So I see you're also traveling with your son. What boy prison are you taking him to? Actually, Justin and I are going to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Sir Peter Hall himself is directing. See Bart, I told you think it could be worse. I'm giving a sweatshirt with Shakespeare's face on it. Well, we better get back to the prious son. Don't forget the menu for a scrap book. Four Finger Discount, dude, welcome to Fourfinger Discount. The podcasts that are certainly fourth bus. This week we are HiT's a review episode h ab F zero four. It is where on the Road to do Well. I'm gy and I'm also very impressed by Dando's delightful dulcet tones. Is wonderful singing voice. You have to listeners, you have to tolerate me breaking into song occasionally, and I'm amazed that you so so many of you remain tuned in during that time. But yeah, Dano doesn't break into song often enough, and I think you'll agree you should do it more often. You know what's funny is you and I we have our little creative outlets that we've we've worked on things over the years, but we've never really whether it be shown it to anybody or finished it. And when I was a teenager, got the guitar, and I used to love writing songs. And I've found an old laptop in the drawer you got through the drawers here in the studio. The other day I found an old laptop that had all the songs that I've sort of recorded straight into my laptop mic when I was like nineteen eighteen years old. I'm like, some of these have I tweaked them a little bit, are actually pretty good. But I'm also just like, but I'm embarrassed to show them anybody, But like I genuinely think that some of them are okay. Like I think, maybe, well I'll have to do one day is finish off those things we call them with the prople of mics here and maybe thrown out to the patrons and see what they think. In my way of eighteen year old Dando's songwriting, I think you should absolutely do that. Yeah, I mean, the thing is the most that can happen is there to say it's ship And I'm like, yeah, well whatever, but you know, but yeah, they didn't be the worst thing that could happen. How how is. How is your weekend? How's you eat been? My weekend was very nice. Actually there was a little bit of business that Again, I know we're being very kind of we're being teasers and saying there are big things afoot at the four Finger discount network, But there was a little bit of business going on, but also a lot of just leisure. I was hanging out with the lovely Louise. We had a really nice weekend, just you know, just very chill um, but just felt very shall we say connected. It's lovely. It's just good, just good to hang out. In regards to those teasers, when are you announcing your only fans accountant? I know I should really start charging for a giving that. I'm you know, throwing out semi nude picks all the time on social media exactly right? Or you're only sending them to me? Do you think you said to everybody to send them to me? I thought I was the exclusivity, exclusivity of them. Oh, you gotta share it, or you gotta share the love. Well, it's planning to share it, isn't there? Oh? Unfortunately too much to share? Oh no, I'm talking about down there? Oh I thought you were talking about just everywhere. Very sweet of you to say so, and wholly inaccurate. We're here to discuss that we're on the road to doughwear. Such a bizarre episode and that there was to me so much filler but had no resolution. I was like, this episode had no ending, but there were so many scenes that just seemed to go on forever. I'm like, you're clearly filling time. You couldn't think of an ending. You were one hundred and fifty percent right in saying so. I mean, yeah, there's at least two opportunities, at least two moments in this episode where I'm like, Okay, is this filler or are they going for that whole cape for your rake gag stand less extent? Yeah, where you know it does the whole three sixty of like, Okay, this was funny, Now this is not funny. It's so unfunny. It's gone back to being funny. And then it became unfunny game because it went so long. That's the thing. It did it at least twice moments. I've got it didn't even do a three. It didn't even do a three sixty. It did hands to do some maths, yet it did like, hey, what's three sixty plus one eighty? It did a five twenty? It did I think it's five forties and it did a five forty. I only know that because a five forty splash and wrestlings when they do like a fourthom assault and then landing on their stomach. That's any RESU five forty wrestling home my maths and your teachers will saying, Dando, stop watching that wrestling. You know you should be paying attention to me, your maths teacher. It's like, why, why is your why is your math teacher snagglepus exit stage left, exited your next class? So, but yeah, it did, it did a five, It did a five forty. I mean, and it did that on least two occasions. Or the Flanders moment was one where he kept singing. You had the car scene with them with the exits Homer and Bart where he's going where he's touching the car and Homer say I'm gonna get you. No, I'm not, I'm gonna get to another one then stop the steam montage where it was just different elements of the school being affected by the steam. I was just like, there's probably too too many here. It didn't need this many, so there's just lots of filler. But and even another thing. We had the full intro as well, so they literally wasted like a minute and twenty five seconds just the intro. I'm like, so you thought you run out of time? But why did you not have an I said, this is what I did, right, So what I thought was all right, how could you have wrapped this episode up? And this is how Dando would have handled this episode? And I came up with this in honest to god, I reckoned twenty seconds. Right, you have home Room Bart, Right, but Mos announced he's taking the guys to Vegas. Right, that's a fun episode in itself. That should have been right. Homer says they're gonna take Bart to the airport. He drops him off at the front, says, can I trust your boy to go inside? Of course you can, Dad. He somehow sneaks into the trunk of the car. Homer then takes Bart to the bus. He somehow sneaks on the bus, ends up in Vegas with Home Room whatever, blah blah blah, shenandigans but they don't know Barts. They're Barts off gambling or it does whatever makes a bunch of money. Meanwhile, you have the yard sales storyline, the b plot Margins are getting taken to prison, she needs but uses his winnings to get Marge at a jail, and a story. Everything's back to full circle. Marge is angry at Bart, but you know in this in the end, it all worked out because here able to get ahead Bay our money, Agins and Las Vegas with Bart, Homer and the guys. I thought that'd be far more enjoyable. Everything tied up in a nice, neat little bow. Yeah, I mean, look, we can finesse that a little bit, certainly, but yeah, I think that's much better than what we got, which was a jumble. Yeah, this episode was a mess. I mean it wasn't necessarily I mean, it wasn't bad so much. I mean there, I think there are lots of parts of it that worked fine, but they were really sort of individual bits and pieces started throughout. This had faulty structure, but good decorating, if you know what I mean. I like a story of Homer and Bart bonding that that was good in hand. Homer sort of realized, I wait a minute, I miss Bart. I enjoy having Bart around. But there was just too much randomness just thrown in between. This just it didn't feel like it was flowing very well at all. And like you just said, it's just a bunch of random shit ap me all the time. It's just a bunch of stuff that happened, as we like to say. Yeah, but and I think, yeah, that that core idea of MM I like what makes bart bars and you know what, not wanting to sacrifice that in order to get him to be on the straight and narrow. I don't know, I think that's an interesting idea and one that you should that you should explore, a one that you can explore. I don't think it was done all that well in this in this particular episode, they sort of they paid lip service to it certainly, but it didn't really resolve itself all that well. And so this felt so as higgledy piggledy. Yeah, it's like, hey, you're sort of on the right track. Oh no, you've you've taken a weird u turn or you've made an off ramp and now what's going on? And you know, lapses in intelligence and lapses in character just an an old, an odd episode. I mean, and you know, after the high points we've enjoyed in the last couple of episodes of season seventeen, So I'm you've sort of you've fallen off track a little bit. Here was just sort of just like good, good premise, and but I just think that the focus was just put on the wrong things. The focus needed to be more on. I just think there's so much fun to be had with the guys in Las Vegas. Grand You've already had home in Flanders in Las Vegas, but I think Bart getting up to Shenanigan's in Las Vegas by getting there via the bus would have been so much more fun. It's kind of like Bart on the Road kind of style. And then Mar just like, you know, she's furious that you know, Bart's in prison, but then she ends up in Vegas doing doing naughty shit. But then in turns she gets sent to prison, and then Bart has to use his money that he makes from being in Las Vegas somehow has some winnings. Is at the bailout of prison. I thought that'd be a fun way to sort of bring it all full circle and connect the dots, because you just get to the end and it's like you clearly just had no idea where to go with this. But yeah, yeah, but you had probably you could have literally taken out like five minutes of the ship in this episode, like for example, for in my opinion, you could have just ended that steam moment of all the steam going off for us skin of being chased by all the bolts that are exploding him screaming steam with the steam chasing him in the background, and it just cut to the school or fucked up. I don't need all the other montage bits, that's true. I mean the stuff in the music room with Largo and you know, capella because the yeah, because the instruments are all rusted, and you know, and yet another dumb Ralph gag and Ralph was reaching sicho mel proportions at this stage or um. Yeah, there was a lot, just it was so all over the shop and it wasn't so much annoying as it was frustrating. It's like, just we can pull some of these together and you know, just tighten it up a bit. This episode would I wouldn't say it to be like a classic or anything like that, but it certainly be better than it was. It just felt so loose, but like a loose unit. It just kind of felt like, right, we've got an extra episode to fill in for this season, Let's get a couple of stories that we can't quite finess through for a full twenty and sort of jammed them in there with a bunch of other ship and just to me, like at the end, I was like, it was fine, but it just yeah, it just feels like it didn't reach its potential. That's all. Yeah, that's I sort of walked away a little more I would say, angry, but just kind of what it's sort of bit