<v Speaker 1>You'll be bed. <v Speaker 2>Hey everybody, welcome to Games Mornings with Me Jeff Grub, <v Speaker 2>your host from giant bomb dot com. Thank you for <v Speaker 2>tuning in. In this episode, we're gonna be talking about <v Speaker 2>one of the biggest ongoing video game debacles of the <v Speaker 2>year and a huge new remake from a beloved horse series. <v Speaker 1>It's gonna be a good one because we. <v Speaker 2>Have Jan Ochoa on the show. Jan, how are you doing? <v Speaker 1>I I think I'm okay. I know I sound terrible, <v Speaker 1>but that's because instead of resting, I decided to go <v Speaker 1>eat a bunch of uh stuffed olives last night. <v Speaker 2>Well that's the cure to what ails you. I think <v Speaker 2>that's that's it. <v Speaker 1>Rub yo yo. I don't mean to freak anyone out here, <v Speaker 1>but anchovy stuffed olives. <v Speaker 2>That's they hit the spot. <v Speaker 1>It was good. <v Speaker 2>It sounds like a little salty treasures, sounds like little <v Speaker 2>salty explosions. <v Speaker 1>I think, like, uh, think about uh what it was <v Speaker 1>it called? Gosh. My vocabulary is normally not here anyway, <v Speaker 1>but it's now just throw throwing out the window. Savory boba. <v Speaker 2>Ooh, it's what that is? Savory boba? Oh my god? Yeah, <v Speaker 2>hell yeah, I'm down. Yeah, I'm definitely like up and <v Speaker 2>down over here as well, Like waking up, my throat <v Speaker 2>feels a little bit throaty, a little bit extra throaty. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>it feels like great. <v Speaker 1>It feels like you got cruised over the course of <v Speaker 1>like three four days. <v Speaker 2>Huh, yeah exactly, And it's like, oh, you know, I <v Speaker 2>thought i'd be recovering more and it's like, and I'm <v Speaker 2>starting to feel some stuff more. So looking forward to <v Speaker 2>the weekend. Maybe gonna take it easy, although there's definitely <v Speaker 2>some other stuff I gotta take care of. But yeah, yeah, <v Speaker 2>I want to just kind of get some rest after <v Speaker 2>a long, uninterrupted several days of NonStop work. But yeah, <v Speaker 2>you you're playing anything right now or not? In no <v Speaker 2>time for that. <v Speaker 1>You just kind of, uh, no time to play anything <v Speaker 1>just yet, unfortunately, Grub. But I know I've talked about this, <v Speaker 1>trying to do one of these in the past with <v Speaker 1>with something, but I don't know how I would format <v Speaker 1>it or how we would necessarily do it. But I <v Speaker 1>would really like to do a quick look on the <v Speaker 1>DGI Osmo pocket. <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, that'd be fun, hands. <v Speaker 1>Down, Grub. You know, me, me and Backler are like <v Speaker 1>little camera perverts. And I had like the three sixty <v Speaker 1>cam that we've we've used in a couple of videos. <v Speaker 1>Now I shoot on like the FX thirty fun. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>and that's great. I have a long standing hate for <v Speaker 1>go pros, right, but I think this might be my <v Speaker 1>favorite camera. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. You were very excited about that thing every time, <v Speaker 2>and like we would start to record. So if you're like, no, <v Speaker 2>use this, and it was like, yeah, I'm like the <v Speaker 2>qualities there, right, It just it just seems like such <v Speaker 2>a thing where it's like, well that maybe that doesn't <v Speaker 2>in a pinch, but that's not how you feel about <v Speaker 2>the pocket. <v Speaker 1>Right, No, No, I mean it shoots four K sixty. Uh. <v Speaker 1>The Ben Star interview that is now out on socials <v Speaker 1>check out that was shot in four K sixty and <v Speaker 1>I was able to crop it in on Ben, crop <v Speaker 1>in on Dan, tons of room to play with it. Shoots, <v Speaker 1>don't mean to startle anyone, shoots a log as well. <v Speaker 2>Oh shoot all right that stuff and Devinui resolved do <v Speaker 2>some color correction. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. The only the major bubber though, is that this <v Speaker 1>thing has skyrocketed in price because of current events in <v Speaker 1>the world. Yeah and everything. Yeah, it was much more <v Speaker 1>affordable the beginning of this year around like force four hundred, <v Speaker 1>five hundred, but now it's like upwards like seven and <v Speaker 1>nine hundred, which is which is pretty insane. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, the DGI dj dj I Osmo pocket is that? <v Speaker 1>Is that the right name? Pocket three? And I know <v Speaker 1>that as soon as as soon as I bought it, <v Speaker 1>I'm like, these fuckers are gonna announce a four two yep. <v Speaker 1>And this this all folks, It's not sponsored. This is <v Speaker 1>me trying to get on their good side, so they <v Speaker 1>send me shit in the future. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, Dji, I I got their uh, one of their <v Speaker 2>gimbals for the phone, and I like that thing a lot, <v Speaker 2>but actually using my phone as a camera is a <v Speaker 2>little bit of a hassle. So I'm like, I was <v Speaker 2>looking at that thing being like, why didn't I just <v Speaker 2>get a pocket? <v Speaker 1>Maybe because of the price. <v Speaker 2>All right, well, hey Dji, hit up your boys. We're <v Speaker 2>right here. We'll wait. <v Speaker 1>Send grub a drone. <v Speaker 2>Yes, send me, Oh god, I want to let me <v Speaker 2>look at me. I'm a dad. Send me a drone. <v Speaker 2>All right, before we get into things, let's explain ourselves. <v Speaker 2>You can go to giant bomb dot com slash joint. <v Speaker 2>If you do that, it gets you add free versions <v Speaker 2>of our show. I am. <v Speaker 2>I'm beginning the preliminary investigation into maybe finding a way <v Speaker 2>to bring back grub Snacks as a some sort of <v Speaker 2>a premium show at the very least, like the kind <v Speaker 2>of thing where it's like, if you want to interact <v Speaker 2>with the show the way we used to and maybe <v Speaker 2>have to be a premium member and then we can <v Speaker 2>put it out for everybody. I don't know. Like I said, <v Speaker 2>I'm experimenting. You can also catch <v Speaker 2>the show later on YouTube. Hello YouTube. All right, we <v Speaker 2>have a lot to get into, so let's start the <v Speaker 2>morning mess with Mind's I launch surprises gamers by being <v Speaker 2>even worse than expected. This is from Alex Co at <v Speaker 2>Dual Shockers. While Mind's Eye is already out on consoles <v Speaker 2>and PC, the fact that there are literally zero press <v Speaker 2>reviews out ahead of release is a warning sign that <v Speaker 2>something's not right with the action game developed by former <v Speaker 2>Grand Theft auto boss Leslie Benzi's I Need the Benz. <v Speaker 2>As it turns out, the game's launch is a bigger <v Speaker 2>debacle than expected. Gamers across social media have shared clips <v Speaker 2>less than flatter or shared less than flattering clips of <v Speaker 2>Mind's Eye bugging out, with one user claiming that people <v Speaker 2>should avoid the game at all costs, and that's in <v Speaker 2>all caps. They go on to say the game is <v Speaker 2>a lock to thirty frames per second across all consoles <v Speaker 2>and suffer from constant stutter issues. Even being locked at <v Speaker 2>thirty frames per second, it has messy performance on PC. <v Speaker 2>We saw that yesterday with the fifty eighty. This machine <v Speaker 2>is pretty beefy. It was. The game was running okay <v Speaker 2>on my side, but it was causing a ton of <v Speaker 2>issues from ovs and apparently that's pretty common. Uh that <v Speaker 2>we were not the only ones to experience that jan <v Speaker 2>very buggy across the board. According to this user, crash <v Speaker 2>issue issues for many people on both PC and consoles. <v Speaker 2>They were playing it over at men Max le Ovator <v Speaker 2>was playing. They rated us because the game crashed and <v Speaker 2>it broke LEO, so they sent everyone our way. Did <v Speaker 2>not They did not send out any review copies on <v Speaker 2>and only praise seems to be coming from sponsored creators. <v Speaker 2>Terrifying facebugs and rag dolls. We saw some of that <v Speaker 2>as well. Yeah, we turned we turned our voice seb <v Speaker 2>into Spaghett several times, five times. I think. Definitely go <v Speaker 2>check out the end of that video if you want <v Speaker 2>to see some wild stuff, and I talked to Chris Person, <v Speaker 2>who's going to put that into the latest highlight reels, <v Speaker 2>so look out for that as well. Yeah, you you <v Speaker 2>were seeing some of this. I played it. It's listen. <v Speaker 2>It plays like a video game, but it's I'm definitly <v Speaker 2>getting the sense that there's not a lot to it, <v Speaker 2>even like even beyond what like like what we played, <v Speaker 2>like the possibility space is just nothing. And then it <v Speaker 2>does feel like glued together in a really