<v Speaker 1>It's the Lapsed Fan Wrestling podcast with Jack and carn
<v Speaker 1>S e O and JP Sorrow.
<v Speaker 2>He's a lapsed fan and all my years and wrestling,
<v Speaker 2>I never seen anything And it's the laps fan name
<v Speaker 2>by the one in the ring. Forget about Slado. He
<v Speaker 2>the real king of swing. When the bell goes in
<v Speaker 2>and the kick like me throwing in the corner. But
<v Speaker 2>it's lash like stick. Even Jerry King can sake off
<v Speaker 2>the crowd. Nodded in his head like it. Steve low Brown,
<v Speaker 2>would you get low down? Go even high up? Flipp
<v Speaker 2>you on your head?
<v Speaker 3>But you know cool driver, you speak more now and
<v Speaker 3>dragon spits fire give you more shock than when head
<v Speaker 3>treats higher drop a more truth than the con of
<v Speaker 3>sniper unless you would a coconut.
<v Speaker 2>Roddy Piper, Jack a JP.
<v Speaker 3>He like j Y d drop the cupcakes and gold
<v Speaker 3>the brain Bob means the best podcast Frost start the
<v Speaker 3>close cloud.
<v Speaker 4>If you all is a plassic and pose call twenty
<v Speaker 4>twenty five is now very.
<v Speaker 2>Much upon us, boss No, it is.
<v Speaker 4>If you listen to the Mailbag Show, the first show
<v Speaker 4>we presented at the beginning of twenty twenty five, you
<v Speaker 4>know that among the many things that people have a
<v Speaker 4>distant memory of. Before the deaths of Terry Funk and
<v Speaker 4>Sid Udi completely overtook the podcast. They remembered something we
<v Speaker 4>had going on called what was it called?
<v Speaker 2>Was it? I don't know.
<v Speaker 4>It was a collection of something, a collection. I'm trying
<v Speaker 4>to get it back. Let me see if I can
<v Speaker 4>call it. Maybe a little bit of sound, maybe an
<v Speaker 4>auditory prompt, maybe a little bit of lapsed ASMR will
<v Speaker 4>get me there. Just let's have a listen and see
<v Speaker 4>if this puts us back where you need to be.
<v Speaker 4>It's coming here in just a second. Just listen to
<v Speaker 4>the sound to which you're referring.
<v Speaker 2>You hear that. I love that. There's like a nice hiss,
<v Speaker 2>a little crackle.
<v Speaker 4>Mm.
<v Speaker 2>It definitely sounds like tape. Just let it wash over you.
<v Speaker 2>The hum of being better.
<v Speaker 4>Sounds to me like an honest to goodness VHS tape,
<v Speaker 4>does it not as it does like a clamshell case
<v Speaker 4>from your local video retailer. Sounds to me like a
<v Speaker 4>time when we could actually get excited to watch television
<v Speaker 4>instead of feeling like it's something we do when we're
<v Speaker 4>too lazy to do anything else. Yep, A destination thing
<v Speaker 4>to do, something that required you to leave the house
<v Speaker 4>to do successfully. Yep, we're talking about the video store.
<v Speaker 4>We're talking about here in twenty twenty five, as we
<v Speaker 4>launched the second decade of that fucking cast, the Return
<v Speaker 4>of the Coliseum Collection. The mission is clear if you
<v Speaker 4>don't know, it's to watch every single WWF Coliseum video
<v Speaker 4>release in order until we are done. You know when
<v Speaker 4>it started, and we know when it ends, and we
<v Speaker 4>don't necessarily know when and how we're going to get there,
<v Speaker 4>but it is not a mission that we have forgotten about, even.
<v Speaker 2>If I believe we'll be probably having to do, you know,
<v Speaker 2>shows in wheelchairs right by the time we get to
<v Speaker 2>the fucking catalog And.
<v Speaker 4>Harry, I am kicking myself because I told myself to
<v Speaker 4>look this up before we started recording, and I fucking forgot.
<v Speaker 2>I know.
<v Speaker 4>The last one we did was Best of the WWF
<v Speaker 4>volume four six six. I'm sorry, I was thinking four
<v Speaker 4>six and before that was the Ricky Steamboat tape, right.
<v Speaker 2>I believe, so like the profile, I have them up here.
<v Speaker 2>I had all the tapes up here, and I have
<v Speaker 2>a memory for this.
<v Speaker 4>Was it TNH that interrupted it or was it the
<v Speaker 4>lapsed Funk. I don't remember what came and took this
<v Speaker 4>from us.
<v Speaker 2>I'm looking it up. I I that's a good question.
<v Speaker 2>I think it might have been T and H. Honestly, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I think we Yeah, and then because then we did
<v Speaker 2>a bunch of you know, we did regular shows, and
<v Speaker 2>then and then Funk died and that just ruined everything.
<v Speaker 2>Well that's not how everybody would put it, but I
<v Speaker 2>do take your point.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, it was. It was one of our many initiatives
<v Speaker 4>around here, and we're worth.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it was right, it was. It was Yeah, it
<v Speaker 2>was teh. We did We did well, not exactly. I mean,
<v Speaker 2>it might have been over the long run, but we
<v Speaker 2>did do. Like, you know, we did Black Saturday after
<v Speaker 2>that and Last Battle of Atlanta. We did a bunch
<v Speaker 2>of different little things.
<v Speaker 4>Okay, So what I'm really remembering is the is the
<v Speaker 4>combination I think of Black Saturday and TNH being two
<v Speaker 4>things that were like, okay.
<v Speaker 2>We get to turn it over. Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>I think that also marked the last time we did
<v Speaker 4>the Hopper two. Interestingly enough, Yeah, I think you're right. Well,
<v Speaker 4>we're back. We told you we'd be back. We haven't
<v Speaker 4>forgotten about that. That those sweet coliseum videos and all
<v Speaker 4>they tell us about, you know, the circumstances that allowed
<v Speaker 4>us to so confidently say today in twenty twenty five
<v Speaker 4>that it used to be better. It's not an indictment
<v Speaker 4>on how people do things today. It's simply an accounting
<v Speaker 4>of how society, media entertainment was structured at the time
<v Speaker 4>and how it just resulted in being able to take
<v Speaker 4>joy in a tape like this week's tape, which is
<v Speaker 4>Villains of the Squared Circle, which is pretty much a
<v Speaker 4>piece of shit. The tape is a piece of shit.
<v Speaker 2>It's so fucking it's so bad.
<v Speaker 4>All the match just suck. All the promos are fucking
<v Speaker 4>dumb and not repetitive, right.
<v Speaker 2>That's just it. Most of the shit we've seen before.
<v Speaker 4>Didn't take them long in the colisseum to figure out
<v Speaker 4>how to k fabe a few extra bucks off the
<v Speaker 4>same piece of tape.
<v Speaker 2>I was like, I was like, I mean, how many times,
<v Speaker 2>honest to God, have we seen that fucking Tito Santana
<v Speaker 2>Randy Savage in your Continental title change?
<v Speaker 4>Would it shock you to hear that even though we
<v Speaker 4>have seen it before, it has not been in a
<v Speaker 4>prior coliseum video.
<v Speaker 2>It has we have in a continel. Yeah, sure, yes,
<v Speaker 2>I'm positive. Well, I know we saw it. I know
<v Speaker 2>we saw it on the actual show. Yes, we watched
<v Speaker 2>that actual show, but we've seen it on Colisseum videos too.
<v Speaker 2>You're sure, I'm positive. I'd love to know which one
<v Speaker 2>you're talking about, because we have yet to get to
<v Speaker 2>history of the Intercontinental Championship. That's true, No, it was.
<v Speaker 2>I put a lot of That.
<v Speaker 4>Was one of my missions for this episode was to
<v Speaker 4>be like, Okay, not only do I have to feel
<v Speaker 4>like it happened before, but I need to run down
<v Speaker 4>exactly when on prior Colisseum videos these pieces of footage
<v Speaker 4>of aired, and I could not find that one having
<v Speaker 4>occurred on a prior Colisseum home video.
<v Speaker 2>I'm pretty sure I'm going to find out.
<v Speaker 4>We haven't done the Macho Man profile tape either. That's
<v Speaker 4>coming up and used a couple of about four tapes
<v Speaker 4>from now. Oh, yes, we can find it on all years.
<v Speaker 2>I'll find it.
<v Speaker 4>This is, of course, the famous or infamous rolled steel
<v Speaker 4>to the head in Boston. Gardeness or Savage becomes a
<v Speaker 4>w WWF belt holder for the first time. YEP announ
<v Speaker 4>seeing a significant shift in the landscape they did show
<v Speaker 4>a lot of Savage coming in, you know, and the
<v Speaker 4>sweepstakes for his manager on the prior tape.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, I remember that, which.
<v Speaker 4>Led to the introduction of Elizabeth through the WWF. But yeah,
<v Speaker 4>this is listed as we know, as we've talked about
<v Speaker 4>in past Coliseum episodes. W two to two is the
<v Speaker 4>tape number. That's how they would catalog the tape order
<v Speaker 4>that they would come out with and how they sort
<v Speaker 4>of internally keep track of them WF and one, which
<v Speaker 4>of course was Blooper's bleeps and body slams. A very
<v Speaker 4>strange choice to kick it off, but I.
<v Speaker 2>Know, not even Holkamania fucking kicked it off, remember that.
<v Speaker 2>Think about that really curious choice.
<v Speaker 4>And we made a lot of hey when we did
<v Speaker 4>that episode years back, about like what went through their
<v Speaker 4>minds as to why they thought that might have more
<v Speaker 4>appeal than just hul Cogan because we're going back to
<v Speaker 4>eighty four here, eighty three even in terms of when
<v Speaker 4>thing's being conceptualized. So while Hogan was crowned in January
<v Speaker 4>eighty four, and we talked about that's how we kicked
<v Speaker 4>off the year last year reviewing that show where he
<v Speaker 4>beat Iron chic. It still wasn't entirely clear that he
<v Speaker 4>was a fucking cultural phenomenon. I don't think quite yet
<v Speaker 4>to where you know, it was unquestionably a whole tape
<v Speaker 4>that would sell. The best was the second tape they
<v Speaker 4>came out with, and that they do it. They do
<v Speaker 4>it in threes, at least early on, where it would
<v Speaker 4>be sort of like a themed one like Bloopers, a
<v Speaker 4>profile one of an individual wrestler like Hulkogan under the Giant,
<v Speaker 4>We've done Piper, We've done Ricky the Dragon's Steamboat as well,
<v Speaker 4>and then a best of which is just usually a
<v Speaker 4>compilation of a series of matches that they thought, you know,
<v Speaker 4>let's be honest, reflected who they felt like pushing at
<v Speaker 4>the time exactly. Wasn't necessarily the best matches in the ring,
<v Speaker 4>although there's some great matches on some of these tapes,
<v Speaker 4>it really was. What I think is most valuable the
<v Speaker 4>Colissem collection is that you get to go back and
<v Speaker 4>really put yourself back in the frame of mind of
<v Speaker 4>how Vince was thinking about the talent pool that he
<v Speaker 4>had at the time of the national expansion, and where
<v Speaker 4>he chose to play his focus, and how that focus
<v Speaker 4>shifted and adjusted based on all this behind the scenes bullshit,
<v Speaker 4>because he's trying to herd cats, trying to hurt a
<v Speaker 4>bunch of wrestlers that have made their bones and all
<v Speaker 4>the other territories under all the different systems and had formed,
<v Speaker 4>you know, bonds and alliances with other territorial promoters that
<v Speaker 4>kept them well paid and well protected, and they had
<v Speaker 4>comfortable arrangements where they felt like they had agency and
<v Speaker 4>they had leverage. It suddenly come to vents and it's
<v Speaker 4>not going to work with everybody. Pretty soon, the guys
<v Speaker 4>that they're pushing strongly with all kinds of plans for
<v Speaker 4>and bright visions for piss events off behind the scenes,
<v Speaker 4>run a power play or royalty check, whatever the case
<v Speaker 4>may be. Suddenly you don't see them mentioned on colisse
<v Speaker 4>and videos here.
<v Speaker 2>I know, good, we had things that we had to
<v Speaker 2>move on right in different directions, you know, where we're
<v Speaker 2>constantly adapting individualistic program based entertainment.
<v Speaker 4>Still nothing for the Tito Randy match.
<v Speaker 2>I know. I mean, unless it's some other fucking kind
<v Speaker 2>of collection tape that we've done.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is, And I don't know
<v Speaker 4>what it would be because I know We've watched this
<v Speaker 4>match a couple of times. I know it blew my
<v Speaker 4>mind when I was like, where is this thing? I
<v Speaker 4>couldn't find it. But they have the fucking Piper Coconut
<v Speaker 4>snook his head on this tape, which we had.
<v Speaker 2>I know, we've we saw that on the on the
<v Speaker 2>fucking on that tape there. Yep.
<v Speaker 4>They have Piper with Frankie Williams on Piper Spit, which
<v Speaker 4>is also on that tape. They have Piper jawing off
<v Speaker 4>with mister t backstage in that movie set to set
<v Speaker 4>up I believe it was Wrestlmingia one, not two. They
<v Speaker 4>they have they have a John Studd and King Kong
<v Speaker 4>Bundy cutting under the Giant's hair off.
<v Speaker 2>Yep, which we've also seen before.
<v Speaker 4>Absolutely have it fits here because it's wrestling's.
<v Speaker 2>Right, motherfuckers.
<v Speaker 4>And I don't know, not a bad idea for tape.
<v Speaker 4>I think at this point they're at a well go
<v Speaker 4>ahead with They're at a point where it's like they're
<v Speaker 4>taking listener suggestions. It's the first thing Gino Okerlan, who
<v Speaker 4>hosts the tape, says, is you know, we heard a
<v Speaker 4>lot of people want this a tape that was really
<v Speaker 4>about villains, and so we delivered it. And honestly, I
<v Speaker 4>mean my tape twenty two, they're probably reaching for things.
<v Speaker 4>So I believe that that was kind of a shoot, right.
<v Speaker 2>But you know, also the other thing though, that that
<v Speaker 2>that is kind of uh, you know, the issue I
<v Speaker 2>have with this tape is that it really I mean, yes,
<v Speaker 2>it focuses, but with the way that w W was
<v Speaker 2>at the time, you can't really they weren't really interested
<v Speaker 2>in in kind of having you know, I mean, you're
<v Speaker 2>sure you focus on the bad guys, but it's like
<v Speaker 2>they didn't really focus on the bad guys. Like every
<v Speaker 2>every veil, every heel that that was featured really got
<v Speaker 2>their come up and mostly on this tape. Interesting, you know,
<v Speaker 2>that wasn't really a a you know, they all yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I don't know, they all they all got except for
<v Speaker 2>the end, you know, the end, the last clip of
<v Speaker 2>the of the haircut, that was it. You know that
<v Speaker 2>that they ended the show. But for the for the
<v Speaker 2>rest of it, it's all you know, it's all uh,
<v Speaker 2>you know, the faces get some kind of company, you know,
<v Speaker 2>they they they God, I can't fucking speak tonight. Well
<v Speaker 2>you know what I'm saying, But they kind of like
<v Speaker 2>the Heels get come up and basically at the end
<v Speaker 2>of every of every segment.
<v Speaker 4>And for a promotion that is always so geared towards
<v Speaker 4>sending people home happy, you know, it's always been a
<v Speaker 4>Babyface territory. Even when Heels have the championship, it's just
<v Speaker 4>just a question of when is a Babyface going to
<v Speaker 4>take it and go on the real run, the run
<v Speaker 4>that counts unless you're Triple h and you can just
<v Speaker 4>completely reform the company in your own image and play
<v Speaker 4>you know, cosplay Rick Flair for a couple of years.
<v Speaker 4>Other than that, it's pretty much been a territory that's
<v Speaker 4>been defined as you know, the Babyface World champ and
<v Speaker 4>and Babyface is winning in the end. And so it's
<v Speaker 4>kind of out of character, I think for WWF, especially
<v Speaker 4>back in this era, to come out with a tape
<v Speaker 4>that I don't know, I guess you could say celebrates
<v Speaker 4>Heel tactics. It's it's kind of a tape that's, to
<v Speaker 4>your point, Boss, less about the Heels and more about
<v Speaker 4>the tactics, you know, right right, Look at here's twenty
<v Speaker 4>five seconds of what stan Stasiac used to do to
<v Speaker 4>people in nineteen seventy three.
<v Speaker 2>Like what the fuck was that?
<v Speaker 4>It's just somebody in the studio, Remember that stan Stasiac
<v Speaker 4>was a great heel for them, and whatever they could find,
<v Speaker 4>even if it was just like a whiff of a
<v Speaker 4>moment and a six man tag where he does something dastardly,
<v Speaker 4>they stuff it in there. And that's another thing that's
<v Speaker 4>still alive and well with the Colisseum videos, and was
<v Speaker 4>the case with the early ones where they were really
<v Speaker 4>digging into the archives of the pre National Expansion, pre
<v Speaker 4>MTV WWF and kind of surfacing stuff from the early
<v Speaker 4>seventies the mid seventies, people who were still around, like
<v Speaker 4>Lou Albano, but in totally different lifetimes and incarnations. Oh yeah,
<v Speaker 4>Pedro still there. But they show Pedro at his peak
<v Speaker 4>as WWWF champion against George Animal Steele on this tape,
<v Speaker 4>who's still around but just totally different. You know, to
<v Speaker 4>think of Steel the eighties, babyface turnbuckle chomping George Steele
<v Speaker 4>as like one of the most dastardly heels.
<v Speaker 2>I know, he's actually more exciting as a heel, like
<v Speaker 2>he actually I was intrigued, yes, watching him face Pedro.
<v Speaker 4>They throw gorilla bone they throw Pat Patterson a bone. Yep,
<v Speaker 4>you know, anybody who's still in the good graces of
<v Speaker 4>the inner circle of WWF.
<v Speaker 2>Definitely.
<v Speaker 4>Uh, they dig a little deeper than the archives to
<v Speaker 4>find ways to spotlight them. Not that you know a
<v Speaker 4>Pat Patterson was always not always a babyface, but often
<v Speaker 4>babyface in WWF was doing the dastardly tactics. But they
<v Speaker 4>found a match from Shay Stadium with him in Torquamata
<v Speaker 4>so that they could show Torkamada throw the salt again
<v Speaker 4>as much about the tactics that Heels used as much
<v Speaker 4>as no, I'm not going to accept that I thought
<v Speaker 4>I won this one.
<v Speaker 2>No, no, you did? You did you? Oh? Good?
<v Speaker 4>Okay, great? If I won, then you can go ahead
<v Speaker 4>and say it. It's well, it's kind of a it's
<v Speaker 4>it's kind of a halfway thing. So it was before
<v Speaker 4>we were doing the Colosseum collection. It was back when
<v Speaker 4>we kind of were just sporadically doing them, and it
<v Speaker 4>was digging in the crates days, And it wasn't one
<v Speaker 4>of the official traditional Colosseum tapes.
<v Speaker 2>This was the ww Collectors Series. Yes, ww's Greatest Matches.
<v Speaker 2>It had three matches, it had Hogan versus Orndorf from
<v Speaker 2>the Maple Leaf Gardens. It closed off it had Bob
<v Speaker 2>Beckham versus Iron Chic from the Garden. It had a
<v Speaker 2>weird tag team title match with Greg Valentine and Bruce
<v Speaker 2>beef Kick versus Hillbellet Jim and Uncle Elmer, and then
<v Speaker 2>it had the the title match.
<v Speaker 4>Yes, that's right, and that was sort of like was
<v Speaker 4>that kind of like an off brand Colisseum?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it was a I mean if you look at
<v Speaker 2>that Colisseum, you know there's those the website where they
<v Speaker 2>have all the oats. Yeah, and it's like if you
<v Speaker 2>go way way way down, like there's a second kind
<v Speaker 2>of listing. You know, they get the W the wfo
<v Speaker 2>oh whatever series and then if you go way way down,
<v Speaker 2>I'm gonna find it. But they have different different names
<v Speaker 2>of them, like they have like WS that and I
<v Speaker 2>think this was a COO or C. It began with
<v Speaker 2>a C this particular. Yeah, they have the C the
<v Speaker 2>CS series and yeah this is CSOO one. Still a
<v Speaker 2>Colosseum video, but it's a weird. It's in that weird
<v Speaker 2>category where they were like they were they were shrunk down,
<v Speaker 2>they were very very short. I mean not that these
<v Speaker 2>didn't run short, but you know, they usually I would
<v Speaker 2>say most of the Colosseum tapes would go like ninety
<v Speaker 2>minutes to two hours, and these these CS labeled tapes
<v Speaker 2>were like this CS Collector Series Culture Series tapes were
<v Speaker 2>like an hour and hours right.
<v Speaker 4>Right, And I remember we got into it if you
<v Speaker 4>go back and listen to that episode about the whole
<v Speaker 4>notion being like, how can we get something at a
<v Speaker 4>cheaper price than right, the premium that new VHS is
<v Speaker 4>used to command, I mean to buy a view. We've
<v Speaker 4>talked about this so many times over the years, including
<v Speaker 4>on the Colosseum collection. I mean, you're out like eighty
<v Speaker 4>bucks in nineteen eighty three for a fucking HS. Ridiculous.
<v Speaker 2>I mean think of how that translates. But you're gonna
<v Speaker 2>get the type forever, so I mean, just watch this
<v Speaker 2>movie for free forever. So why you got to pay
<v Speaker 2>a premium.
<v Speaker 4>Fund That's what's amazing. The consumer didn't bat an eye.
<v Speaker 4>It's not like everybody lined up to, you know, drop
<v Speaker 4>eighty bucks in a tape. But I never sense that
<v Speaker 4>people were shocked by that. They were like, yeah, that's
<v Speaker 4>I understand why that's so expensive. What a luxury to
<v Speaker 4>be able to have that, And now it's like we're
<v Speaker 4>fucking we treat it like it's dirt to have access
<v Speaker 4>to a movie.
<v Speaker 2>We you know, I remember I remember people getting so
<v Speaker 2>pissed when when COVID first hit and we're all, you know,
<v Speaker 2>locked down, and the only way they could, you know,
<v Speaker 2>they were releasing new movies that were just in theaters
<v Speaker 2>to be able to rent or purchase, and people were
<v Speaker 2>getting pissed off because movies were being were costing twenty
<v Speaker 2>dollars to watch it home. And I'm like, well, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>if you were going to go to the fucking movie theater,
<v Speaker 2>you'd be paying twenty dollars a ticket, right, So what
<v Speaker 2>do you complaining about? And like you're also not spending food.
<v Speaker 2>Think about how much you would pay to go to
<v Speaker 2>the movies to see this movie. If you include tickets
<v Speaker 2>and you include food, you're paying twenty bucks to watch
<v Speaker 2>it and you have like you can watch it as
<v Speaker 2>many times as you want within the amount of the
<v Speaker 2>rental period. So go fuck yourself. Yep. So if you're
<v Speaker 2>gonna own it, you're gonna pay a premium. Right.
<v Speaker 4>It's like you know, a bar has to pay way
<v Speaker 4>more to show a pay per view than an individual does,
<v Speaker 4>because one hundred people are going to watch that pay.
<v Speaker 2>Per view at the bar, exactly.
<v Speaker 4>But you're gonna make up for it by all the
<v Speaker 4>other things you can sell to those people. But you
<v Speaker 4>better believe you're gonna pay a premium to show it
<v Speaker 4>to that many people. We're not gonna charge you the
<v Speaker 4>same amount we charge an individual to watch the show.
<v Speaker 4>And it's almost like that model made everybody enough money
<v Speaker 4>to produce actual good stuff all the time instead of
<v Speaker 4>you know, two good things a year and a bunch
<v Speaker 4>of slop that just filled the airwaves the other way,
<v Speaker 4>or a fucking menu of streaming channels that are just
<v Speaker 4>like one topic playing all day. It's like everything's a channel.
<v Speaker 4>Have you have you seen a smart TV lately? Everything's
<v Speaker 4>a channel, like, oh, here's a chance, here's here's a channel,
<v Speaker 4>a fucking Gordon Ramsey channel, and all day all they
<v Speaker 4>do is play Gordon Ramsey archive with digitally inserted you know,
<v Speaker 4>programmatic advertising. And it's like, don't even charges you for anymore.
<v Speaker 4>It's free out of the box. It's on the fucking
<v Speaker 4>TV because it's worth nothing now, right, And unless you
<v Speaker 4>can play ads against it, and it's like, it's so
<v Speaker 4>weird you got to place ads. So I don't know, man,
<v Speaker 4>there's a reason that anybody who grew up in this
<v Speaker 4>era has such a fondness for VHS collections and physical
<v Speaker 4>media and why these things command a ridiculous premium on eBay.
<v Speaker 2>I did not own nearly as many VHS tapes as
<v Speaker 2>I eventually owned DVDs. Yeah, and now I own fucking
<v Speaker 2>digital copies of movies.
