Episode 123 - The Alpha Legion pt2, Alph legion take their place amoungst the legions (and irritate all of them in the process)

The 40k Lorecast

On today’s cast we continue our coverage of the Alpha legion. We open with our own theories of what happened to them during the Horus Heresy, did they take different sides, did they go their own path, or maybe they were just weird and ineffective. We then talk about their crazy infiltration during the great crusade and how that set them up for some of their more wild events during the Heresy. Namely the infiltration of the Raven Guard after Isstvan 5, which is absolutely crazy. Then their very odd interaction with the White Scars out in Chondax. And their more direct interaction with the Space wolves in Alaxxes. We then close with Alpharius infiltration the shattered legions.

[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to the Forty K-Lorecast.
[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to Forty Kaylor Cats with me, John Barsadian, Brad Chester.
[SPEAKER_01]: This guy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Today, we're continuing our coverage of the most confusing legion of all alpha legion, because let's just try to figure out of what maybe happens sort of, but then totally if it didn't happen, but also maybe did happen, cast.

[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to do a Rwanda today, guys.
[SPEAKER_01]: Rwanda is a kind of, it's a really special country.
[SPEAKER_01]: Central Africa, exceptionally clean, mostly because it got a number of environmental friendly actions the country took.
[SPEAKER_01]: For example, the last Saturday of every month, everyone goes outside and cleans up.
[SPEAKER_01]: Simple cause, guys, just clean up.
[SPEAKER_01]: They also had a plastic bag band since 2008 that in 2019, they expanded to plastic water bottles, which is wild.
[SPEAKER_01]: believe in their country really, really clean and not having all the garbage pilot that you see in most other countries, not just in Africa, but kind of every single country.
[SPEAKER_01]: Rewanda is visually stunning to rolling hills of forests, but it's like jungle meets forest.
[SPEAKER_01]: And if you like wildlife and you have larger balls than I do to be honest, you can go into those jungles and see mountain gorillas on foot.
[SPEAKER_01]: You can walk in on foot into the habitat of a eight foot tall 400 pound or 2.7 meter 190 kilogram for all you non-colonials and just look at it in person.
[SPEAKER_01]: which is probably called past.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm gonna say that's something you do wearing brown pants just to be safe.
[SPEAKER_00]: A much hard pass.
[SPEAKER_01]: Is it the going up the hill or the fact that the grill is too breads?
[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't like paying you out with people they go, I may or may not kill you today and you can't do anything about it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, definitely high on that list of good God.
[SPEAKER_01]: Also in our links, you'll find our discord.
[SPEAKER_01]: Again, what we love our discord, it is an amazing place.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's super fun.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was in there before the cast actually just commenting on a few things with some people.
[SPEAKER_01]: Really great place to know really Brad and I notes the more importantly meet other like-minded individuals.
[SPEAKER_01]: We've grown this thing and it continues to grow.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's really a community more than anything else designed to be a place for people to interact who like Warhammer, lore, who like Warhammer, and especially a great place.
[SPEAKER_01]: The most important thing for Brad and I, it's a place for people who are newer to Warhammer, to go and learn more about it and get advice without getting flamed.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's my biggest hatred of most of the warhammer places is you go there and you just get ripped into for asking a newbie question.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nothing wrong with that.
[SPEAKER_01]: And because I didn't piss anyone off in a while, it's totally free and every discord should be totally free.
[SPEAKER_01]: No one should be charging for discord.
[SPEAKER_01]: Discord doesn't charge you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Why would you charge someone for a discord?
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I just make sense to me.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so that's the minute, like it's okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Make a profit of something you paid for.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, fuck, let's get into it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get where we left off.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we left off, outfairious and oh, my God, we're giving a choice of basically the future of humanity.
[SPEAKER_01]: Defeat Horace, I'm like a ball.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, from lika ball, and over many millennia, humanity would feed chaos until it grew enough to consume the galaxy and kill everything.
[SPEAKER_01]: Or,
[SPEAKER_01]: aid Horace and burn the galaxy down like they're by starving the chaos guides and killing them.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think they meant this to come off like doing we're going to be a controlled burn to prevent a future wildfire except the controlled burn they're describing is a cataclysmic wildfire that kills anything and everything.
[SPEAKER_01]: So you're just doing the wildfire.
[SPEAKER_01]: But like, but it's a planned wildfire.
[SPEAKER_01]: It takes so much and everything's on fire, but it's okay because I set the fire.
[SPEAKER_00]: a lot of the cabal, but these two choices are just a stupid because they're both awful.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: It can't.
[SPEAKER_00]: It can't.
[SPEAKER_00]: It kills everybody you know or everybody you know guy gets killed anyways.
[SPEAKER_00]: What?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, obviously, I'm not a big fan of the Kabbal.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like I know, I think the Kabbal, well wait, but wait, I think the Kabbal are really awesome until the GW started actually diving in and writing the Kabbal in which case they became really crappy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because it's like what's the thing is Star Wars that I hate Brad, the Merrick Clarions, but the hell is that stupid?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, where they explained the force and ruined it, that's what the Kabbal is.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Kabbal should have been secret shadow organization.
[SPEAKER_01]: Are they good?
[SPEAKER_01]: Are they bad?
[SPEAKER_01]: That's all you say about them.
[SPEAKER_01]: But then they gave John Grammatic hits a whole bunch of novels, and I just read it and I go, this sucks.
[SPEAKER_01]: These people suck.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, so anyway.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get back into what both we're covering today.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's still a little forever be John Ironicist to me.
[SPEAKER_01]: But continue.
[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: So depending on the source and very which are book you're reading and merely on you, there's a few ways to interpret what happens after the meeting with the Kabul.
[SPEAKER_01]: Some people feel that Algeria snowmagan took different sides.
[SPEAKER_01]: Brad is one of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: One of them, one of them, thanks Kill the Emperor, Barnett all down, was the right thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the other one going, hey, maybe don't do that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Other people, and I think this is more where I am, feel that they made their own plan.
[SPEAKER_01]: Their idea was we're going to aid Horace a little bit, but we're going also a weekend of enough so it doesn't really succeed.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then we're also going to weaken the Emperor to prevent him from driving humanity off a cliff.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that the actual outcome of the horse heresy is exactly what Alpha Legion was trying to achieve.
[SPEAKER_01]: My opinion.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then others feel that they were all in on horse.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: They did have a lot of attacks in the period, but the elsewhere had a bunch of, hey, look, you should fortify this place and or they didn't finish people all out of the white scars and just things of that nature where they were helping the Imperium out.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's my thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then the last group there are people who were like, no, they actually were full.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're full blown chaos.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the only reason the alphlesian didn't succeed is because they were just suffering the standard bad guy fate of clutching defeat from a jaws of victory or is Or in the tabletop, we call that a John Brad doesn't like Brad doesn't like that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Brad doesn't like that.
