How are you feeling? What's you know what I'm saying
first time wall? What's this experience?
Like?
I'm feeling good. I mean it's been the kind of
a weird two three years. You know, I've been like
in and out of the league a little bit, playing
with you know, national team and overseas commitments. So it's
just nice to have a full season in the W
and for it to be going so well.

I was doing a lot of stuff. My first presentation
with Jordan was the K fifty four in Paris, so
that was a dream come true for sure.

What's that like? You know what I'm saying. Obviously, you
know your biggest of the fashion and stuff like that.
To have those two combined obviously with the home country
and then the whole Jordan one, right, so when they
go crazy over there every year? What's that like to
be involved in that?
Like you said, I mean, it's like where fashion meets
sport meets culture meets everything meets street. So it's just
so fun because it's all the things that I love,
and I think Jordan brand like really represents me as
a person and what I like.
So just lucky that it kind of worked out that way.

I actually do like the same two style like pairs
like shoes, and then I'll switch up the colors as
much as I can. And Jordan has made me some
pees which have been I love so sometimes I wear
my pee so much that I get sick of them.
And then so I tried to go back to the ring.
Stuff is flexing out it all the time.
I loved it. I loved it to the others man
for sure.

We talk about a high school legend, you know what
I'm saying, Growing up Arena? What was that like? What
was the hoops scene out like there out there?
It was like the tumbleweed honestly, But honestly it was
it was like it's a small town and everyone knows everybody.
And then my dad had an academy that I grew
up playing in, but I would go to like the
Bay Area a lot, you know, a bit more competition
and exposure. But it was cool because you know, a
lot of my best friends to this day are people
I grew up playing against and playing with. So the
basketball community is small, but I'm trying to, you know,
give back and help it grow a little bit right now.
Definitely like you play anyone in high school that we
would know that. It was like, yeah, I met my
match a little bit, not.
Necessarily in Renal. I mean when I started playing in Cali,
maybe a little bit. I started playing against like like Jordan, Canada,
a lot and buildings. I was playing against them all
the time. But I'm too Yeah they're my generation. I
think I played against Kelsey a little bit, but not
necessarily Reno.
I meant, no.
Disrespect, not a small town, no respect to Reno.
You understand yourself. You was like that, we look at
where you're at now, your journey.
You was killing the.
Hospital, for sure, No wrong with for sure.
I always give ahead a little bit too much with this,
But you know what I'm saying, you have in a
relationship with like the Brian family, So them coming out
to your high school games and stuff like that, Like
what's that like when you like, all.
Right, I made it now they come to watch me play.
I mean that was.
A full circle moment for sure, Like and then getting
to work out with them and like literally learning from
the best ever to do it was was insane and
like it's it's a memory that I'm just so.
Lucky that I have.
And what's a Kobe workout like? Because we always somebody
you know what I'm saying. At first in the gym
before everybody else was three in the morning.
It wasn't.
But I asked him, I was like, what do you
do like with your day now that you're done playing?
Like what is a normal Kobe day?
He's like, I still woke up before workout and then
I drive the girl's squad, make breakfast. Like he's just
still very disciplined in just his day of being a dad,
which was crazy.
Yeah, But the workout, it was a lot of reps.
I remember he would rep everything like twenty times until
you like did it perfectly, and then we would go
on to the next thing.
That's one thing that like stuck out about his.
Workout for me, Yeah, that was that's not my workout.