precarious way. <v Speaker 1>Greb. You know when you revisit a game, maybe not <v Speaker 1>a game from like the PS two era, but maybe <v Speaker 1>something from three sixty PS three, and you're pleasantly surprised <v Speaker 1>by like how fully fleshed out it is, and it <v Speaker 1>kind of exceeds your memory of the game. I felt <v Speaker 1>that way with Alpha Protocol actually, and then you come <v Speaker 1>across a modern game that looks like a bunch of <v Speaker 1>money was thrown into it, and it is wild how <v Speaker 1>it got to this point. I think the last time <v Speaker 1>I felt that way was with the Last Saints Row game. <v Speaker 1>And I know the last Row game just it was <v Speaker 1>it performed fine, it just but this is a buggy <v Speaker 1>mess that isn't quite as catastrophic it feels like as Cyberpunk, <v Speaker 1>but maybe because expectations were so low for Mind's. <v Speaker 2>Eye, right, I think everyone kind of got the sense <v Speaker 2>pretty clearly from the way that they have been promoting <v Speaker 2>this game, or lack thereof, or you know, the reaching <v Speaker 2>out and say who wants a review code and then <v Speaker 2>never responding to that. That gave us a sign that <v Speaker 2>something was on there. And then I think a lot <v Speaker 2>of people in the public were catching on as well. <v Speaker 2>And then you know, just the idea of like looking <v Speaker 2>at this game and being like, huh, well, are you <v Speaker 2>going to try to be a Grand Theft Auto game? <v Speaker 2>And now they're saying, well, we made a city, but <v Speaker 2>it's not really an open world game, and I'm wondering, like, <v Speaker 2>I played what an hour a little bit more than <v Speaker 2>an hour of the game, and so I'm like, am <v Speaker 2>I still in the introduction phase? And then we'll go <v Speaker 2>over to that city and it will open up? And <v Speaker 2>I'm getting the sense that maybe it doesn't now I <v Speaker 2>don't know, but it does do the thing where if <v Speaker 2>you're on a mission and you veer too far away <v Speaker 2>from where the game wants you to be, it just <v Speaker 2>shuts everything down, game over, you abandon abandoned the mission. <v Speaker 2>And if they're saying it's not an open world game, <v Speaker 2>I'm getting the sense that maybe it does that for <v Speaker 2>every mission and there is no like free roam and <v Speaker 2>explore it because maybe the game doesn't like can't function <v Speaker 2>if you try to explore it in that way, which <v Speaker 2>would be very weird. Okay, Yeah, the free room only <v Speaker 2>a lots after completing the story, and there's almost zero <v Speaker 2>side activities just racing. Okay, So it's like they'll put <v Speaker 2>you in there once you've done everything, and then they <v Speaker 2>kind of have a very limited number of things that's <v Speaker 2>actually you can actually perform. Okay. Yeah, so I kind <v Speaker 2>of see how this happens these days, where you know, <v Speaker 2>a guy who worked on Grand Theft Auto does get <v Speaker 2>a lot of money, a lot of investment, tries to <v Speaker 2>recreate that or replicate that experience for others and really <v Speaker 2>kind of can't pull it up because they don't have <v Speaker 2>the institutional backing of a studio that has done that <v Speaker 2>over and over and over and over again, excuse me, <v Speaker 2>and also has basically unlimited money in rock Star. They <v Speaker 2>probably had a lot of money at Build a Rock boy, <v Speaker 2>the studio that made this under leslie Benci's they certainly <v Speaker 2>didn't seem like they had unlimited money, especially with the <v Speaker 2>idea of Hey, it felt like they were pushing this <v Speaker 2>game out to get out ahead of Grand Theft Auto six. <v Speaker 2>Then Grand Theft Auto six gets delayed, and then they <v Speaker 2>didn't delay this game. Yeah, so that to me, says Jan. <v Speaker 2>They needed to get this thing out because they needed <v Speaker 2>to needed to recoup excuse me some money. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, one hundred percent, Grub and I would assume with <v Speaker 1>all the experience behind Mind's Eye, that there'd be an <v Speaker 1>understanding of scale, right, and if you cannot go full <v Speaker 1>on GTA five GTA six scale, then let's just you know, <v Speaker 1>rein it in a bit and whatever we can do <v Speaker 1>make it more palatable. Because even that hour section you played, Grub, <v Speaker 1>and I mean, we talk a lot about like the <v Speaker 1>first couple of hours in a game being very impressionable, <v Speaker 1>and oh yeah, if that first hour you were kind <v Speaker 1>of just slogging through cut scenes and slogging through robots <v Speaker 1>and they're not letting you run over more than five civilians, <v Speaker 1>what's the point. Well, how dare they? This is an <v Speaker 1>assassin's creed if if the prop if the carrot on <v Speaker 1>the stick is like, all right, you just got to <v Speaker 1>get to like our three, But that opening first two <v Speaker 1>hours is playing as hell, dull as heck, I can't <v Speaker 1>imagine wanting to get further in. I did like seeing <v Speaker 1>the conspiracy theory grub that the first two hours are <v Speaker 1>so slow, so it gets you past the refund period <v Speaker 1>on Steve Yes. <v Speaker 2>I definitely think there's there's something to that, although it <v Speaker 2>might not be helping PS five players say they're getting <v Speaker 2>Mind's Eye refunds. This is from Evan Campbell at GameSpot. <v Speaker 2>Mind's Eye seems to be off to a rocky start, <v Speaker 2>and we're not talking about the games setting of Red <v Speaker 2>Rock Boo. For some players, including on PS five, they're <v Speaker 2>unhappy enough with the action adventure games performance to ask <v Speaker 2>for refunds. Apparently, Sony is granting these requests, at least <v Speaker 2>so far. Spotted by the game. A Reddit post by <v Speaker 2>a PS five owner claims that Mind's Eye players are <v Speaker 2>on that platform are guaranteed a refund if they want one, <v Speaker 2>because PlayStation Support said it was aware of the game's <v Speaker 2>optimization issues and are investigating the situation. Additionally, a person <v Speaker 2>going by Wolfgang on Twitter shared that what appeared to <v Speaker 2>be a PS five refund message from Sony. It states <v Speaker 2>that usually we are not allowed to process refunds for <v Speaker 2>games that were downloaded because of the PlayStation Store cancellation policy, <v Speaker 2>but since the player was supposedly having issues with Mind's Eye, <v Speaker 2>it was granted as as such, the Mind's Eye situation <v Speaker 2>has people calling back to the late twenty twenty release <v Speaker 2>of Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven, which is the last time. <v Speaker 2>I think this really became a big thing where hey, <v Speaker 2>Sony is letting people get refunds on the PlayStation. They <v Speaker 2>don't ever do that, so real bad sign I think <v Speaker 2>for this game. <v Speaker 1>Right, yeah, I remember when Cyberpunk was you could get <v Speaker 1>a refund for that on PS five. That broke mainstream <v Speaker 1>news because of how big it was. I don't I <v Speaker 1>don't see Mind's Eye capitalizing the same way. But it <v Speaker 1>is a big deal if you know you can get <v Speaker 1>a refund on a digital console game, because that just <v Speaker 1>doesn't happen very often, specifically on PlayStation. Am I imagining uh, <v Speaker 1>Microsoft offering refunds for Redfall grub. <v Speaker 2>I you know, I don't recall I don't remember. <v Speaker 1>I just think about it fall a lot, but that's <v Speaker 1>my person who does them. <v Speaker 2>Uh, it would be a little bit weirder there because <v Speaker 2>probably so many people played that on game Pass, right, <v Speaker 2>so there would probably be there would probably be less <v Speaker 2>overall demand for refunds for refall refall red fall at <v Speaker 2>that time. <v Speaker 1>Uh do you see Mind's Eye potentially getting delisted? Right? <v Speaker 2>So that that is what happened to Cyberpunk, like, especially <v Speaker 2>on especially on PlayStation. PlayStation didn't want to give all <v Speaker 2>those refunds. They didn't want to continue giving refunds, so <v Speaker 2>they gave the refunds and then they're like, hey, come <v Speaker 2>back when this game is actually done. And it was <v Speaker 2>off PlayStation for six months, which I mean, God, I <v Speaker 2>don't think that we don't talk about that enough. That's <v Speaker 2>such an insane thing, like such a huge problem for <v Speaker 2>for a game to not be on the biggest console <v Speaker 2>platform for half of a year after you came out. <v Speaker 2>You know, now that game could weather it because it <v Speaker 2>did make so much money on day one just from <v Speaker 2>the pent up hype and demand that they could see <v Speaker 2>it through. If that, if that happens to this game, <v Speaker 2>I just think that's it for Build a Rocket boy, right, <v Speaker 2>Like that's just you know, wrap up the shop there. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I can't see the bounce back happening again with <v Speaker 1>a with a game getting delisted on a major console. <v Speaker 1>I think it's lucky enough that Cyberpunk was able to <v Speaker 1>do it and before then like No Man's Sky, where <v Speaker 1>they're still making content to this day. Grub I saw <v Speaker 1>a trailer for a new patch maybe a week or <v Speaker 1>two ago, insane, but build a rocket, boy, I think <v Speaker 1>this is going to be a very very steep hill <v Speaker 1>to climb yep. <v Speaker 2>And and then to what end? Because the underlying game <v Speaker 2>does seem uninspired at best, and who knows what leads <v Speaker 2>to that? You know, I get the idea of the <v Speaker 2>sense that the reason the missions are so boring and <v Speaker 2>so wrote is because they kind of can't do much <v Speaker 2>with this game or it will fall apart. Like when <v Speaker 2>it's this buggy, you kind of can only risk so <v Speaker 2>much or try so many things, or have so many <v Speaker 2>things interacting with one another. Before now you're like, Okay, <v Speaker 2>the complexities here are so deep that we actually can't <v Speaker 2>even find what is causing this mission to break, So <v Speaker 2>let's just scale it back, scale it back, scale it back, <v Speaker 2>and then now you have something that that doesn't even <v Speaker 2>feel worth saving. Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven, for all its <v Speaker 2>faults at launch, and you know, for being again that <v Speaker 2>I thought was pretty just okay, you know, a fine <v Speaker 2>game at best three out of five stars, it clearly <v Speaker 2>was still worth rescuing rescuing, and time has proven that. <v Speaker 2>I just don't think the same thing will happen with <v Speaker 2>Mind's Eye. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean, there was a lot of other things <v Speaker 1>happening for Cyberpunk that that made it very appealing for people, <v Speaker 1>the world, story behind it and everything. I don't see <v Speaker 1>people being caught up in the story and world of <v Speaker 1>Mind's Eye. I don't see there being a hit runaway, <v Speaker 1>breakout Netflix anime from the Mind's IP anytime soon. And <v Speaker 1>the thing that's like kind of a bummer grub. I <v Speaker 1>don't know the exact size of Build a Rocket Boy, <v Speaker 1>but it's Claire Obscure is one of the wildest examples <v Speaker 1>to from this year. <v Speaker 2>Of like it's kind of rough comparison, a. <v Speaker 1>Relatively smaller team able to put out like an amazing game, <v Speaker 1>and I for me, I think it's easily front runner <v Speaker 1>for my own personal game of the year so far. <v Speaker 1>But again a smaller team with knowing how to work <v Speaker 1>within their means. <v Speaker 2>Yep, yeah, I think so. And then I do kind <v Speaker 2>of glance over at Io Interactive and this is, uh, <v Speaker 2>you know, the first big game they published as part <v Speaker 2>of their their partnership thing, and probably a lot of <v Speaker 2>lessons learned there, probably a lot of like, Okay, uh, listen, <v Speaker 2>maybe we don't go the route of working with the <v Speaker 2>famous name. Maybe we got to work backward with finding <v Speaker 2>the game first. I love it IO two, which is yeah, <v Speaker 2>me too. Yeah, it's it's it's it seems like it's <v Speaker 2>the rough position to be in. <v Speaker 1>Uh. <v Speaker 2>And then you know, they have a lot of other <v Speaker 2>stuff going on clearly, and James Bond and Hitman constantly <v Speaker 2>getting new stuff and you know, including James Bond stuff <v Speaker 2>in hit Man. <v Speaker 1>Uh. <v Speaker 2>So I'm going to be continue to be like a <v Speaker 2>fan of their games, but I do wander to like <v Speaker 2>what this means so that for the future of their <v Speaker 2>publishing business and and you know how that affects them <v Speaker 2>and what changes there. All right, let's move over in <v Speaker 2>this other direction. Silent Hill remake by Blueber Team announced. <v Speaker 2>That's not Silent Hill too, this is a new one. <v Speaker 2>Silent Hill one is being remade by blueber This is <v Speaker 2>from sal Ramano at Kamatsu. A remake of the original <v Speaker 2>Silent Hill is currently in development at Silent Hill to <v Speaker 2>remake developer Blueber Team. Konami announced a partnership between Konami <v Speaker 2>and Blueber Team to develop a new game based on <v Speaker 2>a Konamian intellectual property. Was first announced in February, and <v Speaker 2>I think a lot of us assumed it would probably <v Speaker 2>be this and now here it is. During today's Konami's <v Speaker 2>Press Start broadcast, Konami confirmed the title can will be <v Speaker 2>Silent Hill Won. There's a little bit of a teaser, <v Speaker 2>not much more to it than that, but yeah, this <v Speaker 2>makes just a million percent sense because it's Silent Hill <v Speaker 2>two was so well received. It also is like the <v Speaker 2>moment that people are like, you know what, that blueber <v Speaker 2>Team feels like they are figuring it out, and if <v Speaker 2>you're them, you're like, why not? Why not take that <v Speaker 2>ball and run with it. If you're Konami, clearly you <v Speaker 2>want to have more of that happening because that's working <v Speaker 2>really well for Capcom and Konami is a very successful, <v Speaker 2>very lucrative business. They are, but they haven't had quite <v Speaker 2>the growth in game, I mean that Capcom's had over <v Speaker 2>the last five to ten years, and this could put <v Speaker 2>them well on the way to that happening. In fact, <v Speaker 2>you know, they had that metal gear collection and Silent <v Speaker 2>Hill to remake did have them like one of their <v Speaker 2>biggest growth years ever. And so it's like, yeah, this <v Speaker 2>all makes a ton of sense and I'm looking forward <v Speaker 2>to it. <v Speaker 1>How about you me too, Greb. When Jess and I <v Speaker 1>did Run for the Hills, we obviously started with one <v Speaker 1>and I think it is since held a special place <v Speaker 1>in my heart. Shouts out to Harry Vacation, the protagonist <v Speaker 1>of this game. That's that's what his name is, and <v Speaker 1>I will hear nothing. <v Speaker 2>I believe it per Steve and Harry Vacation. <v Speaker 1>Exactly, and I still hold on to that. I vastly <v Speaker 1>enjoyed my time in Silent Hill one more and I <v Speaker 1>just I don't know. I got to give it. Give <v Speaker 1>it up to Bluebird team for having like this redemption <v Speaker 1>where so many people were clowning on them when it <v Speaker 1>was announced that they were attached to the Silent remake, <v Speaker 1>and I'm so happy for that team that they were <v Speaker 1>able to knock it out of the park. Silent Hill <v Speaker 1>to remake last year very a very haunting remake of <v Speaker 1>the original game and also very incredibly faithful to the <v Speaker 1>original game as well. I know Mike really enjoyed it, <v Speaker 1>Backlar really enjoyed it. I enjoyed it a lot. So <v Speaker 1>I'm very excited to see what that team will continue <v Speaker 1>to do with one, and I hope one is also <v Speaker 1>another success for them that they can at least continue <v Speaker 1>to three yep. <v Speaker 2>I think that that is seems to be a likely <v Speaker 2>scenario here, and then what can Bluebird do after that? <v Speaker 2>It's like there's you know, a lot of possibility for <v Speaker 2>them to continue working with Konami. I think especially if <v Speaker 2>they if the you know, quality of the one remake <v Speaker 2>matches what they did with two, people will be very <v Speaker 2>into what they're going to do next. <v Speaker 1>Also, like go ahead please. One of my still to <v Speaker 1>this day, one of my favorite things about the Silent <v Speaker 1>Hill two remake is just how you could just keep <v Speaker 1>swinging away with James even if there's nothing there, and <v Speaker 1>then he just sounds angrier and more exasperated each time. <v Speaker 1>That's good. <v Speaker 2>This Konami press start event had some other stuff in it. <v Speaker 2>There was like a sweet in free to play game <v Speaker 2>for mobile. I think, yeah, exactly, Jans shrugging for audio listeners, <v Speaker 2>and that's exactly the response. What do we do with this? <v Speaker 2>I don't know. I'm gonna do nothing with. <v Speaker 1>It personally, Joan, Yeah, you know, I'll do nothing as well. <v Speaker 2>Then, you know, then they showed off some of their <v Speaker 2>other stuff that's either coming up or has recently released, <v Speaker 2>like Deliver at All Costs, things that they've been working <v Speaker 2>on with partners, which you know, hey, Kuonami cool, that's <v Speaker 2>a I think that's a neat thing that they are <v Speaker 2>publishing games that I think look neat or have played <v Speaker 2>and considered to be neat. <v Speaker 