Now here's Matt Jones, welcome back. 00:01:06 Speaker 2: I re number two Kentucky Sports Radio eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Couple up in lines. Got Tyler on there, but we got some others. If you want to get in, I'd love to hear what you think. Seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. One person rights, Matt, I will tell you this about the Perkins in Sioux City. It was muffins and Perkins that got Tiger Woods in Trump Nice. That's a bad I'll. 00:01:33 Speaker 5: Tell you one more thing about the Perkins in Sioux City. Yes, where we're going, we are absolutely going there. Everyone always gets their one pick on our road. 00:01:40 Speaker 2: That's your pick. 00:01:41 Speaker 5: I am picking the Perkins. Ok, right now write it down. 00:01:44 Speaker 2: There you go, fair enough? We uh you always everybody gets one that is yours. Another person writes, Matt, do you what are the repercussions for UK football if we lose to Vandy, Auburn, and Florida. All right, well, let's go through this, Ryan, Andy, Auburn and Florida are three games we need to win all three. Let's say we lose one of them. If we lose one of them, Ryan, we might not make a bawl. 00:02:12 Speaker 6: True. 00:02:13 Speaker 2: Okay, we'd have to beat Louisville if we lost one of them. If we lost two, we almost certainly won't make a bowl. And if we lose three, we might finish three and nine. Okay, what are the ramifications for UK football this year? If we don't make a bowl, it. 00:02:36 Speaker 6: Would be the first time. So that's watch Stoops's second year that they've not made a bowl. I mean, that's kind of. 00:02:41 Speaker 2: I think he went two or three years without making it. 00:02:43 Speaker 6: Three that's that's kind of devastating to your program. Not devastating, but it's disappointing for your program that you how can you go out and recruit these kids and promise them they're going to go to a bowl game and you can't win. 00:02:55 Speaker 2: Do you think the fan base would stay behind him Drew if we went three and nine. 00:02:59 Speaker 5: Or four and eight, No, I don't think so. I don't think so either, especially with those losses. Whether it have been to eighth straight bowl games, that streak ends. I would never won a world where he gets fired. I said the same thing about cal. I hope it can just be a step away situation. But if it was a three win season, I would hope he would just say, you know, I'm not cut out for this anymore. I'm gonna hand it off to whoever's whoever's next in line with some energy. 00:03:23 Speaker 2: It would be hard. That would be a hard thing for the program to get over. I don't think it's gonna happen. I think they're gonna win all three of those games. I certainly think they're gonna beat Auburn and Vandy, and I think they'll beat Florida too. But those are those games. I mean, when you lost to South Carolina, your margin of air went away, Yes, your margin of air went away. That was your margin of air. So now you gotta win. 00:03:46 Speaker 5: And you have Vandy, Florida, Auburn in a row before Tennessee. Think how ugly Tennessee would be if you didn't do well on that stretch. 00:03:53 Speaker 2: We have some breaking news by the way, oh okay, running no Friend and Shela McCoy have been awarded a ten thousand dollars check from WB Transport because of finding the body. It is the first part of their thirty five thousand dollars reward that they are now expected to receive. 00:04:15 Speaker 3: Yay, right, good for them, good for and they get it in three different payments. 00:04:20 Speaker 2: I guess. I guess they can't make any one payment. I guess it's an installment plan. 00:04:24 Speaker 3: Shit, I get it. 00:04:26 Speaker 2: One person writes, Matt, I have a question for you. I know you were gone for two months. You seem like the kind of person that thinks about this stuff all the time. Have you ever thought about changes you think would make the show better? That's a good question, yes, but I don't know what they would be. Like, I think we have the best local show in America, but you can always make things better. But the question would be what it would it be. My bosses want us to go to three hours, and they've aren't. My contra with the company ends at the end of December, and we're we're like in talks right now trying to decide going forward what to do, and they want to do three hours, but I don't. I think that's too long because the thing I like about the show is that, like, if you don't listen, you can do two hours, which is basically an hour and a half without commercials, and you can just listen, and that's pretty good for everybody. I think it would be hard for people to add an extra hour The other thing is, like I pride people in the fact that people listen to the whole thing. Would people be able to do that with three hours? I don't know. And then you know, I'm not sure that I would want to add anybody. This has been the core group for how long ride eleven twelve years now, I mean going back to twenty twelve, So yeah, I don't know. I mean, we added Mario Billy as part of the team now, but I can't think of something immediate that I would do. Ryan is there. You've been on it the you know, a long time. What about you? 00:06:06 Speaker 6: Not necessarily the show itself, but you're always like thinking, Okay, how can we promote or you know, get more, get it out there a little more, get a bigger audience. You know, You're always I think your mind's always trying to go to a place where what can we do to help attract more people to our show? 00:06:19 Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I think everybody in the state knows about it now, Like I don't think there's very many people who don't know we exist. So then it's about trying to keep like getting younger listeners, make sure that we're like hitting all the demos. But I don't know. If you have an idea, I'd be interested. If you were in charge seven seven two seven seven four five two five four, what would you do? I'm always open to suggestions, I Shannon joined. Well, I read about a Facebook group I wanted to bring up to you this morning. 