bemused, a little a little frustrated as opposed to well that sucked. Yeah, not quite guys. Plus, I think I've just got to a big issue with I don't think Marge would be that dumb to sell used, you know, painkillers, especially see the thing is you had Snake pointed out to her that it's illegal. I think Marge. I could buy Marge being oblivious to the fact that what she's doing was illegal. She's just selling expired drugs, right, But when it's when I can't buy Marge deliberately selling illegal shit. I just that's just not the Marge. That there's just something that there's not something Marge would do. It's not something Lisa would be down with either, you know, so yeah, I don't know, or even if you have, Marge sort of, I don't know. I'll be willing to go with it. I'm willing to go with that for the sake of them because it was kind of a fun little I like a good yard sale, like that story had potential, but it reminded me it was actually quite similar to the were you doing the show when we did the super Bowl episode with Vincent Price and Marginal List are painting eggs. Now there might be season nine. Actually I don't think I was on board for that. Okay, Yeah, that's where they go to the super Bowl and Dolly Parton's there in the Snoopy alf at things like that. So the guys will go to the super Bowl and marginally left at home board thinking of things to do, and they start playing board games and painting eggs by Vincent Price and things like that. It felt like this episode, this felt very very similar. It's just there wasn't much to it. Yeah, I love the idea of a yard sale as kind of a remember when the episode it's it's a really good framework for a Hey, remember when this happened, you know, and Homer's barbershop quartet essentially. Yeah, yeah, that's basically what that is. I just the opening act was just it was such a long winded opening act to get to Bart's just in trouble again. Look like there was just such a long went for ages and it was like, so the whole steam thing doesn't actually come into the story at all. It's just Bart's ruined the school again. So Skinner wants to send him to like a school, like a camp. It's like a boot camp. You could have fucking done that in like thirty seconds. It didn't need the steamship anyway. Hey, my favorite did you have any favorite moments from the episode? My favorite moments, and there weren't many from this episode, but they were primarily lennybody Vegas for partially risquing. He's so proud of that. Yeah, turning Vegas or Bust into Vegas for bust. Get some pretty good word play on the part of Lenny. Well done to you, sir. Congratulations. Maybe he's the one fully around with the church's sign, not Nelson. Oh maybe a very nice conspiracy theory he actually um, but also just the when he's on the other end of the line with Homer, and I just thought that line was quite I can't talk now, Homer. I'm sat. I'm just satisfied in every way. Imagine being in that moment, like you're just satisfied in every way possible would be the greatest. I mean, he's fucking riding a roller coaster with showgirls and an Elephant's pretty awesome. That's not too bad. Yeah, he's eating the jackpot metaphorically and literally, and so yeah, I think that were my favorite moments from this episode. How about you, Danna, I like a good driving through a birthplace gag. I liked the mac graining, except he says Matt groaning in here. I'm yeah, I was curious about that if that was like a deliberate you know, people mispronounced this all the time, or they're taking a bit of a swipe at their feeler's leader or something like that. Yeah, what was an Oregon birthplace of Matt groaning? And um, yeah, when they well, yeah, they're a few swipes at Matt this episode when they just destroy his house yet his birthplace, Yeah, he's going, by the way. The writer of this episode, Kevin Curran, who unfortunate passed away in twenty sixteen. I never realized he was the one of the producers of Mad Children and he was the voice of Buck the dog for real. Yeah, that and then and then it was for a while before his death. Obviously, you're like, I think it was like late two thousands. He was, he was dating Helen Fielding and he had two children. Though, well, that sounds like a life well lived. Yeah, short, unfortunately, but well under you I mean this episode not so much, but certainly married with children and your marriage and parenthood. Yes, sounds lovely. Any more brain Busters? Brain Buster? The time is the Davis, I'm gonna read at the time. I'm not gonna I'm gonna read out the date, and I'm gonna give you clue show away. I've got clues here waiting for me. It's gonna see if you can sort of just throw what to have one guess of what might be in the top three. You don't think get all of just guess one. Right, So it's January twenty ninth in two thousand and six, think of really, really really early two thousand and six. So if you can think of anything that might have been in the top three, any ideas I've got no idea. And I was talking about this with Lou on the weekend because you know, we both realize time's getting away from us. Well it's fun times. At the when Guy and Lou together was basically we're getting old. This sucks and well, Nicola and I were driving up to Melbourne to see Fairwell one of our friends. Shout out to Matt Blonde, one of my lifelong friends. He's going to America for work for three years. But we're driving Melbourn. Let's put some nineties bangers on and put this song on. Nicola put that on that All Saints Never Ever song one. Right, I'm like, that song came out twenty seven years ago? Are you kidding me? Like, holy shit, it's literally like a lifetime like what's going on here? But anyway, continue, Yeah, you and low Hut. I'd say, I don't know if it's you know, my grumpy old man pants slash hat or you know the cultural desert that was the two thousands. It's like if you said, I can't tell the difference when something that came out in two thousand and six and twenty sixteen, and particularly sort of thinking about you know, the mid to late two thousands, Like, I think this might be a bit of a cultural desert. I lost touch with pop culture. I think I m about twenty ten. I remember at twenty ten, I was just like anything after twenty ten just happened yesterday to me. I just can't tell the difference. Yeah, that's it. Yeah, I'm not sure exactly. So, Yeah, the blockbuster Brainbuster is very much busting my brain. I'll give you some clues in let's here you go, thank you. So. Number one the clue is doubt fire. Number two the clue is Dresser, and number three the clue is Jacob. Okay, you like you know, I like to be pretty pretty. That's that's quite obscure clue. But let me try and break it down a bit. Well, if we're talking dad fire, we're either talking Robin Williams, maybe Sally Field or his pros, or we're talking drag and again the Feldly we might be talking drag, yes, yeah, correct, we might be talking yes. And I'm wondering what sort of came out around too. Well. Other prominent drag of the of the two thousands, and the one that sort of leaps to mind the most is probably um, I was better King of the saucy Martin Lawrence. He said something rather saucy. He did the Big Mama's House movies more than one? Yeah, that three of them. I think there might have been. I'm wondering if he was in the third, or if he sort of passed it over to some young up and comer Wayne's brother. Probably, Um, it could be. It could be. It could be another person in drag or people in drag. That's true. It could be. You could be talking about white chicks. Could be, but I don't think you are. I think you might be talking about Big Mama's House. I am correct, Big Mama's House number two in fact, Oh is it Big Mama's House two? Yes? Okay? Then sorry the second one? Who second clue dresser? Well, are we back with Beautician and the Beast? Or no? No? So think of who she was? Oh, she was the nanny named Fran Yes, okay. Then something to do with nanny's is it? Is it term? The Scarlett Johansson Chris Evans movie The Nanny The Nanny Diaries. No, No, it's not. It's it's stars Emma, Oh it stars Emma Thompson. Yes, I was gonna say I always say the full name is Emma. Um. That was Nanny McPhee. It was a film that I've never seen never, I don't think I have ever, but I remember the post. Yeah, I remember the poster, which I think was was Nannie McFee. She was a silhouette. She might have been coming ugly got Mary Poppins, Poppins, what is this? Yeah, I think she was like an ugly Mary Poppins. And then but she her not good looks, you know, gave the kids a lesson about don't be judging a book by its cover or something like that. Maybe I'm completely mistaken, but Nanny McPhee, I think is the one you're talking about. And the third was Jacob and what was Jacob? Gave the most popular Jacob of the two thousands when it comes to film characters. Oh my god, he's played by Taylor Oh um, Taylor Lawtner. Yes, yeah, so Twilight he was what in Twilight? He was aware Wolf. There's a movie about werewolves. It was a werewolf movie, part of a series, not the first one I was gonna. I was gonna say American Werewolf in Paris, but that was much earlier. Yeah, no, it's um think of it's not a owling. I'll just I'll give you what the second part's called evolution. Oh oh yeah, that's um, that's Underworld Evolution. They used to see them and go, I don't know about these. I never bothered to watch them. Are they worth watching? The Underworld films? You think they'd be movies that I would like because it's essentially vampires versus wear wolf. It looks like Blade Yeah yeah, in sort of a Blade slash Matrix world. I mean, it really is just a blender of all those things. And I remember watching the first one go oh cool, vampires versus wheels. Hey, wait a minute, this is really slow and dull and takes itself way too seriously, and I think Underworld Evolution actually does pretty much the same thing. Fortunately if you're if you're a man of dubious taste like me, The next two in the series, the third and fourth, really sort of steer into the pulpiness and just get a bit gross and dumb and silly, which is you know what you what do you want from you? Vampire versus will movies. So I cannot, in good conscience recommend Underworld Evolution, but check out Underworld Rise of the Lichens and Underworld Awakening. Well, I know they're out there. There go tell us, tell us your thoughts on the Underworld French yet well that is the Yeah, that is the top three of the US box office at the time. My brain, Big Mama's House to Nanny McPhee and Underworld Evolution. I feel like you do a lot better when it comes to them, like the nineties shows that we're doing, like Speaking of the Hill and South Park was like nineties. I can tell you what mother Song came out, But when it comes to like two thousand and six and I don't know, next question you there eating the past. It's time for some trivia, mister Davis. But before then, we're going to read out the names of some beloved patrons of people who support us on this point here, starting with that man Alliott J. O'Neill from which podcast, mister Davis. But he's