Hey, I'm going the other way I'm going clockwise real table this time. Jason a striker. Hello, Jeff Gersman, Hi, what's up? Yeah? Just you know, are we feeling hardy? And Hale here? Oh I've I spent the weekend six Yeah, I'm neither man. The disease just swept the office totally, just like everyone got something different. Yeah, you know, it's like, Dan, you had your thing a week ago. Mine it was like a twenty four hour ago. So mine seems like it's similar to what mine sounds similar to what you had, but mine was like two weeks exactly. So it was a week ago, but far into the way that you could not have been the thing that got me sick, right, And then Brad, you had something different. I guess, I don't know. Mine hung around for like four days, and then Jason just had a scare. Yeah it was a scare, Like it was a big, like weird sinusy thing, but it was it was severe. It was no fun. I was I had had a cold for a day and then it was but it was like I was relatively dry and then now I feel fine, but I am let's call let's say Flemmy and Drew is some kind of highlander, because I don't think he got sick at all. I don't know if I've ever known Drew to take a sick day ever. Now since i've known him, he's been sick. Cannot think of a time that he was come into work sick. He tries to hide it pretty well. That's a weird thing because it's like, that's my approach too, is like, yeah, don't take sick days. If you're sick work, you know, sick of work the same way you're gonna be sick at home. We had the company say specifically, don't come to work sick because you just get everyone else. See. Yeah, I've been yelled at for that in the past. Yeah, but it's like I feel like it's a work ethic thing. To me, It's like I can work. That's why. That's why we were horrified when we came in for Extra Life and I found out you were sick and hanging out with us. Yeah. Yeah, I struggle with that. I don't know whether or not I should come in whatever. Yeah. I used to be on your end of things, and then I got lazy. No, and but at some point it's like, oh, you know, I have stuff I can do at home most days. Well, on top of that, you get better faster when you rest. Yeah, sleeping crazy sleeping is good for your immune system. Yeah. No, I didn't do any of that. I just played a lot of commot Our sixty four games, which is RESTful. That'll also cure what ails you. Yeah, I finally definitely what was what did the doctor order? Oh? You know, I just I kind of bopped around some different stuff. I was just kind of looking in, checking in on some some stuff. Every so often I feel this weird urge to play Bruce Lee again. There's a video on Giant Bomba me playing through Bruce Lee start to finish, and that's just an awesome game. I love that. I love that game. Someone made a like someone poorted it or someone made a version of it for the Sega Master System. I don't think it's the full game, just someone just kind of for a for some kind of like programming contest or something just made. It was licensed by the Lee estate. This, this Master System version was certainly not. Yes, the the game that existed on the combat Or sixty four and the ZX Spectrum and all those other platforms of the era was a licensed and legal Bruce Lee product. That many Bruce Lee games out there, there aren't really he was using that UFC game. There was there was a Bruce League game that the Bruce Lee story, right, Yes, there was the game that was Chemist for the original Xbox I don't recall that one. Did that come out? Dragon? The Bruce Ley service of the sixteen bit joint? Right then they're saying fist of the Lotus always, I mean, I am, I am often thinking about No. I think Vivendi put out a Bruce Lee game for real on the Xbox I totally I remember that game at least getting announced. And then I at one point I found some screenshots on a Microsoft FTP that looked like they were beef from this supposed Bruce Lee game, and I ran a news story saying, look at this, and then they called up and said that's not a Bruce Lee game. What are you talking about? But wouldn't tell me what it was. And then I put me in this position of having to believe them, and I didn't. But it turns out they were right. I was an idiot and it was of two cockto Chojan cockto that hot fighting game. Bruce Lee Quest of the Dragon was released on the Xbox three oh two wish. But yes, yeah, yeah, vaguely remember that. Yeah yeah that game that that game did come out. Universal Interactive put it out. Bronan Entertainment apparently developed it. I don't even know who that is, neither they, but yeah, yeah, yeah. There's not been that many Bruce Lee games, so I don't know. I always flirt with playing that, but I don't know. I was just kind of fiddling around, flitting back forth between stuff. I was cleaning up some wiki pages in the giant bomb dot com wiki. There was a game called Action Force and a game called Action Force two Action Forces the britis name of Gi Joe. Oh wow, is it really? So? It was two g I Joe games that I didn't know existed and they never came over here. Well, I guess the Commodore wasn't really big enough for that to happen. I mean, plenty of Commodore games came out in the US, this one was there was There was a Gi Joe game released on the Commodore, but not but not one of these. In this in Action Force one Action Force International Heroes, you play wild Bill in the Dragonfly. Okay, so all the all the elements of the enemies were different, like at some point I think they were literally fighting actual Space Nazi in the British lineage of of Fake g I Joe. But yeah, Cobra was involved as well at some point. And then Action Force two did not come to the Commodore as a Spectrum exclusive apparently. And I posted the box art for that to Twitter, and it's like the worst quick kick fan art I've ever seen that. It is just like, what the fuck? So did it just suddenly starts smelling like sandwich meat in this rose, I just saw a cart of skunky. I just got it, like creeping death, Like it sounds like skunk to me. What yeah, I got that just at the same time. There you got delling me I'm at the end of the table. You've got skunk. You've just got what what? What is it rotting meat down there? No, it came to me last somebody just wheeled a cart by the room. Saw through the window. Skunks are sandwiches on it. San Francisco there, yeah, Sancisco. That's what they call it. Rice Rony. It's not actually rice or rony. Skunk Sam the scent gland in particulars I did that part. You can't let anyone who doesn't live here know the rice rony secret. Oh wait, hang on, you got it? Yea something that is something just wafted over here. Okay, that's not good. All right, Well, what in the world. I don't know, johant bomb casts coming to you in smell a vision? Yeah, just speak the day old outside, the day old on your counter, roast beef up to your face. Now everybody's grabbed your scratch and sniff card and uh, scratch number six. Scratch. That's the picture of Dan's face. Scratch that one. You know. They said to me that theaters scratch. Yeah, yeah, I remember that. Pretty ridiculous. They would just flash a number and it's like, okay, I can't really see my card, but I'm gonna scratch this one, and yep, that smells like a fart. Great, really done? Cool they all I think that was the same that they all probably smell. Kind of smelled the same. Bad. Oh man. Yeah, I don't know. I did some of that, and I played some other video games. I don't know if you want to know about them, yes I do, but uh, let's talk about the one new one first. Yeah, Okay, what do you say, what is it, Dan, What does Star Wars Battlefront smell like? Uh, laser beams one of those laser swords lightsabers is they call them in the lower of a Wookie Pedia calls them light saber. I want to I want to imagine that there's like kind of an acrid, sort of metallic smell that hangs in the air after you shoot a blaster. Does that sound plausible? Yeah, I would imagine. Yeah. I think you know, like a laser burning the air, burning the dust in the air. Yeah, yeah, looking fur getting burnt when you turn your heat on for the first time after not having it on for the entire Yeah, summer. Okay, And it's that like smell of dust being burned, and you think, man, I should have cleaned out these events a little better. But what am I gonna do? Just gotta wave it around a little while I get the stink out first. Okay. That's why the Stormtroopers are so inaccurate. They're trying to get the smell out of the course. Did you did you wave Star Wars Battlefront around a little bit try to get the smell out? Uh? No, waving? I played in a bunch Okay, it's uh, it's good. Yeah, it's a good video game. Okay, you're saying it's like diet Barks, then well, I mean, come on, it's not the tagline of Star Wars but Battlefront. Actually, I don't know. I haven't talked to the marketing folks. I don't know. It's good, it's go on. Don't think it has legs. In fact, I know it doesn't because I've played a bunch of it, and after I played about twelve hours or so, I was like, you know what, this has been fun, but I think I'm done. You can kind of see where the progression goes past that. The progression is kind of one of the main issues, and just the overall amount of content. You basically just unlock these like twenty four cards that you can slot into like a three card load out, and it is because they don't even use them the way that other games use cards. Are these permanent cards. Okay, so some of them are so like your grenades and you're like cool down weapons or whatever. Like let's say I have a grenade on LB and then I've got like a pulse cannon on RB or whatever. Those are permanent and it's not like a finite resource or anything. It just operates on a cool down. But then your middle card is you're holding why And that's something where it's like, Okay, your accuracy is boosted for X number of seconds, or your gun now has this ion charge, it's better at taking down shields or whatever, and that's limited. But those have a number in the corner of the cards, Like right now, I've got like thirty six charges on my Focus Fire Accuracy card or whatever, and that carries over. So you kind of have to worry about that thing that Jeff You've talked about with Halo reck cards, where it's like, Okay, I could use this, but is this really gonna make a difference, you know, or should I just save this for ones where it will matter? But like you pick up so you pick up additional charges in the matches themselves, right, So they are a little lightning bolt icons and you can pick those up and that will add to it permanently, yeah, permanently, meaning like it it's a it's a number that carries over from match to match, right, persistently, yeah, permanently yeah, yeah, And I have not run out of those yet. I don't use that y skill enough for it to be a problem, but yeah, you do have to kind of think about, oh, should I actually use it now. In the beta, it was only like a shield. I think it might have been one of the only like MAYB middle card h abilities they had in there. Yeah, because there's the lightning bolts and that's the charges. But then there's also like squad shield and things, which are power ups that you use both L one and R one or LB and RB and so that'll pull out like your smart rocket or something like that. That's a one time use that's pop get up on the battlefield and have it once per match. I No, it's just whenever you pick up a power up. If I pick up this little like circular icon, it's like, oh, it looks like that was a blaster cannon. So I can set down this like little man turret thing and I can use that. But that's that until you took another power up and go, now, I got this little droid that runs around and shoots things for me. That sounds cool. Yeah, there's there's a lot of cool things. It's just these things that you unlock. It's like, you know, there's eleven primary weapons and they're all the whole game. Yeah, and they blasters, so they're all you know, no Ammo, you don't pick up, ammo, you don't reload. They all just kind of operate on an overheating thing, and so they overheat. It's a little like active reload thing they have to use. Do they feel different, not so much, Like most of them feel pretty sammy. Some of them will kind of like zoom in a little more with their scope than others. And then there's like one or two that like are very obviously like this is the long range blaster, this is the short range blasters. Like they rate of fire differences. Yeah, yeah, Like like when I think back to what blasters are like in the Star Wars movies, they all kind of shoot the same, right yeah, I mean they're all shooting those lasers. They all reload or reload, you know, so they don't they don't go all the way with it and be like all right, here's your blaster shotgun and here is the the grade launcher approximation. There's there's nothing like a grenade launcher. Now that there are power ups that are more like explosive type their powers that are little literally grenades, right right, But the blasters themselves. It's like, yeah, this one's kind of the shotgun, this one's kind of the sniper rifle. But they're all like you know, AMMO lists overheating blast, so those all feel kind of say me. You know, out of those twenty four cards you can unlock, like five of them are different types of grenades, and I only wound up using one of them a lot. Uh, you know, five of them are different like you know, weapon cooled down. She started getting these traits later on. There's five traits, so it's like Survivalist. If you have this equipped, you know, your your health regenerates faster, stuff like that. But it's just kind of few and far between as far as the things you'd actually want to use. I mean, everyone's gonna be different, but there's only twenty four cards, and like I would level up frequently and it's like, okay, now you can buy this, you know, ion grenade or smoke grenade or somethings. Yeah, I'm not going to use that. I'm not expecting every shooter to have the super micromanagement customization of like a call of duty or anything. But when all the primary weapons are really say me, and I only want to use a few of the cards or whatever, I didn't really feel a pull to keep progressing. That's sort of like, I mean that almost sounds like titan Fall. I mean, titan Fall did have variety and its weapons. But as someone you know, like I have a pretty defined play style, I think most people that play shooters probably do. Know they probably have wept as they tend to gravitate towards I assume. But I think titan Fall had a lot more options. Like I like titan Fall a lot, and I think and I do remember when I play. That's like my big problem with titan Fall is like it's just like you, I would get to like level twelve or something like, well, I've unlocked everything I want to use, and now what I felt between like customizing your dudes load out and your Titans like rockets and all that ship, I feel like there was more room to kind of make a character your own in titan Fall, whereas I don't really feel that with Battlefront. But that's said, I mean there are a bunch of like it looks great, it sounds I mean, it's Star Wars. It sounds great, and it plays really well, and there are event there are occasionally these moments where it's like I would just stop, like I'm planning as a Stormtrooper and I'm on tattooing and I'm saying, like Luke Invader, you know, player controlled Luke Invader having a lightsaber battle, while like these player controlled actually good at all? To the lightsaber battles look good because I feel like every time I saw a little bit of that in the beta, it just looked real terrible. Hang on, are you talking about two characters with lightsabers fighting each other? Yeah, I mean it doesn't look like this choreograph Darth mollifies anything like this. That's something that they allow for like mechanically, like they kind of I mean, it's not like I mean they're hitting each other and stuff, and it's not just like intricately animated like Soul caliber battle each other. Yeah, but I mean it was just like the idea of like, oh man, that guy's playing is Luke, this guy's playing is Vader, and those guys are also flying these X wings and tie fighters above their head. Like I remember just seeing that and stopping and be like this is pretty cool, and all the music sounds great and it's weird. It just everything on paper seems like it's it is the great Star Wars multiplayer game. It looks great. Star Wars is such like an iconic and just like you know, people love that universe, they love the sound effects, the music and stuff, but there's been so few games that really captured like you know, good gameplay. Yeah, and I'll say it's it's one of the best Star Wars games I've played. And as a fan of the films, like, there are a lot of those moments where it's like, this is really fucking cool. It's playing the Imperial Marchs and you're playing is Vader and forced choking dudes and stuff. It's it's cool. There are moments that are really really cool. Or if you would get a power up or something and you take control of a X Wing and you're just doing like you know, runs and killing dudes on the ground or whatever, it's really cool. Or you know, you're playing as the Rebel was taking down at a t S and that walker assault mode. There are really really cool moments in this game. Let me ask you about vehicles over real quick. You mentioned, you know, being able to fly around in various vehicles. Yeah, uh, did you get to do much of that. Yeah. I mean, you just kind of got to be in the right place at the right time and hope you get one of those vehicle power ups before someone else, you know, grabs it like battlefield. You know, you're not like running up to an next wing getting in it and taking off. Yeah, kind of just yeah, it almost like is it like more like a call of duty score like kill streak kind of things, But that's sort of how it looks like, because like it's it. It seems like even when you like become Vader, it's like you take a knee and put a hand up and then you know you are suddenly Vader. It totally feels like it feels like you're calling in like oh now I got the A C one thirty or something like that. Yeah. But the cool thing is like it's frustrating call of duty because there's so many cool kill streaks, but unless you can hang with those top players, you're probably not going to get those. So there are times that like, you know, I'm not like this savant at FPS or anything, but even if I wasn't at the top of the leaderboard, it's like, oh cool, now I get to be in this ATSD because I pick this power up, you know, before anyone else. So yeah, it totally feels like kill streak rewards that anyone has a chance to get. And like when you get those hero characters, like especially the Dark Side guys like Boba Fett is fucking awesome. H you know, Palpatine's cool, Vader is cool. Like actually, all the Dark Side guys are way cooler than the Light Side dudes. Are those on a timer? Like how long do you get to play? As? I think you just go until you die and all I'm trying to think if there's any exceptions, you just go until you die. The hero characters don't ever generating health or something like that, right, but you know, like I believe Leia and Palpatine can both kind of throw down their own health power ups. Yeah, and certain modes you will find little hero icons that and recharge your health and everything. So is it just the three heroes on each side? Yeah, it's Lukhn and Leia and then Palpatine, Vader and Boba Fett, And yeah, there are a lot of fun you know, there are a couple of modes that you know, rely specifically on them. There's one called hero Hunt towards like an eight player like Slayer match or whatever, and one person will be Han and only his kills count towards the first to twenty five or whatever. But if you kill Han, you become it's like oh, next round, spawn as Vader or whatever, and then then you can get points or whatever. So yeah, there are ways to make sure you play as the heroes, you know, side modes and stuff where you don't have to rely on power ups, and that's always fun. Is is there like a main mode in the way that like, you know, like conquest is the thing in Battlefield, Like does this have an equivalent of that or is it more kind of spread across a bunch of different stuff. Supremacy is pretty much the analog to conquests on the big large scale one. Uh yeah, it's uh, I always equated. I don't know why. I always think of war mode from Call of Duty World at War, but it's the thing where there's five points to control, but you have to do them sequences connected control points that push you. Yeah, so you're pushing forward and like if the enemy takes yours, it's like fall back, go and defend this one or whatever. It's that, but also it's got all the hero and vehicle that comes in everything, and that can lead to some really cool moments, and so can the Walk or Assault one, which is the other forty player mode, which was the one from the beta that everybody was completing results which I think the Ballot could not beat. It seemed damna impossible to win as the Rebels before, but I think they made the underbellies of the at eighties more vulnerable now because you know, I've played several times of the Rebels and One, and that's super fun because it actually does feel like there's this super ominous and surmountable thing coming at you and if you can get enough y wings to bombit and you can all kind of focus your fire on it at the same time, like you can take them down. If so, it sounds like you have a lot of like positive things about to say about this game, but like I'd also get the impression that you are not necessarily sold on it. I'm just not sold on the legs. I just think if you want to play it, if you're a big Star Wars fan and you're super excited about Force Awakens, it is a really cool game. Like if you want to rented or even by it. You know, you'll get a good twelve hours a game play out of it, at least me. I put about twelve hours when I started being like, I think I've seen what I want to see. I've put all the modes a bunch, I've done all this single player stuff, which is really limited to feel like you're done. Wait wait, wait, what is the single player stuff? So I thought the whole line about this thing was that it was kind of multiplayer only it is. I mean, there are five training missions, and those are just enough to make me want like a full campaign with this gameplay, because there's one where it's like, Okay, you're these X wings and tattooing and you gotta defend this base from all these tie fighters or whatever, and it kind of felt like an old Rogue Squader emission, which I loved drug squadtering. I'm sixty four, So yeah, it's just enough to kind of tease you like, oh, wouldn't it be cool if there was a campaign in this? Because every lift this was actually a full game. Why why do you think that is? I mean, like, Dice has got a pretty good history of putting out some very full featured battlefield games, you know, I don't know. Maybe it was just a you know, a timing thing. Maybe they just didn't Yeah, who knows how they prioritize their resources and what they had to work with. Yeah, it just seems it seems like a strange emission. Yeah, but what was the what was the split on Hardline? Didn't didn't viscerrole have? Yeah, A fair amount of roll was on the campaign, I think primarily. I think viscerroll was kind of on the whole thing. They sort of you know, there were a lot of people that said like no, no, Dice did this, I said this, and like no, we we touched every part of this game, like they definitely wanted to take credit for it, which someone had too already think like the lore of that game is like so much on Lockdown right now, That's that's a distinct possibility for sure, it'd be I mean, but you still have your you know, some main story points. You could totally pad those with, like you know, the Rebels point of view. I yeah, certains maybe so, I don't. I don't know. I mean, well, you know, the Redwoods Shores has its own Star Wars game in production, like them Amy Hittings game, and like maybe they didn't want to step on any toes with that, and I don't I don't know, that's weird. I don't know, but yeah, I don't know. Like, so that was another game that went up on EA Access, so people had their like their ten hour trial with it. I definitely saw more than a few people at the end of that ten hours just going like, Okay, yeah, I'm good, don't need to play any more of that. Yeah, it seemed like that was maybe, I don't, I don't know, like a awesome thing for people that didn't want to buy battle Front. Yeah, play as much Battlefront as you would probably want to play, yeah, and save sixty bucks. Yeah. Uh yeah, it's weird. I just don't have anything super negative to say about the actual gameplay. I mean it's all really well presented. Uh, it all plays really well. You have got more single player stuff, so there's there's like a wave based survival mode. It's like fifteen waves. You can play that alone, but it's primarily meant for two players, right, and you can do you can do these mission things split screen or online, and then you can do like Ai battles, so it's like oh Ai Battle on Hoth or Hero Battle on Hoth where you can play as a rebel hero or whatever. So there is their local split sprint split screen for like a stuff, not multi jest for those kind of It's under the missions tab. There's missions and multiplayer, the two main menu things. I gotta say, man, whatever else you want to say about that game, like watching it over your shoulder and watching some footage online and stuff like, holy shit, does it look good? Yeah, And I definitely recommend it. If you're a Star Wars fan, play it for sure. It's a cool game. I just I don't know if I would pay sixty dollars for it. I just don't think it's it's got the legs to warrant that. But but I had a good time with it. I really really enjoyed it. And you know, I think a lot of people are very much in the mood for Star Wars right now. Yeah, totally. I feel like, you know, so none of the shooters this year really kind of pulled me in on like an ongoing basis. I don't know that Battlefront will be the game either, but it like the feeling I got out of the beta was like it's just this kind of like very casual fun like it's not it's not as serious as a Battlefield game is. It's not even as serious as like Call of Duty would be. Now, it just seems like it's like, I don't know, man, grab a fucking laser gun'll shoot some guys whatever, Like it seems like be kind of cool for that for a while. Those guys are wearing that white armor from that movie, you like remember that. Yeah, I don't even like the movie, and I thought the beta was Okay, do you think it's trying to attract you know, those hardcore uh, you know, Battlefield fans and also feel like that more casual Star Wars stuff. I would think that like a Battlefield fan would probably be pretty fucking bummed out. Yeah, exactly, Like you know, they're trying to, you know, edicate to both audiences, and we got this weird thing kind of happening, and even like the existing like you know, what's left of like the Battlefront crowd would probably be pretty bummed out by what this thing is. Yeah, okay, I saw it was I think it was Eurogamer's coverage or something kind of liking it's a Golden eye of like this throwback. It's like throwback to an arrow when shooters were as complicated as the even are you see. I kind of dig that. I'm not really into first person shooters that much. But oh, Dan, you mentioned this is actually a third person mode. Likes aside from like you know, the mega characters or whatever. Yeah, if you're hold them down on the deepad, you can go in a third person. I know that doesn't appeal to a lot of people. That sounds terrible, yeah, but that I like a good third person shooter, I'll say. I like that it goes into the third person who plays the heroes and villains because it's really fun playing as Palpatine and he's like moving around super fast and basically like one of his abilities is totally just a psycho crusher. He just does this vortex like you know, dash forward or whatever. He was always doing that in the movies. That yeah, knucklehead, and they've all, you know, all the Force guys had that super floaty Force jump, you know, Vader and Luke and what a weird fan servicey thing that. Yeah. Yeah, Like that's like you're describing this moment of like Luke in Vader fighting on the ground while all this shit is going on over their head. It's like that, all right, sure, I guess that's a weird thrown likes. It sounds like a TV commercial kind of, but also just like doing stuff like you're talking about, you know, like it's like in the original movies, the Emperor to me was this guy that was like such pure malevolence that like he didn't need to do a psycho crusher because his his supportinants. We're fucking afraid to even look him in the face. You know. It's like it's like it's like you don't need to be like doing backflips and torpedoes because like, you know, that's why it was so feared already. But why what was so dumb an episode two where it's like, oh, Yoda lightsaber battle and everyone was freaking out. I remember seeing that the theaters and everyone just like cheering when Yoda got a light shut