00:00:19 Speaker 1: So before we were recording, Easton was letting us know that he is joining this meeting from Idlewild, which reminded me. 00:00:30 Speaker 2: I once went to a cabin in Idleworld. 00:00:32 Speaker 3: This was during the pandemic, this is during twenty twenty and had the craziest experience. Was a friend of a friend's cabin and we knew that he had been up there, like working on this cabin and like, you know, fixing. 00:00:44 Speaker 2: It up or whatever. 00:00:45 Speaker 3: But we get there and it's amazing. The cabin is beautiful, it has a movie theater and it's but I started noticing that everything on the walls are from the eighties, like all the posters on the wall, and I'm like, that's interesting. And then the Wi Fi password, like the Wi Fi network is called Cabin nineteen eighty five. And then I start looking around. I noticed all the books on the shelves are from nineteen eighty five. 00:01:17 Speaker 2: And then there's magazines. He has actually. 00:01:21 Speaker 3: Magazines from nineteen eighty five. He has themed the entire cabin to the year nineteen eighty five. Wow, he has Jess tapes because it was his favorite year. It was like, you know, like the best year in movies or whatever. But so you go to this cab. He had toys, so. 00:01:38 Speaker 2: My son and our friends were playing with toys from nineteen eighty five, Like he had done top to bottom this entire cabin, and like it was so funny because I didn't talk to him because he was a friend of friends, so I didn't get the if. So I had to like piece together the clues. But it was like basically a time travel cabin experience. It was the weirdness. It was so such a it's strange. 00:02:00 Speaker 4: It's a great idea, but it's like such a random kind of I'm gonna make everything nineteen eighty not eighties, specifically year five. 00:02:08 Speaker 3: But what's amazing is that that year is a great year. So like when we ended up leaving, I thanking him for letting a stay at the cabin. I send him a Goony's map, like the Pirate map and a coin from Goonies because of course that was also nineteen eighty five, but it was there was back to. 00:02:25 Speaker 2: The future I think was nineteen eighty five. He had garbage pail kids on the wall. Like it was insane. 00:02:32 Speaker 3: I was like, but I just love this idea too, of like kind of time travel if with like an airbnb, like right, like I'm wondering if more people should like are doing this, and if not, somebody should like you can go rent a cabin and it can be like all nineteen sixties, So it's like only nineteen sixties technology. 00:02:51 Speaker 4: But I get that more than like it's nineteen sixty two. It's like you're picking one specific year where it's like all the kind of stuff so eighty five and so interesting the eighties have. 00:03:02 Speaker 5: You know, for so many of the years there really are like enough great things that you can you wouldn't even for someone like me, I probably wouldn't have even put it together that they were all nineteen eighty five. I would have just been like, oh, in a eighties cabin. Right for that person, it's like eighty five, And for everyone who wants to go it, being that it's just eighty five, it's not like somebody who's interested in the whole decade is like, I'm not going to go to that place because it doesn't include nineteen eighty seven, Like it's still just going to be it's still going to feel like an asies cabin. 00:03:30 Speaker 2: I'm not going there. The weirdest one for me was to be there. 00:03:33 Speaker 3: So I was five years old in nineteen eighty five and Indy was five when we went to this cab. 00:03:38 Speaker 2: So it was like, in this weird way, I was like, Oh, you're experiencing nineteen eighty five the way I did, and exactly the same age. So yeah, wow, that's right. 00:03:46 Speaker 4: Neither of you ever experienced the single day of the nineteen seventies. 00:03:50 Speaker 2: Nope, No, I experienced three weeks. I was born in seventy nine. Oh that's right. You sat, You're yeah, great, your December eleventh, all the milk, just sleeping. That's incredible. 00:04:01 Speaker 4: So okay, So here's the question then, because you mentioned garbage pail kids on the wall, and I am obviously here in my childhood bedroom once again, and we're starting to clean some stuff out. We're trying to declutter some of the stuff here, so I'm coming across like old toys and stuff that I had. So my question is this, because one of the things that's become very popular is you know, now that you're an adult and you have money, you can go back and you can buy the things you wish you had when you were a kid. And one of the things I thought about was getting all the garbage pail kids because a friend of mine had them all. So if you had the opportunity to buy in mint condition, they'd stay in the box however you wanted them. But any of the toys when you were a kid, is there something that leaps out like, oh, I'd have to have this? 00:04:42 Speaker 5: No, nothing, keep your I don't want No, I don't. 00:04:48 Speaker 2: I don't want to having stuff I don't like having. Again, No, I mean. 00:04:52 Speaker 3: I guess, I guess if I could hold like an original Transformers, it would bring me back, like, you know, like an original Transformer like the big Chunky one. 00:05:01 Speaker 2: And Gjo's were cool. But I wouldn't want to keep it. 00:05:05 Speaker 4: The entire g I Joe in the entire mass collection, all original inbox. 00:05:08 Speaker 2: It would be amazing. I'm like, oh, man, you can't. But again I'm oh, yeah, so I have. 00:05:14 Speaker 4: So the greatest Christmas gift I ever got in my entire life was the Gi Joe Defiant. So the Defiant is a full size three and a half foot tall space shuttle and an entire launching thing. 00:05:27 Speaker 2: It's like the box was huge. It was amazing, Dude, I liked. 00:05:32 Speaker 3: I remember going to Stackhouse's house and he would like stack House, oh go, and I normally wasn't. 00:05:38 Speaker 2: The thing was. 00:05:38 Speaker 4: I normally wasn't, but I wanted the Gijo Aircraft Carrier, and I made sure I was good that whole year. The problem is the Gijo Aircraft Aircraft carrier is seven feet long, so they were like, there's no place to put it. So they found this USS Defiant, which I still have, but it's obviously out of the box. But I was just looking it up because I saw it again. And if you can find one in the and there's one or two out there, it's worth twelve thousand dollars. 00:06:03 Speaker 5: Oh my gosh. 00:06:05 Speaker 2: So that's what some of these things now. 00:06:07 Speaker 4: It's and all these tech kids that are now worth their gajillionaires are now going back and buying the toys from when they were kids. You know, they're buying all the original Star Wars, the original Mask, the original would love to. 00:06:19 Speaker 3: Have my original Magic deck, I mean, because I got you know, I got into Magic when it was still unlimited, and I just didn't you know, it's unlimited, which is that it was. They were darker colored and they were just better looking. That's the way I still look at Magic cards now and I'm like, no, they were limited the way they were printed. 00:06:37 Speaker 2: There that was. 00:06:38 Speaker 4: I still have that original one that you built that you and I built together, that red white deck. I still have that with the Shiven and the Sarah Angel and all that. 00:06:46 Speaker 2: I have Kildorian frostbeast to remember, we used to call Steve Hayford the first stage manager. 00:06:53 Speaker 3: Well, for whatever reason, I think we got him to play with us one time we did. 00:06:56 Speaker 2: He and he had a cal Jorian frostbet and his dad, so then we just like call him that for the next couple of years. We remember we had a big one printed up and it was on his podium. Is that what it was we did? 00:07:07 Speaker 4: We had a giant card printed up with the Caljorian frostbyst that was stuck on his podium. 00:07:12 Speaker 2: But oh yeah, pronouncing that right, I'm sure I have no idea, probably not, but oh man, Sarah. 00:07:17 Speaker 4: I remember the first time when I was playing, You're like, oh, Sarah Angel, she doesn't have to tap to attack. You're gonna love Sarah Angels. She's great, I mean, and she's flying, and. 00:07:25 Speaker 2: I mean these are cars that people still Yeah. 00:07:27 Speaker 4: Yeah, Danielle, what do you think about starting with the Sarah angel and are you a red white person? 00:07:32 Speaker 2: Are you more of a more playgrat deck? Are you like a quick to, quick to cast kind of girl? Where where do you stand? Yeah? 00:07:41 Speaker 5: Man is napping into weeble wobbling with a little bit of pink and blue numbers is kind of. 00:07:47 Speaker 2: Where I. 00:07:50 Speaker 4: Nice rider. What if you had to build a deck for Danielle? Where do you think, daniel What color do you think Danielle would be? Magic wise? 00:07:59 Speaker 2: Where do you think? Definitely blue? I agree, yeah, she would be blue and. 00:08:03 Speaker 5: Like Leonardo my Ninja turtle right. 00:08:06 Speaker 3: No, the magic, the different colors in magic the gathering actually do like change the strategy and there's a character to them. And blue is very smart and usually defensive, water based normally and water it comes from islands. So yeah, you would definitely think you would be a solid blue deck. I don't know if I would maybe maybe a blue and white deck. 00:08:27 Speaker 4: Yeah, which, well she's from the island Malta originally, so yeah, so there you go. Yeah, like what's the white? What's the what's the white? 00:08:35 Speaker 3: White is usually like angelic and pure and like all like good and like. 00:08:39 Speaker 2: Get your power from the plane. 00:08:40 Speaker 3: You get your power from the plains, but it's always like positive like healing, a lot of healing powers and stuff like that. 00:08:47 Speaker 4: Yeah, so I play red and White to me was the most powerful combination. 00:08:51 Speaker 2: If you played it right, it was awesome. Right, we'll get you into it, Danielle. 00:08:54 Speaker 4: What you need is more fantasy based hobbies in your life. 00:08:58 Speaker 5: I know. I mean, you did tell me that I would like dungeons and dragons. 00:09:02 Speaker 4: At which point you shot back instantly. I can't take that kind of theater kid energy. 00:09:07 Speaker 5: It's too much theater kid energy for me. Absolutely, no person like. There are a few things. If you want to guarantee I won't go to your event, tell me I have to come in costume. 00:09:19 Speaker 2: It's a murder mystery party and you gotta wear a hat, and everybody's gonna be in fedoras and bow ties and talking old timey talk and during bad British accents. 00:09:29 Speaker 5: Danielle, you have to use your imagination tonight, and you have to come in an original costume and guaranteed immediate. 