<v Speaker 1>Hey, everybody, Welcome to Gay Mess Mornings with Me Mike Minati,
<v Speaker 1>your host from GiantBomb dot com. Thank you for tuning in.
<v Speaker 1>In this episode, we are going to be talking about
<v Speaker 1>a partner.
<v Speaker 2>Direct is coming soon.
<v Speaker 1>We finally have some clarification on the whole dispatch Nintendo
<v Speaker 1>switch to censorship, Debuckle, and somehow beyond Good and Evil too,
<v Speaker 1>per sist. It's gonna be a good one because we
<v Speaker 1>have Jesse Vittelli on this show.
<v Speaker 2>Jesse, how are you doing.
<v Speaker 3>I'm doing great.
<v Speaker 2>Thank you for having me.
<v Speaker 3>It's Friday. We made it to the end of another week.
<v Speaker 1>We did it, Oh man, we sure did. This has
<v Speaker 1>been another go by fast week for me. It's still
<v Speaker 1>been very cold outside. I think school has been canceled
<v Speaker 1>for all kids here just all week because of cold.
<v Speaker 1>Mostly it's like a second little winter break for them.
<v Speaker 1>And because of it, I just stayed inside a lot,
<v Speaker 1>which like always makes time go really fast and feel
<v Speaker 1>kind of gross to me.
<v Speaker 3>No, I get that absolutely. The kids in New York
<v Speaker 3>City are currently trying to throw snowballs at may Or
<v Speaker 3>Mom Donnie for not closing the schools, but that's not
<v Speaker 3>his that's not his call. So you know what, throw
<v Speaker 3>the snowballs, go for.
<v Speaker 1>It, that fung that. Yeah, that's just where kids are
<v Speaker 1>going to do. But yeah, I'm definitely gonna love to
<v Speaker 1>get out this week in a bit to make up
<v Speaker 1>for being cooped up so much. The Youngstown Beer Fest
<v Speaker 1>that I go to with my friends every year is
<v Speaker 1>happening this weekend, So I'm going to be going to
<v Speaker 1>that with them and sampling a bunch of different beers,
<v Speaker 1>getting really into the idea that I get to vote
<v Speaker 1>for my favorite. My brother bought all of us themed
<v Speaker 1>shirts this year. Have you heard of the Lobster Boys
<v Speaker 1>Jesse Vitelli Lobster Boys.
<v Speaker 3>I feel like that's the thing I would get really into.
<v Speaker 3>Hold on, let me look.
<v Speaker 1>Up the Lobster. No, oh, you're not going to find
<v Speaker 1>it on the internet. No, no, this is as inexclusive stuff.
<v Speaker 1>This is Queen Me and my brothers, my friends. I
<v Speaker 1>don't know why, but we all just it started as
<v Speaker 1>a joke, like we're going to be the guys who
<v Speaker 1>just go and hang out at the bar at the
<v Speaker 1>Red Lobster, right like you know, it's one of the
<v Speaker 1>things you start thinking, like, why does.
<v Speaker 2>Red Lobster have a full service bar?
<v Speaker 1>At all times showing there, and it's like, well, it
<v Speaker 1>should be us, And then we start evangelizing Red Lobster
<v Speaker 1>and talking about how they have the coldest bruise and
<v Speaker 1>the fastest Wi Fi and all these things. And now
<v Speaker 1>it's escalated to the point where we have matching shirts
<v Speaker 1>with lobsters and beer on it, and I think we're
<v Speaker 1>all gonna wear them together when we go to this
<v Speaker 1>beer fest.
<v Speaker 3>Is Red Lobster recognized y'all as an official organization?
<v Speaker 2>Yet?
<v Speaker 3>No?
<v Speaker 1>And I tell you what, I've reached out. I have
<v Speaker 1>reached out, and it has been radio silence. And what's the.
<v Speaker 3>Point of being Internet famous if we can't get Red
<v Speaker 3>Lobster to recognize the Lobster boys. We gotta we gotta
<v Speaker 3>fix this' ys.
<v Speaker 1>They don't know that any constant and dopamine internet approval.
<v Speaker 1>I think I got it from Blue Sky. I got
<v Speaker 1>randomly verified on.
<v Speaker 3>The Blue Sky yesterday.
<v Speaker 1>So that was that was a big day for Mikey's
<v Speaker 1>first big day. Yeah, I'm not sure what that process
<v Speaker 1>because I never asked them to do it. I guess
<v Speaker 1>they just like notice me, smpire or something. I don't know,
<v Speaker 1>but I'll.
<v Speaker 3>They say that's a member of the Lobster Boys and
<v Speaker 3>they verified you.
<v Speaker 1>I guess that's what it is. I should have a
<v Speaker 1>special lobster claw verification on if I'm a Lobster Boy.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, but what about you?
<v Speaker 1>Any any plans for the weekend currently?
<v Speaker 3>No, I might go see was a concert this Aumotion
<v Speaker 3>City soundtrack concert tonight that I might buy last minute
<v Speaker 3>tickets to. We're waiting to find out those tickets are
<v Speaker 3>kind of pricey right now, so I'm gonna wait till
<v Speaker 3>like an hour before to see if the price goes
<v Speaker 3>down just enough where I'm like, okay, I can go now.
<v Speaker 3>But other than that, No, it's like last week we
<v Speaker 3>had the snowstorm, and now the snow is in a
<v Speaker 3>really gross spot where it's like piled up on the
<v Speaker 3>sidewalks and it's like you're dirty snow and it's like
<v Speaker 3>dog pee, and like it's impossible to cross the street
<v Speaker 3>because everything's blocked off with all the snow. So it's like,
<v Speaker 3>I don't really want to go outside this weekend if
<v Speaker 3>I don't have to, imtu play some video games.
<v Speaker 1>Are these the gross, slushy, ugly snowballs that they're throwing?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, it's all dirty and yellow and discolored, and
<v Speaker 3>it's so gross and everyone's gonna trudge through it because
<v Speaker 3>like you're just trying to cross the street and it's
<v Speaker 3>like there's no other way. We just gotta just gotta
<v Speaker 3>climb over it.
<v Speaker 1>Oh my god, this sounds kind of beautiful to me
<v Speaker 1>in some weird way, in a.
<v Speaker 3>Weird way, it's beautiful.
<v Speaker 1>All right. Before we get into things, let's explain ourselves.
<v Speaker 1>Most weekdays, Jeff Grub will be here to help peace
<v Speaker 1>your gaming life back together. Does this look like most
<v Speaker 1>days to you? No, I'm here, I'm in charge now.
<v Speaker 1>Uh yeah, we gave Jeff this one off. He's actually
<v Speaker 1>getting ready for a little trippy who He's going to
<v Speaker 1>be heading down to Minnesota to hang out with our
<v Speaker 1>friends at men Max. There were during the an ice
<v Speaker 1>out call Op charity stream. It's going to be starting
<v Speaker 1>at seven pm Eastern two nights. Everybody. We're going to
<v Speaker 1>be looking to benefit people who are maybe unable to
<v Speaker 1>leave their homes, fraid to leave their homes, Help get
<v Speaker 1>them some food, put food on families, that sort of thing.
<v Speaker 1>So very excited for that. Dan and Grub are going
<v Speaker 1>to be joining men Max for that one again. Seven
<v Speaker 1>pm Eastern two night. So yeah, very very proud of
<v Speaker 1>Jeffy on short notice being being willing to head out
<v Speaker 1>there and help make this happen. Yeah, I know that.
<v Speaker 1>I am very excited to watch that one ye there
<v Speaker 1>myself because I know you were you were doing some
<v Speaker 1>some fundraising yourself recently. Think you're playing some Resident Evil six.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, we me and one Michael Hyam have started our
<v Speaker 3>play through a Resident Evil six Leon's campaign specifically because
<v Speaker 3>we were like, it started out as like, oh, we
<v Speaker 3>should play Resident Evil six and play Leon's campaign because
<v Speaker 3>village is obviously coming out at the end of end
<v Speaker 3>of February, and then you know, all of the ice
<v Speaker 3>stuff started happening, really ramping up in Minnesota. We were like,
<v Speaker 3>we should like use this as a vehicle to raise money,
<v Speaker 3>and so we started the campaign last Sunday and I
<v Speaker 3>actually think we're going to continue it this Sunday. So, Okay,
<v Speaker 3>when you're done, when you're done with all the charity
<v Speaker 3>yourself with mid Max and Giant Bomb, if you're still
<v Speaker 3>looking for some more good content for people trying to
<v Speaker 3>raise money and awareness, like Sunday, you might get to
<v Speaker 3>watch some really bad Resident Evil six gameplay over at
<v Speaker 3>my Twitch channel on Michael Switch channel, so the keep
<v Speaker 3>the the support of the collective action going.
<v Speaker 1>You know, hey, that's six pm Eastern. By the way,
<v Speaker 1>everybody is when this thing is starting. I have been told, look,
<v Speaker 1>I'm looking at it the thing or here from a
<v Speaker 1>different site that's at t ven pm.
<v Speaker 2>It is only mildly my fault. Boy.
