<v Speaker 1>Hey, everybody, welcome to game This morning is with me
<v Speaker 1>Jeff Greb, your host from giant bomb dot com. Thank
<v Speaker 1>you for tuning in. In this episode, we're gonna be
<v Speaker 1>talking about nine hundred dollars. It's gonna be a good
<v Speaker 1>one because we have Janet Chow on the show.
<v Speaker 3>Jan how are you doing.
<v Speaker 2>I'm doing well. Listening to us will not cost you
<v Speaker 2>nine hundred dollars.
<v Speaker 3>Our best to make sure that doesn't happen. Yeah, at most.
<v Speaker 3>How long?
<v Speaker 2>How much is an annual subscription to Giant Bomb?
<v Speaker 3>I forget? Uh? Yeah, I forget too. Is it just
<v Speaker 3>like straight up? Uh? We do ten dollars a month, right,
<v Speaker 3>so it's probably like one hundred.
<v Speaker 2>There you go. I think that's not nine hundred. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>that's not nine hundred. And will we'll occupy a lot
<v Speaker 2>of you can put us on in the background, you
<v Speaker 2>can do all sorts of things with.
<v Speaker 1>Us exactly, and uh, and we're gonna be there for
<v Speaker 1>you and we'll never be obsolete. I hope that's not true.
<v Speaker 1>Ape that is true. Oh okay, yeah, I don't want
<v Speaker 1>to think about it. Yeah, Jane, it was fun in Boston.
<v Speaker 1>It was a good time where we just came back
<v Speaker 1>from Packs East everybody, definitely, it was just great to
<v Speaker 1>see people, great to do our panels, which all went
<v Speaker 1>very well. Thank you to everybody who came out. Yes,
<v Speaker 1>I had a good time.
<v Speaker 3>How about you?
<v Speaker 2>Fantastic time grub. It's interesting because none of us are
<v Speaker 2>based out of Boston, that's right, but going to Packs
<v Speaker 2>East specifically has started to feel like an odd homecoming
<v Speaker 2>type of thing. Oh yeah, you know obviously because of
<v Speaker 2>the panel last year where we announced that we bought
<v Speaker 2>the company, But like, I don't know, it just feels
<v Speaker 2>like a good ground swell. And then when folks come
<v Speaker 2>by to say hi or watching the panels. Here's the thing, gang,
<v Speaker 2>never ever ever feel shy or embarrassed to stop one
<v Speaker 2>of us to say something or to take a picture. Also,
<v Speaker 2>if you do do that and you are in any
<v Speaker 2>of the discords, you're watching any of the live streams,
<v Speaker 2>drop your user name because nine times out of ten
<v Speaker 2>we will know.
<v Speaker 3>Who you are.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, we'll recognize it. Yeah, that's that was huge as well.
<v Speaker 1>That was great to run into so many people and
<v Speaker 1>they said their user name and like, yeah, I've seen
<v Speaker 1>you in chat for sure.
<v Speaker 2>Shots at the sam Boat and Ice I'm like, I
<v Speaker 2>see you all the time.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, Sam and I SA was doing sectory scores with
<v Speaker 1>me and stuff, So yeah, that's very cool.
<v Speaker 3>We love that.
<v Speaker 1>I think Pax Seast is probably my favorite of all
<v Speaker 1>the things we go to do in terms of like events. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>pack Seast is just so easy, laid back and fun,
<v Speaker 1>and yet it always also feels like we got a
<v Speaker 1>lot done.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, yes, talking to our peers and seeing them not
<v Speaker 2>stress but think like, oh, I got these appointments and
<v Speaker 2>then I'm thinking right right, people work the show other
<v Speaker 2>than just being a bunch of goofy goobers like we do.
<v Speaker 3>Uh huh.
<v Speaker 1>It was Yeah, all across the board really enjoyed it.
<v Speaker 1>It was great to see Vinnie as well. Thanks to
<v Speaker 1>him for being a good sport about the blight. I
<v Speaker 1>think he enjoyed it. I think he did.
<v Speaker 2>I feel like it would be very hard to actually
<v Speaker 2>blight Vinnie Caravella.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, yes, because he's just so into like what can
<v Speaker 1>I do with this thing? And that's a good energy
<v Speaker 1>to bring into the I mean it helps when you
<v Speaker 1>don't have to beat it, right, when you don't have
<v Speaker 1>to complete the game, you know, that's where it really
<v Speaker 1>breaks some of us, but I think even Vinnie would
<v Speaker 1>have a or especially Vinnie would have a good spirit
<v Speaker 1>about even that.
<v Speaker 2>Also shouts out to everyone that stopped by the million
<v Speaker 2>two millionaire panels. I thought those went super well. We
<v Speaker 2>actually had an Irish person show up and we grub
<v Speaker 2>we almost had someone go the distance.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it got it got pretty heated there. It was
<v Speaker 1>just yeah, a lot of fun. People also got that
<v Speaker 1>as well and just seemed to be like, yeah, we
<v Speaker 1>want to partake, and everyone knew what they were doing
<v Speaker 1>when they came up on stage, and we're so great
<v Speaker 1>and the audience was so helpful.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, we'll probably do all that stuff again.
<v Speaker 2>Shout out to Kate Katie cats Up. Yep, Katie popped
<v Speaker 2>up on the stage as well. That was great. And
<v Speaker 2>then Chuck told me who that was. I'm like, Katie
<v Speaker 2>cats Up, I.
<v Speaker 1>Know her right exactly. That that was really awesome. Just
<v Speaker 1>a great job to everybody involved. We appreciate it.
<v Speaker 3>All right, let's get back into the into the normal
<v Speaker 3>swing of things.
<v Speaker 1>Let's get back into this show by explaining ourselves and
<v Speaker 1>what we do over here. We're Giant Bomb, small video team,
<v Speaker 1>small video game team, small team of video game do
<v Speaker 1>faceis we play stuff on the internet for your entertainment,
<v Speaker 1>and we want to keep doing that, but we need
<v Speaker 1>your support to make it so and keep doing it
<v Speaker 1>exactly the way we like. That means go to giant

<v Speaker 1>It ensures the future of independent games media that we
<v Speaker 1>can do this without needing.
<v Speaker 3>The help of a corporation.
<v Speaker 1>And you know, with all the support we saw at
<v Speaker 1>Pax East, we really know that that is possible, and
<v Speaker 1>we are so grateful to everyone who has made that
<v Speaker 1>happen so far. If you can't just tell a friend,
<v Speaker 1>show up, watch the stuff, all of that energy sort
<v Speaker 1>of builds on tip one another and makes us want
<v Speaker 1>to just keep doing this. And people see how fun
<v Speaker 1>you're having and they want to be a part of it,
<v Speaker 1>and that is enough, all right as far as this
<v Speaker 1>show goes though, most weekdays, igf Grub will help piece
<v Speaker 1>your gaming life back together. That includes breaking news and
<v Speaker 1>maybe even some of our own original reporting. For all
<v Speaker 1>these topics, I'll get the input of a bona fide
<v Speaker 1>expert who will make me look smart. If you are
<v Speaker 1>watching live on twitch welcome, you can always listen to
<v Speaker 1>the show later on podcast feeds by searching for Game
<v Speaker 1>Mess Mornings, or find the RSS feed on giant bomb
<v Speaker 1>dot com. You can also catch the show later with
<v Speaker 1>chapters and timestamps on YouTube.
<v Speaker 3>Hello YouTube.
<v Speaker 1>All right, we have a lot to get into, so
<v Speaker 1>let's start the Morning Mess with a little bit of
<v Speaker 1>news that we missed on Friday, jan because we are
<v Speaker 1>busy traveling, having fun and not paying attention to.
<v Speaker 3>The world falling apart.
<v Speaker 1>Well, here's a little bit more of the world falling apart.
<v Speaker 1>New price changes for PlayStation five, PlayStation five Pro, and
<v Speaker 1>PlayStation Portal Remote Player. This is from the PlayStation Blog,
<v Speaker 1>which says, with continued pressures in the global economic landscape,
<v Speaker 1>we've made the decision to increase the price of the
<v Speaker 1>PS five, PS five Pro and the PlayStation Portal Remote
<v Speaker 1>Player globally. We know that price changes impact our community,
<v Speaker 1>and after careful evaluation, we found this was a necessary
<v Speaker 1>step to ensure we can continue to deliver innovative, high
<v Speaker 1>quality gaming experiences.
