This weekend voted a top ten Kentucky event. Before we get more to a little ham Day's talk, Ryan Lemon, who's this segment brought to a spy. 00:01:15 Speaker 2: Well, thank you, Drew. It's an honor and a pleasure to tell you that Clar's Pumping Shop is the sponsor of this segment. Don't commit a party foul. Get tailgate ready at Clark's Puppet Shop. They have everything you need for your tailgate at home, watch party, whatever you're gonna do. You know, all good morning to start at Clark's Puppet Shop where every cup of coffee is freshly brewed. Their coffee makers grind fresh beans and brew a fresh cup every time, So ditch the expensive coffee shops and stop at Clark's Pumping Shop. You know most clark Pumping Shop also have a drive through. That's what's good. You get it drive through. D have to get out of your car to get your chicken sandwich or chicken biscuits good and a fresh cup of coffee. So they have Clarks Puppy Shop there. Everywhere there are local folks giving back to the community, sponsoring local sports teams, nonprofits, and of course the Blue and White at UK shop from people who care about the Bluegrass. Clark's Puppet Shop return refrash, refuel. 00:02:02 Speaker 4: Enthusiasm in that one. I did a little refueling with them this morning. I always let clerk shout out, Clerks. I have a segment I want to do here. It's golf related because it is one of the best times of the year. The Ryder Cup officially starts tomorrow, and it's It's not lost on me that not everyone loves golf, including the people on this show except Billy. Billy likes golf with me. He's gonna help me, but I'm gonna try to convince you all to like golf at least for a weekend. 00:02:25 Speaker 5: Okay, okay, you specifically. 00:02:27 Speaker 2: Shannon Alight. 00:02:28 Speaker 4: The Ryder Cup is no ordinary event. Do you know anything about It's okay, stick with me. It's not just golf, though. This is where I think you might like it. Hey, it's Team USA versus the Europeans. So we got a little patriotism involved. 00:02:42 Speaker 5: They heckle you for that. 00:02:44 Speaker 4: I love that, Okay, So I know this is where this is where I feel like we can get some guy. I know You're very big on why does it have to be quiet? Yes, at the Ryder Cup you can yell, you can boo, you can you say us, say right. There's even a clip that just came out of yesterday's practice round where coach Oh, the football coach is at the front of the stands leading a USA chant while golf is being played behind. So you are so far are you leaning in whatsoever to the riders? I like it so far. Like what I'm hearing. Continue, Well, there's been some big events. It's not just the crowd, the chanting and all that which they encourage. They have a few things that I think you all could also appreciate. I'll start with one big Ryder Cup moment that Ryan, you might be able to relate to. In twenty twelve at Medina in Chicago, Rory McElroy one of the biggest golfers on the planet. 00:03:32 Speaker 5: Approval. 00:03:33 Speaker 4: Yeah, representing Europe in a high stakes match. This all happens every two years. It's not quite the World Cup, but it is a big deal that's not played every year. Ryan Rory overslept his tea time. He thought they were on Easter time. They were on Central time. They got him a police escort to where he was putting his shoes on on the tea box and got there into the absolute last minute. Can you believe that an event of this magnitude, it is possible to oversleep and barely get there? 00:03:58 Speaker 2: You know, it happens at the best of us. Sometime we set that alarm clock wrong and wake up at the wrong time. So uh, I can see how it happened to him. But he made it. That's all that matters. He made it. Golf that day he tried to represent his country. Did he win? 00:04:10 Speaker 4: Actually, if that match you did win? I thought going to bring that up to ask has Ryan Lemon overslept any thing major daily? See where I'm not I'm doing golf without doing golf here. 00:04:20 Speaker 2: Well, yesterday afternoon I slept through then Infinity seminar with iHeart You. 00:04:25 Speaker 6: Slept through a KSR pre show I did at a Dog Franklin and left me hanging in Somerset. 00:04:31 Speaker 2: Shannon's in Somerset at starts at nine o'clock. I wake up at eight twenty. 00:04:35 Speaker 6: Anytime Ryan agrees to do the pre show, I just pretty much expect him to oversleep. 00:04:40 Speaker 2: He texts me, Now like three or four times a wake up ball. 00:04:43 Speaker 5: Here you go? 00:04:44 Speaker 4: Are you up? 00:04:44 Speaker 5: Are you ready to go? So you and Rory have that in common. 00:04:47 Speaker 2: Yes, absolutely. 00:04:48 Speaker 4: Do you think the police escort's fair is a big enough that? 00:04:50 Speaker 2: Yes, you have to eat it, And I know I think he's fair. 00:04:53 Speaker 5: Here's the thing. 00:04:53 Speaker 6: The next time I oversleep for you know, an iHeart event, or maybe you know, just going into work, I think I should get a police escort. You did have a police score coming into Don Franklin, No, you probably should have had one of those past. 00:05:03 Speaker 2: He's been chasing me all the way down to my seventy five trying to get down. 00:05:06 Speaker 4: They were escorting him to dine. That's right, yeah, also breaking up the code of golf. Shannon in nineteen ninety nine one of the most iconic Ryder Cup moments ever. Justin Leonard made a forty five foot putt to secure the biggest comeback in the seventeen seventy two year history of the Ryder Cup. But it was a big deal because the match wasn't over. A European still had to putt, but the American players, wives and some other people stormed the green and completely broke all golf etiquette to celebrate a putt when the round went over. 00:05:36 Speaker 5: Are you leaning into the Roder Cup a little? 00:05:37 Speaker 6: Yeah? 00:05:37 Speaker 5: I think we should do this all the time. 00:05:39 Speaker 6: I think we should take the Ryder Cup rules and apply it to golf universal. 00:05:43 Speaker 2: Absolutely. Why don't they do that on a normal golf event. Why can't the fans cheer? 