<v Speaker 1>I uh, I've always wanted to play Resievil six. I
<v Speaker 1>played Resievil seven this past weekend and had such a
<v Speaker 1>great time with it. Yeah yeah, you finish, Oh yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I point through the whole thing. It was fantastic. I've
<v Speaker 1>now played through most of the numbered resident Evils, but
<v Speaker 1>you know six is supposed to be bad and long,
<v Speaker 1>so that is definitely a bit of the torrent on
<v Speaker 1>that one.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, we're We played for about five hours on Sunday
<v Speaker 3>and we finished chapter two of what I believe is
<v Speaker 3>five chapters for Leon.
<v Speaker 1>How many qt ease how many qut easy?
<v Speaker 3>Did you has every it's every forty seconds e qtas
<v Speaker 3>per per second on that the qt EPs is all right.
<v Speaker 1>So yes, I'm here to bring the piece your game
<v Speaker 1>like back together that includes breaking news and maybe even
<v Speaker 1>some of our own original reporting for these topics. I'll
<v Speaker 1>get the input from a bona fide expert. It will
<v Speaker 1>make me look smart. If you're watching live on you
<v Speaker 1>our Twitch welcome. You can always listen to the show
<v Speaker 1>later on podcast feeds by searching for Games Mornings, or
<v Speaker 1>find the RSS feed on giant bum dot com. You
<v Speaker 1>can also catch the show later with chapters and timestamps
<v Speaker 1>on YouTube. Hello YouTube, Alright, got a lot to game too,
<v Speaker 1>so let's start the show with a Nintendo directors are
<v Speaker 1>reportedly coming next week dedicated to partner games from Andy
<v Speaker 1>Robinson and VGC. Nintendo will reportly stream a new nintend
<v Speaker 1>director dedicated to third party games next week. That's according
<v Speaker 1>to Nate the Hate and Game Explained, who claim a
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo Partner Director will take place on Thursday, February fifth.
<v Speaker 1>This matches what VGC has heard from our own sources.
<v Speaker 1>Partner Director is Nintendo's digital showcase for third party titles
<v Speaker 1>schedule for release on Switch and Switch To, rather than
<v Speaker 1>games Nintendo currently has in development at its own studios.
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo held a partner direct to last July, which feature
<v Speaker 1>games like fomp Phasy Tactics, Monster Hunter, Story Three, Hiro
<v Speaker 1>Warriors Age of Imprisonment, Star Wars, Outlaws, Octopath Travel Zero,
<v Speaker 1>and more. As Switched who enters the second half of
<v Speaker 1>its first year, many play are anticipating major third party
<v Speaker 1>game announcements. Games already confirmed for swhich to include Elden Ring,
<v Speaker 1>Double Seven, First Light India, Jones in The Great Circle,
<v Speaker 1>and from Softwar's The Dusk Bloods. This makes sense. I
<v Speaker 1>know a lot of people are hoping for a straight
<v Speaker 1>up Nintendo Direct with more Nintendo games being announced, although
<v Speaker 1>when you look at the calendar, there are a lot
<v Speaker 1>of Nintendo first party games already coming, Tomadaci Life which
<v Speaker 1>just had its own mini Direct, Mario Tennis, and things
<v Speaker 1>kind of a little bit further in the future, even
<v Speaker 1>like fire Emblem. I think everybody's still trying to see
<v Speaker 1>what's like the really big game this year, Like is
<v Speaker 1>there a new three D Mario, or is new Smash
<v Speaker 1>Brothers or you know, what's what's the big thing? Or
<v Speaker 1>you know, is that just Pokemon Gen ten, which we'll
<v Speaker 1>hear about on Pokemon Day here, which isn't super far away.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, Jesse, are you believing this reporting? And I
<v Speaker 1>suppose what are you hoping to see at a partner direct.
<v Speaker 3>I feel like enough people have come out to say like, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>this is happening that I don't know if the date
<v Speaker 3>is right, but like it feels about right for a
<v Speaker 3>partner showcase. My favorite thing about Nintendo is like, for
<v Speaker 3>all the years we've been trying to figure out, like, oh, well,
<v Speaker 3>they do these things on a schedule. They always have
<v Speaker 3>a February direct, they always have a September Direct. It's
<v Speaker 3>like we're always guessing, right, It's always in the dark.
<v Speaker 3>We're always just like trying to figure it out, and
<v Speaker 3>then like a lot of leakers come out and they're like,
<v Speaker 3>oh I got the scoop, and then it's it's always
<v Speaker 3>like ninety percent right. There's always like we're mostly there.
<v Speaker 3>So I believe there's a Partner direct. Yeah, I have
<v Speaker 3>no reason to not believe it. But like you said,
<v Speaker 3>Nintendo has a pretty strong slate. The first part of
<v Speaker 3>this year, it's like it's like Pokemon, Pacopia, Mario Tennis,
<v Speaker 3>What was the one We're just we're just Tomadaci life,
<v Speaker 3>that Yoshi and the Mysterious book.
<v Speaker 1>The Yoshi Game, Right, I always keep forgetting about that
<v Speaker 1>one they have.
<v Speaker 3>They have like the Super Mario Wonder Nintendo Switch to
<v Speaker 3>Edition or whatever, like they've got a lot of stuff
<v Speaker 3>coming out Virtual Boy.
<v Speaker 2>Of course you can forget that, you.
<v Speaker 3>Forget, And so I think a partner showcase makes sense
<v Speaker 3>to sort of round out the rest of the roster
<v Speaker 3>for like this first half of the year, because you
<v Speaker 3>have some pretty big ports like on the way, like
<v Speaker 3>obviously like Raisin and Evils coming to Switch to and
<v Speaker 3>stuff like that.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, it's possible that you know, Nintendo games of
<v Speaker 1>the sort could still show up here, like you know,
<v Speaker 1>like this said Higher Warriors was at the last one,
<v Speaker 1>so there could still be Nintendo properties if they're being
<v Speaker 1>made by other more third party studios. Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I think dust Bloods is maybe the biggest thing,
<v Speaker 3>because that's still the biggest question mark we have. It
<v Speaker 3>was something that was shown last year at the almost
<v Speaker 3>a year ago. It was in April beginning of April's
<v Speaker 3>when that got shown off. We're approaching it like it's
<v Speaker 3>time to see more of that game.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I feel like it was part of like the
<v Speaker 1>big switch to Direct. Yeah, in fact, and I still
<v Speaker 1>have a ton of questions on what that game is
<v Speaker 1>actually be a. Zaki himself is working on this one.
<v Speaker 1>It looks like Bloodborne, but you know, they're they're emphasizing
<v Speaker 1>the multiplayer, the PDP element of it, which you know,
<v Speaker 1>for me, that's not really what I come to those
<v Speaker 1>games for. So I'm a little wary of it. But yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I definitely you know, don't want to discount from Soft.
<v Speaker 1>They don't want to discount me as Zaki, So I'm
<v Speaker 1>curious to see more. There's also you know, the the
<v Speaker 1>elden Ring Ports, which was supposed to come out last year. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>people looked at it, they got previews, and apparently it
<v Speaker 1>looked awful. So I'm really curious about the ability of
<v Speaker 1>them to get that thing into decent shape.
<v Speaker 3>I do like that they kind of got ahead of
<v Speaker 3>it though, and they called it the Tarnished Edition from
<v Speaker 3>like the get go, like we already knew it was
<v Speaker 3>gonna be kind of like they kind of were pretty
<v Speaker 3>upfront about that. They're like, yeah, this is the tartist Edition.
<v Speaker 3>It's not gonna be great, and then you know, from
<v Speaker 3>from Software.
<v Speaker 1>I would also just like to see a switch to
<v Speaker 1>update for uh for uh Dark Souls. I'd like to
<v Speaker 1>see that game running at sixty francs per second. There
<v Speaker 1>a lot of games obviously that I would like to
<v Speaker 1>see get that treatment. But yeah, you know Double seven
<v Speaker 1>first Light, I'm curious what that's going to look like
<v Speaker 1>on here saything that Idian Jones in the Great Circle.
<v Speaker 1>We've seen some really good switch to ports, like the
<v Speaker 1>recent Final Fantasy seven remake. Then we've seen baffing, bafflingly
<v Speaker 1>bad ones like Skyrims. Somehow Skyrims switch to version doesn't
<v Speaker 1>look good. So it seems like it's all over the place.
<v Speaker 1>So it's I'm still not a point yet where you
<v Speaker 1>just tell me you're making a switch to version and
<v Speaker 1>I automatically believe it's going to be good.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>I'm excited for Rebirth on switch to eventually though, because
<v Speaker 3>the remake looks really good. So Rebirth I'd be really
<v Speaker 3>shocked to see how they got that one on there.
<v Speaker 3>But there's just so many games, like you could pretty
<v Speaker 3>much name anything that came out last generation or early
<v Speaker 3>this generation be like, yeah, that could come to switch
<v Speaker 3>to Why not?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean one of them was both. I always
<v Speaker 1>thought boulders Gate three, right and then behind the scenes
<v Speaker 1>drama on why that might not happen, But you know
<v Speaker 1>what about Claire up Skirt? Maybe last year's most talked
<v Speaker 1>about video game. That that's one that you think they
<v Speaker 1>would be desperate to put on switch to. Nintendo would
<v Speaker 1>be desperate to have on switch to. I wonder if
<v Speaker 1>that's one that we could see pop up here.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I wonder if we'll uh maybe, well we'll see
<v Speaker 3>a sneak peak of the Silk Song DLC.