on The Simpsons in next while. He's almost he runs it. He's the man he's the Index captain and apologies to his co host, but he's going to be joining us family on this particular podcast to talk about which episode is that one? That's fantastic. Oho, I'm partial to Schnitzel. And also, you know the person naming themselves Schnitzel, I think that's pretty good too. All right, so time now for some trivia, mister Davis. What's your most question for we're on the road to do where what was a fine year for Camrays or ninety five? That is correct? What room was the controller staying in? You're talking about controller Atkins. He was in room five h two. Yeah, he's a callback from which episode was it where that's that's where Lisa gets stump a lying, Yeah, when she's playing the dasht ye. Yeah. Yeah, that's when he made his debut. Yeah. Your next question, well, in that case, which room was charmers in? Oh? Three three one eighth three something eight three something? You were so close? What is it? Three eight one very one? Damn? There was a three in There was an eight in there somewhere I couldn't quite and there was a one in there as well. Yeah, so you've got him, but you just jumbled him up a little bit. That's it happens. It happens. What does home always do? His book report on Stuart Little, that cute little mouse. I remember going to the movies to see Stuart Little, and I've never seen it since, but he was he was all the raged for a little while there, A little Stuart Little, wasn't he? Stuart Little got a sequel? He did do it? Little too? Was in Europe European Adventure or something so something like that. When it was allays fouls go to Europe. They even did. It was a spider man, that's correct. Yeah, I'm always curious about the just the mechanics though. Stuart Little. I mean, here's a because they did adopt Stewart Little, didn't they. I mean she actually gave birth to no, to a mouse. No, no, no, she they adopted it. They just didn't get back to a house. Really, okay, he was He was at the orphanage and nobody wanted him, so they took him because he was the human mother did not give birth to a mouse. She's looking at doctor house going, what the hell's going on here? Who was the It was Michael J. Fox, wasn't it? Michael J. Fox was in the the voice of Stuart Little. I don't think it gets any more wholesome than Michael J. Fox. You know, if you're thinking of who's in a voice his wholesome little mouse, Michael J. Fox is your man. You wanted to be wholesome, but you wanted to be full of pep and energy. Yeah, that was such a shame woul happening here. I saw a recent interview where he's really struggling out with his Parkinson's and it's like, man, it's just like it's just such a shame because this seems like such unlovely person. Absolutely, yeah, so no, I saw that on the weekend. Yeah, they there was an interview on US TV with him, and they of course shouted on Australian Australian news as well. And good for him, like he's going out and he's he's promoting Parkinson's and getting the word about and like he's such a strong person for doing so. Oh yeah, one hundred percent. Just a tireless advocate for uh, you know, for research and hope hoping to find a cure. And you have more power to him. I mean, yeah, I've got utmost respect for a man, Michael J. And what's your next question? My next question to you is when bart is flying to Atlanta, what seat is he in? Thirty three C? Three to three C. Indeed, yes, a lot of number questions. Were they flying to it? Either going to land in Atlanta? When where they go back to? Where? Though? Minneapolis? Because I've got I've got here in my answers, in my tribute questions, all of it is Minneapolis. Minneapolis, right, I've always struggled to say that word Minneapolis. And because you read it like an English word. It should be Minneapolis. I don't know. I struggled to say anyway, you said it right, just there, right Minneapolis. I've got that as just one word in my trivia questions. I'm playing Jeopardy again. I'm like, what the fuck was? And then you asked, that's what it was, Minneapolis, Home of Prince. The original air day of Where on the Road to Doware was January twenty ninth, two thousand and six. It was written by Kevin Curran and directed by Nancy Cruz. The chopboard gag Teacher was not dumped. It was mutual. I'm sorry for missus Kane, missus Kay. What do you do? Don't don't doubt missus Ka. She's a catch. Yeah, you're not gonna do better, that's anymore? What are you talking about? I mean everyone's already caught her before, but that doesn't matter. The tastiest fish always gets caught. Yeah, and then that sounds all wrong. Yeah. The couch gag is a parody of Bonanza. I'm wondering, even at two thousand and six, how many symptoms? Who was gone? What is this? I mean Banza gag? You know what episode was it that we did a flashback one and now at the mall and there's Bonanza at the start. Remember there was the banana. Yeah, what episode was that? Weren't there three Indians last year's much? That's right? Oh, it's when Homer gets the it's the Homer they fall because that's where they go to the store and um, Hommer looks at the World's Greatest jacket. Oh, that's right. But I mean not to keep turning this into an episode of I Remembers you when. But I mean when I was growing up, Bonanza was almost Yeah, it was on in the afternoon and it was reruns, and it was like even then, I was like, this is an old show, this is this is not fresh material. Yeah, but the thing is Bananza. I think the Simpsons only recently just broke the Bananza records. So bands will always have its place in pop culture or just TV history because it was one of the longest running shows of all time. I thought that was gun Smoke. Oh maybe it was gone. Maybe I'm getting both confused. How do Bonanza go for? Then? I think Bonanza went for a while, and of course it's got that done Little Bonanza, which is a good funny theme song. Yeah, yeah, so maybe that's it. But I'm just wondering, if you know, kids are sitting in front of their not quite flat screen TV's in two thousand and six, going what's this about? What's this a reference to? Four? And it's not working fast enough for me to sort of look it up. Four hundred and thirty two episodes is what Bonanza went for, and gun Smoke went for twenty seasons and how many episodes was that? Four hundred and eighty so pretty close for thirty two and four eighty sooth both okay, but like both iconic in their own in their own respect, Oh very much. Yeah, yeah, but you are right, it is a dated reference. Even in two thousand and six, it was a dated reference. But I think enough people have at least heard the song before and know what was going on. True. Yeah, but uh so, Yeah, as I was saying, we got them the full it was nice. It's kind of nostalgiic, you know, a bit of a nostalgia theme in this episode's kind of started. Just seeing the full intro. I was like, we don't get this very often anymore. The chopboard gag, full intro. Long couch goes like this, this was nice, enjoy it. Why you got it? Yeah, but then enters Skinner's office. Before then he sees Myra, the assistant. I'm like, who who is Myra? Who is this is? Where? Where did this room come from? Just added an assistant to Principal Ski. She's obviously been away for a while. He's like, oh, it's good to see you back. But I'm like, yeah, but she hasn't been missing for seventeen seasons, Like you've just added a character that doesn't. Yeah, just to have this sort of no Madman esque a gag of you know, flirting with the secretary or something like that, which, ye, look I'm going to be a bit of a chump for that kind of that bumm. He told me he was getting a divorce. That always tickles me for some reason, that kind of thing, you know, just bom bom, that's frank good that bom. Yeah, yes, she's leaving her husband the bum And Skinner is outside admiring he's ninety five camera, which has been spending I think it was three months in a lake or something? He says, yeah, correct, That was going to be one of my trivia questions. How many? How many months in a lake? Three months in a lake? And Bart then decides takes advantage of this situation. He starts going through his desk through the office. Have you ever been in a situation where you've been in someone's office or a room where you're like, no one's around. I probably could get away with rummaging through some stuff and just being a bit of a sneak, But should I Yeah, I'm pretty sure I have done this exactly. When I'm not sure, I mean, I probably suppressed that memory because I like to regard myself as a good person and not a snoop. But I'm also a human being, and human beings liked a snoop, don't they. Yeah, It's like, as Alfred Hitchcock says, there's nothing more scary than an unopened door. There's nothing more exciting than an unopened draw. But if I it's the diary, the dance tape of love, the dance tape, just the image on the front. And then he finds the keys to the steam tunnels, and thank you Satan. Just think, no house from now on will always be those kids who got into the steam tunnels. I love the idea of being remembered for something. I'm remembered for something that I'm not allowed to really sound this show because it was cold, that was illegal, It was illegal. I don't want to get anybody in trouble, but so let's just say I had a good night on my graduation. Um, I got taught a lot of things on graduation night. Continue, patrons, if you want to know more, If if you want to know more about this, become a patron And it was funny because like years later like Stacy must bring your friends off, like are you the guy that? And I'm like yeah, like wow, I'm like wow, my legends lived on. But but yeah, so when when they go into the into the tunnels, it reminds me of um at four and used to work at four. We had the basement, right, and he's scrap shoots down there. So basically the machines I went to the stamping plant and the machines that the flat metal, the flat sheet metal would go through, the presses would press it, and the trimmings would fall down these scrap shoots and go into conveyor belts that would eventually end up in a big sort of like it can pack them up into a compactor. But it's over, like the Christmas shutdowns, or it's just there was a night shift. There'll be a guy that used to work downstairs the US. What used to call him, I just have really good troll. I really mean mean like not got to rap, but something like that, right, because he just you know, he'd arrive at like eleven thirty at night and you wouldn't talk to anybody and you just sort of head downstairs and you'd live in the basement, and like some of the ship used to find down stander the basement, like mattresses where people used to go down and root on their lunch break and stuff like that back in the eighties. It's like it's like and it's all untouched. It's just it's just like the Fine eighty five. But things like like calendars on the walls and ship and I'm just like Jesus Christ, but like that that image of them going to the steams just mnd me of going down into the into the basement because sometimes I'd help out over