1>Uh. <v Speaker 2>And then they had a little bit more information about <v Speaker 2>middle Gear Solid Delta and its multiplayer aspect. Snake Eater's <v Speaker 2>fox Hunt brings back online multiplayer, although it's not like <v Speaker 2>Meddle Gear Online that you've known from before. This is <v Speaker 2>from Blair Marnell at GameSpot Medal Gear Solid Delta. Snake <v Speaker 2>Eater recently debuted a new trailer that teased the return <v Speaker 2>of metal Gear Online during today's Konami Direct showcase. The <v Speaker 2>new online multiplayer mode was officially announced as fox Hunt However, <v Speaker 2>it won't simply be a rehash of MgO. During Konami's presentation, <v Speaker 2>fox Hunt director you Sahara described it as camouflage and <v Speaker 2>hide and go seek to the next level, before adding <v Speaker 2>that players will have the choice of remaining hidden with <v Speaker 2>their advanced CAMO or attempting to find their own hidden foes. <v Speaker 2>He added that it shares the same world as middle <v Speaker 2>Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater, but the gameplay will be <v Speaker 2>completely different. Middle Gear Online was originally released in two <v Speaker 2>thousand and eight alongside middle Gear Solid four Guns of <v Speaker 2>the Patriots. While Sahara acknowledged the similarities between fox Hunt <v Speaker 2>and MgO, he added that the former will be its <v Speaker 2>own type of mode because the online landscape has drastically <v Speaker 2>changed since MgO in middle Gear Solid four and middle <v Speaker 2>Gear Solid five. Sahara promised that more information about fox <v Speaker 2>Hunt will be released soon. In the meantime, Konami showed <v Speaker 2>off Snake Eater's eight escape crossover Snake Versus Monkey, which <v Speaker 2>will be available on PS five and PC. Xbox Series <v Speaker 2>X and S is getting a Snake versus Bomberman mode instead. <v Speaker 2>That sounds fantastic too. Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater <v Speaker 2>will be released on PS five, Xbox Series X and <v Speaker 2>S and PC on August twenty eight. Did I say <v Speaker 2>fox Hunt? <v Speaker 1>No? No, not at all cool? <v Speaker 2>Hey yeah, sure, I mean I'm kind of I'm always <v Speaker 2>like very curious about like Konami and like what they're <v Speaker 2>thinking with metal Gear. I know that they have a <v Speaker 2>planned stream or event jan where they're going to sit <v Speaker 2>down with the people who are currently in charge of <v Speaker 2>Metal Gear and tell us what the future holds. I <v Speaker 2>think that likely will contain you know, volume two of <v Speaker 2>the Metal Gear collection, but it you know, could have <v Speaker 2>hints of what is even beyond Medal Gear Solid three remake. <v Speaker 2>But you know, them having a team there being like <v Speaker 2>and hey, we're gonna try to make a new multi <v Speaker 2>mode to go alongside this release. It does feel like <v Speaker 2>they're all in on metal Gear, and I'm I'm for <v Speaker 2>that personally. I like, I don't think the franchise shouldn't <v Speaker 2>necessarily go away because Kochuma is no longer there. <v Speaker 1>No, not at all. I think there is enough existing <v Speaker 1>talent there and like the blueprint and doc Humans are <v Speaker 1>probably laid out somewhere on a USB drive at Konami HQ. <v Speaker 1>So there's enough talented people there to continue that legacy. <v Speaker 1>When did Konami become competent grub Yeah. <v Speaker 2>I don't, I don't. It's like I feel like they <v Speaker 2>just flipped the switch and decided to become competent. Like <v Speaker 2>I like emailed them for something the other day and <v Speaker 2>they responded faster than like, I actually sent out a <v Speaker 2>bunch of pr emails and they responded before anyone else. <v Speaker 2>And people won't know this, but that's weird. Konami used <v Speaker 2>to never respond, mostly because they like scrambled their email <v Speaker 2>addresses and stuff like that, and they would be different <v Speaker 2>every week and shit like that cause they didn't want <v Speaker 2>people talking to. <v Speaker 1>The what it was weird. <v Speaker 2>So it's like it just feels like they woke up <v Speaker 2>one day decided to get serious, and now here we <v Speaker 2>are with them, you know, overseeing a bunch of cool <v Speaker 2>projects from partners and making some cool games and trying <v Speaker 2>something like fox Hunt that is going to probably just <v Speaker 2>be an expanded idea on prop Hunt, I would imagine. <v Speaker 2>But hey, I think that makes a ton of sense <v Speaker 2>for a metal Gear game. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean metal Gear for as much political intrigue <v Speaker 1>and over extended cut scenes as there are there is <v Speaker 1>a lot of space to be goofy in in that <v Speaker 1>that ip, so I'm I'm all here for fox Hunt. <v Speaker 2>Yep, that's right. They probably will show more of this <v Speaker 2>at that Metal Gear event as well, and then we'll <v Speaker 2>get a better idea of exactly what it is. But <v Speaker 2>you know, the way they describe it does make it <v Speaker 2>sound like prop hunt, which I like that kind of mode. <v Speaker 2>That seems to me. And I bet Dan who does <v Speaker 2>has not seemed curious about one of those modes or <v Speaker 2>it does not seem to care about it, will now care. <v Speaker 1>Yes, metal Gear, He'll discover the sub genre of games <v Speaker 1>that has been blowing up on YouTube ten years ago. <v Speaker 2>Yep, all right, Jane, let's take a quick break. Let's <v Speaker 2>get on the other side. We got there's a new <v Speaker 2>FIFA game, not an EA soccer game, a new FIFA <v Speaker 2>game and it has Web three. We'll talk about it <v Speaker 2>right after this, which if we want to avoid the future, <v Speaker 2>go to giant bomb dot com slash join this game. <v Speaker 2>Last morning's I'm Jeff Grub that's Jiana Chow. We're gonna <v Speaker 2>get back into the show. I'll tell you every time <v Speaker 2>I bumped into seb in Mind's eye. He did spaghetti <v Speaker 2>fi in so many different and new and exciting ways, <v Speaker 2>and I gotta say it like that to me, that <v Speaker 2>shows that there is a possibility space in that game, <v Speaker 2>that there is something worth exploring there. <v Speaker 1>There's a possibility for anyone to become any type of <v Speaker 1>pasta dish. I think the last time you ran him <v Speaker 1>over he was less spaghetti and more lasagna. <v Speaker 2>Yes, right right, he became like a ravioli noodle almost. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>it was quite impressive. Again, people should go check that out. <v Speaker 2>That's our mind's eye game. Giant Bomb plays Mind's Eye, <v Speaker 2>I suppose is what. <v Speaker 1>We called it. I'll clip out for socials that that <v Speaker 1>spaghetti section. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, that's why you maybe even do like a quick <v Speaker 2>super cut of each time he spaghetti ffies and then <v Speaker 2>kind of culminates in the great triangle that Seb became. <v Speaker 2>And then I wish the game would just continue, but <v Speaker 2>it's like you can only see so much of the <v Speaker 2>spaghetification because of course it's a game over because you <v Speaker 2>killed Seb. Seb's dead, all right. First post e a <v Speaker 2>FIFA game is out now with a Web three marketplace. <v Speaker 2>This is where the airhorns go. That's right, Yeah, We <v Speaker 2>did it. Everybody, USA, We got a USA. This is <v Speaker 2>from Eddie McCoo, a game spot. After EA and FIFA <v Speaker 2>broke up, the soccer organization vowed to keep making games <v Speaker 2>without without the gaming publisher, and now the first post <v Speaker 2>e a FIFA game has arrived. The arcade style mobile <v Speaker 2>game FIFA Rivals from Mythical Games is available now on <v Speaker 2>the App Store and Google Play for mobile devices. The <v Speaker 2>game was previously available in a soft launch. FIFA Rivals <v Speaker 2>combines high energy arcade gameplay with team building strategy elements, <v Speaker 2>as players can take part in a PvP match and <v Speaker 2>become a manager of sorts and build out their squad. <v Speaker 2>Sounds like FIFA Ultimate Team, but now with Web three. <v Speaker 2>The game also sports a supermode that adds boosts and <v Speaker 2>abilities to help get an edge on the pitch. FIFA <v Speaker 2>Rivals also incorporates the Mythical Marketplace, which is a blockchain <v Speaker 2>based marketplace that allows players to trade by and sell <v Speaker 2>their items. Mythical Games previously released NFL Rivals in twenty <v Speaker 2>twenty four. But I remember that. I feel like I <v Speaker 2>kind of remember that. As for EA Soccer series, the <v Speaker 2>publisher has rebranded the franchises EA Sports FC. Everyone knows <v Speaker 2>that by now that's having its own problems. It's not <v Speaker 2>making quite as much money as it once dead, maybe <v Speaker 2>because it doesn't