<v Speaker 1>That's right, the watery kind of one whatever it was called.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, Sea of Sorrow or whatever it's called. Yeah, yes,
<v Speaker 3>because they said it was that was this year.
<v Speaker 1>I would be super excited about that. A lot of
<v Speaker 1>people try to bring it metaphors Fantasia. We did have
<v Speaker 1>three reloads show up on switch already, And of course
<v Speaker 1>there's all these Resident Evil games, right, Resident Resident Evil
<v Speaker 1>Requiem that's coming out on launch day on switch Shoe,
<v Speaker 1>along with ports of seven and eight. That still leaves
<v Speaker 1>out Residevil two, three, and four remake, So maybe we
<v Speaker 1>can see native versions of those announced at least for
<v Speaker 1>Switch to give us an idea that those are coming later.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, with Nathan Hate Game explained and also VGC
<v Speaker 1>kind of all saying that this is happening, I'm pretty
<v Speaker 1>inclined to believe it. So yeah, yeah, I'm going to
<v Speaker 1>be excited for this, and yeah, I get I'll get
<v Speaker 1>my hopes up for some like real exciting thing like yeah,
<v Speaker 1>like someone fire and chat said Caslvania Konami.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, finally show me what that is.
<v Speaker 1>Make that a real Nintendo we looking thing, and I'll
<v Speaker 1>be super stoked for it, all right. Nintendo comments on
<v Speaker 1>dispatches Nintendo switch shoes censorship. This is from Jory Miller
<v Speaker 1>at VGC earlier this week. Dispatch, the episodic narrative adventure
<v Speaker 1>game by ad Hoc Studio, set up by veteran developers
<v Speaker 1>from Telto Games Ubisoft in Night School Studio, was released
<v Speaker 1>on Nintennal Switch and Nintendo Switch too and statement sure
<v Speaker 1>We're going Nintendo. The publisher claimed that Nintendo itself doesn't
<v Speaker 1>make changes to gain content and that development partners are
<v Speaker 1>fully aware of platform restrictions. Here's the quote here from Nintendo.
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo requires all games on platforms to receive ratings from
<v Speaker 1>independent organizations and to meet our established content and platform guides.
<v Speaker 1>While we inform partners when the titles don't meet our guidelines,
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo does not make changes to partner content. Also do
<v Speaker 1>not discuss specific content or that criteria used in making
<v Speaker 1>these the turment nations Jesse. A lot of people are
<v Speaker 1>thinking that the kind of the message from this is
<v Speaker 1>that these were ad hocs's decisions to sort of reach
<v Speaker 1>certain criteria for either different country censorships or to get
<v Speaker 1>specific ratings to other places, and they did not do
<v Speaker 1>what say, you know, the cyberpunk people did, where you
<v Speaker 1>can kind of release different versions of the game for
<v Speaker 1>different markets to reach different ratings things. Here, they kind
<v Speaker 1>of have one version of the game and they want
<v Speaker 1>to make sure it complied with maybe the lowest common
<v Speaker 1>denominator here at least when it comes to I think
<v Speaker 1>this is a strange move for this game, a game
<v Speaker 1>which I'm not gonna say about many games. This is
<v Speaker 1>the game where I think that the nipples and the
<v Speaker 1>penises are pretty important.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>I only played the first chapter of Dispatch, but even that,
<v Speaker 3>like opening scene, it felt like, oh, this is kind
<v Speaker 3>of like what this game is. Its tone, it's like vibe,
<v Speaker 3>it's like what it sort of like. It's holisthetic, is
<v Speaker 3>sort of built around this idea of like kind of
<v Speaker 3>crude and lude superheroes, right, And I feel like if
<v Speaker 3>you take a lot of that away it kind of
<v Speaker 3>changes like what that game is trying, like the statement
<v Speaker 3>that game is.
<v Speaker 2>Trying to make.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and there are some like games where like if
<v Speaker 1>you put like the little censorship bar, I think it
<v Speaker 1>just plays as well. It's maybe even funnier. This is
<v Speaker 1>a game where no just it's the fact that you
<v Speaker 1>do just see that stuff is kind of part of
<v Speaker 1>the I don't know if I want to say greatness
<v Speaker 1>of it, but there's a casualness to the game, right Like,
<v Speaker 1>this is the game that is going to talk about sex,
<v Speaker 1>and there's gonna someone's gonna have a casual nip slip
<v Speaker 1>and it's going to maybe actually be a since your
<v Speaker 1>moment because of it. I would have no interest in
<v Speaker 1>playing this game in a censored formats and I shocked
<v Speaker 1>that they would even do that. And I see people
<v Speaker 1>are kind of reaching out for refunds things like that. Gosh,
<v Speaker 1>there's got to be something here. I don't know if
<v Speaker 1>we need it. Do we need like a different release
<v Speaker 1>of the game, like the adult only version for a
<v Speaker 1>certain market.
<v Speaker 3>Like.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, like the NSO and sixty four M plus the
<v Speaker 1>separate app right.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, that's you.
<v Speaker 3>You got to launch into a separate switch dashboard in
<v Speaker 3>which you can access dispatch and like GoldenEye and like then.
<v Speaker 1>You're good, right, right, Yeah, So I don't know. I
<v Speaker 1>wonder if they're going to just leave this be or
<v Speaker 1>if there's going to be something coming for this game
<v Speaker 1>that's going to change it up.
<v Speaker 3>It's so weird because like obviously rating, like rating boards
<v Speaker 3>all have very different criteria, and there's like we've seen
<v Speaker 3>over the years a lot of different things were like
<v Speaker 3>like a decade ago, Rainbow six Siede was like taking
<v Speaker 3>casinos out of the game because they wanted to put
<v Speaker 3>the game in China, and that like changed one of
<v Speaker 3>the maps, and like there's all these different facets of
<v Speaker 3>video games, especially when you release them in different places,
<v Speaker 3>are different systems, whatever. And then you like look at
<v Speaker 3>the switch Shop and it's like here's Henti Golf and
<v Speaker 3>like seven hundred sex games and then they're like dispatch though,
<v Speaker 3>like you need to figure your stuff out because like
<v Speaker 3>this rating, and it's obviously different companies talking to each
<v Speaker 3>other and different criteria for different things. But it really
<v Speaker 3>is fascinating to see how that switch Shop operates.
<v Speaker 1>It's so bizarre, and like the fact that a game
<v Speaker 1>called Hanti golf is on there is one thing and
<v Speaker 1>then to learn, and I want to emphasize learn. I
<v Speaker 1>have never played hand ti golf, but I've been told
<v Speaker 1>that there's actually a distinct lack of handtie in that
<v Speaker 1>video game. Like like all these games are just title bait.
<v Speaker 3>Just title bait. They are, right, but it is just
<v Speaker 3>funny that it's like, yeah, those those can get like
<v Speaker 3>like put those out there like title bait all you want,
<v Speaker 3>and then it's like okay, But like Dispatch a game
<v Speaker 3>that like uses it specifically for the way that it does,
<v Speaker 3>it is like no, you gotta like you gotta fit
<v Speaker 3>your stuff out right.
<v Speaker 1>But even that, it's like they're kind of self reporting,
<v Speaker 1>like we are going we had to figure it out,
<v Speaker 1>and what we're going to do is just kind of
<v Speaker 1>censor everything ourselves and hopefully that then we don't have
<v Speaker 1>to release multiple skews, which costs money for different territories.
<v Speaker 1>So it's a weird system. I still think there is
<v Speaker 1>something on nintended here for maybe the system being complicated,
<v Speaker 1>and I don't know, maybe Nintendo should reach out to
<v Speaker 1>special case studios like this and give them a hand.
<v Speaker 1>I'm not sure, but I don't think anybody wants to
<v Speaker 1>play a dispatch with with with with black bars over
<v Speaker 1>the dongs, I'm just gonna they don't say dong anymore.
<v Speaker 1>Is that aging me?
<v Speaker 3>It's I think it's aging you a little bit, But
<v Speaker 3>you know what, we'll allow it.
<v Speaker 1>I'm turning forty this year. I'm sorry, every body. I'm
<v Speaker 1>gonna I'm gonna have to say dog every once in
<v Speaker 1>a while.
<v Speaker 3>You're cooked.
<v Speaker 1>I used to Repenny Arcade and liked it. That's the
<v Speaker 1>old I am, everybody.
<v Speaker 3>I'm sorry you can't see it, but off screen, I
<v Speaker 3>do have a sign to penning Arkide comic on.
<v Speaker 1>I like that your kid, Yeah yeah, squar Nick says
<v Speaker 1>a new version of pant Fancay seven is coming to
<v Speaker 1>Steam Whoo, but doesn't say what's exactly new or when
<v Speaker 1>it's coming. It's from Andy Chalk at PC Gamer. There's
<v Speaker 1>a new version of Opposite seven coming to Steam to
<v Speaker 1>take place of the twenty thirteen release. Everyone who owns
<v Speaker 1>the original can have it for free, and even better,
<v Speaker 1>they'll continue to have access to the old addition too.
