Speaker 3: Welcome to our two of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.

00:01:05
Speaker 4: Walker back number two, Kentucky Sports Radio eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Text machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five four.

00:01:13
Speaker 5: One person writes, Matt.

00:01:15
Speaker 4: I'm an older listener, uh as you would sometimes call a little old lady. Have to tell you Ryan's always been my favorite, but him refusing to do the sidewalks brings him down a notch for me. Does he not think about elderly people who need a place to walk?

00:01:33
Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm elderly. I'm not out there risking heart attacks scraping my sidewalk. If you want to walk walk in.

00:01:38
Speaker 5: The middle of the street, you think you're elderly, so you I am elderly, But sometimes you claim you're young.

00:01:45
Speaker 4: You don't get to have it both ways. Are you elderly, are you middle aged? Are you young? What are you?

00:01:50
Speaker 5: Yeah?

00:01:50
Speaker 2: When it benefits me, I'm gonna say I'm younger middle age. But right now you get to pick one. Which one do you want to be today? I'm elderly?

00:01:57
Speaker 5: Okay? Yeah?

00:01:57
Speaker 3: By definition, I think you're elderly.

00:02:00
Speaker 5: Really it's fifty nine elderly.

00:02:02
Speaker 3: Oh I thought he was sixty. I think once you get to sixty you're probably olderly.

00:02:06
Speaker 2: You turn sixty August, so.

00:02:08
Speaker 3: We'll call you elderly, and you're going.

00:02:10
Speaker 5: To be elderly in sixty in August. That's crazy, you're sixty.

00:02:16
Speaker 3: I gotta look at it now. I'm curious, like what age actually is elderly.

00:02:20
Speaker 4: I always think of elderly as like, I don't know. I think of elderly as like seventy five.

00:02:25
Speaker 3: Okay, Well, it says generally considered sixty five years or older as elderly.

00:02:32
Speaker 4: I wonder, though, do we do that because that's like retirement age RP and all that stuff. Yeah, all right, so you don't get to be elderly, you're just upper middle age.

00:02:43
Speaker 5: What person? Right?

00:02:43
Speaker 4: Shannon has no room to talk about meteorologists. He's supposedly watching sports, but he hasn't picked a game right since the Reagan administration.

00:02:54
Speaker 3: Well, I thought that's not true. First of all, I get them right all the time. I'll tell you what I did pick and get right was the race to fifteen. I took Old miss and won. That's that's guarantee.

00:03:03
Speaker 4: Fifteen against Kentucky is guaranteed. We I have to think we haven't done too well against the spread this year.

00:03:11
Speaker 5: I don't know what.

00:03:12
Speaker 4: I don't know what our number is, but I because even we didn't cover Saturday, we went by nine.

00:03:17
Speaker 5: It was nine and a half.

00:03:18
Speaker 2: Yep, yep. I think our overall record is pretty poor this year, going to the spread for.

00:03:22
Speaker 5: The record Chane, I guess that spread on the dot during our show. I think he did. And that's exactly what it ended up.

00:03:31
Speaker 2: I don't want to tell you something. This may factory and we talked about the game tomorrow. Vanderbilt canceled classes on campus today and a lot of the campus has no electricity.

00:03:41
Speaker 4: Yeah, so there's a world that could get pushed back. I mean, I don't think they would cancel it. I could see him pushing it back to.

00:03:46
Speaker 2: Wednesday, though, you know too, yep.

00:03:49
Speaker 4: So we'll find out as the day goes on. That'll be interesting because today is Mark Pope's you know, he does a lot.

00:03:55
Speaker 5: Of his stuff today. So we'll see, Uh, we'll see what ends up happening. All right.

00:03:59
Speaker 4: So the snow was the biggest story in the state, and I think the second thing was probably the game, but the third biggest story, and I might argue the second biggest story was this fight down in not County at the middle school game? Okaywhere I can't think of a video that has gotten more attention from Kentucky in a long time.

00:04:23
Speaker 5: So it is car Creek Middle School playing Immalina? Is that a? Is that correct?

00:04:29
Speaker 2: I'm sure how to pronounce it. I've never heard of that middle school before.

00:04:32
Speaker 5: I haven't either.

00:04:33
Speaker 4: Car Creek, of course, is famous because of the high school basketball many years ago. Right right, so it the high school is gone, but the middle school is there.

00:04:41
Speaker 5: And now, am I correct? Are both of these in not County?

00:04:44
Speaker 2: I think that's the story I saw. They're both in Not County, Okay.

00:04:47
Speaker 4: Im Molina not a school I was familiar with? Is playing not as playing car Creek. Car Creek's up forty eight to thirty, Shannon. The live stream of the game does not say where in the game this is. It doesn't say if it's the third quarter, the fourth quarter. Hard to know where we are.

00:05:05
Speaker 5: In the broadcast.

00:05:07
Speaker 4: But now, most of the time, at this point, most of you all have probably seen his video. But if you haven't seen a video, let me just give you a little context. It looks to me and you two feel free to jump in and tell me if you think that. Okay, it looks to me like two kids get in a fight and one kid tackles the other. Is that how it looks like to you all? I think, so, it looks like one kid tackles the other. People come on the floor to try to stop the fight, and it looks to me like the mother of the kid that has gotten tackled is running over to try to help her kid and maybe trying to pull the other kid off of her son. That is that what it looks like to you?

