Celebrating 10 Seasons of Sistas w/KJ Smith-Black & Jordan Coleman
Crystal Renee welcomes KJ Smith Black and Jordan Coleman to celebrate 10 seasons of Tyler Perry’s Sistas and talk about what it’s like playing sisters on screen while building real sisterhood off set. They share how their chemistry came naturally, Jordan’s nerves joining an established cast in season 10 (including a vulnerable first-day scene), and how KJ made space for Jordan to shine. The conversation touches on character growth, family trauma and deflection, the pressure of carrying a show, and how fame can feel isolating even with strong support. They also discuss We Got You Sis community events, handling social media negativity with boundaries and blocking, and why their platforms come with responsibility. KJ plugs her Black Coffee business, and Jordan shares she’s producing an action short film.

Hazel, and this is the Keep It Positive, Sweetish Show. 00:00:10 Speaker 1: Welcome to the Keep It Positive, Sweetish Show, a space where we slow down, reflect and grow through honest conversation. Today's episode feels especially meaningful because I'm sitting down with two women who represent different seasons of becoming yet share powerful bond through storytelling and sisterhood. My sisters kJ Smith Black and Jordan Coleman. First, we have the incredible kJ Smith Black, an actress, executive producer, entrepreneur, and mother who has spent ten seasons bringing the Carriage of Andy Barnes to life. Through her work on Tyler Perry's Sisters and Beyond, she continues to champion stories that center working women, community and purpose, all while stepping into one of the most transformative chapters of her personal life. And alongside her is Jordan Coleman, a rising voice in television and film, now stepping into the world of sisters at Cheyenne Barnes. Jordan brings a fresh energy to the sisterhood on screen, embody a character who is bold. 00:01:09 Speaker 2: And emotionally layered. 00:01:11 Speaker 1: Together, they represent what it looks like when legacy meets new beginnings, when experience and discovery sit at the same table. Today's conversation is less about titles and more about growth, sisterhood, and what it means to keep evolving in a world that is watching. 00:01:25 Speaker 2: Kis Famley, please give a very. 00:01:27 Speaker 1: Warm welcome to my sisters, kJ Smith Black and Jordan Coleman. 00:01:32 Speaker 2: Kis Hanley, please give a very. 00:01:34 Speaker 1: Warm welcome to my sisters, kJ Smith Black and Jordan Coleman. 00:01:39 Speaker 2: Sisters, Hey, welcome back, kJ. I have so many. 00:05:10 Speaker 2: Many make you come alive. 00:05:15 Speaker 3: I'm like this is this is stressful because I love you. Go first that lady and lady she oh yeah, anything, Olivia Deans, She's everything, everything. 00:05:25 Speaker 4: Everything right now, Cardi B Hello, it's me yes, yes, And the last one, caj This might be a little risky. 00:05:36 Speaker 1: For you, but we're gonna ask it anyway. Who would your dream kiss scene be? 00:05:40 Speaker 4: With my husband. 00:05:41 Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, I'm gonna pass. 00:05:43 Speaker 2: That's baby. 00:05:44 Speaker 3: That's such a cop out. I can't say that right, dream kiss. 00:05:51 Speaker 2: There's so many. 00:05:52 Speaker 3: People not that like I want to, but there's just so many people in the world. Okay, I'm gonna go with an actor. Okay, I'm gonna go with my first celebrity crush. Are you ready? It's gonna blow everyone's mind. Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad. Oh really, it was like my I think it was my first celebrity crush. And maybe I don't know. I don't know. Jesse Pinkman, you did something to me. I loved it. 00:06:19 Speaker 2: Maybe that will take you a good choice. 00:06:23 Speaker 1: He's gonna he's definitely gonna see it. 00:06:27 Speaker 2: All right, let's get into it. 00:06:30 Speaker 1: Yes, you two play sisters on sisters on sisters. That's all right, And that is a very layered scenario when you have two sisters are playing. kJ Andy has been there since season one. We're in season ten, and here comes shining, lighting things up everywhere, not just in your house, but everywhere as we've seen as of late. Let's talk about what it's like playing sisters on TV and how you built chemistry to make it seem like it's very authentic from what we see on television. 00:07:04 Speaker 4: I think our chemistry was right right off the bat, Like our vibes are immaculate, Like we can go from talking about finish, she's teaching me about fitness and help, and we can talk about the most mundane silly thing like it's great. Our chemistry was great off the bat. Yeah, it's just a freaking angel, so you know, and I am too, obviously, and so the aesthetic. So yeah, it was. It was very easy. And I am a little sister, so I it was great because I was able to I'm able to see what I actually did to my sister, and so it's actually fun. It's fun to be like, okay, Tyrant, I was terrible. I was terrible, and my mom would let me get away with it. She'd be like, hell, your sister with our homework. And I was like, oh, so you like didn't want to. 00:08:02 Speaker 3: Help like figure it out, because I did like one of those. 00:08:06 Speaker 4: Oh no, no, no, I'm the baby sister. Okay, well I'm not the baby sister anymore, but I was the a very long time. Okay, my baby sister is now fourteen, so. 00:08:16 Speaker 3: Do I remind you of her at all on the show or am I just insane? 00:08:21 Speaker 4: No? You do not rhy remind me. 00:08:22 Speaker 3: I don't. 00:08:24 Speaker 4: I'm a little no, no, no no, you remind me of my former self. That's what I'm trying to tell. 00:08:30 Speaker 2: I see you. 00:08:32 Speaker 4: Merror, Yes, yes, yes, yes, and let's. 00:08:37 Speaker 2: Talk about that. 00:08:37 Speaker 1: It's I feel like it does have a mirror that kind of shows out on camera, but in real life as well. 00:08:42 Speaker 2: How has played a big sister and now younger sister? Do you have siblings? 00:08:47 Speaker 3: Only child? But it's interesting because that's an only child, you are always looking for someone to either look up to or to talk to. So I feel like I was easily gravitated towards you, my big sister on the show because it's interesting. As an actor, there's nothing, there's nothing to pull from it in real life. But what I did pull from was the longing of wanting someone like that in my life, and so that need is so desperate in Cheyenne. Whether people see it or not, I'm just pulling from that. I just don't know how to ask you for anything. I just ruin it. I remember we just posted it on Instagram. I said a little boy likes you and in preschool, they push you down to show you that they like you, and that's literally what I'm doing. 00:09:35 Speaker 4: Yeah it's great, Yeah. 00:09:37 Speaker 2: I know, really good at it. Let's talk about day one. I'm sick. 00:09:40 Speaker 1: You're walking in with this seasoned actress kJ Smith Black who's been dominating and. 00:09:46 Speaker 2: Carrying this show for ten seasons. Yes, seriously, my gosh see that. 00:09:51 Speaker 4: Thank you. 00:09:52 Speaker 1: Yes, I want to know what did that, because I mean, I know I started. Cag's been my stinging partner since day one as well. Yeah, so I know what it was like and what I feel as Fatima walking into Andy Barnes's office on day one, mister Barnes wants to see you in the. 00:10:08 Speaker 3: Room. 00:10:09 Speaker 2: We all were like, yeah, just get the lines out. 00:10:13 Speaker 3: It's always like the easiest line down, and you're. 00:10:15 Speaker 2: Like little black Bob. I remember, yes, girl, I was so nervous. 00:10:20 Speaker 1: But I want to know what was that first day like for you? 00:10:22 Speaker 3: The first day was the biggest day. The first two days were shot in her pet house, which is already like she had you go into the bathroom and it's twelve by twelve picture of her heart and I'm just standing there like this, like, what did I get myself into where am I am. I definitely a little bit of imposture syndrome, and I prepared so much just learning the lines. So it's like, if anything, I'm going to know these lines because coming in on season ten, that's really the hardest part. They've been doing this, they're so used to this. Can I do this? Can I do what they've been doing and can impress them? And I feel like I did it, But it was a blur, like I was literally like this because the first scene, I dropped my robe. That's the first that was the first scene of the day, and that's the first scene in the show. And so it's like one of those things on set, like the intbacy coordinators there. It's more quiet, so there's no hustle and bustle, which helps me as an actor. We're super quiet. I get even more nervous. I was sweating and I barely had clothes on. But I don't know. I did it. And after we got through that, I was like, yeah, I'm supposed to be here, I'm supposed to be this is this is happening. But I was nervous even even when you called me. Obviously, weeks before we even started and you're like, this is gonna be great. Whatever you ever need, you come and you do your thing, don't do not worry about outshining meat, like do you need to do so? I had that in the back of my mind. But sometimes going onto a set that you're just brand new at you just you just you forget everything. 