Mmm. Hello, it is April twelve, twenty sixteen. You are listening
to the Giant Bomb cast. Dan record is back. Hey, I am
Jason's doing finger air drumming and we do things over there, presumably in celebration
of day to return. Yeah, get a little little She's texted me the
whole time I was in Dallas. Yeah, but you missed me. I
couldn't go on without you. Yeah. Yeah, we need him happening to
do his job. So you're back. Oh okay, so the things can
continue. Hello Jeff, Hello, what's going on? I do you taxes?
If you haven't done? I know, just talking to my financial guy
about what are you doing tonight? Do your taxes? He said, what
you haven't done it yet? No? Oh my god, I've got the
envelope sitting on my desk and opened. Yeah, that's actually our plans tonight.
Oh yeah, it's actually my wife's plans tonight. My plan is to
watch baby and try and catch you fighter. But who do you think is
Jeff? If you want to come over, maybe she could do your taxes
too. Who do you think might have done? I got my done.
Yeah, it's the first time in years that I've been able to do them
ahead of the actual do date. Wow, on account of some accounting complexities
in the previous years that are not worth actually getting into. But boy,
taxes, I would say, Brad, you am I right. You got
caught up in some of that in the US past, Well I did so
this year the first just returned to splendor. Working working for startups is weird.
Yeah. Yeah, selling a company stuff follow you around, even if
you don't, even if none of that actually turns into money in your pocket,
at some point turns into a fucking nightmare. Anyway, I was expecting
to get a nice return and I wound up having to pay six thousand dollars.
Wow, at once, somebody. That's a terrible feeling. Somebody's fucked
up your withholding. I think no, So I think I did it right.
I just well, you've got you've got weird side revenue stream, that's
what did it. Yeah, at some point you got to pay the pipe.
I thought that Amazon took that out or something, but apparently they took
zero of it out, and so I had to be here's six thousand dollars.
Yeah, the cost of a green lime sign versus six thousand dollars.
I don't know, Dan, I don't know if that was a smart move.
What your self promotion? You're the air force that'd me winning a wallauigi
ambo. Oh okay, yeah, I believe that's an important one. Oh
okay, yeah, yeah, I got the Doctor track Suit sign was my
favorite prob. Yeah that was that now, Yeah that that that sign somehow
made it back from from Texas. I met those guys and bought them beers
and they gave me the signs. So it's a fantastic sign. It's really
well, mate, we will we will show it to Doctor track Suit at
some point if yeah, if he ever resurfaces. Yeah, Jason, who
was getting the better end of the deal between between watching the bay Maybe I'm
doing taxes. I think I'm getting the better. Yeah, he's super cute.
That's a lot of fun. Like he's yeah, he's got new voices.
So he did that shrieking thing for a long time, but now he's
moved just to like more of a guttural I'm gonna murder you scream cool,
and it's just constant. But he's got a smile on his face the entire
time. So so what's the emotion that he's conveying just pure joy. Oh,
we got him a bouncer and he is just constantly in motion with that
thing. So he's either he's just like a hardcore band front man. I
think he picked it up from like Cookie Monster or something like that. Yeah,
most of them the most famous of darkcore bands. Yeah, I love
Quick Monsters. But yeah, he'sh two voices voice of voice of an angel.
Is it good shrinking or is it like I'm I'm upset? Baby,
I'm happy, okay, happy shrinking? That sounds fun, sounds like he's
having a good time. He is, he totally is I am too?
Oh I had a bouncer. Yeah, yeah, I probably make noises like
that. There's three like bungee cords and stuff. There's fucking activities all around
you. Three sixty degree motion in this seat. You can just turn around
and have a brand new fucking activity. But you can spin. You want
to fucking play with a chameleon? Yes, it's over here to your right.
You want to twirl the sun around? Let's tell ninety degrees to the
right that have one of those abicus things on it. Uh No, this
this sounds like any number of VR experience is not available. I would take
this far far quicker than of r VR baby bouncer. I want it.
Yeah, you know what, fuck that, let's go all the way.
I want VR womb simulator. Oh, now you're telling Berthed, I didn't
know you wanted to get into VR this early in the podcast. All right,
let's being birthed is the tragic, But that's gotta be part of it.
Tragic end, tragic conclusion of a thing. That's the end. You
want to return and stay there, unhappy ending, bad end, real time
nine months simulation. Yeah, it's not enough time. Ten months at least,
Go deep. That's the tagline, right now, Go deep. That's
the different our experience right there. This's got really uncomfortable. Just let's move
on. Except I spent some time watching VR porn this weekend. Really really
well, how did that come to be? I went to this podcast thinking,
all right, we're not gonna for the first time like a month,
we're not going to talk about VR. But I feel okay about where this
VR discussion is going. Yeah. So it was something that was happening in
Slack on like Friday. You guys were talking about something about r VR porn
and should we do something with it. Is there something to do with that?
We feel like were just like, you know, just should be someone
someone balling. I received an interview solicitation, Yeah yeah, for a major
proprietor of of pornograph adult entertainment of VR and otherwise asking if we wanted to
speak with the CIO of this company thinking around given demos or something like that.
Yeah, so I don't know what that that That seems weird that a
little Yeah, I don't. I don't know that you need to talk to
like the guy from the website because it's just they're just videos. There's just
three sixty videos. Like you could either have Paul McCartney and you get to
stand next to his piano or you get to see some real crazy three D
business at the end of these scenes. Why not wait, three D business
like they're polygonal people. No, no, no, no, no,
it's just it's three D video, Okay, three D A like one eighty
Is it like point of view kind of stuff or there are actually like there
are both. So it's one of those things where like the videos have to
be offered in multiple formats to accommodate things like oh well, for the gear
VR we've produced this lower quality thing. And if you want to hire res
video then for the Oculus, it's this is for Vibe, it's you know,
for for that, and yeah, so it's it's there are some three
sixty ones, there are some one eighty ones. Yeah, it's kind of
just depends on what you're looking for. So I did not sign up for
any site. So it's kind of like looked at some preview videos that they
had posted to get a sense for like what this even is, and and
kind of see it for myself. Uh, and it is exactly what you
think it is. I mean, it's it's instead of like the head it's
you are there with the camera instead of a headless driver in Project cars,
it's a headless nudeman. So it's like a point of view video. It's
it is exactly that. It is exactly that, okay, And just but
you can look around and it's in three D. If with all the wonderment
and weirdness that that brings. It's very juttery, okay, which is when
you like when you move your head around or no, no, just playback
is not playback's not smooth, and my experience was not super smooth and these
are examples from a few different sites and it was streaming right No, no,
no, these were download downloadable sample still yeah, yeah, yeah,
like just the frame rate just wasn't there or something. I don't know,
but it's not up to the you know, usual quality of No, no,
not really, it's you know, and and not up to the quality
of other VR experiences and all this other stuff. But I don't know.
It's one of those things where it's like you look at it and it's you
know, these are all traditional porn sites that are for the most part,
there's there's one that that is kind of specializing in this sort of stuff.
But it's been weird, you know. It's it's weird because they all you
know, have the typical kind of porn site monthly process of like, hey
give us twenty five bucks a month and you'll get access to eighty sites that
we all own and they're all the same stuff anyway, And so like the
VR stuff though, it's been happening since the release of the Gear VR,
so we're you know, like a year in and change or whatever it is.
There's not a ton there are not there's not an abundance of available content,
right now do the tube sites have sections like if you go to like
porn hub or something to do like a VR tab. Yeah, and yeah,
but in those in those cases, that would be you full screening a
streaming video and then putting on the heavy video putting on Yeah, well,
I mean it's a side by side three D. Oh it's still three D.
Yeah, it's still three D, but it doesn't it's a streaming resolution.
But you can still move. Even the three sixty videos are still just
videos. It's how it's displayed in the headset, whether it's sphere or don't.
So it turns out this is the actual use for that virtual desktop soft
where I mean you could use it just top in the sky, but it
all it is also a very effective three D video player for that stuff.
And yeah, so like like watching that stuff at a streaming resolution and frame
rate, it's fascinating because it's like, like, for as much as like
VR has this like dream like non real quality to it, seeing actual humans
moving in a sex like manner, sex like at a at a like with
this weird kind of jittery kind of movement and stuff, it's just it makes
the whole thing feel like a like a television show that is doing a sci
fi storyline about like the injected porn into their memories to get off, and
like these are the flashes they show when they're showing the guy as he's dying
or something like. It's that kind of like dream like a theory like not
ethereal. It's it's weird, like it's fucked up looking. It looks fucked
up in a way that is like kind of fascinating, but like really weird.
I did. It's one of the things where I imagine, like I
wonder if maybe like these are just older videos that are being produced that that
you know, they haven't really spent into the high frame rate, the you
know whatever they need to like alleviate those problems. These could just be like
left over three D videos at the shot from from like the original three D
Craze. No, well, I mean I suppose that's possible, and I
don't. I don't think that's the I think it's stuff they shot for VR,
but it's maybe they're just not spending on the cameras at the up to
the rate that they could be. Because the stuff that like Jaunts, the
Jaunt video app that's in the Oculus store and it's on Vibe as well.
Like the quality of those, you know, it was a streaming video,
so like the the image resolution was weird, but the movement all seemed fine,
whereas all of these scenes that I downloaded from their preview section and stuff
like that, like they all just seemed a little off. So it bits
surreal. I mean, obviously it's not gonna, you know, give you
a real life experience. Also, the sense of scale was way off in
some of them where it was just like no, well where it was just
like everything is huge. Is this woman nine feet tall? What is happening?
Like that's my kink? It's like yeah, no, totally right,
yeah, and then some of it looked like super tiny. It was just
like what what's going on? Like just the sense of scale is very like
seems to vary a lot from video to videos. So you know, I
me and and that's you know, they're handful sights and these are just the
I didn't I didn't go pay them the twenty five bucks a month or whatever
to download the nine scenes they have or whatever it is, or you know
forty in some cases, like they but they didn't have a ton of it.
Well, I mean, it's a hot and budding technology totally in a
little while to get there. But man, I mean, you know,
and every single one of them is like like pushing v R hardware hard in
terms of just like sign for this stuff. We will send you this device
that you put your phone into, and so they're they're all selling Google cardboard
style or they're all like hey, sign up and we'll send you one for
free. Sign up and we'll give you one for twenty bucks, or just
one of the cheap things that you can like yeah, just amount your amount
any phone in and you can watch the videos. Like that's that's the primary
means for this stuff. And then some of them have like Oculus stuff,
but a lot of that, you know, their instructions are written for like
DK two and stuff like that, so they have not necessarily gotten up to
supeed with like you know, consumer Oculus and Vibe and stuff like that.
That's interesting, yeah, because important such a huge industry. Like I really
think that it helped push like the DVD market and totally yeah. I mean
you even hear about like you know, the vhs totally yeah, Like they
are basically I think the deciding factor like yeah, if history is taught as
anything. It's the adult industry will figure out what to do with this stuff
one way or the other. Yeah, right now we're early days. Uh
yeah, I don't know. It's weird putting, the putting, the like
the hop horn angle aside, the like Okay, take the best three sixty
video that you watched, Yeah, does that seem cool? It's like it's
novel. Is there is there like a good use for a video that you
can turn your head around and look around it. It's very novel. But
I wouldn't say it was something where I felt like, oh man, this
is the only way I want, Like even the idea of like you know
they have the video projectors that will project a video onto a fake movie screen
and uh and that sort of stuff. It's I don't know, Like,
you know, I kind of I said something on Twitter or something a while
back saying like I don't understand why anyone would ever want to do that because
I had done it and came away from the experience going absolutely not, And
then a lot of people who had not done it were like, no way,
man, I'll totally do it. It's like because because I have a
shitty TV and it's like no, try Like, look, if you have
a TV that's capable of running modern console games, the image quality is going
to be sharper there than it is in any headset. So the idea of
like, you know, you you would have to be really hard up to
play a video game immediately to want to play it in like projected onto a
two D screen inside of VR, because I think the resolution, and more
importantly, like the way the image gets blurry at the outer edges of your
vision just makes that unpleasant. Like that's not a good way to do any
of this stuff, I think. And again I think it's very novel.
I think it's really fascinating. And if you could have like multiple users in
a single space watching a movie together and interacting and you know, doing whatever,
I think that would be potentially interesting. And three D video into like
three sixty video and stuff like that, like you know, whatever, there's
there will probably be some cool uses of that. I mean, whatever,
there are cool uses of that, like the stuff that's in Jaunt, the
stuff the I mean, even the porn. To a certain extent, You're
like, this is fascinating. And there was one three sixty scene where they
had like multiple performers in it, and one of them is doing stuff to
the character that your head is attached to. And then there are two people
off of the side, and then you turn around and there's just a lady
back there, just just doing whatever by yourself, like a little egg you
never known around it's going on back there, there's a yeah, there's there's
a bunch of weird stuff like that. And and I don't know, like
everyone is kind of going to explore that space and hit on like what the
things are that make that stuff work? But it's it's it's very novel,
but like no thanks. Like the video in VR, I just think kind
of overall seems like something you do a couple of times and go like all
right, it's about what you do with that video, I think more importantly
than like or peripherals. I guess like oh sure, sure, yeah,
maybe someone could make use of the vibe controllers. It's teldonics. It's gonna
be it's already huge, it's gonna be huger. That's where I can actually
get up and like go hide in the closet. Yeah, there's something,
yeah, I mean, and and I don't know if I don't know what
technology would even be required to let you walk around a video That actually sounds
impossible, But I don't know. But that's the thing is, like you
know, because I mean the Star Trek Technical Manual did its fair point tenty
years ago. Yeah. Yeah, so the video stuff is really it's it's
really novel. But you know, you see all these people going like,
oh, we're doing basketball games and VR. Yeah, like live live events
sounds still sounds like the thing to me that that would be useful for.
But also like think about television broadcasts and how good they are in terms of
like it would be a different style of watching the thing though, yes,
it would be for people who want to feel like they're there or like see
it from that perspective. Yeah, but you know it's you don't how much
time do you need to like turn around and go, wow, there's a
crowd of people behind me. That's all who everyone was because that that's the
whole thing is like, well I'm in three sixty three D I'm gonna look
around do this twelve Yeah, but and you know, like the crowd's going
to be playing too that camera like whoever's sitting around there like they wants them
I think to be sitting in there like the crowd, like being there and
experience it. Yeah, I have to assume they wouldn't trine that thing so
that people couldn't fuck with it, but not fuck with it, but just
like I don't know, maybe they look at it. Yeah, sure,
yeah, maybe they maybe they sit a bunch of people around it to be
characters. They had that thing in the store where you could like be on
the ramp for Jimmy and Jay Usso's entrance or whatever. Finally, and I
did that, and it's like, man, this isn't now I would watch
raw, I don't think no, or even like I wouldn't even like flip
to it for the entrance or whatever. Right, it didn't seem great.
Yeah, I don't know. I mean, you know, obviously, like
the technology will get better, like at some point those screens do get sharp
enough to where that's like valuable and interesting. But I think where it is
right now, it just doesn't make a lot of sense. Yeah, and
you know whatever, I mean, you know, the porn stuff. People
have needs, and if their needs happen to include three D first person action,
it's there for them. I don't know, it's seemed kind of lame,
but it's early days. It's early days. Firsthand report now we know,
well, we'll keep an eye on it. It seemed cool in Time
Cop. Yeah porn. Yeah, I thought it was really good in like
Star Wars Christmas Special they had VR porn in that. Yeah, totally.
Okay. What I remember that in Time Cop because I watched it when I
was like ten, and then it went to a VR porn thing and then
I had to turn it off because as afraid my mom was gonna walk in.
Grandpa Wookie just like sat down on his lazy boy, scrapped down the
VR helmet and there was like a dancing lady and okay, actually real,
I've never actually sat down and watched that thing. It's really bad. Ye
seen enough clips for him and to know like all right, yeah I get
it. Yeah, there was people like this, ironically, that's cool dancing
ladies. Yeah, exciting. All right, Well, we kept our VR
talk to a minium this week. We could keep going. No, not
good, Okay, I think we're good. Let's talk about the regular video
games. Know of a couple yeah that are going on right now, such
as who has brought something for the class street fighting. Real Quick played in
the teament No Real Quick sorry. Played in a community tournament this past weekend.
That was super awesome. Yeah, playing with the members of the our
community. Yeah, okay, yeah exactly, which was tough because you know,
that's the time that I watched the baby and so he was like in
happy shriek hype mode, like while I was trying to play, Baby's just
getting hype. But yeah, stuffing wrong with that. Yeah, But and
then he like zonked out immediately after I was done. But I did all
right, lost my first one. They got through the next three or so,
and then lost the second one. Yeah. There's If there's anything I
could tell you from the community StarCraft tournaments that used to happen, it's that
the community is way more savage than you ever expect. Yeah. Yeah,
there was some you get in there, but yeah, it just some of
it. Like it was a worldwide thing, so you're playing against people in
the UK, and unfortunately, you know, with the GGPO stuff, it's
hit or miss, like you know sometimes like my connection seemed great with this
one guy, Hassan actually, and he had just a terrible laggy fucking experience,
like I was, you know, just jumping around the screen and uh
so that sucked for him. You thought you were bodying him. Yeah,
I'm like, fuck, yeah, I got this guy's number. Man.
But as it turns out, yeah, I was just a yeah shake lagging
on somebody's part. Yeah, that's the that's the job, actually the GGPO
stuff. But no, that was that was That was a good time school.
Yeah. I like playing in the tournament format and against you know,
real dudes and stuff. I'm sure I'm sure that the lobbies helped facilitate.
Yeah. Yeah, lobbies were fine. I had no disconnection issues. So
yeah, everything was great. It went by in like an hour, you
know, it was over really quick. Yeah, they were, they were
on the game. Excellent. Cool. Cool, all right, Dan,
you haven't been here in two weeks. Yeah, it's good to play video
games again. We can talk about them. Yeah, I'm wrestled out.
I'm ready to get back to video good Yeah hit mee uh okay, well,
you know, keeping with the hottest new games, I've been playing a
lot of Soul Caliber one, Soul Caliber two, and I just bought soul
Caliber five again to lease. Okay, no I want to hear Yeah,
No, let's talk about wrestling instead. Okay, definitely more interesting than anything
soul Caliber has done. Pas soul Caliber one, Why are you were all
good? Why are you playing so much soul Caliber? Oh? My girlfriend
and I realized we both played the first one a ton and two a ton,
so it's backwards compatible. One and two are yeah, And so I
bought that HD online one that was on through sixty that's now backwards compatible and
it has hey hotchi and spawn no link. Yes, I can't play online,
it seems, but we just do survival and team battle and stuff.
So I've been playing a ton of that, and she hadn't played five,
So I just bought it on eBay. And I remember that one being pretty
good. Five is the most recent one, right, well, if you
don't count that like free to play thing that nobody? God, that's right,
that did happen? Didn't it come out on p S three? I
think that one's gone now too. They've since shut it down. I remember
looking at the tech and free to play thing, right, but man,
I have no recollection of their being Yeah namco, man, they got out
there and tried some ship. Yeah was that console only? That was PfP
three only? And I guess. I never played it, but I read
that it had in like terrible load times was getting you know, all four
reviews across the board. I'll have to you know, free to play stuff
that didn't seem great. So course remember a lot of it being kind of
a mess. Yeah, yeah, but that was a while ago. Yeah,
it makes me one day, so Caliber six pretty bad before to playing
five agame because I remember liking that one. But yeah, that's a great
series. Outside of that, new games I played star Fox zero can't give
full impressions of it yet, can you say? I can say my thoughts
about that from what I played at E three, and my concerns based on
all the marketing and everything are founded. And it makes me wonder how good
Star Fox ever was. Wow, Because I'll say it. You can tell
even just looking at you know, the videos and stuff that are out now.
