Mmm, hello everyone, welcome to the Giant Bomb Cast. Here we are
the Los Angeles Podcast Festival. My name is Jeff Gerstman. How you guys
doing tonight? Yeah, alright cool. I am joined by Brad Shoemaker,
whoa hey, Hi, what's something? Hey? Hello? Hi, he's
following the hell over. Vinny Caravella is here. Hello, Hello, Hello,
fresh in from New York. That's right. How's that East Coast time
treating you? It's fine? East Coast time is the best coast time,
the East Coast time. It's bagel times. Even rhyme, it's rhyme time.
Okay, all right, Jersey, okay, Dan record is here.
Now let's talk about these beers. You just got here. Uh you walked
up the street. Yep. You wonder if it's garden or who garden?
Business on here? There? Hello? Yeah, I'm not used to holding
a microphone. There's usually a thing on my head or I talked into it
and lean into it. I have to hold this, but I don't even
know what you're talking about. This is I was not prepared for the use.
I have to hold this right here, that's in your head or whatever,
like, let's talk about this is hoe Garden. Okay, Uh,
some say who Garden? What is the correct thing? It's who Garden.
Whatever it is, it's it's good. It's my favorite beer, I think,
and you don't even know how it's pronounced. It's your favorite, you
think when you say Hoe Garden or who Garden, a bartender's not gonna be
like, oh, did you say bud light like you're gonna get the right
thing? Are you sure? I'm because bud Light's not bad. I've drank
a lot of bud light in my life. Okay, pretty good. Yeah,
no, I mean it's no course light, but hey, what are
you gonna do? So we're here, it's, uh, we're at this
weird time of the year for video games where you know, like we're in
this transition period where like games have started coming out at this like rocket pace,
with the exception of last week where there was just suddenly nothing except except
Destiny. What is that? Yeah, that's I'm not sure I'm talking about
video games here. And so we're at this point where we've played some heavy
hitters, most of the year is over, and then we're getting into the
holiday season where it starts to get really crazy. So it's that point where
you know, as we start thinking about like oh, we have to like
produce like Game of the Year awards and that sort of stuff, it's this
feeling of like, Okay, there's some stuff I missed along the way that
I needed to get back into, and then on top of that, there's
still some stuff coming out. Like I know, for me, I think
when I look at like the rest of the year, for me, I
think it's just COST three is the thing that stands out. Are you gonna
Fallout? Guy? All? Yeah, yeah, fall fall Out. I've
definitely enjoyed Fallout, but for whatever reason, like despite enjoying it at E
three, there's like this weird block in my head where I just don't recognize
that game actually exists and is really coming out. So like, for whatever
reason, it's not like on my radar. Is that because it was announced
so recently? Maybe maybe, but there's like, yeah, that's like I'm
sure Fallout four will be great. Uh, it looks like it's it will
be another Fallout game, right. That's kind of what public opinion seems to
be. Yeah, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. That's weird.
The consensus is weirdly turned towards this like tepid expectation of like, yeah,
it'll be more Fallout, that'll be fine. Yeah. It seems like
one of those things that it could come in and you could be like,
oh, I'm totally blown away by this because it's like this one hundred hour
game and whatever whatever. But I think a lot of it seems like a
known quantity, whereas like just cost three. Well, I've played enough of
it to like have a known quantity feeling of it. It's like I know
that like fucking shit up in that game is pretty fun. Statues slap themselves
in the face exactly. Yeah, So for me, it's just caused three
do you have like because they're like a game the rest of the year where
you're like, okay, this is the thing. There's also well there's hit
Man, okay, and that's what is that though. It's a game where
you're an assassin ball it's weird. Yeah, he's got a shaved head,
which I think is really cool code on there. No, I don't think
it's ok it's it's really cool. You don't know his backstory, Okay,
he might have had hair's youth and Okay, all I know is there was
that one hit Man game where like you hit, you pick up the bomb,
you hit fucking guy? Whether you hit a man literally with a with
a smoking apparatus, oh okay, his tobacco pipe, yes, his water
pipe? Yeah, okay. You find a water pipe and you you hit
someone with it, and I just I can only hope they can escalate.
It's baked brigs, just like you find a vape break and just like I
don't know, can you sear someone with it? Can you heat him up?
The dual coils on my rig. I got the voltage down to one
home and like I burned the guy with it, Like can you do that?
Yeah, it's it's like the vape expert now out from the East coast.
That's right. Uh, you can tell me everything you know about okay,
So what kind of coils you rocking? No? No, I don't
duel coil. That's good, that's good. I have no idea, all
right, I have a phantom cigar and I use my watch to light it
fair enough. I don't know. Hit Man looks like uh, you know,
it looks like more hit Man. It looks like more uh the Clockwork
World, except for the part where it's like free to play ish and they
said they're not shipping the whole game at the beginning. I can't. It'll
come out in December with like not all the environments in it, and it'll
like they'll put it out or whatever and you get it and and can play
the missions in there. So it seems like it's a little more free form
where they'll be like bolting things into it over the months. I don't know
anyone here big on Absolution because I loved Blood Money and I was excited about
Absolution, but I never really get the whole thing. That was the one
with the bong, right, was it the last one? I think,
yeah, all right, but I think that it's not really all right.
I'm gonna say, like I have never liked the hit Man game. Okay,
blood Money is the only one I pod enough to beat. Blood Money,
Yeah, that first one on three sixty because the visuals are really good
and it was early en appen the console's life cycle that it was super impressive,
and the gameplay was also pretty good. That's the only one I beat
though. Alright, So back to my question, I would be finding some
time to think here, like like what's like when you look at the rest
of the year when you think about the rest of the year, trying to
think what else is happening. Assassin's oh right, they are doing another one
of those, aren't they the last one? I felt. I felt a
little twinge of hope there for Assassin. There's Call of Duty black right,
they are doing another set your watch by it? Yeah? Uh yeah,
there's stuff Halo, there's Halo okay, yeah, tomb Rat right, that
is this year? Yeah? Yeah, okay, this dude, No,
you don't augment your pre order until February or twenty sixteen, come on,
very nice. I feel like there was something else towards middle December, and
now I can't remember what Siege, right, that's early, which seems neat
but not like totally not Did that thing come from Patriots or was that a
totally different thing? Like is that the same team or a lot of them
got laid off? Right, I don't know. Yeah, I'm not actually
sure scrapped the real lineages is to that thing. But yeah, it seems
like there's some some stuff coming out this year. Yeah, here and there.
Yeah, October seems kind of dry. Yeah, and then I feel
like, you know, there's been some like fucking bangers out already. Were
you're just like, all right, this is this We're getting into serious video
game time. But it's been a long year and there's some stuff that like
we feel like, you know, probably have to catch up on before we
start giving awards to games. And for me, like, I'm like there's
a part of me that like now that I'm like done with Metal Gear and
I played just enough Destiny to know that I'm pretty much done with Destiny real
man. It's it's now It's like, okay, I'm gonna probably play the
Witcher. Oh sure, but like this year, this year is gonna be
so I for Game of the Year stuff, I always hate the part where
you're deciding, like you're it always is like the top three and then like
the bottom through like ten nine and eight, that's what comes right, ten
nine and eight h and then the middle chunk always seems to kind of fall
into place, and then you're kind of like, okay, I want this
on the list, so we have here's the games we want. We don't
really care where they are. Yeah, So, like I really I hate
when it comes down to like tearing down a game or something to get another
game moved up and like imagine trying to compare metal Gear and Mario Maker.
I was like, okay, which one's better? Metal Gear? Yeah,
okay, yeah, it's that's an easy let's talk about the mechanics of it.
But Mario Makers are like amazing, That's what I'm saying. Yeah,
I would be making levels for that right now if I wasn't here. That
was how I spent like last weekend, was just like I'm just gonna sit
here in my underwear and plot out Mario levels my life. Well yeah that's
but now it's a video game, then let's do it and share those levels
with other people. It's commercials in raft paper. Yeah, Mario sold out.
It was pure before we're just like okay, I just need to all
right, Then there would if there was a turtle and it was a red
no no, just like on my basement wall with chalk, just like right,
yeah, when they when they find the bodies, they'll be like what
was he doing? What does it all mean? Justformed into goombas worked?
It would have worked. I trust me, it would have worked. I
noticed the bushes. I have a face on them. Yeah, right exactly,
that's m I uh can I tell you a story about my basement.
Let's all right, Yeah, okay, let's have a we have a viny
caravella house check. Do we have the house check music? No, we
don't know no house check music. There is no house so holy cow.
All right, So you live in New Jersey. Do we have basements?
Right? Okay, there are basements on so on the East coast there are
basements. I didn't know that. It's it's like a hole in the ground
where it's like a hole where your house poops. Right, So I I
have a crawl space for that, so it can't fit enough. Right,
So Jersey East CoA, it's like it's a real good We need a lot
of fighters waste and yeah, I mean family style out there, that's right,
a lot of Italians. So yeah, all the ship that comes into
your house winds up in a basement eventually. Uh and uh, something happened
in a house like low water pressure or something. I was in it.
But my basement's not finished. But I have like a chair down there,
or like a concrete dungeon where I have a TV like extension cords from like
a kill room that you just go like you go down there to play video
games. I mean that's what the police call it. But like I still
tell my basement whatever. Uh and if some I'm down there and I'm looking
around and I've got like, uh like flashlight and I stop. And I'm
not really a religious man, but like I stopped. Something stopped me a
force something, and uh, there there are moments in the ghost story.
