I got Drew, I got Ryan, I got Shannon. Mario's over there, Billy's over there, who already had heated accusations from uh Saturday night and ready to go. Guys, it's football week. I'm gonna talk a lot of football today. Not gonna start with it because I have some complaints I need to to mention to the world. But U can you feel the excitement of football? I can. I'm very excited.

00:01:32
Speaker 6: I know we still have the rest of the week to get to the game, but game week just feels completely different. Stoops will talk today. Yeah, we see an actual depth chart out and holding our hands. Zach Cow's out a name starter. Yes, so it's finally here. Very excited.

00:01:44
Speaker 2: It is game week. Even the first Mark Stoops coaches shows tonight.

00:01:49
Speaker 5: Some blue hens. No, it's not they're not blue. What are they? Rockets?

00:01:53
Speaker 2: Rockets?

00:01:54
Speaker 5: That's Delaware. You get some too, Delaware. We should play Delaware. I ain't worry about either one of you. All right. So a couple of things. First of all, we had our ks bar, friends and family opening UH Saturday. A couple of things. Uh one, Shannon, you told me Ryan Lemon made a mess of the plus, am I correct about that? Yeah?

00:02:15
Speaker 3: So Mario first of all knocked into one of our servers and knocked sour cream all over the place.

00:02:21
Speaker 5: Also Mario started it with a sour cream.

00:02:23
Speaker 3: Now, Ryan then tries to be hopeful, gets down and starts wiping up the sour cream, then stands and then stands up, turns around and immediately knocks into another server who's coming with a pint of beer in each hand.

00:02:34
Speaker 4: Is spills beer all over the server.

00:02:36
Speaker 5: Oh wow, Yeah, so you're the one that spilled all the beer. I didn't know that.

00:02:39
Speaker 4: I heard of comedy.

00:02:41
Speaker 5: I heard that there was beer on servers, and that was you.

00:02:44
Speaker 2: It was a great bump because all the beer went on him, not a drop on me, not a drop.

00:02:49
Speaker 5: Good And it was probably just starting. It was a brand new server. Yeah. Well, welcome them to the to the family. It's a lot of fun. Thank you to the people listening here who are friends and family who came. It was exciting. Nice to have had a lot of legends there. I mean, Drew missed it because he was on the Bachelor party, but you had Let's just go through the Kentucky media legends. You had Tom Leech, you had Terry mynern Miners, Rob Bromley, Rob Bromley, right he made Jeff Pikoro made an appearance, right Lee Cruz, Mary Joe used to be Perino now four. Yes, all kinds of legends.

00:03:28
Speaker 2: The biggest rock star in the whole building was your mom. People were flocking to go talk to you about.

00:03:34
Speaker 5: People like my mom was just like had a list just people coming up wanting to meet my mom. There were some people I know a lot people that were there were so nice to my parents. Even Larry, like we had CJ. Cain, who plays with Tyler Childers, like he travels around the world with Tyler Childers, came up to talk to Larry about playing the bass, and Larry, of course no idea who Tyler Childers is, like he's talking to a shanted Larry's like you're in a band.

00:04:03
Speaker 4: He had no idea who he was, and I wanted I wanted.

00:04:05
Speaker 5: To be like Larry. He's in like the biggest like country, like one of the biggest country acts there is. But for Larry was like, well, I played in the it was great, was so sweet and CJ was so nice to him. And like I just I really enjoyed it. It was good.

00:04:20
Speaker 2: Well, I was in an area where I could see the people go to that table your mom and Larry were sitting. All your trancy friends went to see him, All your KSR friends went to see him. All the people just wanted to meet your mom and talk to her. She was She had a steady flow of people coming to talk to her last that night.

00:04:33
Speaker 6: When he started putting Karen on like the social media graphics, there's no doubt Karen's gonna become like I mean, she's already.

00:04:40
Speaker 5: They're already more popular than me in terms of likability. They are. There's no doubt about that. And part of the reason why is what I'm about to do next.

00:04:51
Speaker 2: Here we go.

00:04:52
Speaker 5: Dun dun dum. All right, I'm gonna say this like nicely because I don't want to be one of these like Nimby people. You know what Nimby is like, not in my neighborhood.

00:05:05
Speaker 2: Okay, I hadn't heard that.

00:05:08
Speaker 5: They put up that park. First of all, extremely nice park. It's awesome as far as I've heard, no broken legs yet, although it's coming on that part on that that playground. People there First of all, you couldn't ask for two the better days a web right, people everywhere, Like I think the whole city went to the park at some point, and it seems to have gotten rave reviews. Have you heard that.

00:05:37
Speaker 2: I drove by Saturday morning and it was a zoo, so you knew it had to be popular.

