I've ever had, getting to do fun things. 00:39:23 Speaker 2: No, No, he's saying next year, twenty twenty five, I want to be and we'll see to you guy twenty twenty Susan and I said this at the end of twenty twenty three, and twenty twenty four has been a fabulous fun year for us, and we're not stopping.