up. Usually get a cool old little dude on dad. Right, It's like it's like weirdly defying the archetypes that those characters fit into previously. You know, but that's whatever really like Emperor Palpatine. But but it's pretty it's I mean, it's it's a dumb shooter video game. So like kind of who cares? Uh, did you? That seems like the right approach, Like if you were going in like expecting like reverence to the source material, you'd you'd probably be well, I don't know how. That's that's why I like I made the comment during upf like you were talking about you thought the emotion that game were really silly and like to me. To me, that's why it was weird that that was what you got hung up on, because like, for me, everything about this game is inherently kind of kind of ridiculous. It's just kind of early self referential in a way that kind of breaks the fourth wall. Like some of the emotes, like you know, these like stormtroopers doing it like you know, I find your lack of faith disturbing, or like one of them was called like han shot first and they do the little like shoot thing, or guy's doing a little mock lightsaber battles or testing raider yells, and it's like, all right, it sounds like great fancies. Emots are the worst across the boarding, you know, it's like fucking you know, let's take some fucking dance from some fucking music video, Like how many fucking MMOs thriller dances in there. It's always like emats are always used to the worst possible thriller dance. I like scrolling through them once, checking out what they are, and I'm like, all right, that was cool. That one Destiny emote where you like fall to your knees and throw your hands in the air, seems like a really good emote to have in Destiny. I'll say that I've never heard of that game. I don't know. I'm talking if you want to do if you wanted to imply your disappointment about something anyway, did you, in your entire time in this game, did you even catch like a whiff of the prequels at all? Or is this PI? It is straight up four or five and six okay, because it's like seems to be what is done. The map that's coming out on launch day is the first like seven. Yeah, looks a lot like tattoo. That's just that, you know that that that defines everything about the Disney era of Star Wars is to like ignore everything about the prequels as hard as humanly possible. Have all this other like the cartoons and stuff that are set during the prequel era. Yeah, but those those are popular, right, but those all came to be while you know, George Lucas was still running the company. Sure, but like still forget that, like fucking jar Jar is in Infinity three, right, it's there. They're they're referencing that. I can't think of a single reference, no matter how settle to anything that happens in the prequels at any point. Huh, no character. Uh, not even like an achievement title or anything. I think they're all original trilogy. So you've even talking about legs a lot. Have they discussed much about you know, future dealc plans. So I think December they're releasing that Battle of Jaku, which right now there's only the four planets. There's a tattooine hath the Forest Moon of Indoor, of course, and they make sure to call it that. Well, I mean, it's Indoor is a planet. All the stuff that happened in Return of the Jedi and everything, like the shield and everything that was that's on the forest Moon of Indoor. I just figured that it was Indoor and it happened to be a forest move I don't know that anybody has ever actually reached consensus on that. I did some research and I was writing the review. That's terrible is there is a planet called I checked Wikipedia. Yes, Indoors a planet, okay, and you don't really see it much or hear about it. But the Forest Moon of Indoor is the famous Indoor with the speeders and all that stuff. And then there's Solist, which is only a referenced in Return of the Jedi and it exists in a bunch of you know, extended universe stuff. And then Jacko will be in December. So wait a minute, are you telling me that there are four maps in this game? There are four planets, okay, and then such just like four tile sets basically or kind of. Yeah, So like if you play Walker Assault on the Forest Moon of Indoor, it will be it'll be a different layout than if you do Droid Run. So they are also different layout for like, is it like Ridge Race your style where it's like you see similar geometry across the board, but like some pathways are open summer closed, or is it like here's an entirely new layout that is just on this same planet. I mean, Walker Assault feels like a totally different layout. I want to say that there are twelve individual maps. I believe it's three on each planet, So like one might be good for Blast, which is Team death Match, Android Run and Cargo and all that stuff, and then one might be for Supremacy, one might be for Walker Assault. You know, you don't exacparate down. It's more than just like you know, if you pick this mode, if you're getting this one. If you don't Blast, you're getting this one. So yeah, yes, and nine modes. Basically, I think they're all worth checking out at least, you know, I'd say about half of them are variants on Capture the Flag and Team death Match and and that type of stuff. And you've got a couple of those stand out like hero Hunt and Supremacy and Walk Result that are pretty unique to this. What would it take to give this game legs better progression? I think I think more investment into your character or yeah, yeah, more I could do to kind of customize my weapons, and I think that would help a lot. If it had any kind of campaign, that would be awesome because just those little tastes of those single player training missions. Man, this would be super cool if it just had even as bare bones is, like you know, Rogue Squadron type missions, like I'll protect this cruiser that's coming through and then you win or you know, go attack this thing or like a death Star trench rind or something like just some more single player stuff, because everything feels really good, especially given what like a just an insane technical show piece. This thing is just graphics are so goddamn good, Like seeing some seeing some set piece kind of action moments with that stuff would have been. Yeah, it's the best looking Star Wars game ever for sure. I'm sure they haven't said anything about this, but does it seem likely that like space battle type stuff or a more flesh out like dog fight type mode might be on the way already? Is one? Uh, there's Fighter Squadron, which that mode is all in the air, so that's all A wings's still planetary, right, like no full on space battles or anything, noing like that. And you know those those vehicles when you're flying around are cool in the context of like when they feel like kill streak rewards, but when it's the entire mode that kind of it kind of shows you. It's like, you know, this functional but unremarkable handling and kind of limited abilities. You know, it's super cool if it's like, oh man, I'm a tie fighter now, now I can do these you know runs and kill guys on the ground. But when you're just in a type fighter and everyone's got a tie fighter or next wing, it just feels like a pretty basic mode. It seems like like some of those like hey, you're flying jet missions in like a battlefield campaign or even like Call of Duty has done it where it's like you sort of feel like you're really flying, but it's pretty much on rails, right, I mean this one, I mean you're it's fully open. This is more like you're still kind of going wherever, or you go wherever. It's almost like, you know, like how Star Fox sixty four multiplayer was, where it's you know, there's just this big kind of arena area you can fly where everyone kill the other guys. You know, there's AI craft and everything there, and then there's power ups. You can be the Millennium Falcon or Slave one, and those are damn near impossible to take down. But it's just it feels super bare bones. It feels like some that'd be very hard to get really good at because there's only so many things you can do, like a couple of aid maneuvers you've got your normal blasters, you've got your homing things, and comes into the bonus thing and not like, hey, you're gonna run the entire map with this thing. Yeah, yeah, it's it's it's not a great mode. So but but then again, I really do like the vehicles when you're in the context of a larger mode, like yeah, yeah, yeah. It was an interesting review to write because it's like most of the things I have to say about the game are positive. Uh, but when it comes down to it, you know, I think I'm I think I'm done with my time there. I'll play a little bit more once it's out in the wild. But and you know what, I'm interested in playing the DLC once it comes out. You're not looking to prestige or whatever. I did not see anything like all games have that now, right, Probably I didn't see any reference to that. Uh, you know, not positive on that. But my review should be up on the site when this podcast goes live. A right, good game. Just I don't think it's a sixty dollars investment, All right, Well there you haven't. I should get access. Yeah, that thing, that thing seems more and more valuable all of a sudden, like between this and Neat for Speed, that's two games in the last month that that you didn't need a full ten hours that you guys that you guys have been like it for Speed, ten hours is like a good chunk of time with these games. How long is that? Uh? That running with the access I think it's an ongoing thing. Yeah, I think I really have your ten hours and yeah okay, yeah it says in the corner of the menu, it's like you've got ten hours, you've got eight hours left, five hours left on here. Yeah access. You know if that's the same for for older stuff like say Dragon Age Inquisition, now those games get moved into what they call the vault. Like games that are in the vault you can just play play long as you are an active member of service. Because when that started, that service launched and it was like that that applied to like sports games and Peggle, right, yeah, okay, so that sounds like that's expanded quite a bit. Yeah. They they every so often they say, hey, we this old game, no one is thinking about it anymore. Now it's in the vault. Like Battlefield hard Line just went in Oh really, yeah, didn't come out this year. Game out this year. Yeah, okay, you know it's not that long. It's not. But you know, no one is thinking about Battlefield Hard. Yes, yes, you're right. Uh games, oh man, you're talking video all right? They lost type of okay, uh huh man that I try, Like I tried to play those things, but I got a brand new baby and I got a mother in law staying with us already already it was quick. Yeah, she's she's got a few more days laught. But so yeah, it wasn't for lack of trying. I guess, like I really want to get into like you know, fall at four just came out tomb Raider, which I'm super into. But you know, for the most part, it's just like I like hanging out with that kid. Yeah, so in love with them. Like I just said, I don't want to cuddle and look at him and stuff. But but yeah, when he's sleeping and stuff, and you know, normally, like at night, I set up like a little man cave in my bedroom because you know, you know, mother in law sleeping on the couch. I don't wanted to disturb her. Sure, So yeah, I brought the Xbox and remember that hoary monitor that I got yes, making good use of that. Man, it's perfect. That thing was made for PS four, right, but does it work on anything? It's get to hd mindputs on. I thought you meant. I was so confused at the last minute, thinking that you got a hoary baby monitor. Yes, I got a hory like baby fights. Oh yeah, yeah exactly. But but he went to lizard like to swap out the parts on it. Okay, okay. Put for a second, I thought maybe you like used a hoary monitor and turned into a go on. He puts sand wat buttons in it, so it's all it's all good? Is lizards like still around? I don't know. I don't think so got to focus. That was a really poor, outdated fighting game reference all I got arts customs anyway? Uh so, yeah, I have been playing a little bit of tum Rader here and there, and man, I was just such a huge fan of that first one for real, like I loved it. There were there were certain things that could definitely be improved, and you know what, they're making good on them. They did it. Yeah, how is it? How is it better? In your eyes? Better? I think it's more fully realized, you know, as far as like you know, the general platforming, it's not as linear. They make better use of like the open world stuff. You know, it definitely gives you a reason to jump back to very like previous areas prior to that end, you know, the new game plus stuff because yeah, the tombs are a lot better. You know, you can actually explore stuff, and they might be a little one note in that Okay, I've got to figure out one way to move this one level. Yeah, a kind of super short, right, alarmingly short. Some of them are five ten minutes long. But yeah, but there's others that I'm just like, I'm racking my brain with it. So and it's super satisfying when it does, you know, work out, because they'll give you like an ability so we normally have to. The feedback loop in that game is fantastic. Like nothing you do in that game feels like you're doing it just to check off achievements or whatever, like everything, even if it's just XP that gets your skill points totally. Yeah, but yeah, the abilities to get out of those tombs are like indispensable. So I'm getting drawn in in various different ways, whether it be collectibles or tombs or just like you know, just having fun in combat, and even that's a lot better too, Like they make better use of like explosives that that you find, like you know, the liquor bottles or something like that. So they they're all over the place, and they really want you to use them, but you don't really have to, you know, they're so fun. They give you lots of other ways to to dig out enemies, whether it be stealth or grenade arrows, however the fuck you want to play it. I found myself like, like, I I'm very much like the find the two guns that I like and keep using those, yeah, person in a lot of cases. But but like, yeah, this game really encourages you to, like, like I felt like I used every tool yea frequently. They you know, you get like shotguns, rifles, pistols, and then your bow, and I found certain situations for for each of those types of weapons. There's even like the different types of arrows on the bow. Yep, you can very can turn a walkie talkie into a bomb, very versatile stuff, and that you know what that's tough to do because you know, as you said, usually in games, you find a couple of weapons that you're really good with and you just kind of stick with those. But I'm yeah, these these all seen, these all seem really good. Like it's not like super tight, uh you know, shooting controls. Yeah, it's a little sluggish in that respect. Glad it's not just me, because yeah, that's stuff. But it's still be saying like Uncharted, I don't I don't want to harp on Uncharted, but you know, it's it's tough to not make comparisons I guess to that game, and yeah, but I mean this one does a much better job of differentiating itself totally. Yeah, legs, more chasing. Yeah, there's more game in a inteam Rader than there there is an Uncharted. Yeah, I would, I would agree with that for sure. Like I like, I love watching Uncharted. I don't like, I don't like playing it so much. But uh, that's that's a whole other, whole other story. But you know what, on top of that, too, game is like fucking awesome looking. It's it's beautiful, like yeah, and I'm consistently, you know, like walking into new areas and you know, they've got really varied areas and there just kind of standing around and just going wow, wow, that looks that looks really good. Yeah, Like you walk into a new cave and she pops a glow stick and sticks it on her belt and like you get the nice little kind of shadows and like it. Yeah, really cool subtle animations like when she you know, gets out of the water and she like pulls her ponytail to like you know, get the excess water yet of it, man, tons of a little character work yet yeah, yeah, little stuff like that. Some games like really making consoles work. Yep, solid solid voice acting, like she puts on a good performance and uh, I don't know the the other guys are kind of whatever, but yeah, she doesn't really good. I found the villains were a little more interesting than in the first game. Yeah, oh totally. I just found like incidental dialogue from the guards that you were sneaking around, and like a lot of the flavor text on some of the collectibles and stuff like actually I was believable, Like when yeah, like it like went towards some really effective world building, like and you know, collectible text is like I'll tell you about that. It's just grist for the mill right when you're like you kind of thumb passed it and like get back to what you're doing. That's exactly what I did in the first time. Yeah, I got real bored with that stuff. But I'm actually a mask for you to look at it. All right, Yes, I want like I I you know, I won't. It's it's nothing super spoilery, but like the kind of the supernatural elements of this game. Uh, there's some kind of diary entries. They're basically audiologus because they're all spoken aloud, but they're all like you know, they're ancient scrolls. They're like kind a thousand year old and they're all tied into Yeah, so yeah, they tell little stories under themselves and they like they really you kind of give some interesting context to like how these like there's the supernatural stuff, but then like they go into more detail about like how would this actually affect the people who are living with it and dealing with it and stuff, and it's it's kind of cool truly. Yeah. The first game I skipped a lot of that stuff, really did, but this one, I'm I'm drawn to it. Yeah. Yeah, it's pretty interesting. Like, yeah, that game is yeah, really good and it's much better than I expect that. Yeah, I expected carbon copy of you know, the first one just you know, with some different uh set piece moments, I guess, but no, it looks like they they improved and everything that they went way above and beyond just making another one of those. Yeah, I'm impressed. Yeah, I like it a lot. Excellent. Uh, fall Out, you know, I'm trying to get into that's that's tough, one man, what's tough? What's too long? I am with you, so it really jays. Tell me why you're having a hard time getting it, Fallout, because man, there's a lot of world there. Huh, and I'm having a hard time finding it. Well, just looks all around you look for the just look for the icon that's not filled in. Walk that way. I see. I haven't even pulled up a map yet. That's how early I'm so. I just got the screen. I just got power Armor. Oh wow, you're really cool. Yeah, very very Okay, so you just did the stuff in Concord then, yep, okay, that's super early. Don't have the time to really no, no, no, no, I hold it against you. I'm just saying that I think there's definitely room for the game to expand from there. Oh. Absolutely, Yeah, And it was kind of the same way with you know a fall Out three. I wasn't into it for the first couple of hours, but I got hooked on, you know, a major storyline and then it was just like that's all that I played for like the next seventy hours of my life. So uh, and I imagine that same thing is going to happen at some point. But also I'm kind of waiting for you know how I like to play this game. It's my fucking world, man, it's my rules, yea. And I want to take off encumbrance. I don't want to fuck around with us. Yeah. Console commands, yeah, like not too many. Like I don't want to turn on like no clip or anything like that. You know, I still want to play the game. I don't want to get bogged down with a ton of the bullshit. I yes. And I also like it after a while. I like unlocking all of the areas so I could just go to where just filling every iron on the map. Yeah exactly. So you know, when you hear about, like, you know, specific towns that you could easily you know overlook, you know, in your playthrough, but if you read on the internet about one particular town that's really fucking awesome, has a great storyline. I just want to go there and just do that. You want to skip all the filler, Is that what you're saying? Kind of yeah, because the filler, you know, the minutes and minutes stuff isn't the most exciting for me. It's really cool when you kind of happen, you know, upon that stuff and discover it yourself. That's great. But I don't I don't have the time to really put into to do that. That is part of the game, and I know people totally get into that. I just don't have the time for it. Are you on PC? Yeah, these are the two console commands I've allowed myself to use. Okay, uh, encumbrance completely got rid of that, and I'm greatly enjoying that. Like, I would recommend that to anyone if you find that encumberent stuff to be asshole and also unlock yes stuff, because these are things that are not difficult. They're just a hassle. They're they're not they're just crying like some of them are beyond your current skill level. I mean you can argue that that's like, yeah, like, are you gonna spec into unlocking all the computers? Are not right, you know, so you could argue that that's built that way for a reason. But at the same time, yeah, I guess I think that's all things. That's all kind of embodied in what is that thing called the Crial later, like they tease you with like what's apparently one of the best guns in the entire game before you even get out of the vault that you can't Yeah, I get that now. Well I do a console plan and get it now. Yeah. So that's you know, after the review was done and all that other stuff, I kind of started another play through named myself fuck face because that's one of the things the robot will say, uh, which is dumb. And then yeah, I just started unlocking everything. Gave myself five hundred strength and six hundred endurance and all this other stuff, get leveled myself up to two sixty or whatever it is to buy every perk point. You just walk around with like this was walk around with the pistols to be fair, Like I use that the starting pistol for most of that game. It's, you know, as you upgrade it, it's totally effective. It's you know, you just fucking shoot people in the head. I use a ton of weapons, but that pistol was viable through the entire game. Did you put a lot into like gun net and things like that? Zero really really no already upgrading and that I'm already know. I'm already I and gun that because I want to put better stuff. I'm like, yeah, because you start finding weapons that have better things on them already. So you just find a ten millimeter pistol that just has shit on it, and you if you for whatever reason don't like that, when you can take all that but those mods off and still put them onto other that that whole yeah, that whole system is so they don't explain a lot of terrible how do you do that? Like you like if you replace a mod on a weapon with something that you can build, like that mod goes into inventory, it actually takes you wait. So you can throw like a scope from a ten milimeter pistol on too, like a hunting rifle or something. So they don't always go cross okay, uh cross weapon. But if you have like the parts, you can still assemble like the ten million of your pistol have everyone. So if you find a legendary pistol that has like a bonus perk, that you want to use. But you've been using a stock like other pistol that has some scope that you can't build. You can still take that scope off put it on your legendary one. Huh. So scrapping a weapon with a bunch of mods doesn't necessarily give you one hundred percent of the components back right, No, it doesn't give you any of the mods. It's scraping a weapon turns into steel, like you have to you have to go into the fucking upgrade thing and build the like standard site for the weapon to get the old site off right, and it goes into backwards process and it'll just say like attached instead of build if you happen to have one. And I've noticed that a lot about both the crafting and the like settlement building stuff, like a lot of the more the finer, like a lot of the nuances of doing that stuff come down to like a prompt changing very subtly that you don't notice. Yeah, it's like doesn't even explain vats. It doesn't never say hey hit l one or ob to do vats right like the For me, the thing I really got hung up on was was having settlers tending things like crops. Yeah, like like they tell you they're like all right, Like one person can manage up to six different crops at the same time. So like, at first it took forever to figure out how to assign somebody to do that. But even now, I don't think there's a way to say, like, like I just want to see a breakdown of like, all right, you have X number of crops and why people assigned to them, like a resource management screen for your settlements in that game, because like you can you know if you if you hover, if you're in the workshop view and you hover over a person and they are assigned to a task, that task will also light up. Okay. So if you're standing, if you happen to be standing near the crops while the person who does crops is near the crops, okay, and you look at the person, the crops will light up. Oh I thought you meant part of the UI would light up. You're talking about the physical objects crops, So like a turret. If somebody was saying, yeah, that's all, that's a bummer. So like I put down some guard posts and it didn't seem to increase my defense because I need to assign somebody to it. Damn it is any of that stuff fun? No, iron I think, yeah, if you're fucking around just building stuff, it is. But I think like the actual like assigning people to be its supply lines or like is said sometimes like oh are you a supply line guy? Because I don't want to take you off your supply line and put you onto this other thing, right, I don't like they're just there. Needs to be more like insight into Like I need to be able to look at a person and have it just pop up and say, this person is assigned to crops. Yeah, Like why why they couldn't have just designed a page on your pipaway that breaks all that stuff down into columns and numbers. Yeah, or just let me find a person's name on the list and just say like you're on crops, you're on this, you know, and just and just build that stuff that way. Like I put my guard posts all the way at the beginning, like by the bridge of Sanctuary Hills, because I figured that's where the raiders would come from. So when I wanted to assign a guide to one of those things, I had to find him. Yep, like initiate the give this guy a command process then sprint all the way across Sanctuary Hills until I can get to those guard posts and actually hit the button. Yeah, there's some stuff that they like. One of the items you can build is a bell that makes all the settlers come when you ring the bell. So theoretically you could fucking weird drag all the settlers to the bell and then assigned tasks. I guess it's still kind of satisfying though, to like, you know, build a generator than build a recruiting radio tower thing and some turrets and see all those numbers for the different values go. Yeah, I thought that, Yes, the numbers get higher, and as we all know, that's what makes video games good. So like that, that part of it I think is fine. Well, I mean yeah, like a lot of it. And some of the NPC's have made some oblique references to like, well, the more your settlements are developed, the more the miniment will help you, or something like that, And I don't know exactly how that manifests, but you can shoot like a flare gun. I just got that. Yeah, So I think that's you know, if you have more settlements around, then you will have like the flare gun will work better. And I don't know. I never needed the flare guns. I never even shot it. But you get a few things like that that you can used to call in kind of different factions or whatever to help you out. And like people find scrap, right, like they find resources for anyone that's not assigned will find scrap. Also, you can build a scavenger station and assign someone to that, and I think that will lead to them finding more scrap. I don't know, I don't know. Okay, Like we we got a little bit of feedback last week after you were saying there's no like tangible benefit to the settlement stuff, and people going like, why can't building the settlements be its own reward? But like, to me, that stuff is it's not inherently fun. Yeah, I think if people get into that, then fine, absolutely, I'm not I'm not saying that like there's zero value to that. I just like that stuff was not fun at all because it was it was very janky, you know. It's just like, Okay, I want to build all these walls. Oh wait, why is this wall floating off the ground? Why is these crops not attached to the ground. This corner isn't actually attaching to the walls I made or yeah, yeah, there's just a lot of jankies. I mean whatever, it's it's a jakie fucking game, you know, like you're seeing all types of