I'm gonna put this microphone down because that's so. There are moments in your
life that you can never like do you hit these moments that like you like
ever like cut your finger and you don't want to look at it, and
you're like this could be bad, that this is gonna like I need to
this is gonna change. It seems you look at it, it's real and
to deal with it. But I see like some sparkles in the air,
right, and I go and I turn the lights on and it's a web
strung across wall to wall with rain drops in it. Right, I'm like,
well that's really weird. But then the rain drops, the tiny rain
drops start moving and crawling across the wet hundreds of baby spiders and I always
walked through it, and uh and the house is forfeit. I burned it
to the ground. Yeah, no, that is yeah, that is the
I said we should probably go back to California. Like yeah at this point
though, I mean, I like, I have some bad news for you
about California. So I've been, you know, walking around the neighborhood,
you know, just going out, you know, do some night walking.
Okay, you know, like you do. Yes, do you have like
one of those like little headlamp or something. No? Fuck no, okay,
if I get run over, it is what it is. But it's
getting run over, that's what it is. Yeah, okay, sure,
uh there is. So I live, you know, suburbs like whatever.
There's a there's an airport pretty close by, like a tiny little airports,
but there's a big field all the way around it, and there's some housing
developments that back up to the field and you can walk along. It's like
it's actually like if it's so nice, like if you had to walk outside
and look at some stuff, you'd be like, it's nice. Okay.
Is a night right, fucking okay? Looks better than oh yeah, okay,
but dusk, let's call it dusk. You can sort of see a
nice sunset, yeah, okay, some nice sunsets out there. So I'm
walking on this sidewalk. It's a nice new sidewalk. No one never walks
on it because where you're gonna go it's just more fucking houses. It's just
more suburban tract homes and bullshit like who cares, but it's there's this.
So I'm walking on the left, is this huge field. On the right
homes including mine somewhere out there, homes. And every time I look down,
I just see more tiny spiders going from the field towards the homes.
You can see him, Oh yeah, oh wow, hundreds of them.
Yeah. How tiny are we talking? Like? You know, like you
know, smaller than a like way smaller than a bottle cap. Tiny little
things, tiny little things, not microscopic. Like I'm standing up looking down
seeing them. You can spot them on the ground from six at dusk.
I got it. I can see these motherfucking spiders. Okay, I go
on, you know, like once a week or something, I go on
a walk, like a Weekend's like, yeah, you wanna go for walking?
Yeah, sure, let's go. Let's go around see the neighborhood.
Fucking hunt rids of spiders are coming towards our homes where they're coming from the
fields. Man going the other way. No, no one's going They're not
going back to the field. They're not like, oh, this is a
bust. They're like, fucking there's ship to bite this way. If we
go this way, there's like there, we can put a roof over our
head the ship. The fuck up. They're coming out of the field in
droves. You're saying it's coast to coast. There's an invasion. There is
a spider invasion, and it's like, you know, it's like we're in
la so you know, like you know, you understand the concept of there
being no fucking water. Uh, my cat has fleas because there's not enough
rain to kill the fleas, so the fleas last through a season and become
resistant to more shit. You've looked this up. This is yeah. No,
like the flea medication, the initial stuff didn't work. We had to
get different flee medication. Prescription strength, Okay, flee medication. It's just
gonna be like a spider that followed the swallowed the fleet. Like do you
wind up getting something swallow the spider to swallow the cat. I mean that's
probably because I don't think probably how this should end up. I should probably
eat the cat. You're probably right, there's probably no other way for this
to go, right right, uh yeah, And it's yeah, between the
drought not killing off the tiny thing, it's probably probably I don't know,
hundreds of spiders. Well I didn't know what so, like I didn't know
what to do. This is in my house, right, yeah, that's
that's a different story. Like I looked down on a sidewalk, I'm like,
well, there's a good chance they won't end up in my home.
Sucks for someone. Yeah, uh but like yeah, like I had this
moment of just like looking at staring at this thing, and like I've got
to do something like this isn't like wake me up, Like what's going on?
Like if you can't like turn around, go well never going in that
room again, off and just go let's go get some brick and some mortar
and fucking just boat on what basement? No that's no, we have a
cross space but no, no, no, no no no. And like
you know, I'm a father and a husband. So I did the responsible
thing and totally was like, honey, you need to deal with this.
Smart. Smart. I I got like a Skype D and D thing going
on, So like, can't, I can't my hands. You have a
schedule that you have to keep this, and I was like, there might
be more eggs back that you should probably just check the whole thing out.
Yeah, I'm gonna go to La good call. It's gonna work out.
Yeah, yeah, just get out of town. I haven't heard from them
in a while. Although, to be fair, yesterday when we were standing
out front of this hotel, there were nine thousand giant cockroaches constantly as we
were talking. Yeah, yeah, I don't know if that's a citywide thing,
but right in front of this is a citywide thing. They're big.
Yeah, what the fuck is happening? Really big? Like this are is
this the end times? Are we in the end times? The humidity?
Okay, let's let's get these metal gear spoilers out then, all right,
so we don't have a lot of time left. Let's talk about Big Boss,
all right. So so what else? What else came out in twenty
fifteen, I don't know. For For for me, it's The Witcher,
you know. For the I played the initial bits of it and really didn't
like the way it controlled and hearing that they patched, you know, in
some different movement options like maybe you want to go back to it and now
I'm finally kind of getting to a point where all I'm going to have some
time. Uh? And so how much how much witching did you do?
I know you witched through which Er two quite a lot. I did.
I really like that game. I like the Witcher one. You read the
books. I read some books. Some of the books some of the deep
lore like ten hours, fifteen hours, yeah, but like multiple in like
kid years that's like one hundred and fifty so it's like dog years. Uh,
like I don't know three fights worth of Like what are you doing down
there? So what's the what's the usual process like for you when you when
you want to go play a game? Is there like a checklist? Is
there like an all systems go? Yes, it's like literally checking lights off
and you're shutting off lights. Yeah, you know, Okay, we need
to rub some whiskey on this kid's gums. All right, now I can
play. It's usually kids are in bed. Lock it down, you know,
like a big old like switch that makes a sound that goes take the
house down. Uh, And then I you know, it's very clear communication.
Brad I'm gonna be downstairs. Okay, I'm gonna be playing a game
if I don't hear the kids. Is that cool? Yes, that's cool.
We're not gonna fight about this, right because I'm gonna be witching.
Uh yes, totally fine. Uh So it's all about communication. Uh.
And then you know it's like an hour uh and like an hour of playing
games now feels like an eternity. It's crazy. I've played like Metal Gear
like for an hour and a half. Yeah, and it's just been I've
been playing forever. This is crazy. And then it's like it's look at
the clock and it's like you're two hours in, but I got best prologue,
Like that's incredible. Yeah. So it's just it's I can get it.
But it's like, you know, it's one in the morning or you
know, I's probably put the kids in been earlier. It's like, you
know, it's like eight thirty, nine o'clock, so it's like nine to
like ten thirty, and by that point, I'm just like doing the like
third person running into wall kind of thing because I'm just nodding off as I'm
trying to play. So that's what happened to girl. Yeah, okay,
so die to horrible death. Well maybe I will, which for you,
you, I mean, are you gonna you did not finish The Witcher?
Correct, I'm like fifty or sixty hours in, and now that I'm pretty
much done with Metal Gear, like I don't have to worry about spoilers or
anything when I get home. That's my main focus is I think from what
I've seen, I'm very very near the end. So I think, you
know, one night of like an eight hour session, I'll be done or
something. So yeah, I'm going to finish that game before a Game of
the Year talks, and like it'll probably be top five for me. There's
a lot of earlier year stuff that you know, we don't talk about much,
you know, because it was in March or February, like blood March,
yeah, right, March, Turn of the Ago. But yeah,
like blood Born. I loved blood Born. That'll be in my top ten
for sure, So yeah, it'll be it'll be interesting. I always keep
like a Google doc of every game I've played that year, so come end
of the year, I can be like, oh, that's right, I
loved Axiom Verge or whatever. Right, Yeah, I started building that list
and it's like looked out what came out of this year and I was like,
oh, yeah that game was good. That game was good, this
other game was good. But yeah, for me, it's been like the
kind of double whammy of like Metal Gear and Mario Makers. Like it's been
a good chunk of time here. Yes, those are like my two favorite
series ever and for like Meddle Year five arguably the best Metal Gear and then
Mario Maker, like infinite awesome Mario levels. I've been playing a lot of
both those. Yeah, I don't know, I haven't I haven't been able
to play Mario Maker for like a week. But my understanding is like it's
not always awesome because it's just the tools to find levels aren't great, so
sometimes you just get in random levels. It's like this might be one that
plays itself and we don't know, just to sit there and find out or
and when you look at the top starred levels or whatever, like it's largely
the auto playing levels, yeah, or like we made Yeah, I love
like cool the cool gimmicky stuff. Yes, it's impressive, but sometimes I
just want to play like real ass Mario levels. So I think I'm gonna
replay Super Mario Brothers too. I might have said that on the Great not
not the US version though. Oh that's level. Like it's been a long
time since I've played. I never beat that one. It's it's it's fucking
hard. It's a weird game. It's really hard. Yeah. Yeah,
So yeah, you talk about kind of those games. Are you talking about
Blood Born? They announced that that DLC is coming out this year? How
substantial is that? I haven't come up on the said it was like they
put out that trailer that was just like you said, it was just like
here's a bunch of old boss fights, like a lot of weapons and the
old boss fights. Yeah, and and I don't know, two deal season
Yeah, I'm just pushing it. Yeah, sure, what does that even
mean? You know? Like two Deal Season one? It's like to me,
it's horse armor and a Snoop dog Voice pack like one. I mean
that would get me to come back and bluff, you know, like if
it was just like here's like the horses look different and then Snoop Dogg is
there just saying like you need to get out by that out the way back
away from these motherfuckers. Oh that's some elder's horror dog Yeah yeah. Uh.