00:06:49 Speaker 3: Okay, have you ever. 00:06:50 Speaker 2: Heard of the Facebook group dorm room Mamas. Oh? WHOA, No, I have not dorm room Mamas. I read about this in a magazine. So apparently, and there are two hundred and fifty thousand people in this group. There's a group of mothers on Facebook who have basically decided that their mission in life is to make sure they decorate their sons and daughters' college dorm rooms for their freshman year. Okay, so they design their son and daughter's dorm rooms and it's like the article essentially said, it's a way for them to keep control over their kids after their kids move out. And the author of the article posted some articles from dorm room Mamas. So last night I went on Facebook, Shannon, and I read dorm room Mamas. I have to tell you, if you ever want to sit and think while at least I'm not like this, go look at dorm room mamas. It's both sweet, but it's also kind of crazy. The things people do in their door for their kids dorm rooms are crazy. They have created a system where you can have your own like they can create your own kitchen and your do it yourself kitchen in a dorm room. They call the parents of their future like roommates and create a theme for the room. 00:08:30 Speaker 3: Oh my gosh. 00:08:31 Speaker 2: Okay. They make it to where they create makeup stations for the girls, They create like stations for the boys to have all their sporting gear. And basically, these these it's It's women, It's mamas essentially create a dorm room because they say they want the kid to have the ambiance of home in their dorm room. 00:08:55 Speaker 3: I would tell mama stay out of my dorm room. I don't need mama decorating the door dorm room. I don't want her in there. I mean she's probably installing, like, uh, streaming cameras so she can keep an eye. 00:09:06 Speaker 2: That's another thing. They have a debate on whether or not you should be able to keep your kid's location on while they're in college. That's a big no. 00:09:16 Speaker 6: Right, that's a big no. 00:09:19 Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean unless the kid wants that the kid doesn't want it. That's a big one. 00:09:23 Speaker 2: But there are debates on there about whether or not you should basically say, if you want me to pay for college, you have to turn your your phone on so I can follow where you are. 00:09:32 Speaker 3: Well, that's where you should have got a scholarship and not have to worry on. But can you mom paying. 00:09:36 Speaker 2: For What did girls mothers do for your for your room? 00:09:40 Speaker 3: Nothing? Nothing? 00:09:42 Speaker 2: I mean I love my mother and she would have done I probably would, but like I didn't want my mom know drew decorating my dorm room. Would you have? 00:09:50 Speaker 5: Uh No? And if anyone visited my door, my mom did not hang those maximum posters or those keystone light boxes all over the walls. There a lot of touch from mom there that that was mostly me decorating. There's a quote from a woman here, Right's Gifts Decorated. 00:10:09 Speaker 2: There's a quote from a woman that says, in order to make the transition for your son or daughter psychologically plausible, you have to create a sense of home or they will spend their whole freshman year wishing they were back at home. Is this woman crazy? Like that's delusional, isn't it isn't it most people excited to get out of their house. 00:10:30 Speaker 6: Yes, by that time, you're eighteen, nineteen years old, you want, you're ready to get out, and mom needs to cut the cord and let the kid live. Man, let them grow up and mature on their own. 00:10:39 Speaker 2: I give my mom a lot of credit. She completely cut the cord with me, which had to be hard for And I'm sure it is hard for parents. 00:10:47 Speaker 6: Yes it is. 00:10:47 Speaker 3: This is more for the parents than are But this. 00:10:49 Speaker 2: Is exactly right. This is for the parents. 00:10:51 Speaker 3: Yeah, they can't let go. It's moms that cannot live. 00:10:54 Speaker 2: This dorm room Mamas is not for the kid. It's for the parents. True, they can't let go, and so they think by somehow like making their kids room, you're somehow keeping control of your child. 00:11:07 Speaker 5: You said, there's like a quarter million people in this Facebook group. Yes one is there one with the same number called dorm room children who are talking about how their moms won't leave them alone, and where to hide their phones when they sneak out so their location is in tracked, and how to get rid of all the stupid stuff they're putting in the room. 00:11:23 Speaker 6: I would be so embarrassed if my mom walked into my dorm room and like, my roommate's sitting there and she's trying to decorate my room for me. 00:11:30 Speaker 3: Like, Mom, it's unbelievable looking at the pictures right now. 00:11:33 Speaker 2: Look at the picture. 00:11:34 Speaker 3: To be fair, though, it looks a lot better than my dorm room looked. I mean, it is kind of fancy. 00:11:38 Speaker 2: Oh so you would want your mom to do it after seeing these pictures? 