00:05:40
Speaker 5: I mean, and I think it's gotten rave fountains and there's you know, they're they're they're stars and there's just all kinds of things, right stars. Yeah, like you know stars when they come down and like it's it's it's it's it's I feel like the park in terms of as a park Rave review. With that said, I may have to have multiple people arrested. It has caused my street to become mad Max Furios. Okay, the parking situation down there is an issue now. I mean that's true for all towntown events, right, but it's especially true for this, I think because they don't have as many parking lots open because like it's not an event, you know, So my street has become just taken over by people trying to park. Here's the thing, Shannon, you know me, I'm fine with people. I want them to have fun. I want them to do whatever. You're very patient on the road. My street, My street essentially is a two lane street, but three cars could get through if they need to. You are allowed to park on one side of the street. That allows it to still be a two lane street. Are we following each other?

00:07:03
Speaker 2: Ah? You?

00:07:06
Speaker 5: Starting on Saturday, people just decided ignoring the yellow line. Do people still know what yellow lines mean? To park on both sides of the street? Now if it's one day, you know, me laid back, all right, But it's chaos because then it becomes a one lane street at a dead end. Now, think about what a one lane street at a dead end is. You get people going both ways and there's nowhere for them to go. Yeah, okay, so you just run into each other, just look at each other, waiting for each other to move.

00:07:44
Speaker 6: Then more cars pile up behind them. And this happens from nine am till ten pm. Whoa and never stops.

00:07:53
Speaker 5: And oh, by the way, there's a street full of people that need to get out. Okay. Also, my parents are there Saturday, so you can imagine them trying to navigate that. So driving in and out literally is a war zone. I'm going out with a battle axe. Maybe not the best thing, trying to get people out of the way, all right, with your ex So there were many encounters. I'm gonna give you the most pleasant one.

00:08:20
Speaker 2: Okay, the pleasant one.

00:08:22
Speaker 5: The most pleasant one is I go, one person is leaving, so one parking spot's becoming open now again because it's free. This is where everybody wants to be because everything else is charging. Right. This woman, wonderful lady, okay, older black lady with her sister, and there are maybe three kids in the in the back. She's driving a mini van. She's trying to parallel park. Oh, I can tell Shannon, this person is not a parallel park you know what I mean. I watch her go up, back, up and back and up, and I'm like, the restaurant opening is coming. I gotta go get there. So I get out very patiently. I say, ma'am, respectfully, would you like me to park your car? And she said, oh, honey, yes, I don't parallel. That's what she said, I don't parallel. So I got in her car. She's in a minivan and she's got it jacked up to the front. So my knees are like up on my face, and I get in, and I like, you know, I do it. I parallel park the car. Good for you, all right, I get it in. She as I get out of the car, she looks at me and she goes, oh, honey, thank the Lord for men. If it wasn't for men, what will we do? And then her sister's like, oh, if it wasn't for me, And I'm like, now I'm almost embarrassed because you know, I'm like.

00:09:59
Speaker 2: You're the king of all men right now?

00:10:01
Speaker 5: No, no, no, because I'm like you're equal.

00:10:04
Speaker 4: You you're just practicing for your African troops. But you can't.

00:10:07
Speaker 5: You could do this too, right, like we can all do it, you know. Uh.

00:10:14
Speaker 2: She wasn't feeling it though, Yeah, but she was being like overly nice.

00:10:17
Speaker 5: But I didn't want to be the only men com parallel park. That sounds like some rhyme would say, right, but anyway, Then she she walks out, I'm like, I have to get out of my car and go. You've got to back up. If you don't back up, none of us will get out. I can't do this, true. So I did the one thing that I've never done in my life. I called the police, did you? I called the police, and I said, look, I don't want anybody told. I don't want anybody like arrested, but y'all got to do something. You gotta do something about this row. You got like it's a disaster, and I said, someone's gonna get in a fight. You have to do something. They never came that I saw.

00:11:02
Speaker 4: At least turns out they didn't have to do anything else.

00:11:04
Speaker 5: It turns anything and Sunday was a little less chaotic, but still same issue. They gotta do something right, And I'm not like, I'm not the kind of person who goes to this town neighborhood zoning like I don't do that.

00:11:17
Speaker 2: You should, they're fun, but I'm I don't do that.

00:11:21
Speaker 5: But I have registered my complaint privately and now I'm registered at publicly. If it's like this again, next weekend, you may be looking at a host who's head explodes.

00:11:32
Speaker 2: And it's a shame because it's a beautiful park. It was a beautiful weekend, all set up to be a great day for everybody. But there's nothing but you see, you know where I am, Yes, you see how that can happen? Oh, absolutely, I can see it. There's nowhere to go, No you're just stuck. So I mean they're gonna have to police it. They'nt have to toe people to police it or something.

00:11:50
Speaker 5: I think they have to. Like, I mean, one guy parked in my driveway. How do you have the audacity to park in someone's driveway?

00:12:00
Speaker 6: It is a big driveway, but ask true, you don't know if somebody's coming in or trying to go.

00:12:06
Speaker 5: I mean, like you're gonna have to blot me in.

00:12:08
Speaker 2: So it is pulled up there next to the garage. Is there a dedicated lot at all yet for the park?

00:12:14
Speaker 5: There is, but there were so many people out there like I you know, and it's a unique event for the park. I mean not a big concerts. But it's not gonna be like that. I keep happening it now there's a sign that says you cannot park on this side during rupp Arena events. I think it's just got to say.

00:12:27
Speaker 4: Always put gun out there.

