Seems every year they're out there looking for that right handed bat. Well, they got it in the wintertime this year, and last trade deadline that got their closer. So we won't be doing the Phillies looking for a closer either in July. So they're buttoning up some business early going into this season.

Speaker 6: No, that's the reason why he's a free agent. I think that he has some ability. I think they've talked to some of their scouts and some of the people involved with the Phillies, and they do think he's a great bounce back candidate, very good defender in right field that takes probably a little bit of pressure off what we think will be the center fielder in Justin Crawford, And if you have Marshan left, that's a pretty damn good outfield.

Speaker 6: I mean, even if you get an average outfield play out of a guy like Crawford, which you likely will get just because of his speed, you know you're looking at a pretty darn good outfield and the right handed power is important. There's no question about it, not getting it from Castianos that you thought you were going to get. Over the course of his career, it's pretty clear that Castillanos days are pretty numbered. And you know, listen, I like the the idea, I mean, we like the idea of bringing Kepler in for the similar reasons, but I think this guy's got more upside and more recent I think, more recent actual production. This guy's a beast man. I mean, you put him in a uniform, he looks like Gabe East and at least, at the very least, it'll be scary behind somewhere in the lineup behind and Harper and Schwerber.

Batting average not there, on base percentage not there. But power. He can hit some doubles, he can get hot, and you know there's a bounce back element to this.

Adults Garcia last year plus one OAA outs above average and right field that ranked twelve out of thirty six qualified right fielders in twenty twenty five. In comparison, Nick Castianos i for last negative twelve outs above average.

And I tweeted, Dominic Brown shows off his big hose early in camp or something, and and the twitter verse went crazy, and that's where, you know, people started begging for, you know, to give me a hose report. So that's where the hose report started. But a Dallas Garcia can fire, he.

Speaker 4: Can so his his arm strength average arm Strength Elite throws ninety one point nine miles an hour that ranked thirtyeth out of one hundred ninety six qualified outfits, so like literally one of the best throwers, hardest best arms of any outfield in baseball. Conversely, again, Castiani's arm strength tie for one hundred and eighty fifth, so you go from one from one of the weakest arms, worst defenders to one of the strongest arms, stronger defenders in right field.

Speaker 4: His offensive numbers have definitely been in decline the last two years. He's a big swing and miss guy. So if you're looking for eye contact, you know, don't chase a lot. You know, maybe close your eyes sometimes when Garcia is in a little bit of a slump. But I'll be curious to see maybe, you know, Kevin Long, maybe he can maybe he can find something in his swing that can get him to hit the ball, make a little make some better decisions to plate, maybe have him swinging miss a little bit less. You're looking at some of these advanced metrics hits. When he makes contact, he hits the ball really hard. Average xpilo last year ninety two point one miles. Now, that's in the eighty ninth percentile of all hitters in Major League Baseball. Barrel rate eleven point six percent, seventy third percentile, hard hit rate forty six point seven percent, seventy percentile. So again that those numbers just tell you when he puts the bat on the ball, he can do damage with it just needs to put the bat on the ball.

Speaker 6: So I make a great point with k Long, and I think you know, the front office, Dave Dombrowski, a lot of those guys really believe in Kevin Long as a guy that can help make have guys make subtle adjustments. You saw it with Kyle Schwarber, You saw it with some other guys. You saw him in mid season make a little tweak with Bryce and Stott to make him better. You saw the adjustment that you know a guy like uh Brandon Marsh made. I mean in in April, he was terrible, and literally he's hit zero, goes down, comes back, sort of regroups and and stays on the planet, has a very good offensive year. So I think that means that means a lot, the fact that they have Kevin Long there and then hopefully he can put his hands on him and his eyes on him and and have some impact.

They're always talking about him where I mean, I like this because it only cost you ten ten million bucks and didn't cost you players that Lewis Robert would have cost you. Because I think the Chicago White Sex still looking for something.

You know, we've been talking from about how Nick won't come back last week at the winter meetings, trying to check around and if anybody is interested in Nick Castis, I couldn't find anybody. I you know, I've heard people say I'm not interested at any price in Nick Castianos, mentioning the defense is.

And uh, you know, it can be a little disheartening for a player to have that feeling that you can't you know that you're not all that interesting to a particular team, even some of the teams, like you know, you see the Royals going hard on outfielders. You know that Miami Marlins need outfield. There's a lot of teams you need outfield play and outfield production.

You have Auto Camp that they Phillies have been talking a lot about this offseason. Is playing a role on this team. That he can hit, and he can hit the ball hard and you can hit for some he seems like he's gonna be involved. He also have Weston Wilson on the on the forty man roster, you have Johann Rojas, and the forty man roster. You can throw Kyle Schber out there for three or four games next season in left field if you need to. You know, who else do they have on the forty men roster? Pedro Leone has hesn't you know is a guy they have on the forty men roster as well.