00:11:41 Speaker 3: No, I wouldn't, But I'm just saying it looked a lot better than. 00:11:44 Speaker 2: One person posts the snacks to send your kid to college with? Did your parents send you to college with snacks? 00:11:51 Speaker 3: No? 00:11:52 Speaker 6: I had some snacks. 00:11:55 Speaker 3: You had snacks? 00:11:56 Speaker 7: Like? 00:11:56 Speaker 2: These are plants? Did you have plants in your dorm room? 00:12:00 Speaker 5: I barely kept myself alive in college. I certainly couldn't keep a plant a lot. 00:12:04 Speaker 2: There are plants. It's unbelievable to me. Tyler, go ahead time. 00:12:11 Speaker 8: First off, thoughts and prayers to your olds algorithm after searching. Unfortunately, to your quick things about Trelle's trips. You guys are crossing the Rockies in December, right. 00:12:24 Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's I hear it's good that time of here. 00:12:28 Speaker 8: Yeah, candy for real, though, if you guys, you have access to a car that has all ill drive or chains, because you will legitimately need that. 00:12:35 Speaker 2: But we're gonna be on the Interstate. We're not gonna be like up in the mount I mean, well if the Interstate does go through the mountains, but we're gonna We've driven through part of this before. We've driven through the Colorado Park before, gotcha. 00:12:48 Speaker 8: I mean, yeah, just definitely check those times they shut down, Like. 00:12:52 Speaker 2: Now we were on remember Ryan, we were on a road in Colorado when they shut it down due to wind when. 00:12:58 Speaker 6: Wine going over feder truck's blowing them over. 00:13:01 Speaker 2: Yeah, we've we've done that. But yes, I mean, we'll be careful, gotcha. 00:13:05 Speaker 8: Gotcha. The other thing too, So, I mean, hey, I've I've been to Portland and like I'm Matt, I'm with you on like New York City, like I'm somebody that I love you. 00:13:13 Speaker 2: You're not gonna tell me to be scared of Portland, are you. 00:13:15 Speaker 8: I'm not telling you to be scared of Portland by no means. But like I've been to many major cities in the US, and that was by far the most depressing what I've been to. So for the best look like the quintessential organ. You might not get up with. You might even make a second trip. That's all I'm saying. 00:13:31 Speaker 2: Okay, well, I just want right now, I want to check the box off. I'm open to other suggestions of where ease, wheref where we go? And I appreciate the call. I mean, I'm not wedded to Portland, but looking at the map, I don't know where northern Oregon would make sense to go. I guess you could go to Eugene, but that's even farther down, farther from Seattle than Portland. 00:13:51 Speaker 5: So Ryan said he's gonna call Shane Boyd. What's it Beaverton. 00:13:55 Speaker 2: Headquarters And that's just a suburb of Portland. Though like that, that's I think it's just on like a suburb of there. But yeah, anyway, if I'm nine two eight, twenty twenty seven, Hailey, go ahead, Haley. 00:14:08 Speaker 1: Hi. 00:14:09 Speaker 9: That So, my boyfriend's a big fan of the show, and he told me I should call in and tell this story. So I am a student at UK and yesterday Mark Pope came into my psych one hundred class, Oh really and basically talk to all of us. He told us about how he basically like his coaching philosophy and how he's got team psychologists that have instructed him on how what's the best psychological way to approach coaching? And I'm I'm just really excited to see what he does. 00:14:41 Speaker 2: So what did he say was his psychological way to approach coaching? 00:14:46 Speaker 9: He basically has like a teen psychologists that tell him what is the best like psychological way to approach things. And the thing that stood out to me the most was he told them, he told us to write this down, he said, he told them they told him what you focus on broadens and so like when you're coaching, you don't want to focus on you don't want to put as much of an emphasis on what not to do. You want to put an emphasis on what to do. And so he talked. He was like, we don't talk about turnovers. We talk about what to do to prevent turnovers. 00:15:18 Speaker 2: Gotcha? Well, first of all, how cool is it Ryan that he's he's talking to these classes, Like, that's awesome, I mean that that's involved in it. Do you say it was just like a psych one a one class. 00:15:29 Speaker 9: It's a psych one hundred classes. Yeah, none of us knew about it. He just came into our professor knew he'd organized it, but yeah, that was pretty cool. 00:15:37 Speaker 2: Well that's awesome. Well, thank you. I appreciate the call, Hayley that I'm not sure Mark Stoops could have done anything better off the court so far as being the coach. 00:15:46 Speaker 6: Mark Pope, Yes, yeah, he gets it, man. I think he's got daughters that are all college aids. He gets that he can relate to those kids at that level. I think it's awesome he's reaching out to the student body to get them excited about what they're doing on the basketball court. 00:16:00 Speaker 5: The professor set it up. But I could also see where Mark Pope would just walk across the street, step into a classroom start talking. 00:16:06 Speaker 2: Do you think he would just walk in and say yeah, I. 00:16:09 Speaker 5: Could just assue him. I got about twenty minutes to kill. I'm just gonna walk over and step in a classroom. 00:16:13 Speaker 2: One person wrote on this dorm room mom, a's shit. My son has a hard time waking up in the morning. He tends to snooze his alarms and he misses his first class. He's worrying he's gonna fail. What should I tell him? Get up? 00:16:26 Speaker 3: Hit your ass up, be irresponsible. 