Now for all the people underneath the snow on the East Coast and the Midwest, I see this hack on social media and tell me how this could go wrong, because it looks smart. Have you seen more and more people putting like a big blue tarp on their front porch and over their car and then in the morning they just wake up just pull They're like there, their front stoop doesn't have ice or snow and their car is perfectly clean. 00:02:27 Speaker 3: Why has no one ever thought of it? So like it seems so obvious. 00:02:30 Speaker 1: It's a hack I think originated with the pets, because if you have a dog and you're trying to take it out, it's so used to that patch of grass people leave a tarp or some sort of mat and then unveil it so that grass is clean for the pets to go poop poop, peep be in right, So I think the same rules apply for the car, and they're just switching it up and working. 00:02:54 Speaker 2: Smarter, not harder. And how long until we're done shoveling snow like we are? We almost to the point if there's little robots that deliver stuff, and there's way moo waimo self driving cars and I'm still scared to get him. By the way, it's only a matter of time before you go to the you know home deep r lows and they're like, yeah, a self shoveling robot five hundred bucks. 00:03:13 Speaker 3: Gotta be right. 00:03:14 Speaker 1: I mean, you see, so robots are stealing jobs from teenage kids, is what you're saying. 00:03:18 Speaker 3: That's next. 00:03:19 Speaker 2: And then the other question is what's the going rate. I don't know about you, Dan Bayer. You grew up in a snowy place, Danny g you were out here in LA. You are up in northern cal You don't count where it snowed. That was like my income at times, like I would go round the neighborhood trying to shovel people's walkways and driveways. 00:03:35 Speaker 3: Back then, the. 00:03:35 Speaker 2: Going rate was twenty bucks. What do you think you'd have to pay a kid now to shovel a big s driveway in at he's sixty, that's probably fifty sixty. I think, well that's including tip. Back then it was ten or twenty if it was a short little you know, the little lady's walk away. 00:03:52 Speaker 4: If you are and we're not talking about suburbia, we're talking kind of city where neighbors are relatively close. I still think twenty bucks is sufficient because it probably would take you about fifteen to twenty minutes if you had to do someone's walkway the sidewalkways. In sidewalks, it's probably a pretty good going rate. 00:04:10 Speaker 2: That's how I would buy all my video games. I would stop snowstorm, tell you what I was out there at eight am, like let's go. 00:04:16 Speaker 1: It's like what you give a kid for a birthday party. Used to be twenty bucks. Now that going rate is like forty to fifty bucks. And if they're having to add a bowling alley or a different venue, it might be sixty to one hundred bucks. I think it's a little more than double than what it used to be. And I'll tell you what rich If we have time this hour, because we got last one standing, we're giving away prizes. 00:04:37 Speaker 3: We still got to talk about. 00:04:38 Speaker 1: Colleges and STDs and more football. If we have time, things you thought you'd never do again. Because I actually had to shovel. Talk about the weakest timing. I'm out here for work and meetings and to see family, and you know, my parents are seventies. I can't say I took the brunt of it, but me and my brother had to shovel today, and I thought I wouldn't be doing that again. 00:05:00 Speaker 2: We live, I mean, what do you why don't you be a piece of garbage. If you made your boomer parents shovel their own walk. 00:05:06 Speaker 3: I'm here, but I never did shovel. I didn't shovel when I lived here with them. Hey Dad, Hey Dad, go outside of shovel. If you die, you die. I guess, like, what are you gonna do? Your dad's in his seventies. What if I die? How about me? 00:05:17 Speaker 1: So anyway, Uh, we'll try to get to that later on. But your next success can begin sooner than you think. 00:05:25 Speaker 3: Apply now. 00:05:25 Speaker 1: I see that our application fee through February eleventh. Again, thanks again to UMGC DOT E d U, and let's continue taking your phone calls. At eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox, we gotta talk Browns. Yeah, the brown Pro Bowl, the Browns. 00:05:40 Speaker 3: So the Browns. 00:05:41 Speaker 2: I would say, how many thoughts did you run the snow shoveling circuit in Iowa? 00:05:44 Speaker 3: Oh? Absolutely? I yeah. I would be the guy to do our our driveway. I was seasonal, man. That's how I was a little hustler. 