00:05:47 Speaker 6: And he always been my argument, like, you know, could you imagine like Patrick Mahomes going, oh, they're being too loud. I can't throw this football right now, or in baseball you know a guy going, I can't hit you. Guys are being too loud. 00:05:58 Speaker 2: It's a gentleman's game. 00:06:00 Speaker 7: Well to that point, the energy is just different. In the Ryder Cup, Roy McElroy made a long putt and was screaming, yelling Patrick for me. Reid made a putt right after he went up to him and did the mckimba matumdau no, no, no, not today. 00:06:13 Speaker 2: Why don't they do that on a normal tour event? 00:06:15 Speaker 4: See, Billy, I think I think they're coming around. 00:06:17 Speaker 6: So we're talking about all these other sports having to evolve that golf hasn't evolved at all. It's still you know, you gotta be quiet and you can't yell out of somebody's back swing. 00:06:27 Speaker 4: Yeah, you know what, that's right. 00:06:28 Speaker 2: They get ready to they're addressing the ball and they hear clickly clicklick somebody taking up camera ban and they blow up, act like it's the worst thing that's ever happened to him. If that bothers you, somebody clicking their camera, then you don't deserve to be out there. 00:06:39 Speaker 6: I'm with you, man, you don't deserve to be there. You tell them, Ryan, but they should off. 00:06:43 Speaker 4: This is about country. All bets are off in the rider. 00:06:46 Speaker 2: So why not celebrate and talk smack and have fun out there. 00:06:50 Speaker 4: A few more moments? I think you all will like. 00:06:52 Speaker 5: Uh. 00:06:53 Speaker 4: Two thousand and eight Valhalla, the golfer named Boo Weekly. It's his one and only Ryder Cup he's only been in. At one time, he was phenomenal. I believe he went undefeated, including at one point he teed off and then rode his driver down the fairway like a bull in the back of it. Now is that a kind of golf you could get into? 00:07:11 Speaker 5: Absolutely? Yeah. 00:07:12 Speaker 6: I feel like the golfers are. They try to be too professional. They can't show any kind of personality. 00:07:18 Speaker 5: I like that. 00:07:18 Speaker 4: Ryan Lemon if you were golfing and hit a good shot, I can see you doing the boo weekly down the fairway. 00:07:23 Speaker 2: I'd do it with my shirt off, going down in the fairway, ride my driver that like Daily, John Daily, John Daly's got it, He's got it made. Yeah, okay, So what is that event? And it's in Phoenix where they throw their beer up in the air. Why don't they do that? 00:07:37 Speaker 4: I just played this spring doesn't look the same without the stands there, looks like any normal part three. But that's that's the closest thing through the Ryder Cup. 00:07:44 Speaker 6: On the regular stare like John Daily out there drinking a beer, smoking a cigar. 00:07:47 Speaker 5: That's how I would play golf. 00:07:49 Speaker 7: The last rider Creup, a American caddie, went after Roy McRoy in the parking lot after a round. They were doing a screaming match. One guy wouldn't wear a hat. That probably doesn't help our argument and drew, but that was a big controversy life. 00:08:01 Speaker 6: See like Scheffler getting arrested to me is the most exciting thing to happen in golf in years. 00:08:07 Speaker 5: I need my golfer's getting arrested. And like all sorts of things like. 00:08:09 Speaker 7: Jeffler was crying after losing last year, so he's got a big redemption. 00:08:13 Speaker 2: They should take a lesson from wrestling. Yes, had the Golfer's cut a promo before they go out there to the Rider's cut? 00:08:19 Speaker 5: Absolutely? 00:08:20 Speaker 2: Yes. 00:08:21 Speaker 4: One more Ryder Cup story I want to share, and it's my favorite. You really need to see the video. Understand this is radio, but I'm gonna do my best to paint this picture. But in twenty sixteen, a guy named David Johnson, he's an insurance agent from North Dakota. He was heckling the Europeans during a practice round. There was a putt that was like a double breaker. The Europeans like, this is an impossible putt. They're missing, they're missing, they're missing. He's just giving him the business. The Europeans call him out of the crowd and dare him to make it. They age bet him four hundred dollars. You're talking the biggest names in golf pulled David Johnson, the insurance agent from the crowd, hand him a putter with everyone around Channing USA, and he dreams it. 00:08:59 Speaker 5: Yeah, I was hoping you're going to say that one try. 00:09:02 Speaker 4: That's one you'll definitely have to look up on the electric but the Europeans could not figure out the putt. He's yelling, you steak Usa, Usa, and they say, come here, big boy, if you're so good, you do it. He throws his putter both hands going there and the crowd absolutely loses the Well. 00:09:16 Speaker 5: There you go. Leave it to an American to show everybody else how to do it. 00:09:19 Speaker 7: And this is a special tournament this year, Drew, I mean it being in New York. The captain for the United States is Keigan Bradley, who went to Saint John's, I mean, was just. 00:09:28 Speaker 8: A kid and grew up on that course. 00:09:30 Speaker 7: So I mean, this is a really special one, at least for the Americans, and they need to win it. 00:09:34 Speaker 4: There is ok ar connection. This is Beth Page Black where Matt shot. Oh yeah, yeah, maybe Matt should be out. There's there's a picture going around right now that are people getting the best page for practice rounds and stuff, and it literally it's a sign that says this course is only for highly skilled golfers. And that's kind of going around. But this is where Matt's iconic round with no witnesses occurred. 00:09:54 Speaker 2: But he finished on that round he says eighty three. 00:09:57 Speaker 5: Eighty number changes. I think eighty four what we settled on. 00:10:01 Speaker 6: Sometimes you forget what details you make it when you're making up stories, you know, sometimes you forget. 00:10:05 Speaker 2: Well, come on, we know Matt is a very honest golfer that would never break the rules on the golf netword, never pick up a putt short now to use the foot wedge. No, I think I fully believe he shot an eighty three on best page black. 