Speaker 1: You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio.

00:00:04
Speaker 2: Uh, we made it to a Friday. It's a meet Friday, and boy oh boys, shots fired by Dylan. Dylan whipping up meat Friday. I'm not even going to tell you what the menu is. I'm gonna let him tell you in about fifteen minutes from now. But wow, you want to talk about a comeback, Sending a message to the dan nts after they cried and moaned and whined because we had Indian food last Friday and not many of the dan nts partook in that. So Dylan created a menu today and boy is he out for retribution. He'll tell you about that coming up. Gang's all here, Minister of humer Fritzie Seaton, Marv Paully, yours truly, and of course, the back room Guy's stat of the day is always brought to you by Panini America. The official trading cards of this program and first hour brought to you by ti iraq dot Com. They've been doing it for over forty years. Ship fast and free back by free road hazard protection, convenient installation options, mobile tire installation, tire rack dot Com. The way tire buying should be play the day, poll, question, stat of the Day, all of that forthcoming final hour of the show. Bam At a bio, the Miami Heat forward will join us. He went from eighty three points to last night. I believe twenty one points. I don't know if we've ever had a separation of sixty two points for a player in back to back games. Jim Beheim, he'll join us in the last hour of the show. I'm sure he'll be in a good mood and we'll get you ready for selection Sunday. Seth Greenberg from the mother Ship no bids last night, but we did have drama yesterday. Miami of Ohio or Miami Ohio or Miami loses and now all of a sudden, are they on the outside looking in? Did they become a bubble team because they win their conference one loss? So we'll talk about that with Seth Greenberg. Among other things. You had a couple of scares. Duke had a scare last night. North Carolina gets knocked off. I mean, it's March, it's madness, and we got games coming up this weekend. Eight seven, seven to three DP Show operator Tyler's sitting by. He'll take your phone calls. But you look at this week, we had an eighty three point performance. We had free agency quarterbacks moving. Kyler Murray finds a home college basketball, the World Baseball Classic sho let me talk about Kyler Murray for a moment. I don't think it was a surprise, but I thought Ross Tucker bringing up something yesterday where he said that Kyler Murray was going to be interviewing teams. I haven't seen any reports on this, but he talked about Kyler Murray getting on a zoom call. He was going to do a one year deal with Minnesota, but he kind of wants to know where his future is going to be after this now. I don't know if that happened or not, but Ross brought that up that maybe he's talking to between three and five teams about more than just one year. If I'm Kyler Murray, I worry about this year because if you take care of business this year, you're not gonna have to worry about where you're going to be the following year. Here is the question posed to Kyler Murray after signing with the Vikings.

00:03:22
Speaker 3: Do you view this as as you're coming in as the starting quarterback? Do you view this competition.

00:03:27
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:03:28
Speaker 5: No, Like I said, I'm just grateful for the opportunity. Grateful for the opportunity. You know, I look forward to coming in and competing and get to learn the offense, getting to be with coach O'Connell. Obviously he's had a lot of success. And again I'm just looking for looking forward to the opportunity to come in here and competing.

00:03:44
Speaker 2: Yeah, and this is what Kevin O'Connell said. He wants competition there with JJ McCarthy. McCarthy has not played well. He's been hurt the quarterbacking play. You know, it's remarkable how bad the Vikings quarterbacks were last year, and they nearly carved out of five hundred or above five hundred record. You can go back to JJ McCarthy in a loss to the Falcons through for one hundred and fifty yards. Actually, Vikings went ninety eight last year, didn't they not? Eight and nine nine and eight ninety eight? Yeah, five hundred record with this quarterback place of JJ McCarthy threw for one hundred and fifty yards two interceptions, lost to the Falcons, lost to the Steelers. Carson wentz through two interceptions the Eagles in a loss to the Eagles, Carson wentz through two interceptions in a loss to the Chargers. Carson wentz through through for one hundred and forty four yards in an interception in a loss to the Ravens. JJ McCarthy two interceptions in a one percepsion game. In a loss to the Bears, McCarthy threw for one hundred and fifty yards and two interceptions. McCarthy threw for eighty seven yards two interceptions in a loss to the Packers, and then in a loss to the Seahawks, Max Brosmer threw for one hundred and twenty yards for interceptions. Any kind of quarterback play, anything that resembles average or a little better. Now you're talking at least two more wins. Now you got eleven wins in a tough division. So Kyler Murray coming to town, and I'm curious. But Justin Jefferson thinks of this whenever I think of the Vikings. You know, it's not normal that when you think of your NFL team you go right to another position player, not a quarterback. But in this situation, Justin Jefferson, now he still had decent numbers. He didn't score many touchdowns, I think he had two. But now you've got Kyler Murray and they're going to change the offense. They're gonna put him in shotgun. Kevin O'Connell has had his quarterbacks under center a lot. But from the reports there, I mean, you got to play to Kyler Murray strengths here. I think it's a great pickup. Yeah, I don't think you can lose in this situation from the standpoint of you getting for one point three million getting paid by the Cardinals. I just want to know if he's motivated, because if he is, then this could be, you know, a fun special year in Minnesota. All right, Seaton, let's pull question.