Also, was that the most exciting thing to come out of TS kind
of yeah, kind of colored hard drive covers for the PS four. Yeah,
it's looking pretty good. Project crossed his Own two it's persona yeah yeah,
yeah, not coming out this year, like of course it's not.
Yeah, yeah, delay that the summer we had a trailer so school.
Yeah, it seems like I guess that's probably the reason why you don't announce
that delay earlier. Is he just like, well, let's get a trailer
together, so when we say this, we can only say, yeah,
but watch this. This is right. It's not coming out too. It
looks great. Watch the trailer. It's like it's gonna be forever before you
get the playoffs and the trailers really good. So yeah, I mean that's
I guess technically an announcement. They announced it like they actually announced like literal
fucking horse armor for Metal Gear Solid five. Wait, uh, like really,
tuxedo for Snake and I got like horse new Dehorse options and stuff like
that. Isn't like snake Eater themed, Yeah, stuff like that. So
it's like that's not that's not interesting in anyway, Like if you're playing as
a female online you can play as the boss or whatever like that type of
outfit. But yeah, all right, that's take it. They did show
that like online extended playthrough thing, which is cool, right, Yeah,
that's that's not that's not Those mechanics are not things I want to do.
And it's like the concept of like stealth games in a multiplayer setting I think
is actually a really fucking hard thing to pull off, definitely, because it's
like AI follows rules like I'm gonna walk in this circle until you choke me
to death. Uh, and then we have a human player that is like,
no, I'm trying to do the exact same thing you're doing. Like
there's the merks for spy stuff and like that. Uh you know. In
splurself it was like Xbox Original Yeah yeah, and that was really well liked.
That actually kind of did that stuff well because it gave the two sides
like different abilities. It's like metal Gear Online's class based. We have three
different classes, so maybe that'll kind of help with some of that stuff.
But I just I don't like what they've done with metal Gear and a competitive
online setting in the past has just been dumb. As much as I love
metal Gear, like I was excited about Subsistence Online and also Metal Year four
Online, and both of them I played for like a couple hours, and
like, yeah, this isn't what I really want out of Metal Gear necessarily,
but I don't know, you know, five the mechanics are so good,
like it feels so good that maybe this could be better. I mean,
yeah, I'm sure it'll be better when you judge it against like those
previous Metal Gear games. And you know, they had that that Arcade Metal
Gear multiplayer game in Japan that like some people you know, seem to enjoy
over there at least, so imagine they're kind of building on that to a
certain extent. But you know, at some point, it just like,
you know, this isn't like this is a single player game, Like I
know, you want to make a multiplayer thing so you can try to sell
stuff on top of it or whatever, but it just doesn't seem like the
sort of thing that needs to be in a game like that. So yeah,
it's just hard to get excited. So I don't don't know, Like,
like TGS actually seems like it's kind of a big bust, And I
feel like we've said that for the past couple of years. But like I
remember a few months ago when we talked about going to this one. I
mean like maybe this will be the one, but the last thing I want
to do is like go to Tokyo and go to TGS. And I just
want to go to Tokyo and get the company to pay for it. Yes,
yes, like that's the yeah, totally yeah. I mean I you
know, uh, like going to TGS is just the smoke screen cover for
just like let's go buy really expensive transformers. Yeah, holy count yeah we
need they make transformers. I recently went to my parents' basement, which is
spider free and bro pack my giant band of transformers, which is like about
the size of this table, right, and I was like, awesome,
I'm gonna do. Let me get these transformers. And of course I open
it and they're all just broken the ship because and I remember them being pristine,
right, and it's like, just on the what the hell did you
do to my transformers? Like I don't know your parents were secretly playing with
just like I'm gonna make them turn into the gun and uh and then like
you know, transformed them like five times and put them on a little row
and then like d okay, and I was like, I'm gonna I am
an adult. I wonder if they make like adult transformers not like that.
You have switch this robot to on red and they and they and they totally
do and they're like hundreds of dollars but they look like what you want,
like what the cartoon looked like. And when they transform, it takes like
two hours. Uh, but like, uh, they look awesome and they
might be real. I'm not sure yet. They probably are, but like
they have like you know how like Megatron always look like crap. Like you
transform Megatron and he looked like a like a block with like flat legs and
like just garbage. It didn't look like them a cartoon. Yeah, and
you know when you transforming, nobody can hold a gun because it's too big.
They there are like third party people working on the Megatron problem. There
are some of our best minds. NASA may have just been shut down so
they can fix this Megatron. How do you change a gun into a robot
and have the thighs look okay, look at us. It's awesome. There.
The Internet's a great place and YouTube will take you there if you want
to go down looking through people's like being like, well, okay, here's
uh, this is uh, you know, Conrad Bishops a Megatron model,
and let's check out the thighs on this one. This guy's uh, you
know, they're a little wider, he's a little uh you know, the
gun is about millimeter too short from the actual gun. Uh. So you
know, I'm gonna give this one or four and a half. Let's move
on to the next Megatron. It's awesome. I yeah, that's I can't
buy. I can't buy any of it. No, there was like a
yeah, and they've done like weird crossover stuff like a here's a Sega Genesis
that turns into Megatron or you know, I'm not a working Sega Genesis.
But then there was like, at some point there was like here's a Lincoln
Park boom box that turns into sound Wave and it's just like a japan still
sticking it out with these awesome fans. Uh yeah, that's that stuff got
weird. But at some point I was like at some point, I just
you know, and and and you know, like I've been collecting games of
a sort for a long time and I'm damn near broken of it. Of
the collections of collections, like I just don't I don't have a need to
own physical stuff. Uh and yeah, like I went and looked all those
Transformer and I was like, yeah, three hundred dollars like a kick ass
fucking sound wave. And he comes with a tiny Megatron that he can put
in his hand like like he used to do when you hold the gun.
It's supposed to be like God wanted it right, exactly exactly. It's like
in Genesis. Yes. Yeah. And at some point I was like,
I have no place to put this stuff, like I'm not one of these
guys. That's just like I'm gonna decorate my desk with a bunch of shit
from when I was a kid. So my office seems interesting, Like so
people walk by and go, oh, you guys look like you have fun
like and I was like, get the fuck back to the HR department,
leave me alone. It's almost like you speak from experience. Yeah, no
it but actually people walk through now and just go like this place is a
fucking wreck, and I go, yeah, keep moving. Uh yeah,
Like I don't want to decorate a cubicle like that. Stuff's just that's never
Alex. Alex's desk he's got his laptop on it, and he like that.
He takes back and forth and like podcast notes on it. When he's
not there, people just take shit off his desk because it looks like it's
like abandoned. So like he's just had where the where the fun took my
knick cage like thing I had on here? And it's like, I don't
know, man, I saw something, just won't buy pick it up and
just start like play with just the three pile. So and he's right on
a corner. So it's just like I see his chairs missing half the time.
Real, it's real, And I just sit back in my chair and
get like an orange cone and just have to say, there's a desk here,
man on it and just and just leave that though. Or I get
one of those like cardboard ikea like computers that's just made like a box that's
not a real computer or monitor, and just have a prop there so people
think there's a real computer. Yeah, just get like an inflatable like sex
doll or something like that sitting at a chair that don't work. No,
Yeah, who would have an argument about that? It's a big click.
It's just CPS, you guys, they're real cool with them. Yeah,
they're absolutely cool, especially in the New York office. Right. Oh,
yeah, way cool. They're very very very hip. Yeah, absolutely,
Jeff, are you at the point where you're ready to do like kind of
fire sales stuff like I don't want all of the ship or are you hanging
onto what you already have? I like what, I'm fine with what I
have. I know. I look at it and go like, oh,
it's cool that I got these games, but there's no burning desire to be
like I need to go get more. It's like no, like all that
stuff is like easily playable depending on what lines you want across. Right,
So it's just like I've got a ton of fucking video games, but there's
no there's not. At no point am I like, man, I need
a copy of this like obscure, you know, old like you know that
that's wanted to play something, you could play something, right, And I
have most of what I would want in that capacity. So it's this feeling.
I was like, well, now I've got like all this stuff,
and it's like I'm not even sure if these intelevisions work, but I've got
four of them, uh, and and tons of like you know, it's
like here's four copies of in television football that you just end up with somehow.
It's just like stuff is just you just gotta know where to look.
You just ground running there and and so I just don't feel a need to
like grow that collection. So like you know, like when Metal Gear came
out, I bought a digital copy of it. Like I just don't care
about the physical item. You don't need the red robot hand Absolutely not,
No, definitely not like any kind of special edition stuff like that stuff has
always been trash. Yeah, that like swag type stuff that you used to
about add E three a lot. Like when you first get into the industry,
it's like, oh my god, free cool video game stuff or whatever,
and you just kind of hoard that. But at a certain point,
it's like I just don't need this plastic ship doesn't exist anymore. Like at
some point the video game industry ran out of money and they're just like we're
just not going to give away a bunch of free T shirts all the time
because it's who tears. So a lot of that stuff dried up, thankfully,
And yeah there's there's you know, like I have my mortal Kombat three
Frisbee, but there was no Mortal Kombat X Frisbee. Well, guys,
I have news for you. If you want, every month you can get
a new box full of fantastic video game swag. Tell me more. It's
a crate. I'm out full loop Nope, nope, guys, nope.