00:10:18 Speaker 4: And then and then he made a front to wrap up my Ryder Cup talk because I'm. 00:10:22 Speaker 2: Very, very excited segment. 00:10:24 Speaker 4: Yeah, I had to the dumb stuff. No one wants to breakdown of our matchups and things this year. I am a little worried that the Europeans are gonna win. However, I want to ask, let's say you're representing the country. I don't know why any of us would be picked for a Ryder Cup. Hey, but in sports, what's the thing you think you could do with the country. Let's say a six foot putt, a free throw, maybe hit a curveball in play? Is country on the line? Country behind you? What's the one not like a whole round, but what's one thing you think you could do in one take. You're the insurance salesman from North Dakota that came out and made that putt. 00:10:56 Speaker 2: Well, you know, my putting skills are gore. You know you impress it. 00:11:00 Speaker 4: I figured we're gonna we're gonna throw you out on that one. Yeah, I think we're losing that war representing our country. 00:11:04 Speaker 2: But if you throw me a fastball, not a curveball, a fastball, I think at least I could hit it. 00:11:08 Speaker 5: No, who who's throwing the fastball? 00:11:10 Speaker 2: Anybody? Oh? 00:11:11 Speaker 5: Please? Paul Skans is throwing you a fastball and you think you can hit it? 00:11:14 Speaker 2: I get I get more than one. Try right, You get in a bat and it's got to be a fastball. It can't be a curveball or slider, just a fast Three fastballs down the middle. You won't get a bat on. 00:11:24 Speaker 4: The entire United States is watching. 00:11:27 Speaker 2: That's why I would not let my country down. These colors don't run. 00:11:31 Speaker 5: They strike out. Though against Paul Skins. 00:11:33 Speaker 2: He might strike me out. I'm gonna get a battle the ball. 00:11:37 Speaker 4: I like our eyes better with the Shannon. What are you doing? 00:11:39 Speaker 5: Oh gosh, we've thrown you in? Okay uh any sport, any Olympic sport, even or even it's not a sport. 00:11:45 Speaker 4: What do you think if the whole country needs you to do it, you can pull it off. 00:11:49 Speaker 5: You know that we have the rowing and they got the one guy that goes row bro. I could do that. Ro That's the one thing I could do well. Coxsman. 00:11:57 Speaker 2: I think they call it the cocksman. 00:12:00 Speaker 5: That's what they called me back in college. 00:12:01 Speaker 6: But I think I could do that. 00:12:05 Speaker 2: What about the guy in curling that just sweeps the ice They hit the curling thing. 00:12:10 Speaker 5: You gotta be able to ice skate though, right, what are you doing with well? 00:12:17 Speaker 8: I could throw a haybale if in my country needs me. 00:12:19 Speaker 5: That's not all. That's a made up event. 00:12:23 Speaker 7: Here's the greatest deleted scene in the Netflix show Wrestlers. Has to be me piping a drive down the middle for Matt's group when nobody in the group could get in the fairway. 00:12:32 Speaker 8: I was never been more nervous, Ryan. I mean, the Netflix cameras are right there, huh, And I ended up piping it. Had to sign the waiver. I think I'm gonna be on the dock. 00:12:40 Speaker 7: Yeah, didn't make the cut, So send me out there on the Ryder Cup, Drew, I'll hit a drive. 00:12:44 Speaker 4: Down the middle. Oh, we'll go alternate shot. Because I trust my my putting. I would pick a putt here. I think I could do it. Okay, so you get us to the green and I'll make it for a miracle. 00:12:51 Speaker 2: I love it. 00:12:52 Speaker 4: I had a weird story at the Ryder Cup in Louisville years ago. Uh me and my buddy we got flags. We're gonna get him signed, and we started with the European you know, knock these out and then we'll finish the day with the Americans. So we followed them around for non holes. My flag is signed by Europe's entire team. We go to the back nine and they announced the Americans quit after non holes for the day, I didn't see a single America. So at home I have a flag sign with all the bad guys. But that was in Valhalla. It is It is neat getting out there. It is a fun event that always has some magic. 00:13:19 Speaker 7: Historically, Tiger Woods never played well in this event last time right, but Kenny Perry and John Hols JB. Holks both played really well that one year when it was at Valhalla. 00:13:29 Speaker 4: Justin Thomas can be Captain America. There's controversy of putting him on the team two years ago and he played well. But we got that going on this weekend. Billy, I'm sure you'll be done. 00:13:36 Speaker 8: I'll be dialed in. 00:13:37 Speaker 7: They got killed last year in Europe, so there is like a redemption. USA needs to win this. I kind of like Drew, though Europe has more talent. 00:13:45 Speaker 4: Big Oldberg Govin, thank you all for letting me talk golf for a segment. We'll come back to a little more Kentucky sports. Take your calls. Still got a lot of ham Day to talk about. We finally planned our We're not gonna call it hog calling. We're gonna rally the pigs. Rally the pigs because you know, it is nice of h for ham Days to host us, and they got a big trophy trophy. It's just the call in the hogs, that's what That's what Cal does. We want to let Cal have that with the Chicken people. 