The kid. I didn't know what I was doing, but he knew where he was going. Just five. So we started a podcast, Gotten Drunk on Pink Thinner. Then I gave him a microphone and on Selting where Hey, everybody, what's up. It's the Giant Bomb Cast. Uh, still your only source for news and information from the world video games. It is April eleven, twenty eleven, and I am Jeff Gerstmann. You're hosting, and I'm hosting. Look at you. You had to do an intro, that's right, uh, Samirol Dave Snyder. I'm here. I I showed up. I walked I think three meters from Uh. It's not really an office. What is it death. It's a measurement for music, you know, like yeah, five bars, yeah, exact seven bars. Yeah, the first ending it's like twelve drinks. That's where I'm at right now. Okay, twelve drinks in and you're just kind of waiting for the coda so you can kind of go back to your desk and walk over here. Yeah, of course, okay, and Viney Caravel, Hey man, So this is this is the Giant Bomb Cast, right it got invite me here talking on a microphone. Yeah, all right, when is that e shop open? Late? May? All right, let's do this thing. May not yet, not yet. I've been hurt before, guy, I know's and and you know what, I think we're all going to be hurt again when the shop finally launched, scars or just about where the hell is everybody? Why am I here? Brad is out on assignment? Really? Yeah? Does he? Does he get like a special hat like we have? We have one of these hats. It's a press card right right in the band. So he is? He is out, he's flash bulbs. He flew away on a plane with all of Vinnie's flash bulbs to see some upcoming video games, and we'll hear more about those next week. I think did you take Ryan with him? No? Ryan is somewhere else. Is he also on assignment? Yes? Ryan and Drew are away on assignment. Yeah, but we're too professional for us. We only have one hat though, so it's kind of like, yeah, we gave it to Brad because I think he looks the best when he wears it. Are you saying you guys need virtual hat technology so that you can it doesn't really split it over? We need the hats to be in the cloud. Basically, if we need we need cloud hats, clouds. It sounds like something Mario would wear. Yeah, no, that's good, good, Yeah yeah, put on the cloud hat and he can, like you can float down like with the raccoon tail, but he can't fly, and then we can make people with flash bulbs. Yeah. Does that mean that he's actually the rain himself if he's under the cloud, or does that mean like when Mario pas it rains through the world, it's Nintendo. He never he never pain. The rain is crying. Yeah. Yeah, everyone knows that. It sound level ten two. Yeah, so ba. And it's a good thing that they are out this week because I was out most of last week on assignment wearing the hat. Where I was out wearing the hat. Yeah, now you're back. Yeah, well I'm back, and we'll get into some of that little later. But first I want to know, Vinny one video games have you been engaged with seven days? Well, let me tell you. I went back. This is weird, kind of weird. It's just happened to happen. This happened to happen this way. I went back and I started playing a bunch of old games because there are a bunch of new games coming out now bear with me. Okay. I played Alice the original, Yeah wow, and I play it, I mean installed, it got through like maybe half of the first elevens. I can't play this any it's tough. And remember how like cool looking that game look when it came out. It looks it looks the cut scenes are cool. But man, no, I have not played Alice but and and the reason I didn't play it is because everything about it looks terrible to me. When it was originally released colored lighting, man, that was a big deal. I had tons and tons of colored Yeah, it's it's not it doesn't control well, it's like but it was that weird time where everybody was taking like first person engines and making them into third person games and like heavy Metal Fact two, so none of them are well thought though. It wasn't like was a heretic too? That was a third person too heretic too? You've got it right, That was That was the first I think of the of the bunch. And there was a hy Metal Fact two. God, yeah, fact too? Man? Straight? Yeah, what are you talking about? What did fact stand for? Something? Kids in Satan's Service? Right, that was Yeah, that's right. I'm thinking to kiss Psycho Circle. But it came out around heavy Metal two thousand times I think. Yeah, for people that don't know of the Heavy Metal, it's the magazine. And I told you, guys, I was. I was very much. I almost considered buying an entire run of Heavy Metal Wow. And then I realized, you know what, like it's not that far from porn. Like I'm then just having like it's not even like real porn, it's like fake porn. Well, you don't want to have to hide something when you have people over. I just I like fantasy. Are you guys see my desktop when I'm coming over, there's a dragon or some lady. Sometimes it's a lady on a drag. Yeah. I even hacked my Kindle so that I could have, you know, elves, elves or fantasy, you know, stuff, so that I can recreate the embarrassment that I have anytime that I can't transportation system. But uh, yeah, I didn't do it well. So I watched the I was looking at to ask me anything we did for for Alice. The madness return, and I'm kind of glad a lot of the madness stayed behind. And the good Madness seems to be returning. Because Madness returns looks looks awesome. Like from that, ask me anything, the footage, the hair, the graphics, the combat even looks way better. You go back and you check out some original Alice, and man, everything is like, I think that game didn't come out as long ago as it looks like it came out. And it's that game like what like early two thousand, Quake three or Quake two engine I can't. I want to say it was two two. It was definitely one of the early ones. Anyway, So I played through some of that just to kind of get a feel, and I think, I think I'm just about seen enough. Maybe I'll play a little bit more. It was a hard game to install two two thousand, Okay, all right, it might look about two thousand. Uh and so then on that train I played Crisis, the original Crisis. That game came out in two thousand and seven and still looks great. That game is the best looking game out there still right now. Today, Federation assigned Ketogenic kill Zone two. What's the two part for? Why is it heavy metal ware? Square? Yeah? So two is like kill motherfucking depeche mode. Yep, okay, you can get the fact as god. That game was horrible. They needed the Madness Returns fact three. Terrible, terrible, terrible game. I never played it. It was it had like all the winnings of a weird game like Level Lord worked on. It was two thousand, yeah, because it was heavy metal. Two thousand came out like at the same time, and I think the heavy metal dude he's like married to Julie Strain somehow, and you know what else you make then put your wife in a video game? You know else? Came out two thousand. Kiss Psycho Circus. That game also not great. That was lip Tech though, wasn't it. I think? So? Yeah, yeah, all these gathering of developers here, yeah yeah, sort of so Crisis Yeah, Crisis won back to something new. Yeah, it's amazing. As I was playing through No One Lives Forever the opera, let's talk about it? Yeah, what a combat Jack's uh No One Lives Forever that came out later on? Had to that Yeah, geez really yeah, I shouldn't go back to that then, No, not combat Jack. What was the name of the combat Jack was the one that came after No One Lives Forever two, I believe the one where it was about being like one of the dominions or something. Yeah, weird game, but it's was it was it called Combat Jack. I think it was something Jack and it was like J A C. K right, like the same way that I think it was something most contract Jack. Contract Jack. Combat Jack though, that'd be way cooler. Yeah, that's like the Russian Attack version of the game. It's like Violence Jack. Yeah. Either that or it's it's like the drugs that you need to keep going Combat Jack man. They get back out there that the guy they added in Tech and I'm sorry, Nolf is totally two thousand as well. Yeah, so's there's like a lot of really weird shooters and it's like we're kind of like back at that point right now where everyone's just pumping out shooters all over the place, but now they're just all like Hall of Duty instead of instead of all being weird and dumb in their own way. Yeah, not that Alice was really a shooter, but no, it was the Raven one released last year Singularity that was in episodes, because that one kind of reminded me of this style, Like this game is kind of it's like, it's what is this weapon I have? Actually I was kind of a fan of the Singularity was pretty I liked it. It was good. Are we still talking about So we're moving up to two thousand and seven, so we're going up to two now. So so yeah, christ kind of unbelievable, and I kind of went back to it now that my computer can run it. Finally here we are in twenty eleven. Uh, it really does. It really looks way beyond anything you would have seen in the last four years. If only PC game continue, It's it's incredible. Like I just kept looking at it being like, what is going just like Crisis come out and then everyone else packed it in like all right, well I think Crisis must have come out and they had made a decision like we're gonna make Crisis, We're gonna do d X ten and like that's it. And then everybody's like nobody can run this, dude, We're gonna go make consoles. Yeah, and then they're like, well we're not, and then they said, well we are, and then they made Crisis too, which is I guess this all just ties into my my grand theory that the PC developers won the war against the console developers. But by winning the war, they all just go went to go make console games kind of and drove all of the old console developers out or or at least into the back seat. It's crazy that I'm looking forward to games looking as good as a game did in two thousand and seven. Like that's what blows my mind, is like man, like, ay, of these consoles are pretty old, right, like they're aging, but they were aging in two thousand and seven, so like now I'm not even excited for the next generation consoles. Yeah, like fuck. And also like, yes, where are the good looking PC games they're not having anywhere? Because like I've been playing a lot of Shift recently or Shift too, Yeah, I guess it's not need for it's just shift to Shift too unleashed. Sure, and then there's a need for speed logo on the box. So I've been playing that and I haven't like fully cranked up. You know, the first Shift was okay, it was all you know, is whatever, But playing this one definitely can tell. It's like, yeah, this game looks all right, but you can definitely tell it is a console you know, sort of made game for. Yeah, it just has like the same sort of those weird blur effects that you get to obscure everything that you get in like a three sixty game, which is you know, it's it's fine. But I think that's kind of what's happening is when you get the PC games, maybe you'll get you know, a much high resolution or you know, a little bit uh different with some of the effects, but for the most part, like they're if they're not big, huge, you know releases like a Crisis to where people sort of expect stuff you're just gonna get, you know, a couple different toggles, but I don't. Yeah, And and like from a business perspective, why wouldn't they do that if they're selling the majority of their copies on three sixty, Like, at what point, how many more copies are they selling on the PC if they put in all that extra word Yeah, I mean, but at the same time, you want that game to come out that you can't play yet, what kind of because it's like the flip side of that coin is I had to wait four years to play freaking Crisis because that's I don't want to play the game list and then play it and go like, wait, this actually isn't that fun? No, it was pretty much what everybody had said. It was like, oh, this is okay, it's cool, and like the back half kind of lags a bit. And I had played when it originally came out and got kind of bored and got frustrated because I couldn't max it out and nothing could at the time. And now I was able to do it kind of smoothly. And then I started playing Crisis Word and then I got burned out and I was like all right, and then I was like, oh, maybe i'll play Crisis too now. And then there I went on the forums and I was looking around and they're like, yeah, we're I think we're gonna put out a d X eleven patch. Yeah, they finally came forward and said hey, you know they kind of had been dicey about it for a while. Yea over the weekend, I guess they came out and said like, yeah, we're gonna do with the ex eleven patch, even though everyone's already probably finished the game. Who's gonna play it by now in the PC? So there's like, no, maybe in twenty fourteen. I don't know Crisis Too, but that company, you know it even even far cry the original Far Cry still looks great. I haven't gone back to Far Far Cry Still Shirt plays great twenty eleven. It's still one of those games you open up, what is it about that you that you really like, because it's just it never clicked with me. Ever, I think it was the Crisis One same deal. I think it was the first first person shooter that I can remember that did the open world stuff really well. And so yeah, and they had its mission to mission kind of stuff, but you the first time you played it, you just kind of thought that's the way that you were supposed to play it, and then you realized, you know, in a couple of different playthroughs, that you just go wherever you want in that game, and it totally worked out, and you could snipe from forever away and it just had like a freedom level that kind of wasn't around. And I think also at the time that thing came out, nobody did water the way that that game right water, and you were just like, wait, what this The waves are moving. It's not just like you know, Team Fortress where I just put in a Voodoo card and I can now see through the water. Yeah. I was impressed. Yeah, visually that game, I totally got lost though, like too much too soon for me, where it's just like I don't know, I'm running around the jungle and I walk into a guy's shoe and then I'm dead, and I'm not really sure where I'm supposed to go? What is my objective here? Eventually I got it, but I think that was my problem with it, is that it felt a little too loose and that I'd be on my knees crawling up to like a checkpoint or something, and suddenly I'd like literally crawl into the dude's knees and be like, ash, shit, you wanted more of a Viet Cong experience. Yeah, still still in the jungle, but you know, lad, you know, a little bit on your way, a little purple haze. Yes, well, all games, this is what happens for you guys, Invite me in. We just started talking about ten years ago, right, Yeah, the last time you played a lot of videos? Yeah sure, why not? So? Yeah, so you spent your whole weekend playing through Christis. I really did. I played through the entire game of Crisis and and basically two sittings I played some Dragon Age two as well. Got back in there. How's that going. Uh, it's the same, same, Still still trucking along, still chopping dudes in half, and you know, making bad choices. I'll finish that game moving along, and that's about it. Really, Crisis one took up most of my time. I feel like there was something else I was done there. I played some Mortal Kombat demo. M that's fun. I saw I saw it on like the PlayStation stores. I never downloaded this, right, and I was like, I download this while I finished Crisis and then played that. So yeah, that was kind of it. It was really sad to say it was mostly Crisis, not not you know whatever. Now I'm caught up. I'm ready. Yeah, now you're ready for the super clear events of Crisis too. That just tie right into those just picks up like minutes later exactly. Yeah, totally explains itself. The story is a key component. Yeah, you can really enjoy Crisis too because you played Crisis. I feel like I've got this is it. This is my last week to clear up all to tie up all those loose ends before games really start coming out in force next week. Right, But then it's I mean it's just next week. It's not like the week after that. There's more. So I got played through every Mortal Kombat game. Make sure I'm up up to stuff on the story, every socom, make sure the story threads all tied together, and every portal, every single portal. I gotta go through the whole and up to two. I'll probably stop right before give your six button Genesis control already for moral combat. Yeah, yeah, man, maybe I don't think I own that anymore. I think I got rid of it. I never liked that controller. Actually, I like the buttons on one of my favorite strollers. They're real, they're real kind in there. They're a real, real loose steepad on that thing. But I think it worked well for yeah, for the fighting games that I was mostly used for. Like it. It made rolls great. It's kind of funny how like controllers sometimes people talk about them almost like old guitars or something like, yeah, you know that ninety three Genesis, like they had a roll on it. They didn't duplicate, they don't really make it like they did a reissue, but there's never the same. Japanese Saturn pads were the best ones. The cream color was real nice. Yourself an original, man, don't don't accept anything else. You can get those Asky fight pads they did for the Dreamcast. Those are pretty good too, but you know, they don't have both controllers slots. I don't think you can put a rumble pack and a VMU in it at some times. So that was it for me. So I'm putting down my hand. You've been playing Shift too, I've been playing Shift too. I don't know I had like all these choices. It was, you know, like Showgun two, and if you touched that at all, I'm not I downloaded it, But to be honest, I haven't had like the twenty hours that you need to to like really dive