Yeah, it's the internet. You're busy. Let's do this. I am
Jeff Grub. I write for GamesBeat dot com. I do this show on
giant bomb dot com. Uh, You're gonna have to deal with the voice
today. I'm making everyone deal with the voice today. Uh. If I'm
If we're gonna be able to get through this together, which I feel like
we will, don't worry. I'm fine. But who can predict the future?
Right? If we're gonna get through this together, I'm gonna have to.
This is the level I'm gonna have to talk at all, right,
So we're just gonna it's all gonna be happening in that low local level fry
area. All of all of my sounds come from there right now. If
you want to blame somebody or two children who are very guilty of just bringing
home communicable diseases one after the other, just hit after hit after hit,
for no regard for human safety. They don't care. So if you want
to blame anybody, I can. I can get you in their names.
I can get you their names. I'm gonna answer your questions. It's what
I do on this show, or I gotta do my best answer your questions.
A lot of times those answers will be not answers at all. They'll
just be stuff where I say, I don't know and try to riff and
come up with the answers as best I can. But when I do know,
the answers will We'll definitely go into that stuff as best as I can.
And uh, I got a list of stuff I want to talk about.
Not a lot this week. It is a bit of a bit of
a slow week. I was. I was talking to a buddy before the
show. It's like, yeah, it's a bit of a slow week.
You could tell because people are going crazy about images. All right, we'll
get into everything, all right, let me let's just start here. I
talked about Need for Speed recently in the last couple of weeks. I got
a little bit of details, and those details are still right. I think
that it's going to be next gen only it's coming out later this year,
probably in November. That stuff could all. I mean, well, the
release date could change absolutely. But I I mentioned, and I said,
and I want to say, I'm very proud of everybody. I mentioned that
maybe it's taking place in Miami, but I don't know for sure. So
don't go and write headlines based on that information. And you know what happened.
No one went out and road headlines on that. Everyone was like everyone
mentioned it and their stories like he said that, but he wasn't sure,
so let's all not go crazy. It was great. I was like,
oh, okay, I think I'm starting to figure out how I need to
phrase things to make sure that people understand when it's worthy of, like a
headline or not. And I basically just say it's not a headline. Stop
it put the pen down. But it works. It works, so I'm
not gonna complain. It's not in Miami. Again, doesn't takes place in
Miami. I was able to get more more details. I'll say that it's
well. I mean, let's let's start with some of the other stuff.
Autolog is back for multiplayer. You could customize all your pieces of the of
the car that's back. Criterion wants to make it feel like a real city,
even though it's going to be a fictionalized version of a city. They're
going to kind of I guess I don't know what that mean. Like in
a video game, all cities are fictionalized versions of cities, So I suppose
maybe I don't know what that means, except for maybe it plays into the
aesthetics that they're going for, which is it's going to be photo realistic,
but it's going to have on top of that, there's going to be like
anime elements. You know, when you see like a maybe a car commercial
or something like that. I'm a master commercial, I don't know, and
the car is driving around, but then like cartoon like flames are flying off
and stuff and sparks are flying and they look like they're out of an anime.
That's the kind of the aesthetic that they seem to be going for.
And I wonder if that, like is also part of what they mean when
they say they're gonna be a fictionalized version of Chicago. It's called Lake Shore
City. If you're in the need for speed, I know there's a lot
of people who are so when I talk, because when I talked about it
the last week, like, I don't know, I'm talking to a broad
audience here. A lot of you are like, either you'll play a Need
for Speed or you won't. Maybe you don't care about these details to you're
playing it, But there's an audience out there that was like Jeff, I
need to know. I like, there's people reaching out to me. I
haven't gotten back to them. I'm sorry, I've been busy. If they're
like, I'm a need for speed content creator, what is going on here,
I'm like, oh, okay, yeah, you exist. That's cool,
that's cool, that's awesome. I mean, each down that stuff works.
But I haven't clearly there's people who care about this stuff. So I'm
glad to like give me a little bit more information. I would imagine you're
gonna hear about this game pretty soon. I think I also mentioned that Skate
is uh probably not coming out anytime soon. It does seem like they might
be testing the game soon, like that might be happening, Like, uh,
EA's got there. What are they called their insider they're creators, I
don't know they're they're community partners or something like that. I wonder if they're
bringing them in. I haven't heard the details of that stuff. All.
I noticed that it sounds like they are gonna be testing the game soon.
I still don't think that means we're gonna be hearing about the game all that
soon, uh like in the public. But if we do, it's probably
still not coming out very soon, so we'll see and let's just talk about
it. There are a lot of news stories going up saying that an image
on PlayStation's website has changed to drop out concrete Genie for a Death Stranding image,
and this is part of a PlayStation studio. It's like banner, and
all of the other games that are in this banner are games from studios that
PlayStation now owns. Like maybe when those games came out, PlayStation might not
have owned them, but now it owns all of them except for Death Stranding.
So logically, obviously there's only one answer to this, and that is
Sony has acquired Coajima Productions and is telling us. They're not telling us actually
with their words, they're not making an announcement, but they're trying to tell
us by updating an image a banner on a website. Okay, crazier things
have happened. I guess whatever, if that's what you want to believe.
I'm not actually here to like rain on your parade or whatever. I don't
that's not enough for me. I haven't heard that. It's not enough for
me. That just sounds like, oh, they're putting in another PlayStation studio's
game on there because Desk Stranding is a PlayStation studios game. It is,
it's made by it's a first party game. Like I know people will get
confused about this stuff. Oh, it's a third party studio. How can
it be a first party game. It's a PlayStation studio game like they made
it, they brought in. I mean, it's like when a movie studio
brings in an outside production company helped to make a movie. It's still their
movie, Like it's still the movie that they're making. It doesn't really work
that way. But people call this second party. They've called it second party
in the past. That's always been a misnomer. We that never really existed.
That was something created by the media in magazines to talk about companies like
Rare and even at that time, like Rare was was a first party studio
at Nintendo, that Ray was the first party studio, and they still called
it second party because there was like this weird different between Nintendo Japan and these
other studios. Second party never a real thing. So Death Stranding was always
a first party PlayStation studios game. You play, you open the game,
you're gonna see a PlayStation studios logo you go watch the Death Stranding director's cut
trailer right now on YouTube. It's gonna open the PlayStation studios like the the
you know, the Little Movie or whatever. It is, like the MCU
style thing that they did. So I mean, okay, but but still
yeah, all the other games on that banner are from studios owned by PlayStations,
so it has to mean that. I mean, it doesn't have to
mean that, but I get why people are going to go in there,
and I don't know, I don't know if that's the case. Again,
I haven't heard one way or the other, but I don't know. What
I do know is that as of a couple of weeks ago, the Xbox
and Kojima deal was still on. As of a couple of weeks ago.
This is not like me going off the stuff I've heard previously. This is
more recent than that. It's still on. Does that mean that PlayStation could
not have acquired Kajima Productions? Not necessarily. I mean, we've seen this
happen the other way a bunch of times, but I still think it's pretty
unlikely. And I guess for people who are like trying to piece the like
if you're like looking at these like puzzle pieces and trying to fit stuff together.
First of all, that's not always how it works. These aren't always
puzzle pieces that are meant to be put together. But I mean, if
you've heard the rumors about a big acquisition from Sony, this was it was
never Cochima Productions, at least not as far as I'm aware. Like the
people that we're hearing this stuff, including me, never that was not a
name that was thrown around. It was bigger than Cochima Productions. You know,
who knows that's going to happen. Again, it's very it's very difficult
to pin down what's happening with acquisitions unless Elon Musk is trying to pump up
the price of a thing he owns, so he's gonna dump very soon.
