Speaker 1: M hey, welcome to episode one point five. New Music. Sodays Friday, all the new music comes out, and we had a bunch of new stories, so I thought we'd come on and let me welcome to Eddie. There's my new music Correspondent, which, by the way, we'll be doing a podcast real soon about bands that have had more than one lead singer. Yeah. I like that, so we'll have that coming up to But today's Friday, so a lot of new music and a lot of new stories. I thought we'd take a second to talk about these. So first of all, uh, slip Knot has the number one album in America. Yeah, do I have slip Knot over here on the right? Okay, slip Knot, I couldn't tell you one song of theirs, but I do know they were clown masks. There you go. Slip Knot sold a hundred and eighteen thousand copies of the new album We Are Not Your Kind enough to earn their number one spot. It's their first number one album in eighteen years. People still buying full albums. Well, sometimes you'll see artists when the album war because they're putting out full albums. And and fan base right and and no, but yes, meaning when the Backstrey Boys had the biggest album, they weren't streamed the most, but they sold the most hard album, hard copy album. Weird thing. You can almost find any way to make yourself look victorious at this point because there's so many data points that you can use. Interesting stream number one and they do, and they'll also do this many streams equals this many albums, then you can combine them. But that being said, slip Knot has the number one album in America, not gonna take that away from you away might be like this music. I love slip Knot. That's wrong with you? Obviously, they're a hundred and eighteen thousand people that agree with Mike d and they sell a lot of vinyl tooth, a lot of that's hard copy. Billie Eilish, after a record breaking nineteen weeks and number one Old Town Road by Little nos X has fall all into Billie Eilish, who's now number one with the song right here. That song was holding the record for the longest number two song. Never Now Old Town Road fell and there you go, goodbye Oldtown Road. Yeah, he love Billie Eilish. And then finally a music news Taylor Swift can rerecord all the music she did for her previous label, but she has to wait about a year to do it. On Good Morning America yesterday, she said, quote, my contract says that's starting November, I can record albums one through five all over again. Interesting. This is my prediction on what happens, that this is a negotiation tactic to buy her stuff back. Oh wow, so she doesn't actually re record them again. Just me seeing this and hearing this, it's a smart move by her to go, I'm just gonna record them because it then makes the records that she has that big machine owns to go, oh crap, we don't want to do that. Because she does, it's gonna make ours not worth as much because people won't be streaming those will stream her new stuff. We'll lose value. So we should probably sell for her for the most we can. My prediction is that that is that play, and that's a good business angle. I mean, that's probably is the play. But artistically, creatively, creatively, like it's kind of cool to have the option to go back to your songs and say, like, you know what, I've grown as an artist, but I can do Tim McGraw in a total different way. Now, Yeah, but she's not gonna do it told it for I think you're missing the point. She wants to do it as close to absolutely the same as possible. Well, no, it's not dumb, because what it is is she's gonna make money. Listen to that song. If anyone listens to Ti McGraw right now, which millions people do, She's not making the money off that what she shouldn't, by the way, because she signed a contract to make that and she was paid to do. She fulfilled her part of the deal. They fulfilled their part of the deal. That's why a deal is made. Just the first time we ever talked about that, I don't know. I think that's the first time you've ever maybe privately I've yeah, probably we've had this conversation. But if she were to recreate it, she would recreate it as close as possible just to have it her own. I get it because most people, if they were looking for timgraw, wouldn't want to hear a new version from Taylor. Most people would want to go I want to hear to t mcgrawl. They want to listen to Tim McGraw, so their cargol would be to make it exactly so exact to the first one that if you're going to find that song, you're gonna have of them, are gonna listen to her a new one? They never sound exactly the same thing. They're not going to but because you know, fifteen year old tailor is not gonna sound like her now. But see again, that is selfishly, selfless, selflessly