deep into it. I'm mostly I've sad and watched my cornplay a whole lot of it, and it looks great, like it does it. That game looks awesome. It looks like they fixed a lot of this stuff that people didn't like about the last two. And the bigger one is that it's not muskets anymore, you know, like that really changed the strategy of the last two games, where you'd have to just really really wait up and sort of line your shots, and now it's back to a lot more melee battles. So throw guys. Yeah, you know, it's more about you know, positioning and stuff, where before you really just had to get that first barage out? Are there tactics? Since that tactics are there, is there like diplomacy in this There is the cooler thing that they've done over the last two games, which is really neat, is they've made the multiplayer stuff really kind of cool, where you'll play the main campaign and as you do the battles in the main single player campaign, you just say I'd like to play a human opponent and it'll just it'll hook you up and it'll play sort of on that on that battlefield and you can play it out that way. The other cool thing is it'll keep a separate map for your multiplayer, so you're leveling up and sort of progressing through Japan in a separate sort of where you're opening up and you know, it's kind of got an unlocked system, but it's through sort of a tree based kind of thing. That's it's actually really neat for like an RTS game, Like if you if you like those type of games and you don't mind the sort of the the sort of craziness of you know, learning one of those types of games, then it's great. So that's a game that is never going to come to a console pretty much never. How come those games don't look like Knock your socks off Crazy two looks pretty good. I guess because I have so much stuff going on. I think most of those games don't look good because strategy games don't necessarily need to look good. Yeah, I mean there's not much make the White Triangle Attack the Red Octagon. Games that always looked great were always big action games. I mean they're for better or where it's the you know, the blockbusters of the video game world, and that's no different on the PC than it is on consoles. So but yeah, it's kind of disappointing to pick up something like Shift Too and be like, you know, you're going to get playing with the wheel, play shift out with the wheel? Yeah, how's it working out? How's you're shifting? The shift? Games are weird. They don't set up the wheel like by default, really really really loose first other games, So they're fine once you go and fiddle with the controls a lot, but I feel that you don't necessarily need to do that in something like an Xbox game or in a Code Masters game. They just kind of work where the Shift series, you definitely, Wheel is kind of like an afterthought with their series, where with the Code Masters guys, they're like, no Dirt too, we are going to make this game like you were playing this on a wheel. It's like Shift. The Shift games seem like they were just kind of invented out of this weird need to compete with like Fortza and Grand Reason Mod of some extent. Yeah, they don't, they don't feel I haven't played a ton of Shift Too, but I did review Shift one and it just felt like it wasn't even in the same league. It's like a real, you know, console base. I think the term that racing fans like to use with the Shift series is buttery, like good or bad. It's bad. It's basically that you just you don't you think about something like GTA five or about a Dirt series. Yeah, yeah, is that you you feel that physics, You feel like as you will make it turn to the right, you can feel yourself kind of slipping out a little bit the wheel. Yeah, but also just the little bit of adjustments, not only just the wheel, but just the actual feeling where the other ones and it's hard it's hard to describe it. It's like talking about headphones, you know, racing fans are kind of nuts with that kind of stuff, But talking about controllers game pads, the Shift series has never felt all that great. The other weird thing with that game is you have to race a shitload before you start getting new cards, and like that's a bummer to me. Like when you you know, it's cool, I like progression, I like, you know, having to level yourself up so that you get places, But that game you're definitely putting in I want to say, like fifteen races before you're in a different car than the first one you bought, which is kind of tough. And it also starts you out on those super kind of technical courses, which I don't know, it's not that's sort of the best thing, you think. A lot of people are still playing Grand Trees now, Yeah, yeah, absolutely, have you jumped back in. Yeah, I played it, and there's always races going on, and there's nothing else like it on the PlayStation three. So those people even by default, like like people who like that type of game, that is that type of game for that So just like there's nothing like Fours on the three sixty and people play that one role. That's true, think you playing. I wonder how sales did on Grand Trees, Well, I bet they did really good out of the gate and kind of fell off a little bit. Maybe I'm saying that that genre is probably not as big as it used to be. Like, I don't think that's definitely true. I imagine that's a game that probably did just fine in Europe and Japan, uh where, where Sony still is is king in a lot of cases. But I think there's a new one being worked on as we speak. Grant imagine they're still working on updates for GT five. They always said it was going to be like a big, like progression, big DLC game, and they have released stuff for that game, not necessarily like paid DLC, but they've they've been patching it and fixing stuff over since it's released. The racing platform, I am more or less when you can watch like Top Year races or something in that thing, like they have a video and all that stuff, like yeah, yeah, like pay per view video stuff, and that's exactly what I want to do. Why would I go to YouTube when I could pay three dollars per video? You have to buy it. Yeah, oh yeah, not pay per views. Some of it's like rental. Okay, yeah, it's pretty silly. What do I know from racing games? Yeah, they're fun. Push I mean push the gas button. Yeah. Nice thing about racing games. It is pretty much like any other, you know, sort of strategy game. It's like you just have to spend a lot of time with it to get good at That's why I like him. And you're having a wheel you like, it's kind of nice having a feedback in a video game that's not It's a four trailer that it leaked out. I guess it was never officially released, but it came out on the first so there were some people that were like, this is an April Fools thing. But it's like, no one's going to create a trailer for a game that doesn't have enough footage out there for people to fake a trailer. So did it stick around? Is it still around? I think it might be still around, but it had like four internal use only kindled across it and stuff, so it looks like some kind of marketing video or something. But it shows a lot of stuff that they showed back at E three with like the connect, like you connect to open doors and walk around cars and stuff. Uh so that made it look legit, but then it also showed the racing and it looked pretty damn good. Yeah, it's tough when they start fiddling too much with the immersion stuff Like shift too has that weird helmet cam stuff in it, which is great, like if you can get used to it, But the bad part is that it essentially makes you think that you're turning when you're not, because your eyes will look the turn right, so you don't necessarily you don't get as enough you know, feedback, because you can't like feel the car moves. But yeah, it's buttery. It's a little buttery. Yeah. So that's one of the things that I thought would be really cool about it because I'm normally a cockpit driver, but I immediately switched out of that. Luckily they have just a regular generic cockpit mode which works. Line all right, maybe you can sell me on this, maybe you can you can help me wrap my mind around this as well, which going to deconstruct racing games. Yeah, cockpit view, what's the appeal of having like something in the way that prevents you from seeing like about half of the screen. To me, the bigger thing is when you are driving in cockpit mode, you're actually turning a lot more so the if you actually think of the movement that you're moving from what I've always noticed, the actual you think of it as a wheel, right, your radius of movement, yeah, is much higher than if you were in an outside view where it's kind of twitchy. Right. So yeah, with racing sims, I play from like the bumper or whatever. I play basically the first person view, so I still get the gauge that says I fast I'm going, and still get like the rear view mirror, but I actually get to see all of the road. That seems like the most effective way to play. It's it, I guess, and it's it's an immersion thing for me. I like racing games because they look cool, and I like the distinction when I'm buying different cars. You know, it's like saying like, oh, you don't get to see yoh yeah, just change your avatar. Imagine like an MMO game that you played in first person. Yeah you could, you know, you could totally play it in first person, but then you don't get to see all the cool shit you put on yourself, you know. So it's Merlock's is why you you've played, because yes, I want a drive a drivable Merlock if I could. All right, but it's definitely it's an immergent thing. But I think that's why a lot of people play and step playing the weird uh you know, third person view? Okay, so yeah, yeah, it's I used to try to play racing Sims from the third person view and eventually evolved to the point where I, kid, can't really do that anymore. If you play it like yeah, and if you play it in something like dirt to where you know, if you crash the car, it's it's cracking windshields and stuff like that makes the game neat, Like that can be pretty cool. Yeah, uh, anything else that you've been playing. Now, I got I was kayaking and I lost my iPhone and h and you can see my Twitter and there's like this really cool like look at me, I'm on a kayak. There's San Francisco. And then I got a bunch of these messages that were like, are you a fucking idiot? And then it turns out yes, I am a fucking idiot, because like ten minutes later, I was totally in the water with my iPhone wait flipped over? Yeah, oh no. Yeah. So then I'm you know, first of all, extremely happy that I was able to get back in because it's like one of those sea kaya accident. It's like tough to get back in. Didn't die in pneumonia, but it was a cold fucking Scott San Francisco. Yeah. And then uh yeah, so I picked up Android. I got a wait, no, it was in my life perverse preserve because I was like, man, I've been on this. I've been out here a bunch, Like why when the funk would I ever fall over? And I just so, I just got soaked. Yeah, I went it was in my I still have and then it was like sea water. And then I was like, so I never dry it didn't dry out and start working again. At some point I didn't give it that kind of time. I was just like, I need tweet right now. Yeah. I just got back in my kayak. Yeah yeah exactly, So what are you rocking? So I just moved. I moved to that Atrix thing and all the tested cats. We're talking about it, you're on it. Yeah. I just wanted to move away from the iPhone stuff. I've been really tired of not so much the iPhone, but iTunes, like all they're crazy. You know, this is no music player. This is a store concept stuff. So this is a lot more like a little Linux browser again or Linux so as. So I can just tweak the hell a lot of it, which kind of fun. But I'm sure it'll get old. Yeah, you know, the same as everything else. My phone hardly works anymore. Yeah, what happened? It's just my little three gs. Just man, the thing doesn't run. You know. I heard that Zara Juicy is Zora Juicy? Yeah, zoa Gerusci. I heard that they make if they're making a phone, yeah, because it stays hot for hour. Yeah, I heard they sold out of our Somebody sent me a tweet. They're like they're back in stock. The thermisis Yeah, this is I hate this. We our business guy needs to be on this because like, why would Zojerushi pay? Did you also see Yeah, but did you see the related products where it was like deadly premonition? Right? No, sets, what world are we living in? Both a fantastic Japanese products, Sure people know quality? Yeah whatever. When people get that thing and realize it only holds seventeen ounces, they're all going to be sorely disappointed talking about that premonition. Yeah, yeah, that's always budget title. You know. Well, well you've been paying. So I went on a trip last week to see Capcom's coming lineup while I was out on assignment to see a batch of games from them. I guess about seven games and all h some playable, some not. And yeah, they made a couple of announcements. What's up with Miami? Yeah, I was in Miami. It seemed kind of it was in Miami. Yeah, that's weird. I had never been to Miami. Well it's it's weird until you realize is that they're like that people from all over the world are coming in, so they try to find a place that makes sense for multiple regions so for the trip. And they didn't in Hawaii last year. So the people flying in from Japan didn't have as long as a flight, but the people in Europe were screwed. So Miami, the people flying in from Europe didn't do it. Okay, the people from Japan, you know, end up traveling for Did you eat Uh No, I didn't. I have eaten plantains before, but just not in Miami. Miami was a little grimy, it's dirty. It's dirty. Yeah, no offense people on Well, I guess I've already lost that. But it's it's the humidity is the big thing that I always think of when I get like, I just remember always getting out of a plane and then immediately just feel like I'm sweating. Well, yeah, because you are. Yeah, and it was raining when we landed, so it was like hot rain, which is thought, that's just crying hot Mario appears. Yeah, I don't know. Miami did not. It did not blow me away. Granted, I was like pretty much staying and you're a conference center, so we could see video games and didn't really get out to see much of anything else, so I didn't necessarily get all touristy and stuff. But we were staying right on a one a beach front avenue. Yeah, now you know what the last four days of my life were like, Oh, that's like that vanilla great? Great? Were the girl's on standby? No, well, were they waiting just to say hi? Not to me? But there was a so okay, so before we talk about games, the the last night that I was there, the fire alarm went off at three thirty in the morning. Okay, did you and you got out. Yeah, I see when that happens that now you're just staying in your room. Yeah. Have they do room checks? No, this is like filling out census I do. It's one of those group communication things. I never had. It happened at a hotel before, so I was super confused. So so for starters, I was asleep, So I jump up and there's this ru and I couldn't figure out what it was, the blinking strow lights and for like twenty seconds in the in the halls, yeah, in the room. No, So it's just siren noise and it's kind of in the direction of my laptop. So I'm like, is my laptop freaking out? Like would I leave a streaming audio on going or Miami waking up? There you go. So then a voice came on and said a fire alarm whatever, you should get out of the building. So I decided I should put on some clothes and then went, oh, way, I should probably get my phone and oh wait, I should probably put on shoes, and then kind of stepped out of the hallway and there were a bunch of people up and down the hallway kind of looking out, also unsure about what to do, and one guy, I was like, I don't know where the exit is. It's like, it's right, there's one right there. It's on the door, the one right there, one right there, don't they have on the door. Well there were people there who were not from the United States, so not that, but it's it's it's like that around the world. Anyway. It was three thirty in the morning, so cut that guy some slacks. So I decide I'm gonna go downstairs. It turns out there's a nightclub in this place. Yeah, there is. It was Miami, which explains why through the entire trip all I could hear was was it was it was it the sound machine? Yeah, I believe the sound machine was there. Lisa, Lisa and Cole also were playing. So I'm getting down there and like they're kind of like getting people out of the club and I'm just kind of like standing there in shorts and a T shirt and you know, shoes and like trying to figure out what the hell is going on. And I walk up to one of the bouncers who's like super confused to see me and isn't sure, but it was like and I'm like, so we're revacuating like what should I do is like stand over here, all right? Whatever? So I end up walking outside and people are leaving the club and getting into cars and stuff, and it's just like the worst the worst people. Did you have a teddy bear with you? I did not. I did not, but I probably looked bad. It probably looks like, you know, it's seen some some better days or whatever. But so it's just like a bunch of girls in like tight dresses and like really just like scummy looking dudes with fake tans and stuff getting out there. And there's a girl from Jersey with her friend talking to this guy who had what sounded like a fake French accents and and and she asked him, what you're dancing is really good? What do you think you're dancing in? Peri? And at that point I was just like, fucking looseness, is this even happening anymore? Like, like what is going on? Uh? Practically, that's practically what was coming out of this dude's mouth. And I was like, man, he's getting over that's great, this is good for him. Uh. I don't necessarily believe that that that accent was for real, because it was. It was pretty bad. And then I realized, like, no one else from this