00:00:00 Speaker 1: And we continue at one oh five in the afternoon on the John Phillips Show, Mister Randy wangs in Culver City. 00:00:07 Speaker 2: John. A new poll of the California Wealth Tech shows it's got fifty percent support. 00:00:14 Speaker 1: Which means if that passes, however, many billionaires are still here. We're going to start looking for property in Nevada, in Florida and Texas and everywhere else. Eight hundred two two two five two two two is a telephone number one eight hundred two two two five two two two. It is our pleasure to welcome our next guest to the program. He is formerly of the Fox News Channel who is a candidate for governor here in the state of California, running as a Republican and doing quite well in recent polls. The most recent poll he came out with the gold medal, finishing in first place. You can get him online at Golden toogether dot com and follow him on exit Steve Hilton X. Steve Hilton, Welcome. 00:01:05 Speaker 3: It's great to be with you. What are they talking about? Fifty percent? I think that it's like, what have we got a death wish going on here in this state. 00:01:14 Speaker 4: It's just so ridiculous. 00:01:15 Speaker 1: Yeah, talk about suicidal ideation. Passing that thing would be just about the worst thing that the state of California could do, especially when AI is just about ready to explode. 00:01:27 Speaker 3: Yes, I mean, we already have the highest unemployment rate in the country, we have the highest poverty rate in the country, and the worst business climate in the country, as measured by a pole of Every year Chief Executive magazine does a survey. We've been fifty to out of fifty states on business climate for the last ten years. So that's why, because we're driving successful entrepreneurs and business owners out of our state, and it's like, now, let's really accelerated. That's the genius idea of these idiotic unions and the Democrats and people like Roe Kana, who should have more sense, pushing this stuff, the congressman from the Bay Area. It's so insane. The only caveat I would have is like they still have to get it on the ballot. That hasn't happened yet. I mean, you can assume you've got the unions pushing it. They got a lot of money, so they'll probably buy the signatures that they need, including a whole bunch of fake ones. We saw videos of that the other day. But when you get to the campaign, you're up against billionaires. Let's just be honest. So there's that old saying. Maybe it's an English thing. I don't know if you recognize it. It's from the old newspaper days. Never pick a fight with someone who buys ink by the barrel, referencing newspaper owners who just you know, they can always get back at you. Same with this, like, however much money the unions have to get this across the line. You know you're talking about billionaires. They got plenty of money to fight back. 00:02:54 Speaker 1: Let's talk about the recent polls that show you doing quite well. They show you in first place, the most recent one I took a look at, and certainly we're now seeing a degree of panic going on right now within the California Democratic Party, where they're not just worried about you finishing first. They're worried about Chad Bianco, the Republican sheriff of Riverside County, finishing second and the Democrats being locked off the November ballot, and they are trying like hell to get Democrats who are in single digits to drop out of the race. So far, they only have one taker and that was Ian Calderon, the former assemblyman from Lydier, who had less than one percent. So whether or not that'll have any impact on the race at all is arguable, but none of the others have taken them up on it. What do you make of the panic that's setting in right now on the other side of the aisle, and what does that say about how you're resonating with the voters. 00:03:53 Speaker 3: Well, first of all, let's just look at the arrogance of these people. Right They've been in power for sixteen years to total control of everything, I mean in the legislature, much longer than that, but it's now sixteen years of complete control, one party rule by the Democrats, and they feel like they're entitled to more of it. And they're panicking at the thought that, oh, my gosh, you might get a Republican in one of the statewide offices and we don't have one hundred percent control of everything. How unthinkable is that? The arrogance of these people, especially when they've made such an absolute disastrous mess of everything, which I mean I mentioned some of the big statistics earlier, but on top of that, the crime, the homelessness, the school results, everything such