<v Speaker 1>Might be curious what's new in this new version or
<v Speaker 1>when will be out, And I'm sorry to say I
<v Speaker 1>can't help. A message posted to the fan Fantasy seven
<v Speaker 1>account on x says the original fun Fantasy sem will
<v Speaker 1>be released on Steam to provide an improved gameplay experience.
<v Speaker 1>In direct readers who announcement on Steam for full details
<v Speaker 1>and there definitely are more details, although calling it fool
<v Speaker 1>is a stretch. The existing game will be renamed a
<v Speaker 1>fump Fantasy seven to twenty thirteen edition when the new
<v Speaker 1>version launches. Existing ownders will have access to both versions,
<v Speaker 1>but the original will no longer be available for purchase.
<v Speaker 1>Save data will not be compatible. Twenty thirteen staves won't
<v Speaker 1>work in the new release, and vice versa. Soon jump
<v Speaker 1>into the new one, you'll be starting from scratch, Jesse,
<v Speaker 1>It's kind of fun to imagine what this could mean.
<v Speaker 1>What's this new version of fomp Fantasy seven. I see
<v Speaker 1>a lot of people saying that it might simply just
<v Speaker 1>be Well, actually, after the Steam release, the version that
<v Speaker 1>came to consoles like Xbox one, Place or four had
<v Speaker 1>a few extra bells and whistles, like the ability to
<v Speaker 1>turn off saves and some fast forwarding. Maybe, and we
<v Speaker 1>might just be getting that version on PC now, which
<v Speaker 1>graphically is still going to have the problem, at least
<v Speaker 1>for me, of like the seven eight nine remasters, we
<v Speaker 1>have these upress character models and then these super blurry backgrounds,
<v Speaker 1>and to me it looks much uglier than the games
<v Speaker 1>did on original hardware. Yeah, I've never liked the look
<v Speaker 1>of the Steam games, but yeah, I mean, do you
<v Speaker 1>think that's the case here? Is that you know, we
<v Speaker 1>should maybe lower expectations on what this could mean.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I'm not expecting anything major. I have seen some
<v Speaker 3>really bad faith actors out there saying, oh, they're gonna
<v Speaker 3>change the dialogue and they're gonna make it more in
<v Speaker 3>line with remake the way that like when Rebirth came
<v Speaker 3>out they went back and changed that line and remake.
<v Speaker 3>People like they're gonna change the original and like they baby,
<v Speaker 3>But like, I don't. I don't think that's what this
<v Speaker 3>is about.
<v Speaker 2>Man.
<v Speaker 3>I think this is just some quality of life features.
<v Speaker 3>I think people are maybe getting a little too uh
<v Speaker 3>too content brained. But yeah, I don't think some quality
<v Speaker 3>of life improvements and nothing more from this.
<v Speaker 1>I don't think people want the script for the original
<v Speaker 1>Final Fantasy seven to change, even though, like to me,
<v Speaker 1>this is kind of like one of the last ones
<v Speaker 1>from screens where I don't think the script was amazing,
<v Speaker 1>but at this point it's iconic. It has a charm
<v Speaker 1>to it. You don't just go back and change it.
<v Speaker 1>I don't think they're going in and adding like Easter eggs.
<v Speaker 1>It's not gonna be a secret countdown timer to the
<v Speaker 1>announcement of Resident Evil Remake Part three or anything like
<v Speaker 1>that in here. I also seen some people consern that,
<v Speaker 1>you know a lot of people have made mods for
<v Speaker 1>foun Fantasy seven, and they made it for that twenty
<v Speaker 1>thirteen edition, and are those gonna be compatible with the
<v Speaker 1>new version of this game?
<v Speaker 2>Question?
<v Speaker 1>Right, And so that might be a problem gating this
<v Speaker 1>twenty thirteen version. Yeah, it will still be accessible to
<v Speaker 1>people who own it right now, but it's not gonna
<v Speaker 1>be sold anymore, right, so it's not gonna be super compatible.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>The fact that saves an't gonna be compatible between them
<v Speaker 1>is maybe a clue that like, okay, it won't the
<v Speaker 1>mods something might be.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>I do like to think about the person though, that
<v Speaker 3>like bought that game, played like half of it, and
<v Speaker 3>then in twenty twenty six six is like I'm gonna
<v Speaker 3>pick up my save, I'm gonna let's go and then
<v Speaker 3>they're like, oh no, by save, I have to start
<v Speaker 3>over from fifteen years ago, and it's.
<v Speaker 1>Like right, So I know when I'm in that situation,
<v Speaker 1>I always I'm like, I guess I'm starting this game
<v Speaker 1>over from the top. I think I played through the
<v Speaker 1>train section of Final Fantasy seven and all of its
<v Speaker 1>versions like a two dozen and times at this point,
<v Speaker 1>and I always enjoy it. I never have any problem
<v Speaker 1>with that. But I mean, I don't know, I wish
<v Speaker 1>that more, a little bit more could be done, even
<v Speaker 1>a mode that maybe some new filters that do just
<v Speaker 1>make it look more like the PlayStation. I don't mind
<v Speaker 1>the harder edges with a good CRT filter as opposed
<v Speaker 1>to the kind of weird you know, like you know
<v Speaker 1>the meme of a squall and from Fantasy eight, and
<v Speaker 1>you know, Renoah's like, you're the most handsome guy here
<v Speaker 1>and then they zoom in and he looks like shit.
<v Speaker 1>I like him looking like shit. That's how I want
<v Speaker 1>him to look like. I don't want that shit upreds
<v Speaker 1>or anything like that. The backgrounds, I don't know, they
<v Speaker 1>those do get so weird when you make the games
<v Speaker 1>HD all of a sudden. Yeah, it doesn't look good.
<v Speaker 2>They were not and fans have done.
<v Speaker 1>Some things they're like using, you know, like maybe one
<v Speaker 1>of the few good uses of quote unquote AI. I
<v Speaker 1>don't know where you can upreds the background assets at least,
<v Speaker 1>and that has sometimes looked pretty decent, at least in mods.
<v Speaker 1>But I don't know. We'll see. We have no date
<v Speaker 1>on this, we don't have any other details. It's just
<v Speaker 1>going to happen at some point and I'll be curious
<v Speaker 1>to see. But boy, I am ready for fun Fantasy seven.
<v Speaker 1>Do you think we're getting that fom Fantasy seven Part
<v Speaker 1>three remake announcement soonish, by the end of the year,
<v Speaker 1>maybe even much sooner than that.
<v Speaker 3>Jesse, Well, now that they have remake out of the way,
<v Speaker 3>I think that was like a big thing for them.
<v Speaker 3>It's like we got to get remake on Switch and Xbox.
<v Speaker 3>We got to like do all that and then we
<v Speaker 3>could start thinking about how we're going to market three.
<v Speaker 3>I think if you see remake at this Partner showcase
<v Speaker 3>and it has a date of this year, I don't
<v Speaker 3>think you hear a rebirth. If you hear the rebirth
<v Speaker 3>Switch announcement at the partner showcase. I don't think we
<v Speaker 3>hear about Part three until after that is out. I
<v Speaker 3>think they want to get remake and rebirth on everything
<v Speaker 3>to have it all talked about, and then we'll see
<v Speaker 3>part three, like we'll hear something about it. So it's
<v Speaker 3>either going to be late late this year or like
<v Speaker 3>very early next year. But I think I think it's
<v Speaker 3>going to be a while before we hear about Part three.
<v Speaker 1>I'm really excited, uh for it. I you know, I
<v Speaker 1>think generally everybody's been really positive on the first two parts.
<v Speaker 1>I know I have been. I think there's been some
<v Speaker 1>questions about the ending of part two. I think like
<v Speaker 1>how this all ends in part three is ultimately how
<v Speaker 1>these games are going to be looked back on in
<v Speaker 1>the decades. The fall, right, they kind of do, you know,
<v Speaker 1>nail the landing on this. All right, everybody, let's take
<v Speaker 1>a quick break. We'll be right back. Let's talk about
<v Speaker 1>We'll talk about Beyond Good and Evil too, right, because uh,
<v Speaker 1>we live in hell. Hey, everyone's game has Morning's me
<v Speaker 1>Mike Manatti stepping in for Jeff grab We got Jesse
<v Speaker 1>Vittelli here, and we're gonna keep going through the news,
<v Speaker 1>including the director assures that Upisoft remains committed to Beyond
<v Speaker 1>Good and Evil To despite recent up heavil and I
<v Speaker 1>forgot to write who wrote this one? I think I
<v Speaker 1>got this one from now I don't know. I gn
<v Speaker 1>let's say.
<v Speaker 2>Ah the creative direct.
<v Speaker 1>Creative director of Movies offs Long and development Beyond Good
<v Speaker 1>and Evil To has spoken for the first time since
<v Speaker 1>the company's major reset, reassuring that development of the game
<v Speaker 1>is progressing. Last week, the Assassin Creed publisher announced a
<v Speaker 1>significant organizational restructuring which we'll see its development teams planned
<v Speaker 1>into autonomous creative houses. One of those houses was confirmed
<v Speaker 1>to include Beyond Good and Evil Too, the game that's
<v Speaker 1>now been in development in some form for nearly twenty years.