<v Speaker 3>To players worldwide.
<v Speaker 1>The updated recommended retail prices for PS five consoles are
<v Speaker 1>effective starting April second, so not yet jan So people
<v Speaker 1>are starting to go out there and rush out to
<v Speaker 1>get these things because they are still at a previous price,
<v Speaker 1>but we do have all the updated price information here.
<v Speaker 1>I'm going to start with the PS five and they'll
<v Speaker 1>say what the original launch price was, not the most
<v Speaker 1>recent price. I just want to give the full comparison here,
<v Speaker 1>and then we'll say the new price. So the PS five,
<v Speaker 1>which launched at five hundred dollars in twenty twenty, is
<v Speaker 1>now six hundred fifty dollars. The PS five Digital Edition,
<v Speaker 1>which is maybe the craziest of them all, actually Jen
<v Speaker 1>launched it four hundred dollars and is now six hundred.
<v Speaker 1>So you just go go ahead and topple a fifty
<v Speaker 1>percent increase on top of that original launch price, and
<v Speaker 1>you have the price today. The PS five Pro, also
<v Speaker 1>up there in the running for the craziest, was seven
<v Speaker 1>hundred dollars when it launched. It is now nine hundred dollars,
<v Speaker 1>and the PlayStation Portal, which launched it two hundred, gets
<v Speaker 1>a more modest fifty dollars cost increase to two hundred
<v Speaker 1>and fifty dollars. So the all the home consoles went
<v Speaker 1>up by at least one hundred that is on top
<v Speaker 1>of other previous increases to get to the prices that
<v Speaker 1>they're at now, and for PS five pro you throw
<v Speaker 1>in let's say you want to get the hard drive,
<v Speaker 1>and then let's say you want to pay the.
<v Speaker 3>Sales tax that you have to pay.
<v Speaker 1>You are certainly getting over one thousand dollars out the
<v Speaker 1>door to purchase that thing. We were thinking we'd have
<v Speaker 1>to wait for the PS six for that to happen.
<v Speaker 2>No, uh no, no, uh, it's insane grub because you know,
<v Speaker 2>this doesn't even include any games into the equation. This
<v Speaker 2>doesn't factor in, uh, PlayStation Plus, which you're gonna need
<v Speaker 2>if you want to play any multiplayer games.
<v Speaker 3>But yes, the premium ones right, Yes, for sure.
<v Speaker 2>It's part of me the the I don't even want
<v Speaker 2>to say a hopeful side of this or a positive
<v Speaker 2>spin to this, But do you think PlayStation is doing
<v Speaker 2>this now ahead of Nintendo, ahead of Xbox to just
<v Speaker 2>jump the gun, uh, and just try and lay out
<v Speaker 2>and not be the most recent one and then after
<v Speaker 2>and hopefully they're they're they're hoping the news cycle will
<v Speaker 2>just continue on until Xbox or Nintendo has to announce
<v Speaker 2>their price increases and if those may be more egregious,
<v Speaker 2>or maybe Microsoft sees this in some people are not
<v Speaker 2>necessarily swallowing the pill, but considering it that they could
<v Speaker 2>push harder on increasing their prices as well.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I think that you're like getting at a number
<v Speaker 1>of factors that are playing in here, of like them
<v Speaker 1>trying to position this in the best timing, trying to
<v Speaker 1>get away with the most that they can get away with,
<v Speaker 1>and there are a lot of things happening right now
<v Speaker 1>that can help them get away with this. People will
<v Speaker 1>certainly go look at this headline and then look to
<v Speaker 1>the left or the right, and all the headlines are
<v Speaker 1>global financial crisis, and the cost of oil is going up,
<v Speaker 1>So just delivering these things to stores is going to
<v Speaker 1>get much more expensive, and everything else is still getting
<v Speaker 1>more expensive because that is going to have a huge
<v Speaker 1>knock on effect the increase in the.
<v Speaker 3>Price of oil and the price of fuel.
<v Speaker 1>And so everyone goes, all right, yeah, I guess that's
<v Speaker 1>going to happen because of all these other terrible things.
<v Speaker 1>So they can sort of couch it in the way
<v Speaker 1>that the world is falling apart, and it's not necessarily like, oh,
<v Speaker 1>Sony's so greedy, Sony's doing this because they have to
<v Speaker 1>do this, and that's they want people to think that
<v Speaker 1>for sure.
<v Speaker 3>Also, yeah, people are playing in out.
<v Speaker 1>We're going to get the end of the financial quarter
<v Speaker 1>coming up right now, like tomorrow, and we'll get a
<v Speaker 1>financial report soon after from them a few months later.
<v Speaker 1>And I think they're gonna want people like the investors
<v Speaker 1>to be like, hey, you had a pretty good last quarter,
<v Speaker 1>But where's the growth going to come from? Because it
<v Speaker 1>certainly seems like the cost of producing these things, you know,
<v Speaker 1>cost of ram is still high, is going to eat
<v Speaker 1>in your into your profit margins.
<v Speaker 3>What are you going to do about that? Well now
<v Speaker 3>they already have an answer to that question. So it's.
<v Speaker 1>It just stinks that those you know, maneuvers and those
<v Speaker 1>pressures are more powerful than the pressure of get like
<v Speaker 1>being worried about getting someone to buy your console, Like
<v Speaker 1>we would think that like that would be the number
<v Speaker 1>one thing of hey, can can someone afford this? And
<v Speaker 1>if they can't, can you adjust the price down so
<v Speaker 1>you can bring more people in? That used to be
<v Speaker 1>the number one pressure on console pricing. Yeah, and now
<v Speaker 1>it doesn't even seem like a factor anymore.
<v Speaker 3>I bizarre, I.
<v Speaker 2>Wish I had the graphic candy grub I saw this
<v Speaker 2>circulating on Blue Sky once PlayStation announced the increase of
<v Speaker 2>the PS five Pro to nine hundred dollars. But at
<v Speaker 2>this point in time in a PlayStation consoles life cycle,
<v Speaker 2>the price would have significantly gone down. Yes, not necessarily halfed,
<v Speaker 2>but like you know, like, oh, it's thirty percent off
<v Speaker 2>the launch price, forty percent off the launch price. Something
<v Speaker 2>that is, like you said, more palatable and able to
<v Speaker 2>get more people in the door rather than being this
<v Speaker 2>oddly prohibitive price ticket on an item. And you know,
<v Speaker 2>a couple months down the line, say we get to
<v Speaker 2>the end of the year, grub, I'm very curious to
<v Speaker 2>see what this does for sales. If this what having
<v Speaker 2>the higher bar, what is this going to do? Are
<v Speaker 2>they expecting people to continue to buy a APS five pro?
<v Speaker 1>They are right, because Grand Theft Auto six, right, that's
<v Speaker 1>the other that's the other thing here. I know, like yeah,
<v Speaker 1>we're look, look we already have PCs. I was not
<v Speaker 1>looking to buy consoles to get that thing. And I
<v Speaker 1>was also I'm also not super hot on Grand Theft
<v Speaker 1>Auto in general, Like I'm not. I don't dislike it.
<v Speaker 1>I will be there day one playing that game. I
<v Speaker 1>will have my fun but I mean, at the very least,
<v Speaker 1>it's not something that's front of mine right now because.
<v Speaker 3>It still doesn't feel real.
<v Speaker 1>But for these companies that are making these decisions, they
<v Speaker 1>can just smell it in the air that that game
<v Speaker 1>is going to move hardware sort of no matter what
<v Speaker 1>the cost of the hardware is, and they're doing the
<v Speaker 1>math of what is the maximum price we could set
<v Speaker 1>these consoles at to get the most from these people
<v Speaker 1>who waited and will and have decided no matter what,
<v Speaker 1>I have to be there day one for Grand Theft
<v Speaker 1>Auto there is a number where that where the consoles
<v Speaker 1>too expensive. Do you think that this is not that number?
<v Speaker 1>They think this is still palatable to those people who.
<v Speaker 3>Are extremely hyped for Grand Theft Auto six.