people. I've et all kinds of fun stuff. My favorite bug happened to me yesterday. I was sprinting down the street of Cambridge and I just died. Like literally, it just cut to the third person death animation apropos of fucking nothing. No traps nearby, no enemies on the radar, like nothing, not no sniper shot out because I reloaded. I'd ought to save like ten seconds before that, so I reloaded the save and like scoured the area to try to figure out what killed me, and there was nothing there. Literally just died spontaneously. It was amazing. My girlfriend is playing and she did a mission for Preston Garvey and then when she went back to Sanctuary to turn it into him, he was completely submerged underwater in a river and she could not swim down there. And wow or whatever, let's work for that. He just doesn't do anything to you. You can. Yeah, yeah, it's you know, it's one of those games and it's so it is it's fucked up in all the ways those games always have, and either you're into that or you're not. If we had had this conversation at this time yesterday, I would have been very down on this game. But then I did some stuff last night. I feel like this game does itself a disservice, or maybe you're doing yourself a disservice if you play it like a Bethesda game, which is to say, you get out of the vault, like you know, every Bethesta game has that moment where you come out of your starting area opening moment. Yeah, it's like wait, like, now here's the world. Coming out of the vault and fall at three I think was probably still the best one, but like Skyram had a similar good one out of the right. Yeah yeah, so like, yeah, you come out of the dungeon, you come out of the vault, and fall at three, you come out of the Burning Village and Skyrim like whatever, like it's always on top of a mountain and you can see from miles or whatever. Yeah, and it's supposed to imply like the infinite possibility of the world. Right. Yeah. So when I went and then immediately did ten hours of just like exploring the areas around Sanctuary, like just to try to find some stuff. I start feeling like the world is like incredibly empty and kind of soulless and there was just nothing there to find. That part of town, that part of the map is not a lot of action. Is that the case, because like that I'm willing to accept that, and like and all the civilization stuff is further south, so you know, yeah, so you know, if you want to see blown up buildings and fucked up shit like that, it's south. So that's when changed it. Like the Glow Sea, like that was the whole right, Like I have no idea what that like. So like it's my entire experience to fall Out four so far has been like three quarries or like or like kind of gravel pits. Like two were three car junkyards, a factory, a couple of like empty towns, and then I finally met the Brotherhood to steal awesome. But like I was clearing out, you know, cleared out of radar, hide out, clear out of the factory, like what have you. Yeah, and like you come out of it with like slightly better stuff because your level is going up. So of course they're going to drop better things for you as your level goes up, but like no like found diaries, no narrative, no recordings, like nothing to give the world any kind of like lived in feel, you know. And yeah, like the precious games like follow three there there were all those special towns and they each had their own story. Yeah, like Followed three in Sky like all their games. I feel like I have been really good at doing that, but this one, like and again maybe it's just a part of the towns in this game though, when you get to the Diamond City and so like straight up just civilized areas that happens. So that's exactly happened. That's exactly where I was going with this. Like I was feeling like profoundly disappointed in just the quality of the world designed in this game, and I was like, well, I should fucking go to Diamond City and see what's up there before I totally write this game off. And then like my place completely evaporated as soon as I out there, because you immediately meet all these characters and like, oh, here's Mega Ton Like it was literally Mare's the thing. Maybe that's the difference is that they they right there, they funnel et to Mega Ton and like the first hour of Fallout three and and like I said, I put like ten hours into this building, crappy settlements, you're own Mega Ton, I guess you can't. But but that's the thing, like like okay, it was just like this. It was this huge release of walking around that place and like like you pick up quests just from incidental dialogue again, like you ever hear people saying things and you immediately have like four more quests, and like I got like three named like story quests and like and there's all this intrigue going around going on now about like maybe some of the people in this town are robots but I don't know, And there's all this paranoia and fear they get at me green paint for that guy green paint. No one wants green paint. It's the guy that wants some green paint. I guess I didn't. I basically got there and saved and I brought that guy green paint. But but but I'm like excited to see what you're talking about now, Like I feel like finally playing the real fall Out four after like trying to play it aimlessly, and then this is encouraging and things get far more raw town like in terms of just like combat scenarios, like shit is fucked up, Like there were multiple times, especially where you're at about that ten hour mark, but maybe before that, because I went to Diamond City a lot earlier than you did, where just you're in the combat situations that are fucked that you were just running the fuck away because it's just like, oh, there's nine raiders and three dogs and two super mutants fucking all fight each other, and the whoops, I'm in the middle of fuck this was there's just a lot of bad scene. That was another thing I like I ran into on the way to Diamond City. I ran into like some of the city security forces fighting some super mutants. I just ran in there and helped them out and killed the super mutants and then they were all thanking me for it and stuff, and it was like, man, this feel okay. The world feels like it's alive again. Like yeah, there's stuff here, Yeah there's you know, yeah, it has that stuff and like the stuff you expect from the previous games in there, and like the intrigue in the city of the Mayor, Like I ran into the Mayor and I don't know if this triggered just because I walked up, or if this would have happened without me there or what. But like the mayor was in the middle of giving a speech trying to vince the town that he's not a robot. Yeah, and I was like, all right, there's some crazy stuff going on. So I met the mayor like the first Like upon walking into Diamond City, there's like a thing that happens with eighty Okay, I that too. Okay, the mayor was like right inside at that point, you read the newspaper articles she wrote about the thing that happened to the noodle wrestlers. Yes, I read that's a cool thing. Yes. Finding that stuff, I'm like, finally, this is what I'm looking for. Yeah, there's a little bits and pieces, but it's they it seems like they cluster that stuff up in areas where you're likely to find it, like actual quests and stuff like that, Like I found a hollow tape. The only I'm trying to think about scenarios that are not tied to quests that make the world feel lived in. I can only think of one so far, really, and it was there's like it was just it was a ranger cabin and there's a skeleton a lady's body in it, and she's got some hollow tape about like confront about telling her father about something and it going horribly wrong and she had to escape to the ranger cabin. Yes, I remember that. I found that that's a new sanctuary. Yeah, so yeah, so I I found that. That's it. Uh that and finding the supermutants orders on them, which wouldn't that's pretty good. That's that's pretty good. But like I ran into a robot kind of similar that. It's a different type of robot. It looks more like a Sputnik or something than like the CODs a Worth like Butler robot. But it was like it was just playing a message on repeat, like trying to recruit people to some like like polytechnic lab or something. And like that added a quest of my log when I heard that at the c I T place maybe that wouldn't be this was this this one under like my miscellaneous category. So it wasn't even a big story thing. But just like stuff like that, I just want to run into stuff. Yeah I didn't. I didn't end up spending like I went to Diamond City to kind of pick up the first quests and there's there are reasons to go back there and stuff like that, but I didn't spend a lot of time. Okay, that's that's good. That's good to hear. That's my go to hub. That like aftermissions when I just need to, like I want to sell ship or whatever, like, I go back there. Like you can buy that home plate thing, which is like a story house, And that's where I've used the kind of like making stuff workshop stuff the most, because you can decorate and put up paintings and uf and get a little bbobleheads sand for all your bubbleheads, or a magazine rack and put all your magazines in there and display them. Sounds cool. Yeah, I got a disco ball that goes around. I put a nuke Cola machine, Like you can do some fun stuff like I just did. I did all my stuff in Sanctuary, so I would just warp back there every time to store all my junk in little shop. And there's no one to sell stuff to you there. But I never saw anything. I never needed to. Homeplay just feels like more of a house you can do stuff with, whereas in Sanctuary it's like, well, these are all ruined houses, or I can build some shitty thing out of metal time. I put a bubblehead stand in where my kid's crib used to be, but I turned that crib into fucking wood because man, I did not haven't had the heart to touch Sean's room. I go into Sean's room and dump all the like Jangles, the moon Monkeys and board games in case I ever find him. There's nuclear material in those board games. Stop like starts strap board games. Man, Oh shit, really yeah, you need that for fucking wild ses. Oh shit? Ied to go get all those Yeah, what do you guys do to deal with rads? Because I mean, I know there's yeah radiations away. So I ended up specking in a direction to get to I ended up specking in that direction. But that's what I was thinking about. Problem because because man, like I've found maybe ten right away the entire game. Oh man, I never ran out, I but I so eventually is there something Maybe there's someone in Diamond City that can do this. But I found a vendor that just like you pay them forty caps, they eliminate all your radiation. There's that exact guy that sounds useful. There's a doctor in Diamond City that does it. And there's also I think if you've done the railroad stuff, there's a doctor and kind of their base in the church that I didn't go to either of those, but there there are doctors out there, so you could. Actually it's one of the things that if you end up putting two points into the local leader perk, you can actually start building first aid stations your settlements, so you could, theoretically, I think, put that person wherever you want. Do you still have to pay when you go do it? Thinks? Okay, yeah, because you have to like invest in Yeah, it's like you have to pay five hundred caps to even get the store off the ground or something that's like yeah, there's and then you have to sign a person to it. So yeah, don't do that. Just fast travel to the place where the person is, yes, and then sit through like three load screens to get to the Yeah that's yeah. The one I was going to it was behind a lot of loads, so every time I had to go get rid of radiation. It was actually kind of a pain the ass. Yeah you know that's that. I So, yeah, planted on PC without giving a fuck. I think is actually the fun way to play that game. I playing the game as they designed it is where you're going to run into most of the I've become encumbered like a dozen times and just had to like, all right, well can I drop to get me just under so I can fast travel back and dump all the junk. But then when I do that, it's like, Oh, that didn't account for as much weight as I thought it would. Guess I'm gonna have to get rid of everything else. Did you switch to PC? I know you're not. Oh, man, I probably should. I really extra should. After yesterday, like I shot man, I went to like two or three of the places that are notoriously like the worst frame rate areas on the console. Ye, the fact of Assembly Plant or whatever it might have been the first, the first point in the game where I was like what the fuck is going Like, that's the one that's the one wondering what's actually happening. That's the one everybody's using for frame rate tests and stuff, because that's where it's like dipping below twenty on the consoles and stuff. In areas that did just doesn't look like it like ears, Yeah, there's like nothing's like major going on there that like yeah, every time the frame rate would hit in that area, and in a lot of the indoor areas. Yeah, the specifically was never anything there that I would like looked at and went like, oh, well, naturally it's gonna be dude like, like, frankly quite the opposite, Like there are parts of those indoor areas that I looked at and thought like, this looks barely a step up from a three sixty game, and it's running at a twenty frames second, Like what is going Like when I would reload my gun, like that animation seemed to just like as soon as that gun filled the frame, the frame rate went down. Well, I'm starting to do missions were like I'm in Inverted Bird with a mini gun and the draw distance is pretty far. I was thinking, like is that really bad? Pretty bad? Yeah, that is pretty bad on console in terms just like the quality of lighting you see, yeah, and the fog, Like there's just a draw distance issue at that, like a level of detail issue, like it's it's and the frame rate is it's not easy to hit targets right in the console versions of that game. It's just weirdly uneven because like when you step back and look at the landscapes, like with the things they've done with the like the dynamic weather is fantastic, like the lighting time of day stuff, Like the landscape stuff looks really nice, but up close, like when you get right up on surfaces and in subway tunnels and stuff like it really starts to break down will look pretty nasty. Yeah. Uh, clean faces mod is out. Those only for ladies. Oh well, and I think which was how it was on Skyrim as well. Now think that it makes the faces clean clean as in as in not smudged up or dirty because some people are sickos and they like their girls to have clean faces. They like them, they like them bathe. I don't know, man, People are fucking weird. Yes, people make all kinds of fucked up mods from you, you mean, like actual like dirt that's supposed to be there, not like hey, we're gonna make the graphics better by cleaning them up, Like yeah no, no, they want them literally bathed, like like actually characters that are supposed to look dirty and bocalyptic. Like I don't fucking know, man, that's weird. Yeah, it is very weird, but at the same time, like that's kind of the magic of THEESTA games is that they let everybody be about as weird as they want to be. Everyone gets to fix the game. You can kind of do whatever the fuck you want. Do they have any like enhanced texture packs? Oh yeah, some people have done, like I guess, like different shaders are like hey, I'm gonna we're gonna raise the contrast and stuff like that. But I don't know that there's been a ton of Actually I did. I did see some like here's our seamless texture pack. Okay, so they're like people do that sort of stuff for the previous games, So it seems reasonable that people would do stuff like that. I think it'd be fun to just go through and do a full vo pass for the player character, like it's not enough out of voice pack. Yeah, I wonder if you I wonder if you could extract all the lines from the game and text format such that you could easily just sit there and I wonder, Yeah, that would be super fun. Just do it yourself. Yeah yeah, yeah, just do the dialogue, like especially when you're like you're buttoning past their fucking dialogu because it takes too long and they inserted your character, going yeah, okay, all right, shut up. Kind of stuff just being able to record those you're like fucking stop, just fucking stop talking, stop talking stop. Oh you you're talking about ad libbing to dialogue. Yeah, that's even better. That would be great. Every play have MLB the show where you could record yourself and that would be the crowd Chance. I didn't actually do that, but I did that. They did. They find a way to layer your voice enough times they would like a crowd. Yeah, they You could do like the Chance stuff, and you could also do like I think, individual heckles and stuff. That was pretty just kind of just come out of the crowd, you know, right, But but you know you need like needed. It's not like thousands of people were chanting. Pretty sure, did that? Yeah? Ok, yeah, yeah this game, Jason, stick with it? Oh, I totally will. Yeah. I gotta block off some time though. Yeah, I need some like quality time with Fallout. It. It just it seems like a game where you're better served, Like this seems counter to their philosophy usually, but it seems like you're served well by following the main story thread for a good number of hours. Okay, I kind of meander quite a bit, like I've but I think out of the gate. It makes sense to like do the first like set of things they ask you to, like at least make it to Diamond City, because that's when they start setting up like the weird animosity towards synths and like kind of start giving some flavor to the world that is missing. Yeah, I definitely I did not go right to Diamond City. Like I got to the point. I very quickly got to the point where they said, hey, you should go here, and then didn't right for a good long time. That's what I've been sort of like you did, yeah, and then got to a point where it's like, well, I'm gonna go check that out, I guess, because it's just more fucked up farms and broken down cabins and ship out here, So I guess I'll head that way. Maybe that's my design. Maybe they want you to feel like you're starting the world. But then as I started getting closer and closer to it and it started becoming more city like than it was, like, Okay, I'm gonna explore around here a little bit, and that's when I discovered, like, it's fucked up out here, I should actually probably just go to the town. Sure. Yeah, I had not been to Diamond City when we recorded the quick look, and as soon as you went in there, it's like, oh, I should probably fast track this and go there. It looks like there's vendors and stuff to do here. Definitely feels like it opens up the legendary loot stuff. Also, I feel like it goes a long way. Uh, there's some interesting there's some interesting perks. I didn't see anything. All the stuff that I got when I played through on US four was shit. I mean, even if it's not super incredible though, like just for there to be any differentiation in the loot at all, because like like some Fallow three in Skyrim suffered from that problem, right of like just getting the same You need that durability purposes, Yeah, you just certainly. But like you know, like like in Skyrom, like it got to the point where and if I wasn't getting like the data like weapons, I didn't want it, you know, right, Like I want the unique, cool, best stuff or fuck off. So this game kind of like gives you that without having to go find like the named weapon or whatever, you know, right, Yeah, It's like it's like, oh, I killed legendary rad roach and got this gun that's got a star on it and does this like it was nice. I found a submachine gun that set dudes on fire. Wow, yeah, because you know it was like you only did fifteen points of damage. But it was actually really nice. Fighting stealth to guys, Yeah because you can see it because yeah, you can see the fire. Oh sure, Okay, so you just kind of hit him once and just kind of as long as you're hitting him every few seconds, you know they will never escape. I had a weird bug where I had to I had to climb this tower and then I had to fight this invisible guy up there, and I was a quest thing. I did something that was like in his brain or whatever, and he goes invisible when the fight starts and I started shooting him with the shotgun. All of a sudden, I couldn't find him anywhere, and I didn't see any like objective indicators or anything. Turns out I had knocked him down, like there's like a little shaft or whatever in the middle of the area. He had fallen like three stories down, and I couldn't get to him to get whatever it was in his brain. I had to reload an old save cool. Yeah, but it was invisible. So it's like, I know, he just disappeared all of a sudden, and then someone pointed out to me that, like, oh, he's all the way down there. It's you know, it's reasonably good about auto saving, which which it needs to be. I quick saved constantly. Yeah, it's good to hear. That's on the console. Quick saves get deleted after a while or there those permanent. No, they're permanent. Okay, weird, So what's the difference, Like they are just saves. Yeah, they're just saves. It's just wave faster. You could do. Well, you only have one quick save slot, right, So it's like, oh, so every time you quick save it replaces the quokay I was thinking. I saw, like every time it auto saves, it replaces the auto save. Does it the only hard saves or when you hard save? I'd swear on the console you had multiple auto saves stacked up when I went to load. I could have sworn it. Maybe it was last I want to say, last three years something. But okay, okay, that's good enough. All right, that's good. But I never had to do the only time I really like made deliberately made hard saves is when I was very clearly at like forks in the story or it was like, well, if I want to see how this plays out the other way, this is where I need to have my save. Uh. Yeah, I probably got like thirty hard saves I think. Yeah, I ended up with like twelve or something by the time the game was done. I don't save ever. Yeah, that's yeah, that's right hardcore. Of course, I already did the thing where I saved on a speech check. Yep. Oh yeah, saves coming your way. But I don't know if it's worth it. It's not enough of a pain in the ass to reload over and over pretty quick on PC. Probably switched, yeah, I guess, And you're I mean, you're right. You were absolutely right. Like I was looking at like footage of the PC version this morning and just I don't ever really have saves longer than like four or five seconds. There are some there are some parts of that game that are kind of night and day between the consoles and the PC. I believe it's it's startling in some case, do you guys do a mass keyboard or controller controller and do an Xbox one controller? The mass and keyboard just didn't seem great for a lot of the menu nav and and a lot of the took some getting us where. It felt like they were having you drive a console interface with a mouse, if that makes sense. Yeah, yeah, it's not ideal. I think it's a lot better for shooting. I like, I started playing it with the controller and then quickly, yeah, switch to mass keyboard. This is super nit picky. But I changed my UI to like an amber color like New Vegas, okay, And they don't account for that with speech checks, because an easy speech check is a yellowish color, and like it's almost impossible to see. That's why I changed to my colored blue. However, that's right, I remember you mentioning now that checks for me being color blind. Some of them just faded right into the default color as well. It's it's it's a bummer they don't account for this, Like for a large part of the game, I didn't actually realize that that's what that was, meaning that, like, oh, there's a color difference here, right, Also, that's one of those things that they you know, they I did see them pop it up in the upper left corner. I saw it on the PC when I went and played that version. After playing through all the way through PS four. I did not. I don't remember seeing that little tip on PS four. It's one of those things where it's like the game can be so flaky, you know, but also it's one of those things that you could miss. So it's like I don't maybe it didn't show up. Maybe I missed it. I don't know either way. Hard to say. It's hard to trust that game. Yeah, because of the way it behaves. Sure, that's that's sure. I can see that. It's that's maybe it's biggest problem. Like, yeah, you're constantly sitting back and like asking yourself like was that supposed to happen that way or something? Just I need to reload? Is this actually gonna break? I can't tell anymore. Something weird happened, And maybe that's okay, maybe it's not. I don't know. It seems okay now, But if I keep playing, maybe I'm gonna lock myself into a set of saves where something's just irreparably fucked. Yeah. Yeah, multiple moments like that for me playing through the game. Yeah, but yeah, uh and then they shipped twelve million copies that game. Yeah, damn so shipped though. Yeah, I'll probably be fine they straight up put that release out a couple of days after launch, like just for all the people wondering. Like it's kind of like what Lang was talking about last week. You know, it's like it's one of those like pure capitalist situations of like the market will determine whether this is still acceptable. I guess what. Oh yeah, I don't think this is the game where they're going to change their minds. Yeah, you know, it's about their technology. On one hand, you wish that people would have higher standards because it would mean better things for everyone, But I do whatever. It's there are still plenty of fucking awesome things in that game. Oh yeah, no, I mean it's still for as fucked up as it can be, especially on consoles, like it's you know, it's still doing things that other games don't do. It still allow you a freedom of play style that you don't really get anywhere else. I freedom of play styll. Maybe not because it's well when you account all the things that you can like pick up and move around and and just yeah, the way that stats play into different things, yeah, and stuff like that. But you know, it's like the way that story plays out feels like less than ever tied to like your stats. Yeah, I believe that, like as they seem to have like some kind of muted aspirations for it being a little more cinematic. Like I say, it's coming my way through the final speech checks in the game to persuade my way through, and it did not. I said it in the review, like the ending to that game didn't wrap up the way that it seems like it should and could. Like it's one of those things where it's like the writing seems to be heading in a very like clear direction, but like then all of a sudden, it's like, no, no, we're forcing you in one of these paths, like pick one now, but we're forcing you down one of these Like you think you've got options, but guess what, no, you totally And I can't say that with one hundred percent certainty because like maybe there's some weird option on the other end of this thing and maybe this and I haven't seen every ending, so but it's it just feels very mechanical. Are there a lot of points before that? Like I know you said in the review that like you kind of have to side with certain factions at certain point points. Yeah, Yeah, it's like do you feel like you're locking yourself out of large constance. There are definitely points where, like, you know, the first time it happened, it actually did pop up and say, hey, if you if you do this thing that you're you're hitting the button on, just no, it's going to make this faction hostile to you for the rest of them. So it does that the first time that happens, but not there are other points in the game that where that does happen and it doesn't give you that courtesy, which is weird. But anyway, it's uh, it's uh, you know, you have that thing there and you could then theoretically play out the rest of a faction quest line if you wanted to before making that faction style, so if you're not necessarily stumbling into it, yeah, like yeah, yeah, the first time it happened, it definitely felt like I was not stumbling into it, okay, right, And then after that it's it's there are straight up missions like you basically get you you have missions in that game that are directly contradictory, you know that are just like you can you have I was at a point where I had like multiple steps whereas like I could do this or this, and it's pretty clear even though it doesn't pop up and say, hey, this is gonna happen, Like the nature of the decision is such that it's gonna affect the other. It's doing one of these one of these, you can't do the other. Okay, all right, so huh. You know they're better about it than they have been in previous games. I'll say, all right, I'm glad this game is coming together, at least for me for my personal experience. Like it was feeling dicey there for a while, starting to feel like one of those games