Have you playing against the guys growing up?
Yeah?
I played against the boys all the time. My uncle
he ran the boys side at the academy, and I
actually played growing up actually, like probably primary school, middle school.
I was mostly just playing on like the boys team,
to be honest.
Yeah, all right, so that's how you your skills up,
for sure, you think playing with the guys.
I think it did. It was a bit more competitive,
a little bit more physical. More physical.
Now the defense makes sense now, yeah, yeah, I get it,
it makes sense now.
The fouls, Yeah, already you go on the black. Yeah,
somebody's going the police.
She's going for a record.
Your bang is going up, she unlimited.
Sure. Obviously you go crazy in high school and then
now it's tiying to make that college decision. You know
what I'm saying. What's that like for you? Because obviously
everybody wanted you to pull up mm hmm.
Yeah, that's ternalizing the questions. No, no, nothing like that.
I think it was like once Yukon started recruiting me,
I was like, I'm.
Going to Yukon.
Yeah, well, I mean having Geno come to my game
the first time was wild. It was actually crazy is
the first time they came to watch me play. The
assistant Shay Ralph came to Reno to watch me, and
the next day I told my freaking a c O
what The next morning I tore my a CEO. So
something told me like this is destiny that like Yukon
saw me play like right before I was hurt, and
I was like, they got a chance to see me
and recruit me and get to know them. But I
was like divine timing.
I think I couldn't imagine emotional high and low like
that back to back, like are you can here?
And then you have an injury? Damn what?
I was a junior and then I redid it my
senior year.
Two years in crazy.
It wasn't fun.
But luckily Yukon got a chance to like check me
out before, so it still worked out. And Yukon was like,
come get the surgery with us, can rehab with us.
So like what is that like though, like I had
surgery before, but like doing it back to back years.
Do you get to a point where it's just like, man,
I don't know if I'm gonna keep doing this.
When I found out that I needed the second surgery,
I like I broke down.
I was, oh, that was tough. The first one.
I was like, Okay, I'm still young. I'm gonna get
through it. It's fine, Like I'm a junior. And then
I found out about my senior year. I was like,
I have to do that all over again, like it
was an exact calendar year.
Man, damn.
Yeah, it was like January, and then I had to
do it again in January. So that was tough.
But once I got to Yukon, because I went to
Yukon like three or four months later, it was it
was cool.
I was like, all right, I'm in something. Now I'm
in a new environment.
So yeah, people don't know.
But after that day said the first two or three
weeks for like years, Yeah.
He tour, he tore his he didn't go to the hospital.
And I wasn't. I wouldn't aleute either, No, I definitely couldn't.
I had to wait. I tour.
It was walk it off.
I'm gonna say, it's crazy, you know what I'm saying
I had insurance, but wasn't the cold insure I in December? Yeah,
I thrown myself in December the second week in December.
It wasn't two weeks Christmas. What's after that?
New Years? So all the doctors like, yeah, I'm working
with my family.
So I didn't until after New Year, so I would
definitely quit walking around the city.
Some people don't ever get it done though, Like some
people just live their lives like, no, we have no nothing.
It was like people non athletes like but still like yeah,
I know some people less.
Yeah, It's like, OK, now, go get it fixed.
Well you're a man. Tell what else you battled.
Your body at least my problem if a mergency break out,
you are in trouble. No running, it's no, you ain't
got no side to side, no ducking at all.

So was defense always your primary thing or was you
like a scorer first both?
I think like growing up, I was just a lot
more athletic I think than everyone. It wasn't even about
like the basketball at that age. It was just like
you can run faster and jump higher. So I think
that I mean to be a good defender and score.
But when I started going to college and like playing
the pros, I learned that like, defense is going to
keep me on teams. Defense is going to get me minutes,
Defense is gonna get me paychecks. So I think that's
when kind of like the okay, you are actually a
defensive mind or player, you know, kind of came.
Into play and you started with a cheeko because you
started off in track. Yeah, you know it was a
real athlete before you started flooring.

I used to I can't dunk no more.
I believe you were a hurdles.
I think I played volleyball like one season in middle school.
But nah, he.
Probably would have been. I mean, clearly you doing what
you love, but you on the it was.
It was a cute little moment, but wouldn't a vibes