<v Speaker 2>I think it was Will that said this over the weekend,
<v Speaker 2>But I also grub didn't think that buying APS five
<v Speaker 2>at launch would be an investment because of how much
<v Speaker 2>that thing has ballooned in price. Yes, but then also
<v Speaker 2>talking about that crowd that is excited for GTA six,
<v Speaker 2>how many years are we into for the PS five
<v Speaker 2>already that I assume those people would have preemptively bought
<v Speaker 2>it at this point or jumped in for a different game, right, Like,
<v Speaker 2>I know a lot of people that unfortunately bought APS
<v Speaker 2>five because of Hogwarts legacy, or they bought a PS
<v Speaker 2>five to continue playing Fortnite or the newest Call of
<v Speaker 2>Duty with their groups. I'm assuming a lot of others
<v Speaker 2>people have already.
<v Speaker 3>Gotten a PS five at this point. Yeah, for sure, definitely.
<v Speaker 1>And it's like that's the other side of it is
<v Speaker 1>they're you know, they're already selling fewer PS fives, and
<v Speaker 1>so it's like it's probably a smaller audience. And if
<v Speaker 1>they are waiting for Grand Theft Auto six, if that
<v Speaker 1>was the inciting incident, well maybe they maybe we can
<v Speaker 1>just charge them more, But otherwise this audience already has it.
<v Speaker 3>And then you know, I guess there is the side of.
<v Speaker 1>It where there are still people who have a PS
<v Speaker 1>five who have been waiting for a Grand Theft Auto
<v Speaker 1>six to get the PS five Pro. There's a strong
<v Speaker 1>chance like the PS five Pro is by far the
<v Speaker 1>best version of that game because it's not going to
<v Speaker 1>be on PC at launch, and so there's going to
<v Speaker 1>be the early adopters who are like, maybe I don't
<v Speaker 1>need a p PS five Pro yet. If they have waited,
<v Speaker 1>there's a chance that they will get it for for
<v Speaker 1>the GTA six and then they'll sell their old PS
<v Speaker 1>five and that will increase the the user base, the
<v Speaker 1>install base through the secondhand market a little bit, which
<v Speaker 1>Sony also that's something they want as well. But yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I just go back to this is them not being
<v Speaker 1>so concerned with keeping consumers happy. It is very much
<v Speaker 1>making it looked like their bottom line is healthy because
<v Speaker 1>the real product, as always is the stock.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, and looking at these prices again, grub, just like
<v Speaker 2>for a base PS five it is going to be
<v Speaker 2>six fifty six fifty and I guess that's the one
<v Speaker 2>that comes with a disk drive. But then even then
<v Speaker 2>for the digital edition at six hundred, that's.
<v Speaker 3>Rough grub Yep, it's was there stuff?
<v Speaker 2>Was there any news on if like peripherals would also
<v Speaker 2>go up in price, like the any controllers or anything
<v Speaker 2>or was it just blood, purely.
<v Speaker 3>Blood sad thing about that.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's just I mean, you know, the portal, is
<v Speaker 1>that a is that a console or is that a
<v Speaker 1>accessory somewhere in the middle, But yeah, I think you know,
<v Speaker 1>they've raised the cost of peripherals recently as well, and
<v Speaker 1>maybe it's like they will continue leap frogging those.
<v Speaker 3>It's like, we'll do those again in a few months
<v Speaker 3>if we need to.
<v Speaker 1>Speaking of upcoming price increases, what do we think this
<v Speaker 1>does mean for Xboxes and specifically maybe the switch to
<v Speaker 1>the Xbox.
<v Speaker 2>It's just it, It is so out of my brain
<v Speaker 2>at this point, Grubb, that I can't even factor it
<v Speaker 2>into like my own equations versus like a switch to,
<v Speaker 2>which is probably the thing that I would try and
<v Speaker 2>recommend to friends. At this point, what are we at
<v Speaker 2>now four fifty or are we at five hundred?
<v Speaker 3>Now?
<v Speaker 1>I think we're I think yeah, for let's see, they
<v Speaker 1>raised the price of the Xbox. Yeah, Xbox Series S
<v Speaker 1>is four hundred dollars, says Don Cheetle.
<v Speaker 3>I can't recommend Series S.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I can't recommend getting an Xbox at this point.
<v Speaker 1>No, I mean in like, yeah, oh, if a price
<v Speaker 1>increase happens, like, well, still don't buy it.
<v Speaker 3>But uh yeah, I mean obviously the Helix.
<v Speaker 1>Coming up soon ish next year, maybe maybe the year
<v Speaker 1>after that. It feels like the reality we're in right now,
<v Speaker 1>it's less and less likely every day that the Helix,
<v Speaker 1>which is the follow up Xbox for people who are
<v Speaker 1>unaware that that actually does come out next year. But
<v Speaker 1>either way, it's like that thing will be more expensive
<v Speaker 1>than we are used to at launch, and these prices
<v Speaker 1>are going like part of it is acclimating us to
<v Speaker 1>higher prices so they can't sell the next generation of
<v Speaker 1>consoles at an even higher number.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, I know that that is like the inevitability grub,
<v Speaker 2>but like it just it is so rough thinking about
<v Speaker 2>all of the various people that enjoy video games out
<v Speaker 2>there that are already having to like be very that
<v Speaker 2>will have choice paralysis when it comes to a new
<v Speaker 2>big game coming out of whether or not they can
<v Speaker 2>even participate and check out that new game because it
<v Speaker 2>is now eighty plus dollars to engage with it, on
<v Speaker 2>top of monthly memberships to play some games that I
<v Speaker 2>understand why someone would just go and like stick around
<v Speaker 2>with a backlog or stick around with something like Fortnite
<v Speaker 2>because you know they have an existing library of skins
<v Speaker 2>other stuff and their friends are still playing that versus
<v Speaker 2>whatever the new hotness is.
<v Speaker 1>Yep, that is not the only news about PlayStation console pricing.
<v Speaker 1>There's also a rumored bill of materials that we got
<v Speaker 1>for the PS six.
<v Speaker 3>This game let's see.
<v Speaker 1>Actually, the story comes from Mark Thompson at Playfront, who
<v Speaker 1>maybe couch this in a more positive light than I
<v Speaker 1>would have, but let's go through it. Sony is significantly
<v Speaker 1>raising the price of the PS five. As we talked about,
<v Speaker 1>this has sparked fears that the PS six could cost
<v Speaker 1>more than one thousand dollars. According to well known leaker
<v Speaker 1>Kepler two or Kepler L two, who I think posted
<v Speaker 1>this on reset Era, the PS six is manufacturing costs
<v Speaker 1>are estimated to be well to be above current levels.
<v Speaker 1>If Sony subsidizes it, the market could price it around
<v Speaker 1>seven hundred dollars because despite the ongoing rising costs of everything,
<v Speaker 1>the estimated bill of materials is seven hundred and sixty dollars.
<v Speaker 1>So that, thankfully, Mark has a kind of a little
<v Speaker 1>history here of Oh, the PS five's estimated bill of
<v Speaker 1>materials at the time was four hundred and fifty US dollars,
<v Speaker 1>and then that launched for five hundred dollars. So can
<v Speaker 1>we expect the same thing here of a bill of
<v Speaker 1>materials that's seven hundred and sixty dollars if they subsidize
<v Speaker 1>it sell for seven hundred. If they don't sell it
<v Speaker 1>for eight hundred, and I just I'm so much more
<v Speaker 1>pessimistic about that than this story, this headline and story jan.
<v Speaker 2>One hundred percent grub. If they were, they're already pushing
<v Speaker 2>a four or five year old console. I mean the
<v Speaker 2>PS five pros how how many years old at this
<v Speaker 2>point at nine hundred dollars, Their new fangled flagship new console,
<v Speaker 2>their new platform is gonna be more than that. It's
<v Speaker 2>going going to be like, well past seven hundred dollars. It's, oh,
<v Speaker 2>we're going to reach a grand.
<v Speaker 3>I think so. I mean, at least one of the
<v Speaker 3>skews is going to be a grand.