00:11:59 Speaker 4: It's just I didn't want her. I think I think a lot of people have given actresses a bad rap, and I didn't want her to experience what I had experience on some sets where I'm a girls girl. Yes, I have the confidence of a thousand wild stallions, Okay, and I'm and what happens is because I'm so confident genuinely, people think that it's ego and that I'm not rooting for everyone and that I don't want you to be confident. 00:12:34 Speaker 2: I've never gotten from you never. 00:12:35 Speaker 4: No, that's not my se at all. I'm like, I want all of my friends looking pretty. Yeah, everyone, look whatever that is for you. I'm not saying you gotta dress like me or look like me. I'm saying whatever that is for you, your life is shine. I needed to shine. Don't damn it around me because it's like and we're all so confident, you know, so it helped. Yeah, we're all so confident. So it's like I wanted her to know we're all confident, so Lee into that. And I love that she's so confident. I love that she's so beautiful. I love that she's so talented, and I didn't want her to not because she thinks that we're gonna be like you knew, simmer down right right. 00:13:14 Speaker 3: And I appreciate it that. I appreciated that compost so much. I think I probably called my mom right after you had called me, and I was like, she just called me, and this is the things that she said, because not that it's always happened on set, but just in life in general being a woman and being confident. I have caught myself dimming my light so many times to try to make sure other women in the room feel better, and it's like, is not my responsibility work either? I had to. It took a long time. Friendships have ended because of it. You know, you have to walk on eggshells because other women don't know their own self worth, and when you do, it looks like you're doing it on purpose in front of your goods, and I can see it and I am very sympathetic to that, and so then I take on the burden, right, and that is very annoying. 00:14:04 Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. 00:14:05 Speaker 4: When you have empathy, you see people's insecurities and you're like, I'm just not going. 00:14:09 Speaker 3: And that sucks. Insecurities are nothing to play with. They lead to so many different dangerous you know, yes, and people's lives and like, well, I don't want to be part of someone being more insecure. 00:14:20 Speaker 4: But it's self esteem. There's nothing we can do, I know. 00:14:23 Speaker 3: Sometimes you just have to remove yourself from the situation. 00:14:26 Speaker 2: It's better we want. So you definitely came in. You did your thing. I was what you say. 00:14:31 Speaker 1: I wanted to impress them you. I was very impressed. 00:14:33 Speaker 2: I was like their own yes, and you brought a. 00:14:37 Speaker 1: Different dynamic that the show didn't have. It's very which I think. 00:14:42 Speaker 3: Is what I was kind of nervous about, you know, watching the show and just making sure I see all these interviews, like, wow, no one is like my character. I'm gonna be loud, I'm gonna even down to the things I'm wearing. And when I meet Zach for the first time, I'm in this frilly little skirt and I'm like, you want me to do? 00:14:58 Speaker 2: What? 00:14:59 Speaker 3: In these five inch all and everyone's in business suits. It's like, because everyone's just like watching me, Like this new character, she's insane. 00:15:06 Speaker 2: What is she going to do next? 00:15:08 Speaker 3: It's pressure, but it's it's really fun. 00:15:10 Speaker 2: Pressure. 00:15:11 Speaker 1: Yeah, May after ten seasons with this character, which is that's insane to say. Can you believe that we started in two thousand nights? 00:15:21 Speaker 4: God? 00:15:22 Speaker 2: But god, I want to know. 00:15:25 Speaker 1: What does it feel like welcoming new energy into Andy's story? 00:15:29 Speaker 4: It feels amazing, Like you know, Season nine is when my mom was introduced Missus Barnes or miss Waits missus. 00:15:37 Speaker 5: I should know that it would be messed technically because she's well if she's a widow? 00:15:44 Speaker 2: Do they drop it? 00:15:45 Speaker 1: No? 00:15:45 Speaker 2: I think you keep it, keep it okay. 00:15:52 Speaker 3: In the comments, I shouldn't this. 00:15:58 Speaker 4: When they introduced Andy's mom, I immediately went to the writers and we're like, thank you so much, because we didn't We didn't get a lot of backstory. We didn't understand why Andy was the way she is, why she's so rigid, and and then you her mom comes in and breaks all her boundaries. She's like, you need to go to church, and you need to do this and everything you do is not good enough and I pay for this and da da da, And you see why Andy is so structured and why she wants to be who her idea of perfection because her mother put that pressure on her. And so then when we see Cheyenne and it's like, you don't put that pressure on Cheyenne. They never put on the baby. I was a baby. 00:16:39 Speaker 2: They never put it on the baby. 00:16:41 Speaker 4: And it's like, I'm like, and she lets Chyenne do whatever she wants. 00:16:45 Speaker 2: That is your sister. 00:16:46 Speaker 4: That she literally says that that is your sister. I'm gonna I'm gonna share something with you all, and I'm not to tell my business. But my mom and my me and my mom watched the show with my daughter every Wednesday at nine, we watch it like and so we didn't get a chance. I was really sad last night because we gan a chance to watch and I was like, is my baby watching the show like she was sleepy? 00:17:08 Speaker 2: I was like, what the show on for her? 00:17:10 Speaker 5: She needs to see her mama. 00:17:14 Speaker 4: And so my mom and me and my daughter watched the show and my mom said to me, and I'm not making this like this is verbatim, my mom goes, I feel like I'm watching myself. Wow, because she has had these conversations about me with my sister or about my sister with me, and so she literally said that verbone and she said, I feel like I'm watching myself. And so the way that these writers and Courtney Claude, who did Sea, and the way he wrote that not even knowing my mom, not even knowing my sister dynamic. I called Courtney immediately. I said, Bro, you wrote my life on film and you don't even know this part of my life. So I just think it's incredible we're telling stories like that, and for art to imitate life, it's so incredible. And I love my cast. I love her so much. So it's such a great dynamic that we love each other. But I can play mad at her because it's we're acting, you know what I mean. Say So, I love having this new dynamic. I love having this spice in my life, and it's amazing. I think it's what our show needed, and I'm really grateful that season ten, this pinnacle moment is when we have it. 00:18:35 Speaker 1: No, for sure, it is like it's a pinnacle time where even I think everything's also aligning with what's going on in the world. You know, we touched on the season nine and carried on into ten and the things that we're talking about this season. 00:18:48 Speaker 2: It's just it definitely. 00:18:49 Speaker 1: Relates, and I think that's something we can attest to every season. 00:18:52 Speaker 2: When we walk out into the. 00:18:53 Speaker 1: World, they're like, oh my goodness, your character reminds me so much of me. 00:18:57 Speaker 2: I'm like, Fatima reminds you. 00:19:00 Speaker 4: What do you what are you doing? Put the gun but. 00:19:03 Speaker 2: Put it down? 00:19:04 Speaker 4: Please? 00:19:05 Speaker 2: You gotta fight anybody? 00:19:06 Speaker 3: Please? Windows you're busting out this week the tissue, I'm just grabbings and I'm just like, this clueless has no idea. What's I don't care. I just don't care. 00:19:24 Speaker 2: Exactly exactly. 