the Christmas break to clean it out. You do clean up over the Christmas break, And yeah, there was, um, it was a strange time back that well, I used to get home. If I used to work that shift at Ford, I'll be getting double time and a half for the first four hours and it was like triple time thereafter. It was like it was crazy money. But like I just look back now, I think I used to really work for my money because it was fucking hard work. You have to like get the shovel and it's have to like clean out all this all the little scraps that would fall out off the conveyor belt and sort of pile up on the floor. And of course they're mixed with oil and ship so they're really sticky and thick and sludgy. You just have to get shovel like listen up and chuck it back onto the conveyor belt. It was hard work. Oh man, no got old man hands now. But anyway, and of course that's where people went dam sets exactly exactly right. The stories I could tell you at four Man, I won't get into them here, but man, it's crazy and they don't mind though, but our mealhouse doesn't mind getting into trouble because it's a form of attention. This is my coming up soon. I'm going to discuss with you as well about Millhouse and his parents. Mo has rented a party bus he's taken up to Vegas because he's won a lawsuit against the rope company after a failed suicide attempt, which I thought it checks out. It's it's very on brand for Mo. Plus they gave him a replacement robe. Hey, nice robe. Hang a cow with that thing. So they're now looking through the crack and oh Dad gave me a long talk about this. But until you see I can't really believe it. You think, of course it's girls, but no, it's the cafe or the school cafeteria, loading dock having pizza tomorrow Gray d frozen pizza and I forgot. Yes, a Millhouse says, now we'll leave that. Touching a valve. What a tail that'll be. Obviously they don't do that. They touch a valve and sets off this big chain chain effects that are just which I thought, which I thought was a very nice visual. Yeah, looks it looks really cool actually, and the skin is walking down the hallway, it's weird. Usually only turned the on Parents' night. And then I thought the getaway he was actually kind of cool. It's kind of like Indiana Jones kind of vibes where he's running away from the ship shooting all this screws firing at him. Absolutely, yeah, he say what the f minus screams out steam. The one bit of the montage that I did enjoy was I enjoyed Martin's hair going off frizzy. Yes, that was good. Yeah, and I didn't mind the fogg to section actually reminded me of of et the Fogg dis Section. Whether the fogs all go crazy because Eliot lets them all loose, and then we get the instruments getting rusty, and the guy Capella and two kinds of wet in my pants, and then Willie's drinks the steam from the fountain and the soda machine. Was like, ah again another gag. That's just yeah, we got it. We got it twice the first time. It's like, Okay, the school's being ruined. Don't need it. Just felt like I was adding an extraally thirty seconds of unnecessary Philly here. But the school is now destroyed by the way that that et science lab segment. Do you know who who played the teacher in that? Of course you do, either principle not the teacher, I mean pretty been Harrison Ford. I do mean Harrison We don't He played the principle, which was from a deleted scene. That's why he's not in the movie. Correct. Yeah, yeah, pretty cool. It's like you actually can watch the deleted scene I think, like from The David or the Blue Rays or whatever, and it's surprising why they cut that out, like you think distract Yeah, it might be a bit too distracting. I think they wanted to rest on ets little shoulders, that's true. Yeah, and um, but The other thing too, is as one of those moments where you know, sometimes come across things in life and you think you know something, You've watched it like thirty times, and you discover something new about and you're like, wow, that's really exciting. So like Et, it's no secret ET is my favorite movie. And I got the soundtrack. Mom bought me the soundtrack score on it was like the twenty th anniversary one of forty anniversary one a couple of years ago, and I'm listening to it on the record player here and it comes a piece of music and I've got the old soundtrack and this was like the extended version, but I've heard it. Basically, it was just the movie directly, the music directly from the movie. But then there was a bit of music. I was like, I never heard this before. The fuck is this? I'm like, what is this music? I've grabbed a cover I looked on the back and it was the music from the deleted Steven Harrison Ford and he goes for like a minute or so, but it was like so exciting. I was like, shit, it's like finding hidden treasure for an et Van, you know what I mean? No, No, that's that's great when something that happens. I mean, particularly you say you've got a favorite movie and you get it on like Blu ray or something, and you've only ever watching on VHS, for instance. Yeah, and all of a sudden, you wait a minute, there's something in the in the corner of the frame there that I've never noticed before. I mean, yeah, I remember seeing that in some horror movie that I really liked, and I only ever seen it on like crappy bootlegs or something like that. And finally a really pristine version came out, and yeah, that's exactly what happened. There's a scene where the main actions sort of going on in the center, but you look over the course it's like, oh oh hey, and it adds a whole new dimension to the scene. It's fantastic. People and you tell people. Most people that the nerd, but I'm like, no, it was. It was exciting for me. Oh yeah, I'm actually picturing you. It was like it didn't mean tears my eye, but it like maybe feel a special. I was like, this is this is love? Like it's like just going hidden treasure. Like I said, I couldn't believe it. I'm just imagining sort of like this listening to a go oh this is lovely? What the fuck going on? I was like, is this? What is it? I got? I was like, hang on, what's going on here? You're like Jack Skeleton, what's this? What's this? But getting back to the episode, of course, yeah, you were talking about the extended montage, but the school is now destroyed. Skinner says, who could this be a millhouse? And but come out laughing and he says, don't worry, you can't get away. I've got you by your scruff, but then offers up millhouse. I'll give you meal house. Don't bother struggling, I've got your scruff. Did I get a deal? I'll give you a mill house. I don't want mill house. Sounds like my parents custody hearing. I'm like, are they not together again? Because last time we saw them they were together and she found the bra and that was just never following up on. I'm like, so did they break up again? Okay? You see your issue with that is picking knits in terms of continuity things like I just don't know if they're still together on well, it's not an issue, but my issue with it is like that's just an unnecessary line. It's I mean, it's it felt so like forced. Yeah, yeah, you've expected here, but yeah, at the close of that was like, yeah, just cut a I don't know. It wasn't necessary and it was kind of cheap and just a not worthy of the Simpsons, let's say, because they've already done this exact gag with nobody likes meal house. Listen, you've got the tension, so they've done that gag. You don't need to add the extra really somber layer of sounds like my parents close to the muting, it's like, now it's not funny, it's just sad. But margin Homer and now in Skinner's office and Miro no longer likes Barnt because he turned it across sandwich into a ham and cheese car crash. I thought that was a great line. I really enjoyed that I've had. Have you had moments where you've made something that you just put a lot of effidence, Like a sandwich, for example, You've got to sit down and you've like fucking spilt your drink on it or something. You're like, curious, now I'm picturing you're doing that. I've got a story for your last Thursday night, right, So I'm watching the kids and I've got left over rosotto for dinner. Well good, it's gonna be an easy night. Nicholas in Melbourne having drinks with her friends from work, so she's gonna be back a couple of hours late. The trains are fucked up at the moment, so it takes like two hours get the melbourn So Nickol's gonna get back at so it'll be all right. Easy microwave rosotto in the get the kids in bed early, be a nice, easy night. Aliot's fine because he's Bobi's sitting there. Holy. Meanwhile, I put the tray down with the bold rosotto and a little cup of a little bit of pepsi, no caffeine on the side. That's what they happened in just a tiny little cup. Put it down. Boom, fucking spills the pepsi. I'm just like Jesus, all right. So I pick it up, and she's carrying on like a peanut because it's pepsio over she puts it. She wants to sit on a blanket. She spilled pepsio over a blanket. I have to change the cover of her blanket. So from frozen one to her Moana one. I refill the pepsi up again, get the tray, put it down, Boom showed away she except this time she also spills the pepsi. I'm not just a blanket but also rosotto. I'm like deepest creepers. I'm like, I'm like Jesus Christ. And then the Pepsi's slowly trickling towards Allie on the couch and he's carrying on. It's getting closes, yeah, getting closes yet damn. I'm like, we'll just move anyway. So I wiped that up, changed the cover again to a lot of Alliott's covers, which is now Spider Man, and he's like, Dad's I'm like, it's just a cover, it'll be fine. I put it down. All is good, and then it's like that's some overing the rosutto, though Holly has taken upon herself too. She's no one going to use a tray. She's going to go sit on her chair, which has the tray like attached to it like a high chair. But she decided to climb to herself, and as she's climbing, she falls backwards and bags the head on the floor. I'm like, oh my fucking god. So I run over. I was like, I'll make it nice and like happy again. I'm holding her microwave stops, I put it down. I got open to microwave. I hear the door slam because she tried to get a new bowl out of the drawer. Bombs, she slammed her fingers in the drawer. This all happened in the space of about six minutes. Oh my god. I just could not I was like, Holly, I am three seconds from throwing you in the bin. I'm not joking. Take this one back. This one's faulty. I was just like, she's like, spilt pepsi over a blanket, and then it spilt pepsi over not just another blanket, but also rosotto, fell off a high chair and jender finger in a drawer. That is the life of a parent. It sounds like a Pink Panther movie. As just catastrophe, just one thing after another. I was like, when when she did the drawer with her finger, I was like, you actually can't be serious, Holy Like, what are you doing? Are you working with me? Anyway? It's good, it's all it's all fun and games. That was indeed a ham and cheese carkra Yeah, it was indeed. Yeah, So how we got to that, of course, it was how it got that. Yes, and