[SPEAKER_01]: I do this a lot.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm good at it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm very good at it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm very, very good at losing in the last.
[SPEAKER_01]: You definitely snatched a fee for the turn five turn five is a good place if the game's close don't worry turn five John's not very good The cool thing is it's impossible to know the truth here and not just because none of this is real I mean this we're doing a cast about something that's completely made out to be it's me fired up.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it does I mean, but break on.
[SPEAKER_01]: Are we breaking a fifth wall on 11th wall when we talk about this?
[SPEAKER_00]: What ever too many walls
[SPEAKER_01]: It's fine.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, cool, late, man.
[SPEAKER_01]: But it's more because GW intentionally obfuscates this.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I stand by Alpha Legion writing is some of the best work GW's done.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is purposely obfuscated.
[SPEAKER_01]: It really allows you to have genuine debates with your friends about are they this?
[SPEAKER_01]: Are they that?
[SPEAKER_01]: And I love it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's fantastic unless you're wrong in which case why are you so wrong?
[SPEAKER_01]: So what makes the next part of the history of the off-leash and fun, though, this holding my time is because they have twin primaries.
[SPEAKER_01]: For example, we know how ferious was in charge, and Omega was the second, but we don't know is it Captain versus left tenant, which by the way, how do you guys pronounce it that way?
[SPEAKER_01]: How do you go with left tenant?
[SPEAKER_01]: Or is the twins relation more like a healthy relationship where it's like a good couple where they just like yeah, we just kind of terms with this, but all right one of you is primary signature so that's all various go you could be the first signature on it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that little piece right there actually determines almost everything else here because the question in the heresy is, well, are they at odds of each other?
[SPEAKER_01]: They're at odds of each other, how does the legion respond to them?
[SPEAKER_01]: Or they not at odds with each other and they're just pretending to be odds with each other.
[SPEAKER_01]: This whole thing is wild, what we're gonna get into here.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, also, they pretend to be each other, so, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, while not getting along, it the whole this thing is loopy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get into one thing that actually bring you back in time a little bit here and talk more about their ability to infiltrate anything and everyone.
[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about this last week a little bit, but we need to dive in because it's going to come up a lot more in today's cast.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is critical in what's going to happen throughout the heresy.
[SPEAKER_01]: The alpha legion are not sneaky.
[SPEAKER_01]: They don't hide in the shadows and move under the cover of darkness.
[SPEAKER_01]: They basically shapeshift.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're apothecaries do facial reconstruction, allowing them to resemble anyone.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I can do the, we can do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not mission impossible.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's face off.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's do a better movie.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's do face off.
[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
[SPEAKER_01]: A movie that, and watch this.
[SPEAKER_01]: You've seen it, haven't you?
[SPEAKER_00]: More than once.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh God.
[SPEAKER_01]: That I knew it, because they saw if it's one of those movies that I don't think anyone has actually seen, but we're all aware of.
[SPEAKER_01]: But a couple times you and I have had conversations where you're like, oh no, no, that co-opsal piece of garbage that was obviously a waste of time.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, oh yeah, I watched that.
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, Brad has seen face off.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's so bad.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it looked the advertisement for it was like, so here's two actors.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't really like in movies to start with.
[SPEAKER_01]: Pretending to be each other and going way over the top with it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not a comedy.
[SPEAKER_01]: No.
[SPEAKER_00]: In their face, it's not their graph.
[SPEAKER_00]: Their skin graph faces, chains their entire body structure and everything else.
[SPEAKER_00]: But continue.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not a good movie.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, it is not.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, it is not.
[SPEAKER_01]: Ugh, did you all see Broken Arrow?
[SPEAKER_01]: I did.
[SPEAKER_00]: I know it's better.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, that's what we do.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, we'll announce some guys.
[SPEAKER_01]: The next Q&A, we're gonna pull up.
[SPEAKER_01]: all of the movies from, okay, what is his name, the pick one, the danger, the danger.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's pick every Nick Cage movie and see how many Brad has seen.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a movie psycho, so you're gonna go, wow, that guy, if you don't sleep, you can get a lot.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Ghost Rider, Ghost Rider 2.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is not going to go well.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, I'll
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get back into this.
[SPEAKER_01]: The real thing here is that the Alpha Legion actually do facial reconstruction on their own Legionnaires, allowing them to get to infiltrate.
[SPEAKER_01]: We also believe a lot of us think that they can change their physical appearance because they do infiltrate humans.
[SPEAKER_01]: And part of the infiltration is also, so they're changing their voice, they're changing their face, they're changing their mannerisms.
[SPEAKER_01]: They also do research.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're able to talk about the tend to be.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: They do a wild amount of research on what the person knows and everything else.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because they get deep in.
[SPEAKER_00]: They make, they are what the CIA wishes they could do.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because they do real deep in the governments.
[SPEAKER_00]: And start actually changing things that happen.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, they are, they are, they're the movie version of the super secret agency that doesn't actually exist.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's what they are.
[SPEAKER_01]: And one thing that we didn't talk about last week, because I was kind of saving it for this week, is doing a little, hey, theory on how.
[SPEAKER_01]: So my theory on alpha legion is I think they're a legion of clones.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that, and this is because the all regions resemble the primarcs as we've discussed, but these guys, it's a bit more.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's Ravenguard, I'll get the black eyes, the salameters, get the skin tone, blenders, get blonde hair, but the alpha legion go a bit further.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like they can almost all be mistaken for a primarc.
[SPEAKER_00]: Popping out, like, cookie cutters of out there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And my theory on them is coming back from the Votan cast.
[SPEAKER_01]: So when we did the Votan cast, I talk about the kin and the kin are all clones.
[SPEAKER_01]: But it's not the same clone.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's different clones, but it's effectively, the Votan themselves when they make the kin have a set of cookie cutters for lack of a better phrase, and they just stamp them out.
[SPEAKER_01]: Right?
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I think this says.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think the emperor found some cloning technology from the golden age and is using it to create archetypes.
[SPEAKER_01]: and the 20th Legion are an archetype.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this allowed him to create this Legion.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the reason I believe this is first off, you know, this would make the ability of the apothecaries to change the appearance of the Alpha Legion much easier, because if your base bone structure and all those things is the same, it's a lot easier to sculpt off of.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like anyone who's like any level of art, it's easier if your base is identical.
[SPEAKER_00]: talk about the logistics on it is.
[SPEAKER_00]: We originally had possibly a tiny amount of alpha legion, and then all of a sudden they were everywhere in the ghetto, without also having a whole world to drop on.
[SPEAKER_00]: So also you went huge amounts of numbers.
[SPEAKER_01]: out of nowhere.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we don't know how many they're even worried, but we, you could assume over 50,000 during the heresy, possibly pushing to 100,000 given some of the size of the fleets and how far they spread.