00:06:13
Speaker 6: Maybe we start right there. How's j Justin Jefferson feeling this morning? Confident or concerned?

00:06:21
Speaker 2: I would say you got to be more confident after this season there was real concern. So anything that resembles a starting quarterback, I'd be like, all right, he did bring out a great season in DeAndre Hopkins back in twenty twenty. Now, I know that's a long time.

00:06:40
Speaker 6: That one time, six years ago a wide receiver had a good season with him.

00:06:44
Speaker 7: Hey, that's good.

00:06:47
Speaker 2: I like the move. I think that there is there's a ton of potential there. The question is does he want to play and can they make it work in this offense. But if you have if Justin Jefferson, it's a good place to start. Let's put it that way.

00:07:06
Speaker 8: Yes, Paulin three years ago, Justin Jefferson one hundred and eighty four targets, one hundred and twenty eight catches, eighteen hundred yards. That was with Kirk Cousins, a non scrambler.

00:07:17
Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, I wonder if you could have Kirk Cousins or Kyler Murray back. If you ask Justin Jefferson who's he gonna want, he'd probably say Kirk Cousins. Uh, But I like Kyler Murray. I think it's a no risk one year, see what you can do, and then after that you can decide you want to keep him or you move on. Maybe JJ McCarthy is gonna be healthy, Maybe he's gonna be a first round challenge.

00:07:43
Speaker 9: Yeah.

00:07:43
Speaker 7: See, that's the thing.

00:07:44
Speaker 6: That would bug me about Justin Jefferson, or if I was him, is that it's you know, you know, now, another new quarterback. That what We're gonna give him a shot for a year to see what happens, and then maybe we go back to the other guy that was there that maybe we're not sure about either.

00:07:59
Speaker 7: There's just a lot of limbo.

00:08:00
Speaker 6: It's not so much about Kyler Murray himself, although that would be concerning to me too. It's the fact that the Vikings are like, all right, let's give this guy another shot, see what happens with him. Like, dude, but what can we get a little stability here? And who's throwing me the ball?

00:08:14
Speaker 2: It would worry me that we're headed down the Larry Fitzgerald pass exactly. If you look at the quarterbacks that he had and you go, how did he have that many catches that many yards? Now, he had a couple of really good quarterbacks, but also he had a long list of below average quarterbacks. And if I'm justin Jefferson, I don't want to go down that road. It's a Hall of Fame road, but I don't want to go down that road with that list of characters at quarterback. Yes, Marvin, and.

00:08:44
Speaker 10: The level of frustration that he must feel because the quarterback that went somewhere else won the Super Bowl, So he's like, we had our quarterback and we won fourteen games with him.

00:08:55
Speaker 3: What else?

00:08:57
Speaker 2: If you go back to you. Oh no, if you go back to early Larry the mic.

00:09:02
Speaker 8: If you go back to early Larry Fitzgerald, he had you know, he had a great quarterback. But then in the middle of his career Kevin Cobb, John Skelton, Ryan Linley, Max Hall, and then his numbers would be like seventy one catches instead of one hundred and eight.

00:09:16
Speaker 2: But that was the problem. Yeah, and he was a wonderful player, Hall of Fame player, but there had to be frustration of can't we get somebody that I can really count on it?

00:09:29
Speaker 6: It's hard to find somebody to throw me the ball consistently. I mean, I'm pretty you know if I'm one of these dudes like that, if I'm a Larry Fitzgerald or a Justin Jefferson or you know, any great wide receivers, Like, how is it this difficult to find the quarterback to throw me the ball?