a disaster, and yet they think they're entitled to another four eight years of total one party rules. So it just reveals that arrogance. And that's why one of the reasons I think they're going to lose this year. People are sick of this. But in terms of the specifics of the race, I think they're actually regardless of whether any more of them drop out. And I think it's because actually there's a bunch of them in the sort of Vian Calderon, you know, zero to one percent territory. They're, you know, Tony Furman, the school's guy, and better ye the state control. They're not much more than that, you know, And so I think that you may see a couple more drop out, but I don't think it's going to have much of an impact. I think the much bigger impact is going to happen when the unions really start kicking in their cash. And I think that that, well, I know that has not happened yet. Nearly all the spending, almost entire of the money that's been spent so far in terms of advertising is has been Tom Steyer, who's managed to sort of push himself up from I don't know, low single digits to high single digits, it seems. And now the new guy, Matt Mayhan, the mayor of San Jose, who no one's ever heard of, He's starting to spend a lot of money. But the thing that hasn't happened is the union money. And that's the real big one in California as we know, especially the government unions, the teacher unions, the two biggest forces in California union politics, teacher unions and SEIU. They have not yet endorsed a candidate. A lot of the other unions have and they've spread their endorsements around. That's one of the reasons there isn't really a clear Democrat front runner, but the big ones haven't yet. And I think that what you could see within the next month is there a bit of a coalescing behind one of the leading Democrats. My guess is based on what I'm hearing from Sacramento. I know even saying. 00:06:25 Speaker 4: This is like, what are you serious? Is Eric Swalwell. 00:06:28 Speaker 3: I think he's the guy they're going to get behind, And so I could see Eric Swollwell moving up quite substantially with a combination of endorsements from people like maybe Nancy Pelosi, some of these big unions and money starting to be spent on his behalf. 00:06:43 Speaker 1: Eric Swollwell, of course, is a guy who may not even live in the state of California. I guess now the Sacramento Bee is saying that although he has a house out of state, and I believe it's Maryland, we're on bank documents, he has claimed as his primary residence that he rents a room from someone else here in California, and that is his domicile, a rented room, and not where his wife and his kids certainly live. That seems suspicious to me. Do you think he's even eligible to be governor of California. 00:07:16 Speaker 4: I think he is because I think that the. 00:07:19 Speaker 3: Rule on that is pretty loose, like that they it's something there's something that is about you have to have lived here five years, be registered to vote here five years to be eligible. But even I remember looking at that ages ago when I was looking at running and wanting to, you know, make sure it was eligible and all that. And I remember seeing on the website from the Sector of State an asterisk against that provision, and at the bottom of the page it said, in the view of this office, this provision is unconstitutional and unenforceable. In other words, I think that you're going to have a problem litigating that one. I think the bigger problem is, like what is going on with him? Like, seriously, there's the allegations of there's some funny business with a mortgage. You're quite right, He's constantly going on about his family and his kids. You know, he made some ridiculous cringe video the other day in his kid's bedroom about some I don't know what it was about, but you know, using his kids in the video, and you think, what doesn't even live there? 00:08:20 Speaker 4: Like what is this? 00:08:23 Speaker 1: Let's talk about Gavin Newsom right now, who is clearly running for president, and he announced that he wants to spend twenty million dollars of California taxpayer money on an ad campaign fighting quote unquote disinformation about the state of California. I would imagine, Steve, that the disinformation that he plans on combating is from people like you and people like me who tell the truth about the failures in Gavin Newsom and the Democratic supermajority here, how they failed us on the bullet train, on crime, on homelessness, on insurance, and everything else. 00:09:02 Speaker 3: Everything, literally everything else, you're exactly right. I put out a video on this last Friday