00:16:29 Speaker 2: What do you mean what you type? Shit? Get up? 00:16:32 Speaker 3: How did these get gen z? 00:16:34 Speaker 2: I mean my son has a hard time getting up for class. 00:16:38 Speaker 5: Guess what. 00:16:39 Speaker 2: That's everyone that's ever gone to college in the history of man call. None of us want to get up. You tell your kid get up. We'll be right back. Quarterback, take you sports radio. Don Franklin's family of dealerships has the largest inventory of new US and certified pre own vehicles in state, over five five thousand vehicles twenty six dealerships. Go check them out today. It is Don Franklin Otto. They are driven by family. At Don Franklin Jay, one person writes, Matt, I do pay for my kids uh phone for their college. And when I agreed to pay for the phone, I told them I expected their location to be shared. It's not to track them. It's because I want to worry about them, not snoop on their excursions. But they got a cheating don't they have to be adults at some point? Yeah? 00:17:31 Speaker 3: Right, yep, at some point you gotta let them do their. 00:17:33 Speaker 2: Thing, like you gotta let them do their thing. And do you believe that somebody has that access to never looks at it? 00:17:39 Speaker 3: No, I don't believe that at all, Like you're gonna. 00:17:43 Speaker 2: Look at it. I mean, I'm amazed how many people I hear that they they say they share their location on their phones with their with their with their like girlfriends and boyfriends. Can you imagine would you do that? 00:17:58 Speaker 6: Do that? 00:17:59 Speaker 2: You do that? 00:18:00 Speaker 6: Drew? 00:18:01 Speaker 5: Yeah? 00:18:03 Speaker 2: Why is it safety? 00:18:06 Speaker 6: Well? 00:18:06 Speaker 5: I turned it on on a we're actually in a snowstorm on a KSR road trip. I think it was Wisconsin. 00:18:12 Speaker 2: Okay, so you were worried about safety. 00:18:14 Speaker 5: And my phone was dying and I turned it on and it's just been on ever since. 00:18:18 Speaker 3: Okay, the Ryan's got a kid about to go to college, So Ryan, will you. 00:18:21 Speaker 2: Do that with Josiah? Will you make him share his location with you? 00:18:25 Speaker 6: I know this may be wrong. I don't make him share his location now. 00:18:29 Speaker 2: See, I don't. I think people like I don't know. It feels like the kids should get privacy, right. 00:18:37 Speaker 3: It's a little intrusive. 00:18:38 Speaker 2: Feels intrusive to me. I mean, if the kid wants to for safety reasons, I get it, But at some point they're their own person, are they not. 00:18:48 Speaker 5: I think most parents that say they're doing it for safety, if they open it at three am and their kid is at a different dorm room than the one they're supposed to be in. They are texting and getting in their business. They say they're doing it just to make sure they're okay, but you know they're peeking in on that thing and seeing what they're doing late at night. 00:19:04 Speaker 2: I mean, everybody will think about the terrible thing Shannon, where it would be nice to know where they are. But what about just day to day life? 00:19:13 Speaker 3: Yeah, make sure you're a class. 00:19:15 Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. 00:19:16 Speaker 5: I have a lot of my friends I will say it's fun to text them, why are you at a bar at three o'clock? 00:19:21 Speaker 2: See, I don't get that either. I don't people share their location with their friends? Yeah? Would you do? I can't imagine doing that. I guess that's a generational thing. I can't imagine doing that. 00:19:30 Speaker 5: It all starts as one off, like I'm looking for you to Telgate and you shared it and we've just never turned it off. So now it's become like a what are you doing over there? 00:19:38 Speaker 3: So let me tell you, Matt. You know, like Saturday at Bourbon and beyond sixty thousand people were there. I shared my location with my friend It is unbelievably accurate. I was able to find him in sixty thousand people exactly where he was. 00:19:51 Speaker 2: In that crowd. 00:19:52 Speaker 3: You can find it, yes, which is crazy. 00:19:55 Speaker 2: I'm sure it's a generation thing. I just can't believe that people want to do that. 00:19:59 Speaker 5: But I guess you know where my friends are right now? 00:20:01 Speaker 2: Are you where's Corey right now? Many UK and Clemson. They gave the game time Ryne nine to thirty. Nine to thirty start at Clemson on ESPN, which means that postgame show will start in the middle of the night, although we'll probably be on West Coast time, so it'll be okay, I get it. I think Kentucky fans as a hole, though, are pretty upset because the Wednesday night doubleheader is Tennessee Duke Alabama North Carolina. We wish we were playing that instead of at Clemson on Tuesday. 00:20:38 Speaker 6: Right, Yeah, I think you know, you want to be the high profile with the spotlights on the brightest, and you didn't didn't get that doubleheader, so t tipping off a say nine thirty. Of course it'll be ten later than that maybe even. 00:20:52 Speaker 2: So it's it won't be ten because they were not in the same location, so they'll they'll tip it off at the right time, but still it's gonna be eleven forty five or midnight before that game is over. And I just think playing at Clemson Drew that's unfortunate for our fans because that's not who we want to play. But to be honest with you, based on our results from the last couple of years, it's who we get to play. 00:21:16 Speaker 5: Yeah, and when we are. I'm guilty of this too. When we're all looking ahead of the season, no one's really talking about how difficult that game could be. But they did well in the portal. They were what in the Elite eight last year, they had a great season, brought some players back. That's gonna be one of the harder games Kentucky plays all year in the regular season. And you know, I don't know their fan base, but maybe with the late tip it makes it even harder, makes us a tougher environment. 