00:14:08 Speaker 5: We will rally the pigs. 00:14:09 Speaker 4: I think we'll do the final segment and do we A volunteer out of the crowd is gonna teach us, and then we'll all try our hand at it. 00:14:16 Speaker 2: Johnny Rocker's Dad, mister elder, he's gonna come up and tell us how to do it. 00:14:19 Speaker 4: So we've got that coming up, and we want to hear more from you all on the phone line A five nine to two two eighty seven. We'll be right back from Lebanon. Welcome back, KSR. Drew Franklin, Ryan Lemon, Shannon the Dune, Billy Relich to Mario Maitland, a lot of people from Lebanon, including Johnny Older the Rocker. We're happy to be here at ham Day's. It's a top ten event in Kentucky. We've already sampled the country ham biscuits and very good and uh Shannon, well, actually let me get this ad read out of the way that I want you to talk about your history here. 00:14:49 Speaker 5: But first, yeah, real. 00:14:50 Speaker 4: Quickly, from our friends at UKFCU. There's some wild mysfloating around about UK Credit Union. Let's go on and bust them. Myth One, you've got to be part of UK to join, Bless your heart, that's such a myth. 00:15:00 Speaker 5: Myth. 00:15:00 Speaker 4: Two joining as a whole ordeal, Come on, that one's just plain wrong, myth busted. The truth is a lot of Kentuckians are missing out on great rates and real benefits, and you can join at one of seven local branches are online in just under three minutes, whether you wear blue and white or not. Because the UK Credit Union were not just for some, We're we're for y'all like that, Oh y'all all, y'all reads membership els will be required insured by n CUA. That's UK Federal Credit Union. Shannon Country Country hand Days hand Days here in Marion County. This ain't your first roadio, Oh no, no, this is way back. 00:15:34 Speaker 5: Oh yeah. 00:15:35 Speaker 6: My grandparents were big fans of ham Days here in Lebanon. So as a kid, we would get up I was telling Billy this on the pre show. We'd have to get up at like five point thirty in the morning and drive to eleven in because we had to be the first people in line. My grandfather would not be He did not want to stand in line, so he wanted to be the first people there. And every year probably from like for me, I would say around nineteen eighty seven through two thousand thirteen, fourteen years something like that, straight every single hand day. 00:16:02 Speaker 5: We didn't miss it. It didn't matter rain or shine. 00:16:04 Speaker 6: We were there getting that country breakfast and I had a biscuit from cedar Wood this morning. They've also got a really good sausage, egg and cheese biscuit. Is that what you're you're doing? 00:16:14 Speaker 2: Got a ham and chi, but. 00:16:16 Speaker 6: It's it's really good stuff. Always enjoy ham Days. Like I said, Alice Blue Gown played here a couple of years ago. Always a lot of fun. My dad was actually born in Lebanon, so I've got some some tie ins with Lebanon. 00:16:25 Speaker 5: I felt like, yeah, I think that's right. 00:16:27 Speaker 4: So was Abraham Lincoln. 00:16:28 Speaker 2: That's right. 00:16:29 Speaker 5: You're wearing a Lebanon shirt. I am yeah. This is from last year or year before. 00:16:32 Speaker 4: Mario wears his like every other day. Mario loves some Lebanon. He knows the Epps family. Mario knows Marion County. Well, Ryan, what are some other big festivals around the state. We would love ham Days, But you're an Owensboro god. Been in the Barbecue Festival a lot. 00:16:45 Speaker 2: Barbecue Festival is a big, big fan of that one. 00:16:48 Speaker 4: We were just at the Mount Laurrea Festival, Laurel Festival. 00:16:50 Speaker 2: Got Udays. The Chicken Festival in London, I think is this weekend because I think they're debut in the movie the documentary about the South Laurel basketball team. They're gonna play it at New there in downtown London, and then they've got the big world's largest frying. 00:17:04 Speaker 4: Pan, not but I've seen the picture. Yeah, the world's. 00:17:07 Speaker 2: Largest frying pan. They make all this chicken down there, so that's a big one too. 00:17:10 Speaker 7: Did the Louisville Catholic Picnics count because those are some of the most fun times I've had. Shan, you've been out there before. I mean, oh, Tony Delight used to do their show every day from one and. 00:17:19 Speaker 5: They always they would do it, but they would do it their shirts off. 00:17:22 Speaker 6: I never understood that there's a picture of Tony Dwight and you with your shirt off. 00:17:27 Speaker 5: We don't need to do that. 00:17:28 Speaker 6: Ryan does that at some of our you know, pep talks, but I don't think we need them to do the entire show with this shirt. 00:17:33 Speaker 8: Off, all the beer drinking and gambling that stuff. 00:17:35 Speaker 6: But a lot of great festivals, and this is one of my favorite ones at Kentucky that happens every year and glad to be here. I was telling the guys, I may come back on Saturday and just look around and you know, see some of the vendors that are here. 00:17:46 Speaker 2: Go to Hillbilly Days, Dangle Boon Festival down in Barble. I've been to Hillbilly Days Rock down in Corbin much. 00:17:52 Speaker 4: He'll Billy Days with Carl Towns one time for his autograph signing. That was Matt's mentioned Romel being down there. 00:17:58 Speaker 5: Yeah, you know they. 00:17:59 Speaker 4: Usually get a couple UK basketball players there around to meet our buddy and have a good time that many times. 00:18:04 Speaker 6: Ryan, what do you think your pokey pig five k Tom would be? First of all, what is a five k? How many miles? 00:18:09 Speaker 2: Is three point one mile? 00:18:11 Speaker 6: Three point How long do you think in the year twenty twenty five of our Lord it would take Ryanline to run three miles? 00:18:17 Speaker 2: Okay? First of all, run is a stretch. Okay, I'd be walking. So I'm saying I could make in one hour, give me one hour. I could make a three point one race one hour. 00:18:27 Speaker 5: Okay. 00:18:27 Speaker 2: So you're gonna walk twenty minutes a mile? 00:18:30 Speaker 5: Do you think you can walk twenty twenty minute a mile? 00:18:32 Speaker 2: Yeah? 00:18:32 Speaker 4: Okay. I've been on the cover of the Courier Journal for being in a five k. Really is this little athlete right here that you're looking at twelve. No, I actually met my wife there as well. It was the color Run. Are you all familiar with that? Oh? 00:18:45 Speaker 5: Yeah, they throw paint all over it, right. 