Speaker 1: Everyone, Please welcome Pamela. Pamela, welcome to BAT your happy hour.

00:00:07
Speaker 2: Thank you so much.

00:00:09
Speaker 3: I'm so excited to meet you. Guys.

00:00:12
Speaker 2: I watched your season.

00:00:14
Speaker 3: Oh god, yes, Joe, I watched you because the first night I was eliminated, and I know that you were eliminated.

00:00:24
Speaker 4: I'm sorry, no, no, no, it worked out for he's doing just so it's quite fabulous.

00:00:30
Speaker 3: But I absolutely loved you. I live in Chicago.

00:00:33
Speaker 1: Oh do you where about?

00:00:35
Speaker 3: I've lived just next door to Aprilville.

00:00:37
Speaker 2: It's called Roar.

00:00:38
Speaker 3: It's the second largest city in Illinois.

00:00:41
Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, so yeah, we're in the boonies.

00:00:45
Speaker 1: I know, I know. I used to. We had a few restaurants out there that we delivered, uh, delivered produce too, back in the day when I was yeah, yeah, oh my gosh, wow, okay you are man. Well, I don't know what's wrong with the Chicago people. We can't last very long after. So let's let's hear a little bit. Let's hear a little bit about more about yourself. What do you do? What are you doing to day to day? What do you do for work? You know what?

00:01:14
Speaker 3: I used to own a salon about twenty years ago.

00:01:17
Speaker 2: And I ended up.

00:01:20
Speaker 3: My daughter met her husband at my salon, and after a couple of years, I said, I'm not doing this. My kids are out of college, so I gave it up. And that's when my daughter got married, my son got married. I got started getting grandkids and they've been my job.

00:01:37
Speaker 1: So I got it.

00:01:38
Speaker 2: Such a family day.

00:01:40
Speaker 1: Yeah, how and how long have you been single?

00:01:44
Speaker 3: You know what? My husband passed away January twenty seventeen. Get your It was pres date cancer. So I'm just going to reiterate that's such an amazing test to take, and he didn't take it, and he literally apologized up until he passed away. I'm so sorry. I should have been, you know, better at this. But anyway, we were married for forty almost forty seven years. We met when I was sixteen, he was seventeen and high school sweethearts. I went to his prom, he went to my prom. We got married in nineteen seventy and I had two great kids, seventy two and nineteen seventy three, so I'm so lucky. He was an amazing husband and father, and about twenty years before he passed away, we decided to add some spice because our kids I hope my kids aren't watching. Well, we I didn't decide to add spice because the kids were in college in a way, so we pretended we were virgins again. We rediscovered. Honest to god, it worked. We rediscovered. We start all over again, because come on, we were in high school when we met.

00:03:07
Speaker 2: We did we knew nothing right.

00:03:09
Speaker 1: Yeah, I do have to say, I'm just so surprised to how this story has evolved. Please keep please keep going.

00:03:19
Speaker 3: I'm telling you it saved our marriage because the intimacy between two people is more important than anything in the world. There's nothing that's going to keep you guys together more than that intimacy. So even if it's ten, fifteen, twenty years, spice it up again.

00:03:40
Speaker 1: All that.

00:03:41
Speaker 5: So you guys were virgins twice together, you were virgins like.

00:03:44
Speaker 4: That, and your reborn virgins, born again, born again virgins twenty twenty years ago.

00:03:51
Speaker 2: Yeah, and we really studied.

00:03:53
Speaker 3: I mean we did films, we did books, and when I got married, my education was my mom handed me that mom and dad handed me this book. Everything you need to know about sex, but we're afraid to ask. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that was my training.

00:04:10
Speaker 4: So you just like by like reborn versions. You just med me like took it upon yourselfs like relearn about sexual intimacy.

00:04:18
Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, I kind it's amazing.

00:04:22
Speaker 1: I love that. I love that for you.

00:04:24
Speaker 4: What a way to celebrate your like twentieth anniversary together.

00:04:29
Speaker 2: Honey, We're gonna watch a movie tonight.

