How to Find the University that is Right for You

<v Speaker 2>have to physically go down there. Open days are great experiences.
<v Speaker 2>You're able to talk to staff, to the people that
<v Speaker 2>actually going to be teaching you.
<v Speaker 4>To know what your degree is looking for from you
<v Speaker 4>as a student.
<v Speaker 5>Don't be put off too much about great boundaries that
<v Speaker 5>you don't think you're going to get.
<v Speaker 6>Everything should feed quite naturally from a good course chose.
<v Speaker 6>So once you've found something you're really passionate about, then
<v Speaker 6>you can write a personal statement that really reflects that passion.
<v Speaker 1>So many people they can go out and get loads
<v Speaker 1>of work experience, but what the universities really want is
<v Speaker 1>what you learn from that work experience. So maybe only
<v Speaker 1>mention a few, but just really focus on the skills
<v Speaker 1>that you've developed and why that makes you a good
<v Speaker 1>candidate for whatever course is that you're applying for.
<v Speaker 4>From being a part of a net work team, part
<v Speaker 4>of the music club at school, anything like that is
<v Speaker 4>going to be really important to show that you've got
<v Speaker 4>a bit of edge and really nice personality that's going
<v Speaker 4>to complement the degree that you're applying for.
<v Speaker 2>And lots of tips on the US website as well.
<v Speaker 2>There's videos, there's webinars, Facebook pages for universities.
<v Speaker 4>If you can't find it, ask and speaking to the
<v Speaker 4>students that are on the degrees are really important because
<v Speaker 4>you get a really authentic opinion from them about their experience.
<v Speaker 2>It take the time you need and really think about
<v Speaker 2>the information you're putting down.
<v Speaker 4>There might be things that they don't really like about
<v Speaker 4>their degree, but there might be things that they absolutely
<v Speaker 4>love that outweigh they're not.
<v Speaker 5>So great thing having a few options out there that
<v Speaker 5>you think maybe slightly on your grasp.
<v Speaker 4>So knowing those kind of pros and cons will help
<v Speaker 4>you make your decision as well. And an open day
<v Speaker 4>is a great opportunity to ask about those.
<v Speaker 5>Things, finds out what the universities can do to support
<v Speaker 5>that because there are lots of support mechanisms in place.
<v Speaker 6>And so many people sort of come up to be
<v Speaker 6>really worrying about portfeloes. I'm not sure what they should
<v Speaker 6>be doing, and think their works are good enough, but
<v Speaker 6>I think at the level you're at at the moment
<v Speaker 6>going for university and not expect you to have this
<v Speaker 6>professional portfolio laid out in front of them that shows
<v Speaker 6>you're amazing.
<v Speaker 3>If you're going to live somewhere for three years, it's
<v Speaker 3>really important that you look around. You wouldn't think about
<v Speaker 3>moving house without going to visit the house first. And
<v Speaker 3>I definitely feel that open date.
<v Speaker 2>Is that that step.
<v Speaker 6>What they want to see is that you're enthusiastic this
<v Speaker 6>is what you want to do, and that you've got
<v Speaker 6>a real passion for it, you know, And as long
<v Speaker 6>as you've got that, they're not going to mind about
<v Speaker 6>the quality of your work if it's not quite where
<v Speaker 6>you want it to be yet, because that's what you
<v Speaker 6>can learn at university.
<v Speaker 3>Going to university isn't just about doing a course more
<v Speaker 3>than just doing your UNI words, because it really helps
<v Speaker 3>you get to know new people.
<v Speaker 4>When you're picking a UCCEs, pick something that you love,
<v Speaker 4>something that you're good at, and.
<v Speaker 3>Something that you think is going to be useful.
<v Speaker 5>No matter what course you do, it's not so much
<v Speaker 5>about what specific subjects you learn with then that course.
<v Speaker 5>It's about the skills that you develop during the cour