Do you like books but wait reading? No? Guys? How do you
feel about gambling? I love it, Brad. What do you collect besides
podcast advertisers, stamps? Nothing? Nothing? Really is You're nothing cluttering off
the house. Wow, you're living clean. Whiskey bourbon? I mean that
just goes right through me. Man, I don't keep it around. It's
not always bore where that came from. Whiskey on hand is not a concept
that I'm familiar with. So we really have nothing. Really, it feels
really good to just get rid of ships. After after I drove here from
Minnesota or here San Francisco, It's like, God damn, this is a
pain in the ass moving. This sucks so many boxes and stuff of a
ship that I'm never gonna use ever. And I just sold everything or gave
shit to good will, and now I I barely have anything. Like you
know, most of my box games and DVDs I got rid of and now
it's all digital and it feels fucking awesome. Like if I ever need to
move, it's like, oh, I just put like four boxes into a
thing and I'm good. Yeah, you know, I dump out all my
stuff and roll in it and I just roll around and garb. That sounds
good. Yeah, it sounds good. And then I put it in the
basement and let the spiders have at it. Yeah no, I mean they
probably haven't played those games before. So it's like it's it's a good library.
It's a resources. You guys should start from the eighties and work your
way up. You'll appreciate it. Yeah, you'll like the old stuff more
if you don't play the new stuff. Now. I have like totally have
like surprise, I have collection issues. I will like if I get one
of something accidentally, I need them all everything. Yeah, I mean it's
it's I just kind of by just virtue of like working around video games for
as long as I have, Like you know, I just got stuff over
the years, but it was never like this conscious effort to like I need
everything. And you get people that are out there, like you know,
a guy we work with Peter brown Back in the game Spot offices. I
was telling me about how he bought an empty box for a video game the
other day because it sells for one hundred dollars on eBay and he found someone
who was selling it for less than that, and it was just like and
I was just like fuck that, Like I don't want to be like,
you know, like get it going down this road of like, well,
now I've collected every single loose Super Nintendo game ever made. Now we need
them in box or now we need him sealed, which sealed and graded box
four for If you go down the spreadsheet, Oh, it's got like a
number. Oh yeah, what what game it was? Yeah? I have
no idea. I don't remember. I need to check if I have it.
Yeah, no, I have an NBA JAM for the Super Nintendo.
I have that box. Okay, sell to eighty bucks? Is that?
What's like? What kind of condition? It's got some dust on it?
It's probably it's like it's like an eighty two eight three? Yeah? Did
you get a plastic is it? Uh? Slabbed? No? I have
not slabbed anything yet. The company that slabs video games. If you're like
trying to say like, oh, I have this sealed thing that I want
to like sell for you know, as a collector's item or something like that.
Like I have some sealed stuff that you know, it should probably just
sell before I fuck up and damage it or something. I was like,
oh, boxes fell on it. Oh well, how's that magical chase doing
it's hidden away effectively and all that stuff. But I should probably, But
like the process becomes like they want you to mail it to Virginia or something
like that, and then they stare at it for a while and go,
this seems like it's real. So they do they have to turn it on?
So like do they have to make because you're you're you're sending them sealed
stuff. They say like, oh, we've got technology that's texts. If
you resealed it, you filthy bastards, and and so like they claim to
be you know that they that they can know what the original ceiling looks like.
So like, what are you going to get to ensure that thing for
like ten grand or whatever when you ship it out? I mean that would
be low balling it, I think, right if as a sealed copy of
this like super rare game that they didn't make a lot of in the US
or something like that. So it's like, I don't know, like,
yeah, you pack it super well and ensure it us as well as you
can, and then they look at it and in case it in plastic and
say it the b I don't know the plastic the box is pushed in.
So this room between the plastic and that and that, I imagine that's how
it goes, like grading anything that's VG. This coin seems rubbed down.
It's not jim mint bus collection I do have, which I of course you
have a fucking coin. It's a sick coin collection, all right. I
just want to like, for everyone here, for the folks at home,
I just want to have a disclaimer here. There is no such thing as
a sick coin collection. He hasn't seen my coin collection stamps though. That
airplane is upside down, y'all? Like what I use Spider Man stamps?
I don't know they have Spider Man on them. Yeah, why do you
have a lot of Why do you have coins? What's what is it about
coins? Like I quarters because I played a lot of arcade games and that
like short circuit in my head in this nonsense way, where like look at
a quarter quarters. Uh, it's it's yeah, that's weird. I have
a what so like I like, I said, I like, uh,
finishing out the set, right. So I wanted to get every coin that
was minted in the twentieth century, because that's an achievable goal, right,
It's like getting feathers, right, you get every feather And it said you
could do this, and uh, I do some of the coins like run
away from you and you have to chase him down. Yeah, they present
the street and she's like, oh, thank god. And coins tell a
story our nation's history. You can tell a lot where we were on the
coin. Is this like something at some point you're gonna like take your kids
and go like, let's learn about America the magic of coin? Here touching
that stuff? No, I mean you know it's like you show it to
him from a safe distance and go like, see this one g min guaranteed
it's uncirculated. These are uncirculated. These are uncirculated. Doesn't get no cleaner
in this. They're uncirculated coins. I got a whole roll of quarters,
but you know they're in the role all clanking together, rubbing off like they're
fucking useful these uncirculated. That's cool, dad, I just crashed car through
the mailbox. Well, I'm not selling my fucking coins. Get you a
new car. Uh yeah, it's ah, it's pretty sweet man. Do
you say you want come buy? Check it out? Okay, send me
pictures of all your coins everyone. Oh yeah, okay, all of them.
Yeah, even the obverse. Yeah, definitely the obverse. Okay.
I want to get a good look at these coins, like the abbies.
Yeah, okay, the fronties and the obbies that's what they call them,
right, Yes, that's right, that's tech. I didn't know you were
waiting into this. Oh yeah, I'm a philatelist. I didn't know you
the mastatists didn't. I just said, no, we can't. That's so
much more talking exactly. I just you know, it's like, I just
have to get silver because that's what Glenn Beck said to do, and coins
hasn't. They're in coins, So you gotta get something exactly for when the
end times come. Those are coming with me. I'm gonna melt the coins
down and then use the silver to make bullets to shoot the giant spiders.
Does won't work. You gotta use pre you gotta use nineteen sixty four below.
That's when the silver count the coins was high. Now it's all nickel
and copperplated. You would know you've slayed a lot of vampires. I have
slayed many. I also collect vampires. Yeah, you gotta get the complete
set. It's really hard. You gotta get the nail on the bib all
this other stuff. Yeah. Yeah, uh so that's the kind of the
other thing it's been like ongoing recently is like this this like fire, this
like running screaming away from the video game business that Konami has been doing.
Uh Like I say, that's been ongoing. Yeah, yeah, that's that's
been like, oh, let's let's call it like a five year plan that
they're nearing the end of. Right, But yeah, it just seems like,
you know, stuff that you know, before Metal Gear came out,
you started hearing all the stories about like, oh everything there is just fucking
fucked and everyone is leaving or all the you know, and now it's like,
oh yeah, and all these people are pretty much gone and and they're
pretty much not making games anymore or console games, and it's like that so
they're all chanitors now, right, Yeah, they all got demoted they all
work at the health club and the Pachinko mines uh chinco my my farm.
In that particular, like the fact that like metal Gear comes out and is
like heralded it as it's like second coming almost, and then it just being
like are we sure we want to get out of this right? No?
And then they're probably just like no, it's could the last one out?
Just switch off the lights, like we're gonna put out the soccer game then
fuck this shit Fall games. Yeah, you know, it's it's a bummer
because they have they had been when I was growing up, a very big
part of you know, Nintendo totally. Yeah. I mean they were like
they were like a pillar. They were a key name, like right up
there with like Capcom and even Nintendo itself. You know, just like when
it comes to you know, you start to take like the Ultra name into
it, and I just want to play Jackal. The drums in those games,
the Konami drums in those as games just awesome. So it's just like,
yeah, obviously like that huge thing. I'm just like Contra Castlevania,
the other Castlevania, that other Contra. At some point they got a hold
of Hudson's. So then they're like, well, now we also have bomber
Man that we're not going to do anything with. It's gonna happen to Master
Higgins. Master Higgins left the company, the real life Master Higgins is no
longer a part of Hudson And and then yeah, at some point, the
Adventure Island is closed, and yeah, I don't know, it's you know,
it's this weird thing. I think a lot of people are really mad
about it. But it's like, on on some level, I can't,
like you look at like the business reasons and you're like, I can't blame
them, right, And I think specifically they were saying, I mean you
translate this the console stuff, but it was like we're getting out of Triple
A and whatever that means, right, Like I guess that means like the
big two, big sixty dollars expensive to make games, like you know,
a lot a lot of the smaller stuff, the twenty dollars games, like
you know, it's it's a different scale. And you kind of look at
like the transition with Japan and it's been tough to kind of like, oh,
I mean Triple A has had a tough time and five years, right,
and then like Japan has been trying to like do stuff to reach the
Western market, to make their their games more global online modes that are always
kind of like this isn't the thing, man, Like Lost Planets. Yeah,
like when Lost plant two came out and they were like, we played
a lot of Call of duty to develop the Lost plan and multiplayer mode,
and you we're like, no, you didn't like when or if you did,
you didn't like watch anything it was doing, like not that that would
be like this great thing either, but and yeah, so part of me
feels like it's that's sad to me that that transition has been so hard.
Uh you know, I hear there's a pretty cool indie scene happening in Japan
now, Yeah, yeah there is, and that's really good to hear.
I mean, it's probably the same across the rest of the world, where
the indie stuff is challenging time for the Triple A stuff, But then you
get something like metal Gear and it's like, man, when that big stuff
hits, when everything comes together and works out just right, like Colors,
well yeah, but yeah that's not that much money, that chey, But
like when when Japan does Japan and they really fucking do it. It comes
together in a way that no other game can. Like, you know,
there are funny games that like try to be like wacky and like we're gonna
be fun like you know, we're gonna have funny misspellings like old games used
to have, and like they're trying to tap into what Japanese games were to
the Western market. In this really kind of like not not super authentic for
yeah, and you know not to say that like Medal Gear as a bunch
of translation problems. It's it's polished up nicely. It's it's it's a well
made weird thing, but it's weird in a way that you can't fake.