00:05:52 Speaker 2: I was trying to make I was trying to bide Nintendo games of Baseball cards. I shoveled snow, I raked leaves, I washed cars like I was now the. 00:05:59 Speaker 3: Only hustle rich it does is the dance. That's it. 00:06:02 Speaker 2: Now, I'm trying to learn the dougie. On Instagram day eighteen of me learning the. 00:06:06 Speaker 5: Dougie, I actually found audio of Steve Covino's dad yelling at his sons. 00:06:11 Speaker 6: I thought, I told you boys, just shoveled at Wow. 00:06:15 Speaker 3: I can't believe I had that in the system. That's going way back. 00:06:19 Speaker 1: Week is honestly, thank god, my brother did most of it. But I did have to do that today, and you know, so did most people around the country. So hopefully you guys are safe and enjoyed the weekend, and you did have that snowed and feeling where you got to watch the games and just chill out and enjoy it and maybe some of the fights, you know, maybe watched a special or two. 00:06:40 Speaker 2: Yeah, Before we get to the Cleveland Browns, who you know, approving time and time again, they're they're more of They're one of the more embarrassing organizations in sports. 00:06:49 Speaker 3: Right they're starting quarterbacks at Pro Bowl. It's true. 00:06:52 Speaker 2: I did a lot of people chiming in with on the intro about the cost of a kid's birthday party. Now where you're right. It used to be throwing to twenty bucks an envelope. But if they have their party at a bowling alley or a slime party or. 00:07:04 Speaker 3: Some place, oh at a. 00:07:07 Speaker 2: Like a sky zone, you gotta yeah, you gotta like throw a kid forty fifty bucks easy. 00:07:13 Speaker 1: It's usually forty fifty bucks every birthday party my kid goes to nowadays. 00:07:18 Speaker 2: What are those things in life that you're just shocked that have gotten so increasingly expensive? I remember when you and I first started doing our show. Dude, just how about leaving the house. 00:07:30 Speaker 1: It's like every day is one hundred dollars plus between God forbid, you got to make a gas run. Make a gas run, and you buy some bread and milk, you buy a sandwich. Everything's at airport prices. Nowadays your lunch cost you thirty bucks. 00:07:44 Speaker 2: I thought of something as simple as God bless the subway sandwiches. I remember you and I used to go in New York City all the time. I remember they always had that five dollars foot long commercial dan CC Sabbathia. 00:07:54 Speaker 3: They had last song had a sweet baseline. 00:07:55 Speaker 2: Dude, five five dollars. They are in the time you and I have done the show and we've been friends. We used to go get five dollars subway sandwiches. 00:08:04 Speaker 3: Here and there. 00:08:05 Speaker 2: I went to Subway with my kid a couple of weeks ago. She's like, Dad, I want a sandwich. It was like fifteen dollars or a full of sandwich. 00:08:12 Speaker 3: Dude. 00:08:12 Speaker 1: When I take my after school, your kid will go, can we got a far box? 00:08:16 Speaker 3: Or can we go to chick fil A? 00:08:18 Speaker 1: Right, and kids love canes and love just making a quick stop, that quick trip to chick fil A, just because my kid has a hankering for something to eat after school, just to hold her over to dinner time is like an eighteen dollars cost a few times a week Chick fil A, just an eight piece nugget with a fry and a drink is eighteen bucks. Again, we're in LA, It's probably different everywhere. So yeah, just stepping out of the house isn't cheap. So if your kids are going out to shovel or you have some kids stopping by twenty bucks, ain't cutting it, dude, because it ain't getting them anything. When you when you travel, you know we're going to San Francisco for the Super Bowl. When you used to wait when you used to check a bag in an airport. 00:09:00 Speaker 2: Again, I know time is passing, but they remember the standards like twenty twenty five bucks to check a bag that so quickly became like forty bucks. 00:09:08 Speaker 3: I mean not that we're paying, we're in the company dime on this one. 00:09:10 Speaker 2: But when you check a bag on your own, are you like forty bucks, forty or fifty bucks. 00:09:14 Speaker 3: To check a bag? You ain't kidding? Huh? Really? Okay, okay, and it went really quick. 00:09:19 Speaker 5: You want to talk price increases, how about parking at a sporting event or at a concert. I mean that used to be what thirty thirty five bucks? And you're like, okay, I got that in the budget. Now it could cost the same amount as your ticket to get into the show or. 00:09:32 Speaker 3: The game, right. 