00:12:29
Speaker 5: Oh well, my neighbor. You know what my neighbor did. My neighbor put rocks in front of their driveway and a sign in the yard said get out. You should do the same thing.

00:12:39
Speaker 2: Why you didn't do the same thing?

00:12:41
Speaker 5: Have any rocks?

00:12:42
Speaker 2: But I guess drive down and get in. They need someplace to turn around.

00:12:47
Speaker 5: The reality is, if they don't have my driveway, I don't think they could turn around. They'd probably just have to abandon their cars and leaving that I still couldn't get out.

00:12:54
Speaker 2: Wow, so car graveyard over there it is.

00:12:57
Speaker 5: So anyway, I've registered my complaint to the city the police. You're right, Channon, I said, they have to do something, have to do something, and they didn't have to do anything.

00:13:08
Speaker 2: Let's get Linda Gorton on it to help.

00:13:10
Speaker 5: You because they didn't do a thing. And what was I gonna do about it? Like, I mean, there's nothing I could do about it. So I was like, well, I you know these conversations like.

00:13:21
Speaker 2: A UK game, there's what twenty home games a year you're gonna have every weekend.

00:13:24
Speaker 5: They see the sign that says you can't post here during repperena events, so they don't. But this isn't a arena.

00:13:32
Speaker 3: True for thirty bucks, I can get you a no parking anytime sign. I'll throw in the thirty bucks to get you a no parking sign.

00:13:39
Speaker 4: Just go out there.

00:13:40
Speaker 5: Do I have the ability as a citizen to determine that a people can't park on a street. I don't think I have that ability.

00:13:46
Speaker 4: I mean, and somebody unless somebody pulls it up.

00:13:49
Speaker 5: The police didn't come, so I guess it doesn't matter.

00:13:51
Speaker 4: They're not gonna come yankee.

00:13:52
Speaker 5: Or not coming either way out there. Well maybe I should. You should just hang up my own no parking anytime sign on the street. You there were some nails sticking out of it. Put at the end of your driveway. My poor parents. My mom just here's what my mom did. She came and just sat at the window like for an hour and looked outside and goes, this is gonna be a problem for you. Yeah, yeah, this is gonna be a pro I was like, Mom, please sit down like you staring at it is not gonna make it. She cares. She's been a good mother. If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, we are gonna preview UK Toledo the Blue Hens and the Cats playing Saturday. This is Kazer. It's a good song choice I do like I do like the park. It's it's beautiful and there were a million people. Yeah, and we came added to tray like a lot of good. It's definitely head to traffic. Believe me, I can tell but uh thing, it's overall positive thing for the city. Beach boys. Now, I will tell you I ain't never gonna have to pay for one concert there.

00:14:54
Speaker 4: Shit, that's cool.

00:14:55
Speaker 5: Year in my soul, in my restaurant, in my house. Yeah, in the restroom and then everywhere. But so that's good. When they start getting good acts, that'll be good. Have you used the splash pad yet? Will we catch you out there splash splash pad. I'm not gonna splash pad. I don't feel the need to pad or splash, but but it'll be good eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. One person says, Matt, do you use the same tone with the police that you did on the radio. No. I was very polite. I didn't even say my name. I was like, this is the street, this is the issue. I'm a concerned citizen, I said. I didn't want to be like you know who you know I would, I'm just it. I just wanted to say, hey, this is like something to be aware of. You're just someone looking out for their community. I did. I do think. I said you have to come out, and Shannon has proven that was a complete false.

00:15:45
Speaker 4: Don't tell police what they have to do.

00:15:46
Speaker 5: They have to do one thing, and they were fine with it. UK Toledo twelve forty five on Saturday. Nervous because I didn't name the starter.

00:16:01
Speaker 2: Yeah, I like I said, I don't want to be too overconfident, but I'm not nervous. I feel like that's this is a game that I think it'll be a close game, but I think Kentucky's gonna win.

00:16:09
Speaker 5: Again.

00:16:09
Speaker 2: They just have better players than Toledo does, so they should win the game.

00:16:13
Speaker 6: And I'm not nervous at all, even though it is a very difficult Week one opponent. Uh, Toledo is very good with you saying all summer we know what Kentucky's up against. I wouldnt say I'm nevous. I still think they win, but I think it will be closer than you want those first non conference games to be.

00:16:25
Speaker 5: Are we winning at halftime?

00:16:27
Speaker 6: Yeah, Toledo was up fourteen to seven here about five years ago.

00:16:31
Speaker 5: I got a little uncomfortable.

00:16:33
Speaker 6: I think it'll be low scoring, probably a boring game, but Kentucky will be in control.

00:16:38
Speaker 2: Isn't just there a stat that like Stoops is really good about covering, Like his team's cover.

00:16:45
Speaker 5: Well kinds a lot, so we cover a lot in losses. We're one of the best teams in the couch it losses. That's not what we want Saturday. It would be possible for us to cover during this game and lose because we're a favorite. We have struggled in week one, Like I mean, we've won all the time except his first year or two, but we've struggled in week one. And we've had a lot of games where we didn't look great in week one, and then I think the Toledo game was the most obvious. We were losing the halftime came back. But this is a team that over the years with Stoops, has taken a little while to get the engine rammed.