have the FIFA name anymore. I don't <v Speaker 2>think it's that simple, but maybe, I guess. I don't <v Speaker 2>really know. As far as this goes, feels like the <v Speaker 2>kind of game that gets made if you are someone <v Speaker 2>at FIFA who's like only ever watched CNBC and heard <v Speaker 2>people talk about, Hey, the web three and NFTs are <v Speaker 2>the future and video games are going to have NFT marketplaces. <v Speaker 2>That's a good idea. And you heard that five years <v Speaker 2>ago and you have not heard anything about it since, <v Speaker 2>but you kind of vaguely remembered it. So when someone <v Speaker 2>came to pitch you one of those games, you're just like, Yes, <v Speaker 2>this is it, this is how we're going to be <v Speaker 2>ea yeah grub. <v Speaker 1>Admittingly, I don't know much about the sport of soccer <v Speaker 1>or football other than it is the biggest sport in <v Speaker 1>the world. I think this sucks. It's stupid. It's so dumb. <v Speaker 1>How do you have such an easy layup? I don't <v Speaker 1>know what the equivalent of a layup is in soccer. <v Speaker 1>I'm sorry, h and you just fumble the bag like this, <v Speaker 1>like a FIFA has been proven to be like a <v Speaker 1>cash cow purely because of the name, it seems, and <v Speaker 1>losing the name has definitely hurt EA. So if you <v Speaker 1>were adopting FIFA in a game, the game, damn it. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I so I guess, like, let's try to figure <v Speaker 2>out how this would work, you know, or how they <v Speaker 2>claim it would work. It's probably gonna be like FIFA <v Speaker 2>Ultimate Team. But now you're gonna be able to get cards. <v Speaker 2>And with the marketplace, the idea is now you could <v Speaker 2>sell those cards to other people. And because they're NFTs <v Speaker 2>and the blockchain can track that. Sure, that's neat. And <v Speaker 2>the reason that these companies really like that is because <v Speaker 2>they get a cut every time you sell it. So anytime, <v Speaker 2>if there's a healthy marketplace, they get a cut each time. <v Speaker 2>But sort of the players, the players can make money, <v Speaker 2>isn't Isn't that great? Really though I'm imagining ninety five <v Speaker 2>percent of players, I feel like that's even not generous enough, <v Speaker 2>Like probably like more than that are there to play <v Speaker 2>a soccer video game, yeah, and they're there to engage <v Speaker 2>with stuff. And even if they are people who enjoyed <v Speaker 2>FIFA Ultimate Team. Can I tell you one of the <v Speaker 2>problems that FIFA Ultimate Team has had jen please please please, <v Speaker 2>people hacking each other's accounts to steal their stuff. And <v Speaker 2>you know what's bad about the blockchain is you can't <v Speaker 2>call anyone to get that fixed. It's just never gonna <v Speaker 2>come back to you. So it is FIFA Ultimate Team <v Speaker 2>without customer support, which is just an incredibly stupid thing <v Speaker 2>to do, because you're gonna have a lot of people <v Speaker 2>who are just there because they're soccer fans. They don't <v Speaker 2>want to have to deal with all this of this nonsense, <v Speaker 2>and when their shit gets stolen, they want to call <v Speaker 2>somebody and get it reinstated, and they're not gonna be <v Speaker 2>able to do that because Web three specificly, you know, <v Speaker 2>the blockchain specifically prevents that from being a solution. It's <v Speaker 2>stupid and it's and it's not like fucking FIFA Ultimate <v Speaker 2>Team is isn't making all the money in the world. <v Speaker 2>That's the craziest thing. Jan you don't need the blockchain <v Speaker 2>to make money. You can do this the old fashioned <v Speaker 2>way of just running a database that you control and <v Speaker 2>make all the money in the world. Just like all <v Speaker 2>the Ultimate Team games have been doing for forever. So <v Speaker 2>if you want to like take advantage of people and <v Speaker 2>get them addicted to cards jan then then you know, <v Speaker 2>just do it and then actually run it like a <v Speaker 2>regular company that is saying and kind of feels like <v Speaker 2>they know what they're doing instead of just hearing a <v Speaker 2>word on CNBC and making a game based on that. <v Speaker 1>Are like the web three AI bros unaware of well, <v Speaker 1>they're definitely unaware of human touch, but for sure are <v Speaker 1>they unaware of physical products that are also having a <v Speaker 1>gigantic resurgence where people are like, hey, here is this <v Speaker 1>thing that I've assigned value to because it's shiny and <v Speaker 1>it's a fat Pikachu five hundred dollars please, and there <v Speaker 1>are at least a thousand people are like fat Pikachu, <v Speaker 1>please and handing over five hundred plus dollars. You could <v Speaker 1>just do that? What about that? <v Speaker 2>Right? Yeah? And it's like that that makes a lot <v Speaker 2>more sense as well because it has some physical presence, <v Speaker 2>and I think they're like, well, this is the benefit <v Speaker 2>of the physical presence without we'll still having all the <v Speaker 2>benefit it's being digital. It's like, yeah, I don't know <v Speaker 2>if anyone actually feels that way. And if they do, <v Speaker 2>they feel that way regardless if it's on the blockchain <v Speaker 2>or not. You know, like Steam trading cards or whatever <v Speaker 2>aren't on the blockchain, people still feel that way about <v Speaker 2>those things. And yet if you have any issues with that, <v Speaker 2>you can go to Steam support and get help. So <v Speaker 2>I just this just feels like people applying a solution. Well, <v Speaker 2>you know, this is old news too, Like it's honestly <v Speaker 2>more shocking that in twenty twenty five someone's still trying <v Speaker 2>to do this after everyone else tried in twenty twenty two, <v Speaker 2>twenty twenty three maybe and just and it didn't work <v Speaker 2>and everyone just gave up, And it's like, actually, there's <v Speaker 2>easier ways of doing this, why are we even trying. <v Speaker 1>Did something happen to the data scientists grub. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I don't know. The rounded up sounds like, yeah, <v Speaker 2>they're definitely not working on FIFA Rivals. It doesn't feel <v Speaker 2>like I guess going back to like when EA and <v Speaker 2>FIFA broke up and FIFA being like we are we're <v Speaker 2>going to come back to the game space. I think <v Speaker 2>a lot of people predicted exactly this game, like it <v Speaker 2>would be exactly like this, and here we are a <v Speaker 2>big surprise, a company an organization that sucks as much <v Speaker 2>as FIFA making the game that sucks as much as possible, <v Speaker 2>Big surprise. But yeah, who knows how it even plays? <v Speaker 2>Is it like up there with like a FIFA street <v Speaker 2>or you know, a NBA Jam equivalent. <v Speaker 1>I don't know. <v Speaker 2>It doesn't seem like that's. <v Speaker 1>What matters here. Based off of everything I was listening <v Speaker 1>to as you read it, grub, I never got the <v Speaker 1>sense that you played actual soccer. <v Speaker 2>Yeah right. That just feels like you just send out <v Speaker 2>your team or whatever. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, which I know that's the appealing for some folks, <v Speaker 1>but I think they're the majority want to play soccer. <v Speaker 1>Let them play. <v Speaker 2>Soccer exactly they want their they want kind of what <v Speaker 2>EA sports FC has been providing for quite some time. <v Speaker 2>And EA sports FC has a mobile game as well <v Speaker 2>that certainly doesn't seem to use NFTs. Not that EA <v Speaker 2>is like some bashion of of of you know, high <v Speaker 2>minded game design, but at very least they've been through <v Speaker 2>the ringer and can deliver a product that people seem <v Speaker 2>to be like somewhat okay with occasionally. All right, let's <v Speaker 2>move on to the next story. Video game Actor Strike <v Speaker 2>ends today. This is from Eddie McCoo at GameSpot. After <v Speaker 2>reaching a tentative agreement with video game companies to end <v Speaker 2>the eleventh month or eleven month video game actor strike, <v Speaker 2>sag AFTER has now officially confirmed that the strike ends <v Speaker 2>today June eleventh, at the twelve pm. So that's it's yesterday. <v Speaker 2>It's been over since yesterday. Everybody. All sag AFTER members <v Speaker 2>are now cleared to go back to work, including promotional work. <v Speaker 2>The union said it will convene a special meeting on <v Speaker 2>June twelfth to consider the tentative agreement. If approved, the <v Speaker 2>agreement will then be sent for ratification by the union's members. <v Speaker 2>This is also when the full terms of the agreement <v Speaker 2>will be published. The video game companies released a statement <v Speaker 2>regarding the strike coming to an end, with spokespverson Audrey <v Speaker 2>Cooling saying that the