Yeah, it's weird on its own terms. It's weird in like you know,
they're going down these deep rabbit holes of like the dog has an eyepatch.
That's not that weird, that's not that weird. Pretty good, that's
good. Orse as a pleass dog is a wolf, that's weird. That's
the weird part. Yeah. And it's like like like if anything, that
game is like a sad reminder that like man like this when everything was hitting
on all cylinders, like games from you know these publishers that are you know,
not necessarily doing it the same way the CAPCOMs and Kanamis of the world,
and you know, Segas and you know different companies that have just kind
of become different things Square Inns and stuff. You know, like like there
was just nothing like it and there still isn't but surprise you in a way
that nobody else could. Yeah, but like the business just can't support that
stuff in the same way anymore, you know, especially when they're over there
looking at like puzzling Dragons and all this other stuff and go like, well,
you know, we could take the one hundred and fifty people that worked
on making you know, metal Gear or whatever other similar size game, but
what if we broke those people down. It like four smaller teams that made
free to play phone games that we you know, hooked up the line or
whatever, and then you know it's like we just crank out the money,
you know. And so yeah, I don't know where at this weird transition
point I think for the business we have been for for a long time,
and it's it's it's like one of those things where like the consoles came out
and everyone was like, oh yeah, consoles aren't dead. Everyone wants consoles,
This isn't you know, Like there was that worry beforehand, was like
or that that feeling of just like, well, mobile's going to steal away
all the console business and all this other stuff. And but I don't think
consoles are out of the woods yet when you look at some of the stuff
and you look at kind of how slow it's been to get the big games
onto the new platforms, like it's finally starting to happen this year, and
it's been awesome. There's been some really great stuff, but you still look
at it and go like, well, you know, this will see how
it goes, uh, I mean you know, And and hearing you tell
stories about how quickly your kids pick up touch screens as opposed to controllers,
it's just like, ah right, yeah, no, totally, like we're
super old and like at some point this is thanks man. Yeah, so
your kids are ruining video games. I hope you're fucking happy. I'm super
old they're but they're not touching my coins and a good call. Yeah,
you'll always have your coins, will always have buried me with my coins until
your kids sell them and use the money to buy space cars. Oh man,
Yeah, no, that's that's that's just how it's gonna go for you.
I think I was in a I was in a coin store. I'm
gonna all right, I've I have been to multiple coin stores in my day.
Okay, So there was Bill's coins, there was some other coin store
friend's coins. Yeah. No. And the cool thing about the coin store
the baseball card stores would have it also is that they would have these cases
with all of the coins laid out on these trays and then it was a
rotating series of trays and there were two buttons on it and you could push
it to make them go around in a way. Oh wow, that's fancy.
So you could like go like, no, I want to look at
that coin some more and bring it back. And that's the only cool thing
about coins, all right, go ahead and tell your story. So a
guy just brings in like a bin of like coins that he was just like
like I don't know, like this was my brothers, and they just cracked
everything open and gutted the whole thing, and like literally they should have been
melting it down on the spot. They're looking to go, we'll give you
six dollars for it around and sell it for nine thousand totally. Yeah.
Yeah, it's like game stop. Yes, they're getting out of coins.
It's really weird. The used coin market is huge. I think I think
so I should read my book. Uh yeah, I don't know, like
it's that I have. I can't. I cannot further engage you on this
coin. No, no, we'll talk about He's full of fun coin facts
that everything you need to know. It's true. There are no fun because
there are no fun coin facts. What does the D mean? It's the
mint is? Where's minted Detroit? It's not Detroit, Delaware? What the
fuck do you know about coins? Nothing? I just made that whole thing
up. I got you guys for a really long time. Oh man,
there's no coin collection, Dan, what did so you? Did you have
any kind of nightmarish collection that you like had to pare down? Geez,
I did the thing. We're like right out of college. Long story,
my dad's been divorced a billion times, and the timing went great. Where
As I was graduating, he was in the middle of getting married for the
forty something time, and so I got to move into his old house as
he moved out, and so all of a sudden. I had this three
story house that you know, to myself, and I was paying like six
hundred dollars a month for rent because like, oh, my dad didn't need
it and he owned it, so fuck you know, his son will give
him six hundred bucks a month or whatever. So fresh out of college,
it's like, oh shit, I just needed to fill this place with stupid
shit. I thought this was gonna go and started collecting fire. I started
collecting real estate, and it became a billionaire. It was weird, no,
So I was very shortsighted, and I was like, well, I
have all this space. I need to buy stuff for all of these rooms.
And so I was buying stuff like heavy bags, you know, like
boxing stuff I don't know how to fucking box and like stuff like that,
and like, oh, well, this will be my classic gaming room where
I'm just gonna put my sixty four my nes and all this stuff. And
I just filled it with shit. And then like a year later, I
got the job in Minnesota with Game Informer, and it's like, oh,
now I need to move up. And I don't just pay my dad,
I have to pay an actual person. And so now I have a tiny
one bedroom apartment, but I have three stories worth of shit that I've bought
over a year. Yeah, and fate would have it. My dad was
getting divorced at the time, so he so he moved back in and it's
like, Oh, I gotta get rid of all this shit and that this
is why he at that mortal combat to arcade cabinet in his house for like
four years that he covered with a big blanket and he brought a lady back
or something. It's like, Oh, she's gonna think I'm a doork if
I've a mortal combat machine, like, but he was too lazy to get
someone to move it or to move it himself, so it was just his
I think he referred to it as a murder sarcophagus once. Yeah. Yeah,
It's like I would pay no attention to this thing, right, Like
I feel like, like, you know, having like explaining the mortal combat
machine seems like way easier than Yeah, here's an arcade machine shaped like thing
with a drape over like what's this is? Like, Oh, that's where
I keep my painting supplies. Like what's he gonna say? Let me bring
it back to the spider thing with my dad to illustrate how lazy my dad
is. In the same house he I hung like some I hung posters everywhere
because again I was just buying shit just to fill space. And so when
he makes my old bedroom his bedroom again, there was a nail directly above
the bed. So when you wake up, like right there, there's a
big nail that I hung some sex one, of course, my sex one.
Yes, yeah, it was great. I missed that he would wake
up and just this nail. And every single morning for the last like five
years, he tells me he wakes up and he's confused when he wakes up,
like, oh shit, spider. And then he realized like, oh
no, it's that nail. But he's so lazy he won't just get up
and go whoop and just take this nail out. So every morning he wakes
up afraid of spiders that don't exist. I mean, I wake up ever
the exact the same way and there's no nail anywhere. I think that's actually
a pretty safe fucking way to live your life, is to wake up afraid
of something like, all right, I gotta get up in season to day
because no, yeah, I mean I I kind of you know, I
went through like my weird trash house phase when like I moved in with some
college girls. They all graduated and moved out, and I moved all my
dirt bag friends in. And then at some point the house got too fucked
up and they didn't even want to live there anymore. So I had it
was its four bedroom place. There was like, you know, me and
one other guy, and I was like, well, what are we gonna
do with this room? It's like, well, m so we had a
pornographic TVD as you do. Uh, And this one was good because it
was one of those value ones where it's just like it's it's just the full
sale of it is just like it's it's three hours long, and you're like,
all right, great that it is, like you need that's a good
amount of time. And it looped. It looped. Uh So when it
would get to the end of the three hours really long time, it don't
really any like ten minutes on a DVD, I think value okay, right,
right, I can't argue that. I mean, you know, if
they would have been smart, they would have had a menu that gave you
a random ten minutes every time you push play, right, But so this
thing would loop at the end. It's un Mario challenge exactly, pick expert,
pick expert for that one. Uh So we set up a telet We
took one of these extra bedrooms and then just set up a television in it
and just like said, we're just gonna have this porn film looping forever,
twenty four hours a day. Like you'd walk by the room and look in
and go and just keep moving and just like you know, it's like one
of those things were just like, oh, let's let's take pictures of you
know, I have pictures of friends of mine like holding guns next to the
porn TV. And it's just like we just like wanted to just like let's
just go full weird militia nonsense, and they're just like holies. They're all
like pellet rifles or something're holding it saluting and the two of them are staying
there between this like just you know, just porn loop. And when on
the rare occasion when other people would come into the home that didn't already know
that we were fucking idiots, that painted a pretty clear picture pretty quick.
They let people know what they were in for. They're like, oh,
I totally don't want to be here. Okay, I have to go like,
yeah, you probably should. I don't want to be here either,
you know, like this isn't we can't get anyone else to live here.
I wonder why weird? Uh? Yeah, he trapped in a thought right
now. It was a good tvd It was a long No, it was
a long which for some people is probably good. But you know, was
it was it? If you don't mind me asking, huh it was a
compilation DVD? Or is it one couple just three hours? Doesn't happen like
sitting down to dinner. I just throughout the day like should we should we
do the sex thing again? Yeah? Okay, that's uh? That out
is around your house? Should we do the sex? No? I've got
two kids. Okay, No, you're all right now? Are we sitting
down to dinner? No? This was one of This was one of those
things where like, I guess I should clarify for those of your in the
room, we haven't extensively researched pornography back when you got to get it on
TVD. I mean, the Internet changed everything, obviously. The ones that
advertise like the length of time on them also tend to advertise all sex.
What does that mean? No story getting in the way. No one's delivering
a pizza. No one's just like, oh, spring breaks going really great,
you guys. No one's like, I'm a bag robber on the run
and I need gas but I don't have money. What am I gonna do?