00:04:31
Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, not that kind of movie. That kind of movie.

00:04:35
Speaker 2: It's that Titanic.

00:04:36
Speaker 1: We're gonna watch something else, all right, great, great, okay, So.

00:04:40
Speaker 2: How do you know you're latching?

00:04:42
Speaker 5: Is just I think?

00:04:45
Speaker 1: Okay, So how did you get on The Golden Bachelor? Oh my god?

00:04:49
Speaker 3: Okay, another fabulous story. So in twenty nineteen, of course, I have never missed an episode. I started in my sixties fifties or yeah, fifties watching The Bachelor. So when it started to come up that they were looking for senior citizens, I'm like.

00:05:06
Speaker 2: Oh hell oh, hell yeah. And when they called me this is.

00:05:13
Speaker 3: My mom was ninety five and she passed away February eighth, and five days later, the Bachelor called me wow, and I felt like, oh my god, I'm going through this horrible situation and there's something special to look forward to, and they just passed me on and passed me on.

00:05:33
Speaker 2: And I was so shocked when I got.

00:05:36
Speaker 3: The final call, because come on, people, I'm seventy five.

00:05:42
Speaker 5: Are you sevent Wait? Were you the oldest one there?

00:05:45
Speaker 3: Yes, I was. I was older than Sandra.

00:05:48
Speaker 5: Oh my gosh, you have very, very like youthful energy.

00:05:51
Speaker 1: I was just gonna ask you, what is I would not have.

00:05:54
Speaker 5: Guests you're seventy five at all?

00:05:55
Speaker 2: Thank you. Let me tell you.

00:05:57
Speaker 3: I do a massage therapy, cryo therapy, light therapy, I get facials, I.

00:06:05
Speaker 2: Do everything I can.

00:06:07
Speaker 3: I if you watch the Beverly Housewives.

00:06:11
Speaker 6: No, the.

00:06:14
Speaker 1: New York one, I do.

00:06:15
Speaker 5: I watch the New York One.

00:06:16
Speaker 3: Okay, but they tell you certain things that they do to keep themselves young.

00:06:21
Speaker 5: Yeah, and I learned.

00:06:22
Speaker 3: I learned cryo therapy was helpful for inflammation. So I walk a run, I can do anything. I have really really good because I was tripping and falling, and so I decided I needed to change, and so I started doing massage therapy weekly.

00:06:41
Speaker 2: I'm getting one tonight.

00:06:42
Speaker 3: He's coming over to my house and I'm getting a massage because it keeps my muscles from Atrophyine. I mean, at this age, you don't use those muscles. You know, you can't walk, you can't talk, you can't do anything.

00:06:55
Speaker 2: Thank you.

00:06:56
Speaker 3: That was a really nice compliment.

00:06:58
Speaker 2: Thank you.

00:06:58
Speaker 3: Oh.

00:06:59
Speaker 4: Of course, Joe's very into natural ways to help the aging process, like he does a lot of like hot cold therapy and that's bad.

00:07:10
Speaker 3: Yes, absolutely, I would definitely recommend it because I'm super lazy. I do wait train, but I have somebody and it's twenty minutes twice a week, so I'm a I am super lazy about my exercise. So I have specific places that I go and they take care of me and I don't.

00:07:31
Speaker 5: Have to do any I'm will say it.

00:07:35
Speaker 4: I'll like book myself into like a workout class, like the night before, so that was the morning comes. I have to like hold myself accountable and go work out because so cozy and bad.

00:07:44
Speaker 6: But when I go to the gym, it's so hard.

00:07:47
Speaker 3: But it's a good idea to start now in your fifties. And I'm sorry, you're in your thirties.

00:07:53
Speaker 1: Right for twenty yet not yet? Okay, So what were your thoughts that first night out of the limo? What are your thoughts on Gary when you first meet him?

00:08:05
Speaker 3: Thank god, Oh my god, I was sitting between Edith and uh Marina and gorgeous women and nervous as hell. But I was so excited to meet him because I had seen him on TV and I was so excited to meet him. And again I've heard this from the other women. It's getting out of a limo and you're.

