<v Speaker 1>He'll be better, go'll be beer. It's the Internet. You're busy. <v Speaker 2>Let's do this for October twenty third, twenty twenty four. <v Speaker 2>For the next hour or so, let me help you <v Speaker 2>sort through the world of gaming on Game Mess Mornings <v Speaker 2>Live with Me Jeff Grubb. Today, Nintendo's games continue to <v Speaker 2>leak and Astrobot has dominated both My Life and September <v Speaker 2>video game sales. But first please join me and welcoming <v Speaker 2>today's co host a Game Mess Mornings. It's Lucy James <v Speaker 2>Games everybody, Lucy, how are you doing? <v Speaker 1>How are you feeling? <v Speaker 3>Hello? I'm doing all right? Thank you? Well, no, I'm <v Speaker 3>like concerned. Let my hairs do a weird thing, but I. <v Speaker 4>Am not getting it cut until just before GP at <v Speaker 4>night inwards. <v Speaker 3>So this is just something that we're gonna have to <v Speaker 3>deal with. <v Speaker 1>Yep, saying that something. <v Speaker 2>I'm like, I want to get a haircut, but I <v Speaker 2>know if I get it now, I won't get. <v Speaker 1>It closer to the whole thing. And so yeah, get <v Speaker 1>await a couple more weeks. We'll survive together. It'll be <v Speaker 1>just say that. <v Speaker 4>Don't say a couple of weeks because we have so <v Speaker 4>much planning to do. <v Speaker 3>Say like six weeks. Five weeks? <v Speaker 1>How long is it? It's like five? Really, we have <v Speaker 1>like five weeks. There's definitely some things in there like <v Speaker 1>that are gonna de real things, So like Thanksgiving, Yeah, Thanksgiving, <v Speaker 1>I got a I got a Disney for a whole week. <v Speaker 2>I'm gonna be gone for a whole week the week <v Speaker 2>before Thanksgiving. So yeah, we'll get some stuff done. <v Speaker 3>Well, we've got this. It's fine, we'll do. <v Speaker 1>We got this. It'll be fine. All right, let's see. <v Speaker 1>Yeah a couple weeks. Yeah, no, Lucy, you got Blake <v Speaker 1>Club again today? How do you feel about that? You know, I. <v Speaker 3>Actually had a really lovely time just with you guys. <v Speaker 1>It's nice. <v Speaker 4>I it is nice. I have forgotten, like I don't <v Speaker 4>know just how bad that game feels. <v Speaker 1>Uh huh. <v Speaker 3>I was thinking about I think I had a little <v Speaker 3>dream about it last night. <v Speaker 4>I fell asleep on the couch at nine point thirty, <v Speaker 4>so a lot of time for dreaming, and I think <v Speaker 4>there was just this this moment where I just found <v Speaker 4>a baby skull and it just came back to me again. <v Speaker 1>You did find skull, never. <v Speaker 3>Used, never used, never worn, never worn. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, I'm just I just can't wait to see what <v Speaker 4>other baby bones we'll find today. <v Speaker 2>Maybe we'll be able to put together our own baby. <v Speaker 2>That's that's the idea here, Giant Bomb's own baby. <v Speaker 3>Maybe by the end we'll have a skeleton. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, that that'd be real time. <v Speaker 4>Put it in the chat yekeletons in chat you got <v Speaker 4>if you if you have no idea what we're talking about, <v Speaker 4>you should watch White Club. <v Speaker 2>Lucy is playing Skull Island Rise of Kong, and it's <v Speaker 2>not good. <v Speaker 1>It's not a good video game. It's rough stuff. <v Speaker 2>But and also it's like very confusing, like how to <v Speaker 2>like place yourself on the timeline of the game, because <v Speaker 2>I think, I think the way it works is there's <v Speaker 2>like five different unlocked skill trees, and I think if <v Speaker 2>you yes, once you pick one, I think you're locked <v Speaker 2>into that one for your entire playthrough, because otherwise this <v Speaker 2>game seems like it should be like fifty hours long, <v Speaker 2>and by all accounts it's not. <v Speaker 1>It's like four to six. <v Speaker 3>So okay, yeah. Yeah. <v Speaker 4>Also my favorite part was when the camera just locked <v Speaker 4>in a like top down and then I couldn't control. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, it also does its own thing. <v Speaker 3>It's just it's going its own way. <v Speaker 1>It's going its own way, all right. <v Speaker 3>Going its own way. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, his own way. I'm excited about that. It'll be <v Speaker 1>a good time. <v Speaker 2>I'm gonna be playing some spooky games after this show today, <v Speaker 2>and then I'm glad that I didn't get sick. All <v Speaker 2>the kids got have been getting sick, and but one <v Speaker 2>bounce back real fast. The other one's in the process <v Speaker 2>of bouncing back. So I think we're gonna get through this, <v Speaker 2>and it's it's gonna get it out out of the <v Speaker 2>way now and then hopefully okay for Disney and Thanksgiving <v Speaker 2>and all that stuff. <v Speaker 1>That's what I'm looking now. <v Speaker 4>I got super sick in London and I've forgotten what <v Speaker 4>that's like. <v Speaker 3>And it was not fun. <v Speaker 1>Yep, that's rough, very miserable. All right. <v Speaker 2>Let's explain what we do here most weekdays, I Jeff Grub, <v Speaker 2>will help piece your gaming life back together. That includes <v Speaker 2>breaking news and maybe even some of our own original reporting. <v Speaker 2>For all these topics, I'll get the input of a <v Speaker 2>bona fide expert who will make me look smart. If <v Speaker 2>you are watching live on Twitch welcome. You can always <v Speaker 2>listen to the show later on podcast feeds by searching <v Speaker 2>for game Mes Mornings, or find the RSS on GiantBomb <v Speaker 2>dot com. You could also catch the show later with <v Speaker 2>chapters and timestamps on YouTube. <v Speaker 1>Hello YouTube. <v Speaker 2>All right, we have a lot to get into, so <v Speaker 2>let's start the morning mess with September twenty twenty four <v Speaker 2>US video game market results from Circana. <v Speaker 1>This is from Matt Piscatella, who works at Circana. <v Speaker 2>Wrote he writes on Blue Ski. September twenty twenty four <v Speaker 2>US video game market highlights from Circana projected US total <v Speaker 2>spending on video game hardware, content, and accessories fell by <v Speaker 2>six percent during September twenty twenty four when compared to <v Speaker 2>a year ago. The decline was driven by a forty <v Speaker 2>four percent drop in hardware spending and a three percent <v Speaker 2>dip in content spending. He's got all the numbers there <v Speaker 2>for everybody, but yeah, down six percent video game sales. <v Speaker 2>You know, that's the total three percent for people buying <v Speaker 2>video games. <v Speaker 1>It's there's been up and down all year. That's kind <v Speaker 1>of in line with. <v Speaker 2>Like what this year has been doing, although it's been <v Speaker 2>maybe a little bit more resilient than people are expecting. <v Speaker 2>He does have like the year to date total and <v Speaker 2>it's flat, like video game sales in total are flat, <v Speaker 2>while a hardware sales still down thirty percent compared to <v Speaker 2>all of last or the year to date last year. <v Speaker 2>He writes, twenty twenty four year to date spending, as <v Speaker 2>I was just saying, was flat with compared to the <v Speaker 2>same period in twenty twenty three. Mobile content spending for <v Speaker 2>the year to date period ending September was one point <v Speaker 2>seven billion dollars higher than a year ago, while console <v Speaker 2>content spending has fallen by point zero or zero point <v Speaker 2>eight billion, so eight hundred million dollars. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, councils just could continue to be in a weird spot. <v Speaker 2>We'll talk about like how hardware is doing and all that, <v Speaker 2>but just on its face, it seems like people aren't <v Speaker 2>buying a lot of consoles right now. <v Speaker 1>I continue to chalk that up. Lucy two. People sort <v Speaker 1>of ran. <v Speaker 2>Out and got consoles during the pandemic faster than they <v Speaker 2>may have otherwise, and they're so we're kind of like <v Speaker 2>still in the you know, the elastic banding process of it. <v Speaker 1>Everyone like contracted to go. <v Speaker 2>Buy that, and now a lot of that money has <v Speaker 2>already been spent, so people aren't continuing to rush out <v Speaker 2>to buy new consoles. And maybe PS five pro will <v Speaker 2>actually make a difference here. <v Speaker 4>Maybe, I mean, I don't know, at that price point, <v Speaker 4>that's going to be a very selected group of consumers <v Speaker 4>who will. <v Speaker 1>Go for it. <v Speaker 3>I feel, yeah, I think you're probably right. <v Speaker 4>Lockdown how to sol INDs what better thing to do <v Speaker 4>than just play video games? <v Speaker 3>And I don't know, watch Tiger King. <v Speaker 4>I'm trying to think back to my early Lockdown experience <v Speaker 4>I played yacaz a zero. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I think it's just also surprised that it's down. <v Speaker 4>It's not really surprising that's down this much like there's <v Speaker 4>also been such a strange year for game releases, big <v Speaker 4>things like it's Assins, Creed getting pushed. I mean, obviously <v Speaker 4>there's Cord coming out this week. Maybe that'll turn the ties, <v Speaker 4>especially because they're bundling it in on game path. But <v Speaker 4>then at the same time, if everyone already has a console, <v Speaker 4>who wants a console? <v Speaker 3>Maybe not? <v Speaker 1>Yep. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's tough to sort of change the sentiment of <v Speaker 2>people who are like I've decided I either have the <v Speaker 2>thing I want and I'm happy I'm going to continue <v Speaker 2>playing the game. So I've been playing, which is you know, <v Speaker 2>defferentely part of this story is a lot of people <v Speaker 2>bought their consoles and they're using to play Fortnite and <v Speaker 2>Call of Duty war Zone, things they already have access to, <v Speaker 2>and it's like, okay, well that behavior is tough to reroute. Meanwhile, <v Speaker 2>you know, more people as they come into gaming, seems <v Speaker 2>like it's it's just it's still the phone. <v Speaker 1>It's still mobile gaming. <v Speaker 2>That's not necessarily an exciting space in terms of big <v Speaker 2>new mobile releases. <v Speaker 1>Are making the difference. It's just those same games of <v Speaker 1>you know, Brawl Stars. <v Speaker 2>In this report, brawl Stars apparently was up sixty four <v Speaker 2>percent year over year or month over month something like that. <v Speaker 3>I think, am I out of touch? No, it's the kids. <v Speaker 1>It's definitely the kids who are wrong. <v Speaker 3>What is that? I think it's from Clash of Clans <v Speaker 3>in Class Royal. <v Speaker 1>Yes, and they put SpongeBob in it. They put SpongeBob <v Speaker 1>in Bral Stars and that's why they was up sixty. <v Speaker 3>Four little to it will be at anything, Yes. <v Speaker 2>He will, he is, Yes, definitely. Permission in Wicked, yeah really. <v Speaker 4>Well and then like the guy you played him on <v Speaker 4>stage two, Kenny No, no, no, are the guy Ethan something later, <v Speaker 4>Ethan Slater. He was SpongeBob in the musical. Oh and <v Speaker 4>then Ariana Grande got with him. <v Speaker 1>I don't think it's absurd. <v Speaker 2>And to think Tom Kenny could be in Wicked Okay, <v Speaker 2>Oh no, I mean. <v Speaker 4>Tom kennyet one hundred percent being Wicked. I think I <v Speaker 4>think he should be Wicked because that movie looks like. <v Speaker 1>A sorry, yeah, it looks a bit I don't know, <v Speaker 1>washed out. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, and don't understand that the color grading and the <v Speaker 4>lighting looks very weird. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, and it's they continue to do the thing which <v Speaker 2>I actually I love this. They continue to hide the <v Speaker 2>fact that it's a musical in all the trailers, and <v Speaker 2>it's like it's Wicked. <v Speaker 3>What do people exc to the fact that it's part <v Speaker 3>one of two? <v Speaker 1>Is it really? I didn't know that? Yeah, they got me, <v Speaker 1>they got my asses. That's crazy. What why are they <v Speaker 1>getting that? Okay? <v Speaker 2>And they have to hide those things because people hate <v Speaker 2>both those things apparently, or at least they won't go <v Speaker 2>see like a part one and they won't go see <v Speaker 2>a musical they know it's a musical. <v Speaker 4>Yeah yeah, Jan is all Cap saying all the good <v Speaker 4>songs are an act one Act two sucks, which I've <v Speaker 4>heard from all of my musical theater friends too. <v Speaker 1>So no, there you go, and you don't even need <v Speaker 1>a part two. <v Speaker 2>For the month of September, we have the charted sales here. <v Speaker 2>EA Sports Football Club twenty five was number one. This <v Speaker 2>is in the United States. Most of this will include <v Speaker 2>physical and digital. It'll be noted where it doesn't. Astrobot <v Speaker 2>was number two, you know, exclusive to PS five. Number <v Speaker 2>two though, right behind EA Sports FC, ahead of Madden <v Speaker 2>which is in its second month, I believe, of sales. <v Speaker 2>And it's also head of the Legend of Zelda Echos <v Speaker 2>of Wisdom, which does only include physical sales. <v Speaker 1>So that's probably right up there near Astrobot. <v Speaker 2>But I think it's a really good showing from Astrobot <v Speaker 2>that yeah, like kind of couldn't expect much more than that. <v Speaker 2>I mean, I was hoping, like for the world, but <v Speaker 2>you know, when I was being reasonable, this is right <v Speaker 2>where I was like, Hey, this is the high end <v Speaker 2>of what it could do, right up there around EA <v Speaker 2>Sports Football Club. Yeah, number two for the month after <v Speaker 2>the biggest games in the world. Sure, I'll take that, <v Speaker 2>and I by all accounts, it's like there was a <v Speaker 2>range of expectation for this game and it is at <v Speaker 2>the high end of that range, so fantastic, and I <v Speaker 2>think it's probably going to continue to do well. Right <v Speaker 2>as word of mouth continues. It's going to be in <v Speaker 2>the Game of the Year discussion and that could give <v Speaker 2>it some more legs, right. <v Speaker 3>I really hope. <v Speaker 4>So I have a weird question, but I'm considered in <v Speaker 4>the framing of astrobot. Are your wrists doing with all <v Speaker 4>the speed running? <v Speaker 1>So the wrist of my wrists are doing all right? <v Speaker 2>There was a blister forming on my thumb, kind of <v Speaker 2>laid off a little bit to help that out. There <v Speaker 2>was definitely some knuckle pain, probably some i'll just say <v Speaker 2>it arthritis. I think that was happening a little bit. <v Speaker 2>I dealt with that. <v Speaker 1>I did some. <v Speaker 2>Stretching and some strength exercises when I was about to <v Speaker 2>go to sleep the other night, kind of just really <v Speaker 2>like you know what the trick is for that is <v Speaker 2>you lay on your bed and you imagine, instead of <v Speaker 2>you are laying on your bed, that the bed is <v Speaker 2>pushing up against you. And then you let that sort <v Speaker 2>of work your way through your body until it's like <v Speaker 2>your hands are pushing against one another. It's a whole thing, <v Speaker 2>but it worked really well, and now I'm feeling pretty good. <v Speaker 2>Now I'm not feeling great that I'm behind Jesse Fattelli <v Speaker 2>in terms of my time, and. <v Speaker 3>I was gonna ask who's who's in the lead. <v Speaker 2>Jesse just beat me yesterday. I was ahead of everybody <v Speaker 2>until that point. We are not far off from like <v Speaker 2>being among the top ten, Like we're like right behind <v Speaker 2>that crew in the world. <v Speaker 1>And it's uh. <v Speaker 2>I my kids got sick, so I couldn't I didn't <v Speaker 2>have time to play last night or this morning. And <v Speaker 2>I'm getting worried because the new the new level comes <v Speaker 2>out tomorrow, and once that happens, it's gonna be hard <v Speaker 2>to justify going back to this level. <v Speaker 1>So I got about a day. <v Speaker 2>To to put to put some time into this last <v Speaker 2>or this level before it might be lost forever or <v Speaker 2>at least until all the levels are out, which is <v Speaker 2>a month away. And then, like we were talking about, <v Speaker 2>we're gonna be busy. I'm gonna be traveling, We're going <v Speaker 2>to we're going to dance for Extra Life and stuff <v Speaker 2>like that. So there'll be a weekend coming up pretty <v Speaker 2>soon where I won't be able to do any of <v Speaker 2>that time, but still been fun. It's been and I do. <v Speaker 2>It does feel like Astrobot it's getting quite a bit <v Speaker 2>of a shine from this moment right now where it <v Speaker 2>is becoming a speeder on Darling and I yeah, so <v Speaker 2>I think it's it's hitting this moment really well. I <v Speaker 2>think it'll be there's a good chance it's going to <v Speaker 2>be nominated for the Kiwis And we saw games like <v Speaker 2>It Takes Two like really take advantage of that, right <v Speaker 2>that one game of the year. <v Speaker 1>Obviously that made a huge difference. <v Speaker 2>That games sold like something like twenty million copies or something. <v Speaker 2>It's crazy, So I'm hoping Astrobot can have a similar story, <v Speaker 2>although you know, not multi platform, so I don't know <v Speaker 2>if it's ever going to be able to sell twenty <v Speaker 2>million copies. As far as Echoes of Wisdom, I think <v Speaker 2>that's that's pretty good. <v Speaker 1>Did it come out late in the month. <v Speaker 2>I feel like it came out pretty late in the month, <v Speaker 2>But that's a pretty good showing still for a two DSLD. <v Speaker 2>I think it was sold faster than Links Awakening, which <v Speaker 2>that that game went on to sell like five six <v Speaker 2>seven million copies somewhere in that range. So that's that's <v Speaker 2>pretty good as well. <v Speaker 1>Other new games on the chart. <v Speaker 2>NBA two K twenty five this is Physical Only is <v Speaker 2>at number seven. I suppose you know Legends Old Echoes <v Speaker 2>of Wisdom Exclusive doing better than you know, Physical Only <v Speaker 2>doing better than NBA two K twenty five Physical Only <v Speaker 2>that I guess that does show that Lozelda did pretty well. <v Speaker 2>Then NHL twenty five was at number nine. A lot <v Speaker 2>of familiar faces between that and Marvel Versus Capcom Fighting <v Speaker 2>Collection Kae excuse me, Arcae Classics at number sixteen, and <v Speaker 2>then number eighteen, Physical Only, Space Marine two, Warhammer forty <v Speaker 2>K that's at number eighteen. So yeah, a lot of <v Speaker 2>new games on the chart. And despite all these new games, though, <v Speaker 2>nothing could really overcome last year. Last September still down <v Speaker 2>three percent year the year over year, And yeah, it's <v Speaker 2>gonna be a tough comparison last year. I think people <v Speaker 2>were just going crazy on Balder Skate three and so <v Speaker 2>many other games. Yeah, there was just a time like <v Speaker 2>Tiers of the Kingdom sold twenty million copies in a <v Speaker 2>couple of months or something like that. So it's just <v Speaker 2>was always going to be a tough comparison to last year. <v Speaker 2>They do Matt does have the best selling games of <v Speaker 2>the year to date. So far, the only new game <v Speaker 2>to break onto that chart was EA Sports FC twenty <v Speaker 2>five that went to number ten immediately in its first month. <v Speaker 2>Number one still EA Sports College Football twenty five probably <v Speaker 2>going to be number one even after Call of Duty. <v Speaker 2>There's a real strong chance of that. That game just <v Speaker 2>continues to crush Helldivers two at number two and last <v Speaker 2>year's Modern Warfare three at number three. And again that's <v Speaker 2>only sales for this year. <v Speaker 3>Suo Side Squad being at sixteen is pretty wild. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, right, that was just still in the top twenty. <v Speaker 2>I mean, they clearly spent enough money on it that <v Speaker 2>they wanted to be much higher. They were expecting that <v Speaker 2>game to be in the top five. But it's not <v Speaker 2>something that like no one bought, right, Yeah, apparently Astrobot <v Speaker 2>also was a it's not on this top twenty. <v Speaker 1>It's number twenty five for the year. According to Matt, <v Speaker 1>he mentioned that somewhere. <v Speaker 2>Yay, alright, September video game hardware spending fell forty four percent. <v Speaker 2>This continues from Matt Piscatella when compared to a year <v Speaker 2>ago to that's two hundred and fifty one million dollars, <v Speaker 2>the lowest monthly hardware spend total for a September month <v Speaker 2>since twenty nineteen, when it was two hundred and forty <v Speaker 2>two million dollars. Xbox hardware Xbox series hardware spending dropped <v Speaker 2>fifty four percent year over year, uh PS five was <v Speaker 2>down forty five percent year over year, and Switch was <v Speaker 2>down twenty three percent year over year. <v Speaker 1>They all had sharp declines. <v Speaker 2>Year to date, hardware spending is now thirty percent lower <v Speaker 2>than a year ago at two point five billion dollars. <v Speaker 2>So it's not like, you know, one of these consoles <v Speaker 2>is dragging down the rest. Everybody's down. And while you know, <v Speaker 2>PlayStation five was the best selling console, Xbox was number two, <v Speaker 2>and Switch was number three. Uh Switch was showing the <v Speaker 2>least amount of decline obviously because it probably was already <v Speaker 2>on the decline yet last year. Yeah, I mean again, <v Speaker 2>going back to hardware, it's I think it's going to <v Speaker 2>be harder and harder for Microsoft PlayStation and even Nintendo <v Speaker 2>to a certain extent coming off of the Switch to <v Speaker 2>convince consumers that's spending hundreds of dollars on dedicated game hardware. <v Speaker 2>It's worth it. In a world where phones are so <v Speaker 2>powerful and also expensive and where people have done that. <v Speaker 2>They did that, right, They're like, oh, I got a console, <v Speaker 2>and that I got the switch, I got the PlayStation five, <v Speaker 2>convincing them to be like to upgrade, to do this <v Speaker 2>dance again, and then to say and guess what you're <v Speaker 2>gonna play on there? <v Speaker 1>Fortnite. <v Speaker 2>It's just gonna be tough for them to make that <v Speaker 2>argument going forward, right, Yeah. <v Speaker 4>I mean that's the thing where there's you've got a <v Speaker 4>console in your pocket basically, and they are doing so <v Speaker 4>much to help break that barrier to entry to make <v Speaker 4>it seem like it's a like you can open up <v Speaker 4>the app store. The thing is, I don't understand. Maybe <v Speaker 4>it's word of mouth. I open up the app store, <v Speaker 4>and I just see a pit of despair. Like even <v Speaker 4>Apple Arcade, which was supposed to be Apple's solution to <v Speaker 4>all of the crap that gets put on the app Store, <v Speaker 4>like all those Match three games. Opening up Apple Arcade <v Speaker 4>recently is just Match three game bullshit yep. And I'm like, <v Speaker 4>I don't want to go through that. <v Speaker 3>You do not want to look at any of that, <v Speaker 3>Like it's just not compelling to me. <v Speaker 4>However, I guess kids on the playground who and Hellokity Island. <v Speaker 4>You're right, John, I'm sorry Hellokity Island and Patent and Bilatero. <v Speaker 1>Yes, like there are there are bright spots right and <v Speaker 1>it's but it's right spots. <v Speaker 4>But I don't understand you know, everything everything else, Like <v Speaker 4>they have ads at the top of everything. So it's <v Speaker 4>just like I don't know a lot. It's kind of <v Speaker 4>the same issue having with a lot of the console <v Speaker 4>games that are just like sticking around where it's like <v Speaker 4>the big hitters stay big because they spend and then <v Speaker 4>they get pushed to the top of the app store, <v Speaker 4>they get pushed into everyone's recommendations, and it's not really <v Speaker 4>a fun ecosystem for discovery anymore. <v Speaker 1>Yes, it definitely isn't. <v Speaker 2>It's which is why, like you know, uh, I hope <v Speaker 2>that console and PC game can continue to thrive and <v Speaker 2>grow and bring in new people. <v Speaker 1>And it definitely is to a certain extense, just it's <v Speaker 1>in it. <v Speaker 2>It does seem like it's in a law period or <v Speaker 2>it seems like it's at like a somewhat of a <v Speaker 2>valley in terms of growth for the future. And that <v Speaker 2>leads to situations where these big companies that make big <v Speaker 2>games or could make exciting bets and take chances are <v Speaker 2>becoming more conservative, risk averse and scared of producing games. <v Speaker 2>And it's like it comes back to reports like this <v Speaker 2>where they see, okay, yeah, game, the games are selling. <v Speaker 2>That's you know, billions of dollars spend on games per <v Speaker 2>month in the United States. Sure, but where is it trending. Well, <v Speaker 2>it's trending down and okay, well maybe it's going to <v Speaker 2>bounce back up. Well, well, people aren't buying hardware. People are <v Speaker 2>buying less hardware this year than they were last year. <v Speaker 2>So that means, you know, kind of you think about it, <v Speaker 2>there will be it's shrinking in terms of the potential <v Speaker 2>for a future audience. It's not like there's going to <v Speaker 2>be a ton of new people there to buy your <v Speaker 2>games the next time. You If you spend two hundred <v Speaker 2>million dollars now to build a game that comes out <v Speaker 2>in five years, it feels like the line is going down, <v Speaker 2>so the time that by the time that's ready, you <v Speaker 2>might be selling to the same cynical gamers that have <v Speaker 2>been screaming about games all year. And is that worth it? <v Speaker 2>And I think a lot of these companies right now <v Speaker 2>are thinking no. So And of course we have a <v Speaker 2>factors where these things could change switch to comes out <v Speaker 2>next year, Grand Theft Autos six could reinvigorate all kinds <v Speaker 2>of sales across the board because people just get excited. <v Speaker 1>About gaming again. Who knows, but in this moment. <v Speaker 2>These companies are are looking at these trends and continue <v Speaker 2>to be scared about the traditional style of gaming of <v Speaker 2>console and PC. <v Speaker 1>I don't know if they they're not. <v Speaker 2>They also don't think they're going to turn to mobile <v Speaker 2>and be able to crack that market that's already locked <v Speaker 2>down by those same companies we keep talking about. But yeah, <v Speaker 2>this this explains a lot of what's happening in terms <v Speaker 2>of the decisions being made at these companies. <v Speaker 3>Right, yeah, it's it's wild. I mean, I don't know <v Speaker 3>every everything is such a healthscape at the moment. Line must, <v Speaker 3>line must go up. <v Speaker 4>Jeff, I want to take us out of this side <v Speaker 4>conversation because OG two octo. <v Speaker 1>Octo Yeah, I think that's sacked too, but I don't know. <v Speaker 4>Just put this in chat and uh, you know class obscure, <v Speaker 4>terrible first half of the name. But Expedition thirty three, Yeah, <v Speaker 4>they've released a new trailer. <v Speaker 3>Oh yeah, I've just dropped it in there and. <v Speaker 4>It's for the French voice cast and it's called the <v Speaker 4>Baguett Trailer. <v Speaker 1>Oh my god. <v Speaker 4>And the unlockable character outfits are fucking incredible. <v Speaker 1>Now does ben Star do the French one? <v Speaker 3>Does he put on a French accent? I don't know French. <v Speaker 2>I'm almost I'm gonna message him. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, are you in French game? This? <v Speaker 3>No, he's in French game. But does he speak French? <v Speaker 1>And oh? Yeah? This game is this game? <v Speaker 2>This game is also just from France, right, Oh my god? <v Speaker 2>These French app Yeah, there we go, everybody. You can <v Speaker 2>Now you can see if you're watching the video version, <v Speaker 2>they're they're wearing the traditional like basically when you see <v Speaker 2>a mime just they're not wearing the mime makeup or <v Speaker 2>is he no, he's just dirty? <v Speaker 1>Never mind. <v Speaker 2>H So that's pretty good. I continue to be excited <v Speaker 2>about this game. You know, I like, I like an <v Speaker 2>RBG here and there. <v Speaker 3>This looks like it. I sort of games. Calm it <v Speaker 3>fucks like it's awesome. <v Speaker 4>Always typing. Actually he stopped typing. He said, I can't. <v Speaker 1>And it's not that he doesn't speak French. She just can't. <v Speaker 1>It hurts too much. <v Speaker 3>He says, well, yeah, because he's a good British boy. Yeah, <v Speaker 3>that's that's right exactly. He said, I can't sorry, just we. <v Speaker 1>Can't perfect no notes, Thank you so much. <v Speaker 3>Ben disappointed. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, he knows that we're always disappointed, you know. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, boy, it does feel like the RPG genre, <v Speaker 2>RPG RPG genre is uh like French little Yes, I'm <v Speaker 2>gonna say it from now on, a lot of games <v Speaker 2>coming out in that genre, and this is a doesn't <v Speaker 2>look like it's gonna slow down next year with this <v Speaker 2>baget trailer coming out. <v Speaker 1>Boy, then this game just looks shit hot. I'm sorry <v Speaker 1>to put it back up for everybody. It just got <v Speaker 1>It's got such a flare to it. <v Speaker 2>These people are very dirty though, Why are they so dirty? <v Speaker 1>Is that dirty mud or blood? Or yes? <v Speaker 3>I mean the bit I saw. <v Speaker 4>They were in like this underwater thing fighting monsters. Ben says, <v Speaker 4>I got an a star at GCSE in French, which <v Speaker 4>is very good. That's the highest grade you can get. <v Speaker 4>And then he said to you, but yeah, give my <v Speaker 4>love to. <v Speaker 1>Grub me love to you as well. <v Speaker 3>Ben start, Yeah, that's not really it's a real grade <v Speaker 3>a star, A B C D you, I think is <v Speaker 3>the worst one you can go g C. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, so he gets just making determined Yep, all right, <v Speaker 2>Claire obscure x Explore D three. <v Speaker 1>I think it's still come out of twenty twenty five? <v Speaker 1>Is that? Have they even said that. <v Speaker 4>It's a spring It says Spring twenty five is at <v Speaker 4>the bottom of the YouTube. <v Speaker 1>Mission, right there, Spring twenty twenty five. <v Speaker 2>Okay, cool, all right, So that's going to be another <v Speaker 2>one of those games that comes out as we are <v Speaker 2>like still playing Monster Hunter in a million other games, <v Speaker 2>but I look forward to that. <v Speaker 1>So there you go, the baget trailer. It's in your face. <v Speaker 2>Let's move on to most of Prince of Persia. The <v Speaker 2>Lost Crown team shifted to other projects. We talked a <v Speaker 2>little bit about this yesterday. We got a few more <v Speaker 2>of the details after the BombCast is from Evan Campbell <v Speaker 2>at GameSpot. It sounds as if Sands in the Hourglass <v Speaker 2>have run out for a sequel to the Prince of <v Speaker 2>Persia The Lost Crown. Ubisoftis has decided to move a <v Speaker 2>majority of the team who worked on the Metro Avigna <v Speaker 2>to other projects at the company. <v Speaker 1>Prince of Persia. <v Speaker 2>The Lost Crown senior producer Abil heck Elgus issued a <v Speaker 2>statement to GameSpot confirming that the games team is no <v Speaker 2>longer together. Most of the team members who worked on <v Speaker 2>Prince of Persia The Lost Crown have shifted to other <v Speaker 2>projects that will benefit from their expertise. They said, we <v Speaker 2>know players have a love for this brand, and you'd <v Speaker 2>be something excited to bring more Prince of Persia experiences <v Speaker 2>in the future, just not these ones. The game, of <v Speaker 2>course did very well and uh in terms of critical reception, <v Speaker 2>and then in terms of a commercial it was not <v Speaker 2>available on Steam at launch, did not come to Steam <v Speaker 2>until August, so you know it was on it launched <v Speaker 2>in January. It was just missing a huge chunk of <v Speaker 2>potential audience for a very long time. It's a fifty dollars, <v Speaker 2>you know, side scrolling game. A lot of people just <v Speaker 2>bristleed that on principle, and they did didn't. It seems <v Speaker 2>like most people didn't give it a chance. And if <v Speaker 2>they were going to give it a chance, a lot <v Speaker 2>of people said, I'll wait till it's on Steam, and <v Speaker 2>then by the time it was on Steam, they had forgotten, <v Speaker 2>moved on, spent their money on other stuff, and really <v Speaker 2>that doesn't doesn't seem like it mattered because I think <v Speaker 2>this decision, according to the reporting, was made weeks after <v Speaker 2>the game was released, so long, long, long before it <v Speaker 2>was ever given a chance to release on Steam. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. <v Speaker 2>I get games need to perform to justify going, but <v Speaker 2>I lay a lot of the blame for this at <v Speaker 2>Ubisoft's feet. <v Speaker 4>How about you, oh one hundred, Like they had such <v Speaker 4>a good window too, in terms of there was nothing <v Speaker 4>else coming out. They fucking put it on you Play, <v Speaker 4>which is a system that, like, I will give them, <v Speaker 4>I will give them. I'm actually wearing a fucking Ubisoft <v Speaker 4>shirt because I didn't realize what we were talking about <v Speaker 4>this it's really comfy. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. <v Speaker 3>The thing about Ubosoft. <v Speaker 4>They homogenized the way that they made games, Like so <v Speaker 4>many of their games of the past ten years have <v Speaker 4>just slowly, you like, drawn towards this same formula, and <v Speaker 4>every Ubisoft game feels like a Ubisoft game, And that <v Speaker 4>can be a blessing and a curse. <v Speaker 3>Don't get me wrong. I love the feeling of. <v Speaker 4>Booting up Assassin's Creed or something and feeling like I <v Speaker 4>understand the language of the game and I know exactly <v Speaker 4>what I'm doing I know how this game works, I <v Speaker 4>know how this world works. <v Speaker 3>I know what impact I can have on it. <v Speaker 1>Right. <v Speaker 4>However, at the same time, Ubosoft has become incredibly risk averse. <v Speaker 4>Its development teams are too big, Like there is no <v Speaker 4>need to have that many studios working on shit around <v Speaker 4>the world for that long. <v Speaker 3>It scullum bones, I'm looking at you, right. <v Speaker 4>And then they used to have, like ten years ago, <v Speaker 4>they had this really great incubation like Team Well, like <v Speaker 4>I guess it was a label within their own within Ubisoft, <v Speaker 4>Like that's where Child of Light, Valiant Hearts, even Raymann <v Speaker 4>Origins like that, those kind of things. <v Speaker 3>Those kind of games came out from these smaller. <v Speaker 4>Projects that were buy and by really really good, and <v Speaker 4>then Ubosoft was like, well, they're not moving the needle enough. <v Speaker 3>We're going to put everyone back on. <v Speaker 4>Assassin's Creed and Lost Crown was this glimmer of hope <v Speaker 4>that Ubisoft had realized that they needed more innovation, They <v Speaker 4>needed more interesting titles, they needed more things to do <v Speaker 4>with the incredible licenses an ip that they have, and <v Speaker 4>then they fuck it by putting it on a system <v Speaker 4>that no one has, like no one wants ender the <v Speaker 4>store front. No, why didn't you just put it on Steam? Yes, <v Speaker 4>you get a bigger rev shit, but whatever. Anyway, it's <v Speaker 4>really really frustrating because this game was so good and <v Speaker 4>there was so many like I can easily see an <v Speaker 4>Assassin's creed in this in this vein, you know, yes, <v Speaker 4>easily see other other franchises that they own could be <v Speaker 4>given to other teams to do interesting things with. <v Speaker 3>And it kills me that, no, like what are they <v Speaker 3>getting put on? The getting put on? <v Speaker 2>Uh? <v Speaker 3>I can't read? <v Speaker 4>Oh, I think I saw it in a tweet, but <v Speaker 4>it's just like, hey, there's gonna be like a Raymann <v Speaker 4>thing and there's gonna be this thing. <v Speaker 2>In this oh yeah yeah, and apparently like this might <v Speaker 2>result in a Raymn, But to me that sounds like <v Speaker 2>something you say to soften the blood, like well, this <v Speaker 2>gets us a Raymn, And it's like I'll believe that <v Speaker 2>when I see it. Yeah, but yeah, I think that <v Speaker 2>you'd be saft. Just it was in this weird in <v Speaker 2>between phase where they're like are we going Steam? <v Speaker 1>Are we not? They were going back and forth. <v Speaker 2>Since then, they had you know, the major some major <v Speaker 2>like stumbling blocks and or failures like Star Wars Outlaws <v Speaker 2>comes out, and is you know that the reviews are <v Speaker 2>in between mixed all this stuff that there's some people <v Speaker 2>like it, some people really don't like it. <v Speaker 1>But in the. <v Speaker 2>Wake of that, I think they've said, well, we're coming <v Speaker 2>back to Steam. Our stuff's going to be on Steam. <v Speaker 2>And it's like, okay, man, wow, you just you make <v Speaker 2>these decisions a bit too late, and it doesn't seem <v Speaker 2>like it's going to help the games that are coming <v Speaker 2>out now because Sassa's Creed Assassine Creed would have done fine, <v Speaker 2>that's gonna sell a ton on consoles. <v Speaker 1>It's it's gonna be fine. <v Speaker 2>All right, Yeah, put it on Steam for sure, do <v Speaker 2>your thing. But it would have helped out Prince Persia <v Speaker 2>a ton. It would have helped out Star Wars Outlaws <v Speaker 2>a ton. Uh So yeah, just kind of seems weird. <v Speaker 3>Persia is on Steam, right. <v Speaker 2>It came out on Steam in August. It was introduced <v Speaker 2>i think a disc at a discount. Yeah, it was you, Yeah, <v Speaker 2>the Prince of Persia, the Rogue Prince. That one's early <v Speaker 2>access and the weird thing. This one was just like <v Speaker 2>kind of just kind of stumbled on the Steam eventually. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>Ubisoft seems hopeless to me, That's really what it is. <v Speaker 2>It seems hopeless in terms of the people running that <v Speaker 2>company knowing how to make the most out of the <v Speaker 2>work that their teams are doing. And the teams are <v Speaker 2>mostly doing pretty good work. Uh when when they're when <v Speaker 2>they are given the chance to stretch their legs. I <v Speaker 2>know that people are sick of the Ubi Soft style <v Speaker 2>game uh, and there's kind of not much to be <v Speaker 2>done about that until, like, you know, they break through <v Speaker 2>onto some new uh formula. But as it stands right now, <v Speaker 2>that they have people, they're gonna have just kind of <v Speaker 2>up continue doing their best work in the confinence with <v Speaker 2>which within which they work. But yeah, and then then <v Speaker 2>when they put their game out, the Ubi Soft corporate structure. <v Speaker 1>Is going to screw it up once again. <v Speaker 2>It seems like, So yeah, I feel bad for everyone <v Speaker 2>who's doing hard work over there. All right, let's let's <v Speaker 2>take a quick break. When we come back. Batman Arkham <v Speaker 2>shadow reviews are in. Mario and Luigi Brothers ship has <v Speaker 2>leaked a whole bunch more. <v Speaker 3>Right after this, my cats were fighting. <v Speaker 1>Don't fight, kiddies. <v Speaker 3>Don't be a bully. <v Speaker 2>Peanut, Peanuts, stop being a Bully and we're back as well. Uh, <v Speaker 2>let's let's talk about Batman Arkham Shadow, which is that <v Speaker 2>new VR Batman game, which you know, I think I've <v Speaker 2>heard people before it came out be like that one <v Speaker 2>seems like it's gonna be pretty good. So you know, <v Speaker 2>Camouflage is making it. They make good VR games, and <v Speaker 2>I wonder, is this something that's going to register on <v Speaker 2>a lot of people's radars, And I think, you know, <v Speaker 2>it's hard to tell right now, but like you look, <v Speaker 2>I look at this on Open Critic at least, it <v Speaker 2>has just five reviews, and it's like, okay, yeah, that's <v Speaker 2>people just aren't going to pick up their VR thing <v Speaker 2>to even review a new exciting Batman game. <v Speaker 3>But on those it's three only My Quest. <v Speaker 1>Three three Quest three, yes, just came in. But you know, <v Speaker 1>Medo Quest three has been on sale for a while. <v Speaker 2>And it's it's been the one. I think it's probably <v Speaker 2>sold the best. I think they had at. <v Speaker 1>A pretty competitive price for a while. I think they did. <v Speaker 2>Eventually raise the price because it was to a selling <v Speaker 2>well during the pandemic or something like that. But yeah, yes, <v Speaker 2>you know, definitely, but yeah, five reviews, including Dan Stapleton <v Speaker 2>at IGN who gave it an eight and wrote, Batman <v Speaker 2>Arkham Shadow makes most of the Arkham series, is defining <v Speaker 2>gameplay work respectably well in VR, and its mystery story <v Speaker 2>pays off. Graham Russell ex Silicon EA gave it an eight. Well, <v Speaker 2>may not have the immersive mechanics to be a great <v Speaker 2>VR introduction, Batman Arkham Shadow is fun to play and <v Speaker 2>faithful to its Arkham predecessors, and yeah, picking off enemies <v Speaker 2>one by one feels great. David Verdette at Gaming Trend <v Speaker 2>gave it a ninety and said Batman Arkham Shadow is <v Speaker 2>the latest must buy VR title and does its namesake justice. <v Speaker 2>Being Batman is something you dream of, and Camouflage has <v Speaker 2>done great work in putting you under the cow. Where <v Speaker 2>some teams would simply offer a short VR experience, the <v Speaker 2>team has crafted a game rich in depth between combat, exploration, <v Speaker 2>and story. So yeah, it sounds like they've done just <v Speaker 2>about as well as they could with what they were <v Speaker 2>working with here. <v Speaker 1>I've played it. <v Speaker 4>I played it at games Come Yeah, and it rocked. However, <v Speaker 4>I get really bad motion sickness and I want to <v Speaker 4>play it at home right because like. <v Speaker 3>Being at a convention. <v Speaker 4>You can't just sit and you know you've got like <v Speaker 4>an hour long appointment. You can't just sit and go well, <v Speaker 4>I need to specifically fine tune every single thing to <v Speaker 4>my needs. <v Speaker 3>And like you know, so I. <v Speaker 4>Didn't get to play too much of what I did play, Like, <v Speaker 4>the combat was awesome, Like a guy, you know, the <v Speaker 4>counter thing would come up and you would just like <v Speaker 4>punch him off screen. You can like throw a bat around, <v Speaker 4>you can switch the cape to stun them. That was <v Speaker 4>the bit where I was like, I'll find it shit <v Speaker 4>all right? <v Speaker 1>Good? Yeah, like Super Mario World, Okay, I like that. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, well all the Batman games. <v Speaker 2>Or the Batman game of course, yes, it's basically the <v Speaker 2>same thing. Yeah, I'm uh, I'm gonna try to play this. <v Speaker 2>I think I requested the code. They haven't gotten back <v Speaker 2>to me, so we'll see what happens there. But I <v Speaker 2>would like to play this, and if we do, I <v Speaker 2>don't listen. I'm not gonna I'm probably not gonna get <v Speaker 2>in the Batman outfit everybody, but maybe we'll maybe we'll <v Speaker 2>do a verrodeo. Maybe we'll get some VR games together <v Speaker 2>and play. We most of us have either Quest threes <v Speaker 2>or some other form of playing, and we can A <v Speaker 2>lot of these games now are cross platform, so maybe <v Speaker 2>we can make that. <v Speaker 4>Out of I go to three and I'm gonna I'm <v Speaker 4>gonna say this publicly. I don't think anything has been <v Speaker 4>fumbled harder than the release cadence for Beat Saber packs. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I like you could have had a new guitar hero. <v Speaker 4>I understand the licensing costs money, but it is mad <v Speaker 4>to me that Beat Saber came out all of those <v Speaker 4>years ago and we have not had Britney Spears until <v Speaker 4>this moment. <v Speaker 1>Really, that is a failure like they had Gaga. <v Speaker 3>But like right, Billy Eilish, No, I don't want to <v Speaker 3>be playing Billie Eilish songs. Yeah, okay, fine, Lincoln Park, <v Speaker 3>I'll do it, but no, I want Brittany. I want <v Speaker 3>the greats. I want me. <v Speaker 1>Bitch, not talking to you and talking I do. <v Speaker 4>Oh No, anyway, that's just in terms of you know, <v Speaker 4>I know the mod scene is very good, right, but no, <v Speaker 4>in terms of actual release cadence, and in terms of <v Speaker 4>them wanting to make money, why are they not anyway? <v Speaker 1>Yep? Definitely, uh. <v Speaker 2>I you know what I'm gonna move to get back <v Speaker 2>in the Better Quest three I've not used in a <v Speaker 2>few months. Yeah, a few months, and I was having <v Speaker 2>a good time with it for a while. Excuse me, <v Speaker 2>something in my throat. All right, someone just sent me this. <v Speaker 2>I'm gonna read it blind. It's The Dragon Age the <v Speaker 2>Vail Guard ESRB rating summary. All right, let's so, let's <v Speaker 2>go ahead and read this together. This is a role <v Speaker 2>playing game in which players assume the role of a <v Speaker 2>warrior Brook trying to defeat corrupt ancient gods from just <v Speaker 2>from destroyed the worlds of Fetus. That's how it reads. <v Speaker 3>Theatus. <v Speaker 1>Oh, theatos, okay, trying to the dos. <v Speaker 3>No, the dragon Age setting. That's what that sotunds for. <v Speaker 3>Oh my god, I'm not joking. <v Speaker 1>The world credible. <v Speaker 4>The world that Dragonage just said is just called the <v Speaker 4>dragon Age setting fadus incredible. <v Speaker 2>So trying to defeat corrupt ancient gods from destroy the <v Speaker 2>worlds of the dragon Age setting. Players explore environments, interact <v Speaker 2>with characters, performed quests, and battle enemies in melee ranged <v Speaker 2>in magical combat. Character characters use swords, arrows, energy bursts, <v Speaker 2>and elemental texts to defeat various enemies. <v Speaker 1>Uh. <v Speaker 2>Combat is highlighted by cries of pains, explosions, and blood <v Speaker 2>splatter effects. Cutscenes also depict instances of violence and blood. <v Speaker 2>Uh yeah, Characters impaled on swords, shriveled corpses amid bloodstained <v Speaker 2>torture devices. Some scenes depict corpses line and pools slash <v Speaker 2>large splatters of blood. One boss takes place in a large, full, <v Speaker 2>full room full of blood. The game contains some sexual material, <v Speaker 2>Characters kissing, moaning, and straddling each other. Characters caressing each <v Speaker 2>other while in their underwear. Dialogue referencing sex, for example, <v Speaker 2>think about us having sex? Are you trying to have <v Speaker 2>sex with me? Characters are sometimes depicted topless for prolonged <v Speaker 2>periods of time, example character customization, and or during love scenes. <v Speaker 1>The word fuck appears in the game. And that's the <v Speaker 1>end of the rating summary. <v Speaker 2>That sounds like a video game to me. Yeah, sounds <v Speaker 2>like a good time. Yeah this game is God. When <v Speaker 2>is this game out? <v Speaker 1>Like next week on Halloween? Yeah? Okay, so about eight <v Speaker 1>days from now? All right? <v Speaker 3>And I just saw oh yeah, the Monster Hunt of <v Speaker 3>Wild's open beta will also be Halloween. <v Speaker 1>Oh my god? Really? All right? <v Speaker 4>Well, and so all you're plan Sorry kids when I'm <v Speaker 4>going trick or treating this year. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, we already got the treats at home, and it's <v Speaker 2>topless character customation customization screens. <v Speaker 4>Yeah. <v Speaker 2>The insane thing about penises though, So maybe they're not <v Speaker 2>going to do the full ballers Kate three noyeah probably not. <v Speaker 1>Huh. <v Speaker 2>All right, back to your regularly scheduled news here. Mario <v Speaker 2>and Luigi Brothership has. <v Speaker 1>Reportedly leaked online. <v Speaker 2>Now, I got in trouble because multiple times yesterday I <v Speaker 2>called it mother in Luigi on the Yeah, because what <v Speaker 2>I try to read, everything happens at once in my <v Speaker 2>brain when I'm reading, and so Mario Luigi Brothership the <v Speaker 2>Mothership exactly, and it becomes Mothership and then that like <v Speaker 2>creaks its way over and replaces Mario. <v Speaker 1>I'll try. I can explain myself. All I want. All <v Speaker 1>people are. <v Speaker 2>Mother and Luigi has reportedly leaked online from Liam Doolin <v Speaker 2>at Nintendo Life. Throughout the Switch generation, first party titles <v Speaker 2>have often leaked online ahead of their official launch. Now, <v Speaker 2>following the reveal of the game's credits earlier this week, <v Speaker 2>Mario and Luigi Brothership has supposedly leaked online, according to <v Speaker 2>multiple reports at least one person got access to an <v Speaker 2>early copy of the title and has uploaded the ROM <v Speaker 2>to the internet. Brothership isn't scheduled to arrive until the seventh, <v Speaker 2>so quite some time away. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, this happens over and over again. <v Speaker 2>I think it continues to explain Nintendo's behavior recently with <v Speaker 2>cracking down on copy protection in all various kinds of ways, <v Speaker 2>suing just about everybody they can has violated anything. And <v Speaker 2>I think it also like sets the ground for what <v Speaker 2>the switch to is going to be in terms of <v Speaker 2>probably it'll probably have very fierce copyright protection, and they <v Speaker 2>like a lot of the reason that they are launching <v Speaker 2>that console is to sort of just reset the clock <v Speaker 2>on piracy. And yeah, because I mean next week a <v Speaker 2>lot of people are going to be playing this game already. <v Speaker 1>They're gonna go find you. <v Speaker 2>Know, right REUJINX has been taken down, you could still <v Speaker 2>find that the other one now I can't remember, even <v Speaker 2>though because Nintenda wiped off the face of the planet <v Speaker 2>uzu Uzu was wiped off the internet. No, there's still <v Speaker 2>ways to get that despite what Nintendo's done. So people <v Speaker 2>are gonna go get those emulators play this game starting <v Speaker 2>right now. And while Nintendo's sales are fine, like not <v Speaker 2>just fine, they're great. Their games continue to sell very well, <v Speaker 2>better than most other companies that they gain beta, but <v Speaker 2>Nintenda thinks they could be better. <v Speaker 1>Yes, so, uh ye, you. <v Speaker 4>Are the one that was in the steam deck advert. <v Speaker 1>Yes, yes, it was a great game. <v Speaker 2>Uh huh someone about just using their Steam Deck to <v Speaker 2>play switch games and yep there was God that was <v Speaker 2>funny all right. Bungee Creative team moves to PlayStation. This <v Speaker 2>is from Sony Sophie McAvoy at Games Industry Dobiz. Bunge's <v Speaker 2>Creative Studios team has moved to PlayStation Studios to support <v Speaker 2>its live service games. Former Senior Creative Director of Bungie <v Speaker 2>Creative I think a bunch of creative Bridget O'Neill share <v Speaker 2>the news on LinkedIn, writing that the team will build <v Speaker 2>the foundation for a creative team within PlayStation. O'Neill has <v Speaker 2>announced she would be taking on the role of Senior <v Speaker 2>Director of Creative at PlayStation Studios. <v Speaker 1>Here's a quote from her. <v Speaker 2>This opportunity to share our experience working on Bunchie titles <v Speaker 2>with other studios that are building live service games is <v Speaker 2>so exciting, she wrote, live service is hard and comes <v Speaker 2>with a unique set of challenges. So with PlayStation and <v Speaker 2>Bungie working together, we will be able to give a <v Speaker 2>huge jumpstart on development for new games as they enter <v Speaker 2>the competitive market. In July, bunche laid off two hundred <v Speaker 2>and twenty developers, which amounted to seventeen percent of its <v Speaker 2>overall headcount. In additional, one hundred and fifty five roles <v Speaker 2>went from Bungie over to Sony and Interactive Entertainment. Seems <v Speaker 2>like the bulk of that is going to be this <v Speaker 2>creative solutions team that is responsible for making sure that <v Speaker 2>the live services all live service. Y. Yeah, it feels <v Speaker 2>like this was always part of maybe the thinking of <v Speaker 2>like how bunch you can help Sony, and now they <v Speaker 2>are just working on all those Sony Interactive Entertainment PlayStation <v Speaker 2>games like First and the Bungie stuff is not even secondary. <v Speaker 1>It's not a concern anymore. That's Bungie. Now. What about <v Speaker 1>how do you read all this? <v Speaker 3>God, it's like watching the slow, sad demise of Bungee. <v Speaker 4>Yes, it sucks, dude, Yeah, I don't know. I think <v Speaker 4>PlayStations certainly need help in their live service push. If <v Speaker 4>the last couple of years have been anything to go by. <v Speaker 4>But also, who is there anything less exciting than the <v Speaker 4>phrase creative solutions? <v Speaker 1>Yeah? <v Speaker 4>Yeah, I don't know PlayStation and bunge working together were <v Speaker 4>able to help them. Yeah, okay, I mean I guess <v Speaker 4>it's nice that they have a like a dedicated core team. However, <v Speaker 4>I feel like there's also the flip side of that <v Speaker 4>where it's like, oh, if you have a dedicated core <v Speaker 4>team and you know, does that mean that other studios <v Speaker 4>like have to follow what they say, Like is there <v Speaker 4>going to be any space left for things like like <v Speaker 4>other innovation and what if what if Bungee Nix is <v Speaker 4>the idea? <v Speaker 3>Right? <v Speaker 4>And then it's like up, they said we can't do it, <v Speaker 4>so we can't do it. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, That's definitely something we've seen before as well, where <v Speaker 2>you know, Bungeie went into a bunch of the game, <v Speaker 2>the live service games that were in the works and <v Speaker 2>sort of did give reasons why maybe something like Factions <v Speaker 2>from Naughty Dogs shouldn't even get released, and now it's <v Speaker 2>not getting released. I think the idea might be with this, <v Speaker 2>they're going to integrate into these live service teams earlier <v Speaker 2>so they don't get to that point, so they know <v Speaker 2>the best practices. But I think that the idea that <v Speaker 2>you know and understand, even as bungee the best practices <v Speaker 2>for making a live service game has kind of proven <v Speaker 2>untrue a lot of like over and over again, where <v Speaker 2>it's like we think we know what we're doing, We're <v Speaker 2>going to make this new expansion. Guess what we screwed <v Speaker 2>up in a new and surprising way. We did something <v Speaker 2>that annoyed our fans in a new and surprising way <v Speaker 2>that we could not have anticipated. <v Speaker 1>And it just seems like. <v Speaker 2>You have to make this stuff screw up and then <v Speaker 2>fix it. And that's live service games, at least on <v Speaker 2>the console. On PC side, I think maybe things are <v Speaker 2>the scales smaller on mobile, and maybe the mobile gamer <v Speaker 2>once things that are more rote, more predictable, so it's <v Speaker 2>easy just to give them the match three game they want. <v Speaker 2>But when you're trying to make a big, complicated game <v Speaker 2>that has a lot of moving parts on console and <v Speaker 2>you try to keep very particular gamers happy and then <v Speaker 2>also trying to surprise and delight them, I. <v Speaker 1>Think it's like you're just gonna keep making new. <v Speaker 2>Mistakes, and I guess you can go in there as <v Speaker 2>the Bungee team that's been through the stuff. Now it's <v Speaker 2>Sony in our interactive entertainment and say, here's the stuff <v Speaker 2>we have learned, here's the stuff we know doesn't work. <v Speaker 2>But I mean, I think people could like look over <v Speaker 2>it at Destiny and copy a lot of that stuff <v Speaker 2>without needing that. And no one's really been able to <v Speaker 2>do that because it's just so hard to make these games. <v Speaker 2>It feels like people need to fail on their own <v Speaker 2>to figure it out. <v Speaker 1>But I don't know. <v Speaker 2>I don't blame Sony for trying to avoid that. It <v Speaker 2>would save them a lot of money if they could <v Speaker 2>just get these things out in a better situation the <v Speaker 2>first time, so they can get to the micro transactions <v Speaker 2>rather than here's the free update to fix all the <v Speaker 2>stuff we screwed up. <v Speaker 4>Right, It's almost as if getting in on the ground <v Speaker 4>floor with goodwill instead of earning trust back would probably. <v Speaker 2>Be Yeah, I think that's the whole business, you know, <v Speaker 2>case for this, and at the very least, you know, <v Speaker 2>one hundred and fifty five jobs saved, because otherwise, you know, <v Speaker 2>if they weren't doing this, what would they be doing. <v Speaker 2>So the very least, I'm glad that Sony seasonded for <v Speaker 2>these people, and I hope that it results and it seems. <v Speaker 3>Value on those people. That's I think one of the <v Speaker 3>bigges things. <v Speaker 4>That's like, you know, layoffs get reported and you know <v Speaker 4>you are losing all of that institutionalized knowledge, and you know, <v Speaker 4>people who have been at their craft for so long <v Speaker 4>and they get booted because of mistakes made by people <v Speaker 4>by not then basically, and so I am really glad that, <v Speaker 4>like one of the big things that I've heard from <v Speaker 4>people who have been lid off is that they just <v Speaker 4>feel so. <v Speaker 3>Devaluates, devalued, unvalued. <v Speaker 1>What the hell is the phrase he devalued? That's right, he. <v Speaker 3>Valued as a human being and in their skills. And <v Speaker 3>so this is, you know, the pixel. <v Speaker 4>With the silver lining is that these people's value has <v Speaker 4>been seen and like kind of hopefully will be taken <v Speaker 4>into account in the new role. <v Speaker 3>I don't know, it's been such a shit fucking. <v Speaker 1>I don't know. <v Speaker 3>And for what are they doing? I should say, what <v Speaker 3>do they They don't. <v Speaker 2>They definitely don't know what they're doing for Bungee Uh <v Speaker 2>Marathon continues to feel like this thing where listen, we <v Speaker 2>know destiny what it is and what the fans want <v Speaker 2>from that. And the plan going forward for Destiny Too <v Speaker 2>has been let's make more frequent content, but lesser it'll be. <v Speaker 2>It will not be quite as robust as the previous <v Speaker 2>giant content content releases, the expansions where I do smaller <v Speaker 2>things more frequently, and I think it's reasonable to expect <v Speaker 2>Destiny fans aren't going to be happy with that, although <v Speaker 2>who knows, they could surprise us and maybe this is <v Speaker 2>the bright new future. <v Speaker 1>For Destiny to and it solves all their problems. <v Speaker 2>The more likely situation is that Marathon is the thing <v Speaker 2>that actually needs to come out and save them, and boy, <v Speaker 2>that puts a lot of pressure on that game that <v Speaker 2>just no one really knows if that's what anyone wants. Now, <v Speaker 2>I think it's got a better chance of success because <v Speaker 2>it is Bungee, and Bungie does know how to make <v Speaker 2>a solid shooter, and if the shooting mechanics are good, <v Speaker 2>people will show up for that. But if it's you know, <v Speaker 2>an also ran extraction shooter that people don't even necessarily <v Speaker 2>care about because maybe the extraction the trend has already <v Speaker 2>come and gone, that could leave that game in a <v Speaker 2>bad situation and then what is the future of Bunge <v Speaker 2>at that point, it feels like there isn't one. <v Speaker 1>I don't know, what do you think? <v Speaker 4>Yeah, Marathon definitely feels like the Macro break at this point. <v Speaker 4>And unfortunately, I mean, there's no faith left, certainly in <v Speaker 4>Pete Parsons, in Bungee's upper leadership. There is. <v Speaker 3>I know, like a malaise I guess around the studio, <v Speaker 3>like Marathon is not getting people excited at this point. <v Speaker 3>And that's the thing where it's like, maybe they show <v Speaker 3>off Marathon. <v Speaker 4>Maybe people go to Bungee and play Marathon and the <v Speaker 4>word of mouth starts is spread that it's actually a <v Speaker 4>fantastic game. <v Speaker 3>I would love for that to happen. <v Speaker 4>Right now, we're in this weird follow period where it <v Speaker 4>feels like Bungee can't really say anything about it and <v Speaker 4>they can't and they can't show it off because it's <v Speaker 4>not ready. <v Speaker 3>So yep, we just have to wait and see. <v Speaker 2>All right, last couple of stories here, Gorilla said that <v Speaker 2>they are we were done with kill Zone as a team. <v Speaker 2>That's that's the quote. This is from Jonas Mackie at <v Speaker 2>Game Reactor ten years ago. Gorilla said goodbye to the <v Speaker 2>kill Zone series, but fans haven't forgotten about it, and <v Speaker 2>many are hoping for a new game in the series, <v Speaker 2>are they or a reboot of one of the first <v Speaker 2>two installments. But maybe we shouldn't get our hopes up <v Speaker 2>too high, it seems. In an interview with The Washington <v Speaker 2>Post via Insider Gaming, the studio's art director Roe Pastama <v Speaker 2>Postma says it was a very conscious choice to leave <v Speaker 2>kill Zone, stating they were done with the series. We <v Speaker 2>were done with it as a team, as a studio, <v Speaker 2>we needed we needed to refresh the palette. It was, <v Speaker 2>by choice, the opposite of kill Zone. I think the <v Speaker 2>themes that this story and characters represent are relatable for <v Speaker 2>all ages and people, like having a found family or friends. <v Speaker 1>In finding your place in the world. <v Speaker 2>Of course, this doesn't mean that the franchise is dead <v Speaker 2>and buried forever, but there doesn't seem to be a <v Speaker 2>new kill Zone in the works, and. <v Speaker 1>That sounds about right. <v Speaker 2>For one thing, it does seem like Horizon was significantly <v Speaker 2>more successful than kill Zone ever was, right. <v Speaker 4>Mm yeah, I mean now instead of a new kill Zone, <v Speaker 4>we're getting five different Horizon projects or whatever. <v Speaker 2>We are definitely getting a lot of Horizon how long <v Speaker 2>before they get sick of Horizon? <v Speaker 1>Right, if they got sick of kill Zone, I'm saying nothing. <v Speaker 3>No, I. <v Speaker 1>She's already sick of it. <v Speaker 4>So yeah, No, It's like it's indicative of the way <v Speaker 4>that the publisher, like like big publishers work. <v Speaker 3>It's like, oh my god, this one thing work. Let's <v Speaker 3>double down and just absolutely milk it to death. It's <v Speaker 3>so frustrating. It's so frustrating. <v Speaker 1>Yep. <v Speaker 3>Anyway, And also, Horizon is a game that I just <v Speaker 3>I don't get it. <v Speaker 4>I don't get it, like it's a it's a beautiful game, <v Speaker 4>but it just yeah, it doesn't make me feel anything, <v Speaker 4>and I. <v Speaker 3>Think that is that is it. <v Speaker 4>I'm not to say that the kill Zone made me <v Speaker 4>feel deep emotions. I think I played like one kill Zone. <v Speaker 1>Like kill zones. <v Speaker 2>The answer, no, way, yes, yeah, I agree with that <v Speaker 2>if by we them, if I'm me, I don't want <v Speaker 2>you to go back to kill Zone instead of Horizon. <v Speaker 1>Make another Horizon. At the very least they're pretty looking. <v Speaker 2>I mean kill Zone was pretty whatever, but I don't <v Speaker 2>think kill zones. The answer did you watch the pickle <v Speaker 2>draft this morning? I put it in the in the <v Speaker 2>slack the video of the cartoon of you playing skull <v Speaker 2>Island Ris. <v Speaker 1>No, not yet. <v Speaker 3>I need you realize that. <v Speaker 1>I wake up like right now. I know That's why <v Speaker 1>I knew you think up like twenty minutes. <v Speaker 4>Well, I check that we're still on, and then I <v Speaker 4>just like run around, get ready to make a coffee. <v Speaker 1>So for you, I get it. <v Speaker 3>Yes, No, that I'm just I'm just I'm a tired bitch. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. No, I get that too. <v Speaker 2>But when you get a chance to watch it, there <v Speaker 2>is there is the bit in there where you do <v Speaker 2>the impression of ali. <v Speaker 1>Uh and that's that's. Oh no, I was happy about that. <v Speaker 1>Oh is it? <v Speaker 3>My pack is full? <v Speaker 1>Yeah, Oh I should pick that up. Oh my package <v Speaker 1>pack is full. Oh I should pick that up. Oh <v Speaker 1>my pack isful. It's very good. <v Speaker 2>Black op six is make or break for the game <v Speaker 2>pass strategy. This is an opinion piece over a games <v Speaker 2>Industry Dot Biz from Rob Fay. He go read it everybody, <v Speaker 2>but I was. I was wondering if I get your take, <v Speaker 2>because I'm like, I don't. I don't know if it is, <v Speaker 2>but not because I think game pass continues to be <v Speaker 2>the future. I think they've accepted game Pass for what <v Speaker 2>it is, and now they are actively in pursuit of <v Speaker 2>the next big strategy to grow, and it's not game Pass. <v Speaker 1>I think they've already settled on that. <v Speaker 2>I think if we're talking about make or break, I <v Speaker 2>think game passes already not like broken, but it's been <v Speaker 2>broken in and it is what it is, and they <v Speaker 2>will accept it being I think Phil Spencer said a <v Speaker 2>year ago, maybe more than that, it's fifteen percent of <v Speaker 2>our business. Now, we expect you to be fifteen percent <v Speaker 2>of our business going forward, and that's that. And I <v Speaker 2>believe them now. And I think it's like whether Call <v Speaker 2>of Duty helps game Pass or not, it's not about that. <v Speaker 2>It's about growing sales in other directions. <v Speaker 1>Does that sound right to you? <v Speaker 4>I mean yeah, I think at this point you are <v Speaker 4>a fool if you only have one dedicated like revenue <v Speaker 4>source and so diversifying. I think game Pass it was <v Speaker 4>always oh, it's the best deal in gaming, and I <v Speaker 4>think for a consumer that is still certainly the case. <v Speaker 3>Developers definitely getting. <v Speaker 2>Ope, Lucy, we've lost you. You know what I'm lu saying, <v Speaker 2>I'm gonna do something real quick. <v Speaker 1>I'm going to change the thing it. <v Speaker 2>Let's go here us Wes we lost. You're for me, Yes, <v Speaker 2>you're back for me now, but I'm going to change <v Speaker 2>the region there we go. It was set to the <v Speaker 2>US East. I think this will be better. I meant <v Speaker 2>to do this earlier. It's hard to talking, and I <v Speaker 2>don't want to do in the middle when you're talking <v Speaker 2>because it will stop you from talking. But yes, you <v Speaker 2>were saying that, like, uh. <v Speaker 1>Call duty. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, I mean, I still think there will be a <v Speaker 4>sizable bump for Game Pass with the release of Black Op. <v Speaker 3>I think if if there isn't, that should be alarm bells. <v Speaker 4>I'm interested to see here if like what their internal <v Speaker 4>targets off all that things as well that I do wonder. <v Speaker 3>I think we as hashtag gamers are kind of I don't. <v Speaker 4>Know, does it It feels like we've been advertised something <v Speaker 4>that we already know about. Do you think Xbox is <v Speaker 4>doing enough to reach a new audience to literally no <v Speaker 4>idea what Game Past is? <v Speaker 3>Like, There'll be a trailer and it just says play <v Speaker 3>a day. <v Speaker 4>One with Game Past, and then you're like, well, what <v Speaker 4>the hell is game pas? And I'm saying this purely <v Speaker 4>because my aunt and uncle are getting into gaming and <v Speaker 4>they like one of one of my uncles plays a <v Speaker 4>lot of games, but they have to ask me what <v Speaker 4>everything is. Like I had to walk them through how <v Speaker 4>to set up PSM or something right, and it's like, <v Speaker 4>oh my god, I realized, like for you, this is <v Speaker 4>a new thing. Like they don't understand what this is <v Speaker 4>at all. I tried to explain the concept of game <v Speaker 4>pass to them and they just had no idea. <v Speaker 3>I think it's like I wonder, Yeah, I don't know. <v Speaker 3>We're just we're just surrounded by the damn thing all <v Speaker 3>the time. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. <v Speaker 2>I think it's it's part of this thing that, like <v Speaker 2>I like the last mile problem I've talked about on <v Speaker 2>the show before, where someone could decide they want to <v Speaker 2>play games and then and then you could put a <v Speaker 2>bunch of options in front of them and be like, look, <v Speaker 2>game pass is the best deal. But like getting them <v Speaker 2>from deciding to play games to that point is okay am, <v Speaker 2>I going to spend at least three hundred. <v Speaker 1>Dollars on a console? <v Speaker 2>And if I'm gonna do that, okay am, I maybe <v Speaker 2>I should get the five hundred dollars one. <v Speaker 1>That's a lot of cash right there. That's a major hurdle. <v Speaker 1>And then after that then you could subscribe to this thing. <v Speaker 2>Now there's the alternative, right, Well, okay, well what if <v Speaker 2>I just get game Pass for x Cloud and that <v Speaker 2>that's an option, right, that's how they were going to <v Speaker 2>solve this. But that's not that doesn't like get rid <v Speaker 2>of all the problems. Okay, do they have a controller? <v Speaker 2>Do they know how to contect a controller over Bluetooth <v Speaker 2>to their television so that they could stream it to <v Speaker 2>the x the Xbox Cloud app on their like, these <v Speaker 2>are problems that just aren't easily remedied. <v Speaker 1>There's no just like. <v Speaker 4>Trying to explain this over a video call from hosts <v Speaker 4>and uncles out there, Yes, no way. <v Speaker 2>I think what what happened is is that they Xbox <v Speaker 2>did what they could in terms of presenting the solutions <v Speaker 2>that they could control, and none of it was compelling <v Speaker 2>enough to get the people over those humps, to get <v Speaker 2>them over those those frustrations and those frictions. And so <v Speaker 2>I think, like you talked about alarm bells going enough, <v Speaker 2>if call of duty doesn't grow game Pass, I don't <v Speaker 2>think those alarms are even set anymore. I think they <v Speaker 2>know exactly what game Pass is to them now, and <v Speaker 2>it's going to be one option among many, and it's <v Speaker 2>no longer like I bet the next time we hear <v Speaker 2>about the bonus structure, where for a long time, the <v Speaker 2>bonus structure for like Phil Spencer and I think even <v Speaker 2>Satia Nadella was tied to growth of game Pass, I <v Speaker 2>don't think it's I don't think they're bonus structures tied <v Speaker 2>to that anymore. <v Speaker 1>And going forward, it's like. <v Speaker 2>Man, no, okay, we did that was the game experiment. <v Speaker 2>It succeeded to this degree, and so our expectations will <v Speaker 2>now be in line with that, where previously they were <v Speaker 2>sky high for it, and it's like, no, we got <v Speaker 2>the thirty million. Those are the gamers that are in <v Speaker 2>our ecosystem that are willing to make that leaf. Growing <v Speaker 2>beyond that audience has turned out to be basically impossible, <v Speaker 2>you know. <v Speaker 3>Not. <v Speaker 1>We're going to. <v Speaker 2>Slowly trickle in more people, and it's going to be <v Speaker 2>the people who are buying consoles and then a handful <v Speaker 2>of people on PC who get game Pass through windows, <v Speaker 2>although that's going to be a significantly smaller audience because <v Speaker 2>Steam is just so dominant there, so they could do <v Speaker 2>they could do other things, say hey, let's put game <v Speaker 2>Pass into Steam, but I don't. <v Speaker 1>I don't think they care enough to do that anymore. <v Speaker 2>I think that they spent sixty nine billion dollars on Activision, <v Speaker 2>and since then it feels like game passes. Like, man, <v Speaker 2>we make a lot of money just selling Call of Duty, right, <v Speaker 2>and we make a lot of money just from Candy Carossaga, right, <v Speaker 2>like money that eclipses game pass. <v Speaker 1>Let's just do what Activision was doing and make more <v Speaker 1>Call of Duty. <v Speaker 3>So I think, did you did you read Try's book? <v Speaker 1>I just ordered it. Actually it's on the way I've <v Speaker 1>read it yet. <v Speaker 4>There's a very key point about how when Bobby took <v Speaker 4>over an Activision, he surrounded himself his C suite with <v Speaker 4>people from and stuff. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, during gambling, and one of the c's. <v Speaker 4>CTO, CFO whatever was basically like, well, why can't why <v Speaker 4>can't you make games just like how we make products? <v Speaker 1>Yeah, yep. <v Speaker 4>It's like great book, great book, some incredible little tidbits, <v Speaker 4>but there are some moments that are just so profoundly <v Speaker 4>depressing with how C suites see the creation and publishing <v Speaker 4>of video games. <v Speaker 2>So I mean like Procter and Gamble like they have <v Speaker 2>all those Like here's the Lady Razor. Look at the <v Speaker 2>lady version of GTA. <v Speaker 1>Let's do that. That'll be fun. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, the boks will be pink appeal to the women. <v Speaker 4>And then a tiny we'll make make them a new <v Speaker 4>We'll make them a new controller for their tiny delicate hands. <v Speaker 1>Perfect there, it is, just do that. <v Speaker 2>The more money in the bank, last a little just <v Speaker 2>a tsa here, I think, mostly because I have it <v Speaker 2>in Fantasy Critics, so I noticed it esa the psa <v Speaker 2>uh Metal Slug Tactics November release date and physical release revealed. <v Speaker 2>This is from aman at my Nintendo News. Metal Slug <v Speaker 2>Tactics will be ready to rumble come Tuesday, November fifth. <v Speaker 2>Publisher dot Emu revealed the release date and the inclusion <v Speaker 2>of three additional characters to a trailer. <v Speaker 1>That can be seen now online. I was wondering if <v Speaker 1>this game would make it this year. <v Speaker 2>It was like this, it's skate story I have in <v Speaker 2>Fantasy Critic, and I'm like, I should go out and <v Speaker 2>reach out to these companies so I can get it <v Speaker 2>on the record that they're not coming out this year, <v Speaker 2>because then if it's not come out this year, I <v Speaker 2>can drop them and get a different game. <v Speaker 1>But it looks. I won't. <v Speaker 2>I won't have to do that for Metal Silk Tactics, <v Speaker 2>and I'm feeling pretty helpful. <v Speaker 1>For this one. <v Speaker 3>It's not been on my radar. I haven't. I don't <v Speaker 3>think I've played a Metal Slug since I was at university, <v Speaker 3>but I am. I'm happy for you, thank you. <v Speaker 2>It popped up in a Nintendo Direct forever ago, and <v Speaker 2>it's like, man, that's a good idea. I like a <v Speaker 2>metal Slug, but and I like tactics games, and that <v Speaker 2>then's a fun, colorful game where it's like you could <v Speaker 2>very easily understand, Oh, this guy's a gunner, this guy's <v Speaker 2>got a rocket launcher. This one could do this, then <v Speaker 2>that one can do that, and they have different strengths <v Speaker 2>and weaknesses. It had a demo during a next Fest <v Speaker 2>and I tried it and it wouldn't work on the <v Speaker 2>Steam deck because it was like expecting mouse and keyboard, <v Speaker 2>and even with the touch pad it was it was weird. <v Speaker 2>So I'm hoping that they got everything put together here <v Speaker 2>and it's a real solid game. <v Speaker 1>And it's a roguelike too. I like Roebtes, so that's fantastic. Okay, <v Speaker 1>that does it for the use headlines. <v Speaker 4>Uh do Wilmot Wilmot Wilmot game comes out in less <v Speaker 4>than an hour? <v Speaker 1>Oh shit, yeah, I played Wilmot's Warehouse. They said, this <v Speaker 1>is the third game in the Wilmot Cinematic universe out. <v Speaker 4>It's basically like you just fil you just do puzzles. <v Speaker 4>I played the demo a game and it rocked and <v Speaker 4>it's out. <v Speaker 1>I liked just doing puzzles today. I need that. <v Speaker 3>Okay, well it's literally like like like Jigsaw puzzles. <v Speaker 1>Oh okay, that's fun too. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, it was really fun. Anyway, that's coming out. Thank <v Speaker 3>you so much. Who put that in? Was it octu ocato? <v Speaker 1>It was all right. I appreciate it. <v Speaker 2>Whole question from yesterday or earlier this week, whatever, do <v Speaker 2>you feel the need for a steam deck two see <v Speaker 2>Twenty six percent said I never felt the need for <v Speaker 2>a steam deck, one twenty percent said yes, I do <v Speaker 2>feel the need for a steam deck too, and fifty <v Speaker 2>three percent more than half of all responding, said no, <v Speaker 2>I don't feel the need for a steam deck too. <v Speaker 2>So uh yeah, I think I voted no. I'm happy <v Speaker 2>with my steam deck for the moment. I am happy <v Speaker 2>that they're waiting until AMD has a real next gen <v Speaker 2>processor to put in this thing, and then at that point, <v Speaker 2>I'm very excited to see what they do, although I'm <v Speaker 2>kind of like, give me more battery life, that would <v Speaker 2>be the best thing. Like, yeah, some better performance here <v Speaker 2>or there, but more battery life, that's really what I want. <v Speaker 1>So yeah, we're probably a year or two away from them. <v Speaker 2>You're talking about a steam deck too, You're you're into <v Speaker 2>the handheld PCs as well, right, you like them. <v Speaker 3>I'm using my Roger Ally's. <v Speaker 4>Putting No, I think I have the original one. So <v Speaker 4>they are, they're putting steam os onto it. But it's <v Speaker 4>it's more a it's a repet brain injury thing, is said. <v Speaker 4>The steam Deck, unfortunately for me, is just very cumbersome <v Speaker 4>for a long amount of time. Also, it's very it's <v Speaker 4>it's much heavier, and so if I'm on a flight, <v Speaker 4>I don't want to be like this is the whole time. <v Speaker 4>I want to be kind of being able to do that. <v Speaker 1>So I rock ally. <v Speaker 3>I was playing a lot of metaphor on it when <v Speaker 3>I was on my most recent trip, and it was <v Speaker 3>it was a good time. <v Speaker 1>Yep, got mine worse on it. It's batteries terrible yes, <v Speaker 1>but Roger l X was a little bit better. Apparently <v Speaker 1>Mike and Dan both fell and they've been playing stuff <v Speaker 1>on there. <v Speaker 2>I know Mike prefers the Roger ally as well, and <v Speaker 2>so he was happy with the X that did have <v Speaker 2>a better battery, although it's you know, it's one of <v Speaker 2>those ones that I think if you are mostly still <v Speaker 2>playing at home, that's when you plug in and it's <v Speaker 2>just kind of play on the couch, all comfy and cozy. <v Speaker 1>That's a good way to use that thing. I'm finishing <v Speaker 1>up right now. All right. <v Speaker 2>Uh, we got a new poll question coming in a <v Speaker 2>second before we get to that, though, Lucy James, why <v Speaker 2>don't you tell people where they could find you on <v Speaker 2>the internet what you have going on? <v Speaker 1>All that good stuff. <v Speaker 3>Oh you can find me in about three hours. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's that sounds right, three hours for Blake Clubs Club. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, very pet I will be suiting up once again <v Speaker 3>and going back to the where is. <v Speaker 1>It Skull Island? <v Speaker 2>Rise of Gong shitby Baby Skull Island. <v Speaker 3>Baby Skull Island, that's where we're going, Baby back. <v Speaker 4>To Baby Skull Island in the meantime, Yeah, Lucy James, <v Speaker 4>games everywhere the thing is is that like I'm on Twitter, <v Speaker 4>is there does anyone know of a script or something <v Speaker 4>that if I just post something it goes to Twitter, <v Speaker 4>Blue Sky and Threads because I'm sorry, I'm not copy <v Speaker 4>pasted and doing all apples. <v Speaker 2>Shit, there's probably that one that includes Twitter because they're <v Speaker 2>forty thousand dollars a month. <v Speaker 1>API bullshit. <v Speaker 3>Oh but threads and I don't know. I keep forgetting <v Speaker 3>that I have Blue Scott. I'm big, I'm big on threads. <v Speaker 3>I enjoy, Yeah, I enjoy. <v Speaker 2>I tried threads for a while, and uh, I don't. <v Speaker 2>I don't think I like the people on threads. <v Speaker 4>It's so that's where it's like, it's people who followed <v Speaker 4>me on Instagram. So I already know that they'll oobungus, <v Speaker 4>thank you very much. <v Speaker 1>People that follow the people on Instagram. <v Speaker 2>I have a certain lack of humor that is driving <v Speaker 2>me crazy on threads, and so I'm like, are all <v Speaker 2>like pretty like these are the early Twitter people. <v Speaker 1>This is fine. <v Speaker 4>That's the thing where it's like, I don't I don't <v Speaker 4>go on the tab the the for you tab a. <v Speaker 4>It's all engagement, gape, engagement bait bullshit. However, it's just <v Speaker 4>like a lot of people that I've already followed in. <v Speaker 1>It's just the replies I'll do. <v Speaker 2>I'll pay to be fair and always be clothings, right. <v Speaker 2>I only post my worst jokes on threads, and so <v Speaker 2>the replies that are always lacking. <v Speaker 1>For the most part, let's less I know yet unless <v Speaker 1>we're mutuals and then that's fine. But blue Sky's been nice. Uh. <v Speaker 2>I was like I had given up on blue Sky, <v Speaker 2>and now everyone's trying it again. So I'm like, I'll <v Speaker 2>give that another shot, and now I'm trying to default <v Speaker 2>to that. I it's never like an active thing me <v Speaker 2>checking Twitter. It's a compulsion. It's where my brain goes <v Speaker 2>when it has like exhaustiums. It needs to send off, <v Speaker 2>Like I don't want to think about these things anymore, <v Speaker 2>so I'll just put them on Twitter and let other <v Speaker 2>people deal with it. And I'm trying to like put <v Speaker 2>Bluesky into that position. It's difficult to break happy. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I need. <v Speaker 1>All right, New Pole question, did you play Prince of <v Speaker 1>Persia The Lost Ground? Yes or no? <v Speaker 2>You will be judged for your answer. We'll discuss that <v Speaker 2>one game this morning's here on giant Bomb tomorrow. Speaking <v Speaker 2>a Giant Bomb tomorrow, Jimm back again. Jan should be <v Speaker 2>on the show. Should be a good one. <v Speaker 1>Look out for that. <v Speaker 2>As Lucy mentioned, we have Blake Club today. I will <v Speaker 2>do a Ghost and Grublins here in a little bit. <v Speaker 2>Try to start here pretty soon. The kiddo needs some <v Speaker 2>help with some stuff though, so probably do probably. <v Speaker 1>Like maybe twelve thirty maybe one pm Eastern time. <v Speaker 2>We'll see, but I'll try to start as soon as <v Speaker 2>I can so we can get a good amount of <v Speaker 2>games in there before I have. <v Speaker 1>A And then what else is happening tomorrow? <v Speaker 2>Like I said, games mornings, we'll have voicemail dump truck, <v Speaker 2>We'll have a Connectivity compadres. We're gonna play Echo Point Nova, <v Speaker 2>so look out for that. It's it's gonna be a <v Speaker 2>fun week. And then of course the Astro Invitational returns <v Speaker 2>on Friday for UPF. <v Speaker 4>Who I'm gonna I'm just gonna be hanging out. I'm <v Speaker 4>not playing, obviously, But who is going to be on <v Speaker 4>the Invitational? <v Speaker 2>I think so it'll be the same cruise last week. <v Speaker 2>And then I think we are inviting in. We invited <v Speaker 2>Jordan Midler. I'm not sure if he'll be able to <v Speaker 2>make it. <v Speaker 4>I'm gonna I'm gonna send him a polite message, Okay, <v Speaker 4>definitely not full of abuse. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, thank you appreciate that. <v Speaker 4>Uh. <v Speaker 2>And then uh, Mike is going to participate because I <v Speaker 2>had to. I had to apologize him for going along <v Speaker 2>with Dan's joke that Dan's time was faster than. <v Speaker 1>Mike's and he did not appreciate that. <v Speaker 2>But the apology has been issued, and Mike says he <v Speaker 2>will compete again. <v Speaker 1>So that's good. That's good news for all of us. <v Speaker 2>All right, let's see here. I think let's finish things up. Lucy, <v Speaker 2>thank you so much for hanging out with today and <v Speaker 2>talking about video games. <v Speaker 1>I really appreciate it, of course, thanks for having. <v Speaker 2>Me absolutely well. Hope hopefully we could do it again <v Speaker 2>next week. Thank you everybody for listening and watching. You're <v Speaker 2>the best audience in gaming. Until next time, have a <v Speaker 2>good one, take care of yourself, and goodbye.