again. Yeah, that's a good feeling. It is. It is one of those games, one of those top to bottom in and out. Man. Sure they just you can build stuff now if you want. Yeah. Yeah, uh does anybody care about StarCraft? Here? I'm gonna talk about StarCraft. I like StarCraft? You like StarCraft? Do you? Yeah? I didn't be thought you were. I thought you were on the command conquer side. I mean that's I'm played way more command my life. But yeah, I've played StarCraft one and I didn't play hard of this farm. That's the only one I haven't really Okay, Yeah, I want to hear about that I've got some games that no one will care about also to talk about. Let's get started, talk about Dan Cares. So that's good. Yeah, Scraft didn't that much. Okay, well you're making progress then, uh yeah, the new one protest expansion Likegacy the Void is out. It is silly, It is ridiculous in a way that I have like stopped taking seriously at all, and I'm having way more fun with now, if that makes sense. Yes, Like I've kind of accepted what StarCraft is going to be from this point on and I'm just going with it. Like there's none of them. There's none of the like kind of the more personal stuff from the old StarCraft Grove war of like kind of factions moving against each other, you know, and it's like like there's some real good drama in old StarCraft right of Like it's like, oh, like Karagan header humanity kind of forcibly ripped from her, and like, oh, Minsk is actually a giant fucking asshole and betrayed you, and like, you know a lot of big, sweeping dramatic stuff and then this thing is like ancient evil and ancient artifact and ancient prophecy and you know, trying to purge the galaxy of all life. So let's stop him. Yeah, you know, let's get together, let's just join force. Right, but it's powers combined, right, But it's you know, it's just real boilerplate like you know, there's an ancient evil, bad guy and he must kill everybody, so let's not let him do that. You know, there are all the factions up against him. Yes, basically really, so that's uh, I'm trying to think when did they really roll that stuff out? You said you played the Taran one. It seemed like the Zird campaign that the Desert campaign was really like, oh, hey, I guess that's when that stuff comes in. But I mean start to see with okay, you start to clearly see it's heading in that direct. I guess, yeah, you're right, you're I'm trying to think back because I mean, that thing culminates more with an end suit kind of Karragan's story and her animosities Hoard makes in the humans. But but I guess the ancient alien stuff does pop up. They're a good bit. Yeah, yeah, you're right, You're right, that stuff is totally there. But I remember, didn't Wings of Liberty have some missions in between they started introducing yeah, yeah, so like the little Prodost mini campaign in the middle of Wings of Liberty was the first introduction to that stuff, and yeah, and they start teasing it more. But in this thing, it's just full on, like just real adolescent style, you know, just like big bad guy ancient prophecy, like let's go get this stone that will apparently cure everything and then fuck him up, you know, like it's not is it the keystone? It is the keystone? I have the keystone. Oh man, you want to hang out and you want to hang out later, we gotta get we gotta hang out. You got the keystone? Crack a few yeah mo par but they go they go like full on like Dragon ball Z with some of the stuff, Like like I was telling Jeff in the Quick Look, there's there's one cut scene in Heart of the Swarm where there are two characters who both shoot energy beams at each other and the beams just meet in the middle, and there's two colored energy beams just ramming into each other, and like the the dividing line between the two like waivers back and forth, trouble and a little yeah, as each one exerts their will a little harder. So this game is like nothing but that like just ridiculous fight scenes with characters like flipping through the air and teleporting behind each other and stabbing each other and like cutting off things and like crazy space battles and just like everything is the highest possible stakes it could be, and it's like it's it's dumb and fun, if that makes sense, Like it's not. I kind of stopped expecting it to be what StarCraft used to be. But these are just the cinematics you're talking. Yeah, yeah, I mean I'm like, yeah, well, actually there is good They work the story into the campaign. There are actually a couple of moments where like, weirdly in the middle of an RTS sequence in a mission, like it pulls out to space and you see a little cut scene your thing happen. It's crazy. Yeah the battle, Yeah, that only happens a couple times real briefly, it's not it's not something they do often. So it's not like those guys are actually shooting energy beams at each other like on the bat Not so much. No, No, it's more like all the really crazy stuff. How fucking cool would that? That would be pretty? That would be pretty good. But now most of the crazy stuff happens in it, like straight up FMV cut scenes, you know, Okay, like even the game cut scenes are mostly just characters standing there talking to each other for the most part. But yeah, you know, it's it's a lot of space magic and dumb shit, but it's But it's been really fun so far. And I keep hearing from people that it goes in a really ridiculous crazy direction by the end, and I think I might know what that direction is, and that seems really stupid, but I'm having a lot of fun with it, so I kind of just campaign if you touched the multiplayer at all. We did that little co op stuff in quick Look, which seems kind of the ladder. I played one unranked match yesterday and immediately, like the other guy playing Taran just wheeled out a Marine Marader medic deathball like you saw in the first year Wings of Liberty, and I was like, maybe I'm done, Like I didn't tech to counter for that, like immediately, because I haven't played multiplayer Starkraft in like two years, and it's like, oh shit, I needed Blink and Charge already to deal with the ship. And I just gged out immediately as soon as I saw him coming. Have you touched any of the tournament structures? No, that stuff seems awesome if you're into that stuff, Like I don't think I can get back into like one v one StarCraft is such a stressful thing to play, Like I don't think I need that in my life anymore. But yeah, the way that they've got these rolling daily, like in fact, like hourly tournaments now, d have you have you read it on that stuff? Like no, no, just from the quick look that it seems like something that could be adapted really well to like fighting games and stuff too, where like you, oh, that's right, you were watching that. Like you sign into the game and like immediately there's like this little promo unit that says like like, hey, there's a three round one v one tournament starting in forty eight minutes or whatever, and these things apparently refresh like every three hours or something, and yeah, you can go enter into them, and like they have a bunch of weird rules on top of them, where like the matches can only be twenty five minutes long, and like if you go to the time limit, then it's scored by decision by like points based on different things you did, and that stuff's kind of unseen as far as like the points. I think, so I haven't tried it, but I believe that stuff is sort of hidden but not really interesting. But I guess there's like, you know, there's persistent standings like leaderboards for your performance in these tournaments, and you build like rep or experience points or something by winning them, and yeah, like what the reward is they go on your profile. There's like there's kind of a just a match history sort of thing, you know. Yeah, even even so, I really like, you know, structured, you know, competitive stuff like that. Yeah, it's a really cool Like a friend of mine who actually played through some of it said, it's like you're getting kind of a little baby esports experience. Anytime you do one of those things. It's like super quick and limited and I was only going to take you like an hour and a half or something. But it's it's a really neat idea to like kind of breefe some life back into that stuff. I've also heard some really good things about the ARCon Mode, which I thought sounded like just a straight up throw away thing. I don't know if you guys know what that is, but it's like two players control the same base. It is literally it is literally two v two multiplayer, but yeah, with only one base per side, so both people on a team just get full control of every building and unit on that side. And my friend that was playing it said, like he the way he did it with somebody he played it with was like one person handled just building the base, economy stuff and cranking out units, and the other guy just handled controlling those units and fighting. But like he said, it basically allows you to I didn't even consider this when I looked at this thing because it sounded just like a like a dumb gimmick. But it allows you to explore parts of the meta game in this game that you don't have, like the dexterity and the mental kind of capacity to do by yourself, if that makes sense. So like you can see what the other team is doing, and you like you know what tech you need and how to build toward it, and what units you need to build, but like you don't have if you just don't have the APM and the mental presence to do it all yourself. But when it's split across two people, you can actually handle that. It's the Pacific rim of real time str exactly. Yes, I don't even thought about that. That's really dumb. But yeah, like the idea of like not only understanding the like the counters two various strategies, but actually being able to like execute them effectively sounds super cool and it actually makes me want to feel like, you know, if you're if you're voice chatting and stuff like that, so you're not spending wasting time typing or anything like that, then you're just like you know, you're exploring and go like he's got this, he's got this, he's got this, and the other person's just instantly starting to build because they probably also know what the counters are, right and they can do that. Yeah, like that sounds awesome, Yeah for sure. And then the campaign's fun. It's uh, it's kind more of the same. Like every mission has its own unique mechanic, you know, like they've done. Ultimately, when you peel back the layer of like well there's a there's a laser beam constantly moving around this map that you have to avoid or like whatever time or stuff they've got in there, Like ultimately, it still all breaks down to like, you know, kill the other guy's base or get to this point on the map or whatever, you know. Like, it's pretty simplistic, but it's fun. Like it's put together really well. The like ability unlocking stuff in between missions is the best it's been so far. It's a lot more flexible than it was. Uh, it's a good thing. It's a good like, it's a good StarCraft products by the base. It's forty dollars. Well, no, it's a standalone. Actually you don't even have to own any other stuff. You can just buy this thing for forty dollars. Part of the farmers that way too, right, Yeah, it's yeah, we'll see where the story goes. I don't know how that stuff is gonna break down, but especially because there's like a little three mission epilogue campaign that you can see on the menu screen, and I don't know what that's going to be. Uh, it's subbing the seeds for StarCraft three. Maybe, I don't know. Man, Can they make another RTS anytime soon or ever? Yeah? I don't know, or would they? I mean, you know, RTS like kids, the resources that were spent making StarCraft is the best thing to do with those resources in twenty fifteen, make StarCraft like when they announced StarCraft two and like oh eight or whatever, it was like fucking yeah, like RTS is back, StarCraft is back, Like this is happening. Let's do it about time. Yes exactly, it was about time. But then yeah, like what seven years later or whatever, it feels like it's just all kind of petered out again. And yeah, and just look at the rest of the landscape for RTS games like das like failed attempts to turn See and See into a free to play thing, and you know, just like like what were those games that you were playing, Dan, There's like a great goot like great goo existed? Is I mean, Greg, it was cool, but it seems like it existed primary I was like a throwback like deliberately like hey, we're trying to make like a Command of conqueror. Yeah. There also one called the Active Aggression, which is pretty much the exact same like hey, remember and then uh, star Rock has got something else? Uh is it Ashes of this Singularity? I think is another one that's like kind of going for the CNC thing. I might be wrong about that, but it's not like there are RTS is being made, but they're not like they're not making a huge impress you know, and like the way that esports has gone and like Mobia's rule the world online now. And it's just like, I mean, to make a fast paced like esports friendly RTS at some point is to just make a Moba, right, I guess you know That's that's how that thing originated, was at RTS mod So like, I don't think anyone wants to go back to watching slow ass full on RTS matches, But what is a fast paced what is they s? Super fast paced? They did speed it up in this game. They did. We talked about that in the Quick Look some like they the economy is such that they give the match matches move and get started a lot faster. There is that, And I actually like from for my money, like, I still the best competitive StarCraft I've ever watched was still better than the best competitive TODA I've ever watched, because there's way more room for There's way more room for players to like exploit the mechanics in weird ways that you would never expect. You know. It's like, oh, they hit a building here that lets them do this thing that nobody's ever thought of before. Yeah, Like I've always felt like competitive mobis are more about like really solid execution, sure, playing the game really well, as opposed to like breaking it and doing weird stuff. But anyway, if they were to make another RTS, it would be probably a warcraft right, Like, just at the moment when Wow is starting to kind of backslide, movie out, I don't know did they say they say for sure next year or anything like that. I don't know when it's coming out. Actually, did you think about it? I don't feel like the response to that trailer was not especially positive, but I don't, well, you know what, what do you expect fucking CGI or like that stuff looked bad? Yeah, and also it's a fucking fantasy movie that is not Lord of the Rings, so at some point that but might as well be or whatever, right, I mean, you know it's a video game movie. Yeah, it's core, Like, come on, it's a video game movie. Yeah, of course it's gonna you're gonna look at it, go fucking whatever. Yeah, but you always want to assume that the next one will be better. Hey, Doom was all right, spirits within. I didn't hate Doom Dooms Okay, I have to admit I did not hate I owned Doom my DVD. I haven't seen it since it came out. It is. It doesn't hold up at all. There's still a boss fight against the rock at the end, that's true. Yeah, you're right, you're right, you fucking rock bottom of BFG. There are a couple of rock movies were actually rock by Yeah. Yeah, maybe this was a dumb thing to get hung up run down, yeah yeah, doing the Scorpion king. I will not see the Scorpion I remember being super bummed out that the Doom movie was not about demons. It was a person like aliens, right, uh, yeah, I think they made about the virus thing, the viruses or something like that. Yeah, the end, the virus takes over the Rock and he turns into like evil Rock, like they took the devil out of Doom, Like how the fuck? First person segment that were, Yes, that was all right. It's really stupid and I kind of want to see that again though. What was the lead guy's name, Graham Reaper or something. Someone should make a cut of that movie. V that just adds the doom hood to it and just like hasn't a counter and the lead character that has to exist. I would be really disappointed if I can't even find that on YouTube right after this anyway, like you a thousand percent no if you want to play this new StarCraft or not, And it's entirely based on did you like the last two? Because it's more of that. I think I'm gonna play that, but in like January or February. It's like tumb writer, just cause things all done, I am confident that that game will not dominate our game. Of your discussions, probably okay to wait, yeah, I have this like weird urge to play some star Craft. But like I didn't touch the second campaign much at all because I just don't like Zerg exactly what. I played enough of the first one to just go like man, So by the time the second one came out, I had not the urge to play in RTS had not rekindled it. Now at this point, I'm like, you know, okay, well this might be caught. I will tell you the number one thing that drew me to the pronounce when I first started playing the StarCraft to beta, and that's how I ended up maiming that race was the warp in mechanic. Like they added that for two. It was not in the original StarCraft but literally you can just turn you know, the standard RTS thing of like build a unit and then watch the progress bar on the building for like forty five seconds until it pops out. Like you can just research the upgrade where the units just warp in in five seconds anywhere on the map that you have like pylons, you know, Like that's awesome. Like just being able to as many warpgates as you have just like hit the key and click everywhere, and all of a sudden you've got like eight zelots just warping in in five seconds or whatever. To have that in the campaign for this is super refreshing. Yeah, Like that makes it really fun. And there's like the there's like the ship abilities where you can just spawn a pylon instantly on the map anywhere you want. So if you've got that thing ready, you can just like literally have a bunch of guys warping right into the middle of the battle that you're fighting, like in any moment. Like it makes the campaign really fun. Yeah, so like even if you don't like Zerg, this might be the one to come back for anyway. Yeah, I think it's it's a good solid thing. But you know, they didn't reinvent anything that they've done in the last too. I wonder if that genre could is even capable of like getting as big as it used to be, you know, or just kind of recapturing what you know, what League and what DODA have taken from from a StarCraft. I don't know how. If anybody was going to do it would have been Blizzard, right, Yeah, but you know, this game is already kind of a known quantity, and that happened. I think, you know, it'll have to go away for a while and then come back to try to sway it. Someone will have to try to do something a little different. Yeah. I just have no idea what that is. If they go the other way with it and it's just a MOBI with some base building like Trojan Horse it is, Yeah, it's like, hey, this is a five on five thing. By the way, you gotta build a barracks. By the way, you can build a base you have to. You can upgrade. You can buy a barracks to fucking spit out more creeps. Okay, all right, you know you can check up your fucking creeps. Okay, it's not wrong. I fully agree that's that's that would be a super weird angle to take, but it might that might work. Yeah, yeah, yeah, seriously, where are the command Where where's Lewis Castle these days? Bring him out of return? No, hopefully sitting on a fucking pile of money. Last, Like honestly, like with the number of games, number of great games that guy's made, you want to think that he's just like fuck it, man. What was the what was the last Command of Conquer products that came out? Was it from Westwood or not? Under this period that he probably Command of Conquer three? The expansion there was Rising Sun came, Oh yeah, there's four ship? Is that the one that just that was the one that just ended up being called Command and Conquering Twilight or something? Well? Play one right, the free to play one did not come like they never made, tested it and killed it. Wait, a Shanghai or something was making that. They showed some like footage of it, and I think that's the one that was just called Command and Conquer, right, that might have been it. And then they also was Shanghai though there was one out of la that I want to say like that, I think that might have been that was Generals too, because remember when they announced Generals too Generals too. Is that the Shanghai one? No, that was BioWare Victory right, yeah, byo was BioWare of Victory, which is Victory games. Was Command of Concker Tiberian That was that the canceled. Yeah, that was gonna be the first person was going to get space building another one, the one that came out was gonna have first person stuff. Tiberian was gonna be the same thing as Man of Conquer for Tiberian Twilight. Yeah. Yeah, I didn't play that much because I never really liked the like Tiberian series as much as I did the Red Alert. Wait, what was f was for a full product? Was that the one with the screen h the Aliens? Okay three had that I think too? Yeah, the screen existed in in y Yeah, okay, okay, John Bomb dot Com Jeff Grisman gave Command of Conquer four two stars out of five, Man Red Alert three at Parachuting Bears yeah, Gina Corno Okay, oh right. They also had Hogan at one point, right right? Yeah? That no wonder you like so much? Actually I never even really played much of that, but those were the best video game commercials of all time. Were Rick Flair is being stocked by a guy in a bear suit advertising RTS. There was a certain amount of glee to Yeah those, even the original ones, right, yeah, yeah, even the original ones. But certainly just like you know, you had a fucking you had scorpion and tank form and it would fucking basically say get over here, fucking pull them in, you know, like they this the Yeah, Red Alert had some stuff. MDA Cocker definitely all always took itself less seriously than the Blizzard RTS. There there was some pretty cool stuff in that in that last Red Alert game. It was just the sort of thing that was just it was overwhelming, Like the type of game they're trying to make was at that point, like it was just RTS stacked on top of RTS, and it was just like mechanics on top of mechanics and hard counters on the top of hard counters. He's just like, man, I just don't have the capacity to learn all these units anymore. Man. It seems like something that a lot of people are not really looking for these days. Yeah. So yeah, yeah, I don't know, Maybe maybe this will be the last big Marquee RTS release for a while. Yeah, yeah, probably. I mean, if I had to guess. I don't think he's going to get back into it anytime soon. I can't imagine CE and CS is like on their short list of stuff they want to know, that's for sure, so you know, and I can't imagine Blizzard diving right back into it anytime soon. So you know, I mean, yeah, they're going more toward competitive and free to play ish comes. They'll certainly see these other developers trying to kind of fill that void and doing games at their scale and their size and stuff like that. But in terms of just like, yeah, big budget RTS game that doesn't even make any sense anymore, doesn't even mean so, I mean, you know, they put out press release, like I guess this sold like a million copies in the first twenty four hours or whatever like this. This will do well for them, of course, but the people want to see it through. It's still fucking stark, Yeah, totally. Uh. At the same time, it's sort of just slipped out there, right, Yeah, it did. I think that's that's probably because like there there were so many other games coming out, you know, well, yeah, it came out the same day it's fall Out and Tumbrader Stark. I found it's fan base, you know, like the people that were checking for StarCraft certainly knew it was coming, but also those like the way they split it up to it a certain extent, like front front loaded a lot of the excitement, right, yeah, totally. Like by by putting this, I mean when they put this out, you know what it is. It's not like it's some huge engine overhaul and like, oh, this is gonna look amazing and it's gonna play like this Like no, you know, the prossts play. They'll add some units and do some stuff, but it is what it is. It is definitely an own quantity for sure. All Right, what else do you have? Oh? I played some hacknet hacking come out a little while ago. Hacknet's hella cool. It's it's a command line video game. Okay. You can help your servers and hack servers and bring down firewalls and wow uh and and overload proxies and you know, disconnect from the system and clean your logs up as you go to you know, break the trace that they're trying to trace you down. And hackers hack into your system and crash it and you have to go reboot it and get it back there's it's neat. That sounds all right. It's like a Last Starfighter situation where you get called up by the FBI. Yeah. Well, as soon as you finish the game, it's like, look, man, we need you to come and do this for real. That's pretty cool. And then they just give you access to PRISM all of it. It's like, all right, cool. So so I'm I'm listening to a lot of your phone calls. Now, okay, you're disgusting. I know thank you is in the in the command line if they don't. No, it's basically the whole right side of the screen is your command line kind of shell interface. But then there's kind of a visual representation of a file system and and other systems on the network and stuff like that, and so you don't necessarily have to look at that visual representation, but it does make certain things a lot easier. But you can type IP addresses from the command line and all the other stuff you can you I think you could probably play that entire game from the command line if you want it to. That's cool. I'm glad that somebody made that. Yeah, it's uh, it's I mean, you know, uplink and there have been other games to try to say it's been a long time since Uplink. I feel like this game is maybe a little more accessible than Uplink was, Like, you know, Uplink definitely goes places, and the Uplink games have been cool because this is easy to jump into. Then, I mean, like, does it not feel like you need to be able to write a Bash script to like understand this or something easy. It's it's it's flexible as well. It's got you know, if you know things about how to you know, work command prompt, like you know, some of that stuff's gonna come way easier, right, Like, what was that other game that came out on Steam a few months ago that was like basically straight up about debugging assembly code or whatever. Yes, I remember the name the name of it, but yeah, like in that way in that case, like I remember people saying like, if you don't actually do know how to like write machine code, like you might have a hard time with this. Yeah that's rough, but also this was really awesome. Look yeah, like I looked at it like, man, it's like incredible that that got made. But I wish I knew how to do that stuff. Right, Okay, So this is not that kind of thing you can just because you can you change directories? Can you see D dot dot? Yeah? You're good, Okay, all right, I need to check that out. That sounds cool. Yeah, it's it's neat. And then I started playing Undertail m okay, which I it did not grab me. Really How far are you? I'm not super far? Okay, maybe half an hour, maybe forty five minutes or something like that. I remember let's say, let's say it's a five hour game. I remember the first two hours kind of being like, all right, the seams just kind of weird Internet humor, goofy, like I kind of felt like, you know, like I you know, I was talking to Austin this morning and kind of asked like, hey, so at what point does Undertail either become Undertail or become lost on me? And he kind of gave me a point like, hey, if you get past this point, which I have not seen yet and you're not feeling it, then you might not just might just not like unders There's not like a defining moment for me. But around two hours, two hours and is when I started being like, I think I really like this game, god like it. It had moments I like the battle system a lot cool. Yeah, yeah, the you know, dodging fake bullets and dodging carrots and having to collect the green vegetables to get the vegetable monsters to back off, and like boss fights that feel almost like bullet hell stuff and it's a weird mechanic. Yeah yeah, I don't know. The humor started growing on me a little more as I got further on, because at first I thought like, oh, it's gonna be one of those games it's just weird for weird sake. Right now, it just seems it's like very tweet or something, you know, and that's what's tweet again. It's you know, it's kind of very quaint and you know, cute, which is which is my early impression of it. And that's not a bad thing, you know, there are certainly parts of it I'm like, oh, that's that's charming. It gets weirder later on, Like I liked it