Let's see.

00:02:24
Speaker 5: Well, we've got our Power and Dowur rankings up there that you can vote on. We also had Trevor Lawrence's career as going to be great or disappointing, okay, having a great season so far, good one right now, seventy percent of the audience have it as disappointing.

00:02:38
Speaker 2: Okay, Well, he's got a lot of work to do to make up for some lost time here. But last night impressive. The stumble Rooskie stumbled twice got into the end zone. By the way, would you check this stat I don't think Patrick Mahomes has ever won a game when he's thrown a pick six, and he threw one last night, a ninety nine hard return. Here is Mahomes talking about that throw.

00:03:05
Speaker 6: Honestly, they's got me with the covers that they played. They they had played zero kind of inside that ten yard area in previous games, and they hadn't shown the paupers with the linebackers popping out when they were protected. And I saw the look and I got that checked to the play with the en routes having three ends, knowing that they're gonna try to pass off the guys and Juju was gonna pop wide open, and he did. But the credit to I mean, they schemed themselves and they kind of looked over what they could do better, and they popped underneath where I was throwing the ball. And so it was a great call to them defensively, and obviously a great play by Zero getting the pick. And then I got to find a way to tackle or slow them down after he gets to the interception.

00:03:42
Speaker 2: Well, no, you don't. It's best that you don't. You're you're maybe the most valuable player in the NFL. Go do a fetal position. He did sore of go after him just a little bit, maybe just to kind of hold him up a little bit, but didn't really impede his progress.

00:03:59
Speaker 7: Yes, yeah, quarterbacks, stop with the football stuff. Just throw the football, all right. Those shoulder pads only for show?

00:04:06
Speaker 2: Yeah? Uh, did you did you find a stat.

00:04:09
Speaker 8: PAULI I found that he I see that he's had five in his career. We're checking the win lost record in that.

00:04:16
Speaker 2: Okay, yes, Todd, I don't care if.

00:04:19
Speaker 9: You're the worst starting quarterback in legal of the best starting quarterback. I think you need to make a full effort to make a tackle in a situation like that. No, I don't care if you're the face of the league or whatever. Are they that fragile? You're still a football player.

00:04:29
Speaker 2: That present bone Nicks goes out there, and.

00:04:31
Speaker 4: I would want him to make an effort to make the tackle.

00:04:33
Speaker 2: I really, what if? What if he gets hurt?

00:04:36
Speaker 9: I would hope he wouldn't get hurt, But in that moment, how could you let him run by or not make a full effort to make the tackle.

00:04:41
Speaker 2: These things happen.

00:04:42
Speaker 4: Though you threw the interception, you go tackle it. Well, I help the process of tackling. I don't know. Well, that fragile there's an.

00:04:49
Speaker 9: Eighty percent they're gonna get injured. It's gonna be out for the year because they try to tackle a.

00:04:53
Speaker 4: Fellow football player.

00:04:54
Speaker 2: Really, okay, can you can knock.

00:04:56
Speaker 4: Him over much?

00:04:57
Speaker 9: You know, I'm not saying get run over by him, but try to push him out, bounce, trip them, and take a fifteen year upound about something.

00:05:03
Speaker 8: Yes, I like being a tough guy, like trying to, you know, help your team, but you shouldn't risk yourself at the quarterback position. You don't make tackles for a living. You don't know how to make tackles. The last time you tackled someone was probably eighth grade. So you're gonna go in, You're gonna crack your collar bone to save a touchdown in early October. No, it's a risk. And remember Peyton Manning would just kind of run in the area and try to slow their path down lightly.

00:05:29
Speaker 2: That's smart. Yeah. Meanwhile, Andrew Luck is andrew lot head hunting.

00:05:34
Speaker 8: Andrew luck got hurt a couple of times in his career making tackles.

00:05:38
Speaker 2: Yeah, man, you're just you're you're fired up.

00:05:43
Speaker 4: A little feisty. Yeah, try to make the tackle.

00:05:47
Speaker 9: Come on, you're gonna get me out for the year if you try to tackle somebody.

00:05:51
Speaker 4: Really, you're not running. A car is not running you over? Is another human being the.

00:05:55
Speaker 2: Year exactly like a car.

00:05:58
Speaker 4: Them bump them, give them a little bumpo. You don't have to get in front of him and let him run you over.

00:06:02
Speaker 9: There's got to be a way to help the process with the other ten guys.

00:06:06
Speaker 2: Got that guy who's a linebacker, I'm Patrick Mahomes. You threw the interception, Go get running. He's running fast, and he weighs two hundred and thirty pounds.

00:06:16
Speaker 4: Whenever he weighs, you're both football players. Go get him. You threw an interception, all right.

00:06:20
Speaker 2: Let me hear you're Patrick Mahomes impersonation. Then on trying to tackle somebody.

00:06:25
Speaker 4: That's the thing. I'm not trying to get him. But you know, I am the freest of the league.