00:08:31
Speaker 2: At the beachher mansion.

00:08:33
Speaker 1: Yeah.

00:08:34
Speaker 3: The crazy thing was Edith had done a confetti.

00:08:38
Speaker 2: Thing and it went everywhere.

00:08:40
Speaker 3: Yeah, I had to wait thirty to forty five minutes to get out. She was the first one. I was the second one to get out. But I was sitting there going, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god.

00:08:50
Speaker 2: Because they had to.

00:08:51
Speaker 5: They had to clean it up. Yeah, yeah, oh my gosh.

00:08:54
Speaker 4: They should have just gotten like a gigantic, like superpower vacuum.

00:08:59
Speaker 3: Well it was wet, so everything. It was almost like you had to pick it up with tweezersers. Yeah, coming up.

00:09:07
Speaker 1: Yeah, So how did that? How did that first conversation go? Was there and he sparked, there, what do you think?

00:09:16
Speaker 3: I thought he was super handsome. He lives eighty five miles from me, his lakehouse.

00:09:22
Speaker 2: And.

00:09:24
Speaker 3: I initially because the whole time that I was there waiting to meet him, those three or four or five days. I just knew that he and I were going to end up together. That was in my head. And I think that's why being eliminated was so difficult, because he was tall, handsome, you know, an Indiana guy, you know, normal regular guy. So I really thought we had.

00:09:53
Speaker 5: On paper, like, it's definitely a fit.

00:09:57
Speaker 2: It was, oh my god.

00:09:58
Speaker 3: You know the our kids went to Iowa University.

00:10:02
Speaker 2: Have wow.

00:10:04
Speaker 3: You know, Iowa was a big, big part of my kid's education, so and so was his.

00:10:09
Speaker 2: So you know, I don't know.

00:10:11
Speaker 3: I I just assumed I would be the one.

00:10:16
Speaker 1: Did you did you not get Did you get any time in the house after that initial yes, a little entrance, you got more time with them? Yes? And how did that conversation flow?

00:10:28
Speaker 2: Horrible?

00:10:29
Speaker 1: Really? Okay?

00:10:32
Speaker 2: All right, okay.

00:10:33
Speaker 3: So the thing was, I was going to bring up the fact that you can learn a lot about somebody by what they choose to eat. I decided that I would present Gary with a plate of a hot dog, a broad worst and a pig and a blanket, and see what he would pick.

00:10:55
Speaker 5: Was the hot dog in like a hot dog bun?

00:10:57
Speaker 3: Yes, everything was in fun and stuff. So it was in a dome, you know, so I had to lift up the dome, and when I looked at him, I saw this look on his face like, oh no, she didn't what what?

00:11:13
Speaker 1: Why? Why?

00:11:16
Speaker 3: I think it was I think maybe I was a bit uncomfortable after making that choice.

00:11:23
Speaker 1: I was.

00:11:24
Speaker 3: I think I was a bit uncomfortable because the topic was something that it wasn't easy to talk about hot I don't know, and then it just kind of and then thank god Ellen came over and grabbed him, and I have never felt so much relief in my life because I felt like that initial initial sitting down with him, talking to him, looking into his eyes, I didn't get.

00:11:55
Speaker 5: That you didn't have like a connection.

00:11:58
Speaker 3: I did not.

00:12:06
Speaker 1: It's hard to because you know you, like you said, like you kind of romanticize the idea of him before getting out there, but like you just never know because you just don't know these people from Adam and then like there's thirty other women there and it's just I think that first night's just so difficult. I think a lot of it truly is just like luck of the draw, Like you know, you just don't know, Like like it is it's hard, but like you don't hit it off with Gary, But how about any of the other women, if you made friends with any of the other women.

00:12:39
Speaker 3: Yeah, Faith, I gave her some advice, and I think she took it. We were talking about Yes, she is in everything, she's in a band, she does teaching, she did his horses, she has everything and I and I said are you happy? And she goes, well, I said, is there something that you could eliminate? Because it sounds to me like you're not enjoying your life.