<v Speaker 1>But I wouldn't be surprised if it's like the lower
<v Speaker 1>skew is one thousand dollars, because they have gone through
<v Speaker 1>it now, they've been through the ringer, that they've seen
<v Speaker 1>what can happen in an unstable world. And uh, and
<v Speaker 1>it if it's not, if it's not the rampocalypse, if
<v Speaker 1>it's not the ongoing increase increased prices of ssd s
<v Speaker 1>and because of data centers and AI, it was you know,
<v Speaker 1>mining for bitcoins not too long ago, and all these
<v Speaker 1>other things that can come out of nowhere. And that's
<v Speaker 1>before you get into like, okay, actually, who is going
<v Speaker 1>to control the straight of horror use her moves over
<v Speaker 1>the next decade.
<v Speaker 3>Is that going to increase the price.
<v Speaker 1>Of fuel that like permanently for a very long time,
<v Speaker 1>And so we should build in higher cost for transportation
<v Speaker 1>because this bill of materials, just to explain it, is
<v Speaker 1>the bill of materials the materials that you would then assemble.
<v Speaker 1>So it's that doesn't even include the cost to assemble.
<v Speaker 1>It doesn't include the cost to package it. Packaging these
<v Speaker 1>things is thirty to fifty dollars, like the box and
<v Speaker 1>putting it together and having someone put it in a
<v Speaker 1>box and all that stuff that's thirty to fifty dollars
<v Speaker 1>on its own.
<v Speaker 3>These things stack up so fast. And that is again.
<v Speaker 1>Before we talk about the buffer that these companies would
<v Speaker 1>want to build in to deal with any potential tariffs
<v Speaker 1>or things that they can't predict. They're going to want
<v Speaker 1>a bigger buffer zone than ever. And so that's why
<v Speaker 1>everyone's like it's just going to be a thousand, because again,
<v Speaker 1>it's also easier to lower the price than it is
<v Speaker 1>to raise the price, although they've seemingly made it pretty
<v Speaker 1>easy to raise the price over the last several years.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, we've seen that price go up a couple of times.
<v Speaker 2>Grub at first, Like, you know, I could see the
<v Speaker 2>mental calculus being done of like, well, you know, there
<v Speaker 2>are people that buy or upgrade a phone every year
<v Speaker 2>every two years, and like shones now are like a
<v Speaker 2>grand and up.
<v Speaker 3>Watch out for.
<v Speaker 2>That PlayStation payment plan gang, But at least this excusing
<v Speaker 2>phone prices. At least with the phone, you do multiple
<v Speaker 2>things on it, use that thing every day, right, PlayStation completely.
<v Speaker 3>Different calculus, right, like you were saying, it's completely different.
<v Speaker 2>There are people that wind up ditching cameras altogether and
<v Speaker 2>just get using a phone as they're their primary camera.
<v Speaker 2>But like with a console, and especially with the track
<v Speaker 2>record and the speed of we've been getting PlayStation exclusives
<v Speaker 2>or games headed to the PlayStation, I can't make that
<v Speaker 2>calculus also make sense where I'm gonna spend upwards to
<v Speaker 2>a grand and then have one tent pole game to
<v Speaker 2>play for maybe half of the year.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, and especially when we get to a point where
<v Speaker 1>it's like we are almost certainly going to have a
<v Speaker 1>longer cross gen release cadence than we did for this generation,
<v Speaker 1>which is also very long and also contributed to people saying,
<v Speaker 1>when is it going to really feel like the PS
<v Speaker 1>five progen or the PS five generation started, And for
<v Speaker 1>a lot of people it still doesn't feel like at hand. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>and it's like that that's gonna be even worse next
<v Speaker 1>time around. So the the planned obsolescence, the tool they
<v Speaker 1>use to get us to rush out to buy these things,
<v Speaker 1>it's just going to be less effective than ever. It's
<v Speaker 1>it's going to be difficult and expensive and weird. So
<v Speaker 1>I bet these companies would love to find a way
<v Speaker 1>to like make it make sense to get that. If
<v Speaker 1>the PS six launches at seven hundred dollars jam, which
<v Speaker 1>again I don't think anyone in chat, you and I
<v Speaker 1>none of us believe it will. But if it does
<v Speaker 1>that that would be huge that people would be like,
<v Speaker 1>we got to win here, And that's still significantly more
<v Speaker 1>expensive than the previous generations, but that's where we're at.
<v Speaker 3>So I just don't think we're going to get those
<v Speaker 3>wins though.
<v Speaker 2>But I would like to see that, I guess. But
<v Speaker 2>then at that point, like as soon as they announced
<v Speaker 2>the price of a PS six and a date, would
<v Speaker 2>then the PS five pro go down.
<v Speaker 1>I don't again, this is my speculation of they wind
<v Speaker 1>down the PS five and PS five Pro and replace
<v Speaker 1>them with a PS five Slim and then a PS
<v Speaker 1>six light to PS six s of some version, and
<v Speaker 1>that is basically the PS five Pro with a you know,
<v Speaker 1>redone on a smaller process so they can get more
<v Speaker 1>energy efficiency and all that other stuff.
<v Speaker 2>And you know, even in the industry that we are
<v Speaker 2>eating grub like and where we would need a PS six,
<v Speaker 2>I think I would kind of like drag my feet
<v Speaker 2>as long as possible to like, well, I don't want
<v Speaker 2>to get this, like I feel like I don't need
<v Speaker 2>to get this, or I will try and avoid it
<v Speaker 2>as much as possible because like that's still a big
<v Speaker 2>chunk of change.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah. Goulater and Chat also makes a really good point.
<v Speaker 1>If it's seven hundred and fifty dollars at launch, you're
<v Speaker 1>not gonna be able to get one, like it's still
<v Speaker 1>gonna sell out.
<v Speaker 3>And it was.
<v Speaker 2>That's the other aspect of this grub, Like when the
<v Speaker 2>PS five launched, there were so many scalpers everywhere, uh,
<v Speaker 2>trying to like resell that. There are people probably doing
<v Speaker 2>that now with a PS five Pro. That and that's
<v Speaker 2>that is like the really the original lesson. So all
<v Speaker 2>of these things we've talked about the reason that they've
<v Speaker 2>been increasing prices, don't forget the original sin there, which
<v Speaker 2>is they think that they underpriced these consoles at the
<v Speaker 2>beginning of this generation because there.
<v Speaker 3>Was so much scalping and so much demand.
<v Speaker 1>They're like, they look at that, as we left money
<v Speaker 1>on the table.
<v Speaker 3>We made a mistake.
<v Speaker 1>It should have been six hundred, and so they're not
<v Speaker 1>going to want to make that mistake again. They're probably
<v Speaker 1>going to overprice it just to be careful, and then
<v Speaker 1>if demand is soft, which it could be, they could
<v Speaker 1>always bring it down, have holiday discounts, all.
<v Speaker 3>This other stuff. It's I guess bundles right, bundle right,
<v Speaker 3>They'll do.
<v Speaker 1>They'll there will definitely be sort of stuff mirroring what
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo did with Mario Kart for Switch to where it's
<v Speaker 1>like here's a bundle for a little bit more and
<v Speaker 1>maybe that's limited time.
<v Speaker 3>Yes, they will pull out all the tricks.
<v Speaker 2>I you know, I not not to spoil a further
<v Speaker 2>news stories that we have planned here Grub, but like
<v Speaker 2>seeing Crimson Desert continue to climb in sales, it's just
<v Speaker 2>like I'm looking at at places like not just Sony
<v Speaker 2>and Xbox, but like your Ubi softs, your eas of
<v Speaker 2>like here's this like relatively not unknown unknown.
<v Speaker 3>Studio but no, but not you be soft.
<v Speaker 2>Right making a game that five million people have shown
<v Speaker 2>extreme interest in? And what are y'all doing?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, there's clearly still demand out there for big game experiences,
<v Speaker 1>and can any of these companies other companies figure it out?
<v Speaker 1>Right in this moment, it feels like no kind of
<v Speaker 1>across the board.
<v Speaker 3>All right, let's let's take a break. We'll come back.
<v Speaker 1>We'll talk about some Nintendo rumors, some lot of stuff
<v Speaker 1>popping off there. Looking forward to doing that. We'll get
<v Speaker 1>to it right after these messages. If you want to
<v Speaker 1>skip out on these ads, go to Giant Bombed Slash

<v Speaker 1>versions of the show. If you go to the site,
<v Speaker 1>you can find the video and audio version without ads.