00:06:28
Speaker 9: And we still consolation the season even a two and three, and we only won behind the Broncos and Charges, and I thought it might be best to pretend that I was going to try to tackle him.

00:06:35
Speaker 4: What the guys that are paid to do it?

00:06:37
Speaker 2: Thank you? All right, thank you, thank you. Why didn't you look for that stat as Mahomes ever won again?

00:06:44
Speaker 9: As we speak as a better of fact, Okay, crack research on.

00:06:48
Speaker 2: Get some of our best people on that. Marcus and Jacksonville. Congratulations Marcus.

00:07:00
Speaker 10: Let's go Jaguars.

00:07:02
Speaker 11: Dan.

00:07:02
Speaker 12: It's just nice to be relevant. This has been a very difficult thirty years. I've been in it from the beginning, from the get go. It was crazy. It's just nice to be relevant. All jokes aside, Like they both played a great game. I'm just I that's all the words I got.

00:07:19
Speaker 13: I'll take it off the air, all right.

00:07:20
Speaker 2: Congratulations Marcus, he's been there for thirty years. Go back to David Garrard when they started out four and one was David Garrard East Carolina? Is it sound right? Bloop blue bloop number eight?

00:07:36
Speaker 8: Is that at East Carolina or at that at Jacksonville?

00:07:41
Speaker 2: I'm nine nine. I'll give you half a point for that, okay, blue, not a or an oop? All right? So poll question for the second hour of the program, along with the Power in Dour rankings.

00:07:55
Speaker 5: See yeah, power Power in Dower is interesting because they're sort of going. There's no real surprises there, okay, which is fun to be Todd also sent over numerous pole questions. Paul has sent over another one as well.

00:08:10
Speaker 2: We got a lot of pole questions today.

00:08:11
Speaker 5: Would you rather snap your fingers and put on twenty pounds of muscle or lose ten pounds?

00:08:17
Speaker 2: There's one from Paul. Oh so, Victor wem Banyama looks like he's put on twenty pounds. Well, he needed to, He needed to put on twenty I think most Americans would snap their fingers to lose twenty pounds I'm good a guess, yeah, Paul.

00:08:33
Speaker 8: But you can put on twenty pounds of muscle where like whatever you are now, you're twenty pounds heavier, but you're in really good shape or just ten less than you are now and the current shape you're.

00:08:43
Speaker 2: In, Yeah, I think most of us would probably drop some pounds. What else do you have there? It's tough.

00:08:52
Speaker 5: It's tricky too, because you could go from if I would be about five eleven, say one ninety maybe one ninety five, maybe six foot if I can, I I'm gonna round.

00:09:03
Speaker 2: Up to six foot and then be oh, no, no, no, you're not in You're not in the six foot clode.

00:09:08
Speaker 5: I think I'm five eleven and three quarters, but you're not in the sixes. I know, I know, I'm I'm just gonna put the six in front.

00:09:16
Speaker 1: Uh.

00:09:17
Speaker 5: That could go from either that's like a borderline that if it's muscle though, I'll probably be in pretty good shape, or I could be a little heavy.

00:09:24
Speaker 2: So you would be Marvin if you put on twenty pounds, yeah, because you're both around the same size heightwise, well, Marvin bigger six ft. We would be exactly the same step that I would have bigger hands. That's how you can tell us apart is by our hand size. Uh, Fritzy, did you come up with the pick six record for Mahomes?

00:09:46
Speaker 9: Yes, he has not won a game in the IF the throwing a pick six, oh and five in the regular season, oh in one of the playoffs when throwing a pick six.

00:09:54
Speaker 2: Okay, thank you, Todd, thank you.

00:09:58
Speaker 11: In Day stand OUTA day, stand OUTA day, stand outa day.

00:10:05
Speaker 2: This is the stand of the Day, brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of the show. I know a lot of stupid stuff, like it's weird, but the things I'm supposed to know, I don't know. But there's always these randoms like oh, good poll or how did you know that? Yeah?

00:10:23
Speaker 5: Uh sorry, completely different topic. But Tony on Twitter is asking if Todd has CT.

00:10:29
Speaker 8: Wow, he's never tackled any.

00:10:36
Speaker 4: Football players are football players?

00:10:38
Speaker 5: I just love there's a guy like sitting at home and they're like, what's the deal with this dude?

00:10:41
Speaker 2: Man, this guy got CT.

00:10:43
Speaker 8: I went back and watched the Mahomes tackle attempt. It's not the worst. He kind of goes low and he definitely slows him down.

00:10:51
Speaker 2: It's not the worst. That's all I want, just kind of impede the progress, that's all. Don't don't be goofy. Don't go in there and you're gonna, you know, slam somebody in high school. Okay, college maybe pros. No, not at that position.

00:11:08
Speaker 7: Yes, Marvin, you've seen NFL quarterbacks run over guys and not go out of bounds and everyone's like, man, that's great.