00:13:03
Speaker 1: And she was.

00:13:04
Speaker 3: Talking about teaching and got to hate to leave my teaching job because these kids are relying on me. And I said, but how does that make you feel? She goes, I don't like it? And I said quit. Yeah, and I found she did that she had Now, Okay, she probably didn't get it from me.

00:13:22
Speaker 2: No, well you might have.

00:13:23
Speaker 4: Still like that conversation could have sparked some solid leash for sure. You know, sometimes it just takes someone to ask the right question for you to go huh, yeah, maybe I shouldn't do that.

00:13:34
Speaker 2: Well.

00:13:34
Speaker 3: It was so sweet because when I saw her women tell all. She came up to me and she hugged me and she said, she says, you're my best friend, and then you gotta live it. So we had, you know, And then Theresa was in my car and I just loved her because she was more interested in everybody else than she wasn't herself, And I thought that was a wonderful trait to have.

00:13:59
Speaker 1: What are your thoughts? What are your thoughts in the finale and the whole Teresa and Leslie thing of it all?

00:14:06
Speaker 3: Oh my god, A little cringey, a little sad, a little oh my god. If I had been in that place, how what I have acted?

00:14:16
Speaker 2: Yeah?

00:14:17
Speaker 3: You know, you never know how upsetting something like that can be. You've been invested, you've been away from family, you've been away from your phone, and now you're being pushed into these situations or not pushed, but you find yourself in these situations and the only people you can rely on is a bachelor and the girls in the mansion. There's nobody else, you know, to really to listen to. So but I was thrilled for Teresa.

00:14:48
Speaker 1: She invites me to her weddinge, watching it as a viewer, Yes, who did you think it was going to be? You know, I for a.

00:14:58
Speaker 3: Long long time I thought it was Leslie because she's very vibrant and very She'll keep any man excited with things to do and talk about. But the closer I got, the more Theresa really keyed in on him and his needs and what he needed, and she just really focused. And I think her relationship with her husband who had passed away that was key to her responding to Gary so well.

00:15:37
Speaker 5: So I really connected over their shared experience.

00:15:40
Speaker 3: Oh my gosh. Yeah, And there's something incredibly intimate about that kind of an experience. You know, the vores. You can bash your husband, but when you're a widow, what are you going to say?

00:15:55
Speaker 6: Yeah?

00:15:55
Speaker 3: People are They kind of get bored when you start talking about your late husband because you know it's your late husband. He's not here, why are you talking about him? So you don't feel comfortable about bringing him up. But I think because both of them lost their their spouses, they felt comfortable about talking about them. It's not always easy as a widow. You you have to pretend you're not a widow, because first of all, you're invisible as an older person, and if you're a widow, it's like oh, ultra. But this show has produced a confidence. I walk into a room and it's like, Hi.

00:16:40
Speaker 2: Well, I'm here at the party's good start.

00:16:43
Speaker 5: That's amazing feeling.

00:16:46
Speaker 3: Of I'm not just a widow anymore.

00:16:49
Speaker 4: And I feel like a lot of the women we've talked to have talked about, you know, their new sense of confidence and their ability to connect with people and you know meet hopefully new roomen to partners and friends.

00:17:01
Speaker 5: And we did hear.

00:17:02
Speaker 4: That you made a special new friend on social media?

00:17:07
Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, yes, I did. I got a text or somebody got a hold of me on Instagram. Okay, she's only six, she's six. She's six years old. And her mother sent a video to me of her when I got eliminated and she turned the camera onto her daughter and her daughter was crying. But I wanted him to pick her, and her mom goes, Lissy, why why did you want her to be picked? Because she's so pretty. So we started texting and she has sent me videos. I'm expecting something in the mail because Lizzie drew me a picture. She literally connected with me from never meeting me or never seen maybefore. I'm probably, you know, almost seventy years older than her, and the relationship that we have is and during the Women Tell All, I sent her a secret message.

00:18:31
Speaker 5: Really, what was it?

00:18:32
Speaker 3: Well? When they when Jesse said, Pamela, I went, I went like this, and I told her how that this the v.