event is down is down there because they were sleeping. Apparently, as it turns out, some people were still out. There was everywhere Like the last night there, a bunch of people went out for like karaoke, but you were on assignment, so you had gone to assignment. So I just I did some writing and then and told myself like, oh, I'll get some stuff done because I had some paperwork I had to finish up, and and then maybe I'll go meet guys later. And then instead I laid down and that was that. Then Miami wouldn't let you sleep, yeah, exactly. And then, as it turns out, the alarm only went off on a couple of floors. I don't see. This is what I just don't trust. I ended up standing out there for like forty five minutes and started like freaking out, going like man, no, I sure hope that like everyone else that came to this event isn't on fire somewhere. It's like, oh, I guess I'll have like hot exclusive scoops if they do. And it turns out most when we're still out and then most of them were on floors that didn't have the fire alarm, I scoop, that's right, school, but you love there put the girls, both of you what about it? And he says like what about your friend or what about your friend and referring to something out There was two girls. She doesn't speak Francie, and the girl goes forget about friends. This is Miami, like like she like it. Just it sounded like someone who would never have been on vacation before and was going to like sex their way through town as hard as possible. And then just these local dudes, We're gonna put on fake French accents and just pick them off one by one all night every night. No, I think to to we also need to like have super gray hair and and and look like failure. Those The other big kind of archetype was old dude with girl that is way younger and hotter than than he should have to back going around that place too. So yeah, it's just it was like this awesome, you know, like group of people seeing video games, like interesting people, you know, interesting stuff there, like just surrounded by just abject sadness. And I was just like, man, this is I'm really getting pulled in a lot of directions here, guys. Let's go to Orlando. Yeah, so what'd you see? That's it? Really? I blew off all the other stuff. No, went back to that club. It was a pretty good club. Yeah, it was so Capcom made a couple of announcements. They finally just came out and said that they are going to do Super street Fighter for Arcade edition for home consoles. It's official, it's official way for home consoles instead of just the arcade of just the arcade. So there's now we're getting another version version of Street Fighter for I swear why it's the nineties all over again. It sounds crazy. Well, so the good part this time is that they are going to offer it both ways. It'll be DLC for Super street Fighter four, So no more forty dollars games that I gotta pay for provided you already owned Super street Fighter four. So, like I said, they're doing it both ways, so you can pay fifteen bucks and get it as DLC and that'll be like early June. What I actually have it written down here, got my notes. That'll be June seventh. And then if you want it on disc, they're gonna just do the whole thing as a disc. I don't know what the pricing is for that, but that'll be like end of June, like twenty fourth in Europe, twenty eighth. So what did I miss in the arcade version? It's four more characters. It's Yun and Yang from Street Fighter three. The twins got the roller blades and the skateboard, which I have never thought were good characters. So so you're selling it? Yeah, So what else will the other two evil? Were you and Ony who is basically an evil or a Kuma. I was just gonna say, I always thought a Kuma was evil. Yeah, so they added two more characters with dragon punches and the Raging Demon. And you know, it's when we had Jared in here, I think he even said it. Uh, And it's it's something that I've kind of heard from a few different people is that they've rebalanced the game in a lot of ways that that people don't seem to be too into. So there's that they're also adding like new replay channel stuff like you'd be able to follow players and get all their replays sent to you directly. So there's dudes that you really like watching fight, you can you can seek them out. Uh, that's got It's got a pretty decent. That's a pretty beefy roster. I think that's thirty nine characters now, yeah, so that's uh, that's pretty crazy. So my four will still be there. Yeah right, yeah, so doing that. And they also announced a game called Dragons Dogma okay, which that's you're not you don't have it wrong. That's that is a bad name for a game. If you're sitting there, gonna stick on what Kevin Smith's new fantasy series, right, yeah, starring Sean Connery as the Dragon. Uh, and this is gonna be an action game from basically everyone who works at Capcom everybody left, Uh, that's uh. The guys at the top are Devil Are Devil May Cry, guys like Kobyashi, and it's who know who works on Classic DMC four and MC three and uh yeah, I don't know. They say it's the largest team they've ever had working on a game, and it's it's it's an open world game and it's an action game but not necessarily crazy like a Devil May Cry combo system sort of what it's fantasy. Yes, it's like, yeah, it's it's like a Dragons There are swords, swords and bows and magics. Three Classes, Your Maids, Your Fighter, and the Strider. It looked like a Western RPG, at least from its look. I don't know, it's good. Yeah, it looks like Japanese Kingdoms of Malore reckoning, or maybe like Japanese oblivion. But here's the way that I judge them by the dragons that are in them. Like if the dragons you either have like a you know, this very classic sort of Western style dragon that kind of look like what they had, I judged that hydra they yeah it's sick griffin. Yeah, those are you know more. There are a couple of things, yeah, but like there are a couple of tells that are like, oh Japan, it's the people camera. Yeah, it's the little midget gesture, some of the body things, like there's a there's a there's a lot of slow motion reaching at the camera like I'm gonna grab this thing that's out of focus, Like oh, but I mean falling at the same time fantasy. And then uh, and then there's the rock and guitar solos. Yeah, rockets. Wow, where did you come from? Japan? Yeah? Yeah, so it looks it it's it's a Cacom has been doing a lot of games with Western developers. Uh, this is not one of them. This just seems like them attempting to make a more Western type of fantasy action game. And it seemed like it could go multiple ways. It could be, like I said, it could be like Japanese Oblivion, or it's third person, so it could be like the Kingdoms of amalor game that yeah, they're really they're copying from the Germans this time. Yeah. Or it could be like single player Monster Hunter, because you're gonna be rolling with three Ai dudes that you can give like a few commands to. Yeah, that's that's kind of my my bigger worries. I think this is going to be a single player MMO style with like the narrative not being super tight and that that I don't know what it is about it, Like some Japanese let's just say, medieval slash fantasy stuff, always something real loose about a lot of that stuff, And and they didn't really have a lot of great firm answers about how you'd be getting quests and how that sort of stuff would be working. Instead, it was like they seemed very excited that it was open world. Is like you'll see a monster in the mountains and you can go fight him like okay, all right, cool capture Why like, like, how do I you know? They wouldn't really say if there was a dialogue system or you know, or what it was going to be, like, they didn't seem to to want to go to in depth about that stuff. It's out next year. I will say that, you know, they had a kind of a brief playable version there. You fought that griffin. It's in the trailer, and I think that tells a better tale, Like like hearing them describe it and playing it is more interesting than the trailers they put out. The trailers I think kind of sell it a little short scope wise. I mean from an action perspective, that trailer didn't necessarily look like a Devil May Cry style. It's definitely not that kind of combo driven in Crazy game. But at the same time, like it's not going to have deep RPG elements or anything. You're not gonna have like magic points. It's gonna be like rechargeable recharging stam in a bar that governs when you can use your bill aties or whatever. Well, from the trailer that we saw before, it looked like a lot of strafing and popping off arrows around like locking onto a target. Yeah, they showed a lot of this. That's the Strider class, the Ranger basically so far enough, a bunch a lot of arrows stuff in that. I guess when dude climbed on a griffin. Yeah, so basically, like they have like the trigger button, the right trigger or R two is mapped to grab and you can use that to just pick up dudes, so they'll be like goblins, you can just pick them up and throw them at other goblins. Or yeah, when you're fighting the griffin, you can just grab onto the griffin to crawl up onto his back and start stabbing him, which was pretty satisfying. Yeah, well he's still flying. Yeah, he's still flying around and kind of trying to trying to get away. It's kind of satisfying in that like shadow of a Colossus sort of way of here's this big thing that I'm ripping up. Yeah, like it's kind of saddened away. I don't know what that griffin whatever. That griffin was on the attack man. Griffin's are normally fairly friendly. That this one. Well, you're like, wow, griffin Griffins are not I don't know too much about. How do you like because they looked like eagles? Do you think griffin should be spelled g r y P? Yeah? Why how are they spelling g r I F F I N what that might just be? That's like a friend of translation in progress. That's like a fancy guy that lives in bel air, right, like, Yeah, Griffin, I talked to my friend Griff d J Griff the crime dog. What is she McGruff? Same thing? Dragons dogma, yeah, apostrophe es yes, aposphoe esky and a dragon speaks to you through his heart. Yes, a dragon speaks, yes, yes, you dragon calls out to you, and you do quests for a dragon. Okay, it's Note Connery. I don't think it's Jean Connery. They haven't really said any neither confirmed as an evil dragon, like I want one that like just wants to hoard gold, Like wouldn't that be fun? So I guess the reason for the names that the dragon is going to be teaching you. It's dogma what I don't know. I don't know. Until you will learn how to hoard goal, I guess. Yeah, I gotta do Son, you gotta get you gotta get yours. You gotta get a treasure pile and get a princess. Put the princess on top of the treasure pile. Sleep in front of the treasure pile. Anyone comes up on it trying to get what you got. You gotta be ready. Do you want to retire young yourself? Treasure pile? Oh man? What else? Dead Rising too? Colan? Off the record. I can't tell you about it. It's off the record. Tell me about it. So that one you do need a special hat, I'll tell you. I'll tell you about it, but you can't write anything about it. This is all This is bargo. This is off the records. Off the records, off the record. Hold on a second. I just turned off my voice recording. Okay, great, all right, tell me so tell me about So what if Dead Rising two had Frank West in it instead of cha? What was that? What? I'm sorry you said? What what if you played as Frank West instead of Chuck Green in Dead Rising two? That would probably be slightly different, but probably a lot of the same. Yeah, would I still be picking up weird weapons? Again? There will be new combo weapons in the game, so it's basically exactly as it sounds it's the events of Dead Rising two, but kind of spun off in a different direction because you're playing is a different guy. This is a game that is going to be on disc. This is not I know you're sitting there going, oh, well, it's a DLC add on. No, this is a re separate product that they originally started as a Dead Rising two director's cut and then decided, well, what if we put Frank West in it? So does that mean the director actually wanted to put Frank West in at the entire time? Who can say? Just make it fucking get fine? All right? Player two will play as Chuck Green in the co op. Really yeah? So the big difference I saw was the opening scene is no longer motorcycle race, now wrestling. Yeah, Frank West Unitard wrestling zombies doing spinning lariats, and he's big. Yeah, he's he's packed on some weight. So basically the story is that he's fallen on hard times. He out of the Willamette incident, he became a big hero and uh, you know, basically did a bunch of bad endorsement deals. Listen to the Dragon. He's basically like a reality TV star or something at this point or you know, something like that, and they make jokes at the beginning that he's hawking like baldness remedies. Now, so he's kind of come back on the show as a means to kick start his career. But then he catches that TK guy basically doing bad stuff, doing bad stuff, like almost immediately takes out his camera, starts taking shots, and then he's in it, and then he's in it. So so I said, when you said that no more than a couple of hours ago, I said, well, you know, the only thing that would make me excited about this is if they're there's Frank West saying here's what I would have done, and that's exactly how exactly, And so I just kind of back on board because it the only way that the only way that sounds interesting to me is if it's like ridiculous and it's like his version, not a developer designer saying here's what would have happened with Frank West in the game. It's Frank West being like, here's what would have happened with Frank West in the game. I wanted to be a weird dream scenario where like every time he looks in the mirror, he is not Frank West, and if he can't figure it out, like just I want give me like some weird plot story. Well, like every time he looks maybe he looks awesome. He's like super skinny and Bob yeah kick ass. So I hope, I hope it's different enough, and I hope it's I mean, that's a pretty quirky series. Yeah, so I hope they embrace that in this altered Yeah. I'm often you know, like I said, photography is back, so you know you can get pp by taking pictures Jody. Yeah. Yeah. Or there's erotica and horror and and all that same stuff, and you know, the story will unfold differently and it'll probably skew off in some different directions. They said that there is one new area in the game that is not a mall or a casino. I don't know what it would be, but Terror is reality playground. Maybe it's a Miami hotel. Yeah, it's a Miami hotel with a fire alarm constantly going off. So did they give any sort of like pricing or not that I've seen. Yeah. I imagine that maybe after they record this, they will put out some text release or something that that might say, but so far it's that trailer and some other stuff. Cop Come is a pretty good track record though, of not pricing their stuff when they do these kind of things. They seem to be recently they do well. They did the street Fighter four making that forty bucks, but all their PC games stuff too, like Dead Rising was I mean most almost everything was no forty bucks. And this will be coming to PC as well. Speaking of which, Super street Fighter four Arcade edition will be coming to the PC. Wow, Yeah, they didn't put out super regularly regular super there, but they are going to do it, so yeah, I don't know. It's uh. They say that they're taking the feedback into consideration based on stuff from Dead Rising too, so I did say, yeah, okay, So I straight up asked, will will you be able to drop off survivors by just walking near the room and he seemed not. I we're not talking about that right now. It's kind of what how a lot of that. That's what Frank West would do well. In case West, you just found the dudes and they ran off on their own, right, That's what Brat said. I hadn't made it through it yet. Yeah, maybe I'll do that and you want have to escort anybody back at all, right, and their blessing and got a lot of health. Run just after me. Once you get out of the zone, I don't even care what happens. So yeah, like it's it's from what I've seen and from hearing them describe it, it just seems like a tough cell. It's like, here's this game, and they played like the first fifteen minutes of it, and it's like, yeah, there's the steps that lead out of the terrorists reality arena, and I know if I go right beyond that door, there's gonna be a little kiosk and maybe that girl will be up there with a gun, but I would know. It's it's it's if you told me that they took they took Dead Rising too, and they were refined. They said, okay, we needed to make Dead Rising two this way. Now we don't really have to make it anyway. And they took it and they're like, we're just gonna have fun with it. You can, like you can let the survivors go off. That's fun. There's the missions are a little looser and like just sand box it up. Here are these broken weapons that just make you totally invincible. I'd be down, and you start out a little more powerful too, and increase by about twenty five percent. Yeah, everything is just kind of more arcady and less like taking itself seriously. I could be down for like some real goofy Dead Rising too fun maybe in that universe for forty fives, but like in that universe, yes, in that same environment, Like that's that's where it becomes a stretch to me where I'm like, Okay, I already know this area. I don't want to go through it in Yeah, that's where it kind of it's all about the weapons. It's like I think it's literally if they and and I don't think the story is good enough to necessarily want to see it unfold in a like slightly different way. But yeah, it will have new combo weapons, so there will be that. If they maybe they'll have a universal chest where you can like leave your weapons in there. Like that's what I'm saying. If they just