He is the voice of Canada TSN SportsCenter, and we'll get the mood of the country. We'll ask him to sum up how Canada feels after losing the gold medal in hockey to the men's and women's teams. How is Canada today? We're on in Toronto, We're on in a couple places in Canada, So Jay will join us a little bit later on your phone call is always welcome and Seaton will provide a poll question coming up. US men's hockey team was going to come back to the New York area and then disperse from there as the season second half the season starts on Wednesday. Well they can't, couldn't because of the blizzard and they ended up in all places Miami, which let the party continue there. But the men's hockey team coming home. They've been invited to the White Not sure when they're going to be able to squeeze that in if that's something over the summer. But US men's hockey team back home in Miami. Uh Seaton poll question for the first hour the program is going to be one.

00:02:14
Speaker 3: I'm sure we could source a million out of letting a hockey team loose in Miami, the hockey players seem to have the freest pass for just party and don't worry about it.

00:02:26
Speaker 2: Well, if you remember Ovechkin, I think he was like in a fountain for days. Yeah.

00:02:33
Speaker 3: I mean we did like four months worth of coverage of Tom Brady drunk at a celeb at a parade.

00:02:38
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:02:38
Speaker 3: I can assure you him sort of being carried through this one thing is a way more team than what I believe the US hockey team will be doing in Miami.

00:02:47
Speaker 2: Tom couldn't survive an afternoon, let alone a week or a couple of weeks or a month the way some of these hockey players party. And you know, you get the cup for one day, you get to take it to your hometown, you get to do whatever you want to do with it. So the party continues for these hockey players. But in Miami, that'll be I'll be interested to see if they tone it down a little bit just because they start playing hockey again on Wednesday.

00:03:14
Speaker 4: Yes, Todd advertising.

00:03:16
Speaker 5: My age, I guess, and asking this what is considered a wild party for these USA athletes? Like what would you stay up all my dancing drinking clubs? Like as that would have like what would be like something wild that they would be participated would make it a wow. These gots are crazy.

00:03:34
Speaker 2: I don't want to divulge any information that I've been given in previous championship runs, like just Stanley Cup, but there have been some Gabauchery would be the word that might come up strip clubs. I think the Stanley Cup ended up at the bottom of somebody's pool one time. It's been had drinks out of it. They've had other things in that, so there's you know, they're having fun. They're hockey players. They don't get cheated. Yes, Paul, we can watch this in real time. I'm on the Twitter right now and all last night there's posts of the USA Hockey team at a club in Miami and they put the highlights on the jumbo tron that they have basically a TV in the club, and they start playing God Bless the USA, and everyone's holding drinks and living it up.

00:04:21
Speaker 4: Why not, you know, second half the season starts there on Wednesday.

00:04:26
Speaker 3: I don't think hangovers affect hockey players much.

00:04:29
Speaker 2: Gotta admit, yeah, yeah, I think they're kind of you know, they're built for this. It's part of the becoming a professional hockey culture. Yeah, really cultural. Yeah, sort of like when you get your teeth knocked out, you don't go.

00:04:44
Speaker 1: I got my teeth knocked down.

00:04:45
Speaker 4: I got to go see the dentist. It's how bad does it look? Okay?

00:04:48
Speaker 2: All right, put me back out there. I might miss a shift stitches, Yeah, all right, I can do it. How many forty two?

00:04:57
Speaker 4: Wow? That's nice. Okay, go back out there.

00:05:00
Speaker 3: I wonder if there's a hockey version of the like the you know, we always make fun of the guy who, like in basketball, you know, scores a bucket and then he's pointing like defense, you you, you, you, you gotta do this. I wonder if there's a hockey version of that, Like a dude gets smashed like that and he spits his teeth out and gets back up, and.

00:05:16
Speaker 4: He's like, you're on defense, you're over.

00:05:17
Speaker 2: I don't think that they even flinch with that stuff, not at all. I just think it's like, uh, I'm missing some chick lits.

00:05:24
Speaker 4: Anybody see some teeth?

00:05:26
Speaker 5: All right?

00:05:26
Speaker 3: Never mind that dude just popped back up and was like, all right, I gotta keep playing.