when I heard the story, and not just the video was referencing the fact that I wrote a letter to Rob Bond to the Attorney General. Okay, no, great, hope that anything will happen, but you know, I don't want to let these things slide. It's actually illegal. It's California code. I believe it's eighty five fourteen. They've got that slightly wrong. That it's very clear that you cannot use public money for political purposes. And that's what this is. It is obviously an attempt to boost his presidential campaign by exactly as you say, countering the truth with his lies that it thinks great in California and we are supposed to pay for it when we have a massive budget deficit and they're saying that they need even more tax money. That's why the billionaire taxes on the table, because there's not enough money. Oh but there's enough money for some you know, image polishing campaign for Gavin News. It's totally unacceptable and I think it's illegal, and so I wrote the letter, and specifically I want BoNT to look into the moment. It's at the stage of their inviting you know, people to bid for the contract, and I said, you've got to look at this and make sure that it is compliant with the law. But there's a very specific point, which is if Newsome himself appears in these ads, if his image or video or anything else appears in the ads, that is absolutely clearly illegal and should be prosecuted. And of course, more generally, what on earth are we doing wasting our money on this? But it's all part of the story with these democrats, the arrogant one party rule people. The same story as Kamala Harris using our money to pay for her security detail on her ridiculous book tour, which is basically part of her presidential campaign. These unbelievable machine politicians, they cannot bear to be out of the limelight. They're constantly running for office, and now they're expecting us. 00:10:55 Speaker 4: To pay for it. It is completely outrageous. 00:10:59 Speaker 1: I'd like to know if you have a message for Jewish Californians, because right now there are many people of the Jewish faith here in California who are extremely upset at what Gavin Newsom had to say about the state of Israel. Where in a forum recently he said that the state of Israel is an apartheid state and should be cut off of federal funds. We should no longer support the state of Israel. He has sent sent Izzi, his spokesman out is he Gardone, to issue a statement making sure that everyone knows that he does still believe that Israel does have a right to exist. Since then, there have been just acts of horrific violence against Jews, not just around the globe, but here in California, where we learned recently that out of San Jose, that there are reports of Israelis being violently attacked in San Jose after assailants heard them speaking Hebrew at Augustine restaurant in Santana Row. Any message for Jewish California onions right now. 00:12:01 Speaker 3: Well, first of all, what Gavin Newsom is saying and doing is disgusting, and he's he's and he's pandering to his far left base again entirely driven by his own political ambitions, but in the process he's making Jewish people less safe in California. I mean, this is my message is very clear. You're not going to have a stronger defender than me when I'm governor, not because I particularly favor the Jewish people in California everyone else. But I'm not going to tolerate a situation where you've got hate and prejudice fanned by any part of the government or the political system in California. And that is happening all over the place in the UC system in public schools you see, you know, like just small things, but they turned. But you know, I was, I was. I've spent a lot of time on this. I was at the there's a Jewish forum in La the other a big, a big debate with with the other candidates, the Democrats, just the other week at the Skyball Center in LA And I went into that, you know, understanding that it was a primarily Democrat audience in the room as a big audience about a thousand people plus many watching online. And I didn't expect to, you know, win that debate. But I did win that debate because I was the only one that spoke out clearly against anti Jewish hate and making clear commitments that I've been consistent about to any audience, unlike a bunch of those Democrats there, like Eric Swalwell was a good example, who pandered to the audience in the room. Oh yes, I'm with you. And as well as signing these ridiculous River to the C type resolutions as a member of Congress, which he did after October the seventh, And so all those things that these Democrats are doing, like Swalwell signing that Revolution resolution, like Newsome making that disgusting comment about an Aparte, say, all of that gives sucker to the anti Jewish hate that is a real thing in California. You've got you've got Jewish students in public schools who are now afraid to reveal their identity Jewish. You know, synagogues and Jewish centers are up and down our state now having to fund their own security costs because of the threats, and they can't rely on the police. And so it's absolutely unacceptable to me and I will not accept it as governor. 