00:18:42
Speaker 4: Was for her, for those for our listeners, just because they can't they can't see the symbol. If you watched the woman tell her, you might remember. But Pamela's holding up like a peace sign, but sideways, side ways.

00:18:54
Speaker 3: Yes, yes, yes, And she was so so she videotape that that she was watching me do that to her, and.

00:19:04
Speaker 1: She was like, oh, that's fun. Little social social media combined with a little national television. I really can't connect people, you know.

00:19:15
Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought it was so cool.

00:19:18
Speaker 2: I never it never occurred to me.

00:19:19
Speaker 3: I'm waiting for all the the men with private gets to call me welcome. I have to tell you. My son said to me. My son Rob said to me, he says, Mom, what if the only reason that you were on the batcher was to connect with one little girl? I said, then it's all worth it. Yeah, just a small connection one hundred years from now, fifty years from now, is that little girl gonna say, gosh I remember? You know, I don't know, but it was just for me because my grain, my kids were like, oh really, Grandma, Oh my god.

00:20:03
Speaker 2: I'm going to be teased.

00:20:04
Speaker 3: Please don't do this, Please don't do this. You know, they were little sick skeptics.

00:20:09
Speaker 5: So so heartwarming to hear about. You know, all the connections I get made from the show.

00:20:16
Speaker 4: I feel like the golden butterl of women all have like wonderful stories about connecting with football.

00:20:21
Speaker 1: And honestly, you looked great during it. You look great night one, and you did a good job, and honestly, you beat out a lot of women for that position, and we have you on this podcast. So Pamela, honestly, thank you so much for coming on Happy Hour and sharing your story.

00:20:37
Speaker 3: My pleasure and best wishes to you on your wedding and your marriage. You know, I wish you nothing but re Virginine again. Thank you so much you guys, it was such a pleasure. Honestly, I'm thrilled to have met you and to be in your presence and hamiderful, wonderful holiday.

00:21:01
Speaker 5: Okay you, thank you you as well.

00:21:04
Speaker 1: Thank you, Christina. Welcome the Happy Hour.

00:21:09
Speaker 2: Hi, so good to be here. So good to see you guys.

00:21:12
Speaker 5: Good to see you too.

00:21:14
Speaker 4: We got the chance to meet you at the Bachelor mansion for the finale. You went and watched the finale in the audience of Golden Bachelor, and correct.

00:21:24
Speaker 2: No, no, no, I was just at the mansion.

00:21:26
Speaker 5: You were just at the mansion.

00:21:27
Speaker 4: Okay, okay, I know a few of your ladies were there, but we got the chance.

00:21:32
Speaker 5: We had dinner together, we had drinks. It was so fun.

00:21:36
Speaker 6: It was so fun. It was such a great night. It was just the energy level and everything was just off the charts. It was just every everything was about fun and having a good time.

00:21:47
Speaker 5: Absolutely.

00:21:47
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:21:48
Speaker 1: I spoke with you for a little bit and you and Joan were telling me about an idea for a show that you guys want to pitch. Am I right, do you remember that?

00:22:00
Speaker 2: Of course? Of course.

00:22:03
Speaker 5: I want to know what it is.

00:22:04
Speaker 6: Well, you know, first of all, I just think this whole franchise stuff with the Golden Bachelor being included is obviously from things you see on Facebook and stuff is gaining a lot of traction.

00:22:17
Speaker 2: People are really happy about it.

00:22:19
Speaker 6: All of a sudden, you see everybody like talking to people a little older, and people talking about dating and what's going on in our age group, and so you know, looking for things that maybe are maybe a little more age appropriate. So one idea we had, we had a couple, but the one was like, because you have such a fan base with these women, now that not to pick just one bachelor rep, but pick three. And then you have the guys still come in in the limo and everybody meets and greets when they go in the house. They go in the three ladies let's say three too, I think three is a good number. And you go into each rooms and then they do the speed dating thing and so each you know, a guy comes through when he does, you know, five minutes with this person five minutes and that, and they get to ask questions and such, and at the end of that then everybody rates each other. So then the producers get to go, oh, this person like, this person best, this person best, and they put people together and have one on one dates, half day dates, real dates like ice cream in the movies or walking on the beach or you know, real stuff that people do. And then at the end, the woman can either give the fellow a rose but they still have the rows, or she can say, you know, I think I want to go with my number two choice. So then that leaves that guy out there for one of the other two women and she gets to go to number two. I mean to me, it's creating constant drama and anticipation, and that's kind of the base of the idea.