It is the most like Star Fox sixty four out of any star Fox
since sixty four, which is what I thought. I wanted. Let's run
that, Okay, Let's run. There was Adventure ye, and then Adventures
which was the Zelda like one that had any r wings basically a third person
at Adventure Yes. And then there was Assault on the GameCube, which they
were like, Okay, it's gonna go back to like the R wing stuff
that you wanted, but then had a ton of like kind of open map
tank slash on foot stuff and so there's only like a handful of R wing
missions and whatever one wants is the R wing linear missions that occasionally you know,
it's an all range mode and you know boss fights or star wolf fights
or whatever. And yeah, that game kee won. The second one screwed
it up by just having way too much on foot stuff that sucked. And
then there was Star Fox Command. Command was on, which that one felt
kind of sold this and it was a lot of just like you know,
plotting out your teammates and strategy stuff like on the touchpad, and it was
our wing focus. But if I remember right, it was all kind of
like arena stuff like flying around. It did not it didn't really have a
campaign, if I remember, not much of a story, not much of
one at all. And then I think there's there's yeah, yeah, Command
was the one DS one, I guess, and then they did Star Fox
sixty four three, which that's just the remake. Uh, but yeah,
this one kind of a checkered history for star Fox. I mean, yeah,
since this is the un sixty four yeah, and it's it's there's one
good star Fox game and it was the first star The star Fox six four
is the best one. Oh my god. I like sixty four a lot
when it came Great. It's the train one with the tank that I remember
being so bummed out by that game showing up. That is like a Mario
Kart level of like office going, wait, what the fuck is this?
What was what was it? Okay, all right, I'll buy what was
wrong with it? I don't remember Star Fox. I was in school when
that game came out, so it was you could finish it in like two
hours, and it was like one of those things where it's like a bunch
of branching path stuff, but none of that felt worth doing. It was
just like, well, just present me the game instead of just like,
oh, well, welcome to star Fox zero. Yeah. Well yeah,
yeah, so it's it's kind of yeah. That was my major thing with
it, is it just like it for game Other games were coming out in
that era and stuff like that. It felt very slight. And also I
just didn't really care for the multiplayer in it. Oh yeah, no,
one did, so I remember that being the big hook. No people were
like, oh, I didn't know any I was in like junior high,
and no one cared about the multiplayer like everyone hated that. Really Okay,
I just thought that was the thing that like fans of that game latched onto,
because I can't imagine them latching onto the single player stuff. No.
I mean there was like novelty, like I think you could unlock like on
footstep for multiplayer and that's if you got a certain amount of medals or something
and then but it was not good. But yeah, it was the campaign
that I liked, And yes it was slight, and but but I remember
really wanting to go back and play all those and find all the secret paths
and yeah, we get a number of hits for all the metals and all
that stuff and go the hard route to the andross and everything. Man,
but if you felt that was slight in ninety seven, uh, this is
sixty dollars and twenty sixteen, and it is very comparable. You know.
I can't go into like super specifics and stuff like the in fights and all
that stuff. But man, so we'll have a review soon. Yeah,
it's closer to launch, but it's so much like sixty four and even if
you strip away my concerns with the game pad stuff, which was my initial
concern. Yeah, uh, there's not a lot there. It's a sixty
dollars game and turn your R wing into a chicken. Yeah you can do
that, counterpoint? All right. Yeah, so I think I'm done,
Like this is what I think I was asking for for so long, a
Starbucks, and I think now it's like, ah, I don't even know.
I don't know what I want, if anything from that series anymore.
So all right, that's I think I'm done with Starbucks. I'll you know,
play asm and Smash Brothers every once in a while and Ambos. I
remember I remember being really excited about Star Fox two before that came out,
oh right before the Superintendo One, because it was just like, you know,
look great, I don't I just like that look Like as they added
graphical fidelity to Star Fox, I think I liked the universe a lot less.
Okay, it was just like, oh, lar wings are just a
space ship. Huh, what's seeing the polygonal look? No? I know
that they have an unlockable and then you have the Fox amibo. No,
Okay, I have two of them, and if you tap it on the
thing, you turn into the Super Nintendo and that doesn't help. That doesn't
helps. Too late makes sound effects and everything that's kind of neff and you're
with you kind of cool right there on the disc. Yeah, yeah,
yeah, I don't know, man. Star Fox just always seemed like this
really crazy, Like when that first game came out, it felt like magic.
You were just like, why would a Supernintendo even be able to do
this? And when you remove it from that kind of like what wizard rehappened
to make this game and just say like, oh, we made a space
shooting game, which is what it was. Every game past that since Star
Fox two got canceled. Uh, it's it's way less interesting. I don't
know. Yeah, it just it's just never never grabbed me at all.
Yep, Yeah, I'm but a man. Star Fox one is an awesome
fucking game, really cool. Holy shit, it's sixty four so similar in
the way it's formatted, like one had the branching paths and yeah, but
it was novel at that point. It was you know again like that that
that whole game was novel at that point. Yeah, you know, it's
like even the talking animals and stuff. You were like, oh man,
cool and sixty four and Ross just turned into a brain and eyeballs if you
do it right. And then I walked back past your desk and literally a
fucking frog popped up on the screen and said, do a barrel ron.
It was the rabbit. It's Peppy that says do a barrel roll. But
yes he does say that again. Well okay, that'll still It's just like,
huh all right, to keep our lower straight please. Yeah. Yeah.
Outside of that, uh, Jeff, I know we're probably both around
the same amount into the new Ratchett and Clank, Yes, which a new
old new Clank. Yeah, the street Fighter, the movie the Ratchet.
Yeah, yeah, totally. It seems real cool. And I realized that,
you know, the last full Ratchet and Clank was that I think was
it a cracking time like probably like twenty ten, twenty eleven one with all
those cool little puzzles. I just I did not like the PS three Ratchet
games one bit. See, I like total of destruction and cracking time,
and even like Ratchet three at that point, like the third Rater Arsenal,
that's the best one it's it's yeah. But at that point, like I
had played two of them, and so it was just like by the time
they got three, which is where they really started making changes, because two
was a lot like one. Okay, I just had a different hood color.
It was like, oh, this one's red. I think I came
in perfectly to that series because it was like the early days of college and
in high school when the first two were coming out, and it was like,
I'm too old for this. This is like my little sister plays this
game, yeah, and she loved it. Where's my Pokemon stadium we got
exactly Yeah, So I thought I was like too old for this kiddie game
or whatever. And then the third one came out and I remember like ign
or something gave it a nine point eight, and I was like, wait,
really, like are these few really good games? I was like fuck
it, I'll just I'll just go buy up your Arsenal and I did.
It. Turns out it's really great, totally like probably the peak of the
series. In a lot of ways. It was kind of where I like
became less interested in it because it was the third one. It was just
favor one. But also like in terms of like refining the game and giving
you a lot of options and stuff like like three is probably the creative peak.
Yeah, I remember all the weapons were awesome, like the level up
stuff seems to stand. That was that was where they really got into to
that aspect of it. I think it was just one of those things where
it's like, you know, having played through two tales of Lombacks and Robot
Man, by the time of Third World around, like, you know,
the jokes did not his horror, the story was not as interesting, you
know. Yeah, for me, I think it was. It was more
like I like the writing and the comedy in those games. I think they
work. But for me, it was more about the weapons and like the
action, like it was those games were so much more action heavy than I
expected before I played him. I thought it was more kind of Jack and
the extra platform me. But man, there's just a lot of shooting and
that I feel like they got better, you know, maybe, well they
got a lot better at just saying like here, make sure, you know,
make sure the player knows that there's AMMO everywhere. Yeah, yeah,
so that you don't fall into this trap of saving all your AMMO and just
using the wrench because I probably played through most of the first game just using
the rent like just in case, Just in case, man. But yeah,
they by the time they got to around three, they probably probably got
a lot better at conveying that sort of stuff to the player, and that
was always very rewarded. And blast everything apart with these dumb ass weapons.
Yeah, and there's just eight thousand boxes everywhere in constant bolts just flying at
your friend. Yeah. So, so by not liking those games or kind
of just like being over them for a good chunk of time, like this
new one, this this remake, this reboot is actually pretty cool. Yeah,
like level it's like a remake of the first one. Yeah, it's
it's so it's it's not a full remake, it is it is. It
is based it is based on the movie, which is based on the events
of the first game. Okay, so the movie is basically a retelling of
the Ratchet and Clank or story, and then they made a game based on
it, and then the game goes out of its way to let you know
that it knows that. Yeah. So like right out of the box,
there's you know, like, yeah, you're running into a guy who was
just like if I met you before, and he's like, see you in
the next reboot, you know it jokes that were like you get a lot
of like Ratchet just looking around on what yeah, all right, well whatever,
and like Captain Quark being confused by it. But like I know,
I think it was the Hall of Film. But then there was the disc
that yeah right right yeah, and that actually is the framing device for the
story. Is it's Captain Quark kind of retelling the events to someone, which
I don't know. Captain Quark is actually like kind of my least favorite part
of the franchise, but whatever, it's I think it works well enough here
and gives them an out for when they want to deviate from what the first
game was. Uh, it gives them gives them like a narrative out for
that stuff too. It looks really nice. Yeah, it seems to be
running it out thirty probably just like image quality in terms of just like the
character looks awfully nice. Like it's it's a good looking game. So I
was reading that the people making the movie and Insomnia, we're trading assets back
and forth, so like they would make the three D like the CGI model
for the movie and send it over and they would tweak it to make an
anime better in the game, and they were sharing this so there'd be parody
between the movie and the game, which all sounds really cool. It sounds
like they're probably doing this right as far as the movie and game. Stuff.
Like the trailer got really good reactions. Yeah, so I'm actually curious
to see it, you know, I'm never really there's a pacing to the
dialogue and stuff in this that, like the comedy works, yeah, because
it's it's it's well timed, it's well paced, like all the stuff that
you kind of need to make that stuff work works and and that's really hard
for games to get right, and a lot of them don't. So you
know, like you gotta give all the credit in the world for that,
because that's stuffs. That stuff's real hard. But I completely forgot that there
was a Ratchet Clank movie even coming out, yeah, like this month,
which is crazy. Yeah, they delayed the game or both of them so
they could like come out around the same time. So yeah, I don't.
I remember seeing this game running for the first time back at the play
station Experience, and I was just kind of walking past and like Ratchet whatever,
and then I actually stopped for a seconde actually, holy shit, Like
yeah, like when you really look at these environments and stuff like that,
like like compared to what Ratchet has looked like, and also just like this
actually looks pretty fucking good. Yeah, there's some stuff about the shooting that
I don't love, but whatever. Yeah. I like the new upgrade system
for the guns, like where it's got this kind of branching like sphere grid
type thing, and once you encompass these question mark ones, you get kind
of these bonus upgrades and you don't know him until you get him. And
yeah, I think I'm excited for this one because like they put out Quest
for Booty, and I think there might have been one other one that was
just like this downloadable smaller Ratchet game. It wasn't Quest for Booty, the
downloadable one. Yeah, that was the one MPs three. I can't remember
if they made another one past that, but Question for Booty I think was
the most recent one. I thought Cracket Time came after Quest for Booty.
Wasn't Quest for Booty DLC four Tools of Destructions was what was the Tower Defense
one? Oh? That was are you thinking? Locked? That was?
That was before that that was that was a weird period in Ratchet history,
and that was a dark, dark bit that was that was been the console
like like, well, let's get one more of these out. That was
between after Arsenal and Tools of Destruction. Oh right, probably late PS two
even I think, and then there was old Agent Clang for PSP and PS
two they did. They did that Ratchet all for one game, right,
Ratchet has been all over the place. Yeah, like there hasn't been a
full one since a cracking time. They made some mistakes along the way there,
but at the same time, like man, you know, like main
Burbank and Zombiac like kind of you know, here and there with different stuff,
and like meanwhile, the other Insomnia, right, the other Ensombiac studio
just thrumming away with Ratchet games on the rege into the Nexus was ast okay.
Yeah, like they have been cranking out Ratchet games steadily, Full Frontal
Assault oh yeah in twenty twelve. Yeah, so like and then all these
kind of one Ratchet game of Year whatever, that's what I'm saying. Yeah,
right, they founded the second studio in North Carolina and it's just been
ratcheting for man, that's ever, it's really wild, Like, yeah,
I'm trying to I'm trying to look back into this, like, yeah,
your Arsenal in two thousand and four was where like I was kind of like,
yeah, that was that was was a good one of those games.
But by playing the first two in two thousand and three and two thousand and
two, yeah, it was a little a little a little boring at that
point. Yeah, whereas if you're jumping on point totally. Yeah, I
mean it's obviously I mean they're going to keep improving as they make them,
right, But a lot of the fun for me is like in these big,
full ratche games, like seeing like oh, you've got your combuster or
your your pyro whatever, and seeing how much more powerful it gets over the
course of a long game. Like I felt like the shorter games did not
give me that sense. It was like now it's like, oh, Okay,
this is gonna be a big, full ass game. I'm looking forward
to to watching this progression. So yeah, I'm I'm way in the mood
for this game, right Yeah. Like I'm looking at the our franchise page
for Ratchet and Client right now, and yeah, there's like there's first three
Ratchet games, which is kind of the core, and then after that it
just spins off into just junk. I thought all that stuff was was real,
real rough or every everything. Everything I tried. It was just like,
man, Nope, I don't want to come back to ratchets at all.
If you're gonna make this, yeah, multiplayer focus thing, you're gonna
do this with ratical like size matters on PSP. Yeah, I think Deadlocked
was like an arena combat thing, and then full Frontal Assault was the tower
defense thing. I think, yeah. And I just thought Tools of Destruction
was was kind of rotten too. I remember that looked really good. That
was early PS three. I remember all the like parts where you're like sliding
down the rails and the city's collapsing in the background. It looked really cool.
But I liked the game, but I don't think it had the impact
of up your arsenally. Not No. And then in the cracking time,
I actually really liked the clank sections where they had the cool like you're making
copies of yourself and like, okay, you're gonna make shadow clank step on
this switch and then rewind time and your shadow still goes and does that and
you have to work in conjunction. Like those puzzles were awesome, I thought,
so. Yeah. I don't know, man, I wonder if this
will lead to just like a new resurgence for Ratchet, Like if this game
ends up coming out doing well, if the movie does okay, like if
they if they're just like, nope, we're back in it making proper fucking
sequels to Ratchet and Clank now with this is the new origin story, like
let's go, and that's definitely my favorite thing in Soniac's ever done. Yeah,
man, all this is just making me really bummed out that nobody else
really liked Sunset Overdrive around here. I liked it a lot. Were you
into that game? Yeah, we talked about that. I really enjoyed it.
I thought I remembered everybody else, No, I beat it, loved
it. Okay, Yeah, all right, great game. Okay, that's
good to hear. Yeah, there's a lot of you know, a lot
of shared DNA there with crazy ass weapons, and yeah, the grinding aspect
was like fan fuckantastic. All the traversal stuff in that game, grinding grinding
on rails. Yeah, yeah, like right, I thought the traversal stuff
was I don't know, maybe it just takes a while your mind around it,
but I just like it was so off putting out of the gate,
like I just didn't well, well, yeah, I will definitely say they
they stop about one or two traversal moves short of where you need to be
at the beginning of that game by it, because like you you get like
the like there's the air dash, there's I forget, there are some other
like upgrades around bouncing off of things and keeping your combat going. Yeah,
like that that was fun like four or five out. Well know, I
mean you get that stuff four or five hours in and that's when it gets
awesome. Like I agree, like it's a little bit disjointed the traversal stuff
at the beginning, but as soon as you get those upgrades, having to
get combat book in your on rails, that's what was off putting. Really.
Yeah, so generous felt like it all again, like it takes a
few hours to really get the stuff you need, but once it clicks,
like it plays so well. Hey guys, thought like that, like the
auto am being as generous as it was kind of made it on engaging.
I guess on the shooting end. I mean obviously like it's they balanced in
favor of like you focus on the traverse and it just happens. It moves
the focus towards, you know, moving around and making sure your combo stays
up and that kind of thing that makes sense for the type of game that
is. I just didn't really like it, and and you know, and
obviously they also did Resistance, which I know, thanks, like yeah,
like the first one. Yeah, Sunchet, I should point out is a
free games game with gold this month? Oh is it? Yeah? Oh
yeah, so yeah, if you've got Xbox a lot of gold, fucking
go down on that game. Shit. Yeah, why not show anybody here
play Fuse? I Refuse too multiplayer Fuse with Brad Yeah for his review yep,
Jeff, Yeah, me, Jeff and Vinny. I think ended up
finishing the game like I got. I got basically to the last mission and
I was like, hey, I need to try the co op for the
review. You guys want to play some Fuse. And we finished the game
and I was like, all right, which guy were you? Were you
the shield guy, the mag shield? I think I played the shield guy.
Okay, I was the guy with the like melty bullets or whatever.
You could shoot the stuff end of the wall and then press the button in
like lava spurts would come out. Yeah. Man, that game, I
don't I don't know. It's hard to say how much of that is Insomniac
and how much was he a But yeah, it was originally over Killed,
over Don't Tell, over Strike, Yes, over Strike with the kind of
team for style. Yeah, that initial announcement trailer for that game. I
was like, okay, yeah, yeah, okay, and then like the
new art style and the box art I think we're revealed at the same time
saying oh no, what are you doing to this? Congratulations, we have
focused tested the fun out of this video game for you. Look great,
awesome. I'm glad to hear this new Ratchet is shaping up. That sounds
Yeah, it's all right, sure, you know that's cool. Yeah,
pleasantly surprised or I guess, I mean, I don't know. I thought
it looked pretty good last time I saw it some months ago, so it
wasn't a huge surprise. But yeah, neat, yeah, real cool,
excellent, and yeah I'll be playing through that. We'll have quick looks and
all that stuff for star Fucks and Ratchett excellent. A week or two.
Video games are coming out. Yeah, as per usual. As of right
now, there are video games. They are all over the places right this
second, they are among us. We're about to find video games living among
us. As of this recording, they also exist. Yes, but also
as you're listening to it, also Dark Souls three. Yeah, is that
it's coming out as we're recording it is. We will know shortly if the
PC version figure out if this crash that has happened on our studio PC Jason,
you had to happen once at home have not happened. Okay, not
at home at all. Yeah, and I've tried. It has been the
weirdest situation with this game because we got steam keys like three weeks before release,
which is the hard crazy early for any game, much less like a
big triple A like help publisher backed game. You know, it's it's a
Dark Souls game. And that's dude, it doesn't matter what it is like
that is that is crazy early to get this double legget. No, I'm
just sucking around. Wait what fact, I mean, take a look at
that game, serious production values, like it looks fucking incredible. It's why
why does the cover look like the dude is giving a fucking thumbs up,
Like what is going on with cover of Dark Souls three where he's just got
his like pointy thumb and it just looks like he's given this really fucking non
committal thumbs off, like a buddy, I've lived, I've made it,
like we bought. Yeah, exactly, I got good. I summoned and
we got through it. That's yeah, that's a that's a you know,
cultural thing. You'd give a thumbs up after you summon with something. Yeah,
yes, yeah, show show the proper respect, dude, Ross,
Yes, the fist bump. Yeah. So yeah, we got the game
super early and they were like make long story short, like like kind of
early patches that we applied to it that we're supposed to be basically what the
day one patch was going to be, and then immediately started running into crazy
crashes to desktop left and right consistently, like in the same spot. Yeah,
Vinny and al Austin both had tons of trouble with crashes. Yeah,
and there's still having that issue. Yeah, like a current like the one
Oath three. Yeah, they put out another patch, one of three on
Friday. That's it should be the one that's coming out at launch. I
think, yeah, we tried to play that. You tried to play the
game on upf he on Friday and ran into the same crash. It's just
it's something about bonfires. Being at a bonfire makes the game crash the desktop.