00:19:27 Speaker 1: I want to know with the growth of both of the show and then of your characters, there's gonna be some more growth and expansion for that. 00:19:34 Speaker 2: What do you open How do you stay open to like where the characters go? 00:19:37 Speaker 1: I know, we get this christ We're like sometimes there was plenty of times where I was like, so, how do you like stay in the mindset of you know what, I'm just gonna not judge it. 00:19:50 Speaker 2: I'm allowing Or do you have most like courting me. 00:19:54 Speaker 3: Now, I think the difference that would be between mine versus y'all. You have such a more like established characters, and you have a career. You guys are in relationships. I am coming in as such a lost young woman, So my arc is like I'm not even close to becoming who I am yet. So Courtney's writing for me, and it's a little all over the place in chaotic, and I keep messing up. I'm like, that makes sense because I'm a twenty five year old girl who's trying to understand her sister. I don't really have my mom in the picture anymore because she's sick, and I'm just trying to figure out the world. Yeah, and what does that look like? I don't have a crystal ball. I don't know what's right. I don't know what's wrong. I keep making the wrong decisions. And I feel like a lot of young twenty year old women can probably attest to that, or or older women looking back on how they were in their twenties, Like, I know I am annoying on this show, but I'm like, I know y'all did some of this stuff. Just making some bad decisions, you know, So I'm okay with how Courtney is like writing stuff right now because I'm like, I can tackle that. 00:21:06 Speaker 4: Yeah, that makes sense. 00:21:08 Speaker 3: Yeah, and you have to take yourself out of it, right, the responsibility of an actress. Take Jordan out of it. What would Chyanne do? What is Cheyenne going through? What is she running from? I didn't have to deal with that type of stuff, was Jordan, but Cheyenne. 00:21:19 Speaker 1: Yeah, that was hard for me. Yeah, like taking Crystal out of it. He took me a while to do that. 00:21:25 Speaker 3: I was like, yes, that's my acting coach says all the time. He was like, but Jordan would do. We don't care, Jordan love, We don't care. Just Jordan think it's funny. It doesn't matter what the Cheyenne. 00:21:38 Speaker 4: Yes, we had to I'm telling you, I used to. Tyler was sick of me. Tyler like, just simmer down and then you know what. You know what inspires me to stay open is when someone watches the show and they send me a message or a DM or I see them in person and they say I'm just like this or I made that same decision or I am you, or I've done that before, or that inspires me to tell the story the way it's written, because no one is living like I. I have to take myself out of it because I have, like you said, I have an obligation to share these journeys how they're supposed to be shared. Yes, And when I put myself into it, it's like I can't. I can't do that freely. I can't be It's a disservice to myself, the character, and everyone watching. So when when I think, oh, I know what my character to do, I know how they would do it, I have to kind of just try to pray about it and remove it because there's somebody who's like, no, I am exactly like this. 00:22:51 Speaker 2: Yeah, Because for. 00:22:52 Speaker 4: Years I was like, man, Anny, it's such a smart dummy. It's such a smart dummy, And I'm like, hold on, I'm also sometimes oops. 00:23:08 Speaker 3: I had to. 00:23:09 Speaker 4: Acknowledge my own faults and I wanted to be so self righteous about who I am and like, I would never do that and I will never be put in that situation. I would never do that to a friend, and I would never you know, And it's like, man, Then then I look at my life and I'm like, why could have handled that differently? Why didn't I see that coming. Why was I so naive about this? You know, we educated and it was like, you know, we're still making interesting choices, right. 00:23:38 Speaker 1: I love that, Jordan, your life is taking a new turn. 00:23:42 Speaker 2: This is a new season. 00:23:44 Speaker 1: How have you adjusted to the Sisters world and being pushed out even further because you've been acting, You've been on other shows, but I know this is a different, different beast. 00:23:54 Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. 00:23:55 Speaker 3: I mean going up further and further on the call sheet is no Joe because like everybody else in LA, normally you start off background after right, and I went to a PA. Yeah, and then try to get like a day player role. Then you try to get that reoccurring and then when you get that series regular role, it's to be celebrated of course. And then you're like, oh my gosh, the responsibility just got way bigger. I am now helping carry a show. It is. It was very nerve wracking, but I will say, coming in with this ensemble, you guys, you've made it easy. I want to I want to say the word easy. And like every time I think I have to do something alone or figure out something, I'm like, wait, I can just texts. 00:24:45 Speaker 2: I could just text kJ. 00:24:46 Speaker 5: I could just text because why did you say her first? 00:24:54 Speaker 2: I don't know, but it's. 00:24:59 Speaker 3: It is a really big adjustment. You have more eyes on you. But I feel like everything happened at the right time and it prepared myself to be able to handle all these new responsibilities. I think if I was thrown into it eight years ago, I don't know. I don't know, because there's so much that goes on, not just on screen. There's agents, and there's more people you have to talk to, and there's things that you have to handle behind the scenes that no one is there for. And it actually kind of feels more lonely sometimes because all your friends that are still say doing background or they're still doing day player roles, and it's like I'm here and like I'm still with them, but I can't always talk to some people about certain things. It starts getting fewer where you're at. So having you guys, oh my gosh on and offset because we don't really get to talk that much on set, is it's like wow, but boy, like you guys answer my text within thirty seven. Sometimes I don't feel like I'm ever alone, and I feel like I just have great leadership, great sisterhood, legit, legit. I don't feel alone at all, and that's because it can be. 00:26:12 Speaker 1: Yeah, and you said something that was very poignant. If I had a guy in eight years before you would have mishandled it and then also understand and being mature enough to understand that things come in the proper timing. And then it does feel lonely sometimes, kJ have you dealt with it as your start continuing to rise, and you were like, yes, I feel more isolated this season. 00:26:34 Speaker 4: I feel like this is my isolation. Season really is absolutely I feel like I have to recalibrate. I think, you know, I've been hustling for I don't even want to say the number. Okay, twenty years maybe just grinding and you know, working my butt off, and then you you know, Tyler gives us this opportunity in twenty nineteen, and you know, by that time, my nervous system is still not regulated. I'm still in grime mode, and I still had thoughts that were not that were sabotaging me and not serving me. You know, like, oh, this could go away any moment, or you know this this is fly by night, or this is this opportunity never happen again, or this this show, you know, just thoughts that were not supportive of my dreams. And then of course you get in therapy and you start to dismantle all those things. And now I'm in a family dynamic where I'm having to learn not about career things per se, because I feel very settled in who I am and who I am in my career and our show and what we do and what we love to do. But now it's a whole family thing where I'm like, Okay, you know, now it's leadership of a household, and now it's planning of a legacy and my children and my children's children and understanding what rear and family and friendship looks like. Yeah, because when I was hustling, it was friends all day. It was it was like we were leaning on each other, we had each other's back. And then you're now you have a partner, Now you have a baby. Now you take care of your mother and your grandmother, and so it's kind of like, Okay, I have to manage this part. I have to figure this part out and then I can. And I'm telling my friends, I'm being very transparent. I'm like, hey, I am I'm not in the space right now, but when I am, we're back on it. I love you, checking on you, are you well, how's the family? Happy New Year? You know, things like that. But I can't be as present with that space in my life. And of course I'm gonna work. I love working, Yes, So when it's time to work, it's like, listen, I can. I love what we do. I really love what we do. I think what we do changes the world and I truly believe that, and I feel like we've gotten feedback for that. We talk about the sweeties. You have changed people's lives with this show. You have changed people's lives with this show. Imagine if you had not gone through your own journey of healing and figuring yourself out and sharing it with people. You've inspired me to share more, and I'm like, oh, I can share, yeah, yeah, wow, I can be myself yes, yes, oh okay, You're never getting rid of me now. 00:29:25 Speaker 1: It really comes back, all right, Schyanne, Right, Jordan, Schyenne