00:05:32
Speaker 2: I just remember doing highlights on Sports Center and somebody would just get crushed and you know, they take him off the ice, and I you know, say, you know he returned to second period because he's a hockey player. I think his next shift it was just it's expected. Yes, Dodd, can you slap the ice? What would be the analogy to that in hockey? To make that big play? Like, there's really no time to do that. The game goes too fast. Uts smacking the ice? Yeah, I don't think it's a Steve wo Jahowski Duke moment where I'm going to play defense now. But your sick clapping, slapping the ice, slapping the base, all right, So we'll come up with a pole question. The NFL combine is back and the annual obsessions begin, hand size, arm length. We know the drill here, but it's more than just the measurements, because you know, when you think about it, you do have the prospects who are working out front offices, are negotiating franchise tags, the Cowboys looking at George Pickens, mapping out free agency, laying the groundwork for trades, the draft. So you get thirty two teams represented under one roof in Indianapolis, and the fixation will be the following quarterbacks. Because you don't have a good rookie class coming in. You might have two. You got one Marquee and you might have another one in Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson. But other than that, now you start to talk about, well, what about Kyler Murray, Kirk Cousins to a tongue ia logo Loa, I mean Geno Smith. There's a lot of different quarterback names that are being thrown around, and recent history has probably softened the stigma of the reclamation project because Sam Darnold won a Super Bowl, Baker Mayfield reinvented his career, Joe Flacco turned back the clock. So no longer a punchline. It's actually a necessity for some of these teams. And I think the question is who's going where? And how many teams are going to say, you know what, let's wait, let's be patient here, or do you try to solve your quarterbacking problems Like Atlanta. I keep hearing it. Atlanta is kind of in the mix for a quarterback now. They have Michael Pennix junior. But where's Kirk Cousins going? Does he go back to Minnesota? Are the Vikings all in on JJ McCarthy, what's Aaron Rodgers going to do. I still think Aaron Rodgers in Minnesota makes a lot of sense because I thought that was going to happen in the off season. Now you're reunited with Mike McCarthy. Maybe reunited not the best word to use with their relationship, but it's one year and I thought Aaron Rodgers played well enough. You know, are you going to be competing for a Super Bowl? Not this next year? But you know, don't do anything crazy at the quarterbacking position unless you feel like, okay, we got somebody here. We know that Fernando Mendoza is going number one overall, but then after that, we're not quite sure. You might not have a quarterback taken in the first round after that, and if you do, it might be a team that reaches a little bit. And maybe it's the Steelers who do that, and you know, sit him behind Aaron Rodgers for a year. But just getting everybody together, like, who's taking a chance on Toua? I don't know how much he's going to cost you? Since you know, Dolphins are on the hook for ninety nine million dollars, what's Miami doing here? Is Quinn Yours going to be a band aid quarterback? Are you going to see what he can do? So there's so many different questions here at that position, and I think that's what's going to be interesting. Here's something that and it's not a report. All it is is conversation, and it's Lamar Jackson. Are you going to sign him up for the long haul? Do you want him to be your quarterback? Would you consider trading Lamar Jackson? Now, once again, this is just conversation, and maybe it's because this time of the year there's not much going on, so you start to throw out things, speculate on things. What about you know they could do this? Now there's no reporting on this, but I'm curious. You do have a new coach coming in, you know, offensive coordinator. They made it clear that they want Lamar Jackson to be in Baltimore in the off season helping with this team, so you know he's.

00:09:57
Speaker 4: Going to go to the Hall of Fame.

00:09:58
Speaker 2: The question is is going to be a Baltimore Raven his entire career. But it's nothing more than just conversation of people saying what if that would happen?

00:10:09
Speaker 6: Yeah, Pauling, I just saw an article last night. You're talking about quarterbacks in the demand. Malik Willis was listed as the number one free agent of the entire offseason by NFL Network yesterday. Twenty seven years old. Friendly contract, I mean he Chris sim said the other day he could be in high demand.

00:10:27
Speaker 2: Yeah, but I think he's going to cost you a lot more money, like like three years, a hundred Well, now he's well, he's a free agent. Yeah, so it's not a friendly contract. It's he's going to negotiate. Well, maybe it's a Baker Mayfield Sam Darnold contract, you know, as we usually throw out three years, one hundred million or something.

00:10:44
Speaker 4: But I agree.

00:10:46
Speaker 2: I think that he would be an ideal quarterback in a couple of different places. I think he's he's.

