Gabby & Rachel on Life Updates and the ‘Bachelorette’ Finale

Bachelor Happy Hour

Straight from sitting in the audience at “After the Final Rose,” today’s episode features a fabulously chaotic and fun convo with former Bachelorettes and two of our favorite gals, Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia. In their conversation with Joe and Serena, the girls share their thoughts on everything that went down at Charity’s finale, the biggest differences from their season versus Charity’s, and why they are so excited to have Joey as the next Bachelor. Plus, Rachel teases a wilder summer in “Paradise” than the trailer showed and Gabby shares why, in her relationship with Robby Hoffman, she’s the happiest she’s ever been.

Speaker 1: What's up everyone? Welcome to another episode of Bacheler Happy Hour. We are live after the finale, and it was quite a finale. I'm here with my lovely co host, Serena, my wife.

00:00:12
Speaker 2: Hello, I'm here.

00:00:14
Speaker 1: That's me and the two former bachelorettes, Gabby and Rachel.

00:00:18
Speaker 3: Failed.

00:00:21
Speaker 1: Yes, you are both. You are both huge failures and that.

00:00:25
Speaker 3: Is thank you, Joe.

00:00:27
Speaker 4: What we're here to talk about today?

00:00:30
Speaker 5: So?

00:00:30
Speaker 1: Where did it all go wrong.

00:00:36
Speaker 3: Before it started?

00:00:39
Speaker 1: Okay, so tonight, what are our thoughts on what should we talk about? First?

00:00:48
Speaker 2: Just happened? Yeah? I know?

00:00:49
Speaker 1: But what do we think of Charity or Aaron B? What about Aaron B? How do you feel about that?

00:00:56
Speaker 3: I think it was desperate.

00:00:58
Speaker 5: I personally love Aaron. I spent some time with him. I think I get where Gabby's coming from with what you just said, But I will say I think there are times where we as leads have to make really hard decisions not knowing a lot of facts. I did watch the season, the last episode, I think with Charity and Xavier, that was insane.

00:01:27
Speaker 3: I thought that was.

00:01:28
Speaker 5: Something like I've never seen before in this show seen that either. And I think if Charity maybe would have had this information going into the week of overnights, she made have.

00:01:39
Speaker 3: Made a different decisions.

00:01:40
Speaker 5: So it's just hard for me to say because we know what it's like not having every single detail, and you think you have this connection and you.

00:01:51
Speaker 3: Don't know everything.

00:01:52
Speaker 1: I don't know.

00:01:53
Speaker 5: Maybe the way he went about it was wrong, just from a walk like watching.

00:01:58
Speaker 6: Yeah, speaking from a place of ignorance, I don't know I'm coming in, but like he Aaron was sent home at hometowns, and I think, like, I don't know, there's already whatever three contestants slept.

00:02:12
Speaker 3: Like if she's like gracefully.

00:02:14
Speaker 6: Sending you home, you're like, oh, that was my chance, thank you, But.

00:02:17
Speaker 3: This is probably it for us.

00:02:18
Speaker 6: Like I think there's some signs you can take from being clued in, like you're being sent home, so she doesn't like necessarily want to continue on with you.

00:02:26
Speaker 3: So coming back to Fiji was a big risk.

00:02:30
Speaker 6: You don't have anything to lose, so you might as well. But no, it didn't, and I think it didn't pay off right away. You could kind of tell, coming from an outsider.

00:02:40
Speaker 5: But she did take him in, she said, But she could have said no, yeah, said she did take him back when she sent him.

00:02:50
Speaker 2: Home during Hometowns, I would say out of the whole season, that was the most like uncertain.

00:02:57
Speaker 4: I think we saw her like she was breaking down.

00:02:59
Speaker 2: She was super and she literally said to him like I don't even know why I'm doing this, like I can't give you a reason, Like I'm not even sure if I'm making the right decision. So I feel like there was like still that down in his head on like what if she's sitting in Niji being like I shouldn't have done that, which she might have.

00:03:14
Speaker 4: Been because Xavier and her were not going to work out at that point.

00:03:17
Speaker 6: Yeah, maybe I will say just like I don't know and I can only speak for myself and that like I I kind of knew obviously, like going into hometowns, I only took three, like my mental capacity and my heart can only take so much. So maybe I don't know who I'm like whatever the four people I'm going to take to hometowns or two, but I knew there was a solid two. So like whether there's like kind of a third player but not really like active.