Those aren't important bad thing to having a Dark Souls game, But yet
at home, like I said, I tried religently to try and reproduce that.
All different classes came at it from all different angles, and I couldn't
get to crash. I I don't know what the deciding factor is. It's
super weird and crazy and inconsistent. It's led to conspiracy theories amongst the staff
about like are you are you hooked up for over HDM everybody, like everybody
everybody on the staff has like seven hundred series cards. Everybody on the staff
has a pet theory about what it is that's causing these crunch uh. So
yeah, Like the game is unlocking on Steam as we speak, so hopefully
in the next few minutes we will find out if this is actually a widespread
You said you heard Jim Sterling had run into the same I thought I had
read that, So I think I think I saw that too, but I
like, I know a lot of other like streamers and stuff that had it
on PC that no problems for the last like, yeah, we're just lucky,
no idea. What's going on with that? Is everyone running Windows ten?
Yes? M M, I don't know who knows. I tried to
go to Dark Souls three on the Steam Store and it says, sorry,
but you're not permitted to view these materials at this time. Are you using
HDMI? How old are you? Maybe? Does your phone run on a
seven seventy possibly? Okay, yes, my phone has a seven seventy's yeah,
uh yeah. Do we have breaking news which by the time people hear
this will be stale and krusty news. I don't know. Yeah, Dark
Souls is out, but I'm seeing some people talk about a one point one
update, which I don't know if that's one if they really mean one point
zero one, okay, because one point oh one came out like yeah,
like a couple weeks ago, like I said, and then one point oh
three came out on Friday. I think I'm just I'm poking around a few
different like form threads and stuff like that. There's a story from today from
some side I have never heard of that says dark Souls three patch one point
one okay, but but but it's about like benchmarks or something, Dark Souls
one point oh versus one point one patch. Okay, that that sounds less
like somebody somebody version number straight. Yeah, that's that sounds just wrong.
But well one point of three addressed some performance stuff pretty profoundly. Yeah.
Yeah, there was one area in particular that was running like sub thirty at
times on the PC YEA some consoles. Yeah probably I didn't get a chance
to see it in person, but uh yeah, once one of three hit,
I went directly to that area and it was running just fine. Yeah.
Yeah, it sounds like they cleaned that stuff up. One guy on
this shifty discord I frequent says that he's got a seven seventy and his crashing.
Okay. I think that might be the one common thread at this point
between every machine we've had these crashes on. They're all running seven hundred series
cards. Does anybody check the video site for locked updated drivers for because normally
on launched day Austin. Austin said he's been on top of that. There
hasn't been Yeah, and sometimes they will, like threat, they will they
will send out pre really drivers to go with games, and there has not
been one for this one. You didn't get your game ready experience, not
yet. I assume that they would release drivers for this, but it's a
big, big enough release that they would do something, I guess. But
hopefully, hopefully this is not going to be a widespread thing or yeah,
affect like anybody at all, because it is a completely fucking game breaking.
I feel like I've dodged a bullet with this. Yeah, it kind of
sucks having that like additional tension on top of, you know, the normal
tension. Like I asked, Awesome, how because he you know, I
sent him that first Steam code we got ages ago. He played through it.
He's been done with it for a week or something, and I asked
him. I was like, oh, would you end up playing through it
as? And he was like a Knight because that was the one class that
didn't crash consistently breaking breaking report from this person on this very shifty discord discord
Elite discord. He just played as the Night and it works fine. Oh
man, everybody play a night. Don't play a night. I think I
usually play night play that's like the strong melee dude. Right, well,
it's uh, it's kind of the balanced kind of one hand and shield guy.
Can he throw a fireball? Because I'm playing well, I don't think
I picked Pyromancer. I think I can do fireball if Yeah, anybody,
anybody can if you get the pyromancy flame for them. But okay, I
think if you throw were you able to throw a fireball at the very beginning
of the game. I think maybe when you were a piromancer, did you
have a weinard really picked that? Maybe I don't think Piro a very popular
choice in the first Maybe I did pick that then, huh. I would
in fact, if you like solicited Twitter and said, hey, what should
I play through Dark Souls ads, I bet some people would have said the
Pyromancer. Huh. Okay, it's a it's a good fun class because you've
got some basic projectile magic, but you also can just fall back to it's
a fun word to say to It is really fun. Promancer. And that's
the one where you don't have to like a tune all this stuff, right,
Like, don't you just always have the fire thing? And oh it's
every time I go to Vonpire, I get like eight charges of my fireball
all it changes from game to game, but yes, basically and one at
least. Yeah, because it's based on like existing it's not like its own,
like you know, faith based stuff is for you know, the cleric
stuff. Intelligence is you know, a magic user, but the pyromancy stuff
is you know, based off of that stuff. Okay, then I think
I am that because intelligence is the thing that you need for other spells,
right, yeah, Okay, then I'm definitely not doing that shooting magic.
Pyromancy is cool because there's a bunch of weird dark story stuff behind it.
Yeah, Pyromancy is disdained by the rest of the populace, is like a
dark art. But yeah, I think the first abomination you get it's like
kind of the light side, and then there is like a dark side to
that. I found a pram the cleric. I found a pyromancy tone that
my pyromancy and PC won't accept. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, that's what
I'm talking about. It is too dark, too dark. Oh god,
it's different. Yeah. If if even if even the guy who was cast
out of society as an abomination won't view it, then what is wrong with
that? The lady I got reading the cleric tones to me, I brought
her a couple. She's like, this is too dark, that the darkness
and naws it dark Dark Souls three, the darkest Dark Souls ever. She's
blessed. I have to give her Braille tones. Yeah, I got some
of those. Interesting. That game is very, very good. Yeah,
it is as a Dark Souls game, Like, if you like Dark Souls
games, you will probably have a fine fucking time with it. Like yeah,
not really really well anything like above and beyond, like what they've done
previously, lots of tweaks in refinements, and you've gone so far as to
say that it's like the greatest It feels like the greatest hits album of Dark
Souls to me, I can see that. I think maybe a better analogy
might be, like it's a remix album. Yeah, I mean it's it's
not note for note. I'm just getting more deja food than I'm like,
oh god, they just redid this. I'm not getting that feeling. We
talked about this a lot on the Quick Look, and then I got some
comments from people saying like, oh, you seem to hate the aspect of
it that it's very highly referential to the previous games, Like I don't I
don't hate that, it's just it's just it's jarring for this series, where
like the two previous games and like Bloodbourne is the same, Like they're all
the same way. They are like black boxes, right, like, yeah,
you don't know who any of the characters are. They speak in cryptic
ways that don't tell you anything that's going on. Like until you have experience
with these games, the mechanics don't make any sense, you know, like
absolutely, they're inscrutable and impenetrable. And then all of a sudden, here's
this game where it's like one reference after another, and you know it's like,
oh, I see a lot of that stuff is lost on me because
yeah, I've I've let a majority of the narrative and the story just kind
of go over my head. Yeah, you know, I'll seek it out
if I really want to, but you know, the game does not do
a good job of explaining the story. Getting the new one that, yeah,
that any of them, Yeah, yeah, the previous ones absolutely,
You're totally right about that. This one. Do you want to? Breaking
update from I've Searched Dark Souls three crash on Twitter there's kind of a lot
happening here. Well, actually no, there's actually not that much today,
but there are there definitely seemed to be reports on it. This guy says
he has one crashing character Creator three. Immediately after first Bonfire, I played
Dark Souls on the hardest difficult, he says, Kevin Cameron five minutes progress
system, crash, do it again? That is the hardest. That sounds
that sounds like the problem. Yea, Bun Bun says, the first thing
Dark Souls three did was fucking crash. I am done. And then some
people referencing that we have had crashes, so it's actually there's there are not
that many tweets right now in this first forty five minutes. Oh boy,
does it do the thing with the health system from two where if you die?
Okay, I hated that thing. I knew that's what it absolutely doesn't.
Okay, does it do the thing from two where enemies will go permanently?
It does it? No, it doesn't do that. There is there
is a health penalty to being quote unquote dead or undead, but it's not
like chipped down like two, where the bar is constantly getting small. Hated,
I know it's nothing like, it's nothing that harsh. Okay, good.
Uh the disapparing enemies, I don't know for sure. What did it
take like twenty times or so for you to run in fifteen something like you
forget the actual number. But yeah, I don't think this game does that.
I don't think it's okays either. It sounds more like one and a
few aspects then, and it seemed to have like, uh the stamina now,
like I don't know if you remember it in like in two, like
they could just swing it's you constantly. But I've run into a number of
circumstances where you know, somebody with a big weapon can swing three times and
then they they're done. You know. Yeah that was a big problem.
Yeah it's too for me anyway. But I just kind of generally the way
the way I feel going through this game versus the previous games is like in
the past, it would be like, you know, who the hell is
that guy? And like what is he telling me? Like what is all
this shit? In this case, it's more like, oh, hey it's
that guy. Oh hey, I'm doing this again, you know, like
characters from the previous game. Yeah, like I'm skittish about what to talk
about, because a ton of people yelled about boilers from last week. I
don't think I could name a single character from any Dark Souls or Blood Born
game. Andre I Reckon who was on the Blacksmith. Oh the big guy,
Yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah, So he's your Blacksmith and Dave the
bell Man don't remember him? No, you don't remember Dave. No shit
man, He's everybody's favorite character. It's the best part of him. Yeah,
that ring is pretty cool. He's pretty much just a reskinned version of
Ricky from Demon Souls. Yeah, okay, yeah, Ricky was a real
dick. Fuck Ricky. Yeah yeah, poisoned that poison cloud spells. I'm
digging the combat yea, that means more refined. I like the weapon skills.
It's been fun. It's actually actually I never used the weapon skills.
I probably should be finding more and more useless for him. As I was
finding a little more unique types of weapons, like I found like a set
of like two handed maces, as in, like you know, one in
each wild and that'll give you some different like spin attacks. So I played.
I tried to play Dark Souls the first first one when it came out.
I tried to play it, Yes, put an hour and a half,
two hours into it before just kind of going like, man, fucking
whatever. And then I tried to do the same thing with Dark Souls too,
and got away from that even sooner. And then, for whatever reason,
just the right timing or just the way this game started or something,
something about Blood Born clicked in a way that the other the Dark Souls games
did not, and I ended up playing quite a lot of that thing.
Yeah, I think you got like just maybe around halfway through it or something
something like that. A little bit further than that, you'll probably drop this
one a lot. Yeah, the wrong from a crash, Yeah, I
got past wrong. Yeah you did. Okay, you were fighting that guy
up on the roof I think last I saw you playing. Yeah, that's
probably down the stake and then the Luck Souls came out. That's pretty far.
Yeah, yeah I got there. I did that. Yeah, you
got You got pretty deep in then. So, yeah, what do you
think if if the reason that you liked Blood Born was the way that it
played differently from Dark Souls. The no I don't just play the thing is
I don't know, because I I didn't play all right, I mean that
badly. Play enough of Dark Souls one and two to know what it was.
It's not necessarily the sidestep stuff that makes blood Born work for me.
Did you like the guns? No? I actually didn't, and I think
I might actually there for a shield. The guns are weird and yeah,
blood Born because they're not carry Yeah, they're not super use of or useful
in an offensive capacity, right, They're just there to like trigger this pair.
That's that's a cool concept. But I don't know. I got pretty
good at lining those up with certain enemies, and then at some point I
got just you know, I was doing so much damage with the other weapon
I had that, Like, I just I found myself not even bothering to
learn the timing. Yeah, in most cases you don't have to if you
get used to like where the invisibility is in the role or the dash just
dash through a text pretty much. And that's how I started. That's how
I started playing it, and didn't really use the gun much at all,
to the point where I was just like this this maybe like this initially seemed
like a really cool idea and the gun is maybe not that great. So
I'm wondering if that if those feelings will kind of line me up for Dark
Souls three. Don't know a little bit. It's really hard to say.
It depends on because they style. I guess it's very much plays for like
you know, you know, a hand in each weapon and just like Slash
through ship. Yeah, alright, it looks, plays, feels sounds is
very much like Dark Souls mostly Dark Souls one, although there are some some
maybe more oblique references to two, but very much just like oh, like
talking about character. We were talking about a lot of this stuff last week,
but you know, characters are reprised and I don't want to say too
much, but a lot of familiar stuff, yeah, which is what it
is. It's just it's just different. I don't I don't hate it.
I don't hate that aspect of it. It's just very different for a series
that has been just about like confusing you and wowing you at every turn,
you know, to kind of go back to the well, yeah, it's
a little bit like you know, oh man, real hot and cold on
that. Really there's some really really interesting ones and I just did one last
night and it was just like, really, but it's not having fun with
it. Dumb. Yeah, the deacons. I'll just put that out there,
and Okay, I don't think I've gotten to that yet. Yeah,
once people get there, they're like they'll know what I'm talking. Do you
think the game seems like way more finishable or just way like does it seem
easier because it's the third game or the fifth game and you want to look
at it or whatever and that because you've gotten so used to this exact style
and I'm like hearing it often kind of cruised through it and beat it like
before it was out and stuff. I was like, oh, well,
I'm definitely like I've beaten one of the major bosses I beat on the first
try, Like another major one I beat on the second try. Like that
stuff was a little surprising to me. But I couldn't tell if it's because
I've gotten more proficient or if it's actually easier. I don't know, right,
Yeah, I got back and forth again. Yeah, that's a couple
that I you know, maybe one shotted and then there was one that I've
really got stuck on for like a day and a half, but that was
decent, like I don't know, weird reasons. Yeah, I will,
I will say in terms of it being finishable, like it's it's like,
at least to the point I'm at, it's like unflinchingly linear, which is
kind of surprising. It seems like maybe there's a less mystery, and I
I'm trying to decipher from talking to people who have played it, if that's
because people have played a lot of these games before and it's the same style
of mystery, or if like you're saying, it's it's just it's it's a
more linear game. Well, talking to people who have finished it, I'm
now hearing things about areas I cruised through that I missed that I was like,
oh shit, I can go back there. Like there's a whole side
area that I didn't even notice go through there, like I should out.
Yeah, a lot from it, And there are side there are mechanics and
little quest lines off to the side that are like as inscrutable as anything they've
ever done. You know. It's like it's like, well, you got
to talk to this guy and have him come back to your shrine, and
then you talk to him when this happens, and he'll give you this.
But if you do it, if you wait until after you beat this other
boss to do it, he will die. Yeah, Or if you do
do it right, then there's other NPC you'll show up and then she'll sell
you a thing. But if you join this other covenant, she won't want
to talk to you, you know what I mean? Right, Like,
there's still tons of that stuff in there, a lot of interpersonal relationships with
the NPCs. There's definitely a conceptually crazy for definitely those NPCs usually say when
you talk to them in these games. All right, But but like in
terms of the way the areas are arranged, and we again covered to some
last week, but it's very much like you know, go through an area,
beat the boss, like be teleported to the next area or funneled into
the next area. But yeah, I did hear that that I'm I'm at
twenty two hours and it sounds like I'm coming up on the point where there
are suddenly multiple paths you can follow. Yeah. Yeah, there's one path
in particular that I completely missed. I have no idea that I could even
get there, and i'd uh, yeah, I kept going through the game
and is there a sage involved? Maybe Okay, that might be the same
path that I Yeah, yeah, I totally missed that. Yeah, I
found that the sage yeah, much much later. Yeah. Yeah, and
another part of that area talking to like Austin apparently did that part as soon
as he found it and I missed it, and he was like, yeah,
it was a bitch for me, but you're probably like over leveled for
it at this point. Yeah. I summoned somebody and it was like it's
super easy. Yeah, but Austin Walker is on the case. And then
he is he is finding more people talking about it on Twitter, and I
told him, see if they have seven hundred series cards, so he's he's
checking particular. Austin gonna put a luth had on get to the bottom of
this thing. It's been vexing us for two weeks, outsourced QA, you've
been waiting for I know we're on the case. I like, I think
I mentioned before. Yeah, Like I found a reproducible crash on the PS
four version that I alerted NAMCO too, And like thirty minutes later a mass
email goes out saying, we have identified an issue in the not since Kanan
Lynch too have we been on the case. But QA, So that bug
got fixed. I checked that bug got fixed, and the one or three
patch that came out of right, and the performance stuff like the p F
four version that I've been playing seems totally sound like and it looks good too.
Yeah, yeah, it looks good. You know. It runs like
Bloodborne ran, like I mean, we're where but whatever, it's kind of
chunks up a little bit here and there on par with console. Assuming this,
yeah, assuming this crash thing gets resolved, like PC looks amazing,
Like, that's definitely the one to play, aside from the one that goes
so far as to say like definitely like they're they're pretty close. I think
you think, I mean, you know, seriously before it runs at sixty
frames. Yeah, seeing it on seen it on UPF running that smooth and
resolution, it seems like the thing that but like the definitive version, like
I think it's totally fucking playable. Oh no, no, I'm not saying
if if you want to play it on a console, it's totally follow sounds
like maybe the Xbox version is a lower rough, but I wouldn't. I'm
just saying, if you has to call it night and day or anything,
if you have the option, you should play it on a nice Pcnyeah.
Sure, look nice. Yeah, watching you play it for about three minutes
on Friday before it died. Right, man, it's a really good game.
I am like really excited to end this podcast and go home and play
some more of it. Oh yeah, me too, Like, and I'm
having more fun with this one in particular because I'm finding more like mini bosses
and just like more short term goals, so I can only play for like
a limited amount of time. So that's been like super beneficial to me.
It's like, Oh, I'm gonna get enough souls to go buy this key
this lady's selling and open up this passage and go see what's back there.
Like oh fuck, I want to go fight that big dude O there?
How do I do this? And then yeah, I'll spend like an hour
doing it. It's like, okay, cool, I feel accomplished. I
had actually got something something out of this. I will say I almost feel
like they took the criticism about blood Borne to heart about it not having enough
different weapons and different types of weapons, because I feel like I have like
thirty to forty eight weapons in my inventory right now. Yeah, I think
as well, And just like I'm rippled within decision about which one is to
upgrade because there's so many of them. I've I've been kind of shooting myself
in the foot because you know, a lot of those weapons are not nearly
as good as like my starting one that i've I've you know, I put
a gem into you. I you know, put a bunch of fucking you
know, a tight night into it and upgraded it and and it's doing burly
ass damage. But it's like, I want to branch out a little bit.
That's the badass way to play game. And I feel like people fucking
talk shit about that, but whatever, man, fucking I'm not talking shit
about BioShock. Like that's the just fucking upgrade the wrench man. Stop sucking
around like with you and wrenches. But fucking that's how you fucking play Ratchet
Man. That that's how you fucking play as the unarmed guy in the game.