<v Speaker 1>In the meantime, we will be right back. All right,
<v Speaker 1>we are back with Game mess Mornings. I'm Jeff Grubb,
<v Speaker 1>that's Janachoa. Let's get into the headlines once more. According
<v Speaker 1>to sources, Nintendo is planning a new Starfox and a
<v Speaker 1>major Zelda remake, this year now, but no three D Mario.
<v Speaker 1>This is from Andy Robinson FVGC. Nintendo is reportedly planning
<v Speaker 1>to release a major Zelda remake and a new star
<v Speaker 1>Fox game this year, but a three D Mario game
<v Speaker 1>won't arrive on switch To until twenty twenty seven. That's
<v Speaker 1>according to prominent Nintendo insider nath the Hate, who's shared
<v Speaker 1>a plethora of information on the company's twenty twenty six plans,
<v Speaker 1>which matches with what VGC has heard from its own sources,
<v Speaker 1>and a new podcast The Nintendo Sleuth claimed a classic
<v Speaker 1>Starfox revival is planned for release on switch To this summer,
<v Speaker 1>hot on the heels of Fox Mcloud's confirmed appearance in
<v Speaker 1>the Super Mario Galaxy movie. Star Fox is coming back
<v Speaker 1>at summer twenty twenty six. This is a quote. We're
<v Speaker 1>getting a new star Fox game in the very near future.
<v Speaker 1>I've been told it's a classic style Star Fox game
<v Speaker 1>and that the visuals are supposed to be very good,
<v Speaker 1>and I've heard it does have online multiplayer. The new
<v Speaker 1>game would mark star Fox's first major new release in
<v Speaker 1>a decade, following Platinum Games's WEU entry Starfox zero. Furthermore,
<v Speaker 1>a new three D Mari game won't arrive in twenty
<v Speaker 1>twenty six as expected, according to Nate's sources.
<v Speaker 3>The last three D Mario game, Super Mario Odyssey.
<v Speaker 1>Was released during the original Switches launch window, nearly a
<v Speaker 1>decade ago, and despite last year's Donkey Kong Bonanza from
<v Speaker 1>the same studio, a major new entry had been expected soon.
<v Speaker 1>In its place will be a major remake of n
<v Speaker 1>sixty four classic The Legend of Zelda Akarina of Time,
<v Speaker 1>to coincide with Zelda's serial the Zelda series's fortieth anniversary.
<v Speaker 3>It is claimed.
<v Speaker 1>One game that will not be releasing this year is Mario,
<v Speaker 1>a three D Mario that's coming in twenty twenty seven.
<v Speaker 1>But there is another anniversary this year, and that anniversary
<v Speaker 1>is the Legend Zelda. And that's when he talks about
<v Speaker 1>Okerina of Time. Okay, that's actually just the start of
<v Speaker 1>the rumors. But let's hit these first.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, when you just look at it, like circumstantially
<v Speaker 1>of Fox Macloud in the movie. After Donkey Kong was
<v Speaker 1>in the movie with his new design, he got a
<v Speaker 1>new game. Fox McLoud has a new design in this movie.
<v Speaker 1>He's going to get a new game. Yeah, Okay, sounds good.
<v Speaker 1>What do you do there? Just make it look awesome?
<v Speaker 1>I think that actually probably is a smart idea. And
<v Speaker 1>then Okerina of Time for the fortieth anniversary, again tied
<v Speaker 1>to probably what is very likely the plot of the movie.
<v Speaker 1>You want that out there as well. So these things
<v Speaker 1>really line up for what I and I believe this.
<v Speaker 2>And Greb I think it's interesting because I passed by
<v Speaker 2>a best by the other day before packs He's trying
<v Speaker 2>to get some last minute bits and bobs, and of
<v Speaker 2>course BET's best Biden have anything inside, right, But the
<v Speaker 2>Nintendo Super Mario Galaxy Bundle, the one and two is
<v Speaker 2>plastered all around that store, and I think instead of
<v Speaker 2>making a new game, they are just remarketing and rebranding
<v Speaker 2>that as like, well, this is the one you get,
<v Speaker 2>you missed it before, here it is again the movies.
<v Speaker 3>Coming out get this game.
<v Speaker 2>And I know people are upset that we're not getting
<v Speaker 2>a new three D Mario, but I'm just taking that
<v Speaker 2>to mean that whatever next three D Mario will have
<v Speaker 2>no kind of tie in to the theming of this movie.
<v Speaker 2>And at this point, I think we need to like
<v Speaker 2>divorce whatever the Mario movies are going to be doing
<v Speaker 2>versus what the Mario games will be doing, just because
<v Speaker 2>like also, like the Sonic movies have are not following
<v Speaker 2>any type of continuity or whatever from any Sonic games,
<v Speaker 2>nor should they ever follow each other.
<v Speaker 3>I think it's.
<v Speaker 2>Interesting about the Starfalk stuff. Uh grub, I'm gonna ask you.
<v Speaker 2>Is Mario cool the character of Super Mario specifically from
<v Speaker 2>the movie No.
<v Speaker 1>I mean I I think he's like I think that
<v Speaker 1>movie went for like he's a hero and he has
<v Speaker 1>a brotherly love that really is is admirable and and
<v Speaker 1>like you could feel good and root for him. He's
<v Speaker 1>a character you can root for, but he's not. I
<v Speaker 1>don't think he like crosses the threshold and to being
<v Speaker 1>a cool dude.
<v Speaker 2>Now, Is Fox mccleoud a cool dude?
<v Speaker 3>Yes?
<v Speaker 1>And and like he's had that that swag forever, but
<v Speaker 1>especially among the smash community right that they they love
<v Speaker 1>their Fox of McCloud and casting, Glenn Powell says that
<v Speaker 1>they're going to try to make him be a very
<v Speaker 1>cool character. Like there's a lot of stuff there where
<v Speaker 1>they know that they have a different vibe with him.
<v Speaker 3>Tall Tom Cruise Glenn Powell, Yes, that's what we call him.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, and you know we've back Lars talked about how
<v Speaker 2>Dylan has no interest in the Super Mario movie. I
<v Speaker 2>wonder if this affects that calculus at all, of like,
<v Speaker 2>your's this cool character that you might kind of know,
<v Speaker 2>and you know what, a couple months from now, he's
<v Speaker 2>got a brand new game and that cool dude has
<v Speaker 2>got a cool game.
<v Speaker 1>Even like like like yeah, you're getting along the line,
<v Speaker 1>so like, hey, this might lead into a Smash brother
<v Speaker 1>stuff if those kids get the sense of that, because
<v Speaker 1>like he would.
<v Speaker 3>Care about Smash Brothers.
<v Speaker 1>Yea, all like all generations into Smash And if like
<v Speaker 1>you it's like, okay, you should go see this movie
<v Speaker 1>because this is going to feel like the very beginning
<v Speaker 1>of where they're headed with all the Smash initiative stuff,
<v Speaker 1>you know, like the MCU initiative, and kids will want
<v Speaker 1>to get on board with that. I think so uh,
<v Speaker 1>I am. I'm looking forward to seeing what they're doing
<v Speaker 1>with these games. I think, you know, when we're talking
<v Speaker 1>about Ockery enough time, that is a game that has had.
<v Speaker 3>Re releases before. It has had like.
<v Speaker 1>Remixes, and then it had the three three DS sort
<v Speaker 1>of remaster and now now talk of a remake, I
<v Speaker 1>am expecting a Resident Evil to style remake of Go
<v Speaker 1>Whole Hog. Just completely rebuild the game from the ground up,
<v Speaker 1>and you know, you hit all the main beats and
<v Speaker 1>you make sure that you do a good job of
<v Speaker 1>adapting it for like this new visual style or whatever.
<v Speaker 1>But at the end of the day, it's going to
<v Speaker 1>feel like this is you know, there's the Operata of
<v Speaker 1>Time in sixty four and then there's the new video
<v Speaker 1>game ocer Ena of Time for switch to, and it's
<v Speaker 1>going to feel like a new game.
