00:00:00 Speaker 1: You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio. 00:00:04 Speaker 2: Update the poll results if you can from the first two hours. 00:00:07 Speaker 3: Dylan h Yes, Dan, So, if you don't quite understand the three to two one NBA Draft lottery proposal, you are in very good company. Apparently eighty seven percent degree Yeah, and then put one of Pauli's up New Sports that we need shots discouraged RCI quality at bats or other Seventy eight percent say. 00:00:28 Speaker 2: RCI receiver caused interception if the receiver breaks the wrong way, quarterback is the one who gets dinged with an interception? 00:00:37 Speaker 4: Yes, Paul, Yeah, because quarterbacks have on their docket twenty two interceptions. Who's at fault if it was a fumble, the running back will get credit for the fumble, not the quarterback will handed it. 00:00:46 Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree, I agree. I'm fine with RCI. 00:00:50 Speaker 6: Give quarterbacks a break. 00:00:53 Speaker 2: They get everything, you know, following this Rams situation with the whole tyson and it feels like they're trying to be overly protective or sensitive to Matthew Stafford's plate that you didn't get a wide receiver or a tight end who was available. Yeah, your pick of any of those skilled position guys, and you take your heir apparent, your replacement. And it just feels like this conversation has been about, Hey, we got to make sure that we playcate. Matthew Stafford that he's okay with this, and he knew that this was going to have. I talked to him about the Look if I'm Matthew Stafford, am I thrilled about this? 00:01:39 Speaker 5: No? 00:01:40 Speaker 2: This is about my career and my time. I need another weapon here. I mean Ty Simpson, good luck. You know he can watch me play. I know Stafford's thirty eight. And if you're Sean McVay and you're upset that people are upset that you were upset, then eat it. 00:02:00 Speaker 5: It's okay. You know I'd be upset, all right. 00:02:04 Speaker 2: We got a quarterback, man, I'm really excited for the you know, in three years from now. I'd like to have a weapon right now because we have the best odds, according to DraftKings to win the Super Bowl. 00:02:16 Speaker 5: That's all. 00:02:17 Speaker 2: But it just feels like they're trying to massage Matthew Stafford's feelings here. It's bringing Albert Breer, Monday Morning quarterback, senior NFL reporter. Are you reading into this the way I'm reading into this with they're worried about Matthew Stafford being upset or his feelings here. 00:02:37 Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, I think it's like part of it, Dan is just like the look at how this has gone historically, and like what Jimmy Garoppolo's arrival in New England in twenty sixteen did to the relationship with Tom Brady, what Jordan loves arrival in Green Bay in twenty twenty did to the relationship with with Aaron Rodgers as actually twenty fourteen on Jimmy Garoppolo, not twenty sixteen. 00:03:03 Speaker 6: So you know, and even if you want to go way back what. 00:03:09 Speaker 7: Aaron Rodgers arrival in Cream Bay did to the relationship with Brett Favre in two thousand and five, or. 00:03:14 Speaker 2: You can go back to Denver with Tommy Maddocks and John Ilway or. 00:03:18 Speaker 7: Steve Young and Joe Montana and San Francisco. Right, Yeah, there's a lot of history, you know. So I think like the idea was, like, we need to be careful about the way we approach this, and you know, like ty Simpson's still a rookie and when he comes in here, he's going to know that. 00:03:38 Speaker 6: And I mean, look like, what's the like, what's. 00:03:44 Speaker 7: The upside to just prioritizing making ty Simpson feel great? I mean, like you want him to feel good about going in the first round, don't get me wrong, But it's not like there's some sort of huge benefit long term ty Simpson is going to get from that, and there is, you know, some downside in it, and like, you know how that might make Matthew Stafford field. So you're sensitive to all of that. It's a delicate thing. And as other people have said too, I mean, this is ostensibly taking McKay lemon or Omar Cooper or Kenyan Sadik out of the equation for Matthew Stafford as well. And that's something that people sometimes don't realize about these sorts of situations. I mean, the Packers hadn't drafted a receiver in the first round since two thousand and four when they took Jordan Love in the first round twenty twenty, And of course Aaron Rodgers is sitting there saying, wait a minute. So I've been here for fifteen years and you took another quarterback in the first round before you ever took a receiver, you know, So there's that sort of nuance that I think plays into it as well. And ty Simpson is going to be fine coming out of this, you know, I don't think any feelings are hurt. 00:04:51 Speaker 6: I think he'll be okay. 00:04:52 Speaker 7: I think the relationship between coach and player generally goes way beyond what you might see on TV, as it should. 