if they go in there and it's like, how that's not gonna say, Like if they just fixed the stuff that was busted about Dead Rising Too, then it's like, well you should put out this game the first time? What the hell, right, that's that's like a really right do you remember a really massochistic way to look at business? If you're like, oh yeah, I'll totally give you another forty to sixty dollars, try it again for a refined version of this game that I already bought. Like, that's it's kind of messed up up, kind of messed up. I feel the Dead Rising games you pretty much just go in, like everybody gets that high when they get into it, and they're like they spend about twelve hours or something, and then they're like this gaps great, and then it just then it just all yeah, and you just can't. It's a grind to become a bit of a grind. Yeah. No, You're totally right. It's messed up. I'm saying. The only thing that might make it slightly appealing, Yeah, I mean I see that there is some kind of if they left all that stuff the same and just told me I was using Frank West like man, no way, like if it was just a reskin with some extra voice work, and then like slightly different encounters. I can't go through all that combo weapons stuff and the bringing survivors back in those low times. I can't I can't do it. One thing they did come out and say directly is that the low times will be better. Still can't do it. Yeah, like you gotta give me a little more. Something shoots all the survivors it needs. I want to. I want that game to mix with Alan Wake. Give me the fun of Dead Rising and kind of like that story kind of driven stuff from Alan Wake, the weirdness, Like if you get Amy that in a Dead Rising game, I would love it. But like I it's like you you can't get both out of a game for some reason. You can't get you know, them running around with the flashlight like that rand remember how boring that got in that game and the real closed off type stuff. But see, I just want to even create I like want giant beam weapons and Dead Rising too, Like I want to just turn on a giant thing and like like basically evaporate everything in mine. You want more sandbox less, Yeah, I want more like Red Faction like style craziness, And now I want to topple a building on top of like zombies. Uh, because that's you know, the weapons breaking and stuff that's kind of annoying. Like I want to be able to just carve a path through zombies, especially if I'm basically giving you forty dollars to make me go back into it. Who knows, Yeah, yeah, it's probably eighty dollars. Yeah, if I'm giving you more money to have the same experience, like basically you should just give me developer and console in that game at that point, Yeah, do would you want? Yea spawn more exploding barrels? Yes? Anyway, what else you see? What else? Street Fighter Cross techn Okay, which is the street Fighter versus Techen game. How did they say how many characters would be in that all? So they showed ten, which is like a pretty good first you know, look to already have ten characters, is it there? Basic? Basic eight and like Bison or something in there. It's it's five and five right now. Side. So they want to, uh, they want to announce characters in pairs and and have them kind of match up in a way, so you know, like reu and because you kind of pair off the dragon and the demon. Yeah yeah, the devil, the Devil, come on, be my dogmas messing. So you know, they kind of showed characters kind of with their partners or whatever. You can picture like Mardik being kind of the GRAPPLEI guy I pairing off with like able who's who's in the game, But they showed chun Ley and Bob and they didn't have partners for them. I expect that Chunley will be partnered with a lay from a tech and who was also a cop. Yeah, that's my guess, and Bob probably uh rufus because they're both the fat Who's king partnered with amum guile. I think if the if the positions on the on the character select screen are are indicative of of how they're doing it, then it's Ken and Nina. I mean not that not that you have to pick them that way, It's just that they're trying to like match the characters up in some meaningful way. So was it playable. It's playable, Yeah, very playable, but it's it's very early as well. It's a it's a tag game, so you're picking two characters each and yeah, yeah, and it's it's the Street Fighter four engine, like, so at its core, if you're playing is the Street Fighter Guys, the game feels crazy like I went back to play some Street Fighter four after this and kind of couldn't. Is it much slower? The jumps are slower. They're not like tech and floaty or anything weird like that. But the game also has tons of juggles in it, like a lot of stuff juggles like tech and style. So uppercutting dudes across the screen, yeah, like uppercutting guys, then walking up and punching them as they're coming down and upp cutting them again, and then you know, at some point it like prevents you from just like upp cutting them over and over again. Like it doesn't let you do that crazy stuff. But can you kick dudes on the ground? Nah, I don't know. I think I think you probably will be able to if I had to guess. But it does have the tech and like roll forward to get up and kind of roll out of the corner past the guy to stand up, so like, and it's most basic. In its most basic form, it feels like someone took Street Fighter four and like attached a game genie to it and said you can just hit them anytime, and just like turned on juggles with yeah. Yeah, so like with that, in my like, it's already really crazy just being able to catch guys as they're coming down and all kinds of crazy juggle stuff. That was just a lot of fun just to figure that stuff out, and then both sides can do it. Yeah, anybody right, Okay, it's just the system. Yeah, yeah, that's just that's how it is. And then the tech and characters actually feel dramatically different from the street fighter guys. But still they feel like tech in characters, like more than I would have expected. They don't just it's not just like, oh he throws fireball. Is it's not just like you we gave him three special moves. Go, if you use the light and medium attacks, you can actually kind of bang out some basic tech and combos with them like they were the left right punch, left right kick. But it does use the full six buttons, and they have some some special moves as well. They don't have projectiles, right, no, so so how do you get howd he close in? That's kind of the tough part and and that's where it definitely seems very early. Uh. Some characters could kind of do like a like a ducking lunge that would get them under projectiles. He kind of use that, yeah, or jump over him. Yeah. And there's some some other interesting stuff in there, like each character has one move that can be held. So like if you do a sonic boom and hold down the punch button on it, he goes into the animation like he pulls back his arms and then we'll just sit there and kind of charge it up. So if you hold down the button for I don't know, a couple of seconds or something, it becomes the ex version of the move. If you keep holding it down, eventually does a super. And in both cases it doesn't use any of your meter. Oh so if you can charge it up, you can do it without using any meat anything else, or if you have full meet it right, you're just stuck there. And there were supers, yeah, and even the techn characters have supers, which which look pretty cool, like like because you will eventually get you up in the air. I think that's an even in the trailer, look at you up in the air and then shoot like devil eye laser at you while you're up there. There's your, there's your, there's your. One projectile in Techen is the eye lasers. The eye lasers, but he seems to only do it as part of a super. It seems like it has a long way to go, Like the characters seemed like they were missing a few moves in some cases, and you know, you can't do ten strings, which I wonder if that'll be in there, if that'll just be too much, But it seems really cool. Can you Nina grab dudes and just pretty much counter everything that's thrown at her? Kind of wow? Really, I mean lock them up and then get him on the ground and break their arms. It didn't have that stuff. It didn't. Yeah, it didn't have the arm break throw in there. But whenever you do throws it actually he zooms in like a tech in game would, even with the street Fighter guys, which I thought was kind of cool. And she's got like the like left right left right double punch kind of combo in there. That's kind of interesting because he has got his dragon punch equivalent. But you don't do it the same way because you don't do it the same way in techn it's like that weird I don't know if you've ever seen like tech in notation, but it's like forward neutral downward. Yeah, so you do them that way, like you you know, obviously, like you know, they ken dragon punch and all that stuff comes out the exact same way, but it's the motion is slightly different for for his, which it's it's showing an attention to detail that I think is appropriate. And so this is this is Capcom or street Fighter Cross or whatever cross yeah, which is really big in the logo the cross. Yeah. Actually is there is there a Is there a Teching Cross street Fighter in the works? Yeah? Okay, So that's Namco's game. And the interesting thing I found out is that there they have no input on each other's game. They just make your game, will make ours? Yeah, you don't come out, Well, we're gonna make a game. It sounds like that the release of these trailers today is going to be that might might be the first time that the guys at Namco realize which characters are which Teching characters are going to be in the game. So they said, here's our roster. Yeah, it seems like a cool way to do it. If that's actually true. I don't know if I necessarily believe that, but it says a little crazy to me. They might just say like, oh, yeah, we're putting Bob in it, unless I was the only way to do it after like the years of like back like no tell you what, you just do what you gotta do. We'll do what we need to do. Yeah, you will make a game. Yeah, well I was just gonna be We're gonna have the most awesome story in our tech, and one can't run into business with a fucking panda bear. He's a cyborg. Yeah, that's that's that's kind of like. The thing I'd be most looking forward to out of Namco's game is them making crazy tech and endings for Street Lighter here. Well, there was even the weird serve bot heads that were the stage. Yeah, that fight in front of its kind of weird. Yeah, those are the two stages they were showing. Is there's the serve bought stage and the Drastic store stage, which I don't know if that's supposed to be like Dino crisis or what the hell's going on, but I just kept waiting for see him Neil to pop up start hugging some kids, say toasty. Yeah. So that's probably the most like interesting thing that they had to show was the Street Beighter cross tech, and I think that that looks really cool. They were also showing uh Azra's wrath. That game looks bananas, like air quotes or anything they were showing. Tell me what they showed well, they showed a trailer which you can find on the site right now, and then they played that sequence as well, and it's it's kind of like because the trailer looks so it looks like it's Dragon's lair. It looks like it's a bunch of quick time events because the guy's gonna be in a couple of cases. They showed like controller motions on screen, like you need to separate the two analog sticks, so like you no, not even like that, like just it almost looked like a cut scene is unfolding and you need to hit these buttons to keep the cutscene moving. Uh, it's sort of out looked to me. There there was there's one part where you're kind of flying out of the sky to land on this like guy who's bigger than the planet that he is attacking, and it looked like you maybe had some control there. They didn't necessarily direct control, Yeah it didn't. They didn't look like it a ton of direct control. But watch that trailer. The game looks like that. The game is that it looks like Bayonett is having a fever dream. Yeah, she's she's kind of gone crazy. Okay, had I had a crazy dream. I had a crazy dream. There was this giant guy and his finger was he was wanted to crush me under his finger, and then all of a sudden, I had six arms and then they all exploded, and then the arms exploded at Yeah, I lost five of my arms by punching his finger. So the big thing that I saw that was like the constant of the new capcom stuff. It was there was lots of like I don't I don't know what you'd call it, like skin shelling. Let's call it skin shelling. Like you're like, yeah, and somehow like you lose, you know, a shell of your skin. Yeah, but it breaks off like stone or something. It does, but then like it's revealed underneath. It's like the same thing underneath. Yeah. I couldn't figure out what was going on, but yeah, and that second trailer, I think it's just because all the Street Fighter four trailers had that kind of ink style, they wanted a watery style for this one. So it's like the shells become water as they're cracking off of it. Why did he lose his face and then he end the same face on the knees. It's hard and it was just a layer of sweat that was cracking off and when he punched that big finger and then like he just lost a shell around his hand. It's the same thing, but all the hands blew up too. Yeah, they eventually blew up like after like, yeah, it wasn't clear. Yeah, it's weird, oh Japan. Yeah, and then a guitar solo broke out. That's right, Well that sounds like a kind of crazy trip capcom. Yeah, and then apparent of Residival Games Resideval Mercenaries three D for the three DS, which is Mercenaries but it's in three D and it's on a three DS. They've got like a skill system and yeah, you can play his hunk and you can can move and shoot. You can move and shoot. And then Residueval Operation Raccoon City, which is which is the third person shooter from the developers of so Calm Confrontation, And it looks a lot like a game that the developers of so Calm Confrontation would make, but there are zombies and it's like four on four online four on four. Yeah, So it's kind of like tactical, like you you pick a character class and you get skills like uh, you know, active camouflage or the metic character can shoot an adrenaline dart that kind of slows down time for camouflage. Yeah, like the predator invisibility stuff you can move. Yeah, because you're playing is like Umbrella Special Forces versus like Delta Force or something. And then Leon Kennedy is there like one of the Missie Okay, like one of the missions is like the Umbrella guys have to find lee On Kennedy and kill him, and I think that the other team has to prevent that from happening, or a single player It wasn't really clear. And then there are zombies also, also there are zombies, God and bow, bio organic weapons like Tyrant or not what not, but Nemesis gotta go to the notes. Did not see Nemesis. I need to look at my notes because I actually don't know what anything residual is named. Liquors. Definitely did not see any liquors. I'm running. I'm running out here too, Zombies, Tyrant and a hunter. A hunter will kind of appear and hunt the top player. There are herbs, is are there? Typewriter ribbons? I didn't say anything, all right, Yeah, how am I gonna say in my game? But it looks like in the single player mimissions, it almost looked like there were Left for Dead style safe houses where it's like, here's a room full of herbs and AMMO, all right, go on, getting ready. Yeah, there's just Boss Fountain. Yeah. And in my notes here, as you can see, the first thing I wrote down zombies and the second thing you see are so calm, so zombie, so calm. Okay, and then the character classes have names like Vector and belt Way. Okay. Yeah, that looked that looked interesting. Yeah, that sounds a little different. Yeah, it's it's definitely different. It's you know, from the typical residentible thing. Is there a date on that? Talking about that, I want to say that's late that that that's coming this year. That's that's a fall release, and Super is this year. Yeah, that's June. So that's that's coming of that stuff this year. A Dragon's Dogma is twenty twelve, okay. And I don't know that they have a date for Street Fight Across Tech and yet, but I would imagine that would be. I would hope that would be this year. Whatever there's there. They put out their fighting games in the first quarter of the year. That's stuff. Street Fighter four's band. That's how MVC three was, so maybe that's not until next year. Next year. It's a it's a weird it seems like a weird year for Capcom. Well, I'm just I'm interested to see that they have a stuff that they are working on, because before this event it was like, God, what's what are they working on? It's like, well, they got two Resideval games, and they got that Devil mccry remake, yeah, which was not there, but apparently that and the street Fighter three Third Strike will be at E three, So they're just kind of holding some stuff for E three. A lot of Street Fighter huh. It's pretty big. It's making money again. Fighting games are back, man. M MK has been like the number one most popular game on the site off and on for like the past few weeks. Yeah, it's gonna be the same problem though. It's just a bubble again. It'll burst. Yeah, you got too many of them, like to be honest, like you know, Tech and like how many How big is the crossover between Street Fighter and Tech and fans big enough for a game? It's big enough for a game, but like I just don't see that as you know, and it's obviously it can't be like too big of a you know, a resource hog for them. You know, they're obviously using the same engine and stuff. It looks very similar to Street Fighter four, maybe just a little bit more pulled back, But I just I don't know, techn never grabbed me. Yeah, I mean, yeah, the obvious. I think that's that's a regional thing. And I think