[SPEAKER_01]: They were massive.
[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, where did that come from?
[SPEAKER_01]: Multiple places.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they never.
[SPEAKER_01]: And more importantly, they never conquered a world.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's the thing, like at least world-eaters, they would come through, yeah, they killed a lot of people, and nightlores, they would just, but they would still, you know, much of the even car caradons, there's a red tie, they would come through and they would collect, who, where did the outflaging get these recruits from?
[SPEAKER_01]: just makes sense to me, I didn't their all clones.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, we're going to get flamed.
[SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, I'm happy you're flamed as well.
[SPEAKER_01]: I can be wrong on this one, and maybe it's written, maybe there is a recruiting role that is not aware of it, but embarrassing it was like on the first in the front page of Lexicaanum, and I just missed it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oops.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, but the reason that we're talking about this is because the lead up to the outbreak of the heresies, this comes up a lot.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the Legion's official recognition is the raggedan genocides, sort of kind of, but that's the first time they really enter in as a other case.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we didn't have all theories yet, but that was the first time that the 20th Legion became known.
[SPEAKER_01]: This does exist.
[SPEAKER_01]: But they don't take part in the great crusade with the campaigns everybody else.
[SPEAKER_01]: Instead, they disappeared into the darkest of the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oftentimes, joining XE rogue traders and exploratory fleets to get out there and get ahead.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is also one of his and why it's hard to tell how many of them there are, because there's no like fleet going places doing stuff for where there are a few thousand at the outset, where there are tens of thousands of the outset.
[SPEAKER_01]: We don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the truth is too, we also didn't know where they were until we have hindsight, because the Alpha Legion weren't reporting back where they were.
[SPEAKER_01]: They what happened was the Imperium that's a great crusade just pushed further and further out.
[SPEAKER_01]: They just kept getting lucky for lack of a better phrase.
[SPEAKER_01]: They come across like a solar empire, chopped full of gold-nage of technology, and right before they arrived, everyone in charge died.
[SPEAKER_01]: Or they would get to this area where it was going to be a Zeno Empire, one of the planches that the power supply just exploded.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is what was going on.
[SPEAKER_01]: And when you look at the grand-sat scale of the Great Crusade, individual fleets just don't notice that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, hey, we got lucky this time.
[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not till you sit back and go, hey, how did this happen every time?
[SPEAKER_01]: Like almost every time.
[SPEAKER_01]: except back on Terra, there's an issue with a 20th Legion.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is basically the concept is the whole, hey, send the 20th Legion out in the blackness of space thing, seem like a really good idea on paper.
[SPEAKER_01]: Their masters of infiltration and subterfuge, they're going out there, they're paving the way for the armies of humanity.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they're doing the A plus plan.
[SPEAKER_01]: Problem is,
[SPEAKER_01]: You also lost track of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's like playing at the shell game with a P inside of it and you got distracted and looked away.
[SPEAKER_01]: You have no idea where the alpha legion are.
[SPEAKER_01]: You have shape-shifting assorties.
[SPEAKER_01]: All you know is they left.
[SPEAKER_01]: They blend in perfectly even with humans.
[SPEAKER_01]: and you have no idea where they are.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the people back on Terra start realizing that it's entirely possible this Legion may have hitched rides back.
[SPEAKER_01]: they may be back on terror with us.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then, oh, by the way, Alpharius has just shown up.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Alpharius wasn't a big fan of anyone in the rulers of terror.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they weren't big fans of him, either.
[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, I say the rulers of terror.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't mean the lords of terror.
[SPEAKER_01]: This we all hate them anyway.
[SPEAKER_01]: People of actual value, like the head of the Imperial Military.
[SPEAKER_00]: the head of the administrative people who actually did good things for the imperial not captain would I'm a noble like these were these are people who actually mattered and it's also he did get as per the great communicator they gave a ton of just hey go do this and you're like how and what go make the galaxy better
[SPEAKER_00]: That's pretty general, man.
[SPEAKER_00]: How are we gonna do this?
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it could be, we just take over and we kill you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you don't know what they decided about them.
[SPEAKER_01]: But also, if you're like attached, for example, to the great crusade in some way back when Tara and you keep seeing that, hey, this 20th legion are really good at murdering heads of state.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of what they're masters at.
[SPEAKER_01]: And murdering heads of state are having the heads of state's best friend murder them and you recently made a new friend.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's pretty scary, like, oh, God, it's not even, it's a bunch, it's not even just that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the henna's taken spurted by his new friend who also made him get into a Ponzi scheme.
[SPEAKER_00]: And all of a sudden, all your money get influenced took off, too.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're like, wait a minute.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what everyone's, they're basically creating paranoia back on terror.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the line in one of the books is effectively, they realize they may have opened a Pandora's box with a 20th Legion, even Malkador admits it's possible they've lost control of the 20th Legion.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is during the Great Crusade.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the funnier part is all the primarks have their quirks, obviously, but they all at least somewhat listen to orders.
[SPEAKER_01]: How far is this a weird one in this one, too?
[SPEAKER_01]: Because he's not directly in the subordinate, but his methods and tactics just leave a lot of questions.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's everything's open to interpretation.
[SPEAKER_00]: They talk about it in some of the books and stuff.
[SPEAKER_00]: In the fact that he's at the time wildly full on on the Emperor's teachings, but it's more like,
[SPEAKER_00]: I was told the Emperor's teachings, and then I interpreted them in my own way and decided I'm doing that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like Conrad, for example, Conrad curse, complete psychopath.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he would have taken a chance.
[SPEAKER_01]: He would have struck the Emperor.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think he loved the Emperor and ground what it hit the Emperor, more tearing what it hit the Emperor.
[SPEAKER_01]: A couple of them would have.
[SPEAKER_01]: But even up until the Heresy, a lot of these guys were
[SPEAKER_01]: fiercely loyal to the Emperor, not more, Terran.
[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah,
[SPEAKER_01]: That's something he would come to terms with, and go, guess I'm snuffin' the emperor, or malkador, or anybody.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he gets a little bit, the outfallation become a little bit more nervous.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they decide that the best thing to do about them is just kinda send them away.
[SPEAKER_01]: and they push them out even further and further into the galaxy, saying, all right, why don't you guys go all the way out into the galaxy and do your infiltration out there?
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, fun part about this.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know who else was happy to see them go, the other legions.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is because just like them at all.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the other legions have the same problem.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because the other legions, we're also having the same issue.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote
[SPEAKER_01]: actually dark angels in this category too, space wolves.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry guys, but sometimes being next to them would increase your casualties because they're just barbaric in the way they would fight.
[SPEAKER_01]: So you didn't really what it's like, ah, I got to serve next to the world leaders.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, give them some space.