So that's the one difference Everywhere all other acquisitions, people keep pretty quiet because
they're trying not to get violate see rules. You know, Musk is the
richest person in the world, doesn't care about all that. He knows he's
never going to jail. So yeah, yeah, listen, if you have
questions specifically about this, I want to hear him. But I mean,
just to repeat it to reiterate, I haven't heard that Sony's buying Kojima.
I haven't heard that they're not doing that, So I just haven't heard.
I don't know. I don't know, but as a few weeks ago,
the Xbox Coajima deal still on. Doesn't seem like anything's been derilled there,
so something that's probably still gonna happen there. If Sony were to acquire them,
would the deal be honored? I don't know, probably because I think
Sony would want to keep things kosher with acquisitions with Microsoft, like they seem
to have this uneasy truce when it comes to that stuff, and I think
they both have an understanding of where regulation is headed, like the trend of
regulation from the government, and they don't want to sort of upset the one
the other so that things get to a point where they're like pointing fingers and
they're trying to lob and say this person is doing things that kind of not
by the unwritten rules, and so maybe you should go after them. They
sort of just kind of want to both do their acquisitions as normal without a
lot of interference. And so if if Sony were to get Cogima Productions and
that deal was already signed, then I think they would probably go through with
it. But again, I'm just guessing. I don't know. I think
the bigger point here is that everyone else is guessing too, And what are
they guessing? On? An updated picture for a PlayStation studio? So I'll
go for a game that we already know as a PlayStation studios game, So
I mean people playing Sherlock Holmes here. I think it's happening. It's a
little bit, it's a little bit much. It's good. It's kind of
grasping, but hey, again, crazier things have happened. Maybe this is
good. Maybe it's gonna be true, and we'll just be like, Wow,
someone leaked it by updating a banner. That's crazy and it would be
crazy. All right, let's see here. I am going to go to
questions now because that's that's what I had to talk about today. But I
bet you guess I'll have some pretty good questions. So let's get in there.
All right. Let's go here with Slain the Gossome. What new world
would you like to see in Kingdom Hearts? For? Also, is this
the game where we finally see Donald Duck kiss a human lady like sonic a
god, I hope so just because if the game, if the game breaks
enough of nature's laws, eventually the universe will retaliate. And that's all we
can really hope for is that the universe will do something to put an end
to this. And Donald Duck kissing a human lady seems like it's very much
of that ilk and we could, we could finally get you know, the
the game and gang out there to rebalance the universe and destroy Kingdom Hearts once
and for all. And the world I most want to see is is Hell?
Just Hell? Want to see him? How in hell they probably are?
They probably gone to Hades or whatever it is. What's the underworld.
Hades is a big part of the New Ones, So they are going to
Hell whatever? Uh? Oh gross, Someone's thought about Donald Duck's lips and
then then I immediately went to Donald Duck's cloachia. So we all have to
deal with these images in our own way. From Doug Foot, Good morning,
mister Snacks. The year is twenty twenty nine and Kingdom Hearts four has
finally been released. You decide to play it, and to your Shocknhore,
you absolutely love it. After this revelation. What other foundations of your identity
need to be re examined? Okay, if that happens, then I need
to re examine whether or not I like Little Caesar Pizza. Maybe I don't,
maybe I hate it. I need to Mini Vans do when I actually
like Mini Vans? Or is something wrong with me? That's impossible? Steely
Dan maybe a terrible band, and I will go bald. I think that
was the Four Horsemen's off the Jeff Apocalypse from Jordan Midler. Have we reached
the point with acquisitions that it will start to be a bit of a bad
pr move? I really like that jacket. Sorry for the impression. He
did an impression to me on his podcast, which was actually it was completely
accurate, the most accurate impression of me ever done. Yeah, I like
this jacket a lot too. It's still a little bit cold here in Colorado,
and I got the jacket recently, so I'm like taking every opportunity to
keep wearing it. But hey, I actually you could probably get this jacket
easier than most people because I had to get it from urban outfitters in the
UK, and I had it imported so import I just ordered it online they
send it here, but yeah, it sounds fancier when I say had it
imported. Yeah, I mean, the acquisitions are definitely a gonna be thing
where I mean when people talk about open world fatigue, at a certain point,
people are gonna get acquisition fatigue, right, I think that it's there,
But there is an audience out there that is like on Team Xbox and
on Team PlayStation, and they are going to be like, we want our
teams to win, and they're in their their list wars, and if that's
who they're trying to appeal to, then it probably doesn't matter so much if
other people who aren't that group get fatigued, and at a certain point the
acquisition fatigue only lasts. Like in that beard where the news is coming out
and the benefit of having a studio long term in a content more, which
is the real thing that they're actually in. That's like probably it probably outweighs
any sort of negative pr thing they might take. So yeah, I don't
think they're really gonna make decisions based on that, uh from Watchman Heart Trophy
winner Austin Matthews or Roman Yosh, God, I think what I think is
gonna happen is Austin Matthews gets it because Roman Yo c is gonna get the
Norris right uh and and so they'll probably be like, Okay, he got
his, let's get Boston. And Austin Matthews has had a very good season,
like he is scoring goals like crazy. He's scoring goals a lot when
it matters at the end of the season, So I think he'll get his.
I think I think he's gonna get it, mister mccrickel, dank Hey,
Jeff, I saw somewhere on the internet that frost Bunk two devs are
announcing more info about the game, you know anything about it? For some
reason, I think we might be embargoed on that. I feel like I
got an email and I didn't look at it, but someone else from our
work might be under embargo. So I probably would just hold off, and
if nothing happens by next week, I'll look around and to see what I
know and see if I could talk about it. From future Creep. Why
Sarah look like a real doll? Yeah, listen, I don't want to
harp on this too much because obviously he's going to look different in different worlds,
but in that world he fucking sucks. I hate looking at him.
It's awful. It is, yeah, real doll. Yeah, he looks
like he's been created for the pleasure of just the deepest perverts, and so
I am it's very upsetting and I hate looking at it. I do not
want anything to do with the way he looks in that game. Uh from
frog dot Ben, What do you think in the earliest is the earliest date
that Nintendo would release the Advanced Horse reboot game? For example, if the
war ended today, when would they consider releasing the game. I think they
probably get around to it in early fall. It's kind of they're probably already
picking a date later this year, whether the war ends or not. Probably
because I mean we're seeing other companies begin to release stuff. I mean,
youb Soft delayed there their Rainbow six, the Rainbow six mobile game because of
the war. They've now begun releasing it to early testing. They've talked about
it. There wasn't a huge backlash for the most part. I think people
are gonna look around, and I mean Nintendo could be different. How much
is Nintendo paying attention to what Ubisoft is doing? Probably not a ton,
but I still think they recognize that by later this year they will be able
to release this game. And I'll say, I can't remember if I brought
up this point before. I'm definitely in a mood where I want to I
probably have mentioned this when we talked about this topic before, but I am
in the mood to like engage with stuff that deals with this topic and Advance
Worst is definitely one that's like kind of hits some of the I don't want
to call them themes because it's real world stuff that real people are dealing with.