00:09:38 Speaker 4: No for me, you have to realize that ninety percent of your career is based around make believe. 00:09:45 Speaker 2: No, we're gonna have a surprise birthday party for Danielle. It's gonna be surprise and we're all gonna be a costume. Hell now, govnor welcome. Yes, oh my god, that sounds amazing. I swear Mono Old would be like hello. 00:10:03 Speaker 4: But also we're gonna throw it out her the day before and tell her she has to cater it. 00:10:07 Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly, you know what. That'll be fine with. If you show me a challenge and I have to supply food for people, I have to like do like something like that that I have to I have to accomplish. Great, if you tell me you know how, you're gonna have fun tonight. We're gonna all play characters and do voices and you're gonna have to figure out the riddle of what we're doing. 00:10:25 Speaker 2: No, absolutely not a great night. 00:10:28 Speaker 5: Get me out of here please anyway, Now you guys all know how to make sure I never come to your parties. 00:10:35 Speaker 2: Oh that's great. 00:10:37 Speaker 5: Welcome to pod meets World. I'm Danielle Fischel. 00:10:40 Speaker 2: I'm right strong, and I am a plus two shiven dragon. That doesn't even make sense if you have plus one plus one counters meet. 00:10:52 Speaker 5: Thank you writer. Our logic police. 00:10:54 Speaker 3: Although I guess they're fire breathing. So if you tapped enough mountains, I would just get a plus two. 00:10:58 Speaker 4: Yeah, it was plus one plus zero with unlimited tapping. That's why you could. Yeah, thirty four. 00:11:05 Speaker 2: Yeah it was. It was great. They're great. 00:11:07 Speaker 4: Cards are amazing card. I spent seventeen dollars on that card. I remember that at the time space. 00:11:27 Speaker 5: Uh So, today we are doing a recap of episode rave On, which is season three, episode three. It originally aired November seventeenth, nineteen ninety five. The synopsis is that Eric and Corey invite the entire school to a huge illegal rave party at Chubby's, but quickly realize it's on the same night as their parents' anniversary. It was directed by David Traynor. It was written by Jeff Sherman. Guest starring Mickey Dolans as Gordie, Davy Jones as Red, Reginald Fairfield, Peter Torque as Jedediah Lawrence's rounding out the Monkey's trifecta, Ethan Suple is Frankie Stacchino, and Dave Madden as the manager. More on him later. 00:12:11 Speaker 2: Yeah, I have no idea who that is, do you really not? 00:12:14 Speaker 4: No? 00:12:14 Speaker 3: I could tell that there were a lot of like in jokes going on, bro, who is this guy? 00:12:19 Speaker 2: What is happening? Yah? 00:12:21 Speaker 4: It's a beautiful This is a wonderful episode for people that like old school musical television, right, yeah, And that's about all it was good for. 00:12:27 Speaker 2: I was I was trying to think, like, what how old the guys were, Like the Monkeys were in this forty five? 00:12:38 Speaker 4: Oh they are older than that, older than I think, so. 00:12:43 Speaker 2: Because I was trying to think, like what the equivalent of this would be for us? 00:12:46 Speaker 3: Is this like n Sync showing up on a sitcom? 00:12:50 Speaker 2: Do you know what I mean? 00:12:50 Speaker 3: Like, like, what is the equivalent of Like, wait, what would all those jokes be of? Like oh, like because this is when were the Monkeys the seventies, eighties, sixties, sixties, sixties thirty Yeah, it'd be thirty years after they're like big yeh. 00:13:07 Speaker 5: Which is you know in sanc backster boys coming up on thirty years? So yeah, it's it's very much like the boys of n SYNC being on How I Met Your Father? 00:13:16 Speaker 2: Right exactly? I mean the Monkeys in the sixties, for it was either a solid year or maybe even two, the Monkeys outsold the Beatles. Literally they were the biggest thing in the world. So, I mean it was yeah, it was crazy. 00:13:30 Speaker 4: Davy Jones was the consummate rock star. He was couldn't go anywhere nuts. 00:13:35 Speaker 2: It's funny. 00:13:36 Speaker 5: They actually did ever out sell the Beatles. 00:13:38 Speaker 2: No, they did, pretty sure. 00:13:39 Speaker 5: It was a lie. They started no really, yes, and it was revealed that that was not true. 00:13:46 Speaker 2: No, I'm googling. 00:13:48 Speaker 5: It's it's very questionable. 00:13:50 Speaker 2: But they were. They were. That's a great story. 00:13:52 Speaker 5: They were the closest possible thing and they had a hitch the Beatles. 00:13:57 Speaker 3: Yes, correct, So they were like actors more, Yes, they were actor but I guess the big difference is they were sort of a manufactured band, right, like they were put together to compete with the Beatles, like they were like the American response to the Beatles. 00:14:12 Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, but Davy was British but yeah, but yes, yes. 00:14:15 Speaker 4: So it says the Monkeys sold more than sixty five million albums worldwide and claim, yeah, to have outsold the Beatles and the Rolling Stones between nineteen sixty seven and nineteen. 00:14:24 Speaker 2: Sixty claim that, I mean, isn't there any you would know, right, you would think you would know. But the Wikipedia gives it to them though it's a claim. 00:14:32 Speaker 5: Yeah, he's like, sure, go for it. 00:14:34 Speaker 4: Yeah, no, they were so this was the I mean the Monkeys were a put together band for the show. And if you actually read the list of the people that were that also auditioned that became huge. It was I think Stephen Still's like from Crosby, Stills and Ash. There's like a whole bunch of huge musicians that if you were. 00:14:51 Speaker 2: Like audition for the right and he had musical talent. 00:14:54 Speaker 4: Exactly, you were like auditioned to be one of the Monkeys, and the list for the people that audition was crazy. 00:14:59 Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not true. 00:15:00 Speaker 5: Manson is one of those people who auditioned. 00:15:02 Speaker 4: No, Charles Manson auditioned to be a Monkey music person. 00:15:07 Speaker 2: Remember did you make it? 00:15:10 Speaker 4: No? 00:15:10 Speaker 5: I didn't make it up. No, I'm serious. I'm just sure. 00:15:14 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:15:14 Speaker 3: Well, Manson has his whole relationship with the Beach Boys thing, like there's the whole history. 00:15:19 Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean that was nuts. That was I just give him a record deal. 00:15:22 Speaker 5: He wouldn't see Charles Manson thing is also a rumor on so very much like the Monkeys climate to have outsold, that's also a rumor that we don't know is unfound out. 00:15:34 Speaker 2: Let's start a boy meets World rumor? Oh my god, can you see the casting director though? And when Manson walks in and like, I could you. 00:15:40 Speaker 5: Play it a little less crazy? What would be a good boy meets World rumor? 00:15:45 Speaker 2: To start? 00:15:45 Speaker 5: Hmmm? 00:15:46 Speaker 2: I have to be like somebody? 00:15:48 Speaker 3: Who was almost a certain part instead of it wasn't the untitled Ben Savage project. 00:15:53 Speaker 2: It was gonna be who what? 00:15:56 Speaker 5: The Nightstalker was almost Mincus. 00:16:01 Speaker 4: The forty five year old man tried to audition for Banks. 00:16:04 Speaker 2: Actually what you know? Yeah? I mean because do you remember it? Wasn't there a weird one that like the friend from Wonder Years was answered? Yes, what a weird connection? What if? 00:16:18 Speaker 5: What if we did when we're One of the cast members of Boy Meets World went on to do porn. 00:16:24 Speaker 4: No wait, wait, wait, you know there is Do you know there is an actual one from Boy Meets World? Though? 00:16:32 Speaker 2: What what? 00:16:33 Speaker 4: Originally there was a Grandmother part and it was Debbie Reynolds and there was there was a whole pilot written about it, and she agreed to do Debbie Reynolds. 00:16:41 Speaker 2: I do not know who Debbie Reynolds is. Will have you met me? 00:16:47 Speaker 4: Oh? 00:16:48 Speaker 5: My god, let's jump into our recap, otherwise we'll be. 00:16:50 Speaker 2: Here all day. Of course not well, the porn thing is true, but one one out. 00:16:56 Speaker 5: Of three's true. We start in the school hallway. Mister Fene comes down the stairs tearing a poster that says illegal rave this Friday. 00:17:06 Speaker 2: Everyone here advertised, who do that? First of all, we're raves illegal, like the illegal ones? Was that part of the appeal? I always thought that the raves were just supposed to be secret, Like the idea was that you just didn't I guess they're. 00:17:27 Speaker 5: A rave has the general feeling of there being illegal activity going on, because when you think of a rave, I think you also think drug culture, and so maybe they just mean like the raves illegal because there are. 00:17:39 Speaker 2: I feel like this. 00:17:40 Speaker 3: Episode is just the clearest example of how out of touch our writers were with Oh. 00:17:45 Speaker 2: Yeah, it was such a weird episode. It was such a weird episode. And it's like, why pick raves? So is Eric? Also like is he dealing X to everybody in the school? 00:17:56 Speaker 3: They think about the way people are We'll get to the how people are dressed at the party. 00:18:00 Speaker 2: There's no understanding. 00:18:02 Speaker 3: Of what is like what a rave is, what is going on in the nineties. What was trendy for a party now it is? So it is the weirdest episode. 00:18:10 Speaker 4: This episode did not make a whole lot of sense in any way, shape or for him. 00:18:13 Speaker 2: It was so. 00:18:14 Speaker 5: Busiest supposed to. 00:18:16 Speaker 2: I mean, it's supposed to. 00:18:17 Speaker 5: Altally love the idea of two kids who have something big planned and then find out it's their parents anniversary and they have to try to make it work or do what idea. 00:18:27 Speaker 2: I love it. 00:18:29 Speaker 5: It's fantastic. I also love the idea of one of the brothers being more on board to just cancel the whole thing than the other. It's like you're you're constantly coming up with places to have conflict, which is great, but the whole episode feels very much like mid forty year olds talking about youth culture and it's just weird. 00:18:45 Speaker 3: Just to get the monkeys together, which is hot, it's like that. It's like, once we get there, you're like, oh, okay. 00:18:50 Speaker 2: We've a reckon. This is why this episode just happened realty much. 00:18:54 Speaker 5: Yeah right, It's like the the swim SyES it was all done. We're like, oh, this is all for this one shocked pretty much. So anyway, the kids all boom. Mister Feenie mocks them. Sean tells mister Feenie it's stuff like this that makes him unpopular. Mister Feenie says he saves a lot of money on call waiting. Do you guys remember call waiting? Of course, of course it was a game changer. 