00:18:46 Speaker 4: Oh, we had a Lexington ten roof team to celebrate opening ten roof in Louisville. We did not go to bed the night before, and then we got on a bus and went all the way to Louisville. The party continued on the bus. We get to the color Run. I am not my best self and I wasn't gonna run five k anyway. So me and a friend we start the race. We see a little cut through path and we jump to the end. Nice didn't cross first or thing we weren't like still in the glory. Were still pretty far back, but then it hit us. We get back to the area whereveryone's celebrating. We did it, and we are red and everyone else's rainbow. We didn't think that went through because you run through areas where they actually throw colors at you. Everyone comes back and just a smattering of purple, yellow, green or No. Me and Corey just just cut through the red part. So that's my one five k at the. 00:19:34 Speaker 6: Color Run and didn't think that one there you should have went up and gave somebody a big hug and just rubbed their colors all over you. You got busted. 00:19:41 Speaker 4: I had a big American flag that's the picture on like a pole like Hacksaw Jim Duggans, so that that was on the cover. I wanted to ask you about another lubll festival. 00:19:48 Speaker 5: Yeah. 00:19:48 Speaker 4: I saw videos of Louder than Life. Yeah, the mosh pit. I know people mosh at rock concerts, but that where they like separate and run at each other. 00:19:59 Speaker 5: Like all of the wall of tower. Yeah, the wall of running at each other. 00:20:04 Speaker 6: Yeah, that's not something I partake in. When that stuff happens. I try to get out of the way. Usually I'm either way in the back or all the way up to the front, but I don't want to be anywhere in the middle. That's something they do where they separate. Like you said, so imagine sixty to seventy thousand people, they all separate and they make this big aisle right down the middle, and then whoever's up on stage, we'll say, all right, everybody go, and then they just run into each other like like I really, I don't know, crazy version of red Rover, you know, and they just they mosh, But that's nothing that I want to do. I feel like you could break some bones easily doing something like that. 00:20:36 Speaker 4: I've always heard of mashing and all that at concerts, but it's what they did normal or is that unique to Louisville? 00:20:41 Speaker 5: And what the hell you have? 00:20:42 Speaker 4: The sound of Waiver people were blooded up punching. 00:20:44 Speaker 5: That's part of it. 00:20:45 Speaker 6: I mean, when you go into the pit, you have to expect that something like that's going to happen. I mean, even if your crowd serve the way they've got it set up now, there's all concrete, so if somebody drops you on your head, you're going to be hitting concrete. 00:20:56 Speaker 5: That's just it's just part of it. It's part of it. 00:20:58 Speaker 6: When you get into the mash and you realize that there's a good chance you're going to get your head knocked off while. 00:21:03 Speaker 5: You're in there. 00:21:03 Speaker 2: Wow, you you really make a sound appealing. I can't wait to go next week. 00:21:06 Speaker 6: I mean, for somebody old like you, you should probably stay in the back and grab a love chair. 00:21:09 Speaker 5: Yeah. 00:21:10 Speaker 4: Well, I've just been at the first one. Bourbon got an absolute blast, much more laid back, Yeah, and I figured they'd be similar, but that video was wild. I wanted no part of this. Yeah. 00:21:19 Speaker 6: Yeah, it's on a different level, louder than Life is Bourbon and beyond on steroids. 00:21:23 Speaker 5: But they just announced the. 00:21:24 Speaker 6: Numbers over four hundred and fifty thousand people between the two that broke a record for both both of those festivals, and forty three million dollars brought in. 00:21:33 Speaker 2: That's why they do it. 00:21:34 Speaker 5: For the economic impact of level, That's. 00:21:36 Speaker 2: Why they do it right there. 00:21:37 Speaker 7: So, if you're in the mosh pit you catch an elbow or a fist to the face, is that just like you got to take. 00:21:41 Speaker 5: Care of It's part of it. 00:21:42 Speaker 6: You only a rule of a mospit is if somebody gets knocked down, you pick them up. 00:21:46 Speaker 5: You don't allow them to just get trampled. That's the only rule. 00:21:48 Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, Well one person I would definitely want to be in a mosh pit with I have to do it is Bob and Jamestown. Oh yeah, there were always some way I can talk to Bob and James. Really, I can maybe even invite him to a mosh pit. Rick, do you way to get ahold of Bob and James? 00:22:01 Speaker 5: Sound? 00:22:01 Speaker 2: Now? All I do is push this button here and he got. 00:22:04 Speaker 5: Him hit the boll button. That's not here. I'm bob, you have the floor. 00:22:08 Speaker 4: I'm not cutting you off. 00:22:10 Speaker 9: What do you say? Guys? I was at that Hoo concert in Cincinnati and I picked a few. But anyway, I got a new shoulder on Tuesday. I'm down here on the deck. It's beautiful out here. I'd like to be up there eating some of that Hense country hand. But Eddie brown Is he showed up the turtle man. I know he's over there with his mother in Bradfordsville, but was busy with some of those garboge sides, cans alligator snappers. 00:22:35 Speaker 4: Well, we might try to call him. We have his number. Do you have his number where we could just double check mine, make sure it's right. 00:22:43 Speaker 9: And he's a trip anyway. I had to put a shout out for Tiffany and Valerie over at Good Samaritan Hospital. They took the best care of me Tuesday afternoon when I got that new left shoulder, and time. 00:23:01 Speaker 5: In the book. 00:23:04 Speaker 4: I'm glad your shoulder surgery went well. Be honest, I was gonna let you say whatever you wanted. That was a pretty normal call. 00:23:09 Speaker 5: With Matt Gon. 00:23:09 Speaker 4: I was gonna let you say whatever, but I guess we gotta go to a break call back, Bob, Matt's got next week we want to hear from you again. It's Drew, Ryan, Shannon, and Billy. We'll be right back at ham Days in Marion County. This it's not Matt Jones. Matt Jones is currently running with hyenas in Southam. This is Drew Franklin running with hyenas here next to me and Lebanon and ham Days. A couple of segments left in the show. We've had so much fun so far. We're gonna wrap it up with rallying the Pigs in the next segment, where Billy can try to become a two time hanm Days champion. But first we'll talk a little more ball Shannon. I told you to bet the under yesterday Red's Pirates. I got it at seven and a half. 00:24:54 Speaker 5: It was seven. 