<v Speaker 2>Grub, this is a safe space here. I've never beat
<v Speaker 2>Oker enough time.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I look, I think this would be like the
<v Speaker 1>exact same thing of like a Resident Evil too. Of like,
<v Speaker 1>there's plenty of people who never at this point in time,
<v Speaker 1>never played those games and then played the new one. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I would expect this to be able to deliver that
<v Speaker 1>same kind of thing.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>And then for Star Fox, you know, if I were
<v Speaker 1>to tell you to go play a Star Fox game
<v Speaker 1>jan it would still be Star Fox sixty four.
<v Speaker 3>OK, Like that's where that series is at.
<v Speaker 1>There's been plenty of games since then, plenty of games
<v Speaker 1>worth checking out, but it's like where do you go
<v Speaker 1>for STARFOCKX, You still go to sixty four. So if
<v Speaker 1>they could just you know, update that concept and visually,
<v Speaker 1>like hearing that the visuals are very good, that's exactly
<v Speaker 1>what I want to hear. I think that's what they
<v Speaker 1>need to do. Just make it stylistically very cool and
<v Speaker 1>make those characters look awesome, and then make the gameplay.
<v Speaker 3>Just build on the expand on the gameplay.
<v Speaker 1>Don't introduce new ideas, just like or not new ideas,
<v Speaker 1>but like things that distract from the core, you know,
<v Speaker 1>the rail shooter aspect of what those games always were.
<v Speaker 1>Just make that the best version of that it can
<v Speaker 1>possibly be, and I would welcome that as well.
<v Speaker 3>I think if they.
<v Speaker 1>Deliver on that, if the movie works and the character's
<v Speaker 1>cool there and they are promising more stuff happening with
<v Speaker 1>that character in future movies, I think they have a
<v Speaker 1>real strong, strong chance of re establishing Starfox. And I
<v Speaker 1>bet that was always part of Miamoto's plan of like,
<v Speaker 1>let's this is the time to bring them back.
<v Speaker 3>Grub.
<v Speaker 2>I know that everyone is excited about the prospect of
<v Speaker 2>a new Star Fox video game, and so am I
<v Speaker 2>I'll if and when it comes out. I'm excited to
<v Speaker 2>check it out. But in my head, I'm just thinking
<v Speaker 2>about this Smash Brothers cinematic universe that they're creating.
<v Speaker 3>The NCU, right, the NCU.
<v Speaker 2>How baler would it be if we got Joseph Kaczinski
<v Speaker 2>to directed animated Starfucks movie.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, that would be pretty slick. Actually, that would rule. Man.
<v Speaker 3>I would love that. Actually, he'd be He's just got
<v Speaker 3>such a strong visual style.
<v Speaker 2>You know, he's worked with Glenn Powell in the past.
<v Speaker 2>Because of Macalin, it's over there. Additionally, Oh, Tom Cruise
<v Speaker 2>could be in it.
<v Speaker 3>He could be the Wolf cameo. He can speak. Oh,
<v Speaker 3>if you played the enemy, that would be played yes,
<v Speaker 3>star Wolf. Oh my god, I would love that.
<v Speaker 2>Additionally, I'll take Lord and Miller doing it.
<v Speaker 3>Oh, yes, for sure. God, they're going to be ruling
<v Speaker 3>the world now.
<v Speaker 1>I mean they already were, but yeah, after Hail Mary,
<v Speaker 1>they're going to be even more in more demand than
<v Speaker 1>ever before. Okay, let's see here. So that's like I said.
<v Speaker 1>The Nintendo rumors didn't stop there. It was interesting because
<v Speaker 1>there was some post about like a predictions that people
<v Speaker 1>were making about Nintendo's future, and this person Mallow nine
<v Speaker 1>three to two on YouTube posted something that has basically
<v Speaker 1>all the stuff that Nate had before Nate said it
<v Speaker 1>in his video and then he had some other stuff.
<v Speaker 1>So here's the headline. Super Metroid remake coming from Mercury
<v Speaker 1>Steam alongside a new Metroid game. So this is from
<v Speaker 1>Go Nintendo and Nintendo rumor mill has been going strong lately.
<v Speaker 1>We just got to hit from some big rumors about
<v Speaker 1>a potential new Star Fox game and an Ockering of
<v Speaker 1>Time remake, and now more remake talk is here. This
<v Speaker 1>time it has to do with the Metroid series, which
<v Speaker 1>just saw the release of Metroid Prime four Beyond in December.
<v Speaker 1>According to a leaker going by Mellow nine three to
<v Speaker 1>two on YouTube, there is a Super Metroid remake in
<v Speaker 1>the works from developer Mercury Steam. This is the same
<v Speaker 1>team behind Metroid Dread and the Metroit Samus Returns remake
<v Speaker 1>on three DS. Supposedly, this remake would employ a pixel
<v Speaker 1>art style.
<v Speaker 3>Of some kind. Oh my god.
<v Speaker 1>In addition, it's been reported that Mercury Steam is also
<v Speaker 1>in development on a brand new Metroid game that would
<v Speaker 1>serve as a follow up to Dread. Melow nine through
<v Speaker 1>two shared this rumor the other Day alongside the supposed
<v Speaker 1>leaks about Star Fox Ocarina. That's why people are taking
<v Speaker 1>it seriously, because it's like all this other stuff lined up,
<v Speaker 1>and like, you know, it makes it seem like this
<v Speaker 1>could be true as well.
<v Speaker 3>So let's just assume it is. For now.
<v Speaker 1>We don't know, but let's assume just for the sake
<v Speaker 1>of discussion. This sounds pretty good to me. This is
<v Speaker 1>probably what they should be doing, especially if they're going
<v Speaker 1>to remake a Super Metroid, a game it doesn't really
<v Speaker 1>need to be remade, but I can see it being
<v Speaker 1>slightly awkward to go back to if you're someone who
<v Speaker 1>like started a zero Mission or Dread. Super Metroid can
<v Speaker 1>feel like a little stiff in comparison, although I just
<v Speaker 1>think it feels right, but that's me an old head
<v Speaker 1>who played that game, not exactly when it came out,
<v Speaker 1>but not too long after. As long as they keep
<v Speaker 1>a pixel style, that's the one thing I was worried about.
<v Speaker 1>Jan I didn't want it to look like Samus Returns.
<v Speaker 1>I didn't want it to look like Dread. Dread is
<v Speaker 1>a game I think looks great, certainly plays great, and
<v Speaker 1>the animation is a big part of that.
<v Speaker 3>Sure, sure, you don't need to do that. The Super
<v Speaker 3>Metro super metrate is iconic.
<v Speaker 1>So if they're just kind of updating those pixel I mean,
<v Speaker 1>I guess you think they would be like an HD
<v Speaker 1>two D sort of thing, not exactly HD two D,
<v Speaker 1>but that concept of adding a ton of like photo
<v Speaker 1>optical layers on top to make it give it depth
<v Speaker 1>and stuff like that, is that what you would expect.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, give me a visual pixelas on you grub. I
<v Speaker 2>just want like layers and layers and just play with that.
<v Speaker 2>I'm a little bit fatigued with the HD two D
<v Speaker 2>art style, but I feel like Nintendo would craft it because,
<v Speaker 2>you know, despite how they normally treat it, Metroid as
<v Speaker 2>still like a big deal for them, and a remake
<v Speaker 2>specifically of Super Metroid. I feel like should warrant some
<v Speaker 2>TLC in terms of what the visual approach would be.
<v Speaker 2>But yeah, I would prefer to not look like Metroid
<v Speaker 2>dread as much as they can.
<v Speaker 1>Right, And it's like, yeah, I don't think it's going
<v Speaker 1>to look exactly like the Super Nintendo game just hd'd
<v Speaker 1>or anything like that.
<v Speaker 3>I think they would try to do a bit more.
<v Speaker 1>But plenty of these HT two D games which again
<v Speaker 1>I'm not saying that should look exactly like HD two D,
<v Speaker 1>but they have proven that you can release a game
<v Speaker 1>with a style that is that harkens back to the
<v Speaker 1>earlier days of two D. Add those photo optical layers
<v Speaker 1>and people will go like, this feels modern enough and
<v Speaker 1>we're going to show up for it. And I would
<v Speaker 1>hope that that would maybe one of the things that
<v Speaker 1>convinced Nintendo the game is worth doing, because I bet
<v Speaker 1>there were discussion stuff can we update this with with
<v Speaker 1>the just three D visuals and still maintain what Super
<v Speaker 1>Metroid is?