00:11:14
Speaker 4: Don't ever do that again. Never. You're not footing. You're kind of football players. You're not footing.

00:11:20
Speaker 2: Cameron Cameron in Indiana? Hi, Cam, what's on your mind?

00:11:25
Speaker 11: Hey?

00:11:25
Speaker 14: Guys? So if you want content, I think I've got content for you.

00:11:28
Speaker 10: So that being said, I gotta I will take Indiana to win first grade ten.

00:11:33
Speaker 14: Marvin and Christy, you guys can have Oregon.

00:11:36
Speaker 10: But if you lose, you got to go to an African American barbecue together.

00:11:43
Speaker 2: So Cameron's taking his Hoosiers against Oregon. Correct Cam, Yeah, correct?

00:11:52
Speaker 15: Correct?

00:11:53
Speaker 4: Okay?

00:11:54
Speaker 2: And then if he loses, then he gets a spray town. And then if Fritzie and Marvin lose or Fritzie goes to a cookout, I.

00:12:04
Speaker 4: Want to go to that cookoddy. I think I win.

00:12:07
Speaker 2: Why is that.

00:12:10
Speaker 5: I want to be is gonna win and just say, Camery, you might want to rethink that a little bit, buddy, that doesn't come up the way you think it does.

00:12:17
Speaker 2: That's true. The cookout sounds like fun. I keep telling Marvin, what the heck, let's go to a cookout.

00:12:25
Speaker 4: To lose, you have to go to a black cookout, or.

00:12:27
Speaker 2: You lose, you have to go hang out with a bunch of black people eat food. Oh no, you win? What the hell? Okay, how about Todd? How about maybe you get a spray tan. Well, I don't know if you care about the Oregon Indiana game, not particularly, but.

00:12:45
Speaker 9: Oh they will and I and I'm ready for that barbecue, like right after the show's.

00:12:49
Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, that's that's not a punish. How about that you get a spray tan if Indiana beach organ?

00:12:55
Speaker 4: I have to think about that, very sentible. You can last I break out.

00:13:01
Speaker 9: I'm sorry, we got no we we gotta check with my dermatogs before I agree to that.

00:13:06
Speaker 2: Of course, you have sensitive skinned.

00:13:09
Speaker 4: I've got a big rash. What did you do?

00:13:11
Speaker 9: Dermatow's gonna be all mad at me? And I did the spray tan thing, and they made me do it at work.

00:13:16
Speaker 2: Why don't you tell me what you don't have, and then that would be easier the very it feels like you have everything.

00:13:23
Speaker 9: I've had some pretty much every part of my body has malfunctioned in some way, shape or form.

00:13:27
Speaker 2: Russell in Phoenix, Hi, Russ, what's on your mind today?

00:13:32
Speaker 16: Born?

00:13:32
Speaker 10: And Dan Danett's first time long time? Uh five eleven and three quarters one ninety soft, one ninety soft. Before I get into it, I think Fritzy's right, you got to make an effort as a quarterback. I mean, you see Trevor Lawrence like Babu diraffing his way into the end zone. If he can't get hurt doing that, I think Patrick Mahomes can make an effort. But anyway, is there a uh past the torch plan for when you retire? I seem to remember McLevin and I think it was Paulie having like a weekend morning show. You're gonna pass the torch to a couple of dan Etts once you hang it up in a couple of years. What's the plan there?

00:14:09
Speaker 2: I don't have any plans, I mean, and I'm not I don't want to announce it today with Lebron having his big announcement. It would overshadow a hijack. No, I don't. I wouldn't do that. Now, they got two and a half years decide if they want to put something together. See if you know anybody'd be interested in it. But I'm not involved in those conversations. Jacob in Indiana, Hi, Jake, what's on your mind?

00:14:37
Speaker 15: Warren Fellas six two two sixty. So you guys were talking about quarterbacks making tackles and how uncommon that is. There are fancy football leagues out there that if a quarterback makes a tackle, your team gets a hundred points.

00:14:57
Speaker 16: That's awesome.

00:14:59
Speaker 2: Well what about Jamar Chase since he had three tackles for the Bengals, do you get any any points that only quarterback? Huh?

00:15:09
Speaker 10: Only quarterbacks?

00:15:10
Speaker 15: But Lamar Jackson had one hundred and twenty seven points the other week whenever he tackled a guy.

00:15:16
Speaker 2: Thank you, Jacob, Yes, Todd is the concern.

00:15:19
Speaker 9: And the quarterback's mind anyway, when you're trying to make the tackle, that they're going to get hurt on the actual tackle, or they become someone that a blocker can just level trying to keep you from making that tackle, because that could happen too. They say, you're trying to make an effort that gives an opportunity to just totally take you out because you're trying to make a tackle.

00:15:35
Speaker 2: You realize you just answer your own question.