Charmers is now on video uplink, which I was like, pretty good technology for a walk in fucking television screen. Where's the working that out? I don't know, so ask questions. But then controller Atkins and Charmers are having a bit of a discussion there both in Scottsdale. They're using shower caps his ice buckets and then they yell at Skinner for whatever reason. So Skinner turns them off and he says to Marge and Homer, he goes, I want to send this Bart to upward bounds and needs the pamphlet. It's going to straighten him out. And I'm like, so all of that was to get to this, Okay, it's like pretty much half my notes are about the inciting incident. Yes, this is a lot, a very long winded way to get to the story. We've already had a million times where skin in one's body get straightened out. The toughest behavioral modification camp in Northwest Oregon. It's the only place cruel enough to straighten Bart out here's a proven concept, tough hate to turn around, foul mouth duligans. Then they send them home quietly ticking away. M This camp's got it all, climbing some kind of rope thing, wearing a backpack, high fiving the black kid. It's the perfect thing. They're straighten you out. Oh got it? Now I have a ring tone my brand new cell phone, no wires at all except this one. The joke about the phone, I was like, what the hell kind of joke was this? My brand new self is? Because it's nineteen ninety five? Was it is? That? Is that? What it was? Was it? I guess you know? I mean, we've already indicated that skinn I can only afford stuff that's hopelessly out of date or yeah, whether it's a ninety five camera or just a early, early, early model mobile phone. I feel like you would have had to have paid more for that phone in two thousand and six than you would have been ninety five, because it'd be hard to find. Probably, I'm gonna remember the kind of mobile phone I had in two thousand and six. Do you do you ever keep your old mobiles or do you just throw them out or resell them or I have kept mine. I've never reselled them resell the one I currently have because I've kept it in good condition. I usually kept my phones a very quick condition, but I've kept like the screen protector on it in a good case and everything like that, so it's actually in pretty pristine condition. So I'll be able to resell this one, but not only I'll shock him in a box in the in the laundry. But of course, you've never upgraded your phone since two thousand and six, so that I think we've talked about how I've still got the Galaxy eight and we're now somewhere in the twenties. It's antique, it's work, it great, get the jo I'm done. In two thousand and six, I would have had not the thirty three fifteen, but like one of the next models up from that would have twelve. At that point, I think I had some the two thousand and six equivalent of a smartphone. They weren't really smart, but they were smart than Yeah. Yeah, I mean I've still got a couple of knockers, the brick ones. You throw them at a wall and they still work. Yeah, pretty much. I think in case of armageddon, like one still work phones anymore. No, they don't. Just you can text and you can play snake. That's all you need. Snake, literally snake. That's just the best. You were king of them. Play great if you had the best grown a snake. Yeah, but I mean others I've tended to like, oh, oh you're getting thrown out or whatever recycled. But yeah, there are one or two that I've kept. I don't know why. Yeah, they just sit there and no one wants them. That's why I guess, so, so I might as well hold onto it. But this is where the guys are getting ready to go to Vegas. Get the Vegas for bus little where I played there with Lenny. Has just got to take Bart to them to the plane before I am, so you can go to the to the camp before I can return. I'll be on my way to Las Vegas with you guys. Dad, if you take me to Vegas. How to cheat at Blackjack? Boy, you don't need to cheat when you go to system. What's your system? I don't show your mother how much I've loted. But Bart is on the no fly list. He's not Lady go because he underd his seat butt. And I was like that's not really that big of a deal. I don't think they've taken the plane around, but whatever, So I've ever told you about at the time I was on the plane the Chopper Read, No, you have not. First of all set up who Chopper Read is for those who don't know international listeners and maybe even now you know more innocent Australian listeners. Chopper Read was a career criminal. Mark Brandon Reid was his full name, but he went by the name Chopper because he chopped off his own ears to get out of to get out of prison. Yeah, which kind of full proof I think, except he went back to prison later. Was played by A Banner in a two thousand film that was pretty big. Really, it was pretty big. It made it made Eric Banner into internet from sketch comedy guy in Australia to international star of Black Hawk Down and Star Trek and other movies. And then it became that guy who was watching Saint Kilda and funny People correct, and now he's the guy who what's Eric Banner doing that? He still thank you football games. I think it's like, hey, legal celebrity, A Banner's watching the team today. It's like we see movie game. But I was on a flight. Yeah, but that's that's Chopper read for you. And he also he became one of those colorful identity users, like he's done all a matter of horrible things. But he also goes around the various nightclubs and you know, a night with Chopper, at which point he'll tell you his stories if you want to see the most confronting news stories. But ever have you seen him one with the gun? Yeah, with the Yeah he was interviewed by was that the one with Renee Brack The in was a woman? Yeah, yeah, on his part or whatever. Yeah, look that up on the on the YouTube, folks, look look look up just Chopper reading news story and he basically plays Russian roulette on camera and doesn't give the good woman an option. It's fucking crazy, it really is. So anyway, I'm on a plane back from Sydney with this guy and we land at Avalon Airport, which is that's outside Geelong, home to dandel and guy. Of course, you know you've been, folks, you've been on a plane. He has. Indeed, he died, oh god, maybe ten years ago, maybe more, No, it wasn't that long, surely. Anyway, continue, folks, we've landed in sunny downtown Geelong. Please keep your seatbelts attached until you keep this bill fastened until we reach the reach the boarding gate. And of course most people do it, or if you do it, you just sort of do it a bit. You're undo it surreptitiously and you don't make a big deal out of it. Chopper just opened his up and stood up and started getting his bags out of the overhead compartment, all of which you're not supposed to do. He just did things exactly. It's just like he's looking for trouble. He just wants he wants someone to say something. And everyone, I think everyone on the plane was of the of one thought. It's like, you tell him you're going to the camp because I'm gonna drive you there. Yeah, that'll be way more fun than Vegas. Oh dang homered coming And Nelson saw something funny. We come back from Commercial Home is now driving crazy to Oregon. We drive past the sign it says farewell from Springfield. That's like the millhouse land or something land of Millhouse, Millhouse maybe graffiti or something, I don't know. And he's looked like graffiti, but it also looked like remember the Angry Day comic that Bart Drew's kind of like that. Yes, yeah, yeah, it was either really good graffiti or really poor official signage. Yeah. So he's driving up I may never know he hates Oregon with the unspoiled for us in the birthplace of Matt Groening. And then Homer is about saying, come on, Fun Homer, you know the tealent change his mind homesas I've pushed Fun Homer away and we get a little vision inside his head. Basically, it's just that Homer's got his mindset. He's going to be getting this day. He's gonna be driving Bart too up to this camp. Here's no way he's getting out of it. Margin Lisa meanwhile preparing the yard sale, going through all the boys useless chunkers as they call it, and they find Homers all these old book reports are Stuart Little not sure why Marge with think that's actually worth anything, but maybe she's just gonna get out. They find a power point where it says like micing Car's big threat or something I don't know, and an Lisa finds all of her old Meliboue Stacey dollheads that blame bart Blade on the dog and then she apologizes the dog, and I was like, ah, I feel I can relate to this. We've all done where we've blamed the dog for something or realized it wasn't their fault, and it's like, oh, well, they always forgive us. But there's that little point that it's like, fucking motherfucker, she's not sure I trust you as much as I used to. YEA, yeah, I'm not. I'm maybe not man's best friend anymore. I've only ever yelled at Jet really badly once, and I was when he jumped through our new Flywy screen door, right security door. We just paid like two and a half grand to have it installed, and no ship like the next day he jumped through it, like not through it, but like he jumped into it trying to get out the front because he saw my dad arrive and he just burst it off the hinges. Basically, it was just like hanging there. I was fucking so angry, but then I looked like, I'm just like Paul Buker didn't see it. He didn't decide to jump through a door. When you're looking at the Flywy door, you can't see It's like you're looking outside it. It's not his fault. It's like youngest somebody were walking into a door, a glass door, and I felt so bad afterwards, But in the moment, I was just like so angry and he yelled at ten seconds, but I was just like, oh, yeah, bad. I was like so angry, and I'm like, why do I do that? They totally understandable. I mean, it's just because it costs so much money, and it's like we had just got It'd be like buying a brand new car and someone's walking up and keying it, you know what I mean? Yeah, well, uh, lose new dog. RAFFI the bigger pappy on puppy. It'll be sent outside to do it business when it's not doing it on the doing business on the on the floor, and I want to come back in, and I'll start and I'll start nibbling at the flyby to the point where there's now a bloody hole in it. And had to disconnect the whole doors in an aunt for like crim safe. It's like, fucking get that. He's always getting through that shit. Yeah, how is the how is the little dog going? He's still stinking up the house occasionally, Yes, good thing about having a stinky dog is that you can also fart and blame it on the dog now because enough he's done enough of them where it's just like, oh, he's done it again. You can blame it on he's doing silent but deadly as though. And I would, you know, I would be the whole woodwind section of the orchestra. Now you're just gonna do the forgetting Sarah Marshall thing. We just like opened your leags slightly and spread your cheeks and then the air just comes out and doesn't make a sound because it only makes a sound because your arch cheeks