<v Speaker 1>Its inclusion came as a surprise to some, since Ubisoft's
<v Speaker 1>had seemingly been somewhat ruthless with the decision to cancel
<v Speaker 1>six games, including the remake of Prince of Purga the
<v Speaker 1>Stands of Time. However, Creative director Fozzi Mesmer has now
<v Speaker 1>commented on Beyond Good and Evil Too status for reassuring
<v Speaker 1>this development team remains committed and focused on delivering a
<v Speaker 1>remarkable game for our players to enjoy. And now here's
<v Speaker 1>the quote from LinkedIn. Thank you to everyone who has
<v Speaker 1>reached out to me over the past few days. In
<v Speaker 1>regards to reason who's at Ubisoft, myself, my team, and
<v Speaker 1>our project Beyond Good and Evil Too are unaffected by
<v Speaker 1>the recent changes. I would direct you to the official
<v Speaker 1>press release for information around the latest organizational structure. He
<v Speaker 1>used to say. I am saddened by the cancelations that
<v Speaker 1>has affected my colleagues and other parts of UBISFT in
<v Speaker 1>the industry. I urge everyone, the self included, to offer
<v Speaker 1>support whenever and however they can during these times. We
<v Speaker 1>were may committed and focus on delivering a remarkable game
<v Speaker 1>for our players to enjoy. Beyond Good and Evil To
<v Speaker 1>was originally announced back in two thousand and eight, and
<v Speaker 1>despite a re reveal in twenty seventeen, there's still been
<v Speaker 1>no sign of a release anytime soon. Creator Michael Wnsell
<v Speaker 1>left Ubisoft in twenty twenty, saying he was leaving the
<v Speaker 1>video game industry entirely to focus on a new career
<v Speaker 1>in Wildlife Boy.
<v Speaker 2>What a paragraph that was.
<v Speaker 1>Boy, Beyond Good and Evil Too, Jesse, do you believe
<v Speaker 1>this is a video game you are ever going to play?
<v Speaker 3>Uh? No, I haven't believed it was a video game.
<v Speaker 3>I was ever gonna play from the moment they like
<v Speaker 3>re showed it in like twenty sixteen at E three.
<v Speaker 3>From that moment on, I was like, this is not real.
<v Speaker 3>You're just showing me like ideas y'all have had, and
<v Speaker 3>a bunch of like really good looking concept art and
<v Speaker 3>like some like small gameplay sections, and then you brought
<v Speaker 3>like Joseph Gordon Levin out and like, I super didn't
<v Speaker 3>believe this game was never coming out, and so I
<v Speaker 3>just I don't. I don't believe you. I'm sorry, I
<v Speaker 3>just don't.
<v Speaker 1>It's so bizarre. By the way, this so sory is
<v Speaker 1>from Andy Robinson ed VGC. What's Andy?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, because when they re you.
<v Speaker 1>Know, when that first reveal, it's just beyond good and
<v Speaker 1>evil too, right, And they showed Ja, they showed the
<v Speaker 1>you know, the pig, and it's like the Further Adventures.
<v Speaker 1>I'm like, okay, that makes sense.
<v Speaker 2>Now. When they re.
<v Speaker 1>Revealed it, it's like it's a prequel and it's now
<v Speaker 1>the most ambitious video game ever and it's like the
<v Speaker 1>first one didn't sell very well. Why would you make
<v Speaker 1>that bet on this game? Beyond good and able to
<v Speaker 1>should just be a kind of small scale Zelda. Like
<v Speaker 1>that's what the first one was, and it was really neat.
<v Speaker 1>It was right pretty you're blowing.
<v Speaker 3>It out with the like most high budget CG like
<v Speaker 3>short films. Right. Both of those E three E trailers
<v Speaker 3>were like long and like very involved.
<v Speaker 1>Right, and now they're like, it's a space pirate game
<v Speaker 1>where you can land on any planet and create any
<v Speaker 1>character that you want, and it's super dynamic and as
<v Speaker 1>the largest cities in any video game, and user created
<v Speaker 1>art assets and all of this stuff that there's no wait, look,
<v Speaker 1>even if this game hadn't been development for twenty years
<v Speaker 1>or something, so there's already so much sunk money into it.
<v Speaker 1>There's no way this game is going to find some
<v Speaker 1>big audience and be a giant hit. It is a
<v Speaker 1>sequel to a game that is a darling of hardcore gamers.
<v Speaker 1>I like it a lot, but it never found an audience.
<v Speaker 1>Why is there any chance that this one is suddenly
<v Speaker 1>going to find some big audience. There's no reason to
<v Speaker 1>believe it.
<v Speaker 3>I don't know, but if you go back to that
<v Speaker 3>twenty sixteen re reveal, I'm pretty sure what of the
<v Speaker 3>developers calls it a space opera, and I'm like, I
<v Speaker 3>don't think you y'all know what this is.
<v Speaker 2>I think they've heard.
<v Speaker 1>I think they've just heard George Lucas called Star Wars
<v Speaker 1>that once, so they just thought that'd be a fun
<v Speaker 1>term to throw around.
<v Speaker 3>I it's one of those things where it feels like
<v Speaker 3>that's like this is like Scope Creep the game where
<v Speaker 3>it's like they kept having ideas and they kept adding
<v Speaker 3>to it, and they kept building it out, and now
<v Speaker 3>they like are trying to figure out what it is.
<v Speaker 3>And then like Ubisoft is going through all of this
<v Speaker 3>turmoil right now as a company and like making a
<v Speaker 3>lot of bad decisions, and this game has just sort
<v Speaker 3>of like been kicking around and it might be like
<v Speaker 3>a sunk cost fallacy thing where they've just put so
<v Speaker 3>much time and money into it. They're like, we this
<v Speaker 3>has to come out. We can't, we can't abandon this project.
<v Speaker 1>It is, Yeah, it is shocking that, you know. I
<v Speaker 1>don't want it. I don't want anyone's game to be canceled.
<v Speaker 1>I don't want anybody to lose their job, of course,
<v Speaker 1>But it's just everything that happens that Ubisoft recently It
<v Speaker 1>is just surprising that, like this game is is the
<v Speaker 1>cockroach that just doesn't seem to ever go away. You know,
<v Speaker 1>when that Beyond Good and Evil one Ringmaster came out
<v Speaker 1>last year. The year before they did add in Easter
<v Speaker 1>Riggs teasing Beyond Good and Evil too, and that was
<v Speaker 1>like another like, oh, this that game is still really
<v Speaker 1>gonna come out.
<v Speaker 2>And by the way, no one seemed to play that remaster.
<v Speaker 2>I did. I liked it.
<v Speaker 1>I heard no one else talk about it, right, So,
<v Speaker 1>I just don't know where the faith in this one is.
<v Speaker 1>Somebody very high up just must be really into the
<v Speaker 1>idea that this is the game and it's going to
<v Speaker 1>turn around all things. There's no way it comes down
<v Speaker 1>and is actually called Beyond Good and Evil too. I
<v Speaker 1>gotta say that, right, Like at this point you really
<v Speaker 1>call this.
<v Speaker 3>Game, right, just calld and evil and you just you
<v Speaker 3>just live in a world where there's two of them.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I always like the too festive, fious, too good, too
<v Speaker 1>evil to may now we're talking. Also, it's a prequel actually, right,
<v Speaker 1>an adult Jade does show up?
<v Speaker 2>Maybe, God, there's that one.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and it with Adult Jade and Page the Pig
<v Speaker 1>was like, oh, my god, it's it is Jade. And
<v Speaker 1>by the way, as much as I liked Beyond Good
<v Speaker 1>Evil One, the game like then has an awful ending
<v Speaker 1>where it turns out Jade has a super magical destiny.
<v Speaker 1>I'm like, great, very exciting stuff.
<v Speaker 3>When was the last time we saw this game? Was
<v Speaker 3>it twenty like seventeen or twenty eighteen pre COVID.
<v Speaker 2>There were two.
<v Speaker 1>I don't think we've seen anything new about this game
<v Speaker 1>post COVID. They've talked about it, and technically there's the
<v Speaker 1>hits that they added in the remaster in terms of
<v Speaker 1>like the last time is like, now, let's talk about
<v Speaker 1>a real video game and show you some new assets.
<v Speaker 1>The trailer gameplay that we showed that has been a
<v Speaker 1>long long time coming. Boy, I don't know. I worry
<v Speaker 1>about Ubisoft. I know a lot of this is of
<v Speaker 1>their own making, but they just employ so many people
<v Speaker 1>over there, and they're restructuring, which is roofless and it's
<v Speaker 1>I think the pain is going to continue, and I
<v Speaker 1>just don't know if I believe there is sunshine at
<v Speaker 1>the end of this tunnel. How about you? Jesse?
<v Speaker 3>No, And I know I've been incredibly negative, but during
<v Speaker 3>this segment about this game because I don't think it's real.