00:15:37
Speaker 4: I don't think I did. I'm wondering which one is there?

00:15:40
Speaker 9: The quarterback more worried about I'm gonna get hurt in the act of making the tackle or someone's going to level me as I try to get to that runner.

00:15:47
Speaker 2: Both.

00:15:48
Speaker 9: Which is worse, I guess is the question. He'll be fifty fifty point. Oh, one's got to be a worse thing than the other.

00:15:56
Speaker 2: You're not gonna let this go.

00:15:58
Speaker 4: I think it's sixty three percent worrying about I'm un leveling you and making the time.

00:16:02
Speaker 2: We're gonna take a break here. Fritzie confronts the Yankee broadcaster Dave si front tell Dave Howl disappointed he is with his lack of enthusiasm for the opposition. That's after this on The Dan Patrick Show.

00:16:14
Speaker 1: Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

00:16:24
Speaker 17: He's Mike Krman I'm Dan Bayern. We have a brand new fantasy football podcast called I Want Your Flex. Twice a week, every Tuesday and Friday, we come up with new episodes to not only look back at what happened, what you need to do at that minute, and also look ahead of what's coming up in the fantasy football world.

00:16:43
Speaker 1: That's right, Dan.

00:16:44
Speaker 11: Every week we're gonna scour the waiver wire to find the pickups to turbo boost your fantasy lineup six starts, fantasy football players rankings to get you ready to dominate the competition.

00:16:55
Speaker 17: Listen to I Want Your Flex with Mike Carman and me Dan Byer on the iHeartRadio app Apple wherever you get your podcasts.

00:17:02
Speaker 2: Christopher mad Dog Russo will join us coming up in an hour from now. Marvin part of his job, his responsibilities. Every morning he'll look for interesting soundbites. It could be a play by play call, it could be an answer from a coach or a manager or a player. And so Marvin played this on Monday, and to our surprise, Fritzy had a problem with Dave Simms called Dave is the Yankee broadcaster, and Vlad Guerrero just hit a Grand Slam Blue Jays scored ten and thirteen runs in the first two games, So this is the call, and then we'll bring in Dave Sims. So go ahead, Marv Carrera.

00:17:43
Speaker 3: That edition a two to one count. He's looking on the load right here, two one Pitt. He did big drive, left field grand slam.

00:17:58
Speaker 2: So Dave Sims kind enough to it's the Yankees radio play by play voice on w f A N. Dave, I don't know if you heard about this big controversy. You know social media circles. But you've been a broadcaster a long long time, and Fritzi had a problem. Fritzy, would you explain? First of all, great to see you, Dave, but under these certain Yeah, Fritzi, would you like to tell Davey that the problem you had with his call?

00:18:25
Speaker 4: I will preface by saying that I have to preference.

00:18:31
Speaker 1: No.

00:18:31
Speaker 9: I know a lot of time we worked together in the early nineties, and I will say when I heard that, at the moment I was, it made me think, how does a broadcaster that's doing a local teams game, how do you juggle a good play, especially in the playoffs?

00:18:46
Speaker 18: Joy you off?

00:18:49
Speaker 2: This is embarrassing. What do you what do you want? Me to show him, Todd, tell him what you said. I was.

00:18:56
Speaker 9: I was disappointed because it sounded like, you know, I don't how do you juggle the You know, you don't want to be a homer and obviously it's against the Yankees, but it's a big home run.

00:19:03
Speaker 4: Should you show a little more?

00:19:05
Speaker 9: I don't know if enthusiasm is probably not the exact word, but that's a big play in a playoff game. It happens to be against your team that you're calling games for, So how do you capture that?

00:19:13
Speaker 4: Or how im?

00:19:15
Speaker 2: No, I have to finish my son? Don no, No, you know you've had an opportunity.

00:19:18
Speaker 4: I didn't finish my thought your word thought?

00:19:21
Speaker 2: No, No, I'm not at all. You had a chance. Okay, Dave, here was the thing you had the call. Fritzy thought you should have been more enthusiastic because even though it was the Blue Jays, it was a Grand Slam in the postseason, and he was surprised that you weren't enthusiastic.

00:19:38
Speaker 18: Hey man, we're down five nothing. We got our clocks tune the day before. It had gone into page two in Game two. Here right at that moment, down five nothing and glad. He's been hot as a pistol, and I could see it coming. I've been around baseball long enough, played it long enough like Dan yet like he did, certainly not the highest, but I know, my baseball you could feel that coming. And I'm not going to sit here as a Yankee announcer and go, hey, wow, you know, Bro Grant slam and we're down by nothing.

00:20:10
Speaker 2: Come on.

00:20:11
Speaker 18: You know, I'm capturing the mood of Yankee fans. Okay, the element on Homer if you want, but I'm bringing the same emotion that those folks are having at home. And I also you know, in the immortal words of uh, you know Ray Scott, who's one of the great minimalists in our business doing play by play, you know, star Dollar touchdown.

