Funeral For A Fiend (S19E08)

Four Finger Discount (Simpsons Podcast)

Sideshow Bob is back! This time he may have his most convoluted (and unneccsary) scheme ever to kill Bart. Seriously, the whole first half feels pointless by the end. Luckily we get a Frasier reunion, even though you wouldn't really know it from this. Felt like a wasted opportunity with a guest star (again).

We also discuss eating ribs, buying cheap batteries vs expensive ones, an itneresting Woolworths hack and more.

Plus, Dando tells a story of being hit on by another married woman on the weekend. Enjoy!

Macbeth at one scene seven. Look it up. I shall come on Wikipedia,
load you unwieldy behemoth. Oh dear, sorry, Joe Bob Hoist on
his own bitid it hoist with his own retid Oh get a life. Four
finger discount, dude, welcome to fourthing a discount? Where this we hit
the review episode eight of season nineteen. It is a Fraser reunion, which
is actually pretty cool union because it was the first reunion post the shows finale.
It is funeral for a fiend. I am Dando and I am gud
now viewers of the viewers, listeners. Yeah, well, we've got this
on video as well. You may see us rubbing our hands together. Now,
often this is indication of glee. We're in it for something great,
or is it that it's really cold? We got to keep one another.
I'm in a T shirt, guys in a jumper. Private media. That's
who you work for, right, That is one of my many employ are
getting sponsored money on the side. Oh, we're not doing video content.
I'll wear private media. Pe RaSE, please, I am not that business
savvy. I am He's really not. He's actually not. I am curse
you magic beans. That's what I'm getting paid for by from Dando and corporate.
No, this happens to be the warmest hoodie that I own, and
it's the most comfortable. We all have that one comfortable hoodie that even when
it's dirty, you'll still put it on, as opposed to ones that are
clean and fresh. It might be. Yeah, I mean, I've got
other hoodies that are a little more stylish. Yeah, one might say a
little more or less bland. I mean, I'm a big fan. Just
the gray hoodie looks very nice, I think, but I'm very disappointed that
it's not Country Road. I'm not gonna lie. I know, well,
I do have other items that I took a possession of the shirt. Isn't
they country? Right? I know? We gotta keep myself looking flat?
How is that not their theme? I imagine they've tried, Sure have to
have tried. And the estate of the late great John Denver just said,
what money please? Will they use it at the AFL games for the Brisbane
Lines. So the Brisbane Lines every time they kick a goal, the player
they select a song for the season that plays over the speakers every time they
kick a goal. And Charlie Cameron for the Brisbane Lines has chosen Country Roads.
Whenever he kicks a goal here the whole crowd breaks out in the song.
I think that Country Road, the clothing label has a high opinion of
itself as like, no, no, we want to be known for ourselves.
We don't want to associate ourselves with and we don't want to be associated
with any song or anything like that. When you think of Country Road,
you've been thinking us. You don't be thinking of the song. You don't
be thinking of anything else. You think of us, and you stopped for
the you stole the name of my song. I'm sure there is more than
one meaning of the term country road. Is there? Give me two,
the song and the clothing. That's sort of meaning their brand anyway, it
doesn't matter. Funeral for offend while we wip your heads together because you enjoyed
this episode or night partly but partly because I'm trying to keep warm, although
it is very nice here in the studio. Yeah, I try to keep
it warm here. Not too warm though, because then you sweating like a
peak. Well, yeah, we can't have that. We can't have that.
I do know what we can have. I've got a story before we
get into today. So took the kids to Adventure Park here in Geelong on
the weekend they had their annual winter festival as long as one big adventure park.
Yeah it is, yes, depending on where you go. And we
went there. So it was a grand opening night of their winter festival.
They have it over winter obviously, and it's just Christmas lights basically threat the
place and there's fake snow and toasting marshmallows, winter things. Christmas in June
July. They basically about three years ago they went, we're only making money
every summer. How can we make money the rest of the year. Yes,
if you don't get a white Christmas in Australia, unless, of course
you know no, no, I won't talk about looking at that road,
this could go something like that country right, well play, So I took
the kids to adventure Land to celebrate Christmas park. What did I say,
adventure Park cartman Land? Yes, anyway, So Nikola wanted strawberries covered in
chocolate, and they had lint chocolate. They're covering the strawberries and she's like
lint, yes please. So as opposed to things you normally get Intelong,
which is the strawberries covered in lint. Yes, So she sends me to
go get the strawberries. Actually no, I just decided to get them for
as a surprise while she was watching the kids get their face painted. And
I'm in line and this is woman next to me, and she'd be about
a foot away from me at first, and she's sort of talking to herself
about the menu order going to get. I think she's talking to herself.
She's like, I do you want this? Do we want that? And
she's talking and then she's got gets a bit closer, and I'm thinking,
okay, sure, maybe you're just trying to read something. And she sort
of leans in a little bit, sort of not rests ahead on my shoulder,
kind of like leans into sort of like whisper, and she says to
me, I Am not kidding. She goes, so I eat these and
you eat me later, right, I don't know, And she looked,
she's squealed. She thought I was her husband. Her husband taking three steps
back. Oh my god. She goes, you paid for it. She
ran off, and her husband goes, what she said to you, and
I went, you asked. I'm not repeating it, but yeah, phrase
yourself for a fun evening. Yeah, Oh my goodness, it was just
that Okay, she's getting closer, Okay, she's she's leaning in what she's
doing it and then she just whispers that in my ear, I am very
happy that there's a couple out there keeping the spark alive. Yeah, that's
great. I think her families sons like I do know. Maybe twelve thirteen
is about three steps. He's worrying a home or go through the hedge,
hooodie of all things. I look at that. But she's like, yeah,
so I eat these and you eat me right now? What this reminds
me of a great headline in the satirical newspaper at The Onion, Yeah,
where they had a mother's yeah oh yeah, the only verse of Thetuto that's
the Australian version there. Yeah. Yeah, there's a lot of satirical newspapers
out there, but the Onion is the original and best. And they had
a mother's Day story in which the headline was breakfast in birdserved a mom who
just got eaten out. That's what that reminded me of. The picture is
mum looking very happy, but like Adam, we saw her later on.
So we're doing like the tour of Walker in the lights, like a little
strip. We're just walking on lights either side, blah blah blah, and
what would you know, the one couple out of there is this cheek and
she looks at me and she just sort of like laught at stuff, and
the sort of walks off, and I said to the neck, like that's
her. She was like, do we walk with them? I'm like,
I don't know, don't. We waited about a minute, let him get
ahead, and then we just sort of kept that distance because it's just awkward,
right, And then later she got a head shit did indeed? So
that's a great story. We don't need to talk about Funeral for a Fiend,
No thanks, coming back next week, But Funeral for a Fiend,
I've got a couple of knits to pick with. It hit me. I
just thought we've had some wacky Bob scenarios plots in the past, right Sidcho
Bob plots. This one feels very convoluted and far fetched, to the point
where I went, what was the whole point of the first bit at all?
Besides the fact that they had to link the TV story to the Bob
story because Bob deliberately foiled his own plan at the start just so he could
be arrested. Couldn't you have not just gone to Simpons house with a knife
and got arrested. Why did you have to make an ad buy a venue
create this adre under thensumption that the Simpsons will be watching the TV at that
point in time. If the whole plan at the start was to be foiled,
what was the point of a biger elaborate scheme to get the Simpsons there?
As someone has come up with my fair share of diabolical plans during my
life, I will say that the reason for this is to for twenty few
minutes of running time, and it was purely to connect TVO to Bob.
That's the only reason. Indeed, the first quarter of this episode, well
up to the inciting incident, shall we say, first five or six minutes
here, Yeah, I felt very much just like a very two thousand and
seven and add for TVO. Yeah, And I was like, what was
TiVo again? I mean we never had TIVA, but we didn't have it
in Australia, but we had equivalent of something V. Yeah, it's a
DVR, but it's into a digital video recorder. Is that right? No?