00:19:16 Speaker 2: Oh so you can. You can mimic the sound with the bottle. 00:19:20 Speaker 4: It was always like the click wait, empty bottle goes clicklick, clicklick, and it sounds just like a call waiting bottle. 00:19:25 Speaker 2: Yeah, it's great. Wow, okay from Steinfeld. 00:19:28 Speaker 5: Oh okay, I. 00:19:29 Speaker 2: Stole it, of course I don't up with. 00:19:32 Speaker 5: Corey asks what a rave is and mister Feenie explains it to him, telling him to get hip. Topanga walks up wearing a truly disgusting outfit. I have absolutely no idea what I'm wearing, but vomit. Corey asks if she thinks he's on hip, and she says no. Then she hands him his ear muffs he left at her house, very cute, which I guess ear muffs are. 00:19:52 Speaker 2: On very nerdy. 00:19:54 Speaker 4: So everybody is out at the rave, lad dressed in like t sh shirts and stuff like that. 00:20:00 Speaker 2: So why was he wearing ear muffs? It's clearly not winter. 00:20:05 Speaker 5: Yeah, he just gets cold ears. 00:20:07 Speaker 2: Is that? 00:20:07 Speaker 4: What is he like a dog who doesn't like thunder? I mean, is that what it is? 00:20:12 Speaker 2: I think ear muffs are more because what would the other like, here's the setup for the joke, right, like, Corey is not him? Or would it be like you left your inhaler, you glasses? 00:20:22 Speaker 3: I mean, everything else would have been more cliche. Ears are just weird enough that you're like, I know, but it's it's just funny. 00:20:28 Speaker 2: Summer. It's so strange. Well it's not certainly not winter. You're right, she's wearing will is wearing the leather jacket. You know what I was gonna keeps going back and forth. It's been on three characters. 00:20:44 Speaker 4: They can't find the find the owner yet yep, well they when you then go to the other shot, Phoene comes in and starts the thing by ripping off a sign saying a legal thing. And then you go to the other shot and there's another giant sign that's illegal but right here. 00:20:56 Speaker 5: Yeah, Sean asks Cory if he knows where the party is going to begin. He says, no, how would I know that then Sean tells Corey that Eric is the one throwing this party. Eric walks over and Corey tells him he wants to help with the party, but Eric won't let him. There is a second giant illegal sign right behind Eric, and apparently Phoene doesn't care about that advertising for illegal, Ray cares about the big banner. 00:21:19 Speaker 2: I also look terrible in this episode. 00:21:22 Speaker 4: You don't, Oh, my hair looks weird, I'm pale like I looked really I didn't like my clothes particularly, I looked really bizarre in this episode. 00:21:31 Speaker 2: I made a note not about your looks. Your performance was terrible. Off was terrible, and I didn't think it's a David Trainer episode. 00:21:42 Speaker 3: He's kind and I feel it because you've said this before that you noticed that you might be a little uncomfortable. 00:21:48 Speaker 2: You might have been intimidated by David. I think so. 00:21:50 Speaker 4: I didn't didn't know what to do with my hands. You are with my eyebrows. Suddenly felt like a season one I would agree. I agree with you one hundred people. 00:22:00 Speaker 3: When you opened your mouth in this scene, I was like, I literally was like, what we've like regressed? 00:22:04 Speaker 4: I think you regressed. It's like you said the same thing. She's like, wow, you're really you really don't seem comfortable. This episode was comfortable with him as a director, and. 00:22:13 Speaker 3: You didn't even know it until watching him, but it is so clear to me, like, yeah, like mccra can put you more at ease or other directors. 00:22:21 Speaker 2: He just intimidated me. Yeah, it had to have been funny because you know, you were probably had a performance at all this episode just. 00:22:28 Speaker 3: You probably your first episode you walked in. He was the man in charge, the director and me. He never got over that feeling. 00:22:34 Speaker 2: Yeah, at that. 00:22:35 Speaker 4: Age, it was I was really uncomfortable to watch this episode. For me, I had no idea what to do with my hands. I was like I was all over the place the entire time. It's really weird, Yeah, really weird. 00:22:43 Speaker 2: Because it's a good will episode. I mean it's a good a great episode. 00:22:47 Speaker 4: And the way you've been performing the last eight episodes, it would have been fun would have been fine. 00:22:52 Speaker 2: I agree, it was. 00:22:54 Speaker 4: I almost wondered, like, no joke, I was so pale and I just looked disheveled that I wondered if maybe I was sick or I was coming off of being This is the. 00:23:04 Speaker 3: Episode where we have that vampire photograph that we've seen of us that Jeff Truman has posted where I'm super white and you're super white. We all so part of the reason we all like in whiteface this entire episode. Nobody's really when I show up in that hat later, that's yeah. Sherman has posted this, and it's from this episode that he wrote, so he clearly had that photo like that night. But for whatever reason, I am like, super wonder if. 00:23:27 Speaker 5: The makeup artist was different that week. 00:23:29 Speaker 4: I don't know because I don't ever look. I didn't look like that before, and it's dell. I was I seriously, I was like, I'm hoping I was sick because there's some reason why everything's off. Yeah. 00:23:37 Speaker 5: Well, Corey threatens to tell their parents, so Eric allows Corey to help him with the party, but he says he can't tell anyone. Then Corey turns to tell Sean and Eric grabs him over the mouth from behind, and then we're in the Matthew's living room. Corey walks in and tells Eric everything is set for the party and Chubby is on board. Eric asks, so he's cool with us having the rave at his blaze and Corey clarified, Chubby is on board a cruise to Mexico. So Inger with the youth on board a cruise. 00:24:10 Speaker 4: Because a legal rave you want to have it at the one restaurant that. 00:24:16 Speaker 2: House, because there's so much room for a rave. It's so weird. 00:24:21 Speaker 5: So to make it clear, Chubby is on board a cruise, so he won't know that they're using his place to throw the party. I'm mentioning that because later it comes back up and bums me out. Because what so Cory and Eric high five and they. 00:24:39 Speaker 2: Do the pre show. You stole it and you took it from me and you use it on the show. 00:24:45 Speaker 5: I'm so much you are you just realizing it? 00:24:48 Speaker 3: Yes, I did not remember this episode. 00:24:53 Speaker 5: Please explain you, guys. I need you guys to here. 00:24:55 Speaker 2: But you took my leather jacket and you took our other jacket. We're done, Will, we're no longer. 00:25:03 Speaker 5: To your listeners and need to understand what you're talking about, all right, please, writers, you're the most inflamed, So going on. 00:25:10 Speaker 2: We have a tradition, a pre show tradition of. 00:25:12 Speaker 3: Screaming and and doing and and one of the pre show traditions is that when Will and I are announced in front of the audience. We would run out and then we would hi do that high ten and do like the head slam, like we're like a helmet, right because I'm. 00:25:28 Speaker 2: Such a good cause, I'm like the football guy. 00:25:32 Speaker 5: You're a guy, You're mister c That's what we call you around town. 00:25:36 Speaker 2: So I don't even know what that means, all right. So yeah, so come to find out, Will all these years had stolen it and no idea with a mister Ben Savage. Uh, Corey, you're like you were there that week on the episode. 00:25:58 Speaker 5: We'd also kick in those traditions and do them behind the scenes at our live show. We all screamed before our live show. And then I've seen the two of you do it there. 00:26:06 Speaker 2: Yes, so we've just revived it. That's why it's in my blood. And I am like, now I see it. 00:26:11 Speaker 5: Does does it feel tainted to you? Will you even want to do it next time? 00:26:15 Speaker 2: I'll think you're gonna have. 00:26:16 Speaker 4: To still figure we did it for seven years, so I had no idea that we did that, that we did this, Ben and I did this on the show. 00:26:23 Speaker 2: I no idea either, which came first ours? And then you took it. 00:26:27 Speaker 4: Oh, it must have been, had to have been, right, had to be. And then we started that season one. 00:26:31 Speaker 2: I assume so. 00:26:33 Speaker 3: Because we introduced after you, right, or would you introduce after me? How'd the order going for studio taping nights. 00:26:41 Speaker 4: I think I was introduced before you because you were the bigger name on the show, So I think you. 00:26:47 Speaker 3: Yeah, whoever it was, it was always it was you because you would be introduced that I would run out, I think, so I. 00:26:53 Speaker 2: Waved to the audience and then we would do that. 00:26:56 Speaker 4: And and I think that came from when we were playing football with Home Improvement back in season one, because we're on the football teams. 00:27:01 Speaker 2: Are like, yeah, that's funny, and so yeah, I saw that. I was like, oh man, we just did the yeah. 00:27:08 Speaker 3: Took the jacket later in the episode, my Jack. I didn't remember this episode at all. I knew that we had the monkeys on and I remembered them singing, but like, yeah, And I think part of the reason is I'm not in this episode. 00:27:23 Speaker 2: This might be the smallest Sean part since like season one. Yeah, you know, like. 00:27:30 Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I think I basically said every line I'm going to say on this entire show already, like in the first scene, so that's why I clearly didn't remember it. 00:27:38 Speaker 5: But yeah, well they do the will Rider behind the scenes high ten and a head slam, and then they say they're the Matthews brothers, and then the doorbell rings and mister Lawrence aka Jedediah aka Peter Tork of the Monkeys walks in with a guitar. Jedediah says it's harsh for Corey to call him mister Lawrence, and Corey says it's weird calling his girlfriend's dad by his first name, not just because his name is Jeddadiah. My mom was a massive fan of the Monkeys, like a massive fan of the Monkeys, and my mom was a little too young to have it. Like most people had a crush on Davy Jones or Mickey Dolan's. My mom was the youngest of three and her crush was always Peter Tork. He wore footy pajamas, he was kind of goofy, and my mom just remember as a little girl, my mom just thought, oh my gosh, he's so cute. So the fact that Peter Tork was playing my father Peter Tork, I think is the only person my mom has ever asked on Boy Meets World if she could take a picture with It's cool. The only person whoever guests starred that My mom was like, can I get a picture with you? 00:28:44 Speaker 4: And I think I've talked about this before too. His mom or dad, I don't know which one was one of my parents' professors at law school. 