00:17:22
Speaker 6: Yeah, in the last few years it seems they've gotten a little bit better about it. Heck, we all remember the early days, needing a spectacular catch to get ahead of Eastern Kentucky that one year and you know, have the Western game.

00:17:32
Speaker 5: To get ahead to win. It was the last drive. Yeah, so we remember those.

00:17:37
Speaker 6: Last year they played Ohio, the MAC team even won the Mac and Kentucky handled them pretty easily if I recall. So hopefully it's more like that. But we all have plenty of memories of when this game has been way too tight.

00:17:47
Speaker 5: Did I see that Toledo came in like sixth last year in the MAC or fifth? Yeah?

00:17:51
Speaker 4: They were?

00:17:52
Speaker 5: Why? Why is what is the reason I have not followed the Toledo off season? What is the reason that everybody thinks they're going to be so good?

00:18:01
Speaker 6: Well, they went five hundred in the MAC last year, which didn't great. That's why the middle of the pack. But outside of the conference games, they beat Pittsburgh and Mississippi State, they went too and ohero in the Power Four. And then they bring lots of people back and d train them. Their coaching staff's been together like a million years. They're just a program that's continually good. Last year, they just lost some conference games.

00:18:22
Speaker 2: In their quarterback. Like in the Heisman conversation, even like that can't be true.

00:18:26
Speaker 3: Oh no, No, what he's talking about is Fox Sports did a simulation where they ran at twenty six times and one of those times the Toledo quarterback won the Heisman.

00:18:35
Speaker 4: So take that what it's worth.

00:18:36
Speaker 5: You didn't think that was reality though video game.

00:18:39
Speaker 2: There was something where he's being promoted, like I thought I was the Heisman candidate.

00:18:43
Speaker 5: He has a big year. Okay, yeah, you wan you want to go with that.

00:18:48
Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna go with that.

00:18:50
Speaker 5: Fact checked. I'm go with that. Look at his heisman on. Let's say, if anybody seven seven two seven seven four or five two five four at ky Sports Radio and Twitter, can anyone find proof? Yes, it was up to someone. You think they when you say they were being or promoting, who's they?

00:19:04
Speaker 2: Maybe the Toledo sports writers.

00:19:08
Speaker 5: Are there? Toledo sports writer.

00:19:10
Speaker 4: This was a story at Kentucky Sports Radio dot com.

00:19:12
Speaker 5: Okay, what is it to?

00:19:13
Speaker 3: But I don't have it in front of me, but I remember reading it. And again it's Fox Sports that did this.

00:19:18
Speaker 5: But it was the simulation of the video game.

00:19:20
Speaker 4: It was a simulation for no for the regular season, I.

00:19:23
Speaker 5: Believe, But it was on a video game.

00:19:26
Speaker 3: They ran numbers, they ran analytical numbers. I'm not sure if it was for a video game.

00:19:30
Speaker 5: I think if it was not a video game and Fox Sports ran it and he won the Heisman, I will say that that your your comment is relatively correct. Yeah, all right, I'll give you a relatively correct.

00:19:43
Speaker 2: I knew nothing about a video game. I just saw something where he was like in the conversation.

00:19:50
Speaker 5: You're currently putting him in the conversation. It's I don't know his name, but it's very nature Drew and media members putting him in the conversation the Hesmand right now on a pretty big show. People might reference this in their previously. This is gonna be great because now people will say they're referencing him for the high freight and they might be using us.

00:20:09
Speaker 2: That's right, yeah, Rightan and put him in the Heisman conversation.

00:20:12
Speaker 5: All right? Does anyone think this is just like an easy win and the game is not in question? Shannon, you've been very positive on this tip team. Do you think this is an easy win? Yes?

00:20:24
Speaker 3: And if it's not, then we've got much bigger problems on our hands. I'm not nervous at all about this. I think Kentucky wins, and they win convincing.

00:20:31
Speaker 5: Now, sometimes though, teams that are good can have a bad I mean, remember Notre Dame last year went to a championship game and lost to Northern Illinois.

00:20:39
Speaker 2: Yess right.

00:20:40
Speaker 5: You know a lot of people forget they lost to Northern Illinois last year and ended up in the in the championship, so that can happen. I'm not saying that if we lose Saturday, I'm gonna be like, hey, We're still going to the championship, but you know, I could see it being a difficult game. There's never been a Kentucky team in my lifetime since I've been doing ks R, at least that I've known less about than this. I freely admit to knowing almost nothing. I'm I've set aside part of Friday for study up for the pregame show on Saturday, But I acknowledge in part because of their lack of doing the things that UK Football has done over the years to promote their team, in part because of the massive transfer of talent Drew. I have no idea what to expect. There's a lot of people like you. If you think about like the depth chart, which is probably coming out at any minute now, there's going to be a new starter at most positions. How many positions are we going to even have a returner? I mean, j Cory Macklin, he didn't.

00:21:42
Speaker 6: Start and start the receivers, running backs, quarterback and most of the offensive who are going.