So basically they it's like having it. Yeah, you hear foxtail box
and you can connect the ads. Yes, well, you can fast forward
the ads. I'm pretty sure TVO would. Basically, you could just eliminate
the ad. So, I don't know. We never really had TVO here,
but I'm pretty sure you say cut out ads, and it would just
cut them out for you. But they were fast forwarding, at least they
were. Yeah, so I'm thinking it's just like a digital video recorder and
like, hey, yeah, you can skip the ads. Basically, it's
just a case of yeah, a hard dish drive, like the hardest recorder.
We still yeah, yeah, so you would record them and then watch
them later on. Yeah. So at the time it was groundbreaking because you
don't have to watch ads. Not having to watch ads was a big deal.
In two thousand and seven, it turns out we need them. We
do need them, yes, right there, and we're bad. I only
put one. I only put one out there, not the usual just a
fuck with you, Oh my goodness. Well that's why you're tuned into the
full finger, doesn't it network to get fucked with him? Yes, But
the plot was just very convoluted, and I thought there was no point to
us, I was really not tuning into this episode for the plot, and
if you were, well, more fool you. I mean, look,
it's fine, it's I mean, it's it's convoluted. You're right, But
I get the feeling that the point of a Sideshow Bob episode or anything that
involves the side Show Bob universe is invariably going to be overly complicated because he
prides himself on, I don't know, being the smartest clan in the room
and come out with plans so intricate and you know, so devious that he's
playing five D chess. No one is on his level except everyone's on his
level because he not as smart as he thinks he is. I was kind
of disappointed, as I was touching on earlier. It was the first time
the Fraser cast had reunited since the show had finished. When Cecil first appeared
on The Simpsons, and they played up the Fraser aspect. They even had
the Fraser little little chapter chapter headings, and they had the intro and things
like the music and whatnot, and their banter was very Fraser esque. Right,
So you had John Mahoney, John Mahoney as his dad, but he
wasn't playing the Martin sort of aspect. He was the It's almost like an
older version of Side Show Bob. And I was disappointed by that because David
Hypiers played Cecil, but he played himself as I feel I should have done
the same. I see where you're coming from. I don't care. I
know the people will say, well, they've already done the Fraser bit,
but it wouldn't have mattered didn't keep going with the fra you're adding, yeah,
I mean before you had David Hyde Pierson. So that adds another aspect
to the Phraser bit. Yeah, yeah, John Mahoney, you're putting another
lego blocking It's fantastic. I I'm going to justify it by saying, oh,
yeah, they're creating a side show Bob family here. What's what's the
same to Willia. Yeah, I think it would make sense if they are
all kind of so too bobbish to put it. That's it still could have
been that because Cecil. I guess such a cecils because I think what I
think about Martin and Fraser is that he's kind of a blue collar guy every
day, the opposite of his defeat sons. And that's therein lies the comedy.
It's like, how did I get birth of these two? What's he?
He doesn't talk like that, he doesn't talk like mod? Why did
I do that? What based to it? That was all part of my
DVS planned. I'm playing five bits. I can see why they did it.
But yeah, I think you're right. I think it would have been
better if they'd actually echoed their Fraser characters as opposed to Yeah, because it
didn't sort of really take advantage of John Mahoney. This could have been anybody.
It really could have it. You're right, But it just didn't feel
like it didn't. It wasn't played up like it was a big deal.
I thought it would have been a big deal, like and here's my family
and made it like Fraser rest. I just thought I was just a bit
disappointed with it. I get where you're coming from, and I agree to
some degree. In an ear of The Simpsons where they're constantly repeating the same
jokes over and over again, you thought, why not just repeat the Fraser
bit anyway? And you've got a good actor like John Mahoney, you should
let him cook a little bit more. Yes. Also, apparently Opal's now
a recurring gag on the show two weeks that's right, two weeks in a
row. Yeah, of the same ship. Yeah, with straightmen again,
Straightman and the crowd getting free stuff. I'm going to skip through all the
cheer here, a lot of cheering. Yeah, ah, they enjoyed that
joke. It's like, toss them off. Well, I know, really,
I guess they're sort of taken the mickey. But that they had Oprah
on the show in the early nineties for like a little bit, like a
little segment which wasn't really taking the mickey out of Oprah, was more taken
the mickey out of daytime. Oh so Oprah visited the Simpsons. That was
a little like a two minute little bit, and it was almost like the
Simpsons were just this ridiculous family in Oprah is the normal one going into this
world. Yes, but I just thought, here, oh, we're just
gone with the same gag two weeks in a row. Classic Simpsons. Never
used to do that, No, no, I mean they want they had
to do the tv O thing. Well, they didn't have to do the
t BOTH thing, but they introduced it as the quite un quite inciting incident.
They probably were doing funny at in two thousand and seven the TVO bits
as funny now because if you just say, yeah, fifteen now right,
the concept of tvo're on. Of course we can fast Ford ads. What
are you talking about? It'd be what you give, like, what are
ads? That's literally Alliot's light there. The other day something came up and
then that played and he goes, what's this? We have to watch the
ad? He goes, what's an ad? Well, she just had what's
an ad? I was like, yeah, what is an ad? What
is an ad? It is the oil that fuels capitalism, It keeps those
wheels returned. But that aside, I thought. Kelsey Gramman was once again
fantastic as Bob. Just his dramatic delivery of lines can make even the shittest
joke sound funny. Yeah, he goes all in. I mean, more
power to Kelsey Grammer for yeah, never phoning it in. When he has
a side show Web he seems to really enjoy it is the guy who seems
to really enjoy acting. No, I mean when you see him do like
bits on say thirty Rock or Oh No, shows up in just about anything.
He's long forgotten sitcom back to you. His dramatic turn in the series
Boss. He was actually pretty good in it, Wasn't he in Cheese?
I know he's in Cheers. I'm checking, But yeah, never never really
phones it in. I don't know if he's got the greatest range as an
actor, but he does have certain tools that he uses very well. He's
got that lovely Millflo's voice. I'm sure he's got range. But he just
knows what works, and he knows what people want from him. I guess,
yeah, he's kind of content to stay in his lane. Adam sounds
a great rage. But say the line, Billy, my late uncle Teddy
for Christmas one year gave me the Kelsey Grammar's autobiography. It was called so
Far. I just bought Patrick Stewart's Yeah is it God? Make it so?
Or I can't give another one? Make it so? Yeah? Yeah?
Ten bucks your target for real? Yeah? Clear, it's ten bucks.
There was two left. I thought, guys, he's got this.
I'm sure he's already got it. I do not, but that's all right,
I'll just borrow yours. And you know, because of Kelsey Grammer's voice
and he's bearing and all that, your tend to think, Oh yeah,
so grew up drinking brandy and playing croquet and all this kind of stuff.
He's more like a surfer dude. Yeah, and hann this is really tough
life. I mean a lot of his really tough life. Yeah, a
lot of his siblings and that just untimely ends. Yeah. I think the
back the picture on the back cover was like him with like this rock and
corvette and like a vanity license, like like the Kels or something like to
these something. Right, that's like Will Smith's style. It is not,
Yeah, I mean you're expecting him in the smoking jacket and you know pipe
welcome to Masterpiece Theater. It's more like, let's go cruising. But I
like that aspect. Oh yeah, I mean dichotomy is always interesting. I
guess that's kind of the side show Bob character as well, where you know,
he has the sort of the upper class he likes the wine, but
it's also just a but yeah. Happy to have Kelsey on board, Yeah,
happy to have David Hyde Peers on board, who did his cecil stick
well with Bart That was one of my favorite momes or get the favorite moones,
my favorite. So it's all basically just Cecil and Bob when it comes
to my favorite moments here. But I thought the interaction was cescl and Bart
worked, except what do you think of the line of Bart saying what you're
saying sounds smart, but you're actually stupid? Yeah? Did you ever see
show that thought it was started than? I think that's the kind of crison
that a lot of people, well not a lot of people, but some
people would level against Frasier. Yeah, it's like, okay, yeah for
Thursday Night at NBC. Say, I'm not sure what exactly when it did
or who would which network it add upon, but it's like, yeah,
for a Thursday at sitcom, it's pretty smart. Your level up against something
that's actually smart. Sophisticates swing well, no, I think they're probably on
the same on the same page and all. Yeah, i'd say, so
what do you reckon? Smarter? Oh? Usually when it comes to scripted
television, probably like pressed these stuff on HBO or whatever, Which is what?