00:10:52
Speaker 4: One of those hey, let's see what you can do.

00:10:54
Speaker 2: Uh yeah, he didn't perform, Okay, we move on, and I think that he he's got a lot of talent. And when he played with the Packers in for Jordan Love, they didn't miss anything. In my opinion, I thought he played really really well. You know, he can do what you want with today's quarterback, but you know, you're there. It's the combine. We kind of poke fun at it, but you know. I will tell you this as one of my sources always tells me. It goes to the combine. He's a scout. You know, it's your chance to get in person with these players. Are you really six three? No, you're six one and a half. You know, hand size it does matter at certain positions, which it should. Now, why is it that we don't measure hand size when it comes to the NBA because everybody handles the basketball. I would have thought that we would have measurables there for players coming in. I'd be very curious. I'd be very curious. How quick you are, not fast, how quick you are? How quick do you jump? Now, we don't get caught up in a combine for the end. I know they get rookies usually in Chicago, they've done that for years. But those are things I'd be curious about. If you've ever been around somebody who can jump or somebody who can quick jump. Oh man, there's a big difference quick jumpers. That's trouble. That's trouble when they're guarding you. But also hand size, I would think, you know, that would be important, and also how quick you are from A to B And it's only you know could be five feet three feet, yeah, Pauline.

00:12:28
Speaker 6: I went back a little bit and looked at NBA dot com and they do have a list going back to two thousand and six, two thousand and seven. It's not exactly their version of a combine, but they do medicals on players and it has hand length, height, standing reach weight wingspan for almost every player including I look back, I found Kawhi Leonard's official hand size with they called it eleven point two five inches. This was twenty eleven. Yeah, I'm sure it's grown since I'm not sure that.

00:12:59
Speaker 2: But you also you get quarterbacks in a room where you can ask them questions. You can pick up on their personality, you can pick up on their football IQ. You can put them in front of a chalkboard and say, diagram this play. You can play something back to them and say what happened or what would you do on that? You know, there's just all kinds of things that you can do that you can glean information where it's not just how fast you run the forty because a lot of you know, these players like Fernando Mendoza, I wouldn't throw at the combine. I would just go and interview I don't think I need to show you anything. I know what happens when the game is on and you're playing. That's the most important thing. But you know there is no second quarterback that you go, well, it's Ryan Leaf, Peyton Manning. It's not that it's Bernanda Mendoza. Go in, be personable. It's in your backyard in Indiana and have some fun with this. Let the other players have the showcase, run the forty whatever you know you're going to do with strength, bench pressing, all of that. But his will be getting in front of these teams now, I don't know if he's going to interview with other teams. I don't know how that works. If you go to the combine, does everybody get to talk to you? Because if I'm Fernando Mendoza and the I'm the Raiders, I'm like, hey, that's our guy. Even though you're on the clock. You can't take him yet. But I would be saying I don't want him sharing anything. Yes, Marvin doing those drills at the combine? Is that more so for the smaller school guys. And if you go to Alabama or Ohio State, you guys have seen me for thirteen weeks for the past two years.

00:14:37
Speaker 4: So you know what I do.

00:14:38
Speaker 7: If you go to Northern Illinois or Central Michigan, that's what's for right.

00:14:42
Speaker 2: The combine is for the player who is not necessarily known. He gets that opportunity, and sometimes you'll get somebody who will reinforce just how good they are. Somebody's going to get out there and go it. I'll run the forty and then you might run it better than you know previously. Or how many reps bench pressing, which I never really understood, like Kevin Durant, I don't even think he could do a bench one hundred and eighty pounds.

00:15:11
Speaker 4: Does that sound about right, Marvin?

00:15:12
Speaker 7: It was people were making a big deal. It's like, you know how much of ball weighs? Yeah, not one hundred and eighty five pounds.

00:15:17
Speaker 4: All I need to know is can you shoot? Can you hit your shot off?

00:15:20
Speaker 5: Yeah?

00:15:20
Speaker 6: Pauli Fernanda Mendoza was reported yesterday will not throw at the combine like you said, but he will throw at Indiana's Pro Day April first, at Mellencamp Pavilion in Bloomington.