00:09:35 Speaker 6: No. 00:09:36 Speaker 1: Sebastian Manascalco in his latest special, does a whole bit on that. He goes, you know, you go to the amusement park or whatever, and they're screaming seventy dollars for parking. He's like, that's not something you shout. You apologize to somebody for charging that much money for parking. 00:09:51 Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's it. 00:09:52 Speaker 2: And by the way, if you go to sofi out here if you could find seventy good luck. A couple of years back, I went with my wife and a couple of you went to go. 00:10:00 Speaker 3: See Stevie Nicks and Billy Joel. 00:10:02 Speaker 2: It's so far. I think the deal I got. When I say deal, deals like you have to walk extra like a little parking. 00:10:08 Speaker 3: Also, it was like. 00:10:09 Speaker 2: Eighty five dollars and that was like the deal. We got a deal, guys, eighty five bucks to park. I got one more and then we'll move on to football. But if we're venting about pricing, if you go out for a nice steak dinner, I mean, then again, who doesn't like a nice steak dinner? 00:10:27 Speaker 1: When when you think that rich they post that on social media. You'll get a few people telling you that Megan's not that. 00:10:33 Speaker 2: I'll be honest that there'll be one person that's like steak no way vegans. Yeah, I feel bloted after not a fan spot. You and I have no overt for years. But picture me and Covino maybe five, ten, twenty years ago going out for a steak dinner. Don't you feel like the way overpriced filet or ribbi used to be forty forty five dollars, was like forty was like, oh you're a nice steakhout. Forty five you got Del Frisco's. Or maybe you go to h forty five. Maybe Mastros are like the really. 00:11:01 Speaker 7: For a for an eight out eight to twelve ounce filet, Yeah, the the roofs, Chris, their prices were. 00:11:07 Speaker 2: Rus Chris was like thirty eight to forty five dollars and maybe a little less. Yeah, you go to like a Vegas or New York City or La steakhouse now. 00:11:17 Speaker 3: Seventy eighty dollars seventy five for an eight ounce like double like it's one hundred of person. Yeah. 00:11:24 Speaker 2: At this point anyway, I digress. Enough enough venting, but I digest. I just hey, if you try to hunt it for your entre. 00:11:32 Speaker 3: And that'll be uh ninety four dollars. Thank you, Sam. 00:11:36 Speaker 2: All right, let's let's turn the page to the Cleveland Browns. Now, if I were to ask you of all the coaching carousel jobs we've talked about, Dan Byer's been busy because I feel like every day of the last week or soe there has been this coordinator that quarter this head coaching job, this guy's interviewing Dan Byers. 00:11:55 Speaker 1: Did Dan Byer ever give us the timestamp of who congratulated him. 00:11:59 Speaker 3: First on Hawks win over the weekend. 00:12:01 Speaker 1: I did not, because I'm dying to know how quick Rich was to the jump. 00:12:06 Speaker 3: Just to get the blak I let it breathe. 00:12:08 Speaker 1: I wanted to let him. You had to let it breathe. Yeah, I think that's part of the etiquette. 00:12:13 Speaker 4: This is Pacific standard time. Rich Davis seven oh one, Steve Cavino six fifty four. 00:12:22 Speaker 3: Wow, seven minute gap. I would argue, I would argue, you didn't let it breathe. I did let it breathe. 00:12:29 Speaker 2: I'm like, all right, let him celebrate a little bit. High five a his kid man. You don't give him a huge brown A little bit. 00:12:35 Speaker 7: I wait a little bit, because I know he said on Friday when we were making our picks that he doesn't touch his his phone is away, he doesn't his phone touch his phone, So you gonna give him a chance to catch up. Yeah, exactly. 00:12:49 Speaker 1: And maybe he paused the game, which I wasn't really factoring that much into because I imagine he's on the edge of his seat, but you never know where they are in the game. 00:12:57 Speaker 2: You know, it's a wild phenomenon when you were a fan of a team and your friends and family, and especially Dan Bayer, who you know big in the sports world, when people know your team, I do find it's such of funny how when your team wins we all get congratulatory messages as if we did something. 00:13:14 Speaker 3: Yes, but I like it nice. It's nice. 00:13:17 Speaker 2: But I'm saying, like Danny, if the Raiders would have big game of the Dodgers a Lakers, isn't it funny? 