Give me an example? I don't know, maybe the Sopranos is smarter
than west Wing. Maybe this is not talking about the viewers or anything like.
I think it's more talking about the people who are signing the checks AT's
say NBC it's like the storytelling is different. Yeah, it's like when it
comes to sitcoms, Fraser is definitely one of the smartest written. Oh yeah,
it's just inger inger, Zinger, zing Zinger. Yeah, but it's
also seemingly because it deals with people who are quote unquote smart and sophisticated,
it has to give that appearance of smart sophisticated, but the same time,
it can't be so smart sophisticated that people go, I can't know what they
don't know what they're fucking talking about. I just can't wait until we do
Fraser, West Wing and Sopranos on TV launch Pop. Well, that's true.
I'll be like improvement. I don't get it. It's like we please
watch some Tim Allenie almost he's more my speed. But I hope I made
my point clearly that it's a show that has to appear smart sophisticated, but
not so smarts fits together that people are turned off by. Well, you
have to understand some It's I always say Trivia Knights. I compared to Trivia
Knights, there have to be some tough questions where you might not get it.
Yeah, but you're gonna be able to answer some of them. Otherwise
you'll leave being annoyed and you never go back. Oh sure, there's a
great movie called Quiz Show. Have you ever heard of this? No made
in the nineteen nineties, directed by Robert Radford and starring like Ray Farnce and
John Taturo. It's about this quiz show. It actually did pretty well,
but it was released in the midst of the show. Yeah yeah, I
mean for a movie that about a quiz show scandal in the nineteen fifties where
it turned that they were feeding answers to this guy who was on it.
It's actually, you know, surprisingly compelling and very very well mate. But
the thing of it is at the end that the scandal has been exposed and
you've got the head of the network or head of the show played my Martins
saying we didn't have to give them the answers. I mean, you know,
we could have just made the questions a little dumber. People, you
know, aren't interested in who's smarter who's not. They just want to watch
the money. They just want to see Yeah I won. So I don't
know why I'm talking about this. I'll just let you go some of the
fund to let you watch them run and you turn around and get back to
it to see if I can actually land the plane. And I think certain
shows are like that. They've got it. You know, you don't necessarily
want it to be smart. You just want to have the appearance of smartness.
Speaking of planes, we're about to record out of you have lost.
That is very lodgepot. That is very correct. Now, hang on,
why didn't I write down we were talking about lost? Oh? Yeah,
because they mentioned on the T boat. Yes, I see unified theory,
unified theory or four fing a discount. I'm sorry I did. I'm overheating
in my hoodie. My brain is boiling. I really like on Wikipedia.
No, do you want Wilding Behemoth or at that moment where it's just you
look at you laptop and go, why aren't you loading? No? I
think if the computers are like people mine mine, particularly in the morning,
it's like Robert, gently turn it on, turn it on, gently,
wake it up with a good rub. No, why are you so slow
to start with pushing all the right buttons? Oh? Control deleted? If
you're asking me about my favorite member, so I'm sure you're about to of
course, you've got side show Bob and Cecil in there as well, but
from my cecil cecil, well tomato tomato, Okay, let's call them cecil
probably cl I. This felt very old school home and me in a way
that I appreciate it. When they're driving to the funeral home or the church
or whatever and Lisa's explaining the whole all interested with the plotinams uh huh okay,
yep, Well that felt very classic and I felt kind of old school
in a way that I appreciate. Killed. Yeah, are you done yet?
Because we've been circling on the funeral home for ten minutes. I thought
that was great, really enjoy that. Some just good word playing there as
well. When Ken Brockman is in the front of the shows the variable who's
Who's who? I need you like that get and also Kelsey Grammer saying call
me slide show Bob, I'll play it. I'll pay that. That was
good actually refect him as slide show Bob does this? All right, that's
all your favorite moments. I'm sure I've got others that we will talk about
as we progress through the episode, but we will. They leapt out at
me. If you're a fan of everything we do here at four Finger Discamp.

Next question, you there eating the beast for now, let's get into some
questions. Trivia questions. Yeah, you gotta you can't be saying questions.
You gotta say trivia Male Bike Now is now at the end of the month
from Matth's based bonus podcast, The Final Friday You hit Me on my Toes?
Yeah yeah, So the Final Friday, which is going to be if
you listen to the free feed tomorrow Friday. Li. So my first question
for you is what were the topics on Opal today? In the front yeah
section, they were Iran goes Nuclear Spring fashions and Opal's Pie Club Pie Club.
What's your favorite kind of pie? Apple, right, it would be
apple. I don't have you saw that? Due just gave me like the
most. You're such a basic bitch. Look that's how it appeared to me.
Like apple Apple. And do you put cream on your apple pie?
I do not have ice cream? Ice cream? Okay, yeah, I
think I put cream. I mean both work, but I think if I
can have warm up a pie with just cream on it. Oh, chef
kiss, chef kiss. My favorite kind of pie, though, is the
classic bow months, which we've never been able to replicate. Did you get
one yesterday after we I did? Yeah, and I just sat that.
I told you, I sat there eating it going this same. It's not
the same. I did not get about me yesterday. No, you didn't
know. I went home and put the chito right. Yeah, you're talking
to you. Tell us all about it. I made some delightful burritos Brita
burto. Yeah, you told us about it. I did delicious, delicious,
A little bit of mustard, uh no, a lot of salsa,
salsa, and homemade guacamal. Just because you like to say salsa, I
like to say suser. What's your first question for me? My first question
is who is Grover hanging out with Oh ah, yeah, because Big Bot's
going to China. Yeah, it's who was it? It's Derek and Jitterjter.
My next question for you is Homer request number Play's from which state Michigan
or better correct? Yes? Uh Sacho Bob gets an opportunity to direct which
movie The Hills Have Eyes three? The Hills Still Have Eyes. Yeah,
I would watch that. I thought that was already a thing. I think
I've already seen it. They had The Hills Have Eyes, The Hills Have
Ice Part two, the originals. Then they did good movies for what they
are. Oh yeah, oh the Hills have I remake in the two thousands,
That's what I meant. Yeah, yeah, sick. There was a
section there where it like the horror franchise, the horror genre was just sort
of revived, where for me it was that Wrong Turn. I loved Wrong
Turn. Now Wrong Turn is the one that has the Hillbillies right, yes,
Yill Billies. And I really enjoyed the Texas Chainsaw reboot. It was
pretty good. Yeah it was. And they got me with that fake footage
because you know it was like twelve year old naive Dan. I was like,
this is the only norm footage of Liver the head and I was like,
fuck, is there somewhere Texas? Yeah, but the hills have eyes
a really good, really good one of those. Piranha has also a great
remakes Rana three D. You love it? Love it? Yes? A
question for you. Actually, that's my final question is where are they?
Where cecil going to be scattering the ashes over the I was going to say
the mountains of France, castles of front, castles of France, that's right.
And they compromise on Spain, which please no one. Yeah, well,
basically what happened was that was very phrase ress banter. So it was
he wanted to go here to the castle of Italy. I want to go
to castle to France. We went to Spain, which satisfied no one.
I have one question, hit me, how much is the sometimes ready battering?
How much? I'm going to say a dollar, it would be three
to three dollars. I did like the dead already. It is now stone
Gutto time. It's my favorite time of the episode, or really is because
I get to say Katy g with her one hundred dollars support that much Kenny

Murphy, as well as Ginger and Pickle. I Specchal thingsuff a little bit
there, but I feel like Ginger Pickle would be she would have been worried
going Where's money through it to the end. Pickle crowing, no sturdy,
young dude, He's growing up and he doesn't care about doesn't Now that's pickle.