the point prestigious Yukon win or it don't matter. What's
that like walking on campus day one with all them
type of expectations.
Yeah, I think I didn't realize like just I mean,
I knew Yukon was like the best school and had
all these championships, but you don't know.
I mean, they don't got more but the best Tennessee
after Tennessee got something some trouble South Carolina.
No disrespect, but I obviously disagree, obviously disagree, but anyways,
a few moments for the shout out to Tennessee not
respectful for especially what Donna is doing right now.
He is building a dynasty. That's now debate about that,
but the dynasty talk about.
It's like and you.
Feel it as soon you step on campus, and then
you have to ask yourself, oh am, I actually built
for this because everyone wants to be cute and everyone
wants to have the championships. But it is actually an
insane kind of like like I don't know, just pressure.
Cooker, you got an environment, you got a crazy story
about coach you can tell.
Publicly. We I don't know. I was actually just talking.
I was talking about this yesterday because Page and I
obviously like what ten years twelve years apart, and she
was like, like, what was coach like when you were there?
And I was like, you know, there's a lot of
times where it's like a bit. You know, he's gonna
get at you. It's gonna be really hard, you're gonna
hate him. And then you get older and I'm like,
he was right about a lot of things. Actually I
don't want I didn't want to admit it, but that
man was right about.
A lot of stuff.
And we got talking about your squad too, damn near
everybody in that squad in the w and danger, Like
what's that light you walking in with future Hall of
famers on the squad?
Yeah, I was thinking about it yesterday when I was
seeing like Fee and Stewie and everyone and Paige, I
was just like, dang, we do have still mad Youukon
people everywhere like and it's just yeah, and like, even
if we all didn't play with each other, it all
still kind of feels like a family because we all
know what the other has gone through.
So, like I said, he is right. He knows how
to make the best product.

at each other.
Like uh, they they were at us. I think like
they were hard. I mean, coaches just make you. I
just remember never feeling so out of shape in my
whole life. And I was like the athlete, you know,
I was the one running my house and I came
I was like, damn, maybe I'm not well. Yeah, I
wasn't as good as I thought I was. I wasn't
as in shape as I thought. I was definitely not
as disciplined. So it's kind of like you're gonna catch
up or we're gonna leave you behind kind of thing.
And we would always make sure that they always made
sure our practices were harder than our games, so that
we were kind of prepared for anything like that.

They were good, like her coach was proven, something like
my coach was unproven. My coach died, so the assistant
coach was improve and so we did whatever we wanted.
What you know, like they said the prisoners was running
who was running the jail.

It's true. It's true, like her coach was proven.
They when you went to Yukon, you knew you were
going to Ukon because you wanted to play for him
and he had set a certain standard. I went to school.
My coach died when I got there, so whoever got
the job, nobody was who's this guy?
So we had.
So damn hard over there.
He's just the truth.
So I mean, I didn't want to go to a
school like that, though. I didn't want to play for
a team that had that kind of like prestige.
I just remember coach like when he was recruiting me
and he signed me in his office and he was
just like, you can come here if you want, but
if you don't, you'll just lose.
Like we'll win a championship with it without you.
Like I wouldn't have been I wouldn't have felt good.
How did that make you feel?
I was like, okay, I'll come tomorrow. Like he doesn't.
He does it to almost all of his recruits.
I learned as kind of like a test of like
is this do you want it to be about you?
Or do you want it to be about us?

Okay? He would have lost me. I was, okay, I'm
gonna beat y'all. That's how I would have took that.
You try to draw forty, you get seventy five with
your car. All right, now listened second year. You know
what I'm saying. You do what Yukon does best. What's
that feeling like?
Yeah? I know that was. That was a crazy feeling.
National championship, undefeated season, undefeated too. I remember those stuies
last year and she was like, let's just make memories.
Like was it easy to be honest?
Oh no, it was not easy.

But like I said, because what we did behind closed.
Doors a lot okay hard? What was the games easy?
The games we were well prepared for.