[SPEAKER_01]: They might take a few of you with you, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: But the Alpha Legion, they might manipulate you, because the whole thing's, remember the Alpha Legion's whole concept is we're gonna set together this massive crescendo of events that are gonna lead to all these pieces of play, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: In order to do that, they actually need the other legions to do certain things.
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, they were infiltrating other space marine legions
[SPEAKER_01]: leadership in order to make them the regular in order to make them move ships and troops to get the target of the alpha legions assault to then move their troops to then make the plan alpha legion has work that's not something the other primarks thought was cool
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, D-F, no, F, full F. We are failing grade.
[SPEAKER_01]: Bad.
[SPEAKER_01]: Bad.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, the other legions really hated this.
[SPEAKER_01]: To the point where the thousand sons straight up just avoided Alpha Legion.
[SPEAKER_01]: They wouldn't be around them.
[SPEAKER_01]: The space wolves.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nope, Gilman and Dorn, tried to get them thrown out of the Imperium.
[SPEAKER_01]: Conrad Curse was like, these guys make me uncomfortable.
[SPEAKER_00]: But I can't stop.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm jumping way ahead, but I know my favorites is still right after we really got the heresy going on in the drive.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's good, everything.
[SPEAKER_00]: and the Alpha Legion had infiltrated the Raven guard and then finally, and Horace was like, yeah, the Alpha Legion's on our side, and then went, a Abadon figure out if there's an Alpha Legion around me here.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it'll already begin.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to get to that story.
[SPEAKER_01]: That story's hilarious, by the way.
[SPEAKER_00]: But it's just like those kind of things have happened kind of a lot.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're like, oh, we're so happy to be your ally.
[SPEAKER_00]: Amen.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you find anybody that's the murder them instantaneously.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the only primar, literally the only primar who liked the alpha legion, who wasn't in the alpha legion, was horse.
[SPEAKER_01]: And
[SPEAKER_01]: because he saw in them a style and potential that was unique among the armies.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I do want to pause here and give GW some a ton of credit here because I spent a lot of time shading on GW writing and how they just they'll just reuse the same stories over and over again.
[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone is the best at the same thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: 100% completely unique that what they gave Alpha Legion no one else has.
[SPEAKER_01]: and it really is awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: I run it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think the white scars might also be in this category, but then they the GW gave up on them so it's not my fault.
[SPEAKER_01]: They don't know what else does the white scars do, but then, you know, they stop doing it in M31.
[SPEAKER_01]: But now let's get into the heresy beginning.
[SPEAKER_01]: Alpharius, I'm not sure I'm gonna use one name here.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's Alpharius and Omega, but it's easier to use Alpharius.
[SPEAKER_01]: I've always been by the way, I should mention, every time Alpharius meets with anybody, I was in vision, Alpharius is meeting, and then there's like a seven foot dude hiding behind a pillar, he's dropping behind it, but everyone can see him.
[SPEAKER_01]: So all the primarics to your starlies, I've been doing the ship sees it, but they just play along with it because they feel bad for the two of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: I know that's a hundred percent wrong, but I just would love that to be the case of everyone's against another twins.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, of course on the twins.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's gigantic.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's right there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I mean, by the way, Alpharius looks pretty damn unique.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the two of them, we can see two tall bald dudes.
[SPEAKER_01]: They stand out, like whatever.
[SPEAKER_01]: Fine.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I digress.
[SPEAKER_01]: Altherius is not there for the events of the serpent lodge, but due to his long relation with Horace, he was very receptive to meeting with him.
[SPEAKER_01]: When he pledged his legions loyalty to the cause of the traders.
[SPEAKER_01]: or did he?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk everybody that's all though the drop site massacre, it would want to talk about their long-term plans.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was going to say, yeah, if his thing was, I'm pledging my loyalty to Horace, but I'm not really doing it.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Salamander's iron hands and Ravenguard would like to have a word with like, hey, man, there's Donnie Brasco shit and then there's this, you know.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's part of the plan, bro.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's okay, man.
[SPEAKER_01]: I had to infiltrate them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, there's a blank, you know.
[SPEAKER_01]: It actually is rumored that alpharias may have been the signer behind Estefon 5.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because the alpharias are pretty deceitful.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so the alpharias were not just a little bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the story of Estefon's interesting though, because of that.
[SPEAKER_01]: So if you think about the situation of Estefon 5, Estefon 3 has occurred.
[SPEAKER_01]: We now know Horace's a trader.
[SPEAKER_01]: Rogel Dorn finds out about this and says, okay, we're gonna go put down the traders.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the orders, I have to get some people over there to kill them.
[SPEAKER_01]: So who are we gonna call?
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Rogel does not like alpharius.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the interesting thing is why did he call up the alpholizian and say, hey, I need you to go fight Horace, because on paper, seems kind of risky.
[SPEAKER_00]: He got so dupped in this.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because Doran just thinks that for whatever reason also didn't fact check very bad.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm assuming his fact checkers were other Alpha Legion that were sitting their way.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, honestly, probably.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because yeah, Doran says, hey, I don't think that
[SPEAKER_00]: the Afilligians had any contact with Horace because of the fact that they've been sent all the way over here.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the timing on its hilarious, because the events of Istvon three happened, Afilligian had been in dark space.
[SPEAKER_01]: And right afterwards, Afillian just happens purely by chance to return into the Imperium space and go, oh, hey, fellow Imperium, what's been going on?
[SPEAKER_01]: We just got back from a long journeys.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you know why, yeah,
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, total community in blackout has there been any fun news recently and Dorn goes Well, thank God you guys are here.
[SPEAKER_01]: I could really use some help because because I like Dorn But sometimes Dorn's a don't In this situation now he does he does get some revenge later.
[SPEAKER_01]: I will be honest.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's gonna be in our next cast But he does get pretty sweet revenge on this one
[SPEAKER_01]: But, yeah, Doran says, perfect.
[SPEAKER_01]: Can you do you guys hear, go to Istvon.
[SPEAKER_01]: I need you to put down the horrors for a belly in it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Ferris and the Legion go, no problem, bro.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're on it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oopsies.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the question does a lot of questions about how this all really happened and all those pieces went together, but no matter the cause behind the traitors behavior of Alpha, they were very much so on the side of the traitors of this fun.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's possible they don't fear emotives, but they slaughtered.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that they have a really warped view.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're like the villain that makes sense, but also is horrible at the same time where you're like, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, your methods are horrific, which they are.
[SPEAKER_00]: They have to leave you to do a bunch of jack-tops stuff.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, but I feel that they think they're doing them to write the ship or at least make it so that the ship completely sank.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think again, and I'll say it here.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll say it again.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think the alpha-laging view themselves as the custodians of the galaxy Not the custodians but the custodians of the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're trying to shape the galaxy and move the galaxy in certain ways to achieve an end
[SPEAKER_01]: Do they, are they correct?