00:09:45
Speaker 2: I agree, I agree, that's crazy. And then you have Marvin Harrison Junior, the third where you think you have that wide receiver and you don't. Now he had a pretty good year or second half of the year. I believe you got Trey McBride and you know, Cardinals weren't able to take advantage of that. But I do like the move and it's no surprise going to Minnesota. Now, I guess the waiting game is what the Steelers do. I guess it's Aaron Rodgers or Will Howard or who else do they have on the roster the oh, who's the perennial Well, they got him, the guy out of Oklahoma State, Mason Rudolph. Mason Rudolph, I believe is still there.

00:10:33
Speaker 8: I have him as the starter on the depth chart for the Steelers right now.

00:10:37
Speaker 2: Mason Rudolph. Okay, yeah, confidence is high, all right, So poll question, we're gonna do Kyler Murray first hour.

00:10:46
Speaker 6: Seeah, I think we're doing more justin Jefferson on how he's feeling this weekend, right now this morning. You can also put up there the expectations for the Chiefs next season are dot dot dot.

00:10:58
Speaker 2: Well, you know when whenever a player says, well, I don't want to go out that way, Well, there's no guarantee that Travis Kelce is going to have a better season or the Chiefs will have a better season. They lost a lot of players and Travis Kelce's not your go to guy, not even your second go to guy you do bring in Kenneth Walker. I don't know what the timeframe is going to be for Patrick Mahomes. You're in a tough division. I think the over under was ten and a half wins. What I thought was kind of high, thought it'd be nine and a half. But here's Travis Kelcey on his New Heights podcast talking about coming.

00:11:36
Speaker 11: Back, taking a step back, letting the emotions settle down, the frustrations from the season.

00:11:43
Speaker 3: Of course I want to come back.

00:11:44
Speaker 11: Of course I don't want to end my career not making the playoffs. And it still felt like I was hungry enough to get back at it. And obviously there's still a little bit of that grit in that emotion that you know, I've hated the way that ended last year. I want to make it right.

00:12:02
Speaker 2: Okay, I'll be surprised if he has a better year this year than last year, but that I'm going to base part of that on Patrick mahomes availability and this Kansas City team And let's see what they do in the draft. Do they go after a tight end? Is Travis Kelsey going to be a role player, a role tight end in this offense? Here but I haven't met too many players who end up losing and or they don't play well, or they get injured, who don't say the following, I don't want to go out that way. Chances are it doesn't get much better than what it was before. But I'm glad he's back. It's a great storyline. I'm fine with it, and I'm sure that Patrick Mahomes loves having him out there. It just you watched him and you could actually see him starting to slow down and that he was fast, but you know, he got into spaces, he got there before the defender did he used to and it just they had some kind of chemistry synchronicity between him and Mahomes where it just worked and it was almost unstoppable. But you could see the you know, the signs were certainly there that slowing down and not that go to guy anymore.

00:13:21
Speaker 10: Yes, Mark, and last season looked like the sad part of the Sports Century episode where somebody starts to slow down and they're at the play they used to be, and Travis Kelsey was missing passes that he normally caught with regularity, and he just saw him go into the other team's hands and he used to be a whole bunch of rcis last year.

00:13:38
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's kind of like behind the music where you have to have the dip, but then they always come back after the dip. Usually, you know, behind the music.

00:13:48
Speaker 7: Johnny Resnick a writer's block. What were googled Doll's gonna do?

00:13:54
Speaker 2: I love that? I love that, Iris, I love that. Hoody and the Blowfish added behind the music, and everybody was like, wait, how can Hooty and the Bluefish have a behind the music where something bad went wrong?

00:14:09
Speaker 6: And and the thing that went bad, the thing that went bad was we got too successful that everybody hated us. Yes, oh what a tragedy records and everyone hated us. It was a really difficult time, yes, Tod.

00:14:26
Speaker 12: And usually someone lost a limb, or there was a fiery car crash or just something usually or drug overdose.

00:14:31
Speaker 3: Those are the behind the music kind of things. It's like, and he lost his legs?

00:14:35
Speaker 2: Wait are you talking about def Leppard.

00:14:38
Speaker 12: I've heard there were a number of times where I watched that show where someone lost a limb, or it was a drug overdose or a fiery car crash, and that's what broke up the bear.

00:14:46
Speaker 2: I know, it's always there's always a drug overdose. I don't know how many people lost limbs.

00:14:53
Speaker 6: Yes, that's why the Googo Dolls one is so funny to me, because Johnny Resdik having writer's block was the big hook on it, and he's like, you know, the funny thing about having writer's.

00:15:01
Speaker 7: Block is you're writing the whole time. Just everything you write sucks.