00:20:34
Speaker 16: That was my baseball version of it.

00:20:37
Speaker 2: Yeah, I understood it that you're kind of you and Susan Waldman are sort of prefacing that something bad could happen because Vlad is you know, he's locked in. So you kind of led us up to the moment and it was basically calling a shot and going yeah, gone, and that was the mood there. But do you do you ever fight the urge of but you know, in fairness to what Fritzie was saying, you know, the enthusiasm. It is a playoff, but you are calling for the Yankees, the home team, And if I'm tuning in, the last thing I want to hear is damn Dave sounded really excited that Vlad hit a Grand Slam in the postseason.

00:21:16
Speaker 16: Well to that point, Dan, you know it's interesting. I love baseball. We all love it.

00:21:20
Speaker 18: We love it for the excitement, uh, you know, the juice that you get at a baseball game, particularly at this time of year, but anytime they're the regular season.

00:21:28
Speaker 16: I appreciate great plays.

00:21:30
Speaker 18: Now if a guy makes a heck of a play defensively, or makes a great catch the outfield, or he hits a bad.

00:21:36
Speaker 16: Pitch and he hits it out all out of Ladd Senior.

00:21:39
Speaker 18: You know I'm gonna exclaim, but I clearly I'm pulling for the Yankees. And now, granted I'm not doing a national broadcast where I got to be trying to stay down the middle, I have no problem going, hey man, I got I got n Y in my heart. I had see I went my heart, I got n Y in my heart. Now I'm root for these guys to pull, you know, pull through with the victory. I have enormous respect, you know, for the game, and I don't I don't think I did anything that was you know, out of the ordinary by any start. As a matter of fact, most of you know, family and friends and what people I've heard from him.

00:22:12
Speaker 16: Said, he sort of captured the moment. That's how we felt.

00:22:16
Speaker 2: How about when you're the local announcer and you're critical of your team, like when when do you when is that window or door open that? Yeah, I should be able to be critical with the team that's employing me.

00:22:31
Speaker 16: You have to be you tell the truth, Tell the truth. You know. We've had pictures.

00:22:34
Speaker 18: I've seen a couple of pictures this year where it's like the pen relays to get from the dugout to the batter spox because there is there's no fear of getting maybe not drilled, but pitched inside. You want to put batters in a comfortable, uncomfortable position. And I've I've criticized some guys on the ball club for that, and I've done in the past. Guy makes a bad play, you know, tries to make a superstar play out of a Sometimes we should just eat the ball he's saying, because the fans are saying the same thing. I'm telling the truth and I'm not making anything up. Bad plays a bad play, good plays a good play.

00:23:18
Speaker 2: If the Yankees get swept, finish that sentence.

00:23:22
Speaker 18: It's gonna stink, it's gonna hurt. Toronto's a very good ball club. I have a tremendous respect for him. As I like to call them, the non bold face names that they have on their ball club. You know about you know Vladdie, you know about George Springer, but you're talking about David Schneider, Ala Hendro Kirk Kwhy. I just I love that guy. He's five eight two sixty five and he's a great hitter. Ernie Clement, Miles Straw, Addison Barger. These are guys that you know, the mainstream not even a lot of the mainstream baseball fans. They don't even know who these guys are. And I've seen them, now what ten twelve times this year. I know how good they are. And I think the and Kevin Gosman was outstanding, and the Savage Kid yesterday the other day, it's off the chart, no hit ball for five and a third. I mean, well, eleven punchinges. I mean, come on, so it would be a very big disappointment. At disappointment. Yankees tied with Toronto for the type of the third best record in baseball, and if they get swept, that would just be termed.

00:24:23
Speaker 2: Who's going to wear this? If they get swept? Who gets the blame?

00:24:29
Speaker 14: Oh?

00:24:29
Speaker 16: You pick a lot of people.

00:24:30
Speaker 18: I don't want to leave anybody out.

00:24:34
Speaker 16: I don't know.

00:24:35
Speaker 18: I you know when I when I did my talk when I was on a talk show radio at f An many moons ago, I was big into that category since I moved in to play. By playing all these these last few years, I'm not picking up brick bats or eggs and throwing stuff. I mean, the team was constructed, it's a home run hitting team, and they've been out hit a home run?

00:24:58
Speaker 16: So what is it?

00:24:59
Speaker 18: Eight to one and fourteen three in the playoffs? In the postseason, then I'd hitting home runs. And certainly the inning that will live in infamy was the sixth inning game one basis loaded nobody out and score one run on a baseload of walk that should have been at minimum of three run a three run inning. So I mean the players, I guess you'd have to say any players don't performed, they didn't perform. But you know what, it ain't over seven one team and the seventeen team came from behind. That's what That's what I'm hanging my hat on right now.

00:25:30
Speaker 2: You worked in Seattle for a long time with the Mariners and now with the Yankees. Who is your MVP in the American League?