Keep listening, Come on, man, anyway, Well, no stone
left uncut, thanks to all those fantastic stone cutters. Yeah, thank you.
Indeed, all right, mister Davis, it's time to get into our
review of Funeral for a Fiend, which originally aired November twenty fifth, two
thousand and seven, production code kab F zero one, written by Michael Price,
directed by our man Rob Oliver, who will be coming on the Forefinger
Discount Network in a number of weeks to have a chat Willie. Now.
Fantastic fun fact. He was the man who designed the DVD covers for The
Simpsons, which I think is a pretty cool claim to fame. I mean,
he's obviously director acclaimed one Emmy's he designed the DVD covers. However,
he did design the box head ones boom, so sir, not a fun
fact. Boo. That man an unfunk fact. And we had Kelsey,
David and John returning for the Frasier reunion as well as Keith Oberman, so
I never know who is this guy Keith Openman. He is a broadcast journalist.
Okay, yeah, because that just was straight over my head and I
thought, I know he's going to be someone US based. I don't care
about this. His TVA story is just not it for me. Yeah,
this is kind of spinning its words all them. Yeah, you know,
we got to the we got to the meat of the thing eventually. No
chalk game. But there is a couch gag. It's a magician walks into
the empty living room and uses his cape to make the couch and the family
appear from thin air. Speaking of magicians, we watched there's a show called
pen and teala Us full Us or something. Yeah, we never heard of
it. We just we kept saying ads for it when we're watching stuff on
foxtail. We thought, let's let's link it. Not bad show. Are
you you aware of pen and Teller before? Ill? Ye? When Nicola
knows, oh is he actually a magician? Is he was on Friends once?
Yeah? They're probably the most famous music magicians of our time. Yes,
yeah, because Copperfields, I wouldn't say he's my time, he's he's
eighties, seventies eighties Where penineala they just they've had a Las Vegas thne for
like twenty years now, right, I reckon? So yeah, but the
show not bad and there's this woman from Australia who has fooled them now six
times in a row with the tricks. I was it, Sophie Monk,
No, it was not, but all the tricks that they put you sort
of watched it, going, ah, you can kind of figure it out
if you really think about it, what they've done there. But then the
osi you did it, and you think, going, how did you do
that? I was flabbergasted. Are you someone who wants to debunk magic tricks?
Are you're just happy to let them have? As a kid, I
used to love the revealing the magician's secrets. I love the idea of debunking
it. Now I just want to just magic and it's it's magic. Yeah,
yeah, I know you've done it somehow. I don't want to know
how you've done it. Same, yeah, because then the magic's gone and
you need the magic. The magic? Does that maggic that the magic?
It's tragic? Yeah. But the family arrive at the store. Never know
what the store was called? Uh circuit circus, that's right here. Did
it have a seal? I can't remember? Maybe now you said that over
a seal balancing the logo on its nose, but it had mos boder new
TV. They're going to have them learn into the cars. You know,
you put on the roof, it falls off, smashes and it's oozing.
It starts oozing. Yeah, and I've never broken a TV. Have you
ever broken a TV? No? I never have. I've seen a friend
throw his place. She control it at the floor, bounced up, smash
the television. At that moment of no one say anything, yeah, we're
now. We just sort of sat there and went ooh. When that happens,
do you start formulating how can I spin this to get you know,
an insurance payout if you broke it yourself? Yeah, well you have to
write, but I don't think you're ever going to get it. No,
no, but you you've got to come up with some someone stole my television,
nothing else, just my television. Well that yeah, that means you've
got to get rid of other stuff as well. Doesn't just hide it for
a while anyway. Yes, that's correct. Not that we advocating she stole
the fine china. They don't have fine china in twenty twenty four. I
think so Nicola's got these wine glasses in the laundry. I think I think
we may have gone for our wedding, which is probably watch she keeps in.
But I said, you've never used these. Why do we have this
box? I'll use them one day. You never will be married for third
years. You're never gonna use them. To use them now my philosophy as
of late, Yeah, okay, being alive is as special occasion as it
gets. I believe this holy start. You know, using all your ship.
I don't mean oh I'm spending all your money. I'm gonna wear that.
That's that's done. Really, what you've got good foes wear them all
the time. That's why you buy them, right, that's correct. Don't
use the use the fancy china, eat a burrito on it. You're in
caves and kick as it's not it's crazy. You want a hot car or
hot love it. You want to want a glass bottom broat break out,
break out, the coffee table. But this is where Moe says, people
are wondering what the hell we're talking about. Going into our most recent episode
of going down to South proper condom use. Yeah, very funny episode,
but so disturbing. Another two thousand and seven sort of gig here watching DVD's
and family vans. No one does this anymore. I remember I've being able
to watch a movie in the car with the DVD TVD TV screen was like
groundbreaking. Yeah, it was like, wow, you're clearly rich. Now
it's just smartphones, iPads. Yeah, people aren't really doing it. Well,
have the wines built into the back of the way, I don't know.
There's absolutely no reason. Now when you have iPads they costs one hundred
fifty hundred dollars. Yeah, it felt kind of dystopian when it first happened.
That like seeing a TV screen in the back of the of the driver's
seat or something so the kids would be I don't know, especially a narrowplane
on the highway. Yeah, it's felt always felt weird to me. But
then you know, I had one friend who had it and it was amazing.
Yeah, it's quite garth from Wayne's world. I fear change, you
do, indeed we all. But he sees big burd in China, won't
grove a be lonely, blah blah blah, not much to that home,
and then ignores all the salespeople. You all a fancy smanchy thing of a
jig's boy We're just going to get a camera, battery and go home.
Interested in the car, Starrea, No thanks, just here for a battery,
big special on camp Cooder's allow one is the battery. Care to make
love, sir? Battery? Battery, battery. This is me. When
I go to any store, I have to decide I'm going there for this.
Don't look sideways, go straight there. But then, invariably, if
you had the situation where it's like, I know exactly what I want.
Oh no, I've got a question, yes, and then you can feel
them like, oh so, now you need this. I've had situations where
I go to kmart or whatever to get something, have a basket in my
hand, and then I've real as have been in there for twenty minutes and
baskets full except for the thing that I went there for. Have you ever
had that? The curse of Ancho? But home is there just to buy
his batteries. He chooses not the ever already, not that sometimes ready,
but the dead already for fifty cents. I'll get a question, are you
cheap when it comes to buying batteries? No? So do big brand ones
actually last longer? I have no idea that's the thing. But I'm very
much I'm a name brand guy. When it comes to batteries. I always
just go to Bunnies and I have like their version of Anko batteries because you
get like a thirty pack for like twelve dollars and even if they don't last
as long, you're getting heat, you're doing the maths. It's like they
can come out ahead with this, but I think maybe slightly. But Nicholas
like, we'll just pay more and then you have to change batteries over so
often. I'm like, leave me alone. Yeah, you and I both
No, No, let my reptile brain do the work. Yeah, yeah,
this is more expensive there. Yes, you and I recently bought new
showing our either our age or just our savvy Blu Ray players. We bought
new Blu Ray. That was the secret. By the way, it was
one about podcast where you had to write in and try and guess what it
was. Did anyone know? One got it right? No one got it
right, because you know we're the members of the Laser Club. Yes,
but we're both born And did you when you got yours? Did it come
with the the remote control with the two batteries on the plastic yes, yes,
And these are no name batteries. These are sawny batteries panaphonic. Yes.
So I'm like, I'm not using them. Oh really, I'm putting
into the side the full laser Blu ray experience. Yeah. No. I
went to the drawer and I broke out my little triple A as the box
ever ends it pretty I bought a backup for sixty five dollars. So you
were saying, yeah, it was eighty five, and it said offer.