00:24:55 Speaker 2: Seven Yeah, go the under. 00:24:56 Speaker 4: Yep, oh you hit it. 00:24:57 Speaker 5: It was seven. 00:24:58 Speaker 4: Yeah. Well, congratulations. Tonight we got a little Thursday night football. Everyone should had the chaos. 00:25:03 Speaker 2: Bart White, Cardinals and Seahawks. 00:25:05 Speaker 4: You can be throwing away, not throwing away, throwing out DraftKings stuff, some funn Yeah. 00:25:09 Speaker 5: Yeah, stop by. 00:25:10 Speaker 4: Also, but I'm a little behind on life here lately, so I got a few things to do. 00:25:14 Speaker 2: Yeah, we begin. We've got some free tickets to give away to the Eric Church concert tonight, so come on by. We'll play a little contest to try to give those tickets away. 00:25:21 Speaker 5: Look at all these coozies. Nobody wanted the coozies. 00:25:24 Speaker 4: We'll start throwing those out. 00:25:25 Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, I'll take those beads too. 00:25:27 Speaker 4: Ryan doesn't get to take the beads. I don't trust him. 00:25:29 Speaker 5: We don't know what Fran's gonna do with those beads. 00:25:30 Speaker 2: Speaking of which, as a glass text machine, I've been waiting to read this one. 00:25:36 Speaker 5: Yeah, how about it? 00:25:37 Speaker 2: And we're talking about Marissa having a crush on Nick Saban, Yeah, Billy's girlfriend fiance. This one is well, just missed it. I just lost German on you. 00:25:49 Speaker 5: Yeah. 00:25:49 Speaker 2: It's basically said, my wife has a crush on Ryan and she's thirty. 00:25:55 Speaker 4: Oh wait, wait, wait, wait. 00:25:58 Speaker 5: Somebody actually, yeah, wife, I gotta find it. Yeah, yeah, you gotta find it. Let me tell you that number you got it doesn't exist. 00:26:05 Speaker 2: I had it and then one. 00:26:08 Speaker 5: That's one of those Matt Jones text you just made it up. 00:26:11 Speaker 2: It is Ryan. Don't feel so bad. My wife has a crush on Ryan thirty by the way. 00:26:17 Speaker 5: Okay, okay, that's enough that Ryan. Don't you have a girlfriend. 00:26:23 Speaker 2: She's working right now, you she's in class right now. 00:26:26 Speaker 4: All right, thanks for that addition. 00:26:28 Speaker 6: Uh. 00:26:29 Speaker 4: We're talking a little football NFL tonight, which reminds me Billy. Yesterday during Cover zero, I had my weekly Titans meltdown like I do. 00:26:37 Speaker 8: Uh. 00:26:37 Speaker 4: Brian Callahan is still, unfortunately our head coach, but he handed off play calling duties. A big fan of that. I wish he'd hand off all duties. 00:26:44 Speaker 7: Uh. 00:26:45 Speaker 5: But Billy always. 00:26:46 Speaker 4: During our show, Matt wants ability to give one fun fact. And we're previewing Titans textings yesterday, and Billy told me something about my own favorite NFL team that I did not even know. 00:26:56 Speaker 7: Your new play caller, the coach Bo Hartiger played at the University of Tennessee. 00:27:02 Speaker 4: I knew that, which is fine. You know, we got a lot of balls around the Titans. I deal with it all the time. 00:27:06 Speaker 7: Only played one game and then quit the football team to join the tennis team. 00:27:11 Speaker 2: So my new play the Titans. 00:27:14 Speaker 5: Yeah. 00:27:15 Speaker 4: Every time I say our floor couldn't get lower, I'm like, well, surely we've hit the bottom, especially after the end of the first half last week. We made a questionable trade, and now Billy is telling me that our new play caller quit football to play tennis. Guys, I'm just in a dark place with football right now. I need to win big, at least with Kentucky on Saturday. Titans probably aren't gonna win a game, but Billy found a way to make it even worse with that fun fact yesterday. 00:27:39 Speaker 2: That's your DraftKings safe bet. Just bet the Titans to lose every game this year. 00:27:43 Speaker 4: There you go, Well, it's not much fun when you're learning that your coach. 00:27:47 Speaker 7: They're gonna fire midseason, right like Callahan can't be the coach at the. 00:27:50 Speaker 4: Nf year and if not, I will continue to complain about it. Another news topic that went viral today. Have you all seen Zion Williamson. He has not been eating country him. 00:28:00 Speaker 8: Is he looking at. 00:28:03 Speaker 4: You will not believe if he walked in right now wearing a Zion Williamson jersey, you would not believe he is Zion Wimson. He is so skinny, he's like bones. Now he has a bit, he has a jaw. You know, he's always been kind of round, even when he was at his best. I don't know if he's on the ozempic here let. 00:28:20 Speaker 2: Me he's slim down. 00:28:21 Speaker 7: I can see his jawline a lot that Yeah, Oh that's no way, that's him. 00:28:26 Speaker 4: That is him. 00:28:27 Speaker 2: Look there, he is right there. 00:28:29 Speaker 5: That he well, he needed to he just lost a little baby fat. 00:28:32 Speaker 2: He needed to trim down if he wanted to stay. 00:28:36 Speaker 4: Like this evil twin go tee thing going on. So my question is we had all given up on Zion? Yeah, a little bit. And I know he's a duke guy, you know what. We have our thoughts, but he was supposed to be this big, spectacular, high flying player and he's he's had moments when he's been healthy. Wait, been a big problem in New Orleans. Now that we see skinny Zion Olympic Zion is there? Will he be back? Is there more Zion life? I mean that sound that's got to be one hundred pounds. 