00:15:30
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:15:31
Speaker 2: Well, that'll be for his teammates, for them to get an eye, a chance to be under the watchful eye of these NFL scouts. All right, we'll settle on a poll question and the Sports Voice of Canada will join us next hour, and then Reggie Miller in the final hour of the program. 00:16:29
Speaker 2: Oh I have NFL over underwin totals. Oh don't I love those? Never too early for that. There's a few teams ten and a half. Ten and a half wins that seems to be the big number there. Nobody is at eleven and a half. Everybody's at ten and a half. We'll have that for you coming up, all right. The NFL floated out something yesterday and they don't do this accidentally. So Troy Vincent, I don't know what his official title is, but pie's one of the higher ups with the NFL Home Office. Now, what they're talking about doing is the Competition Committee is discussing the possibility of authorizing replay officials to throw flags for specific penalties. So this is something that would be done remotely. Troy Vincent is the executive vice president of Football Operations, and he suggested this. He wasn't ask He suggested this yesterday while talking to reporters during a break in the Competition Committee meeting. So these would be situations that somebody who's not there but is watching this would then inform the officials on the field that they have seen something that needs to be called. Now, this could be something away from the play. It could be somebody took a cheap shot, maybe there's a hold like I don't know how far you go with this, but it's tricky, and Troy Vincent even says, you don't want to open up Pandora's box. But that's what you're doing. If something happens on the field, when do you feel the need to call that If it has nothing to do with the play itself, but it is a penalty of foul, do you call that? How we want to get it right correct, that's the goal, to get it right. I don't think you can kind of go well, we do, but we don't want to slow down the game. If you do this, then you're saying we given that the amount, the billions and billions of dollars that are gambled, we have to get these calls right. Certainly the calls that are right in front of it. Certainly the calls that have to do with the play itself. But if you're going to have somebody, you know, an eye in the sky or whatever it's going to be, how involved do they get? How many opportunities do they get? Put a limit on the number. Once again, if the goal is to get it right, then get it right. If you have the technology to get it right, then get it right. I just don't think you can fall back on the baseball. Well, that's just part of baseball's charm. Missing a play, you know, making the wrong call, It's just part of baseball's charm. Nobody's ever said that about the NFL's It's just the charm of the NFL baseball. We're like, ah, you know, I missed the neighborhood call. Yeah, the strike zone is a little spotty there. Just baseball. Well it shouldn't be, that's just baseball. We shouldn't have allowed umpires to have their own strike zone. Like, how crazy is that? Oh, you know that's his interpretation. You know, he'll give you the high strike. It's either a strike or a ball. It's either outside or it's on the black. I mean, it's just Glabin and Maddox. They're going to get those calls. Why why do we have special roles for special players. Aren't they already good enough? So if you're going to do this, I think you got to. You got to go all in and say we're going to be trying to make the right call. Now you can say, well, it's going to interrupt the flow of the game. Well, football doesn't have a flow. Basketball has a flow. When you think of all the sports, basketball it's like, oh my god, another whistle in a final two minutes. Oh this is forever. That's not necessarily the case with other sports, you know, but with football it's choppy baseball's choppy basketball. You want a little bit more of a flow there. But you don't just suggest this. If you're in the front office of you know, the National Football League, this feels like, Hey, why don't you guys chop this up. Why don't you guys talk about this. You guys discussed. Why don't you do some work for us and then we'll get the feedback from you, because that's what I think happened yesterday.

00:21:02
Speaker 6: Yeah, paulin, let's say the NFL enacted this and may it only replay enforcement for personal fouls that weren't caught by the refs on the field. Right, they just did that. And then there's a play away from the ball where there's a lineman ten yards downfield on a touchdown pass and they can't look at that. Isn't that the danger there is that they could look at one and not the other.

00:21:23
Speaker 2: Well, you got to decide what is open to interpretationous game. Now we don't know who you are because you won't be there on the field. How do the officials on the field feel? Are they just going to be throwing more flags to protect themselves? Instead of having somebody say you guys, miss that, and then you have to get on the microphone and say, upon further review, there was holding or a lineman downfield. Your job is to get the call right. I'm not worried about your ego on the field, but I just don't know how far the NFL would take this.

00:21:54
Speaker 5: Yes, Tom, And there's a certain amount of interpretation when like you know, there's all running back run through a hole on the left side, there was egregious holding more towards the middle of the pack or the right side, or it didn't really interfere with that particular play, but it's so egregious. Can we really wink at that even though it didn't cause the opening for the running backs?