you remember your best game that year.
I was excited about the Final four because I got
to like start and I had like a big role
in it and everything. Because my first year that we won,
I didn't really play very much. So it was cool
to be like, Okay, I played a part.
In this one.
Now that next year, what's that like?
The next year was? The next year actually started off
pretty good.
Yeah, started off good because everyone was like what are
they going to do without Stewie, Mow and Tuck. And
it was kind of up to like me, Fi and
Lou and to kind of like be the next you know, Core.
And it was going better than anyone expected, which was cool,
like we were beating all these beating everyone's expectations. And
then the Minsissippi State game. Yeah, just weren't ready for
the Final four.
Going to the Final four though, Like dude, like are
they excited? Like the U conferences like, yeah, we made
to the final four? Is they're like, oh, it's a
let down?
No, they lived for the final four Yukon.
Fans, because I feel like if you don't go to
the championship and your Yukon like yeah, in one law,
that's crazy. Like one loss is like oh damn, we
had to mess up, Like we had a hell of
one game for to go to the final four. We
building new things. Lose definitely for sure, for sure, that's good.
You ca it, like damn it.
Next year, I mean my record was like something however,
many wins and three losses, but two of those losses
were a freaking national championship, you know, like there.
Were two big losses. Me, I don't care about that record,
And I was like.
Yeah, unbelievable.
I know I'm jumping ahead, but what's that like when
you only lose three games in college and then you
go to the W or you go overseas and now
you lose, you know, like what I think?
It was kind of a weird relief and like not
having kind of pressure. It was a different kind of
pressure because it was my hero. I was trying to
find my way. But I just remember just trying to
keep like my head above water and just trying to
like learn the ropes of the W And I was
just focused on we weren't winning, so I was just focused,
I think on a million other things of just trying
to like figure myself.
Out in the league. Now, Freaky might pull it up
your record that's correct for eight.
Yeah, but that's all I think about. Are the two
even the one?
All three were in overtime, All three were Yeah, so
you damn or win if.
She's like that's a rehash also, but that basically saying
that's a little tough, that's that's a sensative subject for.
That year, she was the guard I can't William.

we're getting all this media coverage and we came back
and you're like, what we got to eat?
I was like, we got some minute rice and some frozen.
Vegetables and that's what we made for Like are the
celebrit invatory dinner?
I think I had like maybe some dollar steaks from
I don't know where.
Y'all was supposed to be in the Glad you didn't
get gone to write you a legend.

Like PERI said that before, like they wasn't Yeah, because

Different, you con was different because we lived on campus,
so we didn't get like stipend and stuff. We got
like food points to the union, but you used those
food points like in the first two weeks. I remember
like this was illegal, but I was selling my shoes
and stuff, like I was telling my Yukon stuff China.
Wow, that's that's really crazy because it was like that
away for no facts.
She was taking care of But for sure for y'all
to do all this winning and you talking about what
we finish eat that should be the last thing.
They how do they get y'all there? Like you what
is the sale coming?
Nobody had anything? Like, nobody had an als It's something.
We were the only school that with Broke College, you
know bro college kids.
Noah, it was, but they weren't we Aldy you. It's
some schools. People got different perks. He was to wait
for us. They wouldn't winning nothing. They Hey, we got
some many rights and some pros events.
I mean they fed us, like after before I get
in trouble, they fed us like after every practice. We
had training table, we have breakfast and everything, you know,
like we just got off the plane, we're a little
probably hungover and get to the apartment and like we
know we're not ordering ordering, no stak dinner nothing.
So no, it would have been lit and.
We're joking for the second pile. I'm saying right now, yeah,
I need out back to open a right now. Actually
that's like, that's what I'm saying. Like they didn't like.
They had everything opened up, like come eat for free,
like the National Tips.
I would think, like whatever the restaurant.
They didn't like have a celebration like when y'all landed,
like I got back. It wasn't like crazy, y'all just
went too much. So people just no, no, no.
We definitely partied, like we definitely yeah, yeah, it was
like the plane landed, all the fans were there and everything,
like we'd already partied. I think it was in Indiana.
It was in Indianapolis, I think party and then uh,
you know, you don't know.
We definitely had a time.
It was like more of the when everything kind of
settled and we were just like in the apartment after
and we're like, oh, by the way, we gotta go
grocery shopping, like we have no money, no food.
Point back to reality.
Yeah, they don't like they like people around the city
and get you all free stuff.

What's that feeling like holding it down for your for
your people going crazy, especially this last time.

that moment?
Like to Hooper gets some of the best town in
the world, and you know, it's a little bit of
a different game from the WR matching as well.
Yeah, it's a very different game from the WH. Playing
for your national team is so different, Like it's it's
a really special feeling because you're just playing for so
much more than just like basketball. You know, you're playing
for your country, playing for your family, playing for your people,
and it's just like every.
Game you feel like you're fighting for your life.
Like every game feels so heavy and like so much
pressure on it, which makes it more exciting.
But yeah, it's it's a different.
Feeling, especially when you're you know what I'm saying, the
host country is your home country.