I offered him sixty and he's like sixty five, And I was like,
Dell, I love how everyone on eBay thinks they're like the mast negotiations about
five percent. Well, I fell for this on Amazon yesterday, that five
that five dollars offer. It's it's bad shit. I better buy that four
K cone of the Barbarian and said, which I did get? Did you
really? Oh yeah, can't wait? Get the riddle of stealing four k?
Baby? What is best in life? This disc what my world change?
When I realized four k's were ridging free? Correct, I was like,
oh shit, this changes everything? Shit, son, But yes,
I will always upscale my batteries. Okay, so yeah, I've probably got
some some no names lying around still in the plastic liketose items. Well yeah,
well when you sell them on, when inevitably sell your laser blue Rose,
make sure you sell the comes with original batteries as the laser batteries.
Are they laser batteries? They wouldn't it be amazing if they were, though,
Oh yeah everything was his name brand. If it was, that would
be good. But hope it gets sucked into here to buying the TVO for
two dollars so he can get the three battery batteries. But it's also a
two year contract. It's a contracts. That's where they get you. I
my phone now, I've so I used to always want to have to get
the latest phone, upgrade my phone. Whenever my phone contract was up,
you upgrade it right to the lays one. The other day, well what
about three months ago? This is about new one get nod I went,
yes, this FOS still works. What why do I need to upgrade this?
This? His phone is fine? This is yeah. This is the
real indication that you know timers, that you and Time are. I was
like good buddies. I pay seventy five, seventy five dollars a month or
eighty dollars a month for this new phone. I'm like, I'd rather be
keep this one. Only pay thirty dollars a month. That's what I'm doing.
Yeah, I mean you have a phone from two thousand and seven.
Yeah, but I can play snake when everyone wants my hack. Right,
my friend Phil, my best man for my wedding. My men feel I
think you've met Phil before. Maybe anyway, he taught me a hack.
Right. So in Australia, this is up for American in Australia with Woolworths.
Right, the phone bill eble live costs thirty dollars a month. Right,
So with what he does is they buy their phones outright, He and
his wife Ali, Yes, and then they are members of Woolworst where you
get once a month you get a thirty is its off your shop? Right,
that's what they do is twice a month or once a month they do.
He does the big shop. It costs more than three hundred dollars,
gets thirty dollars off. That covers his Wilworst bill, his phone bill.
There's the thing I love about capitalism. It is a game that can be
So he buys my phone outright, His phone services through Woolworths. But because
he saves the thirty dollars off his big shop with the temper cent for being
a wil Worst member, that was his phone bill. So his phone is
essentially his phone contract is free. That makes sense to you, It makes
sense. Yeah, so Wolwors, I'm saying it makes sense. So sign
up to your phone contract through Woolworths, right as Nicholas three Woolworths. So
what she does? It cost her thirty dollars a month to have a phone
contract for Woolworths. Right, we're Woolworst members. Where as a result,
you get once a month ten percent off your shop. So we do the
one big shop. It's three hundred dollars plus you save thirty dollars there.
Now thirty dollars saving is what pays for her Woolworst phone bill. So all
counteract each other, even the pocket a big wool Words. No we're not.
But I just thought you told me this hacked the other week and I
thought that's genius. Nicols like you, I've been doing it for months.
I'm like, ah, I've met on votaphone for years. I was like,
oh shit, exactly, good plan. Yeah. So Basically, Nikola
doesn't pay for her phone contract anymore. She brought her phone out right.
No, no, she let her phone so she's still got the same phone
from a last Vota phone contract. She didn't buy a new one. She's
using her previous phone and she just has a free phone service now because you
save ten per cent with Woolworths. I know it sounds like I'm trying to
shill Woolworths, but does it make sense to you? It does fourthinger discount
for further financial hacks in these tough times. This is my new KFC thing
because KFC fucked me over. I've got to cocky here you are revealing these
hacks. Yeah, so basically, wells with your phone service, save ten
percent of your shop once a month with a big shop. Don't do little
shops. Do one big shop, save thirty dollars and then boom, there
you go. You've saved your phone contract. Take that money and spend it
on KFC. Yeah. I don't care. I love it. But Homer's
got tv O now and he's a two year contract as results, so we
can get in these the batches behind it. He doesn't know why you got
it in the first place. So now he's waiting for Lisa to set up
the tv O TIV has been off for a whole five minutes, which is
a long time in the Simpsons household. And Lisa then shows you can skip
commercials, and when did they ever take commercial? During Itching and scratch?
It goes for thirty seconds? I know, R, that's television. I
guess even by two thousand and seven. Two thousand and seven, we say
two thousand and seven. Then it gets to twenty ten, twenty eleven?
Did you have say twenty eleven or was it twenty eleven? Once you get
for me once I got to do I think once we got out of the
single digits, it was twenty something twenty eleven. Now it's twenty twenty four.
Yeah. Do you call the rollin Emeric Disaster Movie twenty twelve or twenty
twelve? I call it twenty twelve. I call it the After Tomorrow.
Let me sit on that one, for that was just right then. Just
came up with that right the top of the door. But they had the
cuerture of drink it discussion. She fast forwards. Now some of the ads
here we got were fundso yes, mister sparkle I saw mister. Now remember
when Homer had his group, they were like they'd go around Springfield and were
they like rangers or whatever. They wore the green outfits. Oh yeah,
yeah, yeah, yeah, his crew with Mo and whatnot. That there
was their commercial was played doing here as well. I just remember mister spark
just spekful to dirt. Yes he is. Indeed, there is over there
right behind you. It's a spark very very racist down it was that cultural
appropriation or cultural appreciation. Maybe let's go with that then, shall Yes,
but Homer says, I spit on your corpse advertiser support of television, which
is pretty much what it is. It's things like t kill television. It
is. Yeah, I don't know. It was good before it was all
niche fied. Marge says she could really follow the story now without the interruption
of ads, and she's enjoying opal with no ads. Straight man just proposed
vacation. By the way, the itching scratchy in this one. I mean
normally I'm not that bad with me. I know in recent times you've been
like, I'm not sure I want the kids to watch this. Its and
scratchy. It's advance I did not like which one I'm gonna be home here?
Which one was the cat? Again? Itchy? I don't, let's
not, Scratchy thought, I can't. I can't, fuck you said,
you said the cat, right, I'm like this with the rod and Todd.
Yes, as well. I did not like Itchy being brutalized and then
murdered in front of this kitten. Scratchy, Scratchy, itch is the mouse?
You said, who's the cat? Right? Yeah, Scratchy? You
said. I didn't like Itchy being brutalized. Okay, well I didn't.
I didn't like the cat being brutalized. Yeah, it's what she's going.
Okay, but I think if you look at all, if she scratchy cartoons,
they're not for kids. And that's that's the joke, Dando obviously,
but the joke. But I don't think I'd like Eliott and Holly watching these
yet, which makes me feel even older. Like I said, just didn't
like it. I've become my mum here from a Simpsons band. It happen.
It has happened to me. Yeah, But as I said, margin's
enjoying open without having to watch the ads. She skips her all the cheering,
we're now at dinner, actually said she saved lost. She watched all
of Rome in a day like that, and watched two and a half Men
in two and a half minutes. And also they had to choose between Sophie's
choice and Shindler's list. Not a bad joke either. Why is Hollywood producing
so much excellent content? That's how it says. It was hard to Yeah.
I mean, I know it was satire and playing it up and all
that. Well, Hollywood, why are you pretty? Yeah? But I
don't know, I didn't feel like that much of a gaggles. Maybe it
was just the way it was delivered. Marge has a dream now with what
was the guy's name again, the broadcaster Keith album Keith Obman. Yes,
I honestly apologize and don't know anything about the guy, but he's basically saying,
you're terrible for just giving the ads, and now we're gonna have no
money where I can't afford to have twin people look after me and make me
look pretty because I actually look horrible. That gag went on a little bit
too long, it did, It went on two masks too long. And
Marge then agrees the kids think question of why are you watching the ads?