00:05:49
Speaker 2: I honestly didn't know who the mother was there to rescue.

00:05:51
Speaker 3: I couldn't tell who was who.

00:05:52
Speaker 5: The mother is doing something.

00:05:54
Speaker 2: She's trying to rescue somebody.

00:05:56
Speaker 5: Some mother is doing something.

00:05:58
Speaker 4: And then it looks like a man trying to calm the mother down might like put his hand on the mother's shoulder. I think, so, okay, that's what it looks like to me. And then some person named Ryan takes exception to that and he starts going after the guy who has put the hand.

00:06:21
Speaker 5: On the shoulder. Is that how you all see the thing happening?

00:06:25
Speaker 2: I assume I don't know this that Ryan is the husband or the significant he. Yes, I think.

00:06:31
Speaker 4: That's right, So that's the backdrop of what's going now. The audio you're gonna hear doesn't explain any of this. The audio is two announcers, Shannon, who just seemed mortified by all that's happening.

00:06:43
Speaker 3: Yeah, they're just calling what's in front of them, and they don't.

00:06:46
Speaker 5: Really know what to do.

00:06:49
Speaker 4: And they say some things that for me, are gonna go down in legend history. And there are at least two things in here, Shannon that if you don't make them drops, I don't like you anymore.

00:07:01
Speaker 5: All right, So we're.

00:07:02
Speaker 4: Gonna play it first, all fifty seconds or whatever, and I want you to just picture what's happening. Their kids fighting, then mom runs down, then guy grabs shoulder, and then Ryan comes and then it's just it's just chaos.

00:07:13
Speaker 2: Here we go, James, James, this go, get go, get Justin.

00:07:29
Speaker 5: But here we go. Let's get out of here. Let's get the ball game.

00:07:35
Speaker 6: Hey, look here, this ball game is gotta get over.

00:07:47
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, let's go. This game's over now, let's doing this. Do this is my heart play. This game's over now. Yeah, you can't get this over.

00:07:57
Speaker 6: And let me just tell you dry, this ball game is over let's me Yeah, let's we're going to end our live feed. This game has got to come to an end.

00:08:19
Speaker 4: And then it just ends, and then the game and the feed end. Okay, I want to go through some things that I really enjoy about this. First of all, the beginning, it starts, and the first thing that is said is James, go get Justin.

00:08:35
Speaker 3: Justin.

00:08:36
Speaker 5: That's a great question.

00:08:37
Speaker 4: I think Justin is not County's batman, all right, He's the only person that can stop There's a lot happening on the floor. I'm not sure Shannon, what Justin is going to be able to do about this?

00:08:50
Speaker 3: Yeah, Like is it gonna be able to get in there and break this whole thing up?

00:08:53
Speaker 4: But I do like that Initially the first thought is go get Justin.

00:08:59
Speaker 2: Justin must be as only thing I want to.

00:09:01
Speaker 5: Know who Justin?

00:09:02
Speaker 3: Maybe a police officer possibly, I don't know.

00:09:05
Speaker 4: I don't think a police officer can stop that. Justin is gonna come in, James, go get Justed. Then there's like twenty seconds of we can't have this.

00:09:13
Speaker 3: Yeah, wa, this game's over.

00:09:15
Speaker 5: This ain't good. Oh this is oh? Here we go like like there's just a lot happening and then you hear in the background a little you hear the taser. Go listen, you hear the taser, and then they just taste ryme.

00:09:33
Speaker 4: The thing I love about that, First of all, we're gonna use this for our ride for the rest of time. The non chalant way a the man says it.

00:09:45
Speaker 3: They just ry like it just happens everything like it happens every week.

00:09:50
Speaker 4: This is what happens at car Creek games. Sometimes Ryan gets tased. It wasn't outrage even surprising.

00:10:08
Speaker 5: It did not even sound like they were surprised.

00:10:13
Speaker 3: This happens every other home game.

00:10:14
Speaker 5: Here we go again. The other thing is how casual was the tase He just walked up there went this.

00:10:23
Speaker 2: Ye no warning, raised his hands or his arms or anything.

00:10:27
Speaker 5: He's also not in official gear. Who is that man?

00:10:32
Speaker 3: Maybe that could be maybe that was justin.

00:10:35
Speaker 5: It could be justin. Do people just get to walk around tasing people? He doesn't having it.

00:10:41
Speaker 4: He doesn't have police gear on, he doesn't have security gear on's on.

00:10:47
Speaker 5: And I like that. The guy goes They just the collective. They taste ry and who's Ryan?

00:10:57
Speaker 3: Who is Ryan?

00:10:58
Speaker 5: Is apparent he's tasted? And then I like it.

00:11:03
Speaker 4: Well, this is going this game's gonna have to end. I like the the announcer just ends the game. I think Tom Leech should do that sometimes.

00:11:12
Speaker 5: I think when we're up three, we should just tell somebody.

00:11:15
Speaker 4: Tom Leech should go, well, this game is gonna have to just end.

00:11:19
Speaker 5: And then it ends.

00:11:21
Speaker 3: Well, they just taste Mark.

00:11:27
Speaker 2: Wonderful when they tased Ryan and he drops down, like nobody even comes to his defense or lay that.