are together. So if he's slightly like calculate to the side, open up your ars cheeks just slightly, air just comes out, just like like it's like a defleating balloon. Damn, my man, you're trying to you you're trying to explain farting to me. You might you might want to check yourself. I've cut my legs more than you've had hot dinners. That cause it a fart. Mount Barton about got Barton Homer again driving twenty three saw the drive past Mount Rushmore twenty feet out of your way, so they decided to pass on it, and but sort of says to Homer, here, bull I pulled pranks. Was maybe pulling practs is anything I'm good at? And Homer sort of points out how struggling he is with his life, like he sort of realized, you know, he's he's going nowhere, he's stuck in a dead end job, blah blah blah. One snickers pie away from foot diabetes. And then they arrive at scobos a diner. Get the woman here, the waitress, she's there. I like that. Remember that woman from the episode where they were out on the run somewhere and she was like, you're you're so and so. I like that. Okay, you remember that waitress. It was the episode whether I think it was where they had the might have been the one where they had the reality show they escaped from the house or whatever, and Ziggy was in that sounds about right, something around about the rundom at that time. But anymore, But she she doesn't say, but I like that in this episode. But I'd like to point two things. First of all, snickers pie sounds just awesome. By the way, I'll try to Snickers butterscotch on the weekend Guess what it tastes like Snickers didn't really taste them too butterscotchy. But and as everyone knows, it's like new flavor variation. Oh, I'm definitely trying that. I'm gonna pay full price. Then you realize this tastes like a Snicker's. Yeah, I find a chocolate that's very rare that it tastes that much better. Like like with chocolate, they're pretty much they've peaked like chocolate. I can't really taste much better. I'm not sure adding new flavors is really going to change. It's a different sensation, but it's not a better one. Yeah, or you need to add a markedly different flavor to it, like Mars raspberry or something. Okay, then yes, but minor variation like Snickers butterscotch not really working. Nice trying though. But the thing was watching this on Disney Plus. I've got the subtitles, and when Homer gets very excited about a Snickers pie, the subtitle reads euphoric gurgling? Is that what it says? Euphoric gurgling? What's what's the one that they always used on Netflix? It's um when it's like background noise, something chatter. What do I say, oh, incoherent chatter or but it's something like that where it's just like you can't understand it. Chatter, instinct, indistinct chatter, indistinct chatter, indistinct chatter. I always thinking, I wondered if like a hearing impaired person always goes wonder where indistinct chatter sounds like? Like? What is? What is someone who's never heard chatter before? How would I know what indistinct chatter? Sounding very Jerry sein film, does it sound like what's indistinct? I know what regular chatter is, but indistinct. They're in the in Scobos and we've got the father here who's from and he's taken him to Oregon, his son to the Shakesmian Festival where who was going to be directing it was legendary theater director, Sir Peter Hall Correct And they're both very excited and they head off to their prayers and don't forget your menu for the scrap book, and Homer and Bart laugh at him here and they bond over, which was a nice moment. They're very different, but I'm all for the kind of thing like Nick and I we well magnets, but I also like taking menus from places like I've got a menu from Tom's Restaurant in New York and things like that. I just like looking back at menus from like twenty years ago and go, remember when we can get at but a chicken for ten dollars? Well, don't you put it on the guy hole, man, it'll happen. Do you also were allowed to take those menus? And or did you sort of smuggle usually at the at the desk when you usually gonna paper one, And I always asked, is it gonna take one? Like, yeah, sure, I take one, And I always take one. I always asked, obviously, But yeah, it's funny you look back at many even like two or three years ago, and I'm like, how the fuck has things gone up this much in like three years. I've got a fish and chip shop pamphlet from when I was a kid from Rose Avenue fish and Chip Shop in Norlin here and minimum chips. What do you Minimum chips was in nineteen ninety seven. I'm gonna say a buck fifty dollar fifty right on the money, minimum chips and that was enough. Oh yeah, that's a nice lunch. That was, like minimum chips would satisfied to people just want some chips on the side of your fish or whatever. Minimum chips You're fine. Can you imagine getting a dolt fifty by the chips? Now, they might get your half a chip chips so expensive? Now, well, yeah, I mean I've told you about the chicken shop down the street. That's like, yeah, dude, to the potatoes sortage, you're only getting sweet potato frats. I'm like, that's not what I want with my chicken, right, So no, get it. That's like, so we're like due to the letter sort shortage, maybe putting cabbage in your in your subway, I'm not I'm having a chow me in sand which I want to fucking stuffy fuck you will honestly rather nothing than cabbage in my fucking subway sandwich. I don't put anything in there. Don't put fucking cabbage in thereaty crazy or if you've got cabbage law. Yeah, anyway, enough about complaining. So the now marton Hover are bonding and they realized, you know, they've got more in common than they realized. And he brings up there you can it's legal to marry your son for a father to Mary Sun, Massachusetts, I'm like, what was the point of bringing that up? I don't really get it. Anyway, Bart goes to the toilet and Homer meanwhile order some big breakfast with baking it added to everything, and then once he finishes his food, he thinks Bart has snacked away. He was like, what's going on? He goes into the bathroom. Bart is hiding in there home it looks at the window, but then goes and tells Stavross that someone's trying to dine and dash, and he catches Homer and smacks him on the ass with his frying pan, and yeah, there you go, and seeing that that is the thing that happens. Yes, Bart has escaped in this episode, but has escaped. We're now at the at the yard sale and on the side there's no looky Lose and coming book guy gets a fucking awesome deal here, yet still complains it's all of Bart's action figures the mister plowjacket, which I guess in Springfield universe doesn't really mean anything. But you know, two of Simpsons fans, big deal and all these at a power ranger Andy's for three ninety five. I'm like, mate, you don't need five minutes of the fridge, get out of there. Take that right, you got, you got the bonus plane, you got the deal. They've only made five dollars one all comes from Flanders buying back his stuff, which is quite funny. And then they also made three ninety five from from comic book Guards. Then, yeah, that is true. That doesn't really add up. So does that make a dollar five from I don't know, that's not question. I don't. But then Flanders sings that Joseph and the Mason technicolor dreamcoat. It just goes on forever, my lp of dreamcoat, How I love my coat of many colors? It was red and yellow and green and brown and scarlet and black and ochre in peach and ruby, and I live in violet and lilac and gold and chocolate and move and cream and crimson and silver and rose and azure and lemon and rusted in gray and joel and purple and white and pink and orange and red and yellow and green and brown, scarlet and black and ochre and peach. The Salvation and might just sort of said, oh, how y'rselves a failure? Have you? Did you ever have a garage sale? They're not really a thing anymore. You just have Facebook Marketplace now. But we used to have garag showers probably twice a year, and it was an exciting time for me when I was a kid. It was like, what was a chance to sell some shit they don't need anymore and make a few actually dollars and whatever. That's true. Yeah, I mean it's you either put it on an eBay or Facebook marketplace or some other online imporium, or it's just like, no one's buying this. I'm just throwing a haf a hard rubbish. Yeah, And so it's like a free garage sale. We had a sign I put out a state recently. It's a garage sound. I was like, what a novelty I'm going? It was like a good stuff, it's a few mugs and like an old bike. This is why I got a garag sales anymore. So it's funny because I got down, I was like, oh is this all? And she's like, yeah, yeah, we sawd most of the good stuff on Facebook Marketplace. I'm like, what was the point of this thing? So well, you're playing me for a sucker, Yeah exactly, yeah, buying you shit, getting my pity, my pity money, but even the Salvation Nonaby doesn't want any of his stuff. And then Otto appears and he wants someone of the pain medication, and Marge takes advantage of his own generosity where he's like a dollar or she should just a dollar and he's like peel, She's like yes, and she's selling it all. And he said, like drugs in the bottle, I feel like Elvis Presley, and then we get a few. I like the music que here, it's this is what the music they always play when it's like it's getting to do the blue or a little illegal in Springfield, and we've got clidisag Kearney, doctor Nick Disco, Stu Snake, as well as Birch Barlow, the rushed lumber of our Springfield. Okay, that's a nice, nice callback. Whoa, This is so much safer than buying my illegal drugs at the playground, bagger Quist. Surprise me, mum, I'll take all your estrogen. That's a female replacement hormone. It's for a friend who's trapped in the body of another friend. It's a rather progressive transgag for two thousand and six, I think, I mean, yeah, it wasn't really sort of poking fun. It was kind of sensitive in its own way. How much calling Leny who's in Vegas obviously, and he's on a roller coaster with showgirls and an elephant, and he's just too satisfied in every way. And this is where he drives past and sees Bart hitchhiking marine home for Christmas, is what it says, and he signed, He's like, I've got you now, and then he goes it nearly drives off the edge of the cliff. And I liked what scares me the most service engine soon when I see the light coming of my car and I'm just like, I don't want to. It's gonna cost some money I have to pay for. This is ridiculous. I much prefer that though, too. You're overheating, Yes, that's true. Yeah, that is. That is the scariest of all dashboard indicators. We come back from commercial and home as sister, but pushed down in the back of the car so that the car tips up and I can come out and beating and shower you of love. So then he does so then he's just a back and forth of Oh I love you, I'm going to get you. Oh no, I won't know what. Yes, I'm going to kill you, and I'm just like, I just went on forever again. It did, And I like that idea in theory. I think that's not the