<v Speaker 3>But like at the end of I do want this
<v Speaker 3>game to come out. I do want it to be good.
<v Speaker 3>Like this game looks everything they've shown look sick. I
<v Speaker 3>just don't believe it's a like playable video game, you
<v Speaker 3>know what I mean? Yeah, exactly, And it's just been
<v Speaker 3>It's one of those games where you hear about it
<v Speaker 3>for years and then it goes away, and then you
<v Speaker 3>hear about it again and like an earnings call or something,
<v Speaker 3>and it's like, what happened in the ten years since
<v Speaker 3>we've seen this game again to now? And is it
<v Speaker 3>like we're running out of those games in this industry
<v Speaker 3>where it's like, oh, this game has been in development
<v Speaker 3>for so long and so many like like we just
<v Speaker 3>had Metro Prime four, which is like almost a ten
<v Speaker 3>year like developments. Like we're running out of those games.
<v Speaker 3>But Beyond Good and Evil Too is one of those
<v Speaker 3>few that are left that kind of just keep kicking around.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, you know a lot of these games that do
<v Speaker 1>feel like, oh, they're never gonna happen, they somehow do happen.
<v Speaker 1>We did get METROI Prime for a week all of
<v Speaker 1>Night's Silk Song is now almost own news, right after
<v Speaker 1>years and years and years of that's not a real
<v Speaker 1>video game.
<v Speaker 3>Now it's not a shen MoU three. We got it,
<v Speaker 3>shen Mo three.
<v Speaker 1>That happened. So you know a lot of people seem
<v Speaker 1>to think Halfway three is on the table again. So
<v Speaker 1>everything happens eventually, So maybe something happens with this one.
<v Speaker 1>But I don't know if it's if they couldn't figure
<v Speaker 1>out how to remake Prince of Persia the Sands of Time, right,
<v Speaker 1>how do you figure this out? I just I don't.
<v Speaker 1>I don't have much.
<v Speaker 2>Faith, all right.
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo issues correction over leaked Nintendo Switch Online GameCube games.
<v Speaker 1>This is from Chris Comban dio at GameSpot. A Walmart
<v Speaker 1>advertisement showing two unannounced GameCube games coming to nintentn Switch
<v Speaker 1>Online was actually a mistake from Nintendo itself. The two
<v Speaker 1>titles aren't playing for the service as of yet. After
<v Speaker 1>Walmart's Attendo pages splayed a graphic including Metro Prime two
<v Speaker 1>Echoes and Pigment two, and the Attendo of America spokesperson
<v Speaker 1>told IGN that it provided a retailer with an image
<v Speaker 1>of Nintendo GameCube tender Classic titles that incorrectly included games
<v Speaker 1>that are not planned for release at this time. The
<v Speaker 1>image has since been removed. Okay, so not Walmart's fault.
<v Speaker 1>It was Nintendo who provided a wrong image. But where
<v Speaker 1>did this image come from? Is Batos right? I mean,
<v Speaker 1>I guess, first off, do you believe them? Do you
<v Speaker 1>think that like these games aren't somewhat imminent for GameCube? Nso?
<v Speaker 1>And that's the part of reason that they're on there,
<v Speaker 1>And it's not just a matter of like, oh, we
<v Speaker 1>put those on there before we announce them.
<v Speaker 3>I I'm kind of in two minds of it, right,
<v Speaker 3>because like I see the world in which like a
<v Speaker 3>freelance graphic design person or like just some design person
<v Speaker 3>at Nintendo was like, hey, we need these assets to
<v Speaker 3>go out to retailers, and they grabbed a bunch of
<v Speaker 3>stuff and maybe they put something in there that they
<v Speaker 3>weren't supposed to. Like, like I could see the world
<v Speaker 3>in which like a chain of command just like misses
<v Speaker 3>something like this, and it makes it out because it
<v Speaker 3>happens all the time for other places. But also it's
<v Speaker 3>Nintendo who's like very meticular was about these types of
<v Speaker 3>things and is very specific about the marketing materials that
<v Speaker 3>they put out, and so it's also like that image
<v Speaker 3>exists for a reason, and I just don't like like
<v Speaker 3>it's a it's in a drive somewhere because at some
<v Speaker 3>point those games will eventually make it to the system,
<v Speaker 3>right right, because they're not like niche games.
<v Speaker 1>No, they're big game cubes. There's something there's caveats to
<v Speaker 1>both of them. Like Pickman one and two have already
<v Speaker 1>been released on Switch. They kind of got you know, ports,
<v Speaker 1>they are not they aren't too different from rams, but
<v Speaker 1>they are enhanced in some ways. And Metroid Prime two,
<v Speaker 1>everybody wants that game to be remastered like Metro Prime
<v Speaker 1>one was, and you know, there were reports that that
<v Speaker 1>that had been done and they just aren't releasing it.
<v Speaker 1>So I think for a lot of people just having
<v Speaker 1>a rom of that game on GameCube nso and being
<v Speaker 1>stuck with the old tank controls and not having you know,
<v Speaker 1>forget about the graphics of remaster. Maybe it's not going
<v Speaker 1>to look as good as that, but just the new
<v Speaker 1>control systems of the other quality of life stuff that
<v Speaker 1>seems that seems a little bit rough.
<v Speaker 2>There have you spending a lot of time with game
<v Speaker 2>Cube andso.
<v Speaker 3>Almost zero mm, because I have a game cube in
<v Speaker 3>my living room, but I have.
<v Speaker 1>I like three game cubes in mind. I was thick though,
<v Speaker 1>so I've.
<v Speaker 3>Been spending a lot of time playing like actual GameCube.
<v Speaker 3>But then Nintendo Switch operatings are good. They just they're
<v Speaker 3>drip feeding them like it's it feels slower than all
<v Speaker 3>of the other things that they've done. And maybe just
<v Speaker 3>because the catalog is so much smaller that they're they
<v Speaker 3>already have out, but it feels like before we got
<v Speaker 3>what was the most recently, just before that, it was
<v Speaker 3>like it was like that random Warrior game, and then
<v Speaker 3>before that it felt like it was forever.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, now, wait a second, I'm a big Warrior World
<v Speaker 1>Defender game.
<v Speaker 3>That wasn't that wasn't a knock against Warrio.
<v Speaker 1>I want to be very okay.
<v Speaker 3>I just mean like it wasn't in the I don't
<v Speaker 3>remember it being in the slate of games when they.
<v Speaker 1>Originally You're right, Yes, you're right. I was surprised that
<v Speaker 1>we got that one as soon as we did at first. Sure,
<v Speaker 1>because yeah, there's other ones that they've announced that are coming,
<v Speaker 1>like including Sunshine. Yeah we got the that makes sense
<v Speaker 1>because yeah, both there's two there's causing Gale of Darkness,
<v Speaker 1>and those are cool because those are very expensive games,
<v Speaker 1>so just having them on there. The fire on them
<v Speaker 1>was too. Yeah, putting fire them on there was really
<v Speaker 1>cool to see. I think that the emulation is feels
<v Speaker 1>pretty good now. It still feels really bad on Windwaker
<v Speaker 1>to me for some reason, I definitely have had the
<v Speaker 1>most fun with it, like on Launch, playing Soul Caliber
<v Speaker 1>two with friends of that game is still incredible. But yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I definitely want more game Cube innisult games coming out
<v Speaker 1>bit faster.
<v Speaker 2>I hope.
<v Speaker 1>I hope we see some third party stuff showing up there. Hey,
<v Speaker 1>you know what would be a good one for that
<v Speaker 1>service now, the Prince of Persia, the Sands of Time.
<v Speaker 2>That'd be great. We should do that now.
<v Speaker 3>I'd like to see Ari four chaw controller.
<v Speaker 2>In Virtual Boy.
<v Speaker 3>They could do anything at this point. Sell me all
<v Speaker 3>the old peripheries.
<v Speaker 1>That's fine, man, you gotta give us some beautiful Joe,
<v Speaker 1>all right. Yakiza Kiwami three Studio says the full game
<v Speaker 1>won't have the graphical issues being reported the demo. This
<v Speaker 1>is by Chris going in at VGC down for the
<v Speaker 1>upcoming Yakaza three remake was released last week, but players
<v Speaker 1>soon started posting screenshots and videos showing examples of poor
<v Speaker 1>lighting in the game, most notably during one river area. Now,
<v Speaker 1>the studio has posted a statement on x in which
<v Speaker 1>it has assured players that's aware of the issues and
<v Speaker 1>we'll fix them in time for the games released on
<v Speaker 1>February twelve. This is a quote. Now, we have heard
<v Speaker 1>concerns from players regarding graphical issues and other problems present
<v Speaker 1>in the downloadable demo for Yakiza Kiwami three and Dark Ties.
<v Speaker 1>Rest assured the graphical quality of the demo does not
<v Speaker 1>represent the final experience. We plan to have a version
<v Speaker 1>one point one to one patch of bill Butt launch
<v Speaker 1>which will address the lighting issue and other quality concerns
<v Speaker 1>in the full game. One specific example is visual lighting
<v Speaker 1>issues around the Kubachi River area and the downtown Real
<v Speaker 1>qu area, which many of you have already pointed out.