00:22:10
Speaker 2: Yeah, once again, he didn't want to open up a Pandora's box, But that's what this does. It opens up a Pandora's box of what's that role? How many calls does he make? Are there going to be a certain number of calls that he will make? You know, there can be sort of a you know, a silent count of the number of flags that we want you to be able to call, Like over under we you know, how about six of these you know, let's not make this where those on the field aren't doing their job. It's somebody who's watching in you know, a place that's cordoned off from the field and watching all these monitors. But I want you to get it right. If I'm gambling, I want you to get this correct. And the NFL's gone all in on gambling, you have to go all in on protecting the betters as well. And I think that's a treat. You're not going to put that in the language, but that's what this is all about. Yeah, yes, yes, in an effort to protect the integrity of gambling.

00:23:16
Speaker 4: Yes, and an.

00:23:17
Speaker 5: Allotment of calls the problem too. Say they had their five or six and then something happens in the fourth quarter, which is one of the biggest part of the game, and they can't do anything about it because they already did their six.

00:23:27
Speaker 4: Well, nobody's gonna know that. It's not going to be public.

00:23:31
Speaker 5: Oh, they wouldn't be able to keep tracker. Well, like with a coach that you know he can't throw the red challenge flag, a certain er throw a certain number of times.

00:23:38
Speaker 2: We don't even know who that person's going to be. It's not like you go, you know that guy, he calls a lot of flags here. We don't know who that person is. And it's not like you're going to go, Wait, there's been six of them now, there's not going to be another one. I'm just suggesting, if I'm the NFL, I want you to police the game. I don't want you to be the game. I don't want you to be more involved. Be stealth is what I would probably say. Be smart with this. Make sure we get the ones that we have to get. If we miss a illegal chop block on.

00:24:13
Speaker 4: The other side of the field, okay, you know, we'll live with that.

00:24:16
Speaker 2: But you can't have a situation like you had with the Rams and the Saints a couple of years in the playoffs where they missed, you know, helmet to helmet and they miss an obvious past interference and that was in the playoffs.

00:24:28
Speaker 3: Yes, you can just make holding legal for a linemen. That removes that from the you're doing it on every single play regardless. Now it's legal, don't worry. You just can't hold by the collar, but you can hold anywhere else. And then that opens up the space for the more egregious violations like you were just describing.

00:24:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, well, how about we just and Paully mentioned this, give them mittens.

00:24:51
Speaker 3: Yeah, mittens. That solves everything.

00:24:53
Speaker 2: Yeah that Hey, if you want to hold with your mittens, go ahead. I mean there's holding on every play anyway, but now it's got to be above and beyond the call of duty.

00:25:04
Speaker 6: Yeah, Paulie, if you remember Dan three years ago, we played good idea, bad idea to cut down on calls in the NFL. Each rep gets two flags and only gets two for the game, so he has to use them when it's a really big file. When he's out, he's out, he has to leave the field. Bad idea, bad idea, shot down quickly.

00:25:22
Speaker 5: Yes, Tom, if you have a strong opposable thumb with the mint and you'd be surprised. You could probably get a little holding in there. Everybody start working out their thumbs. The offensive lineman squatting.

00:25:30
Speaker 4: At the combine. Where is your muscular thumb. We're going to be.

00:25:34
Speaker 2: Testing out the the back judges.

00:25:37
Speaker 4: Thumbs have like thumb wrestling.

00:25:39
Speaker 2: Yeah, over under win totals in the NFL.

00:25:47
Speaker 4: All right, let me see.

00:25:48
Speaker 2: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven teams at ten and a half.

00:25:56
Speaker 4: So nobody's figer than ten and a half half wins.

00:26:02
Speaker 2: Can you let me see if there's somebody that you might not expect in here?

00:26:08
Speaker 4: Um in the words of Jim bay Hunt, are we are we guessing?

00:26:24
Speaker 2: Yeah, if you want to guess the surprise that might and I don't know if I don't know if it's a surprise. Seahawks Seattle is at ten and a half. Rams and Eagles they are at ten and a half. Buffalo Bills they are at ten and a half.

00:26:43
Speaker 4: The Ravens, the.