TECHN does a lot better in Japan than it than it does that it certainly than it has done here recently, Like TECHN feels dead in the US. Yeah, and there are certainly people that are very enthusiastic about TECH and and there is a scene around it, but as far as like mainstream success like Tech and six just kind of came and went failure, techn Cross Virtue Fighter is that, yeah, like game that makes more sense like naturally. But but I was pretty impressed at how the TECHN characters have been integrated into this. They felt really interesting. It kind of it felt like it was revitalizing TECHN for me in a way because I know just enough about Techn to you know, be able to kind of bang out the traditional combos and a lot of that stuff was in there. So it was exciting to see that stuff in there as well as this kind of other kind of focus. I really want to see the Expendables version of fighting games, Like I just want them to call it like fighting game and it's just got everybody in it, you know. Give me Marvel characters, give me Tech and Battle, Yeah, give me throw them all in there, man, why not? Licensing would be awesome, Kim, Yeah, give me some Samurai Showdown guys in there, Like, yeah, yeah, why not. I still think that, you know, the the interesting game is Street Fighter versus Mortal Kombat, Like that that's still the That's the one and it it's it, you know. And the thing you kind of keep hearing is like, yeah, the guys in Japan don't know what Mortal Kombat is, so they picked Techen because they know what Techen is. It just seems like, straight up, you know, those games never did well over there, so they're not viewed as being on the same level of Street Fighter, whereas here it's like, yeah, it's those those two are like the Twin Towers, the Titans of the genre for a lot of people. But I would love to see I would really like to see it because the art styles are sort so I would like to see like Moral Kombat if it were still live action stuff with like Street Fighter dudes like live action e. Well, did you ever play Street Fighter of the movie? Yeah? The game, yeah, yeah, but better you know, and then seeing like the Moral Kombat guys done real kind of like animated, Well they do it the same way that you make your game. Yeah exactly. Yeah, so like the street like taking like sub Zero, making him like kind of all animated out and like ready to go inky and watery with with shell skinning. What do you skin skin shelling? Yeah, it's a new concept on I don't know if you heard about it. No, it's not so yeah, I don't know, No, it's not. It's Capcom still still a little weird twenty eleven for me, I don't know, because they had so much stuff in the last two or three years, and like, you know, it feels like they're going through a big transition. I mean, you know, the head of their company just took off relatively recently, so you know, it's like they're they got that turnover the you know, the guy that games the games coming out though, and then the games look all right, so kind of see how that stuff turns out. I think you know, the kind of core stuff that they have traditionally been good at still appears to be good, and it's good to see reaching out in interesting directions. It's good to see them try new ip. Yeah, I mean Dragons Dogma. For as dumb as the name is and for as weird as those trailers look, I think if that game lines up just right, it'll be really cool. It has a shot anyway, So I don't know, kind of see that Hydra looked cool. Yeah, It's like taken down Griffins on their backs. Pretty cool. Yeah, So that's what I've been playing. Why don't you guys U join me as we move along to the news your Simon hat. Yeah, today meaning the day we're recording this, not the day that this is going up. It's perform his Persona four day. I know it. Yeah, I almost didn't come in today. Yeah, Performance Persona four days. That means that the timeline in Persona four begins today, begins today. Today is the day that Charlie gets on the train gets off of the train in Naba. He's probably probably gone off already until later in the day. Charlie gets off whenever he wants. I wouldn't worry about him. He gets his he's met Naco and yeah, he's already thinking like, that's a girl. Looks like she could use a lamp. Do you guys want me to leave? I'll just yeah, I'll go outside. Well he's probably did he go to school yet? Has he met not the first day? No, he's a cloudy today, No, I don't think. So they go to the gas station. They meet the mysterious gas station attendant. Big mistakes. Yeah, we look at a refrigerator for something to eat. Yeah, not on the first I don't think on the first. Well, you're not gonna find anything. Yeah, yeah, that's for sure. Yeah, what the hell are you? He's probably go to bed because you're exhausted. Yeah, probably go to bed early today. You're exhausted. I am exhausted. Uh So they have had a countdown timer taking down for the past few days now, and and people hacked around that and figured out that they are announcing Persona for Animation, which is an anime coming from Aniplex. Apparently got punched in the Aniplex. Yeah, he took it the right straight to the Antiplex, right in the Aniplex. So I'm mission impossible at the Aniplex last Thursday. It's awesome. Yeah, so I don't know that's Anaheim nine theaters. So you guys aren't as excited about this. I would assume No, No, it's you know, it's anime. I already know how that story ends. Like I'm maybe interested in seeing so some repressed feelings from childhood. I'm not. I'm not excited because we made the story the way it should be, the right choices. I need to see somebody else's I don't need to see Frank West interpretation. Yeah exactly. It's like what if Frank West was here? What would be different everything? Oh? God? So yeah, I don't. I don't want anybody else's. Also, they've totally boned it up already naming the main character Charlie. Yeah, they've renamed Charlie. He's playing somebody else. You not Ukami? What? Yeah? Was that his name? And he had no his name was Charlie. Yeah, so Charlie will be playing somebody else for the duration of this anime. Yeah, okay, he's already played in the in the manga. So you know what this actually has led me to think about, uh, this whole thing of this being the day that Persona four starts is when we were talking about having timelines on the site. Remember timelines. Yeah, that's great idea. Yeah, we should totally do that, but like like game time time. Yeah yeah, like in real time. Okay, so in in case, so you know, we would be able to have what happened today in video games and it would say like, you know, April eleventh, twenty eleven, PERSONA four starts, but it might say like April eleventh, twenty x x this happens or April eleventh, unspecified year, and you can roll in like birthdays of real people fifty years from now. Yeah, project, yeah exactly. Just every single date that has ever associated with a video game gets entered into the timeline for that game. That's insane. Yeah, that's crazy. These the things that we sat in that glass room thinking about before you started. That's crazy. Yeah, that was yeah, it was crazy. It's one of those things where we sit there and we get really jazzed up for it, and then we think about, like, well, who's actually going to really use this, Like who's like who's this What problem are we actually solving here today? In addition to like the hundreds of real problems that still have to be actually solved before the site can launch. Yeah, sure, yeah, I get on it. Yeah, we'll put that in the CD ROM edition of order. Yeah, seven CDs. So anime of Persona four? Yeah, I was hoping it would be a person did they show do they show art styles the trailer? There's no trailer. They showed a nart style. It looks like Persona four, but slightly more anime, if that's possible, Like what if Chia sounds like no, it's not gonna be the same voice actress? Well, who knows if they're even going to dub it into English. So there's that. I imagine if they do dub it into English, because atlas Us just seems to be really good at reusing the same dudes over and over again, would be the same that they would get the same people. Okay, let me put it this way. They have to fucking get the same people. They had better get the same right if they're going to do it. If they're gonna do it, if you're not gonna get the same people, don't do it. Just don't. Just just don't do it, fans ubs, what when's that come out? I have no idea. I don't know it's not even officially announced yet. It won't by the time this goes up. It's still the countdown time comes. Yeah, that universe ends? When does it? How long did it last? How long it was a year? It was a year year in Charlie's life. How many episodes are they going to fuse? Yeah? How many fusing episodes will they? Ah, that's that's a really I wonder if they'll just go like Pokemon style and be like he just starts with like Jack Frost and like that's his like persona or whatever. The Nazi Lightning dude like Isnagi will stay with him like the entire time. I'm more excited for the anime version of the Endurance Run to somebody watching the anime anime. Yeah, they're They've got different voice actors for Finny and Jeff and then pin Chuck will watch that talk over it. Yeah, oh man, cultural phenomena. Yeah, so persona FOREI Endurance Run, feel free to start watching that again? Yeah, catch up, enjoy it again for the first time. Yeah, because this is coming out eventually. I don't know. It's ah P four A dot JP I think is the the address for it. Continuing on with news George hots Hots with a Z. Who's that Geo Hot? Oh okay, the guy that hacked the PlayStation three and all that stuff. He has settled And how great is it? Like, you know, you just his name is out there is Geo Hot And turns out dude's name is George hots that's how they found them. Yeah. Like and when they first started saying the name George Hots out there, I figured that was just like a funny joke, like he just came up with a real sounding name to anyway. It's like calling yourself kind of Yeah. He has settled with Sony, he said in the lawsuit. Said they were trying to get him for hacking the system and putting all that information out there and violating the terms of service. What is that involved when you settle with them? Like a billion dollars? No, he actually all he has to do apparently is never circumvent security system on anything ever again. And that is what he agreed to, not even just Sony products. Apparently it's I know, really, if he rips a DVD, he goes to jail. Basically, we told you, George, Yeah, but I owned it, so you know, that information is all already out there, and now there are other people that have picked up that ball and run with it. It's not like they're putting a genie back in a bottle and he's just this creable piracy thing went away. It's just that he gets to not live in South America. So yeah, so what you're saying, like Sony so many in a Sony bardroom is like, well, man, if that's done, let's get back to the business. I'm making games. How are you doing on that PlayStation four? Because now the security's airtight? Got that George guy, there's a Caza, right yeah, give me, yeah, give me Phil Caza. Jim Lime wires any napster on. We're on a role. Let's take this. I understand what the alright had a problem with, like cartel they should probably high or that guy he came up with some pretty good iPhone exploit stuff before the PlayStation three stuff like he's because because Japan makes pretty smart moves when it comes to that kind of stuff, right, yeah, he's he's Uh, clearly, he clearly has a knack for this sort of thing. Uh so maybe he should be designing security systems for putting on a white hat. Yeah, maybe I don't know, So that's it. That's it for that, I guess, but you know, at least from him, I mean, you know, and and with all that lawsuit stuff that Sony through out there, a lot of the people who were also working in that area went further underground, like basically abandoned their Twitter accounts, abandoned all of their stuff, but continued to work. I don't know if this will change anything. Only Carmen san Diego Nos, yeah, exactly joined up with her cartel. They found this glove and Perry yeah, the warrant. Yeah, I just I don't know, like, like piracy is now an issue on the PlayStation three because of all this stuff, and that that's probably not going to go any go away anytime soon. I feel like I'm too old to care. Kind Yeah, it just happens. It's it's like pretty much like a constant, like why why are we all surprised? I mean, it's just for a little bit, but then it always resurfaces. But I feel like I'm at an age now where I like, I don't know, I just buy the game. I don't know, I'm not I'm not downloading Wears files and yeah, it's like, you know, It's like there's a I feel at a point where you're a kid who has more time than money. Yeah, and you're gonna get into a lot of nefarious ship yeah, and then you just become lazy. Yeah, it just become lazy. You know what's easier. I pushed this button. It charges my credit card and I have the game. I have to worry about any viruses on my computer and then get real lazy, Like I have that game on my shelf, but I'm at the computer right now. I could get it on Steam. I could just get it on Steam. Then, all right, fine, just this one time though, I actually had defined. I found a no CD crack for Crisis, so I didn't have to get the CD off my shelf because I didn't have it on Steam. So I was like, so then to find this no CD crack because I was like, oh, I don't want to be swapping out disks the disc. I have no idea the Giant Bomb CD edition right, yeah, that we've been working on. But then I couldn't patch the game. I don't know whatever. It was real, the dark Dark Point in the weekend. It's disgusting. Everything you just said it is disgusting. Yeah, well I was gonna buy it again, just be like that's all. That is also disgusting. Started out discussing when you said you were playing Crisis. That's good, the best looking game in twenty eleven, twenty eleven, two thousand and seven game of the year here, the best graphics of the Year's keep that game that much credit. So, yeah, I don't know. The piracy stuff. I think that part of this, like Sony's reaction, always seemed a little crazy to me because like just trying to sue people that released the information seemed like a really dumb approach because the information was already out there. But at the same time, if you look at what they did with the PSP, which was jack fucking shit, it uh just kill kill all. When like a hacker gets caught or something like, he should have to do some sort of like indentured servitude at least towards the company, like somehow kind of like I don't know, like it just seems like he gets off like a little bit easy. It's like, yeah, don't do it again, Yeah for sure, Like what the alternative is you have him come in there and work as an invision servant and then fill all your code full of backdoors for his friends, Like, well, I guess that's true too. Yeah, you could never really have something like that, but I Q, yeah exactly. But you know, they had to kind of come out and show to retailers and they had to show to all the third party licensees and stuff that they were going to take a harder stance on the PS three than they did on PSP because it's like you talked to a lot of developers about PSP and they say, like, we can't make money on this platform because piracy is so bad. So it seemed like from the beginning, as soon as Sony Sony started to react to uh, this stuff, it seemed like that was the real goal, was to put on a big show and say we're not taking this lying down right. But it doesn't as far as I can tell, it doesn't change a damn thing. Do you think this will all change when a lot of this stuff becomes you know, like Steam where it's a you know, a purchase, like purchased through some sort of you know, storefront. I think that that'll that'll go a long way, and that'll that'll kill the used game problem. They could get around it by just serializing everything if they wanted to just put a serial number with every single game. The catch there is that there's some significant percentage of people that own these consoles that still don't have them hooked up to the Internet, and those are the people that would never be able to use a Steam like system. So I don't think they're willing to cut those people off yet, but they will buy the next platform they have to, I would think. So, yeah, I mean just to security, you know, I just say, ye say security and all that stuff. But you know, it's like, well, what do you think. I mean, here we are, we run websites and there's people talking in different parts of the world trying to meter access and tear out stuff and you know make you know, all this Netflix traffic and all this Torrent traffic and all this stuff. Like the the Internet is getting ridiculous bandwidth wise, it's getting crowded. Yeah, but that's gotta start kicking people off. But that's normal. I mean, that's like any tech adoption. It's like, oh man, it's all happening, so pools close. Yeah, it's just that's you know, it'll restructure itself. The only thing that'll change is people just have to pay more for their internet, but that'll be okay because you'll be dropping it out of like look at me, Like, I'm paying, you know, for as high quality internet as I can get at home, right, so I'm paying I'm paying one hundred bucks just for the internet, just for the Internet. But I'm not paying anything for cable, because why the fuck would I need cable right now? Right? Like sports? You know, I that's about it. I need to I'd like to watch an NFL game every once in a while, I'll go to a bar. Like it all. I'm just saying it balances out, Like if you're yeah, you're gonna pay all this kind of stuff. It sucks that people do all this kind of stuff. I feel the other way. If I need to, like, I'll watch a sports game at home, but if I need to like download porn or something like that, I'll go to a bar. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, of course That's why I bought that touch Master and just put it in our bar. Yeah. But I think, I think, I think next generation they will still have the same security problems they have. Now, that's my prediction. I make games being available on Steam does not make them immune to piracy. It just means that the processes is different. I feel like as long as people are making games, humans are making games, other humans will want to crack that. There will always be people that have more time than money. Yeah, and just try and know people get a kick out of it. Yeah. Yeah, that's definitely that aspect of broken. I still get a sick thrill every time I rejail break my iPhone, which I did last night. That's because the iPhone, they just break that thing on purpose. I feel so silly when when I do that with my kindle, like this is the dumbest thing in the world, Like I can't change the goddamn wall. Yeah, I only do it because I want to change the text message tones. And it's just like, why this silly? Why am I doing this stupid crature? You go, that's the future. The future is May third at this the timeline Call of Duty Black Ops mat pack May third, The Escalation pack is coming, four more multiplayer maps, one more zombie map, and they say that the zombie map will have a new cast of playable characters. How blown away are you, guys? I have to get back in the room, all right, would you say I was blown away? First thing you said it came out of your maath. There's a sequel to NBA Jam coming out, NBA Jam on Fire Edition, coming to downloadable systems in the fall. I'm not believing it. That's Marve Albert's uh yeah, he's on fire now there They are changing, like the AI is supposed to be more adaptive. They're updating the roster and doing some other stuff. That game apparently did really well on the iPhone. Yeah, the original, the original does. No one's playing the re release that much. But but yeah, I don't know. They're doing another one, and they're doing it downloadable and making some changes. Team Fire is back tag mode, so you don't have to play as one guy the whole time. You can always play as the guy with the ball. Did you really say it did well on the iPhone? Yeah, apparently it did well on the iPhone. Like they're issuing roster updates for that version, which seems ridiculous. It was a funny thing in the in the press release for NBA Jam on Fire Edition was that they said in there that the simulation Basketball will be returning next fall. What because, I mean, you remember this is EA issuing the release, so you remember NBA Elite got canned last year, and they went through all that stuff. I just thought it was interesting that at no point did they say NBA Elite will be finally making its way to shelves next year. I have to imagine that they're going to that that name is totally burned. Oh addition to NBA jam this is this is not no no no, no, no no no. This is just like, hey, we're doing this for this year and uh look out and look out next year we'll get back to real basketball basketball. But I thought it was interesting that they didn't call it NBA Elite anywhere in there. You gonna call it real basketball. Yeah, real sports basketball too. Yeah, it'll be Jordan versus Bird twenty twelve. I could totally get behind that game. You made me a new Jordan versus burn. Would you want Jordan versus Bird? Or Doctor j versus Larry Bird? I want Robert Parrish somewhere in there wants Spud Webs versus Muggsy Boats. Yeah, no doubt, the two most dominant players, so they're respective eras. Yeah, you want Dominique Wilkins versus suits salesman. How crazy was that? What is showing up in the news for why is he beating up dudes and he owns suits too? Nat gets his don't worry about nat. Uh uh. Burnout Crash. This was mentioned by the Australian Ratings Board as a game in the Burnout series. What does that mean? Like it's it's one of those things like like Street Fighter Arcade Edition was getting mentioned in various ratings. It's like you know when they post on like, hey we've rated this game this rating and you're like, what game is that? What the hell are you talking about? Burnout Crash was mentioned there. Shut up and keep banning games, right, What is Burnout Crash? We don't know. It sounds like a downloadable game to me. What is Burnout Crash? What is burnout crash dot com? It's everything? Yeah. Yeah, so it sounds like we'll be getting more Burnout in the near future, and I e. Three stre sounds like a good place to announce something like a new video game, persistent online world of crashing. Yes, Burnout Crash, but it actually means like the game will crash. There's no blood because all the criteria guys worked on the need for speed stuff. Yeah, so I wonder how, like, how good of an you know, was it worth those guys time to jump? Well, I know from a game perspective, but I'm just wondering, like, which franchises need me Out sells Burnout and always has so it probably it probably was the best selling Criterion game of all time if I guess, you can work on this or we can, or you can yeah, or you we can show you the door. Yeah it's this black to get it, shoot the barrel. The guys die, like I forget it. That game has been made already. Uh yeah, so it's uh yeah, I think that that that did well for him. I mean, I still think that Burnout Paradise is probably the best game that they have absolutely developed, even better than than Hoppersuit. But I love the way Hoppersuit looks, especially god especially on the PC. Incredible looking game. But yeah, Burnout Crash, no idea what it is other than that. That sounds like a downloadable game focused on the crash mode to me. But we'll see, or maybe it doesn't exist at all and it's just crazy, but that rarely is the case. And that's it for news. Uh That's that's all we got for that. That's it. That's all right. Yeah, yeah, decent stack of stuff. How about new releases? Not a lot out this week, not a lot out this Yeah, well it's the first couple of weeks of the Q two, so everyone rushed out stuff for the end of Q one and now they're back to not release and stuff. But next week is the week? The week, Well what's this week? This week on XBLA, we've got Yars Revenge and Might and Magic Clash of Heroes. Might and Magic Clash of Heroes will also be coming to the PlayStation three. The downloadable side of things is that it's a video game, I know, but might magic Like I haven't heard that outside of like a Japanese Japanese DS games Paxis. It might magic all up in paxis? Was there? Yeah? You see the card table. Oh you know what, it's a it's a part of the DS game. Oh so there you go. I was gonna say, because they're mostly they've mostly moved to the DS. Yeah, uh developed that copy of Independent Dudes like Grass they're Canadians way or something. So that's out. Also on PSN, Dungeon Hunter Alliance, which is another one of those game loft games, looks kind of like a four player uh like Dark Alliance kind of Dungeon Crawley. I like dark sort of thing from the This is mind You from the eight seconds to the trailer I watched, So it could be something totally different, But that's exactly what uh. And Assassin's Creed one, I don't I don't know if that the description wasn't clear on what that was. I imagine it's just the full game coming as a downloadable. I thought it was there already. Does it say Assassin's Creed one is Assassins Creed well and talks about Ault year. But I wonder if it might be another game loft like we are bringing phone games to your PlayStation three? What a good idea or whatever? Retail pretty thin pat Upon three, Michael Jackson Experience for three sixty and p s three. So that's connect right, that's is that is connect? We have that in here. We can see we can connect. No, you know we already did the we version like it's so embarrass ourselves. They didn't include and close a glove with the three sixty version as far as I know, so forget it and rio based on the movie there we got Birds. I don't know that that was the Angry Birds Rio. That was their big thing that Yeah, so that's a tie. And but this is actually just Rio and it's a mini game collection. So the back of the box says over forty mini games, and then on the front of the box there's a little thing that says, with three bonus mini games, I got four. Yeah, but I thought was just crazy. It's like, we got over forty this one, which is all of them probably, I don't know. I don't know what it was, what it's compared to, But are they all Rio games? More? Then it's all based on Rio. This bird movie, how can you have forty four? It's these birds are running, These birds are spitting shoot up food into the birds that are moving back and forth like a basketball poop. It's you take the touch Master from back of the bar, you take out the porn you're put in birds, and you ship it like it's that's forty that's forty five, all right, Solitaire, but it's Bird of Taire all right, it sounds fabulous. I don't know. It's it's Rio crisis, so crisis this week whatever. I'm currently neck deep in next week's games, which is nice. I got it. If you don't want to put a CD in there. Kids at home, don't download no CD's cracks. It's not worth it. It would have been worth it for me to spend. It's like it's actually like forty bucks. Yeah, crisis on on Steam. I thought it was gonna be twenty don't the original crisis. But disk in the drive, Yeah, I just I don't even think my CD drives hooked up. I think it's just sick disconnected. Well, you just had it installed. Still I haven't. We'll have everything installed. I don't even want I do have trouble with something like I'm still deathly worried about losing my Wizardry eight discs every time I pull them out because like I haven't installed, and I'm like, I want to play something, and then I gotta go find the desk, and I always you know, there's like lots of those discs when you have those games. Yeah, like I still gotta have like a binder of all these you know, old games. Start topy, that's what's in the drive. Yeah, my drive works, okay, Yeah, that's I don't want to take that out of course, because I have to binder, right. Oh, also new releases h ds. I wear art of Ink from Samarasa one player E ten plus h submerge yourself in the colorful world of tattoo art. That is what so heroin And alright, I'm there working in one of the most prestigious studios in town. You can turn your stylist into a tattoo machine. That sounds like a terrible job. What do you do, I'm a fucking tattoo machine. What do you want to fucking tiger on your lower back? Other other tattooed artists will take note of your success and challenge you to prove your skills. Defeating them will give you an insight into their techniques and help you become the next tattoo masks that ds I wear. All Right, I want to draw really bad tattoos at the stylists. Well, it'll cost you eight hundred eight bucks to do it. Oh God. Also Slingo Quest, which I think is like slingo like the game show Thing Escape, Trick the City, the Secret of Rock City Prison. It's a great name for game Play with Birds for we wear Let's play with Birds because is that one of the mini ams in Rio? Yeah? Probably Yeah. Play with Birds is an original cartoon per bird game for players of all ages. You play with birds, you get burns, that's right, play with women dozens. This one has dozens of bird mini games including Birdman Catch Thief and bird Race Catch not Catching, and then a demo for Fast Draw Showdown, which I that's I don't know, that's that's it. That is it for new releases. Now we've got that. The apportes out of the well you did forget down to D Day. I don't know if it's a new release, that's last week. That's that's that. Let's uh, how do you guys feel about email? I don't where's brad emails? Saw make all? Right? Well, going on those zephyr line, Brad's here kick this off. Bomb cast at giant bomb dot com is at email address though. I took all these from form spring because so what happened to all those like those kids are just all pissed off? They probably they crafted all these perfect emails those as time. Yeah, those those go to Ryan, so hopefully he'll just answer them himself, right, Yeah, So I don't have access to to that stuff. So he's Ryan's phone number? Yeah right, just give him a call. Yeah, So I've got to kind of sift through these a little bit uny. You want to ask me a question while it's while it's looking at you can ask me sure, Yeah, no CD cracks. What I don't know that's not a question is that I'm thinking of the question to add to it. Uh, here's a good question. I think they're illegal, are you bypassing? I've used no CD cracks mostly because I think they're a nuisance, like the game check. Yeah, it's like I've got it. I've got the game already. If it's just like the typical crack where it's just you know, just so it doesn't need to read it before starting, I have no problem. I think they're illegal. Also, a lot of these questions are anonymous, so keep that in mind. I like scented candles. Do you like scented candles? All right, that's a question. It depends with the sentence. We got that that that came in someone wrote that, someone typed that into a form. I had a bad experience with the scented candle where like you know, I've got the scented candle where it's like you used it before a girl comes over, because you just don't want it to smell like old cardboard, like you know, pretty much heavy metal magazines. Yeah, and so I had, like, you know, a guy stay with me for like a week, and of course, you know, then those things that you just have kind of sitting around get used, like a scented candle, and of course you just started and forgot about it, and the scented candle ended up all over a carpet. Oh, like wax and the wax red wax. Oh great, so like a murder scene. Well, now I did, because in California you have to actually replace the carpets every two years, so as long as you stay in a place for two years. Yeah, it's like part of weird mental law out. Wow, so totally got it all back. I didn't care, but I just had like red carbon wax for a year, let's say a year. Dave mentioned need to be answering questions. So I'm curious about the infrastructure of your site, mainly because I'm in the middle of implementing it myself. How do you handle load balancing and dev test code pushes? Uh? So, our load balancing stuff, we use this thing called engine X, which is a It's made by a bunch of Russians. You can look at some of this stuff. We've got it up on our actual whiskey dot com Blogia Whiskey Media dot com blog, which we talk about some of this kind of stuff. But we use engine X for load balancing. There's basically just a split. We use EC two for all of our actual our actual servers, so we just kind of spin them up as we need them. Engine X distributes the load, which we'll use that for not only that, but for like our chat servers. So for example, on our chat went all buggy this past week, it did it fix itself. I wasn't here in front of I wasn't here either. I think I don't think. I don't think as many people were having as many issues. So that's for people that don't know. Load balancing is when you actually split the traffic of a website across not one server, but across like ten. So Jeff comes in, he hits server one, Vinnie comes in, he hits server two, and it gets all split out, and is it hard to remember a problem. Back in the old days, it was that sometimes you would have content appear on one of the servers but not others. You'd sit there and refresh your page and sometimes something would show up one way and something right. Yeah, So the other side is that he's talking about is deployment. We use a Python a deployment framework called Fabric, which our own Jeff Forcier, who now works in house, wrote and we use that basically to push and deploy our code from one site to the next. And hopefully when you do stuff like that, it will clear cash across each server. But when you know, in the old days, what you'd see is sometimes that cash wouldn't get cleared, so you'd see like old versions of the website, you know, no OUP in certain spots. That was always a pain when there was like screenshots in play that shouldn't be there. It's like, oh god, we gotta get it down. Oh yeah, we're still seeing it. That was always That was always a fun one. And then we'd and then we'd always quit. We'd always get around and say, well are you logged in? Because we don't cash. A lot of our stuff feel logged in. So we'd make Jeff feel good about himself by if he logged in as himself, then he wouldn't see the problem. That was very obviously there. Now I'm talking about older days than that. Oh oh those days yeah, some of those dark days. That's yeah. Another quick question for any idea, how long until you guys start testing the new streaming method during live shows. Justin has grown more and more dickish as of late. Thanks. Oh well, I think so. Our big deal with that is we're basically a beta user of Amazons. You know, we do most of our hosting three Amazon. Yeah, so they have just started doing this live streaming component, which you know we use. It's basically, you know, kind of a There are a couple of reasons. We've got to look at the cost, you know, of of what that's going to be for us. The bigger one though, is that we've noticed that it doesn't work for some people. We also can't really control the output that's coming out. The nice thing that Justin will do is it will, you know, depending upon your connection, it can actually split out different feeds. For us to do that, we have to do a lot of prep work to get something like that running on our end, where we actually have to build the feeds on our side and then provide them separately. So it's a little harder like if if everybody had great connections and they were all on similar environments, we'd be able to, you know, flip the switch tomorrow, but I think it's something that we don't want to take one solution and just switch to a different solution unless it's you know, one better. So it's something that will definitely happen probably in the next couple of months, and we'll probably continue