00:15:05
Speaker 6: I think, Wow, that must have been really hard to figure out, Johnny.

00:15:09
Speaker 7: One of these songs is gonna be good eventually. Oh, now we got a good song again.

00:15:12
Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, Paul, I just looked.

00:15:15
Speaker 8: The Behind the Music for Motley Crue was two hours long because there are so many deaths and overdoses they had to do two hours.

00:15:22
Speaker 6: Razzle got it in the in the car.

00:15:25
Speaker 7: Yeah, that was a tough one.

00:15:26
Speaker 10: Yes, mar do you know the first artist the first episode Behind the Music? Do you know who the artist was? Late eighties, early nineties?

00:15:34
Speaker 13: Big Scandal, Whitney Houston, I said, big Scandal, Mariah Carey, Billy Vanilli, Madonna.

00:15:45
Speaker 2: Oh that was a big Behind the Fake Music.

00:15:51
Speaker 10: August seventeenth, nineteen ninety seven, the first episode ever of Behind the Music.

00:15:56
Speaker 2: Yeah, and took place right across the street from ESPN's right late compounds lake compounds, not lake compounds, Lake compounds. Yeah, that would be where we would have our picnic every year, the ESPN picnic where they read it out lake compounds girl girl.

00:16:15
Speaker 3: You know you girl?

00:16:21
Speaker 2: One of the guys still alive? Right, Yes? Okay, Melly, I don't I don't know if it's Melly or Vanilla checking.

00:16:30
Speaker 3: Or is it pretending to be alive?

00:16:34
Speaker 2: Okay, Tod All right, Uh, we'll take a break. We got our poll question, We get phone calls coming up, and if you're watching on Peacock or NBC Sports Network, Dylan is going to unveil his menu and it's definitely directed at the Dan Nets after the revolt that we had a meet Friday last week that I thought was respectable, thought it was pretty tasty, but there were few people and I'm looking at you people who Dylan is coming after. So that'll be coming up, and we'll dive into the Bam Out of Bio game after the game as he talks about why does he have to apologize for scoring eighty three? Bam will join us at the final hour of the show. Take a break back after this Dan Patrick show.

00:18:33
Speaker 2: Following the most controversial Meet Friday menu and Dan Patrick's show history, Dylan, who is the resident chef. He came up with a menu and it's a kid's menu, and it says fun bites for our little dan nets kids under sixty get to eat free. And here are the items, and he says they're little bites. The nugget volcano that'll be mashed potatovolcano with gravy lava, chicken fingers including a barbecue dipping fountain, SpongeBob mac and cheese, super cheesy noodles, cut up hot dogs, and uh also for sippy cups chocolate milk. Who has it better than we do? No, why.

00:19:21
Speaker 3: Todd, are those dino nuggets? I'm assuming that it's like chicken nuggets, the dino nuggets.

00:19:25
Speaker 8: Because I thought, No, that's actual dinosaur Todd.

00:19:27
Speaker 12: No, what I'm saying is, if it's nuggets, if it's chicken nuggets supposed to some other type of poultry or meat, that sounds like the first and second item are pretty much the same thing with just different shapes.

00:19:36
Speaker 3: Accurate, because we've got chicken fingers. Why do we need chicken nugget chicken and finger chicken?

00:19:42
Speaker 2: Why don't you take it up with the chef.

00:19:43
Speaker 12: I may after he's gonna be very upset with me coming off the last week, and now we're complaining about the kid bites. But the first two things are basically the one thing.

00:19:50
Speaker 6: Yes, Suton, I don't, I don't, I really, I'm still puzzled at the overwhelming backlash and now this sort of air of superiority. Were the Indian food eaters somehow that people are walking with their noses up a little more this week, Like those Dino nuggets aren't named.

00:20:09
Speaker 7: At me, Like, what, what's the big deal?

00:20:13
Speaker 2: So you have nuggets and chicken figures and Todd you love both.

00:20:17
Speaker 12: But that I just said this, chicken nuggets and chicken fingers, just it's just two of the same.

00:20:22
Speaker 3: I'm gonna mix one of those up.

00:20:24
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:20:25
Speaker 6: See, Indian Food is the culinary world's version of the band Willco. That if Willco, if you don't like Wilco, then you don't know anything about music. And that's basically the way that if you don't know Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, then you really don't know anything about music. That's how people are reacting to if you enjoyed the Indian Food last week or not.

00:20:46
Speaker 2: I think radio Head was Radiohead Willco. Before Willco, I think where if you don't get Radiohead, then you don't get music.