00:26:44
Speaker 2: Ravens are ten and a half. That would surprise me a little bit. The Houston Texans, the Houston Texans nine and a half wins, Packers, Packers ten and a half.

00:27:00
Speaker 5: They're the Bears.

00:27:04
Speaker 4: Nine and a half.

00:27:05
Speaker 3: Dang, what a slight? Yeah, you can stay up for that point. Watch them not make the playoffs this next year. How did the Detroit Lions? Lions, Lions are ten and a half.

00:27:16
Speaker 4: That's a little high.

00:27:17
Speaker 2: Yeah, that would surprise me a little bit. Let's see, Uh, you're missing one Broncos Marvin forty nine. Ers at ten and a half.

00:27:29
Speaker 3: It's aggressive.

00:27:30
Speaker 5: Uh, well, we have Denver under five hundred. What's happening here?

00:27:35
Speaker 2: They're probably at nine and a half. Will you stop it whining already? Why didn't Why didn't you guess them?

00:27:42
Speaker 5: I should have The Broncos should have have more, at least one more win than the Lions.

00:27:51
Speaker 2: Let me see, let me find Broncos are nine and a half.

00:27:55
Speaker 4: Yeah, you're crying already.

00:27:58
Speaker 5: Bow Nick is gonna be playing nuts? Did him?

00:27:59
Speaker 2: So?

00:28:00
Speaker 4: Give them ten and a half for the ankles? Okay?

00:28:02
Speaker 3: Yeah, you know these might actually be the more interesting lists are the the like the eight and a half and the nine and a Half's to see where they are because there's probably some good teams in there.

00:28:11
Speaker 4: Let me see, Cleveland Browns are six and a half. In case you're curious, wins. Yes, I got the Cardinals at four and a half.

00:28:23
Speaker 3: How about the Cincinnati Bengals.

00:28:25
Speaker 2: The Bengals they probably eight and a half. Bengals nine and nine and a half, nine and a half. That's a lot aggressive Dolphins four and a half, Jets five and a half, Raiders.

00:28:44
Speaker 4: Five and a half.

00:28:47
Speaker 3: Trying to think of new coaches, how about your New York Giants.

00:28:50
Speaker 2: My New York Giants with a coaching move Jean Harbal seven and a half wins.

00:28:57
Speaker 7: Yes, Marvin, what about a team that had a mulligan last year?

00:28:59
Speaker 4: The Commanders seven and a half?

00:29:04
Speaker 3: Have you mentioned the Jacksonville Jaguars?

00:29:06
Speaker 2: Jaguars I have not there at nine and a half and a half. Uh, you guys didn't learn anything working at ESPN. The first team you should have asked about is the Dallas.

00:29:19
Speaker 3: They were placed somewhere in here to get engagement. I'm going to guess they're like a seven and a half eight and a half situation.

00:29:24
Speaker 4: They are an eight and a half.

00:29:26
Speaker 3: Let's see, that's you wanted that, we wanted reaction off of that I did. That's why they were put there eight and a half.

00:29:31
Speaker 2: Or uh, here's Oh, here's the one you didn't mention.

00:29:36
Speaker 4: I don't think you did. Kan City Chiefs at ten and a half? That is aggressive?

00:29:41
Speaker 5: Come on, can we get over the Chiefs?

00:29:44
Speaker 4: A wow? Toid?

00:29:48
Speaker 5: Can we get over that eight?

00:29:50
Speaker 4: Eight and one? Patriots have to have at least one more win than them? I mean, obviously think of superior rigor than win the super.

00:29:56
Speaker 2: X at least one more than them Patriots nine and a half.

00:30:01
Speaker 5: Yes, I want to know the team interceptions for the Jets. Where's that number after zero this past year.

00:30:08
Speaker 4: This is just a I know, I'm just throwing it out into the room.

00:30:11
Speaker 5: How many team interceptions with the Jets? Guys have to having zero for the entire year?

00:30:15
Speaker 4: Four?

00:30:15
Speaker 5: Okay, all right, cluster minus?

00:30:16
Speaker 4: Well, man, get all upset your Broncos. Yeah, smart team that started out hot last year.

00:30:23
Speaker 5: But cool Dolph. The Colts. Where do we have them?

00:30:26
Speaker 4: Colts? Eight and a half?