00:05:00 Speaker 5: But I'm wondering who were the rams in competition with that? 00:05:04 Speaker 6: You? 00:05:05 Speaker 5: Yeah, could you have traded down though, Albert? 00:05:07 Speaker 6: Yeah? 00:05:08 Speaker 7: So I think there are a couple of things at work here, Like, you know, I think number one, you know, you're right, Like, I don't think anybody would have taken him in the first round. I think to some degree, this is part of the cost of This is part of the cost of trading the twenty ninth pick for Trent McDuffie, which then they get a very very much now a win now player in an all pro corner who you can plug right in and you don't need to worry about him acclimating to the pros the way you would with a rookie. But you know, if they had wound up holding onto that pick, my guess would be we'd probably be talking about mackay Lemon or Omark Cooper and then and then and then and then Ty Simpson as a twenty ninth pick as part of this equation. You know, the issue really was there was that gap between thirteen and sixty one, and how do you navigate that? And I think as you continue to talk about it, this is where you talk yourself into if we like him that much, we shouldn't risk him. Like if we view him as having the potential to be you know, a Drew Brees type of Rythman timing passer and somebody who's such a good fit for what we do, and somebody who you know, on tape, we could see him doing so many of the things that we're going to ask him to do, which is exactly what Sean McVay and his staff saw. Then just take him, because here's the thing. At that position, and you know as well as I do, this becomes a yes or no question. Either yes, you got it right, and you're extending him four years from now, and my god, that was a great investment of the thirteenth pick, or he's on another team and the picks a complete disaster, you know what I mean. Like, so at that position, it is such a yes or no thing. 00:06:52 Speaker 6: I think that's that's what. 00:06:54 Speaker 7: Pushes teams to take quarterbacks in the first round, even when they know other teams might not feel the same way about the player. 00:07:00 Speaker 6: And if you look at it, the history shows us and this is over. 00:07:04 Speaker 7: I mean, I've got a chart in my computer as a twenty six year sample going all the way back to the year two thousand, where there are more quarterbacks, far more quarterbacks taken in the first round then the second and third rounds combined. I think the number is like seventy six in the first round, seventy seven in the first round versus like I think fifty nine or fifty nine or sixty in the second and third rounds come by. 00:07:28 Speaker 6: Well, why is that? That's because if you. 00:07:30 Speaker 7: View a guy as being capable of being your long term starter at that position, you're just gonna take him in the first round, and if you don't, you're going to seek that type of player at another position in the second or third round. 00:07:41 Speaker 2: Mike Rabel came back from Utah out there with marriage counseling or I think his wife went with him. But coming back to the Patriots, how big a story is this in the New England or Boston area with him coming back. 00:07:57 Speaker 5: Now, I know it's global, it's huge. 00:08:00 Speaker 6: Yeah, I would say it's massive, you know. 00:08:03 Speaker 7: I think that this is sort of, you know, not to turn this into a media discussion, but I think this is sort of across the rubicon, and it's not an NFL story anymore. 00:08:12 Speaker 6: It's like a celebrity gossip. 00:08:13 Speaker 7: Story, which leads to the scenes that we all saw in the Salt Lake City Airport, you know, with TMZ people following you around and people staking you out and all that different stuff. And I think the unfortunate thing about this, for for Mike Fraribal and Diana Orsini is that the public is basically going to determine how how much longer this goes. You know, it's basically up to everybody, you know, and when they open their social media apps and they click on stories, it's gonna you know, I think, like how far this keeps going is going to be determined by how long the public you know, winds, you know, it remains engaged with it. I think that's how you know, the TMZ people, dot com page sicks, that's how they operate, you know. So I think this follows Mike around for a while you know, and my guess would be that you'll probably see hints of it during the schedule release in a couple of weeks, with the way that the teams all make fun of each other, you know, during the schedule release, and you'll see it when they walk into any other stadium in the summer for preseason games, and then in the fall. 00:09:19 Speaker 2: You think teams are gonna mock Rabel and the Patriots in their schedule release, Well, you know. 00:09:25 Speaker 7: What's interesting about that. I mean, you've seen what the Chargers do every year, right, Like it's like nothing's out of bounds with the Chargers, right, So my guess would be they will, and if they don't, then there's gonna be a story that they didn't. It's gonna be a story like everybody does someone tell them to shut up, you know what I mean? Because it does feel like with these schedule release videos. I don't know how many of them consume, but it does feel like to me like almost nothing's out of downs. So, you know, I would think that this would be kind of. 00:09:53 Speaker 2: Well, they brought up a Spotify playlist right of hers that was rumored to be or reportedly for Mike Vrabel going through a losing streak in Tennessee or something. 