Because they've give them all kinds of weird fist stuff. By the end
of the game, you know, like, is there really in this one?
Wow, like fist there are there are fists where there are crazy fist
weapons, yes see, but like a lot of that stuff, it's like,
Okay, well, maybe I'll upgrade it. A little bit to see
if it's even comparable, and I'm not seeing any Like that's a situation where
I'd want to like actually go out on the internet and find some fucking you
know, bar graphs and you know, trying to do the calculations. But
before I invested all that ship, those upgrade tables exists. I have seen
them, have they? I mean it launching in Japan early, it's seated
the internet with a wealth of information. Often has received one response from someone
saying they're using display port and a seven eighty oh man are and they are
crashing? Yeah, so it's that's that seems like that's the new thing.
For a while, there was a HDMI thing. Yeah, are we ready
to upgrade this to working theory? Working theory is that this is something to
do with cards in the seven hundreds. That seems to be what we have
observed. Has anybody tried converting to VGA yet? We should try it over
a steam Link? Yeah? I wonder what that would even its connect the
monitor. I played actually a little bit via steam Link over the weekend.
Yeah, runs good, good experience. Yeah, as long as you got
a local connection for sure. But it was fine. Get that hard Line,
little leg whatever. Man, I'm trying to think. It's like navigating
a minefield of what are people going to think? Is too much to hear
about this game? I don't know. I mean, that's probably plenty of
talk about I guess. I mean, I really it looks amazing. It's
one of the best looking in the series. Some of the new environments are
really like fucking breathtaking, dude, there is there is one particular. There's
one, yeah, you know which one I'm talking about. There's a point
where you just like you beat a boss, you walk up some stairs and
walk out of a cave onto this skyline and it was like it was literally,
like it sounds dumb to say, jaw dropping, but it was very
much a mouth hanging open, like wow, that is some art. Yeah,
like that is a put down the control them. Yeah wow. But
you can't say for sure if this is any harder, any easier than the
previous games, or I really it's such a if. The changes seems smart
though from what you said, yeah, well, they've added a lot of
stuff. They've added a lot of complexity and systems to the way the weapons
upgrade and what their you know, their side abilities Doka even stuff like uh,
you know, like like two had the thing where you know, the
bosses drop specific souls that you can either cash in for a ton of souls
or turn into crazy weapons. Yeah, but you didn't really know what those
weapons could be. Like there's just a vendor now that will that will let
you trade in your boss souls for like here's the crazy weapons you can get,
yeah, from the outset, which is kind of Yes, so they
they make explicit some things that were like kind of things you had to wiki
before. Yeah. Yeah, I guess it's I feel like like you knew,
like you could go to that vendor and say, hey, hey,
I've got this gem here's and he'll be like, here's what I can make
for you, and maybe so and too maybe that's the case, but regardless,
Yeah, it's cool having that from from the get go. Yeah,
some of the enemies are I don't want to say smarter, but like some
of their I'm having a tougher time in this game, Like I don't want
to go as far as to say that, like the game is harder.
Yeah, but I'm getting more of that feeling than I like I did in
the first game, where It's just like you get your ass fucking kicked when
you first get to an area for quite a while, and then you will
eventually feel like a badass afterwards. Whereas in like Dark Souls Too, I
felt like if I was just being careful, I didn't really have to learn
too many patterns and stuff. I felt a little more powerful on that one.
Like that one is a little bit easier, but yeah, I'm definitely
getting man my tushie kicked. Yeah, in this one, they do some
creative stuff with like enemies. But there's one part where the enemy spawns are
like almost hilarious in a way. There's a couple of spots where enemies fighting
other enemies is used in a in a kind of clever way, Like there's
some some neat little scenarios here and there that are worth seeing. Yeah,
there's there's a lot of variety in there, even if it's it's like highly
highly aware of its predecessors. Let's see you guys buying the cool t shirts.
Yeah, in these sweet shirts that they made. Love seeing these they
made shirts. Dank memes, No, only the dankest. They took an
Oli Moss design from years ago. There was on like Tea Spring or on
you know, on on No One not Tea Spring, thread lists or something
I want to say where it was a bunch of spoiler stuff for movies all
kind it's all the text. Yeah yeah, yeah. They made a Dark
Souls version of that that just like has like this large list of just like
here's some ship from Dark Souls and it just doesn't form like the image of
a thing from Dark Souls. No, okay, it's just a bunch of
text. Yeah, let's put text in like like like visual elements right two
with it too, and it's like the Sun yeah okay, yeah, yes,
there's probably a praise of the Sun dropped in there. There's a death
counter, there's a there's a message there. It's a nice chest ahead,
even though it should have been like what amazing chest ahead? Is there?
The real Dark Souls starts here. I think they actually stopped short of that,
okay, okay, and just an arrow pointing down yeah, oh yeah,
yeah, yes, no, it's always good to have. Yeah,
I mean whatever, like that thing is not great. But they really assaulted
the earth with their like hype campaign for it. Oh yeah, before they
tweeted out its specifically out of Namco UK right or banded Namco. You can.
It's like we got some big news, like here's this fucking dumb shit,
like like I don't even give a fuck about Dark Souls a lower or
anything like that, but I look you still. You look at that and
you're like, man, you could have made all these awesome black metal looking
fucking shirts with all this imagery and all this like crazy insane story stuff that
Dark Souls is known for, and instead you chose to fucking slap together the
memiest bullshit you could find. I think there's some other merchant and a design
that is not even yours. Yeah, Like it's just real fucking and then
they break some of those individual images out and sell them on several shirts.
It's it's a it's a bad fucking scene. But you know, like like
like pre tweeting about that just gave people a night to go like, oh,
they're gonna finally do like Dark Souls one remaster or whatever, just like
all kinds of you know, actually exciting things that's gotta be come to pass.
I wonder if if they all like as soon as they sent those if
they as soon as they started promoting that they had something to announce with Dark
Souls the following day and saw that reaction. They were like, oh,
we should we should have thought this through. We fuck up because when we
come through and say we got shirts for sale, it's gonna be a fucking
blood bath. Oh well, at least the game is really good as a
quick as i'd like. In on the flip side to those shitty T shirts,
Meat bun uh sells really fucking awesome Dark Souls T shirts like they're in
the like the style of like tarot cards. Yeah, that license. So
if you're looking for awesome Dark Souls shirts, please please go there. Check
those out. I always like that name. That's your plug, Meat Bun,
Meat Bun. There's another seven seventy on dv I crashing that Austin has
encountered. Yeah, I'm asking somebody about it. We are going to corner
the market on Google SEO for Dark Souls seven seventy crashes. There's been three
another three tweets to my search of Dark Souls crash. Okay, this with
this guy says, hahaha, I just got that exact fucking crash to desktop.
The Giant bomb got what approaching the first bond five and Dark Souls three
lucky you. Uh. This other person says, Okay, I'm going to
bed to read a book. Dark Souls three is just a crash factory.
So I it seems this does not seem super widespread because I'm literally talking about
five tweets in the you know, hour since release. This seems like it
would be way more widespread if it were. It seems like there would be
a lot more people complaining about it if it was way widespread. But that's
still a real problem, definitely, and our working theory of seven seventies seven
eighties cards like that being the issue. I think that that's been the one.
The one is the one completely consistent variable across this whole thing, right,
is that the video card has always been a seven hundred series on every
machine. Yeah that we've had the crashes on, we are still available for
higher Well, you know we've got and we've got that six seventy. We've
got that six seventy on that machine near our desks. Just try it on
that, ye see what happens. Apparently there's a Windows XP box somewhere on
this it's right, it is trying to find it. That was amazing.
Zombie XP machine Dan before it came around the other day, go like,
you guys, know where there's in that Windows XP machine running around like it
has been like trying to trace the IP to find it because it's rogue and
they don't update those things for security anymore, and it's gonna poison our network.
Shouldn't it just shouldn't They should be able to figure out what poored it's
hooked up to is like that way, we're just block it or just block
the port. Somebody could plug it intother port if they found it. Yeah,
I suppose, but I think, oh man, we should find that
XP machine. Yeah we should just we should launch it or know what we
should do. We should vestigation and more XP machines and sneak them in here
and plug them in and weird into weird unused offices and stuff like that.
I was just really making crazy machine. Could we like run XPN Oh probably
on a like a like a computer on a stick or respberry pie style thing.
Right, it's like, well up in the ceiling, baby, I
don't know if XP would. We're just gonna burger our own ceiling. But
with XP machines, I haven't run off of Wi Fi and they're like,
oh, we don't hide them all over this place. Man, just building
will be rotten with Windows XP. I would love to do that. That
would that would be really good. Play Dark Souls three if you like Dark
Souls, it is excellent shoot out. Uh anybody play Enter the Gungeon?
Yeah a little bit. Yeah, Yeah, that game is cool. I
like that game. It's except that I'm not sure the shooting has clicked for
me yet. Well, you know, it seems like the one thing that
that's a game I get. I get the feeling that they made a deliberate
choice to not have an aiming radical, and I feel like that game would
really benefit from one. I kind of agree. There's nothing in the options
for that. No, well, if you're playing, if you're playing with
the mouse and keyboard, it's a different story because it would have I don't
know, but I think so, I'm not sure, but I don't know.
There's a slider on PS four for like the auto Yeah. Yeah,
so I turned that all the way up on PS four, but then I
ended up I ended up playing with a controller on on PC. I should
have grabbed the mouse and seeing what it did. But I played various builds
of that. I want to say that there's totally radical if you're playing with
a mouse, but because you would have to because if you have to aim
somehow right, Well, you could just use the mouse to control the gun.
Which way the gun? That seems like it would be bad. Well
that's what it does on the console. Like that's the only way you can
tell. Well, but you know what you're pointing at the right analog stick
at least. Yeah, that's a little anyway, or they have like a
visible cursor the entire time. I would think I would think it would have
a visible cursor with a mouse. Yeah, that would take place, But
I don't redical Yeah, okay, anyway, I can't say for sure one
way or the other. I know it's I know it's a balancing thing because
it's a game all about getting better guns constantly. Yeah, but like something
about the way the default guns handle not quite there. Well, it's it's
the enemies take a lot of hits with that default weapon and even kind of
the more kind of basic weapons you start getting early on. Uh, it
just takes a few more shots than it feels like it should, like down
like the blue shotgun shell stuff. Shots are relatively slow. Yeah, there's
some travel on your own bullets and stuff like that. Yeah, as far
as like upgrades like faster shooting, speed or and it's all types of ship.
Dude, there must be like how many guns do you want to do
you want to shoot out? Do you want to shoot out the back at
the same time you shoot out the front, because there's there's upgrade for that.
I had that when I had food poison. Yeah, no, no,
that this gives you that like very multiple bullets per shot. Like all
there are the word bullet the yes, the yes and lowercase are that shoots
the word bullet out every time you pull the trigger is in that game as
a gun. But yeah, like the passive upgrades in that game, if
you and that's what you're is that what you're shooting for? I guess like
temp unattended. But if you're getting the right upgrades, like you are becoming
like you are emitting so much fucking hot death out of both ends that the
type of you can't even like that even the PC version of the game will
slow to a fucking crawl because you are just you are launching fucking straight up
murder on a NonStop basis. And the game cannot handle it, but the
burners being launched right back at you. Yeah, yes, yeah, all
right, so this is like the kind of a bullet hell is what I
saw it. Yeah, they're definitely pattering Joystick Shooter roguelike, you know,
in a similar vein to something like Binding of Isaac. You see you see
some Isaac in this game. For sure. You see a little bit of
Nuclear Throne in this game as well. Some people are trying to say like
it's like dark Souls, like, well, the roles, the roles.
One thing, like the tutorial straight up says like the first half of the
role is invincible. But then you're not, like, like that that's never
been done before. Jez. Yeah, and that's anyway. Yeah, they
have a lot of stuff that references other games in there as well. But
yeah, it's uh, it's well made. Yeah, it's got a good
look. Yeah I was, I was. Yeah, there's some really excellent
pixel art animation in that game and some some just the way things move an
anime is really impressive. A little bit of camera issues with boss fights where
they'll go off screen and talk about the co op for sure. Yeah,
the cops weird because the cop character is limited to the cultist, Like there's
one character that you can play when you're the cop character, and it's super
not obvious that like that is how you even start co op in the quick
look had a hard time, like wait a minute, what okay? And
it's local yeah, locally. Yeah that's kind of a bummer. Yeah,
it's not unexpected. But at the same time, yeah, it would be
great to see more games just get on the internet, because I don't have
people in my house that don't want to play Enter the Gungeon with or period,
but there are and people in the house that want to play Enter the
Gungeon with me. That's true. Is actually the right anyway the right answer
there you guys making any like real prior progress yet I've been on the third
floor a few times. Is that third floor of the I don't I don't
know how long the game is or how much it is five floors, but
is it just the five floors or is it like it is five floors?
But you should play it again because there's stuff, there's like a there are
persistent unlocks and persistent items that you find, like I didn't know if you
I didn't know if you did those five floors and then move on to like
another set of five floors and then it's and that's just that's just it.
Yeah. Interesting. So I haven't made it past the second floor yet,
so but yeah, there are there are items you need to collect to build
a weapon along the way that will then be the thing that you use to
finish it. For real, I think is that the Gungeon? Are you
building the Gungeon? No, you are in the gunge that can kill the
pass. I don't know what the name of it is, okay, because
you have to build it. So I thought it was more like Enter the
Dragon. No, it's it's it's more literal than that. When you open
up the shop and stuff like, they start talking about No, they throw
the guns down in the Gungeona Korean Abdul Jabbar is like in one of the
bosses. All right, yeah, okay, yeah, it's it's a weird.
It's a weird game. I don't know. Yeah, it's neat,
it's cool. I want to play more of it. Just dark Souls happened
and I had to put it down. But it's still happening, Brett.
I know that Gungeon will be around. Nice to have a roguelike to just
pop into whenever you feel like it, you know, like Necro Dancer was
that for me for quite a while. I started, yeah, something you
just like, I'm gonna just do a couple of runs and sit down for
twenty minutes after I get home before dinner. They did like three times at
the Rogue Legacy on different systems, Like that's great. It's just it's yeah,
it's good to have something you can just pop off for twenty minutes and
be done with. I kind of want to play Rogue Legacy again. It's
great. It's still great. I've gone through three times now, and it's
so much fun. Every time. I had a great time when I finishing
him. Every time I didn't do the like Superboss stuff, like you know
when you fight him again in that weird alternate world or whatever. But I
think I've beaten it three times. I've gotten to what is his name?
Is it Alexander? The name of the giant skeleton from the end of the
second world in that game. All right, wait, I forget which one
is the eyeball? Yeah, and get the second guys, I got I've
gotten too on both I got on PC NPS four, I got to that
giant skeleton thing at the end of the second world and just put it down
both times whatever reason. I don't know why that's my cutoff point. Huh.
It gets cool as you get all those different ruins and equipment pieces and
stuff, so you can decide, like, well I went two jumps and
then one dash and then you know all those different things you canna equip.
Yeah, totally all right. I think that's it for games I've been playing.
Anybody else got anything that Battle Born Open Beta? Right, Well,
I only played that one match on Friday, and I played one match on
Friday as well, which maybe it's running all week. We should maybe spend
more time with it. Worse, that game is almost out, so it
didn't necessarily inspire me to want to spend more time with it. Yeah,
in terms of what that thing is, I don't know. It's just this.
I don't I don't care about the MOBI is the same way you do.
But I definitely agree with you that there are things about that game in
terms of like situational awareness and stuff where there's like a lot happening, especially
you played the character with the big chain gun, where it's like, here's
a full third of the screen taken up with arm and gun congratulations. Yeah,
and everything just feels so claustrophobic, like if it's an FV thing.
It didn't help with that character is super slowly. Even the aiming seems to
be tuned to be very slurged, the damage she's putting out and stuff.
But yeah, I don't know, man, like that just I am more
of a fan of shooters than I am of MOBAs and that game. The
times I've played it, well it's been in development over the past year,
it has not made me want to engage further. But I keep coming back
to it and going like, well, like like I want to see what
they're doing, Like what it is about this that they're doing this instead of
making a you know, Borderland's three or you know or something else. What
is it that makes this hobby grade? What is it? Yes? Yeah?
Sure, yeah? Yes? What is it about this that was like
you know that it got announced with such fan fair and is it really just
getting its lunch completely eaten by stuff like Overwatch and and to some extent like
Paragon or something like Well, those are two interesting examples because like Overwatch is
a pure yeah, Overwatches, like all the way on one end and all
the way. Yeah. Right, and this game seems to be trying to
split the difference but not necessarily capitalizing on the strengths of either right, either
genre. Yeah, I mean even even something like a Monday Not Combat or
something seemed like just better at executing. Yeah, this style, I don't
know. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. Man Like,
like we were saying, people are going to keep trying to chase that Mobi
money, keep trying to chase some kind of esports money, that hobby grade
money. There's still a lot of it out there. But yeah, I
don't know. I'm chasing that me Tomo money. That's not a game.
Three more, I can't talk here and me Tomo Drop is a game.
So I got my pancake suit. John on John on Twitter says Dark Souls
three PC players unequip your shield before approaching the first spontfire to avoid the crash.
The desktop is becoming a thing with work rounds. Now, this is
actually happening. What are you running a Twitter search? Yeah? My Twitter
search is Dark Souls Crash. That's pretty good. E Partamente ten Crash No
Primari Bonfire dov Versal Final do Dark Souls three? All right, there you
have. I think that's Portuguese definitive word. I bet this. I'm probably
pronouncing all that right right, Sure, yeah I could. I can vet
Dark Souls three bugs to hit me after five minutes of play, first save
point broken, slash disabled, exit save, then causes PC crash. Seriously.
Yeah, it's happening, damn it. I'm gonna I'm gonna do it.
I'm gonna go to the I'm gonna go to the steam form. Put
your crashes in here, reads this forum thread. Title says nothing but heart's
in there game crashing. Mm hmm. Yeah. Let's see mine crash after
we use the first bonfire and crashed again at the same place. So I've
got a hybrid. Crashes up first bonfire, first bonfire for me, same
first bonfire, same for me. Crashed at first bonfire. That's like six
posts. First bonfire, same at first bonfire, crashed five times. Now
first bonfire got two first bonfire, crashed first bonfire twice. We'll see,
we will see. And yet they knew about this. Yeah, yeah,
it may just be one of those things that's really hard to Maybe they narrow
down exactly what's causing it or something. Yeah, I hope it's I hope
it's not a thing. Like I'm not trying to like, I mean,
obviously people need to know if this is happening, but like the game is
really good, and I hope that they would get it fixed. Yeah,
chuck, because people should play it. So how much time are you spending
with Matoma? I get my daily bonus every day, I get my game
tickets in my gold I gotta get my popularity and style levels up. I'd
think around there, I'd like to see who's active, play a little bit
of me. Tomo drops So I mean, I'm not playing like an hour
a day, but I'm loaded up for fifteen twenty minutes. You know,
a land bed and just reads answers answer a few things. It's charming and
weird in a tom adout you life Nintendo weird ask kind of way. What
kind of questions are they asking? Just like, oh God, it does
weird stuff, like it trolls you with one it says the question it asks
you is okay, imagine a field of flowers in your mind. How many
flowers do you see? And people will put stuff like seven or a billion
or infinite numbers, and then when it shows you other people's answers, like
Jeff, let's say you said seven, like how many flowers you see?
