The Patriots were five and a half point favorites, now down to four and a half against Fritzy's Broncos. The Rams are still getting two and a half against the Seahawks eight seven seven three DP show operator sitting by and that's Tyler. Good morning. If you're watching on Peacock, thank you for downloading the app. Speaking of the Broncos and the Patriots, a little trash talk back and forth coach with the Broncos, player with the Patriots. We'll have that for you coming up. Not exactly, you know, it used to be real trash talking. I don't know if anybody has a bulletin board by the way in the locker room, like that's bulletin board material. I don't know if they have one in the hallway you walk by and you see if there's anything that's said there. But we'll have that for you coming up as well. So the AFC NFC title games coming up this weekend. The Ravens got their coach, replacing John Harball with Jesse Minter who was there for a few years under John Harbaugh. And Mike McDaniel is going to be interviewing with the Buffalo Bills for what I'm told he I thought he was signing with the Chargers as they're OC but I think he's interviewing today in Buffalo. This is the former Dolphins head coach. If you're a Dolphins fan, are you nervous that you would have Mike McDaniel staying in the division coaching Josh Allen in the Buffalo Bills or are you excited that Mike McDaniel is going to be going to Buffalo maybe in coaching Josh Allen. I think it's an interesting move if it happens, because I think you got to if you're shaking things up, you're getting rid of Sean McDermott, then really shake things up. And if you bring in Mike, and I think he's a great offensive mind, he's not gonna have to work as hard with Josh Allen as he did with Tuatongua Iiloo. But it's just an interview because Mike turned down an opportunity or took his name out of the running for an interview with the Browns, and we thought that he had agreed to a contractor was going to with the Chargers, which I thought that's a great pairing with Harball. Now you get the opportunity to go into Buffalo. Now if I'm Buffalo, and I've said this before, I interview everybody because I want your input. I want Mike McDaniel from a dolphin's perspective to tell me about my team, can't lose no harm. Tell me what you think, What did you try to do against Josh? What are we missing here? Who's somebody might be better than what we think? It'd be great if he said Keon Coleman. You know the guy I really like is Keon Goleman. So that's going to happen today. Also, this is the deadline for the College Football Playoff Committee to decide if they're gonna go to sixteen teams or they're gonna be staying at twelve. I don't think there's going to be any ruling that they would go to twenty four. From what I've been told, and I've been telling you, the Big Ten wants to go sixteen, sixteen, sixteen, and then you go to twenty four. That's what the Big Ten wants in writing. I don't know if everybody's on board with that. I think, you know, going to sixteen is one thing, then going to twenty four in three years, That's what I've been told the Big Ten is looking for. But if they can't decide it stays at twelve at least for this upcoming year. All Right, Seaton Poll question for hour one is going to be what. 00:04:45 Speaker 3: We're gonna go with one from the tub d here, how do you feel when your team quote chirps before a game? 00:04:51 Speaker 2: Love it hated Sean Payton doing a little chirping. You know what, let's let's let's play it here. Here's Sean Payton. Here's your trash talk, here's your bulletin board material. 00:05:04 Speaker 4: Do you have a message for them this week with the team final game? 00:05:07 Speaker 2: Well, and they're gonna have plenty of rest after this one two weeks, So that means that they're gonna win the game and then they get an extra a week and then they play the super Bowl. Well, the Patriots responded, as only they can. Kayshawn Booty had this to say to Sean Payton's response two weeks for the rest. 00:05:30 Speaker 3: Of the say, does that matter you guys? 00:05:37 Speaker 2: Okay? What he was saying is that they can rest up. They'll be in Cancun. That's it. I don't know that. Uh, you know, it's it's not like the old days with Buddy Ryan or something, you know, bounty Gate or any this is just a hey, we of course, Sean Payton thinks they're going to win, and the Patriots think they're going to win. Okay, not a big deal, Yes, Ton, it's not. 00:06:06 Speaker 5: Exactly Joe Namath calling that he's gonna they're gonna upset the Cult to super Bowl three. But still, you know, for me, anyway, I'd rather, you know, not make predictions or hinted predictions in any clever way, like we're winning this game and then we're no. 00:06:19 Speaker 2: Wait, okay, is this bulletin board of material? Do you think that the Patriots and Mike Rabill go, hey, the Broncos think they're going to win stretch, Yes, they they think. Now that would be interesting if he said, boy, I don't know, maybe if we win this and then you know, we get another week off. But they're a tough opponent, I got I don't. I mean, we're desperate to get something to spice this up, I guess. But the fact that it went from five and a half to four and a half is kind of interesting here. And once again, Vegas isn't rooting for anybody. They don't pick sides. They're trying to get the most money and dropping it down a little bit. So you got some Bronco money here, Yes, Marvin. 