<v Speaker 4>And I'll tell you what I remember just about every
<v Speaker 4>single VHS I did own. It is it meant something
<v Speaker 4>when you got your hands on those motherfuckers. It was
<v Speaker 4>a real Christmas gift.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, yes, it absolutely was, because it was like because
<v Speaker 2>also you got to think about this as well. This
<v Speaker 2>is another thing, is that you know. I mean I'm
<v Speaker 2>looking at at at movies that came out in November
<v Speaker 2>and they're already available to be purchased for streaming. Yes, okay,
<v Speaker 2>Like that's insane to me, right, because back in the day,
<v Speaker 2>you had to wait at least six months for a
<v Speaker 2>VHS maybe a year. Isn't what you're already streaming is
<v Speaker 2>already streaming. Yeah, yeah, we bought it because now they
<v Speaker 2>can get more money, people can watch it at home,
<v Speaker 2>get more money. You know, it's not I mean, it's
<v Speaker 2>not about convenience, all right, it's about making money obviously,
<v Speaker 2>but well it isn't. But I think it's But I know,
<v Speaker 2>I was like, I was actually a little disappointed when
<v Speaker 2>I saw that. I'm like, really, like, it's been out
<v Speaker 2>for a month and you're streaming it in.
<v Speaker 4>A world that just constantly tells us that it's all
<v Speaker 4>about scarcity value. You know, It's like the card collectors
<v Speaker 4>now all they talk about is one of ten's one
<v Speaker 4>of twenty. I never thought about that ship when I
<v Speaker 4>was a kid, had no idea how many cars. I
<v Speaker 4>just knew that the fucking Michael Jordan Rookie card was
<v Speaker 4>a ton of money because it said that in the book.
<v Speaker 4>I didn't know how many were printed. All I wanted
<v Speaker 4>were like a thousand Dwight Evans cards. Sure that was
<v Speaker 4>your guy, that was that was.
<v Speaker 2>That was my fucking and that was my guy. That
<v Speaker 2>was my I don't I don't know why he was
<v Speaker 2>my I.
<v Speaker 4>Don't know why George Brett was well I do, I think,
<v Speaker 4>I think, I don't know, you know what I think,
<v Speaker 4>I know why. I think because Dwight Evans kind of
<v Speaker 4>looked like Tom Selleck, and I was like, as a kid,
<v Speaker 4>I really liked magnum p. I kind of how I
<v Speaker 4>like Chris Jackson on the Denver Nuggets because I liked
<v Speaker 4>Bo Jackson. And if Bo knows all he must have,
<v Speaker 4>is that why you like Jackson Pollocks different?
<v Speaker 2>Oh my god, that's so funny.
<v Speaker 4>But no, it's like, and now know what its like,
<v Speaker 4>it doesn't a hurt to anybody in the movie business
<v Speaker 4>that maybe scarcity value would apply beautifully in the you
<v Speaker 4>know in that.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, it absolutely would, But you know the problem
<v Speaker 2>it's I don't know, I mean, the movie business is
<v Speaker 2>so it's so it's so weird.
<v Speaker 4>The ticket tickets just make it available in a limited window.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah that's the ticket, you know, like all right, you
<v Speaker 4>can stream it, but just this.
<v Speaker 2>Weekend and the full I mean, I guess that's you
<v Speaker 2>know what. That's where it kind of was weird to me,
<v Speaker 2>is that it wasn't that they were just they were
<v Speaker 2>selling it already. If they were saying, hey, you know what,
<v Speaker 2>on New Year's Eve, you can rent Wicked, but then
<v Speaker 2>it's going away, that I could understand that would have
<v Speaker 2>been pretty cool.
<v Speaker 4>Sell sell as five ads, you know, like right to
<v Speaker 4>people that don't have the tip top tiers for ad
<v Speaker 4>free sell five ads.
<v Speaker 2>See. I don't even know if they were doing that.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know. I don't know if it's streaming on
<v Speaker 2>peacock or not. But it was like you, it was
<v Speaker 2>available to buy, like you go on iTunes and buy
<v Speaker 2>it and and I did you know? Of course, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>don't do it. I'm just saying that's not the but
<v Speaker 2>but but no, it's like you you you rent it,
<v Speaker 2>you say, here for twenty four hours. You can rent
<v Speaker 2>Wicked like you have the availability, but it won't be
<v Speaker 2>available to purchase for another.
<v Speaker 4>Would create so much excitement, totally would It'd be like
<v Speaker 4>a fucking super.
<v Speaker 2>What do we learn And it's no coincidence that, uh,
<v Speaker 2>we're talking about Wicked and we just talked about the
<v Speaker 2>Wizard of how what do we learn from that? What
<v Speaker 2>made the Wizard of Oz special was that you could
<v Speaker 2>only see it at that one time a year. That's
<v Speaker 2>what made it special, not because you can watch it
<v Speaker 2>whenever you want, but because it was a it was
<v Speaker 2>it was appointment television that everyone was going to watch it.
<v Speaker 2>Because this is the only time I would love that.
<v Speaker 2>I would love that if if they were able to
<v Speaker 2>take away some movie or something and like, you know what, No,
<v Speaker 2>you cannot watch this movie anywhere. If you've bought it.
<v Speaker 2>You've bought it. But you cannot watch this movie anywhere
<v Speaker 2>unless you watch it on this night far before. I
<v Speaker 2>love it. I would love it if they you know what,
<v Speaker 2>I'll tell you what. I would love it if they
<v Speaker 2>went and fucking took It's a Wonderful Life, took everyone's
<v Speaker 2>copies away from them, right, they went house to house
<v Speaker 2>except mine. All right, I'll keep some listen, I'll keep
<v Speaker 2>I'll keep some fucking you know, digital file on a
<v Speaker 2>cloud sid.
<v Speaker 4>Look, if you care enough to buy the physical media,
<v Speaker 4>it's yours. That's fine. I never the problem with that
<v Speaker 4>taking place of what was It's a Wonderful Life available
<v Speaker 4>on DVD two days later after it came out in theaters.
<v Speaker 2>That's the point of that. That's exactly exactly for me
<v Speaker 2>to diagnose society's ill when I was a kid. When
<v Speaker 2>I was a kid, okay, when when Batman came out,
<v Speaker 2>all right, when the Michael, the first Michael Keaton Batman
<v Speaker 2>came out, I loved it so much. I probably share
<v Speaker 2>about this moment that Batman returns, but I loved it
<v Speaker 2>so much. I was so fucking into it that when
<v Speaker 2>I didn't even know, like about maybe I don't remember
<v Speaker 2>when it was like, but a few months afterwards, I
<v Speaker 2>was convinced it was going to be out on video
<v Speaker 2>at any moment, and so I said, Mom, I know
<v Speaker 2>that video cassettes are expensive, but I need this as
<v Speaker 2>soon as it comes out. And every day I came
<v Speaker 2>home from school, my heart was pounding, hoping that it
<v Speaker 2>had happened and it was going to be there and
<v Speaker 2>I could watch Batman at all.
<v Speaker 4>Does that sound like something the industry should just piss away?
<v Speaker 4>That's that feeling that magic doesn't sound like that to me,
<v Speaker 4>sounds like something you hold on to as pretty much
<v Speaker 4>the reason you do it.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean it was. It was like I mean
<v Speaker 2>it was. It was so like, oh, it was awful
<v Speaker 2>because all I wanted to do was watch this movie,
<v Speaker 2>and and I just, you know, I did not I
<v Speaker 2>didn't even know. I didn't even know when the schedule
<v Speaker 2>was going to come out, Like I didn't, you know,
<v Speaker 2>I didn't know. I did not seek out advertisements of
<v Speaker 2>that kind where they say, hey, you know, Batman is
<v Speaker 2>gonna be on video. So I really had no clue
<v Speaker 2>what it was going to be out. All I knew
<v Speaker 2>was that I wanted it, and I wanted it now
<v Speaker 2>so perfect.
<v Speaker 4>Like I was saying, far be it from me to
<v Speaker 4>diagnose society's ievils not. I've never been known to do that. Well,
<v Speaker 4>we're not going to get it back on track until.
<v Speaker 2>We get what are you getting back on?
<v Speaker 1>What?
<v Speaker 4>Appointment viewing back? Until we all agree that appointment viewing
<v Speaker 4>is the only way to have a cohesive society in
<v Speaker 4>this multimedia world we live in, we're just going to
<v Speaker 4>be We're going to remain as fractured as ever because
<v Speaker 4>we're going to be on our own timelines in our
<v Speaker 4>own worlds, and there's not going to be something that
<v Speaker 4>we all have to hop on the train at the
<v Speaker 4>same time and find a way to get along.
<v Speaker 2>This creates, this is what creates the device, the divisive
<v Speaker 2>nature of the country. Right, that's correct, and the world.
<v Speaker 2>It's correct, that's correct, all right, Like we we there
<v Speaker 2>is nothing that we unless you know, it's not common
<v Speaker 2>that we have something that brings so many people together.
<v Speaker 2>There's so little left and it's all the super Bowl
<v Speaker 2>and super Bowl appointment view you know, like that's that's
<v Speaker 2>like it appointment viewing, ye to many choices in America.
<v Speaker 2>It's not help raw on Netflix. I mean, yeah, we're
<v Speaker 2>on Netflix. That's appointment viewing right there.
<v Speaker 4>It's going real well, can't look the transfer of the
<v Speaker 4>back catalog is blowing my mind. It looks like we're
<v Speaker 4>not going to get anything but WWE. No WW no ECW,
<v Speaker 4>no territories, no work last okay here here?
<v Speaker 2>What about this though? What about this? What if you
<v Speaker 2>did get all of that but it was under WWE,
<v Speaker 2>I meaning they own all the footage they do. What
<v Speaker 2>do you mean, WWE? This is WWE one supertas between
<v Speaker 2>the van Erks. Look, if they want honestly differences, it's
<v Speaker 2>a WWE super Brawl, right, w Superrawl ninety one.
<v Speaker 4>If it's the difference between me having access and not
<v Speaker 4>having access, fine, you can put the ww logo all
<v Speaker 4>over all of it.
<v Speaker 2>I could care less. And they changed all the opening
<v Speaker 2>you know, all the opening things that it does say WWE.
<v Speaker 2>You know, like that would be great American Bash in
<v Speaker 2>ninety one.
<v Speaker 4>No wonder they no wonder they don't think it's worth
<v Speaker 4>all the work. But what's been worth all the work
<v Speaker 4>for us for ten years running going into twenty now
<v Speaker 4>is man the reciprocal nature of effort and reward out
<v Speaker 4>from the solar system. When we've gone the extra mile,
<v Speaker 4>the solar system is recognized in ways big and small.
<v Speaker 4>And we're calling upon you with just days left to
<v Speaker 4>really deliver the ultimate vote of confidence, because it's going
<v Speaker 4>to ricochet past our ears and hearts, that is to say,
<v Speaker 4>your co chair's ears and hearts, and out to the
<v Speaker 4>wider podcasting world, who, let's face it, doesn't have the
<v Speaker 4>appropriate level of respect for what we've been doing over
<v Speaker 4>here for ten years, doesn't understand why people would be
<v Speaker 4>so driven to give and to support and to latch
<v Speaker 4>onto us as their train conductors through not only a
<v Speaker 4>life in wrestling fandom, but a life you challenged by
<v Speaker 4>the the anchor of nostalgia. How about a life worth living?
<v Speaker 4>Life worth living? And a way to demonstrate that, And
<v Speaker 4>let's say, the latest and perhaps the greatest way to
<v Speaker 4>demonstrate that is in the Sports Podcast Group Sports Podcast
<v Speaker 4>Award for two thousand and twenty four. You're running out
<v Speaker 4>of time to vote for the lapsed fan in the
<v Speaker 4>Best Wrestling Podcast category.
<v Speaker 2>I know that you have to have you know, you
<v Speaker 2>have to have other contenders up there to just that's
<v Speaker 2>just the way you do things. But there really shouldn't
<v Speaker 2>be anybody else up there.
<v Speaker 4>Not when we decide like we'd like to be acknowledged
<v Speaker 4>on this particular year of TLFX. You know we're not
<v Speaker 4>going to bogart this thing. We don't need to constant.
<v Speaker 4>But when we when tlf decides it's time for merit
<v Speaker 4>to triumph, when when craft effort, dedication, just the way
<v Speaker 4>we marched through Sid's life, even though we told ourselves
<v Speaker 4>we wouldn't, we knew.
<v Speaker 2>What we had to do.
<v Speaker 4>Yes, we understand what it is you need us to do.
<v Speaker 4>And every now and then you get the chance to
<v Speaker 4>really acknowledge that. And these awards, which close on January thirteenth,
<v Speaker 4>in terms of your ability to vote on the website,
<v Speaker 4>I think is going to be the best, the best
<v Speaker 4>signal that we can and send to everybody else that
<v Speaker 4>we're not fucking around over here. It hasn't been a game,
<v Speaker 4>and if you've overheard, it will continue to not be
<v Speaker 4>a game. So what we're calling upon you to do
<v Speaker 4>if you haven't seen all of our links on social
<v Speaker 4>it's been our pinned tweet on x ferment for many
<v Speaker 4>weeks now put a bunch of stuff on Instagram about
<v Speaker 4>it as well. Sports Podcastgroup dot com is the website,
<v Speaker 4>and then at the top you can click the awards
<v Speaker 4>drop down menu and then you'll see twenty twenty five shortlists,
<v Speaker 4>and on there you can click through the best Wrestling
<v Speaker 4>Podcast icon. We're there along with a bunch of other shows,
<v Speaker 4>and you just cast your vote, and you just have
<v Speaker 4>to put in an email address and answer a few
<v Speaker 4>questions about your podcast consumption habits for the organization, and
<v Speaker 4>then you.
<v Speaker 2>Just say, right, what podcast you consume the laps fan,
<v Speaker 2>It's the labs.
<v Speaker 1>Fan wrestling podcast, the wrestling podcast that knows the boys
<v Speaker 1>and their candy. It's the Lapsed Fan. He's the Lapsed
<v Speaker 1>Fan Wrestling podcast with Jack and Carno and jpso well.
<v Speaker 4>I don't think there's any open response textboxes. I think
<v Speaker 4>it's mostly multiple choice. But if I'm forgetting that there
<v Speaker 4>is a chance to write the lapsed fan, write the
<v Speaker 4>lapsed Fan, thank you very much, and just vote, vote early,
<v Speaker 4>and often get all your friends to vote, all your
<v Speaker 4>family members to vote, you know, with different email addresses
<v Speaker 4>wherever the case.
<v Speaker 2>I think I said, I think I was mistaken in
<v Speaker 2>that it was a one time only thing. I think
<v Speaker 2>you can vote multiple times.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, there's ways to do it if you're so inclined.
<v Speaker 2>There's ways to do it. I think I think there
<v Speaker 2>are with same email too. I think I think I
<v Speaker 2>was mistaken.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, that's that's What's another thing that's so brilliant about
<v Speaker 4>these Popularity Contest awards, and it's most votes. Not only
<v Speaker 4>do we have to do these things and have to
<v Speaker 4>fucking do a campaign, but we all also have no
<v Speaker 4>idea if really who got the most votes is going
<v Speaker 4>to be exactly around the winner.
<v Speaker 2>We know, And uh, sir, I tell you, we got
<v Speaker 2>an influx of votes on this uh this what is
<v Speaker 2>it called Time Lapsed Fan Show?
<v Speaker 4>I mean, this show has been getting more votes than
<v Speaker 4>some of our NFL podcasts.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, what is it? What they what do they
<v Speaker 2>talk about? Well, sir, there you know, they talk about
<v Speaker 2>wrestling and professional wrestling, and I don't know, they kind
<v Speaker 2>of laugh at their own jokes a little bit. And
<v Speaker 2>this one guy, he's a real asshole. He does a
<v Speaker 2>lot of voices and it really is annoying. But I
<v Speaker 2>sort they're getting a lot of ooid. But you know,
<v Speaker 2>they don't they don't appreciate sure, so let me tell you, you
<v Speaker 2>know what, I'll tell you something else. These guys are ridiculous.
<v Speaker 2>They don't appreciate people's time. These guys go talking for
<v Speaker 2>fucking six hours, eight hours, twelve hours. They've got one
<v Speaker 2>episode that lasted like fifteen hours. I don't Well, that's
<v Speaker 2>just not acceptable, Dennis, that's not acceptable. You have just
<v Speaker 2>what no, you know what, Who's Who's Who's the second one? Sir,
<v Speaker 2>I'm there's a wrestling podcast. I don't know what the
<v Speaker 2>hell that is. Well, just fuck these laps fan guys
<v Speaker 2>and just put the second guys in. This is not listen.
<v Speaker 2>I'm not gonna listen. We're not gonna we're we're a
<v Speaker 2>legitimate and you know organization. We're not gonna gonna gonna
<v Speaker 2>fucking showcase a fucking, you know, college level garage podcast.
<v Speaker 4>As Bruce Pritchard himself once said of the lapsed fan,
<v Speaker 4>yeah fuck him too. So do the right thing, folks.
<v Speaker 2>Let him know.
<v Speaker 4>Let let's place our faith in the system here. Sports
<v Speaker 4>Podcastgroup dot Com you know what I did one time.
<v Speaker 2>This is reminded. So, uh you remember Landon Zach him
<v Speaker 2>sure from Emerson. So he uh, he had it. He
<v Speaker 2>made a short film and it was up for They
<v Speaker 2>had a weird MTV had like a weird like student
<v Speaker 2>film award. Kevin Nashwoodell fucking loved it. Yeah, but he
<v Speaker 2>was a judge. He probably wasn't judge, but they you know,
<v Speaker 2>they they did the same thing where you could vote.
<v Speaker 2>You know, it was a popularity contest. And so one
<v Speaker 2>time he asked me if I would come over to
<v Speaker 2>his his his mom's house, and I did, and we
<v Speaker 2>stayed up all night just fucking on our laptops voting
<v Speaker 2>for his fucking movie. Isn't that great? I mean, isn't that?
<v Speaker 4>Doesn't that achieve precisely what the awards set out to do?
<v Speaker 2>I mean, it's it's it's it's the whole. It's it's Patterson.
<v Speaker 2>You just get a bunch of cable boxes and or
<v Speaker 2>the show or our show, so we can show we
<v Speaker 2>had a good sale.
<v Speaker 4>Titan Towers has like four hundred thousand cable bills coming.
<v Speaker 2>Just imagine like like like you know, a giant warehouse.
<v Speaker 2>All right, with with massive like metal shelving units, and
<v Speaker 2>each shelf is stacked stacked with like you know, like
<v Speaker 2>like you get like twenty five it's like fifty cable
<v Speaker 2>boxes on one.
<v Speaker 4>Shelf, absolutely stacked. And they got like hundreds of shelves,
<v Speaker 4>hundreds of shelves, and they're just ordering paper. There's some guys.
<v Speaker 4>There's just some clown who's kind of fucking all right press,
<v Speaker 4>I'm a clicker here.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah. Yeah, by purchase, purchase, purchase.
<v Speaker 4>You can get like you can get four hundred thousand
<v Speaker 4>people in like Bangalore to do it through Accenter or something,
<v Speaker 4>you know, Deloitte. We'll look you up. Yeah, that's that's
<v Speaker 4>the way you want to run things. We'll fine, we'll
<v Speaker 4>play by the rules. We'll see what happens. But it is,
<v Speaker 4>it is pretty amusing. I have to say, well, we
<v Speaker 4>got involved in this trying to try to win this thing.
<v Speaker 4>I had no clue that it was popularity contest until
<v Speaker 4>the end. I was like, oheah, shit, Like you feel
<v Speaker 4>like because you kind of submit materials to be considered
<v Speaker 4>and it gives it gives this impression that like there's
<v Speaker 4>like a panel you know that's gonna work at.
<v Speaker 2>It right, well, and I guess they did for the nomination.
<v Speaker 2>I guess yeah.
<v Speaker 4>Who knows how many people stepped up and tried to
<v Speaker 4>get in, But my god, just do the right thing, folks.
<v Speaker 4>I mean, you know, this is the year. We're not
<v Speaker 4>gonna come begging hat in hand for you're at a
<v Speaker 4>boy every year. But we felt the TLFX was the
<v Speaker 4>time to do it. We put out amazing stuff in
<v Speaker 4>twenty twenty four, as you know, we finished Lapstunk, we
<v Speaker 4>did the sid thing under the cinemat was fucking on
<v Speaker 4>fire with the Bond Journey and just just the ones
<v Speaker 4>ones He's and Tuesdays along the way too. Let's not forget,
<v Speaker 4>you know, the heart of the show. It's just fucking
<v Speaker 4>randomness and hilarity, even when we don't have to turn
<v Speaker 4>the whole format over to one thing for eight months. Yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 4>which people keep calling on us to do, by the way,
<v Speaker 4>which is so hilarious, Like.
<v Speaker 2>What is this going to end?
<v Speaker 4>And then as soon as it ends, when you're gonna
<v Speaker 4>do another one? I don't know how much you willing
<v Speaker 4>to pay, bitch? Yeah right, I think we're about to
<v Speaker 4>find out the answer to that question. But yeah, so
<v Speaker 4>the sports Podcast Group Sports Podcast Awards, do vote for
<v Speaker 4>the Lapsed Fan if you will or within the sound
<v Speaker 4>of our voice and deem us worthy. And if you
<v Speaker 4>are within the sound of our voice and don't deem
<v Speaker 4>us worthy, you can go fuck yourself.
<v Speaker 2>That's right.
<v Speaker 4>One organization that is cordially invited to not fuck themselves
<v Speaker 4>this year are our friends over at Titan Nutrition. Boss
<v Speaker 4>Yes talked about how when the calendar turns to a
<v Speaker 4>new year, a lot of folks out there are motivated
<v Speaker 4>to get in shape, to hit the gym. And if
<v Speaker 4>you want to do that in a lapsed Fan approved way,
<v Speaker 4>our good friends.
<v Speaker 2>A Titan hanging bang boiler the other way.
<v Speaker 4>To get that clang on, get that clang it's many
<v Speaker 4>a season. Lang on, it's many a season. So I'm
<v Speaker 4>sure Dwayne's ig is about to light up with a
<v Speaker 4>whole workout stuff.
<v Speaker 2>Fucking you know, we'll get a bunch of late night
<v Speaker 2>workouts and stuff and cheat shake meals.
<v Speaker 4>And with his eyebrow raised over an electrifying stack of
<v Speaker 4>pancakes and.
<v Speaker 2>He's gonna, you know, how that fucking that that cam,
<v Speaker 2>that selfie camera like way up over his head, you know,
<v Speaker 2>and you know, just basically basically what I'm saying, it's stuff,
<v Speaker 2>it's content that's not nauseating. Oh man.
<v Speaker 4>And by the time you hear this, you will probably
<v Speaker 4>be able to take in our premium live call for
<v Speaker 4>the Rod debut on Netflix. And if where we stand
<v Speaker 4>now recording this before that happens, is any indication Daddy's
<v Speaker 4>home rocks back and everyone always can follow the fuck
<v Speaker 4>back until.
<v Speaker 2>I imagine, I would imagine that all creative has already changed.

<v Speaker 4>and it's one of those great unwrapped you have done.
<v Speaker 2>Wrap it. You can't tell ye what show it's going
<v Speaker 2>to be, what movie it's going to be. Nope, and man,
<v Speaker 2>that is it. Did you achieve something with the Wizard
<v Speaker 2>of Oz, I mean it was it was a long
<v Speaker 2>time coming. Honestly, it's it's been it's been a dream
<v Speaker 2>to actually finally dig into that one. And you know,
<v Speaker 2>I know, Christmas Movie Season unfortunately did have to take
<v Speaker 2>you know, the actual season where I planned to do
<v Speaker 2>had to go on the back burner in order to
<v Speaker 2>achieve this, because you know, I wanted to do as
<v Speaker 2>much as I possibly could, go back to the beginning
<v Speaker 2>and talk about the original author L. Frank Baum, and
<v Speaker 2>you know, and what I was happy about was that
<v Speaker 2>it wasn't just the obvious connection. It wasn't just you know,
<v Speaker 2>the the Kevin Nash Oz connection, right, that there actually
<v Speaker 2>were wrestlers in the movie itself, and and that was
<v Speaker 2>that was a fucking treat. But then also to you know,
<v Speaker 2>I mean, you said it to be able to fucking
<v Speaker 2>burst Nash's bubble about the Oz being a place and
<v Speaker 2>a person not just not just a geographical region, but
<v Speaker 2>also that an individual.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, Oz is not a just a geographical region. No,
<v Speaker 4>it is a name of a person in the cannon.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, it's the name of your It's a name of
<v Speaker 2>the person who rules the Kingdom of Oz. They are
<v Speaker 2>known as Oz so Frank Baum. Yes, and listen, he
<v Speaker 2>is the only authority that I trust. He's only authority
<v Speaker 2>that exists exactly. It's his authority.
<v Speaker 4>So under the cinemat coming back strong in twenty twenty five.
<v Speaker 4>This is the time folks to get over to patreon
<v Speaker 4>dot com slash the lapsed fan to qualify for exclusive
<v Speaker 4>content like that up in the moat tier our nearest
<v Speaker 4>and dearest have access to Wrestle Mamia, where the boss
<v Speaker 4>Man sits down back in that living room carpet and
<v Speaker 4>watches wrestling with the most representative mom that any wrestling
<v Speaker 4>fan should recognize. What's coming up, Well.