comes in boldly shaking things up, but she's also searching for something. How did you approach that balance and being the one that's the firecracker and spicing things up, but also showing no, I'm in need of something as well. 00:29:46 Speaker 3: Yeah, I had to sit and think about this character because I've done it a lot when I was younger, especially like usually the people that laughs the most, tells the most jokes, those are the people that people say check on them, because a lot of times they're masking for things, you know, And with Cheyenne, she exudes confidence. Her makeup is beat, her hair is laid, her clothes are slad, but within herself there's it's chaos, you know what I mean. So she tries to perfect her her looks and she tries to pretend like she's okay. And normally those are the people that need the most help. And I think every episode we're going to start seeing the way that she's lashing out on you, the way that she is overly promiscuous with men that she just met, it's all a cry for help. The way that I reached for certain substances to take my mind off of things, those are all signs of someone that is really in need of a sister, family, friends, And that's the beauty of you know, watching the show is obviously we're going to see her transition into a woman hopefully you know of you and because of the sisters on the show. It's going to take a minute because she is a hot mess. But you know that is womanhood, right, and going from a little girl and learning and making mistakes and having people around you. So that's my vision for her. I understand why she's doing what she's doing, and I understand that it's going to change for sure. 00:31:22 Speaker 4: Yeah, just a little arrested development. A little bit of arrested development. She still want. In my opinion, I feel like she's still, like you said, a little girl. But it's like, honey, you're twenty five, right, you should be looking for a job, right, should not? You should not be risk. 00:31:40 Speaker 3: Because you say it to me in the show. You're like, how did we become so different? 00:31:45 Speaker 2: Right? 00:31:45 Speaker 3: But I'm holding trauma with you leaving, and I create more trauma for myself by seeing what you made of yourself because I didn't do it, you know. And I'm jealous when I see the law firm. I'm jealous when I see the pet house, and so I use those words and I attack you rather than celebrating you and just asking for your help and guidance. I'm coming off as snarky and I pretend like I'm okay, and really it's jealousy. 00:32:11 Speaker 2: That's so good. She touched on, how do. 00:32:14 Speaker 1: You so well spoken and eloquent, just smart and wise? 00:32:21 Speaker 3: Keep going much you turn? Thank you? 00:32:36 Speaker 2: What do you say? 00:32:36 Speaker 3: I received that? 00:32:37 Speaker 1: Yeah, because I feel like a lot of people are crying for help. So many people are like the ones who are normally laughing and trying to make everybody else laugh. A lot of comedians are like, yeah, then Kevin Hart did laugh at my pain, like so many people. Funny Marco said he pulled from pain to be funny. You know, so I agree with you on that those are the people need to check on. And a lot of times their outlashes are the things that they say that aren't so kind. 00:33:04 Speaker 2: It's really a cry for help. 00:33:05 Speaker 3: I mean see people like Anthony Bourdain and I mean a bunch of celebrities that gave the world happiness, but they were never happy within themselves. 00:33:13 Speaker 2: That's so true that it just sucks. That was good. 00:33:17 Speaker 1: I hope I know there's somebody that's gonna take something from that. 00:33:20 Speaker 2: That was really good. We have watched you and Andy grow. 00:33:26 Speaker 1: Yes, how did the character evolving affect your personal life and how kJ has evolved. 00:33:32 Speaker 4: Oh man me and Andy, Yeah, that's my girl. I love Andy. I would not have changed if I didn't play Andy. Wow, I would not have changed because I just I was stubborn, I was sucking my ways. I took pride in my trauma. I took pride in my victimhood. I took pride and oh pride, that's my baby's name. You know. I really took the drama of my life, you know, and olive it had become cyclical, so you know, I would create chaos and then I would cry to my friends and they would tell me how great I am and how it's not my fault, and then I wouldn't learn from my mistakes. And Andy forced me to hold myself accountable and in a way that I don't think any of my friends could have. I don't think my mom could have. My mom has told me you need to do this or this or this, and it's like she's my mom. So I didn't listen. And my friends they didn't feel like I was in the space to learn, or they didn't know it themselves, you know, because of course you form bonds where you're at and so in playing Andy, I was just like, girl, you are a hot mess. And then I had to look at myself and be like, girl. 00:34:53 Speaker 2: You are a hot mess. 00:34:56 Speaker 4: I was a hot mess, and I'm not ashamed of it anymore. I'm very I'm I take pride in the person I was because that person made me who I am now exactly, and it was I think Andy every day for changing so much of my life. She's just changed my whole. I mean, without Andy, I wouldn't have met my husband. Yes, I would not have had my baby. I would not have been afforded the opportunity to retire my mother. And so she she's everything. I love her, and she's still teaching me lessons. Playing her is still teaching me lessons to just stay. 00:35:33 Speaker 2: Is that crazy? 00:35:34 Speaker 4: It's crazy. It's crazy, and I'm so grateful. Yes, like, yeah, you talk about how Fatima, Yeah. 00:35:42 Speaker 1: Yes, definitely has changed how I approach relationships. 00:35:46 Speaker 2: You know, she's a hot head. You know, she's like, I'm going to fix it. She's a fixer. 00:35:50 Speaker 1: She's like, so whatever it is, I'm ready riding. And sometimes you gotta just who's gonna ride for me? You know, you gotta like take a step back to just make sure that the people that you're going so hard for, because Fatima goes hard for everybody, you know what I'm saying, even on your your friends who I wasn't really friends on the show, just by association to you. 00:36:09 Speaker 2: I'm like, what they need? 00:36:10 Speaker 1: Okay, what you need, but not saying that like Danny doesn't reciprocate that. But even in real life, when you go hard for everybody else, you have to make. 00:36:17 Speaker 2: Sure that people are pouring into you like that in real life. 00:36:19 Speaker 4: Yeah, And it's so interesting because Fatima Fatima is your like Fatima in some ways, but you know, you don't, You're not you know, you know like that, but but you genuinely ride for people. You have the heart to help people and to make sure their lives are better. Like I if I need, I go to your the first person I'm do you have a dentist like I need? She's like, oh, yeah, this is who I go to. Like, you're just very much. 00:36:54 Speaker 2: That girl gatekeeper. 00:36:56 Speaker 4: You're not a gatekeeper and I'm not a gate keeper. No, you're not, you know. And so it's just kind of like our synergy has just evolved and who we are. It just keeps elevating, and I think our characters because how would we have seen our I don't want to say that we would have never seen it because God, you know, God reveals it. Probably have been trying to tell us for years. 00:37:20 Speaker 1: Let me just get you know what's Here's this mayor right? 00:37:26 Speaker 4: Because this is I have to give you the message and the where you're going to receive it because you didn't receive it x y Z way. 00:37:31 Speaker 2: Come on, Yes, that's so good. I love that. 00:37:35 Speaker 1: If you could gently nudge your character in a different direction this season, what would what direction would you try to push her into? 00:37:43 Speaker 4: I would try to push her into more empathy for her sister. I think. I think she's very close minded in in her idea of what her sister is supposed to be. She wants her to be what she wants to be, and she has to love her where she is. And I think that's a lesson for for a lot of people, is you have to love people where they are, you know. And so I would nudge her into showing her sister more empathy, more grace, really sitting down and talking to her. She hasn't, she hasn't said, what has been going on with you? How has your life been. What's your favorite color? Well, you know what, what nothing besides when are you gonna get a job? Are gonna get out of my house? And yes? And I think it's it's not love. It's not love based. It's very task oriented. It's very gold riven. Because that's it's very parental. And that's not what Chyenne needs from Andy. Syenne needs love, Yeah, that's what she's seeking. And Andy needs love too. If Andy would just if Annie would just sit with her sister, she would see how they're the same. Andy is promiscuous. Andy will meet somebody and be like, we going to poundtown. I mean, you know, yes, Andy, Yeah, maybe she's not taking drugs, but she's gonna sip some wine every night or whenever she's yeah, whenever she's you know, doesn't want to deal with her emotions. She's gonna get lit and drunk, and you know. So I just really think that if she had more empathy for her sister, she'll see herself in her and then she'll want to change, she'll want to grow and shift. Right now, it's very parental. 