00:23:48
Speaker 4: Wait, I have a question though, So then what happens if so let's say you're one of the three Baucherretts, right, what happens if you like one of the guys and they like you, but they end up going let's say Jones, the other bachelrette, they end up going on a date with Joan instead.

00:24:08
Speaker 2: So is that like a.

00:24:09
Speaker 5: Good conflict or is that gonna like hurt people's feelings?

00:24:12
Speaker 6: Well, you know, the maturity level of the women is a little bit different, and you go into it knowing the rules, I think people would be okay. I think where you're gonna get the real big drama is when it gets down towards the end.

00:24:27
Speaker 5: So that's I mean true, it's true.

00:24:29
Speaker 2: Throwing it out there, it's like.

00:24:31
Speaker 6: Giving somebody giving them something to think about instead of staying with the same format. And I mean, they could expound upon it in all different ways. But that was just one of our ideas.

00:24:42
Speaker 5: To kind of get it based.

00:24:43
Speaker 6: Going because some of these women are so popular. Yeah, see, you'd hate to see only one get picked, you know, I.

00:24:50
Speaker 5: Know that is true.

00:24:52
Speaker 4: It is so hard, you know that they can only choose one bachelorette, one bachelor.

00:24:57
Speaker 5: We did have Did you watch Gabby and Rachel's season any show?

00:25:00
Speaker 2: Yeah?

00:25:01
Speaker 4: So yeah, they had two bachelorettes in that season and so kind of be a similar esque.

00:25:07
Speaker 6: Yeah, except these Well, I think those two girls were pretty much good friends. But I mean, we have such a camaraderie among all of us, it's I think that would be a beneficial.

00:25:18
Speaker 2: Thing for it.

00:25:20
Speaker 5: Mm hmm.

00:25:21
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's my that's my my thought.

00:25:24
Speaker 5: I love it.

00:25:25
Speaker 4: I love that you guys are coming up with such fun, creative ideas for the franchise, and that you've kind of become invested in the show the same way that we have now having been on it.

00:25:36
Speaker 2: Yes, very much so.

00:25:37
Speaker 6: In fact, I told them I wanted to be a consultant that, you know, because the producers and people, you guys are all pretty young and so understanding kind of were a more mature mind. We've all lived like two or three lives, right, and it's like understanding where that kind of a mind is coming from. That sometimes maybe you know, there needs a couple of ladies to consult with.

00:26:00
Speaker 2: Wow, I thought, there.

00:26:04
Speaker 5: Change, let's hired higher.

00:26:07
Speaker 2: How don't you care getting hired?

00:26:08
Speaker 6: I just really want to help this, this whole concept go forward. I think it's hugely important and it's really been beneficial.

00:26:23
Speaker 4: Yeah, all of you ladies seem to feel so passionate about, you know, the show and the message of the show and the impact that it's having, which is so wonderful.

00:26:34
Speaker 6: Well, did I think in my lifetime that at seventy four years old, I'd be doing this, that I'd be on a TV show, I'd be dating, I'd be talking about the life of a single older person. And you know, it's been interesting some of the people, the questions they ask me and such, because.

00:26:54
Speaker 2: I'm I'm up there and so I how are you wildest dreams? Would I think that this would happen?

00:27:00
Speaker 1: How old are you?

00:27:01
Speaker 2: Seventy four?

00:27:03
Speaker 1: Okay? And what do you do? You do you still work?

00:27:06
Speaker 2: No?

00:27:06
Speaker 1: Gosh no? And what did you what did you used to do?