00:03:43
Speaker 2: Yeah, like even if that third person was, like there was something there, like they weren't on the same level as the others.

00:03:49
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, do you feel the same way, Rachel.

00:03:52
Speaker 5: It's hard for me because me and Gabby, I feel like we had such a different season where we really knew going into those overnight two or two were I don't know what Charity was going through as a solo bachelorette.

00:04:07
Speaker 4: Could you have had those feelings for four people?

00:04:10
Speaker 5: Totally? We could never know because we were dividing thirty guys between. Yeah, the two of us going, like Gabby said, into my overnights, did I know my two Yeah?

00:04:20
Speaker 3: Yeah, and overall I don't know.

00:04:22
Speaker 6: Charity seems happy, So like what are we talking about Aaron for?

00:04:25
Speaker 7: But yeah, like watching this season, like you said, like there was that like little bit of room where maybe he could have still been there, And then watching what happened with Xavier, I could see why maybe she would have taken him.

00:04:37
Speaker 4: Back into yea all the way to phase I kick you off the island.

00:04:44
Speaker 5: It's a grand gesture, I think, as you want to see guys coming back and being like I see you as the mother of my children, that's a huge gesture.

00:04:54
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, we're over that. Let's go to.

00:05:00
Speaker 5: Enough of it.

00:05:02
Speaker 1: Yeah, I would say, Joey first, So let's do the cover the Joey breakup. That was so sad.

00:05:08
Speaker 2: Actually okay, the moment when she like started bringing in he looked at her and was like, it's okay, like basically like it's okay, like break my heart, like just do it.

00:05:17
Speaker 4: I was like, Oh, that's so hard.

00:05:19
Speaker 1: Did either of you two feel that way on your season letting anyone go? Like was it that emotional for you?

00:05:27
Speaker 6: I'll speak to like when I was in Joey's position, and it was never that easy. I'm never going to show up and be like break my heart, but I'm a little bit more of like a fighter, and I think that's just like the difference in personality. But for me, I was so in it no matter what that I'm like, you were always gonna hear from me, like if you're going to break my heart and you have something to say to me that I wasn't on the end with like, I'm it's not going to be okay.

00:05:56
Speaker 2: But I think you exactly like we see Joey, he takes it and he accepts it and he leaves a lot.

00:06:05
Speaker 4: There's no anger in.

00:06:06
Speaker 1: It, and I think.

00:06:09
Speaker 3: No payball. Different emotions are one thing, but paintball.

00:06:14
Speaker 6: I don't fight gladly, but but I think, yeah, it shows like obvious, but I guess again, like I never really made it to proposals, like our journey was much different, so I was never totally in Joey's shoes. But I always remember thinking on Clayton's season and on my own, like I wouldn't know what to do if there's two of us here because there's so much to talk about, like for somebody showing up to proposals, that if there's two people showing up to proposals, there's one person you know that you are not going to say yes to. And like for me, that would always end either in like like heartbreak naturally, which I think Joey showed, or you know, on the other side, like I went in being like I will not have two men proposed to me at them because I think, like you know what I mean, But I think it's just like a different in personality and our season was so different.

00:07:06
Speaker 3: So but I think it was.

00:07:08
Speaker 6: Really big of Joey to be like, here's your out kind of like I'm not going to like drag you through the.

00:07:12
Speaker 5: Mud, right and like similar like to what you said, it's so hard for us to even compare it because we never had those two guys telling our families like this is the mother of my children, like I'm in love with her, I want to propose. We both had people that had reservation, so I guess we could never really compare our ending because we just only had one person who was like willing to do that for us.

00:07:40
Speaker 6: And that's what we always say, like everyone's journey is different because everyone is so different, like you saw it. Obviously, we're going to be different than Charity, than the next and the next, and I think like everyone led with their heart and that's the most important thing.

00:07:54
Speaker 1: Do you think that Joey becoming the bachelor eases the heart break and makes it quicker to get over?

00:08:04
Speaker 3: I mean I think so.

00:08:06
Speaker 6: Yeah, because there's a lot of time that has passed. There's like there's a lag between filming, airing and then AFR which is live, so he's had like a couple months to get over it, to prepare.

00:08:19
Speaker 3: I don't know if tonight was the first time he found out he was the bachelor.

00:08:23
Speaker 6: I think we assume, but I also think he but I think he led on that he kind of knew before. Also if he knows one of his good friends is with her and is like, what are you going to do?