I'm a pretty lady bag robber. I dropped my coins all over The
police points are everywhere. I gotta get down all fours and pick up the
coins. That's that's awesome. I can help you with the coins. Oh
no, none of that set up is present. It just doesn't need to
be there in these situations. This is like the sort of film, This
is the sort of quality production you would purchase at a convenience store where I
buy all my movies. They didn't have vending machines in California. They had
vending machines and Kansas for porn. It would just be a vending machine that,
Yeah, that was literally it. It would be that sounds like some
Tokyo type shit. No, no, go to Lawrence, Kansas. Bottom
cup of rows or like condoms and lube and stuff, and the rest is
all like really shitty, Like where is this not a bowling Alley. Okay,
okay, if you're gonna tell me like, hey, you went to
an adult bookstore and they had a porn vending machine, I'll be like,
of course they did. I was in college in the out of strip clubs
in Lawrence Gass. Okay, all right, that makes sense, yes,
if you were like, it wasn't like at you know, I was at
the tennis courts next to the church and it was like I needed an nestly
crunch bar. And then I was like three hours all sex, Like,
well, I can't play tennis all the time. You can play tennis all
the time. Though, Why don't they make tennis video games anymore? What
happened? Yeah, Mario, Mario tennis coming out on with you Tennis games
man? Not like fun? Hey, virtual tennis was fun. Virtual tennis
is super fun. Like where's Roger Federer, He's a tennis guy. We
have a game, probably virtual? Like like, no one's making serious tennis
anymore, like Mario, tennis is the last thing you know, obviously rocks
are made. Table ten table the most serious of very the only serious,
like you know, not sense pong. If you'll take table tennis so seriously,
Brad Whine tennis because they grunt too much. Okay, all right,
okay, yeah, yeah, I'll take it. Okay, they just yeah,
they have three hours all grunt. Absolutely, that's that's we Tennis may
have killed tennis. I could see that, and that's I'll take that as
a valid answer as well. We sports came out and was so good,
everyone's like, well fuck all this other stuff like that seems reasonable. I've
got some emails. Oh yeah. Uh. Bomb cast at giant bomb dot
com is where you can send your emails to this podcast that we do.
And if this laptop every boots up, will take a couple of them.
And then also there's a microphone over here if people have some questions. So
anyway, well I'm not I'm asking if okay, I'm gonna ask a question
to see if anyone has any questions. Does anyone have any questions? Yeah?
Okay, all right, don't you don't need to keep your hands up
right now. We'll get there. But you know, just let's see what
we got here. I have a beer? That can I have a beer?
You? Absolutely? Thank you? All right, let's see here we've
got one from Jeremiah of Ontario. Uh says, hey, you guys have
opinions about video games, so let's hear them. They're terrible, they were
better before. Uh, what's your favorite games of the last generation? Not
the best games, but the ones you enjoyed the most. And then this
guy goes on to say, if I had to pick a favorite game of
last generation, I definitely picked Near. There are tons of problems with the
game, but while playing I overlooked them at one of my favorite gaming experiences
ever, So I guess, yeah, you're not necessarily like trying to say
objectively what's the best game? Let's tie this conversation. We need. We've
been talking about this for like damn near all years. What are the best
games of the last generation? What are the actual best games in the last
generation? That's a whole podcast, you guys, you guys are ready to
be here for another like eighteen hours. Let us start this fucking fight and
well we will finish it later. But like, what's the what, Let's
let's have it. Let's let's get his tenders, take him into just set
up a little ground rule. Are we talking? Uh? What not?
We franchise? Is this is a game? Yeah, I think you have
to pick a game, but like you. Also, if we were building
a top ten and let's say we were like huge rock band fans, you
would only pick one rock band game. But I would have to, like
say, pick a mass effect, not the front, not the series.
I think for a story based game, maybe you get a different it's a
different situation. But at the same time, I feel like we should probably
try to steer towards picking one one mass Effect two, which is to say
we're picking mass Effect two. Yeah, I'm with it as as that game
and not one, and definitely not three. Okay, fact two was a
good game like three. I'm not going to sit here and tell you that
three was a bad game. It's a good game. It's okay, I
really like Mass Effect two. Great, all right done? Next question?
Uh no, but it's you know, I think, you know, like
the ones we've been kicking around. It's like Burnout Paradise only two the matter
Burnout Paradise, Oh you would say that, and burnt and Burnout Paradise.
Red Dead the first one that comes to mind for me. Red Dead and
PS two game right the Capcom Yeah, yeah, gun right, Yeah,
it was called gun in the States. You're thinking about Gun two, And
also like, so, what's a generation? What do we where? Where's
the general six? I mean we're talking to oh five to uh what twenty
ship like a couple of years ago. Let's say O five to twenty ten.
And I think you know, it's it's probably okay to say that PC
probably gets a short shrift in this thing, just by virtue of like,
it's not really a generational system, like it sees the ports of a generation,
but like graphics hardware comes out in a slightly different way. I guess
you could say, like anything that came out in this time in this fair
game. Yeah, uh yes, we could, we could allow it.
It's an impossible conversation. I know. Let's all right here in the next
ten minutes. Uh, Mass Effect two is really good. You guys.
I'm gonna let me tell you about a game. I'm gonna tell me Burnout
Paradise. Okay, okay. It's a driving game. It's an open world
driving game. You drive around, there are races and whatever. You do
shit. But then you get online and then you're doing fucking spins through fucking
construction sites and jumping all this, and everybody's got to get up on the
thing and hit the brakes and they're like, oh, we gotta go get
up to this spot in the top of the barn to win, and then
we're gonna go jump and do sick fucking stunts. What's the story? Like,
you're a car, there's a DJ. There's a DJ who might also
be a car. You'd never see him, right, and then you find
other cars okay, I think, And then the end of it, you
take a picture of yourself to put on your license, and then when you
crash into people, it takes picture of you like this, and then it
sends it to them and they get to see it and go, man,
that guy is should put on some more clothes, because what the fuck.
It's a story about love car love. It was a really good game.
Yes, some might say the best game of the last generation of video games.
Uh is Galaxy counting that generation? Yes? Yes, that was very
good Galaxy games. Yes, absolutely, m they're the best three D platformers
of all time. So like the dying gasp of a failing genre, still
really fun. Yeah, No, those games were cool. I grew up
with them as great time they made him for a while. Yeah after that,
I guess, you know. But like the relevant days were long gone.
Mario was sixty four and that was a game. But what that's that's
not even a video game. That's like they'll probably launch an other Kickstarter for
that at some point. All right, this is apparently a larger converence.
It's impossible, not willing to have so Burnout Paradise is the greatest game of
the previous generation, followed by Rock Band three. As it turns out,
Wow, wow, glad we could come to a consensus about this and really
solve this this issue that has just been dogging us for so long. You
know what I mean? Who know? Yeah? Who knows a great game
as well? Okay, this one did. They did not include a name.
But hey, guys, how many of you would it take to fight
a bear to the death? Okay, now we can have a conversation when
it says how many of you? Is that like bomb cast? Guys?
It's us. I think all of us. Okay, let me finish.
You would be able to strategize, but no weapons. The bear is an
average grizzly and is pretty pissed. Please take a second to think and then
all state your answers at once. Thanks. Okay, so I'm with it.
Are you saying like we can strategize together. Yeah, I like how
many of us? All right, who do you? Who do you want
on your grizzly team? Drew, damn it, that's my answer. I
got Drew, I got Jason would be good too. I think Drew would
befriend the bear and turn it on us and then run and like right off
on its back. Yeah. So I don't know sell us out. I
think he would like understand the bear better than he understands us. I'm just
saying, if you, if you see me somewhere wrestling the bear, don't
help me help the bear. I'll say, not Alex, not Kam.
I think I think we would talk about the four of us, in which
case I would probably say, no, there's no chance in this even you
see what bears are like, we're all dead immediately. And I don't know
what happened. Yeah, I don't know what happened with these questions, but
at some point someone got Okay, all right, I know this has already
been discussed. Oh, this is a bat versus knife? Well, I
know this is this podcast has already discussed this at length. Has anybody his
opinions changed on the matter, and what would Dan choose. Well, I've
seen WrestleMania thirty one, so I know that bats can be sharp, right,
yeah, yeah, oh wow, the elusive bat knife. Yeah,
so I think I've got to go with a dead rising weapon. I think
I've got to go with things bat. But then you can also have a
really long knife. That's just a sword. That's what swords are. But
it isn't that just a sharp bat? No, not at all. Wait,
what's the difference? Bats are around and not sharp. You can have
like a metal bat metal, then it's a sword. I can speak from
some experience that if you take a t ball bat and beat a bike with
it long enough, the t ball bat will compress and dent in it enough
ways that it gets sort of sharp. Okay, it would be it would
be more unpleasant to be hit with my my bat than the average we're talking
about a new store bought bad. Then all right, then we're doing it's
bad. Uh, And then it's just I don't know. Again, I
don't know what happened. What if a brown bear showed up in the middle
of the fight. I don't know, Like this, come fucking grizzly talk.
I thought, I thought, I would group all the bear emails together.
Yeah that's smart. Yeah, I forget what my original bear block,
but I'm still twenty minutes on bears. Okay, yeah, I would fight
a bear with a knife. Okay, yeah, all right, And yeah
I think then I think I always said that the knife would win, because
like you you know, you might take a hit with the bat, but
if you're rushing them with a knife, you were still stabbing them up,
good, real good, just stabbing stabbed like a bear, like stabbing a
person. I'm saying, Oh, it's like if a person with a knife
versus a person with a bat, who wins The Bat's got my range?
I think the range is important. No, the range is important. But
like you could take a hit from a bat and keep going, yeah,
or if you wouldn't kissed off enough, you could get hit with a bat
and keep charging someone with your knife and get the job done. Yeah.