00:14:09 Speaker 1: We have a lot of big city school districts in California right now that are in trouble, including Oakland Unified School District, where insolvency is something that some of the elected officials on the school board say is around the corner. Despite that fact, they just cut a deal with the teachers' unions to give them a substantial raise. The feeling seems to be, who cares if we go insolvent, Sacramento will be there to bail us out. We don't need any austerity here in Oakland. If you're elected to be governor of California, would you bail out these poor performing school districts or would you tell them to get their act in order? 00:14:49 Speaker 4: No, no, no. 00:14:51 Speaker 3: We have to cut spending, not increase it. Because we have to cut taxes. Because we have the highest taxes in the country. One of the reasons everyone's leaving. Businesses and families are so expensive. We've got to cut the taxes. The only way you can cut taxes responsibly is to cut spending. So there's literally no more money. They've doubled the budget of the state of California nearly in the last five years. Right five years ago, the budget was one hundred and eighty billion, now three hundred and fifty billion. That's nearly doubled in five years. The idea that they don't have enough money is absolutely a lie. You've got these ridiculous democrats. 00:15:26 Speaker 4: Swalwell's one of the Tom Styr as well. 00:15:29 Speaker 3: I hear that I've done many debates against them. Now they all say the same thing. Oh, we need more revenue, more revenue, We need a complete bs Swollwell literally said my top three priorities as governor revenue, revenue, revenue. 00:15:43 Speaker 4: What are you on? 00:15:44 Speaker 3: Literally we are swimming in taxes and the burden that produces, and the money is there, but it's going to all these perks and privileges for the government unions they have. Luxury health care is called we talk about pensions the whole time they've negotiated these unbelievably generous pensions that regular working people can never imagine. Same with healthcare is called OPEP in the budget other post employment benefits. The bill for that is now billions and billions of dollars a year. This is luxury healthcare for government unions and retirees, which again on a scale that regular people can't dream of, not way beyond Obarmacare, which they told us was perfect for multiple family members, Luxury healthcare, all of these perks that the unions have negotiated, that needs to be renegotiated to reduce that. So that's where a lot of the money is going. And then, of course the other huge area is the fraud that's fueling the Democrat party machine. I mean I set up cal Doge just about a month or so ago with my colleagues on the Golden Ticket running with me Herb Morgan running for state control of Michael Gates for AG, Gloria Romero for Lieutenant governor. Announced it together cal Doze right now. Obviously we're not elected, its volunteers, we don't have any official role. But just from the work that we're doing with our fraud investigators and volunteers, we've uncovered two massive stories just in the last couple of weeks. Number one was the cannabis tax, three hundred and seventy million dollars of that actually coming from the gas tax from the Climate for MCCAP and Trade fund. That was basically our gas taxes and electric bill surcharges supposed to be spent on substance abuse prevention actually going into all these Democrat activist groups doing voter registration and all the usion nonsense. And then just the other week, we have one billion dollars with a B supposed to be spent over the last ten years on installing solar panels on low income apartment buildings. Of that total amount, which has all been spent seventy two million only was actually spent on the solar panels nine hundred and twenty eight million, again going into all this political activity, voter registration, community, organizing, all this stuff to build the Democrat party machine. And so we're starting to see their business model. They put this money, they say, oh, we're going to increase taxes, spend it on this good course that normal people would agree with. But then when you dig into it, the money's not going to that, it's actually going to Democrat political machine building. And when we stop that, we're going to be able to cut spending in taxes as well. 00:18:15 Speaker 1: Steve Hilton candidate for governor. You can get him online at Goldentogether dot com. See time for the California Crime Blodder. 