00:08:35
Speaker 3: Like you can't really be like that upset over it.

00:08:38
Speaker 1: So yeah, I.

00:08:39
Speaker 5: Think personally, for me, I love to see a lead that did not want to be the lead, Like I love watching someone who wanted to be with the Bachelorette because I feel like for me and Gabby, we stayed after having such a hard time at the Rose ceremony from hell, whatever you want to call it, you make a good lead out of someone who never wants to be in that position because we wanted to be engaged.

00:09:05
Speaker 3: He wanted to be engaged.

00:09:06
Speaker 5: So I think that's the way, Yeah, eases the pain. It does, But you never want to see someone who was just there because they wanted to be in that position. And I think he's the perfect person because he clearly wanted to be with her.

00:09:20
Speaker 2: Yeah, And I think people's hearts then go out to him more because it's like.

00:09:24
Speaker 4: He did almost have that love story that he.

00:09:27
Speaker 2: Was there for and it didn't work out, and it's like, now here's the second chance, Like you were in love.

00:09:33
Speaker 4: With this person, you were ready, were going to do it, like you.

00:09:35
Speaker 2: Were gonna get engaged in this person and now it's like okay, yeah, I think it does ease the blow because it's.

00:09:41
Speaker 4: Like, here's hope for you to get it right.

00:09:44
Speaker 6: It was a moving on man, it's a mom. It's like a moving on person. Like we all need that to get over, like our heartbreak. There's no chance with Charity, she's happily engaged.

00:09:53
Speaker 3: Yeah, so like you have to move on.

00:09:54
Speaker 1: Yeah, all right. Before we get into Charity and Datton, what do we think about the two girls that were in the audience.

00:10:02
Speaker 3: We were watching the whole time on the side.

00:10:05
Speaker 1: Okay, now do we think so, let's the blonde hair girl? Is she out?

00:10:11
Speaker 2: So the two girls that were in the audience, Annie and Leah. Leah ended up getting called up. Which did you guys expect one or the other?

00:10:19
Speaker 3: Like what did so?

00:10:20
Speaker 2: I personally was like, there's no way they're just gonna not take one of these girls.

00:10:24
Speaker 4: They're gonna take both. So when they called up Leah.

00:10:27
Speaker 2: I was like waiting for them to be like hah, like we're also calling up Annie.

00:10:31
Speaker 4: Did you guys have like you thought they were gonna pick one or the other or both?

00:10:35
Speaker 6: Well, we saw Annie coming up into the audience like just like kind of being walked out late, and we're like, oh, yeah, that's the.

00:10:42
Speaker 3: Girl for sure.

00:10:43
Speaker 6: So then when they were like okay, one of the girls whatever introduced everybody and they were like it's Annie, and then me and Robbie were like breaking our necks like looking at Annie, and.

00:10:52
Speaker 3: She was like, oh my gosh, oh my god, Like I had no idea, Like.

00:10:56
Speaker 6: That's kind of cruel, like if you like, because why else is she showing up, you know what I mean? Like she is here under the premises that she could be on the next season. Obviously you're gonna think it's you. She's a beautiful young woman. There's no reason, Like my my gut instinct is like she's gonna be called tomorrow and be like you're also on.

00:11:17
Speaker 4: I think you, just like weren't I hope.

00:11:19
Speaker 2: So she's saying like I want it to be Joe. She's obviously super interested, and then it's not her.

00:11:25
Speaker 4: So I'm hopeful.

00:11:26
Speaker 1: I think she's got a better chance now to I think she. I personally think she has the better chance now.

00:11:32
Speaker 3: I love an underdog. She saw Joe is underdog.

00:11:41
Speaker 5: Married next Literally, yeah, we might be.

00:11:50
Speaker 2: All right, okay, the next America's underdog. So Charity and Dotton, how happy are we for them? How do we feel about the relationship as like former bachelorettes looking in go.

00:12:13
Speaker 4: I feel like going on for Charity.

00:12:17
Speaker 5: Watching Charity and her engagement to Don, it feels like she knows exactly who she wants, what she wants. I think it's just so solid. For Gaby and I it was just a little bit different because I think we were still a little like on the fence, and she just seems to know that he is the one, and I truly watching her feel like he is.

00:12:44
Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree, Yeah, totally.

00:12:47
Speaker 6: Like Charity and Dotton starting off on the right foot, that is like the most important. They look like they're so happy. It looks like he fully supports her, and really that's like all you can ask because like he just like loves her so much.