00:28:53 Speaker 2: Right, so there was yeah, the world coming back. It was interesting. 00:28:57 Speaker 6: Well. 00:28:58 Speaker 5: Amy walks in and asks Jedadiah to the guitar. He pulls it out and she says Alan will love it, but it doesn't look done. It looks unfinished. Jedediah admits he spent too much time on the guitar case. Amy reminds him their anniversary is tomorrow and she's giving this to him as a gift. She asks Jedediah to speak in the kitchen so they can talk about reality. Corey asks how Eric could plan the rave the same day as their parents aniversary. 00:29:20 Speaker 2: He's all excited to talk about reality. 00:29:24 Speaker 5: Let's do it. Corey asks Eric how could he plan the rave the same day as their parents anniversary and Eric says he's not in considerate. He had no idea when their anniversary was which I think is very fute little joke. Alan walks in from the upstage French doors carrying a bathtub with Mickey Dolans from the Monkeys and may be better known as the Tongues. 00:29:44 Speaker 3: Now I thought. It turns out later that isn't the case. But I thought they were trying to be secretive about sneaking this giant tub. 00:29:51 Speaker 2: But I guess. Yeah. 00:29:52 Speaker 3: The Rusty was like screaming at the top of his lungs, was like, but the way they kind of bring it in and they're looking around. 00:29:59 Speaker 2: I thought it was surprise, but then she seems to know about it, so yeah, well he. 00:30:04 Speaker 5: Was screaming at the top of his lungs because he knew it wasn't written in the script for her to come back in from the kitchen, but it was supposed to be. It was supposed to be. They are looking around like I can wring this bath tub in. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's very funny. So he says it's an anniversary president for Amy and himself. It's the Turbo Deluxe Sunset Tsunami Super Spa. Alan and Gordy carry the tub upstairs. Gordy says, when you're twenty it's for romance, but at Allan's age, it's a bubbly place to read. Nicky Dolans is pretty darn. 00:30:35 Speaker 2: Funny, Jones, David's a funny. 00:30:38 Speaker 5: On the way up the stairs, Alan says, you're older than me, Gordy, and Gordy replies and very well read, which I think is a very funny, very clever. Corey asks Eric how they could forget their parents twentieth anniversary. Corey wants to buy them a present, but they put all their money into the rave. Corey suggests canceling it. Eric says they can't cancel their parents anniversary, and Corey says he meant they need to cancel the rave. Eric says, now you're talking crazy. The doorbell rings and a British man walks in, asking if this is the Matthews residence. We recognize that this man is Davy Jones of you guessed it the Monkeys, and he recognizes Corey as Amy and Allen's son from his facial features. And I thought this was a cute little inside joke too, where Corey says no one has ever felt I've looked like mine. 00:31:23 Speaker 3: I was so glad because when he says the line, you know, I recognize Am. 00:31:27 Speaker 2: I was like, what what I mean? If there's any casting that has never looked like the parents, it's Ben those two And it was like, oh, okay, at least they acknowledge it. Yeah, but yeah, and then he studied phrenology. 00:31:40 Speaker 5: Yes, the man says, clearly, no one else went to Oxford to become a phrenologist. He says he's an old friend of their parents. Amy walks into the living room and the man greets her and says she looks lovely. Amy doesn't remember who he is. He introduces himself as Reginald Fairfield. 00:31:56 Speaker 2: We did this all week. Do you remember that? 00:31:58 Speaker 3: Alway, I've had people say this to me and I have had no idea what they're talking about. Yes, and then I heard it. 00:32:04 Speaker 5: I was like, oh, we said Rege Reginald Fairfield. 00:32:11 Speaker 2: I mean forever, no clue what this is. Ben's English accident is perfect. 00:32:17 Speaker 3: When he says it the first time, I was like, oh, he sounds exactly like the dude, like it's a perfect impression. 00:32:23 Speaker 7: It's so good, it's really funny. 00:32:35 Speaker 5: Alan walks down the stairs and asks who's at the door, and Corey says, Rege Reginald Fairfield. Reginald tells Alan he's from his college backpacking trip through Europe. Europe, Alan told reg if he was ever in the States, there would be a couch with his name on it. Corey looks at the couch and says, look Rechal like the couch says his name, and then we are in the Matthew's kitchen. Reginald Fairfield is showing Corey a photo album with photos from the seventies. Regg asks Alan if he remembers, and Alan admits he can't even remember what he had for breakfast. 00:33:07 Speaker 2: The sweater in this scene is awesome, gorgeous. 00:33:09 Speaker 4: Is the kind of brown one I guess basically, I just want to be Alan Matthews realizing this now, it's like he's just the coolest. 00:33:19 Speaker 2: He's like this great dad. He's all good looking in his cool clothes. Writer. 00:33:23 Speaker 5: If you started wearing clogs, it wouldn't surprise me at all. Do you remember Rusty's clogs? 00:33:28 Speaker 2: I do remember Rusty's clogs. I do remember. 00:33:33 Speaker 5: So then Corey looks at the photos and asks who the sexy babe is in the wet Tang tap and he realizes it's Amy. She runs over and closes the book. 00:33:42 Speaker 2: It's just weird. 00:33:42 Speaker 3: And with the weird, you know, I think they should have saved it just for Will because like Corey talking about a sexy babe is like the least Corey thing I've ever. 00:33:55 Speaker 2: Heard, do you know what I mean? Especially in front of his parents. Is Corey really going to be like, who's that babe? 00:34:02 Speaker 4: No? 00:34:02 Speaker 2: Like, I established this character and it's just to get that joke, and it's like, ugh, I know it does so Amy is so hot? 00:34:09 Speaker 3: Still, why would you ever not be able to see that your mom had an amazing body when she still has an amazing body. 00:34:17 Speaker 2: Like, it doesn't work. It doesn't work on any level. 00:34:20 Speaker 5: No, it doesn't. I really agree with you that it doesn't work coming from Corey. If Eric just walked it in and opened it and realized it that it. 00:34:28 Speaker 3: Works, it would have been better to just have Corey be like, oh my gosh, like I commment about yeah, mom, like I don't want to see you in a baby seat, and then have Eric come in. It would have been and then he could have just been who's that babe? And the audience would have been knowing, and Corey would have been knowing and would yeah, yep completely. 00:34:44 Speaker 5: So Reg goes to freshen up and Amy asks how long he will be staying with them, and he says he'll stay as long as he's welcome. After Reg goes upstairs, Alan calls him annoying. I also like the joke that he has right before that where he goes great, he left twenty minutes ago. 00:34:56 Speaker 2: He left twenty minutes ago, Such a good line. 00:34:58 Speaker 5: Amy reminds him he's one who guided them through Europe, and Alan says he didn't guide them, he followed the followed us. Alan walks upstairs to help Red find softer towels and Eric walks in. He's on the phone telling someone the details to the secret party. Amy is in the kitchen, so Eric pretends he doesn't know what he's talking about, and Amy gets up and leaves. Corey hits Eric in the head. Amy heard everything he said, but Eric says she doesn't know what he's talking about. Eric wants to go to Chubby's and give him a deposit. What Chubby is on board a cruise to Mexico and doesn't know the party? 00:35:36 Speaker 2: Why? 00:35:37 Speaker 5: Who and where is he going to Chubby's to give who a deposit? 00:35:40 Speaker 4: What? 00:35:41 Speaker 5: Are we talking about here? 00:35:43 Speaker 8: Yeah, you know, yeah, I mean, you know, Parents World just has either like ironclad logic or absolutely no none logic. 00:36:01 Speaker 2: This is an un logic episode. It's like we kind of only have two modes. 00:36:04 Speaker 3: It's like a complete farce where nothing makes sense and we just want to get the monkeys. 00:36:09 Speaker 5: And you just want to have fun. 00:36:10 Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know. 00:36:11 Speaker 3: Like now that we're going through it and hearing you say all these like little one liners, there's some really funny stuff. 00:36:17 Speaker 2: It's a great stuff. But yes, as a whole, like, I just like baffled by this episode. It's weird. 00:36:25 Speaker 4: Just the whole thing is very bizarre. And maybe that's that's why my performance is bad. Maybe that's one of the reasons, is because it's just so out of whatever the hell. 00:36:33 Speaker 2: I can't I don't even know. It just feels it does to me. 00:36:38 Speaker 5: It is definitely one of those episodes that has enough funny moments and the fact that I like the whole the premise alone of just the two brothers being feeling slightly different about what they need to do about the party and trying to make it both a rave and a parent's anniversary thing that I like and it has enough funny one liners in it that overall I liked the episode. I can to me it's it redeemed itself. This part bummed me out because he could have had to go to Chubby's for anything, like he could have had to go to Chubby's to measure for a dance floor or anything else. He could have had to correct install a his goo bawl, anything that he could have. He needs to get out, which is the point. He needs to go do something and they need to get him out. But why when you've already set up the entire ideas that no one's even going to know this illegal party is going Chubby's not going to know that it's going on there, Why do you say you have to go give Chubby a deposit? It's it just weirds me out. But whatever, I still overall, I know I'm going to be the only one, But still. 00:37:34 Speaker 2: I want to do a prequel movie. That's Allen and Amy Europe. Oh seven? What happened happened with Reginald Fairfield? What happened? They were going country to country? Where were they? 00:37:49 Speaker 3: Twenty two twenty three? They're at their twenty wedding anniversaries. Yeah, they got married. 00:37:54 Speaker 2: What was their life? 00:37:55 Speaker 3: Like, how awesome that that would be years? 00:37:59 Speaker 4: Oh moms, yeah, that would have been the seventies because I think Eric was supposed to be born in seventy eight. Yeah, yeah, so if they were married, for you, so seventy four they got married to figure this is like seventy two. 00:38:11 Speaker 2: They're in more in Europe. Yeah, hell yeah. 00:38:14 Speaker 3: It kind of looks like just the feeling is like called me by your name, Like that's sort of like nineteen seventies, like washed out Italian countryside. 