When it says it to me, it's like, oh uh, Jeff answered
the question how many people do you want to date in your life? And
he said seven? Well, no, that's not what they say. They
say like that flowers, the question about that flowers blooming question, that that
thing exists outside of me, Tomo. That question, what do you mean?
That question is a is a real life thing it, you know,
but it says the question about the flowers blooming, question about how many people
you want to why? And presented that way because it's something that like happens,
like that question exists outside of me, Tomo. They didn't just dream
it up for this, like the flowers blooming in your mind equates to a
number of people. You're just like a phrase or that's yeah, that that
exists. Oh well I've never heard that. And I saw a ton of
comments on stuff like you're a married man, why do you say you want
to date a million people? Yeah? Yeah, weird. That's that's because
that thing's fucking dumb. That's why. It's because me tomos it in a
good way. A fucking chump's game. Man, that thing is a scam.
It's a funny in three months when it's asking you like, what are
the last four digits? If you're Social Security card, like, you're gonna
see the fucking real aim of me Tomo. You're too distrustful of corporations,
dude, it's still there for fun. Are you more likely to buy Ego
brand wall? Yeah, it's not right. Like this thing seems like it
is fucking halfway to market research. They're not data mining. It's a fun
stuff. It's literally like, what what book or movie have you liked recently?
A fun discussion that they can then sell later. I don't think it's
that in the city is. I think it's just fun with silly mees.
When was the last time I felt deeply moved? And what moved me?
Also like this is this This game has taught me a couple of things.
One, it's like, as far as much as I like my friends,
I don't give a fuck what they think about any of this shit. It's
like, what do you think of when you think of the word ninja?
I don't fucking care. That's the Oh the voices are silly and fun,
and you can just tap through and it'll just like it'll roll these things out
like over and over again, about like all your friends answering the same questions
over and over again. It's like, here's what nine people I know,
at various levels of intimacy saying things about like the word ninja, what about
the fun? What about the me photos of the day? They're always silly.
I've just started making mine super stupid. Okay, I've just started,
like I like those, writing crip crazy over all of them and putting them
out like I don't know. I also kind of stopped playing it at one
point, deleted all my answers, and then like I saw people kind of
getting into it. This is last week. I saw people starting to get
into it a little deeper, and I was like, all right, well,
I'll give it another shot. So I started re aanswering those questions and
then going a little more, going a little more, and I was like,
Nope, fuck, this this thing's actually terrible. I guess what is
the harm? Even if they are like do you like Ego brand waffles?
Like, who gives a shit? It's not it's not like you know,
the pay me for that. I'm not I'm not giving that shit away for
free. That's my premit. I'm not gonna endorse fucking products for Nintendo.
They're not like taking a screenshot and putting it on the waffle box. Not
yet. They want you to do that. Yeah, you're doing it for
them. They can day to mind this shit out of me. I have
no problem. No, I know it's I'm well aware that you want to
interact with brands full time. I love brands. I know, I know
there are brands that I like. What's my favorite TV show right now?
Yeah, exactly what that is one of them? What's your favorite TV show
right now? That's the thing people talk about. That's a great thing that
you could sell the TV companies and say, hey, hey, you know
sixty percent of people said something that is not actually airing on television. The
chord cutting is real. Like, there's a lot of fucking real data that
they could get out of this stuff. But then what's the harm in that?
I just don't understand how that hurts you as a user. They should
be way more upfront about all of that stuff. If that's they're intend to
use it, if they're deliberately saying we are not going to use it this
way. They should be out there saying it not in some long terms of
service, right, just straight up say here's what we do with the data
we collect. Okay, my guy's naked and he's doing pirouettes and that's kind
of see it's funny. No, it's it's just one of those things where
like I can sit there and tap through it and it's like, this is
great, it's passing time. I don't care about any of this. And
then ask me a question. I go like, fuck you, who are
you to ask me that video game? I happily give it my answer.
That thing just seems to know is a giant, cold, calculating profit making
apparatus. They're a fun factor that exists to serve its shareholders and fun factory,
meaning like a Plato fun factory. Like they just ooze out star shaped
stuff all the time, and you're just like, this is like poop,
but it's like a star poop. Sorry, sorry, star Fox. Nintendo's
not your friend. I like Nintendo. What do you think about the word
grin Nina? That's stupid, that's stupid. Alright, make sure we can
agree on at least one on premier crash Sir Dark Souls three operate thirty minutes.
Desu oh dude trop cool says you say, sweet pass dude out objective.
Can we trans translate bonfire into like all languages? Yes, we should
make that a meme T shirt. Just crash it first bonfire in every language.
I got way too deep into this thread while you guys were arguing about
me. Tomo there, Okay, I'm on page eighteen now five times at
first bonfire, first and second bonfire crashed. The first bonfire, Uh,
I just went around the water and it didn't crash. From that shifty disc
chord full of Roy's boys friend is reporting a lot of crashes on a seven
eighty. Somebody, somebody in the thread hit on the same solution Vinnie found
of if you drop all the graphic settings to low, it doesn't crash.
When we had an happyf there was a weird like invisible wall like before that
bonfire that we tried walking into. It eventually let me through and then a
crash. I think that was actually just something like it wasn't invisible wall.
There was just if you saw there was a little lip on that yeah,
ground texture like it seems like I don't know if that was related to the
crash. It seems like that's that's maybe like a bad surface or I feel
like i've nah, I walked over that service before. Yeah, it felt
off to me for sure. Anyway, Okay, who the fuck knows?
Don't walk as ye, don't just walk around the fucking just don't use a
bonfire, like, what's wrong with you? Just don't get a seven hundred
series in video card. Just go buy a new video cards? What are
you doing? Man? Just don't save or Hei makes video cards. Just
don't save or heal your whole way through the game. Maybe your mother board
has sweet onboard graphics. You could just go with that. Never sit at
a bonfire, just no scope of that game. That's wrong with you.
Let's talk about news. There was next to no news this week. I
have two headlines headlines in quotes. All right, because here is the most
headline of headlines that I have. Remember Evolution Studios, makers of Drive Club,
Yes, and how Sony shut them down? Code Masters has swooped in
and not exactly like they didn't acquire the studio as such. More that,
like many of the people that are stuff together. It sounds like they have
that. It sounds like they have extended job offers to the majority of that
studio to remain a studio working on driving games. That's that's pretty great.
Yeah, which is cool because I mean, you know, like Drive Club
was what it was, but like that, a motor Storm a studio pumps.
They've did some some solid work over the years. People, Yeah,
when's the last when's the last motor Storm Apocalypse? Yeah? I think so
that sounds right. There was the one they had to delay because it was
right at the time of the tsunami. Was that Pacific wasn't motor Storm,
Pacific Rift wasn't Maybe the timing was pretty terrible. Storm Pacific RIM would be
awesome. It was Pacific, it wasn't Pacific Rim was thought was good.
And the other one, Yeah, there's motor Storm, then there was Apocalypse
I think, and then maybe yeah Pacific Rift is yeah, it's before apocalypse.
Okay, okay, So that was motor Storm RC is technically the last
they did four motor Storms. That was the Vida game. She's there was
like an RC. I don't know if they didn't. Yeah, that that's
our that's motor Storm RC for p S three and Vita. Did they develop
that? They did? They apparently did? I think gets played Arctic Edge
for psp PS two. Okay anyway, yeah, code code Masters shoring up
there development of Driving one. Viny Caravella reports new threat on Steam. Dark
Souls three Prepared to Crash edition is the title of it, and rough.
Yeah, we'll see developing stories. Stay tuned. Uh. Mike Hacking,
the director of Evolution, gave a couple of choice quotes that they were a
quote, very happy to be able to go forward and work on multiple platforms
and work on new IP. Yeah, that's probably I tried not multiple platform
I tried not to read too much into that statement, but but yeah,
hey they could make games for more than just Sony and more than just motor
Storm. The crash fix of setting your lighting quality to low is starting to
go around. Okay, all right, anyway, that's that's a bad solution,
but it is a solution. Yeah anyway, Yeah, it's kind of
a little feel good story there about. Yeah, that's cool that they stick
together. And also, I mean code Masters has been known for like really
really caring about racing games, so yeah, yeah, I will be interested
to see what that team does next. I wonder if they would go back
and try to make something that was similar to but not using the IP name
of motor Storm. I don't know, because there seemed to be a lot
of people that kind of wanted that. Yeah, but Drive Club is definitely
a more serious driving game than they had done in the past, right,
I mean, I can't speak. It's definitely not big motor Storm is flashy,
drifty, crazy arcady style racing, which is not in vogue these days.
But yeah, but it should be. Yeah type of driving game was
big. Who's got the Rush License? Warner Brothers, you should do something
with that. Who's got Blur Activism? Second? Yeah, that'd be Disney
Okay, Right, there was like that run of crazy, wacky over the
top there. Oh no, it's a lot of it's not more let's not
be crazy. Yeah. I thought it was a bad car combat game,
but but it's it's like wipeout style, Like it's not arena car combat Full
Out two. It's like Races had a lot of the a lot more of
the arena stuff. I think. I think I could be wrong. There's
flat out Yeah, I thought that's kind of a different thing. They had
the weird things like giant dart board that you would have launched the driver at.
Yeah. I kind of like that zy type stuff like that. I
was trying to find did didn't they have one other major ip that they worked
on besides motor Storm and Drive Club Evolution? Let me or did I make
that up? I can look? Let me look. Okay, I'm a
clock here. They did the w RC games, so yeah, they were
Yeah, they were acquired in O seven by Sony, so they had a
history prior to Sony, prior to motor Storm where they were doing the World
Rally Championship games. Okay, so they got some driving shops for sure.
Yeah, absolutely. All right, here is the only other headline that I
have. How do you guys feel about a potentially undiscovered neo geo game coming
to light? I think this is really exciting that was starting to go around
today and how it came about as we came in here. Exciting. Yeah,
like someone bought a board and thought they would like board. Geo fan
Brian Hargrove, according to this story from d Gadget, Yeah, bought an
unlabeled ROM for six hundred dollars at a Japanese auction. Yeah, and hoping
that I don't think it was. I don't know there was a Japanese auction.
I want to see you've got it somewhere weird, hungry or something.
I don't know. Anyway, this story says Japanese auction. But but six
hundred bucks seems like a lot for an unlabeled rom that might be full of
garbage. But if you're looking at that thing, you know it's like a
this is like a prototype neo geoboard. You know, it's something weird and
also like So that's the stuff with Maime is that so many arcade boards are
commonplace now to the people that have been looking at them that way for so
long that people in that scene, when they see something they don't recognize or
something that they know might be a prototype, they go like, well,
we need to get this so we can preserve it. So they're buying it
with that in mind. Okay, so he was he probably had an expectation
that he would easily make that back. No, no, no, is
he one of the people in this scene. Okay, never mind, he's
not just a middleman, no no, So so it seems like he picked
this thing up, and certain aspects of the program code were stored on like
s RAM cards that go bad, so it had like literal like watch batteries
that we're dead and so like sound and like the fonts and stuff like that
were on these cards. Man. But anyway, so he started looking into
it, and it looked like the ram IDs and stuff like all the neo
geo stuff has kind of a set a set id and itched mashed up with
like Voltage Fighter, gau Kaiser or something, and so he was like,
oh, well, maybe this is a gau Kaiser prototype, I don't know
whatever, and kind of threw it aside and then started sucking around with it
a little bit more, got it to boot up, noticed a menu that
he had not seen in any other things before. Doug a little deeper and
suddenly found a fighting game like playable missing a lot of stuff because these these
other rams are not there right to provide sound and fonts and all that sort
of ship, but was able to get it to boot. And they don't
know the name of it because the fonts are gone or something, or maybe
there's just no title screen in the program at all. Do you know if
do you know if that means the actual text is gone or just the fonts
that the text actually is that if they find a replacement, so they have
they have hacked a font onto it and at least got like menus and at
least got like character names and stuff like that. So character names show up
you when you pick character. You pick like basically chaotic, neutral or good.
Yeah, like people like alignments. This story is super weird. The
story is basically dragon. Yeah. The story is speculating that this actually was
like the an early form of a D and D fighting game or something.
It could be just stretch. I don't know that s in K or a
DK or anybody that would have been I don't know that they would have had
that license. Yeah, was a stranger too, like playing around with aspects
of other people's IP back then that maybe they were fiddling with that stuff.
Yeah without the license. Yeah, everything that I thought I wasn't like really
saying D and D to me, other than the alignment. But yeah,
there's footage of it running out right now. So it looks neat, it
looks like a prototype, it looks unfinished, and there's no life bars or
anything like that, because that all that stuff got lost in the dust.
That's I think I think they. I saw some mother footage that did have
send timer up on top of it. Looked like super placeholders. Thus,
I don't know if they just so maybe they're fobbling it together or any anyway
in some form. So this then got sent on to hey Is David Heywood,
who's part of the main team, and then it is making its way
into main Oh wow, so it'll be out there, and then it means
that people can fuck with it. Jeesus at some point that's unexpected, and
they're trying to get this thing out there for people to see it so that
eventually someone who worked on it can step forward. Here's what this was because
they don't know. Yah, that's it's wild to not even have a name
for this thing. Damn. I think it's just sitting here on this rom
board for the last twenty six years. Yeah, that's that's super exciting stuff
like that turns up. That's cool. Yeah for sure. Sorry, I'm
just giving this story to see if there's any other kind of pertinent details.
Didn't didn't SMK get sued by Capcom over all the fighting games that got sued
by somebody, right, probably I don't. I don't know. I'd swear
there was like that sounds I swear some litigation took place over the street Fighter
clones. No, that was that was data each with Fighter's history, cap
on with them over Fighter's history, because like the one guy had like a
CD spin projectile move that looked just like a sonic boom And was that a
near ger game? No, that was just an ourcasecade They came to snass
eventually gotten that stuff next time. And it's so I actually saw some of
the tapes that got presented as evidence in that thing where it was Capcom making
these tapes comparing Wow, comparing elements. Man, I want to see those
tapes. Two elements of Fighter's history. I'll talk to I'll i'll see if
those still exists. Do you get a line on those? I know who
to ask. Oh, yeah, I know who to ask about it.
So I'll check the man you try, don't check you were there for this.
I recently became aware that I was in possession of something like an old
prototype piece of software that somebody very badly wanted to get their hands on.
Yeah, and I had no idea i'd had any value whatsoever. I don't
remember what this is. I'll tell you later, Okay, I don't even
know if I was supposed to say, it's not even a big deal,
right, yes, yeah, it seemed like any kind of a big deal.
It was just like a little one off CDR I have from the ran
on a PS two D bug right for something dumb. Yeah, I see
there's a little event that thing I didn't even know existed. I had not
heard of it. I hadn't thought about it in ten years or something,
And and he happened to mention they was looking for it, and I was
like, oh, I've got that in a CD wall out of my house,
and you're like he was like, holy shit. Yeah, game preservation
is weird. There's a lot of stuff floating around out there, Yeah,
that somebody wants to get their hands on at all times. Yeah, for
sure. I've got a weird like prototype version of what Phantom Breaker. I
think that didn't get brought out to the US here. Yeah, like yeah,
like it was a completely mocked up box like art and everything, like
he's put it out at a printer and uh yeah, It's just the type
of thing you get your hands on when you work in the press and end
up with like early versions of games that don't necessarily come out in that five
games with like a claim license at like a claim business information on it that
then got published by like THHQ, Like what juiced the Driving game? Yeah,
that they were going to publish that. I think. I think THQ
eventually published Choose Shoosed Juice. But like, who cares? Because A it's
juiced and many of the differences. It says a claim on it. Somebody
cares? Yeah, I mean no, I mean I promise you it's worth
it's you know, it's in safe hands. Yes, but yes, I
should. I should make a copy of that disc because it's a ten year
old CDR you definitely, or DVDR on I guess it would have been a
DVD. I don't even seen it such it was. It was, it
was, it was. It was a tiny little demo. Yeah, just
check on that. All right, let's move on to the emails. Then
that was it for news. Titan faul to us? Is that new?
I mean, I mean, but like they put out a teaser, that's
all they'll say more. I mean, like they they they're gonna say Titan
Fall two. It's happening. But I mean also they have talked about it,
like respond has talked about titan Fall two so in public before. Yes,
but the only the actual new the actual new information here is that they're
calling it titan Fall two because they Zampella was kind of wishy washy on if
that was gonna be the title, that swear they had used those ones,
and it is PS four, Xbox one, and PC, which they will
be multiplatform before. But this is at least them nailing down platform swords.
Yeah, that the teaser has like a sword going into the ground at one
point from a human hand or wait a minute, all right, still going
that direction with the mets. It's still no, these are not the you
see the mech kind of stomp up and it is not a Mecca looking like
lithe little style. It's like, I don't know if you get to have
it both ways. Yeah, I don't know. You've either got your your
giant anime ninja robots or you're walking tanks. I'm not sure. Yeah,
I was kind of thinking, wouldn't it might be neat if this game was
like, you know, Titans in the traditional sense versus Yeah, like Gundam,
dude, just to straight up the East meat West. Yeah, like
you're like new Faction enters the scene, here coming, here, come the
Mecca out of Japan against the fucking bipedal tanks the Western military industrial complex.
But I just don't okay, I mean you could balance that. I just
don't played if it'd be fun a good specific rim game. Yeah cool,
okay, keep saying sure, Yeah, all right, I'm on board.
I am fully on board with that. Emails. Yeah, I've got a
bunch of emails here, let's go through some. The first one comes in
from Nathan in Ottawa. It's definitely my favorite email of the week, so
I just decided to start the email of the mail of the email of the
week. Thanks Nathan. Video Games CEO Battle Royale. If we threw the
top video game company CEOs into a cage, who would emerge victorious? I
think my money would be on Bobby Kodick, as he strikes me as a
guy who was willing to pull hair and kick groins to win at all costs.
Brass nuts Strouss's Elnick seems like he could cause some damage to I think,
Yeah, that's a good that's a good dark horse pull. Yeah,
that is I would just maybe not strauss Elic. But then what motherfucker is
Reggie Possibility? Oh yeah, of course he's a big dude. Yeah,
Reggie is an imposing figure. He would definitely get in there and do some
just some. Is he a CEO or is he the president? He's the
president of Okay, you think we'll counting him for this purpose? Or figure
heads? Anybody who him see as a press conference? I think yeah,
belongs in this category. Does Jack Tretton still count a fuck? Man?
Phil Harrison? Because Jack Tretton Tretton just pulls out the snub nose. It
just does everybody and just like like all right, you know I'm just like
yeah, yeah, sure, oh man, now I now I really want
my my Dave Lang. Oh I don't know, I've never have you ever
seen Dave Lang fight Jeff? I feel like you must have it? No,
No, I guess I guess Lang does just belong in this discussion,
doesn't he. Yeah, he's a video game video games. He has a
lot of energy, and he's a large man. It's true he can take
punishment and keep going. I've seen that scares babies. I've seen that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, he made your baby christ several times. Yeah,
yeah, I could see. I bet, I bet Reggie can just
channel like a rage and a fury. Yeah, that such that the fists
don't stop flying Canadian pizza hut fury sure, just puts his head down and
charges. Just just just take that, take him down to the mat.
No. But if you just look the guy with the beard in the background,
ducks it right at the moment, right, just the right moment,
and you can get Reggie down. It's not a problem. You just gotta
ten point timing. Yeah. Trying to think who else belongs in this in
this cage match, I think Bobby Kodak would be we would fight dirty.