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, are you going to go job?
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: But that's, I believe their motivations are uniquely their own and I think to themselves, they are positive.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're just chaotic.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be right back after a quick break.
[SPEAKER_01]: Fun story on Istvon 5 that occurs because Alpha Legion is going to Alpha Legion.
[SPEAKER_01]: for no stated purpose at the time.
[SPEAKER_01]: No reason.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Alpha Legion decide that after slaughtering at Eston V, this is a really good time to infiltrate the Ravenguard.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they go with the Ravenguard legitimately in full retreat.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the Ravenguard are on Eston V running away from the world leaders at Angron, who is trying to personally pull their limbs off of their bodies.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the Alpha Legion and their apothecaries collect a dozen.
[SPEAKER_01]: We don't know a group of dead raven guard and then perform AFCP surgery on a bunch of Alpha Legion to make them look like these dead ones, put their armor on them.
[SPEAKER_01]: And my favorite part is they then
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, they know where the raven guard at, they'll tell the world leaders.
[SPEAKER_01]: They just go join the raven guard.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, the speech of Shemby style.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hello fellow raven guard, are you also running from the world leaders?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's so crazy because you're like, why?
[SPEAKER_00]: If you're trying to actually kill them, you know, hey, we joined Kass and we're doing this.
[SPEAKER_00]: They could have easily ended them, but they don't.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they were fighting them, they were going on.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, standing next to Correx.
[SPEAKER_01]: They could have killed Correx right then and there.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then it's like, nah, we'll help out.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what they had.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they joined it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I also want to point out, Corax didn't detect them.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's where I come up about it.
[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about how good these guys were in filtration.
[SPEAKER_01]: They were sitting next to Corax and Corax went, oh yeah, this is one of mine.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hmm.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: So why did they do it?
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it kind of pays off for lack of a better phrase.
[SPEAKER_01]: do the devastation of Estvan V, the Ravenguard effectively don't exist anymore.
[SPEAKER_01]: Corex goes, yeah, Corex goes back to his home world of deliverance, terrible name, by the way.
[SPEAKER_01]: And just terrible name.
[SPEAKER_01]: The problem that they have is that in order to really get your gene seed going, again, you have to harvest it from the dead legionaires.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're all on Estvan V, and he's on deliverance.
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's not possible.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, the only way to actually grow the legion would be to almost farm it out of corp. You can do it's very out of the primarks.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a little bit quick, but out of the actual legionnaires, it's incredibly slow.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, it could be millennia before the Ravenguard get back to full strength, or they could have called the car caradons.
[SPEAKER_01]: It shows not to do that, so we're in this process.
[SPEAKER_01]: Horax though doesn't want to wait.
[SPEAKER_01]: He wants to go kill the traitors.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we get the dumbest story.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever.
[SPEAKER_01]: Corax goes and meets with the emperor.
[SPEAKER_00]: And says rocks from the emperor is like, hey, I need to beat up.
[SPEAKER_00]: This we took a huge loss.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is bullshit.
[SPEAKER_00]: I need my allegiance to be back.
[SPEAKER_00]: I need to be able to use the original lab to jump start, you know, to get the Marines going the way that you print it out the Marines originally and the emperors like yeah sure man I got other stuff to do and I'm a bad communicator and a bad English dad so do what you got to do here's the keys to one of my see what I have to say in the one of my secret lab.
[SPEAKER_01]: The whole thing's weird, though, because the Emperor, he treats us like an old man with former hobbies.
[SPEAKER_01]: Where he just, he's does a hobby for a little bit, then he gets bored of it, and it boxes it up and puts it in the corner.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll get to that later.
[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, if you're a person who does this, you never get to it later.
[SPEAKER_01]: You never do.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just get rid of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just something people have to clean out later.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, his lab is...
[SPEAKER_00]: A country-sized lab that he forgot, but just doesn't use it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, and he Kevin McCarthy the damn thing, so it's booby-trapped all over the place.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, good God.
[SPEAKER_01]: But was it the wet bandits?
[SPEAKER_01]: Is that the Corox went in there as soon?
[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, man, could have given these some of the codes, it or told me there is traps.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: None of these things happen.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Also, want to point out, so this thing's been sitting there the whole time, which he could have just utilized to remake the gene seed and get it going.
[SPEAKER_01]: Emperors children almost became extinct because they ran out of gene seed.
[SPEAKER_01]: Salamanders almost became extinct because they ran out of gene seed.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dark angels almost became extinct because they ran out of gene seed.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, it was just sitting there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, he is the worst.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, he was making hundreds of thousands of these from this lab and weight.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I got some stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like this entire story, by the way, it's successful.
[SPEAKER_01]: Correx goes in there, gets it, they're fighting his way through all of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just the entire story is a giant...
[SPEAKER_01]: WTF when you read the whole thing and it's one thing you read the book.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that was kind of cool story And then you'll be making a sandwich for your self-laid or going like wait what the hell just happened?
[SPEAKER_00]: Hold up When we talk about it the more I do kind of think that the emperor is Rick from Rick and Morty But continue.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you're right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh god out.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's a good animation.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a really good animation I'm just saying that right now Oh, guys, I can't leave Howard Rick.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just
[SPEAKER_01]: Segwenus!
[SPEAKER_01]: Segwenus, I'm a pickle!
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, anyway.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so...
[SPEAKER_01]: Correx brings the Gene Seed back to deliverance and gives it to his Pothachary start working on it.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we're gonna make a new Gene Seed, we're gonna remake our Legion Yadiyada.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry, pause on this.
[SPEAKER_00]: I cannot state how dumb this is.
[SPEAKER_00]: They had a lab, a giant lab.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, I see giant, it's not a double basement.
[SPEAKER_01]: They have to make it look complicated.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, yes, they look complicated.
[SPEAKER_00]: He left with it instead of just screwing it, how you just push the button and they would just start,
[SPEAKER_00]: T-shirt running out Marines.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nope.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nope.
[SPEAKER_01]: We have that more work.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so the the alpha Legion who have infiltrated the Ravenguard do the Vizini switcheru because only because you know that I would know that you would know.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so they do that little maneuver.
[SPEAKER_01]: They wait for the Ravenguard apothecaries work to basically perfect the gene seed for implantation.
[SPEAKER_01]: while doing so, they brought more alpha legion to the planet who'd been infiltrating the populace of deliverance.
[SPEAKER_01]: And all of a sudden, all of deliverance goes into an absolute civil war.
[SPEAKER_01]: And every time I say deliverance, that stupid banjo plays in my brain.
[SPEAKER_01]: Every freaking time, it's driving me insane.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is why one of the reasons we have that we haven't had a Ravenguard cast.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just going to be annoying to say deliverance that many times, but we'll do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll do it.