00:13:21 Speaker 3: How like people like congrats, Danny, like you did. 00:13:24 Speaker 5: Should know I paid for season tickets in Oakland for ten years. I do find this some of that's my money. 00:13:28 Speaker 2: I do find like Dan Byer probably just had all these congrats messages, and it is funny because he's a big fan, he's a sports guy. But it is funny how we get messages as fans. 00:13:38 Speaker 4: It also I would say, like if you were let's just say I lived in Seattle or was a native. I'm sure fans are sending texts to each other, but I think it's because we're remote and so we live in a spot that we aren't necessarily from or where the team is from. So there's a lot of different fandoms, so it's easier to point out ah Rich is a Mets fan, Caveno's a Yankees fan, Danny's a race. 00:14:01 Speaker 2: It is funny, though, because you are so identified in your circles of friends buy those things. So when your team wins, it is a cool feeling. You look at your phone, you're like, man, I got a ton of messages, and it's like all the randoms from work, like congrats, man, like I worked really hard on this one, so congrats. 00:14:19 Speaker 3: He rooted hard. He rooted it hard. Uh. 00:14:21 Speaker 2: Now, we talked about the Cleveland Browns. Now all these coaching carousel moves, Who's going where, Who's taking what job? We talked about the appealing ones. Hardbad jumped on the Giants one. For all we know, he would have stuck around for the Bills one had it happened earlier. Bill's hot job opening. Danny g your Raiders with Tom Brady at the helm, and it seems like, you know, Mark Davis gives some power to who it is, and you got Mendoza lined up, You have rock Bowers, you have genty, You just need some some pieces. That to me is an appealing opening. I think Miami, I know they made their decision as a city, but I took Miami is it's just a destination, is a place to live? I know, Yeah, that was taken by Green Bay's defensive coordinator. 00:15:06 Speaker 3: Correct. 00:15:06 Speaker 2: So these openings and they're being filled and the coaching carousel continues. From what we're reading, the Cleveland Browns, which we all agreed was one of the positions that doesn't feel that appealing, like going to Cleveland, the offense Cleveland that itself is like, all right, I'm going to Cleveland. Fun times in Cleveland, gaes Cleveland. 00:15:29 Speaker 1: There's jingles on YouTube that we've been singing for twenty years that just paint the most terrible picture of Cleveland. 00:15:36 Speaker 2: And I'm sure it's the lovely city. I mean, we've had fun times out there. Let me read this message that we saw on social media. Danny g hit us up with this one Cleveland, which again and you're not even sure what you're doing a quarterback is you're not sure if Shador is the guy. You still have Deshaun Watson technically on the roster. You don't know what's next for Cleveland. There's so much uncertainty. It's like you have Miles Garrett and the rest is like what now and a decent and a decent defense. The Browns get this are facing criticism for their unusual head coaching hiring process. Candidates are being asked to take personality tests, write essays, write essays, and complete homework assignments, something no. 00:16:16 Speaker 3: Other team requires. 00:16:18 Speaker 2: NFLS Tom Pellisero Palisaro notes this may be why top candidates like Jesse Minter, Mike McDaniel and others have pulled out of wanting to coach Cleveland, because they're making this like a really assignment driven, like do your homework thing now. 00:16:35 Speaker 3: I'm a big fan of going. 00:16:38 Speaker 1: Just a few hours ago, Jags OC Grant Yudinski withdrew from the process because it's such a pain in the ass and not appealing. 00:16:46 Speaker 2: And the thing is, I get it, you want to go into And I'm a big advocate of going into a meeting or presentation or anything prepared. Know way they went to college, know if they're married, or you don't know what their sports alliances. I feel like these things help you along in personal and social and work settings. 00:17:01 Speaker 3: Did they have kids like cheese up and Schmooz? 00:17:04 Speaker 2: Yeah, But I mean, like the Browns making an unappealing job. Even that much more of a pain than the ass is so Cleveland Browns to me. So we had our video producer Spot go into AI though we are robot free, and iHeart isn't that the sacon is guaranteed human guaranteed it. We are guaranteed humans. Everybody Notch is a very good tool. I'm I'm a human being. But our video guy Spot put in to AI an essay if he were to apply for the Cleveland Browns job, and it's amazing. 