possibility of a good gag, but it's very it's writing dependent. It's also very timing dependent. I mean, it sort of needs to get a little more friends as it goes along, and then the car needs to be going, you know, right right, and then as it gets more sort of frenzied. I don't know. I just think that there are a lot of missed opportunities in this episode, or you know, I don't want to I don't want to miss Nancy cruise. But it just felt like the direction was kind of basic. Yeah, well the material she was given wasn't that great either, though, to be honest, that's true. In that case, it's the director's part to roll to them living it up. Yeah, so you're right, Yeah, but I'm eventually sorry, you see, I'm Nancy. I don't mean as too much of a diss but I could have done a few things a little spicier. But eventually, obviously, says Homer, Marge is now counting her money. Jimbo arrives for the yard sale, and my march is like, I'm not a drug grocer, and she's another knock at the door. So much money I've made. Basically, it's like her admitting that she's been selling drugs for money. Wighams now there and he calls her Mark pedal and he takes her in And as as Lou says, here, you have to explain the joke, Chief, it's it's not only good, but all those moments on this show, on both of us, Homer has now got butt or chained up to the seat of the car. He explains it being a father, it's just another job, long hour's no pay. At the end, you got someone complaining that you've been all You've screwed me up, and I'm like, yeah, but I don't know. I hate I hate it when they have Homer. We all have moments where it's tiring and it's hard work being a parent. But I don't like it when you hear Homer say I hate being a parent, like it's no fun, there's no positive to being a parent, and nobody and he realizes that he misses bla blah blah blah. But it's just like I don't know. Also, you don't want to You definitely don't want to be saying that to your kid. Yeah, it just felt like a bit much um where they arrive at upward Bound, where they take the sas and turn it into cists. And the guy there, he's not not a real colonel or lieutenant or whatever, he's just in a boyscout aff. What hed do they say he did to the boy scout aff. He doled it up like bla blah blah something like that. Yeah, and then to kiss your childhood goodbye. And I was like, it's kind of sad now, like people do get to these kind of things, and I'm like, even the idea of kiss your childhood goodbye, I'm like it would be people who have experienced that, and this is such a such a sad concept to have to come to terms with. Well, here's the thing. I mean, this is around two thousand and six, and if my memory of this era is fuzzy at best, I'm wondering if this is sort of like the Paris Hilton era, because Paris Hilton was a very big deal in the two thousands, and she is recently back in the news because you know, grown up and a little wiser. And she's sort of saying that her parents sent her well to a place like this for and she was there for like maybe eighteen months or something like like a behavioral modification facility, and it was basically like a work camp. Then you say, oh, you know they use psychological manipulation on you, and you know there's a lot of sort of physical if not abuse and sort of punishment. And it was like, damn, Paris had a rough. She's never had a rough. Don't recon sect tape. I wasn't going to, but I'm glad you did. Thanks, And no, I'm not about to read litigate Parish because I don't have a lot of time for a bins like she had a rough raighteen months at least, and she was like, oh, and I had drum as a results, maybe you would do. I'm worry, mister Simpson. We're gonna take his sass and turn it into ciss. Thank you, colonel. I'm not a colonel. This is a boy scout uniform that I had dolled up. Come with me, son, now kiss your childhood goodbye. Hammer starts second guessing himself. He sees Bart sort of looking sad, and he's like, oh, maybe you've done the wrong thing, drives through Matt Groening's birthplace. He's off to Vegas, and we get his vision of what's going to happen in Vegas at the casino and just basically sees Bart everywhere. He realizes she's a very weird eat my shorts gag. Yeah, that was gonna be kind of like a chick anyway. But he realizes, here a minute, I miss Bart. I'm gonna go. I can get him. I'm gonna save him from this place that I just spent all this time taking him too. He takes the exit, but he takes he goes the wrong way. I don't know anyway. Basically, it's just the I'm going through this exit up but this looks cool from up above, and I'm like it doesn't really. It's just like yeah, yeah, man. But that's basically the National Lampoon's European vacation gag, which I've sort of formative time with a couple of buddies of mine one night in a bottle of Bacardi, and anytime you sort of got on the road and you had to you know, you're driving was not great you'd say Big Ben Parliament because they get taught on a round about it. They just keep going around and a round and around, like hey kids, big Ben Parliament. Well the Simpsons do that, Remember they go to UK. Oh yeah, that's right if they get the rondom out. Yeah. But now, but Homer gets back to to the camp, but is shopping wood very well. He's learned so much in the last three hours. He realizes that he doesn't need to do any pranks or anything like that. Let me over here, Homer saying, stupid horse, that's a deer crossing tells but to wash the blood off the dash, off the wind wind screen or whatever. He said. He's taken him to Vegas and the reasons like an absolutely kill joy. I'm wondering how I feel about that kind of yeah finale. I'm I never enjoy it when you know someone's in jazz, within reach of becoming a better person or changing their ways or something, and then they're sort of yanked back to their original factory settings. I mean, I know that The Simpsons has to sort of remain but a lovable Frankster and a joke like this would feel more at home in say South Park yeah, especially the whole stupid deer, stupid horse as the deck us. I'm like, yeah, that's a bit explicit. Yeah, wash the wash the blood off the windscreen already says it was like, I don't know, yeah, but you're right about the whole part turning into a better person, and Homer is the reason he's not going to Yeah, it's just see what they're going for and you have to get back to the status quo. But it's okay to sort of. I guess the show wouldn't work if but matures straightens up and flies right, I don't Yeah, anyway, Homer's credit card has also declined, so that's the end of that story. It's just like makes that that quick wrap up just kind of makes you feel like, what a waste of the whole episode. I think that everything we've been watching was set through all that, and that's how you wrap it up, that's right, Yeah, I mean you worked really hard to reach the finish line. If it actually even see him at the camp, it's just you know, I've been for three hours now, I feel like I feel like I'm a better person. And then home is like, no, you don't, let's go to Vegas, And I'm like, what was the whole point then? What it is havn't taken to Vegas and have some actual gags here? Yeah, I mean if the if the takeaway of this is, oh, Son, I love you as the rambunctious little prankster that you are. That's what makes bart bart No, you could do it a little better than this. You could reach that, you could reach that conclusion a little more effectively than this, maybe by cutting down on some of these gags that going forever. And what's annoying is but I haven't seen anything about Barton Homer in Las Vegas, because that's the Lisa arriving home. Here's a question. Lisa arrives home, she gets the phone message March say she needs ten thousand dollars bail to get out of prison. Right. Homer and bart the message. They had a fight with a really uncoled pit boss. They're both now in prison or Homer's in prison, doesn't know where bart is says say, hi, have you seen and we have Lisa say, oh, Maggie, and it was gonna be just us two one day. I'll look for work in the morning. I'm like, so Marge left Maggie home unattended. Oh yeah, stupid, interesting, ridiculous, bad ending, bad ending, horrific. Four fingered discount does not approve. I'm flabbergasted by the writing of it. We cannot sanction such Just how does a team of the best writers, apparently in the world of the Simpsons writing staff, the claimed Simpsons writing team, how does one of them not go, who's watching Maggie? And if they did, I hope the guy that didn't just go, oh, it doesn't matter, because it does fucking matter. That's the kind of thing that you would not gloss over in ninety Simpsons, Lisa arriving, Maggie's just sitting there unattended. It was sold out for a cheap gag. I'm not happy. And so yeah, Endings are maybe the most important of any creative endeavor, well, certainly in storytelling, you know. I mean, I think you'll forgive any number of faults if you stick the landing. And in this particular instance, the Simpsons was trying one of those triple somersault things on the on the high beams and then landed and just cracked its ankle in half and went and that's it. Be bad ending. So unhappy. We have had episodes in the past where they have you know, everyone always goes back to the dast Bus episode where it's like, oh, they were saved by let's see mo, right that whatever. Occasionally do that, that's fine. But when you have an episode that's filled with so much filler, but that episode's at least pumped full of gags, right that they've run out of time, it doesn't matter how they get saved, it's just they get saved. Right. This one here is just like a story that is missing a lot of shit, but because they filled up too much time with just useless stuff, and it gets to the end and it's like, oh, well, run out of time, doesn't matter what. At least with the with the Dusk Bus ending, you get a resolution as to sort of say, and this is how things get back to the status quoted rescued by this one here, it's like, Okay, Lisa now has to provide for Maggie because everyone's in prison, like what. It's never good when an ending raises more questions than answers. It works sometimes in sitcoms where like sign Felt, for example, something like that they end on a gag or the episode could have kept on going. But I don't know, It's just it's just the amount of filler. This one felt like it had so much more filler than any episode have seen to date. I reckon. This really felt like they just did not like Kevin Curran just no, God rest his soul, just didn't care. Yeah, when you've got that combination of extraneous stuff and stuff that feels like too much and stuff that feels like not enough in the same episode, yeah, you're you're in trouble. What do we learn, Palmer? What did you learn from this episode? Mister Davis? Um that the best kind of gurgling is euphoric, especially with a lot of our indistinct chatter happening in the distance. I learned that if collecting menus is lane, then I guess I'm just a big lane. From this knee forward, your name shall be It's time for the Guy Davis New