[UNKNOWN]: We'll do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: But this sends the entire planet into rebellion, causing havoc in fusion everywhere.
[SPEAKER_01]: This allows the infiltrated authorities to grab the pure gene seed, make a copy of it, and then take the original employees in it with a warp poison.
[SPEAKER_01]: They then leave with it, and the rebellions put down everything is cordial back to normal, and the Ravenguard used a gene seed, and discovered mutates all the assorties into monsters that Corax has to go and kill, or does he?
[SPEAKER_01]: Because you don't have to, if you wanna make your Ravenguard Raptors, it's super cool, you should, just saying.
[SPEAKER_01]: But, the alpha lesion though are not done yet.
[SPEAKER_01]: they just wrecked the chances of the raven guard ever aiding in the defense of terror.
[SPEAKER_01]: But what about the traders?
[SPEAKER_01]: So they tell Horace about this cool thing they did.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, we had a lot of these guys posed as them their primar didn't notice.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we stole their jeans seat.
[SPEAKER_01]: To a tourist is like, hey, that's awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: Holy, yeah, I'm so happy you did that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Good God, good God.
[SPEAKER_01]: But if you could give that jeans to the Fabius Bile, that'd be great cause he's gonna make a bunch of more chaos guys for us.
[SPEAKER_01]: I guess it's more trainer guys for us.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll hopefully just say no problem.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they happily hand-fabious bile and even more corrupted version of the gene sometimes they need to re-vert in charge.
[SPEAKER_01]: Why are we useless?
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, at a point where like the gene seed was just a middle finger.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's effectively what they gave her.
[SPEAKER_01]: Mike, hey, you're good luck with this.
[SPEAKER_01]: And to the public, and this story, then you're like, well, what is the alpha legion trying to do?
[SPEAKER_01]: I guess this is, again, it was the back of my theory.
[SPEAKER_01]: The only person who benefited from any of this was alpha legion.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Ravenguard got screwed.
[SPEAKER_01]: The traitors got screwed, but alpha legion do have almost the primarous gene seat at this stage.
[SPEAKER_01]: For primarous marines, the funnier part though, well, two pieces of this, the first one is after this because I think the Kabbal would want to tip them off
[SPEAKER_01]: goes and meets with the cabal and tells them yeah, you guys can go pound sand effectively.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're done with you Nope, we're doing a we've got our we've got our own plan.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, which is a good stand because it goes yeah your plan also sucks because yeah both of your plans
[SPEAKER_00]: are horrendous.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is one of the reasons why people think that alpharious and omega were not aligned with them, because omega met with them not alpharious, maybe alpharious, wanted to prevent this whole story's tricky, because it's did alpharious.
[SPEAKER_01]: I still think that the twins are at odds with what does.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: So.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm telling the story more from my perspective.
[SPEAKER_01]: The other perspective is that Altherius was the one behind the stealing of it and poisoning the Ravenguard, but then Omega poisoned the one that was going to Fabius byl.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so in effect what you're seeing is it's not an actual plan coming together, 18-style, it's actually the inverse.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's actually two very nefarious characters, more spy versus spy.
[SPEAKER_01]: constantly undermining the other ones plan and then everyone around them just kind of going they basically negate each other.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they end up becoming almost a non entity.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that also lines up as sometimes we'll get to in a minute.
[SPEAKER_01]: But there's one more story around this whole Ravenguard infiltration that Brad can take to earlier.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, I jumped again a little bit as well in my mind, but it's still hilarious.
[SPEAKER_01]: So Horace didn't know about this infiltration of the Ravenguard after Esteban 5, and when he found out he was pretty calm and collected with Elfarius, oh, that's great.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, give the jeans to you over there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Edda Brad's point immediately calls Abadadin and goes, listen.
[SPEAKER_01]: It anyone in the sons of Horace, even remotely, you don't remember, kill them, but just I don't care, they're dead.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you kill every single person here, who you, if you think he's not dead, he dies today.
[SPEAKER_00]: Ah, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
[SPEAKER_01]: But it was because to be fair, Horace was scared, because this was a question of, hey, if these guys can infiltrate and stand next to a primarck, because that's the whole thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's one thing, if you could infiltrate and stand, even stand next to Abadon, that's doable.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's still, he's, I mean, this is again, Horace Harris, he Abadon.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's still just in a start-ins.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's not that powerful, but a primarck's a whole different level.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they do have psychic powers, that's scary.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, but let's get to meet the heresy.
[SPEAKER_00]: So let's talk about what happened right after that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because Horace is like, yeah, I got to get this done.
[SPEAKER_00]: We got to get so we need to make our lightning strike.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're splitting with galaxy, but I don't know if I can do a long turn.
[SPEAKER_00]: We've already talked about that in multiple cast from the Horace area.
[SPEAKER_00]: See in the things of that nature.
[SPEAKER_00]: Horace is not sure about what's going on with the Alpha Legion, and wants them to be useful because he has to be with his resources, but also wants them the hell away from me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, so the first thing Horace does is he sends them out to go and basically do a disinformation campaign.
[SPEAKER_01]: Horace knows that the Imperium is going to turn their marketing machine on hard until everyone Horace's traitor, Horace Bad, do all these things, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: Horace had to get there first, so what he does, he sends the Alpha Legion out to kind of ferment descent amongst people and drive them to his cause.
[SPEAKER_01]: The idea was to have Alpha Legion infiltrate a lot of key worlds, high worlds, forage worlds, et cetera.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so seeds of discontent within the value of being part of the Imperium, mostly targeting worlds that were brought into compliance against their will.
[SPEAKER_01]: So not ultramarine worlds that were brought into compliance, world eater worlds.
[SPEAKER_01]: Possibly, well, it wouldn't be World War Bear, but, you know, space wolves.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, guys.
[SPEAKER_01]: But people who would have broken the back of the world to bring them into compliance.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then saying to them, look, are you really with the emperor?
[SPEAKER_01]: Because doesn't being the Imperium kind of suck?
[SPEAKER_01]: And the goal they had was to either flip them to Horus or at least move them to neutral.
[SPEAKER_01]: This would thereby starve the Imperium and hold them back.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a task, Alpha Legion A plus.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is exactly what we love to do.
[SPEAKER_00]: We were gonna do this anyways, man.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's actually possible.
[SPEAKER_01]: We were kind of already doing that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's gonna look like we're really successful out the gate, not because we've been doing it for the last 50 years.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the next thing they have to do is Horace also still looking for allies.
[SPEAKER_01]: And one of the ideas Horace had was the White Scars.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why he thought Con would be anti-amper, no one does, but Horace thought it would be, and the white scars had been out in a system called Chondax.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is close to Olenor, so it's not where it is, but we know it's in the right side of the galaxy somewhere.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the white scars had been left out there.