00:10:07 Speaker 7: Right, So, like do the Chargers have like when the and the Chargers up in their schedule, do they have like someone holding a phone with a playlist on it or something like that? The references are going to keep coming, you know what I mean. Like, That's what I'm saying, is like that the music they play in the stadium when when the Patriots are in town, they're gonna be constant references. 00:10:27 Speaker 2: I mean, there'll be somebody holding hands, There'll be two people maybe holding hands or something like that. 00:10:33 Speaker 7: Right, it's like the Coldplay thing, right, Like I'm you know what I mean, Like it was how often was that referenced? 00:10:39 Speaker 6: You know what I mean? 00:10:40 Speaker 4: Like? 00:10:40 Speaker 6: And I think that that's that's the interesting. 00:10:43 Speaker 7: Thing about it, is, like I I mean almost like I look at this like it kind of like makes me like think about how I trade some of those other situations. It's like, you know, everybody had their fun in the Coldplay situation. Those are private citizens, you know what I mean? Like in like now are we hands off with this? Because as you know, we know the people I you know, I know both of them, and you know, I really like like I've really like, I think they're both good people deep down, and like I, I hope that they get their personal situations sorted out one way or the other. But I I'll definitely approach it differently because I know the people, but I know there are other people on the outside that won't, you know, And that's I think how it follows the Patriots around. 00:11:22 Speaker 2: Albert Breer the Monday morning quarterback. Yeah, and then Rabel taking off that last day. Why did he skip out on the final rounds there? 00:11:32 Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean I think that like some of that is, you know, I'd imagine that if you're in that situation, you know, with your with your wife, with your kids like that, you know, you want to show that you're committed to to to trying to fix it and in whatever way, whatever way you best can. 00:11:51 Speaker 5: But it felt pr spin to me, and it might. 00:11:53 Speaker 7: Have been yeah, and I and I wouldn't and I wouldn't rule it that that out as a possibility as part of it. 00:12:00 Speaker 2: Look, if you need therapy, go now, don't wait until I just I just know. 00:12:05 Speaker 7: I mean, Dan, have you ever been in a situation with your wife where she says, no, we're doing this right now? 00:12:11 Speaker 6: And that there's like nothing you can say. 00:12:13 Speaker 7: Yeah, maybe it's as simple as that, you know what I mean, Like maybe like if you screw up something, not something like this magnitude, but you screw up something and then your wife maybe says to you, like, hey, you're gonna put that other stuff you're doing, so we're gonna go take care of this now. 00:12:28 Speaker 2: It might be like an oil change nothing like you know this with Rabel like you just I mean, like this is a normal human. He's just like okay, like she's serious, I'm gonna go. You know, like the Brendan Sworsby Texas Tech quarterback he's in rehab now for gambling. 00:12:47 Speaker 5: Yeah, what are his options? Pro NFL was. 00:12:51 Speaker 6: So I've dug into this a little bit like so. 00:12:55 Speaker 7: And talk to some people I know and respect in the college level, some reporters who you know, Pat forty Pete family and buddies with, and then like some people I know in the college football world, and you know what, what I've gotten back pretty consistently is it seems as if this is cut and dry and he's going to lose his eligibility, and then the question becomes, okay, like does he go to court, And so I talked to some lawyers about, Okay, if he goes to court, could he get an injunction so you could play while it's in court. And what I've gotten back from the lawyers I've talked to is that he's really unlikely to get an injunction because this is such a clear rules violation. In other words, to get an injunction, you've got to prove that you've got a reasonable chance of winning. And like, because this is so cut and dry, there's a good chance he'd be denied an injunction, you know. And so if you're looking at this and you're him, and it's like, okay, there's maybe a very small chance I, you know, I wind up gave my eligibility back. And maybe you're just chasing the money at that point. Like what I heard was, you know, again, like I heard that the nil somewhere around six million, with a million of that going back to Cincinnati as as some sort of buyout. I don't know exactly how all of that stuff works, but you know, are you chasing that five million dollars called five million dollars? 