Speaker 1: They got a nice starting pitching performance from jyzus Lozardo, a bomb from Kyle Schwarber to break a zero zero tie. Trey Turner had a very very good game. He struggled to play this month. There's been times when I think because the defense has been a little shaky this month. But nothing nothing. Game in the sixth inning and feels in. He saves a run with that kind of diving play in the hole, kind of a game changer. If they score a run there the Red Sox, it could be a different game. And then in the eighth inning he leads off with a single, preceding Schwarber's two run home run, and you know how the pitcher with a runner on first who's got some speed, he's maybe focused on Trey a little bit, leaves a cutter over the plate and Schwarber kills it. So I thought that was a I thought he had a really good game, and they, like you said, they want a series. Pitching was excellent. Starting. Pitching was excellent, gave up just two runs in three starts. Bullpen was excellent, Keller was excellent in on Thursday night, so they only scored six runs in the series. Pitching delivered this this win, and they won five out of five series under Don Moddingly. The ship continues to be righted. You don't want to be two games under five hundred, but it's better than being ten games under five hundred. They're moving in a good direction.

Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, and my observations of it, watching pretty much every single pitch of this series, I think you're right. It was big for Turner to turn things around a little bit. If I may use the pun and just a quick comment. And I buried the Boston Red Sox a couple of times because their defense was horrid, and I crushed him on postgame because some of the things that were going on the fact that Ranger Suarez got pulled out of that game is something I just don't quite understand. There has to be something underlying about that.

Speaker 4: He had what seventy six pitches or something like that, He wasn't even sweating, and he was carving up the phillies as simple as that, he was carving them up. I know that their bullpen's been good, but the more you use your bullpen, I mean, these guys need to win games, and how they pulled him out of that game.

Speaker 4: Number two, the fact that they did not go on contact on that play that Krey Turner made. They got Monasterio at third base. He runs pretty good and it's a zero zero game, it's going to be late. You got a good bullpen, you feel good about your team. You got to go on contact. He went back to the bag. I mean, I just don't understand who's running the baseball teams these days. But whatever they're doing, insanity, insanity. He's got to go on contact. If he goes on contact, he's got a chance with Turner lee his feet and Turner made a hell of a play, very athletic play.

Can't do anything about that big home run off of Semoniaga, who has actually had a great, great season, hadn't hadn't given up a run all year. And then I don't know what the hell Story was doing on a ground ball from Bone, only the slowest player in the major leagues, and he tried to make a play and boots it on a high hopper. He could have stepped back thrown him out. And then they get a play to end the inning. Durban gets a ball to his left off the bat of Bryce and Stott and the second basement.

So I'm walking down Ipswich Street in the rain, and I crossed the street to go into the media gate and this big s u V almost hits me, leans on the horn and starts yelling at me. Guess who it is. Er It was Diego Attegi driving Ranger Suarez.

It was It was really funny actually, because I had my head down, they almost.

This is on Blue Sky. If winning in October is the real priority since getting the postseason as much easier as wild card. Now, do any of you have confidence that this team as it is today can make it to the World Series? Don't lie, He says X with an exclamation point. Can they possibly fix the offense by October?

Speaker 1: Yeah? Well, I have confidence they can get to October. Do I have confidence they can win the World Series? You know, they have to get They'd have to get insanely hot with the bats for three weeks, and they'd have to the starting rotation would have to be healthy like and stay through the year and be health be the strength that it has been the last two weeks, and the bullpen has to do a great job. I do think they could probably use another arm in that bullpen, a big arm at the end if you can smell a World Series or World Championships. I love Ruben's idea about Chapman the other day, and as constituted, could the lineup get crazy hot for three weeks? Sure, but I'm not totally confident it will. They struggle against left handed pitching. Their right handed bats have not been strong, and I think this is a real possibility They're going to be back in the market for a right handed bat at mid season one that can help you win the World Series, not just get to October, but win the World Series. So I think they'd have to play over their skis to win the World Series as I sit here right now. But I do think they can get to October and anything can happen.

Speaker 2: Then Todd, Well, I think they can get to October. I think they should still get to October. The way they're playing right now suggests that they will. But I have serious concerns. If you asked me can they make the World Series? Can they win the World Series right now? I would say, as they're constituted today, no, because the right handed bats have been just not good. They've been terrible against left handed pitching. And you know how the postseason works, Guys, you're going to have a left handed starter that a Ranger Swore Az type of guy perhaps, or whomever starting pitcher that is now in the bullpen that is going to just run through these or I'm sorry, a right handed pitcher that's going to run through these right handed bats. They're going to match matchups are so big in the postseason, and these right handed bats have just not hit left handed pitching. So I just think, you know, the way that the postseason works, managers being uber aggressive in terms of facing certain hitters. They just need to be better, you know, they just need to be better, a lot better if they're going to win.

But you know, Garcia and Bowman particular, those guys really need to get it turned on later in the season or the rest of the season to give me any confidence that they can get and win the World Series.

There's not enough offensive punch in the lineup. Adjustments are going to have to be made. That's today now. That can change if they if they start to improve, But it's been a long time now. It's not early anymore. We're quarter away through the season and I haven't seen any real major adjustments against left handers in particular, and you know, they haven't.

Speaker 4: This is not the same Pittsburgh Pirates team that we have seen in the past as far as their pitching is concerned, and they're swinging the bats a little bit better. They're over five hundred and they're playing pretty decent baseball. So but I would say a major adjustment has to happen in their lineup as far as their overall approach and or the possible personnel that they can bring in. Otherwise I think they'd have a very tough time winning the World Series. Do I think they have a tough time getting to the playoffs? No, will be tough, but I think that they will get there because if their pitching stays healthy, I.

I mean, that's the way they play the game these days, you get your most dangerous bats high in the lineup, so they have a chance of getting that extra at bat on a given night. So if you're in a one run game in the ninth inning, they have a better chance of coming to the plate and changing the game. Also, you get them up in the first inning. I don't have a big problem with it, you know, I really don't. They've won a lot of ball games with Kyle Schwarber hitting one and two. If you can link them the lineup and get some on base percentage down below, he might drive in more runs. But to put him forth, you know, I don't know where his great protection is going to come from. I like him hit in front of Harper. He's dangerous there. So there's a lot of factors in it.

Speaking of Jim Nance, I went to Ironomic on Monday and I saw his little perch where he's going to be calling the action on Sunday and on Saturday and Sunday, and I followed, so listen to this. I was there for a practice round and I followed Shane lower or Lowery a lot. I like him. Yeah, he's he's a cool dude. He looks like a good guy. And I said hi to Patrick Harrington and he totally ignored me. Anyway, they were he walked, he walked right by me like five feet away. Goo, all right, Patty, and he goes right by me like screw you, dude. And so I followed them, and I followed Lowry on eighteen and he hits a monster drive and then he hits I think one of those mini drivers right to the fringe on this like six hundred yard finishing hole or something, and he goes he knocks it up and makes his par Yesterday I'm watching TV, same hole, same two shots and knocks in his chip for an eagle. Amazing.