Whereas like you know, if you're slashing them up with a fucking knife,
like, yeah, they might still get a couple of shots with a bad
and maybe they get you in the head and get a lucky shot and you're
done. But you get the knife in there, it's gonna you just gotta
close the gap. You just gotta close the gap. I'm telling you.
Then the knife is the only choice in this show. All right, all
right, all right, one more of these and then we will we will
invite some people up to ask some some questions as well, and then maybe
talk some more. All right. My son got deep into geocashing, started
when he was five. That again also just not you think, look after
your kids. We've gone through the woods and mountains, stumbling across all manner
of creatures. But it gets more worrisome when you go more urban. In
Central Park, we geocashed and came across more than a few of your vagrant
hobo drifter types. All right, don't see why that's that big a deal
on it. In Connecticut, one geocashing trip started with him stepping on and
pissing off a three foot snake, and eventually it took us to a young
child burning a homemade tinfoil pipe behind an apartment building, as well as a
proper drifter or camp in the woods. Oddly enough, I've spotted at least
half a dozen drift or camps around town in recent years. Anyhow, Geocashing
the sport of kings wait, thanks Nick, Chester, Connecticut. There's no
question there. I've got a question, all right. Well, it's geocashing.
Geocashing is the thing where like you like get a little you take a
you take a GPS device, whether it's like a garment like amotive or whatever.
No, it's like it's this whole weird you use it to find stuff
that's buried. So like, just like people will post online like hey,
here are the GPS coordinates of some shit in the middle of nowhere, Like
there are huge websites where to list things like by difficulty, like this is
a five star geocash, which means you have to like climb a tree or
something. Who's putting something, who's putting this stuff, it's the whole geocash
community or whatever, and so you have to follow, like you'll download the
coordinates to your whatever g PS device you have, whether it's a watch or
not a motive thing or whatever, and then I've done. There's plenty Like
you're walking through the woods or whatever, and it's like, okay, well
i'm a little south of this, I gotta go there and you'll just see
some weird thing or you gotta move some leaves aside and then there's a fucking
can that someone put there and you open it up and it's filled the bouncy
balls or jacks or some bullshit like that's geo. Then you then you then
you question your life choices. Then you take the dumb bouncy balls or whatever
out of there, and you're supposed to put your own dumb bullshit in there,
and then you post, you update the thing on the geocashing website and
like move it, like move it a little bit and then post it.
Yeah, Like there are there are coins, coins and stuff that are like
tracked where it's like, oh, this one has been all over the country,
Oh, this one's been in China, this one's been whatever. I
thought that was a fun, like dumb internet thing for a while. There's
a website where you could like punch in, uh the serial numbers on money
they were they were right it on the bill yea hey yeah yeah yeah,
And it was like, you know, hey, let's try to track money.
And I there was a while there that I was like, this is
fun. I want to see where my money's been. Other and like used
to snart cocaine, like all money. Uh, and I just entered all
these bills for a while and never there's never one that had been hit before.
Like I did it for like six months. I was like every every
time I remember, like, oh, look like I'm a fucking idiot,
but I but I guess I was making it better for the next person who
did that. I was like, Oh, I was. I was in
San Francisco with the stallar bill. That's cool, right. So the whole
thing is like you can follow your phone to the coordinates like when I was
doing it, like it wasn't specific enough of a GPS device. What do
you need like a GPS device? Are there different ones? Can you collect
them? Yeah? And hey, I mean let me just like not to
fucking like spice up the pot here for you a little bit. Uh,
when the ship goes down, Yes, you're probably gonna want a GPS device
in your bug out bag. Nope, solar flag the solar flair will cause
a giant amp unless I put it in my fairy. I was gonna say,
like, if you're not keeping your bug out bag in your fcags,
then you're already fucked. True bury the storage container underground. Uh huh,
so it can't be foultoned along with the my my private satellite that I'll launch
after. Of course, who doesn't have a private satellite. They're just waiting
to launch. I don't know. Uh, un preppers, that's not a
word. It's like the seven up of prepping. It's the unpreppers. It
s to the see. Okay, so they used to seven up at one
point was called the uncola. And there's it. No DNL Right, you're
talking about this. I saw one hand at the audience. All right.
Yeah, that guy's old. It's just like us found him out. All
right, So let's talk about some questions here. We'll get one more question
here, then we'll take your questions. Uh. Nick here says what video
game is most evil? I can't well, yeah, Destiny, Destiny the
crowd going to the crowd leaning in on Destiny here. Yeah, I think
any game that keeps you coming back for hundreds of hours and does not offer
anything of substance in return. I played will like look like I don't want
to like. Look, we're a video game website. Once on some level
we are reliant on video games being successful to continue having a livelihood. But
I'm gonna stop you there. No video game has anything meaningful after you spend
hundreds of hours on it. I agree, there's there's they're all. They're
all evil in that sense. I'm talking about the ones that people will spend
like thousands of hours on. Like at a certain point, it's like,
Okay, you've seen the content, you know what this game is. You're
not getting anything out of this. Like again, when you said the thing
about Doda, like, oh, you gotta play a thousand hours to like
know what you're doing, It's like, fuck that it was only a hundred.
Come on, you set a thousand about this. You set a thousand.
No, I didn't. When we did a upf and you hit your
thousand hours, you're like, okay, now like a thousand hours. Oh
dude, oh that's awesome. No, the real metchhor you care about his
games played? Let me not, yes, hats purchased, yes, yeah
uh yeah. So so in some sense, all video games are the most
evil. But I think we can probably say Destiny and Doda. I played
four hours of Destiny this morning. It's my girlfriend's birthday. Happy birth No,
we don't know the rights, we don't know the rights. We can
I'm sorry, you can't tell you. All right, Happy birthday, to
you party time. It's a birthday for a family and it's time to go
too bad? Should we should we take some people question? Yeah, let's
raise your hand if you got some questions over here? All right, I
just want you come up to this microphone here, grab this microphone off the
stand. There was a microphone in that stands. It's right, okay,
it's right over there. All right. Uh, pick up that microphone and
let's talk. Let's break it down. Let's chop it up. Yeah.
Hello, you can't you can't stand behind stand in the light. It gives
you like a christ like vibe. Yes, father, Yeah, of course
you do. Hello. Hello, names Jeff? What is yours? I'm
Luke. Hello Luke, nice to meet you. Uh. This is my
first time listening to a bomb cast drunk and it's pretty great. But you
are us. It's the first my first time recording one sober so so yeah.
Uh so, you guys played the Mega Man Legacy collection recently, and
it's a question that I've actually always had for you guys, is what would
your Mega Man villain name be? Ghurst Man? Yeah? Well, yours
makes sense absolutely, it's done. Yeah, I mean yeah. My Twitter
profile was Shoeman for like a year, so yeah, totally uh yeah,
normal man, smart meat Ball, Meatball man. Nope, just meat Ball.
That's a mega man X boss. That doesn't count. He's a center
square okay, all right, he's like a doctor Wiley Villa and he's like
the Yellow Death. Hey listen, they want to know something, Meatball.
Don't play by the rules. All right. He flings coins at you,
but don't worry. The coins are graded. That was my question. All
right, you thank you? All right? Who we got? There's one
of you. Yeah, it's a come up and let's wrap. Let's really
break it down here real I had twenty minutes of table material, but the
Macarroys stole it all earlier. They got up here first. They didn't steal
it is parallel on the table. The side thing is awkward, though.
You're right, yeah, you're just this like a theory, real like being
voice and just like yes, take me. So previously, you guys have
talked about playing games as kids and kind of like getting one game for a
while that you kind of just sunk a bunch of hours into, and so
nostalgic kicks in a game that I've never heard anybody talk about. It was
an N sixty four game called Hybrid Heaven, and as a kid, I
absolutely love this game and I've never played it since. Did you guys ever
play it? Yes? I think I reviewed Hybrid he What did you think?
It's not a great kind of It was one of those one of the
few games that was trying to do like cut scenes and full voice over stuff
on the sixty four, which is a terrible fucking idea. Yeah, it
was no good. Thanks, Yes, I appreciate that. It's it's that
that thing was. That thing was a rough piece of business, and the
only thing I remember about it is that, like it was one of those
reviews that people were super pissed off about because it was trying to do so
much. There were some people, like you know that only had an N
sixty four that got it. They were just like, this is a cinematic
masterpieces have been waiting for. It's our metal gear. It's our metal gear,
right exactly. It's just like, no, no, it's totally not.
Sciphon Filter is your is everyone's metal gear sixty four? No, but
sci Filter's everyone's metal gear. It's the real metal gear solid win Back Yeah,
No, win Back's another another one of those where you're just like spy
fiction. Oh god, all right, next way to yeah you have a
question. There a four point one for iberd Evan. That sounds generous.
It was a weird scale back then though. Yeah, science went into it
as opposed to just like what was in here, So well, yeah,
you plug in the numbers. So this question is for Brad. I used
to have long hair, and I used to okay, doubt put up the
palm aid and all that. Sure, I wonder what kind of palmade you
wear in your hair. It's American crew, American crew. You gotta step
up that game, jeez man, like you gotta get some Murray Man,
you gotta get some like I'm new to the game here, Please be gentle.
It's now mail some to you. Can you break it down for me,
like what would what would stepping it up? What would it do to
what he's got because people seem to like what he's got. No, it
would look it would look like what he's got it we're talking and we're talking
medium hold, high hold, Like what's the sheen like? So here's an
American crew to finding paste over here? Honestly, I mean, hey,
glad, you want to know what I use American crew shit, all right,
we need to step it up fast. So like what I used to
use. It used to like you know, you could run a comb through
it again to day, but it would also hold a nice hold. If
it gets hot though it kind of melt, but you know it's not It
probably doesn't get too hot here now when you talk about like like when your
hair was long, are we talking like my hair? It used to be
you had a fade, so you shaved the side. You were like a
metal drummer. You're a heavy metal drummer. I had a fad u palmade
back and then suddenly sometimes ay said, I had a pompador in the front.