00:11:34
Speaker 4: Because I think they think it happens all the time. He just like, well, this's the time of night. We tase Ryan to calm me down and we all go home.

00:11:44
Speaker 3: Just tick up Ryan and continue with the game.

00:11:46
Speaker 5: And he falls like a cartoon been tased.

00:11:50
Speaker 3: But I would think anybody probably would.

00:11:52
Speaker 5: He falls just directly down, but he gets up very quickly. Again, I think he's used to it.

00:11:58
Speaker 4: I think he's like halfway through the fourth quarter, I'm gonna get tasted.

00:12:03
Speaker 5: They're just gonna be the way this is.

00:12:05
Speaker 3: He's got like a little bit of an immunity built up to the tase. He can tell you so many times, like you know, like a beasting.

00:12:11
Speaker 2: The video was everywhere though, man, I mean it was all over the place this weekend.

00:12:15
Speaker 4: And they just tased Ryan is the best. So I'm going to need you to shan and give me two drops for the future. Which one James go get Just.

00:12:24
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:12:25
Speaker 3: I don't know when we'll use that, but that's fine.

00:12:27
Speaker 5: No, anytime there's a problem.

00:12:29
Speaker 4: Yeah, if there's technology issues, if we can't get connected, James go get Just. And then secondly, they just tased Ryan. But that announcer deserves an Emmy.

00:12:48
Speaker 5: He's dealing with chaos and yet he stays completely focused and is completely fine. Yeah, not phased in the least.

00:12:56
Speaker 3: The accent to adds a lot to the country. Accent makes it even better.

00:13:00
Speaker 4: Oh that is Eastern Kentucky to the core. Yeah, that is the most Eastern Kentucky.

00:13:08
Speaker 5: Like if you were to draw it for me, what thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth region sound like?

00:13:15
Speaker 4: It's that guy and I don't know who he is, but I love him. And if you're listening or know him, and you can either get the announcer or Ryan.

00:13:27
Speaker 3: We had to check on Ryan, make sure he's okay, either one of them.

00:13:30
Speaker 5: Seven seven two seven seven four five two five four.

00:13:32
Speaker 4: I would love to have on Ryan, either the announcer or that Ryan today before the end of the show.

00:13:39
Speaker 2: Yeah, the main announcer, you're right, kind of keep his composure. The color guy gets a little excited. He gets the one to get laminated. This game's over, it's over. He's got he's.

00:13:46
Speaker 4: Trying to get justin like one guy's trying to stay calm and the other one's trying to solve the situation.

00:13:53
Speaker 2: So somebody knows who they are.

00:13:56
Speaker 4: Oh, listen, First of all, everybody in not count eat Shannon nos Ryan you can tell ye. So if he may knows how to get in touch with this, if he may knows how to get in touch with this announcer, please let me know. I want to have him on the show.

00:14:14
Speaker 5: I'd like to get some more information about what happened because it might be my favorite video in a long time. Clark's Puppet Shop. If you want hook rewards, cold mornings? What hook? What's a hook reward? This is what these copies.

00:14:32
Speaker 4: It says hook reward, cord mornings and dark commutes.

00:14:37
Speaker 3: Well that's not even a sentence, but.

00:14:41
Speaker 4: Let me tell you. Go to Clark's Puppet Shop for coffee, food and more. The Clark's Rewards app. Download it. You get extra points every time you shop, save on fuel during cold weather. The coffee you can come in in the morning. It tastes amazing and it'll get you warm on what are gonna be very cold days coming up. Great pizza, great snacks, community driven. It's Clark's Pumping Shop. Celebrate the blue and White and go to Bluegrass Clark's Pumping Shop.

00:15:05
Speaker 5: Return, refresh, refuel. We'll take a break. Ryan.

00:15:10
Speaker 4: You know everybody in this state. You know every announcer at every little station. Get me this guy's number. Okay, if you get this guy's number, I'll bring somebody to come shove with your shot sidewalks and you don't go to check all.

00:15:22
Speaker 5: Right, deal, Absolutely you can't get this. And let me just tell you he's dry. Welcome back. It is the I was gonna say Kentucky.

00:15:37
Speaker 4: So it's just KSR if I'm nine two twenty two eighty seven, so I'm getting some information, Immalina. Ryan is actually one of the schools we went to during the floods.

00:15:47
Speaker 2: Oh, that was i Molina.

00:15:48
Speaker 4: That was one of the two school we went to. Two schools, one of them was in Molina. I'd forgotten that. That makes it.

00:15:55
Speaker 5: I think that was the one maybe that was collecting all the donations.

00:15:59
Speaker 2: Do you remember that, yes, yeah, kind of the hub for the donations in the whole area was it was.

00:16:04
Speaker 5: Okay, so that's Emilina.

00:16:05
Speaker 4: I'm told that the person that that did the shocking was the school resource officer.

00:16:12
Speaker 5: All right, okay, yeah. Uh.

00:16:15
Speaker 4: One person writes, Matt, did you see on inside the NBA. Ernie Johnson said, they just taste ry.

00:16:21
Speaker 2: No.

00:16:22
Speaker 4: Really, that is amazing. It's amazing how far that video is got. I mean, it's been everywhere. It was on Fox News, it was apparently on the Today Show this morning.