But like when the pandemic started and I was watching what was that Steven
Soderberg movie. I can't remember the name of it, but you know it's
about a pandemic. I watched that a couple of times, and so I'm
like, I kind of am aching to play a little bit of a dance
Worst, to do something with these emotions and these feelings and finding not an
outlet, but like a mental playground for them. I feel like I've said
this exact stuff before, So sorry for repeating myself. Slaying the cost and
what's the best sauce to dip your fries? And I'm a catchup, man,
I don't know if it's the best sauce. I just used with default
to that. I'm never disappointed by it. But I'm also a basic bitch,
so we gotta deal with that. I also, I mean, I'll
do with aoli and I'll do I'll dip it in the sauce from raising canes,
stuff like that. But I and I like a spicy, spicy ali
or something like that, I'll do that too. From caption Barbosa or yeah
caption Barbosa very good. Uh, lots of stuff today around a Sony banner,
updated, an acquisition of Coachman Productions, anything to that, we talked
about it. I don't know. That's what's gonna be my position. I
don't know. I think it's a I think it's a bit absurd, but
I cannot definitively say that they are not making an acquisition. So let's just
say what I know, and it's that I don't know. We'll see,
because I mean, it's not like this would be like, Okay, we're
gonna give you heads up, hey, Jeff, part of the Whisper network
here is here. We're gonna update the banner of our website. And don't
worry, it's not anything like that. How would that that would never happen,
right, Like, no one's gonna confirm the negative before they need to
confirm the negative. So we're kind of in a situation where people are like
making assumptions, and if I'm being fair, I don't know the answer.
But I think the reason that I don't know it's because it's nothing. If
I'm being honest, that's my gut here. But from Absby, I have
to know where were you enticed or repulsed by the cheese twists? A little
bit of both. It was a little bit of both. It was there's
definitely something enticing about them in a repulsive sort of way where it's like,
I gotta know what that's like, even though I don't like what is happening
in front of my eyes. So thank you for sitting the video over by
the way, Future Creep. Did you find out anything about the council versions
of Seven Days to Die? No? I think I completely forgot to ask
about that. Let me just add it to the thing Gross Snakes follow up,
but right here at the top seven Days to Die, I will I'll
do my best still find out from me. Con do you think EA will
revisit any old bullfrog franchises like Dungeon Keeper, Magic Carpet, Populace Slash,
sim City. Uh I bet another sim City does happen at some point they
maybe they do another one of these franchises first, but like I still think
like sim City is the one that does have the most chance of doing something.
The times have changed since when was that twenty thirteen Sim City twenty thirteen?
Times have changed since then. If they wanted to, like introduce a
lot of futures that used a lot of the always online stuff that they were
trying to do, then they could much more easily easily get away with that
now than then. But at the same time they were burned so hard on
sim City. There's a lot of a lot more competition in terms of City
Skyline sort of owning that space. And does it like meet their their need
for home runs? Right, they need big, big hit and when they
don't when they try to, when they make a game that is it doesn't
need to be a big hit, like is that the kind of game they
go to or do they try something else? Is that worth worth their time
and effort? I mean, and even the games that you don't expect necessarily
from EA, like EA like, oh, we're gonna do this this indie
stuff on the side, and it doesn't need to be a hig big hit.
Well, it Takes Two was a big hit, so like even that,
now they might be expecting bigger things from these games. So I don't
know. I think some city can do very well all those other games,
maybe like Populous maybe, but like Dune Keeper, they've done a mobile version,
maybe they get back around to doing another one of those. I don't
know if that makes a lot of sense though. From Moondelish the Next Slander
Crew, we're discussing whether skiing slash snowboarding is a bougie activity thoughts. I
think that if you are someone who lives in those towns and does those things.
No, I mean, if you live in a tennis ski town,
you probably have a certain level of affluence. But there are people who like
have to work in those towns or work in the town next door, or
live in the town next door and coming to work in those towns. And
if your family does that and you grew up doing that, then I would
not describe it as bougie. It's just part of your culture. But I
think traveling to go skiing and snowboarding probably is pretty bougie. Yes, I
think so. It's it's it requires a lot of equipment. The equipment is
very expensive. It requires going to places that are that are generally like resort
towns, and you could do this stuff on the cheap. And when I
first started doing it, it was part of a ski club in my high
school in Ohio, and we would drive out to the small little hills of
Ohio and and you know, but you know what was still even then it
felt like of the activities that you could do as part of my high school,
that was probably the bougiest one. So I think overall, I think,
yeah, I think that's fair. I like, yes, skiing on
the East Coast is icy trash. I like skiing on ice. The snowboarding
on ice. I love the way it feels. I think it's probably why
I like ten eighties so much, because ten eighty captures what it feels like
the snowboard over ice so well. It's like incredible, how well they got
it right out of the gate, right out of the gate, and so
like I like hitting icy patches and feeling the snowboard just trying anything to catch
and when it does that great feeling. It's so good from Axel one five
nine. Hey, mister snacks Man, Well Nintendo ever improved their controllers.
I haven't touched my switching over a year because the Pro controller enjoy cons feel
so bad? Feel better soon? Thank you so much. I don't know
they've made some improvements to the Pro Controller. I don't know why it feels
bad to you? Is it because some of the buttons were are weird?
Like the depad was really bad on early on the early pro controllers. I
hated that they've improved them. But yeah, I mean I just get the
Apit dough. Just go get the Apit dough the Pro two. It's great.
Problem solved from Slaymick. Awesome. How many Bothin's died this week to
bring you these leaks? I don't know. I only ever talked to Dash
Randar. He just he's like the middleman for us, so I keep my
hands clean all that. Dude, long couch, what's your plan to get
banned from Twitter after Lant takes control. I'll probably just like, like,
no matter what he tweets, just tweet at him about his his daddy's diamond
mind or something like that. Mine it's in mind and eventually I bet I
bet he just you know, destroys me from space. Uh. From sev
word, what's cooler or a sick front flip or a badass backflip? I
think, okay, I think that the back flip looks cooler. I think
the front flip is more impressive, like on a technical level, because like
bringing your body down fast enough to do the front flip is much more difficult,
at least I assume I've never done either, except for maybe on like
a trampoline or something. But the backlipt feels more natural. But it also
looks cooler because it looks more natural. So I think the answer to the
question is badass backlip. From Zekritz. I enjoyed the EGM review video you
put out. Will you be reviewing other magazines besides EGM? Yes? I
will. So I did a video where I went on archive dot org and
they have like all these magazines backed up and we just flipped through page by
page and we talked about what EGM was like thirty years ago. I think
I'll probably be doing videos jumping around like the time like from like fifteen to
thirty years ago. It's probably where we will where we'll be focused, but
in other videos. As we get like closer to modern times, like to
contimporary times, I will be bringing in I'll probably still do EGM, but
I'll bring in some other magazines, but I also bring in some websites.
And I really want to bring in podcast like what people were talking about on
podcast fifteen years ago, Like as podcasts we're beginning to take off in the
video game space, Like what were the conversations people who are having about you
know, the Xbox three sixty or whatever. Is that the right time for
that? Yeah, yeah, so I would like to really do that.
That'd be cool. From Mighty war Kno, what should I spend forty three
billion dollars on? You don't spend it. What you do is you borrow
it. You pretend you're going to spend it, and then the money you've
already invested in the company is worth more when you sell, and then you
just get out and you know, you pay off your interest with the money
you made and you're good to go, and just keep that process going on
forever. And the SEC comes say hey, what the fuck are you doing?
And you say, I'm the richest person in the world. I'm not
going to jail. That's how it works. Have you learned nothing, and
then that sec will be like, oh yeah, that's right, My bad,
my bad, my bad. From Black Card vine all. When a
certain affinity get acquired, that's a good question. I haven't thought about it
much. I've been asked about it, but here's here's the Okay. Obviously,
if they come out with a really great mode for Halo and it's like
a big part of turning that game around in terms of it's a popular popularity
period, you know, that makes them pretty valuable. But at the same
time, they are working on this Monster Hunter like game with Xbox, and
I think Xbox is at a point where they're like, they like to see
how these studios are hitting their milestones, and this is something new for certain
affinity working on their own big game. Microsoft might be taking a wait and
see approach. They can afford to take away and see approach and less certain
affinities like already like having suitors because there's already ten centch like knocking on their
door. And then I have point. I think Microsoft would have to make
an acquisition to keep certain affinity in their in their their their orbit. Sorry,
I'm getting a call about my house, but I cannot answer right now.