<v Speaker 1>This patch won'tclude on just fixes for the issues that
<v Speaker 1>Dan Fight above, but many other improvements. Look forward to
<v Speaker 1>sharing the final version of Yakiza Kwami three and Dark
<v Speaker 1>Ties with our global audience on February twelve.
<v Speaker 2>Worth noting out.
<v Speaker 1>That another issue people have with this game is that
<v Speaker 1>Kawami three has an actor in it that has a
<v Speaker 1>history of sexual mis conduct, a ta Yuki Kagawa, and
<v Speaker 1>they have not said anything about that, so it seems
<v Speaker 1>like we are stuck with that weirdness.
<v Speaker 2>Uh.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know, justin maybe they fix this issue, maybe
<v Speaker 1>it still looks pretty bad. I am not sensing too
<v Speaker 1>much excitement for this particular Yakiza game.
<v Speaker 3>No, It's it's like, okay, sure, maybe they fix this
<v Speaker 3>one particular thing, but it's like this game has been
<v Speaker 3>like death by a thousand cuts. They just keep stepping
<v Speaker 3>in it, and they keep making decisions that they don't
<v Speaker 3>need to make, and like, I know, Yakiza three is
<v Speaker 3>like a kind of a contentious game in this series.
<v Speaker 3>It's people don't love the gameplay of it, but like
<v Speaker 3>it is like retroactively become like an incredibly important aim
<v Speaker 3>in that franchise because it deals so much with like
<v Speaker 3>Kiriu and the children and the orphanage and all of that,
<v Speaker 3>And like I personally love three a lot, and it
<v Speaker 3>feels like every decision they make with this remake is
<v Speaker 3>just like I don't like, what are we doing? Like
<v Speaker 3>why why does it look like this? Why are you
<v Speaker 3>casting this person, like why are you changing these things?
<v Speaker 3>And I'm not like a purist by any means, but
<v Speaker 3>it just feels like they're making a series of bad
<v Speaker 3>decisions and them going, we're gonna fix some of the
<v Speaker 3>graphical stuff. It's not actually gonna fix the problems with
<v Speaker 3>that remake. And that's like where I'm at.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and even like this graphical stuff, like, yeah, there's
<v Speaker 1>probably patches. I'm sure the demo's not based on the
<v Speaker 1>latest build. This game comes out on February twelve. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>that is very soon. So you know, that is so
<v Speaker 1>soon that at a point when a demo has some issues,
<v Speaker 1>I'm not expecting the full release to be squeaky clean.
<v Speaker 3>No. I think there's just like a lot of problems
<v Speaker 3>with this game, and I don't think like one or
<v Speaker 3>two patch is gonna be able to fix the like
<v Speaker 3>just inherent misunderstanding. I think of what this thing is
<v Speaker 3>and what people enjoyed about this thing was just weird.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's about because I'm someone who hasn't really jumped
<v Speaker 1>into the Yakuza series very much. It's you know, someday
<v Speaker 1>I would like to, you know, start with zero and
<v Speaker 1>then we're my way through the kiwammis. But uh yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I just uh, I don't want to be bummed out
<v Speaker 1>when I get to this one. Are are you hopeful
<v Speaker 1>that they do continue?
<v Speaker 2>Though?
<v Speaker 1>I got I guess I doesn't know much. Is yak
<v Speaker 1>is a four a beloved one that people are desperate
<v Speaker 1>to see a remake of?
<v Speaker 3>I know people really like five, and obviously six is
<v Speaker 3>already like good, like it's already where it's at. I
<v Speaker 3>don't think I think three is like the last one
<v Speaker 3>that needs to be touched, especially if this is the
<v Speaker 3>way we're gonna touch three, just just be done with it.
<v Speaker 3>We're good. Tajarr heads up in the air and say
<v Speaker 3>we're okay, We're done here.
<v Speaker 1>All right. Goog has responded to Kataki regarding AI banner
<v Speaker 1>ad art and you saw this, Yeah yeah. Goog for
<v Speaker 1>their like for recent sale had this really ugly obviously
<v Speaker 1>AI generated artwork. Uh there's like a melting Super Nintendo
<v Speaker 1>on it. Those Yeah, it's it's gross. A gog spokesperson
<v Speaker 1>declined to confirm that the art was generated using AI
<v Speaker 1>tools it was, but told Kataku the company is aware
<v Speaker 1>of the discussions happening online. Here's the full statement at
<v Speaker 1>this time. We won't be able to comment publicly on
<v Speaker 1>our internal process. As our tools, however, we're aware of
<v Speaker 1>the conversations happening around the topic and the assumptions that
<v Speaker 1>can go with it. What the hell does that mean?
<v Speaker 3>What are we talking about?
<v Speaker 2>Tell me you're not gonna do it. I can tell
<v Speaker 2>me it was AI and you won't do it again.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, just say my bad goat and then be done
<v Speaker 3>with it.
<v Speaker 2>You're yeah, you're geog.
<v Speaker 1>You're a niche online gaming store for kind of the
<v Speaker 1>most like hardcore retro loving or PC and enthusiasts, the
<v Speaker 1>people who are going to be the most inclined to
<v Speaker 1>hate this shit. It's so far. I usually love GG,
<v Speaker 1>especially somebody who likes your old point click adventure games
<v Speaker 1>like this is the place I gotta go for a
<v Speaker 1>lot of that stuff. And usually I'm happy to go there.
<v Speaker 1>And you know, I know that they have you know,
<v Speaker 1>there are probably a smaller team now right it was
<v Speaker 1>CD Project Red who owned them and not anymore so.
<v Speaker 1>The resources might be limited. I don't care. Go hire
<v Speaker 1>an artist to make a banner art, and if you can't,
<v Speaker 1>then don't have banner art. Then have a have text
<v Speaker 1>up there that says, if you're twenty twenty six, sail,
<v Speaker 1>don't do this shit. It's so fucking gross and ugly
<v Speaker 1>and it just makes your store look unprofessional and lame.
<v Speaker 1>Oooh yeah, yeah, exactly. There you go. Boo. All right,
<v Speaker 1>those are our news stories. But we've got a couple
<v Speaker 1>other things here. We've got we've got the we got
<v Speaker 1>the pole question and the bomb twelve. What what does
<v Speaker 1>it usually do first? The poll question or bomb twel oh, Jan,
<v Speaker 1>I don't know how, like, what do you want to
<v Speaker 1>do first? I guess I want to do in the show.
<v Speaker 1>I want to do the poll first. And the poll
<v Speaker 1>here says how do you feel about game key cards?
<v Speaker 1>I'm going to vote and say, uh.
<v Speaker 2>I don't. I hate saying.
<v Speaker 1>I'm gonna say I don't care. I don't really buy
<v Speaker 1>m physical games anymore. And a lot of people agree
<v Speaker 1>with me. That one is, Yeah, that one's tied with
<v Speaker 1>I still won't buy one of forty three percent, and
<v Speaker 1>then much lower thirty percent is I still don't like it,
<v Speaker 1>but I have bought one or more. So uh, there
<v Speaker 1>you go. It seems like, yeah, were there you say
<v Speaker 1>you're with me on that one?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I don't I don't have space for physical games anymore.
<v Speaker 3>Like I have the shelf behind me that's got some
<v Speaker 3>stuff on it, and then I have like a small
<v Speaker 3>little TV stand that's got some stuff, but that's it.
<v Speaker 3>Like I don't have space to keep buying physical games.
<v Speaker 3>So I don't care about key game key cards because
<v Speaker 3>it doesn't affect me, you know what I mean. Like,
<v Speaker 3>I'm not somebody who's buying physical games. I'm upset that
<v Speaker 3>people who like physical games don't have access because game
<v Speaker 3>key cards are like this weird thing that we're doing. However,
<v Speaker 3>I just don't care. I got other things out in
<v Speaker 3>my life I gotta worry about. Yeah, Parker not high
<v Speaker 3>on the list.
<v Speaker 1>And now I'm going to ask for the next pull.
<v Speaker 1>Will surprise Jeff with this one. Are you excited about
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo's twenty twenty six lineup?
<v Speaker 2>So far?
<v Speaker 1>Your options everybody are just yes and no. Okay, let's
<v Speaker 1>do that now, Oh yes, let's do the bomb twelve then, everybody,
<v Speaker 1>this is exciting stuff. This is showing you. I'm gonna
<v Speaker 1>really like you to gainst this because I know for
<v Speaker 1>me personally, this has been a time January of going
<v Speaker 1>back to a lot of older games even games from
<v Speaker 1>last year or beyond. It's been sort of a slow January,
<v Speaker 1>and I have enjoyed that quite a bit, so I'm
<v Speaker 1>curious what everyone else has been getting up to. And
<v Speaker 1>I see here now. Number twelve actually is the Outer
<v Speaker 1>World's two, so still hanging on it seems like it
<v Speaker 1>seems like it's dropping a bit all night. Silk Song
<v Speaker 1>still there at eleven. That was my game of the
<v Speaker 1>year last year. Absolutely loved it. Hadis two at ten.