00:38:23 Speaker 2: Right right right? 00:38:24 Speaker 5: Yeah, Alan for sure brought a guitar. Maybe maybe exactly. He wouldn't have gone anywhere without it. 00:38:31 Speaker 2: I would have been like a link later film. Yeah, they just walk into the whole time to. 00:38:35 Speaker 4: Walk into Reginald behind it with regend Yes, I love it. 00:38:41 Speaker 2: That's why they don't want to remember Reginald because of what actually went to. 00:38:44 Speaker 4: Exactly what happened. Eric might actually be Davy Jones's Yes here we. 00:38:48 Speaker 5: Go getting ourselves out of this scene. Eric opens the photo album and asks who the sexy babe in the tank top is, and Corey breaks the news that that's their mom. Eric is disgusted and runs out of the kitchen, and then we're in matthews living room where Redge Reginald Fairfield is on the phone with his mother because he has a free phone. We hear him say that upstairs. Alan overhears this and rolls his eyes as he walks down the staircase to tell Amy Reg unpacked a lot of clothes. Amy tells Alan forget about Reg because the boys are throwing them a surprise anniversary party, and Corey overhears this. Everyone is overhearing so many things in this episode. Yeah, we're a farce, right, that's like the whole thing. 00:39:32 Speaker 3: Oh, also, we just have to go back for a moment because I did take a note Will your phone acting is pretty bad. 00:39:37 Speaker 2: It's not turn it off? Can you just do the old? Yeah, it's terrible. 00:39:41 Speaker 4: It's the facting in the show is not good, not good. 00:39:46 Speaker 2: And I know we've pointed out Ben's but I thought you was off button, especially in an episode where we reference call waiting, that was off the button. 00:39:57 Speaker 5: So then Gordy walks down the stairs and as the hot tubs up and running, Alan, you. 00:40:02 Speaker 2: Think he's been there, Like, how much time do you think has passed? Because did he art it? 00:40:07 Speaker 4: Okay, So he put up an entire hot tub built the surround like, did they already have the surrounding thing built? 00:40:13 Speaker 5: Davy Jones had already asked for towels. Alan had already gone up there to help him with towels. He unpacked a lot of clothes. So so an hour or two, I'd say an hour or two, Alan was in his you know, Alan, Yeah. 00:40:26 Speaker 2: I just want to want to install things in my home. 00:40:31 Speaker 5: Now, you guys are betting too deep. Now this is taking the logic police way too far. I have to stop it. 00:40:40 Speaker 2: I understand. 00:40:41 Speaker 5: Alan wants to go test the hot tub out with. 00:40:42 Speaker 3: All the lyrics to my girl, do you would you really have brought a harmonica to. 00:40:48 Speaker 5: The room. 00:40:50 Speaker 2: All this stuff later, because I've got one. That's great. 00:40:54 Speaker 5: But Gordy says, the little English guy is doing laps, which again is another great one liner and a visual. It's very funny. Then we're in Chubby's. Corey runs in and tells Eric the rave is canceled because their parents found out. Eric responds, Mama, Mia, why why why? 00:41:12 Speaker 2: Because he mentioned your mom? Right, it's Italian Italian question mark. Okay. 00:41:17 Speaker 3: The music in the background of this scene is the most insane thing I've ever heard in my life. I don't know what's happening, but like maybe Ray Colcord was just feeling musically this episode because it's this one. 00:41:30 Speaker 2: And then later there's like a record scratching hip hop track going in the background that it's insane, but no this and I don't my question was and I couldn't look up like in time like other Chubby scenes, is there usually like an electric guitar solo in the background music of Chubbies. We listen to it. 00:41:46 Speaker 3: It is like the music for the Chubbies. I don't know if this is normal for every Chubby scene. It's like a guitar going, what is happening? It's like there's a. 00:41:58 Speaker 2: Full on like it's so distracting when you have headphones on and not through your computer, but anyway, and then later during the rave there's also some great music. It's like like the record scratching Well, you run a legal rave with a legal underground scratching music. Oh my god. 00:42:23 Speaker 5: Okay, so you say Mamma me, which no reason understand. And then Corey tells Eric their parents think they're throwing a surprise anniversary party for them. So now they have to Eric asks what are they nuts? Corey tells Eric they can plan an anniversary party in less than twenty four hours. He tries to do the Matthews Brothers High ten, but Eric walks away and says they're great, big stupid heads, leaving Corey alone in Chevy's. So then we are in the school hallway. Corey's on the phone with his aunt, who can't make it to the party. He asks her if she has a heart, and Corey says, oh, well, I hope that donor comes through for you. 00:43:00 Speaker 4: Uh. 00:43:01 Speaker 5: And then Corey walks around, saying he needs adults. Mister Turner walks down the stairs and Corey says he's just like family. Turner remarks that never just come right out and ask for a favor, do you. Cory asks him to come to his parents anniversary party, and when Turner asks when it is, Cory says, six hours, no jeans, bring a presents? 00:43:19 Speaker 2: Great? Would we have we ever seen mister Turner without jeans? Though? 00:43:23 Speaker 4: Just no? 00:43:24 Speaker 2: I don't think so does he show up with jeans? And I can't remember? Now he's got a suit. He's wearing a suit. 00:43:29 Speaker 5: Yeah, So then mister foene walks up and Corey asks what he's doing tonight, and Phoeney says, he's going to the mall with Sean Hunter. 00:43:36 Speaker 2: Favorite line, hanging with Sean. Hanging with Sean the mall. Oh, it's just pert Oh, I love it. It's like to become the. 00:43:47 Speaker 4: One liner guy. He throws out a great line and he leaves, it's great and he just doesn't have to do anything. It's just it's great. 00:43:55 Speaker 2: God hanging with Sean Hunter at the mall so good. 00:44:00 Speaker 4: Well. 00:44:01 Speaker 5: Corey says that's the sense of humor that makes him the life of the party, and Corey invites Feenie to the anniversary party. Reginald calls out mister Feenie's name and walks toward him in the hallway. Corey asks what reg is doing there in mister Feeney's and he says that mister Feenie invited him for lunch. Phoene says he didn't ask him for lunch, he just asked if he was staying with the Matthews. Reginald won't take no for an answer and tells Feenie he'll sit in on all his classes he has before lunch. This guy's really annoying. 00:44:26 Speaker 2: Yeah, in a fun way, So in. 00:44:28 Speaker 5: A super fun way. And then Topanga and Sean walk up to Corey telling him they found a band for the party. Old guys in their thirties, she says, but she thinks they'll be okay as a group of people who are in their mid forties. I take offense for all of us. 00:44:43 Speaker 2: Good, thank you. 00:44:45 Speaker 5: Sean says he got a guy that can jump out of a cake for six bucks, and Corey is shocked that Sean paid a guy six dollars, and then Sean clarifies the man paid him what I don't know but money. 00:44:55 Speaker 2: It's just some creepy out. 00:45:01 Speaker 5: And this is a moment where after you say it, you have a hard time recovering and you are breaking. 00:45:07 Speaker 4: Ye. 00:45:07 Speaker 2: I yes. And I do not. 00:45:10 Speaker 5: Remember Writer breaking this often. 00:45:12 Speaker 4: I don't either, and it's it's more often than I thought it was. 00:45:16 Speaker 5: I'm shocked how often writer is breaking. And I'm like, I don't remember, No, I don't. I have so many fun memories with Writer, but I don't remember you being like I can't control my laughter while we're working there. 00:45:29 Speaker 3: Yeah, really, it's a finding characteristic of me. That's like what I mean, that's what Ben was always so bothered by. I mean, we loved it, but we would make each other laugh constantly. 00:45:42 Speaker 2: We could never get through. I mean that's why Will and I couldn't do a scene together. Beau. Yeah, I remember that, but that was I remember it making the show this month. I know what it was. I know where it's like, oh I see you. 00:45:53 Speaker 4: It's like, oh, you're gonna go, You're gonna go like, yeah, I'm doing this with my hands and you're and you're like about to break. 00:45:59 Speaker 2: It's really it's really funny. I was always having fun. Yeah, fun. 00:46:05 Speaker 3: I mean I also think there's a level of like I can get away with it because Sean is for the most you know, it's like I only really have two modes. It's like either I'm a complete goof or I'm like yeah, way very serious. 00:46:18 Speaker 5: Right, Yeah, No, it's it's very fun. It's one of those moments where when we watch it, I think, oh man, look how much fun we're having. Like I can bring myself back to those but it's so I do not remember you breaking this often and it making the show. It means like, was that the best take? 00:46:33 Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I could never keep it together. I could be funny, keep it together. 00:46:36 Speaker 5: So then Eric walks down the stairs with balloons in his hand. He got three hundred balloons printed with the words Happy twentieth Amy and Ellen. There's a background actor and a very cool crosscut Cross Colors button up, by the way, Did you notice him? 00:46:50 Speaker 2: Nope? I did not. 00:46:51 Speaker 5: Oh, okay, it is so sick. 00:46:53 Speaker 2: Cross Colors button Up. 00:46:54 Speaker 5: It's a brand that was very popular in the early nineties, and it's very bright and has like a lot of stripes, and it was it was like, it was very cool. It was a little niche sh it's made. It's made a comeback now. But he's just he just really stood out to me. I was like, whoa, look at that guy. 00:47:10 Speaker 2: Missed a joke there, Danielle. What it's a little niece. 00:47:13 Speaker 5: You should have said, I know, you're right, it's a little niece. 00:47:15 Speaker 6: It's okay. 00:47:16 Speaker 5: Well, Corey takes the balloons and storms off to go get the money back. He says he'll just do everything, and then Eric walks by two girls talking about the rave being canceled. One of the girls says, the guy throwing it must have woossed out. She says, just once she wants to meet a guy with guts at this school and she walks away. Eric yells that the guy probably had a good reason and he was probably doing something nice for his mommy and daddy, and then he looks around to see who may have overheard him, but this time no one hears anything. 00:47:43 Speaker 2: I make a big like I am pushing it this episode. I'm trying. I'm truemmer. And then we are a Chubby's. Did you guys were that we ever had exterior jobbing? 