00:07:00 Speaker 6: At this point in the season, do you need bulletin boar material? You're trying to go to the Super Bowl? So who cares? If Sean Payton says you have two weeks to rest up? 00:07:09 Speaker 2: I agree. 00:07:09 Speaker 6: Shouldn't you be already fired up even before he says. 00:07:12 Speaker 2: That this doesn't fire you up? Wow? The coach of the opposition thinks they're going to win the game and they'll get two weeks off. I hope he thinks they're going to win. By the way, Todd is apoplectic about this betting line. He just can't understand that. Now when out's four and a half, do you feel a little better about your Bronco a little bit? 00:07:37 Speaker 5: Yeah? Because I thought it'd be make three and a half. Maybe I'm all in too much on Stitty and what I've read and heard about him, But five and a half in Denver. 00:07:44 Speaker 2: You would be favored if bo Nicks was playing one and a half. Yeah that's where it was. Or yes, yeah, he's about fair Okay, Yeah see. 00:07:52 Speaker 3: I think that's actually the problem, though, is that people are excited about what they've read and heard about Stitty because they haven't seen him play in a couple of years. That's actually the whole issue. That's the whole Hey, I've read a lot about this guy. It sounds like he's going to be pretty good. 00:08:07 Speaker 2: It's it's almost as if we're going on folklore, like man Stitty Man when he was with the Patriots and didn't play. He's really bright when Stitty was with you know, we start talking about these sightings of him, but their practice. He's playing what five games in his career started, five games hadn't played in a couple of years. 00:08:30 Speaker 5: Yes, So as Vegas themselves buying into the hype a little bit, what made it go from five and a half to four and a half all of a sudden the gate a second. Maybe five and a half's too much? 00:08:37 Speaker 2: No, that's the money. 00:08:39 Speaker 5: Yeah, No, I understand that. But I'm just saying in general, even just a regular better, you know, taking the mafia out of it or whatever. Are the people that crunch all the numbers. 00:08:47 Speaker 2: It's not the mafia. 00:08:48 Speaker 5: It's interesting, I didn't go from five and a half to six and a half with the question mark that has did, and we went from five and a half to four and a half, So all of a sudden, it's giving too many points. Do you understand how this work is I'm not a better a vague idea, Yes. 00:09:00 Speaker 2: I don't even think you have a vague idea. Uh, it's money now the money is coming in on Denver. So now they moved to four and a half. 00:09:10 Speaker 5: But the over under is totally determined by Vegas. Number crunches right. 00:09:15 Speaker 2: Yes, the opening line, but that can change as well that with the money the over under. 00:09:23 Speaker 5: How many times is it supposed to change? 00:09:25 Speaker 2: You're going to be okay? Like you were a mess this morning. Before we started the. 00:09:29 Speaker 5: Show, I thought there was disrespect for the Broncos defense to the fact that they're playing in mile high there's a quarterback who's not just a piece of garbage that just you know, you get caught up in the word backup where oh Nix isn't the one playing? And then it was five and a half. I thought that was too hard. Granted, I thought three and a half, which is only a two point difference, would be a lot more reasonable, but five and a half seemed like a lot And all of a sudden, now it's four and a half. Maybe it'll even be three and a half before kickoff. 00:09:50 Speaker 2: Slow down, slow down. You got a long time before kickoff? Okay, there is a long time, I know. But you got your bronco Geir. 00:09:58 Speaker 5: Got my Carl Mecklenberger, got the old school logo. 00:10:00 Speaker 2: You got your pajama pants on, you got your sweat bands, you got your hat on, You're ready to go. You underwear and you know I wear underwear this time, Royal Blue underwear. Yah seton. 00:10:11 Speaker 3: I love the sweatbands. Like wristbands. I know, I'm not sure what they you know, a little hands are a little drippy. 00:10:20 Speaker 5: I went back in the house because my Royal Blue wristbands. 00:10:22 Speaker 3: I do think Todd has a good point. I just think he's delivering it the wrong way. People are putting a lot of just in that one quarterback move and forgetting about all of the other factors. It's not like Drake May necessarily is this proven force in the playoffs. 00:10:36 Speaker 2: Either. 