00:14:12 Speaker 6: Or is the better plan. 00:14:15 Speaker 7: For you now just to go to the NFL and you know, the supplemental draft, the NFL can determine whether or not he's eligible. But I mean over the years, they've let guys in who you know, were in eligible Frenzya reasons. That's Trell Pryor we've seen them let guys in who were you who are in eligible you know to play because for drug reasons, right, and that was Josh Gordon. We've seen a ton of these situations with academic in eligibility in the past, and so like like the trouble the NFL will get into in denying him entry. And this is so thorny for them because of you know, the businesses they do with all the gambling companies is essentially they're trade association. So can a trade association deny employment to a guy or do they have to let the companies make that determination? The companies in this case would be the teams, right. And then if you're one of these teams, right, So I'll give you four teams that have kept the powder dry on really going all in on a quarterback in anticipation of next year, and what could it be available with your Dante More, your your CJ. Carr, your arch manning, all of those guys, right, So that's the Jets, the Cardinals, the Browns, and the Dolphins. Those four have kind of those four of I think left themselves open the possibility they take one high next year. If you're one of those teams, you look at and say, let's just throw a second round pick at this, you know, do you say, I mean, and I've heard this guy's talent like and I haven't yeah, I haven't dug into it, but I've talked to a few guys who say, this guy's got like real top of the first round ability, right, So do you throw a second round pick at him at this and say? 00:15:56 Speaker 5: Yeah? 00:15:57 Speaker 7: And you know, like if it doesn't work, we just go back to the first round next year. And then I you know, you start to kind of like dig deeper. And it's like if you're a Pittsburgh or Minnesota where you say, we're going to be at the bottom of the first round next year and we're not going to have a shot at like a Manning or a or a More or a car. Do we throw a first round pick at this on the premise that it's going to be a low first round pick. I mean, it's such a fascinating case, and we'll see what happens. 00:16:26 Speaker 6: The gambling thing is obviously a part of it. 00:16:29 Speaker 7: Does the NFL let him in and do the Torell Prior thing where they impose a suspension on him. It's just it's there's a lot to dig into here, and a huge part of it is I think the talent that this kid is and I know that there are some NFL people that feel like just from a physical ability standpoint, he has. 00:16:47 Speaker 2: Top of the first round talent final thirty seconds. I'm federally mandated to ask you about Aaron Rodgers. Yeah, is there anything that's changed in his status? 00:16:57 Speaker 6: I don't think so. 00:16:58 Speaker 7: I mean this is what so this was got less attention last year, but these UFA tenders went to went to JK. 00:17:04 Speaker 6: Dobbins. 00:17:04 Speaker 7: The Chargers put a UFA tender on him last year at this point, and the Browns did it with Elijah Moore. Those guys signed with different teams, but basically what that did was that protected those teams' rights to get comp picks for those guys if if they signed somewhere else, which both of them did, but both of them, neither of those guys did enough to get comp picks for those teams in the back end, and then once you get to camp. It makes it so if another team's going to get that player, you have to sign them and trade them. And so it basically sets it up so the Steelers could get a return for him if he winds up playing anywhere else next year. Now do I think the Steelers are doing that without a prising of it prising them of it. 00:17:48 Speaker 6: I don't, you know. 00:17:49 Speaker 7: I think the communication has been good between you know, team and player. And my guess would be like he I think he comes back, but I don't. 00:17:57 Speaker 6: I don't know for sure. 00:17:58 Speaker 7: The Steelers don't know for sure, and I think this is just a mechanism that they can use to protect themselves in the case that he decides he wants to come back and play for somebody else. But I would say, like right now, if he's going to play anywhere, it probably be Pittsburgh. 