00:17:34 Speaker 3: What comes up? I think I may get the job? Fuck? Can you read? If you're the only guy apply. 00:17:39 Speaker 7: If everyone's backing out, let me tell you it's hoot to apply with this essay. 00:17:43 Speaker 3: Let's see you ready. Okay, here's what I got. 00:17:45 Speaker 7: The Cleveland Browns are a franchise defined by resilience, loyalty, and unfinished business. Few teams in professional sports carry a fan base as passionate or as patient that reality demands leadership that understands pressure, accountability, and culture. 00:18:02 Speaker 3: As much as play calling. 00:18:04 Speaker 7: I believe I am the right coach for the Cleveland Browns because I bring clarity, credibility, and a people first approach to an organization ready to turn belief into sustained success. 00:18:18 Speaker 3: Wow, Spot, I think you got the job. 00:18:20 Speaker 7: I could go on, It's incredible. Let me just give you my my summation. 00:18:26 Speaker 2: So what I'm saying is coaching candidate just thrown into ANI and then send it off. 00:18:30 Speaker 7: The Browns are not searching for a miracle. They are searching for leadership that aligns talent, culture and accountability. I Spot am prepared to lead that alignment. With the right structure, belief and commitment, the Cleveland Browns could move from promise to permanence, and I am ready to coach that transformation. 00:18:50 Speaker 3: Spot's a great essay. Spot. If you're a kid in school, how do you ever do homework? Again? 00:18:58 Speaker 2: This is the this is the demisive society. A. I just gave you an essay that would get you the Cleveland Browns coaching jobs. Good luck asking a kid to read? 00:19:07 Speaker 3: Uh? You know who jostled the limb again? Uh? 00:19:10 Speaker 2: Phineas and a separate piece, separate piece? Good luck reading books and doing book reports. Popping an Ai were doomed? Sam not his head. Every time we do this. Sam is a anti AI guy. Huh hm, I'm seeing it unfold, right, in front of us. 00:19:24 Speaker 1: So you know what it is people are And I say this disrespectfully, Okay, but when you're dating like a pretty average person and they have all these like unrealistic demands, it's like you're really not that awesome to be barking all these orders. 00:19:38 Speaker 2: Oh you ever see like a fat girl on TikTok talking about what she demands out of a man. 00:19:42 Speaker 3: He needs to make six figures, He needs to do this, he needs to have this big package in his hands. 00:19:46 Speaker 1: Feels yeah, come on, Cleveland, you're getting some qualified No, the Cleveland Browns making it so difficult, you know, high five bro. 00:19:55 Speaker 2: Cleveland Browns are the fat check that's like, I need a guy to make six figures, has a big package and any's. 00:20:00 Speaker 3: Six feet tall. With analogies like that, you may need my essay. 00:20:03 Speaker 1: Rich Now, some people, right, and some organizations have to take what they can get and just do their best. They're making it way too difficult and they're gonna lose that a lot of quality people as a result. I mean, and if you don't believe us, just listen to the updates. So many people are backing out because of these demands. 00:20:23 Speaker 2: Can't say fact, girls anymore. So what you're getting at no comment, no comment. Okay, I'm not tying myself to that. That was all spot Rich David. I was just reading a statement that spot put into AI. Sorry, all right, he listen, we have more covene on retch. 00:20:36 Speaker 3: You know we're gonna do. 00:20:37 Speaker 2: Next, A game that gets Covino nervous, A game that gets us all nervous. Damn Buyer's here. So the challenge is to beat his ass. I mean, he's already won this weekend with the same day Hawks less one standing. This is the game that sweeps the nation. We are put to the test. There's a clock involved, it's nerve wracking, and you can win a prize. So if you want to play eight seven to seven nine nine on Fox, we do it next right here on Fox Sports Radio. 