00:48:02 Speaker 4: No? 00:48:02 Speaker 5: Yeah, I did not remember that. And I also am only going to refer to you as Fedora Sean. 00:48:09 Speaker 2: When you had This is the where we have the like photograph that's that Sherman's posted a bunch where I'm like going like this and completely white faced, and we're always like, am I in my joker costume? 00:48:21 Speaker 4: Yeah, it looks like I was just going to the interview to the vampire, you know, screening or something. 00:48:26 Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I just said caked on makeup because at this point in the show, my skin is awful, So I think they were just covering me in makeup and yeah, made me super white, but. 00:48:35 Speaker 2: I was white too. I was pale too. Though, yeah, so yeah, I don't know, something was weird, but this is a weird set. I just I don't remember this set's saying it. I was like, I don't like the way it looks, and like the way and then he was there. I know, he's so good, I know, but he's just kind of like just pops up like all Ethan's there. 00:48:53 Speaker 1: Was like, he's okay, yeah, he's been in season three though, right, ye, yes, yes. 00:49:01 Speaker 4: I say yes too, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, but it's weird to just like we're now, like what sixty percent through the episode, he hasn't been anywhere, and then all of a sudden he's working the door. 00:49:11 Speaker 3: It was kind of well, no, it's funny because I saw him in the background of a shot and I was like, gout, that guy looks just like Ethan. 00:49:17 Speaker 2: And then I was like, oh, it is. 00:49:20 Speaker 5: So Foedora Sean to Penga and Corey walking through the gate to Penga congratulates Corey on pulling off the anniversary party in twenty four hours. I'm wearing the same jacket I've worn in every other episode where there's been the Monkeys or a band playing. It's my Monkey's jacket. They look shocked, and the camera cuts to Eric talking to a guy with a red mohawk. Guys, there are also people wearing tie die and sunglasses and earrings. 00:49:48 Speaker 3: Oh myy a legal rave. There's a shiny cowboy hat. Yep, there is an all orange outfit with a matching. 00:49:55 Speaker 9: Orange guy or an orange you know what, I'm the only one, I guarantee you from the nineties to me when I saw that guy's out and I was like that I could see that guy with like a pacifier in his mouth, like running around. 00:50:06 Speaker 3: But everybody else, I'm like, what is this? Is this a biker gig? 00:50:10 Speaker 2: Is this thing? 00:50:11 Speaker 5: Rock one? There was definitely doing a j I guarantee you doing. 00:50:16 Speaker 2: A somebody's doing a j there a jack. Two tough guys that Alan talks to. One of them has like a whistle around his neck. 00:50:23 Speaker 5: I was trying his rat whistle. 00:50:25 Speaker 4: Yeah. 00:50:28 Speaker 3: I mean, actually, if you think about like a toy whistle was kind of ravy like because raves were all about like kids. 00:50:34 Speaker 5: How many raves have you been taking? 00:50:36 Speaker 2: One rave in my life? You guys? Okay, it's one more than I said I was gonna say. Somehow, that's more than I've been to. You didn't go to raves? No, I thought I was the only I thought this whole conversation. I thought you guys would have been to a bunch of raves and me. You thought I went to your will No, Danielle. 00:50:51 Speaker 3: I definitely thought you went to raves. But maybe you were too young. They probably like, was he like ninety six twelve? 00:50:58 Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna finished seventh grade? Go to a rave? I keep going. Okay, Yeah, I went to a rave. I allowed to watch nine O two one, Oh why I win? 00:51:08 Speaker 5: But I have been at a rave in like ninety eight little fish until I was nineteen. My first boyfriend was Mormon. I have my second boyfriend was gay. I don't know which. 00:51:19 Speaker 2: You definitely went to. 00:51:23 Speaker 3: Clubs on Sunset Strip and when you were like eighteen or nineteen. 00:51:27 Speaker 5: Five days after I moved out of my parents all five days, five days after I moved out of my parents house, okay, up into eighteen eighteen and five days. 00:51:36 Speaker 2: Okay, so eighteen. 00:51:37 Speaker 3: And five days, which would have been nineteen ninety eight or ninety nine. 00:51:41 Speaker 2: Right, we're raves not happening anymore, but really not? 00:51:45 Speaker 5: Would you know I was that? 00:51:47 Speaker 2: I was. 00:51:47 Speaker 5: I feel like so. 00:51:48 Speaker 3: Many people went to raves around me, and like I thought you guys would have Yeah, yeah. 00:51:54 Speaker 4: You seemed to be more of the rave kind of guy, righter than the Chans. 00:52:00 Speaker 2: Definitely rave ravel. You could have dance, thought everybody. 00:52:05 Speaker 5: There were few shades away from being in the insane clown pose. 00:52:11 Speaker 2: And I wore total squares. 00:52:15 Speaker 3: And so the only time, the only time I went through the rave was in San Francisco and it was a I actually this is I think it was called light Seed. That was like a party, but it wasn't like an illegal thing. It was just a giant warehouse where people dance. A lot of people were in ecstasy, not me. I was like the designated driver for the night, you know, and it was it was really boring because I didn't dance and I didn't do drugs. 00:52:40 Speaker 2: Oh I did meet a girl. I did meet a girl that I ended up dating. 00:52:43 Speaker 5: Okay, okay, you go. 00:52:45 Speaker 2: Was was she on drugs? Yes? She was on drugs okay. And she was much older than me. Okay, because I was only I was. 00:52:52 Speaker 3: Probably you probably had to be twenty one to be in there, so I was probably illegal to be there because I was. 00:52:56 Speaker 5: And the drugs were illegal. So that's exactly what I'm saying. The actual d was a league, the actual parties not gotcha? 00:53:03 Speaker 2: Gotcha? 00:53:04 Speaker 5: All right? Anyway, someone there's doing a jay and all kinds of things are going on. It's also worth noting that we now see Ethan Supple as a bouncer at the door. Corey asks Eric what's going on, and Eric tells him they're throwing both parties at once. Corey starts stressing out their parents are on their way over. Eric says they're gonna have a blast because they're fun people, which I actually think is good sitcom logic for Eric, sure, like, yeah, they're gonna have a good time, even if they don't know who some of the people are. They're fun people. They're gonna have a blast at this party. Why not? 00:53:34 Speaker 2: Well then, yeah, I mean there is I think this is the problem of the episode for me, is like the tension between like Corey and Eric getting in trouble or not getting in trouble. Like there are times when we're supposed to take that kind of seriously, and then there are times when we're just like, Eh, who cares? And I kind of wish the episode had decided to go one way or the other more wholeheartedly, because it's kind of having it both ways, you know. It's like like in this scene, Eric's like, well, get away with it, and I was like, yeah, they probably will. 00:54:02 Speaker 3: Like half the party is Alan and a family family, so they're gonna be fine, and like you could just be like, I don't know, some other people showed up. 00:54:09 Speaker 2: It's a weird you know. But then like then the resolution you do have like kind of a serious moment with your parents, and I was like, well, why do we need the serious moment. Let me just make it a romp, like let's just have fun. 00:54:21 Speaker 5: Yeah, because there is the idea that like nobody even questions. I guess the expectation is just of course you rented out Chubby's for our anniversary, as opposed to being like we had we're having a party here and these other people are having a different party. It's a shared space, but we invited these people for you. That's not really ever explained. I do like though, and we'll get to it in just a little bit, but I do like actually that the that the issue is not about you wanted to throw a party and now you're in trouble for throwing a party. It's about how unimportant the parents feel. But they thought. 00:54:54 Speaker 2: That they wouldn't even have one day. 00:54:56 Speaker 5: Yeah that there wasn't even you know, like Allan says, all you could have it was a card and we would have been happy. 00:55:03 Speaker 2: Just think about us over yourselves for one. 00:55:05 Speaker 5: Day, just one time, for one time. 00:55:08 Speaker 6: Yeah. 00:55:19 Speaker 5: So Frankie stops a grandma at the door because there's a ten dollars cover hard. 00:55:22 Speaker 2: This made me laugh so hard. That's Grandma. 00:55:27 Speaker 5: Eric has to tell him that's Aunt Liz. 00:55:29 Speaker 2: Who is she brother or who is she sister of? 00:55:32 Speaker 4: Who's a hundred? It's like she's either to be your aunt. She's got to be either and she's a great aunt. She could be a great aunt. You call your great aunts just aunt? So yes, because it's like, man, that's what's like, Wow, that's aunt that Tanya's mom from She strikes back. 00:55:52 Speaker 2: Seriously, that's what I wrote down. I was like, how is Aunt Liz one hundred? It's amazing. 00:55:58 Speaker 5: I just love like ten Corey hands. Frankie listened names and say it says those are the only people who are allowed to come in from now on, And Frankie asks Corey's name to decide if he can let him in, and Corey says, ah, come on and runs in great, great funny bit. Cory runs down the stairs and tells Stepanga they have to clear out the ravers before it's too late. She tells them it's too late, and then the camera pans to all of the people there, and Corey is horrifying and opening at all, just nothing. 00:56:29 Speaker 2: It's actually some of them have weird hair. Someone's wearing a bandana. Can you believe it? 00:56:35 Speaker 5: Old people on one side and younger people are on the other side. 00:56:38 Speaker 2: And nobody. 00:56:40 Speaker 4: Music's at a sensible level, and nobody's breaking anything. 00:56:44 Speaker 2: No one's doing a jay or we can't. 00:56:46 Speaker 5: Tell totally totally manageable. Looks fine, looks great. 00:56:52 Speaker 2: I mean, what do you think this was? 00:56:53 Speaker 3: Do you think it was like a network a collision of network notes plus located? Like how do you not make it a party? Like the whole because it's something. 00:57:03 Speaker 4: In fifty something year olds writing what they think it's going to be. It's exactly what you said at the beginning. So it's like, well, it's a rave. It's a regular party of people standing around, but they've got yellow hair. Like. 00:57:13 Speaker 5: I also think though, that because Eric is responsible for it, it's not like, oh no, we actually accidentally picked a place where there's a rave going on, but because Eric is the one responsible for it. Network notes wise, this can't be a party with illegal things going on. We can't have one of our lead characters be nefarious, like he still has to be a good boy, So it has to be look so close but not really anything. And the way they decided him to do this is ne. 00:57:44 Speaker 4: On colors exactly, and extras that look like they're in their thirties. 