00:39:30 Speaker 3: It's very you're almost noticing the differences more rather than trying to understand the similarities because you're like, why are we so different? We came from the same house. Well, let's see why. You're like, that's because we came from the same house, you know how the two different conversations. 00:39:46 Speaker 4: And and what you know I can share here though, is there's obviously some trauma between Cheyenne and Andy that no one wants to address. Yes, it's the elephant in the room that no one wants to address. And you know, her mom asked, she said, what happened between you two and Andy deflex. 00:40:07 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:40:09 Speaker 4: Everyone's like, I'm not going to talk about that. 00:40:11 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:40:12 Speaker 4: And instead of her, instead of there them coming together because of the trauma, they just I mean oil and water. So I can't I would love to see that. I would love to see that. And I want us to show what sisterhood means. I have a great sister. I have my two sisters are with my baby right now. Because I was like, I'm I'm going to work, yes, and they're with my baby right now. I have great sisters. And so I'm really happy about this arc, this storyline because I'm like, yes, I want the world to see great sisters and I want everyone to have great sisters like me, you know. Yeah, So you know, I hope we bring that to the world. 00:40:51 Speaker 2: I love that. 00:40:52 Speaker 1: And you talked about something that is very prominent in the black culture, and that's deflection, especially when it comes with trauma. 00:40:59 Speaker 2: And I hope that. I'm not courty, I'm not telling you how to write the next. 00:41:02 Speaker 1: Season, but I hope that there is something that can shift that for the black culture so we can start talking. I know, we therapy has become a thing that we're used to. 00:41:12 Speaker 2: Now we go to. 00:41:13 Speaker 1: Therapy and we're not ashamed of it like we used to be used to be such. 00:41:16 Speaker 2: A stigma behind therapy. 00:41:18 Speaker 1: But I do hope that we can get behind that family trauma that we try to brush under the rug and not address, so that families can start healing. 00:41:26 Speaker 2: Yeah, so I hope that we can also touch on that. 00:41:30 Speaker 3: I agree. 00:41:31 Speaker 2: We're gonna go behind the scenes. Now, this is your first season. 00:41:35 Speaker 1: The show is about sisterhood, but I want to know how you felt sisterhood in real life behind the scenes on Sisters My goodness. 00:41:44 Speaker 3: I mean, I always talk about it from day one when you called me when I booked the role, Like, can I call her now? They're like, not yet, but she said, can I call her now? They're like just wait a second. She's like, I'm calling her. She's kj's right, And it just from there I knew what was going to be fantastic. And then you know, I'm I'm looking at all y'all's instagrams and I'm like, no, I'm not going to press follow yet. 00:42:08 Speaker 2: I don't want to be that person. 00:42:10 Speaker 3: And then we get on set. There's gifts. You guys are welcoming us with open arms, We're dancing, we're singing because I think we did a gallery shoot first. We didn't. Yeah, it was it was fantastic. We weren't. We didn't meet on set. We met in a fun environment where we got to just be laid back a little bit. And that was my first, you know, kind of introduction to you guys. And it was nerve wracking. Being at Tyler Perry Studios is beautiful, massive acres and acres of land, and everything is so professional, and I'm like, I just hope I can fit in. Then Season ten comes out and we're on press tours and we're That was another thing I was almost a little nervous about. I was like, how does this go like, is it just very you know, I get in. If we get into the sprint room, We're like, where'd you get your nails done? What magnesium do you take? And I'm like, yeah, it's like I found my group of people. Because you never know until until you know, how people are gonna be. You took me to a Broadway show. When we left Broadway shows, we had dinner oysters and I never see. 00:43:36 Speaker 4: It's a battle. 00:43:39 Speaker 3: And that got to so much in that time too. We can just talk talking woman stuff, business stuff, health stuff. That's what a sisterhood is about. And to be able to have someone that you can talk to about anything and everything, no judgment. Gosh. I mean, I'm so grateful, totally grateful. I know a lot of women don't get this. So you joining a cast An ensemble that's been going on for ten years. Some people don't even talk on set. It's like I'm here to do you. Hey, what's up? But with you guy? I mean we're in multiple group chats, you know. I was like, I left my foundation. Chris was like, I got you. 00:44:18 Speaker 2: It's my sister. I don't know if. 00:44:22 Speaker 3: Fatima wants me as her sister. 00:44:24 Speaker 2: Right right now? The way you're going. I don't know the next time, it's not gonna be tissue. 00:44:30 Speaker 4: No, No, it's gonna be big. 00:44:31 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:44:32 Speaker 2: Well no, But I. 00:44:35 Speaker 1: Love that there's been your experience seriously, because we take pride in making sure that the energy and the vibes on set are positive and uplifting from I'm talking about from the PA to the top. That we want to make sure that everyone feels love and that we appreciate them because without everybody, they. 00:44:53 Speaker 2: Couldn't go on. 00:44:54 Speaker 1: But to know that you came on and felt that love definitely makes me feel happy. 00:44:58 Speaker 2: Yeah, love complaints amazing, I love it. 00:45:04 Speaker 1: Sisters has an extension called We Got You Sis, and you two recently did a nail salon activation in Atlanta. 00:45:12 Speaker 2: Tell me about that experience. 00:45:14 Speaker 4: Do you want to go worth? 00:45:16 Speaker 3: It was so much fun. My favorite thing is not expecting anything and then just being blown away. To have a whole salon transformed all of our photos. I think where we were set up getting our nails done, it was you. Fatima was just like looking down on us. It was so much funny. Yeah, I was like, oh, I was like, she's here, but my face, everyone's faces. We had cupcakes with our show on it, and we have these beautiful women coming in receiving massages, getting their nails done and just chit chatting. It wasn't like a very upscale It was very like we were just roaming around, we were dancing. People were able to just chat with us take photos. I love it's very behind the curtain type of or do all absolutely, and I love that type of stuff because it really lets the fans know like we're just like you. We're just telling stories exactly, and that's our job. But look at us right here. Let's let's take some selfies. Let's talk. Yeah, that was my favorite part. 00:46:13 Speaker 2: I love that you've done a lot of these. 00:46:15 Speaker 1: So is there a most memorable moment that you can remember from all that we got you sisters, that you've done. 00:46:23 Speaker 2: You know. 00:46:23 Speaker 4: I just love the community. I love that it feels like community. I feel like when we're there, we're not actresses from. 00:46:32 Speaker 2: The show systems. 00:46:33 Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel like we're with our systems. And that's the part that I love the most and that I'm gonna feel every time we do this. Yes, you know, so I feel like that's we got your sis is one of my favorite because we get to reach out and touch people who watch our show, support our show, feel inspired by our show. Who watch who? Because what has happened now is not only do they love Fatima, they love Crystal. Not only do they rock with Andy, they rock with and so and and soon it's going to be not only do they. 00:47:08 Speaker 1: Rock which I am, they rock with Jordan, Like, how I get my life? 00:47:11 Speaker 4: Yes? I told her, I'm saving all my my fitness tips and when I'm going to use them, I don't know, but I'm saving. 00:47:18 Speaker 2: I know what we should do a collapse because I do. 00:47:21 Speaker 4: Did you move today? 00:47:23 Speaker 2: I can move? 00:47:24 Speaker 4: I can and I can take vitamins and made juices. I want to be a part of the group. I want to join. I want to be a party of the. 00:47:36 Speaker 3: Y It writes itself. 