He would he would have like a knife that got dipped in gasoline or something.
They would just be like motherfucker's fully with Nathan here on that one code
will win at all costs. Uh m hm. Any other candidates moving on.
Homer would probably be barefoot, right, Yeah, there's the barefoot guys.
They're barefoot because they like to kick. Yeah, that's kicking the octagon.
So that's because that could be pretty serious. I feel like Phil Spencer
would want a good, clean match, you know, like some some sweet
science ye, come out fighting, but the belt type stuff Codex is like
dipping his paper wrists in the shards of glass. Yeah. And then,
for whatever reason, I feel like Eve Gamo shows up and throws smoke bombs.
I don't know why. Maybe maybe and maybe yeah, maybe some throwing
knives or something. I don't know. I would love to see this happens,
burst out of a pile of hay. Somebody makes somebody make video game
CEO the Fighting game. Don't don't actually? Oh come on, well,
all right, all right? Jared and Sacramento back in seventh grade and my
peers were split into two factions, arguing endlessly about whether the Genesis was better
than the Supers. Except there was one weird kid who tried to convince everyone
his Turbographic sixteen was the best of all, always won because he could plays
and only one Yeah, how as he could play Bond games. Everyone laughed
at him. Ye was bonked. The lamest console mascot ever? Or have
there been even lamer mascots that have mercifully been for? I mean, like,
is a great name, Yeah is a really good name, Balk is
a pretty good character killing motherfuckers with but yeah, and a good mascot.
Yeah, he ate those geniant pieces of meat. He's probably just in terms
of just like a Matt like. Look, I love Alex Kidd. Let's
not be crazy though, like Bonk is a like more identifiable mascot character than
Alex Kid. I never have been. I don't know that Alex he had
ever ascended to mascot status for the Master System yea, I guess. But
in terms of sixteen bit Caveman, I give the edge to Joe and Max.
Joe whack Mac. Maybe I mean them as a tandem team. I
mean they're both in the title. Doesn't count the two of them that it
was a better game. No, Those dinosaur bosses were huge. Yeah,
and for Super Nintendo Joe and macan Bonk had pretty big bosses, sue.
Yeah, and his head was large. I like the way his mouth got
all he got he got all scary looking when he get us. Yeah.
Yeah, he got all creepy looking when he would eat the meat. Yeah.
I likes that. And then air Zonk came out, look came along,
Yeah, related a shooter like that's a punk rock bunk lightning bold choice.
Balk's okay, nothing wrong with Bonk, but but yes, there was
always one one kid who had the Turbographics in my circle of friends. That
kid was also the one w c W fan, so he was just like
across the board, just like what shut up? Stop talking. I yes,
stings cool whatever, man, shut up. I try to use Simpsons
references as sparingly as possible, but it very much feels like Springfield Shelbyville situation
of just like that's the guy who likes all the weird stuff, yea,
all the stuff from the other town. The people that I've known that have
liked the Turbographics sixteen still claim that that was the best console. It's awesome.
I don't think I met anyone that was like a Turbographics kid anyway,
it is awesome. I remember when I bought mine from the flea market for
not a lot of money because it was the Turbographics and no one wanted one
back then. I remember thinking, well, the price was right, because
this is kind of terrible. But when you look at the full library and
you look at everything that came out in Japan, when you take that into
account, like it's it's a formidable console. Like there's a lot of cool
shit on there, especially like stuff that didn't really appear anywhere else. I
think it was cooler, yeah, for me to own as I was a
little bit older and it could could afford that stuff. But like as a
kid, I remember making that decision. It's like, fuck, do I
go to this or a genesis? I would just rent it from video library
for like three days. Yeah, man, I never had anywhere I could
rent it from. All I had where screenshots. You just look at that
thing and go like it has one controller port, Like, come on,
what is this thing? Like? It looks barely better than Nintendo games.
I really wanted to play Bonk though. Yeah, Bonk was pretty cool.
You want to talk about a lame mascot, Keith Courage? Oh yeah,
pretty bonk manh yeah, Keith Courage send him back to the Apha zone.
That guy, Okay, Joe from New York Domains. It's the subject of
this email. You guys talking keep I'm sorry you guys keep talking about domains
and stuff like a dot cool and dot bike, but you're you're neglecting the
dot vodka domain. My friend is the proud owner of butt Chugs dot Vodka,
and I think you guys should consider a dot vodka domain. Sadly vape
dot vodka is already taken. Damn it. I didn't know there was a
dot vodka. Yeah, there's a lot of there's I think there's like a
dot sexy now I don't know, Yes, there is. Somebody pointed meat
the giant bomb dot sexy recently. Don't go there, Yeah, don't go
there. Actually, are there all all manners of alcohol in top level domain
form? I don't know. Somebody who there are a ton of top level
domains. Yeah, somebody's weird. Somebody was, was it Danny? Somebody
was telling me recently that registering domains on different ones costs like wildly different amounts,
because like you will have a company that like buys that entire thing,
so you deal with them to register it, just like with certain countries if
it's one of the country assigned domains, like they can go like, oh
well, if you want to register one here in our cool, awesome top
level domain, then you got to pay us a ton writing I can't remember
what he said, was the super expensive one that xxx is actually really expensive?
Yes? What do they got f one? Dot? Cool? Yeah?
Right, I want to say he said cool. It was like relatively
inexpensive. Yeah, probably it's four letters, that's yea. The longer it
is, I bet the worst it is. Also also, top level domains
over three letters are stupid. Top level domains that are full words I think
are insane. Yea. I say that as the owner of Jeff dot Zone.
Zone's pretty good, though. The zone's all right? Uh, all
right. Well, keeping with the theme of vape dot Vodka, here's an
email from Chris and Phoenix who says vaping alcohol isn't great. Agreed. I
can't imagine. I was listening to last week's podcast and had a relevant story
to your conversation on vaping alcohol. In the early two thousands, smoking hookahs
was all the rage in my college town, and at one point I had
my own my roommate who called himself Dizzle, and I would smoke it out
on our balcony. Yeah, right, what do you think it was?
Actually, do you think it was? Dave? Dave is absolutely the first
thing I was going to say. He explains what hook it is, which
people probably already know. He describes it as a freestanding of the water.
I don't know whatever, hooka all right, Fine, One day he came
home and this is Dizzle he's talking about. One day he came home and
told me that he heard a guy. I heard about a guy that put
a handle of vodka in the base instead of water and was able to get
super drunk while smoking without anything better to do. That night, we drained
a bottle of smeared off into the base and started puffing away. You have
no idea how much you're in taking, right, fuck, then sounds dumb.
What followed I can only describe as feeling the worst type of sick and
drunk I have ever felt. Within five minutes, I started getting dizzy and
felt sick to my stomach. Every movement was labored, and I couldn't get
up from the chair without massive effort. Dizzle appeared to be suffering the same
effects, but my vision was already blurring, so I couldn't really tell.
I wanted to give up the experiment, but Dizzle said, there is no
way we're going to waste a full handle of vodka, and he proceeded to
drunkenly disassemble the base from the tower and to drink the smoke and ash laden
vodka from the bottom of the hookah. He then seems like something a dizzel
would do yep as a dizzle do. He then lend it lead over our
third storty balcony and started throwing up for what seemed like a solid four or
five minutes before collapsing onto the balcony. He goes on and on talking about
how he didn't have a hangover the next morning. So there you go,
because he was dead. There's your endorsement of hailing or none endorsement. Yeah,
wow, yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I'll do that.
There's just there's just no need for that. I agree, all right.
Uh, there's an email from Mike. It's about Exhibit kind of. On
a recent episode of NPR's Wait Don't Tell I'm sorry Wait Wait Don't Tell Me
is the name of the show, actor Andre Royo claimed that he pimped his
ride by keeping beta fish in said ride. He declined to give any more
specifics, such as how many Beta fish, but it got me thinking,
how would the Giant Bomb crew pimp their rides? Would Dan have Exhibit install
a crunch wrap Supreme Press. Would Jeff's car show the p S three's XMB
on the dashboard for for turning on the world is dying to know. Hey,
it would be autonomous so that I could sleep. Okay, Yeah,
it would be a car that I don't have to drive. I don't think
you're gonna have to pimp a ride to get that, though, they'd be
pretty pimped. That's all that's on the way. Yeah, it's got an
updated I put put a fucking bed in it. Update update the firmware in
your Tesla. You can have that right now. Mine would just be Axel
from Twisted Metal too, just the two big wheels, except for not actually
having to attach my arms to the waist. Wait, you would be in
the I'm just in the middle and I a cool shock wave thing. Okay,
except for I don't have to like rip my arms out in the ending.
Yeah. Was it room for passengers? And where did they say?
I gotta have like a little sidecar. Yeah, that's true, like mister
Graham. Huh of all of the Twisted vehicles? Yes, sweet tooth head
on top of a cop car right, uh with a semi truck bed like
dark side Yeah, taxi doors like yellow jacket mm hmm. Man twist smells
great club kid from three Kid. Yeah, and Rob Zombie is in the
sidecar. Excellent. Okay, now we're talking. Yeah, I like that
idea directing a horror movie inside a submarine from critical depth. All right,
this idea is coming together. Yeah, I like it. I'm on board
again. I have Rob Zombie's brother, that's all you have, and it's
just like, wai Are they actually related? Yeah? We were talking right
beforehand. I don't know if he took the Zombie's surname, but it is
Rob Zombie's brother is the when World's Collide guy. That sounds been stuck in
my head. All okay, I've been fighting the urts so bad. What
else said? It's Supernova Goes Pop and that Dudley Boys song. I was
flipping through stations on my drive in this morning and heard the flow Ride,
a song from Do You Have Any Idea? How many times I heard that
and Dallas. It made me want to die bump when it came off when
I flip and I and I didn't turn it off like I it was fully
in my control, but I was like, no, I need to see
this through because fuck them, because fuck me. Fuck this. It's bad
that we had the discussion in Dallas that that was probably one of the better
WrestleMania themes of recent years, and it was that flow Rider song back in
my day when Limp Biscuit performed crack Addict, you had good WrestleMania music.
It's appropriate material. W w's favorite band in the whole world is how they
announced Limp Biscuit twice. Wow, that's still the case. Who is it
this year? This year is flow Rider? Yeah? I was that Welcome
to My House song. No, no, no, no, like who
is the musical act? And now they had some American beautiful Okay, that's
right. I had never heard of them. Yeah, all right, This
email comes in from John Lennon. Okay, it says Skyrim came out nearly
five years ago. What the fuck? That sounds about right? It's true
John's he came back just to say, yeah, yeah, what the fuck?
Actually, yeah that No, that sounds about right. Shouldn't feel like
that long ago. Yeah, they've shipped a game since then, and we're
like, what the hell? I guess it's instead of what the fuck?
Yeah? Yeah? What too dirty for you? No? I just I
don't I don't know how to respond to this. I don't know. Passage
of time, man, Yeah, it happens. It continues to have it's
alarming. Just imagine, like when you listen to this podcast, it will
have been recorded in the past. Imagine I know the entire world. We'll
be talking about that Dark Souls crash. By the time people hear this,
Yeah, we were there at the beginning, the crash will have been fixed.
It's already solved. People are already out there going like I just said
this to low people. Just get around. People are out there ripping out
their seven seventies, that's right, burning them in the streets. That's why
this podcast needs to be delivered to people in a more rapid fashion. Yes,
I suppose that's true, to get the word out. Yes, right,
all right, Eric from Louisville, Kentucky. That's a question. How
do you guys say Louisville, Louisville, Louisville slug believe it is. No
one says Louisville. Do you say Louisville. No, I can say Louisville,
right, Louisville, Louisville Ville at the end, like vull, like
louis the show louis I don't think that's Louisville. I don't think natives would
accept that. I've heard from accept the Louisville, I might be wrong,
or the Loelville that Jason saying what la la la lu la lu uh?
Eric right? So in for some reason, I now own an FC one
three d O and a Jaguar. Fucking a man, is anything on a
bad road worth a ship? People like that Alien Predator game I've done,
no I some people swear by that. Yeah, somebody done a cursory search
and found several recommendations. But I wanted to hear if you had any personal
insight into these misguided indoor pearly time monstrosities. I remember Jeff calling Alien Versus
Predator fucking dumb. I think it's fucking dumb, but can't recall much three
Do Slash Jag discussion on the bomb Cast. I guess there's a reason for
that. I guess Tempest was pretty good on the Jag. Yeah, Star
Control two on the three DO Plumbers don't wear ties? That's a seminalfinitely hunt
that one down. Neuro Dancer on the three DO Classic. What was that?
It was like a fucking was it? Like a stripping game is what
it was? And like a sci fi you know, what was that thunder
in Paradise game on that's three that's was that three d O r CDI I
think that might have been a CDI it was CDO. Yeah, yeah,
it totally was. We'd played it on the stream. Yeah. Yeah.
That Demolition Man game is silly. Simon's Simonson's Bleach is over and over again.
It's not a good game. But Way of the Warrior is kind of
amusing. Oh yeah, yeah, that's a must own. Yeah, I
feel like there's that's that's that. You could say that a lot a lot
of games on those platforms. They're not good games, but they're like road
Rash, Consuming Ninja, the fighting game for did you Fight the Life are
come out? I think for Jaguar, did that goes to the two fighting?
Oh no, brutal pause of Fury I think came out of Jaguar also
worked. They hyping up Fight to Life is like some kind of frutual fighter
the Treditor. They Fight to Life was like a real, a real fighting
game, and it was like, yeah, okay, returned Fire. I
think they came out on other stuff though, Yeah, yeah, I Returned
Fire on three DIO. It's pretty good though. That's a good version.
It's the Way of the Warrior. The one with the Scottish guy that farted
fire. Was that tattoo assassins? No, that was Way of the Warrior,
that's where they were air account Jake, Jake, Uh, Sammy Showdown
version that's pretty good. That's a good version of that. Campus like a
three button controller. Yeah but wait was that three dio that was on video?
So weird? But yeah, like road Rash had like uh, you
know the FMV Yeah, need for Speed? Has the FMV guy fucking taunting
you about driving? Was twisted? An okay game show game? I don't
remember, I mean I don't remember. No, but mad Dog McCrea,
Yeah, you need a light gun for that stuff though, playing it with
the curb the game pad has really rotten. I think they rereleased mad Dog
McCrea like on PlayStation three. Yeah, I think you're pretty recently, like
move support. Like I went out and I bought the mad Dog McCrea Avatar
and ready at any time, I could be mad Dog. I wanted to
on the Jaguar though what like I don't know, Yeah, I don't know.
A lot of the Crescent Tampas is good. Trevor mcfurr is really the
Keith Courage of the Jaguar launch cyber Morph. Cyber Morph, it's a decent
version of Doom or no Wolf and Stein. Doom was good on thirty two
X. Right, that's a yeah, I mean, you know for versions
of doing Yeah, I mean yeah, you know, yeah totally at the
time. Sure, yeah, it's not gonna do much. Yeah, it
wouldn't. It would be silly to get that version now. Yeah, I
just I just I don't know a lot of Jaguar games, like Alien the
First Predator is probably worth looking at just because it didn't exist anywhere else.
So if you own a Jaguar, you might as well own that club Drive.
That's a bad game. But they kind of were a lot of Jaguar
games, right, didn't that think? Didn't that thing kind of just die
on the vine? There was weird stuff that came like, you know,
NBA Jam came out for the Jaguar, Like there's there's was some third party
support, but there was a big homebrew scene. Like they really used to
be a like a jag Fest that I believe it was in Milwaukee. Was
this turned into a different convention? Was this like years after the fact?
Yeah, okay, yeah, like after people could burn CDs for it.
I think because it came out with four box or there's like a bunch of
weird stuff you can do because it came out in what ninety two three,
and we're on there lay four games stuff like they came out of ninety five.
As I was scrolling back here through the list to yes, of course,
white Men Can't Jump? Ninja the Classic Iron Soldier was I think somewhat
well regarded. It was like a version of Theme Park. Oh man,
I forgot to read his ps ps. I got the three dio at a
thrift shop for ten dollars because they thought it was a VCR. It's a
pretty good deal. Do you play back zool two? Maybe that's Do you
play as Woody Harrelson and White Men Can't Jump? You know? I don't
know because I can't think of any instance of a playable Woody Harrelson in video
game history. Who who was was Wesley Snip Snipes and Hareldson, And I
think Rose Snipes well represented in video games. Oh yes, yes, of
course. I don't think Harrolson's ever been in one MM ed TV The game
is there a money train game? We have to squirt the gas under the
thing. They're worried there was gonna leave the copycat crimes. When Money Train
came out, there's this big thing about like they're gonna set people on fire
at subway stations because of your damn movie. I remember Last Boy Scout.
Everyone was worried about people laying in the middle of the road and letting cars
drive by them. I did that. You did that, yeah, because
of the Last Boy Scout. No exciting times. But I also didn't like
run on a football field with a pistol because of the Last Boy Scout.
Though, that's way cooler than rulying down to the middle of a road.
There's there's still time. That's a great movie. The door is still open.
Congratulations on your purchases, Eric, Yeah, those are good price.
May they treat you will. Jesse from Dallas wants us wants us to talk
about those crazy Metager solid Ford commercials there. Yeah, I'm into it.
That's I thought they were pretty amusing. It's another case of like, you
know, people kind of alluding to something and getting people's hopes up and then
it turning out to be just something fucked up like this did anything ever?
Like there was like hater on David Hayter on Twitter. It was like posting
like like oh me and the Colonel back, you know, like implaning new
dialogue was being recorded. I didn't see any of that. I just saw
the videos. Someone what the hell is this? Yeah, and I was
like, unlisted forward YouTube channel. They've They've done a They've done a handful
of other things that are not that you know, like like other overdub series
or whatever it is. Yeah, yeah, there's Captain Planet one. I
think. Yeah, I kind of don't get why I like these because I'm
just as likely to fucking hate it when I feel like somebody's pandering to my
nostalgia. You know, they're all done. Maybe that's what it is.
Distinction is just the dumb jokes. I can bring up faultoning in Campbell being
like, oh, that's not around til we have eighty four. Yeah.
Yeah, Like when he first said Fulton, I actually got mad because it
was just like, man, fuck that this is mental gear solid don't And
then yeah, because it's because you think it's some clueless marketing guy who just
looked at the most recent game and was like, oh, we'll put that
in there. Yeah. They totally was like Okay, they were aware.
I think that there's you know, there's it's possible to like have ads that
come across with a certain amount of authenticity where you can tell that at some
point someone at least gave a fuck. Yeah, well they had to have
given a fun to get those guys in the studio, yeah, or get
them to record the lines where yeah, yeah, and I think that did
it right. That's probably why that stuff works is because you can look at
that and go like, well, someone at some level like at least new
to do, like if they were going to do this, to do it
sort of right? Yeah, just hear like Psychomantis talk about power steering or
whatever. It's there's a great novelty there. Yes, yes, that was
pretty amusing. Uh. Speaking of medical here, John has a simple question.
Do you think Kojima will have any big announcements at E three or even
B at E three for that matter. I bet he'll be there, but
nothing of substance except at most like a title maybe. Yeah. I don't
know. That seems like so early, Like the sounds like a TGS level
of a now, like like if they're gonna do name or something very light.
Oh, I think that's something they could say for TGS name a TGS
maybe some footage or a teaser at next year or something. Yeah, you
think, I think, I think it might even be too early for that.