her idea and like her motive. But for the consumer, like we already have the song, we don't care who owns it, right, so we would go listen to the new version too. It's just a business move on her. She makes no money if you go listen, I say no, she does still make money off of it, But she doesn't make as much money listening to if she owned one, if she had the rights to them. So interesting, it's not new versions. She wanted to make them as exactly like the old. So on, instead of going to listen to the old that she doesn't own, you listen to the new that she does that sounds exactly the same. It is gonna be so weird. It's like old coke, new coke, like whatever. Well, those at least tastes different. Purpose you're right, Um, I think I don't think she'll record a new albums. I think this is a potentially end up buying the old ones because they're gonna go. Don't do that, because we're gonna lose our value and the best thing we can do is get as much value as we can. Right now, you're probably right, just a guess. No, nothing, have no inside knowledge of that. Those are the big music stories. There is some new music out today. I wanted to play for you guys. I'll play some Taylor. So Taylor's record came out today and it's called Lover. This is a song with the Dixie Chicks called Soon You'll Be good Enough, And that song is supposedly about her mom's battle with breast cancer. And I listen to it this morning before I came in. I wasn't awake last night when the record actually was uploaded to Apple Music or Spotify, and so I heard it this morning and I was like, oh, man, it's it's a great song. I love the Dixie Chicks. And then and you know, that's a really personal and vulnerable topic and so it's a good song. She's so good at writing songs that are just real and like about a serious topic. But just trying to turn that into a song that everybody would like is hard. And she she did it. Man, it's really good. Here's Archer Awaken Peace like Uncle's Invisible and Fall. Here is Lover. Yeah, we uploaded weird. Does that song sound like that? That That it sounds yeah? Is that the album title? Love? He So those are all out. Our friend Adam Hambroke has a song called Forever Ain't long Enough if you want to check it out today All the things that good Animal to stop Me who for a while was one of the raging idiots. We needed a guitar players. So he played some shows with us. He put on a jumpsuit like the rest of us and played with us. He wrote Dan and Shay how not to He wrote somebody Else Will for Justin Moore. So and he has this song for every long Enough that came out today today Friday new music. Let's see. Zach Brown Band has a song called need This played this for you Can't get back, get down to business, Getn't drive all night, just a witness timing up black fo Days of Christmas and I know which right now? I need this? Songs that shoots all my goodness, sit this seaside I called a fitness Damn, you don't too much fun to play this. All I know is right now I need this interesting. Who is that is that him singing? Yeah? Wow? Right? It doesn't sound like him? Yeah it does. It does to me. Oh man, I felt like maybe he was letting someone else in the band sing. Oh. I don't think so you can look it up. I didn't think sought that sound exactly. I do like the sound very different. Kids, No, keep going, kid, get back down to business. Didn't job on not just maybe at that part. I don't know. I don't know. I didn't sound like him. I just assumed it was definitely a different sound. Jake Owen did a whole thing called sounds from sound check, and uh, this is never could tell the mark? Do you know things? This originally? Let me hear it, change mama. He sings it like a classic country guy, like maybe Whalen is a whale. Jenny's okay, he's singing it like Whalen. So so is this? Are these songs that he like recorded during sound check? I would assume that he recorded them and maybe patch them up a little bit. Let me see what other songs are on there. So that's out today. I wonder if it's a whole um. I guess it's not a whole it's just one song of that. So I think he's gonna put out more. I was watching his story where he was like showing different um like work tapes, this stuff. So Jake Owen has that which is a Whylan song. And I don't know if we ever talked about this, but a lot of people don't know. But Pearl Jam when they did Last Kiss, that version was a sound check recording. They never went into studio recorded Last Kiss. It's just something they got from a sound check and said, hey, we already have that, let's put that out. Yeah, So kind of same concept um like a Africa record, like an AIDS Yeah record, it's right, let's do. Midland has a new record out today