<v Speaker 2>The start to the new year. I actually sat down,
<v Speaker 2>you know, I tried it there. There. There have been
<v Speaker 2>a whole page of request from back from a while
<v Speaker 2>that I've had that I've been slowly getting through, and
<v Speaker 2>we One of them was believe it or not, the
<v Speaker 2>Greatest Royal Rumble. Yes, that fucking ninety minute garbage royal rumble.
<v Speaker 4>You know what else, you could call it the worst
<v Speaker 4>royal rumble.
<v Speaker 2>He's absolutely right. And so I sat with my mom
<v Speaker 2>for ninety minutes and we watched the the worst greatest
<v Speaker 2>Royal rumble and it was just, you know, that was rough.
<v Speaker 2>That was although you know, she she did she enjoyed
<v Speaker 2>a little bit of it. She enjoys it all the time, but.
<v Speaker 4>Can't wait to see what she says about Titus falling down.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, exactly it and what they want. I think I
<v Speaker 2>think you might have Were you here for this one?
<v Speaker 2>I meant, I don't know, but next up you'll you'll
<v Speaker 2>have it by this point, But maybe this is actually
<v Speaker 2>pretty Uh, it's kind of maybe significant given that Raw,
<v Speaker 2>under Triple H's guidance, is coming to Netflix on the
<v Speaker 2>same day. But just by lap serendipity, you will have
<v Speaker 2>listened to by this point Triple H versus Eugene.
<v Speaker 4>Oh, one of his proudest programs.
<v Speaker 2>Really were you were You? Were you there? Were you
<v Speaker 2>there for that one? I remember?
<v Speaker 4>I think I was there to explain Eugene to her,
<v Speaker 4>but I don't know if it was that one or not.
<v Speaker 4>And I do remember talking about Eugene with her, but
<v Speaker 4>it all kind of blends together. I know, Eugene, there's
<v Speaker 4>a journey one day.
<v Speaker 5>Man.
<v Speaker 4>Back then, they were showing their true selves and they
<v Speaker 4>had no idea. Yes, I mean, listen, that was the
<v Speaker 4>that one's not going to make it over to Netflix.
<v Speaker 2>No, it is not. This is not appropriate for Netflix. Yah.
<v Speaker 2>I gotta start getting that one down. Oh my god.
<v Speaker 2>Netflix Triple H is like, you know, the show can
<v Speaker 2>be as long as it needs to be. That's the great.
<v Speaker 2>It's like, no, you're gonna make it the same. Let
<v Speaker 2>me tell you something. Let me tell you something, all right.
<v Speaker 2>The beauty of Netflix is the content dictates the timeframe.
<v Speaker 4>Couldn't be more excited, gonna be more excited about fucking
<v Speaker 4>five hour raw God, because because content dictates. I'm not
<v Speaker 4>saying they shouldn't do it. It's good practice. But can
<v Speaker 4>you imagine, like any other sport, like just screaming and
<v Speaker 4>celebrating that they're changing stations, just find the game, not
<v Speaker 4>the funck on?
<v Speaker 2>What's funny? Is like? Is that right? Is that it's
<v Speaker 2>it's usually not the the the you know, the program
<v Speaker 2>that's excited. It's usually the channel. You know, like when
<v Speaker 2>whenever you hear about, you know, any of the football games,
<v Speaker 2>like the channels excited that they have football. Netflix doesn't care. Well,
<v Speaker 2>you're just another fucking thing for them, you know.
<v Speaker 4>I I'll push back little on that because this is
<v Speaker 4>their first for ring A Live as far as weekly,
<v Speaker 4>I guess this works for them. Then they're in play
<v Speaker 4>for all the other major sports. Yeah, but watch how
<v Speaker 4>fast they fucking went, right. They're guinea pigs.
<v Speaker 2>Basically, they're saying, well, what's something that you know already has, right,
<v Speaker 2>and it's not gonna really hurt us that much if
<v Speaker 2>we fucking if we fuck this up? What what is
<v Speaker 2>the one Yeah, what's the one kind of live program
<v Speaker 2>that if it fails, you know we're not going to
<v Speaker 2>lose that many subscribers. It's just too much the ad campaign.
<v Speaker 2>If you can't fake this, it's like, of course you can.
<v Speaker 2>That's what they get. Well, that's what they do.
<v Speaker 4>The whole thing. It's all fake. They do fake it
<v Speaker 4>like right, it's too rich. I'm so excited about this.
<v Speaker 4>I'm so excited and in such a perverse way. And
<v Speaker 4>again the way to share in the joy is Patreon
<v Speaker 4>dot com slash the last fan. Oh my goodness, so
<v Speaker 4>many tears, so much excitement going on. We're going to
<v Speaker 4>kick the live calls in another gear with the Flick's debut,
<v Speaker 4>with the return of Saturday night's main event coming up
<v Speaker 4>at the end of the month, or of course, only
<v Speaker 4>Royal Rumble, which is gonna be in February this year.
<v Speaker 4>I have to say the super Bowl is going to
<v Speaker 4>be February, the second week of February. I didn'tn realize
<v Speaker 4>that till last week and looked it up. So that's
<v Speaker 4>really the Rumbles.
<v Speaker 2>So yeah, late, well because they add another fucking week
<v Speaker 2>to the schedule, or do they did last year? I
<v Speaker 2>don't know when they that happened.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, fucking not not a fan, but hell, at least
<v Speaker 4>it's in America. How about the rumble in Saudi next year?
<v Speaker 4>Any problem with that? I don't think so, I guess
<v Speaker 4>would be the greatest Royal Rumble two? I mean, what's
<v Speaker 4>wrong with giving the Saudi's the Royal Rumble?
<v Speaker 2>Listen? Listen, No major pay per view should fucking be
<v Speaker 2>on uh a different time zone than me. Okay, that's
<v Speaker 2>the bottom line. You can do your rumble. It'll starts
<v Speaker 2>at noon on a Friday, fuck mine. I mean listen.
<v Speaker 2>I'll tell you what. When I was a kid, I
<v Speaker 2>would have fucking dreamt for that shit. I would have
<v Speaker 2>begged for that shit. You know, if I could have,
<v Speaker 2>if I could have watched the the like the ninety
<v Speaker 2>four Rumble in the afternoon, I would have fucking wet pants,
<v Speaker 2>fucking creamed myself.
<v Speaker 4>I heard, I heard WrestleMania is going to start at
<v Speaker 4>six am Eastern on Easter.
<v Speaker 2>But actually kind of calculate exactly when, uh, you know,
<v Speaker 2>Jesus fucking opened the thing so that they can start WrestleMania.
<v Speaker 4>So Triple H can come out at that exact moment.
<v Speaker 2>Right right, they can. He can push a rock over
<v Speaker 2>a fucking tomb. I mean, I get I get that.
<v Speaker 2>Again is a big accomplishment for him, But should he
<v Speaker 2>be the main focus of every single promo video for
<v Speaker 2>wronggoing to Netflix? Yes, with his button, with his open collar.
<v Speaker 2>You know, it's kind of obnoxious. I mean, I'll tell
<v Speaker 2>you what. If there was one thing that Vince nick
<v Speaker 2>Man did do that was very good was that he
<v Speaker 2>normally didn't take that kind of attention.
<v Speaker 4>No, you know, No, he wasn't desperate for you to
<v Speaker 4>see him as a mastermind, yeah, or a creative genius
<v Speaker 4>or whatever. Like this guy is, like he's the first
<v Speaker 4>and last thing you see on everything that has to
<v Speaker 4>do with WW making.
<v Speaker 2>Like conditioned us to need it. They've conditioned us to
<v Speaker 2>like this. I don't need it. I don't care. I'm
<v Speaker 2>only doing this because you're telling me we have to. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>that's true. That's true.
<v Speaker 4>Now the Solar System told us we have to because
<v Speaker 4>when we experimented with it for the first time, I mean,
<v Speaker 4>we've saw credible returns. People were like, okay, fine, Like
<v Speaker 4>this is actually a way for me to stay connected
<v Speaker 4>to current wrestling without subjecting myself to the fucking water
<v Speaker 4>torture that it can so often be. So we're glad
<v Speaker 4>to be, We're glad to play. It's it's it's it's fun.
<v Speaker 4>It's fun beer on Monday night exactly exactly, So looking
<v Speaker 4>forward to that or I'm sure we enjoyed ourselves. I
<v Speaker 4>should say, I'm kind of at a time warp right
<v Speaker 4>now because so rarely do we have a Monday Night one.
<v Speaker 4>But looking forward to continuing to provide that we watch
<v Speaker 4>modern wrestling so you don't have to service for your
<v Speaker 4>Patreon dollar. Of course, you also get ad free versions
<v Speaker 4>of this show at Patreon. You get ad free archives
<v Speaker 4>back to a certain date, and you get shows before
<v Speaker 4>anybody else in terms of like part twos and deep
<v Speaker 4>dives and things like that. And we're looking to ramp
<v Speaker 4>it up in twenty five as well. Do some more
<v Speaker 4>goodies available for your Patreon dollar this year? If all
<v Speaker 4>goes according to plans, so for sure, really appreciate your
<v Speaker 4>support there, Boss. I thought we'd start this return to
<v Speaker 4>the Coliseum Collection with a little bit of a little
<v Speaker 4>bit of news clipping. I've sent it to you, yes,
<v Speaker 4>And what this is is we did this throughout the
<v Speaker 4>course of the Colisseum Collection. Just look through newspapers for where,
<v Speaker 4>you know, promotional spots or little writeups would appear for
<v Speaker 4>the latest Coliseum video releases, just to put us back
<v Speaker 4>in the energy of it actually being newsworthy that there
<v Speaker 4>were new VHS tapes on the shelves to buy. There
<v Speaker 4>were columns and all the major newspapers devoted to the
<v Speaker 4>video industry, devoted to what the hot new releases were
<v Speaker 4>on home video.
<v Speaker 2>Of course, of course, you know it was, it was important,
<v Speaker 2>it was honestly, you know what it was. This was
<v Speaker 2>a different kind of appointment.
<v Speaker 4>Viewing, and as we spent a lot of time documenting
<v Speaker 4>in the early days of the Colisseum Collection, the WWF
<v Speaker 4>tapes were way towards the top of the most closely
<v Speaker 4>watched VHS release this in the industry at the time,
<v Speaker 4>because they were way ahead of the other sports in
<v Speaker 4>having an entrade to this market. That's always been something
<v Speaker 4>you can say about the WWF and pro wrestling and
<v Speaker 4>generally but specifically the WWF is they've always been right
<v Speaker 4>on the cutting edge of new distribution technologies, be a
<v Speaker 4>pay per view, be it streaming over the top, be
<v Speaker 4>it DVD and in this case the Netflix yak. Of
<v Speaker 4>course they try it first, and so if you're covering
<v Speaker 4>the video industry and what's selling and what's hot at
<v Speaker 4>the time of rock and wrestling, you got to talk
<v Speaker 4>about them. So they found themselves getting ink whenever they'd
<v Speaker 4>come out with new rounds of coliseum videos. And this
<v Speaker 4>is part of a as we talked about, a three
<v Speaker 4>tape set that gets brought up. But we're going to
<v Speaker 4>give you a lot more context around what was hot
<v Speaker 4>on the shelves at that time, because that's what we
<v Speaker 4>like to do. Indeed, the piece from June eighty six,
<v Speaker 4>right around the time of Villains of the Squared Circles release,
<v Speaker 4>give it to.
<v Speaker 2>Embossed the Salt Star TV time. Here when last we
<v Speaker 2>tuned in Jack Colton, Michael Douglas, and Joan Wilder, Kathleen
<v Speaker 2>Turner quote sailed off into the sunset atop Jack's beloved
<v Speaker 2>angel Line, after having survived the jungles of South America
<v Speaker 2>and Romancing the Stone. Uh, you know, I've seen it
<v Speaker 2>like a couple of times. It's been a long time.
<v Speaker 2>It's fine. It's kind of a yeah, it's kind of
<v Speaker 2>like a you know, uh like Guineana Jones kind of.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know if it's a spoo or rip off.
<v Speaker 2>I should watch it again. I never loved it, like
<v Speaker 2>a lot of people loved this.
<v Speaker 4>So it's not coming soon under the cinemat.
<v Speaker 2>Uh No, not that I know of, not that I know,
<v Speaker 2>but they you know, there's there's always something that's I'll
<v Speaker 2>always say, I say this, you know what, never say never.
<v Speaker 2>That's all.
<v Speaker 4>It release on VHS justifies like a lead and a
<v Speaker 4>news story is just what.
<v Speaker 2>I mean. And you're talking about Michael Douglas and and
<v Speaker 2>Kathleen Turner, like two of the biggest stars of the time,
<v Speaker 2>so you know, easily it's like it's crazy now here
<v Speaker 2>it is mir quote. Months later, and Jack and Joan
<v Speaker 2>have settled into a humdrum routine of a run of
<v Speaker 2>the mill relationship. Will as run of the mill as
<v Speaker 2>things can get when you're on a voyage around the
<v Speaker 2>world and so begins the return of Jack and Joan
<v Speaker 2>in the release of The Jewel of the Nile CBS
<v Speaker 2>Fox Video released June twenty fifth. The Adventures sequel delivers
<v Speaker 2>more of the same thrills, spills and all around fun
<v Speaker 2>as its predecessor, and as sequels go, it holds up
<v Speaker 2>extremely well. True. The boy has girl, Boy loses girl,
<v Speaker 2>Boy rescues girl plot is predictable, but the characters give
<v Speaker 2>this jewel its sparkle. Michael Douglas looks a touch more
<v Speaker 2>haggard than the last go around, but Kathleen Turner hasn't
<v Speaker 2>lost a degree of the body heat that she's become
<v Speaker 2>famous for. Danny DeVito is delightful once more as greedy
<v Speaker 2>rotten Ralphie and Avner Eisenberg is appropriately off the wall
<v Speaker 2>as the jewel that everyone is seeking. And three cheers
<v Speaker 2>for the people at CBS Fox Video. This is the
<v Speaker 2>third time that the video label has it concentrated its
<v Speaker 2>entire month's energies on only one major multi release. That
<v Speaker 2>what I was trying to say, that's a welcome breath
<v Speaker 2>of fresh air, especially in an industry where most studios
<v Speaker 2>seem to spend each month trying to flood the market
<v Speaker 2>with as much trash as possible. New releases, Country stars
<v Speaker 2>Mel Tillis and Roy Clarke play a couple of bumbling
<v Speaker 2>conmen wrestlers.
<v Speaker 4>I guess because I've already gotten into the colisseum section.
<v Speaker 2>As action comedy. Brother, what right we're talking about? Whoa? Dude? Whoa?
<v Speaker 2>That's my genre, brother, I created it, dude and music.
<v Speaker 2>The Going is Uphill All the Way New World video,
<v Speaker 2>released June twenty fourth. The pursuant of the pursuit of
<v Speaker 2>romantic fantasies runs into a lot of comic complication in
<v Speaker 2>Beginner's Luck New World video released June twenty fourth. Amelia
<v Speaker 2>Westavez and Craig Sheffer survive the challenges of a teenage
<v Speaker 2>friendship in That Was Then, This Is Now Paramount Home Video,
<v Speaker 2>released June twenty fifth. On a more serious note, the
<v Speaker 2>lies of young runaways come under eye opening scrutiny in
<v Speaker 2>the superb production of street Wise LCA New World video

<v Speaker 2>choose from thanks to Paramount Home Video. On Tap Lucca
<v Speaker 2>de la mare Les, troyans Ermanni and Live Live from
<v Speaker 2>the Met Highlights Volume one. I guess they're trying to
<v Speaker 2>get do best of the best of the best of
<v Speaker 2>the met basically with that is Volume one, release June
<v Speaker 2>twenty fifth. Meanwhile, fans of the Three Stooges will find
<v Speaker 2>lots of nick nacks in Stooge Main. Brother, what student, Maia,
<v Speaker 2>What are you talking about? Dude?
<v Speaker 4>Stooge media. That's that's like when I came back in
<v Speaker 4>ninety three, Brother, Dude here stooge There is.
<v Speaker 2>Stouge media, isn't that? Isn't that kind of a what
<v Speaker 2>Patterson and Briscoe word? Then when they came up with
<v Speaker 2>Hogan's music, weren't they stooge Mania?
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, there's an episode of Raw that are pretty sure
<v Speaker 4>was subtitled stoge Mania.
<v Speaker 2>Freddy Krueger and his Notorious Glover are back for a
<v Speaker 2>return engagement in Nightmare and Elm Street Park two Freddy's
<v Speaker 2>Revenge Media Home Entertainment, released June twenty six. Jim Hanson
<v Speaker 2>unleashes four more volumes of Fraggle Rock Thorny m I
<v Speaker 2>HBO video released June twenty fifth. Three more chapters of
<v Speaker 2>the National Geographic video series have hit video stores. In
<v Speaker 2>the Spotlight Gorilla Monsoons, Yukon Maronelius Passage, and the incredible
<v Speaker 2>Hulk Hogan. Human Machine that was a that was Andre
<v Speaker 2>of the Mask.
<v Speaker 4>Right, that's just right, Human Machine, A Giant Machine and
<v Speaker 4>Human Machine.
<v Speaker 2>Have that one played by Frankie the Burg Human Machine
<v Speaker 2>vestdro on video release June twenty fifth, and three more
<v Speaker 2>heavyweight attractions have joined the wrestling video circus. I got
<v Speaker 2>that one in the Newcomers Villains of the Squared Circle,
<v Speaker 2>The Best of the WWE Volume seven, and Wrestling's Living
<v Speaker 2>I believe it's actually legend, not legends. Bruno Sam Martino.
<v Speaker 2>Remember they thought it was Bruno and Sam Martino Wrestling's
<v Speaker 2>Living Legends.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, it's almost like they think Wrestling's Living Legends is
<v Speaker 4>like a recurring series and this one's just about Bruno
<v Speaker 4>And I'm.
<v Speaker 2>Pretty sure it's just legend. On the actual tape, it's
<v Speaker 2>not legends, but.
<v Speaker 4>Is well pointed out by our good friend Christian Hollister,
<v Speaker 4>who's been keeping the year by year death toll of
<v Speaker 4>all the notables in the business that have passed since
<v Speaker 4>we started the podcast. Yep, when it came to Bruno's dead,
<v Speaker 4>he wrote, Bruno formally the Living legend, but now dead.
<v Speaker 2>Not the dead legend. If we could say the dead legend.
<v Speaker 2>Colssume video released June twenty fifth.
<v Speaker 4>You can stop there. But you know, what was your
<v Speaker 4>dream job, Jack, I don't know, maybe the home video
<v Speaker 4>columnist for a newspaper.
<v Speaker 2>You can just get excited about, right, Like first of all,
<v Speaker 2>you're you're gathering information about what everyone's going to be
<v Speaker 2>able to watch on home video, and like you don't
<v Speaker 2>have to really write anything.
<v Speaker 4>As you can use and it's you know, you know,
<v Speaker 4>comes out Thursday, so everyone can hit the stores on Friday.
<v Speaker 4>You know, you know, it's it's you know, it's preparation
<v Speaker 4>for people to just like compete with each other for
<v Speaker 4>those six copies.
<v Speaker 2>God blessing Eric, Eric Kohenick Cohenick Kohenick. Probably is how
<v Speaker 2>you say that one. I mean, just just the video file.
<v Speaker 2>It's just so quaint.
<v Speaker 4>That's such a thing was yep that existed and had
<v Speaker 4>utility and my god, my god. Well, let's get you
<v Speaker 4>caught up as far as is the colosseums that we've
<v Speaker 4>already done, because it has been years, as we've talked about,
<v Speaker 4>which is kind.
<v Speaker 2>Of blows my mind. But that is pretty crazy.
<v Speaker 4>They started the series, of course in eighty four with
<v Speaker 4>Wrestlings Bloopers, Bleeps and body Slams, then Helka Mania, then
<v Speaker 4>Best of WWF Volume one, and then they came out
<v Speaker 4>with the first WrestleMania on VHS, which has that you
<v Speaker 4>know Hogan with the Golden Tan animation on the front
<v Speaker 4>of it with mister t right that we all know
<v Speaker 4>and recognize. Then they did WWF's Most Unusual Matches, Andre
<v Speaker 4>the Giant and Best of Volume two. Then they did
<v Speaker 4>Wrestling's Biggest, Smallest, Strangest, and Strongest, Roddy Piper's Greatest Hits
<v Speaker 4>and Best of Volume three. The next trifecta was The
<v Speaker 4>Amazing Managers, Wrestling's Country Boys, which of course was Hillbilly
<v Speaker 4>Jim and Company, and Best of Volume four. Then they
<v Speaker 4>put The Wrestling Classic on VHS, which was their second
<v Speaker 4>foray into pay per view after WrestleMania. And then they
<v Speaker 4>did Tag Team Champions, The Life and Times of Captain
<v Speaker 4>Lou Albano, which is sure one of your favorite pods
<v Speaker 4>we very, and Best of Volume five.
<v Speaker 2>And then we did that fucking his movie The Coincide
<v Speaker 2>with that member we did Yeah what was it? Uh?
<v Speaker 2>Why guys? Yeah?
<v Speaker 4>Guys, and then a grudge matches the Ricky the Dragon's
<v Speaker 4>Steamboat tape and Best of volume six, and that's where
<v Speaker 4>we left you. They did come out with WrestleMania two
<v Speaker 4>on VHS between the Best of six and our subject
<v Speaker 4>duj your Villains of the Squared Circle, and as outlined
<v Speaker 4>there part of a trefecta with the Bruno Sammartino and
<v Speaker 4>Best of WWF volume seven that Sammartino WANs an example.
<v Speaker 4>By the time the tape hit the shelves, they were
<v Speaker 4>on the he was on the ship list right now.
<v Speaker 2>You gotta love that, right, We'll just make money off
<v Speaker 2>the guy. So there's a piece of shit.
<v Speaker 4>So this one is brought to you by Mean Giocoland
<v Speaker 4>who is in the w WF production facilities with the
<v Speaker 4>monitors behind him in a bow tie on and he's
<v Speaker 4>joined by the Heenan family, yes, in studio, Bobby the
<v Speaker 4>Brain Heenan and two of his charges, Big John Studd
<v Speaker 4>and King Kong Bundy.
<v Speaker 2>And how does it make you feel that none of
<v Speaker 2>those men are alive? Oh? All of them? Yeah, they're
<v Speaker 2>all dead. You don't want to know the death toll
<v Speaker 2>for this one man. You don't want to fucking know.
<v Speaker 2>I'm not going to tell you right now, but you
<v Speaker 2>don't want to know. Why can't you tell me right now? Well,
<v Speaker 2>you want to do deathil now, I.
<v Speaker 4>Kind of do because I have to be I have
<v Speaker 4>to have that in my mind as I comment going forward,
<v Speaker 4>I feel like I won't have the appropriate weight behind
<v Speaker 4>what I'm saying.
<v Speaker 2>And this is and keep in mind, this is only
<v Speaker 2>the people that I'm able to like just kind of know.
<v Speaker 2>I'm thinking about it. It is really bad, all right.
<v Speaker 2>This isn't like some of the referees because I don't
<v Speaker 2>know who the fuck they are or to ring announcers,
<v Speaker 2>I don't know who the fuck they are. They're all gone, right, Well,
<v Speaker 2>I know him that I knew. I knew that referee,
<v Speaker 2>but I didn't know you know, some of the other ones.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, but I want to tell you this. I
<v Speaker 2>I someone tell me that I'm wrong. Okay. I think
<v Speaker 2>this is an individual LAPS fan episode.
<v Speaker 4>Record wouldn't surprise me at least because there's so much
<v Speaker 4>seventy stuff too.
<v Speaker 2>Mm hmmm.
<v Speaker 4>And this, by the way, is a ninety minute tape
<v Speaker 4>compared to the three hour piece reviews.

<v Speaker 2>Damien Tour Kamata, Pat Patterson, George Steele, Pedro Morales, Stan Stasia, Blackjack, Lanza,
<v Speaker 2>Jay Strongo, sg strongbow S D Jones, Superfly, Roddy Piper,
<v Speaker 2>Mister Fuji, Frankie Williams, Terry Funk, Corporal Kershner, Iron Cheek,
<v Speaker 2>Freddie Blasti, Nikolai volkoff On Under the Giant, Rick McGraw,
<v Speaker 2>Bruno Sammartino, Oh Cousin Junior Bruno Sammartino, and Lou fucking Fez.
<v Speaker 2>Welcome nostalgia. It's not easy, boss No. With nostalgia comes.
<v Speaker 4>Loss, because when we started the podcast, inevitably a lot
<v Speaker 4>of those names were on the list, but there were
<v Speaker 4>always those few that were still around that were still likens.
<v Speaker 2>There are no meeting links anymore.
<v Speaker 1>Give the fan Wrestling podcast, the wrestling podcast that knows
<v Speaker 1>the boys need their candy. It's the Lapsed Fan. He's
<v Speaker 1>an Lapsed Fan wrestling podcast with Jack and Carno and
<v Speaker 1>J P. Soro.
<v Speaker 2>Think I'm gonna tell you off the top of my
<v Speaker 2>head the ones I can think about who were still
<v Speaker 2>alive when we started, Gene Okerland, Howard Finkel, Terry Funk,
<v Speaker 2>for sure, Terry Funk. I didn't even put Funk.