00:25:38
Speaker 18: I went with Judge, but I got no beef if Calf goes with it. I went with Judge because he leads to nineteen categories. Yes, cal Catcher runs it. The whole pitching staff does a great job. He had sixty freaking home runs.

00:25:53
Speaker 16: I get that.

00:25:53
Speaker 18: I get that, But Judge is overall worth nineteen categories. He's leading and about about that she's right below, And I just think that that carries a heck of a lot of weight on and that led the way on a team that hits a ton of home runs, and he hit fifty home runs, and the fact that what is it, won the batting title and hit fifty plus home runs. Third guy to do it, Fox and Mantle. So but again, I think I think it's gonna be a close vote.

00:26:22
Speaker 16: I really do.

00:26:23
Speaker 2: Yeah, I do too. Any last words for Fritzie, your former friend, former.

00:26:28
Speaker 18: Friend Roncos beat my eagle son. I'm probably more mad at him about that than Yeah.

00:26:37
Speaker 2: You're going to be enthusiastic, though, I want you to think about this, if you know, are you going to overcompensate with your call tonight that if we hits A Why.

00:26:50
Speaker 16: Would I do that?

00:26:51
Speaker 2: I know, I just you know the pressure. The pressure here. Fritzie's in your head.

00:26:57
Speaker 18: Layer, man, I've had I've had a lot worse voices in my Fritzy.

00:27:04
Speaker 2: Have fun tonight, Dave, Thanks.

00:27:05
Speaker 18: Hey, your pleasure is always Hey, Dan, thanks a lot, good to see him, man, And Hey, a load of the Dan.

00:27:10
Speaker 16: That's way to go boys. You guys are great.

00:27:12
Speaker 2: That's Dave Simms. He'll be on the call for Game three Blue Jay's Yankees on WFA on radio. I hope he's enthusiastic. You know when Toronto does something.

00:27:21
Speaker 4: Todd again, Enthusiastic is not the right word, but I'll play along.

00:27:24
Speaker 9: There's got to be some other word for what I'm trying to say about this, calling a big play that happened to go interest team.

00:27:29
Speaker 2: I like how you are playing along. You created this.

00:27:34
Speaker 4: I don't think I said anything vicious.

00:27:36
Speaker 13: I was.

00:27:36
Speaker 9: I was saying that a thing happens in a playff game, it happens to be yes, your to. But now the way Dave explained it, now I understand. I see the light that everything you call has to be based on the emotions of the local fans, and that's how you call. I thought that was more of the analyst than the play by.

00:27:48
Speaker 2: Play Todd, he didn't tell you anything that we didn't tell you. We told you.

00:27:53
Speaker 9: I guess it was good to hear from someone that had, you know, the two decades plus of play by play. But I didn't realize that the play by play person for a local game, no matter what's happening, really has to be totally into what the reaction is gonna be of the fans. Well, you know, good or bad. You know, you're trying not to be complete Homer. If something big happens that's done by the other team. That's all I'm saying, acknowledging it, not enthusiastically.

00:28:14
Speaker 2: You know, I can see the camera Stone he is laughing at you.

00:28:18
Speaker 4: Yes, of course he should. He's got a lot more experience than I do.

00:28:20
Speaker 2: He wrote to mock you he's laughing at you.

00:28:25
Speaker 4: An Slam home run. Here we go.

00:28:28
Speaker 9: I guess we're gonna have to win the next three.

00:28:31
Speaker 4: Knew that was coming.

00:28:32
Speaker 2: Just say Todd. There's nothing wrong with saying, you know what, my bad Nope, that was that was a bad take.

00:28:39
Speaker 4: We don't win the next three games or nobody.

00:28:41
Speaker 2: You can do that. You could, you can say that, but you die on so many hills you do.

00:28:47
Speaker 4: I never said that. They should have said that. It is a Grand Slam overroad.

00:28:50
Speaker 11: The Yankees are gonna just about done.

00:28:52
Speaker 4: This one's over and they gonna have to win.

00:28:53
Speaker 2: The next three.

00:28:54
Speaker 3: And they finished.

00:28:55
Speaker 2: Last week it was left Lane. This week it's Dave Simms.

00:28:59
Speaker 4: And the Broncos beat the Eagles.

00:29:01
Speaker 2: Yeah, and it was very the fast. Keith and Chico is back. Hi, Keith, Hey guys, good morning.

00:29:10
Speaker 10: I had a comment.

00:29:11
Speaker 19: About the quarterbacks making a tackle. I think you guys are right and that they cannot go and risk themselves like that. But I think there's freak athletes like Taysom Hill and Cam Newton that may be an exception due to their size and durability. But then again, you've got guys like Bryce Young on the Panthers They're definitely not asking him to.

00:29:30
Speaker 15: Make a tackle.

00:29:31
Speaker 13: That's my thought.