00:21:38 Speaker 2: That's gonna be. That's gonna be a wild environment. As a matter of fact, I think you could make a strong argument that will be ryan that'll be one of our hardest games of the non conference schedule, maybe the hardest to win at Clemson in that environment when we've never been there in fifty years and their crowd is going nuts. That environment will be wild. It'll actually be a good setup for SEC play. But we're gonna that environment's gonna be one of our most hostile road environments we've been in. And since when when's the last time we've played a non conference road game that'll be as hostile as that Gonzaga. 00:22:15 Speaker 6: May West Virginia, That West Virginia game. 00:22:17 Speaker 2: I mean, that was a long time ago, that West Virginia game. 00:22:20 Speaker 5: We've been to Kansas since then, but Kansas Gonzaga is probably the most recent. 00:22:25 Speaker 2: But I mean, we don't play many environments that are gonna be like that. No, So I think that's going to be an unbelievably hard game. And then you put it at nine thirty at night. Kentucky's gonna have to play to win that game. 00:22:38 Speaker 6: Yeah, late night in a MIDWEK game. 00:22:40 Speaker 2: That's gonna be tough. 00:22:41 Speaker 6: It'll be tough. Like Drew said, Clempson's good. I mean, we looked we think Clempson not being a basketball power, but they are really and their students. 00:22:48 Speaker 2: Will still be in school, okay, so it's they won't have gone home for break. Yet that is going to be You know when I sit there and look at the non conference games, well, I think it's harder than Louisville. I think it's harder than Ohio State. I think it's harder than It might even be harder than Duke because Duke's on a neutral court. I mean, Drew, could it be our hardest non conference game? 00:23:14 Speaker 5: It could be. They've had a lot of transfers. If they pan out, I mean they're gonna be very really good team, So it could be very game. 00:23:21 Speaker 2: First true road game. That's gonna be a hard game. Eight five nine, twenty two eighty seven. We'll be right back. KSR. TJ. Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. 00:23:33 Speaker 3: He'll make them pay now. More of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones working back. 00:23:40 Speaker 2: Kentucky Sports Radio. There are people who can When I asked him antego Shannon, like, what would you change? What would you suggest for the show? There are people who literally say conflicting things. One person rites, Matt, the way to be improved the show would be less commercials. Even I agree with that, but what are you gonna do? 00:23:58 Speaker 3: Like I can't gotta pay for the show me, I don't. 00:24:01 Speaker 2: I don't make that decision, and less OVW talk. How much have I mentioned OVW in the last six months. 00:24:09 Speaker 3: I don't know that you've hardly mentioned it. Maybe one time, two times. 00:24:13 Speaker 2: Yeah, most, I really haven't because because I haven't been directly like dealing with stuff that's probably going to change a little bit. But again, so you're like you're complaining about something that doesn't even really happen. The commercials, I agree, I wish we had less commercials, but. 00:24:30 Speaker 3: We also appreciate all of our sponsors. 00:24:32 Speaker 2: No, I appreciate the sponsor so much, right, Matt, every single one of them. One verse writes Matt, my daughter goes to Eastern and she said, the girl that lives across the hall in their dorm, her mother stayed the first night with her to help her ease her transition. 00:24:53 Speaker 6: Oh, oh my goods, that poor girl. 00:24:58 Speaker 2: That's what I think. That's gonna that'll haunt her, Right, that will haunt her because she'll always be Drew, the girl whose mom stayed the first night. Right, wait, where did she sleep in the dorm room, in the bed, in the bed with the kid. That's what it says, Oh my god, no, I. 00:25:17 Speaker 5: Would have to drop out the next day. 00:25:20 Speaker 2: Can you imagine that. 00:25:23 Speaker 5: There's there's you know, sending food, making sure the dorm's got what it needs, take care of your kid, and then there's going way too far and these examples are way too far. 00:25:33 Speaker 2: One person said, Matt, there's a company in Cincinnati that if you pay five thousand dollars, they will design your kid's dorm room decorations. 00:25:44 Speaker 6: This is the kid's first opportunity to be out on their own. Let them decorate their room by themselves. 00:25:49 Speaker 2: Man, can you imagine paying someone to. 00:25:54 Speaker 10: Wow? 00:25:54 Speaker 6: I let my boys just do their own room at their house. That's their space. Do what you want to do in it. 00:25:59 Speaker 2: I'm amazed though, how many people are saying me they follow their kids on uh college kids on uh yeah, on on location. 00:26:08 Speaker 6: You're gonna find out stuff you don't want to know. 00:26:10 Speaker 2: You are, okay, So let me ask you if if you're following your kid and you see at four am there at another person's house, what are you doing. 00:26:18 Speaker 5: You're not gonna do anything because that's not for safety, but you know you're gonna ask thembut. 