<v Speaker 4>Okay, good Bruno, Piper Bruno, Pedro Morales was alive.
<v Speaker 2>Patterson was alive. Kushner was alive. Corporate Kushner was alive. Yes, uh,
<v Speaker 2>you know this is she. Iron Cheek was alive. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>Nickolai Volkoff was alive. We've crossed a We've crossed a
<v Speaker 2>lot of the Giant was a lot. We've crossed some
<v Speaker 2>invisible line where it's like they're all dead. Now. Bobby,
<v Speaker 2>he was alive. I forget that barely right, well still,
<v Speaker 2>my god, you know, just think about that, like he
<v Speaker 2>he he died on our watch.
<v Speaker 4>We could comment on his brilliance with the lightheartedness of
<v Speaker 4>knowing he's still around instead of the fordal orderedness of
<v Speaker 4>knowing he's gone. Yep, and you know, people talk about,
<v Speaker 4>you know, us being with them throughout their thirties, right,
<v Speaker 4>that's it. We have to stop and realize, like, as
<v Speaker 4>we've been doing this podcasting, they've all all the cornerstones
<v Speaker 4>have gone.
<v Speaker 2>Up up in the sky. Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I mean Hogan is hanging on yep. But that's
<v Speaker 4>about it.
<v Speaker 2>Yep.
<v Speaker 4>Now people talk about like, you know, the nineties Soma
<v Speaker 4>users as like you know, Michael's and company. Is these
<v Speaker 4>these titans that are still walking the earth?
<v Speaker 2>I know, I know, it's like, you know, you look
<v Speaker 2>at you look at some.
<v Speaker 4>Of these these these guys and it's like, man, like
<v Speaker 4>these are It's It's just it was a different world.
<v Speaker 2>It was such a different world. It was such a
<v Speaker 2>I mean, yeah, it was there in some ways, it was.
<v Speaker 2>It was worse obviously, you know, in terms of the
<v Speaker 2>actual health of the health of the individuals and stuff
<v Speaker 2>like that. Sure, there were a lot of issues. I
<v Speaker 2>get that. But when you hear the reaction of the
<v Speaker 2>crowd when Pegro Morales starts hammering away say that one, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>hammering away at George Steele? What are the sent over it?
<v Speaker 4>So many times? But what what are you hearing in
<v Speaker 4>those voices?
<v Speaker 2>I mean you're I mean number one, you're hearing I mean,
<v Speaker 2>you're hearing that guy sound that we've always talked about,
<v Speaker 2>number one. But you're also hearing fans who are so
<v Speaker 2>desperate for their hero to win that they are that
<v Speaker 2>that that they they're they're they're there. It's like they're
<v Speaker 2>coming back from inches, like an inch before death. That's
<v Speaker 2>what it sounds like. These people are going crazy, and
<v Speaker 2>it's like they let me tell you something, wrestlers today,
<v Speaker 2>they couldn't get this if they fucking tried their fucking hardest.
<v Speaker 2>Not a single person, all right, not like that way,
<v Speaker 2>and not with that effort, not with the right, not
<v Speaker 2>with a punch. This is this is simple punches.
<v Speaker 4>This is the Northeast where this is just punch and kicking. Man,
<v Speaker 4>I mean a couple of Irish whips. Yes, didn't matter.
<v Speaker 2>It's because because it's it's it's not about the show.
<v Speaker 2>It's about it's about that feeling in your heart, yes
<v Speaker 2>inside as a fan watching Needing Eating is the one
<v Speaker 2>your hero eating to win? Okay, does anybody need anything
<v Speaker 2>anymore like that? I use example because it was it
<v Speaker 2>was the first pay per view I ever got, the amount,
<v Speaker 2>the the the way my heart was racing every time
<v Speaker 2>Marty Jeannetty got a close pinfall on Sean Michaels and
<v Speaker 2>that inner Continental title match of the Rumble ninety three,
<v Speaker 2>my heart was racing because I I was that close
<v Speaker 2>to having the win. Ah, it's a fucking brilliant vase.
<v Speaker 2>And I think you know it.
<v Speaker 4>The hopes and dreams being pinned on Pedro and seventy
<v Speaker 4>three throwing left hands in the garden against the hairy
<v Speaker 4>back George Steele. I don't give a fuck what where
<v Speaker 4>it stands on the pantheon. I don't care if we
<v Speaker 4>come up with numbers of how many people were that.
<v Speaker 4>I don't care.
<v Speaker 2>Here, listen to it, all right, just listen to it,
<v Speaker 2>because I obviously recorded it because it was just fucking money.
<v Speaker 2>But here, listen to it. Hrights right. That's it. I'm done.
<v Speaker 2>I quit, like like I can you, I mean, like
<v Speaker 2>you think about it if you're not being in that
<v Speaker 2>building at that moment, all right, like you're the Honestly,
<v Speaker 2>they say that a lot, and and but the amount
<v Speaker 2>of times I've heard clips from Madison Square Garden that
<v Speaker 2>we've we've watched shows, and and and the fans have
<v Speaker 2>reacted like that. It's a wonder to me that the
<v Speaker 2>building didn't collapse. Can you do me a favor and
<v Speaker 2>play it again?
<v Speaker 4>Yes, absolutely's nose rings.
<v Speaker 2>No, I got a pun if you can say that's.
<v Speaker 6>Light out.
<v Speaker 2>Again.
<v Speaker 4>It's not that Pedro is making us comeback and we react.
<v Speaker 4>It's every single punch, right because you don't know if
<v Speaker 4>there's going to be another one.
<v Speaker 2>That's just it, like exactly. It's not just the fact
<v Speaker 2>that he's that he's making the rounds here, he's like
<v Speaker 2>he's rebounding. It's the fact that he can acted a
<v Speaker 2>punch and he connected another one, which means he's that
<v Speaker 2>much closer to beating this fucking monster. How hard is it?
<v Speaker 2>Apparently a lot? You gotta flip around and fucking yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I mean feel that fucking that irish, fucking guy Rick
<v Speaker 2>Rick Richard.
<v Speaker 4>O'Shea just don't just don't, don't, don't try to take
<v Speaker 4>away my ability to enjoy this.
<v Speaker 2>It's it's like, you know, that's the you know, now,
<v Speaker 2>I never witnessed, I never witnessed, like in person right
<v Speaker 2>a moment like that, And I'm.
<v Speaker 4>Sure if we did, we'd be even more fanatical than.
<v Speaker 2>We Absolutely absolutely, people still this.
<v Speaker 4>Day that we're in the gardens back then just sit
<v Speaker 4>around and think about it all day.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, but I knew I I can relate to that feeling. Correct.
<v Speaker 2>We got it because we got a taste of it,
<v Speaker 2>because there was this need to have your guy win.
<v Speaker 2>Like It's funny, you know. I would often go when
<v Speaker 2>I would rewatch matches, same like, I use the same
<v Speaker 2>one example, the Shawn Michaels Janetty match. All right, I
<v Speaker 2>would rewatch it and I'd think to myself, Man, I
<v Speaker 2>remember how fucking crazy, how my heart was going thinking
<v Speaker 2>that Martin Jenny was going to beat Sewan Michaels there.
<v Speaker 2>But how lame would it have been? You know, like
<v Speaker 2>that in that moment, you're not thinking about, Man, I
<v Speaker 2>hope he hits his finisher perfectly and he gets the win.
<v Speaker 2>You're just saying, give me a fucking pinfall, find a way.
<v Speaker 2>It doesn't matter what it was, because all I wanted
<v Speaker 2>was for him to beat Sean Michaels and win the
<v Speaker 2>Intercontinental time.
<v Speaker 4>And you cared about the culmination of a story. But
<v Speaker 4>you never said that to yourself.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, no, because it wasn't like that, because the culmination
<v Speaker 2>was look, this guy fucking wrong to you a year
<v Speaker 2>and a half ago. He fucking wronged you, and you
<v Speaker 2>fucking better beat him or a a year ago. You know,
<v Speaker 2>like that's what it was. It was simply I wanted
<v Speaker 2>to see Sean Michaels get his come up and not
<v Speaker 2>about the storyline, but in a way, yeah, the resolution
<v Speaker 2>of a storyline.
<v Speaker 4>Storytelling is about come up and nothing less, nothing more.
<v Speaker 2>Yep, yep, It's about and it's about It's about the
<v Speaker 2>person you're rooting for winning. That's it. That's the story
<v Speaker 2>to tell.
<v Speaker 4>I'm so glad you isolated that sound because that was
<v Speaker 4>exactly what I keep doing on too. And it's awkward
<v Speaker 4>because it's like, this is a tape in eighty six
<v Speaker 4>talking about a wonderful time for WWF and that's from
<v Speaker 4>seventy three, but still, what does it say. I mean,
<v Speaker 4>when they settle down in eighty six to think of
<v Speaker 4>like true villainy, they ended up coming up with that clip.
<v Speaker 4>It says something. And even though it was over a
<v Speaker 4>decade old, and you know, and Hogan was getting crazy
<v Speaker 4>ass reactions. Yes, not going to deny that, but there's
<v Speaker 4>just something different because there is I'm gonna say Hogan
<v Speaker 4>in eighty six, I don't people weren't rabid.
<v Speaker 2>Not not for white now because he was. He was.
<v Speaker 2>He was like a celebrity in there. He was like
<v Speaker 2>a movie star in the ring. Right.
<v Speaker 4>Pedro was one of them that was just super tough
<v Speaker 4>and strong, right, And they didn't want Pedro. They didn't
<v Speaker 4>care if Pedro was someone that turned heads at Lax.
<v Speaker 4>You know, they could give a fuck if he If
<v Speaker 4>Johnny Carson wanted to have him.
<v Speaker 2>On, Yep, they don't care.
<v Speaker 4>They want him to beat ass wanted to fuck somebody
<v Speaker 4>up exactly that they would. You know that that has
<v Speaker 4>caused them to want to see get fucked up the
<v Speaker 4>person who has caused that. And then this case is
<v Speaker 4>shorten the animal Steel. He was really good at it
<v Speaker 4>before he became a babyface.
<v Speaker 2>I never understand who has a baby face? Honestly, he said,
<v Speaker 2>an idiot. Yeah, it was.
<v Speaker 4>It was very much Vince leaning into that, like, oh
<v Speaker 4>we got something here with this cartoonish stuff. You know,
<v Speaker 4>when he realized that like a Dick eber Sall and
<v Speaker 4>like a a New York TV media industry, world would
<v Speaker 4>get a kick out of wrestling if it was self
<v Speaker 4>aware about its uh campiness.
<v Speaker 2>You know, you know it's not you know, for not Listen, characters.
<v Speaker 2>I love you. I love what you do, all right,
<v Speaker 2>I love it, you know, the colorful characters. I appreciate that.
<v Speaker 2>You know, it's kind of it. You know, we we
<v Speaker 2>we say to ourselves, you know, characters, they're welcome in
<v Speaker 2>our in our business. I love that. I love that.
<v Speaker 2>I love that. You know, I was thinking about something.
<v Speaker 2>You know, you got this guy, the animal, that guy
<v Speaker 2>that you know, that the big hairball there whenever. His
<v Speaker 2>name is, yeah, George, George, I don't I don't care
<v Speaker 2>whatever his name is, I don't care. But what you know,
<v Speaker 2>you have him playing a bad guy. Listen, he's kind
<v Speaker 2>of a goofball. I looked at him. I see a
<v Speaker 2>huggable teddy I see a guy. You know, look at
<v Speaker 2>he's he looks like a teddy bear, and he's got
<v Speaker 2>the fucking hair of a teddy bear. No, No, you're right,
<v Speaker 2>absolutely is I mean I think you could you know,
<v Speaker 2>I don't know that. I'll tell you what. I'll tell
<v Speaker 2>you what. Look, it's your company. I'm not gonna tell
<v Speaker 2>you what to do. Of course, I'm just saying. I'm
<v Speaker 2>just saying that if if George, if it's this fucking guy, this,
<v Speaker 2>this animal dude, if he if he worked for me,
<v Speaker 2>you know, I make sure he was the this this,
<v Speaker 2>this lovable guy that everyone could you know, want to
<v Speaker 2>fucking stuffed animal, this fucking guy he called him at first,
<v Speaker 2>by the way, the first reference, I just I just
<v Speaker 2>want to make sure that I pointed that out. You know,
<v Speaker 2>this fucking guy, a lovable teddy bear. Should we call him?
<v Speaker 2>Should call him this fucking guy. I mean, that's what
<v Speaker 2>you want.
<v Speaker 4>So desperate to Dick ever Soul's approval, so desperate show
<v Speaker 4>me the way, Dick.
<v Speaker 2>Listen, listen, this is your guy, this is your this
<v Speaker 2>is a good genius. Is that what you want to
<v Speaker 2>call him?
<v Speaker 4>I understand, I appreciate that, but you do He's afraid
<v Speaker 4>Dick's gonna leave the room without him knowing exactly what
<v Speaker 4>he wants.
<v Speaker 2>We all know sick of fantic behavior like that in
<v Speaker 2>our lives. You know, he wants to do it's like
<v Speaker 2>just keep him, you know, he just it's like it's
<v Speaker 2>like all he wants to do is just please call me,
<v Speaker 2>Please just call me home anytime going midnight one Listen,
<v Speaker 2>it doesn't matter. All right, if you have ideas, I
<v Speaker 2>want you to call me. It's like you go through
<v Speaker 2>a whole hour meeting. Listen, I want to I just
<v Speaker 2>want to hear your voice.
<v Speaker 4>He wants to talk to his champion every day. Right,
<v Speaker 4>It's like you go through a whole hour meeting and
<v Speaker 4>that one sick of fan in the room. It's like,
<v Speaker 4>all right, so just just to recap. It's like, Okay,
<v Speaker 4>this whole meeting was just so this guy could feverishly
<v Speaker 4>write everything down action items or whatever. Why don't we
<v Speaker 4>just do the action items and call the meeting at
<v Speaker 4>five minutes.
<v Speaker 2>Oh, he's so desperate to be loved by Dick eversol.
<v Speaker 4>That's That's really an undertold part of Vince's story, I think,
<v Speaker 4>is how Dick showed him how to be an adult
<v Speaker 4>in the TV. Hey, how about you fucking light your shows, pal,
<v Speaker 4>instead of looking like it's emanating from a fucking dungeon
<v Speaker 4>every week?
<v Speaker 2>Wait? Can I do that? What do you mean light shows?
<v Speaker 2>I understand listening, you.
<v Speaker 4>Can't see their faces. Also, you can't see any people
<v Speaker 4>in the build. These fans going crazy. You don't con seem.
<v Speaker 2>Don't you want to see I want to see who's
<v Speaker 2>going nuts for these guys.
<v Speaker 4>This When does fucking Dick Eversol run numbers and queens
<v Speaker 4>by the way.
<v Speaker 2>From Litchfield?
<v Speaker 6>Isn't he where that came from?
<v Speaker 4>This guy ties sweaters around his neck. This guy is
<v Speaker 4>fucking Rodney Dangerfield's boss and lady bugs. Oh shit, Chester,
<v Speaker 4>if you keep this up, you're gonna have two men
<v Speaker 4>working under you.
<v Speaker 2>Hey, Jim, can you make him women? I don't think
<v Speaker 2>it was Jim his face right now?
<v Speaker 7>You are talking a face he think of his fucking
<v Speaker 7>that's that's kind of like that's the sound of faces
<v Speaker 7>freaking right.
<v Speaker 4>So what is this podcast about anyway? Well, this week
<v Speaker 4>they just like made a noise that Rodney Dangerfield's face
<v Speaker 4>makes for about twenty five minutes and didn't stop laughing about.
<v Speaker 2>But you said it's.
<v Speaker 4>About wrestling, right, Well, you know how a lady bugs
<v Speaker 4>The guy has a sweat around his neck while Dick
<v Speaker 4>ever saw they said, had did the same thing. But
<v Speaker 4>here I'm still not getting the wrestling part. Well we're
<v Speaker 4>getting there. That's what we do, bitch hashtags, just go
<v Speaker 4>find yourself, right. So this is hosted by Gene Heenan
<v Speaker 4>Studd and Bundy and I thought. We turned quickly to
<v Speaker 4>Bobby Heenan's books just to get quick reps on what
<v Speaker 4>it was like working with these particular heels that join
<v Speaker 4>us in the booth. At this point in the Colosseum videos,
<v Speaker 4>all they really do is offer, like, you know, two
<v Speaker 4>minutes of snarky commentary before we go to the next match,
<v Speaker 4>in kind of a voiceover mode. I am kind of
<v Speaker 4>amused envisioning boss like the recording sessions for these Oh yeah,
<v Speaker 4>Studd and Bundy and Heenan have to come in on
<v Speaker 4>a day off to Stamford and lay down the tracks.
<v Speaker 2>Oh I fucking I mean, I love that idea in
<v Speaker 2>the heart. I love the idea that they're just exactly
<v Speaker 2>just fucking miserable.
<v Speaker 4>So a tiny little room with microphones. It's just like
<v Speaker 4>filled with whirring production equipment that sends the temperature to
<v Speaker 4>like one hundred and ten degrees and here is there's
<v Speaker 4>bomby Heenon. I was glad to be working with old
<v Speaker 4>friends like stud Gen Oakreland and Hulk Hogan. One night
<v Speaker 4>in New York City, Jean was out in the town
<v Speaker 4>with Hogan. If you know what I mean, Jane always
<v Speaker 4>liked to second up to them. Hulkster would pay the bill.
<v Speaker 4>Is so great on Jeene halk Stew would pay the
<v Speaker 4>bill and let him come back to the hotel and
<v Speaker 4>to stretch Limo. Can you picture Gene doing that? Well,
<v Speaker 4>I think we're gonna take the limo, Terry, and it's time.
<v Speaker 4>I guess you call all right, brother, I mean if
<v Speaker 4>you want to hitch a ride.
<v Speaker 2>Well, I mean you know I was gonna take Limo.
<v Speaker 2>I don't I joined me. Brother, that's a little suspicious, dude.
<v Speaker 2>That's how wide lie do this wig Limo? Don't you
<v Speaker 2>say this white glide limo? I got going on? Is
<v Speaker 2>that what he said?
<v Speaker 4>Not that I got or that I hailed, or that
<v Speaker 4>I rented, but I got going on. It is like
<v Speaker 4>the limo he had going on to the Nassau Coliseum.
<v Speaker 2>Brother, what.
<v Speaker 4>Your limo's here, Terry. But for some reason, you never
<v Speaker 4>seem to leave in it. You just seem to get
<v Speaker 4>inside and then get out of it. You seem to
<v Speaker 4>receive things from it.
<v Speaker 2>You seemed to be it's almost as if it distributes
<v Speaker 2>to you.
<v Speaker 4>Certain it's almost more like it's a delivery of vehicles mechanism. Brother,
<v Speaker 4>Bobby writes Gine arrived at the hotel and immediately staggered
<v Speaker 4>upstairs to go to bed. About four in the morning, Jeane,
<v Speaker 4>with nothing on, got out of bed to relieve himself.
<v Speaker 4>He walked to the bathroom door, opened it up, and
<v Speaker 4>shut it behind him. He immediately realized that he wasn't
<v Speaker 4>in the bathroom. He was in the hall of the
<v Speaker 4>twelfth floor, naked as the day he was born, except.
<v Speaker 2>With a mustache. Oh my god.
<v Speaker 4>At first, Jean did not know what to do. He
<v Speaker 4>walked over to the window, took the drapes down and
<v Speaker 4>wrapped them around him. The elevator took him to the
<v Speaker 4>lobby with Jeane covered in the window dressing. He told
<v Speaker 4>the desk clerk who he was and that he had
<v Speaker 4>stepped outside of his room instead of going into the bathroom.
<v Speaker 4>The desk clerk laughed and said, don't worry about that,
<v Speaker 4>mister Oakland. Mickey Mannle stays here and he usually brings
<v Speaker 4>a friend up to his room. When she steals his watch,
<v Speaker 4>he chases her out of the room. The door shuts
<v Speaker 4>behind him, and he comes down here the same way too. Later,
<v Speaker 4>I told Oakerland, Jean, you're a hall of Famer little
<v Speaker 4>did he know, right, yeah, right the same year.
<v Speaker 2>Oh no, shit, that's funny.
<v Speaker 4>But yeah, just little slices of life, little vignettes of
<v Speaker 4>when Heenan would recall working with these particular gentlemen. At
<v Speaker 4>this particular time, He says, of Bundy, another member of
<v Speaker 4>my family was King Kong Bundy, or Shamou.
<v Speaker 2>As I called it. You mean, fucking humpy Dumpty. Here's
<v Speaker 2>the weirdest looking motherfucker. You know, every time we see
<v Speaker 2>fucking Gong Bundy, I'm like looking at him, I've just
<v Speaker 2>I've never seen like, you know what he looks like.
<v Speaker 2>He looks like a fucking uh uh, you know, a
<v Speaker 2>rock that you'd get at a lake to skip on
<v Speaker 2>the water. That's a good one because it's not like
<v Speaker 2>the thing is he's like what makes him so weird
<v Speaker 2>is that he's actually not thick, like his his body
<v Speaker 2>isn't deep. He's just wide. It's like he's a he's like,
<v Speaker 2>it's just you know, they show clips on me and
<v Speaker 2>he's like you see him, He's he's not much like
<v Speaker 2>his depth isn't much more than Hogan.
<v Speaker 4>No, it's just it's just it's weirds is shaped like
<v Speaker 4>a bar, like a brick, like a bar.
<v Speaker 2>So right, well, it's like somebody fucking like dropped a
<v Speaker 2>I don't know, like something on him, like a fucking
<v Speaker 2>construction vehicle on him, and he's fucking flattened out for
<v Speaker 2>a moment, like a pancake.
<v Speaker 4>And what's amazing about him is even though he's got
<v Speaker 4>this gargantuan size, somehow, what really stands out the most
<v Speaker 4>about him is like, does this guy have alopecia or something?
<v Speaker 2>Like? There's not a hint of hair on his head
<v Speaker 2>at all. He fucking showed his eyebrows for this ship,
<v Speaker 2>like do I do you remember it in World class
<v Speaker 2>when he had hair? Yes, I mean what happened? It's
<v Speaker 2>smoking a cigar, like you know, like whatever he was
<v Speaker 2>some fucking I mean from Kodiak. He's from like the
<v Speaker 2>Raskan wilderness. Yeah, King Kong Bundy from fucking wilderness. Makes
<v Speaker 2>no sense at all? Right, I mean, now this makes
<v Speaker 2>even less sense because he looks like a I don't
<v Speaker 2>even know what he looks like. He looks like a
<v Speaker 2>fucking are you humpty dumpty is what he looks like? Idiot?
<v Speaker 2>Or shamboo?
<v Speaker 1>Is?
<v Speaker 2>He didn't called it? I guess. Yes. Here's a name
<v Speaker 2>that Heenan.
<v Speaker 4>Calls out in the book that's listed in all the
<v Speaker 4>credits of the early Colisseum videos. Steve Heckt from Coliseum
<v Speaker 4>Videos had a big party in his house in Toronto.
<v Speaker 2>Heenan right.
<v Speaker 4>He invited Bundy and me to his party, but no
<v Speaker 4>one else would come. I thought I'd be nice to
<v Speaker 4>the guy and kiss up to him. What is Bundy
<v Speaker 4>like to eat?
<v Speaker 2>He asked me.
<v Speaker 4>He loves cornish hens. I said, honestly, I didn't know
<v Speaker 4>if that was true.
<v Speaker 2>I just made it up. He said, what doesn't he
<v Speaker 2>like to eat?
<v Speaker 4>It is absolutely right, I said, honestly, I didn't know
<v Speaker 4>if that was true. I just made it up. We
<v Speaker 4>got to his house. The guy had seventy five seventy
<v Speaker 4>five cornish hens out.
<v Speaker 2>Oh my god, did some lunch meat? Bundy had a
<v Speaker 2>baloney sandwich. Heck got stuck with seventy five chickens. Wow,
<v Speaker 2>that's spectacular.
<v Speaker 4>I managed King Kung Bundy in the main event against
<v Speaker 4>Hulk Covit at that WrestleMania. We see the angle from
<v Speaker 4>SNMI to set that up on the street.
<v Speaker 2>He was fun.
<v Speaker 4>He wore a black tunic to the ring. This is Bundy,
<v Speaker 4>and he was lily white with a bald head. I
<v Speaker 4>used to call him Shamou because he was white and
<v Speaker 4>black and about the size of the whale. We were
<v Speaker 4>sitting in first class on a plane to San Francisco.
<v Speaker 4>Bundy was asleep. The stewardess asked me anything I can
<v Speaker 4>get you?
<v Speaker 2>What's that? How can he sit in one fucking seat?
<v Speaker 2>That's a great question. He had to get two. He
<v Speaker 2>had to had to.
<v Speaker 4>Can you imagine sitting in a cramp dial and seeing
<v Speaker 4>this guy coming and praying he's not gonna sit next
<v Speaker 4>to you the fucking bad luck?
<v Speaker 2>Can you move over? It's me? Excuse me? Can I
<v Speaker 2>get off the plane? Please? Can I get I'm you
<v Speaker 2>know I'm not You want listen? You can have mine.
<v Speaker 2>I'm leaving. Excuse me? Got a set? Uh you're in
<v Speaker 2>my seat?