Name. Championship Round eleven four, Season seventeen. He current leaderboard stands at this in first position Luke McKay on nine points, In second position we have Applebyond seven and in third position we have a Garrod harrow Hill on six points. Take it away, Miss Davis. What have we got right? Oh, one point goes to bart and Homeless. Bogus Journey place tugs at my heartstrings. One of my favorite films of all time, Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey. That would be one Fergus. Jeffs with the one point that puts him now on five points, while on Fergus, I puts him on seas points wid on Fergus, even better Fergus. Oh my god, you know what, you know what's better than five points? What's that? Six points? Yes? It is? Indeed. Two points goes to Fear and Don't Thing in Las Vegas. Fear and Oh another good one that goes through our man Justin Williams. That's the first time Justin's been on the leaderboard. Well done, Justin with the two pointer. Good stuff. It's a big, wide open race this time around in season seventeen. That's great. I like that. But three points goes to Blunder Road. Oh that's pretty clever. It's clever, Kyle, and that would be clever car. I'll do then with another three pointer, which moves Kyle right up now to also six points. Okay, so first and second still the same. Luke McKay still on nine points heat that would be still in seven. But we've got two nubies now added to the our third position now longer just outright De Rode Harry Hill. We have a three way tie with Garrode, Kyle Muldoon and Fergus Jeff's all on the six points and Nora Cooker and David Mottter just behind them on the five points. It's all very tired, very close here. I'm the guy Davids New End Championship for season seventeen. I'm liking it. We do enjoy a crowded field. It makes the race more interesting. M So if you want to be of the New Name Championship, you can still hit yourself first prize. It's gonna be a part of the New Name, part of the four figure to scamp Facebook group by being a supporter of ours on a Patreon deail Here game, mister Davis, it's time now for the mail bay for we're on the road to do. A first question comes from Andrew JP. Of course, Andrew says, what's your ultimate road trip? Where would you go and what route would you take? Wow, we've discussed your your root sixty six one already. That is true. Yeah, that is probably my my dream dream road trip. I don't know if Road sixty six include all the pch the Pacific Coast Highway, driving into Vegas at a dusk I think would be right up there as well. I'm not sure of the exact locations in Europe, but I'd love to do a bit of a European road trip. I don't know how to road a ride a motorcycle, and I don't think that's probably true late for me to learn. You should never say that it's never deal late for you to learn anything. I think a motorcycle road trip would be fun, especially around Australia. I just have to do something motorcycles or whatever I see. I'm just like, it's just too dangerous to me. I'm just like, I don't know the temptation to hoon on them. You know, you see people, there's so many drivers out there where The thing is, if you're really good at riding a motorbike, I feel like it's like you just see sometimes the drivers. I mean, there's plenty of motorcycle riders out there, but sometimes their confidences gets the better of them. I'm like, was there a need for you to even like do you have to be riding between those two cars at the front of the line at the bed, Like can you not just wait behind them? Like? Why are you being a menace on the road. I know, I know it's probably a ninety five percent chance you're not going to crash, but that five percent chance is just going to fuck it up for everybody else if you do. That is one correct I mean, but I like, I imagine that if I was on a motorcycle, I would probably write it like I was riding a scooter. M Well, as I'm Alliott and hollyo Big on that film by Pixar Luca at the moment they write vesper vespers in that. Oh, I love the idea. I mean, that's the thing. I would probably not get a motorcycle. I'll probably get a vesper, but a vesper is not something you're gonna go on road trip on. All right. And this one he comes from Harrison McClure. What's the best thing that you've ever purchased from a car boot slash yard sale? Well, I haven't been to a good one for a long time, but we used to do a lot when I was a kid. But for me, what I liked about when I was a kid was that it was a chance to score some action figures or things like that to sort of complete my collection that either my and sold out or my mother couldn't afford. I'm like, so, you know that this kid's either grown up and and the mom's just getting rid of his old toys or the kids trying to sell his toys to buy some new toys. Maybe I'll be able to finally get that black power rage that I've always wanted in my hands. You know, I think the only times that I've really been to garage sales, did I pronounce garage correct correctly or weirdly than garage sales? I say, I say garage sales. I think we've done this before. Him was like, yeah, is that you pronounce garatt? I mean, it's just you just got to naturally say the word. And then because if you're trying to say, it's like garage garage, but then we put it into a sentence. I went to a garage sale, garage sale, that's what I say, garage garage. Oh my god, you start thinking about that and you can just drive His can say, but when I've been to sales such as those. It's usually like I should get something, you know, or if it catches your o's like, oh, that'd be nice for the house as opposed to you know, like something cool like cool action figures or blue rays or whatever. It's like. But I do remember, like that's kind of a nice vah that might like look nice in my house and you know, make it look a little more sort of hospitable. So and I, yeah, I definitely picked up one of those for like a really small amount. It's probably cost you know, I probably paid double water was worth. It was like m and it's taken prior to place on my shelf. And I look at occasionally going you're maybe living like a bum in a lot of respects, Davis, but you certainly nailed the vats. Well, I'm looking at the wall here in the studio and all these trading cards that you see on the wall. Some of them come from my personal collection, but a lot of them were from I went to a garage sale one day and this person was obviously a trading or that there's some was their trading card collector. And there's just giant, two giant boxes of nineties trading cards. And I was like, I wonder how much they went for yes, And I was like, this is a long time ago, fifteen years ago. I was like, how much for these? And he was like, I know you do want how many do you want? I was like, I'll take them more, and he goes, I'll be taking more five bucks and I was like, Brendan, just pick up the box quietly and do not make an issue, and then I'll walk outside. Brendon, you're not listening. Just just taking the cards and put him in the car, pay them in the five dollars and get the hell out of here. Give him a little smile, not a big wide smile. Thank you. That was very nice doing this one. Don't dance on the way out. You know you want to, but don't do it. Don't ask us have five minutes with you with the guys. Fridge just tame five dollars because it was just like, oh my god, they're all here, Lion, King, Ninja, Turtles, Power Rangers. All right. But that Actually, we've got one more mail bag question coming through. Sorry, Simpsons Mailbag at gmail dot com. Remember, guys, you want to send us a question or a message Simpsons Mailbag at gmail dot com. We want to hear from each and every one of you, So if you're listening right now, you never got in contact with us. Simpson's mailbag at gmail dot com. This one comes from Scott Pearson, and Scott says, Greetings gents. I've only just discovered your podcast over the Christmas break and I've been binging my way through as I try to keep up with the latest episodes as well. Love what you're doing. You've really opened my eyes up to the later years of the Simpsons that I've tended to dismiss for a long time. It's amazing we are yes, It's amazing what a fresh perspective can do. Perspective can do. Anyway, I was just wondering, do you think you'd ever consider reviewing the new episodes as they're released. I know it's screw around with your chronological order of the podcast, but it's so hard to find any decent reviews on the newer episodes. Perhaps there's something you could do for your Patreon in the near future. I promised to join by the end of the year. Thanks again for all of the free infotainment, Scott. Well, thank you Scott for the first of all listening. Secondly, if you'll promise to be a patron. We're going to hold you to it. Thirdly, not a bad idea. What do you mean, Danna, you're the one behind the wheel sort of steering the foething a discount express. I'm merely a conductor going tickets. I don't know. I think we could do the occasional new episode. I mean, well, I think we've missed the boat now with season thirty four, season thirty five thesis coming out, I think if we're going to do that, it's going to be from the beginning of the season. Yeah, maybe we could do like the first episode of various seasons. Yeah, pick and choose. I don't think we'll do all of them because, like you said, it fuck with the chronological order. But I was still gonna be doing the show by season thirty five. Who knows. Maybe it's a chance to sort of get them in the bag whilst we can. But yeah, I would. I would like to review him, because he's right. I do struggle to find like really good reviews on the newer episode to get a casion. People sort of given their two cents on YouTube. Occasionally goes like five minutes or whatever, but probably in depth reviews. It would be nice, I know a man Ali Ja and Neil Simpson's index. He does do the occasion of new episode as well on his podcast. Yeah, it was something you would definitely consider. Maybe one season. Thirty five launchers, stay tuned, maybe patrons, even enough people subscribe to Patreon. Maybe we were gonna make it worth our time because we already probably out enough content for you guys. I want to keep churning out the content here we are. Indeed, so Matt, it's a it's a put it into the maybe pile for now. We'll see how we go. We'ld like too, but we'll see how we go. Dando's season eleven reviews was exclusively on our patrin of course, tales of Futurama and maybe you guys and all that as well. But this has been a review. Like I said, I've wear on the road, the door the next one in this day. I'm excited to hear your thoughts on this one. It's a whole episode about Willie. Oh boy. I watched the last night and I was like, the whole episode is about Lisa trying to make Willie a gentleman. So he's not acting like really for the majority of the episode, he's acting like a distinguished English gentleman or Scottish gentleman. I'm like, maybe guy will enjoy this more because he's not being Willie. Who knows, we'll find out. I remain open to to liking it, but we'll just see how it plays out.
