We got to the trap, good job of getting rid of it early. The pass that Cayden was was right on the money. They had great spacing, they had people behind it. They did everything right.

The one thing when you catch it, you turn, you face before you put the ball on the ground. And what he did was as he turned, he put the ball on the ground. So now to make that pass, he had to collect the ball. By that time there was hand pressure on the passer. They get the deflection instead of just catching, fighting the pressure waiting for the foul. I mean, it's hard for both of us because with that one play and John Schett said it, sixteen oh pointo turns in the second half, the Connecticut out score, dude, sixteen oh second half eight to two on the glass. First half, dude at fourteen point second chance points. That's where the game was won. And that's what the relentlessness of Yukon just chipping away, chipping away, trying to make a play, and eventually they make four the last five threes.

You know, he gave up the ball, but he was ready when he got it back. But I thought, Hurley, you know, coaches loved to micro manage, and I thought, you know, he might try to call a time out.

I've been in their film session John Shire before a game where they literally go over NBA late game situations and he quizzes his team on what were you thinking there? What was he thinking there?

Speaker 6: Only played one freshman as well. Their old physical, tough, long athletic, can shoot it, share the ball, excellent passing. I mean, like you think about the short of season. I think they won like fifteen to six. I don't know how many they want in a row. They were playing high major games, top twenty, top ten games, and they were treated them like games Dan, I mean, they will win them by twenty points.

I mean, they were just they were just dominating people. Then people settle and you get into the league play. You know, obviously Duke got them, Uh but think at the front court. Dey Mara seven four wings span, Yax, Lennaberg seven four wings span, a three that can shoot the three, pass, make plays, Morris Johnson carves out space. Kaido has been absolutely terrific. You got Gail, you got Burnett, you got me. They've got so many different pieces. But the way the ball moves and the energy the ball has, and then their ability and their length defensively. Man, I'll tell you watching them yesterday was like watching a clinic. Look that watching a highlight tape. You know, you know you're preparing for a game, you have a highlight tape of plays that you want your team to see.

Speaker 2: And I've watched Illinois throughout the year now, not religiously, but I've watched them almost like every seven or ten games, you know, and you know they're big. They got they got the kids from the Balkans. I mean, and I don't know if that's the future. Everybody loves to go, well what is the future? You know, are you going to get those players and bring them in? And everybody else is going to do this, I don't know, but Illinois son of them. Yeah, Illinois is not one of those Cinderella stories. In Illinois is a really really impressive team.

Speaker 6: They got a lot of Viches on your team with a vat not a beat. I mean, they got a lot of itches. I mean, and those guys know how to play. And they're older. I mean, you know Vicus brothers, they're older, Markovic, they're older, Stayakovic they're older, they've been coached hard their whole lives. They're highly skilled, they're about winning, they're about embracing roles. And then you got like bos Wall and Wogler. I mean like Wiler, the way he just the poise he played. He looks like to me and maybe I'm wrong, Jay Bills thinks he's uh Tyrus Halliburton, especially when he set that step back three where he kind of got himself behind the line.

Speaker 6: He's a much taller that logo range, the middle game, the floaters, they're really talented. They're very good passing team. I thought they're poised in the second half was incredibly impressive. I thought they went inside to veitch it back to back and then start out that he never settles, he's just getting. It's kind of the opposite of his dad. Yeah, his dad was like pull up bam, knockdown jumpers. And of course you got to have an obligatory every single game they play.

They can bring Hummer, Cows and Davis you know times off the bench. They're a really good basketball team and a really well conceived and a really cool story because brad Underwood, they got.

Speaker 2: Arizona. You know, they came out of the gate and I go, this is a deep Arizona team when I saw them early in the season, and you know they've they've been great. Wire to wire. What jumps out at you.

Speaker 6: They have eight starters and you think about it. They bring a Delars off the bench, they bring a walk off the bench. You know, Jaydon Bradley's an incredible leader and a great clutch player down a stretch, he makes plays. Burry's one another one of the great freshmen. Again, U can get the spots. He's like a one man fast break. Uh, Crevis does the things around the basket you need to be done. You look at Karl chenkov Is like for the Michigan game, like defensively, they they you know that matchup is going to.