and here is every song's a drinking song from the guys from drinking song. You're drinking good, you do it, don't cash if you're Jessy to get trashed song and drinking song when you're drinking. So they got a whole album out. Did I love it? Yeah? Like that like Midlands growing on me just because I think at the very beginning, and I don't mean it sounds makes sound the wrong way, but at the very beginning, it was kind of a novelty act for me, kind of just like, oh, they look cool. They look like a throwback man. They play music that sounds older. It's kind of cool. But it wasn't really not now it's like I like it. I love that their sound is like that. Grace Potter came in on the show and it was cool for us. I'm a huge Grace Potter fan. She came in and did um she did Stars, which is an older song of hers, and then we played for the first time Love is Love, which is out here is Love is Love. It'll change you can't explain. Yeah, she was super cool too. She sat right up there and I made her while I asked her. I was like, hey, just going to check out your vocal and your guitar. I need to make sure this sounds good, like I have any control of what stuff sounds, like, Like are you guys good? Now? Keep going? I'm like no, let me get a little more Mikes like I'm good. I'm like, Mike, shut up, sounds perfect. I'll keep going, Like would you be a little vocal and should be like I can't look at the star and just nail and I was like, yeah, sorry, yeah, we'll give me a little more. Okay, that sounds good. It's been a little selfish and awesome. Yeah, it's awesome. So that's out. That's new music today. Uh. Sturgill Simpson has a song called Sting sing Along Here you go. You know, he was one of the characters in that movie that they took completely off, the one where Oh the Hunt, the Hunt, which he was one of the secondary characters and had a big party. It's one of the people being hunted, and they just canceled the movie. Maybe eventually it comes out. I don't think so ever, the money was about so the movie was about these folks that are rich and then all of these they called like deplorable characters are out in the field and they get to go hunt them. I saw I saw this on TV, like I saw a commercial for They were running commercials for it, and then no, there's no way. They just trashed that. Again. Well, it come out eventually. It was right when the shootings happened in El Paso, and there was a real political connotation to it as well, which I don't think they had in mind exactly whenever they made it, but they cut the movie. And how big of a role was stur I think he was one of the people being hunted. Big acting role. Yea. They've done that before. They've delayed stuff, but never just straight up canceled it. Have they ever said they were canceling something in later because they've got to put it out at some point in some way. It's just so much money goes into making that, like time, and then that's Sturgil's big break right there as an actor. And then I remember when The Punisher was going to come out the Vegas shooting happened, and they held it back, held it back. How long do they wait on that? Probably a month? Mhmm. Yeah. They didn't say they were holding this one. They were like canceled. Wow. Yeah. Even the President was tweeting about it, like, I can't believe you would put this movie out. That's coract. What do you think about this song? This sound it's not country? He says, it's that country too, So he just kind of went a different Yeah, I'm doing a different kind of record. Interesting, I like it sounds cool. Here's one of my favorite artists, and I saw. I just saw it pop up my feet because I listened to a lot of his music. So Hobo Johnson, who Keith Urban told me about a long time ago. It's listen to Johnson. Yeah, I didn't know you liked him. I listen to everything. Publish Frank, you know who Johnson? Telling more about Hobo Johnson. This song is called Subaru Cross track nine. I think I just bought a super U cross truck up would have bought a lamb but I'm not quite there. I just the SUPERU cross struck what I bought it, But I'm not quite there yet. What's the point of being cool? Cut your hair and get a job like the rest of a student, don't play a guitar in the park and just sit. If I hear another cheek cord, I'm breaking your ship. Nothing like the Subaru cross strecks just mentioned as soft as a cute old baby neck. My clock orders club salads and look like they all singing ballads. I could have bought a Lambeau. I believe the insurance is high, and I kind of want a family. Why does dad have a Lambeau? He was send secure about himself. Son let it go nothing nice. This is you. This is like you're totally your style triding another man