00:26:22 Speaker 2: You know you're gonna ask them, yeah, and then you're in their life. Yeah, I don't, and then you don't want to have a situation shandon where you're hiding it from your parents. Right, But there'll be people who do that too. 00:26:35 Speaker 5: Then they leave the phone at home exactly. 00:26:36 Speaker 2: The food, that's exactly right. If I'm nine, twenty two eighty seven, Andrew, how are you, Andrew? 00:26:43 Speaker 10: I'm doing great? Hey man, Now you guys doing doing good? Excellent. I am a ninety eight graduate of UK, have lived in South Carolina the last twenty years, and my son is an engineering major at Clemson. So there will be one person rocking the blue and white and little jobs. 00:26:58 Speaker 2: I think we'll have a lot of people. I actually think there's gonna be I would say to you if you're someone that there are a lot of fans out there that are like I like to try to go to one road game a year. This is the one to go to because we'll never go there again, probably for a long time. And I think it'll be a great atmosphere. Do you agree, Andrew? 00:27:20 Speaker 10: Yes, I've been to several games there and I've been to see them play big opponents like the Duke, North Carolina it is a very very difficult place to play, and it's small, it's confined, it's a great fan support for the big game, so it's gonna be very difficult. 00:27:35 Speaker 2: There was not the week of the Gonzaga game. I would definitely go to that one. And the only reason I'm going to Gonzaga is that's a six game series and I personally think they're gonna cancel the last two. I think both teams are gonna agree to only play four. That was a cal Mark few game and I think UK will probably get out of the last two. So this will be the only time we play out there because we've already played out there once and so that's why I'm going. Or otherwise, Andrew I would be taking us on the trip to the Clemson game. 00:28:06 Speaker 10: Well, it's gonna be a great atmosphere. I look forward to it. 00:28:09 Speaker 2: Yeah, appreciate the call. So you know, yeah, if I'm nine two eight, twenty two eighty seven, did you see Ryan Dan Campbell? It came out why he had to move the Lions coach. His daughter's high school friend when they lost in the NFC Championship game shared his address on the school snapchat and he got a group of high school students at his daughter's high school to come, and they stood outside the house yelling at the house. Oh because they were on a public street and no threats were made. They didn't do anything that could lead to an arrest. But it did scare Dan Campbell, who they lost in San Francisco, and he was still with the team, and he started getting messages from his daughter that people were out side yelling and he was scared for his daughter. The police had to come. But it all started because his daughter's classmates shared the address drew on Snapchat and the school A bunch of the high school boys at the school came to the house. 00:29:17 Speaker 5: Shouldn't share the address. It's a dumb high school kid moved. I can't believe, even if they're high school kids, how you'd follow through showing up with the house and threatening. I'm reading down in front of me. It says the daughter had to leave. 00:29:28 Speaker 6: She was so. 00:29:28 Speaker 5: Scared that what is wrong with people? Well go into a house? 00:29:33 Speaker 2: But now sh and I understand why he moved right, Like, I mean, on some level at that point, do you think we should have access to where to know where these coaches live? 00:29:41 Speaker 7: Like? 00:29:42 Speaker 2: No, do you think, well that do you think there should be like there's a public record where you can find who owns every house. 00:29:47 Speaker 3: I know that people have found out where I lived. 00:29:49 Speaker 2: Do you think that's Do you think that's good? Or do you think that shouldn't be public? Right? 00:29:54 Speaker 3: I wish that it weren't. Yeah, I mean if he moves though, I mean, they're gonna possibly find where the new location is. So what's to stop the same group of people from going out there and doing the same thing at the new house. 00:30:07 Speaker 2: I was a little surprised that like going I guess because it's a public road, going outside and yelling at them is not a crime, but Ryan, it does feel wrong, doesn't it that you can go and basically harass a coach outside their house. 00:30:21 Speaker 6: Now you see why some of these people like that want to live in a gated community. 00:30:25 Speaker 3: So you can't imagine not at that level, you know, your high profile. I can't imagine just living out amongst everybody else, like you know, Pope is kind of out in the country, right, Well. 00:30:35 Speaker 2: I mean that's how people are, like, is it. I don't know where Pope is. 00:30:39 Speaker 3: They shared his I don't know. 00:30:41 Speaker 2: Well, do you think Okay? So do you think like the Kentucky media should set should say this is where Mark Pope lives. 00:30:50 Speaker 3: I don't like it personally, but I mean it's kind of. 00:30:54 Speaker 6: You know, we kind of discussed this when we found out where Pope was going to buy a house, and you decided, you know, not bring that up. 00:31:01 Speaker 2: I made the decision not to do it, yeah, because I think these people deserve privacy. But I will say to you Ryan, if I'm honest, I wondered where he lived right like, I looked it up. I can't remember where it was now, but but I had I had an I wanted to know. But I didn't think it was good for us to say it. At the same time, though anyone can find it if they want to, and I drew for some reason, that just feels wrong to me. 00:31:29 Speaker 5: It does, But I take a different approach. We as adults should know better than to go bother someone at their house, even if you do know the house. Sure, we're all guilty if we've looked at someone's listing some celebrity. You know, we even talked about Cow's house. You're clicking through photos, you see it. That's life. We all do it, but we should all know better than to show up at someone's home and you know, brate them or threaten them at their house, even if you do know the address. 