00:10:37 Speaker 3: He's had six terrible quarters back to back to back to back to back. I think he's had eight turnovers in the last six quarters. It's very possible for it, you know, maybe not which quarterback wins the game, but which one doesn't lose the game, and Jared Stidham could be very capable of not losing the game and letting his defense win it. 00:10:55 Speaker 2: Well, you would think that Sean Payton would probably have a reduce used workload for Jared Stidham that he's not going to give him the Bonick's playbook. I wouldn't think he said he's gonna let him let it written. Yeah, well, Mike Rabel's gonna let Drake may let it rip. And you know, so he hasn't, but he hadn't played well. 00:11:16 Speaker 3: He is not he has not played well in the playoffs. 00:11:20 Speaker 2: His legs might be more important than his arm in this game against that Denver defense. But hey, Patriots played well. These are good defensive teams. And when it was five and a half, I certainly like the Broncos at five and a half at home, you're just asking your quarterback and just don't do anything crazy. It's all. You don't have to try to be Caleb Williams or you know, Josh Allen. Don't don't do anything like that. Just take what they give you. That'll be enough in our defense. So Todd, I'm kind of well. I was at five and a half, now four and a half. I don't know at one point. Now you feel a little better about things, well, I want you to feel a little better about things because you were. You're a sad boy this morning. 00:12:06 Speaker 5: I'm glad they're underdogs. I prefer them being in the underdog role. I just thought five and a half for whatever reason that, I was like, wait, they've got way too many other elements to that team other than you know, as good as bo Nix is and Stidham's a question, but who cares? 00:12:19 Speaker 7: I do? 00:12:19 Speaker 5: Obviously I'm very. 00:12:20 Speaker 2: Bad, I know, But who cares what people think in Vegas thinks? And all you need to care about is your team. 00:12:27 Speaker 5: Have at least one more point than the Patriots. When I say your zero is there at the end of. 00:12:31 Speaker 2: The fourth quarter, how good will it feel being a four and a half point underdog and you win the game and you're going to the super Bowl? That is very you beat the world. 00:12:40 Speaker 5: I don't know why I got caught up in the number, but I saw that five and a half. We went from one and a half to five and a half. Depicity was like six point jump because we have a different quarterble. 00:12:49 Speaker 2: Because everyone's running the headlines between the Patriots and the. 00:12:53 Speaker 5: Seahawks too. 00:12:55 Speaker 2: We were at one point we're just sitting around talking and Seaton looks at me. I look at him, and we just started laughing. Listen to this, dude, because you were you were just talking to yourself, not to mention. 00:13:08 Speaker 5: Not understanding how betting works. Are having to come up with the pointsprit? 00:13:11 Speaker 2: Yeah, I said, hey, it's okay, now, it's only four and a half. We won't even play the game then at this point, and I'll just give By the way, Todd, you don't get those points, Okay, I don't know. They don't give you four and a half to start. I mean, I would love to see that the scoreboard where Bronco's up four and a half. Doesn't that? No, it does not. All right, see watch the focus. 00:13:32 Speaker 3: Yeah, we're going with how do you feel about your team chirping before a game? Love it or hate it? I hate it. I hate chirping before a game. 00:13:40 Speaker 2: Okay, I eat it. I don't know what chirping means anymore. Now, it's not like you know, you're putting a bounty on people. It's just hey, and you're going to be in Cankun in two weeks. 00:13:54 Speaker 8: Wow. 00:13:55 Speaker 2: Now, we're really going to play hard. 00:13:56 Speaker 9: You know what. 00:13:57 Speaker 3: CanCon Tourism should do the opposite of the I'm going what a Disney World. They should get the losing guys and be like, hey, what are you doing here? You're going to Cancun though, that's man huh. 00:14:05 Speaker 2: So when they talk to Jared Stidham after the game and they say he stady, where are you going? And he says, can coon Ben, I'm just n that's not you know what I'm gonna do. If the Broncos lose, I'm gonna send you to Cancun. How's that with the team to hang out with you? 00:14:22 Speaker 5: Yeah, I'll be fun. 00:14:23 Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, hope that's not what happens. 00:14:25 Speaker 5: But I'll hang out with Franklin and the receivers and. 00:14:28 Speaker 2: Sudden yet good time. 00:14:29 Speaker 8: Great. 00:14:30 Speaker 5: I do think that your play should be to do the talking and then afterwards if you feel like you need to take a shot after you've thirty won, but before the game. That's why why. 00:14:38 Speaker 3: It's okay once again, come on showing it. 00:14:41 Speaker 2: Okay, Sean Payton thinks he's gonna win, that's not a headline. Yes, Marvin, you know the Rams played the Seahawks this weekend too. Oh that's right. Wait, is there any trash talk in there? 