00:47:41 Speaker 2: Yeah, but they will they know you beyond the character. 00:47:46 Speaker 4: Yeah, that's my favorite part. And that's that's every week Got You activation that we do in all the different cities. So we're doing one in New York. 00:47:54 Speaker 3: Yes today, Oh my gosh. So many of my family members they're like, oh my gosh, I love today. And I was like, oh, you use her like when you're riding and they're like, no, she's too hard, but I love her, and I'm like, oh no. 00:48:09 Speaker 1: Listen, tunic had me second guess, and why did I click on the butt. 00:48:12 Speaker 3: I'm like, listen, and we're gonna be there lives. I'm like, don't stand up. 00:48:18 Speaker 2: I'm like, I gotta stand standing. 00:48:20 Speaker 3: I'm really gonna need some to have me since there because I know she's gonna she's. 00:48:25 Speaker 5: Gonna exactly take you ready there, you just got on the bike recently. 00:48:31 Speaker 2: I love. 00:48:34 Speaker 4: But see here's the thing. At home, Yes, you get to do what I want, but if I'm tired, I can risk. 00:48:43 Speaker 3: No one's watching, no one's who will never know, never know, they'll never know. 00:48:49 Speaker 2: But here. 00:48:51 Speaker 1: It's a different type of pressure when you're in studios, like I gotta show up and show up. 00:48:55 Speaker 3: Does it almost become easier though, because you're like, I'm gonna look good, Like that's. 00:49:00 Speaker 1: Why I take group classes, like you know what, you hit this like like you hit the hill top of the hills where it's like part and then I feel like it just like. 00:49:09 Speaker 3: When you're. 00:49:11 Speaker 4: You should try. 00:49:15 Speaker 2: She's like, yeah, great, you you can be fun. 00:49:18 Speaker 4: Peop, don't understand I I am healthy for aesthetics only. I don't this is not a lifestyle we got. 00:49:27 Speaker 3: Okay, I'll go work out one day, So maybe you do need to be a part of the did you move today? 00:49:31 Speaker 2: Yes, we'll let you. For sure. 00:49:35 Speaker 3: We're gonna talk. We'll have our people call your people. 00:49:37 Speaker 1: You'll have the supplements and everything that she needs to take after the workout. 00:49:41 Speaker 2: We get the program together. 00:49:42 Speaker 4: Yes, fire, because I can talk for days. 00:49:47 Speaker 3: It'd be great. It's gonna be great, amazing, look like you yes, you already look yes in the legs, like that's that proteins protagrams of protein every day. 00:50:03 Speaker 2: But I love that you count your protein. 00:50:05 Speaker 3: It's the only thing I count, Like, I don't really calorie track, and I well, I'm so ridiculous that I just know how much sugar is in almost everything down with sugar, in a pack of. 00:50:17 Speaker 2: Sugar and pumps of syrup. 00:50:19 Speaker 3: I'm like, yeah, yeah, different granola bars. I can tell you how much is anything on the shelf. 00:50:25 Speaker 2: So then it's just we're gonna partner. We got Yeah, you gotta do it. 00:50:29 Speaker 1: Yeah, you gotta do it, and you're gonna be there with us. 00:50:32 Speaker 2: Yes, we get you. 00:50:33 Speaker 1: But you eat very healthy baby, this woman especially, I. 00:50:39 Speaker 4: Don't have to work. 00:50:41 Speaker 3: But that's half the they said. The abs are made in the kitchen. You can train seven days a week and if you have a horrible diet, I mean, forget it. 00:50:52 Speaker 2: This. I love this. We Got each Other. 00:50:58 Speaker 1: Also with We Got You Sis, we also has conversations where we as black women, like we are now we're seeing each other and we're like, okay, let me help. 00:51:05 Speaker 2: I see some synergy here. We can do different things together. 00:51:08 Speaker 1: But it also brings conversations where women are able to open up, yes, and talk to us about things that they be struggling with or things that they may see in our characters that they identify with and want to talk to you personally. kJ this is probably more for you. Has there ever been a moment where somebody came to you and told you something that really just stayed with. 00:51:25 Speaker 4: You all the time, honestly. I mean, I've had women tell me that they're being physically harmed by someone they love. And you know, when we first started doing the show, there was a scene with Gary and Andy and yes, you remember, like he's holding her, but it crossed the line. There was a line that was crossed to abuse and that resonated with her and she you know, at a live event. She pulled me to the side and was like, hey, you know that really resonated with me because I have a partner, like currently have a partner, and it really challenged me because how do how much do you get involved? Right you have a community, how much do you get involved with matters like that? And so that was a pinnacle moment for me because I had to realize all of this is bigger than me. Yeah, and I think you get in this and everyone's like, oh, I want to be famous. Oh I want to be popular, and I want to have the nice cars, and I want to have the nice things. But are you going to do what's right for the community that supports you. Are you going to offer resources? Are you going to help when people need you? And and that was that was really heavy for me. And since then it's been pretty very frequent and so you know, our obligation is to you kind of got to start deciding how you're going to get involved, because then then you're risking yourself as well. So that was the most. That was the most. That was the first time. I'm not going to say the most because I've heard a lot of stories that really affected me. But that was the first time when I said, oh this is yeah, this is important. What I do is important, and how I respond, how I affect change in this person's life. Yeah, it matters because the words I say next or the number that I give out, or the email or the message or the follow up can change this person's life. And that's when I realized like our power and how to step been to them because I was scared. 00:54:02 Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, I was. 00:54:04 Speaker 4: I was scared. I think I think, you know, we are gifted with something. I think God wouldn't have blessed us with this if we couldn't handle it. But at first it was like this is too much, and I feel like we've all kind of had that moment where we're like, I'm outside, I'm outside, I want to help, I want to do this. And then we go whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. This is this is this is a lot to manage because. 00:54:25 Speaker 3: You can't pour it from an empty cup. 00:54:27 Speaker 4: Yes exactly, but yeah, we we That's why I said we changed lives, you know, when. 00:54:33 Speaker 3: You said, you know, we have the responsibility. As an actor, they say they want to do these things. Well, when you're on a show, and your character is dealing with this whether you like it or not, you become an advocate for whatever is happening. If I'm abusing drugs, well now I have a story to tell and it's going to be wrong and it's going to be dark. Yes, and those people watching and listening are going to now look at me for some of those answers. I actually I had a coworker that other day. I was posted something that we were doing, and he doesn't post a lot on social media, and he just goes, do you ever get tired of like posting everything? Like he wouldn't even say it to me, and he was just like genuinely wondering, like do you just is it exhausting? And I was like no, because the amount of dms, like before the show and it was just health and wellness, the amount of people like I almost committed suicide or I've been struggling with my health and my wellness, And every time I see you post it makes me a reminder to just take things slow, to go to the gym, or just do what I can. Because I'm big on if you got five minutes, do five minutes. You don't have to do the hour you know, and I can't stop posting if I know that it's helping someone, is you know, getting help from that. I feel like now I just have an obligation to keep going. But you just have to continue to make sure you do what you need to do for yourself because I want to continue helping, but you cannot pour from an empty cat. You will be of service. 00:55:59 Speaker 2: Yeah, no, that's so true. 00:56:01 Speaker 1: And I think I got to a point and I feel like you have two where social media did become a lot. Yes, you know, and you may reach this one, you may not, but I know for me, it got to a point where I had to find a balance because it was a lot, and the comments were a lot. 00:56:17 Speaker 2: And I've had conversations with. 00:56:19 Speaker 1: You and with de Val about just the comments and what people say, and I'm just like, oh my goodness, you know, it's just a lot, and I've had to like learn to balance it and take a step back. 00:56:31 Speaker 2: Sometimes. 