00:31:53 Speaker 2: That's true, but I think it's inevitable. Now someone's gonna do it. Like you know, Mitch McConnell doesn't live Shannon very far from me, and if you drive over to where his house is, i'd say once a week there's people outside protesting in front of it. 00:32:10 Speaker 3: Could you imagine having a. 00:32:11 Speaker 2: Can you imagine living like that every day? 00:32:13 Speaker 3: No? No, that's miserable. 00:32:15 Speaker 6: It would do like Dan Campbell and want to move. Yeah, good gated community or something. 00:32:19 Speaker 2: Hey, touchdowns, you should get bet them at DraftKings. A guy yesterday, did you see the video of the guy who won one hundred and seventeen thousand dollars when Jamar Chase scored that touchdown? He had bet? He had bet Amari Cooper, Jonathan Taylor, and Jamar Chase first touchdowns and it paid one hundred and seventeen thousand dollars. He went nuts, which I would have too. You can do it at DraftKings the sports Book. If you're ready to place your first bet, go the DraftKings Sportsbook app make your pick first touchdown is a big one, big numbers and if you win, maybe you're running around like that. If I'm nine two eight twenty two eighty seven, one person writes, Matt, the reason I track my kid is so I can know when they're in an NFL coach's house being a jerk. That would be a fair enough. I think it would be good if there was a way that, like, there's got to be a technology that could say if you're like, the location would show up after a period of time if you thought something was wrong with them, you know what I mean, rather than it always being available, Does that make sense? 00:33:38 Speaker 3: Like you can you can yeah, like share like for a certain amount of time. 00:33:41 Speaker 2: Or no, where you could do something where it's not available. Yeah, I don't know, but then if somebody was missing, it would be nice to have. 00:33:49 Speaker 5: Oh, I got it. You give It's like a token, like Mom, I'll give you two shares. 00:33:53 Speaker 2: Yeah, use it whatever you want. 00:33:55 Speaker 5: If you're really worried, you could use a token. It'll pop up one time. 00:33:58 Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right to one person. Right, it's Matt. Why aren't you mentioning Shannon's tweet that got thirty five thousand likes? What is that? What are they talking about? 00:34:05 Speaker 3: I just shared Jake Paul's video of him working out. He's got a like a fat suit on. I thought that was clear to everybody, but people think that that's actually his gut. It looks like he's about eight and a half months pregnant and he's lifting fake weights. He's claiming that it's five hundred pounds. 00:34:21 Speaker 2: Oh I see, Yeah, so you were just making it joke. 00:34:23 Speaker 3: It was just yeah, it was just him trolling, and I just posted it on Twitter thinking, Okay, people were going to realize this is fake. Haha. No, people actually believe, and it's it's gotten like. 00:34:32 Speaker 2: You know, what's million views. Of the four of us, you probably have the least followers, but I feel like you've had the most post go insanely viral, like your posts about sister Jean and stuff. 00:34:42 Speaker 3: Yeah, this this actually uh tops that thirty one million impressions right now. 00:34:47 Speaker 2: Thirty one million? 00:34:48 Speaker 6: Yeah wow, great, thirty one You might. 00:34:52 Speaker 2: Actually get a check this month from Twitter. Did you sign up for that thing? 00:34:55 Speaker 3: I thought you had to be verified or something? Oh you do not verified? 00:34:58 Speaker 5: Oh shadow is gon start engagement for that? 00:35:01 Speaker 2: Actually that actually might have made you a little bit of money unfortunately. Yeah. Well five twenty two eighty seven. Let's go to Russ. Go ahead, Russ. 00:35:11 Speaker 11: Hey, guys, really really enjoyable to listen to you, guys, And that's the first time I've called. I've listened a long time, and but y'all are entertaining. 00:35:21 Speaker 2: Thank you. 00:35:21 Speaker 11: So my thought is Mark Pope, him experiencing a national championship, experiencing that euphoria that's all surrounding that whole thing leading up to winning that. How do you think that will? Will that change how he deals with players and how he interacts Well, I. 00:35:47 Speaker 2: Mean he's taking the view. He's taking the view. And let me let me tell see what you think about this? All right? See if you I had when I had a conversation with him, I was going to talk about this and I'll do it more as we get closer to big blue manness. But he basically said, here's my philosophy, Matt. I want you to express this to the fans at some point and I'll do a longer version of this, you know, get closer to big blue mannis. He said that in today's college basketball, he believes with the money and all that it's obvious that people won't be coming as much just for the name, but he wants to create an oasis of a place where yes, you get the money, but the name still matters. That rather than just selling the idea