00:14:54 Speaker 6: No, nothing juicy. 00:14:55 Speaker 5: I heard Matthew Stuffard say my finger is fine. 00:14:57 Speaker 2: What does that mean? 00:14:58 Speaker 5: Take it a shot, don't worry about my figure. 00:15:01 Speaker 2: Yeah, his finger where he can hold it up as number one. That's that's the only finger that matters here. All right, we're just getting started. 00:15:08 Speaker 9: Now. 00:15:09 Speaker 3: Let me look up who the Seahawks head coaches to see if he said anything. 00:15:14 Speaker 2: Wow, that is mean spirited. 00:15:16 Speaker 3: Like easily one of the most anonymous coaches in the NFL this year. 00:15:19 Speaker 2: Well, it's because of the McDaniel and McDaniels and McDonald, mc dermott, mcdammit. 00:15:27 Speaker 3: Too many mics, too many, too many mix. 00:15:30 Speaker 2: Too many mix. All right, I'm gonna take a break. Interesting interesting quote from Ben Roethlisberger, and I agree with him. I'll have that for you coming up. 00:15:43 Speaker 1: Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio wap. 00:15:52 Speaker 10: Hey Is Cabino and Rip from Fox Sports Radio Now, in addition to hearing us live weekdays from five to seven pm Eastern two to four on Fox Sports Radio. All you gotta do search Covino and Rich FSR on YouTube again, go to YouTube search Covino en Rich FSR. Check us out on YouTube, Subscribe, hit that thumbs up icon. 00:16:22 Speaker 2: Comment away play of the day coming up. Charles Barkley complains that he wants to work more, and Ben Roethlisberger has something interesting to say about what the Steelers should do at quarterback. But I'm going to expand that to what I think the Raiders should do. They're on the clock with the number one overall pick. By the way, if you're watching on Peacock, you just saw the bet with the back row Seatan Patriots Fritzy Broncos and we do the pie to the face, and Seatan said, can we come up with another way, you know, for the loser to pay off the bet? Setan, you want to explain it? 00:17:00 Speaker 3: Yes, So I have this idea where we do calling it. The caller is always right, So whichever team loses, say the Patriots lose, the Broncos beat the Patriots that Monday. When the callers call into the show, they might say, like, hey, Seeton, you know the only reason that the Patriots wherever any good is because they cheated every year. I'd say, absolutely, you're so right about that end. They probably haven't gotten called with half of the things that you're doing. Or if the Broncos lose, the Patriots end up winning and a caller calls in and they might say something like, well, I think John Elway anyways, like the most overrated quarterback of all time. Todd would then have to support that argument. It'd say absolutely, it's crazy that nobody had seen just how overrated he is a quarterback anyway, Dan Marino is way better? 00:17:45 Speaker 2: Are you okay with this? Todd? 00:17:46 Speaker 5: My example would be they got blown out thirty nine, fifty five ten. What other quarterback would allow their team to get blown out worse and worse with each passing Super Bowl? 00:17:55 Speaker 2: Okay, so the caller is right, The. 00:17:58 Speaker 3: Caller is always right. Yeah, so we whoever loses, has to agree with whatever callers call in and throw at them. 00:18:04 Speaker 2: Okay, that's Monday, as we always do. Best and Worst of the Weekend. Ben Roethlisberger has a podcast Footballing with Ben Roenflisberger and he was asked about what the Steelers should do at quarterback. 00:18:19 Speaker 11: I would not draft a quarterback for at least two to three years. That's just just my opinion. The issue that I see with a lot of teams is they get a quarterback and they try and build around that quarterback. 00:18:31 Speaker 2: I think it should be the other way around. 00:18:32 Speaker 11: I think you should build a team and put your quarterback in it. It happened to me. I had a great football team. They plugged me in. We had a veteran group. It just it works. It works better than trying to grab a quarterback and be Okay, we're gonna build around this quarterack, because then it's going to take you four or five years to build around that quarterback. He's probably gonna look like pooh up to it, and then you're like, is he really our guy? Is he not our guy? 00:18:57 Speaker 2: All right? So let's look at this on a your picture here. You know, if the Steelers want Ty Simpson or they want to get somebody in the second or third round. Okay, But I understand what he's saying because I'm going to apply this to the Raiders. The Raiders have a bad team. They have a terrible offensive line, one of the worst in the NFL. Yes, they'll try to improve upon that in the off season. But you're going to draft Fernando mendoz in number one, and you're going to ask him to go in there and be great or be good or very good. And it won't happen overnight. It won't happen