Let's see from Hibbity Bibber plans to expand into grub meats grub meals.
Excuse me, grub meals. I'm sorry, I'm just I got meats on
the brain. I need that protein. Yeah, I mean yes, Actually,
I'll talk about it more soon. Like the vague, vague plans we'll
see from Zekrits went in game achievement are you most proud of? I stopped
caring about achievements a long time ago. If like you want my like actual
like opinion answer of this question. The things in games that I'm most proud
of are usually not achievements. They are leaderboards and scores and stuff like that.
So I got into the top one thousand when when when of pac Man
Championship Edition the X two or one of them, like that was winning a
game was very hot, very popular. It was not in the review period
I got in the top one thousand. I think my score was like like
four fifty or something like four fifty out of everybody like worldwide over time is
you know, people beating it. I think it's still in the top one
thousand though, So I'm like very proud of that, because it's like spect
over time to like really move down the leaderboard still be in the top one
thousand. Mean, it's like, Okay, I did something pretty cool there,
and then my time's in Astrobot's play room whatever it is Astro's playroom.
Uh. You know my Mountain run time, you literally cannot beat it because
they updated the the the the glitch we were using. But even then,
even if you could still do that glitch, you would have a very hard
time beating that time because it's just it's you know, Dan Record spent weeks
trying to beat my time could not do and he got very close, and
he got like right there with me on all the other levels. Uh,
and you know, but we're both like still in the top fifty in the
world. I think because we were doing that one glitch on that one level.
Beyond that, maybe it was like getting all the getting the all the
achievements and like Geometry Wars or whatever, getting that pacifist and achievement stuff like
that. I don't know. From Folklorist, do you think odds are looking
good for EA to release a remaster collection of Dragon Age games Prior to the
release of Dragon Age four. We've actually talked about this before, it's been
a topic on this show. The answer is no. I'm pretty much a
definitive no. The reasons for this are and we've again I'm repeating this,
but some people are new here, everybody. The reasons for this are that
the games have a don't have a linear story and the way the Mass Effect
games do, so they don't feel a need to necessarily go and reprise everybody
on what happened and give people a chance to play through all those games,
because the A four will sort of have its own thing separate from all the
other DA games. But maybe the bigger issue is they don't all use the
same engine, right, one of them used his frost Bite, some the
other ones used like the previous engine or whatever, and so they'd be maybe
they'd do work on one game that stuff would not like carry over momentum wise
to the other games, and that worked really well for Mass Effect, like
the the improvements they would make to Mass Effect one would have some carry over
knock on effect that would improve mas Effect two and three. Those are the
reasons and so when I've asked about this, I'd get those as an answer
and the answers. No. I mean, maybe maybe they do drag Dragon
Age Origin sort of slight remaster on its own, but it's just don't expect
anything like the legendary edition. And the answer I've gotten on that repeatedly now
is that's not going to happen. How's Doctor Hockey doing right now? I
keep I meant to wake up early and edit a new one of these,
but we're just gonna stay. He's still tipsy, Forever tipsy. Jeff Bacillard,
Doctor Hockey from Doctor Venkolin, Dear Doctor Snacks. Do you think Hello
Games ever puts out paid content for No Man's Sky? It seems they have
won back the goodwill of their audience. Myself included that they could easily charge
for additional content at this point and not face blowback, So yeah, I
think they couldn't. I think their strategies worked very well. They sold millions
of copies out of the gate. They felt a sort of a moral obligation
to get the game to where people expected it to be. But as they've
done that, every time they released updates, the game continues to go back
up the charts and sells again to a new audience. And I think their
hope is the gaming audience would just get wider and wider and wider, and
over time they could just sell to these people over time, or like Microsoft
keeps coming back to then wants to put it in game pass again or something
like that, because it's been in game passed recently, right, So like
they're continuing to be ways to make money for that game, even if they're
not selling content to the same people who showed up years ago or something like
that. So, I don't know, this new Pirate update sounds really cool.
It's like I sit around, I'm like, man, I wish there
was a game like this like this, and it's like, oh, no,
met skis over here, like, hey, we've become that. I've
become that game. Hello, Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, I'm that game
now. I'm I'm like, man, I wish there was something out there,
just like not even paying attention to it, and then finally when it
gets my attention, I'm like, oh, this is probably exactly through the
game I need right now. From Tristan k w five, any rum wings
on when Nintendo might feel okay releasing the Advanced Worse remaster, no word,
no, no, rumblings. I don't know. I haven't heard all the
little phrases we put in our whenever I talk about a game. But my
guests would be it comes out like early fall or something like that. Maybe
it's like a December game. Maybe they actually like just to lay it a
whole year from when it originally was supposed to come out, and they just
thought it back into that December time frame. It's a shame because you know,
Way Forward worked on that game. Way Forward as an external company.
I'm sure that there is money tied to that game performing at a certain level,
and hopefully, hopefully Way Forward and Nintendo I have worked something out so
that way for it can be you know, you know, paid for their
work. Let me put something paid for the work in a way that is
a commissioner with the work they did. From all trick, I'm mister Grubb.
Do you think Microsoft will announce in the summer something to make game Pass
even better to answer Sony services? Maybe something big publishers, maybe something some
other big publishers. Day one releases the service is great, but in the
last month a lot of small games and a few Triple A games added to
it. Yeah, like you see. Yeah, there's not a lot happening
with game Pass like in recent months. Right, it does feel a bit
quiet. I think maybe there was a game added that I like was day
one that I don't know if I cared about all that much. You know
what, Tunic Tunic was pretty good, Right, Tunic was like a standout,
and that's like a good game, but it's also like, I know
what you mean. It's not Triple A. It's not the kind of thing
that is moving the needle from a wider audience. It's like something gamers really
care about. I don't know. I think last I've said on this show
before, they have a lot of money to spend on game Pass. Their
budget is huge, but they've been growing without spending a lot of that budget.
Maybe they're hesitant to do that. I know that third parties, publishers
are hesitant to make deals up until the last minute, you know, even
small companies. So that's what we saw with Tunic, Right, Tunic the
deal was announced to the last minute. That's because the deal was closed at
the last minute. So we're kind have been a holding pattern while you know,
we these developers wait to finish their game and now they're like, Okay,
well it's the last minute. We've seen all the metrics we've seen.
Do we want to go back and have that conversation with Microsoft that they've been
saying they're willing to have all this time, And in many cases, I
think the answer continues to be no, we are going to take our chances
selling our game, and then if we need to go to game Pass,
we'll go after that. So that might still be happening Microsoft might. I
don't try to sweeten the pot a little bit, because again, they have
a lot of money to spend, but I don't know if they feel they
need to. I think they're kind of waiting for the industry to come to
them, and I don't know how fast that's going to happen. From JP
Turpsman, any word on improvements coming to Sony's PlayStation streaming tech, I'm assuming
no, but I thought I would ask. I think as part of those
interview used that he did, Jim Ryan mentioned that there are plans to improve
the streaming tech. They didn't get in the specifics. They said they talked
about it more soon, but so far we haven't heard what that would be.
You would just I think I would guess it would mean, you know,
higher bit rate would probably be the biggest thing, because even at seven
twenty thirty, which is what a lot of PlayStation three games run at,
if that's primarily what we're thinking about streaming, the bit rates still enough to
like crush that signal in the way that doesn't look great. So maybe like
improvements to the the to the bit rate, improvements the latency, those are
the kinds of things that would be probably the top of the list. And
hopefully those are coming. And they said something is coming. Hopefully that's what
they mean. I mean at this point, you know, do they just
say go to Google and say, hey, you got your your white label.