[SPEAKER_00]: The East of the galaxy, Joe.
[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't want to just find me a magnetic north and I'm happy to follow it, yeah, yeah, yeah, just do me a favor go up the international space station pull out your trusty compass and let me know which way it points, but White scars are out on chondax.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is they're actually still on clean up from the ulnar campaigns.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're hunting down orgs out there and they're doing a good job at white scars actually do have a good history of hunting down orgs.
[SPEAKER_01]: Inside this system, unknown to, well, known to, I don't care.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a Necron Pylon on one of the asteroids in the system.
[SPEAKER_01]: The alpha legion had infiltrated this asteroid and paid me a troll the pilot.
[SPEAKER_00]: That was to say, they're also just using the pilot.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, they knew how to use it from the beginning.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, of course.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's just part of the way.
[SPEAKER_00]: Give me the kitchen.
[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, they randomly just mentioned.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they don't go into that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, are you working the pilot?
[SPEAKER_00]: You just are.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we infiltrated the pylon, duh, Brad.
[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know that my giver was one of the alpha legion.
[SPEAKER_00]: Makes more sense, but yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's actually the effort for me to not check my giver and dark man, but that's a side note for another very good movie.
[SPEAKER_01]: So,
[SPEAKER_01]: the Alpha Legion users probably to turn off all communications.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the White Skars have, they're in no communication coming in or out to them, which notably didn't really concern them that much.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so I read that to believe that communication blackouts at this era were commonplace in the galaxy, which would actually make some sense.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was still new-ish.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're getting pretty far out there.
[SPEAKER_01]: But in another, this is another area where the questions were Alpha and Omega in conflict,
[SPEAKER_01]: We don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is the.
[SPEAKER_00]: I still totally think so because this is one of the biggest stories that says it because the Alpha Legion basically calls out their other Alpha Legion for giving information of the white skies at this point in time.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think it's a ruse, but let's get into the story.
[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a message that's trying to get out.
[SPEAKER_01]: So at this point, there's a message from Dorn that's going to every single member of the, of the invariant saying, of the yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: Horses a trader, get back to Terra.
[SPEAKER_01]: We need you to support Horses coming to kill the emperor.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, that message can't get to the white scars because of this pylon on the asteroid.
[SPEAKER_01]: The alpha legion at a nowhere claim that the other alpha legion manning the pylon are actually leaking information to the white scars in the chondec system, information about the goings on of the heresy.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they then attack the alpha legion and destroy the pylon, which removes a communication blackout, which immediately allows Dorne's message to come through, telling the white scars everything about the heresy.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not the most complex of betrayal plans.
[SPEAKER_01]: I will be honest, my theory on this is I think that they were actually, they're not in conflict here.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think they did this in case Horace asked, what the F where you doing here?
[SPEAKER_01]: And they're like, oh, no, they were telling them so we had no choice because they were going, they were going to give away true positions.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: True positions.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, hell, they have to lead you to show us up with this gigantic thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this part is cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the white scars get the message and go, yeah, back to Terra and they start moving towards Terra.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know where this giant alpha legion fleet appears in the system blocking all the mort of all points.
[SPEAKER_01]: So now they can't get out of system because they're being blocked.
[SPEAKER_01]: But there's no engagement.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so the white scars start sending messages like, hey man, can you get out of the way?
[SPEAKER_01]: but the author should begin moving closer and closer, almost in a menacing sense.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're not powering up weapons, but they're getting closer and closer.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the con is left with kind of a difficult choice.
[SPEAKER_01]: He knows there's a rebellion going on.
[SPEAKER_01]: But he doesn't really necessarily know who's on what side and it's entirely possible.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a issue that the con has that the alpha legion are here to make sure he's not a trader.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he doesn't want to shoot at them.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, say, also they're not shooting in him.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: Don't shoot at him.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a he's concerned that if I start shooting at these guys, they might be here to make sure I'm not a trader.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not a trader.
[SPEAKER_01]: So as a trader, I shouldn't shoot at them.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and also they're fleets so much bigger than it is, but continue.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the outfit you get closer and closer.
[SPEAKER_01]: And now we cover this in the horrors heresy cast, but we haven't talked about white scars in a while because much like we're like GW.
[SPEAKER_01]: the white scars super power is they can make all their vehicles do super moves attack bikes roller blades, unicycles, land speeders, spaceships, whatever they can do they can do anything so they kind of as a plant so he knocks a faint where his ships begin to kind of drift aimlessly as the offlaging get closer and closer but the offlaging as they get closer they're not as good
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a small gap of peers between them in an instant, all the white scars, ships turn, engines full, and they'll say, last, there's a gap, yeah, and go right through the gap.
[SPEAKER_01]: The athlete can do shoot at them at this point, by the way, and they leave the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, again, lots of debate as to what this was.
[SPEAKER_01]: Some people think this is, this is Omigon, that this altheris had nothing to do with this.
[SPEAKER_01]: Altheris was the one who put the guys on the asteroid to keep the white scars out.
[SPEAKER_01]: Omigons won leading this fleet who comes in there and Omigons basically try to juice up the white scars.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they get back to terror.
[SPEAKER_01]: Other people think that like me think that know this was a plan by both of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: They had the idea was we're going to put them in a communications black out because hope we don't want Horace knowing that we're secretly not with him But in reality, we actually aren't with him.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we had to kind of the same goal.
[SPEAKER_01]: We got to get the white scars back to terror because otherwise Horace will win.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, we also don't even know who was in charge.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's Alpha Legion
[SPEAKER_01]: Now what jacks up my plan and makes it my my theory makes Brad doing more accurate is the next thing that happens.
[SPEAKER_00]: because we, one side of the Alpha Legion, legitimately funneled the white scars back to Terra and got them going.
[SPEAKER_00]: The other side of the Alpha Legion, let's talk about why they have a little hatred because not a lot of primaries were super cool with Alpharius, the first place.
[SPEAKER_00]: But they did, they kind of grumbled in just when I don't want to do work for them.
[SPEAKER_00]: However, they weren't doing podcasts like Lehman Russ was doing talking about, Hey, here's the people I don't like.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'll ferry this thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just like, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, how many people are listening?
[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone?
[SPEAKER_00]: Cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: Don't care.
[SPEAKER_00]: I hate this guy.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's a scazzy bastard.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's because I left.
[SPEAKER_01]: You called it a podcast.
[SPEAKER_01]: We have a podcast.
[SPEAKER_01]: People can choose to listen to this.
[SPEAKER_01]: Lehman Russ went on like global network it can hit like transmit to all Hey, here's all the people I don't like alpharious And also and all the space walls were like us too.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're putting up billboards on plans that they went up like The alpha legions sucks So anyway, like the alpha legions do not like the space wolves the space wolves are out on chondacks They've just finished the devastation of prospero
[SPEAKER_01]: a nowhere this massive alpha lesion fleet appears.