Speaker 7: Be really, really interesting because he can guard absolutely anyone.

Speaker 6: The physicality of the front court and the matchups in the front court in this game is they're going to be absolutely incredible. I mean, it's only way to describe it. It's it's gonna be incredible. This is a NASWEL championship game. This is a game that both teams are going to get up and down. This is a game that's going to be fiercely competitive. Tommy Lloyd, this is calm when when Caesar rough as anyone I've ever seen. I mean, we were there when Iowa State went on fourteen oh run. I grabbed them after the game. I said, Tommy, fourteen oh one, you didn't call time out? He said, uh yeah, I'm not a very smart coach, but they need to sometimes figure stuff out on their own. His poise as a coach is incredible. He deflects that thing. It's about the kids. He's you know, he's a byproduct of Mark Fu But he also does it his own way.

I thought, okay, unless Mike Greenberg and Seth wanted to join us last hour, then I would have done that as well. We could have brought Greeny in. More of your phone calls, as we always do, best and worst of the weekend, and that North Carolina job just kind of lingering there, and I keep wondering, is are we waiting for somebody who's still coaching to go to North Carolina. Now that could still be Billy Donovan who's coaching the Chicago Bulls, because from what I'm told, he is still on their radar. He has not said no. That's what was pointed out to me. He has not said no to that job. But yeah, you're just kind of trying to And then you got the Kansas situation with Bill self. This is what I told you last week. North Carolina doesn't want to lose somebody if somebody's going to take over for Bill's self, so you want to be ahead of that and get your guy instead of the second guy on the list. All we touched on Tiger Woods just a little bit, and he was having a good week because if you go back to Monday, we were talking about, you know, TGL the finals and he's going to show up. He's going to take some swings. Now people talking that maybe he's going to try to play at Augusta. So there was some momentum there. Now, he didn't play well when he took those nine swings, but you know, he's the focal point of TGL. So anytime you can see Tiger play in the ratings probably quadruple just because Tiger was playing in them. Otherwise we're probably not watching, but Tiger's in it. And Rory, you know, those are the headliners here, so he's got this momentum, all right, Tiger getting some swings in. There was a picture of his private jet in Augusta recently that maybe he was going down there, going to walk the course. Maybe he's going to play a little bit there. Maybe Tiger was going to play in Augusta. And then there was Friday afternoon, all of a sudden, you get a report that he's in a car accident. His car rolled over. Well, we know what happened when it rolled over before where he had multiple fractures in his leg. Thought he might lose his leg. We've had moments, We've had incidents. This one felt a little different from the standpoint of It was two in the afternoon going through an area where I think the speed limit have been twenty five and car rolled over, got out of the car on his own, and he took a breathalyiser. He hadn't been drinking, but wasn't going to take a urine test or a blood test. And so they take you into the jail. Sell you have to be there for eight hours. And then you start to look in the mug shop and you go, that doesn't look like somebody who Okay, you haven't been drinking, but you don't have anything else in your body. So this has been a pattern, and this happens. It's weird to say, in fairness to Tiger, but you have all these surgeries. They give you all these meds. I've had many, many, many surgeries, probably ten, and I do my damnest. Knowing my personality, I can't take those things because I know, boy be easy, you know, with my personality, addictive behavior, I could grab that. And I understand that I have had friends who have had back surgeries and all of a sudden, you know, they're crunching percoset.

Speaker 2: His body can look like it's ready to go and play in the NFL. But that face that looks like there's a lot of a lot of things going on with Tiger. This has been going on for quite some time. You're driving, and you know, once again, when you drink or when you do drugs, you don't think that you're impaired or that somebody's gonna notice. Some of the great liars are drinkers, drug addicts. At least they try to lie to you. But Tiger can't lie to himself anymore. People can only say so much or do so much. Maybe his new girlfriend can help him, but you know she's got children. Can you imagine if Tiger's her children and it's in the afternoon in a neighborhood. That's what was. It's sad, But you know he's lucky he hasn't killed somebody himself included. And you're just you're watching this and he's such a powerful brand. Everybody wants to tell Tiger what Tiger wants to hear. You surround yourself with people who are yes people. But when he was going leaving the jail and they have that picture in the suv, he is just a sad, sad person. But he's got to want to help himself. I mean, that's the first you can you can say something to somebody having you know, had a father went to AA. It took a long, long, long time, and I'm proud that he went, but he went at the end of his life, but he did go. You know, you're just trying to get somebody who can connect with him or go with him, because it's tough to do it alone. But you're watching this unfold and this is not the way it's supposed to be. But man, addiction will touch anybody. It does not discriminate. I don't care how much money. People will say, well, why aren't you driving got a driver? Well, sometimes you're hiding stuff that you don't want your driver to know. And that appears to be what's going on. But yes, should he have a driver? Yes? Yeah, pay.