Stadia stadiums got really great tech. Maybe we've just used that. I
don't know. Maybe that would probably be cheaper than rehauling the guy, the
old guy Kai technology that they're still relying on. Not to start like another
Dave Perry isn't very good at games, which I don't really believe, but
just every time I talked about one of his things, it's like I don't
really like it. From Ciccu, Good morning. Any further info on Breath
of the Wild. To aside from the early delay until twenty twenty three,
Thank you. No, I mean I wish I could tell you all about
the game. I think they've told us, you know, kind of enough
to keep the speculation going, right, Like it's gonna go beyond the sky.
There's gonna be you know, something more than than what they've shown in
the trailers. You know, is that a dark world? Is that like
an underworld or something like that. I don't know. Is it space?
Do they go to the moon? You know, who knows? But if
they go to the moon, do you think there's a face on it.
I bet there's a face on the moon. I don't know. But we're
just gonna keep speculating until we find out more. I don't think this is
something they talk about a D three even right. This is something where,
uh, later in the year they they give us another trailer and kind of
talk to us on its about the game on its own. So when again,
when I say you three, I mean the vague vacuum left behind by
three that everyone fills in with wherever from Beefmotron? Have you heard anything about
inflation influencing how game companies are pricing their games? And DLC? I mean
this was already happening at the beginning of this generation because we were in the
we were in the middle of the pandemic when the Xbox Series, x Ands
and the PlayStation five launched, And at that time, even before everyone was
talking about wider inflation on my shows, and when I was ever writing about
this stuff, I was saying, inflation will be happening and gaming for a
couple of reasons, everyone has a lot of money because they're not going out.
They're not going to concerts, they're not traveling, they're not eating out,
they're not going to bars. That's all part of the entertainment budget.
So people have a huge surplus in their entertainment budget and they're looking to spend
it somewhere. And that's when you know. You could go look at the
game sales. You can go look at hardware sales. They were selling like
crazy throughout the early pandemic and for months and months after. It never really
slowed down. Even as people have gone going back out to their lives and
stopped wearing masks and all this other stuff, we haven't really seen a huge
drop down in terms of like year over year spending. It's been pretty flat,
pretty even and occasionally like a two to four percent drop month to month
on the MPD. So the amount of spending on games has increased and stayed
at a certain level, and occasionally sometimes it goes back up as well.
It continues to grow anyhow. So right from the beginning of this generation,
we were we've had we had months and months of the pandemic. All these
companies were looking around and saying we could charge more. And that's when we
got the seventy dollars games. They knew it was then or never to pull
the trigger on seventy dollars games. They pulled the trigger on it. Many
companies did. It worked. We are now in the world where that's just
that seems normal. So yeah, I mean inflation has been influencing the price
of the of games from the beginning of the generation absolutely, and that that
traces all the way back to the beginning of the pandemic. I think that
also leads to like the price of DLC and micro transactions in big games.
Now, the prices of like skins and stuff were going up like twenty twenty
gave a lot of these companies the sort of confidence that it was those prices
like twenty dollars for John McClain, right, that was something they could continue
to do because enough people who are showing up and enough people were paying it.
And again, these are people who have pretty big entertainment budgets nowhere to
spend them, and now they're used to it. This is just normal.
So yeah, inflation absolutely had an effect, and it was like, honestly,
it was a leading excuse me, it was a leading indicator of inflation.
Like people from other sectors of the economy could have been looking at gaming
what was going to be happening very soon, and I mean you could trace
it. Like We've been talking about this from the beginning of this show,
when I was doing game mess show on Twitch talking about it there talking about
game speat Decides. We've been talking about this for literally years now, and
now it's sort of, you know, it is our lives across the entire
economy at this point, you know, slam a gossam. I wish I
would have saw this earlier because now the voice is like just beginning to be
weak, but okay, I'll go for it. This is CNN did not
even pick up because I feel like I'm like talking on a frequency that doesn't
actually that no other human can hear. This is CNN. I don't know.
Okay, bwo can you say in a world in a world, in
a world, it's a me asks tell me how hype you are for Soah's
feats. Well, it's a me. I am very hyped for Soah's feats.
I want to see those feet seats. He's got a key blade and
he has feats. Oh, the the FCC is here to pull us off
the air. Everybody, Sorry, gotta go. It's just Kevin b what's
Keily alluding to? He is talking about Elon Musk buying Twitter. That's what
he's alluding to. He's not talking about Kojima. Sorry, I'm gonna go
up here. I needed an adult okay, feature Hello, feature creep,
You're my daddy? Okay, all right, I think we have to put
an end to all of this. Uh from sick Jake? What what is
Subset Games up to? I'm actually it is more comfortable in talking that voice.
I feel weird doing it, but I might have to just do it.
What is Subset Games up to? Now into the breach and FTL,
We're fantastic. Also can confirm kids are a vector for disease. I have
three little peatree dishes myself. Yeah, it's not stop. I mean we
we They've just given us one or the other after the other for the last
three weeks. I really I think we're on our third thing right now.
So it's just it's wild. I don't know. I would love to know.
I love Into the Breach, I love FTL. I'm afraid to play
Into the Breach because when I play it, it's all I want to do.
It's all I can think about everything else. It's like to the detriment
of all other games, my loved ones, my responsibilities in life. So
I hope they give me another addiction soon from Upper Night, Hello, mister
Gubb, do you think PlayStation adds their multiplayer focused live service games to the
premium subscription tier day one? I can see something like the last of a
multiplayer being it being released there and law sales are made back from cosmetics.
I do think that is a very strong possibility. I think that's one of
the reasons why when when Jim Ryan was asked about this, he was talking
about like, you know, never say never and all this stuff, and
that the things could always change. He's trying to leave the door pretty wide
open before Okay, yeah, we have our seventy dollars the last of this
part two, those you know, the games like that are gonna keep coming
out and they're not going to be on this service. And then on the
other end, we're gonna have our free to play live service games, and
we believe that those are have a huge potential. Nique said that, he
said that explicitly, he talked about this, that that is what they're going
for. But there is between those two things. There is a world of
games that they could, you know, pick and choose which ones get put
into the service. And some of those almost certainly are going to be premium
priced live service games, like the last of this multiplayer, you know,
if that's not free to play, which I guess is also a possibility.
But if it comes out with the price dag, you just put it in
PS plus day one, you hope you get a bump, like like you
gave Rocket League and like you gave Fall Guys, like PlayStations should get a
lot of credit for building those games up. It'll it'll definitely use that to
its advantage with its own games. Now. I also think there's possibility that
games that are maybe single player focused, that are smaller than their their biggest
budget budget games, maybe sometimes from third parties, but maybe sometimes from first
party those could also make sense. In there there is just this huge chasm
that they could fill up with games that aren't their biggest budget games and aren't
free to play. So yeah, in generally I agree with what you're saying.
From Hammond of Texas, Hello, mister Snacks. This may not be
your beat, but do you usually pay attention to computext which is May twenty
four to twenty seventh. There may be additional information or announcements from there from
Intel, AMD, Nvidia, and other PC hardware and per film manufacturers.
Thanks, I pay attention to the coverage. I will occasionally talk to some
companies with companies that attend compute texts and do interviews and stuff like that,
So yeah, I'll be paying attention. It's been hard to keep up with
computer hardware as especially as I've like started this moving process and stuff like that.