00:29:04 Speaker 5: Yeah. 00:29:04 Speaker 2: I definitely feel like if he's dedicated himself that much to lose the weight, he's gonna dedicate himself that way on the court. I think maybe he's in for a big season, like his best season by fall. 00:29:13 Speaker 6: I mean, yeah, he's still young, he didn't forget how to play basketball. He's in shape now, and you know he was decent when he wasn't in shape, so imagine how good he could be now that he is. 00:29:22 Speaker 5: I don't know. 00:29:23 Speaker 7: This just feels like the bare minimum, right, I mean, he was getting he's getting paid millions of dollars to be the face of the franchise and the camp. 00:29:29 Speaker 8: He can't make weight, like let's let's see, let's see. I don't know. 00:29:33 Speaker 4: Well, now he's getting made fun of for being too skinny, including me doing it right now. But there's a part of that. It's like, poor guy. First, I'm too fat, I'll lose the weight you wanted me to lose, and now every one's making fun of me. On the internet for being too skinny. But that was just a shocking development from the NBA today media day camps and all that stuff coming out. Also, have you seen the Mike Trout four hundredth ball thing that happened earlier this week? No, what happens for you baseball guess Yeah, Mike Trout had his four hundredth career home run. Big deal, big milestone, big deal. A fan, I guess the name, Alberto Fan catches it. You know, Trout needs the ball, fan gives it back to it. He'd probably get, you know, whatever. 00:30:09 Speaker 2: He wanted, jersey bats hats. 00:30:11 Speaker 4: He said, I just want to play catch for a few minutes. So Mike Trout came out and the two of them just played catch after the game went their separate ways. 00:30:20 Speaker 5: Is cool? You okay? 00:30:22 Speaker 4: So I was gonna hit you with the weirder awesome. I know you guys might get a little greedy from time to time. Do you think he should have asked for more? Or is that just a nice wholesome moment where he and Trout threw the ball around a little bit. 00:30:32 Speaker 2: I love it. That's awesome. That is a baseball moment that everybody will talk about now. And it's no no not being greedy, does want tickets, doesn't want a jersey. He just wants to play catch with these heroes. And we know somebody who looks up to who wouldn't want that as a baseball fan. So I think it's awesome. 00:30:45 Speaker 5: I think it's great too. 00:30:46 Speaker 6: A lot of people would probably get a bunch of stuff signed, and then probably that would end up in a sports card business and they would end up selling it to somebody and making money off of it. I think it's a really cool thing that he just said, let's just go play catch. Hopefully somebody can some really cool video with pictures, so that's so we can have that forever. 00:31:02 Speaker 4: That is Croud ended up signing a few things, But the guy just asked to play catch. You didn't ask for anything. 00:31:07 Speaker 8: That's a shocking answer from Shannon. 00:31:08 Speaker 7: I mean, if you're the wife of Alberto and he doesn't come back with the ball that you can put on eBay for two hundred thousand dollars, like, are you just not livid? 00:31:17 Speaker 2: Like what do you mean play catch? 00:31:20 Speaker 8: I mean he's a forty year old man is and he's not some kid. 00:31:23 Speaker 4: Will say I didn't expect you Yeah, I thought Shannel was gonna want to check and front row. 00:31:29 Speaker 8: Season tickets for the next two years. 00:31:32 Speaker 4: You're talking it. 00:31:33 Speaker 2: The best sports scene in all of Hollywood is when Kevin Costner asked his dad, Hey, dad, you want to have a catch right at the end of Field of Dreams. There's something about playing catch. 00:31:41 Speaker 5: But Trout isn't his daddy, but they're about to say that's. 00:31:44 Speaker 2: His hero, that could be his hero. There's something about playing catch. Whether it's your buddy, your hero, your dad, your kid, it's just special. I love it. 00:31:51 Speaker 5: Even though he probably could have gotten a lot more. 00:31:54 Speaker 2: There's no you know what's money? You know what's what's a what a couple of one hundred thousand dollars to get you out day. 00:32:01 Speaker 5: We started talking about money. I'm with Billy. 00:32:03 Speaker 4: On another one, we mentioned Tayshawn, Prince and Rondo went to practice YAI this week. Uh they've come out in clips videos behind the scenes, which is cool. But they were also inducted to the Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame this week. Uh, Ryan, I know you covered both those guys, Tayshawn, especially when you were still in the biz. On that end, he got some good Tayshawn and uh and Rondo members. Excuse me, Cobb was the one. Yeah, sorry I caught it, but uh, Prince and Cob going in and then also Rondo was joining Prince and practice earlier this week. 00:32:34 Speaker 2: Kayshawn Prince was just off the court, a really quiet, shy guy. He was kind of hard to interview and talk to because not just his nature, he just was just kind of a quiet dude. But boy, he get him on the court, he just was just a beast. One of the best ever play here. Uh. Rondo was hard to talk to. He was kind of difficult to deal with. I mean, I remember Alan Cutler went to him one time and asked him of five or six questions and every answer just yes, no, no, Yeah. He just didn't want to talk that day. 00:33:00 Speaker 4: And now Cob he's doing media, we see a little bit of him. He does a great job on SEC. But to time Rondo back into it. The video came out of what he was telling the team uh stuff, and he kind of even admitted, you know, like not knowing how much the university would mean, yeah until later in life, because he just came back and may got his degree. You know, his kids have connections here. So the Rondo you covered as a freshman has grown up and has had a lot of good things to say about UK, and he's still around all the time. I don't think it's certainly not the last time we'll see Rondo being a part of a UK practice. They're talking to the guys. 00:33:30 Speaker 2: I loved what Rondo said to the team. He came in and said, man, you gotta appreciate what it means to wear that jersey. You may not appreciate that you get older like me, but once you get older, you realize what it means to put that jersey on. He fels. I played with the Lakers, I played with the Celtics. The best fans anywhere are right here at UK. I mean Rondo really, I think gave a really good talk to the team the other day. 00:33:48 Speaker 4: Definitely, and we talked about Kemp yesterday. Jojo Kim joining us with a good time for the South Carolina game. You know Randall Cobb going in the Hall of Fame. He had pretty good South Carolina game himself too, catching the h one of the one of the the game when he passing one of the bigger games that turn things around with that team. 00:34:03 Speaker 2: Randall Cobb deserres a lot of credit for what happened with this program, the Jojo gain, that South Carolina game. But Randall Cobb kind of like John Wall make Kentucky basketball cool again. Randall Cobb kind of made Kentucky football cool again, you know, So we owe him a lot of gratitude. 