00:16:34
Speaker 5: But the video is amazing. But you gotta have.

00:16:37
Speaker 4: The announcers too, which is why I want to have him on because he's the guy that makes it.

00:16:42
Speaker 3: Yeah, without him, without that accents, Yeah, exactly.

00:16:48
Speaker 5: Did you get anywhere Ryan? Getting the getting the guy I'm working on?

00:16:51
Speaker 2: Like, I got a guy who contacted me that has little more details of the fight. He said, this was the second fight of the game. To get you rejected in the first minute.

00:17:00
Speaker 4: I can fight, all right, thirty seven minutes to get this guy on. You can do this between this state. We can find the announcer, or we can find justin or we can find ride.

00:17:10
Speaker 2: Can I can I lead you guys alone and work on it here.

00:17:13
Speaker 4: No, If I'm nine two eight oaks, come on, you can do it.

00:17:22
Speaker 5: Who's up next?

00:17:23
Speaker 3: Let's go to Ethan.

00:17:24
Speaker 5: Ethan, go ahead, Ethan.

00:17:28
Speaker 7: Hey Mat, hope you guys are doing well. Two things. First off, did you watch the guy climb the skyscraper this weekend?

00:17:35
Speaker 5: Great question? I watched about so.

00:17:37
Speaker 4: I turned it on Saturday night for about thirty seconds, and I couldn't handle it.

00:17:42
Speaker 5: It made me too nervous.

00:17:43
Speaker 4: Even though I later read that he said it was actually kind of easy. I didn't want to be I felt like I would be personally responsible if that man fell off that skyscraper, and I found it to be terrifying.

00:17:57
Speaker 5: Chandon, did you watch it at all?

00:17:58
Speaker 3: Not watch it live? I watched after the fact, after I knew that he made it to the top, and I saw that great picture of him at the top of the building. But I couldn't watch it live.

00:18:06
Speaker 5: I don't know I find it. Is there any backup for him, like if he had fallen, did he have like a parachute or anything?

00:18:14
Speaker 2: No?

00:18:14
Speaker 3: I don't think so.

00:18:17
Speaker 2: Makes me shiver just thinking about it.

00:18:18
Speaker 5: Man yeah, did so. I don't know, so, sir.

00:18:20
Speaker 4: I did watch a few minutes, but it made me too nervous, to be honest with you.

00:18:25
Speaker 7: It was crazy. It was really hard. Second thing, I'm terrified of this Arkansas game. I really feel like if we get blown out, it's gonna really, even if we do some great things, be a really sour note. And what's been kind of a weird season already. And you know, I'll hang up and listen, But really worried about this week. I think it's a big week.

00:18:44
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I mean I'm worried about it. I do not think we're gonna win. I actually think not only does it stink that it's cow, it's also just a terrible matchup for us, Like they do all the things well that we don't. So yeah, I mean, I I think we have a shot ryan of stealing the game in Nashville.

00:19:03
Speaker 5: I don't know that we have a shot of stealing the game in Arkansas.

00:19:06
Speaker 2: I thought we had a shot against the Vandy they'd lost three in a row, but man, they look good this weekend. They just ran him off the floor this weekend.

00:19:14
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:19:14
Speaker 4: But that's the thing, though, is you can't I think The worst mistake you can make in game wing is putting too much emphasis on the last game, you know what I mean. So I look at these teams in the bigger picture, and Vanny's good. But I don't think we can't. I just the way Arkansas.

00:19:30
Speaker 5: Plays, how fast paced, how athletic there, their guards and bigs are. I just if we could, if we shot the ball, well, that would be different. But we don't. And Ryan, that's what makes me work.

00:19:43
Speaker 2: Yeah, more than likely, they shoot the ball really really well, Memorial Gym, So we gotta have some you know who. One thing, one guy we have not talked about yet. Yellovich has hit a three and like every game he started, and just him hitting a three means you gotta respect him. It kind of opens things up a little more. He's been I mean, he had like seven rebounds the other night.

00:19:59
Speaker 4: He's again, but man, he kills you on defense. He does he like you know he does. He can shoot and he I give him credit, he is rebounded pretty well, but it gains you know, when we're playing in the non conference.

00:20:13
Speaker 5: I actually thought he did a pretty good job playing defense.

00:20:15
Speaker 4: But now that he's playing these big athletic sec bigs.

00:20:19
Speaker 5: He just really.

00:20:20
Speaker 4: Struggles to guard. So we'll see Vandy. I give us a shot. I'm not very confident about Arkansas, but there's been a couple of times in the last what eight years, we've gone down to Arkansas thinking we had no shot in won. Yes, remember that one year Antonio rescored like forty down there.

00:20:40
Speaker 5: But different, different time obviously. Now who's next? Bill? Bill? Go ahead? Bill?

00:20:47
Speaker 8: Hey, just a comment in question, playing off of the Arkansas game. You know, they're uh, they're they're they're big man plays so rough at this point, do you think it's a time where you want to try to put qua or do you think our big men are getting such a rhythm with Marino playing good on defense and Yellovich, you know, really putting or really putting in the offense.

00:21:08
Speaker 5: Do you think we just need to leave it alone? You know, the the acquaintance.