00:18:13 Speaker 2: Thank you, Albert, you got it, Thanks Dan. That's Albert Breer, the Monday Morning quarterback. His friends call him Burt. 00:18:20 Speaker 5: Bert. Kentucky Derby is coming up this weekend. Who would have thought, Yes, Mark. 00:19:49 Speaker 5: Are we going? 00:19:50 Speaker 2: No? 00:19:53 Speaker 6: Can we? At some point? 00:19:58 Speaker 2: I would look into it next year? How about that? 00:20:03 Speaker 3: All right? 00:20:04 Speaker 2: Yeah, I'd look into it next year. We got to strategize where we're going to go next year. Okay, we have the Super Bowl, we have the Draft, we have Tahoe, maybe Formula one in Vegas, maybe another football game. 00:20:21 Speaker 5: I still got to get to Iowa. I got to get there. 00:20:25 Speaker 3: I did a rod that's on the no. 00:20:29 Speaker 5: Ryder Cup. Oh maybe maybe, yeah, Paul. 00:20:35 Speaker 4: The twenty twenty seven Kentucky Derby Saturday, May first, twenty twenty seven. 00:20:40 Speaker 2: Okay, plan accordingly, but that'll be the last year for me, So maybe we try to do as many as possible. 00:20:50 Speaker 5: We go barn storming, yes, Martin. 00:20:52 Speaker 9: That'd be a tough turnaround draft. 00:20:55 Speaker 5: Oh yeah, Derby, Yeah, I don't think we could do that. 00:20:57 Speaker 3: What about the Belmont while they're still that's Saratoga? 00:21:01 Speaker 5: No, but I love Saratoga. 00:21:03 Speaker 3: It's great. 00:21:04 Speaker 2: Yes, even if there's no racing. Go to Saratoga downtown, really wonderful. Nice little weekend with your wife or girlfriend see the leaves. Yeah, oh yeah, foliage absolutely, yeah, Paul, I. 00:21:18 Speaker 4: Would love for one weekend to dress like I was at the Kentucky Derby. Even if we don't go. 00:21:22 Speaker 5: Well, why don't we just dress up Friday? That's fine. You dress up as if you're going to go to the Derby. 00:21:30 Speaker 2: I just finished watching a show and it's one of those where I stumbled upon it and then I gave it a shot and I hung in there. 00:21:41 Speaker 5: Big Mistakes is the show. 00:21:45 Speaker 2: And Eugene Levy's son Dan Lorie Metcalf is spectacular. 00:21:54 Speaker 5: Just watch the show for her. 00:21:56 Speaker 2: It's there's a lot of really really funny parts in it. Now I'm still watching Rooster with Steve Carrell, very funny. 00:22:07 Speaker 5: Let's see. I finished dt F Saint Louis. I know, yes, Dylan. 00:22:17 Speaker 3: I finished watching Beef yesterday season two. 00:22:20 Speaker 5: Yeah. 00:22:21 Speaker 2: I tried to watch season one. I didn't get. I didn't get about fourteen minutes in. 00:22:26 Speaker 3: Now season one I thought was good. It's hard to tell if I think these shows are good anymore. There's too many. 00:22:32 Speaker 5: I'm glad there are too many. 00:22:35 Speaker 2: I am, I am it, just I need them all to be around twenty three minutes long or fourteen minutes, because even even an episode like Rooster, which is maybe twenty five minutes. It takes me two sittings to watch that all the way through. I have my attention span is gone. 00:22:57 Speaker 5: Yes, Paulin so. 00:22:58 Speaker 4: Big mistakes with Dan Levy and Laurie Metcalf getting very good reviews. You saw him in Shit's Creek, right, Yes, man, that guy's funny. 00:23:06 Speaker 2: He's the characters are great in this, and but Laurie Metcalf is stealing the whole thing. So you have her son and daughter. Okay, Laurie Metcalf's mom is dying, and Laurie says to her her son and one of her daughters go out and get her a necklace. It can be a cheap necklace. Well, they end up going to a jewelry store that they didn't know. It's kind of a front for the mob, and they steal this necklace that is very, very expensive. So they put it on Grandma and then they realize that they have stolen something and the mafia, the mob wants it back. Well, it's on Grandma as she's buried, so they have to go. They have to go and get they have to go six feet down to get that. Now they're indebted to the mob, and now they and I'm guessing it's been renewed for year two, season two because they ended on kind of a cliffhanger of sorts. But she's running for mayor. Meanwhile, the candidate she's running against was photographed with strippers and on his boat. So that's Oh, by the way, the son is a minister who's gay. Yes, yes, so Dan Levy is a minister and he's gay, but he's hiding that from everybody. 00:24:37 Speaker 3: It's called big mistakes and it's good. Yes, Neil, what would you call that mob adjacent? Because I know traditionally you're not the biggest mob show movie fan. It's a fun mob kind of adjacent. Yeah, like they're kind of idiots. 00:24:58 Speaker 10: Yes, When did it's start where you had a tough time sitting through a twenty five minute show in one sitting around? When did that happen to you? 00:25:05 Speaker 5: I can't remember. That's part of the problem. 