00:21:48
Speaker 5: To be the return Joshkatis, Jagger, any other offensive Lineman Farmer, Kid Farmer, Jalen Farmer, all right, Defense Alex Safari.

00:21:58
Speaker 2: Jordan love it, Jordan love it.

00:22:02
Speaker 5: There's a little more maybe six returning start. Yeah, defensive line has some back.

00:22:08
Speaker 2: Khalil Saunders and just say a haze on.

00:22:11
Speaker 5: Some of those dudes. Some of those guys have been replaced them.

00:22:16
Speaker 6: So it's probably seven eight positions at least where you're gonna have brand new people in there.

00:22:23
Speaker 5: What kind of crowd are we going to get?

00:22:25
Speaker 2: Well, we've talked about the opening day crowd is usually pretty good. You know.

00:22:28
Speaker 5: I saw two tickets on the front row of one section for one hundred bucks today. That's not good. I'm worried about it. I know, friends, I think it's gonna be huge for Old Miss Saturday next Saturday. I'm a little worried about this Saturday.

00:22:41
Speaker 6: The people that set up the big tailgates tradition, I'm not worried about them because that's what they do. But they don't fill the stadium. You need just a common fan. You gotta get you gotta get the cash. We'll to fill the stadium. Yeah, we'll see. If I'm nine to twenty two eighty seven, give us your thoughts. We'll take your calls.

00:22:58
Speaker 5: Right after this KSR TJ. Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. He'll make them.

00:23:03
Speaker 4: Pay now more.

00:23:04
Speaker 3: Kentucky Sports Radio present it by Stockton Mortgage.

00:23:07
Speaker 4: Here's Matt Jones.

00:23:09
Speaker 5: Walterback Tucky Sports Radio EF. I'm not two eight oh twenty two eighty seven text machine seven seventy two seven four five two five four one person rights, Matt, no offense. But how do you have opinions on football this year while admitting to not knowing much about the team. I mean, if people can are not allowed to have opinions about things without knowing much about it, most conversation would stop. I mean, when I get on Facebook, everybody has an opinion about everything, and a lot of those people I went to high school with, and I remember what their grades were on the subjects that they do have opinions on. I have multiple friends who failed many classes in biology, who are experts on medicine. So yes, I'm just acknowledging. I'm acknowledging what is true about most people in your lives that talk about sports. They don't know as much about it as they think they do. I'm just acknowledging it. I don't know much about this team. Now this week will change it a little bit, we'll know more. But one person writes, Matt, part of it is your all's fault. You've talked less about football than any year ever and that's partially why fans don't know it. I mean, maybe a little bit. But let me also just be real. We're in the business of entertaining. This is an absolute fact. Take it to the bank. You can believe me or not, but it's true. Of all the topics we have talked about this summer, the one that kills the phone lines and kills the text machine the most is UK football. I can talk about UK basketball, I can talk about parking, I can talk about cheeseburgers, I can talk about the Reds, I can talk about fly fishing, and we will get triple the phone calls and triple the text mess and UK basketball than UK football. When I talk about UK football, it gets the least response. Now I feel some responsibility to still talk about it because this is a UK show and I want to whatever, But that's just the reality. There is less appetite for UK football than I can ever remember it reminds me of when I started doing this years, years and years ago when Joker was the coach, and that was the last time Ryan it has been like this. Now starting Saturday, that will probably change, but it's just how it's been.

00:25:22
Speaker 2: And it's with so many new faces, so many unknowns. They kept things so quiet over the you know, the off season. They didn't expose a lot of their guys to us. I mean, there's just a lot of things we don't know about this team.

00:25:33
Speaker 5: Now you come out if we win by thirty, Drew, it's a different conversation next week, yep.

00:25:38
Speaker 6: Right, But that's just how it is right now, and it's liked just us. I went to their spring game, which you can't even call it a spring game. I mean there's no one there, and they didn't even tweet about it from their own social media count. There was like they didn't even want people to know the practice was happening. Back in the day, they did this. I mean, they did this, and maybe it'll be a good strategy.

00:25:54
Speaker 5: Maybe we'll be halfway through the season, we'll be five and two, fan base will be rowing and it'll be a good strategy. But if it's not, they only have themselves to blame. They did this. You're right. The spring game is a perfect example. Fan Day got almost no like you know, media like, it got almost no advertising leading into it. I think it was the lowest attended fan day they've had. They did this, and so you know, now you have a situation where we have a quarterback that we're playing that could walk down the street and wouldn't be known. That's just different.

00:26:30
Speaker 2: It just did I had no idea what do you even look like? Until he sat down with this on media day. They should agree with you forefront. Ever since the spring the Heath should have been the poster child, get out there and meet the fans.

00:26:41
Speaker 5: But once the game starts, all of that matters significantly less. And so we'll see Adam go ahead, Adam.

00:26:52
Speaker 7: Hey, Matt. First of all, to the texture or color, who said that, you know it's your all's fault because you're not talking about what are you supposed to say? Because you know, pull off the CALIBERI line like, I haven't seen them.