00:29:31
Speaker 2: Dan, thank you, yep, thank you. Keith Well, Taysom Hill's not a quarterback. They kept trying to make him one. I know he was in college and he's you know, a big guy. Cam Newton, I just too many, too many things can happen, and you are open for getting hit if you if you are pursuing the ball carrier, you are now fair game and now you can get blown up like any other player. Yeah, Paul.

00:29:58
Speaker 8: In twenty fifteen, Cam Newton MVP took his team to the Super Bowl. The next year, he injured his shoulder his AC joint trying to make a tackle. There's multiple articles I found out there said after Cam Newton through an interception, he went to make a tackle, extended his arm and it messed up his AC joint and it had never been the same again. His career changed off trying to make a tackle. And that's the biggest strongest quarterback of all time.

00:30:21
Speaker 2: By the way, do you realize and I just found this out that the Ravens are almost even with the Steelers to win the AFC North according to DraftKings. After everything we've seen with the Ravens that their odds are almost equal to the Steelers to win the AFC North. That's wild, Dustin in Cincinnati, Hi, dustin.

00:30:47
Speaker 14: High DP.

00:30:49
Speaker 20: I got a question about the six foot club. Before I joined pilitary out of high school, I was six foot even after twenty five jumps out of air claims being a paratrooper. I'm now officially five eleven and three sportes. Am I still getting into six foot club?

00:31:09
Speaker 2: You were in the club, but you're not in the club anymore. I'm sorry, Dustin, You're just you're not. It's gonna happen to Marvin. It happens to a lot of the great ones that you're six foot now, but you're you're not gonna be forever Marvin. Yes, Paul.

00:31:25
Speaker 8: And also that was a clear hubble brag by the caller saying at five to eleven while being an airborne ranger is tough guy talk.

00:31:32
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, if you're an airborne ranger and tough guy, then you don't care that you're under six feet. I wouldn't. I'm like, no, I don't care. I'm badass. All right. Let me take a break here. More phone calls coming up and We're back after this Dan Patrick show.

00:31:51

00:32:04
Speaker 2: Hi, Paul, what's on your mind today?

00:32:09
Speaker 18: Dan?

00:32:10
Speaker 14: Big fan, Sir six foot and envious one ninety five. Hey, I gotta help. I gotta help my friend Todd Fritz out on this pod. Don't be the guy that argues just to argue. John Elway wins two Super Bowls for the Broncos. Heir apparent Brian Greasy comes in. Who is our running back? Brian Greasy throws the pick. Drell Davis tackles, the guy gets hurt, ruins his career. Stay out of the picture.

00:32:39
Speaker 2: So I got d all right, thank you, Paul. There you go, Tod at hit home Drell Davis.

00:32:46
Speaker 4: That is a very good example.

00:32:47
Speaker 9: I just wonder, I just wonder what the other players, you know, do they understand that that the star players, whoever's considered a star player should stay out of the way and not try to make a tackle.

00:32:56
Speaker 2: Well, I think it's reactionary. Sometimes you see something happen, maybe you're responsible for it, and then you want to go make the tackle. But I think you got to live to see another plag Don't be a hero, especially at quarterback. Can't, can't. Matt in Virginia, Hi, Matt, what's on your mind?

00:33:16
Speaker 4: Hey Dan?

00:33:17
Speaker 10: How you doing.

00:33:18
Speaker 13: I got a comment about Fritzie with the announcer. You know, I agree with Fritzie because I think he could have put a little embellishment on the negative.

00:33:32
Speaker 10: He could have said.

00:33:33
Speaker 14: Guerrero with the shot, Oh, that seals the deal the game.

00:33:37
Speaker 13: You know, he could have gone off on the negative en a little bit more, hicked it up negatively though.

00:33:42
Speaker 2: Oh okay, so you kind of agree with Fritzy of adding more enthusiasm, but negative enthusiasm.

00:33:48
Speaker 13: There you go.

00:33:49
Speaker 2: Okay, all right, thank you man. So Matt's kind of with you, Todd, I'll take I'll take that half credit, kind of of course you will.

00:33:56
Speaker 4: I'll take it.

00:33:58
Speaker 2: We talked a lot about this play yesterday. Amari Demorcado of Arizona and I fumbled the ball out of the end zone. He didn't go into the end zone with the ball. The running back for Arizona. There was a moment on the sidelines where Jonathan Gannon, the head coach of the Cardinals, is airing his running back out and it looked like there was some contact made from the coach to his player on the sidelines. And here is Jonathan Gannon, the Cardinals head coach, on that situation.

00:34:31
Speaker 21: I woke up this morning and didn't feel great about it, honestly, and so in a team meeting, I addressed it. I apologize to Omari, apologize to the team, and I just told him I kind of let the moment of what happened get the better of me there, obviously, like I try to be emotionally stable and calm because my job is to solve problems when during a game, and kind of the charge on that. So it's not really who I am who I want to be. And I told the guys that today.