00:20:54
Speaker 6: Maybe maybe, although that's correct, but if you don't get Wilco, there was like a plus on every possible album chart of ever, of all times, I will go and these guys you just have to understand what they're doing here, and like, why what if I just don't like it, It's okay.

00:21:12
Speaker 7: It's okay to just not like it.

00:21:14
Speaker 15: My brother, Big Jeff Tweety fans Jeff Tweety is an American hero. Come on, and so I even say to him. I said, Dave, I don't I don't get it. Why don't you get it? I go, I don't know.

00:21:27
Speaker 2: I tried. I mean, I said, I like the band's sun Bolt more than I Now. Stay in your line, Dan.

00:21:38
Speaker 8: I gotta ask you this because it's your generation. When I was a kid, I did not like Pink Floyd, and I was ostracized in the neighborhood. I was young, though, and I think I missed Peak Floyd. But uh, it didn't go well for Lloyd.

00:21:52
Speaker 2: Yeah Peak, that's Pink's brother, yea Peak Peak Floyd. They called me peaky peaky blinders Floyd caught a lot of heat though, and then he had another brother, step brother Sleepy Floyd. It was also in there too. Yeah, we're gonna hear from the musicos. Stay in your lane, yes, Marvin.

00:22:15
Speaker 10: John and Illinois line one.

00:22:18
Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm sure I'm gonna get Yeah, you're gonna be a flamethrower. There's gonna be somebody coming after me. Oh my god. Okay, So we have our menu here, and it's a menu that is catered to Fritzie. This everything including the chocolate milk.

00:22:34
Speaker 3: I'm gonna put the slice hot dog on the mac and cheese and go to town.

00:22:37
Speaker 2: Now. I think it's great. I think it's great. All right, we'll get phone calls coming up eight seven to seven three DP show Bam out of bio will join us in the final hour of the program. He went from eighty three points to twenty one points, obviously a big drop, and I was curious, is this the biggest drop in NBA history? And it is sixty two points. Devin Booker went from fifty eight to his next game when he got injured, had two points. Anthony Davis went from fifty five to one. I think he got injured in that game. Course, So it's a separation of fifty four points. Donovan Mitchell, he went from seventy one to twenty. Tony Parker went from fifty five to four. I think he got injured as well. Kobe went from eighty one to thirty, and Anthony Davis again fifty nine to nine. So those are the biggest separations, but sixty two points Bam out of Bayo from eighty three to twenty one, and the story still lives because Bam after the game was asked about basically, why do I have to apologize for what I did?

00:23:48
Speaker 16: First of all, y'all are blaming me. You should be blaming their hair. Coach. Get that first. I was not the one let me go one on one the whole game until I started. Until I had seventy. You started to send a double. At that point I got seventy with like what nine minutes left to go in the game, you think I'm not going for it. And that's the thing that's crazy when they talk about the unethical part of the basketball. I'm like, if I have seventy with nine minutes to go, who would just be like, you know, coach.

00:24:20
Speaker 11: Just take me out?

00:24:22
Speaker 2: Yeah?

00:24:23
Speaker 4: Right?

00:24:24
Speaker 16: Anybody in my shoes with nine minutes left, Okay, a minute all right?

00:24:30
Speaker 7: Nine?

00:24:30
Speaker 16: Yeah, I'm going for it.

00:24:35
Speaker 2: Good. I'm glad. You know, he doesn't have to apologize. The Wizards need to apologize for you know, fielding a basketball team again. Know, the Washington Generals probably would have done a better job against Bam out of Bio probably so, Yes, Todd did the.

00:24:53
Speaker 12: Buck study that game of the Wizards defensive figure out. I had to shut down Bam and get him down from eighty something to twenty.

00:24:59
Speaker 2: I don't know, maybe they take credit, like, yeah, look at what we did. You know we shutting down. I put the over under a twenty two and a half. He ended up with twenty one. Buddha in San Francisco, Hi Buddha, welcome back, Buddy.

00:25:16
Speaker 17: Happy to meet Friday boys.

00:25:18
Speaker 9: Let's go.

00:25:19
Speaker 17: Dylan Dan, what a week?

00:25:22
Speaker 13: I mean?