<v Speaker 4>Sure, sir, stewardess you you left the snack and beverage
<v Speaker 4>cart right next to No, that's for him.
<v Speaker 2>He needs a pre flight snack. Excuse me, stewardess.
<v Speaker 4>Can I be punished with pre fights pre flight snacks?
<v Speaker 4>He tailts his head back and they like lightly tap
<v Speaker 4>him with pretzel rocks.
<v Speaker 2>Is like fucking Homer Simpsons.
<v Speaker 4>I feel like, you know, because the thing is they
<v Speaker 4>didn't just fuck he doesn't, you know, when he's on
<v Speaker 4>a flight, he actually has to bring food to be fed.
<v Speaker 2>Like he can't. He can't just have a fucking back
<v Speaker 2>of peanuts or a back of pretzel or even an
<v Speaker 2>in flight meal. You know, he needs to have his
<v Speaker 2>own cuisine brought in because he's that fucking hungry. So
<v Speaker 2>he just he needs So he says, h Suretess here,
<v Speaker 2>can you feed me? My bros?
<v Speaker 4>Disgusting my Brot's like it's like it's something he needs
<v Speaker 4>to take for medical reasons, my brots.
<v Speaker 2>He just opens his mouth and she lowers them in
<v Speaker 2>like a garbage disposal, like a fucking he can see them, like,
<v Speaker 2>you know, you can see the form of them on
<v Speaker 2>his throat as it goes down. Look, I get eating them.
<v Speaker 4>I don't get having to go ah while you eat them.
<v Speaker 6>He just swallows them because because all the sausages are
<v Speaker 6>on the fucking you know, they're all tied together.
<v Speaker 2>He's aw long.
<v Speaker 4>So much snappy casing going down, So he's so like
<v Speaker 4>he's basically gott intestines in his intestines.
<v Speaker 2>When it's all said and done.
<v Speaker 4>Like he's hooked up to like a breathing machine in
<v Speaker 4>his dad last days and the family, the family brings
<v Speaker 4>him like Wendy's because that's.
<v Speaker 2>It's Wendy's day. I mean, who cares.
<v Speaker 4>He's yeah, he's in ic U, but we got Wendy's
<v Speaker 4>for him, like always. And you look at the dog
<v Speaker 4>and you're like, can I give him this? And they're like,
<v Speaker 4>he's he's on a he's on a breathing machine. You
<v Speaker 4>can't give him that. Come on, I spent ten dollars
<v Speaker 4>on it. And the doctor's like all right, and he
<v Speaker 4>just like finds a way to like liquefy it.
<v Speaker 2>And he's like he's shooting all over the room.
<v Speaker 4>It's been ground into like this thing that he technically
<v Speaker 4>can ingest. Let's so we have we have we have
<v Speaker 4>ground beef, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle and mustard man's ketchup
<v Speaker 4>and bread mushed together. All right, there's this somehow there's
<v Speaker 4>this mache machine that turns it into something that can
<v Speaker 4>go into his feeding.
<v Speaker 2>He's like he's like sitting there like he's barely awake.
<v Speaker 2>And and and the docs like the docs like listen
<v Speaker 2>he's on the I don't Also, I don't think he's
<v Speaker 2>gonna want this food. All of a sudden, he's like
<v Speaker 2>I hadn't grab his arm like it's coming out of
<v Speaker 2>the sewer like pennyway. Oh he wants it. I think
<v Speaker 2>he wants it. Well, all right, it's just.
<v Speaker 4>For some reason that the machine makes like the sound
<v Speaker 4>of a vacuum as it's liquefying the Wendy's.
<v Speaker 2>Twenty five. Well what that sound like?
<v Speaker 3>False?
<v Speaker 2>Again?
<v Speaker 4>You can see like like canuck a little bit drool
<v Speaker 4>falls underneath the mask. Outside it's just this, it's like
<v Speaker 4>it's all brown, except the lettuce is still green in
<v Speaker 4>the slur.
<v Speaker 2>Little specks of us. Oh Jesus, but it looks like
<v Speaker 2>a fucking like a nasty stew because the bun is
<v Speaker 2>because like they're.
<v Speaker 4>Feeding fucking orphanages, you know, oh, oh, like fucking dickens
<v Speaker 4>era for you know, orphanages that kind of mush.
<v Speaker 2>Given him Wendy's that's fine, Oh doctor, you know what
<v Speaker 2>I mean. Should put some fries in there. Put some
<v Speaker 2>fries in.
<v Speaker 5>The machine that converts Wendy's into fucking sloping.
<v Speaker 8>Like he's got it in the fucking he very rarely
<v Speaker 8>has to use this thing, but.
<v Speaker 4>Like there's some like quirk and state law where if
<v Speaker 4>like the patient's family requested, he has to do it.
<v Speaker 4>Like it's almost a it's like a religious like dietary thing.
<v Speaker 4>But like some families manuulated to get Wendy's. I mean,
<v Speaker 4>in his face, I don't even know how to use.
<v Speaker 4>He's kind of a cranky doctor. He's like Larry David
<v Speaker 4>kind of doctor.
<v Speaker 2>Really, I mean, come on, well.
<v Speaker 4>I think the point got across about Bundy. Holy ship.
<v Speaker 4>I don't know why I always do Big Show. He's
<v Speaker 4>the one I know serious because he's just you know,
<v Speaker 4>because again, big show's kind of like you know, let's say,
<v Speaker 4>because big shows was a dufus but uh, you know,
<v Speaker 4>big shows like normal size, like Bundy's weird, so like
<v Speaker 4>it's yeah, he should be go to.
<v Speaker 2>Normal normal proportions.
<v Speaker 4>You could say, yeah, right, yeah, Bundy.
<v Speaker 2>This is fucking heman.
<v Speaker 4>Lets do you think we're the ones that are comedians
<v Speaker 4>about this? Listen to his best buddy. He Bundy was
<v Speaker 4>asleep on the on the on the flight, the stewardess
<v Speaker 4>asked me, and I can get you. I said, yeah,
<v Speaker 4>I'll have a Scotch and water. She looked at Bundy.
<v Speaker 4>Would your friend like anything, Yes, bring him a pail
<v Speaker 4>of fish. He knew Bundy heard what I said. He
<v Speaker 4>leaned over on me and slept the whole way to
<v Speaker 4>San Francisco practically on top of me.
<v Speaker 2>He got me back.
<v Speaker 1>Get the last Tall wrestling podcast, the wrestling podcast that
<v Speaker 1>knows the boys need their candy. It's the Lapsed Fan.
<v Speaker 1>He's the Lapsed Fan Wrestling podcast with Jack and Carno
<v Speaker 1>and JP.
<v Speaker 4>Sorrow should bring me the fish exactly right. He thinks
<v Speaker 4>Bundy's just trying to like rid them back, but he's
<v Speaker 4>actually like kind of waiting for the fish.
<v Speaker 2>Close to it, close to the fish.
<v Speaker 4>All right, then put the center blocks on your ankles
<v Speaker 4>and here we go. And on John stud John Studd
<v Speaker 4>wanted to be the biggest guy in the business, but
<v Speaker 4>he couldn't because of Andre.
<v Speaker 2>He didn't wrote I like that. He wanted to be like,
<v Speaker 2>you know, it's not really your call, you know, you know,
<v Speaker 2>like it's through the right either you are you aren't.
<v Speaker 2>An nature is in charge of that. Remember what he what?
<v Speaker 2>He testified by telephone and Vince's to cancer stricken.
<v Speaker 4>To get up or whatever it was. When Andre would
<v Speaker 4>work with Stud, he would really bump him around. Stud
<v Speaker 4>couldn't take bumps because of his size. He would get
<v Speaker 4>in the ring with Andrea and get Paul verised, even
<v Speaker 4>losing some hair and getting some teeth loosened. Andre wanted
<v Speaker 4>Stud to stay on him and beat him down, and
<v Speaker 4>John simply didn't want to make him mad. On television,
<v Speaker 4>Stud would say he was the real giant, and I
<v Speaker 4>think Andre believed some of his interviews.
<v Speaker 2>Thus the the.
<v Speaker 4>Context we always talk about whenever we see Andre the
<v Speaker 4>Giant and John Studd on screen. Andre just he couldn't
<v Speaker 4>count it someone walking around calling themselves the real, true
<v Speaker 4>giant that pistol balls balls exactly. Peterra is going to
<v Speaker 4>describe later what it was like when they were in
<v Speaker 4>the same room together, you know, away from the ring.
<v Speaker 4>But yeah, Villains of the Square Circle. We get Jake
<v Speaker 4>Roberts versus Scott McGee on the tape, we do, we do.
<v Speaker 4>It's just beginning to slither his way into the consciousness
<v Speaker 4>of the WWF fan. They're not quite sure what to
<v Speaker 4>make of them here in April of nineteen eighty six, No,
<v Speaker 4>certainly not Torqummodover's Pat Patterson from nineteen eighty and Chase
<v Speaker 4>Stadium as we talked about super Baby Faced Pat Patterson
<v Speaker 4>June thirtieth, seventy three, George Steele versus Pedro Morales and
<v Speaker 4>you talked about it and it was appropriate not to
<v Speaker 4>call it out. I'm gonna share with you a clipping
<v Speaker 4>from WWF Magazine that you can hopefully share with the
<v Speaker 4>Solar System possible. Oh, this gives us an idea. I
<v Speaker 4>think of what I was talking about before, where it's like, yeah,
<v Speaker 4>this is you know, years and years ago on this tape,
<v Speaker 4>but it's at a time when Pedro is in the
<v Speaker 4>good graces of the company, and that the key to me,
<v Speaker 4>a symbol of that or signifier of that. As always
<v Speaker 4>the WWF magazine, Oh for sure, for some reason they're
<v Speaker 4>devoting inc to someone in WWF magazine. When Vince takes
<v Speaker 4>it over in eighty four, it's always with an agenda.
<v Speaker 4>It's always because he's got some plan to feature the
<v Speaker 4>guy and there's some kind of arrangement. We of course,
<v Speaker 4>when we were doing the World Class Journey, we made
<v Speaker 4>a lot of hey appropriately so about how there were
<v Speaker 4>these there's this big feature article on the Von Ericks
<v Speaker 4>in the WWF magazine right and how they were lighting
<v Speaker 4>Texas on fire and he didn't have them under contract
<v Speaker 4>and he had no short term plans at least for
<v Speaker 4>as we couldell to even bring him in. It led
<v Speaker 4>to years of speculation and concern from the other regional
<v Speaker 4>promoters that somehow Fritz was going to work with Vince
<v Speaker 4>to consolidate power.
<v Speaker 2>But that was it.
<v Speaker 4>We saw the earliest episodes of All American Wrestling where
<v Speaker 4>he's playing Greganya matches and Rick Flair matches and things
<v Speaker 4>from other territories, and it's like, Okay, he's got a vision,
<v Speaker 4>he's got a plan here to work with these people
<v Speaker 4>to basically buy them. He's putting over Hult Cogan on
<v Speaker 4>All American Wrestling before Hogan has even come back while
<v Speaker 4>to the promotion from the AWA. So here is kind
<v Speaker 4>of the beat you could say on Pedro Morales at
<v Speaker 4>the time. Love it that this video cassette came out,
<v Speaker 4>and probably why he was featured on it in the
<v Speaker 4>first So go ahead and take it away to.
<v Speaker 2>Some home conjures up a whole on I should say
<v Speaker 2>this here, Pedro the ring is his home. By Carol
<v Speaker 2>Buffin Buffing, undoubtedly a real person. To some home conjures
<v Speaker 2>up a picture of sitting in a cozy rocking chair
<v Speaker 2>in front of a crackling fire in the fireplace.
<v Speaker 4>I feel like I should play this while you're reading,
<v Speaker 4>you know, just to sort of set the appropriate stage.
<v Speaker 2>There you go exactly. To others, home is on the range.
<v Speaker 2>So this fucking did this go for a pulitzer? I hope.
<v Speaker 2>So home is where the heart is home. Oh my god,
<v Speaker 2>Oh my God.
<v Speaker 4>Okay, Jesus Christ, they go from this home conjures of
<v Speaker 4>a picture of sitting in a cozy rocking chair in
<v Speaker 4>front of a crackling fireplace.
<v Speaker 2>To others, home is on the range. Home is where
<v Speaker 2>the is home, sweet home. It's great stuff.
<v Speaker 4>I mean, so far, I am fucking riveted.
<v Speaker 2>But for Pedro Morales, home connotes a different meaning. Home
<v Speaker 2>for him is the world rousting entertainment what I grew
<v Speaker 2>up with the WWE. Pedro says, I've been wrestling since
<v Speaker 2>I was sixteen. I would like to try for a
<v Speaker 2>couple more years here in the world rustling entertainment. You know,
<v Speaker 2>a promoter here gave me my first A promoter here
<v Speaker 2>gave me my first opportunity. I'm never going to forget
<v Speaker 2>that nice of him. I'm never going to forget that
<v Speaker 2>that was nice of him. Great stuff, this fucking riveting interview.
<v Speaker 2>I thought home was where the Lefungo is or the
<v Speaker 2>col dulas. Well that too. Morales, who comes from Culebra,
<v Speaker 2>Puerto Rico, had been wrestling overseas in twelve countries prior
<v Speaker 2>to his homecoming. His homecoming despite home being in Puerto
<v Speaker 2>Rico WW a short time ago, he had been gone
<v Speaker 2>from the area for nearly three and a half years.
<v Speaker 2>Old scores to settle, as well as old friends beckoned
<v Speaker 2>the former champion back to the w W rings. When
<v Speaker 2>I left here, Pedro recalls, I remember I was wrestling
<v Speaker 2>Don Morocco and Madison Square Garden and I injured my knee.
<v Speaker 2>And before that, Greg Valentine put me, gave me that
<v Speaker 2>souplex on the cement floor, and for a while I
<v Speaker 2>was feeling bad about that, me too, totaling very bad.
<v Speaker 2>That's one way to say I was injured. I saw
<v Speaker 2>these old faces Morocco and Valentine and the worldsy entertainment,
<v Speaker 2>and I wanted to chase those sons of a gun
<v Speaker 2>sons of a Gun. We had many battles before, and
<v Speaker 2>I hope in the future I'll have a crack at them.
<v Speaker 2>I will wrestle anyone, but I especially want Morocco or
<v Speaker 2>Valentine for what they did to me. I think they
<v Speaker 2>are super athletes, that Puerto Rican Concedes. Valentine just was
<v Speaker 2>the WWE Intercontinental Champion and is a w W Tag
<v Speaker 2>Team champion. Morocco was a couple of times the Intercontinental Champion,
<v Speaker 2>and I think they're the greatest around. But I don't
<v Speaker 2>like their attitude towards me. That's why I hope to
<v Speaker 2>have a shot at them. I wrestled Morocco and he
<v Speaker 2>beat me for the Intercontinental title, and I beat him
<v Speaker 2>in the second time around, and then he beat me
<v Speaker 2>the third time around, and then I beat him the
<v Speaker 2>fourth time around, and then I went home. I'm serious.
<v Speaker 4>No, no, no, no, I haven't pulled up right now. I
<v Speaker 4>just that's the third time. It's just keep going on.
<v Speaker 2>Got you. I gotta get it. You had to fucking
<v Speaker 2>trifecta good job. And I'm hoping that someday I have
<v Speaker 2>a chance to beat him again. I don't care of us.
<v Speaker 2>It's like Morocco or Valentine anytime, singular tag team, whatever
<v Speaker 2>they want. I've wrestled the best, not only in the
<v Speaker 2>United States, but in twenty three countries on five continents.
<v Speaker 2>Morale states he doesn't list what continency wrestled them on.
<v Speaker 2>I'll let you know. It's like, maybe it's not some
<v Speaker 2>places we're thinking. Maybe he wrested to the Antarctica. We
<v Speaker 2>didn't even know it. Pedro remembers the way it was
<v Speaker 2>and is thankful for the way it is now. I'm
<v Speaker 2>like me, wait, what was it it? He has seen
<v Speaker 2>and done it all, so he has known the grapplers
<v Speaker 2>from the old school along with those of the new breed.
<v Speaker 2>He has seen wrestling grow and change and come into
<v Speaker 2>his own quote. I'm glad the media recognizes us more now,
<v Speaker 2>Pedro says, before we were drawing sellouts everywhere that we were.
<v Speaker 2>Before we were drawing sellouts everywhere that we were, but
<v Speaker 2>the media never paid attention to us. I'm glad that
<v Speaker 2>now we have the TV and the newspapers cover us
<v Speaker 2>everywhere we go. Now we have that big publicity from
<v Speaker 2>the media. And I'm glad because I remember wrestling all
<v Speaker 2>around the United States and we never were recognized, like
<v Speaker 2>now it's because of the WWE.
<v Speaker 4>It's hilarious about that. I will bet you that the
<v Speaker 4>newspapers covered the results of his matches two times more intensely,
<v Speaker 4>Oh when he absolutely a garden than eighty six, when
<v Speaker 4>all the articles they would write as the circus is
<v Speaker 4>coming to town and why do people watch this? I
<v Speaker 4>read the thing you put in, but it's not true.
<v Speaker 4>Well it is true now exactly, but it wasn't.
<v Speaker 2>You guys were writing the story. I was getting newspaper
<v Speaker 2>article that's like, exactly true.
<v Speaker 4>That's Vince's way of acknowledging that they used to sell
<v Speaker 4>out all the time before he took over. But it's
<v Speaker 4>still it's still better now.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, Pedro, listen, it's not true. You're remembering things wrong,
<v Speaker 2>you know. I think what I think actually happened was
<v Speaker 2>my dad wrote articles, you know, and his typewriter did
<v Speaker 2>you fall for that, pal? And he gave them and
<v Speaker 2>he did that to me too. He said, look, I
<v Speaker 2>love you, son, I'm a fucking typewriter. And it didn't
<v Speaker 2>mean anything. That's how I knew he was lying. Whenever
<v Speaker 2>I got a type message, I knew he was lying.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know he even really typed anything. He had
<v Speaker 2>someone He told someone to have someone else type it
<v Speaker 2>for him. What you saw wasn't real, just like what
<v Speaker 2>you do in the ring isn't real. Remember that what
<v Speaker 2>you do is think.
<v Speaker 4>What you saw wasn't real. You saw the first thing
<v Speaker 4>that the narrator says, and the secrets of wrestling reveal.
<v Speaker 2>What you do isn't real. Who you are isn't real.
<v Speaker 2>You're a figment of my imagination. With that said, the
<v Speaker 2>media is waiting. Pal. Now go say hello to the
<v Speaker 2>fucking media and talk about your entertainment. Don't say I
<v Speaker 2>had a match, Say I had I had an entertainment.
<v Speaker 2>Say it, I had a good entertainment. Say it right now.
<v Speaker 2>I had a good entertainment. I like your pedro.
<v Speaker 4>He says it like a fucking hostage. I had a
<v Speaker 4>good entertainment, comes naturally right, pound rolls off the tongue.
<v Speaker 2>I love it. See I bought it. I bought it,
<v Speaker 2>and I knew you're fucking fagan right now. I bought it.
<v Speaker 2>So there we go. Sell them. Get out there, talk
<v Speaker 2>about your entertainment. Entertain them about your entertainment. Of all
<v Speaker 2>the people to give this assignment to Patron. Morales, I
<v Speaker 2>don't fucking know his ass from a hole in the ground,
<v Speaker 2>no clue.
<v Speaker 4>I just want to tell you guys about my entertainment tonight.
<v Speaker 4>Oh do you mean your match Pedro?
<v Speaker 2>No, no, I don't.
<v Speaker 4>I don't have a match, he said, Well, hold on,
<v Speaker 4>he says, no, no, I didn't have a match. Awesome, Awesome,
<v Speaker 4>I think you know it. No, no, I don't have
<v Speaker 4>a match. In other words, like, I know why you'd
<v Speaker 4>say that, because that's exactly what it fucking was. But
<v Speaker 4>go out to work with me here, guys, I'm being
<v Speaker 4>told I can't say match.
<v Speaker 2>Oh Jesus Christ. But wrestling has always been very popular
<v Speaker 2>with the people, Morales continues. I remember because I've been
<v Speaker 2>wrestling a long time, and there have always been big crowds.
<v Speaker 2>I remember way back about fifteen years ago, and we
<v Speaker 2>want to solw that Madison Square Garden twelve to fifteen
<v Speaker 2>times straight. Basketball wasn't doing anything in there.
<v Speaker 4>Titan Sports. Yeah, I'm reading this magazine. Brother, Can I
<v Speaker 4>talk to Vince please?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah? Broler Terry what good side? Yeah, it's the magazine, dude.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, what are you selling out? Who's selling out?
<v Speaker 2>What you talk about?
<v Speaker 4>You told me when I came in here, brother, then
<v Speaker 4>no one ever sells out the garden until I, until
<v Speaker 4>hal Hoag got the strap. Brother, Well publish your own magazine.
<v Speaker 4>Hold on, Terry, how is this how the fans supposed
<v Speaker 4>to think about haul Hoag when they read this book? Terry,
<v Speaker 4>we're talking about the old Madison Square Garden?
<v Speaker 2>What all right? We're talking about forty.
<v Speaker 4>Ninth Street to convince it's the old for the fucking
<v Speaker 4>William Mulgoon, dude, f thank from fifties.
<v Speaker 2>No, you're talking about you're talking about that one fort
<v Speaker 2>nine street, massive Square Garden. It's not that old, bro.
<v Speaker 2>I came to what he's not that old? Brother? I
<v Speaker 2>could you math? How do you know exactly? I mean, listen,
<v Speaker 2>I'm just telling you what I have on my record books.
<v Speaker 2>You know my record books. Tell me that you know,
<v Speaker 2>prior to hul Kogan, we only worked Madison Square Garden
<v Speaker 2>in nineteen forty nine.
<v Speaker 4>To suffice it to say, Terry, when Bush comes to shove,
<v Speaker 4>he's not selling out the same garden you are, Pale.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, that's just a thing. You know, the garden
<v Speaker 2>was different than in the garden. You see, he never
<v Speaker 2>saw your garden. As Terry looks out on his garden
<v Speaker 2>at the back door, it's like, well, you got a
<v Speaker 2>good point there. Well I've never had paidro in my
<v Speaker 2>garden exactly, that's my point. Yeah. I think his name
<v Speaker 2>is Jose actually her brother. Can you hey, Jose or
<v Speaker 2>are you are you Paidro? Napoleon Dyeda My brother Terry
<v Speaker 2>gotta go.
<v Speaker 4>We worked out continue with the recitation.
<v Speaker 2>At least his basketball wasn't doing anything there. I mean, wa,
<v Speaker 2>nineteen seventies. I don't know. It's a good garden education
<v Speaker 2>for you, former tour guide. I mean, listen, it's been
<v Speaker 2>you know, it's funny. I was there actually, you know
<v Speaker 2>the other day we want to go see a show
<v Speaker 2>at the theater and I was like, man, so much
<v Speaker 2>of that information is just gone, wow, because I trying
<v Speaker 2>to think when they did so No, they were like
<v Speaker 2>some I can't imagine. I mean, look even now, I mean,
<v Speaker 2>even when the knicks are sucking, the basketball does fine there?
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, big status thing to go do. Yeah, Like
<v Speaker 2>I can't imagine that that's accurate at all.
<v Speaker 4>I mean, there are one thousand dollars clothes that the
<v Speaker 4>only place you can wear it to is an NBA game, Right,
<v Speaker 4>Why even fucking buy these things if you can't wear
<v Speaker 4>it to a Knicks game. I mean, yeah, he's talking
<v Speaker 4>about the seventies, like nineteen sixty seven to seventy five.
<v Speaker 2>Ers are the championship years. Oh, pag call him the
<v Speaker 2>championship years unless he's talking about after that. But we're
<v Speaker 2>hanging off the rafter about fifteen years ago, right, he's
<v Speaker 2>almost fifteen years ago, which is if this is eighty,
<v Speaker 2>what is it? Four five six? Ay six, so fifteen
<v Speaker 2>that's nineteen seventy one, So in the midst of these
<v Speaker 2>championship years. So what the fuck's he talking about? All Right?
<v Speaker 2>Basketball wasn't doing anything in there, Hockey wasn't doing anything.
<v Speaker 2>Just wrestling was packing them all in all the time.
<v Speaker 2>And not only in Madison Square Guarden. We were wrestling
<v Speaker 2>in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, Boston, Pittsburgh, and Chicago, and we
<v Speaker 2>were packing them in there before two Pada Morales is
<v Speaker 2>a longtime fan favored in the w WE. He doesn't
<v Speaker 2>want to disappoint those many fans, and so he tries
<v Speaker 2>to keep in the best possible shape at all times.
<v Speaker 2>It isn't always easy, so to keep to be to
<v Speaker 2>remain a babyface. He's got to have he's got to
<v Speaker 2>be in good shape. Right, That's that's what the message is.
<v Speaker 2>He can't be like like like a fucking uncle Elm,
<v Speaker 2>there'd be a slothful baby face, of course, not one
<v Speaker 2>Uncle Elmer. Right, you got then you got to buy overalls.
<v Speaker 4>It's a big fucking thing. Astex calhouon, same thing.