00:19:59 Speaker 1: And the first edition and involve someone who has a real b in their bonnet with Rihanna. 00:20:04 Speaker 2: A completely insane woman tried to shoot up Rihanna's house in Beverly Crest. 00:20:10 Speaker 1: That's not very nice. 00:20:12 Speaker 2: Likely she's a terrible shot for mar Here's ABC seven Eyewitness. 00:20:22 Speaker 5: News new clues now in the assault rifle attack on Rihanna's mansion. As we're learning more about the woman police say opened fire on the Grammy winner's home. Eyewitness New supporter Liz Nakey live outside the Beverly Glenn home with new revelations tonight, Liz. 00:20:37 Speaker 4: Mark. 00:20:37 Speaker 6: Tonight, investigators are looking into new videos post it online long before they say Evanna Ortiz showed up here outside Rihanna's home with a gun. Now tonight, what investigators are really trying to figure out is if Ortiz traveled from her home in Orlando here to La with the intention of shooting Rihanna. 00:20:54 Speaker 1: Or her home. 00:20:56 Speaker 2: That is a long way to go. 00:20:59 Speaker 1: Who was it? Pop singer Selena who got assassinated by one of her superfans. 00:21:04 Speaker 6: YEP locked in in La County jail for a second night on a multi million dollar bond. Investigators are now digging into the criminal history and online musings of Evanna Ortiz. This Florida woman arrested in charged with trying to kill Rihanna, the R and B singer, had apparently been on Ortiza's mind for some time. 00:21:24 Speaker 7: But Senrihanna, when you die, God is taking me to my future? 00:21:30 Speaker 1: WHOA Okay, so she's a special kind of crazy. 00:21:35 Speaker 2: Yeah, she's completely insane, thanks, Florida. 00:21:38 Speaker 7: But Sinrihanna, when you die, God is taking me to my future. 00:21:44 Speaker 2: You that's someone who drank a little too much swamp water, or maybe her mother drank a little bit too much swamp water and other things when she was pregnant with her. 00:21:54 Speaker 7: But Sinrihanna, when you die, God is taking me to my future. You want to kill me? Shut up? 00:22:04 Speaker 2: Whoo wait she thinks that Rihanna wants to kill her. 00:22:10 Speaker 1: Wait it wasn't Rihanna who was shooting at her house. 00:22:14 Speaker 2: Nope. 00:22:15 Speaker 6: Investigators are now looking at this rambling talk to camera video posted on January fourth, and many. 00:22:20 Speaker 2: It's amazing how many violent, crazy people just straight up post their intentions on social media. 00:22:27 Speaker 1: But here's the problem, though, when you deal with people like Rihanna, who are as famous as she is, it doesn't matter which one you pick. They have any number of super fans who are this nuts, who post content like this on social media all the time. How are you supposed to be able to tell which ones are actually going to show up and shoot and which ones aren't. 00:22:53 Speaker 6: Investigators are now looking at this rambling talk to camera video posted on January fourth, and many others like it on or ties social media profiles. Strapped with a semi automatic rifle. 00:23:04 Speaker 2: So there is no like AI flag checks from the social media companies that somebody keeps posting videos saying that they're going to murder Rihanna, Hey, Mark Zuckerberg. 00:23:13 Speaker 1: Are you listening? 00:23:15 Speaker 6: And many others like it on Ortiz's social media profiles. Strapped with a semi automatic rifle. LA investigator say Ortiz rolled up outside Rihanna's Beverly Glenn Holme and fired multiple rounds at the house. Tape on the front gate now covers roughly half a dozen bullet holes. 00:23:32 Speaker 2: Oh boy, my goodness, pleasully in it. Shooting just occurred. 00:23:37 Speaker 8: Ten gunshots fired from the vehicles. TPR believe the shops came from across the street. 00:23:41 Speaker 6: The Grammy Award winning singer was home at the time. 00:23:44 Speaker 2: But it's still not This is why you get to a certain level of fame and wealth, just get your own private island. 00:23:50 Speaker 1: Well, and she thought that things would calm down after leaving Chris. 00:23:53 Speaker 6: Brown, but it's still not clear with her partner Asap Rocky and their three children were also there. Monday, passing tour buses were full of people who seemed baffled by the violent crime. 