in that first year. Now, you do have Brock Bauers in Ashton genty, okay, but I don't have an offensive line. And I always go back to Andrew Luck. Andrew Luck was generational. He was going to be the next John Elway. Can't miss until you go to an organization that got him but didn't improve their offensive line. Until they did improve their offensive line, and Andrew Luck was done playing. He was tired of being beat up. I don't know if Fernando Mendoza is a great quarterback. I think he's a great story, but I wouldn't once again, I would not draft him number one if I'm the Raiders. If I'm the Raiders, I say to the Arizona Cardinals, Hey, you interested, how about the Colts If you don't want Danny Dimes or maybe you do have Danny Dimes and you bring in Fernando Mendoza, keep him in Indianapolis. But if I'm the Raiders, I need help. Why can't I trade down? How many gms are fired or coaches fired because they passed on somebody. Usually you get fired because you went up and got somebody. You know, you said we got to go all in on Trey Lance. Although nobody got fired with that. Mitchell Trubisky, We're going to go up and get him. If I'm the Raiders, I traded. I want to say, see what's out there. You don't have a coach yet. I mean, that's a tough situation for this kid to go into. He just officially declared for the NFL Draft, and the Raiders, by all accounts, are going to take him. But I would not. And it might be one of those where, man, you passed up on a generational talent. I don't think he's a generational talent. I think he's a great kid to have. Is the face of your franchise and maybe you can build around him. I mean, Indiana, let's not lose sight of this. Indiana had a great team, great team, balanced team, both sides of the ball. His numbers weren't great, but he was great when he needed to be. Is that enough to pin your hopes on that guy with your team in that town. I wouldn't do it, Yeah, Pauline. 00:21:57 Speaker 12: And this really isn't about Mendoza or slight Mendoza. It's about the Raiders situation. Like you said, the offensive line is terrible, and if you can get Arizona or other to overpay, now you reset your team with all those draft picks. 00:22:10 Speaker 2: Like Ben Roethlisberger saying, what's the draft order? 00:22:13 Speaker 11: There? 00:22:13 Speaker 12: It's Vegas first, Jets second, Arizona Cardinals third, all three. 00:22:18 Speaker 2: D quarterback, and the Jets can do something stupid like you could say to the Jets, you know you want Fernando Mendoza. Because we're now looking at Sam Donald and saying Sam wasn't really the problem. The Jets are the problem. I mean Sam Donald played very high level football last year. I know what happened in the postseason, and here he is maybe on the cusp of going to the Super Bowl. Sam Doarnold wasn't the problem. But let's go back to that draft. Sam Donald was the safe pick. That guy. You know what, maybe you don't have a high high. But you know this, the floor is, you know, not low. He's a good kid, makes the right decision, comes from a big program. Yeah, he's going to help the Jets. Well, you don't have a team around him. It's not like Mark Sanchez when he went to the Jets. The Jets that was a good team, went to a couple of AFC title games. But I'm bringing Fernando Mendoza in there. This could be a situation that's similar to David Carr, Derek Carr's brother, when he went to the Texans. And I thought David Carr was a really talented quarterback and I still feel like he's a really talented quarterback. But he went to a terrible team. He got sacked more times than any other quarterback in history over the first three years, and he was done. Now he resurfaced elsewhere, but he was done. He was not a franchise quarterback. I don't want to take away. I don't want to kick you in the shin as soon as you walk in. 00:23:53 Speaker 3: Yes, it does feel like you'd be asking Fernando Mendoza to do a hell of a lot. Yes, right out of the gate, Yes, and maybe shoring up a bunch of other positions for a year or two and then bringing in a quarterback after that could make a lot of sense. There's lots of talent in the draft that might not all be quarterback talent, but there's certainly other short things in there. 00:24:12 Speaker 2: Well, that's just it. You got Mendoza, who is the number one pick, But it's not a deep draft when it comes to quarterbacks here. I mean, if arch Manning's available, okay, but even then I wouldn't put arch Manning in that situation with the Raiders. And it could be generational. You could get a generational talent. I've just seen it too many times where you reach for somebody or you expect them to be great, and you throw them in there and then you go, hey, we got our franchise quarterback. He's getting the health it out of it, but we got our franchise quarterback. I want to go in knowing the first thing I have is a good offensive line. That's it. I got to have an offensive line, and if I don't, he's going to get in bad habits and that's not