<v Speaker 2>Exactly a lot. Uh. I like to go to the beach,
<v Speaker 2>jogging and swimming. I do a little weight training padress.
<v Speaker 2>It's like, you know, I do a little weight training.
<v Speaker 2>I do two to two or three or four kinds
<v Speaker 2>of exercises to keep in shape because there's so many
<v Speaker 2>new young guys here, and they're powerful and fast, they're
<v Speaker 2>big boys. I try to be ninety five percent. I
<v Speaker 2>try to be ninety five percent in shape. Mes me too, Pedro,
<v Speaker 2>I don't either. I don't want to go to the
<v Speaker 2>full hundred, all right, I can, I can? I can
<v Speaker 2>live without five percent. Well, try to be ninety five.
<v Speaker 2>I know we all try to be ninety five percent,
<v Speaker 2>but you know I don't usually get there.
<v Speaker 4>The last but the last five percent is unquestionably not
<v Speaker 4>in shape, exactly decidedly not in shape.
<v Speaker 2>It could be more not in shape, but I try
<v Speaker 2>to be ninety.
<v Speaker 4>Five percent and five percent over here definitely not in shape.
<v Speaker 4>It could be ten to fifteen percent depending on but
<v Speaker 4>I always try only having on how fucking fresh the
<v Speaker 4>plantains are. Yeah, five percent is right around my right
<v Speaker 4>flank here. That's the five percent that is not in
<v Speaker 4>shape right now.
<v Speaker 2>The five percent is not shape or when my thighs touch.
<v Speaker 2>Oh man, it's hard to be because you travel so
<v Speaker 2>much and sometimes you don't have any time, but we
<v Speaker 2>always find some what. Okay, so you don't have any time,
<v Speaker 2>you're always find it. You're traveling so much and sometimes
<v Speaker 2>you don't have any time, but we always find sometime
<v Speaker 2>somehow great stuff Peedro. We always go in the gym
<v Speaker 2>and work out how did this guy sell? How the
<v Speaker 2>garden again? Put a fucking percentage together? Obviously not in
<v Speaker 2>his promos.
<v Speaker 4>Jesus Christ, I'm gonna speak to the Spanish people now, okay, Gorilla,
<v Speaker 4>that's how he sold this ticket.
<v Speaker 2>I was like Jesus Christ, I didn't we didn't have
<v Speaker 2>any time, but we always cut to the gym even
<v Speaker 2>though we didn't have any time. We didn't have any time.
<v Speaker 4>But plenty of parsley and sage.
<v Speaker 2>Rosemar had some rosemary exactly. We had. We had everything.
<v Speaker 2>We didn't always have time, but we had everything else
<v Speaker 2>to make a chicken dinner.
<v Speaker 4>Definitely could find Pedro at the Denny's after the matches,
<v Speaker 4>eating and like eating in like a blazer.
<v Speaker 2>You know, listen, that's his five percent right there, which
<v Speaker 2>is a fucking post match Denny's meal.
<v Speaker 4>The top baby face would go to diners in a blazer, Yes.
<v Speaker 2>He would, of course he would, with his fucking you know,
<v Speaker 2>with the collar over the big fucking honk and rings
<v Speaker 2>and like a bracelet on you fucking like a like
<v Speaker 2>a like a like a little mothball of like a
<v Speaker 2>big mothball of fucking chest hair popping out browns. Fucking gross,
<v Speaker 2>I don't care which way you slice it. Fucking gross
<v Speaker 2>like that. You can also see like any on his shirt,
<v Speaker 2>like a couple of dots of the grease. Yeah, it's
<v Speaker 2>all about food, folks. That hasn't changed. That hasn't changed.
<v Speaker 2>Whether it's a dollup of splatter from hash Browns on
<v Speaker 2>Pedro's open collar, or whether it's six pounds of Wendy's
<v Speaker 2>being stuffed on a tube in the ICU. It's still
<v Speaker 2>all about food. In decade too. When you travel like
<v Speaker 2>we travel now, it's still a little hard. But I
<v Speaker 2>still do three or four times a week keep me
<v Speaker 2>riveted here. So it's still hard, but I still do it.
<v Speaker 2>Even though I'm saying it's hard, I do it pretty easily. Actually,
<v Speaker 2>Pedro prepares himself before imaged by doing some stretch exercises
<v Speaker 2>to warm up and improve his circulation. But he feels
<v Speaker 2>it's important to prepare his mind as well as his body.
<v Speaker 2>A lot of the younger men in the ww B
<v Speaker 2>are good wrestlers, but sometimes rookies don't think too much
<v Speaker 2>in the ring. Morales says, the new generation. I like
<v Speaker 2>that new generation. Write that down, Write that one down,
<v Speaker 2>write that one down. We're gonna use that down the
<v Speaker 2>line when when I'm sick of Hogan, new generation. If
<v Speaker 2>they pay more attention to the timing, if they pay
<v Speaker 2>more attention to the timing, I think they'd be better. Right, Mentally,
<v Speaker 2>you have to be fantastic. If you have a little
<v Speaker 2>problem at home with some friend or your wife or
<v Speaker 2>your girlfriend, you can't bring that in the ring because
<v Speaker 2>you have to mentally get mentally prepared. You have to
<v Speaker 2>mentally prepared between ninety and one hundred percent. This guy's
<v Speaker 2>all fucking metrics are fucking killing me. This guy's always
<v Speaker 2>just short. No, he's not always yeah, it's it's always
<v Speaker 2>between you know, it's never one hundred percent. He's not
<v Speaker 2>into that. He's not into that at all. If you
<v Speaker 2>have a little problem outside, I don't advise that you
<v Speaker 2>wrestle then and bring this problem into the ring. It's
<v Speaker 2>so uh, brother, you know, tell you I'm the problem
<v Speaker 2>with Linda due. I don't think I can bring it
<v Speaker 2>in brother, brother than ring. Dude. What I'm telling I'm
<v Speaker 2>you know, live you know, fuck you Terry, you know,
<v Speaker 2>I don't. You know, it's really hard in the head.
<v Speaker 2>I don't say that. I just told her book your
<v Speaker 2>travel But oh not that Linda? Brother? What what what
<v Speaker 2>Darry getting the goddamn ring talking about Linda Ronsta brother, Brother,
<v Speaker 2>I'm talking about who are you talking about? Get out there?
<v Speaker 2>Get out there.
<v Speaker 4>His back to the curtain is real American and he's like,
<v Speaker 4>who are you talking about? Like you thought, Bro, I
<v Speaker 4>can't get the funk out there.
<v Speaker 2>He doesn't know it's Linda. He's the one that said it.
<v Speaker 2>You're the one that knows what Linda is. Why do
<v Speaker 2>you can? Is you the.
<v Speaker 4>What a mess? He's screaming at him to get out there? Awesome, Vince,
<v Speaker 4>like with the vest On, but the blazers off.
<v Speaker 2>You know, I mean exactly exactly. I just God, get
<v Speaker 2>out carry, get out there, get out there, get up there,
<v Speaker 2>get out there. He's got a problem, went home and
<v Speaker 2>this is what he gets. You want a problem at
<v Speaker 2>home having a fucking work coat. Get out there, get
<v Speaker 2>out there, get there. That's a that's a teacher to
<v Speaker 2>get out there. The wrestling teams in the New Year's
<v Speaker 2>get out here? Did you so? I gotta call it out.
<v Speaker 4>I don't know who it was, and I put it
<v Speaker 4>on X trying to get an answer, and people just
<v Speaker 4>had fun with it instead, which is great. Someone brought
<v Speaker 4>on the New Year's Eve n XT show at their
<v Speaker 4>Performance Center Orlando brought a stop the boots sign. Oh
<v Speaker 4>my god, Seriously, it was definitely us because it was
<v Speaker 4>the same typeface, the same, but no one stepped up.
<v Speaker 4>Usually when someone does that, they let us know beforehand
<v Speaker 4>on social media. I know it's got to be one
<v Speaker 4>of those people inside a WW that can't acknowledge that
<v Speaker 4>they listen to the show or something. There's a lot
<v Speaker 4>of plants in those audiences.
<v Speaker 2>I suspect just you know, send just sending like an
<v Speaker 2>email friends and family, you know. But I mean, stop
<v Speaker 2>the boots, right, I mean, listen, that's that's way too
<v Speaker 2>good stuff, that's way too inside. That's not no one else.
<v Speaker 4>Well, it'd be one thing if it's said that, But
<v Speaker 4>when it said it in the typeface of our T shirt, I.
<v Speaker 2>Didn't even think. Then stop the boots, like I've never
<v Speaker 2>even heard that said before, came exactly problemly. And if
<v Speaker 2>you don't feel right physically either. I don't recommend anyone
<v Speaker 2>to go in there because you can get hurt. Pedro
<v Speaker 2>warns you can get hurt and bad, especially when you're
<v Speaker 2>resting a guy like Don Morocco or Greg Valentine. Those
<v Speaker 2>guys are program maybe. Uh, those guys are always thinking,
<v Speaker 2>and you have to be one step ahead of them.
<v Speaker 2>And that's why I say you have to be. You
<v Speaker 2>have to have a good mind. You cannot bring any
<v Speaker 2>problems into the ring because you have to think constantly
<v Speaker 2>in there. Former champion has garnered much wisdom through experience,
<v Speaker 2>hard work, and perseverance. As a result, he can offer
<v Speaker 2>suggestions to those aspiring to enter pro wrestling. Great, I
<v Speaker 2>yess quote.
<v Speaker 4>The one thing I want to give advice about to
<v Speaker 4>all these young guys is that nothing is impossible in
<v Speaker 4>this life.
<v Speaker 2>Nice, thank you words of wisdom. If you have the
<v Speaker 2>ambition to become a wrestler, I advise you to start
<v Speaker 2>in high school and then wrestle all the way through college.
<v Speaker 2>Then when you finish and get a degree, I advise
<v Speaker 2>you to turn pro. Before you turn pro, you should
<v Speaker 2>get a degree and have another career to fall back on.
<v Speaker 2>At twenty two. You can have a bachelor's degree or
<v Speaker 2>a master's, have a career to fall back on before
<v Speaker 2>you take a career falling back. Exactly, you're gonna have
<v Speaker 2>a career to fall back on before you learn how
<v Speaker 2>to flat back. Twenty two, you can have a master's
<v Speaker 2>degree or I mean a bachelor's or a master's. I
<v Speaker 2>don't think that's generally the case. Usually you get the
<v Speaker 2>masters after you graduate from your undergrad and you know
<v Speaker 2>that that usually happens at twenty two. But okay, and
<v Speaker 2>then you're still young enough to turn to professional wrestling,
<v Speaker 2>and if you like it, try it because wrestling is
<v Speaker 2>getting bigger and bigger, and then I think it's going
<v Speaker 2>to be still bigger in the future. That's great, Pedro.
<v Speaker 2>Can you show me?
<v Speaker 4>Can you show me all the top owners of the
<v Speaker 4>business that follow that exact path. I'm still waiting, Oh
<v Speaker 4>zero zero, Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Can you tell me which wrestlers that have won the
<v Speaker 2>world championship like yourself, ever earned their master's degree?
<v Speaker 4>Can you show me anybody that went through all the steps,
<v Speaker 4>the academic steps you're talking about, and then got into
<v Speaker 4>the business.
<v Speaker 2>Anybody, Pedro, what's your fallback? What's your degree? Exactly? I
<v Speaker 2>know we know your percentages, but what are your degrees? Okay, See, it.
<v Speaker 4>Looks to me like everyone who is on try to
<v Speaker 4>actually get a scholarship in pursue college dropped out to
<v Speaker 4>be a pro wrestler.
<v Speaker 2>That's what I'm seeing exactly. There is good reason for
<v Speaker 2>Morales to feel that the we is his home. He
<v Speaker 2>is the only man who has ever held all three
<v Speaker 2>of the prestigious championship titles. He captured the w Heavyweight
<v Speaker 2>Champion title heavyweight title in nineteen seventy one and the
<v Speaker 2>tag team title in nineteen eighty. Then he set out
<v Speaker 2>to gain the Intercontinental title from Ken Petera, which he
<v Speaker 2>did on December eighth, nineteen eighty in Madison Square Garden. Later,
<v Speaker 2>when Don Morocco held the Intercontinental title, Pedro took it
<v Speaker 2>from him on November twenty third, nineteen eighty one, in
<v Speaker 2>Madison Square Garden. Each time Morales has set his sights
<v Speaker 2>on a particular championship, he has come away victorious, a
<v Speaker 2>gold belt around his waist as proof of his ring prowess.
<v Speaker 2>Much of his good fortune can be traced to his
<v Speaker 2>finishing It's not his finishing move, it's his finishing fourth day,
<v Speaker 2>I see with the Boston Craft. Well, I've been using
<v Speaker 2>that for a very long time and have been very
<v Speaker 2>successful with it, Morales says, of the submission hold, and
<v Speaker 2>I'll keep using it great. So opponents beware, especially magnificent
<v Speaker 2>Don Morocco and Greg the Hammer Valentine of the matt
<v Speaker 2>Mastery of Morales. Maybe Pedro will look to add another
<v Speaker 2>championship reign to his credit, though one can only speculate
<v Speaker 2>which belt he'll try to attain next. There's only one
<v Speaker 2>thing that is definite. Pedro Morales is back to attack.
<v Speaker 4>Awesome, awesome stuff and you may wonder, little curious, isn't
<v Speaker 4>it to be going so deeply into Pedro morales of
<v Speaker 4>all people in a Colisseum video entitled Villains of the
<v Speaker 4>Squared Circle. But as the Boss played for you there,
<v Speaker 4>if you watch this tape, it's going to be one
<v Speaker 4>of the key memories, one of the key things.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, it really is. It's so great. And I mean
<v Speaker 2>he's actually featured a couple of times, you know. The
<v Speaker 2>second time it's uh, not much, it's like a weird
<v Speaker 2>it's a weird clip from I think Philadelphia against the Morocco.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, yeah, but that was the empetus to bring him
<v Speaker 4>back was to feuded with Morocco and Valentine here in
<v Speaker 4>eighty six and reflecting back on this time period is
<v Speaker 4>George and the Animal Steel in his book, As he
<v Speaker 4>wrote in from WWWF champion Peter Moralis won the championship,
<v Speaker 4>his ascent was not necessarily good for us heels. He
<v Speaker 4>had that knack of whipping fans into a frenzy. You
<v Speaker 4>can say that again. We heard that.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>If he had been a preacher, he would have been
<v Speaker 4>an evangelist. If he'd been in television, he would have
<v Speaker 4>been selling sham wows and ginsu knives. Pedro could get
<v Speaker 4>the fans frothing, and that meant they always wanted to
<v Speaker 4>help him out. One person's help is another's felony. Apparently,
<v Speaker 4>black Jack mulligan can attest to that he was a
<v Speaker 4>tap from behind and sliced with a straight racer while
<v Speaker 4>in the middle of the ring in a match against
<v Speaker 4>Pedro at the Boston Garden. This is a famous episode. Wow,
<v Speaker 4>he bled like a bad guy on a Quentin Tarantino flick.
<v Speaker 4>The doctors needed an extra spool of thread to close
<v Speaker 4>the nasty gash. It took seventy eight stitches. So again
<v Speaker 4>the art of villainy here in villains of the Square
<v Speaker 4>Service who had been working security that night, Barty Rubble
<v Speaker 4>and Fred Flintstone, all the top heels were very leary
<v Speaker 4>of pro wrestling Paedro in Boston. So who are you
<v Speaker 4>gonna call? Not the Ghostbuster but George the animal steal.
<v Speaker 4>Mister McMahon was very concerned about it.
<v Speaker 2>He said that he said, not the Ghostbusters. He wrote
<v Speaker 2>that in a start book, but an idiot, good stuff idiot.
<v Speaker 4>Mister McMahon was very concerned about the heat getting out
<v Speaker 4>of control. He's talking about Ben Senior here and about
<v Speaker 4>my safety. He did not make the trip to Boston
<v Speaker 4>very often, but he came to the Garden for this
<v Speaker 4>show to make sure the security was ready. I'm not
<v Speaker 4>sure what more he could have done. I always went
<v Speaker 4>to and from the ring like somebody who was waiting
<v Speaker 4>to be fitted for a strait jacket. I was wild
<v Speaker 4>and crazy, and it was done for a purpose. It
<v Speaker 4>intimidated the fans and gave me what I called the
<v Speaker 4>fear factor. Most times, rather than running at me, the
<v Speaker 4>fans would run the other way. That is exactly what
<v Speaker 4>I intended, but mister McMahon warned me to not do
<v Speaker 4>it this time to be safe. He told me to
<v Speaker 4>walk to the ring like a sane individual. Even though
<v Speaker 4>I loved and respected mister McMahon, I got mighty ticked
<v Speaker 4>off at him. During my enforced stroll back to the
<v Speaker 4>locker room after my match with Petro, I got hit
<v Speaker 4>with everything from cups of beer, a high heels umbrellas
<v Speaker 4>to a walking cane or two. I had somehow managed
<v Speaker 4>to arrange to enrage rather even the elderly and the
<v Speaker 4>handicapped in the Hispanic community. When I got close to
<v Speaker 4>the locker room. I glanced at a mirror and I
<v Speaker 4>was covered in blood. Either that or a can of
<v Speaker 4>Campbell's tomato soup had exploded on my head.
<v Speaker 2>And there was Jesus, how did he know? It was Campbell's?
<v Speaker 4>And there was very specific, he writes, And there was
<v Speaker 4>no hint of oyster crackers anywhere in the neighborhood. Okay,
<v Speaker 4>it's not about he was looking for him, though, wasn't he?
<v Speaker 2>What the fun?
<v Speaker 4>I told mister McMahon that night. While he might be
<v Speaker 4>a great promoter, I would get to and from the
<v Speaker 4>ring in my own way. The fear factor helped me survive.
<v Speaker 4>His job was to book the shows, and my job
<v Speaker 4>was to wrestle and survived Them's.
<v Speaker 1>The La Fan Wrestling podcast. The wrestling podcast that knows
<v Speaker 1>the boys need their candy. It's the Lapsed Fan. He's
<v Speaker 1>an Lapsed Fan wrestling podcast with Jack and and Jpisaro.
<v Speaker 4>We also see Ernie lad Versandre the Giant on the
<v Speaker 4>tape from nineteen seventy six to highlight Ernie Ladd's use
<v Speaker 4>of a fake broken thumb, which allowed him to tape
<v Speaker 4>the thumb and hide a supposed foreign object. We hear
<v Speaker 4>Vince Junior in commentary, make hay about that. We see
<v Speaker 4>Louel Banno versus Grilla Monson from seventy three in the
<v Speaker 4>Garden and man, talk about froth. Did the fans want
<v Speaker 4>to see Gorilla and kill lou Ly? Shit, my god,
<v Speaker 4>and this is lou at the heighs. I thought I
<v Speaker 4>wanted to fucking kill Louel. Man, Man, Oh my god,
<v Speaker 4>this is and this is lou at the height of
<v Speaker 4>his power seventy three. He's just about to begin managing
<v Speaker 4>the Valiants, which is his signature team, and he's he's
<v Speaker 4>really the guy that puts all the heat on the
<v Speaker 4>top heels in MSG and you go back to our
<v Speaker 4>Colisseum collection coverage of the tape looking exclusively at him.
<v Speaker 4>By the time this time rolls around, he's turned babyface
<v Speaker 4>as a manager and his managing the British Bulldogs and
<v Speaker 4>kind of wrapping up really run as a manager because eventually,
<v Speaker 4>as we talked about on that episode, has a butting
<v Speaker 4>of heads with Vince Junior, as so many did who
<v Speaker 4>made their bones under Vince Senior. You know, there was Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>they just weren't going to feel respected enough and they
<v Speaker 4>weren't really going to really respect Junior enough to.
<v Speaker 2>Really allow him to be their boss, you know.
<v Speaker 4>So it was just a question exactly, and he found
<v Speaker 4>a way to filter those guys out real quick and
<v Speaker 4>made them come back under his terms, just like Pedros.
<v Speaker 2>You don't respect me, Guess what you're gonna learn. You're
<v Speaker 2>gonna come crawling back. You're gonna learn to kiss my ass.
<v Speaker 4>Right, you're trying to hold me up under the auspices
<v Speaker 4>of you know, the kids, fucking everything up. He can't
<v Speaker 4>keep any of the key draws around. And I'm gonna
<v Speaker 4>let y'all go, and you're all gonna come back. I'm
<v Speaker 4>when to come back. You're gonna come back under my terms. Yes,
<v Speaker 4>that's quite different than the ones you were accustomed to.
<v Speaker 4>They go back to seventy three for a stan Stasiak
<v Speaker 4>and the aforementioned Blackjack Lanza versus Andre the Giant and
<v Speaker 4>Jay Strongbow tag match so that we can see some
<v Speaker 4>of a former WWWF champions stan Stasiac's heel tactics like
<v Speaker 4>scratching the back being employed.
<v Speaker 2>Oh my god, they do the match.
<v Speaker 4>You refer to a quick clip of Don morocco vers
<v Speaker 4>Page Morales and Don morocco versus d Jones. They show
<v Speaker 4>a clip from the Tuesday Night Titan show, which was
<v Speaker 4>pretty new and hot at the time, with Don Morocco.
<v Speaker 4>To come quite soon, is going to be a full
<v Speaker 4>Colisseum video release just about the highlights of Tuesday Night Titans,
<v Speaker 4>which they really loved as a show, on which Dick
<v Speaker 4>Ebersol has cited is one of the key things that
<v Speaker 4>got him interested in helping WWF catapult to a higher
<v Speaker 4>exposure level, because you just love the way the characters
<v Speaker 4>were laid out on that show.
<v Speaker 2>If you want you to do that, we can just
<v Speaker 2>do that, right, We don't have to do any of
<v Speaker 2>the wrestling. We'll just do the If you don't, we'll
<v Speaker 2>just have a series of talk shows. If you answer
<v Speaker 2>me better, then what do you think.
<v Speaker 4>Vince always fancied himself like a Johnny Carson anyway?
<v Speaker 2>I know he really did, really did.
<v Speaker 4>Behind that desk man, you really can see who he
<v Speaker 4>really wants to be. I think They also show a
<v Speaker 4>mister Fuji versus Ricky steamboat match from nineteen eighty five,
<v Speaker 4>and then they go into all the Pipers stuff because Piper,
<v Speaker 4>you know, was the height of villain, so he's got
<v Speaker 4>to be on this tape, they showed the Jimmy Stika
<v Speaker 4>Piper's Pit, which they first shown in Best at WWF
<v Speaker 4>Volume one, the third Colisseum video release they show. They
<v Speaker 4>show it as well on Rowdy Roddy Piper's Greatest Hits Naturally,
<v Speaker 4>which was the ninth Colisseum video release, And we've talked
<v Speaker 4>about it before, but just quickly to revisit to Jimmy
<v Speaker 4>Snicka talks about the whole thing in his book with
<v Speaker 4>Piper that this epitomizes the footage and clips on this tape. Roddy,
<v Speaker 4>Piper and I had a great storyline. We spent hours
<v Speaker 4>planning our famous edition of Piper's Spit, you know, the
<v Speaker 4>one where he brought in all the bananas, pineapples, and
<v Speaker 4>coconuts to make me feel like I was back on
<v Speaker 4>the island. When we were rehearsing that, I told Piper
<v Speaker 4>to hit me with the coconut. He looked at me
<v Speaker 4>like I was crazy, but I knew it heat the
<v Speaker 4>crowd up. He asked me if I was sure, and
<v Speaker 4>I was like, Bretta, you better hit me with that.
<v Speaker 4>Roddy did just that and things went nuts from there.
<v Speaker 4>I loved it. The two of us were like oil
<v Speaker 4>and water on TV. I remember Piper had so much
<v Speaker 4>heat on him. It was like nothing we'd ever seen
<v Speaker 4>before Piper Spit was just completely unbelievable. I feuded with
<v Speaker 4>Piper for a while, but I feel we never got
<v Speaker 4>to finish the story because I ended up leaving the WWF. Well,
<v Speaker 4>I should talk to Cody, I know, no ship, he's
<v Speaker 4>the authority on that. So so what do you think, boss?
<v Speaker 4>If Jimmy Snooker says they spent hours and hours planning
<v Speaker 4>that famous Piper's pinangle, do you think Piper's version of
<v Speaker 4>events jibes with that?
<v Speaker 2>No, I think you'd be correct. I think I think
<v Speaker 2>it's safe to say that Piper probably would say it
<v Speaker 2>completely differently.
<v Speaker 4>So here we go to the Piper's Uh, Piper's book,
<v Speaker 4>Do we have it here?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah?
<v Speaker 4>He talks about of course changing the questions and that
<v Speaker 4>big right big, you know when he has the Frankie
<v Speaker 4>Williams one. But no, he says in the book that
<v Speaker 4>he that his daughter sort of did like channeling his
<v Speaker 4>life story, that uh, it was it was just kind
<v Speaker 4>of like on the spot that he decided over that
<v Speaker 4>of the coconut, and that there was not not a
<v Speaker 4>great deal of.
<v Speaker 2>Not even a fucking exactly that's the truth.
<v Speaker 4>I think so, I mean, even though Piper's books are
<v Speaker 4>just as much full of thick as any books any
<v Speaker 4>pro wrestler has ever put out, especially.