00:24:04 Speaker 7: I don't know what gets. 00:24:05 Speaker 2: Into these people, why anyone want to harm such a sweet person like Rihanna. After fleeing the scene before wait, the tour buses go up into Beverly Glen. 00:24:14 Speaker 1: Could you imagine being her neighbor You have tour buses going by, one after another, you have crazy Stocker fans shooting up the neighborhood. 00:24:25 Speaker 6: After fleeing the scene, Belice Track ortizes Tesla and arrested her nearest, Sherman Oaks Mall. Sunday afternoon, our. 00:24:32 Speaker 2: Criminalists are going to be doing some production analysis. They're going to need the screen ord to get that. 00:24:37 Speaker 6: Monday, investigators spent the day retracing an alleged attempted murder that somehow ended without a single injury. 00:24:45 Speaker 2: She fired off a whole swarm of bullets and nobody got hit with any of them. That's the that's the one great thing about this story. But holy cow, all. 00:24:55 Speaker 6: The more incredible because investigators say those bullets actually hit at least two other homes on this block. Tonight, Ortiz is locked in jail on attempted murder charges with more than ten million dollars bond. We're live in Beverly, Glynton Night, Lizneggy, ABC seven Eye Witness News. 00:25:10 Speaker 2: So there you go, the completely insane woman that tried to kill Rihanna in Beverly Glenn. 00:25:19 Speaker 1: Can you imagine being the person who works in the social media companies whose job it is to track these nuts? 00:25:28 Speaker 2: Do they have those people? I would assume so they didn't track her. 00:25:35 Speaker 1: Where you live in the Bay Area, You get in your car, you fight traffic, You go down to wherever the headquarters are, Cooper Tino, San Francisco, wherever you park your car, You go up the elevator to your office. You pour yourself a strong cup of Joe, You sit down at your desk, you fire up the computer, and you say, all right, let's see who wants to impress Jodi Foster. 00:26:03 Speaker 7: Today listen, Rihanna, When you die, God is taking me to my future. You want to kill me? Shut up? 00:26:16 Speaker 1: Well, I hope that she gets the help that she needs wherever it is that they send her. 00:26:21 Speaker 2: I know music is open to interpretation, but that's a really strange way to get the true meaning behind umbrella. 00:26:30 Speaker 1: Now, what do you do if you're the psychologist whose job it is to fix her in the mental institution? Do you think you try to get her to be nonviolent? You try to get the voices out of her head? Because I'll tell you what I would do. I have an unconventional idea here. Are you ready to hear it? 00:26:49 Speaker 2: I'm ready? 00:26:50 Speaker 1: Okay. I don't think you can fix this kind of crazy, but what you can do is you can readdirect it. So right now, how the obsession is with Rihanna? Correct? 00:27:02 Speaker 2: That is what we have been told. She thinks Rihanna's gonna kill her. 00:27:06 Speaker 1: Okay, So what you don't want to do is then let her out so her anger towards Rihanna gets to the nth degree because who knows what she's capable of then, and you don't want her to find an obsession with a different pop singer. So then she comes out and she looks for that person and she tries to shoot up their house. So how about this, how about when she's in the mental institution to get her obsessed with a pop singer who's already dead, so that way there's no house to shoot up. Like, Let's say we introduce her to Buddy Holly's music, and we say, you know this guy. Look at this catalog. You know how many times this man has been on k Earth. This man has a fan base that is not just in this country, it's all over the globe. You think that she would take up Buddy Holly's cause and start listening to his music and become obsessed with him. 00:28:24 Speaker 2: She might end up shooting up a cemetery. 00:28:27 Speaker 1: She could, but who cares. 00:28:30 Speaker 7: Listen, Rihanna, when you die, God is taking me to my future. You want to kill me? Shut up? 00:28:39 Speaker 2: With all the technology that we have, with all of the Jenner of AI and all the things that it can do, we can't automatically send that to the FBI before she rolls up on Rihanna's house. 00:28:52 Speaker 1: I guess not eight hundred two two two five two two two is the telephone number one eight hundred two two five two two two, and right now it's time to reopen the California Crime Blodder's dummy. 00:29:09 Speaker 2: We couldn't make this stuff up if we tried. 00:29:12 Speaker 4: I said, hell, no, bad boy, let me get up one out of here. 00:29:17 Speaker 2: It's the California Crime Bloader. 