00:56:31 Speaker 1: I do my September sabbatical where I completely log off, Yeah, just to do a cleanse. 00:56:37 Speaker 2: Because we're so like everything is thrown in our faces. We come to sensitize the things where it's like. 00:56:42 Speaker 1: Every time you turn on your phone, you see in something so graphic that you wouldn't see you know otherwise, yeah unless you were there, you know. Like, but they're like putting everything is online now. 00:56:53 Speaker 2: So I love that you don't feel that way. 00:56:55 Speaker 1: But I definitely have had moments where I'm like, Okay, I got to log off. 00:56:59 Speaker 3: It can be a lot. The comments. Yeah, it's exhausting. It's I say, people just don't have consequences anymore. 00:57:07 Speaker 1: Comment we can talk about that's talked about. You're a newcomer on the show, and we've seen like the comments, and some of them are not so nice, like how has it made Jordan feel. 00:57:20 Speaker 3: I never think of it as a personal attack. I always it goes back to when people are mean, I think that they're projecting or I think they may be unhappy. Because I've never went to social media and wanted to publicly bash someone that I don't know. I think that it's crazy. So if someone is getting to that point, then I would rather just reach out and be like, hey, like, this isn't the space for that. And what I really don't like is when it's you know, other women, are other black women doing it to us? Because I feel like that's the thing that we've been trying to get over for decades and decades. They want us to be against each other, and now we have social media that's almost making it easier for them to just you know, Twitter finger and I just I know, I never want to snap. It's hard. Sometimes if I catch it, I just log out. But I'm just like, hey, like, let's just keep it chill, Let's just keep it nice. And I see you sometimes you're. 00:58:09 Speaker 1: Like you're blocked, and I like to block people because I'm like, I don't that's bad energy. 00:58:17 Speaker 3: Block because I don't want you anywhere around the people that I love, Like, why are you bashing people that are just doing their job? 00:58:24 Speaker 2: And you say that, You're like, this is somebody's job. 00:58:27 Speaker 3: When they're like canceled the show, and I'm like, this is my livelihood. But I'm like, this isn't affecting you in your life, but it would affect mine. And you're putting that energy out there, Let's tone it down a little bit. So it's like, I want to stay on Instagram to keep a positive outlook to people, because the more positive people that leave Instagram, well, now it's just toxic and you have little girls watching. So if you can handle it. It is always nice to try. You just have to know the balance because you can just get into fights on Instagram and then that's just nowhere. 00:59:02 Speaker 2: We do not want that. Yeah, I love that. 00:59:04 Speaker 4: No no, no. 00:59:05 Speaker 1: No, I was just gonna say, I love that you don't take it personally. But I love that you get in the comments sometimes. And because usually when it's about other people you know. 00:59:13 Speaker 3: Don't do that. 00:59:14 Speaker 4: I have to. I have to say something. People just get really out of pocket, and I feel like I feel like I would be doing a disservice to myself to allow people to talk about any of you, especially and me or anybody else like. Do not because because what I have to do, I have to set a standard that this is not acceptable to me. What you do with that information, that's on you. You can go back and forth with yourself because you're blocked, but I have to at least let you know that I will never allow this ever. Yeah, So if you want to continue to do that, please do it. But I'm not going to let you talk about her or you or Mignon or toun day Ye at all on no level. Leave it alone. Stop it because that's not okay. And what you're doing is not okay, and I'm going to let you know it's not okay. You can you may, you may want to go back and forth. I'm not there I want to I'm not going to be there to go back and forth with you because you're also a block. And so to me, that's what I have to do for me because now you know that kJ does not allow that. I'm not going to be kumbaya with you. Like I said, I'm a soldier in the army of the Lord. Okay there listen, like there there are boundaries that I feel like it's necessary to say because what I feel like happens is we're ten seasons. In the first season, I let you slide. You can say whatever you want. Second season, I let you slide. I was everyone was telling me, don't go back and forth, don't say nothing, leave them alone. That's what we've been taught. The third season. Fourth you still you still think you can talk to me any kind of way you want, Like I'm not a human, Like I'm not a person. Like I'm not your sister, your niece, your cousin, your auntie. I mean you you don't know someone who looks like me. Acts like me? Who reminds you of me? You don't know anybody like that? Would you talk to them that way? No, you wouldn't, So why you feel like you can talk to me like that? And I just I just don't accept it. And so I posted something recently. Yeah I lost weight after the baby pretty rapidly. 01:01:33 Speaker 2: But can we give it up for the snap? 01:01:35 Speaker 4: But see that? So a little bit louder, please next time? 01:01:40 Speaker 3: Yeah? 01:01:41 Speaker 4: Yeah, thank you everyone, I know, actually, thank you. That's better. Wow, I lost I ended up losing my baby. Wait, I don't know how it happened. I was burastfeeding and yeah, they that helps too. Yeah, but I just lost it. I told you I work out once a week. Maybe I don't know. Whenever I feel like I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I know it, I know it. It's but what I've learned, and we talked about this. I had hormonal balance issues, yes, and my doctor told me it's better to get at least one extra hour of rest than it is to train for an extra hour this morning. So I started to just rest more, regulate my nervous system more. And that has been helping you. 01:02:36 Speaker 2: I see it. 01:02:37 Speaker 4: Thank you. Iived this semester to all my sisters. You know, we don't have to take on the world. Let's delegate responsibilities if you can, or release some responsibilities if you can. I understand the privilege that we have, so I will never tell anybody that you go hire and assistant or work or whatever. But I posted a video where I felt like I look damn good, and if I post it, I like it, okay, and so it don't matter if you like it. And under the comments, it was like, this is a filter, this is not real. You're way too skinny. This this is it. 01:03:11 Speaker 3: The one in the black dress. 01:03:12 Speaker 4: Yeah, it was like green is like a dark green in. 01:03:14 Speaker 3: The mirror a mirror. Yes, yes, I remember that. 01:03:18 Speaker 4: You know my work. 01:03:20 Speaker 3: I saw the comments. 01:03:21 Speaker 2: It was crazy. 01:03:22 Speaker 4: They went they went a wall. And so what happens is a pylon happens. So one person will write a comment and then there is a pylon. Then everyone goes under that person comment and they write the same comment or get worse. And so I have to nip it in the bud by saying, hey, this is my body. I chose to put this up because I felt confident it doesn't matter how you feel about my body. And also, you don't get to talk about my body, just like I don't get to talk about your body. I would never do that. I would never go to your page and say what to do, what you have on or what I don't. I would never do that to you. And if I do, I'm gassing you up a baby. You wearing that, you're looking good, you look fired, Oh my gosh, beautiful premium, you know. So for me, I'm like, I don't. I'm not gonna allow you to do to me what I would never do. Right, So I was. I kept a cute. I just informed them not to do it again, and how this is not acceptable and you should you should not do this to any other woman. 01:04:28 Speaker 2: Right. 01:04:28 Speaker 3: It's just flat out wrong, it means and not progressive at all, Like what is this helping? It's I can't wrap my head around why people do it, but it's people just get too comfortable and when they see one comment like he said, and it just keeps going, and it keeps going. People hurt people hurt people, which is why I always say, don't take it personal. But at the end of the day, we're human. And when you just keep seeing a negative comment after a negative comment, you almost don't see the positive comments sometimes because the negative comments are meant to stink. That's why they're doing it, and so it's hard just keep seeing them. So I understand why you are letting them know that. It's just it's just I just wish it would stop. 01:05:07 Speaker 4: Yeah, well, now just getting to the point where you know, they know, they know I'm gonna come for them. But if they come for y'all, they know, they're like, kJ, don't play that, don't put this stop, don't do that. kJ gonna get tube, you know, And they know because because we're a supportive group, we have great energy, we have great synergy, We love each other. I don't want any shred of doubt or insecurity to seep in any of our cast, crew, director writer's hit. 01:05:33 Speaker 3: You should be able to post a cast photo without just being torn apart for how we just look for who we are. 01:05:39 Speaker 2: Seriously, it's insane. 