because he cut me off in traffic and my morning started that. I'm glad that his kids got to see that. It is down to giant cricket. There you got what he needs. Nothing like crying in a Subaru cross streck. Ever. Watch the NPR Tiny Disk concert with him. Yeah, yeah, it's awesome. Yeah, he's awkward looking his whole he's got a real band. Well that time he got discovered the Tiny Death. He submitted a video for that to be on that and that video got like more viewed, like nine million views, and it's just him like in a backyard playing with his friends, and yeah, that's cool. I have a lot of Hobo Johnson on mine. I just toltally sound like some of you would really be into a lot. I just bought a super cross shut would have bought a Lamb, But I'm not quite there. Might do anything new you saw? I like the new Long Angel Rey. What's it called it? I Love you That's what it's called. He looks around this week. Yeah, you came out today. Yeah, it sounds like it's broken a lot of effort. There you like Land right, I do. I didn't like her at the beginning. I think she has to kind of grow on you. Like that voice is just kind of you can go either way. You can hate it or love it. But I'm into it. I don't hate it. I think all this, what's that song like of her? What's our biggest song? Summer Times said sounding sadness? Yeah, thats good. What are you gonna say, Eddie? What does she look like? It's like, I think she sounds hot? Well is that even fair? Yeah? I mean yeah, some people just have those voices are just like and then people think that about me. It's like, oh, yeah, she's hot. She is? Actually, isn't she the daughter of the No, I'm thinking Rooney Mara, who's the daughter the actress, who's the daughter of one of the Giants owners. But Landa del Ray is somebody to like the Jets, one of the Jets owners, I think. So see what her relationship is with Robert England Grant? Is that her dad? Yeah? What's he do? Construction worker? And maybe I could I don't know. I used to remember these artists who like come from really rich families because I resent them a little bit. Yeah, I'm like, oh, yeah, I remember feeling I remember feeling about that, feeling like that about that could be wrong about her. I'm trying to find out what's up. Like the Strokes, I used to love the Strokes, and I still like the Strokes, but I mean they came from like I think one of the dads was a record exact and then another one had a lot of money, and it's just like, man, they had it, like they that's why they got the chance. Adam Levine rich, super rich. You can kind of see that though, Well, you know what what's happened is, in my mind says they had a bunch of money. They didn't have to like support themselves. They could just go be creative and yeah, and I'm just resemble because I didn't have that opportunity. Yeah, it's like when you don't have money, Yeah, you gotta eat, you gotta pay car insurance. I shouldn't feel that way because hopefully my kids won't have to worry about car insurance. Her dad's apparently like a rich real estate broker, so he is rich. Here are some celebrities came from wealthy families. Beyonce's dad was apparently had some money it worked at Xerox, and I guess did well for himself. I've met him before, Beyonce's dad. Oh yeah, Matthew Knowles. I have to oddly right, Yeah, he see. He seems like a good businessman, just the lead carries himself. Taylor Swift's dad was loaded, was he Yeah? And he put a bunch of money into her deal initially. He is a Mary Lynch financial advisor. Her dad is a Mary Lynch financial advisor. She grew up riding horses on her family's Pennsylvania property and spent summers in their vacation home in New Jersey. So let's see if anybody else pops up on Lanta. Del Ray went to boarding school and is the daughter of a real estate broker. She's the daughter of Rob Grand, and real estate broker and the president and CEO of Web Media Properties. Again, I'm unfair and being like it was jealous. Mostly I love it. There's a list of these people though, and their lady Gaga, what are her parents do? Um? They both attended the prestigious Convent of the Sacred Heart private Catholic school in Manhattan. I'm not sure. Maybe they got a grant for that one two grants. Probably, yeah, I know, it's these are other people that I'm looking at that aren't in music. But like, for example, Julie Louis Dreyfuss. Oh yeah, but her dad isn't Richard from major money. I was like, her dad was Richard Dryfuss. Her great great grandfather founded the Louis Dryfuss Company. They make billions in agriculture. She's I think she has she's has a billion dollars. God, that's nice. She spent much of her child in other countries before attending the whole normal school in