you have to make certain choices for the character and
you kind of like at the studio telling you how
to do it, it's just like it's kind of you know, annoying,
you know what I mean. And then yeah, it's just challenging.
It could be challenging, you know what i mean. But
all in all, I'm so happy and appreciative that, you know,
I was able to be part of something so you know, culture,
you know what I'm saying. And then and then it's
like it's a thread you know from the previous dance erarors,
you know, like Beach Street and you know, all of
these other dance movies that are really big dance movies
that really truly bring together people, you know what I mean,
on a on a grand scale. That's what dances. That's why,
that's why we love dance. That's why I love dance.

was groups and girls and it was a vibe you

they start doing a routine, you know what I mean.

I mean? And then you know I had to hit

us really like hone our skills and get you know,

seen it was water in her eyes and she was

and then she just start crying. And then she didn't
say anything, but she then after you know, cause I
could tell it was something you know, deeper than her
just like coming to see her favorite group, you know

me in the DM and she was like, thank you
so much for like seeing me. She was like my
last concert that I got to go with my mom.

So we haven't toured in you know what I'm saying,
twenty plus years, so she has held on to that experience,
you know, and that's through you know, the art, that's
through you know, the songs and the hours of you know,
getting it wrong and curating music and a vibing the
energy that people could have for a lifetime, you know
what I'm saying. So it's deeper than you know. I know,
people play around and they think that music is like,
you know, just this thing like oh for the moment,
you know what I mean, But for real, it's deeper

they were talking with Fizz because you know, Fizz was
you know, rap hip hop at that time most popular,
you know, the rappers was always the most popular in
the group, you know what I mean. So I think
that that kind of brought in that mindset. But then
it was like a bunch of stuff just happening behind
the scenes that was just like for you know, a
teenage Star was just hard to process, you know what
I'm saying. So as a solo artist stepping into now
my then like not even months in between, not even
years in between, to have to think about a concept
or how I want to come, how I want to change,
you know what I mean. It just kind of happened,
you know what I'm saying, which I think hindsight, I
definitely appreciate, you know, being guided, you know what I'm
saying into things that because because sometimes we have things
in life, you know what I'm saying, that we're guided to,
and that we just have to either decide if we
want to take responsibility before or not, you know what
I'm saying. And that was one of those things that
at the time, you know, it felt like very uncomfortable,
but in hindsight, I was so happy because I think,
as a man, you have to create things on your own.
You have to make something for yourself. You have to
know who you are, and that was like me really
maturing and seeing what I wanted to be and who
I wanted to be in the space, you know what
I'm saying. So it was good. It was great action.
It was great action, you know, because I have to like,
you know, as someone that's been in this business for
a long time, take you know, responsibility for being aware
enough that I was being led. I have to honor
that with honoring it and saying like, oh, I wouldn't
be here if I didn't, you know what I'm saying.
Sometimes you don't be ready for certain things, but guess what,
you get pushed anyway, you got to went, you know
what I mean. And when you are, you know, in
a position like that, you swim different, you know what
I'm saying. So I'm like.

in a way too, you know what i mean. But
it's like look at us now, you know what I'm saying,
I get the opportunity unlike any act that has been
you know, in a group before or solo act that's
been in the group four because you know, real special
people get the experience of breaking out of their group,

and empowering yourself, like the process of that and even
supposed to be you know what I'm saying, like pulling
up on CD. You know what I'm saying, our relationship
at that time, you know, like really making music.

And it's funny on this tour. I found something that
I lost, you know what I'm saying, because of the
way it happened. And that was my backfoot because and beat.
You k like, I don't know if any other people,
you know, artists, you know, backflipping at the time. I
think I think we knew usher could you know what
I'm saying, But like nobody was backflipping in it in
Sony building offices like I was doing that. I was
backflipping off the table in this little small you know
what I'm saying. So that was like my shit, but
it went away when I started doing Oh in touch,
I stopped flipping, you know what I'm saying. I stopped
giving my energe. So on this tour, oh, I was
backflipping ever since the La Show. So now I'm like,
wait a minute, hold up, I'm back in that energy.
I'm back in that mode, you know what I'm saying.
So, yeah, the gag Drake Aubums drop, I gotta ask, Yeah,
probably one of my favorite interviews of all time.
Man Brizon Lou, How did that happen? Brother? How did
that happen?
Yeah? So you know I was signed to Young Money
for a brief moment. You know what I mean, And yeah,
shout out to Wayne. You know, we was trying to
work it out. The business didn't work out, but he
always used to come here and stay at the Beverly Wilshire,
you know what I mean. And I think he was
on tour or something, you know what I mean. Lobby crazy,
everybody down there, we hanging out, Tiger down there, Nikki Dilla.
The first time I meet Drake is on tour, you
know what I mean. And Wayne introduces him like Yo,