But I but I think if it would happen, I don't. I
don't know, man, the one adding him out at E three for the
press conference, Like if you look at what they did last year with the
press conference, like Sony seems to be in this mindset of fucking let's have
a like, let's put some together some bangers. Putting walking Kojima out on
that stage fits the bill on that, that's for sure, But like,
I don't know what you have him and him announced at the same time,
Like all of their big announcements last year were things that are like years off
totally. And this is the same way. You know, yeah, yeah,
but you know, if they if they can keep that string together,
if signing these deals and you know, then every year they've gotten new people
to walk out there and they're look at us, yeah, and then eventually
they make good on it and everyone's forgotten by then that like maybe they didn't
want Shin move that bad anyway, I have to assume they've got a pretty
good idea of what they're working on at this point, right, yeah,
I would think. I mean it's been it's only been what five four or
five months since he officially got out of Oh yeah, but but I mean,
you know, they're talking about staffing up with some of the other people
that got out of there, Like, you know, they wouldn't be hiring
up in that way if they weren't kind of hitting the ground running to some
extent. So I have to imagine that they've got an idea and they're moving
I don't think. I don't know that Sony would have signed something if there
wasn't already some kind of idea and probably not gonna write again like that a
blank check and just be like, ah, you can just sit around until
you figured out, right, Yeah, but it might be like, Okay,
you're gonna make your whatever this game is now, sit around until you
figured out, you know, Like I still don't think this games out anytime
soon, but they could just as easily. There could be just a line
in the beginning of the press conference spell like we're excited to have as part
of the PlayStation family, like cut to cut to a shot of him in
the front row or whatever. And just like that's it. Oh sure,
Yeah, we're like a trip to his studio as they build it out or
something. Right, it's just him doing c QC on someone. We're still
were still every game we go to LA and just shoot guns and practice fucking
rooms just in case we're ready, just if anything happens in Japan, just
we're ready. Yeah. Uh, let's see. Here's an email from Kurts,
who looks very short, basically asked if you so off should Poor Child
of Eden to VR. I'd ever played it, but you all sounded like
you were pretty into it consistently comparing it to RES. You know there's some
pedigree there as well. Yeah, I don't feel like it quite no state
power. I don't know if it was just time and place thing or what.
Yeah. Well, also, I mean this, the neither control method
felt right in that game, like the like the Connect stuff CONECTE. Some
people got way into that Connect stuff, like saying that it really made them
cry because it made them feel like their reviews talking about crying because Connect made
it so emotionally whatever from Yeah, like Child of Eden's neat, but it's
no RES. Just stylistically, I just don't think it's as it's not at
my alley the same way resus, so that that's kind of it. But
yeah, I think that that's probably something that's worth revisiting, you know,
with with a different control method and the r might be a way to go.
Yeah, well see, I bet they'll see how res does and then
sure, you know, hey, we're doing this one now. Yeah,
that would make sense. I don't think that game ever came out on PC,
did it? No? I don't think sense. I think it could
be a good excuse. Spencer from Sydney, Australia Jason, Yo, it's
got a question for mostly you. I had to look up a Child of
Eden because I thought you guys were talking about Child of Lightning. Yes,
that wouldn't have made much sense, I guess, yeah, all right,
what you got. I've been trying to climb out of Bronze for the past
week, yet nearly half my matches end and a rage quit where I get
no points from my win and they lose none with no punishment. Does Capcom
really expect me to report all these players myself? Here's a short list of
all the things that street fighters. Street Fighter five still doesn't have rage quit
penalties, working profile statistics they all say zero percent, even on the top
rated profiles. Proper artwork, he says, working lobbies, although I know
you've said the lobby stuff has been lobby seems okay, Okay, There's a
few anomalies here, characters select screen and ranked matches. Uh, finished you
that's not there. That's deliberately not their mean yeah, and finished UI that
wasn't just slapped together with a times new Roman font. Okay, all because
Capcom wanted to rush the game out for the beginning of the pro tour.
How can anyone justify this being a sixty dollars release considering KI is free and
has everything Street Fighter five has and more. Compare this to the polish of
the menus and Street Fighter four and you can see the quality difference instantly,
totally. But the last, because they are Capcom, all is forgiven and
Street Fighters still rules the FGC in the unfinished ass state it's been left in
yea. But also, the game's really fucking good. I mean, k
has been out out for three seasons now, and if you remember, they
don't have a fucking story mode. You know when when they were first released,
they had a handful of characters. There was a lot of stuff that
was missing from that. Well, wasn't Yeah that that game was free.
I'm just all I mean to get all the characters. It was like not
that much. Yeah, it was not that much. And I don't want
to make it comparison to that. But when he's throwing it in there,
like you know, a lot of fighting games, they're missing out on a
lot of that single player content. And I'm not trying to justify it,
like I thought, if it's a broken ass like there were a lot of
broken promises, let's say that. And even I, as someone who does
not get into the single player stuff, felt like I was getting shafted.
Yeah, that was too high of a price for that kind of game.
Rush. The quote I saw going around recently, I don't know if it
was from Oto or somebody else, something effective like we underestimated how much people
would care about single player content, yeah, or something like that. I'm
sure that's part of it. You know that they didn't put that much of
a focus on you know, whether or not they had a smaller team or
whatever. They just their priorities were something else. I think that they spent
too much time looking at the scene and not enough time looking at the average
player, which which is you know, flying in the face of what they've
done traditionally. Yeah, you know they've kind of ignored the scene and you
know, those people are the most vocal sometimes, and I think that that
probably would have been a smart well whatever, who knows if if the money
would have made sense, But on some level, isn't it like a smarter
way to go, like focus on the bulk of the people that will buy
the game. And I guess and know that this core audience will probably come
on as long as the game is tight. That's the trictest core audience will
come along, no matter what. So we're talking core audience, and you
know it's probably not a lot of people. Yeah, I mean street Fighter,
you know, it's such a fucking household name name that you know they're
expecting, you know, hundreds of thousands of sales. But yeah, they
neglected a lot of those people. So yeah, it's getting a bad rap
right now for sure. I Mean all I kind of say, it's like,
I've really enjoyed playing the game still, you know, I like doing
some of the the trial stuff. Now it's it's what I hate to just
like reiterate a quote, but you know, they're running a marathon or whatever.
I don't know it's fair to speak, but that game is going to
be iterated on. Eventually, it's going to be you know what we're looking
for, I guess, but right now, shit, shit, yeah,
we were expecting a lot more. Yeah, Jeff, I thought I saw
and you mentioned when your tumbler recently that you've kind of moved on. I
just yeah, I mean, you know, I haven't. You know,
I went and reviewed the Division, and you know, I've been playing all
this other stuff, track Mania Turbo and just want to break the idea.
Yeah, like reviewed, Well, I was like two weeks ago that I
finished quant a break, but three three now I think actually, but yeah,
I mean at some point, like i've I just haven't had time to
play it and there's no draw Like when they rolled out the update, I
loaded it up to take a look at it, took Alex into training for
a little bit and said like, all right, I have no desire to
ever play as Alex. And that's kind of that. I don't know,
that's probably typical of like a lot of other fighting games that you've played,
correct I guess. Yeah, I don't know. I mean I stuck with
Mortal Kombat X a little longer, just played a lot more online for for
a longer period of time, and there was more there too. Yeah yeah,
but like you know, I kind of keep coming back to KI here
and there. It'll you know, I'll go like a couple months without playing
it, and it's like, oh, what's going on with Let's just play
at KI. You know what's going on in the Shadow Lab? Yeah,
they're doing this stuff and go look at that stuff and and all that.
But I don't know, I feel like I moved away from Street Fighter,
like like for something I went into and enjoyed enough to where I was like
actually kind of like intending to stick with it. It turned out to that
I was driven away from it even faster than the average fighting game. Yeah,
I think. You know, dude, the lack of single layer content
yea, and the way that they've handled that, it's really like kept people
away and it's going to continue to watching them fuck it up. Like,
watching them continue to fuck it up is not inspiring me to want to go
back to it, no joke. Yeah, you know, it's it's like
you're just looking and go like, wow, this this game was this game
had absolute merit at launch, like in terms of the fighting being sound and
enjoyable. It was just everything around it was this burning garbage fire, and
that fire seems to have only gotten hotter, and the game itself is well,
it's it's okay, Well the fire is spread into different areas, right,
it's still smoldering in the sense that people thought it was going to have
been put out by now keep the analogy, yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
it should have been extinguished and you know, and the core game would
only get better. It's like, okay, well, sure enough they added
a character and that's that's cool. That's theoretically better. You know, the
game itself was already kind of fine to begin with, so or whatever.
But yeah, yeah, the trial stuff, you know, that's that's not
enough, And in some ways it's too little, too late for some of
that. The idea, like the idea that they would like implement a tutorial
and like check that off on a list and have it literally just be these
fucking like walls of texts that roll out as you watch AI do things to
each other is like embarrassing. That is the wrong lady like this is,
and there's so many better examples. The guy who wrote in talks about you
know, people looking the other way because it's Street Fighter. It's like,
well that also gives them that works the other way, Like there is there
should be a heightened level of scrutiny because this is Street Fighter. Fucking five,
this is an ex four. Yeah, this isn't fucking Nitro plus Blasters,
Heroine's Infinite Duel. This isn't even fucking Killer Instinct. This is fucking
street Fighter. There is a bet degree that they need to they're fucking full
on sequel two Street Fight. It's only the fifth one of these to ever
exist. Yeah, so at some point, like you have to look at
that and go like they've you know, like for this, for any fighting
game, no matter what you put on the box, like no matter what
name is on there, you're gonna look at this and go like this is
fucked up for this to be how that how something as valuable and as treasured
and as storied as Street Fighter for them to be treating this game, this
franchise that way, like this is worse than they would when they were putting
out like fucking nine different Street Fighter anniversary collections every week, you know,
like when they were really when Capcom was really going for it and flooding the
market with PS one fighting games and collections and all other stuff. Like this
seems more egregious than that, even if the game itself is good, which
I'll reiterate, I think in terms of broken promises, absolutely, yeah,
like it in terms of just like care for the franchise, you know,
like this is one of those things where you just look at it and go
like, man, like I get that, like resources were limited. You
obviously had to make some kind of weird deal with Sony to make this thing
happen, But fucking come on, I can get behind the disappointment. Yeah,
for sure, It just it seems like one of those things. And
then we don't know the situation in terms of just like I'm sure no one
is there going like, fucking job, well done. Everybody wrap it up,
like oh wait what, like you know, and they're not shocked by
it. But so I'm not gonna you know, it's tempting to sit here
and go like, man, they really should have taken more pride in what
they were doing, because this is fucking Street Fighter. I'm sure that it's
at some point the business realities of making a game and shipping it on whatever
budgets and all the other stuff that they had to contend with. Yeah,
factor into this. No one's probably stoked with where the game launched at.
They knew it was going to be like this. I think, you know,
bottom line, I think they lost sight of you know a lot of
those like you know, major numbers of consumers, like their priorities, that
they lost sight of that and just tried to focus too much on the fighting
game community. Yeah, and yeah, that's that's that's where it's burning up
right now. I wouldn't and I mean whatever, like and I'm sure like
within the scene, does anyone even really care. I mean other than like
where lobbies need to work, like there's that, But I'm sure like at
some point, like those people are just playing the game and that's it.
It's just they don't care. It's like it in training, they fight with
honor and fight with people they know, So rage quitting is not as huge
a problem. The survival mode is a bunch of bullshit. And yeah,
that's that's comments it on unlocking new colors, that's yeah, that's that's some
dumb stuff. Yeah, for sure. Unlocking it per costume is also that's
some double secret extra bullshit. Yeah. Uh yeah. Everything outside of the
core mechanics of this game has been pretty disappointing. I will say that it
feels like that's what that was reflected in the sales. Yep, yeah,
that's that's that's fair, and I think that that's fine. I think that
it's a real shame because it is a very cool game. Like I thought
a lot hotter on this one out of the game than even I did with
street Fighter four really, and I felt like felt like very excited about well
a street Fighter four was a different thing where you know, like we got
a lot of opportunities to play it before it came out, so by the
time it came out, it was like, all right, cool, it's
out, finally now I can play it where it's like street Fighter five,
like you know, they did their beats and those were broken, so I
didn't spend a lot of time with that. They get better. So it
was definitely a feeling like like it happened all at once, Like as the
game was getting closer and closer to release, there was this sudden like oh
shit, No, this is actual though. They're putting out a new fucking
street fight. There have only been five of these as it been a while,
and it had it had been a while. Yeah, so that's actual
moment. And I kind of had fallen off of four you know, around
the time, like even like Super came out or something like that, just
kind of like they started adding more and more characters that I didn't care about.
So it was just that game got away from me. I was like,
this is a chance to start over. I'm still having a great time
playing with you know, a core group of friends. You know, we're
still just as hot and heavy about it as we were, you know when
it first came out. So yeah, luckily the core mechanics are just that
good. Yeah. I feel like, you know, if you got in
with a good group of people that played pretty regularly, sure, yeah,
you would start you know, looking at YouTube videos as far as like tutorials
and stuff, get really into it. Yeah, that's a that's a tough
ass, cuts a tall order for a lot of people. That's bullshit.
I mean, no, you have to look it up. Ship with Clash
of Clans. No, I'm not talking about looking stuff. I'm talking about
I'm talking about the running crew, like getting a regular group of people that
will meet up reliably to play together on like for people who are busy and
play other games and blah blah blah. Unless I'm unless I'm reviewing something,
unless there's like unless there's like a case of like I need to finish this
game by Monday, because that's my job. I'm not talking by doing it
every night. Yeah, that's that's what I'm but but I'm saying I never
actually play games on a schedule. So it's it's like meeting up with people
to play a game. It's just not a reality. Yeah, it's it's
it's becoming yeah, like so much harder for me to h I get that,
like I fitted in wherever I can't and that's you know, I spend
a lot of hours playing games, but it's not something where we have to
move on, like we gotta. We gotta keep loose, man, we
gotta. But also it's just it's just very difficult for me to just be
like, all right, four o'clock Sunday, we're gonna do this. And
it's like, well, now four o'clock Sunday came around, and we decided
to go see a movie. So fuck this, like you know, like
it's it's it's not that's not something I would prioritize, but so that that's
what makes it hard. I don't necessarily say that I prioritized It's not a
certain night of the week. It's just like after midnight or something. If
everybody's online, then we will hop on with a few people. It's I
don't know, pretty pretty catual. But anyway you have to you know,
what it is is that you kind of have to make it away of life
to do that. Like no, like I have that. I have that
with Doda, but it's because I put a fucking lot of time into Doda,
like like making those connections, finding people I like playing with, like
like having a network of people set up where I can jump on there and
find people to play with. Like that is attainable, but you have to
put a lot of time into it. Yeah, when four came out,
Yeah it was a way a life for me totally. Like that's I was
like eight hours a day, you know, seems I got home from work,
I was playing that till till whenever. But but I mean now with
with with five, I play it very very casually and yeah, I'm looking
up videos every now and again. Like I said, I'm playing once or
twice a week for maybe a couple hours with friends, like, and I'm
having fun with that. Like I don't have that drive to just like really
dedicate. I feel a little bad sometimes where I'm like, funk, I
should really work harder at this. But then it's like, no, I
can get in. I can kind of hold my own. I'm having fun
with a game, like I don't have to dedicate my life to it.
Yeah, but I've got situations like that where like, you know, like
I'm max level in the division and I would really like to do some dark
zone stuff with people, but I don't know anyone that is max level.
I'm not friends with anyone other than Austin. I think it's the only other
level thirty. Yeah. On the PS four versions specifically, it's something like
that, it's way harder to just pick up and play like a pickup group
type thing where street fighters just like whatever skill level, whatever time, Yeah,
just top top in and do it and so for it in a few
minutes. Yeah, they're there are plenty of examples like that like that,
where it's just like you know. Yeah, there's just like team games I'm
never gonna play because I'm never gonna put a team together, like yeah,
when it's really hard. If I liked the mechanics of Dodo, would actually
be a fucking nightmare because then I would have to start like trying to and
those are long ass games like trying to like work on these schedules and and
get like that's that sounds terrible, Like bare minimum, like a one sided
stomp is thirty minutes, oh geez, easily easily goes to an hour,
Like a remotely contentious match can easily go to an hour. It's it's part
of it is part of why I call of Duty so much. It is
because you can just fucking fire that up and play and yeah there's teamwork involved,
but whatever, it's not a game to play casually. But like that
level of time investment is what heightens the drama so much. Oh totally.
You put that much time into it, and it's gone back and forth that
many times, like you are going to fucking fight it out to the bloody
fucking end like Mario party. Right, Yes, exactly, the time exactly
better yeah, next email. Next email from Stewart it's about popcorn lung.
I don't even remember talking about that. Oh, working at a movie theater.
Yeah, an email. Just heard you guys talking about popcorn along on
the podcast, and you mentioned you didn't know if it was real science or
not. Unfortunately it is. Yes. Bronchiolitis obliter ends is the medical name,
and it's caused by the dia settle that gives fake popcorn butter. It's
buttery flavor. It is perfectly safe to eat, but inhaling it in large
amounts literally obliterates your airways. It usually affects people working in popcorn plants,
but one person got it from eating two bags of microwavable popcorn a day for
ten years. Okay, yeah, you could realistically never inhale enough of it
to cause real damage, but keep in mind and keep it in mind the
next time you're huffing that buttery delicious smell. Ps. Also just read that
it was found in some vacant vaping liquids recently, So fuck that, I'm
in it. It's in your vape, buttery vape. I think that's why
people the PGV. I don't know. Vaping is weird. Sometimes I watched
people live streaming themselves vaping. Yeah, you think twitch layouts are bad,
try watching some vape streams where they don't where they don't have where they don't
have a video game to fill up most of the window. What it was,
what's their vape out? It look like it's just a ton of ads,
Like every single one is just like them going like I got a coupon
over due to give away in the chat giveaways. I got to these liquids
here. Last night I was watching guys talk about how great peanut butter flavored.
Like, Keep mind, I've never vaped in my life and don't have
intend to ever say peanut butter vape peanut butter flavored vapes. Well, Jeff,
I feel like you're the guy to ask about this. All right,
great for all the talk we've done about vaping on the bomb cast. Yeah,
I don't know anyone who does it. I see it on the streets
of San Francisco all the time. But these like enthusiasts that are live streaming
and youtubing themselves vaping. Is this primarily supposed to be like a tobacco thing
or a weed thing? Tobacco? Is it? Everybody? I mean,
in fact, yes, it is people do vaporizes weed. Okay, that's
doable. But when a lot of people in this in this scene look down
on that because they're like, no, man, I don't get into that
bullshit. And they're doing it for the love of the cloud. Yeah,
it's not even a start tobacco. It's like a cigar aficionado type thing,
but I mean vaping it is. It is a mixture of the cigar aficionado
thing mixed with like the same urge that like people that upgrade their PC or
tinker with a car have because they're constantly fucking reviewing new vapor rigs and yeah,
upgrading their coils and fucking suboming and fucking I can't blow big enough clouds
with this. We've got a sub We've gotta subown more. Don't sub up
too much. It's gonna blow up in your face. Man. Come on.