more the more I played it, especially like near the end, it just gets really weird. So yeah, yeah, so I know I'll play some more of that. I need to play that definitely. Enough people on the staff are ye are into it. I don't need to have some at least a cursory knowledge of it. Yeah, I haven't touched it yet, and yeah, it's good to know that it might pick up after a couple of hours. So okay, all right, I'll stick with it. Yeah, I will stick with it. I feel like the game of the year pressure is starting to build. Yeah, what else is like on everybody's radar? Like, I really want to check out Soma. Soma is like number one on my list of like you know, aside from all these Triple A like big releases they're happening right now, Like, that is the game that I want to check out. I need to play Team Rater. I haven't. Yeah, I really want to. Like hearing you guys talk about it, like as much as I did not care for the first one, Like it just sounds fucking awesome. It's it's I mean making a mistake. Parts of it are very much the same as that first one. Absolutely, But I thought parts of that game, well, they were just parts of it that we're really off putting. Something something stood out to me that I didn't I didn't think about it at the time that you said last week, which is completely not there anymore, Which is that whole thing of like pushing up on the stick to like kind of shimmy your way through tight crevices and stuff like that. Like that stuff's basically gone. Yeah, it happens, but I mean it's it's definitely too like mask loading, and it's it's very short. It's much shorter, and it doesn't feel like it's like it's still all fucking murder porny. No, not really dead. It's still just like they were gonna really fuck up Lara Croft. I haven't sick. I was like, there's a certain type of like spike pit trap and fall into those like that one is very much a wow, she just gotten paled through the neck. That's still a little graphic, but like but it's very much shorter as well. I don't have a problem with graphic violence. I mean, you know, it's like I'm all for it, But at some point like that game just seemed to be going out of its way to just you're you're absolutely right. The first well the first one, in the course of the story, they seem to kind of right revel exactly. It was just like we're gonna watch We're gonna let you watch this lady get the ship beat, which she gets. In fact, like one of the problems I had with the first game was they didn't earn it, like like they impaled her on a fucking like fucking freebar or like five minutes first game and then she just stands up and like walks away from it. Well and never they never address it again, Like like you're hanging out in these like snowy mountains in the tank top for half the game, you know, and they just don't seem to give a shit. Yeah, like this game lots of outfits. Yeah, like it almost feels like they went out of their way to go to the other show. But that was on Team Rader three at the snowmobile and the snow stuff, and they gave her the snow jacket, right, so this is you know, they're headed schedule. She got sunglasses in two when she got a motorcycle. See but actually I didn't think to mention that, But you're totally right, Chas, And like there are a ton of outfits in this that you unlock, and they all feel like very appropriate for the setting, you know, like it's actually cool that you're like getting like, oh man, you get some fucking like fighting all these merks and she got some tackle gear. It's like, all right, she's gonna go toe to toe with Then I'm still blown away by the fact that, like you can accumulate snow on your outfit, not like on your hair. As soon as you walk into a cave by fire, it like melts away. That's yeah, a little shit like that. Yeah, really cool. It's it's it's a well made game for sure. Uh yeah, man, video games are happening, They're all they're among us. Yeah, yeah, I I keep checking back in with Black Ops three. Yeah, like it's gonna grab me or the multiplayer is gonna keep me going like zero. Yeah, it's still kind of like as far as this time of year, it's my go to if I just want to play some dumb multiplayer shooter. Is it is that that game like Halo isn't completely Probably I actually did play a bunch of that this weekend, but I was beating the story. I probably should go back in the Halo multiplayers. I do like I like Halo better than Black Ops three, So yeah, I think I think Halo five is awesome, But it's there's something like, even though I think that multiplayer is well done, like I just the Halo. The flow of Halo multiplayer right is not my favorite. I just like, I like the speediness of Call of Duty. I've always liked there's speed and just the instant just like murdering full time, time to respond and stuff like that. Yeah, just hit the button, get back in, let's go. We'll go go. I like that about Call of Duty. But yeah, I don't know, I just I don't know. I looked up the PC version some more to kind of get a sense of how that was going. I played some more APS four and just had nothing but network trouble. Uh here in the office where we've got the openest of nets, yes, and the uh and and a hell of a bandwidth. It was. It was running real shitty one night. But you know, that's I don't know if that's just anecdotal, who knows. It was running fine for me at home, It just was not that fun to play. I also want to make sure that we don't forget about the Witcher. What is that game exactly that wasn't here? Yeah, No, that that's that's definitely uh, that's that's still on my list. I that was That was my decision I made this weekend was am I going to start the Witcher? I'm gonna start Undertail? And I went with Undertail. Okay, so are you? Are you pretty high on the Witcher? I mean, get into the Game of the Year discussions proper here, but I'm really high, I'm sure. Yeah. I know that there were a lot of things that needed to be ironed out soon at the beginning of that game, but I think you know they have been. Yeah, they a huge number of improvements. How far did you get finish? Man? No, it didn't finish it? Okay. Yeah, I dropped off due to time stuff, and I want to get back into it hopefully. I don't like feel the needs to start over from scratch because I would suck, but I should be able to dup. Yeah. Yeah. Reading discussions about the podcast or whatever, it sounds like the consensus is the Dan is by far the furthest in the game. On staff the whole soundaff Yeah, none of us have beat it though, I don't think so. Wow. Yeah, yeah, I want a game. It seems like I'm right at the end, but nope, that's not happened. I feel like I'm close to the or was close. Yeah, but I'll give it a shot. You know this is this is well, and it's not entirely it doesn't line up totally. But I started playing the Witcher two after they did their like directors, after it came to consoles, and then they rolled that stuff back down into the PC verse trying to like fix a ton of stuff and have like a gentler ramp for people to get into it, and could not stand to the witch Er two. So you know, like, well, you're you're safe, Like they've fixed enough of the like nagging issues that like you're fine. Oh yeah, soundings fine. Yeah, Like the movement's better than about the inventory and the UI stuff are mostly better. Yeah, a lot of a lot of steak I had with it came from playing it on the consoles. Yea insane loading times and like its forever to get into the map because even that takes time to load in, right, Like being on the PC is by far the way to do it if you can. Yeah, anyway, let's on to move on to news because there's a little bit a ton you know, most people are busy shipping games and stuff, but Nintendo dropped a direct so let's talk about it. Project Cross owned two motherfuckers know what that is Oh my god, that's that. It's like Namco and Capcom. And second it's all kinds of shit, man, tactical turn base. All right, get a hold of yourself. Man, so good, let's go down the list here. All things in due time is their first direct since you want to passed away? Yeah, I only caught bits and pieces of it. Was it was mostly Reggie MC. It was Reggie throwing to Bill, Bill trending and build it most of it. Okay, Bill light a bunch of donuts because a ghost took over him watching. I did see that part one for the record books. I get the worst imagery when when they mentioned hung Ramps it's a good name. I don't get hungry. No, you don't know, you just get aroused. All right, shall we go down the list? Yes, Twilight Princess HD, Yes, yes, yes, yes, whatever. That is the Zelda game that could most benefit from a Big eight theory. You mean it's crazy. Which one is it? Which one could most benefit from a nice I would have a nice coat of paint, I would have. I would have said wind Waker, which they did. They did that. I'm saying like now now, like yes, they're closing the loop and doing the ones that didn't need it nice I'm saying, and the names that might not be worth revisiting. Let's Twilight Princess. Well, so I might call it a great game, but not a game that we need to return to. I will happily return to it and play it again. The most distressing thing about the Twilight Princess announcements that they made here was that they're putting out a wolf link mebo. Yes, and they're saying that the wolflink ambo will work in the new legend of Zelda. Some data will transfer. So the idea that, like anything from Twilight Princess will exist outside of Twilight Princess or specifically in the newest resting, especially in the new one, which stands a good chance of being really cool. Yeah, like the last thing they need to do saddle it with the fucking crap from Twilight for years. I mean it might just mean it unlocks like some figure hully. Yes, I mean yeah, there might mean nothing, nothing like most ambo stuff. It might be nothing, but right, like, the idea that that would be the one is like, oh no, it's a good game. And the way have they said if it's going to be uh, can you play it with just like a controller, like a pro controller. I'd have to assume the footage appears to be GameCube like version. So remember how the WE version was flipped to account and so this this one is GameCube flipped. Okay, because I actually never played Twilight Princess with a GameCube control. I only it was a better way to play. I'm sure, like I've always wanted to do that, absolutely better way to play the game. In fact, he's going to do that. On the thing with Twilight Princess. Is that not that it's necessarily some fucking bad game. It's that it is just another goddamn Zelda game and it's hooks are not good. Yeah, Like it wasn't, I mean not fucking you do not set it apart in a good way like That's made a handful of those games at that point like that since Akarina, Like Twilight Princess was the moment where it was like, all right, guys, you gotta come up with something else. Well, don't forget. Mean that's your twenty fifteen retrospect talking like don't forget. At the time, the hook was, hey, it's realistic Zelda. Oh it was it was. It was returned to form because everyone loved Old Zelda and then Acarina. And after Acarina you have Majora, which is fucking weird in an awesome way. H and then he had win Waker, which was super weird and an awesome ways weird about fucking wind Waker. Win Waker is a fucking game. I love it like that. Even anyone like says that that game is like, fucking yeah, we were sailing. It's on little islands and totally totally like the The Twilight Princess returned to Form thing is fucking bull I fucking anyone that looked at wind Waker a when it got announced, but then doubly so after it came out and you got to play it, Yeah, and we're like, oh this fucking kids, fuck that people calling it Selda, those people can yeah the fuck that. I was like, those are the same Those are the same people that were like shedding tears of the Twilight Princess but now exactly yeah, trust me. I worked at a game stop retail location when they showed wind Waker and the amount of know it all customers that came in and talked about how it's gonna be the worst game ever. Trust me, I hate that type of well those I'm not accusing you of being that, but like, like, there's nothing fucking weird about wind Waker. I'm saying they took me on awesome new direction gameplay, but it's not the traditional like people wanted, more like Akarina, Like, oh, here's this big field and you're riding a horse and the castle like resembling. I love it. I am just speaking on behalf of these people, like I understand, don't deserve a voice. There's nothing, dude, I don't think there's anything. Do not speak on their behalf because they are bull I get it. I like the idea because Akarina is very much looked at as like, you know, some people think it's the best one it's ever, I complieve. I disagree that the Twilight Princess is even calling back to Okarina. What it's calling back to is that fucking Shoshinkai tech demo they put out the game Space World one because Lake is fighting Gannon. All of all of the the ire about wind Waker came from people seeing that tech demo and then getting super angry that they didn't just then go and make that game, the Space World demo. Yes, yeah, so like that's why it's why Twilight Princess exists or was made. But to fulfill those expectations. It's good. It's super boring. Yeah, it's not a super Bowl. It's not even a top five zel the game for me, Yeah, but I mean it's like a fifty sixty hour game. It's a huge game with some really cool dungeons and stuff. Yeah, it's good. And name one that you'd rather see getting the big rerelease already did it? Like I don't want them to do anymore, Like they should be something else. It's the best candidate. If they're doing cancelus is doing this sport, they could be making another fucking funky barn instead of stating their time with this bullshit. Enough said, man, I can't argue that it's exactly nowhere else to go on that one, you know, like there's nothing wrong with Twilight Princess in a Vacuum. It's just like in the cavalcade of Zelda games that came, like that was the one where you're like, all right, the hook in this one is kind of lame, right, The new stuff, the new world stuff they did, building these characters, like the new characters were kind of lame. It was just it was the series at its most wheel spinningest. I think though, that there are a lot of people like me that maybe have not played Twilight Princess since it first came out and are kind of curious, like, okay, now that we're separated from the big you know, Hulla Blue of the Wei launching and everything and these motion controls and stuff, I wonder how it holds up. I wonder how it's aged, because like earlier this year, I was looking to like, you know, kind of restart that on Dolphin, And so there are plenty of people that I think want to go back and see how it holds up. And this is people are gonna be excited that they can do it in this form, you know, looking better, playing better, because I mean graphically like it's kind of muddy, Like you go back to the gamekeeper we want, it doesn't look great. I am very excited to be able to play it again in this fashion as someone who wants to see how it's held up. Will I will give it a shot just to see if I was wrong or not because I was not a fan either. That was a great game Twilight Princess, if you had to break it out into graphics, sound, gameplay, value and reviewers tell, yep, you get on because you know, you look at the graphics of the era, it look great. It was an awesome looking game, and it sounded fun. You know, it's like it sounded like a Legend Zelda game, played like a Legends Zelda game. Plenty of value there. It's a long game. Yeah, but at some point you're like, you know what, by the standards of two thousand and six, it's two thousand and six. By the review standards, there's a few processes of two thousand and six, it could only score so low did you review it? Yeah, what do they get eight point eight and an eight point nine game August Video game reviewing institutions determined through their you know, their time tested process. But it was a great game. That was definitely that's definitely one of those games that, like the game spot reviewing system of its era got that game a lot of its points because breaking it out into those component scores, like you can't you know, you can't fault the graphics, like you can't fault the components of it, you know, So it's all on paper that you just go like nope, so so, and back then it still wasn't average the score was. It wasn't just an average. There was a formula. There was a formula too. You know, we didn't determine the final scores for reviews. It was there was literally spreadsheet of five was five categories. It was not even a straight average of those. It was weighted so gameplay mattered most. So that makes sense, you know. But that's when they were getting like emblems and stuff. I came up with the emblem stuff that was later back to try to kind of counteract some of what scores were doing. Uh So that was that was the pivot is like after reviews like that where it was like just kind of ridiculous that like this game that like I had feelings about that did not necessarily like manifest in the review score. It was like, you know what I, as the reviewers, should be able to say, here's what this game is scored. And a lot of other problems the game Spot review scale had at the time, so you know, we worked to revamp it. I mean that scale one all the way back to ninety six, right, yeah, it's yeah, and it made a lot of sense then. But you know, as more and more games got you know, scored on that scale, you started to see that everything somehow got an eight point six. There's just wouldn't no matter what. I always seemed to work out to eight points. I want to I want to look up for some reason, Shadow the Colossus comes to mind because I reviewed that, and I want to say that got an eight point six. That's what the first Spinner Cell might have gotten. Yeah, but it's just for some reason, there's a lot of just you know, big budget games that would have certain amounts of like like production value, production value that like you couldn't deny. You go like, well, the graphics need to be an eight or higher because it's like it's a great looking game. But like, you know, so just the way the math would often work out. So if I reviewed a Star Wars Battlefront back then they would have got an eight point six. I could totally see that. Yeah, But like if I was rating on today's scale, like Twilight Princess is totally the definition of a three star game. Wow, Yeah, you know, it's absolutely like you just look at it and go like this is the most middle of the road fucking thing. They could abandon everything you thought you knew about scores on video games. I gave it a nine point nine. That's pretty high. There are very free scores that go higher than a nine point I ever gave. Yeah, yeah, it's but yeah, I mean that game is like it's okay. Like you come away from it going like, well, they made another legend of Zelda game, and I guess that's cool, But man, they have made some of these in this format that have been far better. Yeah again, not even to totally so you know, that's totally one of those things where you're just like, there's no or even if this was the same game, the fact that they had already made like X number of them before immediately diminishes this one because totally, yeah, making the same game over and over only gets you so far, you know, you know I can. And it was one of the like people got so hung up on the language of that review, like things that were just like not meant to be Like you know, and this is always anyone reads a review, They fucking they pick out their little fucking things that they want to harp on and get all weird about when you just included as just like an almost an a side, Like somewhere in that review is me saying like, oh, you know, maybe they could have added voice acting, Like it's not meant to be like this game must have voice acting or it is terrible, which is how people took it. But it's just like, hey, you know, they could move forward. You know a lot of games have voice acting in these days, Like wouldn't it be neat to see what they could do? The travesty? How dare you? And you know, it's just like fuck you whatever, fucking idiots, especially like when like the entire basis of your argument is because that's how they do it, you know, Yeah, but exactly, there's no That's how it's always been, so it must always be that quality. Those those are the same people that are like going like, how dare you say that Fallout is a three out of five game because it's this majestic achievement, Like, no, fucking whatever, Man, they made a lot of those games, you'd think they'd make them better by now. Yeah, it's tragic video games dot Com that this that this has not changed ever. I agree, if it's always been like this, yeah, and it will always be always be h that came up with the Tomb Raider review a little bit, people were saying, like, well, what you're saying explicitly this is a better game than the last one way to get the same score. But like, you know, expectations are higher for sequels. Time's fucking change now, it's times have passed many they have. The presence of the original tomb Raider makes Rise of the Tomb Raider inherently less impressive, right, right, So if they hadn't stepped it up, if they had made exactly an equivalent game, it would have probably gotten a lover score. Yeah, that's just kind of the way we're Yeah, that's that's the other thing like people never understood, you know, and and probably never will. Is that that whole thing of like, oh, well, you're saying that this game is better than this game, Like, well, no, not really, because that was a different time and standards were a little different at that point. So you know, naturally they're gonna you know, you can't just give every game a higher score every year, because then you end up with scores that are like we gave this a ninety two point six. Yeah, you know, it's like what if Tony Hawk four was better than Tony Hawk three. Yeah, you know, then it would have been able to maybe maintain it's ten, but it wasn't, so you know, that wasn't really an issue. But you know, there were a lot of situations like that. I remember having a review Super street Fighter four for Game Informer and like, yeah, it's nothing the better game to get three game, but who yeah, and like street Fighter four got a nine point five and I played, It's like, I like this better, but that that impact isn't there anymore. So it was like a nine, and everyone's like, you're saying it's better than street Fighter four, But then you get it's like, this isn't that hard to understand. It's hard ultra actually lower than the original like street Fighter just because of expectations, and it's still a great game, but it's better. Yeah, yeah, totally, like it's the best iteration of that game however, like it was. You would think the people will understand that, But I think what happens is like there's all there are always new people entering the world of video games, and so it's always their first fucking holiday season or something. It's always their first year of reading reviews. So those people will always just be there to kind of make the exact same complaint over and over again. Yeah, there's always gonna be a new crop until we're dead. Yeah, awesome. Yeah, it's the it's the Eternal de Simber on the internet. Yeah, totally exactly what it is. Yes, AOL got access to use that and ruined everything, all right, and then they started reading video game reviews and it's been downhill ever since. Oh man, Nintendo news that I'm feeling all old and krusty. Let's move through the rest of the stuff. High Rule Warriors Legends on the three DS is the remake of Higher Rule Warriors. I guess I've really I just enjoyed that game. It's not great, it's it's just fun, all right. Well it's stuff that wasn't that was an exuberant fuck. Yes, that is all I'm saying because it is kind of middle of the road and okay, I don't know. Well, there's there's some new characters coming to this skull kid that's mask King of High Rule from Windwakers. Well, this Austin story says King of High Rule, which I take to mean the actual King of High Rule that you meet, like the under water King of or granted Granted, there is precedent for a car in a fighting game, but I don't see how a boat in a dynasty. I mean, he was a king. Yeah, but I'm saying like I think. I think when he says warms into a boat, shut up. I think that I think it's like, it's mid combo. He turns into a boat. Don't. Actually it's literally the boat. Yeah, that's okay, that's incredible. It's Transformers devastation. That's actually amazing. But a man that turns into it, don't get me wrong. King of red Lyons might be my favorite vehicle ever in a video game. But I think he yeah, he's mostly an actual king here anyway. The real reason I bring all that up is, Uh, there is a female version of Link named Lincol And that's weird. That's a weird name. It kind of but you know whatever. And she showed up in the it's not necessarily I guess she's not brand new, right, Well, she showed up in the art book for this guest. She was art book was it was she. There was shots of her in there with the crossbow and stuff like that. It's like, ah, we thought, I don't know, we thought about this is like maybe like a kid's sister kind of character, but didn't go with it, and now every schools character will be in yeah in there yeah and looks fucking badass. Yeah, like no joke, get getting crazy and you're in your weird as hold a fan surface game, you know, but it's like nuts with characters, different game. Yeah. The name of the pretty weirdness the name I don't know, or just make it link yeah, just like hey, linking me a lady. It was like it's a different link in every game anyway, it's more comfortable. Hero of Time could be anything. Yeah, it could be a fucking boat, but like linkol, like the boat from Jaws for the nes is the new Hero of Time the click CONTI let's be real, that boat was the old Hero of Time. That boat has been He's been around and you want to talk about feeling old. Uh, let's see Snoot free DLC coming to try Force Heroes. Everybody excited. New costumes. I'll never play that game, and new map as well. I really wanted to like that game. We played a little bit at A three and I'm like, Okay, I can get behind this. You're the only one I think you're the only one like god, and this is this is not four swords at all. Guess what's three sords? Guess what the solution to that puzzle is? Stack up their Yeah? Yeah, yeah. I was about to ask if anybody cares about Pokemon, but then I looked at the Pokemon News and I was like, no, wait, we have to talk about this. I'll get the boring stuff out of the way. First, Red, Blue, and Yellow are being rereleased next year in February. Yeah, on the three DSc shop. Yeah. And and so the one part that makes this maybe slightly less boring than than you're giving credit for is that they are building in wireless. That's so the link cable play you could do on the original games. Cool, that's actually a big deal. I guess it's the linkl cable. Sorry, yes, right of course. Uh. And then Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon. Yeah, it looks really bad. I don't know anything about that. I don't yet. It's another it's another Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game. Okay, they've made a lot of those. Now onto the important stuff. Pokemon Pick Cross Yeah, that's cool, good for it. It is a quote free to start game. I like that term. Do I like that term because it's on it it's more descriptive. Yeah, it's it's as three DS is awesome. I'm trying to think though, like, is there actually a meaningful difference tween free to start and free to play? Well, free to play necessary like play? What does that even mean? You can play the game forever, you could play all of it and sometimes to start. You can start it for free, but the expectations you would put in money at something and just play carries that stigma that there's all kinds of hidden micro transactions and then this is just like straight up okay. But isn't this just a kind of well that's like what was a crash mo was the one where it's like you could play a handful of levels, right, it's like, okay, now buy these packs. Like I think that works totally. I think you might be able to actually play this entire game without like so that you'll use the pokemon as. I shouldn't say that, I don't. I don't know for sure, but you'll be able to use the pokemon as like special attacks on your pit cross board to uncover stuff or change time or whatever. Like seems like that's the sort of stuff that you might spend an end game currency on or a real money currency refresh those abilities or stuff. Maybe the puzzles will be oh, so this is oh, because I thought free to start men like, oh, you get the first five puzzles free, and then you got to pay to unlock the rest or something. I'm not sure. The language didn't seem super clear, and I have not retained full clarity of that segment, so I could be wrong, but it seemed like the sort of thing where maybe you could play all of it if I can just play normal ass pacross for free, that's