to do like what we've done in the last couple of weeks, where hey, let's try it out, let's see what it's like. But it's one of those things that we need to work directly with Amazon first to get them to do a lot of it's not necessarily things that we can do on our own. It sounds like YouTube is getting ready to test there. There's lots of you know stuff, everybody's trying to do something. So it's it's bad. Like the tough gamble with tech stuff is you take you take those guesses. So like we took guesses with our video and coding, and we're like, yeah, I who's gonna draw hto what you know Chrome? Really, you guys are gonna jerks. Oh, now we got to go back, And so you end up in these weird spots and in the tech world where there aren't standard set and you just kind of have to. If you want to be progressive with the technology, you have to bet on a couple of different horses, which sucks, especially when you have to raincode every single video. So for us, you know, we've got our We're gonna bet on a couple different horses, and you know, we hope certain solutions work, but they might no on where we'll continue to try stuff out. We still have weird stuff and I see it pop up and I don't really have good answers for it. We see where stuf where people who are watching some of the videos get corruption on the video player here and there, and they're still still kind of getting that that's that is very definitely their end. Yeah, I don't know what it is. Like the source file is fine, and like it's not something we can emulate on a lot of the computers here, so it's not happening a thing. We can't figure out if it's a CPU based thing or if it's a location based. I'm pretty certain that there are people, there are some random people that get dropouts from streaming where the video will basically just cut in the middle. I'm pretty certain that that's just because their connection while fast isn't very persistent. And I've noticed this happening in not as developed sort of areas as some though I'm sure it's happening, you know, in scattered places everywhere. But it's just one of those things where, look, we're really one of the few people that puts out forty minute long videos, you know, like on the Internet. And to keep that kind of stream, yeah, to keep your Internet connection like good, you know, consistently for forty minutes is not only it's asking a lot of your ISP you know, to actually be able to do that. And so sometimes I think what's happening is it's cutting out on their side just for like a second, and then because of that, the video is basically like, oh, well, this video is over. It's it's no longer. The player goes like, oh it must not. Yeah, I mean, we haven't changed our compression settings in a while. We went back probably about two or three months ago, and I retooled some working with some of the users and stuff to be like, all right, does this work? Does work? But we haven't we haven't touched it since then. They changed your compression. No, I haven't done anything. So yeah, I got slower. Yeah, Unfortunately, it's the internet at home is getting it seems like it's getting slower, and here got slower. I had problems and soft we have pretty fast internet here. Yeah, people, more and more people are getting on. I mean, it's it's only happen. Start start paying more for your interact. That's how they get you. Man. So I've had DSL for a long time, which is, you know, not as fast as cable, but but at least I'm not in business with Comcast. Yeah, that's just why I'm paying what I am. And it kind of sucks, but I can't still deal with it anymore. So I think I'm gonna have to switch. And the IP that I have right now is rolling out, you know, some kind of crazy fiber fusion thing, but they don't offer I'm four thousand feet further away than I Ah. Just sucks. Uh. Is Merk's Ink still in development? Haven't heard anything on that game since Pandemic closed down? That is a good question. I think that game is dead. But they did move it out of Pandemic into e LA I heard, so there was still work being done on it after the Pandemic. Was this essentially Merks three. It was like Mark's two technology, but in a multiplayer focused game or something something along those lines. At least that's how it looked. Next question, can we please get a hardcore Dave T shirt? Isn't it just a it's just a white beater, Like that's the T shirt? Is that you mean hardcore Dave? But if it was a T shirt that had a wife beat, like it was like a tuxedo T shirt, but it was a wife beater T shirt, could work? Could work? But would they would the arms and the rest of it be like skin color? No, I think it would just be black. Would just be like this wife beater hovering in and you know, hardcore Dave. I'll give you the story behind hardcore Dave showing up in our marketing materials. It's pretty much because you know, as you'd imagine. I don't know if you've seen our happy hours, but you could pretty much tell that we're a lot of times we're making up stuff kind of you know, a few hours beforehand. And not only are we doing that, we're deciding sometimes, Uh, there are requests of selling you know, certain products literally a few hours before ahead. So somebody will walk over to my desk and they'll be like, hey, you know, can we can we you know, Oh, here's this T shirt We're gonna sell it. I'm like, way, And so I have to make a promo. But then, you know, when it because it's a marketing thing, it then ends up like there needs to be like specific text. And so luckily we've kind of gotten past that point. We realize, like, look at the T shirt design just needs to be up there. We need to tell you where to go, and we need to tell you the price right now. Yeah, but before that, it could, you know, get a little more complicated than that, And so I would always get frustrated and I would just be like, well, how about this. I'm gonna put this on it? What do you how do you think about that? Selling it? Yeah? And hardcore Dave just ended up on the marketing materials. Hardcore Dave is not a marketing man, I know. But that's why he's pissed off. He's like pissed off. He's like, why am I making this an hour ahead of time? So there there's hardcore Dave. Yeah, next question, what the hell made you think it would be a good idea to take your phone with you? Kayaking? Literally, that's that's that's what. No, well it is. Look, there is a big kind of a fear like I that is the way that I will die, you know, if I'm going to die right now, it will more likely me, Yeah, by myself out in the middle of the bay. Whatever. Your your girlfriend's gonna acidentally shoot you? Yeah, that could that could that could happen too. I feel like you. I feel like that wouldn't happen. Like you'd kayak, you'd flip over and then a bear would jump out of the water and you have to fight it, and that's how you died motion fighting it. The reason I had it out there was because I thought, like, how most of the time I get phone calls it's Sunday because I'm getting bored. You're bored out there? No, it's good, Like imagine you now just kind of sitting in a kayak twitter. Yeah. Yeah, but I figured it would be kind of funny, Like imagine if somebody called you up on the phone and they're like, hey, what are you doing. I'm like, I'm on a fucking kayak right now in the middle I get out of down, you know, and I've been out there. I've actually been out there a couple of times with my phone with my phone, but this time it was a little choppier than trapped out. Let me tell you something, it is not fun to fall out of a kayak in April in San Francisco Bay. That is not That is cold. And here's here's the other crazy thing. It's hard to get back in the sea kayak. I remember you showing me those videos, those likels of how to get in. There was a good amount of fear of me being like it keeps rolling right, Yeah, if it's choppy, you have to you basically have to go up from the backside. It's not like you're just going in from the side, like you have to cowboy yourself up. Yeah, and then kind of sliding legs first. And so what was it now that we're talking about this again, was what was the kind of like you get back in, you're soaking wet, and you're just like, I'm going up. Fuck, I'm just going home. That's it. I'm freezing. I don't think I have hypothermia, Like what is going through your head? I was just no, it's basically like, all right, it's not I'm not freezing, Like I'm not that cold. It's not like really windy, so I'll be fine. Did you just keep going? Yeah, it just went well. I was on my way back, so you know, it took me another thirty minutes or whatever because it's not a fast sport. But it's not like you know, like you like kind of like Stubb, you're like trip when you're walking down the sidewalk, they and trying to like play it off like you were running or something like. No. I spent the next just contemplating switching the phones, and I was like, what am I gonna do? New iPhones probably out like a month or maybe not walk it's so no, I am my wallet, but my keys. Luckily I had my keys and a pocket out. That was my biggest word that the that the keys were down at the bottom or something like that. So except Dave takes his phone Scooby diving, Yeah, so search for my keys. So whatever. Yeah, it was dumb, but the good the cool thing was that, you know, I put it up on Twitter like a picture and then I immediately I get like twenty mentions where it's like are you a fucking idiot? And then yeah, yeah apparently apparently yeah yeah, so real talk will kid Icarus totally suck. Jim and NYC wants to know damn that's real talk. Yeah, uh you, I think you're the only one that's really seen it. Is it gonna? No? Yeah? No? All right, well defined totally suck. Like you turn it on and it's like, guess what fuck are you just wasted your money? No, I won't do that. Well, I suspect it won't do that. I don't think that cons for me, though. It seemed like it's kind of a sin in punishment or like a like a space harrier or kind of behind the back shooting. Yeah, and then there's like combat on the ground. It's not a Messiah remake, right, No, it's unfortunately, which none of that sounds like what I would necessarily want out of a kiddic risk game, But I guess I can't really tell you what I would want out of a new kid I risk game. So you are the eggplant, Yeah, give me a egg Give me a puzzle game where I play as the eggplant Wizard. Then there you go. Question for Vinnie, where do you video producing skills come from? Do you learn as you go or as the control room grows? Do you have a degree in something? Me? Video game producing skills. Yeah, you video game producing skills? Where'd you learn how to? Where did you produce video? Learn how for the number four? Right? Yeah? Yeah I did. I did take some stuff in college, but mostly just on the job. Like I don't know where where does anybody learn anything? Really? Yeah? You learn in school stuff, then learn. I'll give you the answer for Vinny. It's as. The big one that I loved was right before we did the big live live show, where we got I think maybe twenty four hours, forty eight hours we got the actual equipment to do the even I don't think it was forty eight I think it was like hours. Yeah. And then so it was literally the day before, staying up late trying to learn the stuff and putting everybody on a green we just it was like you, me and Drew and you just, hey, why don't you stay in front of a green screen. Let's put a really bad set find Yeah. Well that's the technical side. That's the hard that's the hard part of the easy part. Yeah, that's the part that is as scary for us as oh my god, the website is down, what's wrong with them? No, that's the hard part. Is what you need to just kind of make a lot of mistakes and be like, you know what, this isn't gonna work. We tried it, I'm not gonna work. We won't do that again, but we'll do it differently next time. And you can only just learn with doing stuff and making a lot of bad videos and being like that was bad. Was it worth it to make it bad? Or you know, just time and people. A lot of it's just working with as many people as you can. Are you talking about my magic shows? Is that we're talking about your magic show? Magic shows? Yeah? Just ice turning into that would have worked. God damn it, we'd see you just make you gotta make everything in learning experience? What do you do differently? Why do we make the magic work next time? That one we should have rehearsed. That's that's nine times out of ten we tried this beforehand. We would have seen all the the You know, it's funny because I just had just Melissa has been helping out with production stuff, and it was funny because she was we were just getting ready for Riday show. You were you were here. I was on assignment, so you were on assignment. And it's crazy because this is gonna be you of interest to nobody. But hand me that little quarter inch shack right there, sou on uh Thursday, T and T. Yeah, my hand. I'm holding a stereo mat in a quarter inch jack which has a tip on it. Right, tip broke off in the sound mixer in the port broke the tip off right in there, so hard to break this something happened, and so it's stuck in the mixer. Well I had to take the mixer. You can't anything. I'm like, fuck, that's crazy. You know over ten years ago. That's never happened to me. Before Friday, right before the show, tip breaks off in the tri caster. So different ports, different different machine, tip breaks off another totally different same manufacturer, different different different adapter breaks off in there. So about ten minutes before the show starts, I've got the try caster, my lap tops off, I'm with a pair of tweezers and a flashlight in my mouth. But listen, who is now? It's first we kind of helping out get making sure production starts on time. Consider it like, so are we good to go? Like looking up like in a sweat, like yeah, everyone about the time. So yeah, you just kind of learn as you go. You learn as you do, and you know, you have to have a real good curiosity for this stuff because it really changes constantly. So see, I only have like a passing like a I've interest in the video stuff, but I don't have the capacity, I think, to be a good editor or anything like that. So like I'm interested in the tech. Yeah, well you kinda kind of you kind of have it all. And like the tech is the easy part because you know, you just try that up and it goes and if it doesn't work, you kick it until it goes. Yeah, and you know you can sit there and play with it. I think that's what I told Dave when we have a big live live shows, like as long we get this in twenty four hours before, we will be fine. Like I don't care if we stay up for twenty four hours. We'll learn how this works. Because there's only it's either you're gonna learn how it works or not. Uh. The hard part is the kind of like do you know what that tech can do? And can you translate that into a video? Like you know, like what the limitations of you the art of it? Yeah, or like quote unquote art of it, Like do you know what you can do and then can you make that into your vision like with the tools you have. So yeah, that's the fun. But yeah, two quarters incredible, incredible you get buying those monol price tips, I guess. So, man, there are important pieces of equipment, but man, that really sucks. Next question, how do you fly an airplane in battlefield? I could never I never got used to the vehicles and battlefield Like I'm especially if you were playing with the PC, right it was you're playing with a mouse, and it's yeah, like none of that stuff isn't it at all? Things with the mouse just always sucked. The problem with vehicle games too is that you know, if you're an inverted control guy and then it for some reason, a lot of vehicle games will invert the invert by default. Like if you're an inverted control it's like and then when you get in a vehicle, it inverts that. Yeah, so it goes the waiting and it's like no, no, and you can't a lot of times you can't change that. I've definitely seen games that late change it. But yeah, it happens a lot of times where inverted controls will work and then you'll get in the turret and the turret will not be inverted. M M. Yeah. Sorry, I'm just bumbing out and this is my PC game, or bumbing out. On the subject of Super Mario, Sunshine, I happen to have a good memory of the day it came out, as it was the day of my parents separated, So you can add that to the game's list of negatives. Not so much question, so much A question, Sunshine. Dave, do you know what's causing the four or four error for new articles on Giant Bomb? Says yeah, are in North Vancouver? Yes, I do. I think everybody here knows. What is it? That's our publishing bug. Yeah, so we have a we have one of those fandom bugs that we can't figure out. It seemed like we were real close, like I spent not last week because I was gone, but the week before, like every article I was publishing I did in front of Coots. It is the worst bug that I've seen that we've that we've had because it's such a simple tool, so for us to not basically what's happening is we've got, you know, a back end. We call it this, you know, this distillery platform, which is where we do all of our news, our videos and stuff, and there's save mechanisms in there that basically we can look at stuff internally on the website before it's actually live, so that we can pass it around, so Jeff and all those guys can actually see what the story is going to look like in the site. And so what's been happening is they've been saving to put it live, but for some reason staying in that weird state. But it's still promoting it on the front pages. Yeah, as if it were a love as if it were live, but it's actually still unpublished. So people it's hard for us to see because we're clicking things and they're working fine because there we're staff and can see everything. But people are seeing it as a four or four, so they're clicking through to it and it's getting a four four, And it's been it's been really hard. We can't figure out if it's we can't figure out if