Like there's a store near me and the biggest sign on it says build
your own vape pin And like I just stare at that, and I'm like,
I isn't it just a way to like bring in tobacco. Like there's
to be fair in different ways, like to be fair. There's Goldberg device
to fucking vape, but if it was in some cases it is, Yeah,
I mean, to be fair, there are absolutely people who have used
vaping to stop smoke, like they will nicotine as a way. And granted,
granted, the long term studies on vaping have yet to be completed,
so who knows if it's actually better or not there, but it has people
anecdotally are definitely saying that, like, you know, hey, my lungs
feel better since I stopped smoking regular cigarettes and switched it to the vapes.
It's hard to imagine how it could be any worse than actual cigarettes, right,
right, I'll put it that way. But but you know, it
does. But I still don't doubt that at some point they will complete the
study and go, oh wait, no, this thing is totally fucking killing
you in a totally different way. Yeah, I would not doubt it.
Uh. And then there's the part where like you've got these like concentrated you
know, nicotine fluids hanging out sitting on a counter, and like, oops,
this kid spilled it on his arm and now that's real bad. Oh
you know, wait, does that act real? That's actually I believe it
is bad to get it on your skin what in some cases, Yeah,
because it will, it can soak in that way. I guess. Then
if you're smoking cigarettes, there's the risk of like oh I fell asleep in
my house burned down. Sure, yeah, yeah, I had a good
idea to do any of those things. I guess not. Yeah, I
don't know. It's so it's it's the same type of like insufferable that people
get when they're talking about microbrew beers. Oh, like guys that are really
into IPAs and stuff like that, really picky about it. Yeah, like
it's really hoppy. It's really this one's really like it's like that's I want
the opposite of that. Yeah. Yeah, this is why I'm drinking this
Paps blue ribbon and stop telling me that, like, oh, I need
to send you a real beer, Like no, you don't, thank you,
thank you, but yep, that's yep. I'd rather actually probably drinking
real water or vodka or you know anyway. Anyway, beer's terrible. M
Do you want some vodka? Sure, I got the huka over here,
Yes, let me drink it right out of there anyway. Yeah, I
don't know. That's the the watching people and and they're the people that get
all like up in arms about their vaping rights are just so much fun,
so much fun to watch, But no, I should be able to do
this inside because it's not. Definitely, I've definitely seen people on the internet
complaining that they can't vape, like around people in meeting rooms at the office
and stuff like that. Is vaping on planes a thing a thing that you
cannot do. Early on a window of time when it was allowed, there's
people maybe tried to do it and we're told like, hey, fucking don't
do that. And then someone went like it's just fucking water vapor man,
Yeah, and then they got cold fucking stop. Yeah. I think some
guy at a bar in Kansas explaining to me like, no, you can
totally do this on a plane wherever. It's not tobacco smoke, you know.
But it will it will get the ship regulated out of it at some
point. Yeah, because if there there's one thing the government loves, it's
taxing shit like that, and so they'll they'll do that. But yeah,
it's I don't know, it's the wild West in that scene right now,
and people are going crazy and there. They want to keep it legal,
keep it free, keep it keep it out there. Man's second hand vaping.
The worries keep vaping for the people. It depends on what's in that
stuff, yeah, and what the effects of them, and maybe they need
to study that a little more just to make sure. Who knows. I
have what friend who vapes and I at one point let him vape in my
house and it was, you know, I would certainly not let him smoke
cigarettes in my fucking house. Yeah, And it was like, you know,
some fucking raspberry bubble banana berry but stuff, I don't know, it
is really good and but and it was like, you know, the after
the scent in the room was like not entirely unpleasant, So it was like
kind of gross, but it was like, okay, I could I could
live with this. So somebody was doing it in their house, it wouldn't
like yellow the walls and their teeth and stuff like that, right, or
staining the crop probably probably not, I don't know, but you know,
like I let him doing the house and it was it was not a big
issue. I had this worry of just like, ah, is this couch
gonna like smell like this forever? Like every time someone sits down as a
little bit of vape juice gonna come puffing out of it or something. I
bought a George Thura good At nineteen ninety tour shirt from eBay once good call,
and from the moment I opened the package, my apartment smelled like like
just pure cigarettes from as you would expect. My uncle passed away and I
got a lot of stuff that he had in his house, like a copy
of RBI Baseball and some some like keyboards, some music, you know,
some keyboards, my old guitar from when I was a kid. I got
that back fucker anyway, and every single piece of electronics just I couldn't keep
it in the house for like a year. I had to keep it all
in the garage because of just the cigarette smoke was just pouring. The smell
was just pouring off of every single one of these things. It's a really
bad staine. It's so much worse when it's been like baked into something than
when it's like fresh out of someone smoking. So that's why when you go
look at like, you know, for like a music hardware or just really
any kind of hardware on eBay or something like that, they're always like from
a smoke free home. Yea, Yeah, because that stuff gets fucking nasty.
Gross. Speaking of gross, there's an email from Nicholas. I'm twenty
one and considering buying a fanny pack. Yeah, you're ana. Are you
a professional wrestler? That's not all the response I was expecting. But okay,
does it play music? Are you? Michael ps Hayes. If you
are a professional wrestler, then yeah, you need a place to keep you
to you need a fanny pack one of the boys. Yeah, I under
any other circumstances, No, absolutely not. I get press releases from this
fanny pack manufacturer that has like a fucking boombox built into it. Yeah.
Yeah, like once I'll get one of these, And I'm oddly intrigued.
Fanny Pack broke up and there's unfortunately they're so convenient. I wish they'd come
back. Yeah, I wish fanny pack would get back together as well.
I know, man, it's a real bubber ghetto. Bootleg was a really
good, underrated Yeah. Huh. Did I inadvertently stumble into reading a wrestling
email or the fanny pack thing? Yeah? I mean they are completely linked
to wrestling, like and there are in modern times the only people that would
wear a fanny pack today are like completely crazy. Okay, our professional wrestlers
who are completely the only people I've seen in the public wearing fanny packs in
the last I've seen part. I mean, I've seen that classic photo of
the rock Yeah, I mean that is that is okay. There are entire
tumblers dedicated to pictures of wrestlers wearing fanny packs, and there's something they're They're
Hall of Fame ceremony. This year, one of the wrestlers came out literally
just wearing a fucking fanny packs. Yeah. Yeah, one of the inductees.
Yes, yes, he inducted in a fannie pack, which was somehow
the most the Bad Street USA sharing fuck man. All right, two Moore
emails. I slightly regret reading this email because I really have to pee,
but here we go. Amanda in Dallas, writes in and says, I
was wondering if you could offer some suggestions for a complete Nintendo nube. I
grew up. I grew up playing video games with my dad, but I
never got the chance to get into the Nintendo side of things. I remember
being eight years old and asking my dad if we could finally buy a sixty
four. He turned to me and said there will be no Nintendo in this
house. Nintendo is four children, and proceeded to hand me a copy of
Death Trap Dungeon for the PlayStation and sent me on my way. I was
eventually given a Game Boy Color one birthday. Right, I'm really torn about
that. On one hand, I'm like yeah, and I'm like no,
was this? Like was your dad also posting to a lot of message boards
at the time, because that seems very using it mostly man. I was
eventually given a Game Boy Color one birthday thanks to my grandma, and spent
most of my time with that handheld playing Pokemon Blue. I look at all
the love for the Mario and legend of Zelda games and feel like like I
am sorely missing out as I've never played a single into no game outside of
the Pokemon franchise. If you had to choose five standout games to introduce a
right, maybe I should just go to bathroom to introduce a new person to
the wonder for wonderful world of Nintendo. What games would you choose? They
can be from any platform past present. Okay, okay, let's Mario World,
right, sure, Yeah, Okay, that's that's the lock Man that
was quick, Yeah, linked to the past. Okay, let's hang on.
I think the to her lot. I'm not disagreeing with you necessarily,
but let's not go too SNSs heavy right off the time. I know.
But but as far ast like, you want like the best Mario and the
best Zelda, and I think that's that m if you're interested in what the
like classic Nintendo meant around them. But you know, I guess. But
also she doesn't, doesn't she was saying. And she was also saying that,
like it didn't get an n sixty four, so that stuff might be
too old. Yeah, Like the joy of Mario sixty four when it came
out was like, holy shit, I'm playing a three D video game.
If you played Mario sixty four now for the first time, it wouldn't have
thirty percent. It's still a great game, but it wouldn't have that holy
shit factor it had in ninety six. I'll give you that. Yeah,
so I want to lock those two Super Nintendo ones. Trying to think other
series that like Super I think I think that's prettymature. God damn, I
want to say Super Metro too, But that's we're getting real sness heavy.
This is exactly what I'm talking about. Hang out, You're falling into this
trap of the fucking Nintendo cannon that you defended their graves and like gold Night
in Age, Well, I would I would second the Super Metrod. I'm
just saying, yeah, okay, listen, games, I think that there
are other games that, like you could play instead of Super Metroid that you
would give you outside of a Nintendo Yeah, like a sympony the Nighters.
Yeah, they would give you that would they would do that thing like better?
But I don't know that I would say the same about Super Mario World.
You might, you might be in the world is the best like two
deep platformer in the world. Oh man, I'm trying to look like any
s like the MegaMan's were, but I don't know that those have an importance.
Yeah. I think that that like something that I think we yeah,
we talked about before that like they're removed from nostalgia. Are these games actually
important? And more often than not, the answer is absolutely. Are we
talking about historical No, I mean I mean, like like across the board,
a lot of games. I mean, I think Mario World probably is
one of them that pokes through. But yeah, yeah, are we talking
historical importance here though, or games that would be fun to play right now.
I think it's got to be both. Yeah, I think that.
Well then you know Mario World Links the Past I think totally satisfy both of
those. Yeah. You know, you you have the benefit of being able
to play like Ocarina of Time on three DS, and that's the best way
to play that game, Like, it looks better, plays better, It's
got everything that made the original great. So I mean, if you're gonna
play Acarina for the first time, I would say do it on three DS
unless you really want to big strain. But at that point I might even
say, like maybe play win Waker. Yeah, I think Opera is in
there. Yeah. Like, like she specifically said, how would you want
to introduce somebody to Nintendo, Like, I mean, Zelda, Zelda,
Zelda burning two of your five games on the same franchise, Yeah, sports
like that. That's a pretty good answer like that, But I think I
think that's important, like if you want to hit, if you're if the
goal is to introduce someone to Nintendo and like and not just saying like at
some point they started drawing all these characters like this, and they all look
like garbage. They're called me's here because if it's the five best games,
there's gonna be a lot of Mario and Zelda on there. Can I thrown
punch out? I mean you could, I just don't think you would.
I think it plays so good still. Maybe that's so nostalgia heavy for me,
but play so good because yeah, if it's just the best games to
play now, I would say it's all Selden Mario. For the most part,
I'm gonna say whatever the most current animal crossing is at any given new
Leaf, Yeah, yeah, new Leaf would be awesome. My favorite one.
I'm looking for breath here. Okay, Okay, I don't think you
get a star fucks in there. I don't think. I don't think Pickman
makes the grade. No kidd of chorus Man, Kirby m I don't think
there's that one Kirby game. It's like this is starfy. Uh, Larry
Starvey is fun. Yeah, I like star Me too, Uh, Kirby's
Pinball Land, brain Age, Sodoku. I mean i'd Rhythm Heaven, Warrio
Ware Ware, Yeahware might be a good one. Warrior is a great way
to show up the weirdness of Nintendo Doctor Mario, Yeah, that's great.
Doctor Mario is pretty good. Any S Tetris the one Nintendo made, Yeah,
but then show the other one and go like sometimes Nintendo was business Yep.
Mario Sunshine, what's there? Should be good games if you want to,
like, if you want five reasons to stay away from Nintendo, we
can get into Mario Sunshine. M okay, animals. I think Animal crossing
a sound. I think Mario Worlds sound like to the Past to sound.
There's three locks, I think. I think whet Sports is a good Yeah,
it's a super important one. I mean that is at the top of
their game, working with the tools at hand. So what are we making
an imminently playable game. So we don't have sixty four GameCube or we you
or any s represented here, there's got to be something on any s.
I mean five standout games. That's that's the only mandate. I mean,
I would I would say Mario Galaxy two. I mean, because then there's
three D Mario. I say, you get the best three D Mario and
the best two D Mario, you get World in Galaxy two. That's too
much Mario. Never I think with only five games and the Breath of Ninten.
Those catalog Mario Telda are the best games they make by far on the
same franchise. In terms of games that hold up, I think that that
starts to make sense. I think it makes because two D and three D
Mario games are so different. What about Donkey Kong the first one? Yeah,
what about Junior I always prefer Junior Snass, Mario Kark done, Oh,
Mario Karto Double double Dash's no, I mean, just whatever the newest
one is, because that's how it works. Eight is actually really good.
Play the new one and that's the one you like, and than everything that's
terrible and Double Dash are the best ones. I think. I want to
Mario your card in there. Yeah, it's pretty important important. Yeah,
Mario Karts are pretty damn like to Nintendo. Yes, those things we play.
Yeah, yeah, you want basic sales? Here you go, you
play, there, you go. I'd say Double Dash m game represented.
All right, that's a good list of games. Yeah, maybe not maybe
not a hard five, but that's a one and two for sure. Mario
World and Zelda, like in past, enjoy buying buying all of those systems
as well. Yes, indeed, probably get most of that stuff on virtual
console with this power. Yeah, you totally get those two and well oh
yeah, well not what if it was one game that could be a million
game? You just got Super Mario Maker. Yeah, actually that's that's a
good one too. No, it's not. We're introducing people to that stuff
like that's a little bit much. If you gave them a Super Mario World
also, then then it makes sense. But just on its own, like
you'd see like the art style and anyone, but you about any any point
of reference, then yeah, it's a lot to take in. Mario two.
Who Mario two is pretty good? Yeah, all right? Last email
Brad from Yorkshire in the UK. The drive to E three. My soon
to be wife and I are spending some of our honeymoon around LA and San
Francisco. Part of this involves renting a car and driving from La up to
San Francisco. As a brit and very much a tourist, is there anything
you can recommend seeing on the drive between the two cities? I ask,
because you have most likely made this trip for E three. Taco. That's
for damn taco. Doctor Hogley woggles? Yeah, what is that? Doctor
Hogley wog LEAs Tyler, Texas barbecue. We've talked about it before. And
what does Sepulvida? What's it called that city? Yeah? Is that as
a road? It's not. I don't think it's a it's a sub the
pod racer that Anakin goes against some episode one. Fucking I don't know,
man, ask me anything about Star Wars episode one. It's sup boulevard there
n there was a kid and they pod raced And what's what's the name of
the green guy with tentnacle hair that grins a lot? Is that is that
jar rib? Does he have technacle hair? I don't have, just years
that look like dressings. I'm talking about kid fisto. Man. Oh okay,
oh shit, move on. But yes, that is some of the
best barbecue. Like I have not had good barbecue in California, but then
somehow this weird place in California is some of the best barbecue I've had,
counting all the places in Kempas City. But if you're like a tourist and
you're making that drive, don't take Hi five, like take the drive up
the coast, drive up Highway one probably and it's how long is the year
it adds? Maybe an hour or something like that. But it's that it
was like twice as long as no. No, totally worth it. But
you know there's a you know a lot of nice touristy type places. You
know, go through Big sur go through a lot of you know, it
drives through that area during the day though, I mean obviously, Yeah,
it's very windy roads and it you know, it can get a little foggy,
like go the whole length. Yeah, like what one becomes one of
one? You can go that way, so I take you through like Monterey
and stuff. I think. So, Okay, it's been a while.
It's been a while since I've gone that way. Yeah. Man, that's
a way more serious answer than I was expecting. If you have I figured
it was just like Santaella Del Taco go if you have pale skin, you
can get insulted by Danny Dwyer. That's a favorite. Yeah. Yeah,
stop of that Del Taco and Danny Dwyer will say something horrible about you.
What fucking monster. Yeah, the one is probably the way to go.
Yeah, see some see some scenery. I guess I eat some seafood.
I guess I'll be making that drive again in a couple of months here.
Fuck, why don't you just fly? I don't know, it's so much
faster. Having done the drive last year, I really enjoyed that. Yeah,
it's and not the airport. Yeah yeah, but eating tacos. Yeah,
but you've done it like once, not for the better part of two
decades at ly, See why Jeff does it? Like if I had a
car, i'd consider it. I thought, I just thought. I don't
know. I've always found it relaxing, and partially because like I never had
to like load a ton of gear. Yeah. Like if I was like,
you know, fucking Frank Adams driving the U haul full of shit,
I'd be like, this is terrible. Aren't we a big company? Why
do we have to haul our own ship? This is bad? Yea?
But yeah, and sure enough they don't do that anymore. A company comes
in and drives the truck down. Sure it's not fucking game spot live hauling
their own ship to U hauls or whatever. It was fun when we there
was a big caravan of like eight cars or whatever full of people. Yeah,
but it was silly, But that all that all fell away? Would
you guys stop it like this? Sometimes run into people, Yeah, yes,
now, yeah, I am literally the last man standing on the fucking
grand tradition of that drive. I mean we used to. This was back
in the era of the little little plug in AM transmitter. Sure that you
plug into your like your iPod I guess at the time, Yeah, to
play music. So we would like we would like pull up alongside each other's
cars and like try to tune in the other cars little like mobile AM station.
Let's hear what they were listening to. That's pretty It was a dumb
thing. That was fun. Yeah, all right, bobcast at GiantBomb dot
com is the email address you got any emails you want to send in?
Please do? Uh? I guess that's it, that bad little show.
Yeah yeah, I think so. How you feeling about it? We've got
eleven new results for dark Yeah. Okay, yeah, we gotta we gotta
do it. Hang on, I gotta pull up this form thread results on
what tweets? That's it? Yeah? Really for Dark Souls crash that huh,
it's all broken. It seems like people are going to steam. It
seems like that's that Steve thread was growing last night checked, whereas this one
is someone writing to Vinny and saying Dark Souls three is the Dark Souls of
testing for Crash bugs. That's that's deep. I guess. Yeah, I'm
pulling up this form again. Let's do one last scan. Yeah, it
looks like it's pretty much still consolidated to that one thread, which is now
at how many pages? Forty seven pages? Now? Geez, start up
Crash at the first bonfire. Whenever I walk to bonfire, Crash is my
game. Mhmm, yeah, it's happening. It's out there, Yeah,
it's it's really kind of crazy that this is something that we've seen for I
guess like a couple of weeks now, right, Yeah, and that it
is out there for sale now still not fixed, yep, that's uh,
that's something else man hopefully gets fixed. I have to assume it's probably hard
to nail down what's going on with that, but we'll have a review of
that game in your future and some other stuff. Yeah, yeah, yep,
yes, yes, indeed, excellent. Uh, what else is going
on this week? What else is going on this week? We're gonna be
I'm locking Dan and yes, that's right, fucking done with the Melican fucking
sit down and play this game until it's over you. Motherfucker's Adazonrew all right,
Yeah, I will be in that room. That's gonna happen, Drew,
He's gonna beat it. You're gonna be in that room high energy,
eating snacks, being helpful. Bring a stack of calorie in there, because
you're gonna need it. Yeah, I would like to get some of that.
I'm setting done. I'm not kidding by locking the door though. Yeah,
it's time bring a jar. Al right, Well we will look forward
to that later in the week. Yeah, that's when some other stuff will
happen. Yes, the videos will get posted. Yes, taxes next week.
Oh life, she's what's happening all around you. We should go live
it? Okay, I guess let's get the hell out of here. All
right, thanks for listening. We will be back with another episode, same
time, same place. See you next week.