<v Speaker 1>Those two seem to make a duo of very high
<v Speaker 1>profile indie games from last year. Number number nine is
<v Speaker 1>No Rest for the Wicked. They recently did a four
<v Speaker 1>player co op update for that one, I believe, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>And I think it's even on sale on Steam the
<v Speaker 1>last time I look. So yeah, a lot of people
<v Speaker 1>have been playing that one. Goshpard of me like wants
<v Speaker 1>to play it because I liked Ori so much. But boy,
<v Speaker 1>the guy who rents that studio is.
<v Speaker 3>Just can't stop he shutting the fuck up. Is free, man,
<v Speaker 3>It's so free.
<v Speaker 1>He is insufferable. Ghost so yo te Yeah, it makes
<v Speaker 1>it another big release from last year. But I think
<v Speaker 1>a lot of people are you know, getting to now
<v Speaker 1>or finishing up or spending more time with one that
<v Speaker 1>I still feel bad about not having started. And yet
<v Speaker 1>uh clips clip Scare Expission thirty three. You know obviously
<v Speaker 1>big game last year. People still playing that one. Six
<v Speaker 1>is Arc Knights End Field.
<v Speaker 3>What I think it's a gotcha game?
<v Speaker 1>What is Arc Knight's End Field? Yes, it is.
<v Speaker 3>I don't mean that derogatory.
<v Speaker 1>I think it is.
<v Speaker 3>It is. It's like a is it a gotcha deck Builder?
<v Speaker 2>No?
<v Speaker 3>Not deck builder. That's the other one is the management sim.
<v Speaker 1>I gotcha Victorio. Okay, okay, okay, all right?
<v Speaker 2>Then?
<v Speaker 1>Uh, number five is High Guard, which you know, hey,
<v Speaker 1>that's that's that is a show for it.
<v Speaker 2>I'm curious.
<v Speaker 1>I'll be curious if it's six around next week. Have
<v Speaker 1>you like completely written off High Guard, Jesse, you think
<v Speaker 1>this game has as a shot here or.
<v Speaker 3>I am currently in the midst of reviewing High Guard,
<v Speaker 3>and so I have to play more of it. I
<v Speaker 3>have played some of it because I've been busy with
<v Speaker 3>the different thing. Uh. I like what I've played. It
<v Speaker 3>feels like a good foundation. But that's what it feels like,
<v Speaker 3>which is a foundation for like more so, I don't
<v Speaker 3>know if it's gonna stick around short term, but like
<v Speaker 3>they might feels like a game that's prime for like
<v Speaker 3>in like four months to have like a sick update
<v Speaker 3>that's like, oh, here's all this year's like so much
<v Speaker 3>more and it's like, oh, we we have this really
<v Speaker 3>cool idea and now we've expanded it out. That's what
<v Speaker 3>that feels like.
<v Speaker 1>Do you think it's a game that gets an update
<v Speaker 1>that's just like now here's a more normal battle rayale?
<v Speaker 2>Though, because I at the BET that's part of me.
<v Speaker 1>That's just I don't like this current game mode with
<v Speaker 1>the different phases and I don't know the it feels
<v Speaker 1>a little too structured to me right now.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, it's very rigid in that way where it's like
<v Speaker 3>I wish there was more malleability between the phases where
<v Speaker 3>it's like, Okay, you can do this phase or you
<v Speaker 3>can skip this phase and go straight into the other
<v Speaker 3>one by just like finding the enemy team and just
<v Speaker 3>start fighting them and like be done with it. But
<v Speaker 3>it is weird that it's like two minutes, Okay, now
<v Speaker 3>we're gonna like wait another two minutes and then and
<v Speaker 3>then like we're gonna teleport over here and do this
<v Speaker 3>part of the map and then it's a very weird game.
<v Speaker 1>And for our visual viewers. Look, I didn't make this Listen,
<v Speaker 1>I know high Guards one word don't play me at a.
<v Speaker 1>Number four is Border's Gate three. You know this game
<v Speaker 1>is always being played by a lot of people. I
<v Speaker 1>wonder why it popped off in the Bomb twelve again recently.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know if there's been a sale or some
<v Speaker 1>kind of update or something like that. Yeah, yeah, I
<v Speaker 1>mean it's a good game. I like Borderskate three a lot.
<v Speaker 1>All right, here's our top three. Three is Meo Memories
<v Speaker 1>in Orbit. This is the new Metroid Vina. I know
<v Speaker 1>our own Chuck Toowski likes this one a lot. I
<v Speaker 1>still plan to start it at some point. I am
<v Speaker 1>a big bittroy Venue fan. Have you checked this one
<v Speaker 1>out at all, Jesse?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>I played about the first like five or six hours
<v Speaker 3>of it earlier this month, and I really enjoyed what
<v Speaker 3>I played. It was one of those games where I
<v Speaker 3>started to see, oh, like, I could I see what
<v Speaker 3>this game is gonna start asking of me, like platforming
<v Speaker 3>wise and fighting wise, and I really was interested in
<v Speaker 3>all of that. But I just got sidetracked with other stuff.
<v Speaker 3>So I've have a feeling this game is going to
<v Speaker 3>be the classic end of year. I'm going to say
<v Speaker 3>I want to get back to it, and I never
<v Speaker 3>actually get back around to it. But yeah, in the
<v Speaker 3>class that I am upset that I did not get
<v Speaker 3>back to.
<v Speaker 1>Number two is Deadlock. This is Valves kind of shooter
<v Speaker 1>mobile thing that isn't actually out yet. It's still in
<v Speaker 1>early access.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>People have been talking about this one a lot more
<v Speaker 1>again recently. I believe we're going to be checking it
<v Speaker 1>out on upf later today. Yeah, see what the state
<v Speaker 1>of this one is. I'm excited to play some more
<v Speaker 1>dead Luck for.
<v Speaker 3>Visually one of the coolest aesthetics a game has had
<v Speaker 3>in a long time.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. Yeah, it's a very pretty game. And the number
<v Speaker 1>one's Arc Raiders. People still playing a lot of Arc Raders.
<v Speaker 1>I liked Dark Graders fine when I played it. I
<v Speaker 1>don't personally feel a big pool to go back to it.
<v Speaker 1>Did you become an arc Raiders sick go Jesse.
<v Speaker 3>Our Graiders was that multiplayer game that I played with
<v Speaker 3>my friends for like two weeks when we had time
<v Speaker 3>in between other work responsibilities, and we got really into it.
<v Speaker 3>We had a lot of fun with it. And then
<v Speaker 3>haven't played it since.
<v Speaker 1>All right, everybody is the bomb twelve. These are the
<v Speaker 1>twelve games that you are all playing right now. Thank
<v Speaker 1>you so much for that. And boy, look at that, everybody.
<v Speaker 2>We did it.
<v Speaker 1>We did a game mess mornings. I feel good about that.
<v Speaker 1>Jesse Vitili, thank you so much for hanging out with me.
<v Speaker 1>Anything you want to shout out or promote or talk about,
<v Speaker 1>go for it.
<v Speaker 3>Thank you first of all, thank you for having me.
<v Speaker 3>Oh it's blast. We don't really get We don't really
<v Speaker 3>get to chop it up all that much, so it
<v Speaker 3>was good to us to have a day we own
<v Speaker 3>this Friday.
<v Speaker 1>This is yeah, yeah, it's for us now we've claimed
<v Speaker 1>this for the Italians and whatnot. Sorry grub yeah grub
<v Speaker 1>such a harsh Slavic name.
<v Speaker 2>Probably grub Yeah out of.
<v Speaker 3>Here, but yeah, you can find me in my work
<v Speaker 3>over at a restart dot run. You know, plenty of reviews, features, news,
<v Speaker 3>We got great social social clips if you follow us
<v Speaker 3>on Instagram and TikTok. We got a lot of stuff
<v Speaker 3>going on. Uh, really happy with with what the team
<v Speaker 3>has been up to so far of the new year. Obviously,
<v Speaker 3>you go check out the Giant Bomb and mid Ice
<v Speaker 3>charity stream tonight at six pm Eastern, five pm Central,
<v Speaker 3>and then if you're vibing on Sunday, I think Michael,
<v Speaker 3>him and I will be continuing our Resident Evil six
<v Speaker 3>play through also to support.
<v Speaker 1>The fight against ice fantastic. I want, I want to
<v Speaker 1>check in on that myself for sure. All right, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>so three pm Eastern today is a upf for everybody.
<v Speaker 1>We're checking out Deadlock.
<v Speaker 2>Maybe Overwatch two as well.
<v Speaker 1>We'll see, we'll see just the state of some of
<v Speaker 1>these other these other games now that I'm kind of
<v Speaker 1>thinking about live service shooters again thanks to High Guard
<v Speaker 1>and yes, of course, as Jesse mentioned, the the Ice
<v Speaker 1>Out charity stream with min Max that is tonight at
<v Speaker 1>five pm Central, six pm Eastern. Very excited to see
<v Speaker 1>Dan and Jeff hanging out with mind Max friends and
<v Speaker 1>a bunch of other people doing some great work over there.
<v Speaker 1>All right, thank you so much, everybody. You all have
<v Speaker 1>a fantastic weekend. I will see a seven.
<v Speaker 2>Bye bye,