00:35:07
Speaker 2: Yeah, he was wrong. You know, coaches always would preach composure, composure, don't lose your composure. Coaches lose their composure far more than players do. And that was a moment that he should not be. Well, I'm glad he's apologizing because that was embarrassing. And if you're putting your hands on one of your players, that's when you get the players association involved in it. That's where you get other players viewing this. Maybe they view you differently. So, yes, did Demarcado make a terrible mistake. He did embarrassing mistike. But the coach doesn't have to add to that. I think you can get your message across. But get your message across as a coach, not somebody who's just yelling and screaming. But I would say to every one of my players if this was something that happened a couple of times, everybody who scores, bring the football to the sidelines, everybody, and then I, as the coach, will pay for that, because you have to pay for the footballs and I will pay for that. But we will not have this will never happen again. You score a touchdown, you walk to the sidelines, you give it to the equipment manager, and we never have this mistake again. We should never have this mistake. But that's why I'm putting this in. Don't score a touchdown or think you're scoring a touchdown and you want to celebrate too soon. Mark and Saint Cloud is back. Hi, Mark, what's on your mind today?

00:36:39
Speaker 16: Hey? Dan?

00:36:40
Speaker 22: First of all, love the show. Well, we I'm the program director of the station here. We added you guys recently. We're happy to have you back. We were at affiliate we weren't and everybody loves the fact that you guys are back. Number one, number two Fritzy question for you, By the way, you are the embodiment of the Jelly of the Month club. You are the gift that keeps on gift. I'm telling you, every day you give us something. But last year n CAA tournament we get knocked out on a last second shot. I'm supposed to be excited about the fact we lost on the last second shot when nine seniors' careers just came to an end. Guys I've been with for five years because of COVID.

00:37:18
Speaker 4: Definitely not excited. I'm trying to again, and this is a work in progress for me.

00:37:22
Speaker 9: How do you juggle a big play in the moment in the world of sports with you know, being understanding the local fans are upset and trying to capture the emotions of the fans that did not like what just happened, but still acknowledging in some way should perform a big play that happened in the sports world, which happens to be against your local team, And I don't know if I have a full grasp of it, so, but enthusiasm and we've been using that a lot is definitely not the word. There's something not something to cheer or revel in that your team just got knocked out.

00:37:50
Speaker 2: Okay, that helps you, Yeah, hopefully that's thank you, Mark for calling it great to be back in Saint Cloud. Yes, at least you still feel that way.

00:38:03
Speaker 4: They're month to month right now with them.

00:38:04
Speaker 2: Yeah, day to day, day to day. How about this divided locker room? Disastrous results? Players, parents blame the coach, guess the team. Multiple sources with knowledge of the inner workings of Bill Belichick's program say North Carolina football losses are a product of a divided locker room, a disorganized coaching staff, and a failure to communicate. Pat Welter of WRL sports anchor and reporter is the one who did a deep dive on this quite a few pages here, But it just talks about really what a disaster it is. Let's see, North Carolina has been outscored one twenty to thirty three versus the how are four teams? After losing to Clemson. After the loss, Belichick was asked what he asked to say to the fans and donors who feel like they're not getting their money's worth, We're going to keep working and grinding. We're going to move in the right on the right track. Wow, okay, now I'm ready. Yeah, Paulie, I.

00:39:23
Speaker 8: Was reading the article, and there's a bunch of issues between when you have seventy transfer players, there's some leftovers. There's maybe forty from the last regime, and the transfer players may be getting different nil deals than the people who are staying who didn't play that well. So there's an instant division and locker room.

00:39:39
Speaker 2: Yeah. Parents were told not to approach Belichick. Wow. I don't know if that now in fairness to Belichick, I don't know if that's standard practice with other coaches. I'm not sure if it was that way with Saber or you know, Dion or Dabbo or whoever. But I mean that almost feels like they don't look me in the eye kind of thing in the hallway. Yes time, it's not Little league baseball.

00:40:11
Speaker 4: Parents shouldn't be approaching the head coach of a team.

00:40:13
Speaker 9: I don't know, if you got a problem, I don't put in the suggestion box or something that would be very odd for a parent to go toe to toe with Bill Belichick on campus.

00:40:22
Speaker 2: They're not they're not they this was a spring game and parents are there. They didn't even get to meet with him until the spring game. The parents, so they're not walking up to him and saying, how dare you even? Why isn't my shof?

00:40:36
Speaker 9: But they still shouldn't go up to the I don't need the parents, doesn't need to go up to the head coach.

00:40:41
Speaker 2: Parent of a current North Carolina player said there's no communication with coaches and parents period, none, zero zilch. Not one email from a coach, one text, one phone call. Nothing. Sounds like we got a failure to communicate it. Two hours in the books One More to Go? Does Fritzie have a problem with Christopher mad Dog Russo he joins his next