He got all the hits. I'm like, okay, cool, you
know what I'm saying. So that was the first time
we met. And then that other time, you know, when
I went to link up with him at the Beverly Wilsher,
Forty was downstairs, and Forty was like, yo, oh we
about to drop this, you know, mixtape so far gone, man,
you should come get on it, layder on it this person.
I'm like, cool, I'll come upstairs. So he already had
the breeze and the little beat, you know what I'm saying.
And I was like okay, So I put down like
a couple of like two or three melodies I wrote.
Then we went downstairs, played around a little bit, went
back up. Then he was like, these are the melodies
that I think, you know is the best. And I
was like, oh damn. And that's when I knew the
value of forty right there, you know what I'm saying.
I was like, oh, cause, because sometimes you know, when
you're creating this shit, you like, I don't you know
what I mean? Like, I'm the type of person because
this is how I learned to, you know, as far
as like recording vocals, because there's an era you know,
like back in the Motown days, they would sit and
learn those songs and create those songs so they could
sing them in a way that felt familiar, you know
what I mean. Like sometimes I'm getting a demo fresh
this cat. He's singing in a higher key to me,
I gotta you know, it's a banger, so I want
to record the record. But you know what I'm saying.
So it was a process. Oh damn, I forgot my point.

the reference Brizon and then I wrote it, and then
Drake came up Fairs and then.

and uh, I don't know how I ended up whatever
at this club and then I seen Rose and he
came over and he was just like, yo, what's up, Like, man,
we need to do something, you know what I'm saying.
I was like, you know, he really interested, he really
interested in doing it. And it's like, okay, cool, He's
like yeah, as soon as I get back, boom boom.
And he kept his word. He kept his word, you know.
I mean I went down to Florida and he was
recording and then we just started going off, you know
what I mean. And then he was like, yo, like
maybe oh, let's go. And I feel like, in hindsight,
I feel like I feel like in hindsight, you know
what I'm saying, I had to make back at the time.
That's why I named myself Makeback. I had to make that.
At the times, I was like yeah, life.
Yeah, But at the time, it was just like, Wow,
this is this is a new era. This is a
you know, different version than me, you know what I
mean that I wanted to kind of transform into And
that's really what it was, you know what I mean.
I was able to you know, put my post, to
get my post to be record out like it was.
It was some business there. You know. I was like
really coming of age in my business, and I felt
like Rose understood my language, you know what I mean,
even though you know, the business taught me from the past.
It's good to have an executive in the building. I'm
saying because he.
Had an album, so Curvey that first my albums is
he that was my ship?
Yeah.
I feel like I also.
Brought validity to his business and that's why it made
sense for him, you know, what I'm saying. It was
like it wasn't no other well known artists, you know,
like Meek was was bubbling. You know what I'm saying.
Everybody was getting the start exactly. You know what I'm saying. Yeah,
So he made me feel you know, like yeah, you
know what I'm saying. So that's that's why I was
intriguing to me too. It didn't feel like you know,
I was on his label and ship felt like more
like partnership. And I'm like, I'm gonna help you build, you.

you was the one wanting the breakout.
Everybody was on their way. He was already established, you
know what I'm saying. And I did songs with everybody.
You know what I'm saying. That was on purpose, Okay,

That's what's a song that was fared as you passed
on end up being like, damn, I wish I would
have kept it.

like back in the day, like Dream was writing a lot,

I try to stay out of the pot of what
that is. I think it's way more intentional when you know,
I'm working with these new guys and I'm like, let's
let's let's you know, let's put out the tough word.

now that's kind of my approach. But earlier on and
sometimes you know, you come across the song like I
come across songs all the time, and I'm not necessarily
listening to just copy the song and the vibe and
the energy because that that be indicative to the artists.
Like the person singing behind it.
I believe that, you know what I'm saying. So it's like,
hold up, I gotta put my swag on this, you
know what I mean, Like, Oh, I'm and I say this,
I might approach it like this, like it's certain things.
You know, some songwriters they're saying I'd be like, I

It's just different with rap though in R and B. Yeah,
I feel like even if you did, it wouldn't be
as criticized as much as like, yeah, somebody actually rapping
for you and writing for you.

of hip hop is writing.

what I'm saying, Like the essence of hip hop. You
gotta be able to like put words together for real
and not it not just be somebody else's you know

myself accountable for what I'm putting forth when it comes

company that acts like they understand what that messaging and
that that direction is. You know. Really the point of
a lot of these major corporations is to support you.

you know, and your strategy, and I think you know