companies are pleased to have reached <v Speaker 2>a tentative contract agreement that reflects the importance of contributions <v Speaker 2>by sag AFTER representative performers in video games. The statement <v Speaker 2>goes on the agreement builds on three decades of successful <v Speaker 2>partnership between the interactive entertainment industry and the union. It <v Speaker 2>delivers historic wage increases of over twenty four percent for performers, <v Speaker 2>enhanced health and safety protections, and industry leading AI provisions <v Speaker 2>requiring transparency, consent, and compensation for the use of digital <v Speaker 2>replicas in games. We look forward to continuing to work <v Speaker 2>with performers to create new and engaging entertainment experiences for <v Speaker 2>billions of players throughout the world. I mean, it does <v Speaker 2>feel like they kind of were going to have to <v Speaker 2>keep holding out until they could get something here. Does <v Speaker 2>feel like this is something there was likely zero chance <v Speaker 2>they were going to be able to hold the tide <v Speaker 2>of AI completely. So getting a world in which they <v Speaker 2>can have some control over what consent looks like, what <v Speaker 2>compensation looks like is it does feel like a pretty <v Speaker 2>decent win for for sag Aftra and the people that <v Speaker 2>actually are for voice performers and capture performers in video games. <v Speaker 2>Do you expect this to change much? I guess we <v Speaker 2>don't have a lot of the details jan, but but <v Speaker 2>it does feel like this is like somewhat of a <v Speaker 2>you know, a sunny outcome. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, any any win for a union, I'm all in <v Speaker 1>favor for UH. Sag Aftra is specifically North America, in <v Speaker 1>America or specifically the US. <v Speaker 2>Right, I think it's primarily in the US. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, okay, because because I just start to wonder if <v Speaker 1>there are protections for voice actors in Europe or in Asia, <v Speaker 1>or if like they just go buy it like better. <v Speaker 2>Labor laws in general. But who knows how who knows <v Speaker 2>exactly what that means? I don't. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, And and I would hate to see the studios <v Speaker 1>shying away from hiring sag AFTRA actors just because of <v Speaker 1>this whole situation, or if those relationships have dried up, <v Speaker 1>please go higher actors of all varieties. <v Speaker 2>Yep, exactly. The strike was kind of just always happening <v Speaker 2>there in the background, but there were still, you know, <v Speaker 2>a lot of performers from around the world that we're <v Speaker 2>appearing in a game. So I think you're right there. <v Speaker 2>It probably was mostly North America. <v Speaker 1>We actually got a super chat here, SAG member here. <v Speaker 1>I remain skeptical based on previous contracts, but let's hope. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. I think that is one thing I've I've heard <v Speaker 2>before is the union it's competency when it comes to <v Speaker 2>delivering on these deals is just the track records. Excuse me, <v Speaker 2>It's not great. And I don't think this is suddenly <v Speaker 2>suddenly going to mean like things are the conditions are <v Speaker 2>going to be wonderful for performers. They are likely are <v Speaker 2>still going to mostly have to find for themselves, but <v Speaker 2>if they can just have some baseline protections, I guess <v Speaker 2>we'll see. I do think though, in jan in five years, <v Speaker 2>it does feel like a lot of these companies are <v Speaker 2>just gonna be like defaulting to AI regardless of what <v Speaker 2>happens here, and what do we do about that? I <v Speaker 2>plan to mostly just kind of keep shouting about it <v Speaker 2>when it sucks in a video game, and even beyond that, <v Speaker 2>where it's like, you know, the human touch is clearly <v Speaker 2>going to make a lot of these things just that <v Speaker 2>much better, and I will continue to call that out. <v Speaker 2>And whether these companies care about that, well, you know, okay, <v Speaker 2>maybe you don't care about it the first couple of times. <v Speaker 2>But over time, the company that shows up and does <v Speaker 2>like feel like they made something special because they worked <v Speaker 2>with real people, they are going to begin to stand out. <v Speaker 2>And these other companies are going to build up a <v Speaker 2>reputation of just being content mills, and once you have <v Speaker 2>that reputation, it's going to be a hard thing to shed. <v Speaker 2>But do they care about that or do they care <v Speaker 2>about short term profits? Like we know the answer. <v Speaker 1>We all know it's the short term. Yeah. I mean <v Speaker 1>with the problem with AI, there's several problems scrub. We <v Speaker 1>don't need to get into all of them, but specifically <v Speaker 1>with voice acting, you don't get someone like a Troy <v Speaker 1>Baker or Ben Starr, right, you don't have a run <v Speaker 1>way public darling like Ben Starr and like Ben Stars <v Speaker 1>cemented himself and like now the video game cultural canon <v Speaker 1>rightfully so because he's super duper talented, but also because <v Speaker 1>like he is just game to do whatever, and then <v Speaker 1>like AI, you are just forcing to do whatever, and <v Speaker 1>there is no creative touch. There's no creative aspect to <v Speaker 1>like AI voice performance, right other than loosely give feeding <v Speaker 1>it a bunch of different keywords in hopes that you <v Speaker 1>get what you want. And also, I don't know, like <v Speaker 1>every voice actor that we've had on this website on <v Speaker 1>the couches have always seemed to be extremely personable people <v Speaker 1>that also actually care about the projects that they're in. <v Speaker 2>Yep, I think that is a trail that has now <v Speaker 2>been blazed by a few people. I think Ben Star <v Speaker 2>is currently the one like leading that a little bit <v Speaker 2>of Hey, there is room for us as people who <v Speaker 2>who can love these games and be passionate about it <v Speaker 2>and go out there and speak on the behalf of <v Speaker 2>these games so that when we finish the reading the <v Speaker 2>lines on the page, our value does not disappear immediately. <v Speaker 2>And you know, Ben Star has shown how that works. <v Speaker 2>It seems like a huge hustle. It seems like, you know, <v Speaker 2>not like a negative hustle, but like it seems like <v Speaker 2>a lot of hustling is required to get yourself in <v Speaker 2>that position. Like you can never not be front and center. <v Speaker 2>You always have to be reminding people, Yeah, I'm in <v Speaker 2>this game, and I love this game, and I care <v Speaker 2>about it. I care that you care about it. Let's <v Speaker 2>talk about it, and I'm gonna go on all these shows. <v Speaker 2>It seems like a lot of extra work, but it <v Speaker 2>does seem like a little bit of what is necessary <v Speaker 2>to prove the value of yourself as a performer in <v Speaker 2>these games. And yeah, shout out to people like Alex Jordan, <v Speaker 2>a bunch of others we talked to. Jen English was <v Speaker 2>great to talk to. I hope they all continue to <v Speaker 2>find a place in this space, because it's better for having. <v Speaker 1>Them Also, I think it just legitimizes the art of <v Speaker 1>voice acting, specifically in video games even more of Like, right, <v Speaker 1>a lot of people don't take certain voice actors or <v Speaker 1>voice acting seriously at all because of the amount of <v Speaker 1>work that you wind up doing, and people will just <v Speaker 1>be like, oh, well, your IMDb is super huge, like <v Speaker 1>what is the role? Well, the problem with voice acting, <v Speaker 1>not the problem with voice acting, but the nature of <v Speaker 1>it is that you do have to take on so <v Speaker 1>much work that sometimes you are just maybe a filler <v Speaker 1>voice on top of being a notable voice in something. <v Speaker 2>Yep. Do you think when Mike met Jin English, he <v Speaker 2>held Jin English? <v Speaker 1>Keep that man away from everyone? <v Speaker 2>Yep, just just put him in a confined room by himself. <v Speaker 2>All right, let's get into some switch to stuff here <v Speaker 2>a bit does Flagship controllers are now compatible with the <v Speaker 2>switch to. This was like happening steadily over the first <v Speaker 2>week of the switch twos live ape. It do was <v Speaker 2>adding some my beta firmware updates, and now it's just <v Speaker 2>seem to have finalized many of them. This comes from <v Speaker 2>Ben Lions, a game reactor. But the quick thing here <v Speaker 2>is the Flagship models are now compatible with switch to <v Speaker 2>as long as you do firmware updates that includes Ultimate <v Speaker 2>two Bluetooth Controller, Ultimate Bluetooth Controller, Ultimate two CE Bluetooth