<v Speaker 2>The first one.
<v Speaker 4>Now I'm not so sure about the second one that
<v Speaker 4>his daughter Ariel Tombs shares a kind of a co
<v Speaker 4>author alyne On. But that first one, in the pit
<v Speaker 4>with Piper or whatever it was called all kinds of
<v Speaker 4>like very easy too. Let's say, not verify representations made
<v Speaker 4>in there. But given the choice between, we spent hours
<v Speaker 4>architecting one of the great angles in wrestling history, and
<v Speaker 4>it was just basically something I called on the fly,
<v Speaker 4>I'm gonna pick something I just called on the fly
<v Speaker 4>as the more like that, I would agree. Truthful accounts.
<v Speaker 4>So we get that, we get that famous moment here
<v Speaker 4>once again, where yes it is true that Piper brought
<v Speaker 4>all the goodies out. Snooker remembers when Hulkogan came in.
<v Speaker 4>Jimmy and Don Morocco had been carrying the entire New
<v Speaker 4>York territory when they put Jimmy in a cage, Magicainst Morocco,
<v Speaker 4>Holy Cow was amazing. This is this is Piper here? Sorry, yeah,
<v Speaker 4>this is Piper. Holy cow. It was amazing. Jimmy climbed
<v Speaker 4>up where no one dared to go. What a moment
<v Speaker 4>it was When he looked at Morocco and brought those
<v Speaker 4>hands up. The flash bulbs went off. Morocco was lying
<v Speaker 4>on his back, and Jimmy didn't just dive off. He
<v Speaker 4>did a half squat and swan dove out there. We
<v Speaker 4>saw that in prior coliseum videos. He gave Morocco the
<v Speaker 4>Charlie Horse of a lifetime. Morocco won the match, but
<v Speaker 4>that was done on purpose. There was no underhandedness in
<v Speaker 4>Morocco's part at all. That was done to make room
<v Speaker 4>for someone new. I was the one Jimmy feuded with.
<v Speaker 4>Next as a heel, working with someone like Jimmy as
<v Speaker 4>a dream. The Piper's pit we made almost instantly brought
<v Speaker 4>wrestling into a new age. Everybody was just like what
<v Speaker 4>just happened? After it aired, it was like a bomb
<v Speaker 4>went off. It was hard to get around. I thought
<v Speaker 4>people were going to stab me after I hit him
<v Speaker 4>with the coconut. I've been stabbed before. I loved Jimmy,
<v Speaker 4>but the reason I love Jimmy know what that means.
<v Speaker 4>I love Jimmy. Be about to debunk what he says.
<v Speaker 4>I love Jimmy. But the reason I brought in the coconuts,
<v Speaker 4>bananas and pineapples was he only could say like three words.
<v Speaker 2>Oh right, I remember, Yes.
<v Speaker 4>This was the second time I had him on the
<v Speaker 4>pit and he wouldn't talk. The first time he didn't talk,
<v Speaker 4>and the second time we just stared at each other.
<v Speaker 4>I was like, oh man, I've got two minutes and
<v Speaker 4>fifty four seconds. This guy's not going to say anything.
<v Speaker 4>What am I going to do? So I just asked
<v Speaker 4>him to get me something from Fiji, and two hours
<v Speaker 4>later and we filmed it again. I was trying to
<v Speaker 4>figure out what to do. I don't know how many
<v Speaker 4>guys would have stood for that. I don't think I'd
<v Speaker 4>ever had a coconut in my hand before that day.
<v Speaker 4>It just came up when a coconut dropped out of
<v Speaker 4>a paper bag. There were six or seven coconuts in there,
<v Speaker 4>and I'm trying to fit fill the three minutes we had,
<v Speaker 4>but I had nothing to say. It sounds like a
<v Speaker 4>master plan, doesn't it, boss?
<v Speaker 2>Oh?
<v Speaker 4>Absolutely, something was carefully planned out for hours. But I
<v Speaker 4>had nothing to say. I was looking at Jimmy's have
<v Speaker 4>to say, are you sure about this? He told me
<v Speaker 4>to hit him with it. He didn't run over in
<v Speaker 4>a slow motion and say, yeah, let's do that. It
<v Speaker 4>was an idea, and in my mind he'd given me permission.
<v Speaker 4>I wouldn't have done it otherwise, and he cracked him.
<v Speaker 4>We also got footage from Roddy Piper on the TNT
<v Speaker 4>Show in studio, acting as only Piper can act again
<v Speaker 4>the Frankie Williams one rebats the shit out of the
<v Speaker 4>job and says the famous line, just when you think
<v Speaker 4>you have the answers, I changed the questions. They show
<v Speaker 4>him in Louelbano on the TNT set when both were heels,
<v Speaker 4>Oh no, they're each other's throats. Not when both were heels,
<v Speaker 4>there were each other's throats. This is when a bando
<v Speaker 4>would turned face and Piper in the freighting grill right,
<v Speaker 4>basically beats him up.
<v Speaker 2>On the TNT set.
<v Speaker 4>They have the aforementioned mister t Piper face off on
<v Speaker 4>that movie set that's featured on Rowdy Piper's Greatest Hits,
<v Speaker 4>the ninth Colisseum release. They get some more Piper highlights.
<v Speaker 4>They show the format.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, they seriously like they just took about like
<v Speaker 2>twenty minutes from Piper's videotape.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, the tape has a direction in the beginning, you
<v Speaker 4>get the motif of Studd and Bundy and Heen and
<v Speaker 4>weigh in, and then all of a sudden, it just
<v Speaker 4>gets real lazy and they just start pulling in. It's
<v Speaker 4>got something we gotta have Piper on here. Let's not
<v Speaker 4>give it too much thoughts.
<v Speaker 2>It's real lazy, it is.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, they're already kind of they're already losing I think
<v Speaker 4>the creative spark behind these tapes, and it's just becoming
<v Speaker 4>like a factory process here.
<v Speaker 2>It's kind of It is kind of funny how they
<v Speaker 2>would regain that later on. Yeah, if it actually likes
<v Speaker 2>real creativity.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I'm sure once it stop stopped having credits at
<v Speaker 4>the end, you know. Yeah, right, you can't trace the
<v Speaker 4>the people as getting more and more bored from tape
<v Speaker 4>to tape. So Savage Versusito Santana is next? Where Savage
<v Speaker 4>when's the see title for the first time the Terry
<v Speaker 4>Funk Eldo Marino match, which we talked about during the
<v Speaker 4>Lapsed Funk at length. This was Terry Funk's WWF debut
<v Speaker 4>where he beats the shit out of Mel Phillips. Yes
<v Speaker 4>he does, is mel Phillips. I love that every time
<v Speaker 4>collecting his ring gear. I could watch that clip any
<v Speaker 4>day of the week, and twice on subsolutely a lot more,
<v Speaker 4>a lot more oomph behind it. Now, after all we've
<v Speaker 4>gotten to know about Mel Phillips. Huh exactly, But yeah,
<v Speaker 4>he makes the faux pas of putting Terry Funk's cowboy
<v Speaker 4>hat on his head while he's collecting his Terry Funk's
<v Speaker 4>ring gear, and Terry Funk just beats the shit out
<v Speaker 4>of him. That's from eighty five, right around the time
<v Speaker 4>Funk was coming in to work Saturday Night's main event
<v Speaker 4>with Haulkgan and that landmark night for the Funker. They
<v Speaker 4>also have Iron Cheek versus Corporal Kirshner. Now, I do
<v Speaker 4>want to apologize if we've done this one before. I
<v Speaker 4>don't think we have. But there's just this article they
<v Speaker 4>did about Corporal Kirchner in the WWF magazine back then
<v Speaker 4>that I just this fucking guy. I want to take
<v Speaker 4>any excuse I can to revisit it because it's just
<v Speaker 4>so kitchy and stupid. This guy used to be an
<v Speaker 4>actual Army Airborne whatever ranger guy. And it's it's like
<v Speaker 4>Hogan's done with Chic. Yeah, the Slaughter's done with Chic,
<v Speaker 4>but they're not done yet with Sheic having to face
<v Speaker 4>Rambo all the time, you know, having to face a
<v Speaker 4>prototypical eighties American military hero.
<v Speaker 2>Like this fucking corporal kursioner. Like he looks like he
<v Speaker 2>spent his best days crashing bachelor parties at the Wakefield
<v Speaker 2>Social Club. He does.
<v Speaker 4>He does look like the guy that was like the
<v Speaker 4>last person you invited to the bachelor party and who
<v Speaker 4>focks it all up and exact because he was right
<v Speaker 4>in that line of like should we invite.
<v Speaker 2>Him right, and it's like, you know, you actually forgot
<v Speaker 2>that he was invited right exactly.
<v Speaker 4>You know that he shows up like with all like
<v Speaker 4>smelling like a pine tree, way too much cologne on.
<v Speaker 2>And he fucking you know, he's like he's the one
<v Speaker 2>who's slapping the asses of the strippers and stuff like that.
<v Speaker 2>He's like, you know, he's causing everybody like he's the
<v Speaker 2>one who racks up the fucking bill, you know. And
<v Speaker 2>it's just like because he's fucking you know, just taking
<v Speaker 2>you know, taking advantage of these of these poor women.
<v Speaker 4>Faded jeans and black loafers. Oh and here.
<v Speaker 2>It's fucking it's fucking like ten o'clock at night. He's
<v Speaker 2>wearing sunglasses.
<v Speaker 4>Oh yeah, well, so we're getting sucked up boys or what?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah? Well I'm ready to get fucked up three times?
<v Speaker 4>Oh I can't wait, man, huh so late. So, of
<v Speaker 4>course he has a flag match against Nikolai Volkov at
<v Speaker 4>WrestleMania two. But asides from that, Corporal Kirchner's highest profile
<v Speaker 4>WWF run or match was probably this April twenty second,
<v Speaker 4>nineteen eighty six match against the Iron Cheek and Madison
<v Speaker 4>Square Garden that features in briefly on villains of the
<v Speaker 4>Square Circle because they're trying to highlight Iron Cheeks unique
<v Speaker 4>villain tactics like kicking with the spiked boot and things
<v Speaker 4>like that.
<v Speaker 2>So he looks like he's fucking straight out a platoon,
<v Speaker 2>clearly fucking then saw the movie and we go from there. Well,
<v Speaker 2>you know, well I heard about it. I didn't see it.
<v Speaker 2>I heard a platoon. I heard it's a military thing.
<v Speaker 4>Do you remember what we got to the FMW iwa
<v Speaker 4>deathmatch stage of the Lapsed Funk, there was a character
<v Speaker 4>named Leatherface who had like a mankind mask on and
<v Speaker 4>a chainsaw vaguely run around with a chainsaw BER's head,
<v Speaker 4>just like Chainsaw.
<v Speaker 2>Charlie's fucking idiot clab.
<v Speaker 4>That's what he went on to do after Corporate Curchinary
<v Speaker 4>became leather Face and Japanese death match promotions in the
<v Speaker 4>mid nineties, Jesus Christ inspiring the chainsaw Charlie look and
<v Speaker 4>so here from the pages of I Believe the same
<v Speaker 4>addition of the w w F magazine. It makes sense
<v Speaker 4>considering we're focusing on the.
<v Speaker 2>Same time period. What makes sense a little bit of.
<v Speaker 4>An orientation to who will see even fleetingly, it's kind
<v Speaker 4>of interesting on Villains of the square circle. We get
<v Speaker 4>the most out of looking at the babyface side of
<v Speaker 4>the equation.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, that's the thing, like you really do. It's
<v Speaker 2>really fun. It's toy to me. Even though they were
<v Speaker 2>running low on on creativity, this seemed like a weird
<v Speaker 2>way to go because, like, because like you said, it's
<v Speaker 2>a it's a baby face territory.
<v Speaker 4>I come away so excited about grillham On soon as
<v Speaker 4>a face Pedro is a face. I guess corporal crusher.
<v Speaker 4>If I was a kid, i'd be excited about.
<v Speaker 2>Right, you know. I mean again, I never understood andre
<v Speaker 2>yep and I just never understood these videos that feature
<v Speaker 2>little to no Hulk Hogan.
<v Speaker 4>Oh my god, it's ridiculous. I mean, the only thing
<v Speaker 4>you see is when Bundy splashes him in the corner once.
<v Speaker 2>Right.
<v Speaker 4>It's like they had a policy of showing his little
<v Speaker 4>Hogan unless it was a Hogan focused tape.
<v Speaker 2>Right, It's so bizarre, like you'd think you'd want. You'd
<v Speaker 2>think with Hogan being your biggest star, you'd have him featured.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, I guess, I guess maybe you're like hoping
<v Speaker 2>that fans don't even care, like and you're just exposing
<v Speaker 2>them to other stuff. But it's it's such a weird
<v Speaker 2>like it's like it's like match vomit is what they do.
<v Speaker 2>They just kind of like puke up whatever they got
<v Speaker 2>and like throw it on slap it on a tape.
<v Speaker 2>During these early years.
<v Speaker 4>One thing we can't forget about these early years too,
<v Speaker 4>is as we talked about go back to the Rigs
<v Speaker 4>steamboat one that we did, he sued them or this,
<v Speaker 4>and it came out that, you know, the way the
<v Speaker 4>royalties were split on videotape sales had very much to
<v Speaker 4>do with how prominently you featured on the tape. That
<v Speaker 4>had a lot to do to the percentage generally right
<v Speaker 4>exact right calculations we uncovered in the court records back then.
<v Speaker 4>But I do wonder, considering how much hef hulk Cogan
<v Speaker 4>had if it just if it was economically sensible to
<v Speaker 4>limit the amount of tapes that he could claim royalties
<v Speaker 4>on by featuring him as little as possible, unless it
<v Speaker 4>was an exclusive tape, because there was a difference in
<v Speaker 4>terms of you know, I think it would be it
<v Speaker 4>would be easier to argue that if hult Cogan was
<v Speaker 4>on a coliseum video, even in just one match that
<v Speaker 4>he sold the tape, that people bought the tape because
<v Speaker 4>he was on it, but he didn't put him on
<v Speaker 4>it at all, and didn't promote him on the jacket
<v Speaker 4>or anything like that. That's one tape that you don't
<v Speaker 4>have to worry about sharing.
<v Speaker 2>It's true with hul Cogan. With that's true.
<v Speaker 4>Thought, because it is at this point, it's it's downright
<v Speaker 4>bizarre how how much they seemed to be going out
<v Speaker 4>of their way to not put Hogan on these tapes
<v Speaker 4>because he's gonna sell everything back.
<v Speaker 2>Then, right exactly. I mean he's like, he's he's your
<v Speaker 2>Why aren't you, like, you know, milking that shit for days?
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, in the royalty terms were really clear when it
<v Speaker 4>was a tribute tape, you know, like that's why Ricky
<v Speaker 4>Steamboat sued because he had a tribute tape. So there
<v Speaker 4>was no question that he was owed the you know,
<v Speaker 4>the majority of the royalties on that tape because it
<v Speaker 4>was just about him. You couldn't claim that people bought
<v Speaker 4>it really for any other reason. But on these other
<v Speaker 4>compilation tapes it gets a little more dicey in terms
<v Speaker 4>of who can claim what.
<v Speaker 2>I would imagine. So it's kind of crazy. But here
<v Speaker 2>we have airborne assault. The corporal takes the high ground.
<v Speaker 2>The look of the man is that of a hard
<v Speaker 2>bitten jungle fighter who has seen it all as far
<v Speaker 2>as combat is concerned. His blue eyes are steely, his
<v Speaker 2>square jawn face set with grim determination, and his walk
<v Speaker 2>like that of a cat. It's no put on Corporal Kershner,
<v Speaker 2>who has mowed down all competitions since joining the world
<v Speaker 2>Lossing entertainment ranks a few months ago. Go is a
<v Speaker 2>seasoned military veteran who makes every match in which he
<v Speaker 2>engages a real war. Kirshner is a former non commissioned
<v Speaker 2>officer WHOA that's a key qualified? What the fuck? In
<v Speaker 2>other words, don't research this, please? Right?
<v Speaker 4>Non commissioned I don't know much about the military.
<v Speaker 2>What does that mean? Non find out? Non commissioned? What officer?
<v Speaker 2>Non commissioned officer? Okay, that's a weird thing in the
<v Speaker 2>United States army crack who what unites cracky crack?
<v Speaker 4>Is non commissioned sound like someone who just shows up
<v Speaker 4>even though no one asked him to show up.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, that's the thing. It sounds like someone who
<v Speaker 2>like gives himself a ranking, as opposed to somebody who
<v Speaker 2>actually earns the ranking.
<v Speaker 4>I guess non commissioned officers hold ranks like sergeant, staff, sergeant,
<v Speaker 4>a corporal. Okay, response, but for supervising and training junior
<v Speaker 4>listed personnel, they haven't, it, says a military officer who
<v Speaker 4>has not earned a commission.
<v Speaker 2>I don't. I guess I don't know what earned a
<v Speaker 2>commission means. Yeah, I guess that's right.
<v Speaker 4>We'll get there and I'll do apologies to those who
<v Speaker 4>have served. Okay, in the military, earning a commission refers
<v Speaker 4>to becoming a commissioned officer, which is achieved through formal training, education,
<v Speaker 4>and receiving official authority from a head of state, government
<v Speaker 4>or authorized military body. Commissioned officers are leaders who hold
<v Speaker 4>higher authority and are responsible for planning, strategic decision making
<v Speaker 4>and leading larger units.
<v Speaker 2>So, yeah, I wone want this guy strategizing anything.
<v Speaker 4>So to get one of those commissions, you have to
<v Speaker 4>graduate from a military academy like West Point or an
<v Speaker 4>officer train. Yeah, it's just a higher level of it's
<v Speaker 4>like a degree almost. Okay, all right, why they had
<v Speaker 4>to put that in there?
<v Speaker 2>But okay, I know, right, Like, I mean, I imagine
<v Speaker 2>that a lot of kids reading this magazine sound like
<v Speaker 2>it just sounds like it's like negates mean's experienced, right,
<v Speaker 2>it sounds like he just like wasn't actually in the army.
<v Speaker 4>I guess maybe, you know, maybe in the army culture,
<v Speaker 4>they would really hold it against him if he didn't
<v Speaker 4>specify that.
<v Speaker 2>Maybe that's like it. Why just wouldn't you say, you know,
<v Speaker 2>Kirshner's served in the United States Armies crack eighty two
<v Speaker 2>second Airborne Division. Why do you have to say all
<v Speaker 2>that other shit? Crack it? So did chic Interestingly, all right,
<v Speaker 2>uh crack eighty second Airborne Division station at Fort Bragg,
<v Speaker 2>North Carolina, still the wrestler's home base. Although he obviously
<v Speaker 2>takes great pride in his army background, Kursher does not
<v Speaker 2>go into explicit detail about his accomplishments and missions in uniforms.
<v Speaker 2>Do they make it sound like a fake thing? Again? Right?
<v Speaker 2>Exactly like he's not. He doesn't really serve, and you know,
<v Speaker 2>you just don't talk about those kind of things, he says. Obviously, however,
<v Speaker 2>I had no idea what he sounds like. By the way, obviously, however,
<v Speaker 2>he has been around and fought his way out of
<v Speaker 2>some tough situations. The new WWE sensation is a man
<v Speaker 2>who can live in an in jungle, mountain or desert
<v Speaker 2>conditions that would spell the end for most people. Kirshner
<v Speaker 2>doesn't brag about it, but he did go to Fort
<v Speaker 2>Brag but he but he also is a hand to
<v Speaker 2>hand combat expert who is as deadly with his hands
<v Speaker 2>and feet as with weapons because he's got educated feet
<v Speaker 2>or actually I should say military trained feet commissioned feet
<v Speaker 2>non commission feet actually that non commission approved feet. Right.
<v Speaker 2>In his spare time, he continues to keep up the
<v Speaker 2>skills he learned as an airborne trooper. He stays in
<v Speaker 2>shape at a base hidden hidden in the Florida everglends
<v Speaker 2>sound like he's not really not really military guy. He's
<v Speaker 2>a fucking phony where he conducts his own personal jump
<v Speaker 2>school and behind the lines survival course.
<v Speaker 4>Jumpsol? Is that what Dennis Stamp went to? Did he
<v Speaker 4>have one of those in his backyard?
<v Speaker 2>He did that? You did have a fucking jump school
<v Speaker 2>The Dennis Stamp Trampoline Park. Yep, don't don't. Actually you
<v Speaker 2>know what it is. It's called the Dennis Stampoline Park.
<v Speaker 4>The Dennis Stamp Trampoline Park, which curisally enough, every time
<v Speaker 4>they set one up it's always fifteen hundred feet or
<v Speaker 4>further from the nearest school. It's the damnedest coincidence. It
<v Speaker 4>must be a market thing.
<v Speaker 2>And you know the problem, you know what the problem
<v Speaker 2>is with that, with that whole business. It's just, you
<v Speaker 2>know what, there's never any bookings. Yeah you can say
<v Speaker 2>that again. It's just why did they set this place
<v Speaker 2>up if no one ever books it. Well, you know,
<v Speaker 2>he gets relaxation by jumping into swamps, you know, living
<v Speaker 2>in the bush, eating snakes, practicing his marksmanship, says a
<v Speaker 2>close friend. Okay, yeah, no, no doubt about he's combat ready.
<v Speaker 2>That's good to know. Thank God for that, exactly. I
<v Speaker 2>all cleared up. I was, I was questioning his combat ready.
<v Speaker 2>What was your character's name in civil war? Again, that's
<v Speaker 2>what his opponents thus far have discovered. That he's combat ready.
<v Speaker 2>I guess swalloped his way through increasingly rough adversaries as
<v Speaker 2>he fights his way through the w w E his
<v Speaker 2>explosive assaults on his competition coetation. Here just gonna say
<v Speaker 2>that that word is like a huge Vince giveaway. It's
<v Speaker 2>an important word. You have caught the eye of promoters
<v Speaker 2>who have been upping the quality of his foes. Okay, okay,
<v Speaker 2>well we want to talk about the promoters. You know,
<v Speaker 2>I'm talking about it as if you know where because
<v Speaker 2>of his ability to use his combat readiness against his
<v Speaker 2>competitors that he the promoters are giving him, you know,
<v Speaker 2>the you know, more of a higher quality of of
<v Speaker 2>of of a competition aka he's adversary.
<v Speaker 4>AKA he's a ripped big guy that Hulk saw working
<v Speaker 4>out in the German Minneapolis, and exactly.
<v Speaker 2>Exactly otherwise, you know, she we can get so far,
<v Speaker 2>we can go with this guy.
<v Speaker 4>Say what you will about Corporal Kirchner, but I think
<v Speaker 4>he's the only wrestler to hold this distinction. He seems
<v Speaker 4>to be the only wrestler I've ever heard of whose
<v Speaker 4>mother was a writer and who, because her her son
<v Speaker 4>was in the wrestling business, wrote a creative non fiction
<v Speaker 4>novel about her son, but she renamed him Jim Kelly.
<v Speaker 4>And she tells this big, long, involved, fucking novel story
<v Speaker 4>about his adventures in the military in the wrestling world.
<v Speaker 4>And that's that's the closest thing you are you serious.
<v Speaker 4>It's the most bizarre thing you'll ever read. I don't
<v Speaker 4>know why who green lit it, but I guess she
<v Speaker 4>kind of parleyed the fact that her son was a
<v Speaker 4>name in the wrestling business to get a book deal.
<v Speaker 4>And it's because it's so deceptive, because creative nonfiction, right,
<v Speaker 4>it's like, yeah, that's what wrestling is. So this is
<v Speaker 4>clearly Corporal Kirchner's book, and you crack it open and
<v Speaker 4>it's just a totally falsified story written by his mom.
<v Speaker 2>So bizarre. I don't know if anybody who read them
<v Speaker 2>out years and years and years ago.
<v Speaker 4>Wow, it's leather face on the cover, and it's and
<v Speaker 4>in the back of the book. After you read this
<v Speaker 4>completely fictionalized or largely fictionalized story about this wrestler, it's
<v Speaker 4>got a fucking gallery of pictures of him throughout the
<v Speaker 4>years in wrestling. It's really interesting. Before I was actually
<v Speaker 4>from WWF to Stampede where he went, after WWF to
<v Speaker 4>FMW where he was Leatherface. He was even in Terry
<v Speaker 4>Funk's like stable of wrestlers in FMW as Leatherface, and
<v Speaker 4>they show a picture of that.
<v Speaker 2>So bizarre. That is very bizarre.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I don't know what that's about. But he never
<v Speaker 4>wrote a book and he passed away from cancer I
<v Speaker 4>think in twenty twenty one. But I thought he wrote
<v Speaker 4>a book, and when I got it wasn't his book
<v Speaker 4>at all.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, I want, I want, I still want more
<v Speaker 2>to that book.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I think we need to, uh, if she's still
<v Speaker 4>with us, maybe uh get a deal going where we can, Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>get this out to as many people as possible.
<v Speaker 2>That's important, My god. Uh, adver serious Confederate is up
<v Speaker 2>in the quality of observers, say Kirshner, is ready to
<v Speaker 2>meet top ring talent. I'll try to work my way
<v Speaker 2>into WW slowly. I didn't don't want to jump in.