00:30:29
Speaker 2: There are a lot of teams eight and a half, nine and a half, ten and a half. This is what the NFL loves loves. But it looks like the Cardinals are going to be the worst team in the NFL. But I have plenty of company with the Jets and the Raiders, the Dolphins at four and a half wins as well. How about the Carolina Panthers made the playoffs six and a half wins?

00:30:55
Speaker 4: Not exactly building on that.

00:30:58
Speaker 2: Let's see anybody else that might stand out? Oh, one other team ten and a half, Leans Chargers. Chargers, Okay, you're curious about the they always have a winning record.

00:31:15
Speaker 4: Pittsburgh Steelers eight and a half, obviously break eight losing record. Question.

00:31:29
Speaker 3: The Arizona Cardinals and the Miami Dolphins.

00:31:34
Speaker 4: Okay, who would you who would you rather root for?

00:31:37
Speaker 2: You gotta pick Arizona or the or the Miami Dolphins because you're not gonna have Kyler Murray. I mean, you got a really good tight end. But I've been I've been told that before. Yes, Ud, strictly.

00:31:55
Speaker 5: Because I think I look good in turquoise, I'll pull for the Dolphins over the Cardinals. They're an AFC team, so you think I would.

00:32:01
Speaker 4: Ri the NFC. Nobody breaks down teams like we do.

00:32:04
Speaker 5: Turquoise tight Yeah.

00:32:06
Speaker 2: Dolphins, Uh yeah, man, what a mess. I felt like Miami was on the cusp, you know, that offense. They were a playoff team and then they went to Kansas City and then that's it.

00:32:20
Speaker 4: The dream died after that.

00:32:21
Speaker 7: Yes, Martin enough people were not putting him in the same category as the Browns and the Jets. The Dolphins need to be where they are as far as the dysfunctional, losing franchise. They need to be with those guys.

00:32:33
Speaker 4: Well Cleveland Brown's what are they six and a half wins?

00:32:36
Speaker 7: I just mean historically year in a year ago, don't expect much out of them.

00:32:41
Speaker 4: They need Chad Pennington back, you know as he is now.

00:32:44
Speaker 6: Yes, all right, third time comeback Player of the Year.

00:32:48
Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, he won it twice coming back. Oh, speaking of coming back, I thought it was a joke. It's not a joke. I wish it as a joke. We'll have that next.

If I would have told you three years ago, Hey, Piston Spurs showdown. It could be a preview of the NBA Finals, and you'd say, hmmm, I don't think so.

00:34:14
Speaker 4: And here we are.

00:34:16
Speaker 2: Piston's won fourteen games a couple of years ago. Now I think they have fourteen losses total on the season. Give credit to the Spurs. They don't want to say that they're a year ahead of schedule. It certainly feels that way. Stefan Castle played some really good defense on Cad Cunningham last night. Wembenyama twenty one seventeen and six blocks, as the Spurs have won nine in a row. I mentioned that I thought it was a joke when I saw it. I still think it's a joke, but it's actually real. And that is Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather in September at the Spear Sphere in Las Vegas. Last time they thought, I believe was of twenty fifteen. I don't know who was asking for this and I you go back to that eleven years ago we found out after the fact that Pacquiao had an injured shoulder, and I would say that.

00:35:19
Speaker 4: It got too far now I remember talking. I can't even say who I was talking to wow, gotta be now. It got.

00:35:33
Speaker 2: It felt like that somebody wanted to call this fight off and they were told, you can't.

00:35:38
Speaker 4: It was too deep, you know, too deep in the game.