00:29:20 Speaker 1: And this one involve you got another mob taking over a neighborhood in downtown LA. 00:29:26 Speaker 2: This is right outside of the formerly known as Staples Center. Because I'm not going to say the name of the stupid crypto company. Oh wait, I just did. A straight takeover happened in downtown LA and the mob got a little unruly and decided to go ahead and storm a high rise that was nearby because one of the residents complained about the street takeover. 00:29:57 Speaker 1: Mobs are gonna do what mobs are gonna do. 00:30:00 Speaker 2: For the complete lawlessness that plagues Los Angeles on a daily basis. Can't wait for the World Cup audience to see this crap. Here's Fox eleven. 00:30:10 Speaker 8: Mayhem in downtown LA. 00:30:11 Speaker 9: Street racers first take over the street and the night turns violent, went up luxury high rise, break in leaves one person stabbed. 00:30:21 Speaker 1: You know, Gavid would say all of this is misinformation and then he's going to take your taxpayer dollars to let the people of New Hampshire know that you're a liar. 00:30:30 Speaker 9: Fox eleven's Lord Diaz has that story. 00:30:37 Speaker 2: So they said Vos actually they was doing the dunnits. Yeah, at three o'clock in the morning, the cops the cups doesn't show up. 00:30:49 Speaker 1: And of course this doesn't show up in any of the books, because if the cops don't show up, did it actually happen? 00:30:56 Speaker 2: The cups doesn't show up. 00:30:59 Speaker 10: This bit, taking at three am early Sunday morning, shows a harrowing scene in downtown La. As witnesses say, a large group of street racers got angry and broken to the lobby of Circa La. 00:31:14 Speaker 2: You get so amped up from seeing people do donuts and near misses that you need to destroy things. Usually it's a seven to eleven, not a fancy apartment building. 00:31:24 Speaker 1: And leave it to these a holes to make a story about donuts in the morning, bad. 00:31:29 Speaker 10: Got angry and broken to the lobby of Circa La. It's a prominent luxury high rise across the street from Crypto dot com. 00:31:39 Speaker 2: See this is why I do not understand the whole concept of luxury apartments. In downtown LA which is a horrible part of town. 00:31:48 Speaker 1: Well, when things were good, they kept trying to get people to move down there. I know a bunch of people who moved down there, and I remember thinking, Okay, if you have a city government that works, it's fine. But if the city government doesn't work, you're in big trouble. 00:32:07 Speaker 10: The group, many wearing hoodies, reportedly started beating up security guards at the desk. During the melee, one person was stabbed, according to police. 00:32:17 Speaker 1: Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait, she didn't say very peacefully. 00:32:23 Speaker 2: Can you stab someone peacefully? 00:32:25 Speaker 1: Oh? 00:32:26 Speaker 8: Yeah. 00:32:26 Speaker 1: You can light something on fire peacefully. You can destroy a black and white peacefully. You can't tag a building peacefully. You can take you over an intersection peacefully. Weren't you around during George Floyd. 00:32:44 Speaker 10: Neighbors gave us this video shot earlier that same morning from their apartment window. It showed the noisy, chaotic street scene below as cars screeched and spun donuts on busy Figureoa Boulevard. They say it happens each and every. 00:32:58 Speaker 2: Well, I guess they Finally it's something at all. The prostitution on fig and now it's been replaced by street takeovers. 00:33:05 Speaker 1: And for those of you who don't live in Los Angeles, figure rows like the Big Street downtown. We're not talking about a side street here that few people use. 00:33:15 Speaker 10: They say it happens each and every weekend. 00:33:22 Speaker 2: Crime is down. 00:33:23 Speaker 1: Huh yeah, you know, if you were smart enough to understand statistics, you would know that La is as safe as it was in the nineteen fifties. 00:33:31 Speaker 2: These things are going to happen when the World Cup is here. These things are going to happen when the Super Bowl is here. And yes, these things are going to happen when the Olympics are here and an international light is going to be shined on this disaster, dumpster fire of a city. 00:33:47 Speaker 1: I wonder why the city didn't send in a bunch of social workers that night. 00:33:51 Speaker 10: They say it happens each and every weekend. 