00:21:16
Speaker 4: To me, it's not about who we play, It's about just does does he want to play at Kentucky?

00:21:21
Speaker 5: And Ryan I don't know the answer to that, do you know?

00:21:25
Speaker 2: And the more it drags out, the more he sits, the more maybe unlikely he's even gonna make it. Make a return to the team.

00:21:31
Speaker 5: You know, you can't Scooper scuttle Butt.

00:21:34
Speaker 2: Just my own opinion. I just feel like, you know, with this team's kind of finding themselves a little bit, and he's just been sitting over there. I think the more it drags on, the more less likely we're going to see him.

00:21:44
Speaker 5: Apparently the announcer's name is also James.

00:21:49
Speaker 2: Yes, Jamie.

00:21:51
Speaker 5: All right, so I've just sent you Shannon. What someone tells me his number is?

00:21:56
Speaker 3: Okay?

00:21:56
Speaker 5: Awesome?

00:21:57
Speaker 4: Now, one person writes, Matt, my friend Larry said, the guy that tays Ryan is also a preacher.

00:22:06
Speaker 3: Wait, the guy that is a preacher.

00:22:09
Speaker 2: He's a school resource officer and a preacher on the weekends.

00:22:12
Speaker 5: Why this is just what this person says. I don't know.

00:22:16
Speaker 4: I hope that's true. You know, it just adds to the whole thing. The person that's gonna know is Jamie the announcer. See the announcer's name is what Jamie Hughes?

00:22:26
Speaker 5: Is that right?

00:22:27
Speaker 2: Jamie? Jamie Hughes and James Sandlin.

00:22:31
Speaker 5: Well, which one's the announcer?

00:22:32
Speaker 2: I don't know, but that was the broadcast team.

00:22:34
Speaker 4: I want the I would like to get. Well, I'll take either one of them. But I'd like to have the play by play guy. So I don't know which one I have the number of what I just said, you shad either James or Jamie. So they're both named James.

00:22:50
Speaker 2: And Jamie, Jamie Hughes and James Sandlin. That's the broadcast team.

00:22:55
Speaker 5: And then one of them was is Justin That they don't have a lot of variety of names.

00:23:00
Speaker 3: You gotta start with the Jay to be on the broadcasting.

00:23:04
Speaker 2: Justin is the dad of the car Creek kid.

00:23:07
Speaker 4: Okay, So they say when they say go get Justin, that's because the dad is he the dad that punched or the dad that not got punched?

00:23:17
Speaker 5: Not sure?

00:23:18
Speaker 4: Okay, all right, so you need a whole map to decipher this in Not County. Hey, if I'm nine eighty seven, hopefully we'll get this guy right for this.

00:23:29
Speaker 9: TJ.

00:23:30
Speaker 5: Smith, personal injury attorney, called TJ.

00:23:32
Speaker 1: He'll make them pay.

00:23:34
Speaker 3: Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio present it by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.

00:23:38
Speaker 5: There's a great version of this song.

00:23:40
Speaker 4: Shannon. The Aviant Brothers were playing in Louisville the night after Toby Keith died. Yeah, and they did a version of this song which you wouldn't think the Aviant Brothers would sing Toby Keith, right, but they did, and I love it. It's on TikTok and like you can see the Louisville that are the big building in the background, and uh, I just think it's very cool.

00:24:04
Speaker 3: Have to check it out.

00:24:05
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, because I like this song. I think it's a good song.

00:24:07
Speaker 4: Now we found it, right, yes, so join us on the phone. This is James Spradling. He is the announcer for James. Do you do tell me who you do games.

00:24:20
Speaker 10: For Hometown Sports Corner Homestead?

00:24:24
Speaker 5: So do you do games all around the region?

00:24:28
Speaker 10: Yeah, we do them high school, grade schools, college games. We do a little bit of broadcasting all over eastern Kentucky.

00:24:36
Speaker 4: So explain to me the scene, Tell me what the game is, what's going on, et cetera that led up to the clip.

00:24:44
Speaker 8: It's the.

00:24:46
Speaker 10: The middle school, the Knot County eighteen middle school grade school basketball championship.

00:24:52
Speaker 5: Oh, it's a championship.

00:24:54
Speaker 10: It is the champion the grade school, you know, championship to end the season.

00:24:58
Speaker 5: Okay, and this Emmelina and car Creek. Where were we in the game when this happened?

00:25:05
Speaker 10: About I don't know, maybe a third the way through the fourth quarter.

00:25:10
Speaker 5: Okay, Now did I hear there was a fight before this?

00:25:14
Speaker 10: Yeah, there was a fight that was about two or three minutes into the first quarter.

00:25:20
Speaker 5: And what what happened?

00:25:23
Speaker 10: So there was a an alucasion that occurred between two kids underneath to go. The officials handled it well, ejected both, you know, both players out of the game, and both you know, the administration took over and sit right behind her with the benches, and the ball game proceeded on.

00:25:45
Speaker 5: So this is clearly this is a rivalry that has some heat to it.

00:25:49
Speaker 4: Right, there had already been one fight, so these this is a chippy group, am I Right?

00:25:55
Speaker 10: Well, I don't know about chippy. It's just it's you know, it's one of those just a championship ball games. Everything is on the line, you know, there's there is no tomorrow in these things, and you don't you don't make it to a championship game. I want to lose that. Everybody's in there wanting to win, and so you know when when winning comes about the competitive spirit.