But she's honoring America's advertisers, and they see the ad for West Dubna's world
famous family style riparts, and I thought, that's a long winded, fucking
way to get to this story. Indeed, and also stupid. It makes
no this makes no sense. So Bob has to do all this and just
hope the Simpsons were watching the TV at the right time. He just likes
ornate plots. This was too scheme. This was too ornate for me.
But they sing were going to a grand opening on the way, and so
don't fill up on bread. That's how they get you. And then there's
nobody there that doesn't seem to be anyone here more ripped for me. They're
on any tables or chairs or ripped for me. I see, no girl,
aven't or food caring more ribs for me. Do you like ribs?
I've never eaten them ever in my life. Just the idea of picking meat
off the bone like that just disgusts me. Yeah, but often the meat
is if they're well prepared and will cook. It's just falls falling off.
Yeah, but still, just the idea, it makes it real to me.
It's every once in a while. I mean, like, you know,
would be good now rib. I watched Nicola eight ribs once and it
disgusted me. I was like, you are an animal, she said,
and you're like, no, no, thank you. Sorry. But it's
through under the bus. It's revealed to be to be Bob. It's an
an anagram for Star Show Bob's world famous family style return directing. That was
the joke they went for, that we have to make this a thing.
Yeah, I think so whatever. Then screams because every time it's going to
be a commercial, I'll scream really loudly. Obviously it's commercial. We come
back and slard show Bob has brought visual aids to exp I would have been
doing all this time, which is what he generally does. He explains what
he's been up to. I did like home of being a dumb ass,
well as one mister Douga, I have a complaint. I'll bring you my
family too, a family restaurant. I expect a good quality service. But
they fled to England. He became a chimney brush. They went to Buckingham
Palaces during the usual touristy stuff and they snuck into America via a train with
Canadian riders for the Jimmy Kimus Show or something, and they made fun of
the Jimmy Kimus Show here. I thought, did if Jimmy Kimber was in
two thousand and seven, wasn't here the butt of joke? Well? I
thought he was quite respected? Well, didn't kim will start off on like
The Man Show? It was The Man Show? Yeah, yeah, which
was very lad TV and kind of it's nothing low was common to nominator stuff.
But I don't think any of us would have anticipated that Jimmy Kimmel would
have been maybe the best Jimmy. It felt like the Marri Children for talk
shows. Yeah, it's just let's all drink beers and have women jobbing and
trampoline man? Am I right? Lady? Am I right? Yeah?
Who would have been so that that they would have ended up being like an
Oscar's host for that many years running? He was my favorite. He still
well he's still doing it? Is he still doing kim Show? Okay?
Great? I thought, no, no, no, no, no no,
but he's not doing Tom Kimshaw. He's got that late. Is he
still doing it? I thought? Oh no, I'm thinking of when he
talked about Letterman retiring, and he even did when Leediman retired, tell me
they he put a repeat on because he went at the same time. He
was at the same time with Letterman. So he said, I'm not going
to have a new show tonight. I'm going to be airing the same show.
Do not watch my show. Watch Letterman's final show. Good on him.
Yeah, yeah, pay respect to the king. And you see there's
a photo of him he idolized David Leeddiman as a photo of him wearing a
Letterman Bamba jackie when he was younger. He's like tears up talking about it
and think it's worth watching. I'll check it out. Yeah, definitely check
it out. But he's made the ad now and as a result of making
the ad, he's being offered the directing role for Hills Have Ice three.
The he'll still have ours And then he explains his plot here. So he's
gonna be a laptop and the batter's gonna overheat and explode. The t T
will explode and they'll think that I guess the Simpsons what was our point blued
themselves out. Well, the point was there was no point to this because
he planned to deliberately foil himself silliness. It's stupid. What the fuck is
too much? You wasted three minutes of the episode for nothing on this ship.
But he says Shakespeare. He deliberately got the Shakespeare wrong because he why
though, why would you do this? Do you full time in the episode.
It was just so Kelsey could say some Shakespeare. If it were done
when tis done, then twere best it were done quickly. And that's apparently
not correct. That's from macbethrone. Maybe's written by Shakespeare, right it is?
Yeah, yeah, okay, I thought you were saying it wasn't Shakespeare.
I was like, no, you threw before a thing. I was
like, best not Shakespeare. But then I did like the Clippy here.
It seems youre trying to block the loft and one of I hugged my kids.
Clippy another thing of two thousand and seven. I didn't realize it's still
a thing of two thousand and seven. I never really used Clippy all that
much. Was Clippy just Apple, I don't know. He was always my
friend when I was a kid. You have to add a lot. I
love how they were trying to make computers. This was the early stage of
emotional connection. Good device, it's all part of the grand plan, and
they turn on you. They how they get you. But then Lisa says
it was to a well and he comes back. We're going to check on
nat. As he comes back, checks explodes. The TNT doesn't explode,
though, which I guess makes sense because he wasn't planning to blow it up
anyway. And then he actually hoists them own, but Lisa corrects him yet
another restaurant. I was annoyed by this well in retrospect, I'm just like,
none of this is none of this is necessary. This is wheels spinning.
It is. It's just filler. So Bob gets arrested. It didn't
it didn't feel like. It's not William Spake's Shakespeare. It's filler Shakespeare.
Yeah, it didn't feel like shape. I feel like shaff It didn't feel
like piller when I was watching it. But when the story all unfolds,
this is filler. Yes, It's like when you've gone to a fast food
restaurant and you feel like you're full and satisfied. But a minute, oh,
these are all empty calories. Yeah, nothing at all tasted good,
though it tastes good. Going down, but Bob didn't rest well. Bob
gets arrested as a results. So now the court room is representing himself amidst
that basically he's pleading in Saturday, doesn't he? Because this little boy?
So he introduced his dad, who's a doctor, adopted doctor. Yes,
his mother is a famous Shakespearean actress. Yes, which is where he guess
the Shakespeare stuff from. And but then but basically says, this guy deserves
to fry. Tried to kill me. It's like he does. He's tried
to kill a child several times. But as Bob says, who among us
has not been tormented by this little pest of a boy, including Homer because
he cheats it. You know, I'm not really an un guy. I
don't think i've ever It was a big thing for kids in the ninety so
I feel it's just that generational gap. When did it become a popular game?
Never for me, never for you? But was it was it around
in this like eighties? I'm pretty sure it was was? It has been
around for a very long time. Who knows. Just one of the first
card games. It didn't feel like Ghost Snap, where it felt like you're
playing a genuine car game when you're a kid, I can play this and
I understand the rules, and he felt I felt smart, but you just
you felt like you were playing an actual was a transitional thing. Yeah,
it wasn't just a girl snap go fish, Go fishing Fish. Are you
combining two games and you're combining go fish and it could be something? It
could be Yeah, brought to you by your friends at the full finger discast,
let's do it. I didn't want to use this, but you've left
me no choice. Lesser in everybody panic. They've done this gag before.
Everybody pan. The exact same is that now a catchphrase will be gone.
I don't think so, but he's done it. Yeah three times, I
think now yeah, but everybody panic. I think the thing about catchphrase is
that it has to be a catchy phrase. And this is not the first
time I thought it was funny, and now I'm just like, ah,
now it just feels stale and yeah. So Butt then throws it out the
window and it's revealed here. Supposedly it's his medicine for his heart defect,
which you put up earlier, and Hibbert says that he's dead, and then
guy now it's a newsapot and America has a rep oftorney outlaws into legends after
their death, which I think it's just America, that's just people in general,
right, I think so, But Kelly is ours true but so much
so much of our culture for so long was dictated by America. Yeah,
true, But well Hollywood sort of set the set the stage in a lot
of ways. Who oh do you think that the mafia in some ways certainly,
Yeah, because I mean there was always it was a big one of
the in the in the thirties, the gangster compone. Yeah, yeah,
well who was the actual gangster? Yeah, it's not a fictional character,
no, but I'm talking about just like Outlaws, but they can has always
been said as like a not a hero, but like Robin Hood for example.