it's a database problem where it's not. It's getting weird signals where it's saving it and then unpublishing it and then publishing it again. Andy's theory about the like the cash like lifetime stuff thirty minute thing, uh seemed plausible when he see he sounded like he knew what he was talking about. It's just weird because we solve much much, much, much much more you know, hard problems than this, Like this is generic like regular website stuff. So we can't figure out, which makes us think it's a weird front industry. But we can't. We don't know what it is. We're trying to figure it out. We've been trying to figure it out for the last two weeks. It's driving us all nuts. I like this is this is turning into like behind the curtain, Like, tell me more about the problems you guys have about oh, con sites. Sometimes I'm amazed, you know how, I'm amaids that games ever get made right, Like yeah, like man games get made. Oh, it was amazed there are stuff codes out and as kind of on time and as well as it does with like you know, like a handful of engineers, like a couple of dudes like fucking breaking tips off and mixers back there everybody kind of just trying to figure out what the hell is going on in front of the camera. Yeah, it's one of th things that like as you get bigger, some things become easier and other things become harder. You know where it's like, Okay, we have more people to spread the work around too, so more stuff is gonna get done. But then all of a sudden, it's like there are more moving parts in the process, so the chances of other weird things going wrong happen, and all this stuff, even just on the production side, it's like we've added so many different pieces. You know, we're not a huge company that has redundancies in that chain, so we've added so many different things in this chain of video production and just technology. One of those things goes down, one wire goes down, and it's like the entire we could don't start Happy Hour own time, right, it's an adapter breaks and it's like on a piece of equipment that is somewhere in the chain. It gets crazy and like, you know, we've added so much stuff to the sites where it's like tracking down those little bugs. That's like where is it. It's somewhere in quests or you know, it's somewhere in you know, fun thing we're gonna get to do pretty soon here. I don't know if we should almost do it like a focus test if if you want to sit in, but we're gonna be able to show a new person how the back end tools work for the first time, it should be all right. Yeah, so I think they're pretty straightforward. Like I'm just saying, it'll be interesting when this new person comes in all the other sites they always have, you know, like guys that come in that are writing a lot of people. Remember, a lot of people are writing outside of this building. Yeah, I guess that's true. So we haven't had too much trouble with that kind of stuff, and we get so few, like you know, things coming from you guys that most of the time, I assume it's it's fairly self explained. We didn't tell any of our external writers that Distillery was rolling out, and no one came to us and said, hey, how do I use this? So? Oh that's good. So that's always good, you know. Yeah, that's why I turn it off. That's why I always turn them off. That's old tools. No, yeah, it's like, yeah, you guys, I know that if I don't turn it off, because yeah, I wouldn't. I wouldn't use the new tools if if if the old tools were still want to use distillery one point? Oh click here, no skip the intro? Yeah, yeah, with so Calm Forward releasing on the same day as Portal two in World Combat. Does anybody in the office even care about it? On personal level? You guys ever? Do you guys ever play So Common? I really don't care about it on a personal leving at all. On a on a kind of professional level, I do, yeah, Yeah, not interested at all. I was super into So Common and so Calm too, because there was nothing else like it on the PS two. But I don't know, I haven't played. We've had a copy for a while, I haven't had time to play it because I've been honest excited about the previous games. You were disappointed by, I m'd say, but you were definitely you were excited everything. Everything from Socom two forward has been very disappointing as far as I'm concerned. So SOCM four is the original, guys, going back to it. So, I think the game has a lot of potential. I think the beta seemed like fun. But you know, there are a billion shooters out there now, so it's not quite the situation where there where Socom kind of stands alone on this platform. You know, there are world class shooters on the PlayStation three, you know, so we'll see I should probably start playing that pretty soon. Here reviews of that will be hitting today. Not ours, but but a lot of reviews should be going up with that. I'm interested to see how that how that goes. These questions just keep coming in and they are all about the Persona four anime. Man. I like to like, we've become your Persona gateway. Yeah, like, yeah, your number one source for from the world of Persona for entertainment. M why not do a TNT on home Front multiplayer? Yeah? If we start ironically doing bad games, I'll give you a call. My friends all suck? How do I go about getting better ones? That's a really sad one. How do you get better friends? Guys? Why did what? It's I don't need more context. Why there's friends think he sucks? Maybe you have to I think you have to do like weird social group things like you gotta go find No you can't. No, I'm not saying like you, but Alice, are you going to meet people? Like new job? Meeting people's hard? I mean, especially like as you become an adult and stuff like that, and and like, oh it's it's impossible. It's like if you if you don't like hanging out in bars and even that's terrible, Yeah, terrible, Like what are you gonna do? Hang on laundromats? There you go, problem solved. Not gonna work. Yeah, I joined like a book club. If you're younger, then it's even I think it might be even harder too, if you're like locked into your school or something like that. You know, like, I know all these kids here, they all suck. Now, I need to be surrounded by them. It's kind of the beautiful thing about the Internet. But it's not necessarily people meeting people. It's you know, anonymous individual number one meeting anonymous individual number two. Yeah, and that's okay. It can be a long lasting anonymous relationship. I've got plenty of long lasting anonymous but they're still anonymous. I get inste messages from people's real names I don't know, like fairly regularly. It's all right. It's just people you talk with, Taylor. Yeah, if you don't, you know, haven't necessarily met, but you know, you played quake with them a long time ago. These are all IRC dudes for me. Yeah, I guess you end up in a workforce, you switch jobs. Jobs are probably my my easiest way to these days hang out with your girlfriend's friends. See what they do. Be that guy God made weed, man made beer. Who do you trust? Yeah? Thanks? A lot of good questions like all right, I don't know they should both be legal? Or what do you want me? I don't know, I don't know whatever. People are out of their minds. Uh, they can't all be about Are they really all about anime? There's a fair amount of them. They're about the persona for anime. Yeah. What's the best PC real time strategy game? Let's say StarCraft two problem. What do you think? What do you think? I like the relic stuff, Yeah, that's very good, the Donald War stuff about Dune two thousand. Okay, that's Dune too, that'll pass. Yeah, just Dune too. Yeah, yeah that was laid down those planks on the sand like Aja Empires. I really liked. Yeah, a lot of people. I like the Total War games a lot, and I like the relic games. I think the StarCraft games are fairly old school and I can't I can't get into them. I don't like the multiplayer all that much, and I don't want to manage all that stuff, Like I just don't have time for it, manage all let's if you don't have time for it, but you're gonna play Showgun. Yeah, but that it at least it's all mixed up. It's not like just learning one thing over and over and over. It's not like some repetition thing. It's like I've got all the economic simulation, all that, you know, fun stuff. I've got all the you know, the big map, the little map, the naval ball dust. Yeah, and I'm not playing it like you can't really, I just don't see you. You're playing through the StarCraft campaign. I'm sure you do if you want to play it multiple times for the the the difficulty stuff. But the great thing about the total war games is you just play a new and it's completely different. Yeah. So that's why I can do it. A guy is sitting next to me and he's starting to rub my belly. Guys, he's shifting closer to me. What do I do? Tell him? You are not Buddha? All right, short stinct? Hopefully that you get that in time, yeah, you know, yeah tomorrow. Yeah, are you guys excited for Duke Nukem? I saw that trailer with the girls. Yeah, I didn't watch that. I don't look I don't know. I don't want to be offensive because I think those guys make good games, but that game's kind of making me sick, Like I'm tired of it already, Like they're pushing too hard on the like ma cheesemo factor and I feel like not very clever ways. And also they blur out the goddamn tits you're gonna like be like yeah, Duke nukem blah blah blah. Then make that game rated AO or whatever and like show me boobs and like don't mosaic them out, Like if you're that hardcore, that's just a trailer though probably is, but like no, I bet they'll be mysake dah. I don't know, we'll see. There were there were boot was in Duke Nicola three D. That was a different time. They were mosaiced out just by it, you know the way games looked back there, get too close. The entire game was mosaic out a little bit. Yeah, I don't know. I'm like, I'm kind of excited just the you know, the whole thing culture thing of it, but like that does not appeal to me at all. Can I say, like I do not want any story in that game? If there is a story in that game. I think it's that the aliens are taking girls and you need to get them back. Yeah, but I just don't as long as it's I just want a romp, that's all I want. I just want to romp. I just want to go through like kind of olden like if it's fun and that kind I just don't want to like have to sit through weird. Like my memories of Duke nicolb they just don't didn't seem like I don't remember him being this just such a huge asshole, like just this kind of like dude you hate. And that's what I'm feeling, Like I can't get behind him, Like yeah, like this guy is awesome, Like I remember him being a tough guy and like like a like a a macho dude who like kick dudes over and like kick pigs in the face, but not not mean to women. Duke respects a woman. And like here I just feel like this guy'sn't Maybe I'm just too old or something like this guy seems like a douche bag old Yeah, maybe he seems like a guy that would affect some kind of fake French accent and it seems like a guy who's not gonna get the joke when people are making fun of him, Like yeah, that's and that kind of bums me out, like like I feel like he's gonna turn around and everybody's gonna be laughing at him, and he's gonna like finally be ashamed and like kind of go home, be like shoot himself in the head, like what happened to me? That's the story component, Like that's where I feel like that game's going, Like he's like, yeah, I'm back, baby bitches, and everybody's like you still make guys like you what do you mean? Fu? I see for me all my memorable Duke Nuke moments. We're all ultiplayer same. So it didn't have much to do with the character or anything that came out of his mouth. It was all pipe bombs and you know the trip wire stuff. Yeah, like that was all the stuff that that mattered about Duke Newkeham And Yeah, I don't know, I don't know that I ever actually completely played through the single player of Duke three D. I know I played through like the first episode. I was thinking about that recently, like how crazy, Like think about how shareware games used to be and gonna be like there are four episodes in this game. You get the whole first one for free, and now we live in a world with like twenty minute demos rule everything, And I don't know, it was weird, and think about how weird it was that, like the demo was often the best content. Yeah, like Doom one episode one is the best episode. Quake was like that Quake was. Yeah, it was just a different, different time. Get that PC game or disk, get some good games on that thing. Yeah, totally demos. Yeah, uh, it doesn't sound like they're make questions. Yeah, no, I think we're good. I think we're good on questions. Here. There are about another eighty or so here. Let's pick the last one, all right, uh oh hoops, I'd delete them all. All right, good problem solved, Thanks for spending your time sending in. Yeah. Question, Wait, I hit refresh and now they're twenty more. Great take number twenty. All right, let's scroll down here. Sloppy Joe's. Is this sandwich good eats or just two damn sloppy? I love Sloppy Joe's with like chips on the sides, and then like when the sloppy falls, Yeah, you just grabble with chips. It's great. It's sloppy Joe. So manwich a type of sloppy Joe. You make a manwich? Okay, I think so that's it's just the spice component though you're buying. I guess, yeah, I don't know. Sometimes sloppy jowls are weird because they're like Sometimes they'll be like the same reason I don't like meat loaf out of the time, will be like onion chunks and other weird stuff in them that I'm not totally on board with. But that's a constant. There needs to be onion. I don't like you just like them all mushed up. I don't like onions, So then you don't like meat love Yeah, okay, because it's not feel like sometimes it's always got. It always has onions in it. Yeah, so you just don't like meatless. Sometimes a meat loaf gets into a position meantime, it doesn't necessarily taste like onions. There's always onions in sloppy Joe's. Yeah, I know. I don't really like sloppy Joe's. On much other hand, it's crazy. The only thing I don't like about sloppy jows is when people put like condiments on sloppy like they'll catch up on an No like uh, because it's all already ketchup. What's the the mustard green stuff that you but not relish? No, like a salad, some sort of salad, not salad. What's the damn it leading blanking? It's a Yeah, it's made to lettuce. It's mostly lettuce and mayo. What is uh? Slaw? Slaw? Like a lot of people put slaw on top the sloppy Joe, Like I just cabbage. It's cabbage, not lettuce. I don't know. I think well in the other case and I just don't. Yeah, I don't like putting things on top of sloppy Joe. I just think you have the bun and sloppy Joe by itself. You also need a pretty hardy butt. I've had sloppy Joe's on too thinner bread and that's it just happened. Yeah, Yeah, that's it's just my mess. Yeah, they need a chunky kind of sloppy Joe. It needs some consistency to it, a little bit catchup. It's a tomato basse. Yeah it's gross. Yeah, No, it's gotta have a little spice, mac and cheese in sloppy Joe. That would bank a good combo, but I don't think you necessarily need the bun then just makes it together. Yeah, just throw it in a bowl and eat it with chips and no onions. Yeah, I think about it all right, you're just getting in the way. I like onions. I think you eat onions and pretty much everything. You just don't notice them most of the time. It's a textual thing. It's a constant in cooking. It's just there. It's always there. I don't cook a lot also, Yeah, but you're buying stuff that's been cut. Yeah. Uh, this has been your no onion podcast. This has been the onion free What with the onion free zone. You're in the no onion zone. Yeah. A Persona four anime adaptation just got announced. It's thoughts like that's the when we talk about things that are shitty online. It's when people say a statement and then to go thoughts like they can't be bothered to write what do you think about mac and cheese and sloppy thoughts? The fuck off? That's no onions. You're in the no onion zone. Motherfucker's right, step into the no onion zone. Tell you what I think about that. It's like an old Spice commercial, but no Onion Zone, get out of here. You're kind of wearing an old spicy kind of shirt. I don't even know what that means. I don't know. I would say it's more like a Gangs of New York like sort of I'm, you know, dapper, you're always Yeah, well, I'll do what I can. That's gonna do it. Thanks for listening to the Giant BombCast. We'll be back next Tuesday, Big week. Next week we're gonna be none of us are gonna be here because we're gonna be enjoying. Yeah, I'm gonna be playing a Shadow Warrior shouting, you know, mess with low Wang over and over again. Actually, so Tuesday we're gonna be Oh, that's right, We're gonna be going live on Tuesday with all three of the big releases for that week, so for all at the same time. So choose your stream, Mortal on that and Portal too. We should do that, three separate streams that we need to build like a night trap interface. Yeah. Live streaming, yes, and then you know you have to be watching the portal to live stream at the right moment that someone says when the code key is gonna change, and then we'll just put like a loop on, like you just start looping and you have to figure out what you have to do to get to the next stream channel. Yeah all right, I like it. All right, that's there you go. That's what we're doing, this Amazon stuff. Start start testing. Uh yeah, so tune next week for that. There will be information on the side is to win. That's gonna happen. We'll probably relatively early in the day West Coast time, and of course archive it for those of you that can't join us live. And that's gonna do it. So we'll be back next week with podcasts. Be sure to check out the site. There's stuff on it, right, I hope so I alasta. I'm hoping against stuff for AfOR in that day. Yeah, yes, stuff