Okay, on the side fade or a taper, there's difference. And
then so I would I would, you know, get it kind of damp
and then you put the palm maide in have a nice hole throughout the day,
and then it would wash out at night. See that's it's but but
how did you go long enough to where it was like in the back you
were like literally like sometimes I need a pony tail. I mean I could,
I mean one time I did, like the bun on top of my
girlfriend's like no, no, no again, no no no, she wasn't
about that. That was the one time I grew my hair out, Like
I started growing it out long and then like at some point I'd died the
front of it red because we had been drinking. Yeah and uh, and
it was like everything was going fine, and then there was an animated gift
of like there was some video we shot. This was like back in the
game Spot days where I was like checking my head back and forth, and
it's just like I saw what it looked like because I had been kind of
trimmed asides and it was like a kind of mushroomy kind of thing. And
it's like I saw like heavy metal drummer pony like tight tight tight ponytail shaved
sides in my future with where the hair was going. And I went out
and got a hair like two days after that, I was like, oh
fuck this, I'm out. I'm out, I'm out my mine. I
used to, you know, keep it kind of trimmed on topic but a
little bit longer than brawds, but okay, good to know. Also,
Dan, what are you looking forward to tomorrow? What match are you looking
forward to the most oh and added champions uh Boy, Seth and Seena seemed
to work together well. And do you think right back will hurt Kevin Owens?
I sure hope not. Okay, Kevin Owens to win that? Yeah,
I know, oh yeah, I've got a solution for all of you.
Here it is. I've found great success with this uh and I think
that there's something that you know you could deploy it in your lives and see
great, great results. Stop fucking watching wrestling, JEP. That would bring
down the number of things I understand by fifty percent. I think of it
as creating room for new understanding. I'm good with the video games and wrestling
thing is stuck with me pretty well since I was like eight years old.
I don't want to change that. Now. I can't go all video games,
I can't go all wrestling. I want to keep that fifty fifty balance.
What if we were to tell you about coins, Oh, go on
at great length please. Time has a fantastic history. It's just the old
Eisenhour dime. I'm all right. He was Barry was for fun. That's
where old he came from. Old Eisenhower. They used to have called it
the bedrock of their Union. That's what I called it. H there's the
Mercury Dime go on, and then there's the Roosevelt Time. That's it.
Okay, time's gonna suck. Yeah, No, I dropped dimes a long
time ago. Let's go. You do your question there, all right,
Let's try and get these two questions out here, and then we actually have
to wrap it up. You guys, we'll be we'll be hanging around.
We can talk a little bit after. Hi. Hey, I've been a
fan since like the Game Spot days when you were first starting out on the
Hotspot, and so over the year, I've heard a lot of stories from
Jeff and particular about like working with other employe's back then, like with Ryan
Davis and whatnot. And someone i'd heard you, I've heard you know,
you see that you got along well with was Ryan McDonald and I. And
since I guess I don't know, he doesn't work at game Spot anymore,
right, and he's moved on, But like, did you ever have any
like interesting stories to tell about him, like being in there with him during
the game Spot days days or anything like that. I mean Ryan McDonald for
those don't know, he ran all the video production stuff on game Spot for
a lot of years. He and I both started there in ninety six.
Uh and uh when you know, and I knew him since we were both
sixteen. Yeah, yeah, and uh and yeah he was doing strategy guides,
so he was like he was, you know, off chewing tobacco and
playing Super Mario sixty four, just spitting in cups, riding down how to
get stars to build these strategy guides while I was off reviewing games and not
chewing tobacco. And uh yeah, No, we got up to a lot
of like pretty good high jinks over the years. But I will tell you
a recent Ryan McDonald's story that maybe tops all of them. Okay, he
flew a drone over the White House and got arrested by the Secret Service earlier
this year, and then he posted about it on Facebook. Yeah yeah,
like he put again, I just saw something from face on Facebook from him
there was like, hey, just you know, hey, here's your PSA,
don't fly drone over the White House. It's illegal. And I was
like, well, that's a weird thing to post. And then never thought
about it again. And then someone else that we worked with years ago,
I was like, did you hear about Ryan fucking Secret Service attack on him.
So yeah, he was flying like a camera drone, an unmanned vehicle
over in Washington, DC, which is apparently apparently very against the law.
Restricted airspace, restricted airspace. He did very different fence than ever since.
He loved Game Spot. Yeah, no, it's like when he when I
got out of a Game Spot, he was just like, fuck it,
man, all bets are of Actually you know, that's no, that's not
that different. That's not that different. Like if he had been a Game
Spot, he would have been trying to fly drones over E three. Like
he was responsible for a lot of the like let's make E three coverage like
one step crazier this year, Like let's strap backpacks to people and have them
run around the show floor live with live streaming backpacks back when that wasn't actually
barely possible, and stuff like that. Like he was. He's a hustler,
yeah, absolutely, always pushing the envelope, trying to figure out ways
to get shit done. Yeah. Yeah, like I never like Vinnie worked
under him, Yeah for a little bit there at Game Spot. Yeah,
he's a hard working man. Yeah, remember hearing there was some story about
you and him, snuck into like an adult film convention or something like.
Yeah, I mean, you know, so back before E three was the
Video Game Convention, there was a whole separate thing that was like part of
CES. So you would go out to the consumer electronics show, and part
of the consumer electronics was videotapes, and part of videotapes was pornography. So
we were sixteen wearing like our like sports coats, trying to look like adults.
I mean it was just like Buckshot act and He's just like, no
one's gonna fucking believe it. Whatever, we got done, and like met
met pornography celebrities. Uh. And then similarly, you know, met Razor
Ramone, uh, you know at a different video video dealer convention, and
that was pretty cool, too nice. There's that I will say that.
Uh, you guys can back me up on this there. That game's about
live crew could take on a couple of grizzlies. They were yeah, they
were savage, they were they were they could get anything done with zero equipment
and zero budget, uh and figure out ways too. Live bunch of guys.
Yeah yeah, like a tough crew of like and just those guys could
drink all right, let's take our our last question there. You had won
there and we will h This question is for Vinny First. John, my
name is John. I thought Contradiction was one of the greatest series you guys
have done. That was really something else. But it got really crazy when
the cast emailed in recordings and was clearly watching you guys play, and I
was wandering to that just weird you out or like affect your kind of commentary
of the game. Uh. You know, that is a really good question
because sometimes you want to try and operate in a bubble right of like oh,
we're doing this stuff, or like we're goofing and all of a sudden,
somebody pokes a hole in that bubble and it's like I'm on the other
end of this and I've made that thing and like I don't I don't hear
anything. But those guys were super nice, uh, and it was great,
But like, while we're in the middle of recording it, it's weird.
It is weird to interact in that way because you don't want it to
affect it. You definitely don't want it to have that seed in your mind
of like, oh, what I'm saying right now is good. You know,
we are savaging parts of this product or not or not for yeah,
or or like we're being nice because other people are are listening, or you
know, you don't want that in there, and so, you know,
I think we kind of tried to avoid as much as it as we could
while we were recording it, but then afterward watched a bunch of it and
it was hilarious. It's really it was really funny. They had a great
sense of humor. But yeah, it is that can be a little weird.
It's kind of weird. I wish it weren't, but uh, it's
something that you know, we're still We've talked about this a bunch. It's
like that editorial right, Yeah, it's like we're in this Yeah, we're
in this thing where we're like, you know, trying to render you know,
meaningful opinions and trying to be an editorial outlet along the way. And
then like everything is kind of headed in this very kind of entertainment driven direction
and you know, like whatever, we have fun as well, but we're
like we're trying to keep the core of it, uh sound, We're trying
to keep the core of it, like you know, trustworthy, trustworthy,
yeah, and and as a result, like you know, there's like big
fun opportunities that were just like, no, we can't do that because that's
super shady, or like you know, like I can't go host a PAXs
panel for a publisher because like I review games or I talk about games in
a review like way, we don't necessarily review them many games and these days
and and so it's you know, we we try to stay on that side
of the line. Uh. And yeah, it's it's weird. It could
be a little weird. And like you know, I I wish those guys
the best. I really enjoy their game. I thought it was awesome,
and I thought they were good sports about the whole thing. Uh. But
like and pardon me, wanted to get out there on Twitter and when I
saw that stuff and be like, go buy their fucking game because it's awesome
and we're playing that. We're playing it, and we should have a symbiotic
relationship where like you know, we're gonna use this thing and that you know,
they should get something out of it. But that again just is where
it just gets weird. Uh. And so all I can say is I
really enjoyed their game, Like you know, uh, and I hope they
have more to come. Yeah, well we will have more to come on
giant bomb dot com on Tuesday, when The Giant Bomb Cast returns with a
regular episode where Brad will assemble the news stories of the week and okay,
sure, and what games we've been playing, which is apparently it's just metal
gear. Like we need to probably start playing other video games because that segment
of this show will get fucking boring. Let's get back to destiny. Oh
god damn. All right, well now, thanks everyone for coming. We've
got a lot of Destiny to play. Uh and thanks everyone for coming out,
all right, and thanks you the quest. Yeah, thanks to everyone
for you know, having us come out. It's been don't see more stuff?
Yeah, there's stuff. There's other shows going on. Is like Obama's
here or something? All right, hey, Jap. Later on we'll be
hanging out here a little bit, but I don't think we're gonna end it
like anywhere else. Well yeah, we'll probably around the hotel. Yeah yeah. Relays