Yeah, you always have a lot of gangster movies. Yeah, from
the time they started making movies. But I also had the message chrome does
not pay. So in the end, yeah, it was like, oh
no, is this the end of Rego all that kind of stuff. But
people were tuning in to see the gangster get that come up and say were
coming. They were tuned in to see the gangster, the gangster ship.
I think it was felt anyway with wrestling right during the that's where the classic
baby face, right, So in the eighties, whole Cogan was your baby
face, Drink your milk, take your vitamins, your pure baby face.
And then he became Hollywood Hulk Cogan in the nineties, and all of a
sudden it was cool to like the bad guys. Was that a thing that
happened in the nineties or was that already think in the eighties, or it
was cool to like the bad guys? I think I think everyone's always had
a bit of a soft spot for the bad guy. Okay, so I've
always preferred the bad guys. Darth Vader my favorite whenever it comes to movies,
the bad guys, my man, well, the monster, or even
even the roguish good guy or the anti hero. I mean, when we're
playing Star Wars on Hands on the playground as kids, you know, no
one wanted to be Luke. Everyone to be Hand Really, he's his haunt
solo, that's right. But did anyone want to be Darth Vader or was
like, I don't want to be the bad guy. It's a good point,
I don't want to be Judge. Yeah, Now, twenties later,
I want to be judg It's like it's like becoming an ironic thing of we
were cruel to Jarge. I was like, you have you watched Phantom Menace?
Yeah? He sucks. It's yeah, I mean, all due respect
to Armor, best to play the judge. Yeah, terrible character, unworkable
character character. Yeah, the guy did the best to cool the ship,
saying hell that got through the editing process. I have no idea. Well,
everyone was afraid to say no to George. That's and that's literally what
it was. That's very much the case. Yeah, I mean I get
it, but still, well, what are you gonna do? God,
don't go back in time. We say, tune for a minute by minute
Phantom Menace podcast. No thanks, No, it's like one minute of miss
Mita Sandler. I nearly I need to see Sandler do a Judge I impersonation.
Now, I'm pretty sure we could do that with a farewell signed shore
Bob, your shoes are empty and the stage is dark. Bart stole your
nicroglisser and then your heart in fart And it seems to me you're loyal fans,
Honda, buy this DVD of all your best love sketches on the Crusty
Show. It's full of extra features and deleted scenes like when you fell and
split your pants and we saw your frank can be I don't mean huge,
I couldn't even shoud have been delated scenes. For me, delated scenes were
deleted for a reason. Often the case, I don't mind alternate endings,
but deleted scenes, it doesn't ing you watched. You usually watching going ah,
yeah that was nothing. Yeah, there's a reason why this was deleted.
Yeah, I mean it was too hot for the movie, the uncut
version or whatever. Yeah, But for me, ultimate endings a cook It's
like, oh, that takes the story in the inaction with bloopers as well.
I can't say it was a huge fan of blooper that mind bloopers.
Yeah, but after about a couple of minutes, it's like people make mistakes
that. Yeah, bluepo is other than like you had to be there.
Yeah, sometimes, yeah, I can see that. I mean the best
blooper is I think from Rush Hour too. Oh yeah, where keeps calling
Jackie chan Jackie or keep calling him chan And it's the one where Jackie runs
in with the gun and he says, geez, I said a freeze.
I'm thinking of another one. Okay, yeah, I know the one you're
thinking enough. Yeah, I don Chele is like the man's name is Lee.
Incredibly frustrated, but I just like the work. Geez. I'm pretty
sure. He says, cheers that a freeze. It's fucking great and they're
laughing and he doesn't know why they laughing. That's that's what makes it great.
But also one of the best blueber reels of all time. Yes,
anyway, not for blooper reels. But refuses to be sad. At the
funeral, Homer says, I still can't stand him echoes Church of Jerks.
And then I was, as a fan of Law and Order appreciated this Marge
saying your behavior is heinousus I want to make a mame put on Twitter or
whatever saying who watches Law and Order and thinks of the word whenever crime is
especially heinous, especially especially when a I'm glad you only want to make that
joke every time. We need to grow up. Cecil has a chat hit
the Bark and he talks about the castles of Italy in France and were in
to Spain. Compromises satisfied, but nobody, but says, you talk smart,
but you're actually stupid. He says he's going to be scattering in the
ashes on the castles of France as the way to get back at Bob.
The Millhouses round me shows up with the newspaper. Is that delivery boy?
Now, yeah, I got no idea what that was. Just so they
can have someone saying my feet hurt. That was literally it, because that's
the clue that makes Lisa realize who is So he shows but the paper showing
that he's basically hated by the town. Milhouse says, dads, take me
to the batting cage, is going to teach me to be an umpire,
which nothing, but then leaves him alone, runs off to the funeral home
and just custom Millhouse delivering paper at the Simpson's house. So you're two weeks
due, you have pay. It was weird, I feel episode. He
says my feet are killing me, and then Lista realizes, oh my god,
feet feet killing That's gonna be such a bubbies. That's how she came
to that conclusion. I don't know that she realizes the cast big shoes to
fill. As you remember an episode, you probably remember Crusty gets busted from
season one. That's how they catch such a Bob for framing Krusty because Homer
stood on his foot and he says, our but Crusty a small feet,
he said, got big shoes to fill. If you're a fan of everything

of the casco as Bart was saying, he's he's farewell and his apologic is
going to be cremated. He throws Bart into the coffin and starts cremation process
very slowly, gloating speed. That's right, gloating. I trying to remember
what I liked that because it's just you watch a movie and it's like,
just get it done. What are you gloating for? What are you talking
about it? There's what he did to gloat to you. There's an audience
watching. I love how the Incredibles did that, you know, took the
piss out of that Ba saying, and he started monologuing, yes, listen,
explains on the way this was good, as you were saying earlier.
He don't yet. In Circle of the Funeral over for ten minutes, and
then Bart pretends that he's found a trapdoor doesn't work, and Bob's family arrives,
and Bob turns it from gloating speed. Because of Simpsons arrife as well,
Bob turns from gloating speed to kill him already, and then Homer stops
him by doing what can you remember? His hobo ashes at him, unclaimed
ashes, and this is so they say, they save Bart and Bhomer says
he he's got to get over his fear of coffins. Now that is a
callback to Tennis the Menace. Remember the tennis episode, oh, the one
yeah, with all the tennis players. Yeah, and of all the episodes,
right, this is so bizarre to me. Right, So the kids
said to me yesterday on to put the Simpsons on, I'm not sure.
They picked Tennis the Menace. And then there's this call both at tennis and
I'm like, what are the odds? Incredible? And they loved Tennis.
They thought it was I'm just like, okay, cool, look that they
didn't know. They didn't grow up with the Simpson They have the nostalgia connection
that they just enjoy any episode of the Simpsons. I thought, this is
nice. We need to stub viewing the world through a child's eyes once again.
Definitely, yes so and again know I mentioned Inside Out too on our
on our South Part podcast yesterday as we're recording them. It's worth checking out
because it's basically what it does. It reminds you as classic picks are reminding
you. You know, when you're an adult, you forget to sort of
appreciate the little things like a rock. There's a rock there, the sun's
setting. Just appreciated the clouds, like Ali goes, look at the clouds.
I'm like, yeah, okay, cool, it's fucking incredible clouds.
It's okay to appreciate little shit like that, you know. Oh god,
yeah, No. I had a story but I won't tell. Okay,
but we all grow up, hopefully, lost of us don't unfortunately. But
you know, if you grow up, but you can still be a child
at heart, you know, maintain a child's wonder at the at the wonder
of the world. Yeah. I watched light Year. It's the other the
land. Isn't it a little It's not a kids movie at all? No,
no, over Elliott, but but it is, but it's not Alliott
watched it and I said, did you like? And he goes, yeah,
Normally his super pumped come in the movies. It didn't. I can
tell he's a bit bored. Yeah. It's very it's very dark and gloomy.