00:25:23
Speaker 17: I am fired up. I mean, first of all, I was flooring people, Dan, this whole old school versus wedding, Christmas waiting crashes topic this week in the restaurant. I was just blocking side and regulars with that question. It was awesome to hear the responses. But with regard to the whole Bam surpassing Kobe topic. I mean, it's pretty cool that you have both their jerseys signed and hung up in the man Cave. That's pretty epic, Dan, But my phone was blowing up on Tuesday, and I gotta let everyone know. Just to preface this all my license plate, Dan, it reads twenty four LA Great. I'm admittedly a Kobe disciple, and I have to admit I feel bad for Bam. I mean, he's taking strays from everyone. In my opinion, it's not the fact that like he surpassed Kobe that deserves most people. It's the way in which it happened. I mean, and we've talked about that. You guys have talked about this. I think the frustration makes sense because, I mean, Kobe's eighty one is one of those like mythic performances in NBA history, like well t one hundred, Like fans tend to protect that, like in my opinion, and like when a new player passes it in the way in which he did. I think that's where like the craziness comes in and the reaction from people, like I mean, the whole reason that the NBA has gotten to where it's at. It's like it's almost unwatchable. And like I mean, the seas of the league getting to the line like they do, the amount of threes they're taken, the acting and the play catien that goes on, I mean, the loadvantagement, et cetera. The major problem in the way the current paradigm of this NBA is they're soft and selfish and they're not looking out for the association. They're looking out for themselves. And you know, it's just, in my opinion, it's just not.

00:27:19
Speaker 18: Good.

00:27:21
Speaker 2: Thank you, Buddha. That's a long winded Buddha there normally his stealth talking defending Kobe Bryant. Yeah, I get it, I understand it. But I'm not blaming Bam Autobio, although I will ask him when he got to eighty one, what did he think? Did he give it any thought that he would? Hey, I'll take myself out and I'll tie Kobe Bryant, who was his idol? Dustin in Alabama, high Dustin. What's on your mind? Morning?

00:27:51
Speaker 19: In a big roll, Hoddyll, It's neat Friday, cut up, hot dog Beaners is ut back in Sese?

00:27:58
Speaker 18: Wow? Too quick?

00:28:00
Speaker 19: So I think free agency and the NFL Draft are a lot like your meat Fridays that with free agency, for the most part, you know what you're getting burgers, brats. But then you know the draft, you might get something a little more different that might not sit well with everybody's stomach, like Indian food. Regarding Bam Kobe will the whole scoring thing, you know, the thing about all that, all those games and the way they got to the points they did at the end of the day, in the beginning of the morning.

00:28:31
Speaker 17: They all put your pants on the same way we do.

00:28:36
Speaker 2: Thank you, Dustin Aaron in Fresno, Hi Aeron, what's on your mind?

00:28:41
Speaker 4: DP?

00:28:42
Speaker 20: Thanks for taking my call, damn that it's happy to meet Friday. I got a possible pull question and a favor slash comment. I gotta ask you BP. But first, don't keep doing your thing. Bro chopped up hot dogs. Those guys left they use croct pluffs. But that being said, the poll question if Kobe top five or the top five through ten, because right now, talking online with people, if you disagree with somebody that loves Kobe, you.

00:29:11
Speaker 4: Get a lot of backlash. And with all that being said, I know you're interviewing bamm in a little bit, could you just maybe ask him if there was a nice little little get back, considering they lost to the Lakers in the finals in the bubble and he'd passed one of the greatest Lakers ever, maybe that might have just left the better taste in his mouth. You guys are the best.

00:29:32
Speaker 20: Have a great weekend.

00:29:33
Speaker 4: Grace.

00:29:34
Speaker 2: Thank you, Eric. No, because Kobe was his idol. I don't think he was doing it to spite the Lakers losing in the finals. I think it was just in front of him and he stayed in and they kept fouling him, and I don't think there was any spite here. Yeah.

00:29:52
Speaker 6: Sorry, is Aaron suggesting there's something wrong with crock pots? No, I believe that Potts just took astray there. These guys look like there are people who use crock pots. What the hell's wrong with the crockpot, Aaron.

00:30:06
Speaker 2: It's just staple in my kitchen.

00:30:08
Speaker 8: I think Marvin said this yesterday. Bam Adebayo never thought he'd be there, probably will never be close to this again. This was a night that came out of nowhere. This isn't a guy who scores fifty here and there, and it might have a frame of reference for going into a game like this, This is an anomaly against a horrible team that just happened, and nobody had a chance to think there wasn't like at halftime, they weren't discussing Kobe Bryant's legacy in the locker room.