<v Speaker 2>Didn't want to jump too soon, says Kirshner. They try,
<v Speaker 2>if they if they think I'm good enough to go
<v Speaker 2>up against the best great I'm airborne and I'm ready
<v Speaker 2>for action to maintain the proud, tough tradition of the paratroopers.
<v Speaker 2>Kirshner wears his jungle camouflage gear into the ring. I mean,
<v Speaker 2>it looks like he's been worrying for like four days
<v Speaker 2>as well, you know, clad is though ready for combat.
<v Speaker 2>I mean I think he probably goes into like I
<v Speaker 2>don't know, some of like the like the Jersey grassy areas,
<v Speaker 2>and just fucking kind of hangs out there for like
<v Speaker 2>a week before his matches.
<v Speaker 4>The closest he can get to combat conditions.
<v Speaker 2>Get his combat readiness to uh, you know, a high whatever.
<v Speaker 2>He looks so formidable that some of his adversaries have
<v Speaker 2>been psyched out even before the Bell claimed. Now I
<v Speaker 2>wear my gear because the airborne has been a key
<v Speaker 2>part of my life. Says Kirshner. I'm proud of my
<v Speaker 2>airborne connection. I love my country and I want everybody
<v Speaker 2>to know it. Kirshner's patriotism and spectacular ring success have
<v Speaker 2>earned him the admiration of an army of fans. When
<v Speaker 2>he snaps to and salutes them from the ring, they
<v Speaker 2>erupt in cheers and enthusiastically uh in cheers, an enthusiastic
<v Speaker 2>chance of USA USA. American fans are the greatest, Kirshner says.
<v Speaker 2>With them behind me, I feel I can't lose. So
<v Speaker 2>together we're the three V div Nice from Chicago, by
<v Speaker 2>the way, Just all right, grieve him better perfect. I
<v Speaker 2>asked to explain the significance of the three V Division,
<v Speaker 2>Kirshner says, the name stands for Vigilance, vengeance and victory
<v Speaker 2>ar motto. We're all red blooded Americans, not going down
<v Speaker 2>to defeat. I know that there are some people wrestling
<v Speaker 2>the WWE who think Americans are weak and have no guts.
<v Speaker 2>I'm tired of hearing them put us down, and I
<v Speaker 2>think the three V Division is going to do something
<v Speaker 2>about it. Who could Kursner mean? No wrestling buff needs
<v Speaker 2>to ask the Iron Chic if Iran and Russ's nick
<v Speaker 2>le Volkov, together with their notorious manager Classy Freddy blassy
<v Speaker 2>sneer at the USA and wrestlers who represented this country,
<v Speaker 2>they go out of their way to humiliate and mock
<v Speaker 2>American wrestlers in the ring and flaunt victories over them
<v Speaker 2>before the fans and the nation. As clever as they
<v Speaker 2>are arrogant, Blassi and crew cannot mistake the threat Kirshner
<v Speaker 2>poses to their sinister goals. Insiders say that they are
<v Speaker 2>taking Kurshner with deadly seriousness and plotting his downfall, even
<v Speaker 2>though they toss him off as not being a force
<v Speaker 2>with which they must reckons him off. That's it's like
<v Speaker 2>some sexual innuendo to me. I mean, I mean also
<v Speaker 2>I love I mean also to say, like instead of
<v Speaker 2>saying be saying a force to be reckoned with, they
<v Speaker 2>say he is a so vinctic man, a force with
<v Speaker 2>which they must reckon. The Grammarian in the house, I
<v Speaker 2>knowing Gianfrido strikes again. You know, I like to say, well,
<v Speaker 2>the noise, He's really not a force that which with
<v Speaker 2>which with which programmar you know, I mean they must reckon.
<v Speaker 2>I got a Harvard degree you know, you know we're
<v Speaker 2>talking about degrees of of of verbulation.
<v Speaker 4>Okay, that quote you know we're talking about degrees of
<v Speaker 4>verbulation only has the power to say verbulation. Everyone stands
<v Speaker 4>there like biting their lip, like.
<v Speaker 2>They're like, like, you know, having to fake that. It's
<v Speaker 2>fucking you know, obviously a real word. Cornered on the subject. Brother,
<v Speaker 2>what jesus, what is that necessary? What's going on? Cornering?
<v Speaker 2>Did I he is cornering? Kurtain? Cornering sounds like a
<v Speaker 2>new tactic? Now, brother, what do you I mean? Brother?
<v Speaker 2>Is that what happened? Questions? You have to corner me? Brother,
<v Speaker 2>I just want to understand, dude. I mean, I'll tell
<v Speaker 2>you what. I don't mind going to the corner right
<v Speaker 2>as my back to the corner right, Like what's this?
<v Speaker 2>You know?
<v Speaker 4>Am I you know, my facing the corner room or
<v Speaker 4>my back to the corner, Like what are we are
<v Speaker 4>we at with? That made DECISIONO?
<v Speaker 2>Curser? Dude? Cornered? You brother? Can you kind of explain
<v Speaker 2>to me like the approach they took, Dude, I was
<v Speaker 2>just want I just want to say, brother, you know,
<v Speaker 2>first of all, by the way they cornered, they were blasting,
<v Speaker 2>not even fucking. But so it was better with a
<v Speaker 2>curser brother. You know, I just want to talk about
<v Speaker 2>you know, first of all, dude, I've seen what you've
<v Speaker 2>been doing with the Sheik Brother. I'll tell you, I
<v Speaker 2>know Chic really well, I'm just going to say, you know,
<v Speaker 2>you're really ham what he can do, brother, on a
<v Speaker 2>real significant level. Like you're you're on that thing up, dude,
<v Speaker 2>you're talking I'm taking that thing to that you know,
<v Speaker 2>You're taking that thing that you have to that next
<v Speaker 2>level against Chic brother, and I'm digging that. You know,
<v Speaker 2>I'm thinking myself, you know, brother, what can we do
<v Speaker 2>with this curser guy? You know? But you know I
<v Speaker 2>was I was like, you know, I was really excited
<v Speaker 2>when I was reading the magazine, dude, and they're talking about,
<v Speaker 2>you know, kind of talking about your background and called
<v Speaker 2>military stuffs, and I was like, yeah, I really admire
<v Speaker 2>that because I consider myself to be because brother, you know,
<v Speaker 2>I howe me honest with you, I kind of consider
<v Speaker 2>myself to be an honorary member of the military. Well,
<v Speaker 2>now it's getting awkward, okay, you know, And so what
<v Speaker 2>I want to talk about, dude, I was curious about that.
<v Speaker 2>You know, I heard the same brother. You know, I've
<v Speaker 2>read this in the magazine that they that they cornered you,
<v Speaker 2>you know, the magazine. Court like, what was that about?
<v Speaker 4>Then goes, oh, no, no, they didn't corner me, Terry,
<v Speaker 4>that that part of the magazine is about blasting. And
<v Speaker 4>he goes, brother, like, why are you lying to me
<v Speaker 4>about that? That's kind of weird. Well, blast, Like, it
<v Speaker 4>wasn't about blasting. I know what I read to the
<v Speaker 4>arm about you, dude, what do you mean? They like
<v Speaker 4>the wi they but what do you it's behind me, like,
<v Speaker 4>you can't turn around the look because if he turns
<v Speaker 4>around and looks, then he'll be ambushed.
<v Speaker 2>You know, right, Well, then fucking he exposed himself to
<v Speaker 2>fucking It's kind of funny. You know, most animals that
<v Speaker 2>they fear exposing their belly, but fear is exposing as
<v Speaker 2>I think it's kind of weird that you would kind
<v Speaker 2>of trust throw off the trail. It's in cornered on
<v Speaker 2>the subject brother, and you're the subject of the article.
<v Speaker 2>But they mean on the subject of what You're not
<v Speaker 2>gonna listen to me? Are you help? Well, I'm listening
<v Speaker 2>to you. I just don't understand. I'm already got on
<v Speaker 2>the same page with you do and you kind of
<v Speaker 2>like a avoiding the you know, answering the question is
<v Speaker 2>there something that you want to tell me? Brother?
<v Speaker 4>When you say listening to like, I mean, you're around here, dude,
<v Speaker 4>you kind of got the all American get up. Dude,
<v Speaker 4>that's kind of a little close to the sun, don't
<v Speaker 4>you think.
<v Speaker 2>I just want to ask you, have you been have
<v Speaker 2>you been talking to you about Kirshner push, are you
<v Speaker 2>going over? Are you liking the new American hero?
<v Speaker 4>Brother?
<v Speaker 2>I mean, are you are you being I mean listening
<v Speaker 2>to not? I know, I'm a real American brother, what
<v Speaker 2>do you what do you right? I'm I'm a real American?
<v Speaker 2>What do you mean?
<v Speaker 4>That's one thing we've never considered in the annals of
<v Speaker 4>Lap's history is the panic attack that Corporal Kirchner set
<v Speaker 4>off in Hulkgan.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah as well.
<v Speaker 4>You know, brothers, these all American baby faces don't last
<v Speaker 4>long around here except for Numero.
<v Speaker 2>Oh no, dude, I just want I just want say, brother,
<v Speaker 2>I'm on say I'm on your side, and I'm I'm
<v Speaker 2>all about you know you achieving that success. Brother, But
<v Speaker 2>I just want to know where you're at.
<v Speaker 4>He can't come out and say it, so he has
<v Speaker 4>to like he's reaching for ways to make it sound anodyne,
<v Speaker 4>and it's not paranoid, But every time he finishes the sentence,
<v Speaker 4>it's like, what are you talking about?
<v Speaker 2>Anyway?
<v Speaker 4>Further to the article that sent him into a tail spin.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, corner. On the subject, Blassie's coughs at the muscular
<v Speaker 2>two hundred and sixty six pound paratrooper walk off against
<v Speaker 2>that pencil neck, What a joke, Blasi blusters that ten
<v Speaker 2>soldier would feel as if a tank rolled over him
<v Speaker 2>if he gutt vall COF's way. As Blassie sees that
<v Speaker 2>the Sheik would have no trouble with Cursioner either. Carder
<v Speaker 2>would look like this parachute didn't open, Blassi says, of
<v Speaker 2>any encounter between the corporal and the Iranian strong man.
<v Speaker 2>For all his bragging, Blassi has been pushing his foreign
<v Speaker 2>duo to train harder. There are rumors that he has
<v Speaker 2>even imported hand to hand combat instructors from places unknown
<v Speaker 2>another thing that makes you sell like a fake military
<v Speaker 2>to teach his wrestlers how to counter such tactics from
<v Speaker 2>all indications Blassie's gang is out for Kirshner's head. The
<v Speaker 2>corporal is tight lift about the situation. Volkov and Chik
<v Speaker 2>are awesome wrestlers. I've been watching them closely and I'm impressed.
<v Speaker 2>And Blasti is a tricky customer. You know, they don't
<v Speaker 2>make managers any more dangerous than he is, even if
<v Speaker 2>he likes wear pink suits. You know, maybe we'll go
<v Speaker 2>head to head. In fact, you chances are probably good,
<v Speaker 2>but I'm not gonna say anything about how it handle
<v Speaker 2>the Iron Cheek or Volkoff, and while at the while
<v Speaker 2>let the enemy know about your strategy. Even Kershner won't
<v Speaker 2>go into detail, yes we know that, uh, there have
<v Speaker 2>been there are Even even if Kershner won't go into detail,
<v Speaker 2>there are some obvious comparisons to be made between the
<v Speaker 2>paratrooper and Blassie's bruisers. Mashed up against the Sheikh, Kirshner
<v Speaker 2>would find himself against a man of great strength but
<v Speaker 2>about equal size. Actually, it looks like Kursher's quite taller
<v Speaker 2>than she as. It does like Sheik looks very small
<v Speaker 2>compared to Curser's really tall. Yeah, he had a by
<v Speaker 2>the way, yes he did. I have you know what,
<v Speaker 2>I remember that. I remember that, I remember seeing like
<v Speaker 2>a picture of that at something to deal with and
<v Speaker 2>just weird hold into your sense of reality. Yep, and
<v Speaker 2>muscle wise, the bull shouldered Kirshner gives away very little,
<v Speaker 2>if anything, to the iranium. Their quickness, too is similar. Volkov,
<v Speaker 2>on the other hand, is in the neighborhood of three
<v Speaker 2>hundred pounds and thus considerably bigger than the Kirshner. The Russian,
<v Speaker 2>like the Sheik, possesses immense strength, but when it comes
<v Speaker 2>to speed and agility, Kirshner has the advantage over the
<v Speaker 2>ponderous Russian. The corporal probably would have would have to
<v Speaker 2>use hit and run tactics to overcome Volkov. Overall, the
<v Speaker 2>matchups are pretty even, but especially when Blassi with Blassi
<v Speaker 2>in the wings, Kirshner must be wary of a knife
<v Speaker 2>in the back figuratively, if not literally. Blassie and his
<v Speaker 2>man are notorious for dirty tricks in and out of
<v Speaker 2>the ring. Kirshner will comment on that point. I've been
<v Speaker 2>up against people who wrote the books and dirty tricks,
<v Speaker 2>you know, kind of to put you out of everything
<v Speaker 2>for good. I've learned a few myself. You know dirtier
<v Speaker 2>gets rough will find me. I prefer to fight fair,
<v Speaker 2>But if they don't, I know how to land behind
<v Speaker 2>the lines and do some dirty work on my own
<v Speaker 2>good stuff.
<v Speaker 4>Corporal Kirchner, I wait to see what he's gonna do next.
<v Speaker 4>Somewhere out there, there was a kid who had a
<v Speaker 4>Corporal Kirchner LJN and love the ww F Rock and
<v Speaker 4>Wrestling era and thought he was going to be the
<v Speaker 4>fucking greatest.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, there was some person who was like, you know what,
<v Speaker 2>He's gonna be the fucking next hole code and Corporal
<v Speaker 2>Kirchner beat all the heel l jns. You you know
<v Speaker 2>the story.
<v Speaker 4>Yep, we'll get a fleeting glimpse of him on Villains
<v Speaker 4>of the Squared Circle. They also show Studd and Bundy
<v Speaker 4>attacking Hill Billy Jim in eighty five. Stunnin Bundy attacking
<v Speaker 4>Andre the Giant is also featured on The Amazing Manager's Tape.
<v Speaker 4>They show Morocco and King Kong Bundy go after hul
<v Speaker 4>Cogan on the February fifteenth, ninet eighty six edition of
<v Speaker 4>Saturday Night's Main Event to set up WrestleMania that year.
<v Speaker 4>They also show again John Studd and Ken Peterra cutting
<v Speaker 4>Andre the Giant's hair in the closing scene of the videotape.
<v Speaker 4>This is also featured, interestingly on Andre the Giant tribute tape,
<v Speaker 4>so it's like, right, this is the Spotlight's villainy, but
<v Speaker 4>it's also on Andrea's fucking career highlights.
<v Speaker 2>Tape well, because I think they show the aftermath that's
<v Speaker 2>like the you know.
<v Speaker 4>Right, yeah, it's the appetizer for him getting his come
<v Speaker 4>up and says we talked about or them getting their
<v Speaker 4>come up ins right from December fifteenth of nineteen eighty four,
<v Speaker 4>and came after a tag team match where Andrea and
<v Speaker 4>st Jones beat Studnin Paterra. And I think on the
<v Speaker 4>Andrea tape, if I remember correctly, they show the whole
<v Speaker 4>tag match, not just the right and I think it's
<v Speaker 4>exactly it's the whole segment, the hair cutting, the whole thing.
<v Speaker 4>And for Ken Peterra came in an interesting time. I
<v Speaker 4>don't think when we did this Colisseum video that his
<v Speaker 4>book with Kenny Casanova.
<v Speaker 2>Had come out yet.
<v Speaker 4>Ken Peterra's book definitely worth checking out. This guy had
<v Speaker 4>a very colorful and diverse career in a lot of
<v Speaker 4>different areas. Ken Peterra actually had a very underrated career,
<v Speaker 4>I think, But unfortunately for him, he came into the
<v Speaker 4>WWL from the back end of that Awa boulder through
<v Speaker 4>the McDonald's window incident that we know about from most
<v Speaker 4>recently the Tales from the Territory series. So you know,
<v Speaker 4>cops were beat up in the aftermath as they try
<v Speaker 4>to track down who threw the boulder through the McDonald's
<v Speaker 4>window because they wouldn't serve past a certain hour, and
<v Speaker 4>Ken Peterra Moscedo were in the hotel room in Wisconsin.
<v Speaker 4>They break down the door and some cops end up
<v Speaker 4>getting sucked up by a bunch of wrestlers, and they
<v Speaker 4>basically trace the boulder throwing back to Ken Peterra, who
<v Speaker 4>still denies it to this day. Hilariously, on Tails from
<v Speaker 4>the Territories on a table surrounded by old Awa veterans,
<v Speaker 4>they all kind of kind of like roll their eyes
<v Speaker 4>at the suggestion that Petera is still holding out that
<v Speaker 4>he wasn't the one to throw the boulder. He gets
<v Speaker 4>all pissed off that they're still questions his veracity. He
<v Speaker 4>spent some time in ga All on this thing. It
<v Speaker 4>was a tough deal for him.
<v Speaker 2>Wow, it was a really tough deal.
<v Speaker 4>And all of that trial stuff starts to happen after
<v Speaker 4>Vince hires under this huge money New York contract and
<v Speaker 4>his ABA pass catches up with him, So his involvement
<v Speaker 4>in this Andre storyline went nowhere for him, even though
<v Speaker 4>it was going to be big business for him. Potentially
<v Speaker 4>teaming with stud is part of the Headon family to
<v Speaker 4>go after Andre, because the legal mumbo jumbo hits right
<v Speaker 4>after this and he doesn't get to follow up. As
<v Speaker 4>he says in his book, the trial was supposed to
<v Speaker 4>be quick and fair. It took well over three months
<v Speaker 4>just to get an initial court date, and then the
<v Speaker 4>pre trial lasted for over a year. Thankfully, I was
<v Speaker 4>at least allowed to work shows in the meantime, albeit
<v Speaker 4>out of my own recognizance. They knew it would have
<v Speaker 4>been kind of difficult for me to hide, seeing how
<v Speaker 4>I was on TV working for the WWF back in
<v Speaker 4>New York. As Sid and I arrived at our awaited
<v Speaker 4>our fate, life went on. Bobby Heenan made his debut
<v Speaker 4>appearance in the WWF in September nineteen eighty four, managing
<v Speaker 4>his main man, Big John Studd and he gets to
<v Speaker 4>a little bit of trivia.
<v Speaker 2>Boss.
<v Speaker 4>Do you know who they originally called Bobby Heenan to
<v Speaker 4>manage in the WWF in eighty four. You recall this,
<v Speaker 4>We've talked about it before.
<v Speaker 2>I know, No, I don't know. You just see the
<v Speaker 2>body of Ventura. Wow.
<v Speaker 4>Then Ventura came down with that blood, blood clot issue
<v Speaker 4>or whatever it was in his leg right. That's featured,
<v Speaker 4>you know, in his his biopic and wonderful movie. Wonderful
<v Speaker 4>Movie featured in the under of the cinemat archives, if
<v Speaker 4>I'm not mistaken.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, that is. That's an oldie, but a goodie made.
<v Speaker 4>After he was elected governor of Minnesota, but he was
<v Speaker 4>forced to retire to to health problems pa Tera rights.
<v Speaker 4>As a result, Stud was instead tapped to become the
<v Speaker 4>first member of the Heaton family. Yeah so big. John
<v Speaker 4>Stud's involvement with Bobby Heenan and the whole Heenon family
<v Speaker 4>angle came as a result of Ventura not being able
<v Speaker 4>to do it, Attempting to capitalize off of the heat
<v Speaker 4>Heenon created in Aba with the original Heenan family. Who
<v Speaker 4>was the original Healon family. It was Lanza. It was Bockwinkle.
<v Speaker 4>It was all those guys, it made sense for Vince
<v Speaker 4>to also throw me in the mix. Potera rights. The
<v Speaker 4>family's first target was Andre the Giant. The move also
<v Speaker 4>made sense because Studd was already battling him over who
<v Speaker 4>the true giant of wrestling was, and I had loads
<v Speaker 4>of history with him as well. We scored the first
<v Speaker 4>major victory when he and and instigated a two on
<v Speaker 4>one attack that resulted in us cutting off Andrea's hair.
<v Speaker 4>Before we could get much further with that, however, there
<v Speaker 4>was a change in plans. Whereas petera fans asked no answer,
<v Speaker 4>I was written off at September eighty five. He didn't
<v Speaker 4>continue to target Andre, but no longer with me. He
<v Speaker 4>traded Adrian to Donnis and the missing link to Jimmy
<v Speaker 4>Hart from my replacement, King Kong Bundy. So when you
<v Speaker 4>see a Bundy in studio on this Villains of the
<v Speaker 4>Squared Circle tape, know that he's standing there because Ken
<v Speaker 4>Petero had to exit stage left the wow. Even though
<v Speaker 4>they show Paterra's angle on the tape. The Hiden family
<v Speaker 4>continued to make life difficult for Andre, and after that
<v Speaker 4>Hulk Cogan became Bobby's new enemy. For me, I was
<v Speaker 4>off fighting a new enemy of my own that was
<v Speaker 4>less evident to the world. He also comments on the
<v Speaker 4>dynamic between Big John Studd and Andre the Giant Big
<v Speaker 4>John Studd, he writes, Andrea was super generous, but he
<v Speaker 4>didn't like the idea of being ripped off. This leads
<v Speaker 4>me to his relationship in a few words about a
<v Speaker 4>fellow giant named Big John Studd. When Studd first started
<v Speaker 4>getting the big push in New York, he began stepping
<v Speaker 4>over the top rope. Was the only one who used
<v Speaker 4>to do that, and I think when the Eighth Wonder
<v Speaker 4>of the World saw John Stud do it, he felt
<v Speaker 4>like John was engaging in gimmick infringement. To make matters worse.
<v Speaker 4>John was having the ring announcer announce him as the
<v Speaker 4>giant Stud. Eventually the bookers finally started booking them against
<v Speaker 4>each other. It made sense. I don't think it was
<v Speaker 4>anyone trying to be mean. When the headlines finally came
<v Speaker 4>to Fruition, it was Andre vers Studd, and those matches
<v Speaker 4>were just brutal. Andre would just destroy him. If Stud
<v Speaker 4>tried to leave the ring, Andre would chase him back
<v Speaker 4>to the locker room, and if he got ahead of him,
<v Speaker 4>he would drag him back to the isle and laying
<v Speaker 4>in on poor John. That was not part of the show,
<v Speaker 4>albeit the fans ate it right up. Andre let him
<v Speaker 4>have it. If Andre didn't like you, you were screwed.
<v Speaker 4>Andre would stomp on your foot in the corner so
<v Speaker 4>you couldn't move, then grab you by the hair if
<v Speaker 4>you tried to run.
<v Speaker 2>He didn't care.
<v Speaker 4>He'd rip big clumps of your hair right out of
<v Speaker 4>your head. Stud didn't mean to, but he woke the
<v Speaker 4>sleeping giant, so to speak. He angered Andre by doing
<v Speaker 4>things that Andre believed only he should do. In Stud's defense,
<v Speaker 4>he didn't know what Andrea was thinking. Andrea never said
<v Speaker 4>anything to him. It was like Stud had to be
<v Speaker 4>able to read Andre's mind to know what the problem was.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah. Andre kind of a fucking prick in that guard. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I imagine that.
<v Speaker 4>Wherever I hear stories like this, I'm not like, Wow,
<v Speaker 4>Andre was so cool. I'm like Andrea was kind of
<v Speaker 4>like a bitch.
<v Speaker 2>Huh.
<v Speaker 4>Someone should have slapped his stupid ass. Other than something
<v Speaker 4>obvious like stepping over the top rope, Stud may have
<v Speaker 4>just sold something like a big man and that would
<v Speaker 4>piss Andre off. Stud could not even have known it
<v Speaker 4>was an offence to the French Frankenstein. One time Stud
<v Speaker 4>came running back to the locker room after a tense
<v Speaker 4>match with Andrea. Trepidation said in he had the fear
<v Speaker 4>of God in his eyes. Stud was quickly putting on
<v Speaker 4>his shirt, grabbing his stuff, and getting ready to get
<v Speaker 4>the hell out of Dodge. When we asked him where
<v Speaker 4>he was going, Stud said, I have to get out
<v Speaker 4>of here and get out right now. He's gonna kill me.
<v Speaker 4>Later that night, a bunch of us had gathered at
<v Speaker 4>the bar. We got there before Andre and had already
<v Speaker 4>begun the festivities. But when Andre walked in, Stud walked out. Wow,
<v Speaker 4>pretty much the deal. Really interesting stuff, so pussy.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>Keep that dynamic in mind as we look upon Villains
<v Speaker 4>of the Square Circle on the return Here in a
<v Speaker 4>lapsed fan of the Colosseum collection. We've dispensed with the
<v Speaker 4>death toll already, boss, Yes, we have so fucking heavy one.
<v Speaker 4>The only thing it's left to do is deep dive
<v Speaker 4>this tape. What do you say we pop it back
<v Speaker 4>in the VCR. Let's do it, let us do it.
<v Speaker 4>We'll see on the other side for that deep dive