[SPEAKER_01]: And unlike the white scars scenario where they appear and we're kind of, hey, what's going on?
[SPEAKER_01]: No, they should have attacked.
[SPEAKER_01]: They appear and attack.
[SPEAKER_01]: Is it stable or not?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that is not ready for them in any way.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because they're still, I mean, yes, they won on Prospero.
[SPEAKER_01]: They took a lot of damage.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was not an easy battle, and they're still licking their wound.
[SPEAKER_01]: So this goes pretty bad out the gate.
[SPEAKER_01]: Russ sends out a distress call saying, hey, someone helped me.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm under attack and he gets the world's worst reply first where it's the white scars and cause up here screw you kind because Russ said to me not in the leaning into my space was here for a second.
[SPEAKER_00]: Russ sends out a distress call in Congo's Yemen.
[SPEAKER_00]: I heard there's a civil war going on and I don't know who's who.
[SPEAKER_00]: It russes like come on man.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's the it's Alpha Legion is shooting at me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Who do you think the traitor like and like objectively?
[SPEAKER_01]: Who would be the traitor here?
[SPEAKER_01]: And Con's like, yeah, I just can't figure this one out.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's way too complicated and his leaves.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I want to point out, this is why one major gripe on Russ.
[SPEAKER_01]: He never punches Con for this.
[SPEAKER_01]: Russ gets back to Terra at the end.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Emperor is in the golden throne.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're all doing their thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Why didn't Russ walk over and just not kill him?
[SPEAKER_01]: But just knock him down with a salad.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, man, I told you I was a loyalist.
[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks, asshole.
[SPEAKER_00]: Need out the Bob courtesy of Kenneth and Sainel.
[SPEAKER_01]: Jesus.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like what?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: But...
[SPEAKER_01]: The alpha legion starts whittling down the space while fleece and is weird moment of actual weakness.
[SPEAKER_01]: Russ isolates himself as a personal chamber because he just becomes solid and depressed because he's accepting that him and his legion are about to die.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then, victory from the jaws of defeat because while the con, the distress calling might not my problem, the lion hurt it and went, I'm sorry, someone needs an ass kicking?
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm on my way.
[SPEAKER_00]: strapping on his boots and my de-askings, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: I hope there's some rebellion going on.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and it, so this, I like this Marcos.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like almost a cartoon.
[SPEAKER_01]: Could you got this small, spasable fleet?
[SPEAKER_01]: Then gets this big, outflage and fleet up here.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it starts beating it up.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then this even larger, dark angel fleet appears and goes, yeah, all of your bucket your ass is kicked.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the outflage and together, credit, see the dark angels go, how, nope,
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, not even trying.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're gone.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they're out.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the last thing I want to cover today is not Pluto.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to start next week with Pluto.
[SPEAKER_01]: The last thing I want to cover is one other key moment with the primarcalpharius.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is with the shattered legion because it's again begs a question of what was going on with these guys.
[SPEAKER_01]: So.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a group of, you know, left over a star is called the shattered legions.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I know you love this dude's name, so I'm gonna let you hit it.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's just we're not we're going to the Shadraq mid-Dusan, that's a fun one, he's one of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the shattered legions refers to a collection of a stardies who'd survive is fun five.
[SPEAKER_01]: Some of them actually weren't even honest, fun five, some of them just left over memories of just busted legions.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a collection of them, but they're loyalist members.
[SPEAKER_01]: And also, I think I might even have some loyalist members of Trader legions too.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a big mess of Rando dudes.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the biggest group is Iron Hands.
[SPEAKER_01]: That was one of the biggest chunk of the shattered lesions.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the Chinese just have some really cool stories during the Harris season.
[SPEAKER_01]: They basically were like, look, we're gonna get our pound of flesh.
[SPEAKER_01]: You guys might have shot us in the back.
[SPEAKER_01]: Cool, watch this.
[SPEAKER_01]: All we're gonna do is try to make the Trader's lives miserable.
[SPEAKER_01]: Even doing just full blown suicide missions, but going, I'm gonna dive.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm taking 10 of you with me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Watch this.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they're kind of cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, at one point, though, their leader, Shadrakma Dusan, it becomes incapacitated.
[SPEAKER_01]: We don't know how, but he is, and is replaced by alpharius.
[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
[SPEAKER_01]: Because how farious knew about the shattered legions and the shattered legions were like the inverse of what is current red corsairs.
[SPEAKER_01]: The red corsairs saying, hey, do you not have a place in the galaxy come join the chaos pirates?
[SPEAKER_01]: And the shattered legion was saying, hey, do you still like the emperor and everyone you're related to doesn't?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, come on over here.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, come on over here.
[SPEAKER_01]: Alpharius was aware that there were members of the Alpha Legion that fell into that category, so effectively disloyal members of his legion to him.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he infiltrates and takes control of the shattered legion and uses them to hunt down
[SPEAKER_01]: members of his own Legion who were no longer loyal to him, which begs a fun question, how not loyal to them to him were they loyal to Omega, or were they not loyal to either of them?
[SPEAKER_01]: this, we don't know, was it even outfairious?
[SPEAKER_01]: Was it Omigon who did it?
[SPEAKER_01]: Imagine being a mo- They're leaching at this point.
[SPEAKER_01]: Did you have no idea here what's going on?
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just that's wild story.
[SPEAKER_01]: So this is what kind of one of the last actions that they do before we get to, what is
[SPEAKER_01]: the creation of the hydra.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what I want to get to next week because we mentioned this before on our last cast that the logo of the Alpha Legion is a hydra.
[SPEAKER_01]: But they're not a hydra at the up until what's about to be next week.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're about to become, you also, you also think cool names and it really suit like hero masters.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, oh, the alpha region about to explode because up until this point, the alpha region are still, there are goofy Legion, but they're still somewhat similar to other legions.
[SPEAKER_01]: In the events we're going to do next week, they become this whole different thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's really wild and really cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: So next week, we're going to get into the invasion of Seoul, I'll call it out.
[SPEAKER_01]: The potential death of alpharious and on Omega, they both die.
[SPEAKER_01]: They will be sort of
[SPEAKER_01]: Someone, that's what he, both, someone who resembles each of them dies.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's got a bleed, not he just died, got a bow.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh God.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Dorn, Dorn has an opinion.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it should have, his weapon should be called hatred and anger, so he was not pleased.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Dorn, yeah, but that's where we're, so next week we're gonna open up with the invasion.
[SPEAKER_01]: So all of them, we're gonna take them, the elf legion up through more modern 40k.
[SPEAKER_01]: So super excited for that.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see you all then.
[SPEAKER_01]: But John Barsotti, Brad Chester?
[SPEAKER_01]: See you guys next week.
[UNKNOWN]: Thank you.