00:13:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like you really get a sense of like unwavering confidence from the both of them about their relationship. Like they just do seem very solid and like they literally feel like they're like so mades.

00:13:16
Speaker 6: Actually, Yeah, it seems like they're just like made for one another.

00:13:20
Speaker 1: And Charity Charity got announced me. I Danced with the Stars. You did Dancing with the Stars, so.

00:13:25
Speaker 5: Did you Joe icons in the room means too champagne drink too fan?

00:13:38
Speaker 6: Yes, I if Rachel and I know anything about Dancy with the Stars will be front row.

00:13:45
Speaker 5: Was watching Gabby in the front row, so I'm like, I would never did it.

00:13:50
Speaker 3: You're the best.

00:13:51
Speaker 5: But I got to go to every single show for Gabby and to know that Charity gets to experience the happiness I think it brought Gabby is amazing because I saw how much that helped you after our season.

00:14:04
Speaker 2: So do you have any tips for Charity Gabby going into this season of life on the show to navigate like the demands of being on Dance with the Stars and balancing a new relationship.

00:14:19
Speaker 3: I think, honestly, it really depends on Charity. Location is a big deal.

00:14:24
Speaker 6: Obviously, dancing is in La so I don't know if he's going to be able to relocate with her. If he can, that'll be really important because you don't have a lot of free time on.

00:14:33
Speaker 3: Dancing with the Stars.

00:14:35
Speaker 6: But you know, their relationship seems so solid and it's like, if you're meant to be, You're meant to be and It's like there's no advice or anything that anyone can tell you to make it any different. Like, if you're going to make it through it, you will. And I don't think Dancing with the Stars is a burden on a relationship.

00:14:50
Speaker 1: I agree with that. I agree because you will focus on your relationship if you want to follow us. Yeah, Rachel, can you tease little bit you see that you're in paradise? Are you just showing up? Are you hanging out? What are you doing?

00:15:06
Speaker 5: I'm in paradise. It's so funny because it started off as something we would all like kind of talk about, joke about, and then it turned into something very real. And I can say my time in Paradise was very real. I was very much there.

00:15:27
Speaker 4: To find someone genuinely.

00:15:29
Speaker 3: So we'll see if I do.

00:15:31
Speaker 4: And Yeah, knows well, I will say, you.

00:15:35
Speaker 5: Guys found love in paradise. You two, Becka and Thomas going into this. I'm like, if anything can work, it's gonna be Paradise. So let's let's try it.

00:15:48
Speaker 2: Well for our listeners. Rachel's sitting here right now wearing one of her own ear rings and one of someone else's earrings.

00:15:55
Speaker 4: I do We've got Brydon on the right ear and Rachel laugh. So do with that what you will.

00:16:02
Speaker 1: We will see what happens. And Gabby, you are happy, you're in a relationship.

00:16:08
Speaker 4: Speaking meant to be.

00:16:10
Speaker 3: Yeah, I know, I've never been happier. I feel, I don't know.

00:16:16
Speaker 6: It feels like a huge weight has been lifted and just like life is easy for once in a relationship.

00:16:22
Speaker 3: I feel like I've never had that before.

00:16:24
Speaker 2: That's like the best feeling. Like Joe and I always describe our relationship to this day is like so easy, and I just feel like that's something that like you can't really like work to make it easy, you know what I mean, Like it's either there it's not.

00:16:43
Speaker 1: I was very sweet.

00:16:46
Speaker 5: I've seen Gabby obviously in this setting.

00:16:51
Speaker 6: Relationship.

00:16:52
Speaker 5: I've seen Gabby in the relationship with Robbie. I've never seen her so happy, and it makes me want to cry because I'm like, I just want to see her at the end of the day with the person she's supposed to be with.

00:17:07
Speaker 2: I want to like go through this trailer a little bit more for Paradise, Like there was so much to unpack from the trailer in terms of like all these makeouts from all of these different people, the Panna Brown down, Katie coming down.

00:17:22
Speaker 4: We had a lot of like appearances of like are they here to date?

00:17:26
Speaker 2: Are they not?

00:17:26
Speaker 4: We had like I can't even believe I'm saying this.

00:17:29
Speaker 2: We had a poop baby situation.

00:17:32
Speaker 3: Like the turtle was unhit.