awesome. Well that's coming out. That's coming out of early December, so we'll find out soon. Yeah, I just need to make a Piccross three D. You need to make another one of those. That game is incredible. It's a game called painted Back on iOS that is I'm sorry, that's not the one I'm thinking of. There's that's painted Back is just a standard piccross game, but there's there's a decent three D pick Cross on iOS. I thought they put out a couple of piccross games on the three DS, over the last Across three D and the Yeah, there are a bunch of shop ones. Oh and yeah yeah, Cross three D I think is one of my favorite game. It's incredible. And then there's the poking tournament. Oh god, oh poke keno. Yes, it's just in case you haven't figured out what the play on words is there. It is a fighting game and collaboration between the Pokemon Company and the band band I Namco. What the fuck makers of tech why not? I guess let them have their fun too. I didn't actually want nothing to do with this. And chars are throwing motherfucker's in a volcano. Okay, okay, like I would. I like the idea of this. That's that's great. Did they show it? Yeah? That game has been a bit oh okay, if it's like officially officially out. They've had some promotional things where they've like invited prominent people in the fighting game community to play it. Kind of like that. They did the same with like Rise of Incarnates that did well. Oh boy. Hey, not to totally disrupt our flow here, but we can take a quick break out of the bathroom. Okay, alright, alright, I'm gonna hit the spacebar. It'll pause right now, all right now, it's sign for the most exciting ninto no news. Yeah. I wanted to make sure I was like comfortable and ready. Okay, you got this, you got any bathroom news for us? Everything? Go? Yeah, everything was everything was fun this time. Okay, don't go in there. Here it comes. You're gonna be able to sort levels and manage levels and stuff. Yes, way better. Yeah, but not in the game. But not in the game on a website. Is it the way that on a website where or on a phone? If I can do it, it's just like queuing up you know any of those music games where it's like, oh, cue up the next song you're gonna play on your phone. So there's an ad to list the functionality on in on the browser in the Apple when are they making an app? When you say on the phone, running on a phone. But it might just be the most page. But the important thing is it's not some bullshit code or anything you type end. It looks like it's going to be fairly straightforward. So just directly where you're browsing the level, you'll be able to send that right into your game. Yes, and you can like pick like theme, uh and what game and everything. So if you want to go Mario three Airship should be able to do that. They said they'd be able to filter by like automatic levels and stuff like that, which is a level of metadata they don't have right now. So I'm curious, Like at that point, I feel like the game would have to change, if only to let uploaders tag their levels appropriately, or maybe let people who play the level like tag it like a little bit play exactly. There is there nothing you have to do mechanically in the editor to make it be kind of an auto playing level. It's all just the clockwork you could use. You could pick up the controls and break the auto play and die. So there's no way the editor should be able to tell that it's one of those. Well, I mean it could be if if someone completes a level with no input at all, maybe it automatically goes, oh, this is not a play level. But I've also seen levels like it's starting people like people. Some people call them Mario Kart levels and are some people just say like, hey, just run and it's just like you just hold to the right hold run and it's like an AutoPlay level, but you're holding to the right hold. You're totally playing it. Yeah, So those would get tripped up by that kind of detection, I guess, but and so I don't know, I don't know what they're doing. So what's the what is the key distinction between this new web interface and what's in the game now. What's in the game now doesn't let you filter or search at all. Okay, you have to know an ID for it, or be following a user or find it on there like you know, hey, up and coming or top Creators, top Creators or so. This would let you kind of drill into the levels that have been uploaded in search of specific types or so on. Okay, but how about like trying to seek out specific users? Is it that's something you can do right now? So if you have one level code from a user, right you can then follow them from in the game. But that's kind of That's where I get hung up though, is that you need that right? Like the discoverability on at the like a user name level is not there. It's not like the idea that you're we you friends list doesn't immediately come into this game and just let you view all your friends levels immediately. It's still Yeah, it's insane though most of my WU friends make garbage fucking levels that I'd never want means anyway, that's fair, but except options should be there, yeah except you yeah, okay, that option should have been in there, you know, yeah, that option. The lack of sorting functionality is the knock against that game. So like, this sounds helpful, but it also sounds like kind of a band aid on the problem rather than actually, it's weird it's not in the game, especially like those are you know, it's got a big touch screen, like let you mean, fuck with drop downs and just build that search from the game itself, right, Like, I don't understand why that wouldn't be in there, and maybe that's something they do later. I don't know. I don't know it's weird. I'm just glad that they're regularly doing things like they have the first update with the checkpoints. Now they're doing this like they pushed on the patch like a couple of days ago that didn't seem to do anything. It's one, it's one two one now it might have been that maybe that was putting in the hooks for this thing or yeah, but I mean, you're not wrong. Like one of the other kind of notes on this list that Austen put together from this direct is like there's more Splatoon content coming, you know, like it's just like supporting the ship out of its case. Seem of that stuff is a little weird though, because a lot of that Splatoon stuff was on the disc day one. Really a lot of that is stuff, though not all of it. But my understanding it's like a lot of that stuff has been there the whole time. They're just kind of letting it out. Well, I don't have the patch I pulled after this direct came went up. Took a good like half hour to download, So maybe maybe they're past that point and now they're adding new stuff. I haven't been playing enough Splatoon to say, but I but my understanding is that there has been a fair amount of content on that disc that they've been just kind of unlocking it. But the most part has it just been new levels or gameplay modes or yeah, it's been levels of modes in gear and yeah. So the big one for me was when they raised the level cap because remember that people were hitting Yeah, yeah, people hit the original almost people hit twenty in the first weekend, you know, So I don't know if that was a decision they made after it was funny. They were like, we're not going to turn on ranked until enough people hit twenty, and he thought like, oh, well, I guess maybe that'll take some time. Like no, no, it doesn't actually take much time at all. Here's a level code for Mario Maker. You know, I made a level over the week. People want to try the EF five eight zero zero zero zero zero zero e ed four one nine E. So okay, if people want to look at that, okay, follow me. I don't know, yeah, made that Level's kind of tough. I think people are finishing it. I mean you you very much seemed to be leaning toward the like you know, it's not gonna be a k walk. But also this is not some kind of god awful hellscape like Dan has been. Yeah, he's making nightmares like if anything, if anything, the level that he made during our Extra Life stream, like, there are things from that level in my level, but they are a little less, a little less fettered. It's more like, hey, here's the mechanic. There's only one way to accomplish this thing, and you're gonna learn it otherwise you're not going to proceed. Whereas like some people that we've been watching stream that level are finding a roundabout dumb ways to solve some of these problems. Yeah, and I'm just like, dude, this is a much faster way here. Play this level and you will you will have to understand this mechanic. Do you want him to have that? Though? I mean it, it's no fun if the level can't get completed, I guess, because then there's no next level. I mean the level has to be completed to be uploaded, so so you know, but if the back and for the back and forth to continue, if he does it with help though it's tainted some No, no, he won't play this level until after he's completed. Okay, he's probably You're not actually going to him saying no, no, no, no, absolutely no, okay, No, he probably will have finished that level by the time this podcast goes up. He's getting closer, and the nights to night he seems pretty committed to like the purity of the process. Yeah, seems like it. I assume. I assume people are not throwing all kinds of like at him. People are trying to spoil it, farming and give them tips and stuff. He's doing what he can to make it legit and not looking at the chat, but like obviously he's on Twitter a lot and stuffs it happens. Yeah, but I mean this last one is way more just execution focus. You still got to do it, which took me hours and hours and hours despite knowing exactly how to do it. So it's not as bad on the puzzle front. Heap, Where the fuck is the angry Son? Where's the actual keep it out? I want the angry Son. I want Panto son is keys, keys, I'm okay with yeah, because those were in Mario World, Like, yeah, keys would be cool. I think there's room for more stuff in this game. Man, there there's there's easy objects from the franchise they could add in there that I want. Poke, Yeah, they could put poke in there. They can put the desert level in there, sniffets. I'm sure I'm overlooking something. But is there any precedent for Fanto to be in this game? Because there is only two and so that's what I mean. There's nothing from two in this game, right, Well, the shy guy, there's a shy guy costume that doesn't really care. There's the doors. If you make a door Mario three, they look like the Mario two doors. Yeah. Man, building a Mario two level getting to decide what is in each little tuft of grass, Like, oh, how fucking that's be the coles if they put into. I don't think they would put into because I just don't think Japan thinks about two the way we think. I guess, and it's the odd man out in terms of mechanics, like the Son from three I think should totally be in there. I want to make a giant, angry, fucking Son that's in a clown car with wings. It's all fucking huge. I want to Son with a bullet bill launcher stuck to the top of the fucking Son one Son by itself. It's launching ever, No, no, no, yeah, it's the second worst Mario enemy ever behind Panto Phantos. Just scary Man Phantom is terrifying Worth The poison Mushroom from Japanese supermart Brothers too should be in this game. Yeah, you know, like they got room, man, they got room to add stuff. They should do it. Oh it's true. I hope I hope that they do. They have to. I mean, this game seems to have whatever. I haven't seen any sales figures, but just announced that it broke a million world that's worldwide, So like maybe, I mean, maybe this is one of those weird self selecting situations where it's because of the people I follow. But I feel like at a certain point everybody was talking about Mario Maker, and I think about it more than any game that more recently. In general, it seems to have been a sensation of source. So it is Nintendo's best video game since the Acarina of Time Man. That is a serious is a significant claim. Yeah, yeah, you guys are hot navy and I don't want to I don't want to tip my hand here, but I now Mario Galaxy, Mario Galaxy too, and Between Worlds is really good too. Those are really good. Yeah, Mario Maker is better. I don't I don't really good. I don't want to tip my hand here, but I question how much of a game it is. Oh, it's the it's the ultimate game. There's so much Mario in there. Let's put that on the back burner for now. Oh it might go up again. Cloud Strife. Yeah, is going to be a super smash brothers. Okay, does anybody care? I mean, I got, I got, I got nothing on this, Like I'm not super involves the rash. Yes, air guys versus smash would Okay, I mean, yeah, that's that's awesome fan service. And they've already kind of thrown the whole Nintendo cannon out the window, like when they brought in like you know Snake, Oh yeah, Snake and Sonic and yeah that stuffs whatever. Yeah, this is although uh and who better to add than somebody with another It's a little bit weird. It's just slightly weird to me that they took the protagonist from the first Final Fantasy game to not be on a Nintendo platform. That's looking too far into very but he's also like well, whatever I'm thinking about at the time, like the drama around the facts that Square defected it was huge and development for sixty four. When they're kind of screenshots of it, well, there there's footage out there of like their Final Fantasy six characters, which is a super in the s game like in three D. But they always even even at the time that that footage came out, they said it was just like graphics tests. Okay, I remember like EGM's and ninety five or whatever that that media got out there, and they meant for it too. I don't think it leaked, right, Yeah, no, it was not actual previews and it was not like N sixty four test footage, like okay, it was like part of this part of like Nintendos, Like that's probably some straight up fucking shinky type ship. It was before it was before the n sixty four even came out. Yeah, and then they jumped ship the Ultra sixty four and like, I don't know, it wasn't or I don't a Nintendo Double Drive or some shit like that. What are we talking about. I thought that was supposed to be a d D game. Okay, yeah, uh, yes, that's right, that's right. But yeah, that was like a fucking huge deal at the time, Like totally Square was like rapidly becoming a lot of people's favorite developer, and the platforms that they made their games on suddenly they left them behind and moved to the That was a big reason upstart competition with their fancy fucking CD ROMs. Yeah, a big reason for me jumping over to the Sunnyside. But but I mean, but whatever, like Cloud is clearly like the most in demand like fan favorite Final Fantasy character to put in a Smash Brothers games, and Tifa would have been whatever. Tif She likes to punch things, right, She's pretty good at that, and that's game about punching. That Final Fantasy Explorers game that's coming out, Yeah, it has a lot of those characters in it, doesn't it. Yes, I guess they showed some of that. That's kind of interesting. Yeah, that's also got like there's I don't know if they're pre order or if they're just in the game. In it, she's a lot, right, Yeah, of course. Yeah, there's even like weapons that they showed it in the marketing. It's like unlock legendary quests you get like this and it's like, I don't know, staff from Final Fantasy eight or yeah, Yo Cloud does its fucking ultimate attack. Yes, like that, like having the Omni slash in there and having the little like title card pop up just like it did in the PlayStation get Like, that's kind of cool. They have like limit breaks. I think I saw the limit break games at some point. Yeah, but it's kind of cool. Yeah, but uh, they should they should do that. They should, you know, they should just cram that thing full of as many fucking characters. I mean, you're you're totally like Smash Brothers. Is like the original fan service, right, I want to bring them into Mario Kart, bring it up, open it up? Uh? Will they make a cloud? Ambo? No, it's made a shoveled by Ambo and a Mega man. Right. Yeah, they're making a gold right right. No, no date on the cloud. But they're doing their own or the Smash is having its own like kind of direct style thing, you know, like a Smash Brothers only sort of internet broadcast in December, so I'll probably stay there when it's coming out. That's kind of all the salient news from Thens in a direct. But how do you guys think they did, like just you know, there was a lunch focus like twenty sixteen stuff. Well, I don't mean the lineup so much as like the just the presentation and more than anything, the spirit of it, because to put too fine a point on it. But you know, it's the first direct in the posted Water era and he basically defined those things. I think it was went fine. I think that I just I don't like their sense of humor anymore, and I think that's been wearing thin for a while, Like like the way they position you know, Reggie the head of the head of the venta you know, like the way he gets positioned as like Internet meme guy is just I think it's just it's bad that stuff doesn't work so well. I think it's been bad for a long time, and they keep trying to double down on it in ways that are just increasingly dad jokey. Yes, something yes, And there's some of that. It's just like this isn't this isn't even corny funny. It's just like, all right, guys, let's move it along. It's another joke about my body being ready. Yeah, some of it, some of it comes off as kind of trying a little hard. Yeah. And some of it though, like the I think it's a two or three years old at this point, but like the Robot Chicken E three direct stuff was kind of okay. I thought, like the puppets from thee the Puppet, Theuppets, the suppets from this year's that was that was very cool. Like some of that stuff. Some of that stuff's really good, yeah, some some not so much. Yeah. And you know, like the their donuts get he had a lot of donuts. He was really long. Like the crazy thing about that is that they were like at the end of it, it was like to be continued like it was like you're gonna go somewhere else and see the conclusion of this like no, I'm not what gets pretty dark stop? Yeah right the exist scene is just like yeah, no, it's but I you know, I think that they're they've got a line up and they've got personalities in place. They can kind of you know, that can be that the faces for that thing. So you know, as much as you missed like the kind of a WATA asks like kind of like Q and A type stuff, and you know, like the more nitty gritty things that he was capable of. I think they're they're at least they're clearly able to announce products sure, and get things done. It's a good format. It's like they get people talking, you know that shit trends like the motherfucker on Twitter. Yeah, they figured it out like I would. I would like I would totally be down for other companies stimulate that a prush Absolutely. I think it's all right. Yeah, I don't know, it's it's one of those things that like at the time, you know, in some ways you're like, well, they're just cutting the press out of the loop and talking directly to people to an extent, but like as the we're here to comment on it, you know, weren't here to, right, I mean, it's not actilitate the announce it's not It's not like it's undercutting our livelihood necessarily. But I say that more as a fan of video games and as a person who likes for the people who makes them to talk to me, like you say, you know, like that's someone who wants to receive information, Like it's a fantastic format, like setting aside, like our role in the whole process. Sure, yeah, definitely, I enjoy it. Two more news stories Whip the Room. JJ Abrams and his Bad Robot Productions are teaming up with Chair Entertainment makers of Shadow Complex, Shadow Complex Tooty Blade to make Complex too. I got bad news for you. It's not Shadow Complex, but it is about spies. Okay, all right, I haven't thought about that. I guess that's some consolation. I did read about this and go like, what if this was kind of like Shadow Complex. I mean, it did it could be. It's probably not. I think you're probably not really reaching there. It's called spy Jinks, which is not the worst name. That's that's a pretty good name. But it is actually I don't know what it is. They didn't really say yeah, uh, the quote about it is a quote a unique blend between an action strategy game mixed with really dynamic world building with a healthy dose of RPG character development. Is this like a Steven Spielberg boom blocks things like okay, cool, go for it. Well, I think the most telling aspect of this, well, so it's on Unreal four, which of course it would be because Share is owned by Epic, But the most telling aspect of this is the platforms they list, which are phones, tablets, and PC. Oh boy, that's that is kind of so no consoles mentioned, Like you have to assume it'll be built primarily around the touch interface, so who knows what it is? But they did say what action action action dashed like they hyphenate action strategy, so I feel like the strategy must play some significant component in this. Epic just fucking just randomly announcing games all over the plays like, yeah, god, what was the other thing they announced? Uh? Paradox, Parallax, Paradox, para Paragon, Paragon. It is a paradise, is okay? Paragon? What is that? It's a mobile? I think I may is it really? I don't know it it has heroes, yeah, city and City of Heroes. No, they are they are They announced like they said, Hey, come to this website. We have a new game, and then you get there and there's nothing about the game. There's just hey, we've got five characters and they've got abilities. Pick which character ability you want. Is that that metal card I got in the mail like two months ago? I don't know is that what that was for? I don't know. I just had an epic logo on it and a single word and I forget what the word was, but I bet that's what it was. Man, I don't know. Whatever. Uh man, that's what is that? Like four plates they're spending now? Ut Fortnite? Yeah, Fortnite of course by Jinks and Paragon right, well, of course, I mean Chair is kind of separate from it. That's U. Like the little, a little write up that Austin did on the site for this is cool because he I had no idea about this, but he went back to a big talk that J. J. Abrams gave trying to find it in the story. Uh oh, it was the twenty thirteen Dice keynote. D the JJ Abrams gave with Gabe Newell, where Abrams was like pretty critical of like storytelling in games and kind of had a lot of negative things to say about the way that it's done these days. Let's see him do better. Yeah, man on a phone or tablet, what have you ever done? JJ? Abrams? Yeah, put your money where your mouth is. Exactly who is J? J Abrams? Don't know what's his name? Oh Man? Super eight was almost good? Yeah, it was good. It was like eight percent good. I liked it all right, we'll see how that develops. Lastly, have you heard of night Die? No, it's a fun name. It is, Uh, nightdive is a I don't I don't actually see the full name of their Nightdive Studios at night Dive Studios. I was the story from I pulled it off a rock paper shotgun. It doesn't say it just says nightdive and it refers to them in the plural, or it conjugates the verb in the plural, like fucking English people, do oh Man are responsible for their God never, I'm never pulling one of your stories again. Rs. Yes, yes, that's yeah. Are you excited about the latest RESI mate? Oh Man? Right, it's okay, should should fight a second war for independence? Uh? So, Nightdives thing is that they kind of go out and get uh you know, they license old properties and sort of bring them back and like put games back on sale that have not been on sale long time. Stuff like that, Like they did that with a system Shock Recently, they put out that system Shock and Hands Edition. Yeah, they didn't do a whole lot to it, but they gave it like proper modern mouth support and kind of you know, they gussied it up just enough, and more importantly, like you know, made it available on Steam like you wish it wasn't. Now they have acquired the full rights to system Shock huh. Which it seems crazy to me because I have assumed for years and years that EA owned that. That was what you always heard? Is that right? That? What there? What game was supposed to be Systems dead Space? Yes? Yes, the rumor was the dead Space was began life as a system Shock three at EA. Really yeah, totally. I'm trying to remember what the lineage is. EA published two, is that right? Yes? Although not the first like the first one was Origin right? Oh wait which he bought Origin? I fuck? Yeah? Right? So that's why. Like it, system Shock was an Origin property, and then EA bought Origin sure and published two. I think is right right anyway, The point is like system Shock two is one of my favorite games ever. It's like a hugely revered series, you know, that has just been sitting there languishing for like fifteen years doing nothing. I don't know what I mean. It's not like they didn't go and keep you know, like the system Shock lineage continue. Okay, you can write Shock yes style, Yes, BioShock Happened Thief is similar in some respects whatever, Like, it's those are not system Shock games. BioShock Infinite is fucking nothing like those games at that point. BioShock had some of that stuff, but like, who was a fucking amazing first person RPG action RPG anyway? Uh yeah, apparently trying to find the quote here? Uh okay, here is the here is Here is the quote directly from Nightdive. Due to confusion over who owned the series rights and trademarks, the only way to get system Shock two was to acquire an old physical copy or pirate the software, and any potential sequels were out of the question. After some digging, I found that the game's rights wound up at a Michigan based insurance company. What a lawyer for that company told me his clients were willing to sell. Of course they were, because they had no idea what they would what. Yes, that's that's quote from a fast company story that does much kind of a much deeper interview with Nightdive and kind of talking about their business model and stuff. But yeah, how does that happen An insurance company in Michigan owned System Shock just the name alone, that's my understanding, right, That's that's my understanding based on this. But the point is, like this, this entitles him to make a System Shock three. Now, uh, Like I wouldn't think that the IP like transferred. I guess like maybe the name itself was trademarked. I don't know. But like this story straight up says that they have started talking internally about a System Shock three. But they also Nightive says that they don't have the capacity to do that themselves, so they would have to enlist outside development help for that. But also it's not like they're maybe or definitely doing an actual remake of the first System Shock in addition to that enhanced version they put out Levin just working on his movie now. Oh he's he's got his little they're they're working on a small team game. Yeah, he's got this a little like fifteen person or whatever. It is kind of strike team making a smaller still part of two kill. He said when he took Irrational down right, that would stay and and make a smaller game of some kind of It's been a while, has it? When did that happen? It was probably two years ago right over? Actually, yeah, because that happened shortly after Infinite, right after Infinite came out of Team Yeah, Infinitely came out of early teen thirteen, early yeah, okay, was early part of the year, that's right. And then I guess that was a couple of months later or something that they shut down Irrational. It sounds right. He doesn't make games quickly though, so so we might might be a little while anyway. Fucking weird and crazy. It's some shock name is alive and well and in the hands of people who want to do stuff with it. So that's yes, weird is the word for. That could be great, or it could be completely could be nothing, It could be yeah, yeah, or like it's the worst thing that could have happened. Is then now system shock is back in the hands of someone who wants to do something with it. Maybe no, right, uh yeah, time will tell. We'll find out. It's moving to emails. Yeah, alright, picking up, moving into emails, standing down, all right and get comfortable. Okay, okay, here you go, BombCast of Giant Bomb dot Com. Take my belt off. Huh all right, let it out and do these pants here? Yep, yep, only the top button please, it's gonna pull these down around my ankles. Think of your co workers. Just it's I just need to everything's out at the table, all right. Yeah, I can't see what's going on over there. I got these I got these monitors here blocking my view, so you can kind of do whatever you want. Oh believe me, I am. Let's get to these emails, all right. Well, while you were feeling old, Ethan has a question for me something. All right, Hey, BombCast crew, wonder if you guys had any experience with the Metrion, specifically the now defunct PlayStation store. I became aware of these when Sony closed many, if not all, of