00:21:00 Speaker 3: Are you facing hiring headaches? Rich Davis headaches? We're like, what would you conside? I would say, Abs, I should do more app a week spot. 00:37:16 Speaker 1: Rich and I were up for I've told this story before, I believe to you guys on Fox Sports. But Rich and I were up for a morning gig in New York City and the program director there found out that, you know, we went from the East coast to the West coast. And he's like, all right, guys, so you live out. You know, I got one question. My first question for you guys, and this is for like a big gig in New York. He goes Chilula or Tapa Tillo. And honestly, I knew, depending on what I said, we're either going to set this conversation in a good tone or a bad tone. And I looked at Rich. Rich was like, Tapa TiO. I'd rather tap a dia and and I said chilula and the guy said wrong, Papatio was the answer. I'm like, how is there a right answer for hot sauce? And honestly, I feel like. 00:38:11 Speaker 3: He didn't like us after that. I didn't even get you didn't give us a chance after that, you brought. 00:38:16 Speaker 2: Us up on multiple ocasions. I haven't thought about that since. Yes, I don't think anything, but I know that set the tone where he was like, these aren't my kind of guys. You didn't like Chilula. We answered his like litmus test the wrong way. They're both good like that, That's how I felt. They're both fine, hot sauces. 00:38:33 Speaker 3: Dude. 00:38:33 Speaker 1: I'm telling you, like he had an answer in mine like he was a tapatillo guy. So the fact that I said Chilula in his mind, you know, he he like disassociated with us, like these guys aren't cool. Next, and I'm like, come on, man, that week, have you encountered any odd like job in an interview test? 00:38:52 Speaker 3: See, we had a test. I'll be honest. We did have a test. 00:38:55 Speaker 2: When we would hire interns and producers and stuff, we would have someone sitting on our show and I would check how engaged they were, because there would be people that had a great resume, but they sat there and they just had like a boring face the whole time. And when you do a talk show in sports or entertainment, you want the people that are part of your team to be in it. I would see how vibe, how engaged, and the vibes they brought while they were in the room. 00:39:20 Speaker 3: Yeah, and don't think that I look, I mean women are the greatest, really, be honest. 00:39:25 Speaker 2: That's why I loved I with Sam. That's why when we when Ramos left and they were like, who do you guys? Who's the candidates to be the guy that runs the board in the show? I was Sam brings an energy that other people didn't. 00:39:38 Speaker 1: You don't think that people throw out trick political and religious questions just to see where people stand in the dating world. 00:39:44 Speaker 3: Absolutely. 00:39:45 Speaker 6: Oh. 00:39:45 Speaker 2: I have a buddy that says he poses as a liberal on dating sites because he's a conservative and he's a cop, and he's like, it's not a fun time. So but they throw those questions out there just to see how you answer and to see if you're a qualified candidate. 00:39:59 Speaker 3: I got one. Have you guys heard the coffee test? Coffee? I'm sorry, you're you're in Jersey coffee? I know the Mario test is at it. 00:40:08 Speaker 2: That's when the girl opens the door. Let's go the coffee cool quickly. I know you got to run a minute. The coffee test is simple. You go to a job interview and someone, whether an assistant or someone, offers you a cup of coffee, and you have your coffee during the job interview. The employer watches what you do with your cup of coffee. If it's a disposable cup. Some companies have, like you know, silverware and stuff in the kitchen. Do you clean up after yourself? Is like a subconscious test. It's called the coffee test. And that's what the Browns are doing. 00:40:40 Speaker 1: They're throwing all these crazy things out there to see where you stand and make it difficult. You know, when you were running out of time. I'm dying to know what the number one college is. As far as STDs, you. 00:40:51 Speaker 3: Guys want to hold the STDs until tomorrow. Oh, Rich holds them all the time. You can hold it, Danny, I mean, what a tease. We'll do that tomorrow. 00:40:59 Speaker 2: So all right, you don't want to just get the number one to colleges to not send your kids to. 00:41:04 Speaker 3: We'll go to that tomorrow, okay. 00:41:06 Speaker 2: But yeah, if you have any other tests, like the coal feed test, let us know at Covine and rich because I do think how you pick up after yourself is important. Honestly, it is like you ever go out to some after dinner with someone they don't clean up after themselves. 00:41:19 Speaker 3: It's a turn off. 00:41:20 Speaker 2: We'll see you guys later, I read it there Chi baby, see you in the promises playing, Have a 00:41:24 Speaker 3: Great night, goodbye later