00:26:13
Speaker 4: Right, that's right now the video starts, it looks like there's a fight between two kids.

00:26:18
Speaker 5: Does one of them tackle another one. Is that what happens?

00:26:22
Speaker 10: Yeah, there's some chimpiness going on, but yeah, thats what's what led up to the fight, was that two kids just gotten an altercation ended up on the floor.

00:26:32
Speaker 4: Now, you tell me what's going through your mind is play back play, guys, you're watching this.

00:26:38
Speaker 6: Man.

00:26:39
Speaker 10: You know, you sitting here and you're watching a ball game, and you know, if you did any play by play, you're following the ball up the court, and so cart Creek's coming up up the floor and this occurs just off off camera to start with, and it comes in camera, and then you know, with the coaches and administrations start with did a really good job. They was out on the floor within just probably three or four seconds to try to break this fight up. And then you know one kid's hurt, and of course at that time, you don't know that anybody's hurt. You've just got two young men out here, and I want to say that both of them is great young men to be around. It's just that competitive spirit leads to what happened on the floor. And then the administration comes out, and then the school resource officers come out, and then the parents come out and that's what led up to it, you know what.

00:27:29
Speaker 4: So what happened with Okay, so who you don't don't give us his full name because we don't need to do that, but who who is Ryan to all this?

00:27:37
Speaker 5: Is this somebody's parent?

00:27:40
Speaker 10: Yeah, he's one of the players parents. And the thing is he's one of the quietest, most humblest guys you'll ever meet in your life. He's a he's a super super good guy. Yeah. I mean, it's he's just he's one of those guys. It's just that you like to be around.

00:27:57
Speaker 8: He just.

00:28:05
Speaker 10: Obviously the events that was unfolding, you know, and it looks appeared like he keeps going around trying to stay involved in that. Whether it's not. Whether it is or not, that's up to the law enforcement. You know. I'm just sitting there still amazed at all this stuff that's going on, because there's stuff going on, because there's stuff going on off camera that that you can't see amongst players and parents. And it's a.

00:28:36
Speaker 5: Are other fights going on off camera?

00:28:39
Speaker 10: Well I won't say fights, but yeah, I mean there's there's you know, mouthing, there's parents going back and forth on this thing, just just like you would expect. You know, you've got a fight on the floor amongst parents or amongst players. You've got a fight amongst parents on the floor, you've got both schools. Who's sitting right right with each other? And so things just get heated in those events. It just keeps continuing getting heated.

00:29:04
Speaker 5: And soho, who did the tasting?

00:29:07
Speaker 10: Who taste the not County Sheriff's office.

00:29:11
Speaker 4: Not County Sheriff's office. When you see the taste, the thing that made this thing go viral? Is you very calmly just said they just taste right? You said it, James, Like this happens all the time.

00:29:27
Speaker 10: Well, so let me give you a little bit of background. I retire with the State Lace for twenty five years. Okay, so when you go that's the background. A lot you know, most people don't know. And so when you go into those situations, you you, I guess in twenty five years, you learned to expect the unexpected, and so that's not that's not to be expected at a ball game. And so when it happens, you know, after when you've done it for twenty five years, you kind of expect to happen what you don't expect to happen, and so when it happened, it's just one of those things.

00:29:59
Speaker 4: You're not easily you're saying, you're not easily rattled, like you you're used to seeing people get tased.

00:30:07
Speaker 10: Well, I won't say getting tased, but yeah, I mean I'm used to seeing people in heeded moments doing things that they don't usually do. And then this is just one of those situations where both the gentlemen that was in this fighter too, I consider them good friends and I would do anything in the world free to one of them, and it just it's one of those events. You know, you got five amongst kids, it's the second one of the game, the competitiveness and of the whole situations going on, and then you know, you get broke up. And I don't know if y'all ever been in a fight or not, but people shirt grabbing hold of you don't necessarily maybe know who's got a hold of you. So you're trying to you've been in a fight, so you're trying to get away from whoever's got a hold of you, and things just led up. The word tae. They yeah, they just they just tasted, right, I.

00:31:06
Speaker 5: Mean, it just happened right, all right, So now let me ask you, James.

00:31:10
Speaker 4: You all of a sudden this happens, and then like the next day, next night it takes off, like all of a sudden, You're on they just taze Ryan. It's all over the internet, It's on news sites. When did you realize that this thing had exploded?

00:31:28
Speaker 8: Oh?

00:31:29
Speaker 10: Man, probably about midday to the evening the following evening, I guess. And then you know this thing it's and then last night I think it was my phone blew up because inside the NBA on espns US and it's on ks R, it's on all this stuff, and it's it's everybody in the world, even people you hadn't talked to in twenty years gone. You're gonna do. You're famous, Like this thing is blowing up, and you know what, I will tell everybody this. You know, it's one of those situations and your broadcasters you've all been there before, or it's happened, you said it, you went on. You know, it's one of those events that you've covered. But you feel so bad because you did cover it.

00:32:14
Speaker 5: Why do you feel bad? Why do you feel bad?

00:32:16
Speaker 10: Man? I feel bad because everybody involved in this thing is such good people and that's what and that's what and that's what makes the situation, you know, even even worse.