00:27:03
Speaker 5: That's a great point. I mean what there is a sense of when you don't know the players, you haven't been told anything about them, you haven't been allowed to watch them. Practice and you haven't seen them play. What is there even to say? They seem like nice people, I mean, just nothing to even say really in some ways.

00:27:23
Speaker 7: Yeah, I've actually this weekend talked myself into I think Kentucky is gonna win comfortably against Toledo, and Drew hit on it. I think Van Hollis talked about it on Tom Leash to show that, Yeah, UK even though they were bad last year, only won four games. They beat the mac Champ forty one to six, and then that same team beat Toledo twenty four to seven. Like, I don't understand where the Toledo hype's coming from.

00:27:48
Speaker 5: That's interesting. That's a really I hadn't thought about it like that, but that is interesting. Appreciate. Adam Van Hiles, by the way, is the new co host of the KSR Football podcast. Over the years that it's been Jared Lorenzen, Freddie Maggard, Max Duffy and a lot Charles Walker, a lot of folks, and then every time they have one he ends up something you know, going somewhere else or something happens. And now you have Van Hiles, who does for people who don't know, does extensive breakdowns of football on Twitter after games that people really like.

00:28:20
Speaker 6: Yup, we're doing our first one after this show. We're gonna do a little later this afternoon, looking forward to to talking to Van. As you said, we've been doing it for years, started with me, Raush Freddy and Jared. Where's mostly Jared Freddy just telling locker room stories. Austin McGinnis did a couple of years. Well, I mean, heck, it's thirteen. I don't know how many years we've been doing it, but it feels like a long time. And now we're excited for the new chapter of Van. So we'll be promoting that this afternoon. I have something I think you'll like, Shannon. Did you see Tommy Fleetwood finally won in golf? That's the whole thing.

00:28:51
Speaker 5: Do you know who Tommy Fleetwood is? Sham?

00:28:52
Speaker 2: He's a golfer.

00:28:54
Speaker 5: Crap. If he wasn't a golfer one that would have even been more so.

00:29:00
Speaker 4: You should have asked me that before you said he won, and go.

00:29:02
Speaker 5: I won the tour championship. He had, like had Ryan thirty top fives okay leading up to this, and had never won, never won a tournament, thirty top fives, never won. Think about that, Yeah, had multiple tournaments this year, like led the final day and then choked.

00:29:21
Speaker 2: Wow.

00:29:21
Speaker 5: So he wins. So I watch him winning and I'm thinking, Shannon, that's very cool, Like I'm pulling for this sure. So as I look at him, though, as he's walking up the thing, you know, I don't know a lot about him. So as I'm looking at him, I walk up and he's walking up the eighteenth I'm like, how old is he? Because I thought he was pretty young, but he kind of looked old yesterday, like he just looked a little haggard. Maybe it was just the pressure of everything. Maybe he hadn't gotten sleep losing. Yeah, So I looked him up and he was thirty four years old, and I thought, well, he looks a little older than thirty four, but I can see it. Then he wins, he makes the putt, he wins, and this guy comes on the green and hugs him, and I'm like, oh, that's probably like best buddy because they look to be the same age. Huh. And then he goes that's his step son, and I was like, hm, his step.

00:30:20
Speaker 8: Son looks as old as him, looks as old as him. Okay, I say, you're taller than him. It looked like I was like, that's odd. Step son looks old as him. Then I looked it up. Tommy's thirty four wife fifty seven. Now, let me be fair.

00:30:40
Speaker 2: If that's flipped, nobody says a word.

00:30:43
Speaker 5: Nobody says a word. Nope, right, fifty seven year old dude thirty four year old woman. Nobody would think one thing about it? Well, man, I think something, but that wouldn't be we probably wouldn't even be talking correct, But that is something you don't see a lot if that way, right, I have to think, though, Shannon, they got to be like crazy in love. Right's a good looking dude. Looked a little haggard yesterday, but he's a good looking dude fifty seven. So then of course I'm like, how did they meet? When did they whatever? Because he seems very close with the step son. They met when he was twenty six and she was I guess what, forty nine, forty nine, and that's when they fell in love.

00:31:33
Speaker 4: How about that early special have.

00:31:39
Speaker 5: You? Can you think of another famous couple with an age gap like that but flipped where the woman is twenty three years older than the guy.

00:31:52
Speaker 4: Stifler's mom.

00:31:55
Speaker 5: Well, I don't think they were married in the movie.

00:31:58
Speaker 2: No, yeah, they were.

00:32:00
Speaker 5: You're right. Uh, what is the difference between the president of France and.

00:32:04
Speaker 6: His wife Macron? And uh, that's the first one that came to mind. She's seventy two and he is, well, give me a second, Okay, so that's seventy two. So she's seventy two and he's forty seven. Forty seven, so that's twenty five. Yes, and she was his teacher, right, I think that's the story.

00:32:23
Speaker 5: I think she was. She was his teacher. But you don't see that a lot, No, you don't. And so it was really it was really like when the step son runs onto the thing and I'm thinking it's his brother or his best friend, and it's his step son. You just and they were like they clearly really like each other. Probably step son's happy, got somebody to hang out with. He's crying. Yeah, yeah, So does that surprise you at all? Wrong?