Bethesda, Maryland. But but you know what, good for them for doing something good with their lives. They definitely could have been a burnout, which I know. Those story A lot of stories people I know, like probably most Yeah, I know, I'm just jealous. I have a buddy of mine and his dad won the lottery, and like it's just like how big a lottery? Like life changing life change a life for a lottery, not like that makes you life for a few years now, Like he quit his job and everybody was great, but then you know it's like bad. The family just went bad, Like one of them died and one of the kids drug addict, like it's just bad. So yeah, so there's that side of it. Yeah, you do have all the time to be creative, but then it's a lot you have a lot of time to just like do nothing to anything else on the agenda. MIC. That's it. It's new music here on Friday. It's the day records come out for the most part. Sometimes artists will put songs on on Wednesday and Thursday too, but what happens is there tracked from Friday to Thursday. So that's why they put them out on Friday, because it used to track on Tuesday. Yeah, I feel like new music Tuesday was a thing. Yeah, and and then it would be both. And now for the because they tracked Friday to Thursday, that's the one week span where you get your data and see how well your song did. Interesting. So if people want to be tracked properly, they put it on a Friday. Um like us, we do Reagenidas put it on like Tuesday Wednesday because we don't want to be in the mick, right, which I'll be like, look at our songs. We want to be those songs today. Just listen to ours. Our movies still coming out on Friday, to the most part um Tuesday occasionally now but for the most part fight unless it's a holiday Wednesday, they can get at a better run if they come out on a Tuesday or even a Wednesday. Still make money midweek, but yeah, still for the most part Fridays. I was having the lesson with my son today because he loves movies and I think one day he wants to be a movie maker, so I'll start giving him the lesson of just like, why do these movies come out on Christmas? Why do these movies come on Thanksgiving? He just like just the business side of it, the easy, one on one stuff. And does music interesting at all? Not as much as movies. He likes music and he's he's on top of music and he stays with current with music, but no movies. He knows everything about at him. He knows when they're in the making of like a certain movie, who's behind it, director's names, all of it. You can follow Eddie on Instagram at producer Ready. Yeah, you squinted, like you don't know? Do you follow me? Right? I do, But I don't know anybody's names. Really, It's like phone numbers once you put it in your phone back at it again, so at producer ready on Instagram. Um, check out the Sore Losers podcast, which is dudes slash sports show that these three knuckleheads do and now you can listen to that. Um, we can't wait from my thes movie podcasts and not wait. The people are just craving it. Every day I get a message not so much about your podcast. Yeah it's just random message, but you wanted to say we're also looking forward to that. My alright, well this is uh the new music on Friday. Share some with you, Hope you like some of it, appreciate you. We're gonna try to do that more of this, Um, if there's enough. Taylor came out that was a big deal and I wanted to mention that Billie Eilish to worry and it slip knot and then we just kind of put some other ones in there. We'll enjoyed it. Maybe people will like this, maybe they don't. Yeah, I'm always looking for ways to hear new music. Oh yeah, me too. There's just so much out there that almost you catch none. Now, I mean playlists are big for me, just kind of just getting on a random playlist on like Spotify or any of those and then I'll just kind of learn from there. But I did. I have a hard time remember who who. People are too like the playlist, I'll hit it, but I never I'm like, who's that song? Four songs right right, and they don't go back to it. I do. I do. And there's a sign of me getting old where I hear a song I'm like, oh my gosh, that song is just terrible, and then I heard on the radio like a few weeks later or a month later, it's like, oh, well, there we go. It might taste of music. Thank you for listening to the Bobbycast. We we but that's at point five because it's only like a half an hour episode and so we wanted to hit it. Eddie. Now you do an episode coming up next time on famous bands that had more than one singer and if it worked out well for them if it didn't, and that would be a nice little music music knowledge one for you. All right, Thank you guy, See you next time on the Bodycast.