00:57:51 Speaker 2: That was the other Like, okay, so Fedora. 00:57:54 Speaker 5: Sean runs up to Tapanga and Corey telling them the cheerleaders are chocolate wrestling in the kitchen. Cory says he has to stop them, and Sean says, okay, but I need a lot of whipped cream in a very large spoon, which is very cute. I don't it's funny, funny, funny. Cory says he's going to intercept his parents upstairs and tell the parties at the restaurant across the street to pay on foot or Shawn need to grab the anniversary guests and meet them there. Eric walks in with a girl named Wanda. He says she's invited to an exclusive party and he's only inviting. 00:58:27 Speaker 2: Girls named Wonda. 00:58:30 Speaker 5: Corey pulls Eric away to speak with him. Eric is excited because Wonda is there and doesn't even go to their school. That's how big the rave is. 00:58:39 Speaker 4: What. 00:58:40 Speaker 5: Gordy and Reg walk down the stairs and tell the boys their parents have arrived upstairs. Reg thanks Gordy for the ride and said Gordy says he didn't have a choice because Reg was just sitting in his car and I know it's played for last last, but this man seems like a serial killer, does a little bit. He's just absolutely crazy, just sitting in Gordy's car. Corey runs up to the stage and bangs on the drum to get everyone's attention. He says this party has a wedding anniversary theme. He tells everyone to yell surprise at the best happy couple who walks down the stairs. Then he cuts the lights. Everyone yells surprise at two people, and when the lights go on it's Turner and Feeney. Turner jokes with Corey that English class will have a ten dollars cover tomorrow morning. 00:59:25 Speaker 2: In the background, music goes crazy. 00:59:28 Speaker 5: Oh really is it? 00:59:28 Speaker 2: Oh? It's a record scratching Yeah, pop? 00:59:31 Speaker 5: What'd a rave? 00:59:34 Speaker 2: Yeah? 00:59:35 Speaker 5: Amy and Alan are stuck upstairs because Frankie won't let them in they're not on the list. Corey intercepts and tells Frankie to forget everything he's ever said. Frankie then tells all the Ravers they're allowed in. They all pushed past Corey and Amy and Allan. Eric runs up and grabs their parents, saying they can get anything past them. Corey says, nope, it's too late to try and save this, but Eric insists and tells Amy and Allan to go downstairs and just pretend to be surprised. He walks them down the stairs and they do look surprised. Alan asks who these people are and Eric says, dad, does family mean nothing to you? Feoene then comes up to Corey and tells him it's quite the party. He says, everyone is raving. Mister Feenie won't tell his parents as long as the man with the neon mohawk doesn't touch him. 01:00:19 Speaker 4: Okay, okay, okay, all right, sir, okay, all right, you. 01:00:26 Speaker 5: Don't check okay. Alan asks Cory how they're related to two guys standing in a corner. One of them is dressed a little like a pirate by the way. Eric makes up a lie that they are the kids of the uncle who Alan had a big blowout with. There's funny, Yeah, this is funny. There are some slacker raver kids that are dancing by the jukebox that. 01:00:43 Speaker 2: Are having a blest. 01:00:46 Speaker 5: They are just going to town. 01:00:48 Speaker 2: There's always two or three. 01:00:49 Speaker 4: There's always every scene where there's a couple that are just really take really dancing. Well. 01:00:54 Speaker 5: Then Alan walks up to the two kids and tells them it's his fault about what happened between him and their dad, and then realizes the. 01:01:01 Speaker 3: Guy with the whistle on yep, oh, which she should be at this point, Yes, exactly. 01:01:06 Speaker 5: He realize this. They have no idea what he's talking about. Frankie and Amy are talking and he pulls out a watch as an anniversary gift. It's Amy's watch. That's how he knew she'd like it. He apparently stole it from her. Again, cute, cute little bit. 01:01:20 Speaker 2: It's great. Alan walks up to you noticed when Ethan walks away checking Amy out? No, doesn't, she checks her out as he walks it's amazing you guys would see it. I was like, oh my god. Even He's like totally looks back, like yeah, yeah, because it sets up the dance later, like it is so funny. 01:01:48 Speaker 5: Alan walks up to Amy and asks if she's having a good time at their party. She says yes, and so does he. Eric and Corey are walking together and Corey says they may just get away with this. Eric brags about them being John at the Legends tomorrow, and then Alan pops up behind them, saying, and the best part is your parents don't have a clue. 01:02:07 Speaker 2: Woh wom they knew? They knew? 01:02:10 Speaker 5: Next thing we see is Alan pushing the boys up the stairs. Corey admits they tried turning the party into an anniversary surprise, and he stayed up all night inviting people. 01:02:19 Speaker 2: Okay, wait, I need to stop very quickly. I'm sorry. 01:02:21 Speaker 4: I need to go back because to show how I didn't know where we were in this scene, but to show just how much I regressed as an actor in this episode. This they were going, Corey and I are going up the stairs and he stops and says, just how big a. 01:02:36 Speaker 2: Something are you? I can't read my writing? 01:02:40 Speaker 4: It looks like I wrote dick, but that can't be right. Okay, So just I think it's jerk. How big big a jerk are I'm mouthing. 01:02:46 Speaker 2: The words along with him again? 01:02:49 Speaker 4: Damn. It is very sudden. But even Sue was like, you're saying the words again. I've gone straight backwards. I was literally mouthing the way. It's really subtle, but it's absolutely there. So I am once again saying the words as Ben is saying the words. 01:03:06 Speaker 2: Yeah, oh my god. Yep, straight backwards anyway. 01:03:11 Speaker 5: So yeah, Alan says they could have just gotten them a card that would have shown some thought. Amy says, this just shows that their friends mean more to them than their parents. Eric says it isn't that he just wanted one night where he'd be remembered. Amy says, so. 01:03:36 Speaker 2: It's like when your parents tell you they're disappointed. 01:03:39 Speaker 5: The audience goes, yeah, that's the worst. 01:03:42 Speaker 2: You can feel that in your gut. When your parents say something like that to you, it's like, oh, yeah, terrible. 01:03:47 Speaker 5: Corey apologizes to Alan and Eric tells them it's not Corey's fault. Alan tells them it'd be nice to do something for their parents every once in a while, he walks away to find Amy, who are going they're going to help collect the relatives to bring them to their house. And then jeded I shows up with the guitar and he says he hopes it isn't too late. He gets a big audience applause, yes. 01:04:05 Speaker 3: Which is so this is the entrances are so off on this episode because I was wondering earlier, like why they didn't get applause when they all appeared, but we kind of blew through them that Matthew's living room, and then now they get applause, or because that's the way he's dressed, right, It's. 01:04:24 Speaker 5: The way he's dressed. And I think the writers are hoping that the audience is going to put it that the audience has been sitting with bated breath hoping for a monkey's performance, and when he arrives now kind of dressed for a party, holding a guitar case, the idea is, let's drum up this anticipation by acting excited now. Because also I was thinking like maybe the first time we see any of them in that Matthew's living room, maybe it wasn't in front of a studio audience. 01:04:53 Speaker 2: That's it must have been. But this backdoor, this back. 01:04:56 Speaker 5: This front yard of Chubby's was definitely not in front of the audience. 01:04:59 Speaker 3: I think it's when Davy shows up in the front door. 01:05:04 Speaker 2: He should have gotten applause, yes, because the other two have been on the show before. 01:05:07 Speaker 3: When he likes when they open the door and there he is, it's kind of awkward that there's nothing there. Yeah, I think there wasn't an audience. 01:05:14 Speaker 2: I think you're right. There couldn't have. 01:05:15 Speaker 4: Been, because would always shoot the living room and kitchen stuff in front of the audience, because it was right in front of the audience, an audience. No, I'm saying there must not have been an audience there for some reason, which is odd because we normally always shot those in front. 01:05:31 Speaker 2: Of the audience. Something. 01:05:31 Speaker 5: Yeah, it feels weird, but so yeah, he gets a big audience applause, and Jedediah walks down the stairs to give the guitar to Corey and Eric's parents. Corey drags Eric downstairs and says, this is it. Corey runs up to Gordy and asks what their parents wedding song was. Gordy says it was my girl. Corey says, they can have the band play it. He asks where the band went. Sean tells him Frankie sent them away since they weren't on the list. In some of the worst possible acting in Boy Meets World History, to Pang goes up to Frankie and starts punching him because he ruined the party. Jedediah interjects and asks if she's been eating meat and to Panka tells him Corey wants the band to play his parents wedding song and it's Frankie's fault the band isn't there. And then to Panga mentioned she also might have eaten a meat ball, which explain her it was funny, funny. 01:06:18 Speaker 2: Do you need to hear what you call ethan? 01:06:26 Speaker 5: That was a big movie. Yeah, Jedediah says, the equipment so. Jedediah says the equipment is still there so he can play it. Gordy says he can too. The two remember the melody, but they can't recall the lyrics. 01:06:38 Speaker 2: Until they actually start to sing in the. 01:06:40 Speaker 5: Reginald Fairfield walks up to them and says he wouldn't mind helping them out. Alan and Amy are starting to walk up the stairs to leave and Corey tells them they can't leave. Amy asks for one good reason, and then my girl starts to play. 01:06:54 Speaker 2: Now, do you guys remember what happened? Do you remember what happened? 