00:17:34
Speaker 6: It was absolutely uncalled ford that, you know, literally the.

00:17:38
Speaker 3: Visual and like this is too much.

00:17:40
Speaker 1: And we have a wedding, Yeah, I was getting married.

00:17:44
Speaker 5: Is it you too?

00:17:46
Speaker 2: It's not us, they're getting married.

00:17:50
Speaker 4: That hand was a little too pale for it to be mine.

00:17:54
Speaker 5: No, I I had a lot of thoughts going into this trailer what is it going to look like? I thought it was very underwhelming compared to what actually which is a good thing.

00:18:05
Speaker 4: Yes, I watched it and I was like, wait, where's the drama? Where's you? Because you know how much craziness happened. I found it.

00:18:13
Speaker 2: I love the Paradise teasers, Like I have such a soft spot for Paradise, so I get excited always for them.

00:18:18
Speaker 4: So for you to say, like as someone who was.

00:18:20
Speaker 2: On the beach, it was like a little underwhelming, Like that just goes to show like there's so.

00:18:24
Speaker 4: Much more to see this season.

00:18:26
Speaker 5: Oh there is so so much more to see.

00:18:31
Speaker 4: I am very.

00:18:31
Speaker 3: Excited for em when to see it.

00:18:33
Speaker 5: I think what aired is like completely like just very mild compared to what happened.

00:18:40
Speaker 3: Oh that's a good teaser.

00:18:43
Speaker 2: Wait, I want to ask you, Rachel, so what was your mindset like going in to Paradise and like your expectations and did that change while you were down there?

00:18:53
Speaker 5: I think going in obviously looking at you two, looking at Becka and Tom miss we have tried every single avenue and it really was a joke like going down to Paradise, like oh well, just go down and then it became a real thing. And when I was there, I was serious about knowing what Paradise could be for couples like you and Marie and Kenny and Beca and Thomas. And I'm like, let's see if this could work. So we'll see it does Who knows.

00:19:26
Speaker 4: Anything can happen in Paradise? I can't wait.

00:19:30
Speaker 1: Was the first lead ever to go onto Paradise? Yes? Do you think that helped your decision? Do you think that swayed you in any way?

00:19:39
Speaker 5: A thousand percent the amount of times I say Becca in this season, people will be annoyed because I'm like Becka, Thomas Beck and Thomas like it didn't work for her, And I think I did talk to Becca right before coming down and I had a long talk with her and I was like, what do you think? What should I do? Because I didn't know if it was the wrong decision truly, and she was like, Rachel, my time in Paradise was the most fun.

00:20:08
Speaker 3: I ever had.

00:20:10
Speaker 5: If you feel like you even a little bit want to do this, just give it a chance. And so obviously our season didn't end the way I wanted it to. I was fully single months before the world knew. So I was like, let's just see if this could work for me, because it worked for you, and it worked for Becca, and it worked for so many people. And Abigail and Noah just got engaged, and Hannah and Dylan are getting married this week, you guys next week. So I'm like, if anything can work, it's Paradise.

00:20:42
Speaker 1: Literally, like our season was wildly successful.

00:20:47
Speaker 5: Yes, if if a marriage, if engagement works, it's in Paradise.

00:20:52
Speaker 3: That's what I want.

00:20:54
Speaker 5: So I said, let's go to Paradise. I love it.

00:20:56
Speaker 3: You're like, not Jameson too. She was so so happy.

00:21:01
Speaker 1: Of course, do you know what happens to her in Paradise?

00:21:04
Speaker 4: No, liar, she's winking. This is the podcast. They can't see that.

00:21:14
Speaker 2: Okay, what are you more excited to watch Paradise or Gary.

00:21:20
Speaker 4: The Golden Bachelor?

00:21:22
Speaker 3: Honestly, obviously Paradise because of Rachel. Every time you were on in.

00:21:29
Speaker 4: The trailer, I was like clapping in the stands. I'm like, do you guys know who that is? I'm sorry, that's our bachelorette?

00:21:39
Speaker 1: Yes, But what do you think of Golden Bachelor?

00:21:41
Speaker 3: I think the editing looks incredible.

00:21:43
Speaker 1: It looks like mom, I love the edits. It looks like a movie.

00:21:51
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:21:51
Speaker 4: House with his kids was like, I'm like, who is producing this? Like this looks like Bachelor. It looks like a movie.

00:21:57
Speaker 3: They put a filter on it, and you know what, it works.