But like as I've done this show and done a lot of other stuff,
it's been hard to keep up. So as I move and get settled
in, I will be paying a lot more attention to that stuff again,
I just I like it that. That's a big part of it. Uh,
from snake monshow snacks ease, Konami worth buying going once? Yeah,
worth buying. It's it's it's complicated because Konami's got so many facets. There's
so many businesses that they're in. Do you spin off Konami Entertainment one of
them is just like named in a way that it's like, oh, we
do games, but it's not. It's not explicit. It's not like Konami
Games. It's like Konami Entertainment Limited or something like that. Does that make
sense to just buy that and just do the games? Yeah? I think
that probably does. But well, Konami want to spend that stuff off.
It has a lot of very successful free to play service games right now.
Yugo is very very successful. Do they I mean they probably want that and
it's growing and they want that growth. So I don't know, it's it's
probably. I mean someone have to come and pay pay a lot of money,
and then you have to pay a lot of money for the ips because
those ips are like, yeah, the future Crepture said, those the IP
is worth a lot, so it's probably worth it because if you can,
like, I think it's worth it. BERSONI right, because you can make
all those games, but you can also make movies based on Metal Gear Solid
and or TV show. I would that would be good as well. But
like that, that is like if it's into your content pipeline really well,
So I think it probably would be worth it, even if it would be
a pretty high price. From Abraham LinkedIn have you and your kids seen the
Sonic movie? What were yours? Slash Their thoughts. I haven't seen the
second one. I've put on the first one for them a few times.
They don't. They don't love it, doesn't mean they don't like it.
They're like, oh, yeah, he's blue and cute. That's cool.
But it's not like some other movies where it's like, oh, I want
to watch that over and over and over again. So I'm kind of gonna
keep it that way because I don't need Sonic that much in my life.
I'm okay, I do want to watch the second movie myself, but but
I'll wait for it to come home. If I don't know, it's not
streaming anywhere yet, so I'll wait. I've been sick so I'm not gonna
go to a movie theater and get other people sick from Jay scovic any nether
realm updates. Feels like those rumors were hot and heavy for a few weeks
and then died off completely. Yeah, it does seem that way. I
don't know. I think that they are going to announce something before the end
of this year. I think it's still more to Combat twelve, But I
don't know. We'll see nothing new really, except that, you know,
they tease a lot. They're They're very into teasing their fans, and I
think that they're going to probably keep that up. From Knile Degradable, Kyl
Gradable, I knew how to say your name. It was Mike Wanati that
got it wrong, all right, And I wasn't reading it when I was
looking at but he was trying to do it. I'm like, what is
he trying to say? And then like, oh, yeah, it's Kyle
Degradable. You're like biodegradable. If you let Musk buy Twitter, will we
finally be able to play cuphead on Twitter a weird guy. Yeah, Yeah,
that's that's how it will work. But what games he He've put a
bunch of games on on the tesla. Is he's still doing that? I
remember, like he put on he tried to put on Cyberpunk or whatever,
but it worked while you were driving, and I think he got in trouble
or something. But of course he's not real trouble because he doesn't ever get
in real trouble. Let's see from Kane High Winds zero nine, you're forced
to play the quiet Man Left Alive bon Balond wonder World or Balance or Babylon's
Fault. Which do you choose? Hmm? Probably probably Balond wonder World because
can I stream it? About I'm streaming it. I think Balon wonder World
is the right level of like there's enough new things happening that it's not the
same misery the entire time, and that makes it more entertaining to people watching.
It's like it's it's miserable in a different way each level, and that's
that's good. That's good for content. So probably Baland wonder World, although
which one's the shortest, I don't know. I don't know if that matters
as much. Game over, Joel, what's going on with the Sasat's creed?
I mean, we're supposed to get my mom's Dead Burger Parkour. Uh,
we're supposed to get that that spinoff of of what was it Valheim.
They're going to do a They're gonna take some content from that and spin it
off and make it to a new game this fall, I think, so
we should hear about it soon. I don't know exactly, but I mean
that's been the reports, so we'll see one of them. Buffett, any
word on PopCap, I'll ask about this. I wonder about this all the
time myself. I think the last time I asked it was like, not
much. Not much is happening with PopCap in our ip the Blue Bomb.
What's the funniest game you've ever played? That's a good question. I really
like Mario Luigi Superstar Sokka. I's got some really great writing. I don't
know, I like, I don't always like laugh out loud at many games.
But I was never like a LucasArts guy either, So, uh,
you know those LucasArts adventure games. So I think I missed out on when
games were actually funny. I'm trying to give a modern example. Uh yeah,
I don't know. Yeah, por port the portal games are pretty good
in terms of humor, but it's like usually like it's like a humorous vibe.
Jazz punk is a good answer too. I love jazz punk. Jazz
punk is very funny. That's probably a pretty good one. I feel like
there's others in that vein. I have to think about it though. From
Ze Kritz, can we get a gravelly voice to beef? Alright? Alright,
right, b B's the best I can do. It's hard to do
those one syllable words because I feel like I gotta like ramp up my voice,
give me the bee there you gonna beef? It might actually should be
a hard word to say. And now, belly hang on beef gotta like
really get that f out there? Uh? That Penguino? What live Action
Disney franchise? Would you would make you belly laugh? If it was in
Kingdom? Hearts for Yeah, I don't know. There's I mean, it
doesn't seem like they're gonna do Star Wars. They're probably gonna do MCU.
So then what absurd thing could they do? I don't know, Flubber,
I don't know any of those Eddie Murphy comedies or something like that. I
don't know. I think they might actually do something like a flubber that probably
would happen. Sports Center is very good. National treasure perfect, that's perfect.
Yes, that's the one National treasure would make me lose my mind.
So Hung of the South God Family matters also very good. Yeah, just
sports centers, which is being cried. They should just go to Sports Center
for five minutes just I don't know, just a cut scene. It's like
Roger who framed Roger Rabbit? And that's it, all right from Fuzzy assass
In. Any updates on Microsoft's Arcane's Red Fall, No, that's weird,
right, I womagine I'd imagine the next update we get on that is,
here's a little bit more information. And oh, by the way, it's
coming out at this later date, so we'll see vector. The Angel says,
what's going on with Pearl Abysses upcoming Non Black Desert On Non Black Desert
catalog, they have at least three games announced, Crimson Desert, Dokva,
and Plan eight, but no timelines or info given they are a Korean company.
I get understand if you have no info, I understand if you have
no Yeah, I don't. I don't know, but I want to see
that DOKEV game. It's that weird Pokemon game that has like fifteen different like
play gameplay mechanics or whatever. Yeah, I don't know. I want to
see more of it, but no, but they haven't said much. It
seems like they might have paid some money to get into that Achilley event,
which would be a weird thing if you weren't coming out soon. So I
guess we'll see no splatun three news mumetic, but I think we'll probably hear
about that at end June. I mean we should because it's a splatun three
is also one that was like kind of felt like we're supposed to come on
summer, right, so we should hear about it soon. DX annex Batman
Calzoni or Kingdom Hearts for probably Kingdom Hearts for Honestly, the Batman Calzoni is
still too. It's just too graphic, too graphic for anyone who wasn't here
last week. The Batman Calzoni is a pizza from Little Caesar's where they fold
in the sides to make it look like as bad ears, but it just
ends up looking like a Maxi Pad. Now you have to deal with that
too. I'm glad we could continue to spread that each week U from slamy
gossam, how can we how can we achieve world peace? Only through the
elimination of violence can we achieve world peace? Miami Miami Connection is a true
classic, and what it is is it's it's a powerful political statement more than
anything, more than anything else. From Game Over Joel, is it making
another doom? Are they working on something else? I think they I want
to say they're working on something else, but like, what else would they
work on when they try to do a quake? But quake? Was I
sound like Machine Games was maybe also working on a quake. I don't know.
I'll probably actually say they probably are making another doom and I'd have no
problems with that. From mister Blag Canes or Zaxby's, I've only heard the
Zaxby's commercials. I've never had it. I really like Canes, though,
I watchman, How horrified are you by that Spokane pizza? Pretty horrified?