00:25:09 Speaker 2: I think I've always and it's not fair to Paul when we go to commercial break and I walk out and I got to keep moving, and so Paul he's trying to go, hey, next segment, well next okay, and then. 00:25:24 Speaker 5: He's got to get up and walk with me. 00:25:26 Speaker 2: Or when I come back and then we'll say, hey, by the way, we're going to do a steal of the of the drought. Okay, all right, fine, but I like I walk out in the garage. I walk outside, I go see the big german, I go see you know my dog. 00:25:40 Speaker 5: It's gotten worse. Yeah, I do. 00:25:43 Speaker 3: Have you considered an Adderall prescription? No, you'll power right through those shows. 00:25:49 Speaker 5: I don't know. I know that I would love Adderall. 00:25:53 Speaker 6: No. 00:25:54 Speaker 5: No, I can't borrow. 00:25:56 Speaker 2: I know, but I can't get rid of one problem and I et another problem. 00:26:03 Speaker 4: Yes, fall, So I'm so used to this with you that it doesn't even concern me anymore. The walk by on both sides of the break, it's like I'm the pit crew guy and I'm trying to talk to you in the nine seconds before and after you could leave. 00:26:16 Speaker 5: It's like, I know, I know, I know, but I'm used to it. I know. 00:26:20 Speaker 2: Todd will go, can we go over a potential guest for tomorrow? And I go okay, and then I keep walking and then I just say, just talk. 00:26:29 Speaker 10: I thought all this time you're being rooted and dismissed. It so you actually have a problem where you got to just keep moving. 00:26:33 Speaker 2: But it was probably both Todd feel a combinations. Yes, Marvin, I. 00:26:37 Speaker 9: Love how you're walking away while Todd's trying to do that. He goes, what else, Todd, you're walking away from saying what else? 00:26:42 Speaker 7: I know? 00:26:43 Speaker 5: I know, I know, and I know I know. 00:26:45 Speaker 4: Yeah, pull back to the thing you're talking about with TV shows. There's an article, I think in the La Times the other day the NFL is partnering with this place, Skydance Studios. 00:26:54 Speaker 5: Yeah, it's all that. 00:26:54 Speaker 4: Yeah, and they're doing this John Madden film which everyone knows about. There's going to be a new film about the New York Giants called Mister Irrelevant, like a Christmas movie. There's gonna be one called The Land. It's a Hulu series about the Cleveland Browns. I think Christomer Aloney is in it, Mandy Moore, William H. Macy's like legit actors. But the NFL is partnering with studios to do football movies, Okay, at least like Hallmark. One of them is Yeah, one of them is called The Land. It's a about the Cleveland Browns. Guess what lovable loser type script, et cetera. 00:27:31 Speaker 10: Yes, I'd love to see the four hundred page document of all the things you can't touch on or refer to that would put the NFL in a bad light. 00:27:37 Speaker 3: Yes, Dylan, Yeah, is there going to be a Patriots one at some point? 00:27:41 Speaker 2: Ooh man, I wonder when this dies down with Mike Varible and Diana Rassini, Like what now if the season was starting, then it would die down. 00:27:55 Speaker 5: But I don't know. 00:27:57 Speaker 2: Because when it's a slow news day, my feed is just full of And then it came out that did she have a Spotify playlist that she made for Mike Vrabel? And her son is named Michael, and is he named after Mike Rabel? I mean the tentacles attached to this are just mind blowing. Yeah, Pauling. 00:28:20 Speaker 4: It feels like this story will come to a crescendo when she sits down with someone and does a full interview. 00:28:25 Speaker 5: That's where it's like. 00:28:26 Speaker 4: Oh man, everyone will lean into it, and if questions are answered good, bad, or ugly, then it will just kind. 00:28:33 Speaker 6: Of ease off for her. 00:28:34 Speaker 5: I don't know, but. 00:28:35 Speaker 4: Everyone's waiting for that interviewer, a real statement or a real post from her side. 00:28:41 Speaker 2: I think I don't think you can sit down and have it one of those interviews. 00:28:45 Speaker 5: I don't because you've got to worry about his family too. 00:28:49 Speaker 4: But if she, I'm sure there's a lot of messy stuff going on family wise. But for her to have a career again in sports media, she will have to do a full sit down. It's like marking up checking a box. 00:29:01 Speaker 5: I just I don't see it. 00:29:04 Speaker 2: Because if she came on this show and the number of people in the media who have said to me, would you interview Diane Rassini, and I said yes, but I would need to know am I interviewing you? Or am I part of the pr spin with this? But I'm not giving you questions in advance. I'm going to be able to ask what I want to ask. But then you know, it crosses over to you know, is this am I tmzing this? Like? How am I really doing? What's the service I'm doing for this audience? If I I mean, is it exciting maybe scandalous? Yes, but you know these are lives, they're children here. I mean, Rabel's wife didn't deserve this, Diane and his husband didn't deserve this. There's kids involved in this. Now, maybe