<v Speaker 1>Hey, everybody, welcome to Game Mess Mornings with Me Jeff Grub, <v Speaker 1>your host from giant bomb dot com. <v Speaker 3>Thank you for tuning in. <v Speaker 1>In this episode, we're going to be talking about all <v Speaker 1>the news coming out of Tokyo Game Show even before <v Speaker 1>it starts, and reviews for Final Fantasy Tactics and Baby <v Speaker 1>Steps are in. It's gonna be a good one because <v Speaker 1>we have Janatchoa on the show. <v Speaker 3>Jen, how are you doing? <v Speaker 2>That's right. They tried to take my power away. They <v Speaker 2>tried to silence me. I did not get raptured, so <v Speaker 2>I demanded I'm gonna be here on a Wednesday because <v Speaker 2>I need to yap a bit. <v Speaker 1>Grub, Yeah, we need to get you back on the website, <v Speaker 1>back out there talking as soon as possible. You are <v Speaker 1>now generating your own electricity, rubbing potatoes together. <v Speaker 3>I think I'm not sure what you're doing over there. <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah. I found a Science Fair book at one <v Speaker 2>of those free libraries and it just said connect wires <v Speaker 2>to potatoes. And you know what. I went to Costco <v Speaker 2>a couple of weeks ago, got a bag of potatoes. <v Speaker 2>I'm good to go. <v Speaker 1>My algorithm has shifted slightly in recent weeks for who <v Speaker 1>knows what reason to advertising me meal like survival meal kits, <v Speaker 1>things that'll last for like, you know, fifteen years. It <v Speaker 1>storats a shelf stable. And there's like the book. It's <v Speaker 1>called the book. It's this collection of things you would <v Speaker 1>need to do to restart society. I'm like, oh, no, <v Speaker 1>they like have pegged me as a prepper. Look, they're <v Speaker 1>not wrong, but I'm the least prepared prepper you've ever met. <v Speaker 3>So maybe it is time I go ahead and get this. <v Speaker 2>But you're like, you're like a jazz prepper grub. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, right, it's about the things I don't prep <v Speaker 1>jan Absolutely. I feel like I should like complete my <v Speaker 1>bug out bag at least to really own this. I <v Speaker 1>have some stuff in there, but not much. Maybe put <v Speaker 1>some water bottles in there. <v Speaker 3>Who knows. <v Speaker 2>Forgive my ignorance, but for a bug out bag, is <v Speaker 2>that supposed to cover your whole household or just a person? <v Speaker 2>It makes you cover their little buggy bags. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, you could have a bag for each person, but <v Speaker 1>I think that the idea is you want to have <v Speaker 1>at least two days worth of food and water and <v Speaker 1>clothes and you know a few other things for each person, <v Speaker 1>so you know, if you have younger kids, you probably <v Speaker 1>they probably don't have their own bags, so that probably <v Speaker 1>would all be in there. And then at that point, <v Speaker 1>you know, family of four, you might as well have <v Speaker 1>it all in one or two bags. But uh yeah, <v Speaker 1>now now you know the fun part is like, well, <v Speaker 1>what if I get that ready and then I I <v Speaker 1>geo locate my my second external home bag somewhere out <v Speaker 1>and outside of my home that I can go find <v Speaker 1>it in case I can't get into my home. <v Speaker 3>Jan what if I did that? <v Speaker 2>You use geo, you create your own geocash. <v Speaker 3>My my own personal geo cash. <v Speaker 1>I'll forget where I put it, and then I'll they'll <v Speaker 1>write it down somewhere on my phone grub. <v Speaker 2>They sell these like I don't know if they're necessarily <v Speaker 2>walkie talkies or and they're not quite satellite radios, but <v Speaker 2>backpackers use these that once they reach it like a <v Speaker 2>specific coordinate, they will shoot off a text to a <v Speaker 2>designated person saying like hey, I'm over here. <v Speaker 3>Yeah. <v Speaker 1>I was also seeing like there's a like a special <v Speaker 1>like open source texting protocol heart piece of hardware that <v Speaker 1>people have been building that can latch onto just about <v Speaker 1>any network and right on top of it. <v Speaker 3>But it's all secure and stuff like that. I don't know. <v Speaker 3>I'm looking into these things. <v Speaker 2>Grub so I figured it out in the endgame for <v Speaker 2>this website. Is you streaming out of a bunker, Mike <v Speaker 2>Manatti streaming out of a theme park of course, of course, <v Speaker 2>Jeff Backlar streaming out of a hockey rink, right, or <v Speaker 2>refrigerator or a refrigerator. I'm not quite sure where Dan <v Speaker 2>would be streaming. Actually, yeah, hell, hell, and then me <v Speaker 2>streaming out of a casino of course. <v Speaker 1>Okay, well, I'll be right there, coming up, coming out. <v Speaker 1>All right, let's explain ourselves. We're Giant Bomb. Hello YouTube. All right, we have a <v Speaker 1>lot to get into, so let's start the Morning Mess <v Speaker 1>with Baby Step reviews. They started coming in yesterday Jan <v Speaker 1>People were playing this game yesterday. I'm like, oh, yeah, <v Speaker 1>I've got that thing's already out. I guess it's out. <v Speaker 1>It's out, people are playing it. I've played a little bit, <v Speaker 1>want to play more. This is certainly my genre, and <v Speaker 1>really it's like to me, it's like, this is like <v Speaker 1>one of the things I really appreciate that only video <v Speaker 1>games can do. Only video games can like inaccurately sample <v Speaker 1>what it's like to walk and really play around with <v Speaker 1>that concept. And so what if we like were like <v Speaker 1>oversampled and try to be like, hey, let's get too <v Speaker 1>granular with the controls of walking. What if we did that, <v Speaker 1>It's like, oh, this is actually way worse. And then <v Speaker 1>and then what if we build a whole experience around that? <v Speaker 3>I love that stuff. Love Bennett Faddi yea one of <v Speaker 3>my favorite game developers. This game. You know, I think <v Speaker 3>I would have expected this. <v Speaker 1>It's got a seventy four on Open Open Critic right <v Speaker 1>now because some people just don't want this. They want <v Speaker 1>the walking to feel good in a video game, and <v Speaker 1>I understand. It has a seven point five out of <v Speaker 1>ten from Jordan and Now at analog Stick Gaming, who <v Speaker 1>says Baby Steps is a game that I got so <v Speaker 1>much more enjoyment from than I ever expected. It will <v Speaker 1>live long in my memory for being the funniest game <v Speaker 1>I've ever played. Although I recognize that it won't be <v Speaker 1>to everybody's taste, I believe it sets a new bar <v Speaker 1>for comedy and video games, and for that reason alone <v Speaker 1>it is. <v Speaker 3>Worth checking out. <v Speaker 1>And it got a nine out of ten from Travis <v Speaker 1>Northup at IgM, who says Baby Steps is an infuriating <v Speaker 1>ordeal of intentionally awkward physics that's brutal, unbelievably stupid, and <v Speaker 1>downright awesome. And it got a five out of ten <v Speaker 1>from Richard Segrave at GameSpew, who says challenge to challenging <v Speaker 1>you to make your way up a mountain, Baby Steps <v Speaker 1>is likely to be one of the most divisive games <v Speaker 1>of the year. With its hands off approach, You're left <v Speaker 1>to find your own fund as you ascend and struggle <v Speaker 1>with the simple act of walking. Ultimately, it just feels <v Speaker 1>a little too aimless and punishing for its own good. <v Speaker 1>So this is why I do always appreciate reviews jam <v Speaker 1>because I read that and I know exactly what that <v Speaker 1>review saying, and that to me sounds so exciting because <v Speaker 1>what we get from a lot of these kinds of <v Speaker 1>Bennet Foddy games and Bennet Faddy's done Quop, which I <v Speaker 1>get most people will probably know. <v Speaker 3>Jeff Becklar didn't know Quop, but most people should know <v Speaker 3>Quop he did. He's done a lot of stuff like <v Speaker 3>that he did. <v Speaker 1>Getting over it where he like really explored a lot <v Speaker 1>of these themes of failing and falling over but these <v Speaker 1>have all been like mostly two D games and like <v Speaker 1>confined on this on the Z access and you can't <v Speaker 1>you kind of can't wander. You just like there is <v Speaker 1>a path. Can you overcome the path? Can you get <v Speaker 1>over it? <v Speaker 3>Here? Here? <v Speaker 1>Like Dan was describing, he' said I'm just gonna go <v Speaker 1>down this hill and see what's down here, And he <v Speaker 1>kind of got to the bottom of the hill and <v Speaker 1>now he has to climb back up and fix this <v Speaker 1>mistake he's made. And on the way of like trying <v Speaker 1>to find his way again, he was going all the <v Speaker 1>way around the base of the mountain and encountering all <v Speaker 1>kinds of stuff that the developers laid in waiting for <v Speaker 1>the player to find. But you would never find it <v Speaker 1>unless you did, like made a major mistake. And the <v Speaker 1>idea of holding one of these in such a way <v Speaker 1>that it is a little bit more open again, I <v Speaker 1>find this to be very enticing. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I one hundred percent agree grub. I think something <v Speaker 2>that a lot of people may overlook when they see <v Speaker 2>baby Steps is how funny the game is intentionally designed <v Speaker 2>to be, and not just the falling over for the <v Speaker 2>fact that you're a middle aged dude in a onesie <v Speaker 2>awkward walking a dirty, dirty man walking up a mountain. <v Speaker 2>But Bennett Faddy is legitimately one of the funniest developers <v Speaker 2>out there. This may just be because I'm listening to <v Speaker 2>a podcast series talking about the Cullen Brothers, but there <v Speaker 2>are parts of Bennet Faddy that make me think, huh wow, <v Speaker 2>I am so happy for you to exist, for you <v Speaker 2>to inspire a whole different generation of developers afterwards. And <v Speaker 2>we've already seen that with what people will unfortunately call <v Speaker 2>streamer slop of like the climbing up games and everything <v Speaker 2>like that. But I hope also his influence in terms <v Speaker 2>of writing and pacing and the cadence of this of <v Speaker 2>the humor delivered also ekes out into whatever this streamer <v Speaker 2>slop is supposed to be. It is funny whenever I <v Speaker 2>see a Bennett Foddy game kind of get a five <v Speaker 2>out of ten review, and part of the complaints is <v Speaker 2>it being awkward and clunky, when that is kind of <v Speaker 2>on parts. <v Speaker 1>The whole thing, and again it's the only it's a <v Speaker 1>thing that only video games can do. You can't explore <v Speaker 1>the physical act of moving through a planet that has <v Speaker 1>gravity using a body that has two legs and arms <v Speaker 1>and has to like stand up awkwardly. <v Speaker 3>We're an awkward species jan and it's. <v Speaker 1>Like we don't we don't think about it, like because <v Speaker 1>we don't have to. But there's something to be said about, like, well, <v Speaker 1>let's explore the mechanics of moving and explore the the <v Speaker 1>dichotomy between having this weird, awkward human form versus this <v Speaker 1>like moving across a terrain. <v Speaker 3>And you know, I like that in a lot of <v Speaker 3>different things. <v Speaker 1>It's one of the reasons I like trucking games, just <v Speaker 1>having the entire dig into the dirt. I've talked about <v Speaker 1>that before. This is a similar thing, and it's just <v Speaker 1>you know, it goes back to Trespasser, right. Trespasser is <v Speaker 1>a game that I came out of Flight Club with <v Speaker 1>a lot of appreciation for because it does show that, <v Speaker 1>like even sampling a physical concept poorly, like you know, <v Speaker 1>having an arm and using tools or whatever, that there's <v Speaker 1>something to like be said about exploring that and feeling <v Speaker 1>that and getting an idea of like like what do <v Speaker 1>we want here? From controlling our characters and in general, <v Speaker 1>we do want something that just works. What if we <v Speaker 1>went the exact opposite direction to an extreme degree and <v Speaker 1>then and there's some poets there's something poetic in the <v Speaker 1>misery of moving these characters around. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I think there. I could easily see I think <v Speaker 2>piece being written about the beauty and the tragedy of <v Speaker 2>Bennett Foddy games, and tragedy mostly being just like the <v Speaker 2>poor reflection of our human experience of going up and walking. <v Speaker 2>And you know, like you said, Greb, that is something <v Speaker 2>that is only attainable through the medium of video games. <v Speaker 2>So I will support anything Bennett Foddy does. <v Speaker 3>Yeah. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, last thing on a bit of Faddy who were <v Speaker 1>glazing up but rightfully st rightly rightfully. So he definitely <v Speaker 1>has created that space for all those games you were <v Speaker 1>talking about, the streamer slop ones where he's sort of <v Speaker 1>proven that they can be artistic and thoughtful and you know, <v Speaker 1>you can reuse assets from a store and build a <v Speaker 1>game that says something still that was getting over it <v Speaker 1>for sure, and I talked to him about that. I <v Speaker 1>remember I interviewed him when I was a game speed <v Speaker 1>asking him like, hey, like, how do you feel about <v Speaker 1>games that just reuse assets. And he's saying, I think <v Speaker 1>this is something we should be protecting. We should be <v Speaker 1>creating a literal safe space for these neophyte developers to <v Speaker 1>come in here and and look around and be like, <v Speaker 1>I don't really know. <v Speaker 3>What I'm doing. <v Speaker 1>I'm not gonna I don't have any money to hire <v Speaker 1>an artist, but I have an idea for a game. <v Speaker 1>I'm gonna throw some some shit together and I'm going <v Speaker 1>to steal stuff and maybe I'll have a kernel of <v Speaker 1>a new idea. And he says, it's worth all all <v Speaker 1>of the other you know, the problems of asset flip <v Speaker 1>games and filling up the Steam store or filling any <v Speaker 1>store with a bunch of junk, is worth it for <v Speaker 1>protecting that kernel of a good idea in a random <v Speaker 1>game from a random new developer. And I just I <v Speaker 1>thought that was beautiful. So yeah, let's go. I'm gonna <v Speaker 1>play some baby Steps this week. <v Speaker 2>You know, Greg, we're currently going through Nintendo really slamming <v Speaker 2>the hammer down on any type of game that is similar, <v Speaker 2>not just because of Power World, but you know, other <v Speaker 2>similar Pokemon or monster summoning games, mister Coni, And yeah, <v Speaker 2>and that's incredibly, so so small minded in the world <v Speaker 2>of video games. But to see a small relatively small <v Speaker 2>creator like Bennett Foddi not really harping on any of <v Speaker 2>these other games like Only Up or the Chain Together <v Speaker 2>game we played for a bit and really supporting that <v Speaker 2>is amazing to see from like a developer. <v Speaker 3>Yep agreed. <v Speaker 1>The other reviews out today for Final Fantasy Tactics The <v Speaker 1>Evilise Chronicles excuse me as an eighty eight on Open Critic, <v Speaker 1>a nine out of ten from Steve Watts at Game Spot, <v Speaker 1>who says The Evilise Chronicles provides the best way to <v Speaker 1>play in all time classic even if it lacks some <v Speaker 1>of the archival glow up it deserves a ten out <v Speaker 1>of ten from CG Magazine's CHRISTE. Hogue, who says Final <v Speaker 1>Fantasy Tactics The Evilies Chronicles is a deathly rebuilt iteration <v Speaker 1>of a foundational title, making a title making a must <v Speaker 1>play RPG easier than ever to enjoy, and then a <v Speaker 1>seven point five out of ten from Nathan Hennessy at <v Speaker 1>Well Played, who says a toughest nails tactical RPG that <v Speaker 1>will have you emotionally invested Like few others in the genre, <v Speaker 1>this well voiced and sharpened remaster puts Final Fantasy's grandest <v Speaker 1>medieval political tale in its deserved spotlight. The titles, they're tiling, <v Speaker 1>they're doing it, They're making it happen. <v Speaker 3>Jan how you feeling. <v Speaker 2>I've been playing this game, grub surprise, surprise to no one. <v Speaker 2>If I reviewed games on this website, I think I <v Speaker 2>would easily give it an or well out of our scale, <v Speaker 2>a four or a five out of five. <v Speaker 3>Yep. <v Speaker 2>It it this the story, particularly with Final Fantasy Tactics <v Speaker 2>Evilise Chronicles. It's funny that it reflects a lot of <v Speaker 2>what we are currently going through and living through, with <v Speaker 2>a lot of political turmoil and like an authoritarian. <v Speaker 1>I've always heard that I've never played this one. I <v Speaker 1>always played Advance, So yeah, I need to go play <v Speaker 1>this one. <v Speaker 2>So my history with the Tactics series, I started with <v Speaker 2>Advance as well, and then I eventually circled back to <v Speaker 2>check out War of the Lines and realized both are maybe. Hey, <v Speaker 2>I think both Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and then this <v Speaker 2>are maybe top five Final Fantasy games. And I'll proudly <v Speaker 2>say that with my whole chest. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I told give some people on your team there. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, but gre like this. The thing that has stuck <v Speaker 2>out to me with the Tactics game specifically is the <v Speaker 2>story and for the pacing to kind of be tightened <v Speaker 2>up just ever so slightly to make it more palatable, <v Speaker 2>as well as the voice acting. I think friend of this, <v Speaker 2>I'm pretty sure friend of the site, Ben Star is <v Speaker 2>in it. I'm pretty sure I've heard Ben Star in it, <v Speaker 2>but that could just be me hearing Ben's starr in everything. <v Speaker 3>Sure. <v Speaker 2>On top of that, the gameplay is exactly what you <v Speaker 2>have played in the past, but that as well has <v Speaker 2>been tightened up. There are a couple of things I <v Speaker 2>agree with Steve Watts here that I'm surprised there is <v Speaker 2>not as much glow up or polish on specific things, <v Speaker 2>and that's mostly coming for me from a where you <v Speaker 2>see something like Octopath Traveler too just having a lot <v Speaker 2>of amazing particle effects and everything. But at the same time, <v Speaker 2>I kind of don't want all of that in Final <v Speaker 2>Fantasy Tactics, and they just nail absolute everything. If you <v Speaker 2>are a fan of the original games, or if you've <v Speaker 2>ever been curious to check out the Tactics games, this <v Speaker 2>is the one to check out. I've been playing it <v Speaker 2>on the PS five and I've put an obscene amount <v Speaker 2>of hours into it, and I think I'm probably gonna <v Speaker 2>buy it again for the switch too fantastic. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, do we do we know anyone playing it out <v Speaker 1>switch to or did they have? <v Speaker 3>They not sent out codes for that yet at. <v Speaker 2>The time when we were getting code, I don't believe <v Speaker 2>they were sending out switch to code just yet. <v Speaker 3>Okay, so we might still be. <v Speaker 1>I bet it runs just fine on there, but you know, <v Speaker 1>I'm always like, I want to be like double checking <v Speaker 1>still at this point. Okay, Yeah, eighty eight on Open Critic. <v Speaker 1>Gotta say, jam feel pretty good about that. I picked <v Speaker 1>up this game for four Fantasy Critic and now I. <v Speaker 3>Am projected number one for the year. <v Speaker 1>Think that everybody, we'll see how along that last though, <v Speaker 1>I got Ghost of Yota coming. I have like one <v Speaker 1>other big game still, Metroy Prime four have that as well, <v Speaker 1>So it's like those two hit I'm feeling pretty good. <v Speaker 1>And then if if Sony today at the State of <v Speaker 1>Play says that that God of War game is real, <v Speaker 1>the two point five D Metri Venue one, but it's <v Speaker 1>coming out next year. I'll be able to drop it <v Speaker 1>and maybe the people over at at open or the <v Speaker 1>Fantasy Critic. Well, start believing me when I say it's <v Speaker 1>coming out next year. <v Speaker 2>We'll see, but also grub like, please this if you <v Speaker 2>are not necessarily into tactics games, or maybe you go <v Speaker 2>to JRPG's specifically, specifically for the story, this is one <v Speaker 2>of the ones to check out. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, but it still has like just top tier tactics game. <v Speaker 2>Yes, yeah, you will spend time in menus for sure, <v Speaker 2>and for me that is incredibly entertaining and enticing. For <v Speaker 2>other people, I understand that the tactics genre in terms <v Speaker 2>of tiles has shifted away to something more speedy, like <v Speaker 2>Tactical Breach, Wizards into the Breach, even Deskaya, and this <v Speaker 2>is a little bit more of that old flavor of <v Speaker 2>like moving dudes and choosing where they face afterwards. <v Speaker 1>Yep, all right, I yeah, man, too many games, but <v Speaker 1>this is when I'm gonna get on switch to and <v Speaker 1>all always give it a shot and take it from there. <v Speaker 3>It's out. <v Speaker 1>That's out September thirtieth, everybody, So yeah, early reviews. <v Speaker 3>You'll be able to get it next week. <v Speaker 2>We'll put out a quick look guys. <v Speaker 3>Yep, looking forward to it. Days before release. <v Speaker 1>Borderlands four is indefinitely delayed on switch to, So some <v Speaker 1>games getting reviews are the games getting delayed. <v Speaker 3>This is from Andy Robinson at VGC. <v Speaker 1>Gearbox has indefinitely delayed the release of Borderlands four on <v Speaker 1>Nintendo switch to, just one week ahead of its planned <v Speaker 1>October third release date. Announcing the news on social media, <v Speaker 1>the developer said it had decided the switch to version <v Speaker 1>needs additional development time and that it does not take <v Speaker 1>the decision lightly. It did not provide an explanation for <v Speaker 1>why the decision has been made so close to the <v Speaker 1>switch to versions planned release, but it does say all <v Speaker 1>digital pre orders will now be canceled in accordance with <v Speaker 1>Nintendo E Shop policy. And then they basically there's a <v Speaker 1>quote here that just says we need to delay it. <v Speaker 1>And again they didn't say why. I bet it's the performance, Jim. <v Speaker 1>This thing runs poorly everywhere in one way or another. <v Speaker 1>I guess again, you know, to be fair, I haven't <v Speaker 1>heard anything bad about the Xbox version, but who knows. <v Speaker 1>It probably also has issues and we just haven't heard <v Speaker 1>about it, and maybe no one's playing that version. The <v Speaker 1>PC version is dog do dooo. The PS five version <v Speaker 1>had a bad memory leak, and they probably need to <v Speaker 1>focus on that PC version and get that one tightened <v Speaker 1>up before they can put a lot of resources into <v Speaker 1>getting the switch To one up and running in a <v Speaker 1>decent way. Because based on previews of people who have <v Speaker 1>tried this at like certain shows, I think maybe there <v Speaker 1>was a packs where the people were playing it on <v Speaker 1>switch To it was real bad. Now we've seen that, <v Speaker 1>we've seen that not be a problem before. That happened <v Speaker 1>with Outlaws right out Star Wars. Outlaws was running really <v Speaker 1>bad at a show I think games Come, and then <v Speaker 1>like a week later it was out and everyone was <v Speaker 1>playing it and it was the best port the switch <v Speaker 1>To has really seen of that type so far. <v Speaker 3>I don't think Borderlands four was on that track though. <v Speaker 2>No, I mean grub if like like you would alluded to. <v Speaker 2>If the game is running poorly on virtually everything else, <v Speaker 2>I can't imagine that the switch to out of all <v Speaker 2>the ports would be smooth. Right. <v Speaker 1>While this is a Borderlands four problem, a gearbox problem, <v Speaker 1>the switch To being a portable handheld system is not. <v Speaker 3>That's not going to. <v Speaker 1>Help the situation. It's only going to make it worse. <v Speaker 1>It's gonna exacerbate it. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean, we saw the hit Man ports having <v Speaker 2>a lot of trouble there, but you see something like <v Speaker 2>Star Wars Outlaws and the Cyberpunk port and those are <v Speaker 2>very positively received ports of those games, and those are <v Speaker 2>big games too, Grub. It's uh, I don't know. I <v Speaker 2>kind of want to see what Randy would say. <v Speaker 3>He's said anything about this. <v Speaker 1>I kind of if it had come out, I wonder <v Speaker 1>what he would have said to people who started complaining <v Speaker 1>about it, get a premium handheld or something, as if <v Speaker 1>there's another option. <v Speaker 2>For I don't know for Randy. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, so Borderlands for new release date for the Switch <v Speaker 1>Too three isn't one. It's indefinitely delayed. Well, we'll see <v Speaker 1>what happens here. You know, Mike asked me this. I <v Speaker 1>so I'll ask you when we were when I was <v Speaker 1>talking to him about it. Do you think this is <v Speaker 1>a sign for like a negative or pause well negative <v Speaker 1>for Switch to Do you think this is an indication <v Speaker 1>of what other developers are going to encounter or do <v Speaker 1>you think it's more of a Borderlands for I think it's. <v Speaker 2>More of a Borderlands problem Grub And Uh, correct me <v Speaker 2>if I'm wrong. But I believe a lot of developers <v Speaker 2>didn't get as much time with switch to dev kits <v Speaker 2>as they would have liked to, and the lead up <v Speaker 2>process it's. <v Speaker 3>A crap shoot. Like some did many did not, though. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, so I can't imagine that. I don't think this <v Speaker 2>is an indicator that the switch to is going to <v Speaker 2>be dog doo dooo. But you see success stories like <v Speaker 2>Star Wars Outlaws, and I think the longer that the <v Speaker 2>switch tow is out, the better the ports will be <v Speaker 2>in the future. Something I I'm interested in seeing how <v Speaker 2>it performs further down the line, or the final Fantasy <v Speaker 2>seven remakes. That second one is a big beefy game <v Speaker 2>since it is more open world than the first one, <v Speaker 2>so I'm very curious scrub as to what that will <v Speaker 2>look like and perform. <v Speaker 1>All right, well we're going to actually let's do this <v Speaker 1>next story and then we'll take a break. Super Giant <v Speaker 1>confirmed Switch a physical addition. <v Speaker 3>This is kind of a quick update. <v Speaker 1>Hey, a physical edition of eighty two is coming on <v Speaker 1>November twentieth. This is from the Super Giant Games account <v Speaker 1>on Twitter. It will include both the Nintendo Switch to <v Speaker 1>and switch versions of the game on a standard game card. <v Speaker 3>It will all be on the card. <v Speaker 1>It also includes a full color character compendium, booklet, soundtrack, <v Speaker 1>download code. <v Speaker 3>And reversible cover. <v Speaker 1>It is going to be I believe, fifty dollars, so <v Speaker 1>it's a little bit. It is more expensive than what <v Speaker 1>the game should be once it goes into one point zero, <v Speaker 1>which I think is when it jumps from. <v Speaker 3>Thirty to forty dollars. <v Speaker 1>I want to say, but yeah, they are are promising <v Speaker 1>quite a bit of extra stuff in here and giving <v Speaker 1>you the whole game on the card. So the premium <v Speaker 1>price to put to use one of those sixty four <v Speaker 1>gigabyte cards. I do think most people who are interested <v Speaker 1>in buying physical games on Switch, who have said negative <v Speaker 1>things about the game key cards, have mostly accepted the <v Speaker 1>idea of paying a little bit extra to get the <v Speaker 1>game on the card. It stinks that that's the way <v Speaker 1>it works, But this, I think this is people. What <v Speaker 1>is giving people what they want, and I do think <v Speaker 1>Hades two will be rewarded for doing so, especially on <v Speaker 1>the Switch. <v Speaker 2>What do you think, greb This Haites two, I feel <v Speaker 2>like is going to be positively received across audiences, no <v Speaker 2>matter what hurdles folks have to jump through. It's great <v Speaker 2>to see super giant I know that Super Giant has <v Speaker 2>been a team that has been around for quite a <v Speaker 2>while now, which it feels weird to say, but love <v Speaker 2>seeing support for physical releases with Haites two. That being said, <v Speaker 2>Oh god, grab, I think the Haites two review embargo <v Speaker 2>us dropped as well as I saw folks saying that <v Speaker 2>it's at like ninety something on Open Critic. <v Speaker 3>Yes, wait, wait, Haities two, the reviews are out? <v Speaker 2>Is that what you said? <v Speaker 1>Yes, I was trying to check the price of the game. <v Speaker 1>Double check that. Let's take a look. You know, you know, <v Speaker 1>it's been an early access on Steam where it's been <v Speaker 1>overwhelmingly positive for a long time. <v Speaker 2>Let's take a look here, google ninety three on Open. <v Speaker 1>Critic, Haightes two Open Critic. All right, let's take a <v Speaker 1>look Haities two reviews. How many have we gotten so far? <v Speaker 2>Oh? <v Speaker 3>Okay, the thirty five? All right, it's got a ninety two. <v Speaker 3>Oh boy, geezy crazy? All right, So let's hit this <v Speaker 3>real quick. <v Speaker 1>It is ranked in the one hundred one hundred percent <v Speaker 1>tile of games scored on Open Critic with a ninety two. <v Speaker 1>Zick Lou at RPG Fan gave it a ninety says <v Speaker 1>if Hades is action. Haities two is Precision Are to <v Speaker 1>Dawn gave it a ten at game grants at. Haites <v Speaker 1>two builds on everything that the original had and manages <v Speaker 1>to double the content while still keeping it super giant <v Speaker 1>or super giant games feel it has unrivaled roguelight elements <v Speaker 1>that prioritize this players scale over randomization, and content of <v Speaker 1>plenty that you won't be left one team for more. <v Speaker 3>Hey, Jane, I've been playing this game. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, beat, I well, I've been been playing this case. <v Speaker 1>Yes, you know I was. I checked my timer. I <v Speaker 1>had about three hours in the early access version. Always <v Speaker 1>wanted to spend more time. You did spend quite a <v Speaker 1>bit more time. So you've been tracking this game and <v Speaker 1>now we are playing the final build. <v Speaker 3>How are you feeling about it? <v Speaker 2>I think I put about sixty hours in and that <v Speaker 2>was before like the most recent substantial update I had. Okay, <v Speaker 2>stopped playing the game maybe around like November of last year, <v Speaker 2>I want to say, But the changes from that point <v Speaker 2>when I was in early access to now, wow, they <v Speaker 2>polished that thing right up. Grub. It is definitely going <v Speaker 2>to be an adjustment, initial adjustment for people's muscle memory <v Speaker 2>from eighties one the two. <v Speaker 1>Got a different it's got a different heartbeat, it's got <v Speaker 1>a different rhythm, a different sort of beats per minute. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, but the character, the relationship between characters is all <v Speaker 2>still there. The different worlds and everything. The boons are <v Speaker 2>are going to be different because Milinae is a completely <v Speaker 2>different character from Zagrias. Uh. But the twists and turns <v Speaker 2>through the story grub are so fucking baller. And I <v Speaker 2>think I've been saying this, but for anyone that may <v Speaker 2>have bounced off of Silk Song because of the difficulty <v Speaker 2>and maybe that just wasn't for them, this is going <v Speaker 2>to be for you. <v Speaker 1>And I think, hey, what did no one in fantasy <v Speaker 1>critics take Hades two? <v Speaker 2>I think, no, that can't be right. Did I take it? <v Speaker 3>I'm a search here eighties two as a score? <v Speaker 2>Yeah, it wasn't eligible, the commissioners saying it was eligible. <v Speaker 3>Oh it wasn't. <v Speaker 1>Okay, interesting, right, because the early access reviews probably would <v Speaker 1>have already floors got it right, right, right, right? Okay, Well, <v Speaker 1>it's it's doing very well. It sounds like it's gonna <v Speaker 1>do even better because the apparently GameSpot i Gan's reviews <v Speaker 1>went from nine to tens for one point zero and <v Speaker 1>that hasn't been updated on an open critic yet. <v Speaker 2>So hey, for anyone asking if this game is any <v Speaker 2>more or less hornier than the original, you can go <v Speaker 2>into a hot tub with people in this one, so <v Speaker 2>leave it at that. <v Speaker 1>The hot tub in the hot tubs in indie games <v Speaker 1>is a fun thing. The hot tub in Silk Song <v Speaker 1>is one of the funnier moments in that game. <v Speaker 2>That is a oh this might be okay game of <v Speaker 2>the year category. Put it. Write it down now, folks, <v Speaker 2>best hot tub slash hot Spring. <v Speaker 1>There's at least three. Yeah, there's at least three. There's <v Speaker 1>and Silksong has both. I bet Had says both. I <v Speaker 1>think Haites says both as well. Yeah, Haites is just <v Speaker 1>a it's something special. They I think what they did <v Speaker 1>is they're so smart over at super Giant for the <v Speaker 1>first game, They're like, Okay, we have rogue light elements. <v Speaker 1>We want to make a rogue light. How do we <v Speaker 1>encourage people who are skeptical of rogue lights to try this? <v Speaker 1>We say, oh, there is a continuous story. It is <v Speaker 1>a linear story. So if you get hooked by that stuff, <v Speaker 1>maybe you'll maybe the pain that you feel when you <v Speaker 1>play a rogue light will be lessened. This one is <v Speaker 1>like everything we do outside of the rogue light, outside <v Speaker 1>of the like starting a run over again, is going <v Speaker 1>to be the friendliest, most kind, most generous not never <v Speaker 1>waste your time mechanic you've ever seen in a video game. <v Speaker 1>To make a point here that we look, we respect <v Speaker 1>you as the player, Isn't it clear? So if you <v Speaker 1>are still skeptical of the rogue light side of things, <v Speaker 1>can't you just trust us that, look at what we <v Speaker 1>do for you in every other aspect of this game, <v Speaker 1>trust us that the rogue light side of it, of <v Speaker 1>doing a run is also worth your time. We believe <v Speaker 1>that we're the designers. We do all this other stuff <v Speaker 1>to prove that. Trust us on this, and it's the <v Speaker 1>one of the friendliest games I've ever played. It is <v Speaker 1>insane how encouraging it is to like just keep you <v Speaker 1>in the loop. I'm blown away. It's really well done. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, there there is something to do in progress to <v Speaker 2>meet to be made in virtually every single run. No <v Speaker 2>matter how far you get grub like, you're always going <v Speaker 2>to get a new kernel of information of story or <v Speaker 2>of like progress leveling of something, resource gathering, growing, plants there. <v Speaker 2>I can see some people having some initial frustration with <v Speaker 2>the ramp up to. <v Speaker 1>It maybe, but there's also a chance, like in the <v Speaker 1>first five runs, you'll get an insanely strong build. <v Speaker 3>That's what happened to Sean. <v Speaker 1>You got the chronos like right away, which is not <v Speaker 1>even close to being the end of the game. <v Speaker 3>He and it is. <v Speaker 1>And he's someone who didn't like Katie's won all that <v Speaker 1>much and hates too. He played like you say, you <v Speaker 1>play like eleven hours on a first day of playing it. <v Speaker 3>He couldn't stop beautiful things. This thing's gonna pop off. <v Speaker 2>Also also gang go up? <v Speaker 3>Yeah, and I it's like that is that a spoiler? <v Speaker 1>No, they just have a door there that says go up, <v Speaker 1>and it's like, okay, hell yeah, let's go all right, <v Speaker 1>let's take that break. <v Speaker 3>I got this hey Dude's shirt. Jan Yeah. It's an <v Speaker 3>old Nickelodeon show. <v Speaker 1>And I realizing like I was a little bit more <v Speaker 1>of a Nickelodeon kid than I was ever like a <v Speaker 1>Disney person in my life, and I want to like <v Speaker 1>own that. <v Speaker 3>I want to show the kids. Are you afraid of <v Speaker 3>the dark? Have you ever watched that? Oh? <v Speaker 2>Yeah? Oh yeah, I think I watched it at like <v Speaker 2>five six, so like in between the gas age. <v Speaker 1>Right, there's six and eight now steps out of town <v Speaker 1>tonight and tomorrow. It's probably a bad idea to show <v Speaker 1>it to him tonight, right, I might do it anyhow. <v Speaker 2>I was gonna say, maybe both parents should be around <v Speaker 2>the one. <v Speaker 1>The six year old's pretty easily frightened, so maybe I'll wait. <v Speaker 2>But that being said, I watched them by myself growing <v Speaker 2>up because I was an old So I'm mostly fine now. <v Speaker 1>And I'm gonna we'll see. I'll report back everybody, all right. <v Speaker 1>If you want to skip out on this. For the <v Speaker 1>audio version of the show, you go to giant bomb <v Speaker 1>dot com, slash Join, become a premium member. <v Speaker 3>Get that there. We'll be right back. <v Speaker 2>All right, we are back. <v Speaker 3>It's Game Best Mornings. Jeff Grubb, Jiannachoa. <v Speaker 1>We're getting right back into the headlines here with Yakuza News. <v Speaker 3>This is a Tokyo game show news. There is a <v Speaker 3>bunch of. <v Speaker 1>You know, showcases and developers, you know, hockeying their wares <v Speaker 1>in various video formats. The team Rio Ga Gotoku had <v Speaker 1>theirs and they had a lot to say, including Yakuza <v Speaker 1>Kwami three, a remake of Yakuza three. <v Speaker 3>Being officially announced. <v Speaker 1>This is from Chris going at VGC and shouts out <v Speaker 1>to VGC who we got a lot of our stories <v Speaker 1>from today. They have a Patreon. Everyone should go support that. <v Speaker 1>It is uh they and they actually start here with <v Speaker 1>an update where they say it. It's now been confirmed <v Speaker 1>that the game will release on February twelfth, twenty twenty <v Speaker 1>six on PS five, Xbox Series X and S switch <v Speaker 1>to PS four and PC. <v Speaker 3>The esteem announced. <v Speaker 1>During the developer's latest RGG Summit presentation. Yakuza Kawami three <v Speaker 1>will remake the two thousand and nine action adventure game <v Speaker 1>originally released on PlayStation three. Much like the previous remakes <v Speaker 1>Yakuza Kawami and Kwami two, which we're released in twenty <v Speaker 1>sixteen to twenty seventeen, respectively, Kawami three will feature greatly <v Speaker 1>improved visuals and new gameplay features. This will include added <v Speaker 1>story scenes, as well as a brand new spinoff adventure <v Speaker 1>called Yakuza three Guide in Dark Ties. We'll talk about <v Speaker 1>that more here in a second. Yes, and it's the <v Speaker 1>here we have switch to PS four PC as well <v Speaker 1>as the current gen consoles on February twelve. You know, <v Speaker 1>it took him a while to get back to kawam <v Speaker 1>after doing one and two, but I think the fans <v Speaker 1>were always like, yeah, we get it. The first of <v Speaker 1>all three, I think is a little bit less revered <v Speaker 1>than the rest. <v Speaker 3>I could be wrong on that. <v Speaker 1>I like mix up these franchises in my head, like <v Speaker 1>which ones people like and don't like. But also they <v Speaker 1>were I think they were going up from in quality <v Speaker 1>back then in terms of or like graphical fidelity. I <v Speaker 1>think they put a little bit more work into the <v Speaker 1>third one, and so like, yeah, focus on one and <v Speaker 1>two and in a few years reload and come back <v Speaker 1>with Kwami three. Maybe it took a little bit longer <v Speaker 1>than they were expecting, almost a whole decade, But at <v Speaker 1>this point it makes more sense than ever because Yakaza <v Speaker 1>and Like a Dragon are after the peak of their power, <v Speaker 1>and I think there is every reason to think anytime <v Speaker 1>one of these comes out at this point, and with <v Speaker 1>Yakuza zero being right there and we'll talk about there <v Speaker 1>a little bit news with that as well, that it <v Speaker 1>creates a new opportunity for people to say it is <v Speaker 1>time for me to get into this franchise and it <v Speaker 1>just keeps growing. It gets bigger every single time. It's <v Speaker 1>not like people drop out of it. Once you become <v Speaker 1>a like a Dragon fan, it seems like you are <v Speaker 1>one for life. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, one hundred percent, Greb. There are so many different <v Speaker 2>entry points that I can understand folks being intimidated to, <v Speaker 2>and the like Dragon series were perfect entry points to <v Speaker 2>get into the whole franchise. But the Kawami games specifically <v Speaker 2>are great, great on ramps into it. I never played three, <v Speaker 2>but I'm excited to check it out. Also, RGG will <v Speaker 2>not let cure you rest. Let this man walk right <v Speaker 2>off into the distance. <v Speaker 1>It's you know, it's intimidating that have so many games <v Speaker 1>in a series, especially one that I you know, I've <v Speaker 1>played a few now, but I've not played a lot <v Speaker 1>of the older ones, and I've tried Zero a couple <v Speaker 1>of times. And yet despite it being intimidated because there's <v Speaker 1>so many entries and so many newer entries and they <v Speaker 1>keep adding spinoffs, something about the way that they curate <v Speaker 1>and cure and care for and sort of tend to <v Speaker 1>this franchise makes it feel more welcoming of like, if <v Speaker 1>I get on board, I know I'm not gonna be <v Speaker 1>wasting my time. I know Sega is going to follow <v Speaker 1>this up and my fandom will be rewarded. And that's <v Speaker 1>there's something to be said for them sort of figuring <v Speaker 1>that out and unlocking it in a inefficient and affordable way. <v Speaker 1>The franchise where they just are very smart about how <v Speaker 1>they use the resources and reuse resources and assets, and <v Speaker 1>I just I continue to love to see it. <v Speaker 3>It's it's a franchise that deserves to be praised. <v Speaker 2>GG they seem like very smart and efficient developers grub <v Speaker 2>and exactly. It doesn't even feel like reusing assets. It's <v Speaker 2>just like, oh, well you have this tool set, just <v Speaker 2>tell another story in this. If anything, I'd be curious <v Speaker 2>if they ever want to give the Kawamie treatment to <v Speaker 2>the Judgment games, because I've always been curious about those <v Speaker 2>games specifically. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, you know, it's like that first Judgment is maybe <v Speaker 1>getting a touch older now. It's not like Kwami three <v Speaker 1>here where they people in chatter now help them clarify <v Speaker 1>and illustrating exactly the issue. <v Speaker 3>It just feels old is what a lot of people <v Speaker 3>are saying. <v Speaker 1>It's got a great setting, great characters, but it feels older. <v Speaker 1>So it was, it's difficult to go back to Kawami <v Speaker 1>should just directly address those issues. I bad Judgment would <v Speaker 1>be a game that they wouldn't have to do much <v Speaker 1>to to make it feel modern in a lot of ways. <v Speaker 1>But you're right, like anytime that they could spruce those up, <v Speaker 1>maybe do a Judgment double pack or something like that, <v Speaker 1>where with some updates, I would use that as an <v Speaker 1>excuse to reconsider playing those games, which I have never <v Speaker 1>touched before. And I've always been curious the idea of <v Speaker 1>being a lawyer and all that stuff. <v Speaker 2>Our friends at hard drive dot net just or posted <v Speaker 2>a while ago that every game needs a hangman Adam Paige, <v Speaker 2>and hangman Adam Page is an aw wrestler, but he's <v Speaker 2>the sad millennial cowboy we all aspire to be. I <v Speaker 2>think Kirau is in that socialist budy. Oh fuck yah <v Speaker 2>also a former teacher pay teacher's more. Hangman Adam Page <v Speaker 2>and Kiriu would one hundred percent grab a drink together. <v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, okay, yes, and they should do that eventually <v Speaker 1>because there's been a lot of wrestlers in those games. <v Speaker 3>They should make that happen. <v Speaker 1>Uh, Like we said, yeah, because three Guide It Dark <v Speaker 1>Ties is a brand new spinoff starring antagonist of mine <v Speaker 1>or probably mine, that will be included in Kawami three. <v Speaker 1>This is from Chris Sculling of VGC as well. Rio <v Speaker 1>got Gotoku Studio has confirmed a separate Yakuza three spinoff <v Speaker 1>games starring antagonist Yoshi Taka Mayne. Yakuza three Guide In <v Speaker 1>Dark Ties will be included with the upcoming Yakuza Kawami three, <v Speaker 1>and players will be able to choose between both games <v Speaker 1>upon booting the software, so you'll be able to do <v Speaker 1>you don't have to like do anything in the game. <v Speaker 1>It's just gonna be there. It's a whole separate game. This, <v Speaker 1>I mean, this is an example of it. Like this <v Speaker 1>is really wild stuff. Like they are doing a new <v Speaker 1>spinoff like that, Like they just did one earlier this year, <v Speaker 1>Private Yakiza in Hawaii was this year, right, and so <v Speaker 1>they just announced the new one that's coming out early <v Speaker 1>next year. They are hitting a game per year, cadence, <v Speaker 1>and I you know, you could say this is a <v Speaker 1>side game, a guide in a side story, something smaller. <v Speaker 3>But we'll see. <v Speaker 1>I bet it's going to be at least ten hours, <v Speaker 1>which is you know about the length some of these games, <v Speaker 1>I don't know. I find this to be incredible that <v Speaker 1>even here where it's like they could have just done <v Speaker 1>Kawami three on its own, they are still using that <v Speaker 1>as a reason to do even more, to create more <v Speaker 1>value for people who want to buy this, but also <v Speaker 1>probably to set up some future interaction with this character <v Speaker 1>or something else. And yeah, I think again that just <v Speaker 1>shows how smart they. <v Speaker 2>Are one hundred percent grub. I may not have the <v Speaker 2>time to check out every single release that they put out, <v Speaker 2>but if they decide to make a couple more bite <v Speaker 2>sized adventures like Pirate Yakuza, I don't know, throw throw <v Speaker 2>Monjum into space, let's just do that. I would play <v Speaker 2>if they wanted to. And I guess for folks that <v Speaker 2>haven't checked it out, Promise Mascot Agency is basically all <v Speaker 2>of the Yakuza mini games. <v Speaker 3>People said I have to try that. They said, I <v Speaker 3>would really like that, and that sounds awesome. <v Speaker 2>It is kind of that sim ish stuff that you <v Speaker 2>jive well with Grub. But if the RGG just wanted <v Speaker 2>to make like Yo hook me up with a multiplayer <v Speaker 2>majong game, your boy would be their day one God that. <v Speaker 1>Could be their their card game, the way like Witcher <v Speaker 1>three got its card game or whatever. <v Speaker 3>Just Majong. That would be fun. <v Speaker 2>The kids demand Majong. <v Speaker 1>They're out there in the streets just constantly yelling about it. It's <v Speaker 1>they go six, seven and then Majong. <v Speaker 3>It's crazy. Yaka Is zero Director's Cut. <v Speaker 1>Yakuza Kawami and Yakuza Kawami two are coming to PS <v Speaker 1>five and Xbox Series X and S. <v Speaker 3>This is when Chris calling at VGC. You know. The <v Speaker 3>story is they're getting native versions. <v Speaker 1>These games are already playable in these devices through backward compatibility, <v Speaker 1>probably in a really strong state. <v Speaker 3>But you know, a native version can't hurt. <v Speaker 1>You'll probably get even more benefits to the visuals, an <v Speaker 1>even higher frame rate and all that stuff. And really <v Speaker 1>it's just about a person saying that, hey, now I <v Speaker 1>can get all of these games on on one device. <v Speaker 1>Maybe I could get the PS five box or whatever <v Speaker 1>for Yakuza zero and again start this franchise fresh, either <v Speaker 1>from the beginning or with the latest release jan That <v Speaker 1>is gonna be the poll question today. <v Speaker 3>We'll do a little tease right now. <v Speaker 1>I want to just ask you, now, when you look <v Speaker 1>at a franchise that's been long running like this. Are <v Speaker 1>you more likely to say, Okay, I'm gonna go back <v Speaker 1>to the first one or the stated entry point like <v Speaker 1>Yakuza zero, or are you more likely to just to <v Speaker 1>jump on the latest sequel and then maybe go back <v Speaker 1>if you're really one over? <v Speaker 2>Oh well it's in. It's interesting with Yakuza because I <v Speaker 2>feel like RGG has craftily developed a lot of different <v Speaker 2>entry points into the franchise. But then you look at <v Speaker 2>something like Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy, and that it <v Speaker 2>becomes a harder ask because at some point the games <v Speaker 2>just are completely different. Well they are all completely different <v Speaker 2>from each other, so it's and there is no through <v Speaker 2>line with the story from game to game for the <v Speaker 2>most part. With if we're only looking at the Yakuza series, <v Speaker 2>I would probably go with zero or with the completely new, <v Speaker 2>different style of game, like like a Dragon, right. <v Speaker 3>Right, a new obvious entry point. Good point. <v Speaker 1>Okay, Yeah, I was happy to I did play a <v Speaker 1>lot of Yakuza seven like a Dragon, but it really <v Speaker 1>was like a Dragon Infinite Wealth. It was really my <v Speaker 1>first one that I super got into and finished it. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, and now I'm. <v Speaker 1>Like, okay, I will at some point go play Yakaza Zero. <v Speaker 1>Mike keeps talking about after it gets done with this <v Speaker 1>from soft catchup and stuff like that, streaming the Yakuza <v Speaker 1>games from the beginning, and I think that would just be. <v Speaker 3>Such a good time, all right. <v Speaker 1>Pregmata gets a new gameplay trailer, but still no release <v Speaker 1>date from Chris Goaling at VGC. <v Speaker 3>Really, as far as we're going here. <v Speaker 1>With an audio podcast, we won't talk too much about <v Speaker 1>the trailer, although continues to look really good, but they <v Speaker 1>are giving the vague twenty twenty six release window, and <v Speaker 1>that's it. Does this feel like a first half of <v Speaker 1>next year game to you? Because it was feeling that <v Speaker 1>way to me and now I'm not so sure. <v Speaker 2>Ah, I don't know. Grub twenty twenty six feels so <v Speaker 2>far away, and in terms of trying to like though <v Speaker 2>it's not, but in terms of trying to place on <v Speaker 2>the calendar where things are supposed to be dropping around, <v Speaker 2>just because we have a flood of games in this <v Speaker 2>last half of twenty twenty five, I could see them <v Speaker 2>pushing this off and kind of like skirting away from <v Speaker 2>early twenty twenty six. But there is that other game <v Speaker 2>that they've been working on as well. I forget the <v Speaker 2>name of it. It's like nineteen twenties, nineteen thirties Japan. <v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, Project Century, like a Heaven, like a Virgin, <v Speaker 1>something like that. <v Speaker 2>Touched for the very first time. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, touch for the very first time. As the subtitle, Yeah, <v Speaker 1>stranger than Stranger than Heaven. We're never gonna remember that. <v Speaker 1>I'd refuse to actually commit it to memory. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, that one. That one feels like a little bit <v Speaker 3>further off. <v Speaker 1>GTA six, I'm sure is still giving a lot of <v Speaker 1>these companies of penn x. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, so I would guess. <v Speaker 1>That pragmat does come out in the first half of <v Speaker 1>next year to avoid that. <v Speaker 2>I forget. When is GTA six supposed to come. <v Speaker 1>Out May twenty six, twenty twenty six, Will Secott, Yeah, <v Speaker 1>oh yeah, yeah, you got some time still, although I <v Speaker 1>bet I get it. I think it's going to get <v Speaker 1>delayed to fall. <v Speaker 2>We should just get really into, really get into and <v Speaker 2>invest so much time and money into GTA online now. <v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, yeah, that's that's the move. Yeah, that'll pay dividends. <v Speaker 1>That stuff's gonna be worth a lot more here in <v Speaker 1>a few weeks, all right. The latest Mario Kart World <v Speaker 1>update makes tracking its open World collectibles easier. This is <v Speaker 1>from Jordan Midler at VGC. A new update for Mario <v Speaker 1>Kart World has been released which adds a much requested <v Speaker 1>feature to the game's open world exploration. According to the <v Speaker 1>version one point three points zero patch notes, Mario Kart <v Speaker 1>World's map will now show the locations of peace switches <v Speaker 1>and peach medallions on the endgame map, but rather than <v Speaker 1>showing them all however, it merely shows the ones players <v Speaker 1>have already collected, meaning they'll still have to explore to <v Speaker 1>find new ones. Hey, you know, I guess I get that. <v Speaker 1>It's like, you know, you want to you can like <v Speaker 1>avoid areas if you already found one there, and you're like, <v Speaker 1>go look for the gaps in the map. I guess, <v Speaker 1>and I do get the sense that this open world <v Speaker 1>Nintendo viewed it in such a different way than I <v Speaker 1>was viewing it. I'm like, I want to spend hours <v Speaker 1>in that open world, you know, completing quests and doing <v Speaker 1>burnout Paradise style like racing who can see who can <v Speaker 1>go the fastest down this one road or whatever. It <v Speaker 1>doesn't have any of that. This is about wasting time <v Speaker 1>between online matches. This is about Hey, you join your <v Speaker 1>friends and they just started a long race, and you <v Speaker 1>have ten to fifteen minutes to burn, and we're gonna <v Speaker 1>give you an open world where you can go do <v Speaker 1>some fun stuff here or there a little bit. And <v Speaker 1>I think they still want you to kind of treat <v Speaker 1>it that way. I think they are wrong. I think <v Speaker 1>that's one of the problems with the game is that <v Speaker 1>Nintendo had a different idea of what most people wanted <v Speaker 1>from this, and they have done it difficult, or they <v Speaker 1>done a poor job of a kind of explaining their <v Speaker 1>vision or making their vision more enticing than what people <v Speaker 1>actually wanted. But this will help a little bit, although <v Speaker 1>I don't think I have any urge to go and <v Speaker 1>find the remaining peach medallions. <v Speaker 3>Jan, how about you? <v Speaker 2>No. When Dan and I went out to Nintendo to <v Speaker 2>check out the switch To and Mario Kart World Tour, <v Speaker 2>we were both initially very jazz and excited about the <v Speaker 2>open world aspect of this game. Yeah, of course, and <v Speaker 2>then the game came out and then we kind of <v Speaker 2>all saw how barren it was. And I think this <v Speaker 2>does speak to the dissonance that Nintendo has with what <v Speaker 2>its audience wants. Sometimes maybe not even its audience, but <v Speaker 2>the general gaming audience may want and we talked about <v Speaker 2>it a lot yesterday on the BombCast, but Skate four <v Speaker 2>or lower skate part of the appeal is just the <v Speaker 2>goofy stuff that you can wind up getting into in <v Speaker 2>the open world, and that has also become like a <v Speaker 2>social hub for people as well. Of like you see <v Speaker 2>a lot of players concentrated in an area, so you <v Speaker 2>want to go check out what they're doing, and then <v Speaker 2>you wind up spending a good like hour two hours <v Speaker 2>trying to nail a trick or get into other shenanigans <v Speaker 2>around there. And that's when Mario Kart World is missing, <v Speaker 2>and I can't necessarily bring myself to go collect peach <v Speaker 2>medallions or fine piece which is grub. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, you know, I will do it in between matches <v Speaker 1>if we were to play online for ten minutes, maybe, <v Speaker 1>but it will not be. This is not gonna get <v Speaker 1>me back in there to check it out. But still, <v Speaker 1>you know, I do feel like they are slowly sort <v Speaker 1>of responding to the criticisms, and I bet in a <v Speaker 1>year or two, this thing's gonna get some sort of <v Speaker 1>big dealc or update that has just grand pri mode <v Speaker 1>as part of that and it'll feel like a very <v Speaker 1>different game, and then eight years from now we'll probably <v Speaker 1>still be playing it. <v Speaker 3>Like, remember the way this game launched, Remember how different <v Speaker 3>I was. I bet that is the arc that we're <v Speaker 3>on here for this game. <v Speaker 1>All right, last headline here, Avatar Frontiers of Pandora. Remember <v Speaker 1>that game it's getting It's from the Ashes expansion coming <v Speaker 1>on December nineteenth. Now that is a fortuitous date, Jan <v Speaker 1>you know what happens on that day. <v Speaker 2>I don't know why. I was going to say world <v Speaker 2>War two. <v Speaker 3>World World War two HD. It's back and in four <v Speaker 3>K this time. <v Speaker 1>No, that's the day that Avatar the yeah, the Fire <v Speaker 1>and Ashes. What's the new movie whatever? The third Avatar <v Speaker 1>movie is coming out that day. So this is them <v Speaker 1>being like, hey, let's put out new content. Tie it <v Speaker 1>into that movie, you know, make sure that this is <v Speaker 1>in a really good state and see if we can <v Speaker 1>if we can't capitalize on the excitement for that movie. <v Speaker 1>This was a fine game. It was I enjoyed what <v Speaker 1>I played of it. It's it's an open world Avatar game. <v Speaker 1>It's not perfect, but it's I don't know, I thought <v Speaker 1>it was okay, and I'd be willing to see some <v Speaker 1>new content, or to see the upt least the updated <v Speaker 1>version and maybe actually go back and finish that campaign. <v Speaker 1>They are adding new stuff as well. Third person mode, <v Speaker 1>which is something a lot of people are asking for now. <v Speaker 1>I think that's for Cowards its first person game play. <v Speaker 1>Play a first person game in first person, but a <v Speaker 1>lot of people just don't like that. <v Speaker 3>I get it. <v Speaker 1>This will help with that and people will feel more <v Speaker 1>immersed because that's what they want from a video game, <v Speaker 1>and you'd be soft just responding to that. I think <v Speaker 1>that's this is probably the trend that we will see <v Speaker 1>a lot more of Jane of games that are made <v Speaker 1>to be first person or third person, just giving you <v Speaker 1>the option to do the other one, because at the <v Speaker 1>end of the day, why not. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. I mean we're seeing that with Resident Evil Requiem, <v Speaker 2>and I enjoy the ability to switch between first or <v Speaker 2>third person. Either way, I'm still scared poopless, so that's <v Speaker 2>not helping me at all. But I guess I don't know. <v Speaker 2>I guess people want to see the navrub, They want <v Speaker 2>to see those they want to see that, they want <v Speaker 2>to see those fiberglass bones in action. <v Speaker 1>You know, I want to see them fire fiberglass bones, <v Speaker 1>naturally occurring carbon fiber action, not fiberglass fiberglass work that <v Speaker 1>would shatter, and then all the fiberglass would get in <v Speaker 1>your eyes. <v Speaker 3>And make Dan go blind. Didn't that happen to him? <v Speaker 1>Once the Expansions, players play as the NAVI Warrior Solec <v Speaker 1>and experience a new story of vengeance and survival set <v Speaker 1>in a section of the Western Frontier that encompasses a <v Speaker 1>ravaged Kinglore Forest and a brand new area and From <v Speaker 1>the Ashes is coming to Xbox Series X and S, <v Speaker 1>PlayStation five, Amazon Luna, and PC via Ubisoft Connected, Steam, <v Speaker 1>and Epic Game Store. The expansion will also be included <v Speaker 1>in a Ubisoft Plus Premium subscription. Yeah, this is a <v Speaker 1>massive entertainment game, just like Star Wars Outlaws. I wonder <v Speaker 1>if they will try to put this out on switch too. <v Speaker 1>They are not saying that at this moment, but maybe <v Speaker 1>this is something. Maybe that's something after they get this <v Speaker 1>version out everywhere, maybe a year later, it does actually <v Speaker 1>show up on switch to if there's enough support for <v Speaker 1>the game and they can sort of justify it from <v Speaker 1>a business perspective. But yeah, I had some like high <v Speaker 1>hopes for the recent slate of movie license games. We've <v Speaker 1>come a long way from the crap that we would <v Speaker 1>get on the nes and the Super Nintendo and the <v Speaker 1>Genesis and really every console sense then where there's just <v Speaker 1>a ton of bad movie license games, and I thought <v Speaker 1>you'd be so often Massive in particular, it was doing <v Speaker 1>some good stuff with this game and the Star Wars <v Speaker 1>Outlaws games. <v Speaker 3>It just it doesn't feel like. <v Speaker 1>A viable model really because these games were they selected <v Speaker 1>these ips with the idea like and they will just <v Speaker 1>have a built in audience. It will sell to that audience, <v Speaker 1>and we're going to reach a certain number no matter what. <v Speaker 1>And that doesn't seem to be true, right right. <v Speaker 2>I I feel like the previous generation of games GREB <v Speaker 2>has kind of soured everyone's taste in expecting a licensed <v Speaker 2>game to be good. And that's unfortunate because you would <v Speaker 2>assume that Star Wars would have a built in audience, <v Speaker 2>or that Avatar would. I think that licensed games stuff <v Speaker 2>has shifted from its own solo individual game to a <v Speaker 2>Fortnite skin. <v Speaker 3>Yes, Fortnite skins and mobile games. Yeah. <v Speaker 2>And that being said, if you were to tell me <v Speaker 2>tomorrow that Jake Suley is now suddenly in Fortnite I <v Speaker 2>would eat that shit up. If you told me I <v Speaker 2>could ride a tool Kun in the ocean of Fortnite, <v Speaker 2>I would be there day zero. <v Speaker 3>Yeah. <v Speaker 1>Do you think the Indiana Jones skin in Fortnite made <v Speaker 1>more money than the Indiana Jones video game? <v Speaker 3>Oh? <v Speaker 2>I don't want to think about that, Rob, because that's. <v Speaker 3>A good game. <v Speaker 1>There's a chance, I know, I know there's a chance <v Speaker 1>though that it definitely did. Boy, that's rough because I <v Speaker 1>just want more video games like that. But how can <v Speaker 1>you justify that when you could just make more money <v Speaker 1>putting out of goddamn skin? All Right, that dusted for <v Speaker 1>the headlines. We have a poll question that we need <v Speaker 1>to catch up on from earlier this week, and of <v Speaker 1>course I have gone away from there, so let me <v Speaker 1>go and type this in here to old the gamer browser. <v Speaker 1>All right, this is from Monday. Which Metal Gear game <v Speaker 1>do you want Konami to remake next? This is our <v Speaker 1>own version of the poll they were running your options <v Speaker 1>or the MSX medal Gear metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear <v Speaker 1>Solid four or Metal Gear Solid Piece Walker. Eleven percent <v Speaker 1>want to see peace Walker. I think we'll probably get <v Speaker 1>that in volume two, not as a remake, but just <v Speaker 1>as a remaster. Then twenty six percent said the MSX <v Speaker 1>metal Gear so one in four people are like, well, yeah, <v Speaker 1>let's go back to that nineteen eighty seven original. Then <v Speaker 1>twenty seven percent said they want to see metal. <v Speaker 3>Gear Solid four. Of course, that would rescue. <v Speaker 1>The game from the PS three where it's exclusive too <v Speaker 1>to this day. And then thirty six percent of people <v Speaker 1>said metal Gear Solid one, which probably is the one <v Speaker 1>they're going to remake next. <v Speaker 2>See you think grub Yeah. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I think so. <v Speaker 1>I think they do one and then two, and then <v Speaker 1>that's the safest, most like biggest bang for their buck move. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'm a bit surprised. I know that this this <v Speaker 2>poll is skewed towards our audience. I would have assumed <v Speaker 2>that metal Gear Solid four would have handily won this <v Speaker 2>pole because out of all of these games we've listed, <v Speaker 2>I think MGS four is the one that I'd be <v Speaker 2>more interested in checking out. <v Speaker 1>Again, Yeah, you know, our audience is an important caveat there, <v Speaker 1>but even still, you know, gaming's grown a lot since <v Speaker 1>nineteen ninety eight, right, and there's a lot more people <v Speaker 1>playing games now than there ever were. And now, of <v Speaker 1>course you could have played this in volume one, but <v Speaker 1>I think a lot of people are just like, yeah, <v Speaker 1>maybe I'll get around to that. I think there's too <v Speaker 1>many people who have not actually played these games, and <v Speaker 1>that's going to be the thing that people say, give <v Speaker 1>me middle Gear Solid one so I can jump on board. <v Speaker 1>And then there's probably gonna be a lot of people <v Speaker 1>who just want to see another new remake of that. <v Speaker 1>Or I think it's the best idea, which. <v Speaker 3>Is you know, thirty six percent of respondence here. That <v Speaker 3>sounds right to me. <v Speaker 2>Britain knocked it out of the park on Monday when <v Speaker 2>y'all put this poll together. We need aciduld. <v Speaker 3>I would just like to see an Acid three. <v Speaker 1>They've did Acid one and two right, just to make <v Speaker 1>a whole new one. <v Speaker 2>Also, there is a old iPod Touch I guess iPod <v Speaker 2>or Apple the mobile game that was set in the <v Speaker 2>world of MGS four that is also pretty freaking sick. <v Speaker 2>I forget what it was called though. <v Speaker 3>Was it a scroll wheel game? <v Speaker 2>He was like that it was like a Sniper Elite basically. Okay, <v Speaker 2>it was like a shooting gallery type of game with <v Speaker 2>solid snake. <v Speaker 3>Hell yeah, all right, new Pole. Question. <v Speaker 1>When you start a long, long running series, do you <v Speaker 1>begin with the first game or jump into the latest sequel. <v Speaker 3>Your options are more likely to. <v Speaker 1>Start from the beginning or more likely to start at <v Speaker 1>the latest. We'll get the results of that. Talk about <v Speaker 1>it on Game mess Mornings. Here on Giant Bomb tomorrow <v Speaker 1>speaking a Giant Bomb jan what do we have in <v Speaker 1>store for the folks? <v Speaker 2>Oh, boy, grub, we got gay. Oh this is Games Mornings. <v Speaker 2>I went into the bomb cast outro there. Later today, <v Speaker 2>Mike Minatti continues his journey through virtual Hideline. Maybe he'll <v Speaker 2>finish it today. So but also we're gonna be talking <v Speaker 2>over the state of play popping off later today voicemail <v Speaker 2>dumb Truck and then unprofessional Fridays where we will be <v Speaker 2>doing a relay race against our friends are kind of funny. <v Speaker 3>I'm uh, I'm looking forward to it. <v Speaker 2>I'm not gonna say people should bet, but but but yeah, <v Speaker 2>we we tested it's a relay race. <v Speaker 1>We're gonna be handing off controllers. Uh, and I tested <v Speaker 1>it out. We got the tech working. It's really handy. <v Speaker 1>It just seems like they might even have thought about <v Speaker 1>this as a possibility. <v Speaker 2>Also, on top of that, Greb, we're yes my power <v Speaker 2>going out yesterday kind of put some production stuff behind <v Speaker 2>BombCast is now up on YouTube, folks. Everyone shouts out <v Speaker 2>to Sean for U worked on Sanday and getting that <v Speaker 2>up there. Thank you, thanks to the Big Doug. And <v Speaker 2>also we're going to still try and record a couple <v Speaker 2>of quick looks this Friday after everything is all said <v Speaker 2>and done. After upf Mike Manati is going to Hades <v Speaker 2>two through the night. The Boy Games Media is going <v Speaker 2>to do a good old marathon stream of Heighties two <v Speaker 2>later this week. <v Speaker 3>I'm looking forward to it, all right, it's only Wednesday. <v Speaker 3>It feels like at Thursday's. <v Speaker 1>I got Jan here, so we got plenty of week <v Speaker 1>left here everybody, We'll be hanging out with you, so <v Speaker 1>be sure to stick around with us in the meantime. Until next time, have <v Speaker 1>a good one, take care of yourself and goodbye. <v Speaker 2>Thanks Sean, congrats Chuck