But I could tell he was joking, and I was like trying to joke
along with it. I was what I wanted to do for my tweet.
Let's bokay pizza for people down so on TikTok me to pizza with like a
bunch of salmon out of a can and then a bunch of cheese and then
like strawberries and all kinds of I mean, it was it was a bad
pizza, but he was doing it to get people mad, and one I
wanted to do was do the the Will Smith thing where it's like Will Smith
happy about the joke, and then when he says Detroit style pizza, which
is the thing I care about, that's when I get mad. I'm like,
get your get my wife's name out of your fucking mouth. But I
was trying to eat Chipotle, so I just kind of fired it off pretty
fast. From dirty data. I pre ordered the play dot dates. I'll
just say I pre ordered the play date. I'm super excited about it.
Seeing some preview slash review and it's sent out made me wonder, are these
takes meant to build hype only I've already ordered the unit and units are back
ordered for a year plus thanks for thanks for grubs next. I mean,
they'll probably have like another wave of orders when the game when it when it
ships, right, probably do something like that. They haven't said anything like
that. I mean, yeah, I get what you're saying, if all
of the ones that you've made are sold, like let's say they never make
another one, they've already sold every single one they're ever gonna make in that
world. What sense does it make to have this PR cycle. Well,
first of all, they've already paid the PR firm. Like PR firms already
been paid, they're going to do their work. But even beyond that,
like if you made something and you're putting it out in the world, you
want people to know about it, and even if they can't get it,
you want to be proud of the thing you made, and you want people
to be excited to get a chance to play it, and the people that
have ordered it, you want them to give it a real shot and understand
the things that are good about it. So at a certain point, it's
just about like talking about the thing that you made it in a prideful way,
and it makes sense if you excuse me, I gotta go crank it.
I'm gonna crank it all right. From Super Brillo sixty four. Hi,
Jeff, do you think we will ever see a rerelease of the Rogue
Squadron games? I would love that. Fucking John Drake, what are you
doing? Over there. He doesn't do Star Wars, does he. I'm
guessing without Factory Five that might be a challenge, but seems like the old
the other Star Wars rereleases have done well and would be worth the investment.
Yeah, I wonder if I wonder Factory Five's like involvement does like in terms
of maybe ownership of some of the copyright may I mean, I don't know,
like copyright of the code, I don't know. Probably probably not the
case. But we haven't seen any of those Factory five games moved forward,
and I guess you could get it might be the PC version Rogue Squadron three
D. It's a PC version because you can get that on Steam. Yeah,
I would love to see those remastered and rereleased. From one up muffing
any word on Gotham Knights, No, I think I think they're gonna do
something more with that game here pretty soon. But but yeah, no,
I don't know. I still don't know how I feel about any of these
new w B games from from from any of those studios. Gotham Knights,
like you're playing as the you know, the Bat family or whatever, but
it also seems like it's not explicitly a multiplayer only game. It's like,
oh, you might play, you'll probably play one player, you can play
two players. There's four characters to choose from. It's weird to me.
I kind of need to get my hands on it to know if I care
about it. It's kind of where I'm at with Gotham Knights from the Marble
Aide on the Overlord podcasts somehow Jordan Miller Midler has an AI of you.
What's your thought thoughts on this? I'm disgusted. I'm disgusted they would use
a deep fake of my voice, uh to make the same things like,
oh I've heard lastly if that's what I always say, how dare him?
And he'll be hearing from my lawyer from JP Turps fan, Which old game
would you personally want to see? Get the Final Fantasy seven remake? Treatment?
Uh? Man, that's a good question. Super Mario RPG. That'd
be messed up. It would be kind of probably like really offensive. It
probably would screw it up in some really key ways. But I also kind
of just want to see like a realistic what's the guy's name that tries to
marry a peach with the with the beard? I think I've forgotten his name
on the show before. I just yeah, I want to see in the
realistic cake in the French chef and the cake come to life booster, thank
you chat booster. Yeah, I would like that. That'd be great.
Also, that Final Fantasy nine remake is real. I should correct it.
I always get yelled at by Mike because Final Fantasy nine is one of his
favorite games, and this comes up, and he's told me this before,
and I always forget when the Final Fantasy nine remake question comes up because it's
on the Nvidio League, I say, uh again, They'll probably just do
it like they did that Final Fantasy seven remaster. Well, they've already done
one of those for Final Fantasy nine. When I say that, what I
really am trying to say is I don't think they're going to do a Final
Fantasy seven remake level treatment to Final Fantasy nine when remake. I suppose they
might do something like they did like those Manna games. Was that them?
Yeah, they did. They kind of updated those games a little bit.
They might do something along those lines. I guess at this point, I'm
kind of assuming they're gonna do something like that Final Fantasy nine shut up,
Mike, All right from me, con, I want to ask whether you
think tumb Raider Slash and Charted Slash just cause have much time left in the
series. Yes, they do, all of them. Do the Square and
Exceple out of juice left in like their desire to do those games. Probably
not that, I mean they'll they'll go well, I mean, what happens
to a franchise that has been around as long as any of those at this
point? I mean, I guess we're uncharted, not is not in there,
but the other ones are are square inex right, just cause the Square
enix I can't remember, can't keep them straight. But like tomb Raters,
just a tomb Rater like that will probably keep going. And it's been around
for so long, it's just passed around hands. If Square Annex is done,
they'll just pass it on to someone else. They will Uncharted, We'll
just get a reb like it, We'll get a reboot. It'll keep going,
it'll get another four games. Absolutely, I think that it's it's definitely
like reached the peak of its first sort of arc here. But they will
just kind of figure out what they did with God of War. They'll apply
that to uncharted. H they'll do something new. It'll be just fine,
just cause well maybe like the least juice having of all of these, but
still I think that it's it'll still come back. They'll do another just cause,
absolutely, just cause it's square. Thank you, thank you very much,
appreciate that. Let's see the blue bomb. The corporations have said fuck
it and decided to buy the US government and split up the states. Who
takes Colorado? So I'm trying to think of like the most weed company.
It would probably okay, so the visor visor would take because they would probably
be like, all right, we're taking over the production of legal marijuana.
Hello, we've made it. We've made it a pharmaceutical product. Congratulations,
everybody, We've done it. That's who takes over Colorado. If you talk
about a game corporation, I don't Colorado. Does it? Colorado feels like
does it? I don't know. To me, it just feels like Xbox.
I don't know. I don't know why. I just I would NITTENO
would not give a fuck about Colorado. What would they care about? I
don't know? What are the wacky states? Oregon? And I'm trying,
like Sony set some of their games, like Horizon took place at Colorado,
so maybe, but I don't know. I just feel like, yeah,
green, it's something? Is it because it's green? Like? Yeah,
yeah, I don't know. The Staate Flights got blue in it and red
I don't know, uh, from the Marmalade. Who else was looking into
buying the Magic Castle? Now that's right, our old friend Randy Pitchford,
Our our old friend Randy the Randy Man Pitchford bought the Magic Castle in Hollywood.
Do you think other magicians find him annoying or is it just is it
just that he's a magician and we can all tell. I don't know.
I have no idea. I have no idea, but I hope someone really
drove up the price on him from mister Blard. Might be a little out
there, but do you have thoughts about the nvidious slash arm deal? And
have you heard about anyone taking or anyone talk about risk five? We talked
about this before. What's the latest with that? I mean, I thought
it fully fell through, right, but I haven't been paying attention, so
let's click news. Yeah, I mean the last it was a couple of
weeks ago. My understanding was that in video when it got a little bit
of pushback from regulation, was like, you know what, never mind,
and they're gonna go with Risk five instead because it's open source and uh,
and it's growing fast and it's gonna it seems like it's the future. So
you know, in the end they might get a lot of what they wanted
out of this deal for a lot less money. And in the end it's
it's open source, we might all benefit. That'd be good from Burt and
kind incognito. Why don't we hear much about grind at non Western studios?