00:34:14 Speaker 4: And people forget hard Line who hit cops. 00:34:17 Speaker 2: That's true. 00:34:17 Speaker 4: He's on the staff right now as an analyst. I even forget that. Sometimes you look over and it's like, oh, yeah, Mike Carline is back wear in UK blue. 00:34:25 Speaker 2: Mike Hartline's senior season was as good as any quarterback we've had here in a long time, and people don't even think about it because of what was going on at the other at that time. He was great. And you've heard Stoops. You've heard Stoops talk about how good he'd been with the quarterbacks with Cutter, you know, trying to help him develop into the quarterback they want him to be. 00:34:40 Speaker 4: Yeah. 00:34:40 Speaker 7: Well, and the other player, Tayshawn let's put his name and number in the rafters, right, I. 00:34:45 Speaker 8: Mean perfect, It's about time after something like this. 00:34:47 Speaker 4: We just found out we played North Carolina en up at nine thirty at night. Let's just do it. 00:34:51 Speaker 2: Then, perfect time to do it, representing you know, remembering that at North Carolina game we hit five threes. That's the time to do it. 00:34:57 Speaker 4: Do it. 00:34:58 Speaker 2: It's time. 00:34:59 Speaker 4: It's also time to it to our pig rally. We've we've we've we've we've gone over the news topics, we've had our pune. We've talked Haim. But Billy didn't come here to talk. Billy came here to win. He's had a look in his eyes since we got to Marion County this morning. We're gonna take a break and when we come back, I guess we're all gonna try our hand. We're not We're not call hogs. That's what that's what the Tyson people do down there in Fadeville. 00:35:19 Speaker 5: Are you agreeing to this? Yeah? 00:35:20 Speaker 6: I don't know if I've I've signed the box to h to agree to this yet. 00:35:24 Speaker 2: Okay, we're rallying the pigs. 00:35:25 Speaker 4: Were rallying the pigs has nothing to do with what they do at Arkansas. Uh, Billy just has this look of determination. We're gonna have a little help come up here to teach us how to do it. But that'll be right after this break because we wrap up this fun show in Marion County. 00:35:37 Speaker 5: This is KSR. 00:35:38 Speaker 4: We'll be right back. Welcome back, KSR. Rick playing the hits over there. 00:35:42 Speaker 5: Thank you. 00:35:43 Speaker 4: Rick always got that nice music to get us fired up. Sometimes I feel like I'm on holder on an elevator, you know, just get get your juices flowing. 00:35:49 Speaker 2: Rick. When Rick's playing, He's the hits for sure. 00:35:52 Speaker 4: But thanks for producing. Rick's been fun. We've got one more segment here at ham Day's sponsored by eleven and Tourism and Johnny Rocker Law. We've even brought up part of the Johnny Rocker family to help us through this last set. 00:36:02 Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, this is John Elder the third, the third, Johnny Rockers, John Elder the fourth, And you just said his son is John Elder the fifth. 00:36:11 Speaker 5: That's correct. 00:36:11 Speaker 4: Jack. 00:36:12 Speaker 5: We call him Jack. That's right. 00:36:13 Speaker 10: Had too many Johns, so we went to Jack on the youngest one. 00:36:16 Speaker 5: Well, you come up here. 00:36:17 Speaker 4: You graciously volunteered to teach us how to make these noises. I hate saying called the hawks. We're rallying the pigs. But we were talking to you off the air and you mentioned how much of this has changed since. 00:36:26 Speaker 5: The first oh yeah. 00:36:27 Speaker 10: The history ham Days is amazing. 00:36:30 Speaker 5: You know. 00:36:30 Speaker 10: Ham Days started in nineteen sixty nine, okay, nineteen six I was the first ham Days. It was a few local business owners that got together and decided, hey, how can we track people to the community, how we can let them know this jewel we have right here in central Kentucky, the heart of Kentucky called Lebanon, Kentucky. So in nineteen sixty nine it started. They served a total whopping total of about six country hams that first six six country hams that first ham Days. And for example, this weekend, as I still drew this weekend, we'll actually have will probably between forty fifty thousand people come in h So that's how much it's grown. I mean, it's amazing and we're glad to have them down here. And it's amazing the community comes together supports everyone. The operation a large volunteer all basically volunteer basis. So it's great to have you guys down here in the KSR team. As part of the kickoff to the country twenty twenty five Country ham Days. 00:37:28 Speaker 4: Do you work for the Tourism Board? I caught that in the heart of Kentucky because you are You're like literally the heart when you look at the shape of Kentucky. 00:37:35 Speaker 5: Right, you're right, Yeah, I heard you work that in. 00:37:37 Speaker 10: No, Johnny Rocker, My fine son just made sure, said dad, make sure you pump up leban and Marion County and small you know, Johnny Rocker. 00:37:47 Speaker 2: Small town with big city results. 00:37:49 Speaker 5: Thank you for Creigne Drew, Thank you. 00:37:51 Speaker 4: We got to get to the big moment. Billy's been waiting for this for a year. Billy, he refuses to defend his hey Belly championship so we can have on that on Shannon forever. So the nice people here at ham Days came up with a new contest. We're gonna call it rallying the Pigs. But, h Shannon, have you decided? I think we're all gonna participate, you guys, Shannon's gonna sit this out on Cowboy upon Well, we certainly. I'm gonna do my best, but it's really I think we're gonna make it a Ryan versus Billy head to head. I'm gonna do it too, but this we're just gonna consider this the championship since there's only a few of us. But before we get started on ours, let me take that headset off a little bit.