<v Speaker 3>And I bet there were people there.
<v Speaker 1>Being like, ah, it's not going to look right now
<v Speaker 1>they can do it and still feel confident.
<v Speaker 3>To charge forty fifty dollars for it. I don't know.
<v Speaker 2>Sure, Yeah, yeah, here's an idea. Grub every different biome
<v Speaker 2>or like map area that is different from another one
<v Speaker 2>different art style.
<v Speaker 1>I honest like almost like a an Odyssey sort of
<v Speaker 1>situation right where it's like each like biome is maybe
<v Speaker 1>it maybe can be like traveling from planet to planet
<v Speaker 1>and it is like each planet has completely different physics
<v Speaker 1>and stuff like that. That would be fun, And then
<v Speaker 1>a new Metroid gra game. I just think that we
<v Speaker 1>weren't sure to expect this because it seemed like Mercury
<v Speaker 1>Steam was having some problems with its leadership.
<v Speaker 3>I don't know if that stuff got cleared up.
<v Speaker 1>It certainly seemed to run a foul of labor laws
<v Speaker 1>in Spain, which is where the studio is based, and
<v Speaker 1>I was always wondering, is Nintendo going to want to
<v Speaker 1>keep working with this company. They did their own game
<v Speaker 1>Mercury Steam. I don't remember what was called. It was
<v Speaker 1>like a three D action adventure sort of thing that
<v Speaker 1>came out a few years back. Didn't seem to really
<v Speaker 1>make a splash, and then it was like, Okay, well
<v Speaker 1>maybe now they'll see if maybe they'll go back to Nintendo,
<v Speaker 1>or Nintendo go back to them, or maybe they've been
<v Speaker 1>working together this whole time. But I always expected them
<v Speaker 1>to do a follow up to Metroid dread just a
<v Speaker 1>straight up sequel, keep doing it that way. It was
<v Speaker 1>always just a matter of the timeline. Are they going
<v Speaker 1>to rush that out or is it going to take
<v Speaker 1>a few extra years. Does feel like it took a
<v Speaker 1>few extra years.
<v Speaker 3>But here we are.
<v Speaker 1>It's back in the rumor mill, and I welcome that
<v Speaker 1>Dredd is one of my favorite Metroid games, which is
<v Speaker 1>one of my favorite franchises, So I'm ready for this.
<v Speaker 2>Jan I just remember Metro Dread being like one of
<v Speaker 2>my first full experiences playing a Metroid game, not just
<v Speaker 2>like picking it up and putting it down, like playing
<v Speaker 2>it to completion and just then and there in that
<v Speaker 2>moment being like, oh, she's hella cool.
<v Speaker 3>Huh, she's so cool. Yeah, that ending finale there is
<v Speaker 3>so well done.
<v Speaker 1>If such a payoff for like, you know, feeling scared
<v Speaker 1>and underpowered in areas.
<v Speaker 3>And then you get to do that, it's like grub
<v Speaker 3>you know what.
<v Speaker 2>I apologies for throwing movie pitches out there, but someone's
<v Speaker 2>gonna pick this up and eventually cut me the check.
<v Speaker 2>Give Super the Metroid Movie to season one, brain Jon Favreau,
<v Speaker 2>because that first season of Mando is very good. I
<v Speaker 2>enjoy it a lot.
<v Speaker 1>Give him a writer, like, have a writer work with
<v Speaker 1>him and then, yes, I think that could that would
<v Speaker 1>be I would accept that.
<v Speaker 3>Get him away from Dave Filoni, yes, yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Just separate those two a little bit, give him some space,
<v Speaker 1>all right? Very cool.
<v Speaker 3>It was Blades of Fire, the name of that game.
<v Speaker 3>It came out last year. It feels like forever ago.
<v Speaker 2>There were several people also trying to guess the name grub.
<v Speaker 2>We've got fire of steel, fire sword or something, flane
<v Speaker 2>of fire, flames or fire or something.
<v Speaker 1>Alright, Chris Pratt as metroid yep, I can't wait, everybody,
<v Speaker 1>All right, let's we got quite a few new stories. Good,
<v Speaker 1>we'll do the quick versions of each of them. Crimson
<v Speaker 1>Desert Year's five million in sales. Pearl Abyss CEO says
<v Speaker 1>it's looking into a switch to port. Yeah, the game
<v Speaker 1>continues to do very well. It had a higher peak
<v Speaker 1>concurrent player number I think over this weekend than the
<v Speaker 1>previous one, you know, and next weekend is Easter, so
<v Speaker 1>even more people could be playing games next weekend and
<v Speaker 1>could have an even higher peak number then.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, didn't Jesus Christ walk through a Crimson Desert?
<v Speaker 3>I think so that's I read that in the bibble.
<v Speaker 3>This is not too surprising.
<v Speaker 1>The game's word of mouth right now is like it
<v Speaker 1>does have everything in it, and while some people aren't
<v Speaker 1>aren't loving it.
<v Speaker 3>We did that pole jam and what's not just.
<v Speaker 1>Me, but that pole was like, yeah, it's like twenty
<v Speaker 1>percent of people seventeen percent of people give it an A,
<v Speaker 1>then twenty five percent of people gave it a D
<v Speaker 1>or lower, and it's kind of split pretty.
<v Speaker 3>Evenly between B and C.
<v Speaker 1>So people feel all kinds of ways about it, but
<v Speaker 1>you kind of can't deny its scale. Yeah, and the
<v Speaker 1>craving for that scale is just off the chart, And
<v Speaker 1>so people keep showing up for it, and at the
<v Speaker 1>very least, they keep updating it very frequently, specifically targeting
<v Speaker 1>those updates at the biggest criticisms. So it could very
<v Speaker 1>quickly turn into something that's different and better in just
<v Speaker 1>about every way.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, And like you said, Grub, this speed that they're
<v Speaker 2>rolling out these updates, I don't know, maybe some balancing
<v Speaker 2>and justing will happen that one of us circles back
<v Speaker 2>to it a month from now and it is in
<v Speaker 2>a completely different place, any of those qualms are or
<v Speaker 2>have been satiated, and it might turn into something that
<v Speaker 2>one of us likes.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, for sure, I think that that story is
<v Speaker 1>never going to be good, but sure that's not the
<v Speaker 1>reason I didn't like the game. So it's like, if
<v Speaker 1>they're updating everything else, we'll see.
<v Speaker 2>Grub real quick. Crimson Desert is going to go crazy
<v Speaker 2>town bananas. That's game. The second that game has a sale.
<v Speaker 1>Oh yes for sure, right and if they man the
<v Speaker 1>thing's already at five million sales, they're saying it's nearing
<v Speaker 1>five million.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah it's and it is. Yeah, it's now very.
<v Speaker 1>Positive, so that that is a huge swing for reviews.
<v Speaker 1>It was yeah, eighty five percent. It wasn't like seventy
<v Speaker 1>eight percent when it launched. So it's like that they
<v Speaker 1>are specifically fixing the things that people have issues with
<v Speaker 1>in like user reviews.
<v Speaker 3>So that's pretty impressive. All right.
<v Speaker 1>Devil May Cry five seemingly coming to Nintendo switch To
<v Speaker 1>getting new Devil Hunter. Addition, this is from Nintendo everything.
<v Speaker 1>Devil May Cry five is apparently coming to Switch To
<v Speaker 1>with a brand new quote Devil Hunter edition, which we
<v Speaker 1>haven't seen before. They had like a definitive edition before
<v Speaker 1>or something like that. But yeah, this is this is
<v Speaker 1>coming from a ratings in a rating in Taiwan where
<v Speaker 1>they say the game is going to be M obviously.
<v Speaker 3>Or their equivalent of an M.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, we usually when we get these Taiwan ratings,
<v Speaker 1>the game does eventually come out like that. It's always
<v Speaker 1>real and comes out within a few months, so people
<v Speaker 1>can probably expect that here as well, although we don't
<v Speaker 1>know what will be different in this one. It sounds
<v Speaker 1>to me like one of those one of those games
<v Speaker 1>that got announced at the launch of the Switch To
<v Speaker 1>where Nintendo worked with their partners to get ports and
<v Speaker 1>then then they added a little something extra to have
<v Speaker 1>a bespoke version that they could say this is the
<v Speaker 1>special switch To version.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I saw someone in chat say, give Dante a Mario hat.