this is a gateway to you to another place or here's a lot of money, come make it. You come here because you say this is a place that's special and I want to be here. And he said, look, well, let me just finish. Just let me just finish a second. So he said, look, I don't know if that will work with this generation, but I think it will. He said, ultimately, when I say, how is Kentucky different than and he mentioned some schools, I'm not going to say what they are because I don't want to cause a controversy. But when he said how, how do I say Kentucky's different than this school. This school in this school. At the end of the day, it is this unspecifiable thing that's on the jersey and the fan base. And he said, my job is to sell that, and he said, I think in college basketball today it can work. That's where his mind is. Do you agree with that? 00:37:20 Speaker 11: Well, I mean, and I think that I hope that is the way that he goes. I really do well. I think he's going In the day, that's what it was. 00:37:30 Speaker 2: But back in the day, there wasn't an il that. This is a different wildly, So the question is, so can you do that what it used to be here probably all the way through Tubby? Can you do that in the modern world? Mark thinks you can? And I right, Yeah, I hope he's right. 00:37:52 Speaker 11: Yeah, Yeah, I agree and I and I also hope that Mark Pope is a basketball huh lor. 00:38:01 Speaker 2: Yes, thank you very much. I appreciate the call. What do you all think? I mean, I this will be a longer conversation we'll have in a week or two. But do you think that theory, which is even in this world, as long as we're competitive on the nil, the this is Kentucky, this is special and different can still be sold to guys. Do you believe that if we. 00:38:22 Speaker 6: Had to pick one guy that could sell that and do it, I think it's probably him because he knows he's been here, he's and he said, I bought my jersey here. I think if there's anybody that could kind of put together exactly what you just said, he's one of the few guys that could do it. 00:38:35 Speaker 2: Drue, do you think he can do it? 00:38:37 Speaker 5: Yeah, But like with all things, you know, if you're gonna sell Kentucky on his winning tradition, you got to keep on winning. So as long as he's having success on the court, he can continue to package that up and sell it. Like Ryan said, nobody can sell it better than him. But at the end of the day, gotta be one of those games. 00:38:51 Speaker 2: I think it's a case I needs to be fascinating to see if it works. But he he had I sat there and listened to him for fifteen minutes make this to me, and I there was a longer version. I actually wrote it down. I left his office and got in my car and wrote down all he said because I wanted to be able to articulate it the way he articulated it as best I could, but it was a multiple step thing of Look, obviously the NIO will have to be Obviously we have to win. But what will make Kentucky Kentucky is this thing that the jersey and the place represents. And he said he I don't think he was being rude to calor aything, but he said, I think we've gotten away from that and now it's time to get it back. Because he said, while Rick was awesome, ultimately what made me, meaning Mark Pope come was that. And I want guys who believe in that. It's an interesting thing. 00:39:49 Speaker 6: It is. 00:39:49 Speaker 2: I hope it works because if it works and then you win like that, Shannon, it'll feel even better. 00:39:55 Speaker 3: Yeah, being competitive with the NIO is key. You know, if I got two offers and Kentucky's in the ballpark, I'm probably gonna take Kentucky because it is the University of Kentucky and all of the history that that they have and what the university represents. 00:40:09 Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I think it worked. Jasper Johnson's a perfect example of the theory. They got the Nile. He did not get his biggest NIL offer from here, but they got it close enough that then all that other stuff sold it. That's what I think they're trying to do. Tim, go ahead, Tim. 00:40:28 Speaker 7: It's like trying to explain disney World to someone that's never been to Disney World. 00:40:32 Speaker 2: That's that's probably a good analogy. 00:40:34 Speaker 7: Yeah, that's the best way. I can think of a couple things. The Lions coach you were talking about him, he just planned poorly. You can hide where you live with ANC or something with an as. You can LLC it. You can put an LLC and you can make the seat the CEO of LLC your mother in law. You can put in an attorney's name and be a silent partner in LLC. There are so many ways to hide it. He just didn't think he'd be there long enough for it CoA matter interesting. And then living at live on the fifteenth floor of a building Little John Arena, and I got tickets. It's a logistical nightmare. At nine thirty, the closest I live in Hilton Head, So the closest you're going to stay is Greenville, which is an hour and a half away, and that's going to be booked, and then you're going to have to go to Columbia. It's just an awful time in. 00:41:18 Speaker 2: Kind they know that. Yeah, cl there's not much in Clempson. 00:41:22 Speaker 7: You're right, so that absolutely nothing. Brainwashed living in Louisville and Lexington and thinking all these college towns have infrastructure where in the South they just don't. 00:41:31 Speaker 6: There's nothing. 00:41:32 Speaker 2: That's a good point. 00:41:32 Speaker 7: Yeah, I appreciate. 00:41:33 Speaker 2: That's a really good point for people to think about when they're thinking about going.