they deserve this, but you know, I mean there's there's a lot of kind of ancillary damage here. And if you're having her on, he's not going to come on. But if you're having Diana on and you start asking questions of how long has this relationship been going on? How serious is this relationship? You know, did he help with you know? How did he help you in your job? You know, they're all kinds of clips now that are coming out and now people reading into it. But I don't think you can be an NFL insider after this. She's not an analyst. You know. Mike doesn't get punished. I mean, he gets self imposed punishment at home. But as far as the Patriots, nothing's happening the NFL. They didn't break any rule. Yes, Marvin, have you ever. 00:30:58 Speaker 9: Been requested to do an interview with a controversial figure or somebody who that's had a controversial scandal. 00:31:05 Speaker 5: Yes, yes, a couple of times. A couple of times. Joe Mixon. 00:31:15 Speaker 2: When he hit the woman when he was his student at Oklahoma. His agent thought that I would handle it correctly, pac Man Jones, His agent thought that I would handle it in a respectful way. 00:31:33 Speaker 4: Yeah, Pauline, these are dated, But there was a basketball coach named Larry Stacey. I think it was Iowa Stayed. He had a bit of a scandal there with students and we got the interview. Yeah, no ground rules. There was a one years ago where Kobe Bryant had a thing with an official and everyone was calling for Kobe, and we got ahold of Kobe's agents said we'll do it, no ground rules, and Kobe came out, had a few. 00:31:58 Speaker 5: Yeah. 00:31:59 Speaker 2: But I'd been asked to give questions in advance and I've never done that. I won't do that. I don't care who it is. I've lost out on a big interview because I would I wouldn't give up questions. I'm like, no, like you're either doing the interviewer, you're not. I'm not giving you, you know, the answers to the test. I want your honest reaction when I ask you these questions, and if you respect me as an interviewer, then you have nothing to worry about. But I did miss out on a big interview just because I wouldn't share the questions. And Todd goes after everybody like he was always. He'll call anybody and we try to if we're talking about somebody or something, then we'll try to get that person on. And this is something that you know, we were all taught journalism one oh one. If you're going to talk about it, see if you can talk to the person who's talking about it or it involves them. It doesn't always work, but you know, it's never because lack of effort, because Fritzy will call everybody, anybody. All I have to do is say Todd and he knows. Sometimes I don't even say it, he just he knows to do it, or Paulie will tell him to do it. 00:33:13 Speaker 5: But it's tricky. 00:33:16 Speaker 2: And you know, two reporters who have great respect for asked me about what I interviewed Diana and I said I would And then I said to them what would you do? And they said that they wouldn't do the interview. I said, that's fair. But there's football involved in this too. There's you know, stories attachments to this that are football related. 00:33:41 Speaker 5: Did you get. 00:33:42 Speaker 2: Information that had to do with you helping the Tennessee Titans when Mike was there? That's real, Like, there are real stories out there. He wasn't there for the draft. Now he once again we tried to get him on in Vegas last year or in Tahoe and he didn't want to do it. That was the celebrity golf tournament. But you know, I'd like to know, did you plan your statements? Did you collaborate to have a statement that you released, you know, the fact that you know, we thought that somebody hired a private investigator and that wasn't the case, and then it was well it was Mike's wife, No, it was Diana's huss There's a lot involved in this, and I think this is more of a sit down with the Today Show, not necessarily a sports show guest dealing. 00:34:40 Speaker 3: I do kind of find it hard to believe that either spouse would want to like I mean, I could see hiring a PI, but to have those take those photographs and then leak them publicly, which reflects you know, like I wouldn't want that if I was in their position, Like, I don't think you want to drag the mother or father of your kids publicly, even if that is going on. 00:34:59 Speaker 2: Well, the story is and it's been out there that this is kind of somebody who saw this, not affiliated with Diana or Mike Rabel. Maybe it was somebody at the hotel. I don't know if it was somebody who worked at the hotel. But I don't think this was a private investigator. 