going to benefit anybody. But if I'm the Raiders, I know I'm on the clock, I would certainly I would be shopping that number one overall pick. I would check with the Jets, I'd check with Arizona. You just want to get one team that overpays, or if you get two in a bidding war, then you get a treasure trove here. Now you got some draft picks, But it goes back to what I always say. You can have draft picks, who is the one making those draft picks. That's the important part of this as well. Look at what we got, okay, but who's making the picks the guy who made these other picks that kind of put us in this position. But Mendoza going in there, there's nothing he does that is electric. Nothing that he does where you go, well, you know what, he can run like Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson. He can get out of trouble. He can't. But we've seen him, you know when he's in the pocket and he you know, it's going to be labeled as deceptively athletic. But it's not enough for me to go. I got my quarterbacking position. I got it solved, because I don't. I got to get my offensive line solved. And then, and I agree with what Ben Roethlisberger's saying, Ben, you know, we've had Jerome Vettis on and he said Ben was scared to death when he was in the huddle that first Super Bowl. And that's with all that veteran talent around him. He had an unbelievable team with Pittsburgh. But you're asking somebody to come in and play big time football and you can't lean on Hey, I got a great team surrounding me, because you don't. And that's what would concern me. We tend to do it the other way around. It's get the quarterback and then build around him. I got to build around him so when he comes in, it's a little bit softer landing, and you know Vegas is not a soft landing at all. Yes, Marvin, And it. 00:27:06 Speaker 6: Doesn't help when you're going to play the Chiefs Chargers in Broncos six times out of the year. 00:27:11 Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, eight seven to seven three DP show email address Dpadanpatrick dot com, Twitter handle a TP show once again. I don't know if anybody got fired because they didn't draft Patrick Mahomes. I know Sean Payton said we were going to draft him and then Kansas City swooped in. People pass on quarterbacks it's when you when you reach for a quarterback, that's when you can get fired. Chris and Syracuse, Good morning, Chris, what's on your mind? 00:27:41 Speaker 5: Hey? 00:27:41 Speaker 4: Thanks Dan, I got a couple of things to throw at you. And off of the Patriot Brocco game, you guys have been talking about one thing. I'd like if New England made it to the Super Bowl and won with a Mike Brable at head coach and a Drake May at quarterback, maybe would put to rest that tired question of who deserves credit for newl and that's success Belichick, Er Brady, and last night Steh Curry took an NBA record setting ten thousandth career three point attempt and he's made over forty two percent of them. You wonder if the NBA never had the three pointer and those four thousand, two hundred and twenty two to three pointers of his I'll just were Jham long two pointers, how different his popularity, especially with young fans. 00:28:23 Speaker 2: Would have been. 00:28:24 Speaker 4: I mean, his legacy is cemented by all the titles, but the three point shot has always defined as super stardom. 00:28:31 Speaker 2: He doesn't have that career without the threes. I mean, that's what he's known for He changed the game, and I think he had eight threes. Last night he had thirty seven points. They lost to Dallas. But if I'm a Golden State fan, this might be what you're saddled with for the final years of his contract. Now, Reggie Miller was on yesterday. We did talk about Jannis and will he get traded. Soon after we were done with our conversation, there was conversation about Yannis maybe going to Golden State. Now, I don't know what you're offering, but that's kind of been discussed for a while now, maybe the last year and a half of could they come up with a trade that would Playkate Milwaukee here and what does Golden State have to give up? So that would be something that I would keep an eye on, and we will keep an eye on that obviously with the honest But could you see where they take one more swing here and try to get enough talent around stuff that they can make a run. 00:29:39 Speaker 6: Yes, Marvin, but even if they don't, even if they're not competitive, you'll take the four rings that you got with Golden State. It's almost like Kobe in this last year's man. They're not all that great, ay, But we'll take the five championships that he brought us to the city. 00:29:52 Speaker 2: Oh yeah, but you know you're still greedy. Those fans don't show up. Go you know what, man, those four rings. They're like, no, we're in the moment here, we should be winning these games. We're not winning these games. We're not one of the favorites in the West. It's hard to come to that realization where you're like, wait a minute, we're not that good. Steve Kerr may not be back with his team next year. Just saying David in Ohio, Hi, David, Hey Dan, happy to meet Friday. Nobody. 