And well, certainly the first half, I mean that all that stuff
with I mean spoilers for light Year, but I still don't even really spoilers.
I mean to escape trying to escape from this planet, and you know,
he loses like how many years, like ten four years every time he
does a loop. Yeah. Yeah, so eventually his friend's gone. Yeah
yeah. I thought initially it was like, oh that's actually this is kind
of moving in some ways. But the second half, where he's got the
all new team, one of them is tigaway Tz doing the same old stick.
It's like, that's the same old stick here. Yeah, And I
was like, okay, I'm losing interest in this now. Initially I thought
this isn't too bad, but it sorry to mention The Incredibles twice in like
five minutes. It's like, this should be this should be more like The
Incredibles, but then most movies should. I think light Year will be looked
upon more fondly in like ten years maybe. Yeah, you know it was
good light Yeah that wasn't when you say it'll be looked upon favorably. And
he's like, by me, that's it, Like, what are you talking
about? But basically the bart here by taking out that was the reference to
Tennis miss because in the episode, Bark gets locked in the coffin and home's
watching it on picture and picture. Oh yes, that's trying to get out.
Apparently apparently it was a call back to that. Anyway, gets arrested
and we can say, is you have the right to remain silent, but
I hope you're not because it's a long way to the station, like you
tipchat, Lisa explains that the coffin had room for feet while they by They're
investing all that money for someone who was dead, and Bart says, you
stick like my butt. I was like, who the fuck wrote that?
What was that compared that to back me away eight toys? Whatever the fuck
is what is going on here? The only excuse that I can offer,
the reason that I can offer, is that Bob Bart's nemesis is sober,
both so articulate, so eloquent, and Bart can only reply with just the
most childish school yard burns. Yeah, I guess, but it's still not
funny. It wasn't funny at all. How does it? How's it the
episodes with a celebration party, Bob birth out of the cake, SUTs ken
everybody. It turns out to be a dream the family now or sharing a
sealer there for eighty seven years. I think it is anything like that.
Yes, and they're all playing bridge, a card game of some kinds bridge,
and but Snake hits them with three clubs. The joke's not funny and
the bit is not sufficient. Yes, so one of the weaker Sociobob episodes.
For sure. This was nowhere near the level of the Italian Bob wasn't
even Cape fear. No, that's how I feel about that. Well,
you like capeed like a rat bit, Yeah that's true. But Italian Bob,
but I'm doing my heel turn. Well it's normally on my baby face.
The Italian Bob was really, really fun. I really enjoyed the Italian
it was. Indeed, I'm a little annoyed they didn't bring back Maria Grazzi.
It's probably a complete mispronunciation and butchering of that actor's name. And she
didn't speaking this episode. Did she did not? Or we didn't have?
Did Geno say something? Nothing shame but you did get the reunion of the
core cast. It is to be some of reference to Fraser here. Who
voiced who voiced? What was the name? Dolores? And satellite Tress?
I think yeah, should have Perry Gilpin in, Yeah, God rolls in
or Babe new with and why didn't he have a dog? So just little
things, the little things, just some some sort of Fraser reference. Was
the actor dog named Eddie and the character named Moose? Or was it they
were the other way around? That Eddie was the dog in the ship.
Eddie was the dog and the dog but the dog actor was Moose? But
when did he passed away? For years ago. Now everyone's real sad.
Yeah, I know another another victim, the Herald of Fenton. What do
we learn, Bomber? What did you have for the episode? Is the
Davis? We need commercials, we need television ads? Yes, like right
now, Yes, the commercials. I mean they we had a really good
ecosystem going. Yeah in terms of you know, you didn't necessarily have to
pay attention to them, but they put money. My favorite saying no bucks,
no buck Rogers. This is the thing though, I talked about south
By Studios on to you the other day. I said, Oh, he's
to do is watching it? I want watch an ad Like that's the fucking
same thing. Yeah, I'm make your mind out. I am larger contained
multitudes. It's just I don't mind. I'm so used to that because we
saw sometimes stream things through foxtail and they occasionally put like a thirty second AD
in between whether the normally would be an AD break, And I'm like,
I don't mind this. Yeah, I get where you're coming from. I
mean, admittedly, I do throw down fifteen dollars a month to get YouTube
premium, so no AD. I do that because YouTube, I think for
me, the kids canna be watching something on YouTube, I don't want ads
popping up the fright and center correct. And if I'm listening to music on
YouTube, the most annoying interviews on YouTube is nothing more annoying for me watching
listen to interviews in every five minutes, it's just an ad Ford fucking square
space. True. The thing of it is now with television commercials, I'm
so free to wear television because there's not as many because people are scanning through
them. We've got that dreadful thing where you would think they would have to
make the ads more eye catching and interesting. Said, they're not. They're
so ship there, they're so dull. Yeah, and I find now nicol
and maybe it's just the way they operate the system on at ten plus whatever,
but we stream have you been paying attention? Right? And then they
put the ads on. It's like the saying three ads over and over and
over again. Sometimes they play the same ad back to back. Yes,
and that has a real negative impact for me. I'm thinking, this is
annoying me. I'm not gonna buy if I saw your ad once every commercial
break, maybe, but back to back it's like get away from me,
get away from you? And by the way, guys, the rest of
this episode will be commercial free, fantastic. What did you learn from the
Guy Davis New Name Championship? That's what we learned. Forward your names will
be the current leaderboard stands at this mister Davis, can you remember whos number
one? I don't think it was Philip was a Philip jas number one.
First position is Jared Hornby on nine points, Adamlehouse on eight points and second,
and Clever Kyle and Phil Hawkins equal third on seven points. Take it
away, okay, then one point goes too dearly debuted. Not bad.
That is Talia Enriquez her first point for the season. Welcome back to the
board. Good job Tellia. Two points for Bob the bewilder A man.
Jared Horne is climing further away, now eleven points. At the moment as
it currently stands, he's now on eleven points, three clear of Adam Willhouse,
who's on eight points second, and who gets the three points. We
see what happens when we give three points to six feet blunder. That is
Oh no, it's another newbie to the leaderboard. It is Brian Hughes.
Well, I'm Brian hugh'sy Hughes. Pretty sure Brian is a big fan of
the south Park podcast. I believe. I'm pretty sure he's always saying south
Park. That's that's my that's my thing, that's his jam, that's his
jam. So he's just got three points. Well on, Brian, what
a way to kick off, getting too leaboard three points well, straight out
of the gate. So he's now somewhere three points with David Mott in the
leaderboard, scattered down towards the bottom there, but first position now Jared Hornby
three clear of the on top eleven points, Adam Morehouse on eight and second
and clever Kyle Phil Hawkins on seven points each in third position. I think
film's ever going to get that j back. Well, he's four points behind
now. I feel like this was the first time in a long while he's
never had points. I reckon the bum hoole. The enus enis will be
sort of like what's it called when your you're nervous, you clenched, clenched?
Yeah, but oh shit, I was wondering where you were going this.
I was like, I was like doing the visual of the anus.
I'm like, what does that mean? Butthole and aus a lot. Why,
well, you know you mentioned it eating things later. That's true,
salad fiend. I'll just let's just stop talking about that now. An episode
that you know I probably would have ever review this, reviewed this again.
The kids will eventually at some point, assuming but it was a terrible test.
It was a week episode for Bob in My thing is when you've had
things like Cape Fear and you know, the old ones in the nineties,
it's hard. The Italian Bob was like two seasons ago, and it wasn't
too bad that I pretty good, really enjoyed the Italian Bob. So this
one was just a bit of a step down for sure. But the next
episode of season nineteen we shall be reviewing will be Eternal Moonshine of The Simpson
Mind. Fantastic episode. All right, I remember this it's a Christmas episode,
but it's not Christmas e but I remember the ending being a great payoff.
Well, we're going to be talking about it pretty soon, Yes,