00:27:09
Speaker 2: I retired at sixty six from Nesley Foods. I retired as a purchase manager.

00:27:14
Speaker 6: I had worked at another food company and then I worked at Disney, and then I worked at Fox for a while and that ended back up in the food industry, but always in kind of like the supply chain operation side of it.

00:27:25
Speaker 1: Got it? And how how did you manage your way onto the Golden Bachelor?

00:27:30
Speaker 2: I did see that first ad.

00:27:31
Speaker 6: I went and I applied, and I was like on my fourth interview to go downtown LA for a face to face when COVID happened. So I'm thinking, oh my god, I'm sixty eight, this is never going to happen for me now. So when they came out and announced it again and went higher in the age range, it was like, of course I'm going to apply, so because I was really really disappointed when the first time it had to ceased.

00:27:57
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, okay, So let's so let's go back to that tonight one you get out of the limo, you meet Gary for the first time. What are your thoughts? How is the spark between you two?

00:28:10
Speaker 6: Well, first of all, you know, in a Good Morning America, he was introduced and he's you know, obviously everybody is a very handsome guy, great personality, And when I saw all the things that he enjoyed, literally, I had something in common with him and every aspect of it, and so I went very hopeful.

00:28:30
Speaker 2: And even my daughter called me and she goes, Mom, this guy's like so made for you. And because my kids, you know, I just I don't. I don't.

00:28:39
Speaker 6: I'm not very successful in my dating life just finding someone with my same energy level and my same interests. So I went in very hopeful and it was such a crazy night just to think that I was there and that whole environment and then actually like meeting him was was really awesome.

00:28:58
Speaker 1: Yeah, that that first I can be pretty overwhelming. What like did you when you you and Gary had that first conversation, did you feel anything?

00:29:08
Speaker 3: Like?

00:29:08
Speaker 1: What were your thoughts about him?

00:29:11
Speaker 6: I was like ecstatic because in person he's even more handsome and he was so friendly because I got out and I kind of came at a wrong angle and he was so cute of kind of just kind of inching me to the side to like you need to be stepping here, and it's like, oh my god, because I wasn't thinking anything. It was like I needed help just to like talk, so and it was wonderful.

00:29:33
Speaker 2: It was really really fun.

00:29:35
Speaker 4: Coming out of the limo is such like a wild experience. I remember I had a stepping stool. I had like a little prop for my intro, and I stepped out of the car. It was the first one out of my limo, and I swung back and I knocked the limo with my step stool, and then I was walking.

00:29:51
Speaker 5: I was like, oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. Like it's such an overwhelming night.

00:29:54
Speaker 4: You're looking around, everyone's looking at you, and they're looking at the lead, and you don't.

00:29:59
Speaker 6: Know what they're going to show on what they're not going to show. So you're so conscious of like every movement, you know, everything you say and all that kind of stuff. You really are because you have no idea how it's going to end up coming out.

00:30:11
Speaker 4: So then you go into the first rose ceremony. Do you remember feeling confident if you were like felt like you were going to go a home, if you were sure you were getting get a rose.

00:30:21
Speaker 2: I felt very confident.

00:30:22
Speaker 6: We'd had a very very nice conversation and I served in wine, so I thought that was a big plus, and we had a delightful conversation, and so I was pretty confident that I would get one.

00:30:34
Speaker 5: What did you guys talk about in that first conversation.

00:30:37
Speaker 6: Well, I have my family's like my heart and all of us girls. Again as we're older, we have grandkids and kids. So we talked about family, We talked about things we like to do. Let's see, we talked about oh, things that I was really passionate about and interested in and travel.

00:30:55
Speaker 2: I travel. Since I've retired, I've been like thirteen countries. Oh wow.

00:30:59
Speaker 6: So I shared with him that, and then I shared with them this. I have this philosophy you're in your go go years, your slowgo years, or your no go years, and that I'm still in my go go years and hope to be for quite a while. And so that's why I stay so active.

00:31:15
Speaker 4: You've been to thirteen huntries. Do you have a favorite place that you've ever been?