00:32:27
Speaker 4: But are you are you able to step back though, and say inside the NBA, Charles Barkley, Shaquille O'Neill, Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, they quoted me, are you able to step back?

00:32:41
Speaker 5: And like think that's kind of cool?

00:32:44
Speaker 10: Oh no, I said that last night, Like even as horrible a situation as he is, never in my life that I ever think I'd be quoted on ESPN or ks R or you know, all these different outlets. I mean, I'm getting messed from people out of Michigan, Washington State, all over the country wanting to a statement. But you want to sit back and be honest with you and say, all right, let me soak this in for a minute, because like I said, you, I mean, it is one of the probably one of the funniest lines that's ever been said.

00:33:16
Speaker 5: But what it meant to be serious?

00:33:23
Speaker 10: Yeah, And so you know, then you've got all these great people that's involved in this, and so it's just one of those situations that I wanted to step back, take my time before I even talked about it and say Okay, you know it has happened. I said it. These people are great people that were Eventually we're gonna they're gonna get through this. But yeah, when everybody, when you're all talking about it, and my phone blew up this morning saying ks IR is trying to get a hold of you. By about I mean literally in five minutes, I had sixty three text messages. Wow, that said k s R Is trying to get a hold of you. They're they're going to be calling you, and so it's, uh, well, let me say, but yeah, this thing is has went correct.

00:34:07
Speaker 5: Let me say this to you.

00:34:07
Speaker 4: I think you actually you seem like a really good man. And let me say one thing. I appreciate you saying all these people are involved. Sometimes it's really quick when something happens, we all just make generalizations about folks and we don't remember that there are actually people. And I'm glad you said that, and I hope you also take a chance to really sit back and enjoy that. Like people people love something you said right because you were being serious. You do care about those and they just tased Ryan is like gonna be alive forever.

00:34:41
Speaker 5: And you did that, James and I hope you. I hope you are able to get some joy from it.

00:34:47
Speaker 10: Well, I appreciate that you're doing. A lot of it is is the fact that it will followed up. Well, this game is now over. There's a lot of which I say, Like I said, I enjoyed. I feel bad for the people to Bob, but I do enjoy it. You know, you hear all kinds of things going through that is, you know, get Justin, Get Justin, Get Justin. And by the time I could have got Justin, it was too late.

00:35:10
Speaker 5: And who's just Who is Justin?

00:35:14
Speaker 10: He's another parent of one of the players that was playing basketball, and he was sitting beside.

00:35:21
Speaker 7: Me the whole ball game.

00:35:21
Speaker 10: Once again, he's just He's a super good dude. I mean, there's been lifelong friends both of them. And I feel bad about the situation. But at the end of the day, Ryan got dazed and the game's over.

00:35:35
Speaker 4: It's exactly right, sir. Thank you very much for coming on, James Brown, and we appreciate it.

00:35:41
Speaker 10: Thank you fellas, y'all have a good evenings, all.

00:35:43
Speaker 5: Right there you go.

00:35:45
Speaker 2: Loved it, loved loved loved that. That's the best of right there, to have him on that was awesome.

00:35:52
Speaker 5: At the end of the day, Shannon Ryan got tased. The game was over. That's all you could say.

00:36:01
Speaker 4: And let me just tell you's dry. We'll take a break and be right back. Skis Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio. I like James Sandlin. There seems like a good fella, doesn't he.

00:36:14
Speaker 2: I love the fact that he's a retired Kentucky Street Trooper, so he's He's like, you know, we've I've been through this before. No big deal for me, And just explain.

00:36:23
Speaker 5: Why he wasn't phased very much. You know.

00:36:25
Speaker 3: It was also an opportunity for Ryan to tell him to kiss his butt, since he wanted to tell police officers that about shoveling his sidewash.

00:36:33
Speaker 2: I imagine from not county, no sir, baby in don't.

00:36:36

00:37:05
Speaker 5: I like it.

00:37:06
Speaker 4: But and they over the years have let me kind of make that show more my thing than they used to. But at the end of the day, you know, Shannon, you still have to talk about like Sam Darnald, you know, and like who cares really Yeah.

00:37:21
Speaker 5: But like you have to, I have to do it, and I have to have strong opinions about Sam Dartled and I don't have strong opinions, but I have to act like I do. But local radio, just think about today. We've talked about.

00:37:32
Speaker 4: Snow ordinances and how Ryan refuses to shovel the snow in front of his house and is asking the police to come and get him. We've talked about weather contest amongst local weathermen. We've had TG shuck on. We've talked about whether or not we should boo a kid from Kentucky, and then we had this happened in Not County and we got the announcer on fifteen minutes later.

00:37:58
Speaker 3: It's been a full show today. It has trailers hear all those things and your thoughts on sim darnol exactly.

00:38:03
Speaker 5: That's my point.

00:38:04
Speaker 4: Like I've always said, this is what people actually would rather hear in my opinion, and Ryan, this is an example of why I like doing local radio.

00:38:17
Speaker 2: That's why I love about this show man. You never know which way it's gonna go. And here we are, we're all stuck in our home with ice and snow, but yet we're enjoying ourselves and having a laugh for a couple of hours. That's what it's all about.