00:30:26 Speaker 7: I've got a right Monday's headline today for you. He went to Jared Sean Payton's Broncos get one step closer to the Ring. 00:30:37 Speaker 2: Thank you? Okay, thank you, David. Oh you approved that day. 00:30:42 Speaker 5: That's fun. I liked they went to Jared Ring. I like it. 00:30:47 Speaker 2: Cooper Flag had twenty one and eleven in the win. Steph ended up with thirty eight and eight three pointers. Still amazing, Still amazing that when you're around Steph and you know, we saw him in Tahoe, and if I said to you and you didn't know what he did for a living, and I said, that guy is the greatest shooter in the history of the NBA. You'd be like, wait, nobody guarding him right because he now he's he's a little bit bigger than what you think, a little bit taller than what you think. But his handle and his ability to get that ball off. That's what I would tell if you're a coach and you're teaching younger kids, teach them to get the ball off quickly and not rush it, but get it off quickly. The last dribble should be a harder dribble to have you get up if you can, you know, at that age, jump up a little bit. Jerry West did this better than anybody. Last dribble, boom up. But to get that ball away quickly, because there are a lot of people who can stand out there and just shoot. It doesn't mean anything, and you can get that ball away. By the way, this is also the anniversary when Klay Thompson had thirty seven in a quarter, which is still that's one of those and he took like, what nine dribbles or something, Marvin show us some love, eleven eleven dribbles and he scored thirty seven in one quarter. That's a lot of points in a quarter on this day. Thank you, see thank you John. 00:32:26 Speaker 3: That's not typical. 00:32:27 Speaker 2: No, it's not. Yes, all right, we're gonna take a break, all right, take a break, come back. Play of the day. More phone calls as well, early poll results. We're back after this. Check this out. 00:33:03 Speaker 13: Safferson challenging Crosby up top shade the metal redacted by Crosby three And to think Pittsburgh, it's been an absolute blitzkrag here in the first three minutes and the Penguins have scored three. 00:33:20 Speaker 10: Goals in thirty seven. 00:33:23 Speaker 2: Seconds courtesy is Sports and at Pittsburgh. Sidney Crosby has six hundred and fifty two career goals and that sounds really impressive. And then people will say, yeah, but you played when Alex Ovechkin played and he has nine hundred and seventeen not apples to apples, but Sidney Crosby, great, great player. Wow, that's earth shattering Sidney Crosby, great, great player. Yes, Don, How does. 00:33:51 Speaker 5: A goal explain himself giving up in thirty seven second to three goals? What could you possibly tell the. 00:33:56 Speaker 2: Team and your coach just sa, I'm sorry. If he didn't do anything, he had a better chance to probably stop it. Nem I mentioned that it was on this day in twenty fifteen Klay Thompson made nine three pointers and scored thirty seven points in the third quarter, thirty seven in the quarter as the Warriors beat the Kings. Who holds the all time record for points? So is that the most? Thirty seven is the most by anybody in the history of the NBA in one quarter? It is? 00:34:48 Speaker 12: He was, like you said, nine for nine from three, hit all thirteen shots, and he broke the record that two guys had one guy with a little more old school, Aba NBA guy, another guy known for shooting a little more modern. Who would like to guess those guys each had thirty three points? 00:35:06 Speaker 2: Oh? Okay, that was the old record, Yeah, Marvin George Gervin. 00:35:12 Speaker 12: George Gervin's correct. 00:35:13 Speaker 2: Wow, bloop bloop blue and then then the other one is a modern day Yeah. 00:35:19 Speaker 12: He retired maybe five years ago. 00:35:22 Speaker 2: Known for shooting, Marvin. 00:35:28 Speaker 12: Real, known for almost exclusively shooting twos and threes, not just three. 00:35:34 Speaker 8: Uh. 00:35:36 Speaker 2: Then he retired. 00:35:40 Speaker 12: Twos and three like all over the place, more of a two point shooter than a three point shoot. In studio guest in New York City, Carmelo Anthony mamel Anthony's correct. He had thirty three points against the Timberwolves back in two thousand and eight. 