Controller, <v Speaker 2>Ultimate Seek Bluetooth Controller, Pro two Bluetooth game Pad, s <v Speaker 2>N thirty Pro Bluetooth game Pad, and the USB Wireless <v Speaker 2>Adapter two. There's also some talk about the USB Wireless <v Speaker 2>Adapter more getting a compatibility update here pretty soon. I <v Speaker 2>love those controllers, so I'm glad to hear this. I <v Speaker 2>did hear that the Ultimates no longer turn on the <v Speaker 2>switch to if you shake them, so in the end, <v Speaker 2>Dan Reikert, who never believed that that worked, was right <v Speaker 2>in the end, and I'm devastated by that. I hope <v Speaker 2>they're able to figure that out, but I'm not hopeful. <v Speaker 2>It seems like the kind of thing you'd have to <v Speaker 2>specifically make the hardware to do and work with, and <v Speaker 2>that there's no reason to assume they'd be able to <v Speaker 2>trick the switch to into turning on. But oh well, <v Speaker 2>other switch to stuff, let's start with this one I <v Speaker 2>actually didn't list here. There's a battery percentage bug that <v Speaker 2>is making the switch tows battery seem worse than it <v Speaker 2>actually is. I think what happens Jan is it gets <v Speaker 2>down to like one percent and then it can run <v Speaker 2>for like another hour, and it's like and Nintendo is admitted. <v Speaker 2>They're like, oh, yeah, this is broken. We are going <v Speaker 2>to try to fix this. So you can like check <v Speaker 2>your battery percentage and be like, oh, this thing is <v Speaker 2>about to die. Apparently it's not accurate, so they're going <v Speaker 2>to fix that. And that's like, oh okay, So my <v Speaker 2>mind right now the switch to switch tos battery life <v Speaker 2>is pretty questionable. Maybe it's better than I was even realizing, <v Speaker 2>because I'm just seeing that thing drain faster than it <v Speaker 2>should be. Sure, so maybe there's some some silver lining there. <v Speaker 2>Maybe there's some good news, because as it stands right now, <v Speaker 2>jan looking at that thing, I was like, oh, this <v Speaker 2>battery life is a little bit worse than I was expecting. <v Speaker 1>Okay, it's just like your car when like the gas <v Speaker 1>light goes on, you can still go for at least <v Speaker 1>in a good ten miles. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, Jane, I'm the kind of person who definitely has <v Speaker 2>explored the horizons of when the gas tank is actually <v Speaker 2>gonna be empty. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, same same. I maybe won't climb a hill, <v Speaker 1>but I'll keep rolling along. <v Speaker 2>Have you ever actually ran out of gas. I've only <v Speaker 2>done it once as a kid. <v Speaker 1>I was like sixteen. <v Speaker 3>Oh uh, very close where I had to pull over <v Speaker 3>and then just fill the truck I was driving with <v Speaker 3>miscellaneous gas in the back. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I I was just was you know, I was <v Speaker 2>in my nineteen eighty Chevrolet Malibu filled with my chuckle <v Speaker 2>fuck friends, and so I wasn't paying attention to the <v Speaker 2>gas gage at all. And it's just I never looked <v Speaker 2>at it for like like a week's week. <v Speaker 1>We have a guest calling into the show. <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, go ahead, Hey, what's up? <v Speaker 1>Please? Hello? <v Speaker 4>Right, God, Please do not drive your car when there's <v Speaker 4>no gas in it. If the light is on, it <v Speaker 4>means that the fuel pump is sucking in air. It's <v Speaker 4>going to kill your fuel pump. And then after it <v Speaker 4>kills your fuel pump, it's gonna fuck up the EVAPP system, <v Speaker 4>which it's really expensive to fix. <v Speaker 2>So please, God, put. <v Speaker 1>Casting your car before the light comes on. Thank you <v Speaker 1>so much. <v Speaker 2>I'll shut up and listen. Thank you Nicki Grayson for <v Speaker 2>your expertise in this field. I am I'm an old <v Speaker 2>man now now I fill it up. If it's like <v Speaker 2>a quarter of a tank, it's left, so all right. <v Speaker 1>Well, now I feel bad for so many cars that <v Speaker 1>I've driven. <v Speaker 2>Grubb, I like a broke kid. I would be like, whatever, <v Speaker 2>this thing keep going for forever? Is that really? <v Speaker 1>The lights on? <v Speaker 2>It means it's I'm breaking the cars at that simple like, <v Speaker 2>you know, I trust Nicky Grayson. I believe it. Either way. <v Speaker 2>My car ran out of guess my friend saw me <v Speaker 2>and he had a guest tank. He was like the <v Speaker 2>responsible one. He was also sixteen, and he's like, oh, <v Speaker 2>there's my shithead friend. I gotta go save him, all right, <v Speaker 2>others switch to stuff. Splatoon three's the latest update is <v Speaker 2>out now, boosting switch to resolution and frame rate. I <v Speaker 2>tried this out Jan looked pretty good. Yeah, I also <v Speaker 2>tried this out. People are really good at Splatoon now. <v Speaker 2>There's so good at it. It's sary. Yeah. <v Speaker 1>It's like I know that, uh, like a skill creep <v Speaker 1>or power creep, power level creep, whatever the phrases, is <v Speaker 1>like really strong when you abandon, when you the general <v Speaker 1>population moves on from a game, but the little freaks <v Speaker 1>out there that hang onto a game and this becomes <v Speaker 1>their whole life, Oh jesus. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, And I definitely feel like I was going up <v Speaker 2>against the team, and I was on a team. People <v Speaker 2>that listen, I got. I did the best on my team, <v Speaker 2>highest score on my team, fifth highest score out of <v Speaker 2>everyone playing. Because the other team just demolished us. <v Speaker 1>So how big is the team again? Four? Yeah? Okay, <v Speaker 1>so you me, Mike, Dan, Andy Snowbike, Mike Blessing, Nick, <v Speaker 1>let's go. <v Speaker 2>Let's go back at splat boys. Let's make it happen. <v Speaker 2>All right, Yeah, I'll challenge Andy. Let's see what we <v Speaker 2>can make it happen. <v Speaker 1>Uh. <v Speaker 2>Mortal Kombat one is playable on switch To despite like <v Speaker 2>warnings about compatibility, and it runs way better, which, hey, <v Speaker 2>big chacker, Switch one was struggling with Mortal Kombat one, <v Speaker 2>so it better run better. But that's like some good <v Speaker 2>sign there that even before they get in there and <v Speaker 2>do the work to fix whatever in incompatibility issues that <v Speaker 2>they are talking about, it's already a much better performing game. <v Speaker 2>And then there is a report that Red Dead Redemption <v Speaker 2>two may be heading to switch To, which that game <v Speaker 2>came out in twenty eighteen. Right, that that feels like <v Speaker 2>a game that even despite what it looks like, you know, <v Speaker 2>a gorgeous thing, it looks visually unmatched in a lot <v Speaker 2>of ways. Do I feel like something that if a <v Speaker 2>game came out in twenty eighteen, in my mind, it <v Speaker 2>should just be able to run on switch to and <v Speaker 2>I'm sure it can maybe at thirty frames per second. <v Speaker 1>Though, as soon as a dev had said, like, you know, <v Speaker 1>it's kind of like a PS four in your hearings, <v Speaker 1>I've just run away with that and not bothered to <v Speaker 1>look up any other technical aspects. Grub, yep, exactly. <v Speaker 2>All right, let's get through these other things. Stellar Blade <v Speaker 2>is off roaring start on PC. It had over one <v Speaker 2>hundred and thousand concurrent players, which is impressive for a <v Speaker 2>game that came out on PS five more than a <v Speaker 2>year ago. Yeah, that just kind of ran it just Yeah, <v Speaker 2>there's a lot of Yeah, it's had one hundred and <v Speaker 2>forty seven thousand's almost one hundred and fifty thousand concurrent players. <v Speaker 2>That's more than the Last of Us Part two and <v Speaker 2>God of War Ragnarok. So maybe PlayStation should get more <v Speaker 2>into goooner games. And then finally Hershey teams up with <v Speaker 2>Pokemon for new collectible chocolates. Jan you gonna do it? <v Speaker 1>No, No, Grub, we have talked too much about allowing <v Speaker 1>children to partake in questionable things. Do not eat a <v Speaker 1>silica packet. Do not eat silica gel. Also, eating a <v Speaker 1>bunch of candy can be bad for children, not just <v Speaker 1>because of your teeth. And it's fine if you got <v Speaker 1>baby teeth. I guess they're gonna fall out, but like dangerous, <v Speaker 1>it's still dangerous. <v Speaker 2>Also, you know diabetes, yep, just overall. But but you <v Speaker 2>don't have to eat them. You could apparently just collect <v Speaker 2>them and put them in this giant case that shows <v Speaker 2>you all the ones you can collect, and then you <v Speaker 2>have to go actually buy them, buy a bunch of <v Speaker 2>pokemon Hershey's kisses bags, and then they have the images <v Speaker 2>on the bottom of the kiss and then you