Are we to assume that something as big as Eldering Was had DEBVD without the
kind of grind I mean, no grind that we rightfully scoring from Rockstar cdprs
of the world. Thanks, Sorry, this is a bummer que. Nope,
you know on that topic, this show is going to be about dealing
with bummer ques. All right, Well we're gonna we're gonna deal with that
as best we can on this show all the time. Uh, those topics
always need to come here. We the reason we don't hear about it.
It's a big part of its cultural there's just a culture of going into work
and staying there and working working over time, especially in places like Japan and
and the culture has only started the shift slightly in the in some in certain
ways. For the most part, that's still the work culture there, and
so we don't hear about it because it's if you, like in Japan,
if they were a reporter, will go look into this at most people would
be like, yes, and what's your point. I'm not, you know,
I don't. I'm not gonna make too much of a judgment call because
I'm like, I think I said this before. I'm someone who can work
like that too, so I get it and uh, and but you know,
at the same time, I do think we should be calling it out
where we can. I think we've heard some more stories about this recently,
but for the most part, this is still a a well, well,
I mean, a big part of it is is also like you know,
if you work at a company in Japan, like you've been expect there to
work your entire life or less you could. That's also sorted to change recently,
and that's not necessarily how it's always been here. That changed like a
while ago. Where really to get ahead in a Western corporate culture, you
need to be changing jobs pretty frequently because that's how you really get pay increases
and all this other stuff. And that's a little bit different in Japan,
So you kind of end up in a situation where people just accept a lot
they're given, say this is what we're gonna do, and and I don't
know if that's gonna change. I do not have my finger on the pulse.
Like that might be a better question for eight four, and we could
ask you for a play waghing on that. All right, you know what,
we got just a handful of other questions. Let me see if I
could just pop a few real quick, and then we're gonna get out of
here. From mach Alexander, Uh, what do you think? Do you
think the Xbox Pesta will make separate shows the summer. I don't know.
I don't think so. I think the same reason they didn't last year applies.
BUTTHESTA doesn't want to talk about the games that aren't ready, and if
they did their own show, they might have to do that. From Mondale
Microffend wants to know if you like pineapple cake. She made one today.
It was yum. Yes, I probably would would crush that. You tell
your girlfriend my address and she could send it this way, robo gem,
mister g Why is pat Match Championship d X the best game ever made?
Fucking fucking rules. It's a good game, you know, It's just it's
got the great aesthetic. It is a simple and yet like like the skill
ceiling is super high. It is five minutes, so it's a really low
commitment, which is fantastic. That's you could play one after the other after
the other. Like you know, even if you have a really good run,
it's not gonna be like one of those where it's like, oh man,
I got the five minutes and that's where like things really start going and
I gotta go for another I gotta survive for another five minutes. Like,
no, do the most you can in five minutes. That is key.
And then that score that leaderboard chasing was just was awesome. The SAgs center
about the Coalition announcement this year. Maybe they have the smaller game that they've
been working on. They might be ready to announce it this year. I
don't know. It probably just depends on whether they can get an asset ready
for the E three time frame. Uh what Game Conventions Locus scard E three
CS tgs' have you gone to how many times? Okay, I've been to
E three I can't count, since twenty thirteen, maybe twenty twelve. I
think my first one was twenty thirteen. Actually, so six times. I
think six or seven uh CS zero TGS zero, LIP six zero, Packs
four or five. I've been to Pack's Prime twice and I think Pack East
twice. Maybe I'm in the packs Part Prime three times. When I moved
to Cleveland, though, uh I. My plan is to start going to
Packs East every year and to take the train, take the amtrack because I
used to drive up from Columbus to Cleveland to take the amtrack to go to
Packs and it was the best, so much fun. There's so many cool
people on the train. I think I'm gonna probably start doing that every year.
See Place Come zero ex zero, Comic Con zero, California Extreme once
and I've never I've never been to games Com. I would love to go
to games Com. Of these, the one I would want to go to
the most is games Com. Uh California Extreme once. I've been to.
There's like business focused events. As someone who writes her games beat, I've
been to a couple. I can't always remember the name. Uh. Someone
don't exist anymore. But I've been to one in Iceland that was great.
I actually I am seed that and I think I offended the host because I'm
from Ohio and they were all from Europe, and I was like, I'm
like aware of how things are done, but when people like introduced themselves,
they would do the cheek kiss thing. And my stepubstance at that point was
don't get in people's personal space. That's bad. You're you're a big,
scary looking man. Don't do that, Jeff. And so when I don't
like initiate that or I might flinch for like a second when someone comes in
the kiss my cheek because I'm on the defensive. I think I offended the
host and they did not invite me back the next year. That's my theory
about why I probably did a bad job in seeing two. But I think
that's not what it was. I think it was the kiss. And then
I went to Amsterdam. The year before my daughter was born, I traveled
so much. I went to the Iceland thing. I went to one in
Amsterdam. I wish I could remember the name of any of these, uh,
And then I went to U two in Singapore back to back years and
that was a lot of fun. We stayed like right outside of Singapore Universal
Studios, and I wrote the Transformers of dark Ride. I think that's the
one dark ride I've ever been on Mike. It's a Transformers one in Singapore.
It was very good. So if you know, if you know what
a dark ride is, I've listened to Mike explain it like five times.
I still don't fully understand what it is. From the Blue Bomb, could
you say, please don't sue me, honest trailers guy. Okay, please
don't sue me, honest trailers guy. I'm completely losing all power in my
voice, so that you know what that means. Time to wrap it up.
Uh, sorry, everybody, it is different. Okay, here last
one Luter James fuck Marry killed waffle House Cracker Barrel. Iha, thank you
for not making it people. M Okay, I am probably going to kill
Cracker. I mean Cracker Brow has got like all those fun stuff though,
it's got like a little gift shop and stuff that's fun. And as someone
who's like easily distracted and like likes distractions, kind of like that, Okay,
I'm going to marry I like I hop too. This is tough.
This is tough, all right. I'm going to I'm gonna kill waffle House.
I like waffle House. I'm gonna kill waffle House. I'm going to
marry I hop and I'm going to fuck Cracker Barrel. I guess what I'm
gonna do. And you could put that on my on my tombstone made up
on post online sat Old Ring is only nine out of tenants of a ten
out of ten? Am I already dead? You know? My thing with
that game, I'd like not tweeted this because I don't want to deal with
what you probably you'll probably deal with. It is a bad game in a
lot of ways, but I just kinda want say it's a bad game and
yet somehow it's better than every other game. Like it's a bad game.
There's so many things that are just like broken and weird and awkward and not
in like oh they're like they're just oh they intend this. It's like no,
this is how they do things. And someone it's bad, but it's
better than all your good games, all the games people say are like actually
good, This game's so much better than all those. I'd much rather play
Eldon Ring, And a lot of it does come down to just trusting the
player, giving us a fucking awesome world to explore, just incredible enemy design
and like endless variety in the enemy design. But yeah, it's a bad,
bad game, and I'd rather play it than Horizon or God of War
twenty eighteen or anything for the most part. All right, everybody, Uh,
let's wrap this up. Let's uh, let's go ahead and uh talk
about what we're gonna do next week. We're gonna do the show again.
That's right, deal with it. Either hopefully my voice will be back,
or it'll go even deeper, who knows. But until next time, here
we go. Okay, until next time, take care of yourself, have
a good one, and goodbye. In a world