00:36:13 Speaker 2: A couple of phone calls in here, we'll take the poll results. Buddha in San Francisco. Hi, Buddha, welcome back. 00:36:21 Speaker 9: No buddy, happy to meet Friday Boys. Remember Todd win or lose, we celebrate. Well, Dan, it's coming to USA, and I'm rooting for Seattle and Denver Broncos baby this week and I can't wait for. 00:36:35 Speaker 14: Sunday Fun Day. But Dan, I'm calling in to it because I saw something that got my attention earlier this week and I wanted to ask you guys about it. This kid from Oh Miss, Michael Asasso. He gave up his master spot and is joining Phil Mickelson and the Live Golf Tour. I was like what, and like Dan, it got me thinking also like Live Golf should turn into a version of like this Savanna bananas. I mean, they're they're paid no matter what. What's the real competition? I mean there's the money's not an issue. It would be actually way more entertaining, which would be like the value and interest here and they have they could have crazy holes and impossible trick shot attempts and any of the crazy antics they want to come up with, and otherwise live goaalf's just going to remain not. 00:37:21 Speaker 2: Good, Thank you, Buddha. Lift Tours still living. And I don't know what the endgame is going to be. Are you going to any get anybody else who's going to go? There? Is anybody else going to come back? It might be just they kind of survive in spite of themselves. Well, the PGA Tour is going to survive. It just what is you know you're going to make your money, but what else? And if that's all it is and you're fine with that, great. I would just think the competitor in you would want to be able to play in events in the States in front of people that you know become your fans, are already your fans. You get to play in the big events because you're playing. I don't know where the live tour is like this week, there's very little publicity. 00:38:18 Speaker 12: Yes, Pauli, they're in Saudi Arabia in early February, that's when their season starts. Then Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore or South Africa. 00:38:27 Speaker 2: I mean, it's nice to be able to go on vacation, but after a while you get tired of traveling. Doug in Iowa, Hi Doug, what's on your mind? Good morning, Dan, Good morning. 00:38:41 Speaker 8: I would like to speak to Fritzy if possible. 00:38:43 Speaker 2: All right, Fritzy, Doug would like to talk to you. 00:38:46 Speaker 5: Sure, Fritzy. 00:38:49 Speaker 8: I'm a lifelong Chief fan, so that means I hate the Broncos and your neurotic acting today is quite funny and hilarious. So I hope that they lose this week and I can just to double up the point spread. And make yourself a little extra nervous. Have a good weekend, guys, and go pick it. 00:39:09 Speaker 5: A little harsh on a Friday. But if I was a Chiefs then I would hate Denver too. But according to my math and the new points, but it would be winning by nine because they went from five and a f to four and a half. Yeah, there'll be a nine point not ten point five. 00:39:19 Speaker 2: Keith and Chico. Hi, Keith, what's on your mind? 00:39:23 Speaker 8: Hey? 00:39:23 Speaker 2: Dan? 00:39:24 Speaker 15: Earlier you had that Ben Roethlisberger clip, and it got me thinking about what the Raiders could do with that pick. A team that might be already set up for his kind of situation in my mind would have been the Colts. They're kind of just missing their quarterback. Another team that might be able to throw some draft capital, not as quite as good as Indianapolis. Maybe Miami because that's his hometown. 00:39:43 Speaker 2: Thanks Dan, Yeah, yeah, you got the two ast situation. But then I don't know what you're walking into with Miami in fact, the new Dolphins GM. Do we have his comments, Marvin? I don't see it on my sheet here from yesterday, but I got it. Okay, do you want to tell me who it is? It's John Eric Sullivan. I was talking about Tua. He came over from Green Bay. 00:40:13 Speaker 16: Whether it's two or anybody else, it's unfair and irresponsible for me to sit up here and talk about anything specific before I've talked to the player himself. Quarterback is the most important position in professional sports. 00:40:25 Speaker 2: You know. 00:40:25 Speaker 16: I also think it's the most dependent. These guys heard me say this in the interview process. We will evaluate that position like we evaluate every other position, and we will do what is best for this football team. 00:40:36 Speaker 2: With to or anybody else. 00:40:38 Speaker 16: To sit up here today and tell you that I have a great understanding of what we're going to do or which way we're going to go, that would be a lie because there's just too much work to do. There's too many conversations to be had at this point. 00:40:50 Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know if you can make a decision on Tua. I wouldn't see what you have. Got a new GM and a new coach and you're going in there. Let's take inventory here to make any rash decisions here. Maybe f TUA for one more year. But you know, going back to what I said about Ben Roethlisberger's comments, he's saying the Steelers shouldn't draft a quarterback in the first round. I don't think the Raiders should be drafting Fernando Mendoza because I have to look at this and go, Okay, is my team ready for this? Is he ready for this? How do we get our team ready? Devin mccordy Football Night in America analysts will join us coming up our two on the way after this