00:31:19
Speaker 2: You know, I do not.

00:31:22
Speaker 6: Most of them have very special uh things about them, each one of them.

00:31:28
Speaker 2: If I had to pick some, I couldn't pick just one.

00:31:31
Speaker 6: But going to Africa and seeing the animals and stuff, that's pretty tough to yeah, you know, get over. And then the Galapic Ghost was amazing. And then I did about three different trips that were give back that you go and you you actually you stay in like two star places and you work, but you also still get to see all the things that the country has to offer and the tip the regular.

00:32:00
Speaker 2: That you would want to see.

00:32:01
Speaker 6: But like in Thailand, I had my own elephant for four days, had to cut the elephant grass and feed them and walk them down to the river and bathe them. And then in Cambodia, that trip was a Thailand and Cambodia trip. We taught school for half a day and oh my god, it was just that trip was life changing.

00:32:18
Speaker 2: So that trip's pretty far up there.

00:32:21
Speaker 5: Yeah, that sounds amazing.

00:32:22
Speaker 1: Yea, it was okay, So then we see you. You last on the show for a good amount of time, but you end up going home after the talent show. Just kind of looking back at your experience, what would you say was your favorite part of it all of.

00:32:39
Speaker 6: The whole experience. Of course, meeting the women. One of my goals was to leave with friends. It's hard finding women in this age group that have the same energy level and are adventurous and like to do some of the same things I like to do. And so I went with great anticipation that I would find, you know, a couple ladies that I could you know, connect with and stay in touch with. And I found more than a couple, and so that was one of my goals I.

00:33:10
Speaker 2: Was Unfortunately my talent didn't get shown.

00:33:12
Speaker 6: But I had so much fun working with the producers and putting that together. And that was a really fun day because that was like, you know, we all were in front of an audience and every to see what the ladies had come up with was over.

00:33:27
Speaker 2: It was I mean, even Jesse goes, I'd paid to see this.

00:33:30
Speaker 6: Show, and I mean it was amazing some of the talents these ladies had.

00:33:35
Speaker 1: What was your talent that then it gets shown?

00:33:37
Speaker 6: So I did a dialogue about kids today and you know that they're inside and they're you know, and I made different names up for like Twitter, I just called it titter, and I made different names up for everything, and you just they're not experiencing like what I did. And then in my day, we had like Jack's and pickup sticks and dodgeball and teatherball, and you had to, you know, put a key and have these skates that gripped your shoes and you'd skate and you're always outside, and you know, you had hula hoop and we would take our dad's clothes and stuff and stuff newspapers in them, and ty Rope took and throw it out in the street and cars would run over it, and then people would get out yelling and we'd run.

00:34:15
Speaker 2: And then when I was eleven.

00:34:17
Speaker 6: I won a yo yo contest, and so at that time in the show, I brought out my yo yo and started doing yoyo's and I did tricks that actually all worked. I was successful on all of them. And then I brought Gary to the stage and had him do yoyo.

00:34:31
Speaker 5: How was he?

00:34:34
Speaker 6: He got it up and down a couple of times, but you know that was cold, that was you know, he didn't have time to warm up.

00:34:39
Speaker 2: But he was a trooper of course, as he always was.

00:34:42
Speaker 1: Got it well before we before we let you go. What are your thoughts on the way it ended? Gary and Teresa and Leslie?

00:34:52
Speaker 6: You know, from day one I had picked Leslie and Nancy to be the finals. I of course hoped that I would be, But once you see the cow over women that were there, those two girls were the ones I had picked.

00:35:05
Speaker 2: But as you went.

00:35:06
Speaker 6: Through the product, well I didn't get to go that far to see it firsthand, but as I watched it on TV.

00:35:13
Speaker 2: It was pretty it was.

00:35:15
Speaker 6: It was very difficult because I saw that they both had such connections and stuff.

00:35:20
Speaker 2: But I think he made the right choice.

00:35:23
Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so too well. Christina, thank you so much for coming on Happy Hour and taking the time. We really appreciate it getting to know you.