<v Speaker 3>Sure, that's probably gonna happen. Yes, it's something like that,
<v Speaker 3>for sure.
<v Speaker 2>I'm down more Devil May Cry?
<v Speaker 3>Why not?
<v Speaker 1>Yep, And this is probably them setting up a world
<v Speaker 1>where Devil May Cry six comes along not too long after,
<v Speaker 1>you know, not immediately, but within the next couple of years.
<v Speaker 3>I'm calling it now.
<v Speaker 2>The trailer they're gonna go release for this Devil May
<v Speaker 2>Cry five, for the Switch To. Dante's gonna look at
<v Speaker 2>the camera and go, let's a go.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, it's a me. I'm the Devil May Cry.
<v Speaker 1>Super Mario Galaxy movie has has two post credit scenes.
<v Speaker 3>People are saying that they're were staying.
<v Speaker 2>For I'm gonna call my shot now. Greb Josh Brolin
<v Speaker 2>is Warrior.
<v Speaker 1>Hell yeah, God, that would rule. I would like that
<v Speaker 1>very much. I wonder if.
<v Speaker 3>If Warrio and Wa Luigi.
<v Speaker 1>Are in this movie or the post credits, like that's
<v Speaker 1>to me that is the over under is Warreo Wallawigi?
<v Speaker 1>Do you take them under in the movie or over
<v Speaker 1>in the post credits? And I'm not exactly sure where
<v Speaker 1>I would place them right now that it's kind of
<v Speaker 1>a fifty to fifty toss up. I don't know what
<v Speaker 1>else I would expect from a post credit scene.
<v Speaker 3>Do you have any ideas of like what else could
<v Speaker 3>be in there? Samus?
<v Speaker 2>I think if I think it was you that said it, Greb,
<v Speaker 2>or it might have been Minadi that like the characters
<v Speaker 2>they are teasing coming to the Super Mario and Oh.
<v Speaker 3>Shawan and the opposite, Yes, yes, exactly.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, Sean had mentioned like it's all these space characters
<v Speaker 2>heading to this next Mario movie, and who's the other
<v Speaker 2>big space character?
<v Speaker 3>Samus, yep, I think.
<v Speaker 1>For the post credits scene, I wouldn't be surprised if
<v Speaker 1>it's like Kirby, just to be like, hey, it's Kirby.
<v Speaker 1>We're gonna establish Kirby as a movie character, and then
<v Speaker 1>that definitely means Smash is happening because Kirby's kind of
<v Speaker 1>the unofficial or maybe official Smash mascot.
<v Speaker 2>At this point, I want Kirby to to come in
<v Speaker 2>the third Mario movie because Kirby just needs more special treatment.
<v Speaker 3>Oh yeah, yes, I agree, all right.
<v Speaker 1>And then finally, this Summer's Xbox Game Showcase is confirmed
<v Speaker 1>for June, followed by a Gears of War e Eday Direct,
<v Speaker 1>which is you know how they've been doing it recently,
<v Speaker 1>where they have a showcase and then they focus on
<v Speaker 1>one game for a longer period of time right afterward.
<v Speaker 1>That is going to happen Sunday, June seventh at ten
<v Speaker 1>am Pacific time, one pm Eastern, and it will be
<v Speaker 1>followed by the Gears for e Day Direct right afterward.
<v Speaker 1>This one, this will include and this is the whole
<v Speaker 1>show case, first gameplay looks, and huge news on upcoming
<v Speaker 1>titles from first party studios across the Xbox Family as
<v Speaker 1>well as third party partners around the globe, from the
<v Speaker 1>biggest franchises to soon to be indeed Darlings. Immediately following
<v Speaker 1>the showcase, we'll go even deeper on one of the
<v Speaker 1>games coming later this year directly from the team behind
<v Speaker 1>the Gears franchise, the Coalition studio Gears of Our E
<v Speaker 1>Day Direct will take players into the state the start
<v Speaker 1>of Emergence Day, offering new details, gameplay, and insights about
<v Speaker 1>the hugely anticipated origin story.
<v Speaker 3>To the Gears of Warsaga.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, they've been doing these the last few years. They
<v Speaker 1>have a team that's pretty good at putting them together,
<v Speaker 1>so not too surprised that they're going to keep it
<v Speaker 1>going under the new leadership.
<v Speaker 3>Also, this is.
<v Speaker 1>Something that was certainly in the plans since last year's show.
<v Speaker 1>So yeah, summer game fests starting to come together.
<v Speaker 2>Jan Yeah, it's it's quickly coming together grub, but I
<v Speaker 2>feel like we should we should.
<v Speaker 3>Get it going soon for us.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, now they're on the other side of packs, it's like, oh,
<v Speaker 1>we have no more excuses. So that's that's what happening next.
<v Speaker 1>All right, that does it for the headlines. We didn't
<v Speaker 1>have a pole question because we did the Bomb twelve
<v Speaker 1>on Thursday.
<v Speaker 3>We do have a new poll question, have you played
<v Speaker 3>Super Metroid before? Yes or no.
<v Speaker 1>We'll get the results of that talk about it on
<v Speaker 1>Games Morning's here on Wednesday. I'm looking forward to see
<v Speaker 1>what people say. Just like you know this audience, I
<v Speaker 1>think most people probably have, but maybe not everybody.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I've had a handkering to play a Metroid game grub,
<v Speaker 2>but with this these rumors, I may just take take
<v Speaker 2>a brink your break and wait.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, wouldn't wouldn't blame you. I think hopefully it'll be
<v Speaker 1>a great way to play that game. Hopefully it's real.
<v Speaker 1>We'll see, all right, So, like I said, we'll get
<v Speaker 1>the results of that poll tomorrow or on Wednesday. Excuse
<v Speaker 1>me on giant bombs speaking a giant bomb. Today, we
<v Speaker 1>should be doing missed right. I think everyone's back and
<v Speaker 1>ready to.
<v Speaker 2>Go, unless I don't know anyone falls victim to pax pox.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, well, you know, I'm definitely I lost my voice
<v Speaker 1>a little bit, but I'm feeling pretty good otherwise, so
<v Speaker 1>hopefully everyone else is as well. We should also have
<v Speaker 1>the you know, Robi's gonna have the BombCast tomorrow. We'll
<v Speaker 1>have plenty of other fun stuff this week, and then
<v Speaker 1>most of our normally scheduled programming, including Space Ace Blight
<v Speaker 1>Club will return. It's gonna be a good one everybody,
<v Speaker 1>and we're feeling good after packs and we'll bring.
<v Speaker 3>Those vibes into all the shows this week.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, for anyone that mixed missed the Pax panels, they
<v Speaker 2>are up on Paks's YouTube channel, but we're gonna go
<v Speaker 2>get them. Make sure they're posted over here on the website.
<v Speaker 2>A Giant Bomb's YouTube also tomorrow, grab something. We announced
<v Speaker 2>that the Panel World premiere episode one to Portal Pals.
<v Speaker 2>That's right, who, Mike Manati is going to be playing
<v Speaker 2>Portal two co op, not with any of us, but
<v Speaker 2>with our dear, dear friend Mary Kish.
<v Speaker 1>It's it's really fun people. The trailers out there if
<v Speaker 1>you want to go see what it's like, it's really funny.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's gonna be a limited premium series gang just
<v Speaker 2>because you know the nature of Portal two's co op
<v Speaker 2>is not super long. But happy to have Mayor on
<v Speaker 2>the site.
<v Speaker 3>Yep, looking forward to that.
<v Speaker 1>That'll be every two weeks, so it'll kind of be
<v Speaker 1>offset with nine lives for the foreseeable future, well you know,
<v Speaker 1>until that limited serious runs, Yes, until it's conclusion. All right, Jan,
<v Speaker 1>I think we're pretty much all wrapped up here. Thank
<v Speaker 1>you so much for hanging out with me today to
<v Speaker 1>talk about video games. Man, I really appreciate it.
<v Speaker 3>I have no idea what time is on I man.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it doesn't matter anymore. Thank you all for watching
<v Speaker 1>and listening. You are the best audience in gaming. Until
<v Speaker 1>next time, I have a good one. Take care of
<v Speaker 1>yourself and goodbye.