their Sony Experience stores and saw that this was one of the first that existed focusing on the PlayStation brand. I read launch events took place there, et cetera, and was wondering if it was a mecca of gaming like I imagine, or if it was just simply a store that sold a lot of PS ones and twos, like you want to go look at a Vio Yeah not really, Yeah, I mean this is pretty similar to like a Microsoft store. Ye, well he's talking about specifically the one here in downtown San Francisco Merion. You know that was their buildings. But you guys used I'm sure you guys have been to the Metric Target. So it used to be a Sony theater up until the whole thing up up and up until up until what did they sell? Not that long because it's been in the last four years, a handful of years. It was literally the sign outside literally said the Sony Metrion AMC Like well before I moved here, right, Yeah, they they owned that entire complex, that whole weird like quasi shopping mall for putting in like a video game hal walk of Yes, there was a there was a walk of game or something. The games that we used to here's Laura Cross. We used to get press releases when they would add like new names to the Walk of Game. It was just like Marios in the Walk of Game, Like, no ship that guy. Really even after that scamp, I'm gonna put pac Man in there. You think that washed up old guy? Uh? Would you write up those stories? But I definitely ended up there at some like launch events, like for different games and stuff. So I was there for the p S three launch. Really we went to the Metrian. We were doing a live video feed from there that was beamed back here and we were there. So we were there covering the launch and I remember walking through the line and this is the PS three launch, so keep in mind that the Xbox three sixty had been out for a while, uh, and talking to people in line about like what they were doing and what they were getting, and it was just like straight up just dudes, and there was like I gotta have my Madden. It was like, dude, that game has been out on the other the Xbox for a while. I don't know what like, but you know that that was the power of the Sony Brandy was so huge and like people are like, oh fucking Xbox. Xbox had not come anywhere close to proving itself at that point, no, just a year into the three sixty or whatever. So it was just that was really that was a really weird moment for me, of these people just like like just had this fever for the PS three for reasons that like totally already existed on the Xbox. Sure. He was like, dude, you could have been must have been a rough year for you, huh, because you could have been doing this all right. Now, whatever, man, get a PS I mean, you should get a p S three. It's probably good. I mean, you know, you remember the stories about like muggings for PS three's in the parking lot of the night of launch and stuff like. I remember around the PS three was intense for me, the like we were there, so we were there covering it, so we weren't really in line to get consoles or anything like that. And I remember we were like talking to Sony Pruh and being like, so what do you think I mean, can we like can we fucking buy a PS three or like what are else? They're like, maybe hang out? Maybe hang out, and maybe I was like fucking of course. Not like the once they started selling those things, it was a cavil. It was just fucking nuts, man. It was. It was trying to watch remember what happen, and because I was in New York for that launch. Yeah, that was so cover was that we did like tandem from both cities, like it was the fucking Times Square Toys or US that one. God it was cold as fuck and we were here doing the thing here. Yes. Also, no, that was the Madden launch. I would say, what was the what event did Ozzy Osbourne play on a fucking rooftop one? And I think it was for a launch of a Madden I don't know, but I was definite that that was in New York. I was definitely not at the head Yeah, okay, I would remember that was. I think that was like Brian Eckberg out there covering the fucking midnight launch of Madden. Man. That sounds about it. That sounds about right. Yeah, because when you're the world's largest video game site, you need to just kind of cover everything and just say, like, I don't know, let's cover all this stuff. Maybe it'll be fun. I don't know, Yeah, maybe it'll be a good event. Sure, No, it was never I remember doing a story back then. I went to Walmart, Target and Best Buy to all those lines the night before or whatever and just asked everyone in line. I pulled them all and I think it was like I talked like maybe one hundred and twenty people or something, and one hundred and I want to say it was like one hundred and four or something said that they were just doing it for eBay. Oh wow. Yeah. I hated that for the way too. That's a way higher percentage than I would have expected. It was like overwhelm high. Like I was surprised when somebody said like, oh no, I just really like PlayStation. That's super depressing. Yeah, Like I see a lot of people talking about like Star Wars tickets or going through the fucking roof now, Oh I guess that would happen right, Briggslist and stuff too. Anyway, to answer your question, that Metrian Sony store was just a big Sony store with a lot of That place really sucked. Like I remember when that place went in, thinking like, oh man, they'll be like that's huge entertainment complex. Right, there was a bar arcade. There's a jillions still there, isn't it. Yes, the jillions of stores still have an arcade. I don't Okay, yeah, probably not because it was like it was like kind of a decent sized arcade. I remember going there for a couple of events and they were like, here's a card with a bunch of tokens on it, and I remember hanging out of that and never paying to play games or jillions ever again or at that at that place ever ever again. They had the grid there. Wow, they had the grid Midway Joint. Yeah. Yeah, it's Boon involved with that one. Yep. Yeah, yeah, totally. Was that like an eight player set up or six players? Six? I think they had a four, but six was the standard. I think six was the limit. Okay, damn you go to California Extreme. They have that there every year. I want to check that out sometime. Have you not been? No, No, I guess. I mean, granted, I've never been, so I can't say for sure, but you guys should go check that out. I almost yeah, I almost made it here. It's been a couple of years since I've gone, so I think I'm due to go again. It's it's definitely one of those things where a lot of the same games are there every year, so I usually check out a Midwest Gaming Classic which happens so yeah, that's that's a that's a great time to the Wisconsin one. They drove through that one year. Yeah, seriously, Like, yeah, they do a really good job. I want to go to. There's a really good curated like museum there, a lot of cool stuff. There's a Portland expo that I hear like a classic expo that I hear good about, do good things about. There's a museum opening in Austin. I think really like a video game like history thing opening down there. There's a thing over in Oakland and I forgot the name of it make No, yeah it make. It's an acronym, right, Yeah, yeah, I think I know what you mean. Yeah, something like that. Yeah, guy that runs it was at our big live live show party and he was telling you about it. Yeah that sounds cool. It is. Yeah, I checked it out. Yeah, lots of cool paraphernalia there. They've got a really small space and it's kind of disorganized, but yeah, they've got some really cool stuff. Like I think a lot of it was the from when Game Pro closed. Oh sure, Yeah, there's a lot of like you know, you look at our office and we've got all kinds of weird shit. So it was all of their game Pro was around a lot longer earlier. Yeah, they would have weirder prototype ship. Weirder God, you're right there. Some yeah, and you would check it out like you know, you just pay a little donation, you know, it's it's neat. Well, uh, now I'm trying to think make for the guess the second week running, we didn't really talk about them opening up that into no PlayStation. Maybe one of these days. Oh yeah, they cracked it open and powered it up. It didn't Yes, you know CD ROM does not work. Oh no, yeah, let's fix the biospios appears to be on the cartridge and the cartrids damaged. Yeah, shp it boots any like retail snest cartridge they put in it though, so that part works. But I guess they were saying that like like Secret of Manna started as a CD game, right, and that like potentially you know that they could maybe find like prototype discs of that thing or something, but who knows. That's such an early prototype of the hardware that who knows if they might not run the software they could find, that's what it is. Next email comes in from James and last week's podcast, you briefly debated whether Sega released a remake of Golden Axe. Dear sirs, have you forgotten about the two thousand and eight Golden Axe remake whose main character was the female barbarian and controversially at the time, featured several topless characters. It is a thoroughly forgettable game. I know. I owned and completed it, and your discussion made me even made even me question its existence. Is that beast writer? Yeah, beast writer. Yeah you could like shoot fireballs back at majors and ship That game was really bad, but yeah, kind of satisfied. Yeah, but as the keepers of video game knowledge, I believe it is your duty to have savant like details of even the most mundane areas of the field. That said, I was thinking about. I was thinking that maybe the Old Game Show deserves an accompaniment like the Forgotten Games Show, or simply the Forgotten Ones that showcases games that were released but nearly everyone has forgotten about. I'd mentioned a few examples, but of course I've forgotten. We've we've we've got some ideas around that. Yeah concept, it's kicking around. Yeah, I liked I liked this idea. I wanted to throw it out there, so okay, we're building a list, okay, Dan, and I've got a stack of games. Is that that one that we're talking about? One thing? Alright? Not probably a twenty sixteen thing. All right, we'll let you go, James, plans are foot. Uh that gold next game is not qualified? Okay. I want the new Vector Man that canceled Gritty reboot. I feel like they showed that at E three everything. I feel like I remember seeing like that in Streets of Rage running on hardware, and they were gonna do Altered Beasts two. Yeah, but that Altered Beast came out on PS two. There was a that was the one that did come out. Yeah, okay, all right, I want Doctor Man. But Rector Man is Streets Race. Those were Dreamcast games, right, I mean Vector Man. I mean there was new ones, right, No Vector Man was like PS. Okay, so this would have been the same batch. Okay, yeah, all right. I feel like at some point they started doing a Streets of Rage for Dreamcast and walked away from it or something. But I made a final fight street Wise. Oh god, remember that, like Gritty Bomberman? Yeah, oh god, I reviewed that Act zero Yeah, yeah, hell of a game. Whatever one wanted, like also, if I remember correctly, super shitty about achievements too, So it was just like a fucking nightmare top to bottom, no redeeming qualities. Really took this office by storm. I remember, fuck man, oh boy. Next emails from Brendan, Hey what hi, hello my room. My roommates and I were talking about what movies to watch. My friends suggested The Godfather, and then I suggested The Warriors. I then realized that these are both video games I played on the PS two. Do you think it's time for more classic movies to become proper games? Which movies would you like to see become a game on the new hardware? Which movies fletch? Yeah? Okay, sure, gretty mystery solving, but you know book fletch, not movie fletch. More heroin all right, I can think of a comics series. YEA Hack Slash would be really cool? Okay, yeah, I think that would be suited to like a really B level action game they Hack and Slash. Perhaps, No, man, Okay, it's it's kind of campy horse, it's dating sim yes, of course, yep, The Running Man, yes, and Glad bided on little. I'm gonna say somebody should finally make a Citizen Kane game so we can stop having that fucking conversation. I'm past the point of, I mean ingesting the people make a heat game anymore. Yes, yes, every time someone tries it goes so wrong. I mean I think we did. The last time we talked about it, it kind of you know, yea, it became clear that that was not a that was a feudal endeavor. You can't you can't capture that lightning in a different kind of bottle. I was thought that, like make a new game out of some old movie. It was like a super weird kind of cool. I remember I remember taking Escape and stuff like, yes, yes, I review the Great Escape. I remember the Warriors in particular. I was just thinking, like, what, like what that movie came out before I was born. Yeah, but that seem that seemed like the most fucking rock Star movie. I guess, I guess, let's you know, what's a fucking dope movie? Warriors? I mean that could be fucking Warriors games. Fuck you? Like okay, yeah, no, I believe in you rock Star and that that movie is super New York, right, and like rock Star is all about New York. And then related kind of Americana, so that Yeah, you're right, that makes sense. I want to effective way of playing the Blade Runner game. They made it. I think it was Westwood Studios, a d game. Oh yeah, yeah, I think didn't Vinnie and Dave played through something they would have done at one point. I think they lost their save or their finish the whole thing. I should. Yeah, I'm gonna go back and take a look. But yeah, if anybody can find it like a super effective way of playing that I would like to know, let me know, all right. I looked at my bomber Man a zero review, give it a two point nine out of ten. Nice, not quite a three point How do you work in a metal gear reference? It's actually there is one in there, Okay. I remember getting Economy Booth Tour it E three back in May, and I was walked right past all the metal gear solid information that I desperately wanted to straight the bomber Man at zero. You're the worst I hit. I checked that butt. Did you have a quota? Did you have to get one? I don't think I realized that happened till I went back and read my overviews. That's almost that's almost scarier. It was like a goof and you were like, fuck it, I'm gonna write about Midle your solid and everything I write, I'd be like, awesome. The idea that it like somehow just slipped its way into everything. The very first word of my very first review is snake. And that isn't a God of War review. The first line snake Dante link meet cradles first word, first review. That sounds that sounds like you. Yes, that sounds like some video game writing right now. That's perfect. No, that it was ten years ago more than that. Yeah, all right, well that sounds like old video game. That sounds like modern video game writing a lot of the time. Speaking of me. Speaking of Metal Gear, here's an email from Chris. Judging from its overwhelmingly positive reception and high score average, it seems highly likely that Metal Gar Solid five will pick up multiple Game of the Year awards from various outlets. Sure, however, I worry that after Konami's various updates pushing users towards the FOB system plus related micro transactions, the game may no longer be worthy of the title, which raises the question when judging a game for Game of the Year, should these updates be taken into consideration the offline version of MGS five that most people played during the launch week. Since the servers were busted technic technically no longer exists. Should the game be recriticized in light of the new updates, Yes, I think that's fair. Yeah, yeah, totally. Yeah. Just seeing the stuff Drew has been going through now, it's like, holy shit, they changed all this stuff like this. It's not the way it was. It's a weird thing. I don't know that we've always played pretty fast and loose with Game of the Year right standards. We give it the level of seriousness that a Game of the Year awards deserves. I mean, it's it is as subjective as it gets right. That whole process and discussion, I think that game is going to be real interesting to discuss. Yes, if nothing else like it, for that to be a big excuse to revisit that game and on multiple fronts looking forward to that, Yeah, I think yeah, Game of the Year is gonna be really discussion. I think I haven't felt as conflicted about a video game as I felt the last time. I felt very conflicted out amount of your solid game. It's been a good twelve, thirteen years since I was that rung up about how I felt about a game. I wasn't conflicted about five at all. Like I love this shit out of five. It's my confliction is between that and maybe other stuff that came out this year. But like, I think five is incredible. Sometimes you start to wonder, and it's, you know, it's the conspiracy theory approach to a lot of this stuff, But sometimes you wonder if games are going to start like holding back some of their maybe negative features past the room that's gross and motorsports micro transactions. This week, I just saw that and that was a big part of or one of the big parts that was one of the problems with five. It sounds like they've got ways to just like actually turn off the display of those messages permanently or you know, like in an option that makes it kind of go away like heavily. Yeah, so you know that's clearly not the same as five. But it came out in like September, right, Yeah, it's like a good two months after release. It's like, it's crazy. I'd been interested in seeing a list of games that have kind of done that. That's it's a real good point. Well, you know a lot of games do it once they're kind of initial business falls off and then they like new revenue or whatever. This must have been in the initial plan, right, Well, it's like, what's this isn't like an AMMO going free to play or something. This is this is Yeah, I mean, you know they this is you know, the same sort of thing they've done in the past, like the idea that it wouldn't be ready on launch daily. It seems a little weird, Yeah, agreed Derek from alban New Oregon. Folks in the South called beanies toboggans. I lived. I lived in both southern Alabama and the Panhandaa, Florida for years, and this was everywhere. How can such a large number of our population be suffering from the same mass delusion? What's a beanie or a toboggan? Toboggan is a nit cap that goes on your head. Sometimes it's got a little puff ball on it. That's a beanie. That's a toboggan snow vehicle that you ride on. I thought the bean can also be that. I can also be that. Yes, I'm with you. I grew up thinking that a beanie had a propeller. Yes, that's also those propellers. So what's it took? That is also a making of words? But in Canada, yeah, that's not I spent some time down and stuff. I'd never ever heard of one of those hats being called a toboggan. What the hell? Then you live in the Fixed South. I guess I grew up in the wrong Wait wait wait where did you Atlanta? I didn't grow up there. That's okay, okay, yeah, quite quite some time, all right. Maybe it was maybe love. It needed to be exposed to it in your formative years for you to absorb that little piece of culture. But yes, yes, I until I moved to California at the age of twenty three, I never called those hats anything but toboggins. What the yep? Oh you're you're one of the Carolina Boys, Dan, Yes, I'm not gonna put this. If it didn't have a propeller on, it was still a beanie to you? It was just a hat, Yes, if it was. If it was the hat without the propeller, would you still call it a beanie? Why? Pictures? Like what character? My think? Is it like a Martin Short character that I had one like it doesn't even it doesn't have a bill. It's just like a like a it's not like a Yama color. It's colored like a hot dog on stick costume. It's like a parachute. Yeah. I don't know if those ye's no build on it. And yeah, but that'd be a beanie propeller, that's the thing. Yes, when I got out here, what I know is it tobogging just the knit cap like you would wear if you want to stocking cap whatever. Yeah, but like people call the people here call those beanies, no propeller, No, those are stocking caps, right, Like I'm just saying that stocking cap seems like something you put pull over your head to rob a bank. Okay, yeah, that's pantyhose. Those are stock stockings. Oh I've I've called them beanies. I don't know that stocking cap. As long as we can all agree that tuke is bullshit, I don't even know what. Yes, get the funk out of here with that. This is debogging. Ray from Tampa, Florida has a little bit of clarification on last week's question about games coming out on Tuesday. Just listening to your podcast and discussing a listener's question about why games are released on Tuesdays. I think you're correct. It is tied to delivery truck schedules with other media. The reason behind deliveries of media being on Tuesdays is a hold over from the music industry. Music is released on Tuesdays because the music charts are published on Mondays. This gives a song a full week of being purchased before it would show up on the chart. Yeah, okay, makes sense. There you go. There's there's your history on that. I guess. Christian from Denmark says, what the fuck Hungary Joe? I don't know what the hell kind of messed up ghoulish brain eating horrors Joe is getting up to in Hungary. But let's get something straight. Eating brains is not something that we do quote in Europe all the fucking time, besides Temple of Doom. I had never heard of eating brains before last week's podcast, and it sounds absolutely revolting. There you go, I hear. It's huge in Europe. That's all they do. Yeah, every morning, every morning, scrambled eggs and brains. They go to Sainsbury's. The United Kingdom, it's brains city all the time. Get the go to Tescos. Let's go pay six ninety five. Get the moons over my brain. Brains over my hamming. There you go, that's okay, that works. Mind's over my hammy. M Yeah, U sound way worse if you tell if you say I'm eating your mind? Is that way worse? Yeah? It totally is, Like I'm meaning a brain. Brain is just brain is just an organ, but a mind is where the person is. It sounds like you're like, there we go, like you're eating their personality or something. Still, yeah, all right. Brian from Columbia, South Carolina with some more Game of the Year talk. Last year, at the end of Game of the Year, Jeff was reminded and still furious that Skyrim beat Out Saints were the third back in twenty eleven. They got me thinking, looking back, are there any other changes you would like to make? Two official Game of the Year lists? Where there games on hindsight that you feel ranked higher or lower than they should have based on your feelings. Now, he included a link to a spreadsheet of all of our Game of the Year stuff. But I trust that we remember and you guys feel free to chime in about your own past experience. You know, I feel it's really bad that we kind of nickel elected Lethal League on our multiplayer last year. I think we plan completely forgot that game. I don't know. I don't know that we discussed it. I don't know, and I don't know that we discussed it. But I remember feeling okay about the categories last year. Sure, sure, a lot of good kind of local multiplayer games last year. Yeah, leth League's cool, but I don't know, it's really cool. I think it deserved discussion though, And I seem to remember having a discussion with Jeff afterwards where we're going, oh shit, we forgot Lethally. Yeah. Uh. I still maintain that met of your solid four is the best game of two thousand made or deserve to win that award? What did we get? A four? M We had a big fight of Game Informer of the Year every fucking year. Yeah, that's what's the fun about Game of the Year. That's why we started just recording our deliberations here, because we came out of years and years of arguing with thirty other people a GameSpot going like, man, if people could hear the arguments that go on in this room, and they were like oh wait, won't we just record them? Yeah? That one was x COM versus Mass three, and I remember like most of the staff was very passionate about xcom myself, including and certain people being very high on mass Effect three. There's always some stick in the mud that holds things up way longer than they need to say. The idea of being like high on mass Effect three like in that timeframe is fucking crazy. A couple of people were pretty high on it, and uh yeah, I remember really wanting xcom. But they're like poles going around and staff things like numbering systems to see what it should be, and yeah, massfect three one. Oh there's some oh it did Oh yeah, oh wow we we we resoundingly, we resoundingly went with x Com like mass Effect was like number eight on the list of ten or something. I think we're in the right place now. Yeah, yeah, let's see. I kind of I feel ambivalent about two thousand and nine when it came down to Batman versus Uncharted two Uncharted two as long as City no Arkham Knight arkhamstyle, I'm sorry the first one I'd say, as hard as I would go Batman, Yeah I didn't you did it? Was it was you and never been a big Uncharted. It was you and Vettie for Batman. I remember as hard as I had, as hard as I fought for Batman, I mean for Uncharted at the time, looking back, like, I don't know, Maybe it's because I think about what Batman did for games. I mean, right, maybe it's a negative thing and somewhere. No, Actually, what I think about is how good that game was and it in itself, like as a self contained thing. Like maybe it's because so many other games have come out and done exactly what in Charted two did at the time, whereas nobody's quite matched like that just kind of Oh nine was also two? Which game? Modern Warfare two? Was it? Yeah? I remember that was I want to say, wait was that? No? Yeah? Because two thousands that was World four? Two thousand and eight was World Up. Oh you're right, you're right. Nine would have been I think that was my game of the year. O. Nine was Modern Warfare two, and then Uncharted and then Batman. I want to say, yeah, yeah, Street Fighter in nine eight wasn't it was? I remember I remember video games by which office we were in when we were playing them, and we were playing Street Fighter in the Saucelito basements would have been, could not have been. I don't know. I'm horrible at time, so I couldn't tell you anything about one year or the other, what we picked or anything like that. And it's just all all the years run together. But yeah, Batman's better than Charted. That's that's clear. Like time has borne that out in a way that like we could not have even foreseen them. I think you're right. I think I might have to go with you on that one. I know he's right. I think that, But Saints Row I probably would have. I'd still back that over Skyrim. Yeah, Saints Or the Third is an incredible product, and it's it's just it's still contained fucking weird things. It's an okay open world game. Oh yeah, yeah sure, I mean, you know, I'm not saying it's perfect. But the things but the sky Rim also in okay open which one can you play as a toilet? The things both both actually yeah, built in but in Skyrim built in. When Skyrim it could be a clean toilet clean toilet mod, Yeah, that's that was the first paid mod. That was the that's what's set yep, if they if they, if they had launched that as the first paid mod, that whole system would have worked out. That's fine. People have been like, no, up here you go, here's my money, nine dollars for clean toilet fucking let's do it. Uh all right, Well, I'm glad you brought that up because Frank has an email about fall Out four mods. I remember during E three that fall At four would get mods on the Xbox in PlayStation four. How is this going to impact the paid mod environment on Steam Workshop? It seemed like Bethesda was going all out on the paid mods support for Skyrim. Are the mods just going to be free on the consoles but then not free on Steam Workshop? We haven't. They haven't even said paid on PC. That hasn't been announced yet to answer his question, but it seemed like a good reason to bring it up, Like, yeah, like mod tools, it looks like are kind of early next year a fall Out four. Yeah, So do you think that's something they can get away with not addressing right up until that stuff launches? They certainly try and then the way they want to go, Like you know, that's kind of the million dollar question. I think the only thing they've said about installing mods on the console version is that they're like, we wanted to be kind of a one click process like easy, very console like solution. So it's you know, it's you getting it. Well, so PC mods are already out there, right yeah, yeah, but you know they're like like the tools that are really gonna, you know, help you dissect and put it back together again. I guess so, but you can release those, but there's you know, hey, guess what the framework of that game is a lot like Sky, but I'm talking more in terms of public perception. Can they give this game a