00:35:17 Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think so. 00:35:18 Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, we'll take a break. Last call for phone calls, what we learn, what's in store tomorrow back after this. 00:35:24 Speaker 1: Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to listen live. 00:35:36 Speaker 2: I was wondering out loud that when does this story with Mike Brabel Diana Rassini die down? It's really up to us, you, the audience. If you click on these stories, there'll be more stories. When you stop clicking on these stories, that's when it starts to die down. I don't see it dying down anytime soon, because it feels like there is more stories, potential stories, memes that are attached to this. Rabel has to be in the public's eye because he's the head coach of the Patriots. I can't imagine Diana Rossini's life right now and any possible future. You know, maybe there's a podcast where you're your own boss and you decide what you want to talk about. But still it's tough, you know, that's that's a tight rope, Yeah, Dylan, Yeah. 00:36:34 Speaker 3: I mean it's hard not to feel bad for both of them, particularly Diane at this point. I mean, it's like this stuff said on a timer where it's like, just when it's starting to fade, something in another picture pops up on Twitter and just restarts the whole clock again. 00:36:48 Speaker 5: Yeah. 00:36:48 Speaker 2: Yeah, let me see Jay in West Virginia. Good morning, Jay, thanks for holding. 00:36:58 Speaker 11: Hey Dan, how are you great? 00:37:01 Speaker 1: Hey? 00:37:02 Speaker 11: You was talking earlier about the best team that never won an NBA championship and the worst team that won an NBA championship always got back to two thousand and three, two thousand and four Lakers of Pistons. 00:37:15 Speaker 5: I think that's a combination of bath Well, I'm trying to think, yeah. 00:37:22 Speaker 9: Marvin, Yeah, so the four Pistons. You know what, in two thousand and four, I was like, man, this is the worst team ever. But going back, they went to like six straight conference finals. That starting five from top to bottom, Chauncey Rip, Tayshawn, Ben Wallace, Rashid Wallace. That's a really good starting five. So I don't want to act like those guys were just the O one six ers. 00:37:45 Speaker 5: Terry and Cheattle, Hi, Terry, Hey. 00:37:48 Speaker 12: Good morning DP. I'm the Pox Nation. I had an idea for your final year. You guys would have to road trip to Belmont set up if there was the slightest chance that they're a triple crown winner. I mean, the hype, as you know, is unbelievable that week, and you and the triple crown winner could sail off into the sunset together. 00:38:10 Speaker 5: Thank you. 00:38:11 Speaker 2: We could both retire to stud Oh, okay, what's your rate? Haven't established it yet? Jeff and Iowa? Hi, Jeff, what's on your mind today? 00:38:25 Speaker 5: Hello? 00:38:25 Speaker 3: Dan? 00:38:26 Speaker 11: Good morning guys, A longtime listener, first time caller. Five to ten? Too much? All right now? Dan, you are talking road trips this morning, and you tease this island's about two years ago with the trip out here, I'm going to Louisville. 00:38:48 Speaker 5: Come, Jeff. 00:38:52 Speaker 2: I ruled out going to the Kentucky Derby. 00:38:57 Speaker 5: I said, I want to go to Iowa. It cost money. 00:39:01 Speaker 2: If I told you how much money it costs to go on the road take the show on the road, You'd be like, no way, Yes. So we have to make sure that we have sponsors who were willing to pay. 00:39:15 Speaker 5: And I'd love to go to Iowa. I said it. 00:39:20 Speaker 2: Field of Dreams, Cornfields, Iowa Campus, Iowa State. Yes, Kevin Costner, Kevin. 00:39:31 Speaker 5: Here, you come with us? Yeah? 00:39:33 Speaker 2: Will Ferrell would, yeah, Will would probably, But yeah, I do want to go to Iowa. 00:39:41 Speaker 3: Yes, Dan slip knots from Iowa. Of course they are. What if we crowdsource? What if the State of Iowa funds our trip there? 00:39:50 Speaker 2: Well, maybe like the tourism board there you go, they could pay for us to go out there to Iowa. Just get a hold of the big He's the one asked to drive the TV truck out there. But there's other things. The All Star Game is going to be at Wrigley Field next year. WHOA, yeah, I know, Mom, No, yeah, all of us, let's go. 00:40:12 Speaker 6: Yeah. 00:40:13 Speaker 2: We've talked about the Army Navy game. We talked about the Hall of Fame game with the NFL Baseball Hall of Fame Masters. Villanova Notre Dame college basketball from Rome. 00:40:29 Speaker 4: Yeah, I just heard about this. There's a doubleheader basketball game near Vatican City. 00:40:36 Speaker 5: Is the Pope going to come out? 00:40:38 Speaker 7: Yeah? 00:40:38 Speaker 4: He's a Chicago guy. Outside guys from Dalton. He knows how to ball. 00:40:42 Speaker 5: This day in sports history Paul. 00:40:44 Speaker 4: Had a couple for you, Dan I got oh, You'll love this. Nineteen sixty one, ABC's Wild Wide World of Sports premiered. That was a lot of fun back in the day. And Roger Clemens nineteen eighty six of the Red Sox struck out twenty Mariners. 00:40:58 Speaker 2: In eighty six, the Buccaneers took Bo Jackson with the first pick in the NFL Draft.