put <v Speaker 2>them upside down in these slots and it looks like <v Speaker 2>there's one hundred and fifty slots there, maybe more, maybe less, <v Speaker 2>I don't know, and you display them, I guess, and <v Speaker 2>you just have a Then you just have a box <v Speaker 2>of old hershey Kisses in your house forever. <v Speaker 1>I love display chocolate grub. <v Speaker 2>This is weird. <v Speaker 1>This is weird. Does Hershey's know that they could have <v Speaker 1>just put like a card in like the bag. <v Speaker 2>Right, You can just put a card in. Yeah, get <v Speaker 2>in the people love the cards. I don't know if <v Speaker 2>you know this jam. People are into Pokemon cards. They <v Speaker 2>could have just put one of those in the bag. <v Speaker 1>Or perhaps maybe a Pokemon is printed within the Hershey's <v Speaker 1>Kiss foil and then you just collect those. <v Speaker 2>There you go. I tell you what we're gonna do. <v Speaker 2>I'm gonna collect them. I'm gonna get all one hundred <v Speaker 2>and fifty. I'm gonna keep them for fifteen years, and <v Speaker 2>then I'm gonna feed them all to Daniel Dwyer's that's <v Speaker 2>the plan. So he can eat anything. Nothing can kill <v Speaker 2>that man. All right, That does it for headlines. We <v Speaker 2>have a poll question that I should bring up now <v Speaker 2>from yesterday's show, There We Go. Are you going to <v Speaker 2>play split Gate two? I'm gonna click no. Along with <v Speaker 2>ninety percent of other respondents who said no, they are <v Speaker 2>not gonna play split Gate two, ten percent said yes. Yeah. <v Speaker 2>The game seems to be doing alright. It had something <v Speaker 2>like three million downloads or something like that, but the <v Speaker 2>excitement does not feel like it's there. Split Gate one <v Speaker 2>was one of those is like one of those ones <v Speaker 2>that popped up during the pandemic and people are like, hey, <v Speaker 2>I wish Halo was good. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, and I feel like the bubble, I don't want <v Speaker 1>to say burst, but the bubble dissipated very quick after that. <v Speaker 2>Yes, you're right, and then they've done no favors for <v Speaker 2>themselves at least, you know. I'm sure there's some people like, yeah, <v Speaker 2>gotta love that hap Really, I can't imagine there's many people. <v Speaker 2>And then he apologized, and I don't know, it's just <v Speaker 2>a weird thing, but overall, like even put that stuff aside. <v Speaker 2>I didn't have a lot of excitement for Split Gate two, <v Speaker 2>and it doesn't seem like many others do as well. <v Speaker 2>We have a new poll question, are you going to <v Speaker 2>play Resident Evil Requiem in first or third person? I <v Speaker 2>am curious about the results of this one. I think <v Speaker 2>I do think people prefer third person, but God shout <v Speaker 2>out to all my other first person freaks out there, like, <v Speaker 2>I like third person too. I'll play both both perspectives <v Speaker 2>and games whatever, But I do feel like first person <v Speaker 2>is a little underappreciated and it's worked really well for <v Speaker 2>Resident Evil so far. But that said, I'm glad you <v Speaker 2>have the option for Requiem. I think that is the <v Speaker 2>best way to go forward. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I think I've maybe just growing up with like platformers, yes, <v Speaker 1>always acclimated to this third person and like going to <v Speaker 1>first is a little bit jarring sometimes if they want <v Speaker 1>to do both where it occasionally switches to third person. <v Speaker 1>I'm also okay with that. It worked. <v Speaker 2>You know, it worked in Indiana Jones. Actually, yeah, yeah, yeah, <v Speaker 2>that worked really well. Man. I keep thinking about that game. <v Speaker 2>I really really ended up loving that game. People are <v Speaker 2>asking me, what is what is going to be like <v Speaker 2>the like primary perspective in Capcom's eyes. They showed the <v Speaker 2>trailer to us at Summer Game Fest in first person, <v Speaker 2>and it does feel like the spooks of the game <v Speaker 2>are designed for first person, I'll say, But okay, that <v Speaker 2>means if you go in third person, it does seem <v Speaker 2>inherently just slightly less scary. So maybe that's a good thing. <v Speaker 2>Maybe it's just like almost like an accessibility option for <v Speaker 2>people like me or her a little bit cowardly, And <v Speaker 2>it's like, if this gets a little scary, I can <v Speaker 2>go in third person and try to like disconnect myself <v Speaker 2>from the action a little bit. But I don't know, <v Speaker 2>all right, those are the pole questions got yesterday's we <v Speaker 2>have tomorrow's Jen, what's talk about what's happening on giant <v Speaker 2>bomb dot com. In a little bit, I'm gonna get <v Speaker 2>set up for a big switch to stream. We're gonna <v Speaker 2>do our switch to let's just call it a quick <v Speaker 2>look switch to quick look. We're gonna play hours and <v Speaker 2>hours and hours worth of games. Be and Dan at <v Speaker 2>the very least are gonna be bouncing between several multiplayer games. <v Speaker 2>I've uh, I just that's one of the some of <v Speaker 2>the pr emails I was sending out to like helps <v Speaker 2>get some codes, got a bunch of stuff downloaded on <v Speaker 2>the switch to. We're gonna make that happen here for <v Speaker 2>the rest of the afternoon pretty much. And that means <v Speaker 2>we are bumping voicemail dump truck to tomorrow. Yeah, that's right. <v Speaker 2>That's gonna be on Friday. What time is that, Jan, <v Speaker 2>Do we have that somewhere? <v Speaker 1>I have that as twelve pm Pacific time, so three <v Speaker 1>pm your time. <v Speaker 2>Okay, And then we'll have a upf around that like <v Speaker 2>between there yep and game as mornings will be back <v Speaker 2>tomorrow as well. We'll probably find some time for some <v Speaker 2>maybe some other stuff. I wanted to make Jeff Beckler <v Speaker 2>sit in on an unfinished for Baby Steps with me, <v Speaker 2>but we're busy, so we'll see if we can make <v Speaker 2>some other stuff happen at the very least looking forward <v Speaker 2>to this switch to stream, Yes, Jan anything else we <v Speaker 2>should mention. <v Speaker 1>Yes, folks, if you have not yet watched Giant Bomb <v Speaker 1>at Night, I have readjusted and fixed the audio for <v Speaker 1>night one. All of Night one is broken up into <v Speaker 1>individual segments and is now up on the Giant Bomb YouTube. <v Speaker 1>Night two should be slowly trickling out today after Game <v Speaker 1>Mess mornings, with the audio fixed and adjusted there as well. <v Speaker 1>We're gonna drop that on the Giant Bomb presents feed <v Speaker 1>as individual episodes as well, so you can listen at <v Speaker 1>your leisure. A bunch of games are coming out grub <v Speaker 1>I want to hear. I want to do a quick <v Speaker 1>look for the Altars because apparently it's a Jan game. <v Speaker 1>It may be a Yawn game, but I'll still I'll <v Speaker 1>still claim it. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, you can take ownership of it. Yeah, reclaimed the <v Speaker 2>reclaimed the Dan. <v Speaker 1>We're also a steadily working away to hopefully have the <v Speaker 1>SGF travelog up tomorrow morning. <v Speaker 2>If not tomorrow afternoon, we'renn let you do some work <v Speaker 2>on that this afternoon. <v Speaker 1>Everybody. <v Speaker 2>Let's you, you know, take your time, but yeah, that'd be great. <v Speaker 1>Uh yeah, we're gonna make it happen. Grab. I think <v Speaker 1>your camera froze, but you're looking mad chill, So that's <v Speaker 1>that's that's whatever. <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, that's bizarre. Okay cool. Uh that must be <v Speaker 2>a discord. <v Speaker 1>Issue on top of that. Yeah, yeah, some uh, some <v Speaker 1>things popping off on the website as always, Uh, stay <v Speaker 1>stay tuned, and yeah, I don't know Giant bomb dot <v Speaker 1>com slash join. Thanks everyone for watching all of rur <v Speaker 1>shenanigans during SGF. Oh he's gone now, Oh no, what <v Speaker 1>am I gonna do? I don't know how to end <v Speaker 1>the show? Oh god, he's gone gone. Uh let's see. <v Speaker 1>Uh speaking of Giant Bomb, here is what is we <v Speaker 1>just did that? Oh shoot, you're the best audience in <v Speaker 1>gaming until next time, a lot of you. Goodbye. I'm <v Speaker 1>gonna end the show now instead of waiting for grub <v Speaker 1>because that's a proactive thing to do. M twelve Podcasts <v Speaker 1>points to everyone. We'll see you next. We'll see you <v Speaker 1>tomorrow for another episode of Game Mess Mornings. I'm not flailing. <v Speaker 1>Here's the ad. Not add the video, but goodbye. Oh also, <v Speaker 1>I kind of want to do a pack opening stream <v Speaker 1>for the final Fantasy cards if anyone would be interested <v Speaker 1>in that. Might holler at the homies, all right, next time, <v Speaker 1>We'll see you goodbye.