00:30:33
Speaker 2: No, But I think Eric Spoolstra, who is unapologetic as well, the Heat coach, he said, hey, I left him in. I was leaving him in, and he talked about that after last night.

00:30:46
Speaker 21: I apologize to absolutely no one period. And you know, going into the game, you know it's a Tuesday night game against a team whether they're not playing for anything, their organization is trying to lose. We've already lost the game.

00:31:04
Speaker 3: You know.

00:31:05
Speaker 22: In that kind of situation, we have players that are sitting out. And I spoke to Bam about I want, as our best player and team captain for him to be locked in and ready, and he sure was.

00:31:19
Speaker 2: Yeah, he's never going to have this chance again, but he did. He took advantage of it. Good for him. Ben and Milwaukee, Hi, Ben, what's on your mind?

00:31:30
Speaker 18: Combon and Dan and dan Etts Happy meet Friday. I think it's inevitable Wilt's Record's going to get broken. And Bam was just the start. That three point shooting makes it inevitable, not a big deal to hit sixty points.

00:31:43
Speaker 4: Is the.

00:31:46
Speaker 2: Luca had an oh, by the way, fifty one last night. I mean it's and I like, how I'm listening to ESPN and one of the announcers what at the end, he goes, Hen, Luca ended up with fifty one, and I go, wait a minute, Bam had eighty three, Like, I don't know if we can do it in a breathless manner anymore. Yes, Seaton.

00:32:08
Speaker 6: It's weird to me though, that we're like, oh, well, this is just the start, because you know, with all the three point shooting, this is gonna happen more. But Bam didn't do it by shooting threes. If anything, people are pissed at the amount of foul shots he got. So he did at one point at a time, not three points at a time.

00:32:20
Speaker 2: Yeah, And I think, you know, I was wondering about this that I thought, Devin Booker, Luca, I got to have somebody who's going to have the ball. James Harden I thought would be a guy who could get seventy. But you know, there's a big difference you get to sixty. I mean, that's that's rare. And then you're going to tack on forty more. And I mean, there's only so many Wizards in the NBA. How many opportunities are you going to get a chance to play against somebody who isn't any good and maybe don't care about being good. But bam Otebayo still put up sixty on you in three quarters, so you can complain all you want. He still put up sixty and nobody was saying, oh, they're making a travesty of this. They did make a travesty of that in the fourth quarter the way the Wizards played.

00:33:15
Speaker 8: Yeah, Pauli, I've got the box score for Luca uh when he's with the Mavericks January twenty twenty four, he scored seventy three points twenty five to thirty three from the field, eight of thirteen from three, fifteen of sixteen from the line. Guess who he did it against? Not Washington, Guess who he might have done it against.

00:33:36
Speaker 2: Miami, Yes, Marph, the Hawks, the Atlanta Hawks, the Wizards of the South. Yes. And then who do the Wizards trade for Tray Young? Yep? Yeah, all right, we'll take a break. MorePhone calls coming up. We'll uh look ahead to selections Sunday with Seth Greenberg from the Mothership Bam out of Bio in the final hour and Jim Beheim will join us as well. Take a break Play the Day next.

Speaker 6: By the way, this guy says, today's meet Friday meal would be the NFL Free agency version of picking up Kyler Murray.

00:35:34
Speaker 2: Oh no, dang, So what's mean? It's mean Friday, not meant Friday.

00:35:45
Speaker 6: I don't know if it's Is that a shot at Dylan? Is that a shot at us? Is that a shot at just everybody? I don't really know, but it is damn funny. Let's say today Justin Jefferson is feeling confident or concerned. Fifty four percent of the audience have him as confident, and then the expectations for the Chiefs next season super Bowl playoffs or rebuilding playoffs have about fifty three percent of that vote. That's the easy way out is them making the playoffs, but rebuilding versus super Bowl. Thirty two percent have them rebuilding still versus a super Bowl appearance.

00:36:16
Speaker 2: Ryan in Detroit, Hi, Ryan, what's on your mind this morning?

00:36:21
Speaker 24: Yeah?

00:36:21
Speaker 9: Thanks for calling me back again, dan first of all left leg, right leg no, Fritzy fulcrum. And then with all of.

00:36:31
Speaker 24: The shots coming across the bow from management to the Dnets via the trigger the last couple of weeks and free agency happening right now, it's got me wondering. Have the Danets explored free agency over the last many years and would they care to share any stories?

00:36:52
Speaker 2: Okay, don I'll start with you. Have you explored free agency recently?