00:32:47
Speaker 2: It is kind of odd that our society we do look at that totally different instead of it was flipped.

00:32:52
Speaker 3: Now.

00:32:52
Speaker 2: I remember when well, like, was it Scottie Pippens's ex wife was dating somebody the same ages or something?

00:32:57
Speaker 5: Good? That's a good one. You know, Scottie Pippins's ex wife is Dady Michael Jordan's son.

00:33:01
Speaker 2: Michael Jordan's son, and everybody looks at kind of odd like she's robbing the cradle. But why don't we think it the other way around?

00:33:08
Speaker 5: You know? Well, I mean we know why we don't. That's like sexism, it is, but it was surprising to me.

00:33:16
Speaker 4: Shit, do you know who Calista Flockhart is?

00:33:20
Speaker 3: Apparently al Mcbealeah get married to Harrison Ford and she is twenty two years older than him.

00:33:27
Speaker 5: That's not true, that's what it says. Harrison Harrison Ford's like in his seventies. That would make her in her nineties.

00:33:34
Speaker 4: Maybe she's ninety.

00:33:36
Speaker 5: Do you even know who Calista Flockhart is? No, she was Ali mcbeill. You think Ali mcbill's in her nineties. I'm just saying what Google says. Google could be wrong. See, this is the problem with Google AI. It's just saying, like now, fake things and people just take it as fact. That's not true. If you google a I mean, they have like six different people listed as my wife. Really no, I'm not kidding. If you put in Matt Jones Kentucky wife, they'll have me being name to people like Elaine, like people that are not even real people, or people that I've just taken like pictures with. Yeah, they'll say they're my wife. On AI now they will, so, I mean, I believe you that's what it says, ship, but it's it's sixty. She's sixty. I didn't realize she was that old. And what's Harrison by pushing eighty? Oh yeah, he's got three. Yeah, so they just flipped it.

00:34:33
Speaker 2: Damn j GPT.

00:34:34
Speaker 6: I asked it for some Kentucky basketball stat one time and it said John Wall won the seventy eight championship.

00:34:39
Speaker 5: And I'm like, yeah, we got a little time before.

00:34:40
Speaker 3: That's the problem with googling things. Now AI comes up first. I hate it, and I didn't ask for that, but it's there.

00:34:47
Speaker 5: I think there's now an opening for a search engine that doesn't give me AI answer, right, because jeeves bringing back when there is, because AI, at least the Google AI is not is not particularly good yet. No, you're right. Speaker 7: Yeah?

00:35:48
Speaker 2: Good, that's a good one.

00:35:49
Speaker 5: That's a good one. But they're not still together, are they?

00:35:51
Speaker 2: I don't think so. Marty Stewart and his wife, Oh we talked about that on the show before.

00:35:55
Speaker 5: Yeah. He said when he was a little kid, he listened to her sat play and said I'm gonna marry her and he did. He did. Tonnie Tonnie Smith. She's the one that sings the Cincinnati So okay, Cincinnati.

00:36:09
Speaker 2: Ow I remember us talking about him.

00:36:12
Speaker 5: And then I didn't realize this. They say, Randy Travis's wife is a lot older than him.

00:36:17
Speaker 4: He's old.

00:36:19
Speaker 5: Yeah, see how old Randy Travis's wife is. I didn't know her. Randy Travis and his wife.

00:36:24
Speaker 4: Well, he's sixty six, so what is she?

00:36:28
Speaker 5: I don't know. Apparently Tommy Fleetwood's wife was his agent. Okay, and they have a child to get Oh they do? Now? If they met when she was forty nine, that means she had a child a lot later in life with him. Yeah, right, you have the Randy Travis. I'm looking. I'm not finding rage. Okay, well there you go. Apparently one of the Kim Kardashian's mom is dating a twenty seven year old who's that? Chris Jenner.

00:36:57
Speaker 2: Chris Jenner, she was dating like the yeah, the trainer. He's a lot younger than her.

00:37:01
Speaker 5: How do you know this?

00:37:02
Speaker 2: I used to watch Keeping Up with the Kardashians regularly.

00:37:04
Speaker 5: So you watch Oh yeah, I know it's that show.

00:37:06
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, watch a lot of them.

00:37:08
Speaker 5: I thought she's had a boyfriend for like ten years. That's older.

00:37:10
Speaker 2: I think he's younger the black guy. He's a younger guy.

00:37:13
Speaker 5: Okay, y'all stop arguing. We try to keep up with I deal. I will say I turned on. I wanted to watch something mindless. Turned on the first episode of Hunting Wives on Netflix. I mean, you want to talk about a terrible show, but then I'm probably gonna watch every episode of Have you seen that?

00:37:32
Speaker 2: It's funny? Well, some of your transit friends were talking about that at the party Saturday.

00:37:35
Speaker 5: Coming from Boston, like moves to Texas. She meets all these like maga gun women. Then it turns out they're all a little risque, and then she gets caught up in it. And I mean, it's terrible, but I couldn't see myself watching all eight episodes of it.