He still brings in a lot of money for a lot of people, and it's almost like they want to keep his image as two thousand and seven the greatest golfer on earth and the illusion that he may golf again someday. It's like his people want to keep that out there, and they go to this TGL thing or they talk about the Masters, and it doesn't feel like anyone around him is worried about Again. We don't know, but if they want to keep the train running, Yes, the business train of Tiger is still huge.

Speaker 2: Yeah, But I don't know what's next for him as a golfer. You know, he still is a brand, but if you're a sponsor, you're gonna stay with him as a golfer. Does he want to try to play on the Senior Tour? Does he want to try to play on the regular tour Masters starts a week from this Thursday, and he's not going to be playing in it. But man, this is where somebody's got to grab him. Hold on, don't let go, because we're gonna we're gonna come in one day and we're gonna be talking about something far more serious with him. Because when I heard that there was a rollover, and I, boy, here we go again. Uh, but he's lucky. He's lucky that luck and run out one moment. If you don't kill yourself, you're going to kill somebody else. Well. Uh, all right, hopefully I didn't sound preachy. You know, I don't have all the answers. I got a lot of questions. But if if these people around him, if you love him, man, you've got to give some hard, hard, hard advice. You're not gonna want to hear it. He's not gonna want to believe it. You know, you may you may run the risk of losing your job or access to Tiger, But you know what, I'd run that risk because I'd hate to be sitting there one day saying why didn't I say something? But he might not be charged with anything. Uh, you know, hire a great lawyer, and uh, but he's guilty. He's guilty of once again driving impaired, bad judgment. I got to give Connecticut credit with the trap and then the pass and then the pass back and then the shot. It was textbook. I know, we'll focus on Duke and the turnover there. What Connecticut did was textbook You trap their point guard with you know, tall guys. You get the tip, you get the turnover. You throw it to the guy who just had a three and is the guy you want to have the ball with the game on the line, and he throws it back. Mullins hasn't been hitting shots. He gets a logo three and that happens in the blink of an eye. But Connecticut deserves a whole lot of credit. I can put blame on Duke, absolutely, but to have that moment happen, Connecticut has to do everything right. They don't foul when I thought they were going to foul. They had missed a free throw.

Homer Smith, recently lost his mom to cancer, became the first player in baseball history to hit a walk off grand slam in his debut with the new team. I thought that was a fantastic story over the weekend outside of basketball stuff. For worst, Purdue had a seven point lead at halftime to it all unraveled a seven zero, eighteen point five run in the second fi Arizona burned the Boilermakers.

Charlie made the son of Dusty May, the Michigan head coach, hitting the three pointer at the end of their game against Tennessee. That's one of my favorite things about college basketball, seeing the walk on and seeing the reaction of the starters and the star players just going crazy. I love that because those guys no offense, are real students and they go with the team and they play, and so happy for them. Todd took mine, but Purdue was no.

Hannah Hidalgo is not a finalist for College Women's Player that she didn't make the top four. I'm shocked by that, and hopefully I'm not biased or anything, but it was shocking to see because if you talk about MVP of a sport or whatever you want to call it, she's it.

I was watching that closing holes there and you could tell, you know, the emotion was going to hit him because he was suffering from PTSD from brain surgery, didn't know if he would play. His wife encouraged him to get back with his former coach, and it was great to see former college basketball player. Man, didn't we have him on a long time ago. I think he played like Division III, Division two but played against Kansas maybe, but yeah, ended up winning. Good for him, wonderful moment. But he you know, he talked about taking it, you know, one day at a time that he's still recovering from this. Yeah.