00:36:58
Speaker 12: I have not, Not only not really, but not really at all over the past many years we've been working together.

00:37:05
Speaker 2: All right, Seaton, have you explored free agency?

00:37:07
Speaker 7: I have not.

00:37:08
Speaker 6: I have not explored free agency. I think free agency has been explored on my behalf, but not. There are other people who are more interested in my free agency.

00:37:17
Speaker 2: No, I haven't looked they do it? Yeah? Have you thought about free agency? Have you?

00:37:25
Speaker 7: Maybe you should? Maybe you should?

00:37:26
Speaker 2: Yeah? Marvin, have you explored free agency?

00:37:31
Speaker 4: I have not?

00:37:31
Speaker 18: No?

00:37:33
Speaker 2: All right, Paulie, not explored? Now that sounded like there was a yes. No.

00:37:44
Speaker 8: Sometimes I don't know about the other guys. You get calls, but you don't pursue or like click on job links that type of stuff of course.

00:37:52
Speaker 2: Okay, all right, so there's your answer. I don't know if anybody's telling the truth, but I'm going to believe. I choose to believe them. I don't think that they've reached out. You're not going to find anything better than this, Marvin, You're not.

00:38:08
Speaker 3: You're right.

00:38:08
Speaker 10: I haven't explored, but I've been reached out too.

00:38:13
Speaker 2: Whoa you want to tell me? Who? You want to tell me? Where?

00:38:22
Speaker 10: I can't?

00:38:25
Speaker 2: No? Something crazy? Why not? Okay, I'll tell you so somebody reached Okay, and then I'll say it on the air. Let's see Aaron in Virginia. Good morning, Aaron. What's on your mind today?

00:38:43
Speaker 9: Hey man, I'm usually the contrarian when I call in and nothing has changed today, but I cannot with this conversation. I want to bring something up to you. Everybody has Kobe top whatever. I think he's even close. If you look at all time field goal percentage just among shooting guards, only shooting guards, he's not even in the top twenty five. And I can't even get to his actual ranking without paying stat muse what you're not going to do?

00:39:14
Speaker 23: What alone? Off the court stuff which we won't get into, but a lot of legal stuff, but shooting guard, that's your main focus is shooting. Field goal percentage is kind of the go to stat with that position, and again not even the top twenty five.

00:39:30
Speaker 2: Yeah, but whatever you're talking about with you know, Kobe off the floor has nothing to do with his all time ranking, and he was. He's a scorer. I mean that's what he had to do. He had to score in volume and he did. Now where you rank him, it's open to interpretation, obviously, it's your opinion. There is he a top twenty player, Absolutely, top fifteen player. Absolutely, you can make an argument he's a top ten player. He might not fit into your style or the person, but I know what I saw and he'd be hard to keep out of the top ten, top fifteen for sure. Yes, Pauline.

00:40:10
Speaker 8: I mean, if you were going to say anything negative about Kobe, you could say shooting stats. But I mean if you call the guy Michael Jordan light, that's like an unbelievable compliment saying, well, he wasn't as good as Jordan. Okay, let's pump the brakes a little.

00:40:26
Speaker 2: But everybody kept searching for the next Jordan. Kobe was the next Jordan. It wasn't Tracy McGrady. It wasn't Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway, all of these. We kept waiting, always the next Jordan, He's the next Jordan. Well we have the next Kobe was the next Jordan.

00:40:46
Speaker 10: Yes, Mark, And a big criticism of Kobe by a lot of people was, oh, he was trying to be Jordan.

00:40:51
Speaker 2: Duh.

00:40:51
Speaker 10: Wouldn't you want to try to be like the greatest player ever?

00:40:54
Speaker 2: I would. There were a lot of guys who tried to be like if they had a campaign, be like Mike. Kobe was as close as anybody has ever come. People wanted it to be Lebron and Michael. They they're nowhere near the same kind of player, but Kobe was. It's weird, you know, we're we're bringing back Kobe, We're bringing back Wilt.

00:41:19
Speaker 18: Now.

00:41:19
Speaker 2: I do love this when you have something this magnanimous where you start to then go, let's explore Wilt Chamberlain's numbers, so we're Kobe's numbers. And I think it's fun to be able to bring those players back to life and the respect that maybe they don't always get. Certainly Wilt, I will always be a proponent of what Wilt did. And you look at those stats and you go, wait a minute, he average fifty a game, Yeah, fifty point four. I believe Seth Greenberg will talk some college basketball bam out of bio in an hour from now.