00:38:26
Speaker 5: That is what it's all about. And there's a guy outside that has got a broom or brush and he is brush.

00:38:35
Speaker 3: No, yes, he is a brush brush.

00:38:38
Speaker 5: You've got to it's fashing your car with think about they have them, you can get them with cars.

00:38:44
Speaker 4: I think people sometimes may use them to clean wheels. You know what I'm talking about? Like, Okay, you see what I'm saying. Do you know what I yeah?

00:38:51
Speaker 5: Care you picturing it? It's that That's what I was using, Okay.

00:38:57
Speaker 2: And it works like a.

00:38:58
Speaker 3: Little mini broom or something.

00:38:59
Speaker 5: Right, it's it's it looks like the the I don't know what you call what do you call the things coming out of a broom, the straw.

00:39:10
Speaker 3: Straw, Well, what is it.

00:39:11
Speaker 5: At the bottom of the broom? What's that call that stuff? Which, yeah, I don't know. I don't see. You don't know what it's called either, Whatever that is, it's like that, except it's hand sized.

00:39:24
Speaker 4: You just do it with your hand. That's what I was using to get out of to do it. And then I'm hoping I'm gonna try to move my car this afternoon.

00:39:33
Speaker 5: I don't know. If it's good luck, I'm gonna try.

00:39:36
Speaker 3: You'ren need more than a little brush to get it out.

00:39:39
Speaker 5: I've got my feet.

00:39:41
Speaker 3: Who's up next, Let's go to Steve.

00:39:42
Speaker 5: Steve, go ahead, Steve.

00:39:45
Speaker 9: Hey, guys, I just want to say today's show, along with the weather uh challenge, congrats to t TG shuck but I love all my weather guys. But combining this challenge with was just on about the elementary basketball and keep in mind element we're talking fifth.

00:40:04
Speaker 5: Graders in this.

00:40:05
Speaker 9: So that's what makes this show cutting edge. That's why people listen every day or at least part of the morning, because you don't know what you're going to get.

00:40:14
Speaker 5: Thank you.

00:40:14
Speaker 9: Congrat a genius. As far as marketing, I hope you do the weather challenge again every time. This looks like a major event to the weather guys to kind of get behind him. Is this storm had a lot of moving parts, and Tommying was everything at twenty miles here and there, and so things change in a hurry from a foot of snow to nothing.

00:40:40
Speaker 5: But that was great.

00:40:41
Speaker 9: I do have one basketball thing. Maybe Ryan can answer this, they Hawthorn kid. I think they should if I guess he's got a calf injury. But if he gets that taking care of any time soon, my opinion is burn the darn thing. He's apparently a pretty good offensive basketball player, and offense is what we need. I think, to me, there's no better way to learn basketball than play in a basketball game.

00:41:10
Speaker 5: Totally. I agree with you.

00:41:11
Speaker 4: I have to cut you off, but thank you very much because we got to end the show. But thank you has very kind words and I appreciate it. Hawthorne Pope says, it's hurt Ryan.

00:41:20
Speaker 5: That's crazy. Even our walk, even our red shirts are hurt. Unfortunately.

00:41:24
Speaker 2: Yeah, I think anybody knew that to After the game on Saturday, he said we can't burn a red shirt because he's hurt. Right now, no sense of doing that when he's, you know, not even gonna be able to play at all.

00:41:31
Speaker 4: They did say though he might be available, so they would wait and see. I kind of read that as if they get one more injury, then maybe they would do it.

00:41:38
Speaker 2: But I think that's the strong possibility we'll see him by the end of the year.

00:41:42
Speaker 5: Oh, was that Scooper scuttle butt?

00:41:44
Speaker 3: No, just my opinion again?

00:41:48
Speaker 5: Is that scuttle butt or is it just your opinion.

00:41:50
Speaker 2: By just totally my opinion.

00:41:53
Speaker 5: That's interesting.

00:41:54
Speaker 4: It feels like that was very strong. DraftKings. Go to DraftKings bet five dollars. You can get up to two hundred dollars in bonus bad Let's use my code KSR when you sign up at DraftKings. Duke and Louisville play tonight. Duke's an eight and a half point favorite in Cameron.

00:42:08
Speaker 5: Who you Got? Ryan?

00:42:10
Speaker 2: Duke Duke to cover. Louisvill's still kind of struggling a little bit right now.

00:42:13
Speaker 5: Played all right this weekend? Who you Got?

00:42:15
Speaker 3: I'm with you, Ryan. I think not only Duke wins, they cover the eight and a half.

00:42:19
Speaker 4: Let's say Duke wins, but I'm gonna say Louisville covers the eight enough. I think they they're Brown's back, and I think they'll play well. I think Duke will win, but I think they'll play well. Give me Louisville to cover the.

00:42:32
Speaker 5: Eight and a half.

00:42:33
Speaker 4: Guys, it was fun today. By the way, Drew just he can't get anywhere, so he couldn't get to Ryan's and he couldn't get to the studio, so that's why he's there. I'll probably still be here in Louisville tomorrow, but the game is tomorrow night. Of course, we'll see you later. This has been Kentucky Sports Radio.

00:42:48
Speaker 5: You can't get this.

00:42:51
Speaker 4: Man.

00:42:52
Speaker 5: Let me just tell you he's dry.