00:33:54 Speaker 5: The LAPD gotta do something about it. 00:33:55 Speaker 2: They're doing they're not allowed to, no, and the city would come down on them like a ton of bricks if there was a negative interaction between them and the hoodlums. Because so many of the participants in this are juveniles, there is this unwritten rule where we don't want to do anything because if we have to put them in juvie. They'll end up suing us and we've already paid out billions. 00:34:18 Speaker 1: Well it's not even just that. How many of these people do you think have warrants for their arrest? How many of these people should be in prison for something that they did in the past. How many of these people do think are here illegally and would be deported if they participated with ice and they communicated with Ice. They don't want any of these people being arrested for a million different reasons, mostly because they check some sort of box of being a protected class. 00:34:47 Speaker 5: The LAPD gotta do something about it. 00:34:49 Speaker 8: They're doing takeovers and rollbacks in front of the cryptos. 00:34:53 Speaker 10: Monday, the high Rises broken window was boarded up. I went in but got no official comment from CIRCA, but people who witnessed the swarm of young men who rushed the lobby said it started when residents of the building engaged and traded insults with the street takeover group. 00:35:09 Speaker 2: So someone at the apartment building opened their window and screamed knock it off, and apparently that set them off to the point where they stormed the building and started beating up the security guards. 00:35:21 Speaker 1: Have you seen the video of the security guard getting beat up. 00:35:25 Speaker 10: From there, things got worse. 00:35:27 Speaker 2: Some of our neighbors. 00:35:28 Speaker 9: I guess they threw stuff downstairs and fished them off, and then they came over to fight the neighbors. But you know, obviously the guards cannot lead them in the building, so they started fighting the guards and they started smashing everything. 00:35:40 Speaker 2: This is complete lawlessness. 00:35:42 Speaker 1: And if the cops don't show up because the city doesn't want the cops to show up, then I guess you're just I'm your own. 00:35:49 Speaker 10: The LAPD told our assignment Deak that so far, no arrests have been made in the case. 00:36:00 Speaker 2: They didn't even show up. 00:36:02 Speaker 1: Nope. 00:36:04 Speaker 10: The LAPD told our assignment Dez that so far, no arrests have been made in the case, but certainly there's a lot of video to be looked at. I'm Laura Dias in downtown Los Angeles Fox eleven News. 00:36:17 Speaker 2: There you go, yet another street takeover in downtown LA that happens every weekend, and this one led to a violent mob storming an apartment building to try to fight the tenants. 00:36:30 Speaker 1: Let's go to David Ontario, Dave, Hello. 00:36:35 Speaker 8: Hey, John, and Randy thank you Hey. 00:36:38 Speaker 4: Yeah. 00:36:39 Speaker 8: When Randy said I don't understand luxury apartments in DCLA. Yes, I get it. So I worked in Pasadena with a colleague of mine and he had a nice house in Pasadena and we'd often hang out there. He decides, I need some more LA experience. He's obviously from out of state. So I said, that's a bad idea. He decides, well, I'm going to do this anyway. So he moves down to downtown LA in one of those luxury apartment buildings. Not more than two weeks later, he got knocked He got knocked out, his wallet was stolen, and it's on it's on video camera. By the time they woke him up and retrieved him, his shoes had been stolen by another homeless person. Oh so he definitely got the LA experience. And you know, I didn't say anything because that's you know, what are you going to say to that? But but I knew that was a bad idea for him. 00:37:30 Speaker 1: What were his politics going into it and what were his politics coming out of it? 00:37:36 Speaker 8: Well, I know what his politics were going into it. You know, he loves his diversity and whatnot, and I don't really care to speculate on what he's thinking. Nowadays. 00:37:47 Speaker 1: But you did have a conversation with you about what happened to him. 00:37:51 Speaker 8: Yeah, well, yeah, he told me about it, and I just, you know, I said, well, I didn't say I told you so, because you know, it's just you are. I want to kick you when you're down. But but man, well I do that, you know. And he had a perfectly fine home in Pasadena, which you know, Pasadena is not a bad place to live, and it was a nice home. And he just wanted street tacos or something. I don't know, but he definitely got some La experience. 00:38:18 Speaker 4: He did. 00:38:20 Speaker 8: Thank you for the show, guys, thank you. 00:38:24 Speaker 1: I definitely would have given him the I told you so