01:06:58 Speaker 4: So the story as I heard it, and I could be wrong, but I don't believe I am, was that they wanted, for the first time in a very long time, to have a full Monkeys reunion with mikesmth Y or Nesmyth Nesmyth I think his name is, I have, and they wanted to have all four of nesmuth uh. They wanted to have all four of them, and Mike, as he had done for many, many, many years, declined, we're shooting that night, and Mike comes and he's there on the set. 01:07:32 Speaker 2: He's got a big beard, and he walked up. They did like one rehearsal or. 01:07:35 Speaker 4: Whatever, and he walked up to either Michael or Jeff Sherman and said, Okay, I'll be in it, and they're like, well, we can't put you in now. I mean, we've we've rehearsed all, we're literally shooting right now. We can't possibly just throw you in. So he just sat there and watched the rest. But we were like that close to having all four of them for the first time. 01:07:56 Speaker 2: I don't know one of those apocryphals stories that I've heard it. 01:08:01 Speaker 4: I know from Sherman and from another writer that there were different people who claimed to name to. 01:08:06 Speaker 2: I remember that he was there. 01:08:07 Speaker 3: I did remember he was I'm not saying he wasn't there. 01:08:10 Speaker 2: I'm saying that like the fact that I heard, because here's the you know, here's what I can imagine happens. 01:08:16 Speaker 3: He comes to the show, he sees the thing, and and of course the fact that they're all there makes it a very close Monkeys reunion. 01:08:26 Speaker 5: That didn't he also just makes a joke, Okay, I'll do it exactly. 01:08:31 Speaker 2: The story grows in the story until maybe we could have. 01:08:34 Speaker 4: Done it to turn it down, had well, yeah, means they would have done it, he asked. 01:08:40 Speaker 2: He definitely was asked. I bet you. 01:08:42 Speaker 3: Michael and the network would have thrown him on stage and figured out a way to make it make sense. 01:08:47 Speaker 2: Maybe. Yeah, who knows, that's like the covers of like every magazine at the time, if that would think. 01:08:55 Speaker 4: But that's the story that that has been made, that's made the rounds. 01:08:59 Speaker 2: We talked about Room. There's a good boy met world rumor. So we don't know if that's true or not. But that's the story. 01:09:04 Speaker 4: And there's a bunch of writers yelling at their phones right now whether they know this the story or not. 01:09:10 Speaker 5: Yeah, or we'll get lots of emails. 01:09:12 Speaker 2: We will. 01:09:13 Speaker 5: The camera pans to the three men playing My Girl. Amy asks how they knew it was their song, and Corey says Eric told them I like that. There are these two moments where the brothers kind of protect each other in a sweet way. Alan walks Amy to the center of the floor so they can dance. Reginald, Jedediah, and Gordie are shown singing and playing the song. Alan and Amy are dancing. Eric and Wanda start dancing next to them. Eric says he always knew it would all work out. He introduces his parents to Wanda and says she's the woman he's going to spend the rest of his life with. His mom says she's better. That's his cousin Wanda. 01:09:49 Speaker 4: Yes, by the way, not to be logic police, but who's playing the drums? 01:09:56 Speaker 2: This is just no, but he's playing. 01:10:02 Speaker 5: I don't think there's what He's. 01:10:03 Speaker 3: Playing the tambourine and when he hits it at the end, you can't even hear it, like because it's offbeat. 01:10:08 Speaker 2: It doesn't When we. 01:10:09 Speaker 4: First shot this and they were they started singing the song. They sang it, they sung it live, and I looked over and we talked about this in our live show. Betsy is just staring mesmerized at the stage and I walked up to her as she's staring there, and I'm like, you're loving this, aren't you? And She's like, oh God, Davy has such a wonderful voice. 01:10:28 Speaker 9: Like she was just. 01:10:29 Speaker 2: Mesmerized by watching them. It was so cute. Why couldn't they do a monkey song? 01:10:34 Speaker 4: Like? 01:10:34 Speaker 2: Is there a reason? 01:10:36 Speaker 4: Well, I don't think there's supposed to be the monkeys, So I mean the idea that they'd get there and sing here we Come, well, I mean it would be might be a little weird if they just broke into a monkey song. 01:10:45 Speaker 2: Oh that that would be a little weird. Well what's happening? How would that be the Believer the greatest song ever? I guess is there some legal reason why they couldn't do it? 01:10:55 Speaker 4: Yeah, That's what I'm wondering, right, because yeah, why would breaking to stepping stone at or last train to Clarksville out of nowhere a single Monkey song. 01:11:06 Speaker 2: Oh, there's some great monkey song. I'm sure. 01:11:08 Speaker 3: I'm just surprised that you know, they do these like standards, and I would love to know exactly, like why because together, Yeah, you want to hear him sing one of their songs, right, isn't that the point? 01:11:20 Speaker 4: I mean you'd think, yeah, right, I think writers should play the drums in the future for the monkeys. 01:11:26 Speaker 2: Yeah. 01:11:27 Speaker 5: Oh, Eric runs away in disgust and Foodora Shan hops up immediately to go dance with Wanda, and uh, now that they're playing My Girl, this whole party's really kicking into high gear. And I guess we found the one song both ravers and olds can't get enough of. It's a cover of My Girl from three of the Four Monkeys. 01:11:46 Speaker 2: Yeh. 01:11:47 Speaker 5: Then the men end the song and the crowd cheers. They start to sing and play a Buddy Holly song called Not Fade Away, which was actually made famous by the Rolling Stones and the Grateful Dead. So another cover of not Monkey songs. And then they panned to a man who says they have a nice sound. This is a bit of an inside joke because that guy is Dave Madden. Yes, he was the manager Ruben Kincaid in the Partridge Family. 01:12:13 Speaker 2: Yes, I have no idea Madden. That's a that's a video game about football, right now, that's John He's he's founded a video game about football. You do. You haven't really never heard of the Partridge Family. Of course, I've heard the name of the Partridge Family. And I know that there were birds Danny Bonaducci and I mean they all started that David cast. 01:12:36 Speaker 4: No, yeah, come on, Yeah, this is one of the most famous shows from the seventies of all time. 01:12:41 Speaker 2: It's about a musical family. 01:12:43 Speaker 4: That's a he was an actor who played he was a manager who played their manager. Yeah, he played Ruben Kincaid. 01:12:49 Speaker 2: And were they actually a family like in real life? 01:12:51 Speaker 4: No, it was Sean Cassidy and Susan Day Danny Bonaducci. Yeah, come on, get half, come on, get happy. Hello, here's a song that was saying come on. You've never heard that song really? 01:13:04 Speaker 2: That sounds vaguely familiar. 01:13:05 Speaker 4: Yeah, And at the time in the seventies, David Cassidy was with like the high he went from they screwed up his contract to where he was making like a thousand dollars a week, but he shouldn't have signed it because he was underage. And then the show exploded, so they had to rewrite this huge contract where all of a sudden he became like the one of the highest paid people ever on television at the time. 01:13:27 Speaker 2: Yeah, he was. 01:13:28 Speaker 4: Oh god, it was all this, all these great stories from behind the scenes of what. 01:13:32 Speaker 2: The Partridge Family was like. Crazy. 01:13:33 Speaker 3: This guy is is an actor from a TV show where he plays a manager. 01:13:38 Speaker 4: He managed the Partridge Family Monkeys. So it's just like a complete other. 01:13:43 Speaker 5: Reference, little other reference. 01:13:45 Speaker 2: Correct to another musical television bizarre. 01:13:48 Speaker 5: It's bizarre, and you have to be such an old I think it's cool. 01:13:54 Speaker 2: I thought it was at the time. 01:13:55 Speaker 3: Like I want to I want to hear from parents who were stuck watching TJI with their kids in the nineties who were like, they must have loved this moment because they were like five of this show makes sense. 01:14:07 Speaker 2: I loved it music that I grew up. 01:14:10 Speaker 4: But you know, I grew up watching the Monkeys in reruns and watching the Partridge Family. I mean having older brothers that you know, My oldest brother, Gary was born in the sixties, so it was like the Partridge Family. It was huge. These are enormous television shows at the time too. This was like The Partridge Family and The Brady Bunch were on par with each other. 01:14:27 Speaker 2: I think this is royalty. This is also just. 01:14:29 Speaker 3: All Jeff Sherman likesus. Sherman because he was like friends with these people. He knew that because he grew up in this crowd. Like we had him on the show. We talked about being in bands at school with like these people. 01:14:40 Speaker 4: Like so Sean Cassidy, Davies, David Cassidy's brother was in Jeff Sherman's band. 01:14:47 Speaker 3: And then he also, you know, rose to prominence as a screenwriter. And I remember him telling telling me that like his his like where he like his genre was like John Hughes style movies. Like that's he became famous for. That's where his career started, was writing those sort of like high jinxy Yeah, you know, young men with privilege running around Like exactly what Corey and Eric are doing in this episode is like a Jeff Sherman script. 01:15:15 Speaker 4: Like that is totally so with seventies television stars thrown in. 01:15:19 Speaker 2: That's awesome. 01:15:21 Speaker 5: Alan Namy are dancing more upbeat. Frankie comes to cut in and he starts dancing with Amy. Cory and Eric are watching everyone and smiling, and Eric says he knew this would all work out. It worked out because you think Corey is going to say the Matthews brothers, but he says they are very very very lucky. 01:15:40 Speaker 2: Never done again. By the way, the Matthew's brothers never never never doesn't doesn't have a ring to it. And you shouldn't have taken the head slam. So I know, I'm thinking you gave it to me. Well, you were there absolutely. 01:15:56 Speaker 5: Then we're in the tag. We're back at Chubby's roags. Reginald tells Gordon that Alan Gordie that Alan says he has a large home with many bedrooms. He says it's barely a shack compared to Jedediah's house. Reg says that's perfect. Jedediah says if he even drives down his street, he's a dead man. And then the manager we saw earlier in the crowd comes up to three fourths of the monkeys and tells them he likes what he heard. He used to manage a family band a few years ago. He still has their van, and it'd be nice to handle an act without a mother in it. Inside joke, inside joke about the Cartridge Family, just a bunch of inside jokes. He says to call them they could be bigger than the Beetles, and then Reg repeats bigger than the Beatles. Then they all chuckle and say nah. So anyways, did a whole bunch of research on it. It's just so boomerish. 01:16:50 Speaker 4: And so. 01:16:52 Speaker 5: Straight up. 01:16:58 Speaker 2: I mean. 01:16:58 Speaker 5: Also, I wish anyone in my life loved me as much as the Boy Meets World writers love the monkeys. 01:17:05 Speaker 2: Oh my god. 01:17:08 Speaker 5: All right, join us for our next episode, season three, episode nine, The Last Temptation of Corey.