01:05:41 Speaker 3: I'm like, what do you want us to post? What is okay with you? At one? Two three? Bad girl? Like you know what I mean, Like, what would you like? Because it seems like I can't do anything right? You know, it's what it feels like. And I'm like I'm like to be an open book and I like to be my authentic self and it doesn't matter. Sometimes you just get kind of torn apart. But we shall persevere, yeah, by hitting the pod. 01:06:09 Speaker 1: Seriously, thank you guys for both opening enough about that, because I know it's something we all deal with, struggle with. 01:06:14 Speaker 2: I'm sure other women watching deal with the same thing. 01:06:16 Speaker 1: But thank you for being open because I know you're a newcomer into this world and we've seen it and I've definitely been blacking people, letting right because we're not doing it. 01:06:25 Speaker 2: We're not doing this. 01:06:25 Speaker 4: It's twenty twenty six, it's really and but also I feel like whatever energy you put on into the world, you're going to get back, you know, and we should be putting out. 01:06:35 Speaker 2: Because it's enough. 01:06:36 Speaker 4: It's enough going on. Let's all keep it cute and happy social media, it should be a happy place, be a social puppy. 01:06:43 Speaker 3: Is TikTok dances? 01:06:44 Speaker 2: Yes, got one for y'all. 01:06:47 Speaker 3: Oh oh yes, TikTok dance for us for a long time. That's only when I know I don't have to you know what. 01:06:56 Speaker 4: I want to do the uptown downtown Uptown. 01:06:58 Speaker 2: Oh you got to teach you that way. 01:07:00 Speaker 4: I don't know, I just like watching it. 01:07:02 Speaker 3: Okay. 01:07:03 Speaker 1: Well, in closing, I want to ask you both. The podcast is called keep You Positive, Sweetie, right, he takes look, but I want to know, in this season of your life, how are. 01:07:13 Speaker 2: You both keeping it positive? 01:07:19 Speaker 3: How am I keeping it positive? Honestly, I think boundaries have allowed me to keep things positive. Saying no to certain things, saying yes to certain things. That allows me to show up happier. I'm not spreading myself thin and like actually choosing what is going to benefit me. It goes back to the being able to pour from a cup that's full. Yes, I become my most toxic and negative self when I just feel like I'm spread that and I'm telling everyone, yes, yes, I can do this for you, Yes, i can do this for you. And then I'm like, I haven't done anything for myself, and I'm not going to be the best person to be like she's a little off today, it's a little negative. I'm like, yeah, because I haven't worked out yet or have a journaled, and so I think the boundaries definitely what about you? 01:08:04 Speaker 4: kJ mine is definitely asking for help. 01:08:08 Speaker 2: I love it. 01:08:09 Speaker 4: It's my favorite. I just I love it and I just discovered it. I discovered it when I was pregnant last year and just always needing help. I just always needed help. And so when I had the baby, I was like, oh, I still need help. And now that I'm kind of still in my groove, I'm like, but I still need help. Yes, and that's okay. So, you know, I said earlier to my assistant this morning, he was like, so he was giving me pointers and everything. You know, this is what's going on. And I said, you know what, I don't I don't have the capacity for that. I said, can you go talk to my husband? I just don't have it. Could you can you take that up with him? I just don't have. 01:08:57 Speaker 2: I don't have the capacity for that. 01:08:59 Speaker 4: Talk to about I'm just I'm just a pretty lady. 01:09:02 Speaker 3: I'm just a girl girl. 01:09:12 Speaker 2: Please. 01:09:15 Speaker 4: The fifth questions did the most on the phone. First of all, I cannot wait, I cannot wait for but there was rather. 01:09:28 Speaker 3: I love it, your sister, I'm here, maybe I can quo alright, don't tell me like that. 01:09:45 Speaker 4: I'm don't worry. 01:09:50 Speaker 1: To tell our audience if there's anything you have coming up that we can support, you know. The sweeties love to support. Yes, kJ do you have anything coming up? But we can get behind They already behind it. 01:10:00 Speaker 3: I love the girl. 01:10:02 Speaker 4: You let me let me look at the camera. This is my camera. I love y'all. Sweeties, y'all, y'all are amazing. I've just I just love y'all and I love how much you love my girl. You know, I mean you can. I'm on all the socials. I I kind of keep it low key. Uh, but we do have a coffee business. My husband and I talk business, so you know we can definitely. We love the support. 01:10:27 Speaker 2: There is it online. 01:10:30 Speaker 4: Everything. 01:10:31 Speaker 2: Yes, it's called it's a black it wasn't. 01:10:35 Speaker 4: Black period coffee period. Yes, it's on shop red Bag right now, shopread bag dot com, which is a platform for black creators with black merchandise and amazing yeah, and products. So that's something amazing. But yeah, right now, I'm keeping all the other endeavors kind of closer to my ch smart. 01:10:54 Speaker 2: Yeah, I love it. We will definitely get our CoFe. 01:10:56 Speaker 1: I don't drink coffee, but make sure you get yourffee, your coffee drinker. My dad loves coffee, so I'll get himself for when he comes to visit my house. 01:11:03 Speaker 3: To get into the machic business. 01:11:05 Speaker 4: I got to get into. Tell me more about. 01:11:07 Speaker 3: It, ceremonial, did you macha? 01:11:10 Speaker 2: Yeah? I love what that? 01:11:16 Speaker 3: Okay, that's fine. You don't. 01:11:22 Speaker 4: Like is this the match? 01:11:24 Speaker 3: Then we drink? 01:11:27 Speaker 4: Where is the coffee? 01:11:28 Speaker 3: Definitely? 01:11:29 Speaker 4: Is this the that we drink? 01:11:30 Speaker 3: I like Macha, but coffee is definitely my speed. I'll have four. 01:11:33 Speaker 2: No literally to breakfast. 01:11:35 Speaker 4: Yes, She's like, can I get some more and some more? No, You're not done for. 01:11:39 Speaker 3: Because I'll get it like a latta and then if I'm like halfway down, I like have them like just filled up with black coffee. I am a girl, Okay, I guess yell our sister. Yeah, but I do like macha. 01:11:48 Speaker 2: Okay, there we go, Ballace, what about you? George? 01:11:51 Speaker 3: You hi, guys, thanks for allowing me to come in. I actually just finally produced my own short film. It's action film, yes, and it's not out yet. It's we're still literally filming, like the title sequence. We wanted to make it small, just really casting directors. I'm trying to become an action star. And then I'm like, this looks really good, like the cameras were using the lenses. Let's make it into something bigger, better. So I can't wait to drop it because hopefully we're going to maybe turn it into something, oh, something bigger. We'll see. But yeah, when I drop that, just just support. 01:12:29 Speaker 2: Support. 01:12:29 Speaker 3: The more people that can share it, get more people's eyes on it. I'm trying to be the next kill Bill out here. 01:12:37 Speaker 2: Speak. Definitely support that. Ladies. Thank you both. I have enjoyed this time. 01:12:45 Speaker 3: It really just feels like I forgot the mics were here sometays because this is how we talk. 01:12:48 Speaker 1: Because absolutely, thank you guys so much. 01:12:52 Speaker 2: I appreciate it. 01:12:53 Speaker 1: You two women standing in completely different seasons, one expanding legacy and stepping into motherhood and the other embracing new beginnings and finding her voice, yet both moving with grace of purpose and authenticity. Watching the dynamic between you reminds us that this sisterhood isn't about being in the same place at the same time. It's about holding space for each other as we grow, evolve, and step into. 01:13:18 Speaker 2: Who we're becoming. 01:13:20 Speaker 1: Your honesty, your presence, and your positivity truly reflects what this space is all about. Thank you both for showing us what it looks like to leave with heart to stay grounded through change and to keep choosing positivity even while you're still becoming kJ and Jordan, I am so grateful for this conversation and thank you for tuning in to this special episode of the Keep It Positive Weety Show.