00:35:41
Speaker 2: And there was a lot of money, a lot of money at stick and obviously they you know, Pacquiao got in there, but he wasn't throwing any punches. And Floyd Mayweather is a boring fighter. I mean, you know, the presentation is flashy, but he's a defense first fighter. There's nothing too When you watch him, you go, oh, okay, didn't get hit again, and he didn't get hit again. You know, Tactically, he's brilliant but not exciting. So hey, if you sign up for it, go get him. Must be it'll be September, so maybe it's a slow night for you, and you go, well, maybe I'll just buy this fight. Let me let me see these two guys lean on each other. But I don't know if this has to do. You know, boxers never retire. Sugar Ray Leonard told me this when I went to his first retirement in Baltimore, and he talked about fighters never retire. The phone stops ringing, and that's it. Like you could get some of these guys to come out of retirement and be like, you know, hey, Tommy Hearns, marvelous, Marvin Hank, come on, Roy Jones, come on, who wants to fight? Yeah, I'll do it. Mike Tyson, you'll fight again. Let Tyson fight the winner of this. But you know, maybe you know, financial issues could be affecting one or both of these fighters, and that's why you're doing I don't I don't know why you watch this unless the undercart is really good. Maybe the novelty of being in that building having a boxing match in the sphere, but it's real, it's real. Does Connor McGregor get the winner of this fight? I mean, now, if Connor McGregor got to do MMA against Floyd, now, that would be fun. That would have been interesting. But it was like, and then I do one of the brothers would what are their names? The Paul brothers? Do they get to fight some?

00:37:49
Speaker 4: I mean, is this where boxing is?

00:37:52
Speaker 7: Yes?

00:37:53
Speaker 4: How did we get here?

00:37:55
Speaker 6: I guess UFC, Yeah, PAULI Mayweather pack you out to the fifteen. They estimate that it was the biggest single fight revenue ever, four hundred and ten million in revenue, seventy two million in ticket sales at the gate on the property.

00:38:11
Speaker 2: Yeah, and I always thought that Floyd was a brilliant businessman. But when you start to read articles of you know, he's got things in foreclosure and I can't imagine that you would lose one hundred Well, but they Mike Tyson did. But then you know we had people stealing right in front of him. You know, that was the difference here. But with Floyd. I thought Floyd was like a Darrell Reebis kind of businessman. So that's if he's coming back because he needs money.

00:38:43
Speaker 4: That is sad. Yes, Dodd how much money?

00:38:47
Speaker 5: And I don't understand the financial part of like how big millions of dollars to have these fights that supposedly are kind of ridiculous and it's like an exhibition nobody wants to see. How much of that money is based on who goes to the fight, and as far as people that are buying like pay perview, Like what if so many people decided I'm not going to the fight, I'm not going to watch it on pay per view, They're still going to get millions of dollars. There's still enough money out there to pay these guys.

00:39:12
Speaker 2: PAULI just gave you the numbers. It's it's a rep share. I mean they share. I don't know how they divvy it up. I'm sure Floyd got more money than pak Yell, but you know, you might get forty percent of the gate, Pakiel gets you know, twenty five percent of the gate.

00:39:27
Speaker 4: But it's four hundred million dollars.

00:39:30
Speaker 5: So I guess how did they come up with that number? Not knowing just yet who's buying the tickets and who's doing the pay per view. And maybe I'm being ignorant, but I don't know how they can.

00:39:38
Speaker 4: Guarantee Now this is the last fight.

00:39:42
Speaker 5: Right, But I'm saying for this fight coming up. If you were saying that may Rather has all these financial problems, what if people didn't go to the fighter? Didn't you know as far as pay per view, where's or where are all these millions of dollars coming from to pay these guys? If people decide not to buy the fight or go watch it.

00:39:56
Speaker 2: Well you only get paid based off who shows up or who watches.

00:40:01
Speaker 5: But they're expecting to get several millions of dollars to do this. The fighters know?

00:40:06
Speaker 4: Why is this complicated?

00:40:08
Speaker 5: It's a little complicated to me.

00:40:10
Speaker 2: Demand you either show up or you don't, and if you don't show up, then they don't get as many millions as they would have if you did show up.

00:40:18
Speaker 5: Okay, which could end up being nowhere near the amount of money that Mayweather needs to get out of his financial.

00:40:22
Speaker 2: I don't even know what his financial situation is. I'm saying there are articles talking about that, but it's if you show up, then you get paid. If you buy pay per view, then you get paid. If you don't buy pay per view, then you get less of the gate. Oh, it is his supply and demand, and if there's not a demand, then maybe these guys get twenty million, twenty five million, fifteen million. But the first one made four hundred million.

00:40:53
Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm reading about Floyd and his next fight might be against the irs. He's had three things in his past settled.

00:41:00
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:41:01
Speaker 2: Yeah, he had all those cars. Wow, that's in September. You've been warned. The Voice of Canada, the Sports Voice of Canada joins us to let us know how our neighbors up north are doing.

00:41:22
Speaker 4: That's next