00:37:56
Speaker 6: I got home really late from Tahoe last night. Right away, go to Day.

00:38:00
Speaker 5: I'm in, I'm all, can we talk?

00:38:02
Speaker 2: I'm talking about Guild to Day halfway.

00:38:05
Speaker 5: Let's just see what can I say?

00:38:06
Speaker 2: What I told you?

00:38:08
Speaker 5: Uh? Yeah, if you want, Drew.

00:38:11
Speaker 2: There is no way. Matt Jones was sitting at home one night and decided I'm gonna start watching Guildeday.

00:38:19
Speaker 5: I just said.

00:38:19
Speaker 2: I got home from Tyhoe and immediately was her name? They watching Gilda.

00:38:24
Speaker 5: I genuinely like, I don't think it's a great show, but I think it's entertaining. I like it because it's so trivial and stupid. I have the hots for Bertha Russell. Agnes is mean but funny. I'm hoping Ada or Ava or whatever get hooks up with the Preacher. Don't spoiler alert and tell me if she does. Okay, they got rid of mister Rakes, who was so boring.

00:38:49
Speaker 2: Yes, married him off.

00:38:51
Speaker 5: Yeah, got him away. I like, what you know, Gladys Russell's now out on the town. Hopefully she finds a suitor.

00:38:58
Speaker 2: My favorite character is Oscar Oscar.

00:39:00
Speaker 5: Oscar gets more involved as it goes on. It's a good show. Famous said, like they'll be like there's Clara Barton, there's Oscar Wilde, and like T. Washington, there's Booker T Washington. That's exactly right.

00:39:14
Speaker 2: So there's no way you're sitting home like I'm gonna start watching this by myself.

00:39:17
Speaker 5: What was her name?

00:39:18
Speaker 2: What was her name?

00:39:19
Speaker 5: Going? There's no blushing, I'm telling you it was I watch I really like HBO Max probably my favorite of the apps. I turned it on. They I just kept seeing it. Then I was like, all right, one episode, I'm CONFU. You seem to know a lot, you seem to know more than me. Matt got, that's a really good point. You know, how do you know? Booker t We's that's halfway through season two.

00:39:42
Speaker 2: That's right, I'm right the halfway through season two.

00:39:45
Speaker 5: So that means you're watching.

00:39:47
Speaker 2: You told us that you hooked us, you got us excited about it, watch it.

00:39:50
Speaker 5: But if you're all the way through season two, that means you clearly like it enough to keep watching.

00:39:55
Speaker 2: Because Yoga Girl loved it. It is a chicken Girl is halfway.

00:39:59
Speaker 5: Through and it's absolutely it's good.

00:40:04
Speaker 2: It's not your kind of show, though, you know me, you love succession, sopranos me that kind of stuff.

00:40:12
Speaker 5: Have a sense of.

00:40:15
Speaker 2: Please.

00:40:15
Speaker 5: He reads romance novels of reds games. What's your regious? Mima Kahn said, you have a sensitive side. Jim, go ahead, Jim, Jim, yep, go ahead. Yeah.

00:40:34
Speaker 9: So I'm the owner of Chaotic Good and I heard you guys talking about us a little while back.

00:40:39
Speaker 5: Figure to call and say hi, and what's Chaotic Good?

00:40:45
Speaker 9: That's that nerdy coffee shop you guys are talking about.

00:40:48
Speaker 5: The nerdy, dorky people playing games store. Yeah.

00:40:52
Speaker 9: Yeah, I'm the owner over there.

00:40:54
Speaker 5: I hope you know. I say that with love. It feels like to me, I do, Yeah, it feels like to me, you have created like a community there of like dorky Dungeon and Dragons people that play their card games, and they seem really happy. And I'm I'm I guess I'm giving you a hard time, but I also think that's cool. I mean that I'm not y. You realize that.

00:41:17
Speaker 9: No, yeah, no, of course, I mean. Yeah, we we have a great people and and I'm sorry, actually Saturday might have been partially our fault too about your parking situation. We also threw a renaissance there that had like five thousand people show up.

00:41:29
Speaker 5: So yeah, yeah, people and all the stuff.

00:41:36
Speaker 9: So if i's.

00:41:40
Speaker 5: Kind of cool, if I if I came there sometime, would you teach me how to play the Dungeon and then the Dragon?

00:41:47
Speaker 9: I would absolutely teach you how to play Dungeons and Dragons. I've been running the game for more than a decade and love.

00:41:52
Speaker 5: To teach you. Okay, all right, well I'm not sure if.

00:41:54
Speaker 9: I so I will say I think Kentucky has kind of I think Kentucky has Toledo week one. I don't think there's a question about him stick.

00:42:04
Speaker 5: I don't know if there's any Yeah, I know, if I trust your opinion on it. I'm just kidding with you. I walk by that rep place almost every night on my walk, and I do think it's very cool. Uh. You guys really do have a community there, and I think that's neat. Thank you for calling in. Yeah, thanks for having me appreciate it. Well, take a break, be right back. If I'm nine two eighth twenty two eighty seven, it's KSR.