couple of months of of nothing but free mods and then turn around and say, hey, we're charging from ods now? Well, it's does it have it doesn't have mods support on Steam right now? Oh? In terms of actual workshop site is posting a weird shit like replace the level up noise with John Cina music or something, you know, like literally that is one of them doing good work. Yeah, so you know, stuff like that is existing like that. There's some text replacements and some other stuff like that, but it seems like it hasn't been huge widespread or huge huge scale replacements. The game just came out, so who knows. Sure, Yeah, I guess when you put it in that turn in those terms like the mod's being available on Steam Workshop in particular, like putting a price tag on them. There might I don't know. I am super curious to see what they end up doing with that. There might be something they roll out alongside the mod tools they like, Hey, the tools also give you the ability to upload them to this network that is then going to vet them for sale and all over or whatever. I guess, yeah, that would be the time. And then I have no idea how to respond to his actual question of how that affects the mods support on consoles. Yeah, may not know that. They may very well charge for them there if you know, if they do, you know, yes, they do charge on PC. And absolutely the reason why they wouldn't just do that across the board it would be a lot. In fact, that probably seems like where the real money opportunity is is rolling this ship out on the console. They'd have a lot easier time doing it on consoles, and they would on PC. We have no other way to get it than the way they want to serve it to you. All right, Email from James right again with a very very very serious problem. I used to live in a small town in Michigan, the local pizza place used to serve something they lovingly called a seafood pizza. They started rolling it out during a lunchtime all you can eat buffet special. Whenever they made the pizza, the entire store reeked of fish, and it was pretty clear that most people were repulsed. Ship. Here's the thing, though, it was absolutely delicious. I know now. The problem. The chain stopped selling and making the pizza around a decade ago. I've tried to recreate this pizza and I can't figure it out. I moved across the country since then, so I can't go back and question the employees. I've contacted the chain and asked for the recipe, advice, or even hence regarding how they made it, but they haven't responded. I'm not going to give you that secret recipe. Please help. From what I remember, the toppings consisted of cheese and shrimp. But the main I know. But the main issue is the sauce. I can't remember what it was. I do remember it wasn't red sauce, and the info blurb described it as tangy. It was some sort of excuse me, it was some sort of concoction they made at the store, and the best I can describe it as is a zesti aoli, something that flavor wise you might find a taco bell. It's probably like the case of da sauce they have. Maybe I've made numerous attempts every capturing this glorious pizza, but I've never managed to get anywhere near the right flavor. Please BombCast help me recreate an appropriate sauce for this pizza. Maybe it's like a shrimp cocktail. Yeah, that would make sense. Cocktails all a little little sweet as well, then I think, so the sauce canna have a sweetness too, I guess, so, yeah, okay, sure be a sweet tang. You know what I'm saying. Tang Alfredo sauce on pizza. That's the way to go. I would, Yeah, I could. I could see alfredo and PM food and nah, just get rid of that seafood crap. Just do alfredo and chicken and a bunch of cheese. Here's what you do, go to I'm putting chicken on a Pizza'm getting barbecue. So that's also great. That works. Have you been to North Beach Pizza since you moved here? No? But why have I heard of that? It's fucking everywhere. No, it's just a It is just a completely average, run of the mill pizza place here. Really, maybe there's a zillion North Beach pieces here. I might have actually eaten that on Saturday. Okay is it? Do they do delivery? Yes, there's a ton, there's They're all over the place. I probably had this. Go to go to North Beach Pizza or just order and get the Golden Gate Special. Yeah, what's that? It's clams and garlic. What it's not a pizza. It's just a pizza covered with clams and garlic. No. Yes, go to Masa Pizza and you get macaroni and tees and Matt potatoes. I'll eat your pizza if you nacho on your pizza. Yeah, I'll eat that pizza if you eat the clams and garden. I mean I would try it. I eat an entire large Golden Gates Special about ten years ago and have never been back to their restaurant since it was a bad experience ten years ago. And you still pimping it. Yep, No, because I just I want him to experience saying it's amazing like I thought, was I cured me of any desire. We're out in New York for the PlayStation for like just pre launch event thing. We ended up. I ended up one night with Adam and Carter at some random pizza place that had like macaroni I remember that's on the pizza. Yes, I remember you guys going off to that thing. I miss Mesa pizza. The place was so good. Yeah, I love it. The Southern gentleman, that was my favorite. Cool well, the macarani cheese is my favorite. Southern gentleman was a second. What's on that mashed potatoes? Uh, some kind of chicken and they just pour up the bottle of Southern comfort on it. There you go. I think there was wild bacon, cheddar, mashed potatoes. I don't think I had gravy on it might have had French fries on it. It was good. Like how thick did the crust have to be to support all that ship? It was actually the normal size? Yeah? Can you pick it up? Like? No, right, you had to. Yeah, it wasn't like floppy. Well he had to fold it typically. Okay, so you can still, but you still it was pretty solid cause that sounds like a forking knife. Pizza but it really does. Know we we always got the thin crest. I'm sorry. The mashed potatoes sound like it would weigh it down like crazy. I mean, it wasn't like a heaping, you know, scoop of mashed potatoes. What the fuck are you doing? Spread out? You gotta fit all the other stuff on there too. They had one where it was just nachos on it, like tortilla chips and nacho cheese, and it's pretty good, good stuff chips on a pizza. Then they put the fritos inside the burrito, so that sounds like it's probably pretty good too. All right. Another email from Michael. There's a lot of good emails this week. I have to read all of them. Michael from Indiana, Alabama. Is something interesting happens to me today. My friends and I were walking down the street to Cadoba. We live in a college town. We're about to enter Cadoba when I see beer bottles in a bush out of the corner of my eyes. It's like a except they have a really good caso sauce. Okay, yeah, are you saying do not? They don't have a caso sauce. They don't have it at all. Okay today, I thought you were trying to say that Chipola had one that was ship caso sauce. I have it every day, not every day. I could do a lot. I like mos mos. Yeah never, I've never I've heard mos big in like Texas and stuff. Right, we're a lot down in the South, the real South, not that Carolina though, I was kind of Baja Fresh. Yes, we had one of those in North Carolina. There was one of those. Okay, there was one of those pretty clost to here for a while, like years and years ago. We're going over there a lot for burritos. Man, Britos are pretty good. I like Britos, yes, yeah, all right, Michael says. We're about to enter Condoba when I see beer bottles in a bush out of the corner of my eye. I don't think much of it at first, but a few seconds later I say out loud, hold on, I took a few steps back and pull out a fucking six pack of full, untampered beer bottles with the case. My friends look at me with their mouth to gape, and we all start cracking up, and I just say, I have to take this home. Yeah, I wish I were making this up. The beers consisted of three i pas and three wheat beers. Anyway, what is the weirdest thing you've ever found in public and took home with you? Oh? Geez, I don't Oh, I don't know if I would. I guess that's okay, like that, you can't really it's pretty hard to mess with the beer bottle of that being obvious, right, yeah, yeah, I guess that's probably probably probably already. I don't know what we gotta. I have a taco The taco bell in my town closed down and moved to a different location because it originally didn't have a drive through and it was They took over a long John's Silvers, So I have the drive through menu for a Long John Silvers, like the actual display. Yeah, just the just the transparent card. It's just the card. Wow, not the full unit obviously. Where is this menu? So my garage okay, looks chicken planks or something like that on a wall or something. An Eyehop carpet that I took from an eye Hoop harpet like it was like it was the when you walk in, they had a giant rug with the Eyehop logo on it, and I managed that's kind of cool. Get that out. That's all right. I think I dropped it back out drop at the eye Hoop after I left college. Oh so you no longer have it? No, I don't know how I got it out of the Eyehop. But it was late at night. Oh wait, this was not It's not like they were closing the restaurant and giving no. I just straight up was stole a giant carpet. Okay, great, yeah, good stuff. I had an RTD two cooler that was from a gas station. I think I got that the legit methods. I think one of the dumbest things though, and I was super drunk. It was that like a cup any party. There was a martial arts school that was like right next door to the restaurant, and for whatever reason, I took their sign and I put it down my pants. And I remember going back to the party saying just how deadly my crutch was. And I found it in my pants the next morning. Nice. Yeah, I've had people as more Taco Bell stuff, but the Taco Bell, the original Taco Bell, which is now a Wings place. It's the it's the Wings Place in Pedaluma, by the way, original Buffalo Wings the place, except sometimes they're closed. You call them Saturday and they're like, we're fucking clothes to day. They're like, fuck you man, I need a case of Dia and some handburgers. They also sell wings. Uh. But anyway, that is where the old Taco Bell used to be, and they had an actual bellow. It was like it was that that old stop taco bell where they literally a bell and the bell would just get stolen constantly and replaced like the meaning meaning the people who stole it would put it back. Oh wow. So it was there was like it was like a crosstown rival high school thing for a while, like painting at that high school's colors, and then the other high school was stealing it back and painting it. The taco bell just like happy to go along with all this. No, probably not, I don't know. But the Taco Bell was centrally located at the time, so it was like your your West side parties and your East side parties would let out or get broken up by cops and everyone would just go to Taco Bell. So it was like a really good place to get in a fight. Yeah. Man, it was really a good place to get a fight and they didn't have a drive through, so that's that's why they moved to another location because there's no fucking drive through. So yeah, really good place to get a fan. I don't know, I'd like traffic cones and shit like that. She was just like, let's you know that there was a friend of mine who was now a cop. Uh and and we would just kind of pass the traffic cone back and forth, like I would go put it on his car. He didn't live that close to me. We would drive over there, creep out there, fuck up, fuck around with his car, put the traffic cone on it. At one point we just squirted mayonnaise all over the car. This fuck it like shit you shouldn't do to someone. Yeah. Yeah, And I think at some point it just had escalated to a point where it was like, this is probably not okay anymore. Have I told the story on to hear about the framed photo in college that I put down my pants? Probably not okay. It sounds vaguely familiar. It's a fairly short one, so I'll just tell it again if I did. I was waiting for safe Ride, which is a thing at KU that they had where it's for a drunk student and you need to ride whatever you call and it's free and they drive you home. And I mean, some friends were waiting in some lobby of something. I don't remember if it was an apartment building or a bar or something, but there was a framed, weird something on the wall. I can't remember if it was a painting or a photo something weird. It's in a glass frame. And I was like, ah, I gotta have that, and I stole it and I took it off and it was it was big. It was like a foot on one side, maybe eight inches on the other. Yeah, and you know, would on the outside glass in the middle, put it down the back of my pants. Smart, just because I didn't want anyone to catch me, of course, And we're waiting and waiting for safe ride, and it usually took forever because since it was free everyone, it was always like an hour or two weight or something. And we're just waiting on Mass Street. And I went and stole like a chair from the bar or wherever we were to sit down on the sidewalk because I was drunk and didn't want to stand up while I waited for safe right, so I took the stolen chair and set it down. Then forgetting that I had the frame photo in the back of my pants, I sat down and it shattered and all the glass went right into my ass like not asshole, but like into my cheeks there, and I was like bleeding through my pants and had to go home, and like probably like four in the morning by the time I got home and had to just sit in a bathtub and pull glass yards out of my ass. Wow, that's what you get, don't I A. Yeah, sometimes drunken Shenanigans goes fucking south. Yeah, it happened a few times, not that specific, Not that specific. I learned you don't sit down when you have a frame photo in your ass your pants. I don't really have anything super good, but there was. I've had multiple instances of finding twenty dollars bills on the sidewalk outside of my house. If you've had this, I had. I found sixty bucks outside of a theater that I worked. I found a hundred dollars bill. So we used to live pretty close to a supermarket Lucky's, okay, and sometimes it's just ship would blow up on our lawn a lot, so it would be a lot of receipts and shit like that. But I found a twenty dollar bill once, and I found one hundred dollar bill. Damn that. I took that one hundred dollar bill and bought the Atari eight D eight hundred version of pac Man. Wow. Wait, how much was that the game? It was probably like seventy bucks games were those games were pricing They were computer games. Man, I have that, and my parents ripped me off because I don't know. I gave them the hundred and I got pac Man back in return, So I don't know what the fuck happened after that, but yeah, yeah, you got the better end of the deal. Yeah, I think so that was the decent version of pac Man. Sure, all right, Uh, let's do like two more emails Christian from Maryland. I didn't know if the money on the sidewalk thing was like some weird drug dealing thing or something. So here's there's your segue into this email, in which he says, I just wanted to throw this out there after listening to Jeff and his description of the need for speed Crew from this most recent game. From the quick look, they all seem like horrible losers but harmless for the most part. Then, Jeff on The Bobcast joked about how they all seem like the kind of assholes that sell xanax or synthetic weed. While the former drug is almost impossible to od on, it should be noted that the ladder is horribly dangerous. There is no one brand of synthetic weed, and some strains have been known to kill people. It's so dangerous that a former heroin addict and a recent NPR article said that synth weed scares the hell out of him. Synth weed aka spike is no joke and you shouldn't fuck around with it. I know this sounds like eighties arab drug war rhetoric, but this time it's actually kind of real. I just thought i'd share really quick because oftentimes people don't realize there's a huge difference between synthetic weed and regular weed. Yeah, it's there's there's a lot of really fucked up synthetics out there these days. He I'd never heard of the term spike before it. Yeah, I've seen it as spice. I think, Yeah, I think I've heard of that, but apparently like there are different I mean, there are different brands. Yeah, that's the thing. Yeah, I looked at the right, Like, I look into this a little bit, and there is no agreed upon definition chemically for what this stuff even is. People are smoking fleek, now, right, that's someone wouldn't named a drug fleek, great, because why wouldn't you good stuff that always manufacturing process different for different types of Yeah, it's trying to hit the same receptors. Okay, that's better. That's totally that's totally better. It's like it's it's trying to hit the same receptors. But okay, but they're they're synthetic cannabinoids, but apparently they react in the brain very differently from actual weed. But the stories about Flocca are amazing because it's like, it just sounds like this very cheap and guaranteed PCP nightmare that is, like, I mean, it sounds super fucked. Who knows if that's real or you know, trumped up by the media. But here's this headline as soon as I fucking searched it, new scary street drug drug called flocca or five dollars insanity on rise in the US. That sounds like a fucking subway sandwich deal. Come on, we got five dollar insanity blowing it out like is that legit, like like it's a cheaper alternative too, we because like weed seems if it is not an alternative to weed, it sounds like an alternative to PCP or neither. Is this other stell Like this other stuff does not apparently does not affect people in remotely the same way. I don't understand these these things kids in the street drugs. Seriously, I've done too old for this ship. Yeah, Like it always weirded me out when people would take ship that like was new enough that it was only it only had like an alpha newmeric game. Yeah. I had some friends that were in like getting research chemicals and going down that Fuck it's just like that, what are you doing to yourself? Oh? Just taking some two CT seven bros? Like, dude, fucking what No, Like, okay, you're in my house taking fucking T seven. Tell me what to expect, so if like like if they don't know, so yeah, exactly exactly. Oh yeah, yeah, I have a synthetic weed story. Oh god jesus, I've never taken it. Okay, I have a story involving it, all right, is u w pay per view? Many applist called Bragging Rights twenty ten? Oh yeah, yep, okay, I've heard this one. And I afterwards, Mark Henry invited me to a strip club. Okay, yeah, totally. Of course I went to a strip club with Mark Henry. Yeah, so other guys our truth, Alberto do Rio, Chavo Guerrero. We were all at a strip club and I got extremely drunk, and uh. I started walking home, probably like two in the morning or something, and I decided, like, you know what, I got anxiety. It's getting pretty bad. At the time, it was way worse than this man. I was like, you know what, I hear so much about, you know, people use weed for like medical stuffing, medicinal stuff for anxiety, and Steven like, I was never a weed guy, and I was like, yeah, maybe I'll give this a shot or whatever. And here I am at two o'clock on like a Sunday. It would have been, yeah, like, where are I gonna find weed? I want to try to wait and see that helps. Also, you're hammered. That seems like exactly the sort of right time to be like, yeah, so I want to get into the drugs. It's an informed decision, but for the right reasons. I genuinely wanted, like the anxiety, like I heard it was actually helpful. I was like, maybe I'll look into this. Hammered at two in the morning on a Sunday, so i'd say, bye, Mark Henry, I'm gonna try to find some weed. Leave the script. I mean, you should have stayed with Mark Henry. Well, the strip Glove is closing down. He would have known where to get I don't you don't know that he might he might have been holding right there. Not saying that he is using or anything like that. I'm saying as a celebrity, Oh okay, in a in any any city of connection, someone who knows, someone who knows okay. Well, in my mind at two in the morning, I'm think, okay, it's Minneapolis. It's two in the morning on a Sunday. Oh right. Sex World is open twenty four seven six sex Sex No, it's three stories, three stories of sex. It's a it's a sex place that is three stories tall. And they got a big neon sign that says opens the escalation there, like what's on the first floor as supposed to what's on the third floor. They closed down the third floor. I've been there in a closed down the third floor. But here's the thing. No, I think there's still stuff going on up there, because the whole five years I lived there, all the third floor windows glowed bright red. Of course, so they started into a grow operation. Yeah, yeah, they's have the lights on. Yeah, so you're right to go there, probably right, right? And so I remembered from having gone into sex World a couple of times before sure that they sold pipes and stuff. And I was like, I bet the guys at sex World no where I could find some marijuana, man. And so I walk in there and I asked the guys like, Hi, I've never really smoked weed, but I'd like to smoke weed for my anxiety and see if that works. You sell pipes, do you have a weed? And they're like and they were like, yeah, we can sell you weed right here. I was like what. Oh. I was like, this doesn't sound right at all, Like you know this, it's Minnesota. You just doubled into a sting operation. Well I didn't think medicinal marijuana was a thing in Minnesota. And they're like, yeah, we'll just sell you weed here over the counter. I was like that's legal. I'm like yeah, well, so yeah, we'll sell you this they called it like a one hitter or something. It looked like a cigarette, but you're supposed to like and then whatever do temple gift. But they're like, okay, so yeah, you can buy this one hitter thing. And then over here is our weed just under the counter, under this glass thing next to the pipes and stuff. And again, even drunk, I'm like, this doesn't sound right. And the one day showed me was it had the Sonic the Hedgehog logo on it. Okay, I have no price, no where to God, this is one hundred percent true. It's in a little glass tube that said Sonic the Hedgehog, and it didn't say the Hedgehog. It just said Sonic and clearly the Sonic thing with a bunch of weird, kind of flaky green stuff in it and a glass tube. And I was like, all right, whatever, and wound up cost me like eighty bucks or something something for like the synthetic stuff, and I didn't know a synthetic the time, but yeah, I bought it. And I went home again wasted, not knowing anything about how to smoke or how to do any of this stuff. And I realized I don't have any lighters because I've never smoked. Yeah, So I turned on I had a stove that had actual flames and stuff. This is another great idea, and so I thought, well, fuck, this is the only way I know how to make fire in my apartment right now. So I just shoved a bunch of the Sonic the Hedgehog stuff into the cigarette looking one hitter thing, you gotta go fast. I put it in my mouth. I turned up the heat all the way high on the stove things so there was actual flames, and halfway down to like bending down to try to light it on the dove. I just had this epiphany where it's like, you know, I'm drunk, but I can't be this. This is a bad idea. I should not do this, and I stopped and I set the stuff down on the counter. I woke up incredibly hung over it, like you know, eleven the next day or whatever, and saw that stuff and like completely even forgot that I had gone and gotten that stuff. And I took it and without ever trying it or whatever, I threw both of them down the laundry shoot of my No, wouldn't laundy shoot, sorry, it was a trash shoot. Ok. They had like a trash shoot that I was on the tenth floor and it would all the way up. So I've never smoked synthetic weed, but I did drunkenly buy Sonic the hedgehog weed after a night of the strip club with Mark Henry. That's probably for the best. You might not be here with us as otherwise. Yeah, it's a damn good story. Yeah it's a weird neck, weird Sunday night, minip. I'm sure I remember I went to go see the up and Smoke Tour Suck Drake and ice Cube was there. Amazing concert, the glowing devil endow skull telling people's spokes. Not a great place if you don't like the smell of weed, let's say. But I remember there was we were leaving it in the parking lot. Uh, there was a guy out there. He was selling like they were lollipops and I don't know, I don't know if there was anything in them or not, but he was like, but he's just like, I'm slanging the chronic legally he was shouting in that, you know, roughly let's say, exactly like that. As it it became something that got shouted back and forth amongst the three of us that went to the show that night for years to come. It was pretty good. Uh and uh, one of us I think bought one and and like liked it. Did not have any drugs in it, it wasn't It had no cannabinoids, no teach see or anything like that. But it's just flowers. So it was just like here's a lollipop that tastes like yeah. So it's just like, well, that seems like a fucking who would want that? Other people out there that smoke weed for the taste there must be right, I don't know. I mean, I don't know gets so into their fucking individual strange, Like, no, one's just out there and just like what do you I'm just smoking grass man. No, it's like no, man, this is an indicas. It's like a body. I don't think those people exist, but I could be wrong. They do. They super dom. That's weird. All right, last email, there's a real through, real quick Okay, sex World Trivia Diablo Cody, writer of like Juno used to work in the Dollhouse there. Yeah, she used to work in the strip club right next store, and also in the Peep Show. Yeah, yeah, Sinners the sub Yeah, it's a great name. Yeah, yeah, that's right. Yeah, boyd Diablo Cody or Center Sinners Diablo Cody is also pretty good name. All right. Sex World has a giant bronze penis that you can put coins into and write it like a take pictures where coins go uh into a little coin thing next to the penis. SMA. I. For for whatever reason, I assumed Minneapolis was a lot more conservative than your painting. Had a kind of weird like kind of red light that all the red light to the mid that's the same time, it's the hometown of Prince. So yeah, it seems like a big enough city that would it would have a seed under bid part of the Midwest. It seems like it would be seedier. I had to look better than the rest. Really. They had a really weird zoning restriction where you know, the strip clubs had to be within a certain block Radio down House. It was like all down town. They had one that was like an outline one. Remember the Double Deuce Oh yes, oh yeah, you remember the Doubles place closed down. But that was like the one that was like grandfathered into, like you know, being able to be outside. Right, No, you want ceed Midwest it's the Outhouse and Kansas. It's the middle of a cornfield. Used to be a punk bar like Nirvana played the Outhouse and it turned into a B Y O B strip club that was open that safe open til four am, which last call is two am legally in Kansas. And so everyone just like brought in cooler and stuff and uh and sat. That's how they field. This is in the middle of a cornfield. Yeah, it's near Lawrence. I have not been there. It's some States thing. It's not like where I'm from. Like that is just a thing because what they serve or don't serve there depends on and that yets here too. You can't do you can't serve alcohol and be fully nude. There's always weird laws with that. Like Outhouse was fully nude, but since it was by OB, it was fine. So there could be alcohol and fully nude because it was BYO. Because they weren't selling the ALcom Yeah, so people were just bringing their colors or why was that some into some place seems like the actual way more illegal part of that. Yeah, that's how it was. I mean, okay, I don't know. Peddaluma doesn't have the Pedaluma, there was a they wanted to open. It was the place where they sold tools. And then also they had some porno tapes okay, and that didn't go down well with some people, and they were like, get to poorn out of your tool sales. So the tools there's literally the place was I think called tool sale because it was just a big sign that said fucking tool sale and they had tapes. I don't know, it's just fucking ridiculous. Indeed, I have committed a grievous error here. We had one more email. It was also about illicit substances with a video game characters, but I forgot to save the image that goes along with it that I needed to read from to make this email worth a ship, and it's there's no quick way to get it out of that other email address. So let's save that one for next week. What do you say? Yeah? And on a cliffhanger, Yeah, come back next week for the exciting conclusion to this. It's pretty good image I was really excited about.
